Mission Command (Husky)
The Anglo American invasion of Sicily, code named HUSKY, marked the Allies first direct assault
on Europe and second attempt at coalition operations. The Allies inexperience in coalition
operations is evident through inadequacies in command and control (C2) and integration of fires
and maneuver at the operational level. When evaluated against the attributes of mission command:
commander s intent, mutual trust, and understanding, the planning and execution of HUSKY
reveal significant shortfalls. First, Eisenhower and Alexander fail to provide clear guidance and
intent to their subordinate commanders. Second, a dearth of shared planning, training, and combat
experience limits opportunities for Allied commanders to build mutual trust. Third,... Show more

JP 3 09 points out that a critical component of integrating joint fires into an operation is the
development of a fire support plan. This plan describes the operational environment and
identifies priorities and objectives regarding the use of joint fires capabilities. Specifically, air
planners refuse to cooperate with ground and naval force planners to synchronize fires
capabilities to achieve desired objectives. Throughout the planning and execution of HUSKY,
Allied air forces independently establish priorities and objectives. Air forces planners prioritize
the neutralization of Axis air forces at the expense of support functions such as the protection of
naval assets or close air support of ground forces. Even after achieving air superiority, Allied air
forces fail to deny airspace over the operational area to Axis air

Hugh Hefner Research Paper
Hugh Hefner was an extraordinary innovator, entrepreneur and revolutionist. The sex obsessed pop
culture and generation can recognize the seed of its foundation for being planted by a man who
chose to do as he wished. Still yet to be uprooted despite its negative nature, the media has
embraced sex as a great advertisement. Hugh Hefnerfits into a special category of leadership called
transformational. Transformational leaders enhance their followers morale and performance
through various avenues and that s exactly what Mr. Hefner completed. In a world where public
indecency was frowned upon and sexual behaviors were kept behind closed doors, Hugh Hefner

Mr. Hefner is widely known as the greatest bachelor of all time due to his Playboy magazine which
first launched in December 1953. After Mr. Hefner s first publications began to sale featuring
Marilyn Monroe, the critics stepped in. Even though earning a staggering forty three million
dollars in net worth feels great, it does not come easily. While people called Mr. Hefner things
like pervert and degenerate, his money began to speak and people began to listen. Soon those
criticizing words changed into rebel and genius. It was a terrific time to release a new sexy
magazine right after the great depression. People needed something to get their minds off of the
economy and nothing does that better than sex. Playboy magazine was named after an automobile
company in Chicago because Hugh Hefner thought it resembled high class and high class is what
he became.
As CEO and owner of Playboy magazine Mr. Hefner is in a class of his own. Mr. Hefner being
himself and sticking to an idea that fought so much controversy at its time of creation represents
volume to his authentic style of leadership. Hugh Hefner has been an icon and trendsetter in the
Anglo culture and will be remember for a long time. He shaped media and transformed it into
something new. Professional Hugh Hefner is an icon of business and entrepreneurship but how

The Influence Of European Imperialism
The Non Western World s identity was hurting due to the European s imperialistic power and
because the intruders were arrogant. The initial response of the African and Asian people was to
try to drive them out. However, anti foreign reactions were put down fiercely by the Europeans
superior technology. Therefore, conquered people worked to preserve their own culture from
westernization, while Ismail of Egypt felt that the West was superior and that Egyptians should
reform. Asians and Africans were used to doing what they were told to do, but opponents of
imperialism felt that they were being robbed of their dignity by their outside rulers. Civil liberty
and political self determination were marks of the Western world for those opposed foreign rule.
India was the jewel in Britain s Imperialist crown; The British East India Company conquered the
last independent Indian state in 1848, so British rule was complete. By 1858, India was ruled by
the British Parliament and administered by a small all white civil service. In 1900, there were less
than three thousand officials to rule a country of over 300 million. The Brits introduced a
secondary English speaking education system in India. Irrigation projects for agriculture, the third
largest railroad network, and tea plantations were developed. European domination of India led to a
rise in Indian nationalism because everyone knew that no matter how advanced Indian became, he

German Expressionism In Tim Burton s Corpse Bride
The history of cinematography has increased enormously since the birth of the first motion picture.
Numerous of styles, techniques and technology have been introduced to make films like they have
never been seen before. From the invention of the camera obscura, to the introduction of CGI
technology, the filmindustry has tremendously grown and has allowed for the generating of ideas
to become easier than ever. The creation of film has allowed talented directors, screenwriters and

The art of animation was first introduced as early as the 1900 s. Since technology did not allow
for advanced types of animation to be produced, it was extremely limited in its early days. One
of the first people to gain popularity over their animation films was Walt Disney, who was an
important influence on Burton s film making. Moreover, in Corpse Bride, Burton and his crew
provide a scene very similar to Disney s 1929 s short film The Skeleton Dance. Special
choreography was taken particularly from the short and was incorporated into Corpse Bride giving
it an old fashioned, but enjoyable touch. Even though Disney s family friendly cartoons served as
an enormous influence on Burton s decision to start producing children s animation films,
Claymation is the true type of animation Burton uses in Corpse Bride. Claymation is a form of
animation using special techniques to snap different frames at once to allow it to produce an
animated effect called slow motion animation. Many contemporary animators adhere to Claymation
due to its unique and realistic characteristics. Films that use Claymation animation include modern
movies such as Coraline (2009) or even older films such as Gumbasia (1955). Due to the extensive
amount of work and time each Claymation film requires, there were very few created in the earlier

The Adolescent Stage Essay
The adolescent stage is one in which the human being develops from being a child into an adult, or
from puberty to legal adulthood. The stage consists of the transition in both the physical and the
psychological contexts ( Adolescence | Psychology Today , 2016). The transaction of the adolescent
is the relationship between the environments and the person (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). This
interaction influences the adolescents development as they are in the stage of their lives whereby
the trying to attain autonomy of their lives from their parents/ caregivers (Bosma Kunnen, 2001).
To achieve development to emerge into adulthood there are many identity statuses one must go
through in order to achieve a sucessful development (Waterman, 1999). These identity statuses are
influenced by the psychosocial enviornment of the person and these are represented in identity
processes (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). Identity processes are immeadiate processing of data that affects
the identity and actually holds the identity at stake (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). However they are the
building blocks to developmental processes which is the identity growth and change over the
human life span (Bosma Kunnen, 2001). In the adolescent stage development is influenced by
many factors in transaction. Looking at the whole context is important so that the identity

Essay on The Cause And Effect Of The Spanish American War
American imperialism in 1898 was not a sudden abandonment of anti colonial tradition but was a
logical extension of commercial expansion, something the US had been doing throughout its
history (SparkNotes: The Spanish American War, 1898 1901,: Effects of the Treaty). President
McKinley was not interested in wars of conquest or of territorial aggression. His interest in
expansion was to make the United States first in international commerce and as a means to
implement its humanitarian and democratic goals (Faragher, J., Buhle, M. J., Armitage, S. H.

the vessel on February 15, 1898. A naval court of inquiry blamed the explosion on a mine,
further inflaming public sentiment against Spain (HIS104 U.S. History Since 1877 30 Jun

conspiracy. American now demanded revenge for the deaths of 266 sailors (Faragher, J., 2008,

Cuban people, engage in armistice, and promise the eventual independence of Cuba. Upon Spain
s refusal, McKinley asked for a declaration of war. (HIS104 U.S. History, Lecture, 30 Jun 2008,

Status of Women in Colonial Society
Mariama Bessane Professor Perine James American History 1151 Essay #1 Jan 7th,2016 Status
of Women in Colonial Society Women were always considered inferior to men since day one.
That belief had been existing until the eighteen century. During that period, English Colonists
brought to America their ideologies with them. Women did not have the same rights as men did
during that time. Women were tied in a leash, kept in the dark, and controlled by society. Life
wasn t easy for them. They were not allowed to express their opinions, and if they did, they
would be called wicked or evil and be negatively judged by society. During the colonial era,

Working in farmlands was not an easy task to do, but tobacco became the king of the lands and
every hand was useful in order to cultivate it. Women were needed to work the lands no matter
how fatiguing it was, and the only way they were able to make the journey through the colonies
was to be in a contract as indentured servants. The name derived from the indenture, or contract,
by which a person promised to work for a fixed number of years in return for transportation to
America (America 75.) Working the land in the sizzling sun caused many servants to die from
disease. Those who survived and completed their indentured contract could marry and even have
lands with their husbands. Despite the restrictions put on women, the insufficiency of work created
opportunities. Women in the city were able to have different lives from those living in farms. In the
city, women could socialize with other women. Outside their home, and family, they were allowed
to associate themselves with other women, and have their own women time without being bothered
by husbands or children. For example, in the city, women could work outside their home as tavern
hostesses, and shopkeepers and sometimes also worked as nurses, painters, printers, upholsterers,
silversmiths, and tanners. (America 71) Generally speaking, women in the city had a better life

Discuss how class conflict is represented in A Streetcar...
Class conflict is represented throughout the play, A Streetcar Named Desire in various ways
through characters, symbols, ideas and language. Characters such as Blanche, Stella, Mitch and
Stanley are used throughout the text to represent the upper and lower classes, as well as the
conflict between the two classes. Symbols, ideas and language help to define the different classes
as well as helping to represent the conflict between classes. The language (dialogue) of the
characters, symbolic use of names, animal imagery and colour (clothes) and the ideas of cultural
capital help to define what the lower and upper classes are.

In contrast the name Stanley offers no specific meaning in relation to meaning in the play.
Secondly the name Dubois sounds aristocratic, with a possible proud heritage, whereas the name
Kowalski sounds more modern. A Dubois speaks softly and flittingly, as the name is pronounced,
whereas a Kowalski speaks loudly and brutally as the name is said. Kowalski s enjoy loud, rowdy
poker parties, whilst Dubois s wince and prefer teas, cocktail parties and luncheons. The names of
these two characters help in constructing the conflict between the two classes. The dialogue of
Blanche and Stanley and the symbolic use of names help to construct class conflict in the play, A
Streetcar Named Desire.
Stella represents the old south being converted by the new south. Blanche fights for Stella to
come back and be part of the old south again, accusing Stella of being blinded by desire for
Stanley ( What you are talking about is brutal desire just Desire! Scene Four, Blanche). Elysian
fields is described as having an atmosphere of decay. This scenery is contrasted to the image of
white pillars at Belle Reve. This contrast is to highlight the difference in the world Stella has
chosen (lower class lifestyle), and the world she was brought up in (upper class lifestyle). Colour is

The Impact of Childcare on Children s Social and Cognitive Development
Introduction
Over the years the long term effects of preschool childcare has been a topic of growing interest.
The use of these programs have grown dramatically over the years, and more than half of all three
to five year olds in the United States attend childcare centers prior to kindergarten (Peisner
Feinberg et al., 2001). Many questions have risen overtime on the quality of childcare centers, and
the research on these issues has been extremely inadequate. Do these early childcare centers have a
long term impact on a child s social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What seemed to have sparked interest in this topic were the inconsistent findings on the issue of
social outcomes. Although it has been found that children who attended childcare programs
appeared to be more socially competent than home reared peers, displays of aggression and
resistance to adult requests were also described among childcare children (Haskins et al., 1985,
as cited in Phillips et al., 1987). Phillips, McCartney and Scarr (1987) believed that these
contradictory findings differed due to the quality of the childcare programs. Because a high
percentage of children were spending majority of their time in a childcare setting, and with those
programs ranging in quality, Bermuda was chosen as the site to further this research (Phillips,
McCartney, Scarr, 1987). Nine childcare centers that accepted children from infancy through
preschool agreed to participate in the study. These centers were chosen in respect to the diversity
of the children s family backgrounds and director s experiences in childcare (Phillips, McCartney,
Scarr, 1987). A total of 166 families participated in the study, with criteria being that the childmust
be three years or older, and attending one of the target centers for six months or longer. Of the 166
children, 130 were African American and 36 were Caucasian. Nineteen months was the

The Value of a Liberal Education
In today s society we view education as many things, but among the many views and opinions of
education there are two major views we see that stand out, education is a right for all and
education is necessary only for finding a successful career. To be more exact, it is a college
education that is or should be available to all and is only necessary for securing a successful job.
But before we even begin to think about a job or whether we want to pursue our God given right to
higher educationwe must first start our journey at the bottom of the educational system. In our lives
we all start our journey through educationin the same place, the bottom of the educational system.
For some this can mean something along the lines such as pre school, private tutoring, or home
schooling. We eventually work our way up going through kindergarten, elementary school, junior
high, and then eventually high school. After high school we are than left two choices, enter
directly into the work force, or pursue a higher education. Say we chose to pursue a higher
education and go to college; we then have to make another decision, do I want go directly into a
certain profession and pursue a degree for that career, or do I want expand my virtues and pursue
a liberal education. For now, let us delve into the subject that is a liberal education. The beginning
of liberal education spans as far back as to the time of the great Greek philosophers like Aristotle
and Plato, as Chuck E. Taylor describes in

many old ideas and the formation of many new, this was called the Renaissance. The Renaissance
brought many changes to Europe, the economy was greatly boosted by of all the new explorations.
The flourishing economy helped to inspire new developments in art and literature. And from that
many new beliefs were formed.
The European economy flourished during the Renaissance due to many factors. There was a large

With the arts the artists began to think on their own and those movements began to spread. It was

writers and philosophers. Petrarch was the original humanist, and a writer who wrote many letters
to the people of ancient Rome. In those letters he spoke as if he was an equal with them. Another of
the new beliefs was scholasticism, which was the opposite of humanism. Scholastics thought that
people should spend more time the sciences, they also wanted the church and science to be brought
together as one. As new scientific discoveries were made many of the churches theories were
beginning to be questioned.

Time Series Forecasting And Neural Networks
Abstract
Time series forecasting plays an important role in the academic and practical domains. Many
researchers have studied on this area from several years. There are many models which are used to
improve the accuracy of time series forecasting. In this paper, I have focused on one method i.e.
Neural Networks. In the first section of the report, I will give brief introduction on time series
forecasting and neural networks. In the next part, I will explain this neural method which is used
for forecasting in the literature review. At last, I will conclude the paper. Moreover, the main aim
of this paper is to define the neural network method among the different methods in the time series
forecasting.
Introduction
Time series forecasting is a quantitative model. It means that historical results are gathered to
produce the results to predict the future. This model is used in that situation where no
information is available or provided data is not satisfactory. Time series is a series of
experiments which is measured to get successive results such as, x1, x2, x3.......Xt 2, Xt 1 Xt.
These experiments may be done every day, every hour or every year. It is important to understand
the data pattern to achieve the aim that hoe variables behaved in the past. It has two types of
models which are linear and non linear. Moreover, linear methods are easy to construct and
understand. This is used when there are a huge number of forecasts to be done. Many researchers
have done efforts to

by paroxysmal cough. The outbreak of this disease was first noticed in the 16th century and it
took another 300 years to isolate the organism, that is in 1906. The vaccine was developed in

Now that most children are immunized prior to starting school, there is a higher (not the highest)
percentage of pertussis cases seen among adolescents and adults (Medlineplus, 2013).
Consequently, adolescents and adults are a significant source for transmission to unvaccinated
young infants (WHO, 2010). Pertussis is most fatal in infants and young children less than one
year of age (CDC Pertussis, 2013). Severe disease and death have been reported mainly during the
first weeks and months of life. In older children, adolescents, and adults pertussis often goes
unrecognized (WHO, 2010).
Suggested areas for further research are with regards to teenagers and adults and how the vaccine
may be administered so that the efficacy is prolonged. This may include modifying the current
vaccine or making modifications to the vaccine schedule allowing for more boosters to become
available for the vaccine. Another recommendation is to expand current vaccination campaigns
beyond expecting parents and healthcare workers. The campaign should be designed to reach
grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and anyone who may come into close contact with infants
and young

Both the movies, Inside Out and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind focus heavily on memory
and the impact that memory has on one s life. The movie Inside Out focuses on how memories
and the emotions attached to them can shape us and a our personalities. The movie depicts in
animated form the basics of memory, short term memory, long term memory and forgetting. It as
shows the idea of mood congruent effect. Mood congruent effect is the idea that you remember
memories that were encoded when you were in that same mood easier than when you are in a
different mood. That can been seen in Inside Out because when Riley is happy she can recall the

In Inside Out, it is shown that tubes suck the memory from long term memory to short term
memory. The only problem that is shown in the movie with retrieval is memory decay, in the
movie this is shown as a dulling of the memory, and eventually the memory is sent to the memory
dump where it is forgotten. The concepts of encoding failure and retrieval failure are not shown in
the movie. Memory retrieval is depicted in the movie Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind in a
very different way. They show memory retrieval through cues from objects, so in the process of
erasing the memory of someone from one s mind, one must get rid of everything that might remind

53 RWHAP
The 53 RWHAP Part A recipients reported the number of staff FTE assigned to CQM. Data was
extracted from each application and the total FTE for one recipient was further categorized
based on the position titles. The number of FTE staff in the recipient s CQM program ranges
from 0 17.3 FTE. On average, 3.27 FTE are on staff and the median is 2.35 FTE. It is important
to note that some recipients reported the FTE including contractors specifically assigned to CQM.
CQM Staff Roles and Responsibilities Narrative: Extracted information from each recipient s
application was categorized into different position titles. Since the titles for similar roles and
responsibilities varied among each recipient, general position titles were created based on the
duties. According to the data presented, recipients reported having 5 contract analysts, 7
epidemiologists, 7 nurses, 10 research analysts, 15 administrative assistants, and 18 health
specialists. In addition, recipients reported having 47 QM managers, 40 data managers, 35 program
administrators, and 10 other FTEs that range from a social work intern to a staff analyst.
Conclusion:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the descriptions of quality management staff vary among the same reported position title, it
is more important to examine the specific roles and responsibilities of each CQM staff rather than
the designated position title on the report. Additionally, the number of FTE does not always
correlate with the amount of quality management work produced by the recipient. Some recipients
reported 1 FTE but subcontracted many services, while other recipients reported many FTE s but
only 1 contracted service. Therefore, the number of FTE, description of positions, and contractor
roles must all be examined in a comprehensive review in order to analyze an individual

In the case of Robert Tolan and Marian Tolan vs. Jeffrey Wayne Cotton, I will be discussing what
interest me about this case. I will also deliberating on the liability and criminal liability of this case.
The Tolan vs. Cotton case interests me because the United States have so many police that are
brutalizing citizens. In some cases the police officers are getting away with it. After reading,
reviewing, and studying this case I have learn a lot about the criminal system and laws that men
and women should obey. I will explain how the nine judges on the Supreme courts all came to a
verdict against the police officer Jeffrey Cotton after he shot an innocent suspect. This people ...

Accomplice Liability and Criminal Liability Accomplice liability consents the court to find a
person or persons criminally liable for actions committed by another person. Criminal liability is
when a person is commits the crime or act and that he or she intent to commit the crime at that
moment. Sergeant Cotton was acquitted of all criminal charges against him in the criminal side.
However, the Robert and Marian Tolan felt that the lower court s decision was not fair. I do agree
with the Tolans. I believe that courts did not take the evidence that was present to them
inconsideration that Cotton was guilty. Cotton carelessly made an error on typing in the car tag
number that Robert Tolan and his cousin was driving. Since, he made that mistake he is
responsible criminal and civil. He should have been since to prison time and he should be
responsible of the wellbeing of Robert Tolan. On the other hand Cotton was found not criminal
liability for the charges in criminal court but Tolan took his case to the Supreme Court. Cotton then
was found responsible in civil court.

1984 Class Structure
Humans always have had a tendency to allow the poor and miserable to suffer, even while the
wealthy continue to fatten and flourish in needed yet often unshared resources. The social order
has shaped a distinctive hierarchy composed of the High, the Middle, and the Low in an
exceedingly flawed and callous structure. This system has been implemented in our history over a
variety of ages and civilizations. More importantly, the structure has not been altered to work for
any system except for theoretical Communism and Socialism. The novel 1984 was a shock to the
masses when it was released, but by showing the class structure and political satire Orwell was able

This is remarkably similar to certain viewpoints taken of the United States philosophies on politics
and the class system. According to Phillips, В… the erosion of the U.S. middle class in the 1980s
and early 1990s reflected technological change and global economic upheaval. The Reagan
administration introduced new philosophies, tentative and little understood at first, to justify
policies of redistributing tax burdens, exalting markets, over rewarding the rich and the
manipulations of financeВ… Using the previous example from Kevin Phillips, one can see how
the upper or high class will always attempt to gain more wealth and power, even at the expense of
the common good as well as the majority. The peasants and other low classes have always been
pressed on by their uppers. The Proles make up the majority of the population of Oceania, about
85%. The Party itself is only interested in their labor power, because the Proles are mainly
employed in the industry and in the farms (Gerenser). A society cannot exist without a working

Taxes for a corporation are doubled; you will have tax at the corporate level and then taxed again
on the dividends paid to stockholders and many financial reports (IRS, SEC, etc). Since the
corporation has its own existence, it pays taxes on its own income, then with giving oneself an
paycheck, you get taxed on your income also. (Poznak 2010, Ebert amp; Griffin 2005) Any
business endeavor is risky, whether it being a sole proprietor, partnership or a corporation. The
need for which type of business to start, would be the need for health and life insurance. Proper
planning and knowledge would be key to avoid any pitfalls. (Poznak 2010) The business type
most likely to succeed would be a corporation. As a corporation you have more talent, more
ideas, and more financial backing. With a corporation, I could get the financial and managerial
help that I need to succeed in my product, business, and growth. I will also have more resources to
help finance my backing and have more liable coverage in insurance, lawyers, and accountants.
Also with any company, I could trademark and copyright my product. To start a corporation will
take much time, determination, and will power. This will not be an easy task but one that will have
patience and support of family and friends.

The Pros And Cons Of European Soft Power
If we look at our world today and at our world seventy years ago we will observe many changes
that world has had. Technological progress, climatic change, increasing process of globalization,
view toward politics and international relations. A couple of years ago hard power was dominated
in conducting foreign policy and managing international relations. As years go on, old methods of
politics are becoming irrelevant, inapplicable and sometimes even dangerous. However, some
states, as the USA, still used to think that hard power is quite good mean of conducting politics,
while Europeis considered to be the incarnation of soft power.
The term soft power was first implemented by Joseph S. Nye in 1990. Later he described soft
power in his book Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics as the ability to get what
you want through attraction rather than coercion or payments (Nye, 2004).
Although term soft power was implemented only two decades ago, clear examples of it were

Flatbed Drivers Research Paper
Flatbed carriers encounter sunshine, rain, snow, wind and other elements as they roll down the
road. Drivers have to protect their cargo with tarps and fastening devices to keep it protected from
the weather. Most times, those tarps are large, heavy, fold up versions that have to be manually
hauled to the top of the load. Once they re in place, they have to be spread out and secured at
multiple points on the trailerbed. This is one of the most dangerous and strenuous parts of a driver s
job.
Standard tarps weigh anywhere between 40 and 90 pounds, depending on the size. They have to be
carried to the top of the load, spread out, tucked under and around the cargo and secured to the truck
bed. It s difficult work, at best, especially for older drivers. Not only that, but it is an incredibly
dangerous thing to do. Drivers must be extremely careful when climbing on top of the load. Falling

The story takes place in the 1960s. During this time, there was a really lot of controversy in the
United States involving war. The Vietnam War was was at its peak. The war began in 1955 and
did not end until 1975. Many of the young men went into the war the same way that the narrator
and his friends went to greasy lake. They thought they were perceived as bad and brave. Just as
the narrator and his friends headed to greasy lake, they were unsure of what the night was going
to bring. They experienced and saw things that they were not prepared for. In a way, the narrator

What Are The Structural-Molecular Hydrochemistry Changes...
The hydrophobic effect refers to when there is an increase in entropy (disorder) due to water
molecules wanting to exclude nonpolar molecules. The nonpolar side chains will clustered in the
interior of the protein, while the polar side chains will on the surface of the protein in contact with
the water molecules. This effect caused the proteinto turn from a coil into a more compacted
structure. With this, the protein is more stable too since there are no nonpolar molecules to interact
with the hydrogen bonding of water. Thus, hydrogen bonding between the water molecules are
maximized, leading to protein stability.

Essay about Problems with Interpersonal Communication
What, what did you say? I often find myself saying this when talking with children. The likely
culprit of why is poor listening habits. Most people spend mere time listening than they spend on
any other communication activity, yet a large percentage of people never learn to listen well.
(TLSC, 2008) The above example is what I like to call pseudo listening. People will be thinking
about something else but appear to be listening and only get about half the intended message.
Recently at my father s (Ron) companybecause of a pseudo listening instance a $400,000 dollar

information to the planning department at Ron s company. In the end this resulted in the final

well. Had Mr. X listen to what was being quoted and asked for more concrete information the
entire situation would have been different. During the listening phase if Mr. X had been truly
engaged he would have realized that the placement of the welds was specked on the wrong spots.
They were about ВЅ inch off, nonetheless it was incorrect. Rather he focused on getting this other

Improving the Situation A good listener wants to see how the facts explain the ideas and the
evidence supports arguments, and realizes facts are important only in relation to principles, ideas
and arguments. (Oregon State University, 2008) If Mr. X was using good listening habits he would

in Ron and Company B both being satisfied with the product? One of the other factors I mentioned

Henry David Thoreau Summary
Thoreau from the beginning, showed how tight he was with his money and how much he valued
what he had even if it wasn t much. Throughout this paper he tells of his work he finds, the
money he makes and how wisely he spends it. He often thought that men who worked in the labor
industry were making a mistake, that they worked endlessly for so long they were basically
machines. Henry reaches out to his readers and lets them know that no matter how poor they start
out that there s always a light at the end of the tunnel as long as you re willing to work hard and
spend your money wisely.
Thoreau believed that public opinion was weak compared to or own private opinion. Also, that
what a man thinks of himself determined their own fate, and that one generation after the next
abandons what s been learned from the hard working generation before. He started out doing simple
outdoor work like helping with snow storms, rain storms, watering of plants, all while minding his

Reflection About Friendship
My partner, Naeem Mohammad, and I met on December 9. During our last meeting together, we
drove around St. Louis and had dinner at Raising Cane s, while talking about college system and
family. Again, Naeem has greatly improved his English since our last meeting on November 18th.
We were able to talk more in detail about the Saudi Arabian college system and family back in
Saudi Arabia. This parallels a development breakthrough in my revival of Chinese: Siri can
recognize me speaking in Chinese. While not something I should be particularly proud of, I can
make this connection between this and development of Naeem s language throughout the
semester. He can hold longer conversations, and his vocabulary has improved to the point where
he told me that he can skip a level of English. This reminds me of being able to understand one s
strengths and weaknesses, because it can make a difference in how one approach life. This is
key when we discussed the above topics, where I rarely had to help him finish his sentences and
can describe situations well. Speaking of which, as Naeem drove me around St. Louis, we talked
about the financial aid system at SLU and the college system in Saudi Arabia, where I told him
about 97% of the students here receive grants, loans, and work study. In contrast, he told me that
not only Saudi Arabian college is free, but students also receive a $300 allowance per month. This
is reminiscent of when my father went to college after the universities in China opened after the
Cultural Revolution, where tuition, and room and board were free, and they also give a sum of
money. In education in Saudi Arabia, Naeem attributes this to not many people decide to continue
with college, and I can attest that to China as well, where education today is compulsory until the
9th grade. I perceived the initiative Naeem talked about back in Saudi Arabia to improve the access
of education to more people. It intrigues me how Saudi Arabians approach education differently
how the United Statesapproach it. As I am going into the medical field, I would want to note the
differences in how I approach healthcare. It is not a business; it s a universal right. I don t want to

Furthermore, looking involves different relationships of power. Spectatorship provides a deeper
understanding of looking. This process is enacted in most interactive, multimodal, and relational

The Impact of the Industrial Revolution on Western Society
The Industrial Revolution had a significant impact on Western society and the effects were
numerous and mainly positive. The Industrial Revolution began in England in the 1790 s and
spread throughout Europe and eventually to America. The extensive effects of the Industrial
Revolution influenced almost every aspect of daily life and human society in some way. During
this time period, widespread transportation such as railroads became available and important for
the movement of goods and people. Also, new social reforms came about, dealing with critical
issues including that of child labor.

female or boy under ten years of age was to be employed underground in the mines. The factory
acts allowed for a more modern day pattern of work in which men were expecting to be the main
wage earners. The Industrial Revolution increased the awareness of human rights of women and
children, and therefore, accelerated the process of equality in society.
An additional effect of the Industrial Revolution on Western society was the improvement in
living standards for people. The invention of the steam engine, run by coal, allowed factories to
be located in cities and no longer by water. This resulted in people flocking to these densely

Pursuing Art Analysis
Ever since I was born, I am surrounded by art. Pursuing art is like my family tradition, I am the
fourth generation in my family who decided to use visual arts to share our perspectives to the rest
of the world. I am not the kind of people who are good at starting verbally communication. For me,
art is the way that I communicate with others. Communicating through art, I was able to let people
see the way that I see the world.
To me, art does not really have a standard, and there should not be evaluations of right or wrong arts
. I believe the main purpose the art serve is that it should be visually appealing, and the audience
can feel the emotion that is behind your art work. People have hundreds and thousands of different
emotions, but we

A Research Study On Stem Cell Therapy
Introduction
Stem cells are homogeneous cells found in the human body which have potential to change into,
or differentiate into a range of specific types of cells (Stoppler, 1996). The refurbishment and
protection of many adult tissues are safeguarded by stem cells (SCs) which exist in the top of the
cellular sorting section of these tissues (Beck, 2013). Practical assessments, such as transplantation,
in vitro clonogenic assesses (technique used to study efficacy of exact agents in terms of the
proliferation and endurance of cells) and in vivo lineage tracing, have been undertaken to evaluate
the repairing and differentiation capability of normal SCs (Beck, 2013). Currently, research is on
going to resolve whether stem cell therapy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minimal research findings and reports have been written on the role of side population (SP) cells in
human nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This literature review will evaluate the 2007 research
article on, Identification of Cancer Stem Cell Like Side Population Cells in Human
Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cell Line, by Wang, Guo, Chen, Zeng and Lu, and determine whether
SP cells in human NPC are viable as an aid in efficient drugs and therapeutic strategies which target
NPC Cancer stem cells (CSC) (Wang, Guo, Chen, Zeng, Lu, 2007).
Review of Underpinning Science
Cancer stem cells (CSCs) give rise to the movement of cancer from one section of the body to
another, and are located in several tumour varieties. The unique properties of stem cells which
make them different from normal cells are; their unspecialised nature, capability to give rise to
specialised cell types and ability to divide and renew themselves (Bethesda, 2015). These stem
cell properties can be used to classify CSCs, and therefore can enable them to treat NPC. A major
result of this manipulation process is the ability the cell can have to extrude dyes such as Hoechst
33342 through the ATP binding cassette (which encloses membrane proteins that transfer an
extensive array of substrates) (Dean, 2002)(Wu, C., Alman, B. A., 2008). Importantly, SP cells are
a source of research as they contain these stem cell characteristics and are therefore able to exclude
the Hoechst 33342 dye. This

The Rise Of The Roman And Achaemenid Empire
Rise of the Roman and Achaemenid Empire
Joshuamil Torres
HIS 103: World Civilizations
Kimberly O Brien
February 6, 2017
The Roman and Achaemenid Empires were two empires of immense power and longevity. Both
empires were able to build and expand their ruling through many things. The Roman Empire and
Achaemenid Empire both created a civilization in which they were both powerful. They were
able to set up and expand their empire but would eventually fall. Technology is always essential
in the expansion of any empire. With Rome, this was no different. The expertise and ability to
create roads were critical to their growth, and the Appian Way were one of them. According to

With technology, our civilization is consistently expanding and improving. The same traits that
these empires used to grow are the same qualities we see in our society. Building and maintaining
roads help us communicate which others. Finding a way to transport water from primary sources
helps sustain life. Building a strong military helps keep the area secure and safe. Both these
empires had similar reasonings of how they were able to expand to the size they had until they
would eventually fall and become their present day countries. Reference

Where Are You Going Out Of The House And Live Like Adults,...
Teenagers want to get out of the house and live like adults, but without the responsibility. Where
are you going. Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates describes this for Connie. Connie is a
fifteen year old girl who wants to be older then the age she is now. She dresses one way at home
and another out with her friends. The way older men look at her and treat her is interesting to
her. She ends up meeting somebody that were some trouble and, by the end, things are not going
to turn out so well. Everyone that Connie hangs out with wants to act a certain way and age to
get attention. Things in Connie s life makes her the way she is to the point that she does not
care about anything. One of the reasons Connie acts the way she wants is because of her family.
She is an outcast of the family, her mother cannot stand her, her sister can do no wrong, and her
father works all the time so he does not matter. The reason Connie and her mother do not get
along is because the mother loves the sister June more. June is more of the innocent child where
she does as the parents say. June is not as pretty as Connie, so she has no other choice then to do
whatever her parents tell her to do. Connie is like the pretty younger sister that wants to rebel and
do her own thing because she can. Connie is more of the promiscuous type that hangs out with the
bad crowd and is always into trouble. An example from the text to show how Connie and her
mother interact is Why don t you keep your room

Torture Is A Violation Of Human Rights
In discussions of torture, one controversial issue has been if it is right to use torture to interrogate
suspect terrorist (s) if they have information that can save civilian and military lives. On one hand,
some argue that torture is never justified no matter what the situation is. On the other hand, some
even contend that torture is a violation of our human rights. Others even maintain that it is
ineffective and only causes more conflict. Some even think that it should be used as punishment to
serious criminals such as murderers or rapist. My own view is, however, torture should never be
used no matter what circumstance there may be even if there is a ticking time bomb. Torture used
as a punishment to criminals is barbaric and should never be done. Torture is a violation of the
Geneva Conventions and violates the 8th Amendment of the Constitution of the United Statesof
America; also, torture is not effective because captives will often break, and give the interrogators
phony information just to stop the pain. A man who served as the seventh Secretary General of the
United Nationsnamed Kofi Annan believes torture should never be used. He uses an agreeable
quote when he states Let us be clear: torture can never be an instrument to fight terror, for torture is
an instrument of terror (Annan). In other words, what Annan is saying is two wrongs don t make a
right. He is saying that you can t fight terror with terror because some want to use

The Whole Life In Prison Book Report
This book is about a man who changed his whole life in prison. The author s purpose for this
book is to inform. He wrote this book for a young adult audience. I know this because I found it in
the young adults section in the library, also because some events in this story aren t meant for
children to be reading. For example you wouldn t read a book about someone selling, transporting,
and smoking hash, which is a drugto a child. I chose this book because I needed a short nonfiction
book to read, so that I could complete this book report. Chapter one, section one, is one of my
favorites. It shows how his dad is warning him about taking the criminal path in life. He and his
dad used to ride around while his dad pointed out criminals and told

To Hell With Dying Literary Analysis
An Literary Analysis To Hell with Dying by Alice Walker
Poet, novelist, Womanist activist, Spiritualist, animist, and Pulitzer Prize winner Alice Malsenor
Walker has been referred to as a lavishly talented writer (Gates and Appiah as cited in Howard 31).

and a litterateur alone (Howard 33). Walker produced her first children s book in August 1988.
Naming her short story To Hell with Dying. The characters are composed of Mr. Sweet, a little

When Leggings Are Worn
Leggings are a popular type of leg wear that are today worn by women for casual every day
outfits as well as on many other occasions; this wasn t always the case ,they have been worn for
centuries and this style was firstly only for men. The popularity and styling of them has changed
massively over time and despite coming in and out of fashionseveral times, they still remain a
popular piece of leg wear and are considered a fashionable item for many.
Leggings were first introduced in Scotland in the 14th Century and at this point came in two pieces
with each leg put on separately. During this time they were even worn as armour made from chain
mail by knights and others wore them made of leather. They were then worn by men in Europe

The Allies inexperience in coalition operations is evident through inadequacies in command and control (C2) and integration of fires and maneuver at the operational level. When evaluated against the attributes of mission command: commander s intent, mutual trust, and understanding, the planning and execution of HUSKY reveal significant shortfalls. First, Eisenhower and Alexander fail to provide clear guidance and intent to their subordinate commanders. Second, a dearth of shared planning, training, and combat experience limits opportunities for Allied commanders to build mutual trust. Third,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the planning and execution of HUSKY, Allied air forces independently establish priorities and objectives. Air forces planners prioritize the neutralization of Axis air forces at the expense of support functions such as the protection of naval assets or close air support of ground forces. • 4. The Influence Of European Imperialism The Non Western World s identity was hurting due to the European s imperialistic power and because the intruders were arrogant. The initial response of the African and Asian people was to try to drive them out. However, anti foreign reactions were put down fiercely by the Europeans superior technology. Therefore, conquered people worked to preserve their own culture from westernization, while Ismail of Egypt felt that the West was superior and that Egyptians should reform. Asians and Africans were used to doing what they were told to do, but opponents of imperialism felt that they were being robbed of their dignity by their outside rulers. Civil liberty and political self determination were marks of the Western world for those opposed foreign rule. India was the jewel in Britain s Imperialist crown; The British East India Company conquered the last independent Indian state in 1848, so British rule was complete. By 1858, India was ruled by the British Parliament and administered by a small all white civil service. In 1900, there were less than three thousand officials to rule a country of over 300 million. The Brits introduced a secondary English speaking education system in India. Irrigation projects for agriculture, the third largest railroad network, and tea plantations were developed. European domination of India led to a rise in Indian nationalism because everyone knew that no matter how advanced Indian became, he d never be equal to a white man; the best jobs, hotels, ... The art of animation was first introduced as early as the 1900 s. Since technology did not allow for advanced types of animation to be produced, it was extremely limited in its early days. One of the first people to gain popularity over their animation films was Walt Disney, who was an important influence on Burton s film making. Moreover, in Corpse Bride, Burton and his crew provide a scene very similar to Disney s 1929 s short film The Skeleton Dance. Special choreography was taken particularly from the short and was incorporated into Corpse Bride giving it an old fashioned, but enjoyable touch. Even though Disney s family friendly cartoons served as an enormous influence on Burton s decision to start producing children s animation films, Claymation is the true type of animation Burton uses in Corpse Bride. Claymation is a form of animation using special techniques to snap different frames at once to allow it to produce an animated effect called slow motion animation. Many contemporary animators adhere to Claymation due to its unique and realistic characteristics. The use of these programs have grown dramatically over the years, and more than half of all three to five year olds in the United States attend childcare centers prior to kindergarten (Peisner Feinberg et al., 2001). What seemed to have sparked interest in this topic were the inconsistent findings on the issue of social outcomes. Although it has been found that children who attended childcare programs appeared to be more socially competent than home reared peers, displays of aggression and resistance to adult requests were also described among childcare children (Haskins et al., 1985, as cited in Phillips et al., 1987). Phillips, McCartney and Scarr (1987) believed that these contradictory findings differed due to the quality of the childcare programs. Because a high percentage of children were spending majority of their time in a childcare setting, and with those programs ranging in quality, Bermuda was chosen as the site to further this research (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). Nine childcare centers that accepted children from infancy through preschool agreed to participate in the study. These centers were chosen in respect to the diversity of the children s family backgrounds and director s experiences in childcare (Phillips, McCartney, Scarr, 1987). • 12. The Value of a Liberal Education In today s society we view education as many things, but among the many views and opinions of education there are two major views we see that stand out, education is a right for all and education is necessary only for finding a successful career. To be more exact, it is a college education that is or should be available to all and is only necessary for securing a successful job. But before we even begin to think about a job or whether we want to pursue our God given right to higher educationwe must first start our journey at the bottom of the educational system. In our lives we all start our journey through educationin the same place, the bottom of the educational system. For some this can mean something along the lines such as pre school, private tutoring, or home schooling. We eventually work our way up going through kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, and then eventually high school. After high school we are than left two choices, enter directly into the work force, or pursue a higher education. Say we chose to pursue a higher education and go to college; we then have to make another decision, do I want go directly into a certain profession and pursue a degree for that career, or do I want expand my virtues and pursue a liberal education. For now, let us delve into the subject that is a liberal education. Many researchers have studied on this area from several years. There are many models which are used to improve the accuracy of time series forecasting. In this paper, I have focused on one method i.e. Neural Networks. In the first section of the report, I will give brief introduction on time series forecasting and neural networks. In the next part, I will explain this neural method which is used for forecasting in the literature review. At last, I will conclude the paper. Moreover, the main aim of this paper is to define the neural network method among the different methods in the time series forecasting. Introduction Time series forecasting is a quantitative model. It means that historical results are gathered to produce the results to predict the future. This model is used in that situation where no information is available or provided data is not satisfactory. Time series is a series of experiments which is measured to get successive results such as, x1, x2, x3.......Xt 2, Xt 1 Xt. These experiments may be done every day, every hour or every year. It is important to understand the data pattern to achieve the aim that hoe variables behaved in the past. It has two types of models which are linear and non linear. The movie depicts in animated form the basics of memory, short term memory, long term memory and forgetting. It as shows the idea of mood congruent effect. Mood congruent effect is the idea that you remember memories that were encoded when you were in that same mood easier than when you are in a different mood. That can been seen in Inside Out because when Riley is happy she can recall the happy memories of her family and friends in Minnesota, but when Sadness and Joy get lost in long term memory and Riley is without them, Riley has a much harder time remembering the good things in her life she is only able to see the bad. The idea of mood congruent effect can also be seen in the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, this is seen when Joel s memories of Clementine are being erased, at first they are erasing the negative memories and they go from one negative memory to another with ease, when they finally jump to a happy memory, he jumps from happy memory to happy... The concepts of encoding failure and retrieval failure are not shown in the movie. Memory retrieval is depicted in the movie Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind in a very different way. Communicating through art, I was able to let people see the way that I see the world. To me, art does not really have a standard, and there should not be evaluations of right or wrong arts . I believe the main purpose the art serve is that it should be visually appealing, and the audience can feel the emotion that is behind your art work. People have hundreds and thousands of different emotions, but we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. A Research Study On Stem Cell Therapy Introduction Stem cells are homogeneous cells found in the human body which have potential to change into, or differentiate into a range of specific types of cells (Stoppler, 1996). The refurbishment and protection of many adult tissues are safeguarded by stem cells (SCs) which exist in the top of the cellular sorting section of these tissues (Beck, 2013). Practical assessments, such as transplantation, in vitro clonogenic assesses (technique used to study efficacy of exact agents in terms of the proliferation and endurance of cells) and in vivo lineage tracing, have been undertaken to evaluate the repairing and differentiation capability of normal SCs (Beck, 2013). Currently, research is on going to resolve whether stem cell therapy is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Minimal research findings and reports have been written on the role of side population (SP) cells in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). This literature review will evaluate the 2007 research article on, Identification of Cancer Stem Cell Like Side Population Cells in Human Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cell Line, by Wang, Guo, Chen, Zeng and Lu, and determine whether SP cells in human NPC are viable as an aid in efficient drugs and therapeutic strategies which target NPC Cancer stem cells (CSC) (Wang, Guo, Chen, Zeng, Lu, 2007). Review of Underpinning Science Cancer stem cells (CSCs) give rise to the movement of cancer from one section of the body to another, and are located in several tumour varieties. The unique properties of stem cells which make them different from normal cells are; their unspecialised nature, capability to give rise to specialised cell types and ability to divide and renew themselves (Bethesda, 2015). These stem cell properties can be used to classify CSCs, and therefore can enable them to treat NPC. A major result of this manipulation process is the ability the cell can have to extrude dyes such as Hoechst 33342 through the ATP binding cassette (which encloses membrane proteins that transfer an extensive array of substrates) (Dean, 2002)(Wu, C., Alman, B. A., 2008). Importantly, SP cells are a source of research as they contain these stem cell characteristics and are therefore able to exclude the Hoechst 33342 dye. This ... The Rise Of The Roman And Achaemenid Empire Rise of the Roman and Achaemenid Empire Joshuamil Torres HIS 103: World Civilizations Kimberly O Brien February 6, 2017 The Roman and Achaemenid Empires were two empires of immense power and longevity. Both empires were able to build and expand their ruling through many things. The Roman Empire and Achaemenid Empire both created a civilization in which they were both powerful. They were able to set up and expand their empire but would eventually fall. Technology is always essential in the expansion of any empire. With Rome, this was no different. The expertise and ability to create roads were critical to their growth, and the Appian Way were one of them. According to ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME by Charles Baker, The construction of Roman... The same traits that these empires used to grow are the same qualities we see in our society. Building and maintaining roads help us communicate which others. Finding a way to transport water from primary sources helps sustain life. Building a strong military helps keep the area secure and safe. • 43. Where Are You Going Out Of The House And Live Like Adults,... Teenagers want to get out of the house and live like adults, but without the responsibility. Where are you going. Where have you been by Joyce Carol Oates describes this for Connie. Connie is a fifteen year old girl who wants to be older then the age she is now. She dresses one way at home and another out with her friends. The way older men look at her and treat her is interesting to her. She ends up meeting somebody that were some trouble and, by the end, things are not going to turn out so well. Everyone that Connie hangs out with wants to act a certain way and age to get attention. Things in Connie s life makes her the way she is to the point that she does not care about anything. One of the reasons Connie acts the way she wants is because of her family. She is an outcast of the family, her mother cannot stand her, her sister can do no wrong, and her father works all the time so he does not matter. The reason Connie and her mother do not get along is because the mother loves the sister June more. June is more of the innocent child where she does as the parents say. June is not as pretty as Connie, so she has no other choice then to do whatever her parents tell her to do. Connie is like the pretty younger sister that wants to rebel and do her own thing because she can. Connie is more of the promiscuous type that hangs out with the bad crowd and is always into trouble. An example from the text to show how Connie and her mother interact is Why don t you keep your room ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Torture Is A Violation Of Human Rights In discussions of torture, one controversial issue has been if it is right to use torture to interrogate suspect terrorist (s) if they have information that can save civilian and military lives. On one hand, some argue that torture is never justified no matter what the situation is. On the other hand, some even contend that torture is a violation of our human rights. Others even maintain that it is ineffective and only causes more conflict. Some even think that it should be used as punishment to serious criminals such as murderers or rapist. My own view is, however, torture should never be used no matter what circumstance there may be even if there is a ticking time bomb. Torture used as a punishment to criminals is barbaric and should never be done. Torture is a violation of the Geneva Conventions and violates the 8th Amendment of the Constitution of the United Statesof America; also, torture is not effective because captives will often break, and give the interrogators phony information just to stop the pain. A man who served as the seventh Secretary General of the United Nationsnamed Kofi Annan believes torture should never be used. He uses an agreeable quote when he states Let us be clear: torture can never be an instrument to fight terror, for torture is an instrument of terror (Annan). In other words, what Annan is saying is two wrongs don t make a right. He is saying that you can t fight terror with terror because some want to use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Whole Life In Prison Book Report This book is about a man who changed his whole life in prison. The author s purpose for this book is to inform. He wrote this book for a young adult audience. I know this because I found it in the young adults section in the library, also because some events in this story aren t meant for children to be reading. For example you wouldn t read a book about someone selling, transporting, and smoking hash, which is a drugto a child. I chose this book because I needed a short nonfiction book to read, so that I could complete this book report. Chapter one, section one, is one of my favorites. It shows how his dad is warning him about taking the criminal path in life. He and his dad used to ride around while his dad pointed out criminals and told ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
