My Trip To NYU Pediatric Dentistry
Alright class, we re going to take a visit to the NYU Pediatric Dentistry. That was my preschool
teacher s voice ringing through the 4 year old me before our trip. It was an unusual trip because when
permission slips were handed out, we thought it was a tour of the facility but we were wrong. It was a
dentist appointment for each of us who attended. Upon arrival, it didn t occur to me that fear crept into
the minds of the others because I was so amazed at what lied ahead of me. The neat structures of every
machine, the unity of the staff, and the knowledge of each dentist amazed me. It felt like I entered
somewhere I see myself in fifteen years. Growing up, I was limited to certain schools due to distance
and my mom s rating list.

Effective Control Capacity Of Administration
After strategies are planned and arrangements are made, management s essential assignment is to
make moves to guarantee that these arrangements are done, or, if conditions warrant, that the
arrangements are adjusted. This is the discriminating control capacity of administration. Also since
administration includes guiding the exercises of others, a real piece of the control capacity are
verifying other individuals do what ought to be done. In numerous circumstances, a control
framework manufactured around estimation and criticism is not attainable. Furthermore actually when
plausibility is not a restriction, utilization of an input situated control framework is frequently a
second rate result. Yet, great controls might be made and kept up utilizing different procedures. In the
event that all work forces dependably did what was best for the association, control and even
administration would not be required (Krajewski, 2007). However, clearly people are once in a while
incapable or unwilling to act in the association s best investment, and a set of controls must be
actualized to make preparations for undesirable conduct and to empower alluring activities. One
paramount class of issues against which control frameworks guard may be called individual
constraints. Individuals don t generally comprehend what is anticipated from them or how they can
best perform their employments, as they may fail to offer some imperative capacity, preparing, or data.

Obesity in Australian culture and society
Obesity in Today s Australian Culture and Society
Introduction Obesity is best referred to as the red alert health zone . The thing that makes obesity that
dangerous is the fact that today s society does not view obesity as a serious threat. It is important to
understand the fact that obesity is not just being fat or having a BMI i.e. Body Mass Index greater than
that of an overweight person. Obesity is a serious problem that can fatally damage the physical as well
as mental health of a person. While all of us understand how obesity can affect the physical health, a
few of us know how mental health is affected due to obesity. A person suffering from obesity is
termed as obese. Such a person is usually a victim of mockery and insult due to his appearance. No
matter how educated we are we as a society have failed to keep in account the fact that obese people
are also humans and deserve to be treated normally. The unequal treatment for the obese along with
the comments consisting of insults and mockery combined together to form a state of mental
instability in the obese person. This results in a higher rate of anxiety and depression in the obese. The
severity of depression is sometimes so high that it results in suicide attempts. Obese people are
generally viewed by the others as the annoyed people. The reason for that is the fact that due to the
alienated treatment from the normal people, they are likely to have emotional instability which results
in severe mood

Social Expectations In Lord Of The Flies
People are used to living in an orderly, civilized society with many different social expectations and
structures. A dependency is built on this civil life, and people find it difficult to live their lives without
rules and order. The children in William Golding s Lord of the Flies come from a life like this, from
school in England. When this orderly life, full of expectations and civility, is taken away from them,
they are forced to adapt and reach for their most basic human instincts. They attempt to maintain a
grip on societal structures but eventually slip into a violent fight for survival. As the earliest of humans
did, the boys live without society or civilization shaping their behavior. The deepest instincts of
humans are based on those behaviors developed and utilized by the earliest of humans. When societal
structure and social expectations are stripped away, humans will revert to their deepest and most
primal instincts. People will often conform to social norms, but they will stop when they are no longer
expected to. It is easy for people to just follow what everybody else is doing and what they are
expected to do; this is what society is built on and how civilization stays intact. According to a 2011
Stanford University philosophy article: We prefer to comply with the norm on the basis of having
certain expectation (Bicchieri Muldoon). This indicates that when there are no longer any expectations
to follow, people will not maintain the behaviors previously

ABSTRACT
The relationship between language and communication in the business of information encoding and
dissemination cannot be over looked. Despite the fact that the two concepts are different in meaning,
the roles they play are complementary in many ways. Language is a process by which information can
be carried out from one party to another, while communication refers to the chain ... Show more

Bolinger (1975:14), views language as: a system of vocal auditory communication interacting with the
experiences of its users, employing conventional signs composed of arbitrarily patterned sound units
and assembled according to set rules . In another development, Essien (1998:2) sees language as: A
system of structured arbitrary vocal symbols by means of which human beings make meaning and
communicate with each other in a given community.... These definitions recognize the communicative
role of language which is specifically used by human beings for the purpose of interaction. By
implication, language is in essence a perfect means of expression among every known people. It is
important to note that language determines the world view of a people. It is the connection between
language and communication in information delivery for national transformation that is the fulcrum of
this discourse. In as much as human beings use language, communication remains its primary target.
2.1: FUNCTIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF LANGUAGE
These can be seen as some special qualities and role that are common to a typical human language.
Human language is used in a number of functions and topmost among which is communication. In the

Mealybug Lab
INTRODUCTION
Mealybugs are small insects that belong to order Hemiptera and class Pseudococcidae, have 2000
species that belong to 300 genera. Mealy bugs are named because of their waxy material that cover
female body. These soft bodied insects feed by sucking plants and belong to largest scale insects
family (Miller and Williams, 1997; Downie and Gullan, 2004). Mealybugs are sexually dimorphic,
Males are winged and can fly easily while females are wingless and can t complete metamorphosis.
Males have two long pairs of white waxy tails. Male mouth parts are non functional and live just for
short time 2 4 days (Anonymous, 2008). Research Objective

Christian Counseling Goals
Part 1: Christian Counseling goals Compared to Secular Counseling Goals
The main goal in Christian counseling is to get the individual to move over to Christ, and then to
move up to glorification. By doing this they allow themselves to let God to start healing their personal
problems. In a sense it is similar to the, rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) model. Even
though, this model was created to be an atheistic model that did not require God to intervene, the main
premise of the model is to help allow the client to realize if they change their inner thought proses it
will allow them to effect change. However, this model can be used to manipulate the client s religious
and personal beliefs. Just like any tool in the world today it can ... Show more content on

Zoos And The Conservation Of Animals
A family is enjoying a trip to their local zoo when they stop to look at the tigers. The child sprints over
to exhibit with excitement; he notices a red sign stuck the glass of the enclosure which reads,
Endangered. Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let
them back into the wild to live free? Based on statistics from public zoos across America, the
unfortunate answer to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos
are not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals should not be
kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animal species, provide little or no education
about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the animals physically and mentally.
Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain species would
become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately fail at the conservation of animal
species. Animals who are endangered will likely never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos:
Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no
contact of any kind with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to
zoos, they are likely to remain there. One U.S. study found no compelling evidence for zoos and
aquariums to make the claim that they promote interest of conservation upon conversing with

Superstring Theories
My interests in physics surround the central theme of developing a unified description of the
fundamental laws of the universe that is based on underlying symmetries and devoid of free,
dimensionless parameters. Superstring theories are one class of theory that endeavours to provide such
a description. My graduate research has included projects in both theoretical developments using type
IIB supergravity (SUGRA), as well as its application via the AdS/CFT correspondence.
A string theory description of a standard model type theory is only made possible by the intro duction
of D branes as sources of background flux in compact extra dimensions. The dynamics of the D
branes and the fluxes supported by the branes themselves are ... Show more content on

We showed that including backreacting D3 branes in warped compactifications did not produce
divergences in the effective action and so represented a consistent theory from dimensional reduction.
Due to the self duality of the five form field strength (i.e. F5 = ⋆F5), we were able to describe the D3
brane compensators in terms of either electric like charge sources via d ⋆ F5 = ⋆Je with dF5 = 0, or
magnetic like charge sources via dF5 = ⋆Jm with d ⋆ F5 = 0. We further showed that other moduli of
warped compactifications, such as the universal volume modulus and its associated axion considered
in [5], could be recast in terms of electric or magnetic descriptions similar to the D3 branes.
In ongoing work with A. Frey, I am continuing to develop the description of monopole like sources in
extra dimensions. As an application, we consider a magnetic monopole in Minkowski spacetime. By
writing the field strength as the sum of a local source term plus a global total derivative, we are able to
derive the magnetic analogue of the Lorentz force law without the need of non physical dual
potentials.
One of the most widely recognized results to come from string theory is the gauge/gravity cor
respondence [6]. The most famous AdS/CFT duality is between classical gravitation in AdS5×S5 and
a superYang Mills SU(N) gauge theory living on the conformal boundary of AdS5. However, the
duality exists more

Joan Didion On Religious Diversity
This semester has felt how Joan Didion describes her time in New York City in Goodbye to All That,
how six months can become eight years with the deceptive ease of a film dissolve (Didion). The
semester has flown by. It is something I have come to call the time warp of college, when days
become weeks and last week felt like four weeks ago, but four weeks ago felt like yesterday. In my
opinion, it is a beautiful phenomenon. On the surface I am still the same person I was in August, but
internally I am different. Not a bad different, but an improved different. It is like when Apple released
the iPhone 7 and you did not know how it is different from the iPhone 6. The differences are small
technical things that are only significant to a select ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion the research paper is the keystone to Writing 100, it tests everything you learned
throughout the semester; but at the same time, the research paper was an ongoing process. Even
comparing the draft of my research paper to the final version of my research paper, I see stark
differences in my use of sources and source integration. A section from my first draft that discusses
tolerances of religious diversity goes:
There is an obvious difference between religions being accepted and being tolerated. Tolerance is a
virtue that involves self restraint of one s self to maintain peace en contrast to fully recognizing and
respecting different ideas, people, and beliefs (Tiedemann, 85). Tolerance is a baseline attitude
towards things one opposes; it is effortless and solely requires one to not explicitly impinge on another
s way of life. (Wilhelm 2) Initially I thought the section was fine, but it was just the iPhone 6. It does
the job it is supposed to do; it explains what tolerance is and touches on how it is different from
acceptance. It could have been worse, it could have been the iPhone 5 or 4. But, you always want the
newest and best version of the iPhone, right? So, I had to improve it and add the things that would
make it the iPhone 7 or at least the 6s. The final version goes as

Ecotourism In See The Planet, Save The Planet
Most people hear the word ecotourism and immediately tune out because they assume it does not
apply to them. Well you know what happens when someone assumes. The facts are that at a point in
someone s life their parents dragged them to go on a tour of a some sort of nature. The parents
probably told them not to hurt it and in doing so they have been an ecotourist! Ecotourism is
responsible travel to natural areas or nature based areas that conserves the environment and preserves
the well being of local people. Some ecotourists mess up sometimes and others do not. Although many
people think Ecotourism is butchering the environment, it actually can be beneficial for the

Most people, at some point, try to do something to the best of their ability, yet in the end it does not
end up perfect. No one is perfect so everyone will screw up at one point or another. In Eviana
Hartmans s article See The Planet, Save The Planet she explains that one of the most common thing
people do, which is one of the worst environmental actions you can do , is buy a plane ticket. The
carbon emission from the plane are very harmful to the environment, yet 1,731,342 ride on an airplane
a day. Most people do not know the harm a plane can do to the environment. The carbon that is
released into the atmosphere traps heat which is most known as climate change. In Katy Koontz s
article Is Ecotourism Killing The Golden Goose she explains that locals are encouraged to protect
their resources and provide quality goods and services rather than pursue environmentally damaging
activities . They are starting to try to change the things that they do to lower the harm they are doing to
the environment. They are minimizing the carbon footprint that they are putting on the Earth. There
are many different activities you can do that will not hurt the environment. In Katy Koontz s article
she explains that some Guides seeking bug tips reportedly drive off the road, harassing wildlife in an
attempt to give tourists a closer look at the animals . People s greed may mean the end of the healthy
environment that we live in today. People willing to hurt the Earth for a few extra dollars need to
change the way that they think because that is not healthy or right. We only have one earth. Yet later in
Katy Koontz s article she says that some eco tour operators are preparing people to look with new
eyes at what they see or have a new consciousness . All people need to do is change the way that they
think about the environment. They need to think of the world

The Time Machine, H. G. Wells
In The Time Machine, H. G. Wells explores the Victorian elements of 19th century society through
symbolism in the novel s depiction of the environment. Wells depicts the Time Machine as an
impractical and extravagant construction in order to criticize the Victorian values which the Machine
embodies. The White Sphinx, a statue the Time Traveler encounters when he travels the future, serves
as symbol of the decay and death of the Victorian ideals. The Time Traveler s description of the Palace
of Green Porcelain, a symbol Victorian extravagance, suggests that the Victorian ideal will fail
because of its indulgence and superficiality. In The Time Machine, H. G. Wells uses the symbolism of
environments in order to convey his criticism of the Victorian ideal as an indulgent and superficial
system of values that will lead failure. Wells depicts the Victorian ideal as impractical by describing
the Time Machine as having extravagant Victorian features. The Time Machine is first introduced
when the Time Traveler invites his guests, a variety of respectable men including the narrator, into his
laboratory. The narrator describes the machine, focusing on its extravagant materials: Parts were of
nickel, parts of ivory, parts had certainly been filed or sawn out of rock crystal. The thing was
generally complete, but the twisted crystalline bars lay unfinished upon the bench... (Chapter 1).

The House of Seven Gables as a Gothic Novel Essay
The House of Seven Gables as a Gothic Novel
To be a paradigm of a Gothic novel, The House of Seven Gables needs to include many elements, all
which center on the ideas of gloom, horror, and mystery. The action of a Gothic novel takes place in a
run down, abandoned or occupied, mansion or castle, which often include secret passages, doors, and
compartments (Encarta). The mansion also adds its own flavor and variety to the atmosphere of
mystery and suspense in the novel by providing a dark and gloomy setting where the story takes place.
The basis of mystery and suspense in the atmosphere of the novel feeds off of an unexplained or
supernatural event in the present or from past generations (Harris). The unexplained ... Show more

The inclusion of the elements of suspense, mystery, and gloom in a novel, along with the occurrence
of supernatural and unexplained events, provide support for the novel as a Gothic piece of literature.
By including all the elements, which standardize the content and atmosphere of the novel in the The
House of Seven Gables, Nathaniel Hawthorne develops an exemplary example of a Gothic piece of
literature.
To be considered a Gothic novel, The House of Seven Gables needs to first fulfill the requirements of
the setting, including a once aristocratic run down mansion or castle with many secret doors, passages,
and compartments. The elements in the setting produce effects in the development of the mysterious
and gloomy atmosphere. In the early years of the Pyncheon family, Colonel Pyncheon steals the
domicile and land of Mathew Maule out of greed and fulfillment of his superiority as an aristocrat.
Colonel Pyncheon constructs the House of Seven Gables on Pyncheon Street, over the grave of the
restless Mathew Maule, inheriting the curse of death within its walls. The anathema of death Mathew
Maule sentences the residents House of Seven Gables to results in a scarcity of inhabitants, due to the
fear for their lives, and therefore the house becomes extremely dark and lonesome to the later

Regret By Kate Chopin
Much of Kate Chopin s writing examines the issues of freedom and autonomy, often in terms of class,
race and gender. Although race was the clearest indication of lower class status in the American South
in the late 19th century, women meanwhile belonged to a subset of each class such that the men held
the legal and social authority. Women of each class were subordinate citizens. The majority of women
did not manage their own property, possessions tended to be passed down to sons rather than
daughters and women s role in society was limited to being wives and mothers. Chopin s
independence of spirit is reflected in how she embraced liberation after her husband s death: she took
over the running of his general store and plantation for over a year and after she sold up, to support
herself and her young family, she began to write. In her writing, Chopin often depicts characters who
find themselves at odds with their societal norms like the story Regret which was written in 1894 and
accurately fits into the ideal as it presents a woman who gives the impression that she is at ease with
her life however new attitudes arise as she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why I Want Become A Paralegal
It is a task in itself for one, such as myself, to allow another to fully grasp the principle of why I want
to become a paralegal, let alone explain it within three pages without simply stating, I desire to use the
set of skills and passion that I possess in order to help others while working within this specific field
of law. Nevertheless, the reality of the fact is that it is purely the essence and core of why I have the
drive and determination to work towards becoming a paralegal. I wish I could say, like many other
have in the past and present, that I had always wanted to pursue a career in legal studies, but that is not
the case here. As I entered university a mere five years ago, I came with the impression that I would
obtain a Bachelor in History and eventually secure a position in the field of law. If that were to fail, I
would become a Professor of History. That is not to say that teaching is not a noble and integral part of
our society, which it indefinitely is; it would be an honour for anyone to teach however it was never
truly for me. The fact is, about a year into university, I quickly realized/comprehended/recognized that
teaching would simply be a scapegoat for the circumstance that I had yet to figure out what particular
profession that I wanted to aim for in law. Needless to say it was a frightening conclusion for myself

All Behavior Caused By External Stimuli Operant Conditioning
All behavior caused by external stimuli operant conditioning). All behavior can be explained without
the need to consider internal mental states or consciousness. John B. Watson, Ivan Pavlov, B.F.
Skinner, are Classical conditioning Pavlov, Operant conditioning, Stimulus response that assumes a
learner is essentially passive, responding to environmental stimuli. The learner starts off as a clean
slate and behavior is shaped through positive reinforcement or negative reinforcement. Both positive
reinforcement and negative reinforcement increase the probability that the antecedent behavior will
happen again. In contrast, punishment both positive and negative decreases the likelihood that the
antecedent behavior will happen again. Positive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the meat powder and bell were presented together several times, the bell was used alone. Pavlov
s dogs, as predicted, responded by salivating to the sound of the bell without the food. The bell began
as a neutral stimulus (i.e. the bell itself did not produce the dogs. However, by pairing the bell with the
stimulus that did produce the salivation response, the bell was able to acquire the ability to trigger the
salivation response. Pavlov therefore demonstrated how stimulus response are formed. He dedicated
much of the rest of his career further exploring this finding. In technical terms, the meat powder is
considered an unconditioned stimulus and the dog s salivation is the unconditioned response. The bell
is a neutral stimulus until the dog learns to associate the bell with food. Then the bell becomes a
conditioned stimulus which produces the conditioned response of salivation after repeated pairings
between the bell and food. John B. Watson further extended Pavlov s work and applied it to human
beings. Around 1921, Watson studied Albert, an 11 month old infant child. The goal of the study was
to condition Albert to become afraid of a white rat by pairing the white rat with a very loud noise.
Behavior modification is a technique concerning the change in the undesired behavior and enhancing
desired behavior. It is an approach that aims to modify the behavior of a

Drill and discipline, are what make it possible for a victory in battle. If warriors going into battle are
not accurately trained in the practice of drill and discipline it can result in a mere senseless blood
brawl ending with large amounts of casualties and grave losses. In the battle of Agincourt 1415 is was
a battle between King Henry V of England whom wanted to reclaim lands both won and lost during
the previous century from France which was under the rule of King Charles VI although the army

Moreover, though their Calvary was great it was foolish to send them off against archers though the

battle must have put pressure of numbers and desperation [which evenly] caused the French to spill
from their columns resulting an unorganized and disastrous attack against the English. In the battle of
Waterloo there are noticeable changes compared to the battle of Agincourt besides the change in
weapons. The first is the size and organization of military units on the field as show in John Keegan s
diagram, cavalry and infantry are spread throughout the field with artillery placed within infantry
units, this is has created a spread out line rather than a tight knit line used in the battle of Agincourt,
allowing more movement and opportunity to inflict more damage on the enemy. The second
noticeable difference is the men used in battle, rather than it being aristocratic vassals of the king and

Logistics Design Alternatives to United Parcel Service
The United Parcel Service is one of the largest companies in the global courier delivery service
industry, with a net income of about $3 billion and revenues exceeding $53 billion. Headquartered in
the United States, a large part of UPS s market share and revenues come from the business it conducts
in Europe. The logistics design of UPS has three distinct functions, consolidation, distribution, and
fragmentation. Consolidation is the collection of parcels to then be sent to distribution. Distribution
works on a hub to hub basis with distance determining what mode of transportation will be used (Air
or Ground). Fragmentation is the final design step in the UPS logistics design, combined with
consolidation for the most part; this function is where products are delivered to their final destination.
These basic functions have kept UPS a world leader in the logistics field and well ahead of their
competitors. Benjamin Franklin once said Without continual growth and progress, such words as
improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning (Brainy quote, 2014). UPS is continually
striving to improve their logistical operations. With over 90,000 ground vehicles in the UPS fleet, it is
hard to imagine how much money they are spending on gasoline. The fragmentation and consolidation
function of UPS make up the majority of the vehicle usage within UPS, they have set fuel efficiency
goals for their fleet aiming for a 20% increase in MPG between the years 2000 and 2020.

Keeping My Sales Manager s Offer Changed Everything, For A...
Refusing my sales manager s offer changed everything, for a short time anyway. Until then, I d been
working hard to implement the principles that my father had taught me, believing that it was only
through a strong relationship with my customers that my own sales would grow. But after taking my
stand against an early dismissal from the race, I picked up my pace considerably. I worked longer
hours, getting to work long before anyone else did. I did more cold calling, enough to keep my sales
manager from breathing down my neck. But mostly I spent more time getting to better know my
customers. Following my father s advice, I started building a profile on each of them. How much

My dad attributed much of his success to this ritual. Now I followed his lead, doing the same thing
with my own customers, though I opted for using my laptop computer instead of a spiral bound
notebook.
Unfortunately, none of this hard work coincided with any new orders. After the big sale from Nick
Mathus, I kept flooding my territory with more proposals, but not one came back with a yes attached.
For weeks, while I reveled in getting to know more about my customers than ever before, the prospect
of reaching my quota did not change much at all. Even with the Mathus order, the dream of saving my
job was still so very far away.
It was no wonder, then, that the feelings of remorse slowly crept into my head, arriving under cover of
night, and sprang upon me as I woke on the Monday morning that marked the start of the final three
weeks of the contest. Lying in bed, eyes fixed to the ceiling, I was frozen with questions and doubts
for which I suddenly had no answers. Why had I said no to my sales manager s offer? Why had I
turned down an offer to start finding another job while still being able to draw a paycheck? What had I
been thinking? Finding the inner strength to stick out the contest to the end was certainly noble. But

Dental Hygiene Reflection
In elementary school, one of my favorite days in grade school would be when my mom came in for
her oral hygiene lessons. Even though my mom could have easily demonstrated proper techniques on
how to brush and floss teeth with a dental model for my classes, she knew how excited I would always
get when she called on me to personally demonstrate. I would brush in confidence those tooth
surfaces, at a 45 degree angle and with small circular strokes. Promptly in the lesson, I would put the
toothbrush vertically for those inside surfaces of my front teeth. My mom would end the brushing
technique with a friendly reminder to brush for a full two minutes, twice a day. She also told the kids
to think of triangles and to floss along the mesial and distal surfaces of their teeth, rather than straight
down and cutting their gums. With every upcoming yearly demonstration, I honed that routine of
mine, ensuring to my classmates the best way to keep the plague out. Even to this day, I have still got
my middle school sketchbook in my desk drawer, where I had illustrated the cover as, Dr. Pham, DDS

known to be as, The Office. In the day to day, I strove to follow my dad s office procedures. Imagine,
my young, impressionable self holding onto the large suction and water syringe as a patient s wisdom
were extracted; gums cut, that red blood flowing throughout the procedure. However, as I

The Summer Reading Assignment Mindset
When I first read the email about the summer reading assignment Mindset, my expectations about

a college student seemed like a dream, but for my friend it turned out to be a horrific nightmare that
she was lucky enough to escape and start the process of healing from. But for many victims they are
not able to do so.

the four letter word itself. Censorship limits free speech, and it is used constantly today. In South Park
s situation, the writers use logic and evidence to express their opinions on controversial issues, and
people think that it should be censored. Just because the show uses morally questionable techniques,
does not mean that it is useless. In fact, South Park has taught people a lot; it changes our point of

These groups do not only criticize the use of profanity in South Park.
Another huge controversy South Park has created is their depiction of religion. South Park has
parodied almost every major religion so it is understandable that many people are offended. In the
episode, Trapped in the Closet, South Park basically calls Scientology a global scam. The LDS church
responded to the episode, All About Mormons, by calling it a gross portrayal of the LDS church. The
creators of South Park claim that any topic is subject to ridicule, but, because of the Jyllands Posten
Muhammad cartoons controversy, South Park has censored images of Muhammad. While they have
not been able to ridicule Islam directly, which is something that the creators never planned to do until
this controversy arose they still mock the censorship controversy itself. Christianity is, by far, the most
often parodied religion in South Park. Arguably, the most offensive parody South Park has done
involving Christianity is the depiction of Jesus. In South Park, Jesus has his own talk show and
appears to be just ordinary. As a recurring character, South Park s Jesus has engaged in acts of

The creative strategies I applied in rendering the text into English:
In rendering this literary text in Arabic into English, I used a range of creative strategies, so as to
retain the literary nature of the text, while shifting it from the original language to the target language.
The first strategy I used is to focus on meaning of the full sentences, rather than the meaning of
individual words. As explained by Alexander Pope (2002), the most important task of translation is
about realization of the meaning and finding the suitable way for conveying the meaning from one
language to another.
The second strategy I used is to keep faithful to the source text, by keeping the same meanings the
author of the original text meant to convey, which is known as fidelity . Also, I tried to use equivalent
vocabulary and grammatical patterns to those used in the source text, which is called equivalence .
The third strategy I used is to solve semantic complexity of some Arabic concepts, by focusing on
their meanings, and by converting them to the nearest meanings in the target language.
The fourth strategy I used is to consider the differences in form and structure of sentences between the
Arabic and English languages. I did that by reviewing the structure of the English text and
proofreading it for making sure the structure of sentences is grammatically

This book which was written with the KGB archives formed the most complete source of soviet
espionage in America. Co author of the book Alexander Vassiliev was given access to stalin era
records and material of Soviet espionage activity against the United States. Haynes also presented a
webcast for this book through the Library of Congress. In the Webcast Haynes spoke about the
background information of his book Spies. Haynes also explained the different sources he used to
write the book, and the validity of those sources. Watching the webcast I learned the importance of
having multiple primary sources when writing a book about history. Not only are primary sources
important, but being able to connect those primary sources to one another proves the information is

caused by human development, it shows a greater awareness of the undesirable and potentially
destructive tendencies exhibited by conventional methods of design, planning and construction.
Robert Davis, board chairman of the Congress for the New Urbanism, describes the problem of urban

The Congress for New Urbanism is an organization composed of builders, planners, and designers
dedicated to setting up a formula for future development and the betterment of existing communities.
By addressing the problems of disinvestment in central cities, the spread of placeless sprawl, increased
separation by race and income, environmental deterioration, loss of agricultural land and wilderness,
and the erosion of societies built heritage (http://www.cnu.org/nunjuly98.html) they plan to reinvest in
current urban centers and towns by restructuring the expanding suburbs into more traditional
communities. As a part of the solution, The Congress for New Urbanism created the New Urbanist

environment. Specifically, the charter states that development patterns should not blur or eradicate the

resources, economic investment, and social fabric, while reclaiming marginal and abandoned areas.
Metropolitan regions should develop strategies to encourage such infill development over peripheral

Every individual whether they are aware of it or not, base their decision making on some form of

In the case of the real estate data, the variables are the price, size, and the number of bedrooms in a
residence. These variables have physical measurements that can be easily verified.
Measurement Scale for Each Variable Accordingly, to test the hypothesis, the variables that will be
analyzed will be the selling price of the house, the square footage size of the house, and the number of
bedrooms of the house. These are the intervals encompassed in Team A s hypothesis. However, Team
A will also measure other variables connected to outcomes not stated in the hypothesis, such location
(for instance distance and time from house to center of town) and desirable amenities. To test the
above mentioned variables Team A will need to select specific measurement scales for them. The four
types of measurement scales are nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. The depth of sophistication
increases as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale. In other words, the ratio and the
interval scales offer more detailed information on variables than do the ordinal and the nominal scales.
That is to say, as one moves from the nominal scale to the ratio scale, one moves from the general to
the more specific, and the more specific information a scale yields, the more powerful it is. The more
powerful scales, provide the possibility of performing in depth, meaningful analysis so that more

chemical industries. The Preservation is on the Deviantart.com, created by (Shortcircuit123), also
known as Paul, a twenty year old male from south Netherland and studying art at ABK Maastricht. He

Also, how it displays the overpowering of death, destruction, and darkness. This piece of digital art
can be compared to a similar painting on Italianrenaissance.org, The Creation of Adam, a painting in
the Sistine Chapel created by Michelangelo in 1512. In this work, God s right arm is outstretched to
reveal the spark of life from his own finger into that of Adam, whose left arm is extended in a position
reflecting God s, a reminder that man is formed in the reflection and resemblance of God. Another
point is that Adam s finger and God s finger are not touching. It gives the sense that God, the provider
of life, is extending out to Adam who has yet to accept it. In the preservation piece the two arms
represent humanity, and the left arm is covered with earth and all living creations of God. The right
arm is covered by a world full of fire, burning from the inside out. Another point is the left side has
blue skies showing a sign tranquility, relaxation, and peace, with white clouds. The color white is to
represent Innocence and purity. While the right has, black smoke filled clouds coming from a refinery
created by man, black shows to absorb all aspects of light and signify power, and fear. Looking at the
two hands with the fingers extended out the right hand shows the pointer finger soaked and dripping
oil into the world causing

Ellen Degeneres Satire Essay
As Anne Frank once wisely stated, How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before
starting to improve the world (citation???). She probably was not thinking of satire in entertainment
when she wrote this, but I think it fits perfectly. Satire is a technique that aims to reform society, often
times through humor (I used parts of definitions from pdf... how do I cite it). There are popular
television shows that employ this technique in order to better the world. In Ellen Degeneres daytime
talk show she satirizes politicians through a skit that pokes fun at people who are against issues such
as: gay marriage and reaching across the aisle. The Ellen Show is famous for its humorous interviews,
monologues, and skits. In one particular segment, Degeneres pretended to be candidate in a 2016
Republican Presidential Debate. This statement alone proves the use of farce because it is both
improbable and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this skit, she imitates a serious situation, the presidential debate, in order to comedically ridicule it.
For example, one of the moderators asks the candidates what they would do in order to win enough
independent and democratic support to become the next president, to which Degeneres responds that
she would support both sides of the aisle. The other candidates look angry or confused; then, she
claims that the best support is Ellen Underwear and they all nod their heads in agreement. This
satirizes people who are followers and just go along with what other people tell them. It also satirizes
politicians against reaching across the aisle because it appears that they do not have a good reason to
be unsupportive of this. Degeneres is making a statement that a politician has the potential to be more
successful if they are willing to work with everyone. All of what Degeneres says is lighthearted,
however the audience understands that she is working to reform

The Great Plains Indians
The Great Plains was the home of thousands of Indians. The Great Plains Indians is a tribe that still
lives in part of the North of the United States and Canada. This tribe is also known as the Sioux s, a
tribe that still lives in this territory. Indian tribes struggle every day because they do not have
recourses. They do not live a normal life because most of them have diabetes which makes their life
expectancy shorter than other Americans. Males tend to live till the age of 48 and females to the age of
52 which is not normal for Americans. Some of the factors that affect this life expectancy are low
income and their nutrition. Most Indians only make about $8,000 per years, that is not even one third
of what a normal American makes per year.

Physical Causes And Complications Of Polycystic Ovary...
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive
age and is caused by an imbalance of a woman s female sex hormones, resulting in higher levels of the
male hormone, androgen and have irregular periods.
The ovaries may develop numerous small collections of fluid (follicles) and fail to regularly release
eggs. This makes it difficult for women to get pregnant.
The presence of androgen may result in physical signs, such as excess facial and body hair (hirsutism),
occasionally severe acne and male pattern baldness.
Due to the hormone imbalance, a woman with PCOS is more prone to developing diabetes and heart
issues.

regulate estrogen. Effective hormone regulation can lower your risk of endometrial cancer and reduce
abnormal bleeding, excess hair growth and acne.

  • 2. My Trip To NYU Pediatric Dentistry Alright class, we re going to take a visit to the NYU Pediatric Dentistry. That was my preschool teacher s voice ringing through the 4 year old me before our trip. It was an unusual trip because when permission slips were handed out, we thought it was a tour of the facility but we were wrong. It was a dentist appointment for each of us who attended. Upon arrival, it didn t occur to me that fear crept into the minds of the others because I was so amazed at what lied ahead of me. The neat structures of every machine, the unity of the staff, and the knowledge of each dentist amazed me. It felt like I entered somewhere I see myself in fifteen years. Growing up, I was limited to certain schools due to distance and my mom s rating list. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Effective Control Capacity Of Administration After strategies are planned and arrangements are made, management s essential assignment is to make moves to guarantee that these arrangements are done, or, if conditions warrant, that the arrangements are adjusted. This is the discriminating control capacity of administration. Also since administration includes guiding the exercises of others, a real piece of the control capacity are verifying other individuals do what ought to be done. In numerous circumstances, a control framework manufactured around estimation and criticism is not attainable. Furthermore actually when plausibility is not a restriction, utilization of an input situated control framework is frequently a second rate result. Yet, great controls might be made and kept up utilizing different procedures. In the event that all work forces dependably did what was best for the association, control and even administration would not be required (Krajewski, 2007). However, clearly people are once in a while incapable or unwilling to act in the association s best investment, and a set of controls must be actualized to make preparations for undesirable conduct and to empower alluring activities. One paramount class of issues against which control frameworks guard may be called individual constraints. Individuals don t generally comprehend what is anticipated from them or how they can best perform their employments, as they may fail to offer some imperative capacity, preparing, or data. It is important to understand the fact that obesity is not just being fat or having a BMI i.e. Body Mass Index greater than that of an overweight person. Obesity is a serious problem that can fatally damage the physical as well as mental health of a person. While all of us understand how obesity can affect the physical health, a few of us know how mental health is affected due to obesity. A person suffering from obesity is termed as obese. Such a person is usually a victim of mockery and insult due to his appearance. No matter how educated we are we as a society have failed to keep in account the fact that obese people are also humans and deserve to be treated normally. The unequal treatment for the obese along with the comments consisting of insults and mockery combined together to form a state of mental instability in the obese person. This results in a higher rate of anxiety and depression in the obese. The severity of depression is sometimes so high that it results in suicide attempts. Obese people are generally viewed by the others as the annoyed people. A dependency is built on this civil life, and people find it difficult to live their lives without rules and order. The children in William Golding s Lord of the Flies come from a life like this, from school in England. When this orderly life, full of expectations and civility, is taken away from them, they are forced to adapt and reach for their most basic human instincts. They attempt to maintain a grip on societal structures but eventually slip into a violent fight for survival. As the earliest of humans did, the boys live without society or civilization shaping their behavior. The deepest instincts of humans are based on those behaviors developed and utilized by the earliest of humans. When societal structure and social expectations are stripped away, humans will revert to their deepest and most primal instincts. People will often conform to social norms, but they will stop when they are no longer expected to. It is easy for people to just follow what everybody else is doing and what they are expected to do; this is what society is built on and how civilization stays intact. According to a 2011 Stanford University philosophy article: We prefer to comply with the norm on the basis of having certain expectation (Bicchieri Muldoon). Daddy, if the zoo is keeping the tigers in a cage in order to save them, when will they let them back into the wild to live free? Based on statistics from public zoos across America, the unfortunate answer to this question is a resounding Never. It has become noticeably evident that zoos are not a current resource for the protection of rare and endangered species. Animals should not be kept in zoos, because they fail at the conservation of animal species, provide little or no education about habitat and the behavior of animals, and harm the animals physically and mentally. Primarily, zoos fail at the conservation of animal species. Zoos claim that certain species would become extinct if places like zoos did not exist, but they ultimately fail at the conservation of animal species. Animals who are endangered will likely never be released back into natural habitats ( Zoos: Pitiful Prisons par. 9). The Author of Captive Animal Protection Society states, Many zoos have no contact of any kind with any reintroduction program, meaning that once the animals are introduced to zoos, they are likely to remain there. We showed that including backreacting D3 branes in warped compactifications did not produce divergences in the effective action and so represented a consistent theory from dimensional reduction. Due to the self duality of the five form field strength (i.e. F5 = ⋆F5), we were able to describe the D3 brane compensators in terms of either electric like charge sources via d ⋆ F5 = ⋆Je with dF5 = 0, or magnetic like charge sources via dF5 = ⋆Jm with d ⋆ F5 = 0. We further showed that other moduli of warped compactifications, such as the universal volume modulus and its associated axion considered in [5], could be recast in terms of electric or magnetic descriptions similar to the D3 branes. In ongoing work with A. Frey, I am continuing to develop the description of monopole like sources in extra dimensions. As an application, we consider a magnetic monopole in Minkowski spacetime. • 21. Regret By Kate Chopin Much of Kate Chopin s writing examines the issues of freedom and autonomy, often in terms of class, race and gender. Although race was the clearest indication of lower class status in the American South in the late 19th century, women meanwhile belonged to a subset of each class such that the men held the legal and social authority. Women of each class were subordinate citizens. The majority of women did not manage their own property, possessions tended to be passed down to sons rather than daughters and women s role in society was limited to being wives and mothers. Chopin s independence of spirit is reflected in how she embraced liberation after her husband s death: she took over the running of his general store and plantation for over a year and after she sold up, to support herself and her young family, she began to write. In her writing, Chopin often depicts characters who find themselves at odds with their societal norms like the story Regret which was written in 1894 and accurately fits into the ideal as it presents a woman who gives the impression that she is at ease with her life however new attitudes arise as she ... However, by pairing the bell with the stimulus that did produce the salivation response, the bell was able to acquire the ability to trigger the salivation response. In technical terms, the meat powder is considered an unconditioned stimulus and the dog s salivation is the unconditioned response. The bell is a neutral stimulus until the dog learns to associate the bell with food. The first is the size and organization of military units on the field as show in John Keegan s diagram, cavalry and infantry are spread throughout the field with artillery placed within infantry units, this is has created a spread out line rather than a tight knit line used in the battle of Agincourt, allowing more movement and opportunity to inflict more damage on the enemy. The second noticeable difference is the men used in battle, rather than it being aristocratic vassals of the king and their vassals, it was men as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Logistics Design Alternatives to United Parcel Service The United Parcel Service is one of the largest companies in the global courier delivery service industry, with a net income of about $3 billion and revenues exceeding $53 billion. Headquartered in the United States, a large part of UPS s market share and revenues come from the business it conducts in Europe. The logistics design of UPS has three distinct functions, consolidation, distribution, and fragmentation. Consolidation is the collection of parcels to then be sent to distribution. Distribution works on a hub to hub basis with distance determining what mode of transportation will be used (Air or Ground). Fragmentation is the final design step in the UPS logistics design, combined with consolidation for the most part; this function is where products are delivered to their final destination. These basic functions have kept UPS a world leader in the logistics field and well ahead of their competitors. Benjamin Franklin once said Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning (Brainy quote, 2014). UPS is continually striving to improve their logistical operations. With over 90,000 ground vehicles in the UPS fleet, it is hard to imagine how much money they are spending on gasoline. The fragmentation and consolidation function of UPS make up the majority of the vehicle usage within UPS, they have set fuel efficiency goals for their fleet aiming for a 20% increase in MPG between the years 2000 and 2020. ... Until then, I d been working hard to implement the principles that my father had taught me, believing that it was only through a strong relationship with my customers that my own sales would grow. But after taking my stand against an early dismissal from the race, I picked up my pace considerably. I worked longer hours, getting to work long before anyone else did. I did more cold calling, enough to keep my sales manager from breathing down my neck. But mostly I spent more time getting to better know my customers. For weeks, while I reveled in getting to know more about my customers than ever before, the prospect of reaching my quota did not change much at all. Even with the Mathus order, the dream of saving my job was still so very far away. It was no wonder, then, that the feelings of remorse slowly crept into my head, arriving under cover of night, and sprang upon me as I woke on the Monday morning that marked the start of the final three weeks of the contest. Lying in bed, eyes fixed to the ceiling, I was frozen with questions and doubts for which I suddenly had no answers. Why had I said no to my sales manager s offer? Why had I turned down an offer to start finding another job while still being able to draw a paycheck? What had I been thinking? Even though my mom could have easily demonstrated proper techniques on how to brush and floss teeth with a dental model for my classes, she knew how excited I would always get when she called on me to personally demonstrate. I would brush in confidence those tooth surfaces, at a 45 degree angle and with small circular strokes. Promptly in the lesson, I would put the toothbrush vertically for those inside surfaces of my front teeth. My mom would end the brushing technique with a friendly reminder to brush for a full two minutes, twice a day. The LDS church responded to the episode, All About Mormons, by calling it a gross portrayal of the LDS church.
