The Social Impact Of Edward Murrow
There have been many issues with journalists being honest or dishonest in our generation. Not all of
journalist are bad, there are many great ones who have impacted society in positive ways. Journalism
is the activity or profession of writing for magazines, newspapers, news websites, or they prepare
news stories to be broadcasted to the public (Journalism.org). Edward Murrow said, To be persuasive
we must be believable; to be believable we must be credible; credible we must be truthful. This holds
true because the world does not want to hear false stories, they want to hear credible ones, Edward
Murrow shows that by his truthfulness and his dedication to journalism. Murrow has impacted society
in positive ways including his accuracy, political knowledge, and his social impact. Edward Murrow
was born on April 25th, 1908, in Polecat Creek, North Carolina. When he was only six years old, his
family moved across the country to Western Washington which was only thirty miles from the
Canadian border. In nearby Edison, he attended high school and was president of the student body his
senior year. He also succeeded exceptionally on the debate team in high school and was further a
member of the basketball team which won the county championship. After he graduated from high
school, Murrow studied political science, speech, and international relations at Washington State
University. In college he was very active in college politics which would help him for his future. He

Gump Surgery (Gastric Bypass)
When you re learning about something new, such as gastric bypass or stomach surgery, it s easy to feel
overwhelmed by the sheer amount of relevant information available. This informative article should
help you focus on the central points.
Gastric bypass surgery as a whole is not a quick fix for reducing one s weight, but is a lifelong
struggle with strict adherence to the given diets and exercises every day to the letter. This is the reason
why most, if not all, insurance companies have compulsory requirements to safeguard the individual s
health and well being in a long term view. Gastric Bypass is a surgical procession used to assistance a

in Mexico is cheaper thanks to a less expensive labour force and a less litigious society. While Mexico
may seem like a long way to travel for a medical procedure, in truth, for many Americans it is just a
few hours drive. Gastric bypass surgery will help improve the quality of life, health and confidence of
an obese individual but they ll have to deal with the side effect of uncontrollable flatulence / gas. We

Most of this information comes straight from the gastric bypass and stomach surgery pros. Careful
reading to the end virtually guarantees that you ll know what they know.
Gastric bypass insurance can be challenging to apply for, because you have to prove that you really
need the operation for your health. First of all, you should take a look at your insurance policy and
find out if your provider will cover the expenses for your gastric bypass procedure; some companies
mention specifically that they do not cover weight loss procedures. Gastric bypass surgery removes a
majority of the body s B12 absorption system. In addition stomach acid is a major factor in converting
B12 into a form that the body can

Nursing Home Abuse And Neglect
Nursing home residents are often subject to abuse and neglect. But the biggest problem is that nursing
home neglect is often not easy to detect. Part of the problem is that a large majority of nursing home
residents are very old. Some can hardly speak while others may be suffering from dementia or maybe
just too afraid to speak up.
In many cases, nursing home abuse and neglect may not even be evident in any physical form. We all
know that emotional abuse often has no physical scars but can leave massive scars on the inside. There
may be situations where the behavior of the nursing home resident changes but even this can be
overlooked by family and friends as they may dismiss such change to old age or diseases like
dementia or Alzheimer s.
For families of nursing home residents in Middleburg, Florida, it is important to be aware of some
warning signs that your loved one may be a victim of nursing home abuse or neglect. These warning
signs include:
Continued loss of body weight
Frequent skin infections
Bed Sores
Sudden change in personality, fearful, scared, or crying
Withdrawn and not socially interactive
Pressure ulcer
Recurrent falls
Worsening of personal hygiene
Environment not safe like slippery floors, poor lighting, broken furniture, unclean bathroom
If you observe any of these warning signs and are fairly certain that your loved one is being abused or
neglected, call a Middleburg nursing home abuse lawyer as soon as possible. Today many nursing

Examples Of Inhumanity In The Book Night
Have you ever been faced with overwhelming inhumanity?I believe we all have at least once in our
lifetime. In the memoir, Night the narrator Elie Wiesel recounts a moment he saw Three veteran
prisoners, needles in hand, tattooed numbers on our left arms.I became A 7713 (Wiesel 42).The
inhumane circumstances of the camp has lead to being dehumanized. This is just one of the several
themes related to inhumanity circumstances that the book Night describes. Two significant themes
related to inhumanity discussed in the book are about the horrific struggles the Jews have went
through, the dehumanizing and the forced torture they were put through are losing faith/hope and are
feeling unbalanced with who they are. These significiant two things are examples that show how blind
the world is around us in the past and still is till this day and will continue on

Impact Of Joseph Needham On The Historiography Of Chinese...
This paper examines Joseph Needham s impact on the historiography of Chinese Science and
Technology (S T), arguing that his great achievements were marred by an East/West comparative
approach, and that subsequent historians have only partly overcome these restrictions. His multi
volume Science and Civilization in China (1954 ongoing) single handedly thrust China into the
Western dominated historiography. Organized along the disciplinary lines of modern science,
Needham sought to document every scientific concept and technology invented in China, which he
saw as the origin of most knowledge before Europe s Scientific Revolution. For Needham, science in
China (and India, and the Middle East) was like the river that flowed into the sea of ... Show more

Reviewing Needham s life s work in 1984, famed historian Lynn White, Jr. wrote that Needham
seemed to be doing penance for the Opium War, but that One respects the exaggerations of a lover. For
forty five years Joseph Needham has been in intellectual love with China and the Chinese. Needham
took it as his task to document millennia of Chinese science and technology. Bringing forth thousands
of unknown primary and ignored secondary documents, he created a portrait of imperial China as a
stable and inventive civilization, morally superior the later Western empires. Until the sixteenth
century, he demonstrated, the flow of knowledge and technology had mainly gone from East to West.
The European Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution and Industrial Revolution all stood on the
shoulders of Chinese contributions. It was time, Needham argued, to recognize that the West did not
have a monopoly on science:
Surely it would be better to give more attention to the history and values of these non European

intellectual pride which boasts that we are the people, and that wisdom was born with us . Let us take

How Technology Has Changed The Environment
In the last decade, society has become increasingly worried about the impact that humans have on the
environment. Many people believe that climate change is actively going to change the way how
people live in the future. In response to the public concern, many companies are searching for greener
methods of energy output. Instead of coal and gasoline, corporations are becoming more socially
responsible in their actions. For example, long standing establishments like Walmart has installed
LED lighting in all of their stores to cut down on energy consumption and more restaurants are
switching to locally sourced and organic ingredients. Although many companies focus on particular
aspects of their business, a fairly new automobile company is ... Show more content on

Company Overview
For decades, the American car industry was extremely consolidated and large companies such as Ford
and GM. The large car companies have a vast number of assets and could squash any competitor that
tried to enter due to the high barrier to entry of the car industry. Even though these companies had
immense numbers of resources, they still had trouble finding viable fuel sources besides gas. In 2003,
a couple of engineers out of Silicon Valley had an idea that would revolutionize the car industry by
finding a radical new way to power the traditional automobile (About Tesla, 2016).
In Silicon Valley, two experienced engineers, Mark Eberhard and Marc Tappening wanted to build a
more efficient automobile. The two found this small company out in California called AC Propulsion
that created a car named the tzero. The car had a motor that could go 0 60 in 4 seconds and felt like a
sports car. Both were intrigued with the extraordinary technology found in the tzero and decided to
figure out why it was not main stream. Through a little research, they discovered that GM tried to
manufacture an electric automobile named the EV 1, but failed miserably due to marketing troubles.

Why Are We Striving For Survival In The Auschwitz
Striving for survival
What is survival? Survival is the state or fact of continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an
accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances. Humans have been around for approximately 200,000 and
have strived to the maximum to survive. Throughout these years, humans have evolved and adapted to
their surroundings. Humans endeavor to survive.
Striving for survival isn t something new. Human ancestors have been doing this way back since
caveman. They have fought against the weather, diseases, war, etc. The fear of death makes humans
strive for survival. Another reason is that humans have an instinct that tells us automatically to fight
back. Hope is another reason for humans to keep striving. They strive to survive to survive because
they have hope something good awaits them in the future.
To begin with, during the holocaust, many people didn t get the enough food. Starvation was one of
the main reasons why people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the scaffolding, the form of civilization. (Levi). Primo had hope that his something good waits for him

The Red Badge Of Courage Analysis
In Stephen Crane s The Red Badge of Courage, Henry is a youth swept up, at first, in the grandeur of
war. Since he was very young he dreamt of battles. In his boyish imagination they were Vague and
bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and fire. Still, he did not ever foresee that one
day he would be involved in such a great conflict. Whenever he thought of war it was the
romanticized vision of a bygone era: There was a portion of the world s history which he had regarded
as the time of wars, but it, he thought, had been long gone over the horizon and had disappeared
forever. When war breaks out in his generation he is eager to enlist, even against the wishes of his
mother. The novel opens with the young man restlessly waiting with his regiment for the battle to
begin. He s been encamped with his fellow troops so long he can barely stand it. He wants to engage
in the mythic glory or war. Even as he waits he wonders if he will be brave enough to not flee the
reality of conflict. He is of two minds the desire to engage and the fear of his personal disengagement.
Will he prove a coward or will he be like the figures in history that fight to the end? This is the central

Neutrinos Research Paper
Recently, scientists found the first known evidence of oscillating neutrinos, and have come to believe
that they re getting very close to understanding these bizarre particles.
FERMILAB LAUNCHES NEUTRINOS FARTHER
This scientific advancement is the result of Fermilab s ongoing NOvA experiment, which hopes to
uncover the secrets of those elusive particles called neutrinos. The study released its final results
earlier this week. The experiment s gigantic particle detector is capable of detecting neutrinos fired
from an impressive 500 miles distance, but the scientists are having a hard time forming significant
conclusions from this recent success. It s incumbent for these quantum physicists to progress their
theories because to understand which neutrinos are heavier or lighter will help us construct theories
about how these particles accumulate mass. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Department of Energy s Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. For all the people who worked over
the course of a decade on the designing, building, commissioning and operating this experiment, it s

FERMILAB S EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURE
In order to detect these far flung neutrinos, Fermilab s neutrino beam uses an underground detector
capable of measuring the neutrino composition of each shot. After being fired, the neutrinos oscillate
500 miles through the Earth s crust. When one of the neutrinos collides with one of the atoms in the
detector, a signature trail of particles and light is released which is used to identify the neutrino as an
electron, muon or tau. Most neutrinos shot out of Fermilab are composed of muons, but because of
this experimental method, scientists can actually infer how many are transform in transit from muon to
electron.

not the other) to vary the terms of the contract after it has been agreed to (ACL s 25(1)(d)). In order to
void the term under the Act (ACL s 23 (1)), two main requirements must be satisfied: 1. The term

for the airline to then attempt to reintroduce this term of the contract in order to avoid paying a refund
after they subsequently removed him from the flight due to overbooking. In addition, it would also be
unfair to not provide a refund on items purchased (eg accommodation) as missing the Check In

An Analysis of The Story of Rahab Essay
An Analysis of The Story of Rahab
The main point of the story of Rahab is that God rewards people, regardless of their station or past
sins, who put their faith in Him.
The story of Rahab begins when Joshua, after receiving God s command to enter into the Promised
Land, sends two spies into Jericho and the surrounding areas to view the land (Joshua 2:1). The two
spies are discovered in Jericho as they enter Rahab s harlot house. The king of Jericho, being alerted to
their presence, sends for the spies. Rahab hides the two spies on her roof under some flax and sends
the guards out of the city on a wild goose chase. Rahab then tells the spies that everyone in the land is

Jericho was a pagan city so Rahab probably had a lot of business. Notice that she owned and operated
the brothel. Rahab was a successful business woman. She took charge of situations and was able to
make fast, smart decisions. When the guards came to her house she quickly hid the spies on her roof
and made up a clever story to not only throw the search party off but to get them out of Jericho for
three days. Rahab saw a perfect opportunity to save herself from the impending doom and because of
her intelligent and bold actions she was able to take advantage of it. One might even suspect her of
informing the king of the spy s presence.
Rahab s relationship to the spies throughout the story also shows an element of her nature. From the
moment that the spies enter her house and are found out, Rahab has the upper hand in the relationship.
The spies need Rahab to help them. She uses their dependence on her protection and her familiarity
with the city to her advantage. Rahab is a survivor. She looks out for her own skin. The truth of her
supposed religious devotion to the God of the Israelites is questionable. But true or not she had no
problem using that to help her family. Rahab was loyal to her family and would do anything to ensure
her family s safety.
Rahab s dialogue also shows her intelligence. Her talk with the spies reads like a man speaking. Rahab

How Did Giles Corey Change In The Crucible
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what
I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. This is exactly what Giles Corey, John
Proctor and Reverend Hale were trying to do, bring change so things would get better. In Arthur Miller
s play The Crucible, a group of girls began to accuse every honorable person in town of witchcraft.
The witchcraft trials went so far as to hang nineteen innocent people, all because the girls said they
were witches. There were three honorable people, Giles Corey, John Proctor and Reverend Hale who
spoke up about the social injustices, but they were too late. These characters impacted the overall
outcome of the Salem witchcraft trials, but it did not put a stop to them. Giles Corey tried to speak out
and stop the trials, but was evidently pressed to death after not giving up names of other people
wanting it to stop (1226). Giles was primarily focused on the stopping of witchcraft in the beginning
of the play, he even hinted at the fact his wife may be using witchcraft. It discomfits me! Last night

injustice of the hangings. He brought a list to the court with signatures of townspeople who thought
the girls were lying, this contributed with Reverend Hale and his opinion about the lies, and Danforth
made sure to questions the girls more intently. The result of this, although, was not successful because

Cloudstreet By Tim Winton Essay
Writing from residences in countries at great distances from Australia, Winton developed a longing for
his home and more specifically for an Australia of the past. His homesickness made him rediscover
through his memories an Australia which he loved, which was slowing evolving into a country which
was unrecognisable to his childhood. In Cloudstreet, Tim Winton reflects on Australia s landscape
which is quickly being turned into a suburbia which seems disjointed from natural state of the
Australian land. Similarly the culture of the Australian community and sense of camaraderie is
presented as integral to an Australia which Winton is increasingly nostalgic about throughout the
novel.

Oriel, va woman raised in the bosom of the Australian outback, on a farm as the primary care giver of

the people around her almost to the consequence of her own sanity. Winton contrasts this to the Rose s

the new breed of Australians who are populating the rapidly changing Australia. Most strikingly this
contrast in morals is displayed by Toby Raven s lack of decorum in mocking Rose s family back at

A Streetcar Named Desire Film Analysis
In the film A Streetcar Named Desire , the producers do an excellent job of showing how the film
plays with light and dark, illusion and reality, and brutality conflict. Blanche, Stella, Stanly and Mitch
successfully portray the concepts of light vs dark, illusion vs reality, brutality conflict through various
transitions of each. As Blanche arrives at the house of Stella and Stanly, right away you see his mood
go into a very dark place as if he does not want her to be there. Stanly s character in the film comes off
to be very rough and aggressive. The night after Blanche arrived, she meets Stanly s friend Mitch,
who is different from Stanly just by the way he carries himself. Mitch and Blanche catch a glimpse of
each other which brings some light back into her being there. Stella was in support of her sister
blanche meeting Mitch as it may have been an effective way for her to comfortably. Light and dark
effects in a dramatic film play a big part because it sets the tone of the storyline and helps give the
suspension of where the story will go and end up. It can be good for a film to bounce back and forth
from light and dark moments to keep scenes impactful to the viewer. [For example, in the scene where
Blanche buys a cover for the light in the bedroom area, it made her happy, and the others seemed as if
they supported it to make her feel comfortable, and then towards the end of the film when Stanly

Decision Making Skills For Arms Control And Trade
Decision making skills for arms control and trade cover the scientific discovery, ethical and
philosophical decisions and politics. The scientific discovery (history) of arms trade has been around
since the first crq eation of the cannon, but it has only been in the last century has the world seen an
explosion in arms deals. The best way to categorize the history and politics of arms trade is during and
after the Cold War, which began two years after World War II ended in 1945.
During the Cold War there was no global market for arms trade, countries strictly only dealt with who
they considered their allies. With the fall of nazi Germany it left two main superpowers for supplying
arms, the USA and Russia. The US solely dealt and supplied arms with countries like the United
Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Russia being a communist state at the time dealt with countries
that had an influencing communist party in power like Cuba. Both superpowers however competed to
influence destabilized countries in Africa, and in Latin America.
After the Cold War ended in the late 1980 s early 1990 s the world saw a globalization of arms trade
becoming an open market where the USA and Russia are able to deal with whatever country is willing
to buy. Some of the most sought out weapons after the Cold War were nuclear and although there are
only five countries are allowed to possess nuclear weapons, the US, United Kingdom, France, Russia
and China, they are stored in over a dozen countries.

Planning Of Implementation Of Proposed Work Essay
Planning of Implementation of proposed work This plan is the basis for the execution and tracking of
all activities that are components of the project. An iterative life cycle model does not attempt to
initialize with a full specification of requirements. Instead, development of the software begins by
specifying and implementing just part of it, which can then be verified and reviewed in order to
identify further requirements. This process is then repeated many times iteratively, producing a new
version of the software for each cycle of the model by improving it step by step. In iterative model we
are building and improving the product step by step. Hence we can identify the defects at early stages
of the project development. This helps to avoids the downward flow of the defects. In iterative model,
we can get the reliable user feedback time to time. While presenting sketches and blueprints of the
product to users for their valuable feedback, we are effectively asking them to imagine how the
product will work. In iterative model little time is spent on documenting process and more time is
given for designing part. We can use the iterative mode for software development when the
requirements of the complete system are clearly defined and understood and also the project is big
scale. Figure 3.1: Iterative Waterfall Model GHRIET Pune, Department of Computer Engineering,

The Debate Over Gun Control
Never A Win Win The topic of gun control has become very popular in recent years as there is now
more controversy than ever about the role that guns play in today s world. I have come to be interested
in this topic because it seems like not a day goes by anymore where there isn t a newspaper published
with an article slandering either the pro or anti gun control activists. Going into this topic, I was
assuming that I would end up reading about a lot of school shootings and how it is just guns that are
causing so many deaths each year, but there seems to be a bit more to it than that. It really is no
surprise that this topic has become so popular as of late, considering that in 2014 there were roughly
51,000 firearm related incidents, and in 2015 roughly 53,000 incidents. If there is one thing that I for
sure already know, its that guns have a huge impact on our society. There are so many lives that are
impacted by gun related incidents every year that it is nearly impossible to get away from. So the
question stands, are guns a necessary and helpful tool for Americans to wield, or are they the merciless
killing machines that they have been publicized as in recent years? While researching gun control, one
of the first major sources that I found was of course the second amendment to the United States
constitution. The second amendment is as follows, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the

This treaty has 2 main purposes: it aims to improve the working of the Convention, also, ensure that

A difficulty to address this problem
A convention such as CITES can impose total trade bans on certain species. While the reason is
environmentally sound, politicians don t always agree. The reason behind this are the commercial and
economic benefits that countries get out of specific trades. For instance, the main challenge in 2013
was to add to the CITES Appendix II several species of sharks. This proposal faced a strong resistance
from China, Japan and their allies, where the shark fin trade is a tradition, causing horrific changes in
the population of these species. The same problem happened in 2013 during the CoP16 when Canada
rejected the decision to enlist the Polar Bear in the Appendix I, due to its impact on the lives of the

Waknuk s Present Day Women
The women who stray away from the preset quotas on how they must act in society are ridiculed. The
author establishes this issue well in the cases of Sophie Wender, Rosalind Morton, and Aunt Harriet.
These individuals are undoubtedly the most developed emotionally, as well as the most assertive and
genuine representations of present day women, shown throughout the novel. Rosalind and Sophie are
the closest there are to heroines in consideration of the fact they repeatedly confront and fight for their
beliefs in how mutants should be treated. This is a stark contrast to the general representation, which is
one of fearful, timid housewives who only do as their husbands permit them. Nevertheless their way
of acting is considered sinful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earliest display of this social hierarchy is introduced through the story of Elias Strorm, the most
prominent figure in Waknuk s history. In a few seasons he straitened the coltishness with admonitions,
faded the pink and gold with preaching, and produced a sad, grey wraith of wifehood who died,
unprotesting, a year after her second son was born (1616). One could even argue that Elias s wife died
twice, once when Elias drilled and beat her into the mold of a submissive housewife, and finally when
her heart stopped beating. This imagined ideal of how a proper wife must act did not die with Elias, as
Joseph Strorm decided to not make the same mistake with his wife. Emily Strorm, while being slightly
less frail and decrepit than Elias s wife, she is still at the same mercy to Joseph as Elias s wife was to
him. When David was beaten by Joseph Emily was unable to anything other than cry as she dressed
his wounds. Emily, Elias s wife, as well as all other women in the novel (even to an extent in the
fringes) are submissive and do not question or disobey their husbands will. The only exception of a
strong leader like female would be the Sealand Woman. She is the true hero of the novel with her
looming moral presence throughout the third act. She is unshamefully proud of her telepathic abilities
and boasts about Sealand s advanced technology to the extent of

Solemn Soot and Social Despair In the Transformative World...
Solemn Soot and Social Despair
In the Transformative World of William Blake England was changing. The rolling green shires and
inspiring scenery that was fixed in the earliest memories of the Romantic poets was quickly vanishing.
There was a trade off happening. Rivets for rocks, chimney stacks for trees, locomotives for carriages
and steal tracks for cobblestone. Piece by piece England s quaint agricultural backdrop was being
replaced by a stern industrial one. Progress! Some shouted. The greater good! Others exclaimed.
Expansion was becoming virtuous. In droves they came from the country to work in London s
factories. The machines ruled the fields now. Farmers turned their plows in for hammers and the way
peopled lived was never going to be the same.
A new social class was developing in England. It was the working class. And although a wider
segment of the population was producing, creating steam for the Empire, certain leading minds of the
time had to examine the under belly of this fiery beast. In William Blake s poems The Chimney
Sweeper and London he does just that. Through this examination Blake dwells on the theme of the
loss of innocence. He writes these two works in a straight forward tone, almost like a social awareness
pamphlet, urging the reader to wake up. And in typical Romantic fashion he does this through stark
imagery. What impression would a first time reader have after digesting these pieces when first
published? Depending on their class

Fear The Walking Dead Persuasive Essay
This past Sunday, AMC graced us with the premier of Fear the Walking Dead, a spin off of the
amazing, The Walking Dead TV series. While I am not a huge fan of spin offs in general, I must say
that I was impressed.
The following may contain spoilers, so if you haven t had the chance to see the premier, I would
highly recommend doing so before reading further.
So why should you watch Fear the Walking Dead? Because I said you should! And the fact that the
first episode will have you hooked, well, if you are a Walking Dead fan that is.
So where does Fear the Walking Dead fit into The Walking Dead universe? Well that s easy, it takes
place prior to the events of The Walking Dead, and on the west coast. More or less the beginning of
zombie infection.
In TWD, Rick wakes from a coma, to an unrecognizable world. Essentially a zombie apocalypse
where food and supplies are hard to come by. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of the completely depressing feel of TWD world, we are given a much more active, slightly
less depressing feel in FTWD. Why do I say slightly less depressing? Well the fact that the first
episode opens in an abandoned and run down church which is a haven for drug users, might be a good
reason. Or, the fact that our opening character, Nick, a junkie, witnesses the girl he was with, eating
someones face off. I could be wrong. Throughout the episode, we get to learn about Nick s somewhat
dysfunctional family and hints of the zombie apocalypse starting to unfold. There are also hints that
the drug that Nick has been using, is causing people to become zombies. Of course, nobody
understands what is going on yet, not even Nick. Everything starts to be put in perspective when Nick
s drug dealer, Calvin, attempts to kill him, only to get killed himself. After fleeing the location and
then returning with his mother, Madison, and step father, Travis, Nick finds that Calvins body is
missing, at least until they try to

The Prelude affords one of the best approaches to Wordsworth s poetry in general and to the

Commodification Of Halloween
With the increase in reinterpretations of death and Halloween symbols, two fundamental things
occurred, the mass commodification of Halloween and a decontextualization of the symbols of death.
In 1978 the premiere of Halloween, directed by John Carpenter, directly placed the holiday itself in
relation to horror and gruesome death, more so than the introduction of gothic horror ever did (Rogers
110; Khapaeva 58). The introduction of explicit horror, according to Rogers, created. a coded
language that enables authors and invites their audiences to explore their fears, hidden desires, and
anxieties (110). This established a creative space in which fantasy and dissociation could be merged
creating a popularization of death without actually dealing with the reality of death itself. It created a
space where the narrative of horror and death could be controlled and regulated, through established
archetypes. This directly contrasted the collective psyche of the 1970s and 80s in the United States,
which was dealing with the ramifications of the AIDS epidemic (the worst epidemic since Polio), and
an increase in social, religious, and political conservatism (Khapaeva 78). Through horror movies and
Halloween, social anxieties could be dealt with in an a political and creative way, while still
maintaining the sanitized separation of hospital and culture.
In the contemporary period, Halloween s popularity has increased. Personal expenditures on
Halloween have drastically increased since the 2000s, to create a multi billion dollar industry, which
has expanded the cultural awareness and practice of Halloween (Khapaeva 57). However, this
expansion has led to the commodification of Halloween, by equating it with consumer culture. This
has significant implications for the cultural conception of death as it equate previously potent symbols
with cheap goods. But this might have been by design, as Grider argues that the mass
commercialization of Halloween is another way in which collectively western culture can control the
potentially dangerous incursion of the supernatural world in our everyday lives (10). Through the
ownership of material goods associated with Halloween, the narrative and context of the concepts are

Free Association Psychology
I chose to respond to this essay topic because psychology is based on observations. I find it fascinating
to people watch. There is a reason for every gesture your body makes. A sound, picture, memory,
person, etc. can trigger you to respond using your facial and body expressions. In chapter 5 Karen
Horney s method of free association has a different technique compared to Freud s. As mentioned by
Shultz (2013) She suggested that analysis should be an exquisitely cooperative enterprise between
patient and therapist (p.153). Karen Horney did have a couch, but not all her patients chose to make
use of it. Allowing the patient to choose freely how they expressed themselves in the therapy
environment allowed the patient to show their true self.

Individual Risk Management The objective of risk management is to develop response actions to
minimize the impact of possible negative events during every phase of a project. The process also
works to increase the impact of the positive events and mitigate the problems associated with making
changes (Project Management Institute, 2013). The risks in many projects are multifaceted in nature
because the positive impact created at one stage of a project, could have dire consequences at another.

The RMP delivers four main objectives significant to the project, by categorizing the risk into
different levels for each phase and department. The risk categorization provides the probability and

project objectives defining a plan to address cost, time, scope, and quality. The risk management

Merlin s Character In The Legend Of Geoffrey Merlin And...
Merlin is considered one of the most strongest sorcerer that lives Camelot. He is Arthur s adviser, as
well as a prophet and sorcerer. Merlin s powers were so powerful that other wizards and sorcerers
looked up to him as a leader. His role in the Arthurian legend is to protect and serve the lands of
Camelot. The Life of Merlin gave him the qualities of an humble man, who took pleasure in
loneliness. The source provided descriptive details of Merlin s actions and how they affected others in
relations to his selfishness. In the narrative, Monmouth wrote Merlin to be a man who wanted nothing
to do with anyone, except for himself. After the 1900 s, author of The Daughter of Merlin took a
different perspective and gave the character a child that shared the same qualities. Gaster gave new
meaning to Merlin s character that will be put in texts of the Arthurian Legend. In the narratives, The
Life of Merlin by Geoffrey Monmouth and The Daughter of Merlin by Madison J Cawein, Merlin s
character changes as different authors rewrite his character. He changes from a sorcerer living on his
own to a sorcerer who has a daughter with his same abilities, because over a certain time period the
authors wanted to evolve Merlin into more caring, passionate character. For example, Monmouth
provides Merlin s character with the sense of self serving attitude. The author incorporates a battle,
which Merlin s leads and succeeds with the victory of the battle. In return of the victorious battle, the

Haitian Coup D état Casualties
Education is a very integral part of my upbringing and it has helped to foster me into the person I am
today, both in my personal and academic life. As a dual enrollment student, I was granted the
opportunity to read about the writer Edwidge Danticat, a noble Haitian American author, who writes
about the victim s of the Military Coup D état over throw of the Haitian government. In her essay I
Speak Out Edwidge interviews a coup d état victim who goes by the name of Alerte Belance. In this
essay Danticat brings to life the torture that Alerte experienced at the hands of the attaché paramilitary
men. The paramilitary men were against everyone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to James Daniel, Aristide s government was overthrown because Aristide was trying to
implement his belief on the people of Haiti, which ultimately sparks the uprising of the coup d état in
1991. Aristide followers used necklaced on other political leaders by dousing then with kerosene, after
placing tires around their necks then setting them ablaze. James Daniel highlighted that the Lavalas;
Aristides supporters continued to cause violence and that Aristide himself praised them to continue
their necklacing especially among the wealthy people of Haiti. Danticat believed that during this time
period it was very important to share her different political views about the issues faced by her fellow
Haitian brothers and sisters by interviewing with Alerte Belance. Danticat managed to paint a vivid
picture in the minds of her readers as to what went on during the 1991 military takeover. As described
in the essay, the Attaché men went around killing everyone who they suspected was a supporter of the
Aristides government, despite the age or gender of the individuals as a sign of revenge.
Edwidge Danticat s love for humanity caused her to share the experiences of what Alerte Blenche had
gone through during the 1991 uprising. Also, the love for her native country and people prompted her
to share with the world the casualties of what happened in Haiti during 1991 through her writing.
Although, Aristides caused the uprising against the opposing party, and the military; Danticat had to
bring to light what this young woman had to endure at the hands of the paramilitary

The Child Welfare System Has Greatly Over The Last 40 Years
The child welfare system has developed greatly over the last 40 years. This system provides a variety
of services to help protect the well being of children in need. One of the services provided through the
State is the Foster Care Program. Like any other government program, the State must meet certain
requirements to receive Federal funding. The components of the Foster Care Program are found in
Title IV Part E of the Social Security Act. There is also a clear purpose and impact that Title IV Part E
has had both federally and locally. It has greatly changed the Foster Care Program and opened many
opportunities for the foster care process. Title IV Part E is labeled Federal Payments for Foster Care
and Adoption Assistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the foster care process, it is a priority to either preserve the family or to eventually reunify the
family. This also includes attempts to keep siblings together in placement of homes. If the siblings are
separated, then frequent visitation must be provided. If the court determines the child s parents are
unfit to provide, then a permanency plan must be made and a hearing must be held within 30 days. A
child should always be placed in a timely manner. When developing a permanency plan, family
members should be the first priority for placement. If no family member is able to provide for the
child, then the State should seek out a non relative permanency plan. Before placement occurs, the
foster parents must be adequately trained with the appropriate skill sets and knowledge base. Another
factor that must be established before placement is if the child requires special needs or medical
attention, then health insurance coverage must be provided. The child must also be enrolled in
schooling if they are of age, unless a specific condition exempts the child from doing so. Near the end
of this section it states that every person has the opportunity to become a foster parent and there
should be no discrimination throughout the foster care process. Finally the State must inform foster or
adoptive parents of any potential eligibility for Federal Tax

  • 4. Nursing Home Abuse And Neglect Nursing home residents are often subject to abuse and neglect. But the biggest problem is that nursing home neglect is often not easy to detect. Part of the problem is that a large majority of nursing home residents are very old. Some can hardly speak while others may be suffering from dementia or maybe just too afraid to speak up. In many cases, nursing home abuse and neglect may not even be evident in any physical form. We all know that emotional abuse often has no physical scars but can leave massive scars on the inside. There may be situations where the behavior of the nursing home resident changes but even this can be overlooked by family and friends as they may dismiss such change to old age or diseases like dementia or Alzheimer s. For families of nursing home residents in Middleburg, Florida, it is important to be aware of some warning signs that your loved one may be a victim of nursing home abuse or neglect. These warning signs include: Continued loss of body weight Frequent skin infections Bed Sores Sudden change in personality, fearful, scared, or crying Withdrawn and not socially interactive Pressure ulcer Recurrent falls Worsening of personal hygiene Environment not safe like slippery floors, poor lighting, broken furniture, unclean bathroom If you observe any of these warning signs and are fairly certain that your loved one is being abused or neglected, call a Middleburg nursing home abuse lawyer as soon as possible. • 6. Impact Of Joseph Needham On The Historiography Of Chinese... This paper examines Joseph Needham s impact on the historiography of Chinese Science and Technology (S T), arguing that his great achievements were marred by an East/West comparative approach, and that subsequent historians have only partly overcome these restrictions. His multi volume Science and Civilization in China (1954 ongoing) single handedly thrust China into the Western dominated historiography. Organized along the disciplinary lines of modern science, Needham sought to document every scientific concept and technology invented in China, which he saw as the origin of most knowledge before Europe s Scientific Revolution. For Needham, science in China (and India, and the Middle East) was like the river that flowed into the sea of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reviewing Needham s life s work in 1984, famed historian Lynn White, Jr. wrote that Needham seemed to be doing penance for the Opium War, but that One respects the exaggerations of a lover. For forty five years Joseph Needham has been in intellectual love with China and the Chinese. Needham took it as his task to document millennia of Chinese science and technology. Bringing forth thousands of unknown primary and ignored secondary documents, he created a portrait of imperial China as a stable and inventive civilization, morally superior the later Western empires. Until the sixteenth century, he demonstrated, the flow of knowledge and technology had mainly gone from East to West. The European Enlightenment, Scientific Revolution and Industrial Revolution all stood on the shoulders of Chinese contributions. It was time, Needham argued, to recognize that the West did not have a monopoly on science: Surely it would be better to give more attention to the history and values of these non European civilization, in actual fact no less exalted and inspiring than our own. Then let us give up that intellectual pride which boasts that we are the people, and that wisdom was born with us . • 7. How Technology Has Changed The Environment In the last decade, society has become increasingly worried about the impact that humans have on the environment. Many people believe that climate change is actively going to change the way how people live in the future. In response to the public concern, many companies are searching for greener methods of energy output. Instead of coal and gasoline, corporations are becoming more socially responsible in their actions. For example, long standing establishments like Walmart has installed LED lighting in all of their stores to cut down on energy consumption and more restaurants are switching to locally sourced and organic ingredients. The large car companies have a vast number of assets and could squash any competitor that tried to enter due to the high barrier to entry of the car industry. Even though these companies had immense numbers of resources, they still had trouble finding viable fuel sources besides gas. In 2003, a couple of engineers out of Silicon Valley had an idea that would revolutionize the car industry by finding a radical new way to power the traditional automobile (About Tesla, 2016). In Silicon Valley, two experienced engineers, Mark Eberhard and Marc Tappening wanted to build a more efficient automobile. The two found this small company out in California called AC Propulsion that created a car named the tzero. The car had a motor that could go 0 60 in 4 seconds and felt like a sports car. Both were intrigued with the extraordinary technology found in the tzero and decided to figure out why it was not main stream. Through a little research, they discovered that GM tried to manufacture an electric automobile named the EV 1, but failed miserably due to marketing troubles. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Why Are We Striving For Survival In The Auschwitz Striving for survival What is survival? Survival is the state or fact of continuing to live or exist, typically in spite of an accident, ordeal, or difficult circumstances. Humans have been around for approximately 200,000 and have strived to the maximum to survive. Throughout these years, humans have evolved and adapted to their surroundings. Humans endeavor to survive. Striving for survival isn t something new. Human ancestors have been doing this way back since caveman. They have fought against the weather, diseases, war, etc. The fear of death makes humans strive for survival. Another reason is that humans have an instinct that tells us automatically to fight back. Hope is another reason for humans to keep striving. They strive to survive to survive because they have hope something good awaits them in the future. In his boyish imagination they were Vague and bloody conflicts that had thrilled him with their sweep and fire. Still, he did not ever foresee that one day he would be involved in such a great conflict. Whenever he thought of war it was the romanticized vision of a bygone era: There was a portion of the world s history which he had regarded as the time of wars, but it, he thought, had been long gone over the horizon and had disappeared forever. When war breaks out in his generation he is eager to enlist, even against the wishes of his mother. The novel opens with the young man restlessly waiting with his regiment for the battle to begin. He s been encamped with his fellow troops so long he can barely stand it. He wants to engage in the mythic glory or war. Even as he waits he wonders if he will be brave enough to not flee the reality of conflict. He is of two minds the desire to engage and the fear of his personal disengagement. Neutrinos Research Paper Recently, scientists found the first known evidence of oscillating neutrinos, and have come to believe that they re getting very close to understanding these bizarre particles. FERMILAB LAUNCHES NEUTRINOS FARTHER This scientific advancement is the result of Fermilab s ongoing NOvA experiment, which hopes to uncover the secrets of those elusive particles called neutrinos. The study released its final results earlier this week. The experiment s gigantic particle detector is capable of detecting neutrinos fired from an impressive 500 miles distance, but the scientists are having a hard time forming significant conclusions from this recent success. After being fired, the neutrinos oscillate 500 miles through the Earth s crust. When one of the neutrinos collides with one of the atoms in the detector, a signature trail of particles and light is released which is used to identify the neutrino as an electron, muon or tau. Most neutrinos shot out of Fermilab are composed of muons, but because of this experimental method, scientists can actually infer how many are transform in transit from muon to electron. As a result, the court will remove these terms from the standard form contract, and treat the contract as if the term was never present (Australian Consumer Law s 23(1)). One such example of unfair terms is when a term that allows one party (but not the other) to vary the terms of the contract after it has been agreed to (ACL s 25(1)(d)). In order to void the term under the Act (ACL s 23 (1)), two main requirements must be satisfied: 1. The term must be unfair and 2. The contract must be a standard form contract In this particular case, the airline appears to have waived / varied this policy (term) by allowing Jack to check in and board the aircraft even though he missed the Check In Deadline by 5 minutes. Therefore, it would seem unreasonable for the airline to then attempt to reintroduce this term of the contract in order to avoid paying a refund after they subsequently removed him from the flight due to overbooking. In addition, it would also be unfair to not provide a refund on items purchased (eg accommodation) as missing the Check In Deadline is unrelated to the accommodation. • 12. An Analysis of The Story of Rahab Essay An Analysis of The Story of Rahab The main point of the story of Rahab is that God rewards people, regardless of their station or past sins, who put their faith in Him. The story of Rahab begins when Joshua, after receiving God s command to enter into the Promised Land, sends two spies into Jericho and the surrounding areas to view the land (Joshua 2:1). The two spies are discovered in Jericho as they enter Rahab s harlot house. The king of Jericho, being alerted to their presence, sends for the spies. Jericho was a pagan city so Rahab probably had a lot of business. Notice that she owned and operated the brothel. Rahab was a successful business woman. She took charge of situations and was able to make fast, smart decisions. Rahab saw a perfect opportunity to save herself from the impending doom and because of her intelligent and bold actions she was able to take advantage of it. One might even suspect her of informing the king of the spy s presence. Rahab s relationship to the spies throughout the story also shows an element of her nature. From the moment that the spies enter her house and are found out, Rahab has the upper hand in the relationship. The spies need Rahab to help them. She uses their dependence on her protection and her familiarity with the city to her advantage. Rahab is a survivor. She looks out for her own skin. The truth of her supposed religious devotion to the God of the Israelites is questionable. But true or not she had no problem using that to help her family. Rahab was loyal to her family and would do anything to ensure her family s safety. Rahab s dialogue also shows her intelligence. Her talk with the spies reads like a man speaking. Rahab ... How Did Giles Corey Change In The Crucible Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. This is exactly what Giles Corey, John Proctor and Reverend Hale were trying to do, bring change so things would get better. In Arthur Miller s play The Crucible, a group of girls began to accuse every honorable person in town of witchcraft. The witchcraft trials went so far as to hang nineteen innocent people, all because the girls said they were witches. There were three honorable people, Giles Corey, John Proctor and Reverend Hale who spoke up about the social injustices, but they were too late. These characters impacted the overall outcome of the Salem witchcraft trials, but it did not put a stop to them. Giles Corey tried to speak out and stop the trials, but was evidently pressed to death after not giving up names of other people wanting it to stop (1226). His homesickness made him rediscover through his memories an Australia which he loved, which was slowing evolving into a country which was unrecognisable to his childhood. In Cloudstreet, Tim Winton reflects on Australia s landscape which is quickly being turned into a suburbia which seems disjointed from natural state of the Australian land. Similarly the culture of the Australian community and sense of camaraderie is presented as integral to an Australia which Winton is increasingly nostalgic about throughout the novel. Oriel, va woman raised in the bosom of the Australian outback, on a farm as the primary care giver of her younger siblings, displays a stoicism which is integral in the success of her family and the shop at Cloudstreet. Each day she puts on the full armour and puts every ounce of her strength into the lives of the people around her almost to the consequence of her own sanity. Winton contrasts this to the Rose s first boyfriend, Toby Raven, a vacuous writer who is more interested in places and people who are in the know . In presenting Toby Raven as a superficial and social climbing he is making a comment on the new breed of Australians who are populating the rapidly changing Australia. Most strikingly this contrast in morals is displayed by Toby Raven s lack of decorum in mocking Rose s family back at Cloudstreet, and his inability to be responsible for deceiving his literary friends. Toby Raven and his associates represent the new breed of Australian, a type which would be all too familiar to late 20th century Tim Winton. Such is the reason why Cloudstreet is centred around the stoic and hardworking Lamb and Pickles families, individuals who embody what Winton sees as incredibly significant and more importantly typically Australian, in Tim Winton s sense of the ... • 16. A Streetcar Named Desire Film Analysis In the film A Streetcar Named Desire , the producers do an excellent job of showing how the film plays with light and dark, illusion and reality, and brutality conflict. Blanche, Stella, Stanly and Mitch successfully portray the concepts of light vs dark, illusion vs reality, brutality conflict through various transitions of each. As Blanche arrives at the house of Stella and Stanly, right away you see his mood go into a very dark place as if he does not want her to be there. Stanly s character in the film comes off to be very rough and aggressive. The night after Blanche arrived, she meets Stanly s friend Mitch, who is different from Stanly just by the way he carries himself. Mitch and Blanche catch a glimpse of each other which brings some light back into her being there. Stella was in support of her sister blanche meeting Mitch as it may have been an effective way for her to comfortably. Light and dark effects in a dramatic film play a big part because it sets the tone of the storyline and helps give the suspension of where the story will go and end up. It can be good for a film to bounce back and forth from light and dark moments to keep scenes impactful to the viewer. [For example, in the scene where Blanche buys a cover for the light in the bedroom area, it made her happy, and the others seemed as if they supported it to make her feel comfortable, and then towards the end of the film when Stanly snatches the cover off the light as he is angry, it changes the ... The scientific discovery (history) of arms trade has been around since the first crq eation of the cannon, but it has only been in the last century has the world seen an explosion in arms deals. The best way to categorize the history and politics of arms trade is during and after the Cold War, which began two years after World War II ended in 1945. During the Cold War there was no global market for arms trade, countries strictly only dealt with who they considered their allies. With the fall of nazi Germany it left two main superpowers for supplying arms, the USA and Russia. The US solely dealt and supplied arms with countries like the United Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Russia being a communist state at the time dealt with countries that had an influencing communist party in power like Cuba. Both superpowers however competed to influence destabilized countries in Africa, and in Latin America. After the Cold War ended in the late 1980 s early 1990 s the world saw a globalization of arms trade becoming an open market where the USA and Russia are able to deal with whatever country is willing to buy. Some of the most sought out weapons after the Cold War were nuclear and although there are only five countries are allowed to possess nuclear weapons, the US, United Kingdom, France, Russia and China, they are stored in over a dozen countries. ... • 18. Planning Of Implementation Of Proposed Work Essay Planning of Implementation of proposed work This plan is the basis for the execution and tracking of all activities that are components of the project. An iterative life cycle model does not attempt to initialize with a full specification of requirements. Instead, development of the software begins by specifying and implementing just part of it, which can then be verified and reviewed in order to identify further requirements. This process is then repeated many times iteratively, producing a new version of the software for each cycle of the model by improving it step by step. In iterative model we are building and improving the product step by step. Hence we can identify the defects at early stages of the project development. This helps to avoids the downward flow of the defects. In iterative model, we can get the reliable user feedback time to time. While presenting sketches and blueprints of the product to users for their valuable feedback, we are effectively asking them to imagine how the product will work. In iterative model little time is spent on documenting process and more time is given for designing part. We can use the iterative mode for software development when the requirements of the complete system are clearly defined and understood and also the project is big scale. • 19. The Debate Over Gun Control Never A Win Win The topic of gun control has become very popular in recent years as there is now more controversy than ever about the role that guns play in today s world. I have come to be interested in this topic because it seems like not a day goes by anymore where there isn t a newspaper published with an article slandering either the pro or anti gun control activists. Going into this topic, I was assuming that I would end up reading about a lot of school shootings and how it is just guns that are causing so many deaths each year, but there seems to be a bit more to it than that. It really is no surprise that this topic has become so popular as of late, considering that in 2014 there were roughly 51,000 firearm related incidents, and in 2015 roughly 53,000 incidents. If there is one thing that I for sure already know, its that guns have a huge impact on our society. There are so many lives that are impacted by gun related incidents every year that it is nearly impossible to get away from. So the question stands, are guns a necessary and helpful tool for Americans to wield, or are they the merciless killing machines that they have been publicized as in recent years? While researching gun control, one of the first major sources that I found was of course the second amendment to the United States constitution. The second amendment is as follows, A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For instance, the main challenge in 2013 was to add to the CITES Appendix II several species of sharks. This proposal faced a strong resistance from China, Japan and their allies, where the shark fin trade is a tradition, causing horrific changes in the population of these species. • 22. Waknuk s Present Day Women The women who stray away from the preset quotas on how they must act in society are ridiculed. The author establishes this issue well in the cases of Sophie Wender, Rosalind Morton, and Aunt Harriet. These individuals are undoubtedly the most developed emotionally, as well as the most assertive and genuine representations of present day women, shown throughout the novel. Rosalind and Sophie are the closest there are to heroines in consideration of the fact they repeatedly confront and fight for their beliefs in how mutants should be treated. This is a stark contrast to the general representation, which is one of fearful, timid housewives who only do as their husbands permit them. Nevertheless their way of acting is considered sinful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The earliest display of this social hierarchy is introduced through the story of Elias Strorm, the most prominent figure in Waknuk s history. In a few seasons he straitened the coltishness with admonitions, faded the pink and gold with preaching, and produced a sad, grey wraith of wifehood who died, unprotesting, a year after her second son was born (1616). One could even argue that Elias s wife died twice, once when Elias drilled and beat her into the mold of a submissive housewife, and finally when her heart stopped beating. This imagined ideal of how a proper wife must act did not die with Elias, as Joseph Strorm decided to not make the same mistake with his wife. Emily Strorm, while being slightly less frail and decrepit than Elias s wife, she is still at the same mercy to Joseph as Elias s wife was to him. When David was beaten by Joseph Emily was unable to anything other than cry as she dressed his wounds. Emily, Elias s wife, as well as all other women in the novel (even to an extent in the fringes) are submissive and do not question or disobey their husbands will. • 23. Solemn Soot and Social Despair In the Transformative World... Solemn Soot and Social Despair In the Transformative World of William Blake England was changing. The rolling green shires and inspiring scenery that was fixed in the earliest memories of the Romantic poets was quickly vanishing. There was a trade off happening. Rivets for rocks, chimney stacks for trees, locomotives for carriages and steal tracks for cobblestone. Piece by piece England s quaint agricultural backdrop was being replaced by a stern industrial one. Progress! Some shouted. The greater good! Others exclaimed. Expansion was becoming virtuous. In droves they came from the country to work in London s factories. The machines ruled the fields now. Farmers turned their plows in for hammers and the way peopled lived was never going to be the same. A new social class was developing in England. It was the working class. And although a wider segment of the population was producing, creating steam for the Empire, certain leading minds of the time had to examine the under belly of this fiery beast. In William Blake s poems The Chimney Sweeper and London he does just that. Through this examination Blake dwells on the theme of the loss of innocence. He writes these two works in a straight forward tone, almost like a social awareness pamphlet, urging the reader to wake up. And in typical Romantic fashion he does this through stark imagery. • 26. Commodification Of Halloween With the increase in reinterpretations of death and Halloween symbols, two fundamental things occurred, the mass commodification of Halloween and a decontextualization of the symbols of death. In 1978 the premiere of Halloween, directed by John Carpenter, directly placed the holiday itself in relation to horror and gruesome death, more so than the introduction of gothic horror ever did (Rogers 110; Khapaeva 58). The introduction of explicit horror, according to Rogers, created. a coded language that enables authors and invites their audiences to explore their fears, hidden desires, and anxieties (110). This established a creative space in which fantasy and dissociation could be merged creating a popularization of death without actually dealing with the reality of death itself. It created a space where the narrative of horror and death could be controlled and regulated, through established archetypes. This directly contrasted the collective psyche of the 1970s and 80s in the United States, which was dealing with the ramifications of the AIDS epidemic (the worst epidemic since Polio), and an increase in social, religious, and political conservatism (Khapaeva 78). Through horror movies and Halloween, social anxieties could be dealt with in an a political and creative way, while still maintaining the sanitized separation of hospital and culture. In the contemporary period, Halloween s popularity has increased. Personal expenditures on Halloween have drastically increased since the 2000s, to create a multi billion dollar industry, which has expanded the cultural awareness and practice of Halloween (Khapaeva 57). However, this expansion has led to the commodification of Halloween, by equating it with consumer culture. This has significant implications for the cultural conception of death as it equate previously potent symbols with cheap goods. But this might have been by design, as Grider argues that the mass commercialization of Halloween is another way in which collectively western culture can control the potentially dangerous incursion of the supernatural world in our everyday lives (10). Through the ownership of material goods associated with Halloween, the narrative and context of the concepts are further ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His role in the Arthurian legend is to protect and serve the lands of Camelot. The Life of Merlin gave him the qualities of an humble man, who took pleasure in loneliness. The source provided descriptive details of Merlin s actions and how they affected others in relations to his selfishness.
