How Does Religion Affect Australian Society
Religion is a pivotal aspect in society to date with a diverse array of religions known to be practised in
Australia, creating opportunities to embrace individuality though also sparking social divisions.
French sociologist, Emile Durkheim described religion as a unified system of beliefs and practices
relative to sacred things, that is to say, things set apart and forbidden beliefs and practices which unite
into one single moral community (Jones, 2011). So how does religion influence Australian society?
With a vast incline in religions practised in Australia, it is extremely feasible to presume that it does
affect Australia significantly. It is through cultural diversity, morality and ethics and laws in which the
true relevance of religion in Australian society can be identified.
Religion has had an extensive influence on Australian society in regards to cultural diversity. With the
implementation of a government policy in the 1970s introducing multiculturalism, this has seen a vast
increase in the acceptance of diverse cultures into Australia. This not only created a coherent society
but also allowed people to experience different religious beliefs and the cultural practises which stem
from this. As identified in the 2011 Census, Christianity is one of the most practised religions in
Australia where 61% of the population were affiliated with Christianity according to Australian
Bureau of Statistics in 2012. This is followed by 22.3% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Moral Ambiguity in The Stranger Essay
Has there ever existed a person that has not judged someone else over their lifetime? Judging by
reality as well as literature it seems that no person like that has ever existed. It appears that it is human
nature to want to pronounce others as either purely good or evil. But does everyone fit into the mold
of good or evil? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, Meursault is a morally ambiguous character, and this
ethical indistinctness plays a major part in the novel as a whole and the theme that Camus is trying to
portray.
Meursault resists being typecast into an archetypal moral category in many of his deeds and actions.
Many of his actions in Part One of the novel help contribute to the fuzzy picture of the character. For
example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abstractly, it almost seems as though the other characters in the book look down on his for this not
because he is not mourning, but rather because he is not mourning in the way they are. This sheds
light on the overall theme of the novel, that of people being cast out of society because their views and
methods do not line up with the accepted ways of society.
The same moral ambiguity is also present in Meursault s murder of the Arab and the ensuing trial. As
far as absolute morality goes, the murder is without question an act that falls on the evil side of ethics.
That point is not a topic for debate, but in the reasons behind it the reader can find even more of
Meursault s moral ambiguity. At the time, he does not seem to know why he is doing what he is doing,
but it is certainly not out of spite or malice, nor out of any specific hatred of the Arab himself. He
could be harboring a grudge on behalf of his friend, which would be understandable, since Raymond
is one of the only people we see Meursault truly connect with in the novel, if it can even be called that.
He could be taking preemptive action in self defense, especially after he sees the knife glinting in the
Arab s hand. In truth, it is never truly revealed what his motive for his rash action was, making it hard
again to

Analysis Of Making An Investment In A Foreign Market
Making an Investment in a Foreign Market Name: Institution Making an Investment in a Foreign
Market Introduction As globalization intensifies, the business community tends to expand its
operations towards the international market. This can be as a result of intense competition in the local
market, need to increase sales and profits margins, to enhance the company s prestige, to create jobs,
to increase the value of the entrepreneurs among others (Bodie, 2013). Before going global, the
company s executive has to consider factors that favour or hinder their goal towards achieving
international recognition in trade. This paper reviews the topic on Making an Investment in a Foreign

The high population of the middle class in the country also meant that the client base was almost

suppliers of the product that the company intends to produce and sell were not yet ascertained and this
provided a setback. After analysing all the factors that favour the company s investment against those
that deter its choice of investing, I ascertained that the increase in revenue of the firm and reduction in
the cost of operating in the foreign market was a probability thereby the value of the firm would be

providing competitive prices and products that fit the consumers preferences. Uniqueness could be
achieved through product packaging, service delivery and advertising. Through packaging, I came up
with the idea that we should package our products using environmentally friendly material, durable,
easy to handle and clean material that would make the client fall in love with our products and

Tomplait s Claims Against Johns-Manville
HISTORY OF THE ASBESTOS LITIGATION Tomplait: In 1961, Claude Tomplait was diagnosed
with pulmonary fibrosis, probably as a result of inhaling asbestos fibers. He asked Ward Stephenson,
who was a well known attorney specialized in industrial accident cases, to file a workmen s
compensation claim against Johns Manville and several other major asbestos industries. The Claim
was denied by the Texas Industrial Accident Board. Stephenson later advised Tomplait to accept
settlement from three insurance companies that totaled $7,500, a decision that he was queasy about
but compelled to accept due to some conflicts over Tomplait s diagnosis of his chest condition. A few
months later, however, Stephenson filed a complaint against 11 asbestos insulation ... Show more

Because lawyers were able to recruit huge number of claimants,66 through 2002, it was estimated that
730,000 of the individuals who were exposed to asbestos, have brought claims against more than 8400
companies. Consequently, companies have spent $70 billion on these claims, and costs are expected to
triple or even quadruple (up to $210 billion). The number of firms involved in asbestos litigations
increased from 300 firms in 1982 to more than 6,000 in 2000.67 There are at least 300,000 asbestos
claims pending nationwide,68 and therefore, there is a serious concern that funds will dry up quickly
and future claimants will not be sufficiently compensated.67 The vast majority of these claims are
coming from plaintiffs who have no impairment, because they are subject to statutes of limitations that
begin when they discover evidence of asbestos exposure. These huge number of claims are exhausting
a considerable money and court s time and forcing firms into bankruptcy.69 Second hand asbestos
exposure claims, also known as take home claims, are now an increasingly growing issue too.70
Examples of these claims involved wives who laundered their husbands clothes that were
contaminated with asbestos from work sites for many years resulting in mesothelioma.71,72 In an
attempt to plan for future litigation, there were several attempts to estimate future impact of asbestos
exposure on the morbidity and mortality of the population exposed, however, future projections are
challenging for several reasons. First, injuries that have occurred in the past due to asbestos exposure
were rarely documented, second, the latency period between exposure and occurrence of symptoms is
several decades. In addition, mesothelioma was not

Isolation In M. L. Stedman s The Light Between Oceans
The chains of the decision wrap themselves insidiously around his torso, binding the man while the
woman sits smiling in the corner ignoring his pleas. Sometimes the cold metal shifts and loosens its
harsh grip when the child rests her small hands on them or the woman gets up and whispers in his ear,
but never long enough to let him forget. Just like these constraints, Tom Sherbourne faces suffocating
guilt about failing to report Lucy and Frank s mysterious arrival to Janus and subsequently claiming
the girl as his own daughter with his wife Isabel in M.L. Stedman s The Light Between Oceans.
Throughout his marriage, Tom struggles deeply with the fluctuating concept of right and wrong, which

However, Tom originally found solace in the removal from society as it helped ease the memories of
the war and his childhood with its simplicity and predictability. As the couple settles and Lucy arrives,
the motif of isolation and the island itself darkens to represent a prison, entrapping Tom and
overwhelming him with the lies, guilt and knowledge of Hannah suffering miles away. Unlike if Tom
were on the mainland where it is much more difficult to escape the constant reminder of their choice,
he manages to subdue his restless conscience at times so that isolation lulls him with music of the lie
(159). Isabel experiences a similar effect brought on by the years of seclusion. During her cathartic
visit with Ralph, Isabel admits to the powerful force of the island on her judgement: Janus was real.
Lucy was real. Everything else was just make belief (310). Isolation makes it easier for both Isabel
and Tom to forget about Hannah and the rest of the world like they are no more than an exciting story

Implementing A Comprehensive Audit Plan Essay
Abstract
This paper will discuss the hot topics in emerging issues that was discussed in previous assignments.
Several companies can benefit from finding ways to implement a comprehensive audit plan to reduce
the likelihood of fraud occurring. Ideas associated with the SDLC and how to create phases that will
fall in line with this execution are also detailed in this assignment. The SDLC assists in reducing fraud
and cannot be applied lightly; this plan makes the process of fraud prevention and detection easier to
succumb. Updating policies and procedures is an ongoing process that cannot go unkempt.
Establishing a Comprehensive Audit Plan
The acronym SDLC is explained as a software development lifecycle. The phases of the SDLC
include analysis and definition phases, where the purpose should be determined, the goals that need to
be accomplished, and a set of definite requirements. Establishing a comprehensive audit plan is
integral in fulfilling the successful and quality financials for a business. This should be done at the
inception of creating the company as well as routinely checked on a consistent basis. This used in
accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act will guarantee that the company has a sure way to mitigate
the fraud opportunity that may occur during the time of day to day operations (Strayer University
2013).
A fraud detection plan will provide the blueprint for a healthy environment in the aspect of protecting
the company and its assets. The plan will give a

Why soldiers enlisted in WW1 Essay
To what extent did Australian s enlist in 1914 to defend the Mother Country ? There are many reasons
to why Australian s went to war in the 1914; everyone had different reasons for applying for this life
threatening job. Some went for the thrill, to get a job, to get away from the drought and some people
even had war fever. On the other hand, some people went because they felt like it was the right thing
to do and because everyone else was doing it. A lot of time people think only about the soldiers that
went to war and forget about the women who also enlisted as nurses and did other important jobs.

State Trooper V. Vincent s Case
A Senior Louisiana State trooper Steven Vincent, 43, was dead after receiving two gunshots in his
head by a gunman, at the side of the road in Bell City, Louisiana, on Monday. Vincent was supposed
to help a possibly impaired driver who was also responsible for his death.
Reuters reported that Kevin Diagle, 54, was charged of first degree murder and aggregated battery of a
police.
In a press conference, State Police Colonel Michael Edmonson detailed the scene that was recorded on
a dashboard camera of the police car. It was frightening to watch, he said while pointing out that
Vincent followed their protocols. He did everything right.

In addition, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said that Diagle could also be involved to a death
of a person before his encounter with the trooper. The authorities are yet to release reports in his
alleged involvement.
Moreover in the press conference, Edmonson thanked the motorists who stopped to rescue Vincent
with their heroic act in getting the gun out from Diagle. They stopped to help my trooper and I will
never forget that, Edmonson said. I was pretty proud of them, he added.
Edmonson also said on his statement, As an organization, we are heartbroken over this senseless and
tragic death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his surviving wife Katherine and his son Ethan as well
as his entire extended family.
Meanwhile in USA Today news, Governor Bobby Jindal ordered flags to be lowered to half staff to

The Pros And Cons Of DDT
Summary of Issue:
DDT has been used since WW2 as an insecticide to control the outbreak of malaria and typhus among
troops and civilians. This is because malaria is spread by mosquitos and DDT was considered to be a
powerful in eliminating these populations, thus decreasing the infection rate for malaria. Since it was
first discovered as an insecticide, worldwide it was used in very large amounts because nobody knew
any better and it was considered to be revolutionary. It wasn t until 1962, when biologist Rachel
Carson first outlined the potential harm DDT has on the environment, believing it caused cancer in
humans and harmed bird wildlife. This led to the United Stated ban of DDT use in 1972, and later, a

The disease usually affects the elderly, people 65 and older, but 200,000 of the Americans living with
Alzheimer s today are younger than 65. One in ten people over 65 have Alzheimer s, making this
disease common. African Americans are almost twice more likely to develop a form of dementia than
older Caucasians. Hispanics are one and a half times more likely to develop Alzheimer s disease than
Caucasians. Most cases of Alzheimer s are caused from a mutation in one of the APP, PSEN1, or
PSEN2 genes. When one of these three genes are reformed, a toxic fragment called amyloid beta
peptides is created in the brain. The peptide will then produce clumps in the brain, called amyloid
plaques, which is a characteristic of Alzheimer s disease. An accumulation of toxic amyloid plaques
will most likely cause death to the nerve cells and show symptoms of the disease. This mutation
carries on from parent to child, making the disease hereditary. Researchers say that people with Down
syndrome have a high risk of developing Alzheimer s

A Sociological Perspective On Homelessness
Currently, the rates of homelessness in America continue to drastically increase. The U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development (2012) depicted how many people are homeless in a single night
in America. The findings revealed that there were approximately 633,782 people who are homeless in
America or 20 out of every 10,000. Approximately 394,379 are single individuals and 239,403 are
people in families with 77,157 homeless families in a single night, and approximately 162, 246 are
children. Veterans are more likely to be homeless than those who are non veterans, approximately 29
out of every 10,000 veterans are homeless. Unfortunately, 38 percent of those who are homeless are
unsheltered, either living on the streets or in places that are not suitable for human inhabitation. Most
states account of for less than 1% of homeless population, whereas Texas contains approximately
5.4% of America s homeless population. In San Antonio, there are approximately 2,981 people who
are homeless each day, and 1,243 are unsheltered. Through a sociological perspective, the social
problems of homelessness can be analyzed through the concept of sociological imagination, the
comparison of the person blame approach and the system blame approach, and through the analysis of
one s own community s effort in helping those who are homeless. Firstly, C. Wright Mills concept of
sociological imagination is stimulated by a willingness to view the social worlds from the perspective

CHANGE, TRANSITION, AND LOSS FILM REVIEW 2
Summary
The Notebook (2004), is a deeply powerful and moving film about the undying love between a man
and woman through the telling of their story of love and loss. Duke, a resident in a nursing home reads
to a fellow resident, an old woman with Alzheimer s, the love story of Allie Hamilton and Noah
Calhoun. Viewers later learn that the woman with Alzheimer s is Allie and that Duke is Noah. Prior to
the advancement of her illness, Allie had written their love story in a notebook and told Noah to read it
to her so that she would keep coming back to him . Through the sharing of their personal experiences
of love and grief along with the experiences of other characters, viewers are able to critically reflect
on their own life experiences of love and loss and the different ways in which these experiences have
allowed change, growth, and transition in one s life.
Losses/Types of Losses Presented
One of the major types of losses presented in the film, The Notebook (2004) is that of ambiguous loss.
According to Harris (2011), ambiguous loss occurs in the circumstance of relationships and the

they had hoped for because of things like money issues and faith. In the documents it talked about

The Crime Types Of Crime In Criminological Crimes
To explain the crime type of sexual offences, it is important to decipher how crime is made sense of,
specifically exploring the definitions and attitudes to sexual offences. Exploring the crime throughout
history and during the present day, so called, epidemic of sexual offences; laws, trends and attitudes
will allow concepts to form as to how these views to sexual offences have impacted on theories with
in criminological knowledge.
Definitions
Crime is defined in the oxford dictionary as An action or omission which constitutes an offence and is
punishable by law. Criminologists look at change within the law, media reactions and statistical trend;
to create theoretical views and concepts to explain crime and the criminal mind. A sexual offence is
defined in the oxford dictionary as The action or an act of forcing an unconsenting person to engage in
sexual activity; a rape; (Law) a crime involving forced sexual contact, variously defined as inclusive
or exclusive of rape. Actual definitions are important in the understanding of a specific crime type and
are regularly updated, especially when it comes to consent; through history, what acts as consent has
been contested. Consent as of 2003 has been defined in section 74 of the sexual offences act (2003) if
he agrees by choice, and has the freedom and capacity to make that choice (CPS, 2017). This means
that consent may be implied, but can be withdrawn at any point. A sexual offence occurs if a sexual

The majority of the world s climate troubles is due to the greenhouse effect. The truth lies within the
data, and it shows that global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect. Four main substances,
carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and the halocarbons, also called the greenhouse gasses, are in
the atmosphere. The greenhouse gasses act as a blanket and capture heat; the more of these gasses
there are, the more heat is trapped (Tremmel Robinson 26 27). To simplify: when sunlight reaches the
Earth, some is absorbed while the rest bounces off into space again. Essentially, the problem presented
in modern times is that huge chunks of light are getting stuck on Earth, and too much interaction is
bad.
But what is the cause of the increasing amount of these greenhouse gasses that slowly destroy our
planet? The simple answer is humans. The Industrial Revolution marked one of the times of human
advancement in technology due to the creation of mass production. In other words, things could be
made easier in larger quantities. This was an incredible human achievement for making life easier, but
at the same time, caused drawbacks to the climate. Nowadays, because of the breakthrough, humans
rely on industry and the usage of fossil fuels for energy. Over time, as human activities related to
burning fossil fuels, clearing land for agriculture, and so

Causes Of The Great Purge In Russia
The collectivization efforts of 1928 came to a head with the central government essentially forcing
peasants to collectivize and attacking the kulaks. Initial efforts backfired with many peasants choosing
to slaughter their animals rather than give them to the collective farm. As for the kulaks, some fled to
the cities to find work while others decided to try and fight back. In retaliation, the OGPU (secret
police) acted quickly and arrested the troublemakers. Massive numbers were deported across the
country and into the Urals, Siberia, or the North. The intense crackdown was eventually a success. By
1932, the per cent of collectivized peasant farms had reached 62% according to official Soviet figures
(Fitzpatrick, 138). The path to collectivized farming in this time period is heavily significant for a

trials so significant is that they showed the lengths that Stalin and his compatriots would go to ensure
their personal safety. All of the accused were found guilty of conspiring with the fascists and Leon
Trotsky (at this point in exile) to bring down the socialist state, and bring a return of capitalism. As
many Western historians have noted, these trials were far from fair. They are generally referred to as

What Is The Butterfly Effect Of It s A Wonderful Life
The butterfly effect is often defined as the concept that small causes can have large effects . This
means that one person can have the power to alter the future of any life they touch and change that
person forever. Sometimes, people might not even realise the influence they have over others, and
sometimes they may use that power and abuse it. It s a Wonderful LIfe displays that every life has the
ability to impact those around it through showing how George Bailey improved life for the residents
of Bedford Falls by saving the lives of others and by taking over his father s business. Moreover, it
was able to show how a person s influence doesn t always need to be positive through characters such
as Mr. Potter. George started to impact the lives of the townspeople greatly without even knowing it at
an extremely young age by saving others. He did this when he saved his brother from drowning at a
young age and when he stopped his boss from accidentally poisoning a bottle of pills after being
overtaken by grief at his son s death. Even though these were already incredibly impactful events,
later Clarence shows George truly how much these events would affect the lives of others. For

Introduction. The Case Study Renovating Home Depot Was
Introduction
The case study Renovating Home Depot was the case of a leader who joined a successful business
only to discover that the company was running out of growth opportunities and also did not have the
basic systems needed for increased growth in place. Robert Bob Nardelli was chosen as the CEO of
Home Depot based on his proven ability to reenergize slow growth businesses. He was a leader that
went all out to achieve his goals and was identified as someone who was comfortable in his own suit ,
and believes in being successful his own way. He made several innovations which were used in
General Electric (GE) where he recorded past successes. We see the success demonstrated in the
growth of revenue in Home Depot, as well as opening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nardelli was also quite weak in Human Resource (HR) and customer service which were the key
aspects of any retailing business that aspires to be successful. Looking at his personality, he was
someone that was full of pride, ego and always like to have his way. He failed to practice consultative
management and was driven by the fact that he wanted to prove Jack Welch (the then CEO, who did
not give him a shot at general management) wrong and he s ready to go to any length to achieve this.
According to one of the store managers that left, he said: after Nardelli arrived, things weren t
presented to you; they were told to you . Considering all of these, I would not hire Nardelli.
2) Describe Home Depot when Nardelli took over. What kind of place was it? Is Nardelli a tyrant or a
strong manager? Support your position.
A strong foundation for success and growth was already in place in Home Depot under Marcus
leadership. The company demonstrated a very strong culture, built on entrepreneurialism and customer
service. Abundant promotion opportunities were created due to rapid growth attracting carpenters,
plumbers and other building professionals as salespeople. Most of the non entry level jobs were filled
internally, and from the 400 department heads, just a dozen came from outside the company.

The Effects Of Social Media On Psychology
If Freud Had a Cell Phone: The Usefulness of Social Media in Psychology
It s two o clock in the morning and the telephone rings, startling the psychologist. Groggily, she
answers not knowing who is on the other end. As the doctor listens carefully to the voice on the phone,
she realizes that it is one that is all too familiar. It s one her patients. This patient has been dealing with
some depression issues and is ready to do something drastic. The psychologist talks calmly with the
patient for several hours to calm the young lady down, all while helping her work through the steps to
feel better again. In a situation such as this one, it was very useful and important for the patient to
have the psychologist s personal cell phone number. Considering that the world has become so
dependent on technology, society has become accustomed to it being a part of daily life. In some
cases, or professions, that may be a good thing. As a psychologist, the use of social media can help
possibly save someone s life. There are quite a few psychology groups on social media sites such as
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter just to name a few that focus on reaching out to people who
possibly need it. There are also some psychologist who use their cell phones to do tele sessions with
their patients who may be unable to come to the office setting. Social media and cell phones allow
psychologists to be in contact with their patients more than ever, which enables them to be a source of

The Controversy Of Male Dominance In Hispanic Culture
Male dominance a subject that is a huge topic of debate. Societies have accepted male dominance
because it has been tradition for culture. For my Hispanic culture it has been seen as a trait of my
culture that a wife would be beaten by their husband. Women throughout history is have not been
treated equal to men. Male dominance is a topic of huge debate. Societies have seen the unjust of male
dominance and hear the stories of female abuse by males. Women were suppressed by males in many
ways. Women were seen as just a symbol of a caretaker and a mother. Recently women are being more
independent and gaining high position jobs but in male dominated jobs. A recent issue of debate is the
wage gap of females and males. Also another topic of dominance ... Show more content on

Evidence to support this claim is that for males it is genetically designed for males to be dominant
because of production of testosterone. The hormones in males causes them to compete for dominance.
Since men have more hormones than women men are more prone to compete for dominance. Reason
why is because of reproduction system. The testosterone gives a masculinizing effect on the brain.
Compete for dominance is shown in politics. Men have more position in government. The British
government has been mostly ruled by a female leader but is in control of a male dominated
government. There is a female position in British politics but is small compared to the amount of
males position. There are more men running the government than women. Indicating more male view
in the government. Some societies were women have more of an economic impact but men are still
given high status than women. Women work more but men are still dominate in power. Because men
give men the high status. Also because men are incredibly determine to gain the high status they
would backstab to gain high status. On the other side of the argument they disagree because of
evidence of no competition between men and

Islam s Influences on the Modern World
The modern world is a mixing pot of different cultures and influences intertwining and overlapping.
The impact of one culture on another can be seen clearly in contemporary Europe, which lays adjacent
to Asia. Over time, European culture has evolved and assimilated with the incorporation of
surrounding influences. Western civilisation has taken inspiration in the innovations and discoveries of
great eastern empires such as the Greek, Roman and Byzantine. Arguably one of the most influential
and historically significant empires to the development of Europe is the Islamic. Islam directly
translates to submission . It is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion, as well as an empire, (which is
focused in the Middle East and Northern Africa). Islam is currently the second most practiced religion
globally. Throughout the Middles ages and the centuries leading up to them Islam was one of few
lifestyles which encouraged culture, art and an open state of mind, making it a perfect breeding
ground for scientific advancement and progression of the arts. Islam has shared some of the greatest
discoveries and revolutions of the pre modern age, all of which have undoubtedly assisted in the
construction of the western world we inhabit. One essential tool Muslims (those devoted to Islam)
have helped develop is mathematics. Algebra is the branch of mathematics including equation solving
and the use of variables to represent the unknown in formulae, and the study/representation of

Lab Report On Calorimetry
Calorimetry Lab Calorimetry is the science of measuring the change in heat absorbed or released
during a chemical reaction. The change in heat can tell us if the reaction is either exothermic it
released or heat into surroundings, or endothermic it absorbed heat from surroundings. The device
used to measure calorimetry is a calorimeter. A calorimeter can range from very expensive lab ones to
coffee styrofoam cups but they are all tightly sealed in order to prevent heat from escaping.
In order to measure the heats of reactions, add the reactants into the calorimeter and measure the
difference between the initial and final temperature. The temperature difference helps us calculate the
heat released or absorbed by the reaction. The equation for calorimetry is q=mc(ΔT). ΔT is the
temperature change, m is the mass, c is the specific heat capacity of the solution, and q is the heat
transfer. Given that the experiment is operated under constant pressure in the lab, the temperature
change is due to the enthalpy of the reaction, therefore the heat of the reaction can be calculated. In
this lab, there are two days. In the first day, there are is part A and part B. Part A is further divided into
three experiments. In experiment one, we were to figure out the heat capacity of the calorimeter that
we made. The next two experiment s goal was to calculate the enthalpy of 2 reactions and using hess s
law, figure out the heat of formation of magnesium oxide. In a reaction, there are

Music And Electronics Aid One Another
Music and electronics aid one another. In one way a person can capture music they love through
technology and electronic companies flourish due to the sale and popularity of these electronic
devices. If a person wants to hear music they will turn on a stereo or TV, choose a CD or DVD to play,
or listen to a songs downloaded in ITunes. All of these devices use electronics to record, play, and
change the way music is heard. A look through history will show how far society has come in music
alone. The development of technology has changed the way the music industry operates and the way
society hears and buys music today.

Poor blacks could also afford the phonograph, and in their minds it was a way to try and achieve
equalities among whites by listening and learning their culture. Repeatability was believed to serve
two main functions: to single out the good music versus the bad and to help listeners to appreciate the
art of the classics. Due to the fact that recording music had a maximum of three to four minutes,
Musicians had to drastically cut the time of their music to make more money. The phonograph was
later called a gramophone and then it was known as the wax cylinder. The phonograph went out of
style when the FM radio was invented and spread throughout American homes.
In 1933, what thought to be just a dream, becomes a reality. Edwin Armstrong invented the FM radio,
the first system to ever broadcast wirelessly was produced. The radio made music affordable for the
consumer, because who would say free music is expensive to listen to. It was also portable as long as a
person had a source of electric power, and it was repeatable because the stations got to choose what
they believed the best songs were. Later on there were the cassette tape, then compact discs (CDs),
and technology kept progressed wonderfully. The biggest invention that changed the way music was
listened to even more is in 1990, when Karlheinz Brandenburg invented the Mp3.
At some point in the late 90s, MP3 was technically the best system out

Money Too Richer While The Poor Are Getting Poorer
The saying goes, the rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. The government has
always had several issues with which to contend, one of the major arguments has been, do the rich pay
enough on taxes? This argument on rich paying enough in taxes has been around since the start of
American history. On one side of the argument, people feel the current tax rates are at maximum
levels, the Buffet rule, which calls for a minimum tax rate of 30 percent on those who make more than
$1 million a year is essentially already in effect (Dubay 353). This argument clearly states the rich are
currently paying more than enough in their fair share of taxes. The other side of the argument is the
rich are not paying enough in taxes. In the bigger picture our country, schools, roads, and people are
going down fast and hard. The government can choose to raise the federal tax rate on the rich but high
earners also happen to be business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs (Dubay 353). The government
s excuse saying high earners are an integral part of the economic opportunity in employing low and
middle class families is only an excuse for letting the rich keep their money and earn more. The
government says the rich are paying their fair share of taxes, fair is paying on all taxable income,
including capital interest to be taxed at a level commensurate with the rich and super rich level.
Who are the rich? President Barack Obama considers a single person making $400,000 a year

ADVANTAGES OF RUBY ON RAILS
Ruby on Rail is constructed by the language of ruby which is a programming language dynamically.
Thus, the basic advantage of Ruby on Rails comes by the language usage, as ruby makes it very easy
to do Meta programming.
One major advantages of Ruby on Rail is its MVC framework, in which RoR offer sever handling
view layers, the models layers (database communication), as well as the interaction between such
layers with the help of controllers. Different frameworks depend on several developmental efforts to
get this.
One more essential feature is the database tables mapping to the objects of Ruby named as models.
The running database along with the application code, already it contain everything Ruby on Rails
needs to know, that s why there is no need to deal with the inner deep details.
In Ruby on Rails, the striking feature is known as scaffolding. With the Ruby on Rails scaffolding,
automatically, it create the operations of CRUD complete set (i.e., Create, Retrieve, Update, as well as
Delete), along with the database table views. Then, they can modify it according to your application

Persuasive Speech For Speech
SUMMER! It s that time of year again and with that comes summer break! , a phrase that brings joy
and a bit of nervousness for parents. As a speech language pathologist, a question heard often from
families this time of year is what can we do at home? . We love this question, because speech practice
can be done from anywhere! I wanted to share with you a few ideas that can be quick, easy, effective,
and FUN.
1. Chalk
Chalk is a must have for summer days. As a child, I can remember drawing endless hopscotch mazes
in the cul de sac with my neighbors and racing to the finish line. Let your kids have a great time being
creative and creating their own courses on the driveway, but encourage them to practice their speech
sounds. For example, you or your child could write or draw pictures of speech words in each square of
hopscotch, so that each time they jump on a square, they practice saying the words.
I also love tracing bodies in chalk and decorating them with funny faces, clothes, etc. This gives your
child opportunity to describe the person, label items, or tell a story about what the person is doing.
2. Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are so fun and can be so beneficial for speech and language goals. For a child
working on speech sounds, you could hide objects or pictures with their sound and let them find them
as fast as they can! As they find them, they can say the word 5 times or describe where it is using
prepositions ( under the trampoline ). They can also practice inferences or guess where the next item
will be ( I think the tennis ball will be in the mailbox ). This is also fun as a flash light scavenger hunt
. You can tape your practice words around the house and turn off the lights or hide objects outside at
night time. Hand your child a flashlight and then go find the words! They can say each word as they
find them!
3. I spy
This is a favorite of mine, because it can be easily adapted to match your child s goals, and you can
never go wrong with a game of I Spy . For younger children who are working on building vocabulary,
this will give them a chance to identify and label objects and actions around the house, playground,
beach, outside, etc. This is also a great time for you to draw their

After her reservoir of tears was all dried up Jackie pulled herself together and got her phone out to text

Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism...
Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is valid to a
certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem to correlate Stalinism to
Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the continuity. However the straight line
theory of the continuity between the two ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the
divergence between them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil
unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the Bolsheviks Leninism
can be seen as more of a revolution from below .
The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its several stages. ...

However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted by the Stalinist
structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore
Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of
propagating socialism to other countries.
In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we must firstly
look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the statement.Secondly, factors
within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly,
the reason for the characterization, on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the Stalinist
regime, likening that to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime.
Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks? Trotsky s
assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected considering that any link
between the two systems would certainly seem to undermine Trotsky s creditably as the appropriate
successor of Lenin.
Trotsky was a renowned revolutionary who played a pivotal role during the Bolshevik Revolutionary.

Essay on Management Theories
After the end of the Industrial Revolution, large corporations were beginning to grow in size and
power in order to satisfy what seemed the endless demands for new goods and services. As
corporations and labor forces grew, there was a need to develop a more systematic study of
organization and management, known as management theory, the significant being Frederick Taylor s
Principles of Scientific Management which involved the development of training workers through
special incentives and compensation (Boone p.33). In general, early management scientists tended to
believe that there was a single way to organize companies and manage employees. By the beginning
of the 20th century, there were initial attempts for launching a systematic and ... Show more content

Herzberg concluded that extrinsic rewards, or hygiene factors, could never create real work
motivation. The growth or motivational factors in a firm include achievement, recognition,
responsibility, and advancement while the dissatisfaction avoidance or hygiene factors consists of
extrinsic factors such as administration, supervision, interpersonal relationships, working conditions
and salary (Boone p.176). Thus, in attempting to enrich an employee s job, it was necessary for
management to reward and recognize personal contribution rather than just giving the employee the
opportunity to growth. This school of thought is known as vertical loading was at the time thought of
to be more rewarding to employees and increase productivity rather than horizontal loading, which did
not concentrate on employees motivational factors.
Unlike Herzberg, who focused on employee recognition and rewards, Peter F. Drucker, a more recent
influential figure in management theory, argued that in modern times, employees in a firm should be
given the opportunity to grow and contribute to management and the decision making process. In his
article, Management s New Paradigms, Drucker asserts that there are many assumptions about
management that are out of date, including the ‘right way to manage people. Every worker place

  • 2. How Does Religion Affect Australian Society Religion is a pivotal aspect in society to date with a diverse array of religions known to be practised in Australia, creating opportunities to embrace individuality though also sparking social divisions. French sociologist, Emile Durkheim described religion as a unified system of beliefs and practices relative to sacred things, that is to say, things set apart and forbidden beliefs and practices which unite into one single moral community (Jones, 2011). So how does religion influence Australian society? With a vast incline in religions practised in Australia, it is extremely feasible to presume that it does affect Australia significantly. It is through cultural diversity, morality and ethics and laws in which the true relevance of religion in Australian society can be identified. Religion has had an extensive influence on Australian society in regards to cultural diversity. With the implementation of a government policy in the 1970s introducing multiculturalism, this has seen a vast increase in the acceptance of diverse cultures into Australia. This not only created a coherent society but also allowed people to experience different religious beliefs and the cultural practises which stem from this. As identified in the 2011 Census, Christianity is one of the most practised religions in Australia where 61% of the population were affiliated with Christianity according to Australian Bureau of Statistics in 2012. This is followed by 22.3% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Moral Ambiguity in The Stranger Essay Has there ever existed a person that has not judged someone else over their lifetime? Judging by reality as well as literature it seems that no person like that has ever existed. It appears that it is human nature to want to pronounce others as either purely good or evil. But does everyone fit into the mold of good or evil? In Albert Camus s The Stranger, Meursault is a morally ambiguous character, and this ethical indistinctness plays a major part in the novel as a whole and the theme that Camus is trying to portray. Meursault resists being typecast into an archetypal moral category in many of his deeds and actions. Many of his actions in Part One of the novel help contribute to the fuzzy picture of the character. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abstractly, it almost seems as though the other characters in the book look down on his for this not because he is not mourning, but rather because he is not mourning in the way they are. This sheds light on the overall theme of the novel, that of people being cast out of society because their views and methods do not line up with the accepted ways of society. The same moral ambiguity is also present in Meursault s murder of the Arab and the ensuing trial. As far as absolute morality goes, the murder is without question an act that falls on the evil side of ethics. That point is not a topic for debate, but in the reasons behind it the reader can find even more of Meursault s moral ambiguity. At the time, he does not seem to know why he is doing what he is doing, but it is certainly not out of spite or malice, nor out of any specific hatred of the Arab himself. He could be harboring a grudge on behalf of his friend, which would be understandable, since Raymond is one of the only people we see Meursault truly connect with in the novel, if it can even be called that. He could be taking preemptive action in self defense, especially after he sees the knife glinting in the Arab s hand. In truth, it is never truly revealed what his motive for his rash action was, making it hard again to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Making An Investment In A Foreign Market Making an Investment in a Foreign Market Name: Institution Making an Investment in a Foreign Market Introduction As globalization intensifies, the business community tends to expand its operations towards the international market. This can be as a result of intense competition in the local market, need to increase sales and profits margins, to enhance the company s prestige, to create jobs, to increase the value of the entrepreneurs among others (Bodie, 2013). Before going global, the company s executive has to consider factors that favour or hinder their goal towards achieving international recognition in trade. This paper reviews the topic on Making an Investment in a Foreign Market and factors considered. BP, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The high population of the middle class in the country also meant that the client base was almost ascertained. I also noted that Total s presence in the market was a rivalry threat to the company. The suppliers of the product that the company intends to produce and sell were not yet ascertained and this provided a setback. After analysing all the factors that favour the company s investment against those that deter its choice of investing, I ascertained that the increase in revenue of the firm and reduction in the cost of operating in the foreign market was a probability thereby the value of the firm would be increased (Kotler Kotler, 2014). Rarity. I looked at whether the firm had a valuable resource or capability that made it unique and different from its competitor Total. BP s strategic statement indicates that the company intends to produce energy in a more efficient ways using new technology that will not only lead to production of clean products but also meet the consumers demands by providing competitive prices and products that fit the consumers preferences. Uniqueness could be achieved through product packaging, service delivery and advertising. Through packaging, I came up with the idea that we should package our products using environmentally friendly material, durable, easy to handle and clean material that would make the client fall in love with our products and differentiate it from other products. • 5. Tomplait s Claims Against Johns-Manville HISTORY OF THE ASBESTOS LITIGATION Tomplait: In 1961, Claude Tomplait was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, probably as a result of inhaling asbestos fibers. He asked Ward Stephenson, who was a well known attorney specialized in industrial accident cases, to file a workmen s compensation claim against Johns Manville and several other major asbestos industries. The Claim was denied by the Texas Industrial Accident Board. Stephenson later advised Tomplait to accept settlement from three insurance companies that totaled $7,500, a decision that he was queasy about but compelled to accept due to some conflicts over Tomplait s diagnosis of his chest condition. A few months later, however, Stephenson filed a complaint against 11 asbestos insulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because lawyers were able to recruit huge number of claimants,66 through 2002, it was estimated that 730,000 of the individuals who were exposed to asbestos, have brought claims against more than 8400 companies. Consequently, companies have spent $70 billion on these claims, and costs are expected to triple or even quadruple (up to $210 billion). The number of firms involved in asbestos litigations increased from 300 firms in 1982 to more than 6,000 in 2000.67 There are at least 300,000 asbestos claims pending nationwide,68 and therefore, there is a serious concern that funds will dry up quickly and future claimants will not be sufficiently compensated.67 The vast majority of these claims are coming from plaintiffs who have no impairment, because they are subject to statutes of limitations that begin when they discover evidence of asbestos exposure. These huge number of claims are exhausting a considerable money and court s time and forcing firms into bankruptcy.69 Second hand asbestos exposure claims, also known as take home claims, are now an increasingly growing issue too.70 Examples of these claims involved wives who laundered their husbands clothes that were contaminated with asbestos from work sites for many years resulting in mesothelioma.71,72 In an attempt to plan for future litigation, there were several attempts to estimate future impact of asbestos exposure on the morbidity and mortality of the population exposed, however, future projections are challenging for several reasons. First, injuries that have occurred in the past due to asbestos exposure were rarely documented, second, the latency period between exposure and occurrence of symptoms is several decades. In addition, mesothelioma was not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Isolation In M. L. Stedman s The Light Between Oceans The chains of the decision wrap themselves insidiously around his torso, binding the man while the woman sits smiling in the corner ignoring his pleas. Sometimes the cold metal shifts and loosens its harsh grip when the child rests her small hands on them or the woman gets up and whispers in his ear, but never long enough to let him forget. Just like these constraints, Tom Sherbourne faces suffocating guilt about failing to report Lucy and Frank s mysterious arrival to Janus and subsequently claiming the girl as his own daughter with his wife Isabel in M.L. Stedman s The Light Between Oceans. Throughout his marriage, Tom struggles deeply with the fluctuating concept of right and wrong, which is shaped by various factors in his life. In the ... However, Tom originally found solace in the removal from society as it helped ease the memories of the war and his childhood with its simplicity and predictability. As the couple settles and Lucy arrives, the motif of isolation and the island itself darkens to represent a prison, entrapping Tom and overwhelming him with the lies, guilt and knowledge of Hannah suffering miles away. Unlike if Tom were on the mainland where it is much more difficult to escape the constant reminder of their choice, he manages to subdue his restless conscience at times so that isolation lulls him with music of the lie (159). Isabel experiences a similar effect brought on by the years of seclusion. During her cathartic visit with Ralph, Isabel admits to the powerful force of the island on her judgement: Janus was real. Lucy was real. Everything else was just make belief (310). Isolation makes it easier for both Isabel and Tom to forget about Hannah and the rest of the world like they are no more than an exciting story out of a book once read, closed and then tucked neatly away in the closet to be revisited ... • 7. Implementing A Comprehensive Audit Plan Essay Abstract This paper will discuss the hot topics in emerging issues that was discussed in previous assignments. Several companies can benefit from finding ways to implement a comprehensive audit plan to reduce the likelihood of fraud occurring. Ideas associated with the SDLC and how to create phases that will fall in line with this execution are also detailed in this assignment. The SDLC assists in reducing fraud and cannot be applied lightly; this plan makes the process of fraud prevention and detection easier to succumb. Updating policies and procedures is an ongoing process that cannot go unkempt. Establishing a Comprehensive Audit Plan The acronym SDLC is explained as a software development lifecycle. The phases of the SDLC include analysis and definition phases, where the purpose should be determined, the goals that need to be accomplished, and a set of definite requirements. Establishing a comprehensive audit plan is integral in fulfilling the successful and quality financials for a business. This should be done at the inception of creating the company as well as routinely checked on a consistent basis. This used in accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act will guarantee that the company has a sure way to mitigate the fraud opportunity that may occur during the time of day to day operations (Strayer University 2013). • 8. Why soldiers enlisted in WW1 Essay To what extent did Australian s enlist in 1914 to defend the Mother Country ? There are many reasons to why Australian s went to war in the 1914; everyone had different reasons for applying for this life threatening job. Some went for the thrill, to get a job, to get away from the drought and some people even had war fever. On the other hand, some people went because they felt like it was the right thing to do and because everyone else was doing it. A lot of time people think only about the soldiers that went to war and forget about the women who also enlisted as nurses and did other important jobs. When one of these three genes are reformed, a toxic fragment called amyloid beta peptides is created in the brain. The peptide will then produce clumps in the brain, called amyloid plaques, which is a characteristic of Alzheimer s disease. An accumulation of toxic amyloid plaques will most likely cause death to the nerve cells and show symptoms of the disease. This mutation carries on from parent to child, making the disease hereditary. Researchers say that people with Down syndrome have a high risk of developing Alzheimer s ... • 12. A Sociological Perspective On Homelessness Currently, the rates of homelessness in America continue to drastically increase. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (2012) depicted how many people are homeless in a single night in America. The findings revealed that there were approximately 633,782 people who are homeless in America or 20 out of every 10,000. Approximately 394,379 are single individuals and 239,403 are people in families with 77,157 homeless families in a single night, and approximately 162, 246 are children. Veterans are more likely to be homeless than those who are non veterans, approximately 29 out of every 10,000 veterans are homeless. Unfortunately, 38 percent of those who are homeless are unsheltered, either living on the streets or in places that are not suitable for human inhabitation. Most states account of for less than 1% of homeless population, whereas Texas contains approximately 5.4% of America s homeless population. In San Antonio, there are approximately 2,981 people who are homeless each day, and 1,243 are unsheltered. Through a sociological perspective, the social problems of homelessness can be analyzed through the concept of sociological imagination, the comparison of the person blame approach and the system blame approach, and through the analysis of one s own community s effort in helping those who are homeless. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of the world s climate troubles is due to the greenhouse effect. The truth lies within the data, and it shows that global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect. Four main substances, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and the halocarbons, also called the greenhouse gasses, are in the atmosphere. The greenhouse gasses act as a blanket and capture heat; the more of these gasses there are, the more heat is trapped (Tremmel Robinson 26 27). To simplify: when sunlight reaches the Earth, some is absorbed while the rest bounces off into space again. Essentially, the problem presented in modern times is that huge chunks of light are getting stuck on Earth, and too much interaction is bad. The Industrial Revolution marked one of the times of human advancement in technology due to the creation of mass production. In other words, things could be made easier in larger quantities. This was an incredible human achievement for making life easier, but at the same time, caused drawbacks to the climate. • 26. Lab Report On Calorimetry Calorimetry Lab Calorimetry is the science of measuring the change in heat absorbed or released during a chemical reaction. The change in heat can tell us if the reaction is either exothermic it released or heat into surroundings, or endothermic it absorbed heat from surroundings. The device used to measure calorimetry is a calorimeter. A calorimeter can range from very expensive lab ones to coffee styrofoam cups but they are all tightly sealed in order to prevent heat from escaping. In order to measure the heats of reactions, add the reactants into the calorimeter and measure the difference between the initial and final temperature. The temperature difference helps us calculate the heat released or absorbed by the reaction. The equation for calorimetry is q=mc(ΔT). ΔT is the temperature change, m is the mass, c is the specific heat capacity of the solution, and q is the heat transfer. Given that the experiment is operated under constant pressure in the lab, the temperature change is due to the enthalpy of the reaction, therefore the heat of the reaction can be calculated. In this lab, there are two days. In the first day, there are is part A and part B. Part A is further divided into three experiments. In experiment one, we were to figure out the heat capacity of the calorimeter that we made. The government has always had several issues with which to contend, one of the major arguments has been, do the rich pay enough on taxes? On one side of the argument, people feel the current tax rates are at maximum levels, the Buffet rule, which calls for a minimum tax rate of 30 percent on those who make more than $1 million a year is essentially already in effect (Dubay 353). • 30. Persuasive Speech For Speech SUMMER! It s that time of year again and with that comes summer break! , a phrase that brings joy and a bit of nervousness for parents. As a speech language pathologist, a question heard often from families this time of year is what can we do at home? . We love this question, because speech practice can be done from anywhere! I wanted to share with you a few ideas that can be quick, easy, effective, and FUN. 1. Chalk Chalk is a must have for summer days. As a child, I can remember drawing endless hopscotch mazes in the cul de sac with my neighbors and racing to the finish line. Let your kids have a great time being creative and creating their own courses on the driveway, but encourage them to practice their speech sounds. For example, you or your child could write or draw pictures of speech words in each square of hopscotch, so that each time they jump on a square, they practice saying the words. I also love tracing bodies in chalk and decorating them with funny faces, clothes, etc. This gives your child opportunity to describe the person, label items, or tell a story about what the person is doing. 2. Scavenger Hunt Scavenger hunts are so fun and can be so beneficial for speech and language goals. For a child working on speech sounds, you could hide objects or pictures with their sound and let them find them as fast as they can! As they find them, they can say the word 5 times or describe where it is using prepositions ( under the trampoline ). They can also practice inferences or guess where the next item will be ( I think the tennis ball will be in the mailbox ). This is also fun as a flash light scavenger hunt . You can tape your practice words around the house and turn off the lights or hide objects outside at night time. Hand your child a flashlight and then go find the words! They can say each word as they find them! 3. I spy This is a favorite of mine, because it can be easily adapted to match your child s goals, and you can never go wrong with a game of I Spy . For younger children who are working on building vocabulary, this will give them a chance to identify and label objects and actions around the house, playground, beach, outside, etc. This is also a great time for you to draw their ... Jackie looked over at her phone that was sitting on blue desk in the far corner of her room. Her room was a blue green with bright purple stripes on the back wall. Her comforter cover was bright yellow and she had three pillows on her bed all with different colored pillow cases on them. Jackie loved her room. It was bright and colorful. It had every memory Jackie had ever had stored in it. Whether that memory was in a drawer or taped onto the wall with neon pink duct tape, that memory was still in her room. Goodluck having a good time now, Laurel walked away cackling like a witch. Jackie looked around at all the people she considered to be her friends. Every single one of them chose Laurel over her. Jackie took one last look at the people she once had loved and turned around. She ran as fast as she could in her too tight jeans to the soccer bleachers. She ran up to the very top of them and went into the corner where the top fence met the side railing and sat down. She looked up at the sky trying to get the tears to go back into her eyes, but her efforts were fruitless. She gave up and let the tears pour out of her eyes. Jackie never cried, but now, more than ever, she couldn t hold it in. Every emotion she had held inside of her from the past few days was coming out now. She cried for what seemed like forever. After her reservoir of tears was all dried up Jackie pulled herself together and got her phone out to text her dad to come and get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism... Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is valid to a certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem to correlate Stalinism to Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the continuity. However the straight line theory of the continuity between the two ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the divergence between them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the Bolsheviks Leninism can be seen as more of a revolution from below . The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its several stages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted by the Stalinist structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of propagating socialism to other countries. In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we must firstly look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the statement.Secondly, factors within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly, the reason for the characterization, on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the Stalinist regime, likening that to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime. Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks? Trotsky s assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected considering that any link between the two systems would certainly seem to undermine Trotsky s creditably as the appropriate successor of Lenin. Trotsky was a renowned revolutionary who played a pivotal role during the Bolshevik Revolutionary. He was born on November 7th, 1879 in Yanovka, Ukraine, to Jewish parents. • 38. Essay on Management Theories After the end of the Industrial Revolution, large corporations were beginning to grow in size and power in order to satisfy what seemed the endless demands for new goods and services. As corporations and labor forces grew, there was a need to develop a more systematic study of organization and management, known as management theory, the significant being Frederick Taylor s Principles of Scientific Management which involved the development of training workers through special incentives and compensation (Boone p.33). In general, early management scientists tended to believe that there was a single way to organize companies and manage employees. By the beginning of the 20th century, there were initial attempts for launching a systematic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Herzberg concluded that extrinsic rewards, or hygiene factors, could never create real work motivation. The growth or motivational factors in a firm include achievement, recognition, responsibility, and advancement while the dissatisfaction avoidance or hygiene factors consists of extrinsic factors such as administration, supervision, interpersonal relationships, working conditions and salary (Boone p.176). Thus, in attempting to enrich an employee s job, it was necessary for management to reward and recognize personal contribution rather than just giving the employee the opportunity to growth. This school of thought is known as vertical loading was at the time thought of to be more rewarding to employees and increase productivity rather than horizontal loading, which did not concentrate on employees motivational factors. Unlike Herzberg, who focused on employee recognition and rewards, Peter F. Drucker, a more recent influential figure in management theory, argued that in modern times, employees in a firm should be given the opportunity to grow and contribute to management and the decision making process. In his article, Management s New Paradigms, Drucker asserts that there are many assumptions about management that are out of date, including the ‘right way to manage people. Every worker place ...
