Calpurnia Tate Analysis
In The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate in chapter 16 the city of Fentress, Texas gets a telephone line
that connects them to the state capitol of Austin, Texas which is approximately 45 miles away.
This is a huge change for the residents of Fentress because they are finally able to communicate to
another town without having to drive there. The telephone line is a sign that the city of Fentress is
finally evolving to become a more modern city even though they are taking more time than the
larger cities. The quote is saying that not all cities can evolve at the same time and that some of
them may take more time than others, and the cities that do not evolve or modernize will become
extinct. In chapter 16 Fentress gets a telephone line and the city

A Study On The Oriental Market Essay
It is quite surprising that I found an oriental market in Lincoln. In my imagination, big city like
New York, California is more diverse than a small city like Lincoln. As a business student, it also
triggers my curiosity on how the business survives in a place, where not many Asians were
living. To satisfy my curiosity in the business, I decided to take a trip to explore the oriental
market. The oriental market is located at 612 N 27th St, Lincoln. Outside the store, there is a
spacious space that let the customers to park their vehicles. There is lift truck, and a stack of old
pallets. As I entered the store, the cashiers greeted me. The first sight that I saw as I entered the
store was the beverages were surrounded along the cashier counter. It was a shield to protect the
cashier counter. The environment, decorations, and smell of the store gave me a sense of
familiarity, which is like the store in my hometown. At the left side of the shop, there was a row of
refrigerator along the wall. In each refrigerator, it included various brands of beverages, ice creams,
meats, vegetables, mushrooms and frozen foods. First column contained garlic, onions, potatoes,
and other vegetables. Second column contained mostly all the cookingpastes, and some mixed
herbs. Third column contained spices, like dried chili. Fourth column contained various types of
sauces. Fifth column contained soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and more. The last column was
mostly instant noodles, where

Monitoring Of Competitors Come Into Play At The Grand...
At what stage does ongoing active monitoring of competitors come into play in the grand scheme of
an SEO campaign?
The digital world can be pretty cutthroat. It s not enough to simply be aware of who your
competitors are, you also need to be aware of what they re doing and how they re doing it. Not
only will this help you to stay competitive, you can critically evaluate what works and what doesn t
without needing to take a trial and error approach with your own content.
While the prospect of corporate espionage might sound like the obvious way to get the scoop,
there are easier ways to find the information you need than stalking a rival SEO Manager.
The magpie approach borrow your way to a better SEO strategy
SEO is a mixture of attracting customers and outdoing your competitors. It s best to assume that

an in depth understanding of what your rivals are doing will help you work out why they re doing
it, why it s working for them and how you ll be able to emulate or improve their tactics.
It s not about copying; it s simply about seeing why customers are choosing a competitor s
products or services over your own. If you ve ever wondered why you can t get that critical lead on
your rivals, then monitoring is an essential part of strengthening your SEO strategy.

Themes and Fate in The Awakening and Madame Bovary
Kate Chopin s The Awakening and Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary are both tales of women
indignant with their domestic situations; the distinct differences between the two books can be
found in the authors unique tones. Both authors weave similar themes into their writings such as,
the escape from the monotony of domestic life, dissatisfaction with marital expectations and
suicide. References to fate abound throughout both works. In The Awakening, Chopin uses fate to
represent the expectations of Edna Pontellier s aristocratic society. Flaubert uses fate to portray his
characters compulsive methods of dealing with their guilt and rejecting of personal ... Show more

light was beginning to dawn dimly within her, the light which, showing the way, forbids it. (P 13 :
The Awakening) As she explores her world, other men, swimming, and her other romantic pursuits,
she experiences her epiphany; she finds that the world has much to offer and kills herself in the
lamentation of that which she cannot truly have.
Edna finds herself filled with An indescribable oppression, which seemed to generate in some

being confined into her aristocratic society.
Emma Bovary, being both protagonist and antagonist, by contrast experiences her epiphany solely

Media Censorship Affects The News You See
The Article How Media Censorship Affects The News You See talks about how the government
blocks the information from reaching you. It talks about the act of censorship and how it can be
seen when a person s private information is concealed, graphic details and images are kept
hidden, hiding political bias viewpoints, etc. This is a start to a dystopian society, as news
programs have the control and power to change real information with false facts, leading the public
to believe lies. This can be seen in a more extreme manner in the novel Fahrenheit 451by Ray
Bradburyon page 32, when Montag is given a rule book containing a brief history of the Firemen in

Lacks And Henrietta Lacks
Imagine having no rights in life. Imagine one day you get sick, and you go to the hospital to get
better, but you get taken advantage of. How would all that make you feel? Henrietta Lacks was
an African American woman. During her time, women didn t have equal rights like men did,
and African Americans didn t have equal rights like white people did. Since Henrietta was an
African American woman she had it rough, there were times that everyday tasks were a
struggle. In 1951 she was diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer. She was treated at John
Hopkins University, where doctors didn t do all they could even if they said that was the case,
and were Doctor George Gey took her cells from her cervix without consent. I watched the Law
and Order episode titled Immortal , I found it to be extremely similar to a book I read titled The
Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacksby Rebecca Sklooteven though the show said in the beginning
that this was not based on a true story. There were many similarities that I spotted between
Immortal and Henrietta Lacks. Some of the similarities were within the storyline, others were in
characters. Henrietta had six siblings and five kids. There are three of her kids that I want to talk
about specifically, Deborah, Zakariyya, and Elsie. Deborah s learning of everything is the main
point in the book but also having the readers learn what happened to Henrietta and her family is
extremely important. Deborah was Hennrietta and Day s 4th

The Outsiders By Francis Coppola
The Outsiders a film directed by Francis Coppola s is about two social groups of teenagers who
attends the same high school and live in the same town. Although both two social groups live in
the same area, they live a completely different life. A group known as the South Side Socials
(aka socs ), are the upper class teenagers, while the Greasers, are the less fortunate kids, who just
so happen to live on the wrong side of town. These two social groups have had a conflict against
one another for several years, but on one specific evening, this rivalry turns deadly as one of the
greasers, Johnny, stabs and murders a socs. Due to the passing of one of the Socs, the Socs tried
to avenge the death of their friend, while the greasers tried to get the town to comprehend that
the Socs were also at fault during that conflict. The Outsider is an exceptional film depicting
how social groups can explain our behavior, and how deviance and crime are observed in relation
to our social group. A social group is defined as a group of two or more people who interact
frequently with one another, shares a portion sense of belonging and have a sensation of
interdependence. As seen in the film, both the Socs and the greasers care deeply for each
associate of the corresponding group. Towards the end of the film, as Johnny is being hospitalized
for severe burns, Pony Boy expresses himself by stating the fact that things would be different if he
pass away. Over the years the Greasers formed

Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Are men always supposed to be represented as superior and tough? The novel, Things Fall Apart is
about the tragic fall of the Ibo culture and main character Okonkwo. Reason why things fall apart is
due to the men within the Ibo culture converting to a new religion. Chinua Achebe shows that men
in the Ibo culture are expected to be superior, successful, and strong. Okonkwo is one man who
embodies all the traits of a successful man. Achebe also shows how unsuccessful men of the Ibo

in order to keep a farm in good shape, multiple tasks have to be done. The numerous tasks are:
feeding livestock, harvesting yams, and cleaning. Another example is when Agbala is telling
Unoka, When your neighbors go out with their axe to cut down virgin forests. They cross seven
rivers to make their farms (17). Agbala tells Unoka this because Unoka is an example of a
unsuccessful man. Unoka has a farm but the farm is so bad it doesn t even require hard

What really makes men in the Ibo culture successful is titles. Titles are everything in the Ibo

John Augustine s Confessing And Recounting Moments
Saint Augustine, also known as Augustine of Hippo, was born on 354 AD in a North African
county in present day Algeria. Throughout of his life, Augustine has endured a lot of hard ships
and lessons that he wanted to share with others. He decided in 397 AD to compose an
autobiographical book confessing and recounting moments in his life. Confessions by Saint
Augustine are a 13 book series comprised of Augustine s life and how he became to be one of the
most important priests during his time.
During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a
young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how
can we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation
contains God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine
found God in a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in
everything he has done. An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were
waiting for him, but God gave him the milk in his mother s breast to nourish him. This is in
accordance to the plan of creation.
He later recalls his and other babies experience with crying and pouting for the milk. Augustine
believes that babies are not innocent because the get jealous and sin. The only innocent feature on
a baby is their frame. He is using babies as a metaphor in saying that all humans are born with
original sin.

Skinner s Behavioral Approach On Analyzing Myself
Behaviorism and Attachment
For this paper I am going to focus on B. F. Skinner s Behavioral Approach on analyzing myself.
Behaviorism emerged in the early years of the twentieth century as a counterbalance to the
psychoanalytic approaches of therapy and psychology. Skinner was born in 1904, just nine years
after Freud published Studies on Hysteria. Both of these opposing theories, psychoanalysis and
behaviorism, have greatly influenced the way we think of the human mind. I lean more towards the
behaviorists approach because what I have read about Skinner has resonated with me. I will use
behaviorism to approach my own inner introspection and hopefully come away from this more
enlightened about myself. The classic nature verse nurture debate has been rocking the boat in
psychology since Socrates time. Skinner and behaviorists tend to lean much more towards the
nurture side of this debate, believing that an individual s behavior is a direct consequence of what
that individual has experienced in the past, especially within the context of reinforcement and
punishment. Because of this emphasis on nurture, genes and genetics do not play as much of a
role as the experiences one receives after being born. The genes that one is born with gives the
individual the genetic constitution that is capable of responding to external stimuli. If one has
inherited genes that code for a more aggressive response to external stimuli, then that person may
have a greater ability to be aggressive

Images and Imagery in Macbeth Essay
Imagery in Macbeth
The Bard of Avon considers imagery one of many elements in his tragedy Macbeth which give
underpinning to the theme of the drama. The imagery might be said to be not a goal in itself but a
means to an end.
In Fools of Time: Studies in Shakespearean Tragedy, Northrop Frye shows how the playwright uses
imagery to reinforce the theme:
This theme is at its clearest where we are most in sympathy with the nemesis. Thus at the end of
Macbeth, after the proclamation the time is free, and of promises to make reparations of Macbeth s
tyranny Which would be planted newly with the time, there will be a renewal not only of time but
of the whole rhythm of nature symbolized by the word measure, which includes both the ... Show

To listen to the witches, it is suggested, is like eating the insane root, That takes the reason prisoner

of light but light thickens the presence of something positively oppressive and impeding. (101)

all say together the mysterious and contradictory Fair is foul, and foul is fair. King Duncan learns

Rhetorical Criticism
Rhetorical Criticism: Exam
Question One
Rhetorical criticism allows for people to further understand signs and symbols in today s world.
Specifically, the understanding of the relationships that an audience connects with certain signs
and symbols. This is where persuasion comes into play. Signs and symbols are used to persuade
people everyday, meaning advertisements, large companies, and other institutions, use signs and
symbols to persuade their audience. Many people associate specific signs and symbols with
different ideas. An example would be that a baby symbolizes life for some people, while on the
other hand a baby could represent the future for someone else. As stated in one of the first lectures

The traditional method holds the explanation and evaluation close to the core when critiquing,
whereas the narrative method is deemed as looser when using explanation and evaluation. When
applying the narrative method, the evaluation of the source plays on two elements, the narrative
possibility and fidelity. The former touches on the story being realistic and the components of the
story making sense, or in other words adding up. The latter allows the critic to analyze and figure
out if the story is true due to other stories and personal experiences. These elements also allow the
critic to discover the credibility of the source or author of the message. Through this evaluation is
when the narrative method displays if the narrative given achieves the function of persuasion. On
the other hand, when applying the traditional perspective, the evaluation centers on analyzing the
message for how well it was put together considering the audience and context, and the
understanding of the source, for credibility. All of these components are considered the explanation
of the rhetorical features of the text, and lead to whether or not the persuasive goal was reached.
The ideas of source credibility, and the end goal of persuading the audience are huge similarities
between the two methods. Differences

Ontological Argument
Ontological Argument
One of the most fascinating arguments for the existence of an all perfect God is the ontological
argument. Ontological arguments are arguments to prove the existence of God based on pure
reason alone. They attempt to show that we can deduce God s existence from, so to speak, the very
definition of God. St. Anselm of Canterbury proposed the first and most well known ontological
argument in 1078 in his Proslogion, but it was actually Immanuel Kant, an 18th century German
philosopher, who first called the argument ontological.
In his argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be conceived. This can
be interpreted as defining God as maximal perfection, or the greatest possible being. It ... Show

He thought the ontological argument was flawed. Any argument for the existenceof God based on
the proposition that a God that exists in reality is greater than a God that exists in the
imagination is based on a confusion. According to Kant, the confusion lies in the fact that
existence is not a predicate. A predicate is a property that a thing can either possess or lack.
When people say that God exists, they are not saying that there is a God and He possesses the
property of existence. If they did, they would be saying that there is a God, but he lacks the
property of existence, confirming and denying God s existence at the same time. Kant suggests
that to say that something exists is to say that the concept of that thing is demonstrated in the
world. Existence is then not a matter of a thing possessing a property (existence) but of a concept
corresponding to something in the world. For example, if we are given a complete description of
an object and then it is added to the description that the object exists, in saying that it exists adds
nothing to the idea of the object. The object is the same whether it exists or not.
If Kant is correct in his view that existence is not a property of objects, then it is impossible to
compare a God that exists to a God that does not. In Kant s eyes, a God that exists and a God that
does not are identical. A God that exists is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, etc. A God that
does not exist is

The exposure of religion usually starts at a young age, or in people s teenage years. When
somebody is not exposed at these ages they usually seek it out for themselves or never do. When
they know nothing about religion or care nothing about it they usually disregard morals. This
means they do what they want because they do not believe in right and wrong. When they do not
believe in these things they are usually seen as outsiders to the rest of the world. Their way of life
is affected like their emotions, relationships, and judgement. It is hard for them to get into a

because they had gotten into an argument earlier in the day one in which Raymond had been

This statement was only made on the physical behavior Meursault was displaying on the day of

The chapter in Autobiography of a Yogi that is significant to me was Chapter 38. This chapter
resonated with me and there is much wisdom from the beliefs of humanity. There were things I
found helpful from this class and things I found interesting like the discussions and teachings on
how to live calm with breathing techniques and postures.
The chapter I chose to write about from Autobiography of a Yogi was Chapter 38 which is
named Luther Burbank A Saint Amidst the Roses . Luther Burbank was close friend of
Yogananda. They both learned much from each other s beliefs on the world and had great passion
about the world. Burbank spoke of how he had a secret on how he improved plant breeding apart
from science, which was love. He would talk to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found meditation helpful because it was a great way to escape from life for a small amount of
time. In class I learned of how people may stop using substances and alcohol because of yoga, it
becomes their new way of escape. Meditation became an option for me to escape. The deep
breathing and tensing helped me out the most when it comes to focusing and relaxing. What I
enjoyed most was the effects of the back bends and front bends in yoga, I felt the most relaxed
and or energized during those type of postures. During meditation what helped me to meditate to
my fullest ability were the affirmations, most of the time the affirmations had an effect on me.
The quotes mentioned in class were inspirational to me and allowed me to understand the
thinking of yoga. One of my favorite quotes from class is a quote I always remember by Hafiz
Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, You owe me. Look what happens with a
love like that. It lights the whole sky . The topics that I found interesting were the discussions on
how yoga would help with our daily lives. At first I had much trouble with postures and was also
discouraged. Throughout the semester I managed to be comfortable with where I m at and improve
at a small pace and attempt to not compare myself to others in

The Environmental Effects Of Plastics
Plastic bags have been a popular commodity since the 1970 s due to their convenience and
sturdiness; however, plastic bags are a victim of their own success. These flyaway bags have
detrimental effects on the environment; they fill the trees and clog the storm drains. In response,
many states in the U.S. have imposed bag taxes in an effort to reduce their use. These taxes have
reduced the frivolous use of plastic bags and have heightened our awareness of their detrimental
effects, but concerns arise over the negative effects of the taxes on the economy and, surprisingly,
the environment as well.

This poses an economic threat for retailers. The economic advantage of plastic bags are too
significant for retailers to ignore. While advocates of these taxes argue that it will reduce the use of
plastic bags, many argue that these taxes fail to protect the environment and economy of the U.S.
Over a 100 cities across the U.S. have imposed taxes on plastic bags after watching countries in
Europe have favorable results. Tony Lowes, director of the Friends of the Irish Environment,
claims that Ireland s 15 cent tax on plastic bags has resulted in a 95 percent reduction in their use
(qtd. in Roach 3). Similarly, cities in the U.S. imposed taxes in an effort to achieve effective
results. A bag tax in Washington D.C. has resulted in a 50 percent decrease in single bag usage
(Bayly 3). On the other side of the country, Los Angeles went from using 2.2 million bags a year
to using 125,000 a year after the tax on bags went into effect (Bayly 3); nonetheless, advocates of
plastic bags have brought to light the harsh reality of taxes. Bag taxes pose an economic threat
for both retailers and consumers. Areas that have imposed taxes experienced a decrease in sales
while areas not subject to taxes experienced an increase in sales. According to a survey conducted
by the National Center for Policy Analysis, these taxes force many stores to reduce their
employment by more than 10% (qtd. in Gleason 4). Plastic bag taxes make grocery shopping

Space Travel

Abstract
Funding by the government allows selected human beings to experience a world beyond the
atmosphere of earth. Some of mans greatest accomplishments have occurred in space, such as the
moon landing. Space travel not only provides the delightful experience, but it also helps us to
better our technology as the year s progress. Although these are positive aspects of space travel,
there are negative aspects that strongly linger, making space travel not so promising. As you may
know, funding for space travel has cost the people in our society a great deal of money. The
government has managed to put the U.S. in debt causing an economic domino effect on other
sectors of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem is the U.S. doesn t have billions of dollars to throw around, so most of the money
used for space travel is budgeted into the U.S. deficit. This deficit affects all U.S. citizens through
taxes, interest rates, consumption, and investment. Society as a whole is affected tremendously
economically. Now when a natural disaster occurs all the money is tied up in the deficit, and
federal agencies battle over where the disaster relief money should come from. While all this
bickering is taking place within the government, millions of people could be in grave danger. Just
a couple of months ago America witnessed an event similar to this one involving Hurricane
Katrina. Government agencies took too long to aid the relief and hundreds of people died.
Government has been known for centuries to be very slow in decision making. If the Government
allocated money more efficiently then some of the nations financial problems could be solved. As
with any advancement of technology, the moon landing had both positive and negative aspects
associated with it. On the positive side, the moon landing paved the way for future space exploration
. The trip was a huge success for the forward movement of mankind. The capabilities of the lunar
module and other devices allowed scientists to determine the best designs and techniques for space
travel. Technologies used in space from past explorations are being used on Earth;

Cold War Ethical Reflection
Reflection of the Cold War The Cold War, from 1945 to 1991, is one of the most important
periods of time that has greatly influenced and shaped the modern world. It was not just a battle
between two super powers, the USA and the Soviet Union, but also a clash of two really popular
ideologies during that time. There was the American claim of fighting for freedom and democracy
and the Soviet claims of fighting for the interests of the workers and the common people. Now in
theory, these ideologies seemed ethical, but throughout this period, both countries actions severely
opposed the ideologies they represented on numerous occasions. Some say it all came down to a

The Marshal Plan although was one of the greatest actions USA had taken and they gave about 13
million dollars in aid to the war devastated countries in order to help them rebuild. Some might
argue that they only did this to improve their trade business with these countries and to help form
NATO in order to compete with the Soviets and this is partially true. Other things they did which
showed they actually stood up for democracy was supporting the democratic revolutions in the
Korean War, Polish Solidarity Movement, and the Velvet Revolution. They not only did they do this
for freedom, but also to stop the authoritarian spread of Communism which they deemed highly
undemocratic and even propagandized it as evil especially during the Berlin Airlift which is one
of the most famous benevolent event that the USA orchestrated. But those were the only freedom
fighting they took. Everything else they did was highly undemocratic. USA has a tendency to
overthrow foreign government if they don t please their interests. Their first major anti freedom
action was overthrowing the democratically elected government of Iran simply because the new
leader decided to nationalize the oil for benefit of the Iranian People. Then they did the exact same
thing in Guatemala because the interests of their fruit companies were in danger. All of these
overthrows were done through US backed coups and the School of America played a key

Also, airing the episodes on the most appropriate time can be a great help. The most appropriate
time may be when children are all awake, done with their homework and at their full interest in
learning. This appropriate time would give the children s television show the satisfaction that
children are watching intently and attentively with their parents. Likewise, variation on the
episodes will interest the children to watch out for more local myths and tales. Watching different

AME Pastor Interview Report
INTRODUCTION
It was 20 April 2014, I had just finished preaching my first sermon on Easter Sunday as the newly
appointed pastor of New Creation AME Church, and as I looked around at an empty church with
20 people in a facility that could hold 250 people, instantly my heart sunk and my spirit became
vexed as the frustration of the moment slowly began to sink in. Admittedly, I almost burst out into
hysterical laughter when I thought about how I had been hoodwinked into believing that I was
being assigned to a congregation of 109 members. There I was standing as the newly appointed
leader in a deteriorating two story church that was being leased for an absorbent amount with less
than $2000 dollars in the treasury and a separate list of bills ... Show more content on

I thought and prayed over the next several weeks and honestly I complained and vented to few
of my pastoral colleagues about the situation; but the truth of the matter was that they too
needed consoling given the fact that they also were struggling with similar battles. Then it
dawned on me, why was I complaining? I thought to myself, if I was truly called to ministry by
God then anything I place my hand upon can and would be blessed. That is, only if I would
begin to exercise greater faith and trust in God; shedding my disbelief only to dawn a new
outlook on the path of church leadership. After all, God has place unique and specially gifts inside
the hearts and spirits of all of his children. It was from that moment that I began to pray and talked
with God with frequency taking to heart the words written in the Gospel of Matthew 6:21
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be, For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also . I had not consider the heart of God nor the hearts of the people of

Right-To-Bear Arms
Right to Bear Arms
In 2013 states with gun restrictions had more shootings than states without any laws. The right for
U.S. citizens to bear arms is completely beneficial, and without their legality it would cause more
problems than it would solve. Owning a gun gives the owner a feeling of protection, and if your
attacker thinks you may be concealing a weapon they would definitely be less likely to rob you or
do anything in attempt to harm you. Banning guns entirely would have huge implications, which
would not be good for anyone. Without guns our safety would be at risk, and without that feeling of
protection it will be a weight that you constantly carry and will withhold your from true identity and
potential. Your right to bear arms should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Realism And Pursuit Of National Interests
Realism is an approach to international politics that is based on the importance of power politics
and the pursuit of national interests (Heywood, 2000). According to this school of thought, the
international realm is a moral free ambience in which the state is seen as a rational and uniform
player which finds itself in constant conflict with the other states of the system due to the lack of a
comprehensive world government, i.e. an international anarchy (Oldemeinen, 2010). Realismis
directly contrasting to romanticism or idealism, as it offers a cold and calculating picture of how
the world functions, which is often seen as pessimistic. From an international relationsperspective,
realism portrays global politics in a homogeneous... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also wrote that the standard of justice depends on the equality of power to compel and that in
fact the strong do what they have the power to do and the weak accept what they have to accept.
The Melians believed that they would have the gods by their side because their position is
morally just, whereas the Athenians opposed with the view that it is the natural order of life for
the strong to dominate the weak. For Thucydides, international relations allow the rich and
powerful to do as they please and force the weak to suffer as they must (Hellenic Resources
Network). One of the first classical realists in this newly established province was Morgenthau, who
would have the largest impact on the field. In his book Politics Among Nations, 1948, Morgenthau
produced a report of political realism that would dominate the study of international relations for
decades to come. According to Morgenthau, realism is concerned with how the world actually is,
rather than how it ought to be; it is an empirical rather than a normative paradigm. In time, the
intellectual hegemony of Morgenthau s classical realism was succeeded by the emergence of
neorealism by Kenneth Waltz. In his book Theory of International Politics, 1979, Waltz sought to
develop systematic and scientific realism, which divided the theory into classical realism and
neorealism (Pashakhanlou, 2009). Hans Morgenthau and Kenneth Waltz hold their

Purpose:
In this experiment, the molar volume ( the volume occupied by one mole of a gas) of hydrogen gas
at standard temperature and pressure is measured. According to Avogadro s Law, at the same
temperature and pressure, equal volumes of gases contain the same number of molecules. Therefore
the volume of any given gas must be proportional to the number of moles of molecules present
when the temperature and pressure are constant. The reaction used to produce hydrogen is :
Mg(s) + 2HCl(aq) в†’ MgCl2(aq) + H2(g). The reaction is carried out with excess hydrochloric acid,
therefore the volume of hydrogen gas produced would depend on ... Show more content on

As a result, the calculated volume of hydrogen gas at STP and the molar volume would also be
too high as a result of this error because the calculation of the volume of hydrogen gas at STP and
the molar volume depends on the experimental results of the measured volume of hydrogen gas.
Therefore, when the measured volume of hydrogen gas at STP becomes too high, the calculated
volume of hydrogen and the molar volume would also be too high.
8. A student noticed that the magnesium ribbon appeared to be oxidized the metal surface was
black and dull rather than silver and shiny. What effect would this error have on the measured
volume of hydrogen gas? Would the calculated molar volume of hydrogen gas be too high or too
low as a result of this error? Explain.
The black and dull surface caused by oxidation would form MgO. When MgO react with HCl, it
would not produce hydrogen gas. Therefore the reaction of Mg and MgO would produce less
gas than the reaction of only Mg. As a result, the measured volume of hydrogen gas would be too
low and would affect the calculated volume of hydrogen gas and the molar volume of hydrogen
gas. The calculated volume and molar volume of hydrogen gas would be too low as a result of this

Value should not be confused with price, which is the quantity agreed between the seller and the
buyer in the sale of a company. This difference in a specific company s value may be due to a
multitude of reasons. For example, a large and technologically highly advanced foreign company
wishes to buy a well known national company in order to gain entry into the local market, using
the reputation of the local brand. In this case, the foreign buyer will only value the brand but not

Estem For The Croppies Poem Analysis
Introduction
Considered to be one of the greatest living poets, Seamus Heaney is an Irish poet, whose work is
notable for evocation of events in Irish history and its allusions to Irish myth. A Catholic,
Seamus Justin Heaney (b. 13th April 1939, Mossbawn, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland)
was the eldest of nine children, he grew up in a rural landscape, his father was a farmer whose
skill Heaney admired greatly, a point attested to in Digging (DN) [1]. Much of his early poetry
derives from his experience of the farm and country life as a child. He attended primary school in
Anahorish, where he won a scholarship to St Columb s in Londonderry, 1951 57. He later attended

The final line suggests that the defiance of Vinegar Hill is the seed for future insurrection. Here
he shows his support for the Civil Rights Movement of the time. The Story is narrated in the
style of a folk tale, in keeping with the Irish oral tradition of recounting heroic deeds in song. The
opening line suggests that the rebels carry with them the seeds of rebellion. The pockets of our
great coats full of Barley, but it is not until the final line when all the rebels are dead that the seeds
of rebellion come to fruition And in August the barley grew up out of the grave. Here he recognises
the cyclical nature of Irish history and used this to reflect the contemporary political situation. Two
months after Door in the Dark was published, Northern Ireland fell into chaos. History had indeed
repeated itself, as the conflict in the province intensified, it progressively became more and more
bloody. Seamus Heaney is here clearly showing his support for the nationalist cause. He wrote this
poem on the anniversary of the 1916 uprising and he later wrote, I did not realize at the time that
the original heraldic murderous encounter between Protestant yeomen and Catholic rebel was to be

Compressing, Transferring and Storing Audio Data
Today s most popular solution for compressing, transferring and storing audio data is MP3
technology. There are similar technologies for sampling and compressing audio data but MP3
remains the most popular because it is versatile, high performing and flexible. MP3 as we know it
today, is the product of collaborations through the years by many organizations. If we had to narrow
down the most important people involved in it s development, the two most important names would
be Dieter Seitzer and Karlheinz Bradenburg. Initially, in the 1970s, Dieter Seitzer, a professor from
Erlangen Nuremberg University was researching the problem of compressing audio data for
telephone line transmission. He brought together a group of students as well as other scientists to
do research and solve this challenge. One of his students , named Karlheinz Bradenburg, proposed
an idea of exploiting the mechanism of human hearing and its limitations. Later on, in his doctoral
theses, Karlheinz Bradenburg included algorithms that were later incorporated in todays MP3
technology. Most importantly were his method of scanning and removing sounds that were in
audible to humans. In 1988 the ISO convened and called for a standard in audio and video
encoding. This call created the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). Contributions to the group
came from various corporations, research organizations and individual scientists. This increase of
contributions and collaboration from members of the MPEG

Pretty Hurts
In BeyoncГ© s, Pretty Hurts, she describes the expectations of women in the current American
society. BeyoncГ© uses numerous stereotypes of the perfect lifestyle and appearance to explain
what the American individual is expected to be. In this song, the American individual is
described as one who follows all labels and is considered perfect in the eyes of society, and
BeyoncГ© further explains how this idea is incorrect. In one of the opening lines, BeyoncГ©
says, What s in your head it doesn t matter / Brush your hair, fix your teeth / What you wear is all

Given this, it is explained that the expectations listed above are the problems with society.
Society s expectations of perfection and hiding of emotions give unrealistic ideas to women
about the individuals they should be. Instead of trying to fit the expectations of society,
everyone should reveal their flaws and be proud of themselves. When everyone tries to be
perfect, they are only disappointed because of how unrealistic and impossible it is to achieve
their goal of perfection. These expectations and disappointments are the problems with society,
because perfection is an unachievable objective. These lines explain that the American individual
should not be one to follow societal expectations, even though it is falsely believed that
perfection makes the ideal individual. An additional line that describes the American individual
is, South beach, sugar free / Vogue says / Thinner is better (BeyoncГ© 19 21). Considering this,
BeyoncГ© is explaining that society believes everyone should be thin which can be achieved by
being sugar free. Only those who are sugar free will be skinny and therefore will be satisfying
society. Society expects all women to be thin and slender, and not following these expectations not
acceptable. These lines, once again, explain that the American individual is expected to be thin, or

Fund Raising Ratio plus any four of the performance measure ratios, we chose the Going Concern
Ratio, Liquidity Ratio, Efficiency Ratio, and Fund Raising Efficiency Ratio.
1.Program Effectiveness Ratio
Total Program Expenses Г· Total Expenses
722,304,197 Г·997,401,179= 72.42%
2.Fund Raising Ratio
(Total Contributions Fund raising costs) Г· Total contributions
(797,005,822 166,560,526) Г· 797,005,822= 79.10%
3.Going Concern Ratio
a. RevenuesГ· Expenses
602,964,477Г· 997,401,179= 60.45%
b. Unrestricted net assets Г· Operation Expenses 2,578,631,115 Г· 275,096,982= 9.37 months
4.Liquidity Ratio
Current Asset (cash, A/R, Inventory) Г· Current Liabilities
169378355 Г· 141299219=1.20
5.Efficiency
Program Expenses Г· Number of clients served
722,304,197 Г· 7,800 patients= $92603.10
6.Fund Raising Efficiency
Fund Raising Expenses Г· Public Support
166,560,526 Г·983,613,887= 16.93%
The following are our discussions about each of the 6 ratios that we already calculated.
1.Program Effectiveness Ratio: for this particular ratio, we think that the ratio of 72.42% for the
Program Effectiveness Ratio is not really ineffectiveness for the St. Jude Children s Research
Hospital. However, when we first choose this nonprofit organization, we thought that the
organization s Program

Hakuna Matta Compare And Contrast
The songs, Hakuna Matata by Elton John and Tim Rice, and Don t Worry, Be Happy by Bobby
McFerrin, are easily comparable to each other, for the two share clear differences and
similarities in their theme and titles. Out of both songs, I would prefer Don t Worry, Be Happy
over Hakuna Matata due to its more realistic lyrics. First, the two songs deliver indistinguishable
messages about the importance of carefree lives. McFerrin s lyrics state, ...in your life expect
some trouble, when you worry you make it double, but don t worry...be happy now. The artist is
pointing out that conflict shouldn t surprise anyone; however, panicking over them only seems
to worsen one s problems. Likewise, John and Rice s song says, Hakuna Matata...it means no
worries for the rest of your days. These lyrics introduce a philosophy for an untroubled lifestyle.
Both songs imply that, in the end, there is no need to fret; this idea can also be found in the title
of the songs. Secondly, the song titles, Hakuna Matata and Don t Worry, Be Happy, are nearly
identical. The phrase, Hakuna Matata, translates from Swahili to no worries. Evidently, it is almost
equal to Don t Worry, which is part of the title of Bobby McFerrin s song. This confirms another
similarity between both songs. Despite being uniform... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Don t Worry, Be Happy discusses realistic situations that apply to people today. McFerrin s song
states, Ain t got no place to lay your head...the landlord say your rent is late, he may have to
litigate. This talks about common struggles of adult life and the inability to keep a home.
However, since Hakuna Matata is meant to be apart of a musical about animals, the song says, We
live wherever we want...home is where your rump rests! Unlike men and women, wild animals
roam and sleep freely in their habitat. Because of their lyrics, there is a clear distinction between
these two

The Iraq Invasion Of Iraq
The Iraq Invasion is definitely a subject of immense controversy regarding whether or not it was the
appropriate action by the United States. Should the United States have interfered in Iraqi affairs?
What was the real intention of accusing Iraq for having weapons of mass destruction and holding
them accountable for the 9/11 terrorist attacks even though they were innocent of both allegations?
Did the U.S. media cover all the truth in Iraq? Was the main purpose of the invasion the greed of
oil ? Are Iraqis living in peace after overthrowing the dictator Saddam Hussain? All of the
reasoning provided by people who supported the Iraq Invasion proved to be incorrect and ignorant,
this is a serious turning point in both the United Statesand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This regime has already used weapons of mass destruction against Iraq s neighbors and against
Iraq s people . However, According to the CIA s final report in 2013, The CIA s top weapons
inspector in Iraq said Monday that the hunt for weapons of mass destruction has gone as far as
feasible and has found nothing, closing an investigation into the purported programs of Saddam
Hussein that were used to justify the 2003 invasion (NBC). Bush s ignorance and false
perspective led to a war with no credible evidence as to why it even occurred. The American
citizens were lied to and voted for the Iraq war even though they were oblivious of the truth.
Although Saddam hussein was undoubtedly a harsh dictator and a cruel leader, Iraqis were safe
and terrorist attacks were very rare. Terrorism was never an issue before the United States
invaded Iraq. According to a study in Harvard University (center for Human Rights), With the U.S
invasion in March 2003, terrorism within Iraq s borders rose precipitously. There were 78 terrorist
attacks in the first twelve months following the U.S. invasion; in the second twelve months this
number nearly quadrupled, to 302 attacks. At the height of the war, in 2007, terrorists claimed
5,425 civilian lives and caused 9,878 injuries...Iraq, as President Bush claimed, became a central
front in the war on terrorism. But it was a front that the United States created. It is a very

Chapters Of Genesis
The first two chapters of Genesis explain the chronicle events of the creation story. While there
are yet, two accounts of the creation events within Genesis one and two, there is no
contradiction. It proclaims a detail account of how God, the Source of creation, created
everything. Genesis gives us our first glimpse into the characteristics and attributes of God,
humankind and creation itself. When studying the first two chapters of Genesis we find several
characteristics of God. The two characteristic I want to explore is: God as Creator God of order.
The events of creation story how God and God alone created of everything. Everything that God
created was good . Another attribute of God is that He is a God of order. God systematically and
sequentially created everything in it proper time and place. He created the heavens and earth
before creating before making light. He also created the waters before He created the fish of the
seas. He created everything that humankind would need before making humankind in His Image.
God is a God of creation and order. Genesis also taught us about humankind. Humankind was
created to be a relational being and to be a steward. God created humankind to be in relation with
God and with each other. God... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a way of God remaining a just God, he allowed an alternative to the Genesis account of
creations. There are several contrasts between the two creation accounts. Some the fundamental
differences are: order versus chaos, God who controlled emotions versus the emotions that control
God s, a covenant relation versus cunning and planning relation, man s dominion versus man s
inhabitants. These differences are significant because of the direct contrast between the natures of
both sets of God s. The Babylonian of the creation story is in line with the beliefs of Idol god verse

Cisco s Loyal Customer Base
Loyal Customer Base Cisco has a powerful presence among sizeable corporations, which creates
a vast loyal customer base. Cisco has a strong impact over enterprise purchasing decisions, for
which several of its IT leaders acquire Cisco products virtually by default. Cisco s customers
perceive the safety of purchasing from a resilient global leader, which gives these corporations
the opportunity to acquire WLAN equipment bundled with switches, and other equipment at great
prices. The significance of Cisco s loyal customer base is magnified by the fact that, through
2017, more than 60% of global revenue from sales of wired and WLAN access infrastructure will
continue to come from North America, Western Europe and Japan. (Gartner) WEAKNESSES
Dependency on Suppliers and Manufacturers Cisco has an outsourced manufacturing strategy
which creates a considerable dependency on its suppliers and manufacturers for several
components. As a result, Cisco does not have a lot of influence on the operations of these
manufacturers and there have been some supply chain issues. Some of these issues include
delayed order fulfillments, a scarcity of components, and longer lead times on many of its
products. Moreover, as a result of previous contracts, the organization is forced to pay higher prices
for certain components, reducing the organization s profit margin. Global Dependencies Cisco is
extremely dependent on Canada and the US, earning roughly 53% of its total revenue from these

Essay on The Silences in Mansfield Park
The silences in Mansfield Park reveal the nature of each character. Fanny s silences reveal her
inner self, the core of morals. They reveal that while Fanny looks like a timid, frail being but
inside she possess a set of principle that are unyielding to any outside force. Through her silence,
Fanny becomes the selfless conscience of Mansfield Park. Fanny is strong willed in her steady
continual silence. She is sole unmoving thing in a fluid, ever moving time.
Fanny grew up in a large, ever growing household, where quiet was so hard to come by. In the
Price household, Fanny was the opposite of her family. She was timid and shy; they were
rambunctious. Fanny as already started to form her own demur. When Fanny arrives at Mansfield
Park, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without their conscience, they do things against the principles of the age. After a period of
solitude, the other walking trio finds her. This trio is talking about what changes need to occur
at Sotherton; they talk about movement. Fanny stays quiet in the conversation until after Mr.
Rushworth has gone to fetch a key to unlock the gate, leaving Henry and Maria as a pair. Henry
starts to tempt Maria into doing something against what her principle should allow her to do.
Fanny, feeling all this to be wrong, could not help making an effort to prevent it. (93) Fanny
begins to act as Maria s conscience, but Maria won t allow Fanny to be her conscience. She jumps
and follows Henry away from her principles like her brother followed Henry s sister.
Fanny continually remains in the background for the duration of the play. Fanny listens to each
person s opinion on what play they should perform, a comedy or a tragedy. Fanny does not add
anything to the group because she knows it to be inappropriate that a play should be performed
without Sir Thomas s consent. Edmund speaks as a part of the conscience of Mansfield Park,
saying what Fanny thinks. Even after a play is decided upon, Fanny remains silent in background
like a conscience weighing on a person s mind. After the theater troupe starts to practice the play,
Fanny helps with the sewing for the play, helping but not participating in the inappropriate act. She
helps because

Document Analysis Of The Articles Of Capitulation

Prof. Beurtheret
History 1700
Document Analysis
Articles of Capitulation The Articles Of Capitulation was written on July 3rd, 1754 at 8pm, in an
area in present day Western Pennsylvania. This area was known at the time as the Ohio Valley and
was an area that was in dispute by the French and English. French Canadian military Captain, Louis
Coulon de Villers, composed the Articles Of Capitulation. This document was written in the
aftermath of a short one day battle, in which Coulon had surrounded Washington s Fort Necessity,
and subsequently asked for the surrender of the Virginian troops led by George Washington.
Although Washington agreed to the terms of this peaceful surrender, the document was written in

Jacob Van Braam and Robert Stobo, both Captains shall be delivered to us as hostages until the
arrival our French and Canadians, the two officers who promise us our French in two months
and a half at the latest. While Robert Stobo, a captain in the Virginia militia was a captive in Fort
Duquesne, he drew a scale map of the Fort and wrote a letter on the back a letter saying, When
we engaged to serve the country, then he said, it was expected we were to do it with our lives.
Let them not be disappointed. Consider the good of the expedition without the least regard to us.
For my part, I would die ten thousand deaths to have the pleasure of possessing this fort but one
day, they are so vain of their success at [Fort Necessity], tis worse than death to hear them.
(Stobo) The letter eventually made it to the English forces. He was later convicted of spying after
this paper fell into French hands and later the French cited it as evidence of British aggression
towards them in the Ohio Valley. He sentenced to a death in Quebec, but then escaped and re joined
the English forces. (Alberts)

Math 213 Reflective Paper
Reflective Paper Math 213 Math 213 is a class packed full of information valuable to the
development of a professional math teacher. There were several major mathematical concepts
addressed in the class ranging from problem solving, numeration systems and sets, whole numbers
and their operations, to algebraic thinking, integers and numbertheory, rational numbers as
fractions, decimals and real numbers, and proportional reasoning, percents, and applications. This
class enhanced my understanding of math in general, as well as enabled me to explore strategies on
how to best present mathematical concepts in an elementary classroom setting.

It is up to teachers to give students the skills to set up and solve algorithms that will help to build
their math confidence and motivate them to expand on what they have learned.
Teaching the concept of integers and number theory is a fundamental part of math curriculum. The
ability of a professional mathematics teacher to tie in real world experiences, using hand on
activities and manipulatives is essential in enabling students to build on mathematic ideas and
understand how they interconnect. Also important is the concept of rational numbers as fractions,
decimals, and real numbers. Teachers need to help ease the transition from whole numbers by
clearly explaining the new rules and definitions students are unfamiliar with.
By teaching the importance of ratios, proportions, proportional reasoning, percents, and their real
life applications, teachers are giving students the skills they need to become productive members of
society. Proportional reasoning is one of the big ideas in math and if students are able to grasp this
concept, they will be able to apply it in many instances in their lives. Teachers can assist students
with this by providing interesting, well thought out problems that represent situations students will
encounter in the future.
This course influenced my philosophy on teaching math by helping me realize how important

Argumentative Essay On Mars
Today s scientists would agree that no planet has been more steeped in myths and misconception
than Mars. Just about a hundred years ago, several scientists sincerely believed that extraterrestrial
life was present on planet Mars, so the US government listened for radio signals from Mars until
1924. In movies such as Flight to Mars(1951), Mars was portrayed as a scary, mysterious place
inhabited by hostile aliens which we know today is false. However, in 1965, NASAand JPL sent the
first spacecraft, Mariner 4, to fly by Mars. Today, there are seven active missions that are being
used to collect more data, including two rovers, Opportunity and Curiosity, which explore the
surface. Mars has been garnering a lot of attention from the media... Show more content on

liquid iron core shields the planet from 99.9% of harmful radiation. However, in space, radiation
is a serious hazard. The radiation dosage from the shortest round trip to Mars is about 0.66
sieverts, which is equivalent to receiving a CT scan every five or six days. The dose of radiation
one will absorb from staying at Mars for a year would range from 0.2 sieverts to 0.3 sieverts
depending on the location. To put things in perspective, absorbing a total of 8 sieverts will most
likely result in death. Also, with a significantly small amount of Oxygen (0.13%), humans would
have to wear a space suit while outside and live in pressurized habitats. Furthermore, Mars gravity
is 31% compared to that of Earth s gravity, which means that readjustments would have to be
made in order to properly walk and run. Although this is a minor difference, it is more ideal
compared to Earth s moon whose gravity is 17% of

Abigail Adams Summary
Abigail Adams Book worm, nerd, library enthusiast, educationally driven, and one of the most
renown female letter writers of our history. Believe it or not, these are but a few of the things
Abigail Adams was known for. We have too many high sounding words, and too few actions that
correspond with them. Oh, and how Abigail superlatively lived up to this statement. As we truffle
through this journey of a real example of a revolutionary woman, we will be covering the expected
roles of a woman during the Colonial and Revolutionary era, how Abigail lived up to these
expected roles, how she defied them, and finally, we will delve even deeper into how the creation
of a new republic affected Abigail s beliefs on the roles of women.
On page four, of chapter one, it states that. In a society where marriage and motherhood were the
chief functions of every female. (Pg. 4.) Firstly, this statement gives us great insight on the one of
the many expected roles of any and every female during the Colonial and Revolutionary era.
Succeeding, Abigail further lived up to this specific role in marrying John Adams, who was the
second President of the United States. In doing so, they had five wonderful children, in which
Abigail stepped forward and humbly took care of while her husband was away. Abigail, had no
preceding issues with this role of a woman, if anything she encompassed its geniality. Secondly,

  • 3. A Study On The Oriental Market Essay It is quite surprising that I found an oriental market in Lincoln. In my imagination, big city like New York, California is more diverse than a small city like Lincoln. As a business student, it also triggers my curiosity on how the business survives in a place, where not many Asians were living. To satisfy my curiosity in the business, I decided to take a trip to explore the oriental market. The oriental market is located at 612 N 27th St, Lincoln. Outside the store, there is a spacious space that let the customers to park their vehicles. There is lift truck, and a stack of old pallets. As I entered the store, the cashiers greeted me. The first sight that I saw as I entered the store was the beverages were surrounded along the cashier counter. It was a shield to protect the cashier counter. The environment, decorations, and smell of the store gave me a sense of familiarity, which is like the store in my hometown. At the left side of the shop, there was a row of refrigerator along the wall. In each refrigerator, it included various brands of beverages, ice creams, meats, vegetables, mushrooms and frozen foods. First column contained garlic, onions, potatoes, and other vegetables. Second column contained mostly all the cookingpastes, and some mixed herbs. Third column contained spices, like dried chili. Fourth column contained various types of sauces. Fifth column contained soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and more. The last column was mostly instant noodles, where ... Themes and Fate in The Awakening and Madame Bovary Kate Chopin s The Awakening and Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary are both tales of women indignant with their domestic situations; the distinct differences between the two books can be found in the authors unique tones. Both authors weave similar themes into their writings such as, the escape from the monotony of domestic life, dissatisfaction with marital expectations and suicide. References to fate abound throughout both works. In The Awakening, Chopin uses fate to represent the expectations of Edna Pontellier s aristocratic society. It talks about the act of censorship and how it can be seen when a person s private information is concealed, graphic details and images are kept hidden, hiding political bias viewpoints, etc. This is a start to a dystopian society, as news programs have the control and power to change real information with false facts, leading the public to believe lies. This can be seen in a more extreme manner in the novel Fahrenheit 451by Ray Bradburyon page 32, when Montag is given a rule book containing a brief history of the Firemen in America. How would all that make you feel? Henrietta Lacks was an African American woman. During her time, women didn t have equal rights like men did, and African Americans didn t have equal rights like white people did. Since Henrietta was an African American woman she had it rough, there were times that everyday tasks were a struggle. In 1951 she was diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer. She was treated at John Hopkins University, where doctors didn t do all they could even if they said that was the case, and were Doctor George Gey took her cells from her cervix without consent. I watched the Law and Order episode titled Immortal , I found it to be extremely similar to a book I read titled The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacksby Rebecca Sklooteven though the show said in the beginning that this was not based on a true story. There were many similarities that I spotted between Immortal and Henrietta Lacks. Some of the similarities were within the storyline, others were in characters. Henrietta had six siblings and five kids. There are three of her kids that I want to talk about specifically, Deborah, Zakariyya, and Elsie. Deborah s learning of everything is the main point in the book but also having the readers learn what happened to Henrietta and her family is extremely important. • 9. The Outsiders By Francis Coppola The Outsiders a film directed by Francis Coppola s is about two social groups of teenagers who attends the same high school and live in the same town. Although both two social groups live in the same area, they live a completely different life. A group known as the South Side Socials (aka socs ), are the upper class teenagers, while the Greasers, are the less fortunate kids, who just so happen to live on the wrong side of town. These two social groups have had a conflict against one another for several years, but on one specific evening, this rivalry turns deadly as one of the greasers, Johnny, stabs and murders a socs. Due to the passing of one of the Socs, the Socs tried to avenge the death of their friend, while the greasers tried to get the town to comprehend that the Socs were also at fault during that conflict. The Outsider is an exceptional film depicting how social groups can explain our behavior, and how deviance and crime are observed in relation to our social group. A social group is defined as a group of two or more people who interact frequently with one another, shares a portion sense of belonging and have a sensation of interdependence. As seen in the film, both the Socs and the greasers care deeply for each associate of the corresponding group. Towards the end of the film, as Johnny is being hospitalized for severe burns, Pony Boy expresses himself by stating the fact that things would be different if he pass away. Throughout of his life, Augustine has endured a lot of hard ships and lessons that he wanted to share with others. He decided in 397 AD to compose an autobiographical book confessing and recounting moments in his life. Confessions by Saint Augustine are a 13 book series comprised of Augustine s life and how he became to be one of the most important priests during his time. During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how can we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation contains God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine found God in a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in everything he has done. An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were waiting for him, but God gave him the milk in his mother s breast to nourish him. This is in accordance to the plan of creation. He later recalls his and other babies experience with crying and pouting for the milk. Augustine believes that babies are not innocent because the get jealous and sin. • 12. Skinner s Behavioral Approach On Analyzing Myself Behaviorism and Attachment For this paper I am going to focus on B. F. Skinner s Behavioral Approach on analyzing myself. Behaviorism emerged in the early years of the twentieth century as a counterbalance to the psychoanalytic approaches of therapy and psychology. Skinner was born in 1904, just nine years after Freud published Studies on Hysteria. Both of these opposing theories, psychoanalysis and behaviorism, have greatly influenced the way we think of the human mind. I lean more towards the behaviorists approach because what I have read about Skinner has resonated with me. I will use behaviorism to approach my own inner introspection and hopefully come away from this more enlightened about myself. The classic nature verse nurture debate has been rocking the boat in psychology since Socrates time. Skinner and behaviorists tend to lean much more towards the nurture side of this debate, believing that an individual s behavior is a direct consequence of what that individual has experienced in the past, especially within the context of reinforcement and punishment. Because of this emphasis on nurture, genes and genetics do not play as much of a role as the experiences one receives after being born. The genes that one is born with gives the individual the genetic constitution that is capable of responding to external stimuli. If one has inherited genes that code for a more aggressive response to external stimuli, then that person may have a greater ability to be aggressive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Images and Imagery in Macbeth Essay Imagery in Macbeth The Bard of Avon considers imagery one of many elements in his tragedy Macbeth which give underpinning to the theme of the drama. The imagery might be said to be not a goal in itself but a means to an end. In Fools of Time: Studies in Shakespearean Tragedy, Northrop Frye shows how the playwright uses imagery to reinforce the theme: This theme is at its clearest where we are most in sympathy with the nemesis. Thus at the end of Macbeth, after the proclamation the time is free, and of promises to make reparations of Macbeth s tyranny Which would be planted newly with the time, there will be a renewal not only of time but of the whole rhythm of nature symbolized by the word measure, which includes both the ... Specifically, the understanding of the relationships that an audience connects with certain signs and symbols. This is where persuasion comes into play. Signs and symbols are used to persuade people everyday, meaning advertisements, large companies, and other institutions, use signs and symbols to persuade their audience. Many people associate specific signs and symbols with different ideas. The traditional method holds the explanation and evaluation close to the core when critiquing, whereas the narrative method is deemed as looser when using explanation and evaluation. When applying the narrative method, the evaluation of the source plays on two elements, the narrative possibility and fidelity. The former touches on the story being realistic and the components of the story making sense, or in other words adding up. The latter allows the critic to analyze and figure out if the story is true due to other stories and personal experiences. These elements also allow the critic to discover the credibility of the source or author of the message. Through this evaluation is when the narrative method displays if the narrative given achieves the function of persuasion. On the other hand, when applying the traditional perspective, the evaluation centers on analyzing the message for how well it was put together considering the audience and context, and the understanding of the source, for credibility. All of these components are considered the explanation of the rhetorical features of the text, and lead to whether or not the persuasive goal was reached. The ideas of source credibility, and the end goal of persuading the audience are huge similarities between the two methods. Differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Ontological Argument Ontological Argument One of the most fascinating arguments for the existence of an all perfect God is the ontological argument. Ontological arguments are arguments to prove the existence of God based on pure reason alone. They attempt to show that we can deduce God s existence from, so to speak, the very definition of God. St. Anselm of Canterbury proposed the first and most well known ontological argument in 1078 in his Proslogion, but it was actually Immanuel Kant, an 18th century German philosopher, who first called the argument ontological. In his argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be conceived. This can be interpreted as defining God as maximal perfection, or the greatest possible being. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thought the ontological argument was flawed. Any argument for the existenceof God based on the proposition that a God that exists in reality is greater than a God that exists in the imagination is based on a confusion. According to Kant, the confusion lies in the fact that existence is not a predicate. A predicate is a property that a thing can either possess or lack. When people say that God exists, they are not saying that there is a God and He possesses the property of existence. If they did, they would be saying that there is a God, but he lacks the property of existence, confirming and denying God s existence at the same time. Kant suggests that to say that something exists is to say that the concept of that thing is demonstrated in the world. Existence is then not a matter of a thing possessing a property (existence) but of a concept corresponding to something in the world. For example, if we are given a complete description of an object and then it is added to the description that the object exists, in saying that it exists adds nothing to the idea of the object. The object is the same whether it exists or not. If Kant is correct in his view that existence is not a property of objects, then it is impossible to compare a God that exists to a God that does not. In Kant s eyes, a God that exists and a God that does not are identical. A God that exists is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, etc. A God that does not exist is ... Its GDP and population has increasing continuously from 2008 2011(chart1.1 and 1.2 below) Chart 1.1 Chart 1.2 Data sources: OECD.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thirdly, political and policies in many countries take joint venture as a prior entrance mode. Eventually, since vehicle industry has become a main industry in Turkey, there must be good performance from the whole industry chain that CG would have a lot of competitors and hard to enter the market If it choose greenfield or acquisition. 3.2 On the other hand, less risk means CG would lose profits when choosing joint venture mode. In addition, management for mixing two companies can lead to conflicts and battles if there objectives are changed or difference. Base on the advantages and disadvantages above, joint venture is the best choice after balancing the risk and the profit earning. 4. Some culture guidelines for operating in Turkey 4.1 There have culture differences between Turkey and German. Culture shared norms based on value, attitudes and beliefs. (Daniels. J. D, Radebaugh. L. H, amp; Sullivan. D.P, 2011 ) There are 99.8% of Turkish are Muslim so that Turkish usually don t work on Ramadan (usually in June and July) and they never eat pork. • 37. Estem For The Croppies Poem Analysis Introduction Considered to be one of the greatest living poets, Seamus Heaney is an Irish poet, whose work is notable for evocation of events in Irish history and its allusions to Irish myth. A Catholic, Seamus Justin Heaney (b. 13th April 1939, Mossbawn, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland) was the eldest of nine children, he grew up in a rural landscape, his father was a farmer whose skill Heaney admired greatly, a point attested to in Digging (DN) [1]. Much of his early poetry derives from his experience of the farm and country life as a child. He attended primary school in Anahorish, where he won a scholarship to St Columb s in Londonderry, 1951 57. He later attended Queen s University Belfast and gained a first class honours degree ... Here he shows his support for the Civil Rights Movement of the time. The Story is narrated in the style of a folk tale, in keeping with the Irish oral tradition of recounting heroic deeds in song. The opening line suggests that the rebels carry with them the seeds of rebellion. The pockets of our great coats full of Barley, but it is not until the final line when all the rebels are dead that the seeds of rebellion come to fruition And in August the barley grew up out of the grave. Here he recognises the cyclical nature of Irish history and used this to reflect the contemporary political situation. Two months after Door in the Dark was published, Northern Ireland fell into chaos. History had indeed repeated itself, as the conflict in the province intensified, it progressively became more and more bloody. Seamus Heaney is here clearly showing his support for the nationalist cause. He wrote this poem on the anniversary of the 1916 uprising and he later wrote, I did not realize at the time that the original heraldic murderous encounter between Protestant yeomen and Catholic rebel was to be initiated again in the summer of 1969, in ... There are similar technologies for sampling and compressing audio data but MP3 remains the most popular because it is versatile, high performing and flexible. MP3 as we know it today, is the product of collaborations through the years by many organizations. If we had to narrow down the most important people involved in it s development, the two most important names would be Dieter Seitzer and Karlheinz Bradenburg. Initially, in the 1970s, Dieter Seitzer, a professor from Erlangen Nuremberg University was researching the problem of compressing audio data for telephone line transmission. He brought together a group of students as well as other scientists to do research and solve this challenge. One of his students , named Karlheinz Bradenburg, proposed an idea of exploiting the mechanism of human hearing and its limitations. Later on, in his doctoral theses, Karlheinz Bradenburg included algorithms that were later incorporated in todays MP3 technology. Most importantly were his method of scanning and removing sounds that were in audible to humans. In 1988 the ISO convened and called for a standard in audio and video encoding. This call created the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). Contributions to the group came from various corporations, research organizations and individual scientists. The Effects Of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Although the percentage of families owning a desktop or laptops has remained relatively constant over the past two decades, the use of computers in the workplace is predicted to rise. BeyoncГ© uses numerous stereotypes of the perfect lifestyle and appearance to explain what the American individual is expected to be. In this song, the American individual is described as one who follows all labels and is considered perfect in the eyes of society, and BeyoncГ© further explains how this idea is incorrect. In one of the opening lines, BeyoncГ© says, What s in your head it doesn t matter / Brush your hair, fix your teeth / What you wear is all that matters (BeyoncГ© Lines 2 4). Given this, it is explained that the expectations listed above are the problems with society. Society s expectations of perfection and hiding of emotions give unrealistic ideas to women about the individuals they should be. Instead of trying to fit the expectations of society, everyone should reveal their flaws and be proud of themselves. When everyone tries to be perfect, they are only disappointed because of how unrealistic and impossible it is to achieve their goal of perfection. These expectations and disappointments are the problems with society, because perfection is an unachievable objective. These lines explain that the American individual should not be one to follow societal expectations, even though it is falsely believed that perfection makes the ideal individual. An additional line that describes the American individual is, South beach, sugar free / Vogue says / Thinner is better (BeyoncГ© 19 21). Considering this, BeyoncГ© is explaining that society believes everyone should be thin which can be achieved by being sugar free. Only those who are sugar free will be skinny and therefore will be satisfying society. Society expects all women to be thin and slender, and not following these expectations not acceptable. Hakuna Matta Compare And Contrast The songs, Hakuna Matata by Elton John and Tim Rice, and Don t Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin, are easily comparable to each other, for the two share clear differences and similarities in their theme and titles. Out of both songs, I would prefer Don t Worry, Be Happy over Hakuna Matata due to its more realistic lyrics. First, the two songs deliver indistinguishable messages about the importance of carefree lives. McFerrin s lyrics state, ...in your life expect some trouble, when you worry you make it double, but don t worry...be happy now. The artist is pointing out that conflict shouldn t surprise anyone; however, panicking over them only seems to worsen one s problems. Likewise, John and Rice s song says, Hakuna Matata...it means no worries for the rest of your days. These lyrics introduce a philosophy for an untroubled lifestyle. Both songs imply that, in the end, there is no need to fret; this idea can also be found in the title of the songs. Secondly, the song titles, Hakuna Matata and Don t Worry, Be Happy, are nearly identical. The phrase, Hakuna Matata, translates from Swahili to no worries. Evidently, it is almost equal to Don t Worry, which is part of the title of Bobby McFerrin s song. This confirms another similarity between both songs. Despite being uniform...
