Forgiveness In C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity
I actually read two chapters that we had not yet read from the book Mere Christianity and chose
the one that has had the most significant impact on my life in recent years. I have come to
understand forgiveness in such a different manner since becoming a Christian and yet reading C. S.
Lewis s take on forgiveness and Christianityaugmented my understanding even further. I am
excited to review this chapter and share with you my story of forgiveness, as well as, reveal how
this chapter has impacted and altered my understanding of forgiveness and my faith. C. S.
Lewis spends the beginning of his chapters identifying the conflicts regarding the topic that he is
about to embark on. I think this is a great approach to his writing; identify the problem, find
common ground in order to open the mind of the reader to hear the topic of the chapter. Here
Lewis identifies that the problem with forgiveness is that people think it hateful and
contemptible. That sort of talk makes them sick, they say (Mere Christianity, 1952, p.115). He
also expresses that he is not trying to tell you that he is particularly great at forgiveness, but that
he is merely explaining that this is what Christianity is. Lewis explains that forgiveness is
described in the Bible very matter of fact he says it is made perfectly clear that if we do not forgive
we shall not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
S. Lewis s Mere Christianity is that this same compassion and understanding that I now have for
my mom I can practice with anyone outside my home. I am not sure why it had not dawned on
me until reading this chapter that this same idea can be extended outside my home or my
network of friends, but also to my neighbors and my community. Especially to those whom cause
me to be judgmental which is something Christians are not supposed to be. In those moments I
will work to remind myself of C. S. Lewis s guidance on how to love others as we love

The Negative Impact Of The Industrial Revolution
Since the birth of human civilization, mankind has always been playing a competitive game with
mother nature. The relentless pursuit of his progress, security, and comfort has resulted in an
increase of stress on mother nature. It all began in the year of 1760. What we call the industrial
revolution was a major turning point in Earth s ecology and humans relationship with their
environment. The revolution drastically changed every aspect of human life and lifestyles. Human
development, health, and life longevity to social improvements and the impact on natural
resources, the effects were becoming more evident every year. The industrial revolution wasn t
something that was made up overnight, some would say it was started the moment machinery was
replacing manual labor. Fossil fuels were to replace the role of wind, water, and food for a more
inexpensive, efficient strategy for performing the same tasks. What some didn t know or even
ignore about this substitution was that it could be extremely detrimental to both mother nature and
human health. The full impact would not begin to be realized until about one hundred years later.
Consequently, the life sustaining environment has been forced to transform more rapidly than it
ever has before. The tendency humans have to exert a negative influence on ecology has resulted in
a rapid increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, large deforestation, loss of biodiversity,
severe land degradation, and environmental pollution.

Analysis Of Dreams From My Father By Barack Obama
Dreams from my father written by; former president Barack Obama. This text shows another
side to Obama that many of us has never seen of him before. In class my group and I covered
chapters 12 13; our group discussed some of the ideas of Obamas character. As we discussed his
experiences early in his career in the community of Chicago had helped him in the future, for his
presidency. The text we read showed a lot about Obama as a person it helped me understand
Obama even more. Obama is a caring man that only wants to help, for him to help the
community he has to understand the problems they are facing. Obama takes time to talk to
citizens in poverty stricken areas of Chicago. I think that shows that Obama genially wants to
help others and is taking his own time to properly gather a better understanding of the citizen s
problems. Also we discussed if America has grown as a country, and if the ideals from our
parents have been bestowed to us their children. Has time truly changed is our current generation
much different from past generations? Since Obama was young he has lived a life of struggles
and hardships, from his mother and father not staying together. The constant moving around even
to different parts of the world. Obama has chosen to be the example that America has seen. He
has taken the hard times he has been dealt and focused on to try to help other people s struggles.
Obama had chosen to work in the community to fix the problems in Chicago. This speaks a lot of

Gender Bias And Its Effect On Education
Leedy, LaLonde, and Runk (2003) found that their data supported and built on the findings of other
researchers concerning gender stereotypes. They found that girls who were motivated and had
mathematical talent were still subject to the effects of gender bias and that they had decreased
confidence in their mathematical abilities. The research also indicated a continuing belief that math
is a maledomain. Females did not acknowledge the stereotype and felt the survey was biased and
insulting and left comments saying so. No such comments were left by males. The belief by men
that math is a male domain, coupled with the failure of women to acknowledge the biases existence
sets up an unrealistic relationship. The researchers postulated that rather than denying biases exist,
we must acknowledge them so that we can move on and reform education. They felt that the
reforms need to occur outside, as well as inside, the classroom, and must include parents, especially
mothers. The attitudes of all parties involved must be changed for reform to be effective.
Riegle Crumb and Moore (2013) found that females were underrepresented in the engineering
course they studied. Although female students made up 50% of the enrollment at the high schools,
they only comprised an average of 14% of course enrollees. Women in the classes shared similar
academic backgrounds with their male classmates, but the women were more likely to have a
parent who worked in engineering or a scientific field.

Mr. Palomar By Italo Calvino
Mr. Palomar exhibits a unique interesting character throughout the entire book Mr. Palomar by
Italo Calvino. The odd slipper (Page 99 101), specifically addresses a lot of Mr. Palomar s
perspectives on simple topics, it clearly shows that Mr. Palomar is a deep thinker and it conveys
his habit of over complicating matters that are supposed to be simple, it is effective in highlighting
the image that Mr. Palomaris a character who tends to isolate himself from the world by
questioning it and examining every aspect of our being and stance in society.
The odd slipper (Page 99) is about Mr. Palomar receiving a mismatched shoe while shopping in
Bazaar. This passage displays the sudden division of Mr. Palomar s seemingly strong perspective
into two different, opposing viewpoints. One is that at first, Mr. Palomar believed that by
purchasing a mismatched shoe, he had started a chain of events that would cause consequences in
the future:
centuries can go by before the consequences of this mistake affect another visitor to that ancient
bazaar. Every process of disintegration in the order of the world is irreversible; the effects,
however, are hidden and delayed by the dust cloud of the big numbers, which contains virtually
limitless possibilities of new symmetries, combinations, pairings. (Page 100)
By saying this, Mr. Palomar means that any changes in the world that bring about disorder are
irreversible, but their consequences may actually be hidden until the very end.

Character Analysis Victor Frankenstein
Character Analysis
Victor Frankenstein is by far the most profound character that leads the plot of the story. Victor
grows up in Geneva reading works of remarkable and intelligent alchemists to understand more
about the secrets of life. This gradually affects him during his attendance in university at
Ingolstadt, where he learns and masters all the teaches his professors have to give him. Victor
becomes intrigued with the secrets of heaven and earth, (Shelley 33). While he is the protagonist of
the story, he narrates the events from his own point of view. From his happiness and joy of creating
a living being to his regret and demise to kill the monster. While studying in Ingolstadt,
Frankenstein discovers the truth and hideous of life. He creates a grotesque monster that ... Show

Frankenstein came through many hardships to destroy the monster, including the death of
himself, his loved ones, and innocent people who did not deserve to die. All the burden and
deaths of the people fell onto Frankenstein s shoulders. Victor s goal was to defy the natural
process of human life and in the end he met his demise. Victor Frankenstein grew up as a
remarkably intelligent man with wealthy parents and a healthy lifestyle. Frankenstein
undoubtedly believes that he must fix his mistake and goes on a journey to find and kill the
monster; however, every clue and every close encounter ends with someone not involved dying.
Victor tries his hardest to keep the existence of the monster as a secret but fails when too many
of injustices happen. As time goes on his feeling of guilt and remorse expands and cannot prevent
the disaster that will happen. I was tempted to plunge into the silent lake, that the waters might
close over me and my calamities forever (Shelley 81). Frankenstein is resorting to suicide to rid
all his problems and fear that he must deal with. He believes that he can save himself from misery
by ending his life. Little did he know that the monster will be

The Role Of Abolishing The One Child Policy In China
Historically, societies in which men substantially outnumber women...Often they are unstable.
Sometimes they are violent (Last). In China, over the past thirty years, gendercide, resulting from
the one child policy, along with other factors, caused the deaths of millions girls, until 2014 when
the policy was abolished. Gendercide, has left China with an unbalanced genderpopulation favoring
males. Rather than instituting a single gender policy, the population could have been managed with
financial incentives
The gendercide in China was caused, first by the institution of the one child policy, and second the
strong patriarchal history and society of China. The one child policy was created in 1979 to fix the

An alternative solution to the two child policy is, A financial incentive for parents to keep
girls...Son to have a worth of about 1.85 years of income, while the first born girl held a value of
only about 0.43 years of income (Gendercide | All Girls Allowed). A financial incentive for
parents to keep girls would help close the large income gap between first born boys and first
born girls. This alternative solution would allow for parents to keep girls and have the income
that is often secured by first born boy. This solution would also benefit families that have two
children that are both boys and girls, she hoped she would become a doctor, but her family only
had enough money to send her brother to school; as a man, he had a more likely chance of
making money to support their family (Hayoun 2). Many families may not have money to send
both their children to school or college, so, sons are sent to school because they are seen to have
more opportunities and a higher income. The alternative solution will help end gendercide and
allow for girls to get a higher education. Overall, a financial incentive is a more positive alternative
solution rather than a child limiting policy due to the embracing of girls to end

An Analysis Of Dog s Death, By John Updike
Dog s Death
The poem, Dog s Death, written by John Updike brings the reader through a sentimental and
heart wrenching journey, with the life gone too soon, of a beautiful puppy that passes away
from a traumatic injury. The poem does not reveal the owner of the puppy, but we do know that
the narrator is a man, a father, and a husband when Updike states, Monday morning, as the
children were noisily fed and I stroked her warm fur / And my wife (592). The owner could be
Updike or someone else. He allows the reader to share in the family s grief and heartbreak in the
loss of their beloved puppy. The death of a family pet can be one of the most traumatic experiences

She is still loyal and a Good dog (592) to her family, even on her deathbed.
Throughout his poem, Updike s tone is sympathetic, somber, and sorrowful when he tells us about
the death of his puppy. The reader knows that she was loved unconditionally when he relays these
heartbreaking words, Though surrounded by love that would have upheld her, / Nevertheless she
sank and, stiffening, disappeared (592). Updike lets the reader know that if love could have saved
her she had more than enough love from her family to have kept her alive. The feelings and
emotions for the puppy show the bond that is formed between animals and their families.
Updike s words are chosen to bring the reader into the emotions surrounding his poem and, in
addition, his use of symbolism guides the reader through a much deeper meaning. For example,
the word choice that he uses for the following line brings the reader to a very sorrowful place in
his poem when he states, And her heart was learning to lie down forever (592) after an autopsy
determined that his puppy has a ruptured liver. The poem line hints at the deeper meaning to show
a dog command, lie down , that he used while training her. She is still learning and worthy of the
words, Good Dog! even in death. Another example of symbolism used is the newspaper, when
Updike states, Back home, we found that in the night her frame, /

My First Day Of Grade At Springfield Essay
I remember my first day of 4th grade at Springfield local. I was nervous, the teacher who would
be teaching me was known to have made students do a lot of writing. Of course I have written
out small sentences and maybe some alphabetical practice on paper before, but I have never
written thoughts or ideas that coursed through my nine year old brain. We were advised to bring
a journal to keep all year throughout the class, to write about whatever topic the teacher desired
to assign to the classroom every single day. I remember walking in and pulling out my green five
star notebook and opening to the first page. I was so nervous. Friends from grades above me told
me how difficult the class was because of the crazy amounts of writing. Our teacher was not known
for being the nicest either, other kids would say she yelled a lot at the students and was
generally a mean person. All of this, of course, intimidates a nine year old kid. The teacher told
the class to write about our summer break. I had no clue where to even start. All the little things I
did with friends, the time I went to the beach or of course just being out of school. I was
overwhelmed. I now know being overwhelmed in writing is not a curse, but a blessing. Having so
much substance to write about and having trouble picking from that list of ideas is better than
going into a papercompletely blind and with nothing on your mind. With all of these ideas and
memories running through my small head, I chose to write

Double-Strand Breaks In Biomedical Research
The past decade has brought rapid and significant innovations in genome editing techniques. For the
first time researchers have the opportunity to manipulate essentially any gene in a plethora of cells
and organisms, using targeted nucleases that were designed for sequence specific binding of the
DNA.
One of the first breakthrough methods of gene targeting was the usage of chimeric proteins called
zinc fingers nucleases (ZFN) to create double strand breaks. Still, the real revolution was the
introduction of CRISPR and CRISPR associated (Cas) systems into the biomedical research arena.
One specific CRISPR nuclease Cas9 paired with short guide RNA has the ability to recognize the
target DNA via Watson Crick pairing. The guide sequence found... Show more content on

One of them is a reported high incidence of nonspecific DNA cleavage; while this has cooled some
of the initial enthusiasm about this method, a potential remedy is the expression of two CRISPR
modules with nickase activity against two genomic sites that are closely adjacent to one another.
Then there is a problem of mosaicism, where mutant allele is produced in only some of the cells, as
nucleases may not inevitably cut the DNA during one stage of embryonic development. The
production of multiple mutations in one organism is also possible, which can create phenotyping
bottlenecks in mouse models.
Regardless of those burning problems, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technique presents

Poetry Form Essay
Poems are a form of writing with a set meter. Most poems have an end rhyme scheme to
accompany the meter. Poems, like short stories, have symbols. Although short story symbols were
not the easiest to identify, the symbols in poems are sometimes even harder to determine. Poems
also include metaphors, imagery, a certain tone, and always have a set audience. Lyrics are the
most obvious type of poetryto date. A song has a rhythm and when the lyrics are sung to the beat
a poem is created. Lyrics are not the only form of poetry. There are many different forms poetry
can take on. Sonnets are probably the second most known form of poetry. Sonnets are made up of
14 lines, have end rhyme, and have a meter. There are two main forms of a sonnet; Shakespearean
(English) and Petrarchan (Italian).
The Italian sonnet was created by a man named Petrarch in the 14th century. This sonnet is made
up of an octave (8 lines) and a sestet (6 lines) adding up to the sonnets grand total of 14 lines. A
Volta, or dramatic change in the emotion, comes after the octave. The theme of the Petrarchan
sonnet can generally be found within the ending sestet. Two centuries later a new type of sonnet
was born. The Shakespearean sonnet was created by none other than the late William Shakespeare.
The English sonnet is made up of three quatrains (4 lines) and an ending couplet (2 lines) creating
the iconic 14 lines. The Volta comes after the 3rd quatrain leaving the couplet as the space for the
poems theme. Both

were small stores and cafes that were located opposite the beach, consisting of small litter evidently

stretched out from the shore was soon found out to transport oil from the refinery plant via
pipelines. The jetty was said to stretch for 1km out to sea emerging as submarine fuel pipelines,
along with other storage facilities around Kurnell. When conducting through the primary research
we were able to identify multiple aeroplanes that flew past the location. Due to its close proximity

rubbish pieces left by the side of the road. However from looking into secondary research the
information given was distributed into three main aspects air pollution, noise pollution and sea

The Impacts of Workaholism
In no other time in history have we witnessed such a drive towards overwork. Some may get a
sense of satisfaction from it, but many become less happy and have to suffer much. With the
appearance of this phenomenon, the term workaholic has been coined to describe these people.
Since it was familiar to men, more research have been done to this popular issue workaholism,
and it has been proved that workaholism has great effects on human. This essay gives definitions
of workaholism and reveals its positive and negative impacts on our well being in terms of health,

Finally, all these factors will reduce enterprises cohesive force and productivity. Moreover, huge
costs have to be spent on recruiting, selecting and training new employees (Quick, Henley and
Quick, 2005, p.32).
Even though workaholism has some good influences, it exerts much more negative influences on
humans.
To start with, excessive work has great impacts on people s mental health. On the one hand, it
produces huge pressure on men and affects their moods seriously. Workaholics always suffer
from obsessive worry, mood fluctuations (Quick, Henley and Quick, 2005, p.31) and this will
lead to a poor quality of life. Worse of all, those who are uninterruptedly under pressure are likely
to get paranoid, manic or even schizophrenic (Quick, Henley and Quick, 2005, p.36). On the other
hand, researchers have showed that mental disorder caused by overwork has a direct connection
with pregnancy and miscarriage. Hamilton and Denniss believe that long working hours reduce the
possibility of pregnancy and increase the risk of preterm births, also it effects infants growth (2005,
p.15). It is rueful and ridiculous that mother s addiction to work threatens babies lives.
Next, the negative physical health ramifications are caused by overwork. It enhances the
probability of having serious and fatal disease. Evidence has reflected that employees who work

Carlos Salazar Pursuit Of Happiness
Carlos Salazar begins Pursuit of Happiness by creating an idea of the different kinds of happiness
that exist. Salazar states in his thesis that, Happiness is temporarily most of the time but love is the
only happiness that can last the longest (1). Salazar has a roadmap included in his thesis but
throughout his essay he tends to steer off his roadmap. Salazar s main points consist of the
temporary happinessthat drugs, sleep, sex, and love contain. Although Salazar includes a
roadmap in his thesis and also clearly connects his topic to Drop City, Salazar needs to stay on
his roadmap, come up with a counter argument, and organize his body paragraphs. Including a
roadmap in a thesis is great but what is even more great is an essay that is composed by
following the roadmap that is set in a thesis. Salazar s claim is that love is a happiness that lasts
the longest in comparison to any other kind of happiness. Even though he does include reasoning
of his claim in his paragraphs, in some sections of his writing, Salazar seems to actually make the
claim that in some cases a person s interpretation of happiness is not actually happiness. They all

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Vs And Then There Were None...
In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and And Then There Were None, they are many similarities
displayed about human nature. Both stories share motifs of being trapped. They also prove that
humans can be very savage and very sadistic. The similarities between The Texas Chainsaw
Massacre and And Then There Were None prove that humans are is undefined. In The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre , the protagonist character, Heather, heard that her grandfather s grave have
been vandalized, in which her and her brother ,Franklin, set out with their friends to investigate
what was going on. They all stayed at Heather s family s old farmhouse. They discovered a group
of murderous outcasts living next door. Each friend were very curious. There was a killer whom
the group of friends got attacked one by one by a chainsaw. In And Then There Were None ,
they were eight people , who got invited to an island. Everyone were all strangers to each other,
and all of them thought they were there for vacation or in Vera s case, a job. In actuality, all of
them were there to get killed for the act of murder. When both stories are compared, you can see

The Physical Values Of Roger Federer And Ray Ban
Like Roger Federer, they are veterans in their designated field. Simply put, both Federer and Ray
Ban are timeless classics. Federer is arguably one of the most attractive men in all of sports. Of
course this highly relates to his great physical shape and facial features, but it is also about his
class, humbleness, and charm. As mentioned in the audit chart, Federer is considered a great
philanthropist as he has helped many people around the world and even has his own foundation. In
many ways, he can be thought of as the perfect gentleman . The perfect complimenting accessory
for an attractive gentleman such as himself is a classic pair of aviator Ray Ban sunglasses.
Of course, attractiveness is only one part of this equation. As mentioned previously, trustworthiness
may be more important for actual purchase persuasiveness. Federer s credibility adds tremendously
to his trustworthiness. He may not have won a grand slam title in 2015 or 2016 but he was still
ranked in the top 3 in the world, and has a great tract record that has proven his ability to still
compete and dominate. When Federer chooses a brand of sunglasses to wear, consumers can be
confident in his choice. Much like Federer, Ray Ban does not have to prove the value of their
product. They have both been around for a long time, and understand what it means to be great.
Another major reason for I would propose this sponsorship is due to Federer apparently not
currently having a sunglasses sponsor. He has some

Comparison Between Catullus And Jupiter
Catullus 70 is Catullus questioning his relationship with Cloudia. The poem begins by Catullus
calling his lover mulier, the latin word for a married women. Catullus says that this married women
would marry no other than him. Calling his lover a married woman sets up a tension that Catullus
carries throughout the poem. His lover tells him that she would rather be with him than anyone, but
Catullusspecific example of who she would choose him over is Jupiter. This comparison between
Catullus and Jupiter is interesting because Jupiter was known for being both the supreme god as

The Role Of Alienation And The Khalistan Movement
The communal tension in Punjab during the 1970s and 1980s stems from the alienation of Sikh
youth that occurred during the ethos of the 20th century; moreover, the heightening estrangement
the youth had experienced from society impelled them to disavow any shred of patriotism from
their psyches and contriving an atmosphere conducive to radical behavior and opposition to the self
perceived notion of tyranny by the Indian Government; moreover, the Sikhs who had felt betrayed
by the Indian government succumbed to their victim complex, perpetuating the cycle of rebellion
and instilling vindictive behaviors in their children . Drawing the analogues between alienation and

Punjab at the time was heavily reliant upon its agricultural industry, therefore jeopardizing the
livelihood of many rural farmers whose only source of income was incumbent upon their
employment in the farming industry. Unfortunately for the farmers, the Green Revolution had
crippled their only source of income, leaving them economically vulnerable. Naturally, the farmers
turned to the government to voice their concerns; however, the government refused to acknowledge
the problem as a significant one, alienating the already vulnerable farmers (Mooney). Deeply rooted
in the nature of humans is the desire to sustain oneself and turning to more powerful sources. In the
absence of support, one s psyche experiences isolation. Consequently, the Green Revolution served
as the onset of alienation within the Sikh community. In the midst of pecuniary struggles faced by
the farmers, many Sikhs were compelled to abandon their homes in rural Punjab in search of a
prosperous life where one could feed his family and educate his children in places where such
possibilities existed. Furthermore, most Sikhs were able to overcome adversity in the midst of
transition and integrate into mainstream society, mostly comprised of an amalgamation of Hindus
and already integrated Sikhs. However, a significant population of rural Sikhs failed to tolerate the
prospect of homogenization in society as the notion that their culture and religion would dissolve

Hooke Unnatural Conjugation
When studying putrifying substances , Hooke finds that with strange and unnatural copulations,
several new kinds of Animals are produc d (Hooke 99). What Hooke is discussing in this passage
is what he later refers to as accidental production (Hooke 106), his belief the production of moss,
mould, and mushrooms occurs without any concurrent seminal principle (Hooke 106). Despite the
specifics of Hooke s formulation, his belief in the productive power of strange and unnatural
copulations (Hooke 99) resonates with Deleuze and Guattari s unnatural participations , and Latour
s hybrids. Much like Hooke s microscopic representations, for Deleuze and Guattari such
conjugation involves terms that are entirely heterogeneous: for example, a humanbeing, an animal,
and a bacterium, a virus, a molecule, a microorganism (Deleuze and Guattari 242). Recent critical
theory marks these couplings as its declared area of study, but for Hooke it exists as an unintended
network of analogy that inheres to microscopic representation.... Show more content on

I Am A College Student
I m a college student on a typical college student s budget, and I moved into my apartment about
a year ago. Let me tell you this, I just now decorated my room. Yes, I spent an entire year staring
at stark white walls, with nothing but last years calendar and my celebrity crush of the moment
hanging o the wall beside my bed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it
s sort of depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget,
decorating is important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less
than $100. Like most people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures.
Little did I know how expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount
retailers like Target, figuring I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost
about $30, and while that isn t really expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend
on one item. I did come across a rather small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite
Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my
bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my room. The point is, however, that we can t
discriminate against those really cheap shops. To find good pictures for a really low price I
recommend going to unexpected places, such as Rite Aid. Believe it or not, you might just find
one or two items you like. If all else fails,

Analysis Of The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop
When Elizabeth Bishop writes a poem of someone s experience catching a fish, the person
catching the fish, presumed as the narrator, describes the fish s intricate details which essentially
gives it an ugly appearance. In an explication of The Fish, the analyzer also notes how the narrator
s descriptions yield an ugly appearance of the fish, but with further observation, the narrator
realizes the beauty deep within the fish and the fact that the fish is a warrior. The ugly description
of the outside of the fish correlates with how some people tend to make a quick judgment based on
someone s appearance without taking the time to think about what their personality or
characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through that has caused
them to look that way. Evidently, as the poem continues, the narrator reveals that the fish has been
through at least five battles, according to the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a symbol for
anyone who has dealt with difficulties during their life, will persevere even while the outside world
continues its routine. The world will never stop for one person or, in this case, an animal from the
poem, The Fish. All other people follow through with their daily tasks and the sun still shines in the
morning. Comparably, in The Fish, the crickets went on with their chatter and the soft rain
incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Although neither of these setting features were

Victoria s Influence On Tom Luis Luis De Victoria
The 16th century was a time of the Spanish Inquisition, which reigned for almost 400 years,
forcing those who weren t Catholic to convert to Catholicism (Koeller). Catholicism was a major
influence in all aspects of Spanish life at that time, ranging from music to art and daily living.
Being a 16th century composer, TomГЎs Luis De Victoria was greatly influenced by the Catholic
Church. Most, if not all of his music consisted of sacred pieces (Ferris). He was a Spanish
polyphonic composer whose specialty was in motets. Not only was he one of the greatest
composers and musicians of his time, he was also a scholar, a mystic, and a priest.
Victoria was born in 1548 in SanchidriГЎn, Spain, a province of Avila, Castile to father, Francisco
Luis de Victoria and mother, Francisca SuГЎrez de la Concha. Victoria was seventh of eleven
children who were born into a family already leading vast and successful careers. Three of his male
cousins (on his mother s side) achieved success by being a naval commander, a pioneer in Mexico,
and a merchant in Florence. The merchant married Grand Duke Cosimo I de Medici s sister in law
and was ennobled. The uncle on Victoria s father s side, who he was named after, was a lawyer
who pleaded cases before the royal chancery at Valladolid (a city in north central Spain) and was
later a priest. His other uncle on his father s side was also a priest (Stevenson).

Biography of Jorge Chavez
Jorge Chavez is considered in Peru, the country where I was born, a hero for being the first man
who attempted to fly across the Alps. Although he didn t manage to meet his objective because his
BlГ©riot XI crashed upon landing, the bravery and courage he exhibited while he was alive were
determinants to his career success. Therefore, in the present paper, I intend to highlight Chavez
aeronautical achievements and, likewise, explain how he became fascinated in aviation.
Jorge Chavez, a Peruvian Born in Paris
Jorge Chavez Dartnell was born on June 13, 1887 in Paris, France. His parents, Don Manuel

Paulhan immediately recognized that the young engineer had the ideal characteristics to become an
aviator, but before he had the opportunity to invite him to join his team, Chavez requested to
become a member. Naturally, Louis Paulhan accepted his proposal, which allowed Jorge Chavez to
participate in multiple competitions as an observer. Later, when Paulhan entered into partnership
with Henri Farman, a French aviator and aircraft designer, Chavez also took part in the association.
As a result, the Peruvian airman was admitted in the prestigious Farman Flight School as a student
pilot. Nevertheless, he first had to sign a contract in which he agreed to purchase an airplane built
by the Farman Company, as well as to participate in air competitions.
Obtaining His First World Record
According to Hard Matthews, the writer of Pioneer Aviators of the World , Chavez had been a
formidable soccer player and was already well known when he took up flying in December, 1909.
He managed to obtain his license NВ°32, issued by the AГ©ro Club de France , five days after his
solo flight in February 1910. In order to test his skills, the last day of February, he took his Farman
biplane aloft for nearly two hours, flying until he finally ran out of fuel.
By early April, Chavez had won his first prizes flying at an aviation meeting in Nice. After that, the

GLOBULINS There are various plasma globulins which have been identified in the blood plasma
1)О‘1 globulin: also known as transcortin. It binds to a number of steroidal drugs such as cortisone
and prednisone so also known a corticosteroid binding globulin
2)A2 globulin: also known as ceruloplasmin. It generally binds to vitamins A, D, E and K and also
to cupric ions.
3)О’1 globulin: also known as transferrin and it binds to ferrous ions.
4)B2 globulin: it binds to carotinoids.
5)Y globulin: It generally binds to antigens.
METHODS FOR MEASUREMENT OF PPB
Many successful methods to measure the degree of plasma protein binding of drugs have been
derived. All these method work by physically separating the unbound drug from the bound drug and
calculating the relative fractions.
Some beneficial techniques to measure plasma protein binding are:
a)Equilibrium dialysis
b)Ultrafiltration
c)Ultracentrifugation
d)Microdialysis
e)Gel filtration
f)Circular dichroism
g)Microspheres of albumin
There are some other techniques also which are utilized to a lesser extent such as micro extraction
and optical biosensors such that they could be used for highly protein bound drugs. None of the
methods could be judged as superior over others as all these methods possess some advantages as
well as disadvantages.

The mind is one of the most complex parts of our bodies and even today, 1,694 years after

One of the most famous author s known for writing about madness is Edgar Allan Poe. Well known

visual imagery, a little bit of touch and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed

How Much Control And Pressure Should Parents Exert Over...
The second real life scenario that we ll be investigating in relation to the knowledge question, How
much control and pressure should parents exert over children? is the lives of child prodigies.
A child prodigy is defined as: a person who, at an early age, develops one or more skills at a level
far beyond the norm for their age.
Although nature does play a factor in their ability, child prodigies are also often strongly pushed
and controlled by their parents. Their abilities can thus, to a certain extent, be seen as a result of
their parents raising methods.
I ll be introducing two such child prodigies.
The first of these is William James Sidis. Sidis was born on April 1st, 1898, to a family of brilliant,
but neurotic parents. His father, Boris Sidis, was a professor of psychology at Harvard, and saw his
son s birth as an opportunity to perform experiments on the human psyche on a live specimen.
Specifically, Boris put intense academic pressure on William.
At five, William was learning Latin, Greek, Russian, French, German, and Hebrew. At the same
time, the media constantly hounded him and monitored his progress: Sidis lived a life of constant
scrutiny.
By nine, his father had forced him to enrol in Harvard; by twelve, he was a lecturer.
But by his sixteenth birthday, Sidis retired from Harvard after a heavily publicised mental
breakdown and began to lead a life of total seclusion, abstaining from even academia. Sidis took on

Chandigarh, India Abstract This paper proposes direct torque control of induction motor
simulation using conventional method and space vector pulse width modulation technique for
ripple reduction. Direct Torque Control is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain
high performance torque control and thereby controlling the speed of induction motor. The
principle is based on simultaneous decoupling of stator flux and electromagnetic torque of AC
drive system. DTC drives use hysteresis comparators and they suffer from high torque ripple and
variable switching frequency problem. The proposed SVM based DTC reduces torque ripples.
The basis of the SVM DTC methodology is the calculation of the required voltage space vector to
compensate the flux and torque errors and its generation using the SVM at each sample period. The
performance of this method is demonstrated by simulation using MATLAB/Simulink software.
Simulation results presented in this paper show the torque, flux linkage and stator current ripple
decreases with the proposed SVM DTC algorithm. Keywords: Direct Torque Control, Space vector

With regard to presentation we have been asked to select brand (product or service), perform as
its specialist and finally present our findings/ideas. Our group chose one of the largest companies
that operates in the UK Supermarkets market Tesco Plc. In order to analyse macro, micro, and
internal environment of selected brand were used such an important tools as PESTLE/PEST,
SWOT Analysis, Porter s 5 Forces and BSG Matrix. And ultimately we have been asked to write

Thereby, all the findings allowed our team to highlight areas in which company has got some
challenges, such as Clothing (Question mark) and Technics (Dogs) which helped our group to
make recommendations at the end of presentation. With regard to recommendations, I would like
to pay attention on the fact that all of the tools and methods which have been used in presentation,
helped our group to outline some challenges of Tesco Plc. Due to that statement, we outlined key
areas, such as online shopping market, music and video markets, on which Tesco Plc must focus
on in case of potential progress, increasing profit and customer loyalty. In general, despite of the
fact that all used tools have helped us to analyse the company s performance, some of them have
limitations which impede clear understanding of situation. Nevertheless, the mix of these tools
gave us solid method how to examine performance of the company. As a final point, I would like
to state that, generally, our group did presentation well. Whilst I had a feeling that some of my
partners were a bit apprehensive

In The Time Of The Butterflies And Antigone
In the Time of the Butterflies Essay
The novel In the Time of the Butterflies, by Julia Alvarez and the play Antigone by Sophocles,
both include similar characters, situations, and actions that react to the idea of a dangerous
growing authority. The characters Dede from the Time of the Butterflies and Ismene from
Antigone both strive to stay out of trouble with the government; however Dede s approach is
more effective as she becomes an oracle character by the end of the novel, for she lives to tell the
story of the Mirabal sisters. Dede uses her relationship with her sisters and her own family to
survive through the dangerous reign of Trujillo. When facing a regime such as Trujillo s regime,
the survivors who live to tell their story, like Dede, are crucial to understanding and analyzing
important historical moments. These survivors live through real tragedies, so they are primary
resources with personal opinions and experiences.
To begin, Dede s ability to support and stay in contact with her sisters without getting too
involved with the dangers of the government allow her to stay safe, as well as tell accurate
stories from the time of Trujillo s reign. Through all the struggles her sisters undergo, Dede still
supports and cares for them. Even after her sisters are freed from jail, Dede still finds herself in
the habit of staying over the nights before our visits. She said she had to be at Mama s early the
next day anyhow to help with all of the children once we left

Causes And Consequences Of The Social Identity Theory
The Social Identity Theory was created by Dr. Henri Tajfel, British Social psychologist, and Dr.
John Turner, a graduate student of Dr. Tajfel, in 1979. Social identity is defined as an individual s
sense of self in relation to a group (McLeod, 2008). This psychological theory is based on the idea
of discrimination between different groups; Dr. Tajfel and Dr. John Turner wanted to understand
why and how this intergroup discrimination occurs. The life experiences of the theorists,
components of the theory, and possible consequences of the theory contribute to how relatable this
theory is to college students.
To understand the foundation that the Social Identity theory was built on, one must understand the
life experiences of those who created the theory. Dr. Henri Tajfelwas born in Polish Jewish family
on June 22, 1919. During his late childhood and early adulthood, Jews were despised by the
Germans and approximately six million Jews were executed during the 1930s. During the
Holocaust, his immediate family and closest friends were murdered by the Nazis. His life was
spared, because he went to school at Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he became fluent in
French. Dr. Tajfel pretended to be French male in the French Army. However, according to
Vaughan (2017), he did become a prison of war in 1940 because of his assumed French identity.
He would have been most likely killed if his true ethnicity was revealed. Nevertheless, these life
experiences encouraged him to do

BACKGROUND
The Niger Delta produces the oil wealth which accounts for the bulk of Nigeria s foreign
earnings. Paradoxically however, these vast revenues from an international industry have barely
touched the Niger Delta s own pervasive local poverty (UNDP, 2006:1). The majority of the
population in the rural areas in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria are living in extreme poverty in

Over time, the effects of oil and gas exploration on the environment have become a cause of concern
to stakeholders, government, NGOs communities and individuals. This has led the government to
formulate various policies to arrest the situation and thus promote sustainable exploration activities.
Unfortunately, most of these programs have not yielded the desired results (Guardian Newspaper
2006: 16).
The rural populace in the Niger Delta mainly practice fishing and subsistence farming, but during
floods, which lasts for over half of the year in some areas the waters are usually contaminated which
negatively affects marine life; with the waters unable to sustain vegetation due to petroleum
hydrocarbon pollutants. Drinking water is scarce and in the dry season, water is usually not
available which also increases the risk of water borne diseases. The inhabitants of the area also
experience scorching heat daily from gas flaring which is also detrimental to the health of the
people (Chukwuezi, 2006:4).
The major problems of the Niger Delta Region mentioned above can be summarized as follows:
Poverty
Poverty has been described as the inability of a person to meet basic needs such as food, shelter,
clothing, healthcare and education. The poverty situation in the Niger Delta region is perhaps the
worst in Nigeria today. It also results in poor

It s considered the best natural appetite suppressant that has not been researched thoroughly but
showed good efficacy.
Another type of weight loss pills is gaining more popularity due to more safe and healthy effect
comparing with others fat blockers. Among prescription drugs it is Xenical, blocking fat by
affecting lipase enzymes responsible for fat absorption. It helped many people lose weight along
with good dieting regime, but it s side effects include abdomen discomfort, diarrhea, and the
inability to absorb a lot of important fat soluble vitamins and other nutrients.
Alli is a lighter version of Xenical with the same side effects and many medical professionals
refuse to ally themselves with Alli as best weight loss pill because of moderate efficacy combined
with many side effects.
Among natural fat blockers chitosan is widespread ingredient. There are many pills based on
chitosan claiming fat blocking effect, but scientific researches proved weak fat blocking capacities
of chitosan.
As fat blocker, acting somewhat like Xenical but binding fats directly in the stomach, Proactol
now is a leading weight loss pill. It acts safely and helps lose weight steadily and prevent weight

Effects of the Asian Financial Crisis on 1997
The financial crisis in many countries in Asia in 1997 1998 was an unexpected event. It was
mainly because most of the Asian countries had been enjoying economic growth prior to the crisis.
The crisis itself started with the devaluation of Thailand s Baht in July 1997. The Thailand
government decided to float its currency in order to defend the Baht against speculative attack,
despite its fixed exchange rate system. This decision was apparently the beginning of the economic
downturn of many Asian countries, such as Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, and
Indonesia. Before the crisis, Indonesia s economy was growing rapidly; having a low inflationand a
well maintained current account deficit. However, Indonesia surprisingly became the country that
was affected the most by the crisis. This paper aims to examine the effects of the Asian financial
crisisin 1997 1998 to Indonesian economy and how it could happen.
After Thailand floated the baht in 1997, Indonesia s monetary widened its currency trading band.
It changed the exchange rate regime from floating exchange rate to free floating exchange rate,
causing the Rupiah and the stock market to decline. Before the crisis, the exchange rate between
the rupiah and the US dollar was approximately 2,600 Rupiah/USD. The rupiah started to
depreciate to 4,000 Rupiah/USD, and dropped dramatically to over 11,000 Rupiah/USD on
January 1998. The spot rates were over 14,000 in January 1998 and trading again over 14,000

Women During The Revolutionary Era
Fighting....maybe for freedom, but probably not was an indication of just how revolutionary the
Revolution War era was for women. As America was going through a new estate with the legacy of
the revolution, and striving for a new national governance, opportunities arose for both men and
women. During the revolutionary era, womanshowed achievements in war and education. Although,
women developed a new consciousness that increased opportunities to influence public life, it was
often limited and ridiculed by women s traditional roles to society.
The American Revolution signified a period that was rich in debates about the nature of the
government as well as the rights of citizens. It generated changes in the principles, opinions, and ...

According to DuBois, This European intellectual movement emphasized the rights of individual, the
role of reason, the promise of social progress, and the importance of the scientific method (DuBois,
pg. 125). Although, the appreciation for the rights of individuals were questioned, would it apply to
both men and women? Surprisingly, women of were able to make some great contributions,
however, they had their limitations. This is shown during the taxations that the French put on
colonials.
The taxations that were put on tea, household items, and cloth would became the biggest burden on
women, as consumers. The events arose women s political consciousness and gave them an
opportunity to voice opinions on the burdens place on them and their neighbors. Therefore, women
resisted these new polices by boycotting British goods. Instead of using imported cloth they began
creating their own, and they also began using herbal teas and coffee. Women of the time finally saw
an opportunity where they exert some political influence and they took it. They took much pride in
their work because they actually thought that they had finally had an opportunity to exert a political
influence. In New England the spinning bees were popular for manufacturing yarn and free white
women called themselves Liberty s daughters . They were recognized in newspapers and women

  • 2. Forgiveness In C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity I actually read two chapters that we had not yet read from the book Mere Christianity and chose the one that has had the most significant impact on my life in recent years. I have come to understand forgiveness in such a different manner since becoming a Christian and yet reading C. S. Lewis s take on forgiveness and Christianityaugmented my understanding even further. I am excited to review this chapter and share with you my story of forgiveness, as well as, reveal how this chapter has impacted and altered my understanding of forgiveness and my faith. C. S. Lewis spends the beginning of his chapters identifying the conflicts regarding the topic that he is about to embark on. I think this is a great approach to his writing; identify the problem, find common ground in order to open the mind of the reader to hear the topic of the chapter. Here Lewis identifies that the problem with forgiveness is that people think it hateful and contemptible. That sort of talk makes them sick, they say (Mere Christianity, 1952, p.115). He also expresses that he is not trying to tell you that he is particularly great at forgiveness, but that he is merely explaining that this is what Christianity is. Lewis explains that forgiveness is described in the Bible very matter of fact he says it is made perfectly clear that if we do not forgive we shall not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... S. Lewis s Mere Christianity is that this same compassion and understanding that I now have for my mom I can practice with anyone outside my home. I am not sure why it had not dawned on me until reading this chapter that this same idea can be extended outside my home or my network of friends, but also to my neighbors and my community. Especially to those whom cause me to be judgmental which is something Christians are not supposed to be. In those moments I will work to remind myself of C. S. Lewis s guidance on how to love others as we love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Negative Impact Of The Industrial Revolution Since the birth of human civilization, mankind has always been playing a competitive game with mother nature. The relentless pursuit of his progress, security, and comfort has resulted in an increase of stress on mother nature. It all began in the year of 1760. What we call the industrial revolution was a major turning point in Earth s ecology and humans relationship with their environment. The revolution drastically changed every aspect of human life and lifestyles. Human development, health, and life longevity to social improvements and the impact on natural resources, the effects were becoming more evident every year. The industrial revolution wasn t something that was made up overnight, some would say it was started the moment machinery was replacing manual labor. Fossil fuels were to replace the role of wind, water, and food for a more inexpensive, efficient strategy for performing the same tasks. What some didn t know or even ignore about this substitution was that it could be extremely detrimental to both mother nature and human health. The full impact would not begin to be realized until about one hundred years later. Consequently, the life sustaining environment has been forced to transform more rapidly than it ever has before. The tendency humans have to exert a negative influence on ecology has resulted in a rapid increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, large deforestation, loss of biodiversity, severe land degradation, and environmental pollution. ... • 4. Analysis Of Dreams From My Father By Barack Obama Dreams from my father written by; former president Barack Obama. This text shows another side to Obama that many of us has never seen of him before. In class my group and I covered chapters 12 13; our group discussed some of the ideas of Obamas character. As we discussed his experiences early in his career in the community of Chicago had helped him in the future, for his presidency. The text we read showed a lot about Obama as a person it helped me understand Obama even more. Obama is a caring man that only wants to help, for him to help the community he has to understand the problems they are facing. Obama takes time to talk to citizens in poverty stricken areas of Chicago. I think that shows that Obama genially wants to help others and is taking his own time to properly gather a better understanding of the citizen s problems. Also we discussed if America has grown as a country, and if the ideals from our parents have been bestowed to us their children. Has time truly changed is our current generation much different from past generations? Since Obama was young he has lived a life of struggles and hardships, from his mother and father not staying together. The constant moving around even to different parts of the world. Obama has chosen to be the example that America has seen. He has taken the hard times he has been dealt and focused on to try to help other people s struggles. Obama had chosen to work in the community to fix the problems in Chicago. This speaks a lot of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Gender Bias And Its Effect On Education Leedy, LaLonde, and Runk (2003) found that their data supported and built on the findings of other researchers concerning gender stereotypes. They found that girls who were motivated and had mathematical talent were still subject to the effects of gender bias and that they had decreased confidence in their mathematical abilities. The research also indicated a continuing belief that math is a maledomain. Females did not acknowledge the stereotype and felt the survey was biased and insulting and left comments saying so. No such comments were left by males. The belief by men that math is a male domain, coupled with the failure of women to acknowledge the biases existence sets up an unrealistic relationship. The researchers postulated that rather than denying biases exist, we must acknowledge them so that we can move on and reform education. They felt that the reforms need to occur outside, as well as inside, the classroom, and must include parents, especially mothers. The attitudes of all parties involved must be changed for reform to be effective. Riegle Crumb and Moore (2013) found that females were underrepresented in the engineering course they studied. Although female students made up 50% of the enrollment at the high schools, they only comprised an average of 14% of course enrollees. Women in the classes shared similar academic backgrounds with their male classmates, but the women were more likely to have a parent who worked in engineering or a scientific field. ... • 6. Mr. Palomar By Italo Calvino Mr. Palomar exhibits a unique interesting character throughout the entire book Mr. Palomar by Italo Calvino. The odd slipper (Page 99 101), specifically addresses a lot of Mr. Palomar s perspectives on simple topics, it clearly shows that Mr. Palomar is a deep thinker and it conveys his habit of over complicating matters that are supposed to be simple, it is effective in highlighting the image that Mr. Palomaris a character who tends to isolate himself from the world by questioning it and examining every aspect of our being and stance in society. The odd slipper (Page 99) is about Mr. Palomar receiving a mismatched shoe while shopping in Bazaar. This passage displays the sudden division of Mr. Palomar s seemingly strong perspective into two different, opposing viewpoints. One is that at first, Mr. Palomar believed that by purchasing a mismatched shoe, he had started a chain of events that would cause consequences in the future: centuries can go by before the consequences of this mistake affect another visitor to that ancient bazaar. Every process of disintegration in the order of the world is irreversible; the effects, however, are hidden and delayed by the dust cloud of the big numbers, which contains virtually limitless possibilities of new symmetries, combinations, pairings. (Page 100) By saying this, Mr. Palomar means that any changes in the world that bring about disorder are irreversible, but their consequences may actually be hidden until the very end. ... Updike lets the reader know that if love could have saved her she had more than enough love from her family to have kept her alive. • 12. My First Day Of Grade At Springfield Essay I remember my first day of 4th grade at Springfield local. I was nervous, the teacher who would be teaching me was known to have made students do a lot of writing. Of course I have written out small sentences and maybe some alphabetical practice on paper before, but I have never written thoughts or ideas that coursed through my nine year old brain. We were advised to bring a journal to keep all year throughout the class, to write about whatever topic the teacher desired to assign to the classroom every single day. I remember walking in and pulling out my green five star notebook and opening to the first page. I was so nervous. Friends from grades above me told me how difficult the class was because of the crazy amounts of writing. Our teacher was not known for being the nicest either, other kids would say she yelled a lot at the students and was generally a mean person. All of this, of course, intimidates a nine year old kid. The teacher told the class to write about our summer break. I had no clue where to even start. All the little things I did with friends, the time I went to the beach or of course just being out of school. I was overwhelmed. I now know being overwhelmed in writing is not a curse, but a blessing. Having so much substance to write about and having trouble picking from that list of ideas is better than going into a papercompletely blind and with nothing on your mind. One of the first breakthrough methods of gene targeting was the usage of chimeric proteins called zinc fingers nucleases (ZFN) to create double strand breaks. • 17. Poetry Form Essay Poems are a form of writing with a set meter. Most poems have an end rhyme scheme to accompany the meter. Poems, like short stories, have symbols. Although short story symbols were not the easiest to identify, the symbols in poems are sometimes even harder to determine. Poems also include metaphors, imagery, a certain tone, and always have a set audience. Lyrics are the most obvious type of poetryto date. A song has a rhythm and when the lyrics are sung to the beat a poem is created. Lyrics are not the only form of poetry. There are many different forms poetry can take on. Sonnets are probably the second most known form of poetry. Sonnets are made up of 14 lines, have end rhyme, and have a meter. There are two main forms of a sonnet; Shakespearean (English) and Petrarchan (Italian). The Italian sonnet was created by a man named Petrarch in the 14th century. This sonnet is made up of an octave (8 lines) and a sestet (6 lines) adding up to the sonnets grand total of 14 lines. A Volta, or dramatic change in the emotion, comes after the octave. The theme of the Petrarchan sonnet can generally be found within the ending sestet. Two centuries later a new type of sonnet was born. The Shakespearean sonnet was created by none other than the late William Shakespeare. The English sonnet is made up of three quatrains (4 lines) and an ending couplet (2 lines) creating the iconic 14 lines. The Volta comes after the 3rd quatrain leaving the couplet as the space for the poems theme. Both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though workaholism has some good influences, it exerts much more negative influences on humans. To start with, excessive work has great impacts on people s mental health. On the one hand, it produces huge pressure on men and affects their moods seriously. Workaholics always suffer from obsessive worry, mood fluctuations (Quick, Henley and Quick, 2005, p.31) and this will lead to a poor quality of life. • 22. Carlos Salazar Pursuit Of Happiness Carlos Salazar begins Pursuit of Happiness by creating an idea of the different kinds of happiness that exist. Salazar states in his thesis that, Happiness is temporarily most of the time but love is the only happiness that can last the longest (1). Salazar has a roadmap included in his thesis but throughout his essay he tends to steer off his roadmap. Salazar s main points consist of the temporary happinessthat drugs, sleep, sex, and love contain. Although Salazar includes a roadmap in his thesis and also clearly connects his topic to Drop City, Salazar needs to stay on his roadmap, come up with a counter argument, and organize his body paragraphs. Including a roadmap in a thesis is great but what is even more great is an essay that is composed by following the roadmap that is set in a thesis. Salazar s claim is that love is a happiness that lasts the longest in comparison to any other kind of happiness. Even though he does include reasoning of his claim in his paragraphs, in some sections of his writing, Salazar seems to actually make the claim that in some cases a person s interpretation of happiness is not actually happiness. They all make people happy but is it worth being happy for the things that they do or are they just wasting time trying to be happy (Salazar 5).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of suddenly changing topics, Salazar can create separate paragraphs for each different topic. By creating more paragraphs for each topic instead of combining multiple topics into one paragraph Salazar will help his readers understand his writing in a more facile ... The ugly description of the outside of the fish correlates with how some people tend to make a quick judgment based on someone s appearance without taking the time to think about what their personality or characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through that has caused them to look that way. There are so many things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m weak in. I m not quite sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire essay, although I think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the words free and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. Being one of the oldest and most revered governmental entities, the USPS is an institution that is lack in today s modern society. The United States Postal Service is struggling to keep up with the times and remain relevant in the face of all of the new technologies out there. According to the 2013 article titled Top 10 Disappearing Futures , authored by C. Wagner, companies such as Sears and Montgomery Ward left the mail order catalog long ago. With these companies getting away from this type of commerce, it also left the United States Postal Servicewith a chunk of their existence missing with the loss cash on delivery, or COD. This opened up a door though for privately owned businesses, such as FedEx, UPS and DHL in which they began tapping into this type of market (Wagner, 2013). More and more companies these days offer incentives to customers who choose paperless billing, or automatic payments. It is saving companies from having to use paper mail and can conduct almost all of their business digitally over the internet. Most of the mail that we do receive via the... The second real life scenario that we ll be investigating in relation to the knowledge question, How much control and pressure should parents exert over children? is the lives of child prodigies. A child prodigy is defined as: a person who, at an early age, develops one or more skills at a level far beyond the norm for their age. Although nature does play a factor in their ability, child prodigies are also often strongly pushed and controlled by their parents. Their abilities can thus, to a certain extent, be seen as a result of their parents raising methods. I ll be introducing two such child prodigies. The first of these is William James Sidis. Sidis was born on April 1st, 1898, to a family of brilliant, but neurotic parents. His father, Boris Sidis, was a professor of psychology at Harvard, and saw his son s birth as an opportunity to perform experiments on the human psyche on a live specimen. Specifically, Boris put intense academic pressure on William. At five, William was learning Latin, Greek, Russian, French, German, and Hebrew. At the same time, the media constantly hounded him and monitored his progress: Sidis lived a life of constant scrutiny. By nine, his father had forced him to enrol in Harvard; by twelve, he was a lecturer. But by his sixteenth birthday, Sidis retired from Harvard after a heavily publicised mental breakdown and began to lead a life of total seclusion, abstaining from even academia. Sidis took on odd jobs, such as working at a printing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional method and space vector pulse width modulation Naveen chander PG Student Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India snl.naveen@gmail.com Dr. Lini Mathew Associate Professor Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India Dr. S. Chatterji Professor Head Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India Abstract This paper proposes direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional method and space vector pulse width modulation technique for ripple reduction. Direct Torque Control is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain high performance torque control and thereby controlling the speed of induction motor. The principle is based on simultaneous decoupling of stator flux and electromagnetic torque of AC drive system. DTC drives use hysteresis comparators and they suffer from high torque ripple and variable switching frequency problem. The proposed SVM based DTC reduces torque ripples. The basis of the SVM DTC methodology is the calculation of the required voltage space vector to compensate the flux and torque errors and its generation using the SVM at each sample period. The performance of this method is demonstrated by simulation using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results presented in this paper show the torque, flux linkage and stator current ripple decreases with the proposed SVM DTC algorithm. In The Time Of The Butterflies And Antigone In the Time of the Butterflies Essay The novel In the Time of the Butterflies, by Julia Alvarez and the play Antigone by Sophocles, both include similar characters, situations, and actions that react to the idea of a dangerous growing authority. The characters Dede from the Time of the Butterflies and Ismene from Antigone both strive to stay out of trouble with the government; however Dede s approach is more effective as she becomes an oracle character by the end of the novel, for she lives to tell the story of the Mirabal sisters. Dede uses her relationship with her sisters and her own family to survive through the dangerous reign of Trujillo. When facing a regime such as Trujillo s regime, the survivors who live to tell their story, like Dede, are crucial to understanding and analyzing important historical moments. These survivors live through real tragedies, so they are primary resources with personal opinions and experiences. To begin, Dede s ability to support and stay in contact with her sisters without getting too involved with the dangers of the government allow her to stay safe, as well as tell accurate stories from the time of Trujillo s reign. Through all the struggles her sisters undergo, Dede still supports and cares for them. • 50. Causes And Consequences Of The Social Identity Theory The Social Identity Theory was created by Dr. Henri Tajfel, British Social psychologist, and Dr. John Turner, a graduate student of Dr. Tajfel, in 1979. Social identity is defined as an individual s sense of self in relation to a group (McLeod, 2008). This psychological theory is based on the idea of discrimination between different groups; Dr. Tajfel and Dr. John Turner wanted to understand why and how this intergroup discrimination occurs. The life experiences of the theorists, components of the theory, and possible consequences of the theory contribute to how relatable this theory is to college students. To understand the foundation that the Social Identity theory was built on, one must understand the life experiences of those who created the theory. Dr. Henri Tajfelwas born in Polish Jewish family on June 22, 1919. During his late childhood and early adulthood, Jews were despised by the Germans and approximately six million Jews were executed during the 1930s. During the Holocaust, his immediate family and closest friends were murdered by the Nazis. His life was spared, because he went to school at Sorbonne in Paris, France, where he became fluent in French. Dr. Tajfel pretended to be French male in the French Army. However, according to Vaughan (2017), he did become a prison of war in 1940 because of his assumed French identity. He would have been most likely killed if his true ethnicity was revealed. Over time, the effects of oil and gas exploration on the environment have become a cause of concern to stakeholders, government, NGOs communities and individuals. This has led the government to formulate various policies to arrest the situation and thus promote sustainable exploration activities. Unfortunately, most of these programs have not yielded the desired results (Guardian Newspaper 2006: 16). The rural populace in the Niger Delta mainly practice fishing and subsistence farming, but during floods, which lasts for over half of the year in some areas the waters are usually contaminated which negatively affects marine life; with the waters unable to sustain vegetation due to petroleum hydrocarbon pollutants. Drinking water is scarce and in the dry season, water is usually not available which also increases the risk of water borne diseases. The inhabitants of the area also experience scorching heat daily from gas flaring which is also detrimental to the health of the people (Chukwuezi, 2006:4). The major problems of the Niger Delta Region mentioned above can be summarized as follows: Poverty Poverty has been described as the inability of a person to meet basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, healthcare and education. The poverty situation in the Niger Delta region is perhaps the worst in Nigeria today. It also results in poor

  • 54. Effects of the Asian Financial Crisis on 1997 The financial crisis in many countries in Asia in 1997 1998 was an unexpected event. It was mainly because most of the Asian countries had been enjoying economic growth prior to the crisis. The crisis itself started with the devaluation of Thailand s Baht in July 1997. The Thailand government decided to float its currency in order to defend the Baht against speculative attack, despite its fixed exchange rate system. This decision was apparently the beginning of the economic downturn of many Asian countries, such as Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Indonesia. Before the crisis, Indonesia s economy was growing rapidly; having a low inflationand a well maintained current account deficit. However, Indonesia surprisingly became the country that was affected the most by the crisis. This paper aims to examine the effects of the Asian financial crisisin 1997 1998 to Indonesian economy and how it could happen. After Thailand floated the baht in 1997, Indonesia s monetary widened its currency trading band. It changed the exchange rate regime from floating exchange rate to free floating exchange rate, causing the Rupiah and the stock market to decline. Before the crisis, the exchange rate between the rupiah and the US dollar was approximately 2,600 Rupiah/USD. The rupiah started to depreciate to 4,000 Rupiah/USD, and dropped dramatically to over 11,000 Rupiah/USD on January 1998. Surprisingly, women of were able to make some great contributions, however, they had their limitations. This is shown during the taxations that the French put on colonials. The taxations that were put on tea, household items, and cloth would became the biggest burden on women, as consumers. The events arose women s political consciousness and gave them an opportunity to voice opinions on the burdens place on them and their neighbors. Therefore, women resisted these new polices by boycotting British goods. Instead of using imported cloth they began creating their own, and they also began using herbal teas and coffee.
