Examples Of Knowledge In Rappaccini s Daughter
In society, especially in the time of the Enlightenment, pursuit of knowledge through the use of
rationality and reason was thought of as every man s goal. Thus, innocence had negative connotations
associated with it. When Romanticism began, thoughts associated with the Enlightenment were
thrown upside down. Nathaniel Hawthorne shows in Rappaccini s Daughter, through the characters of
Giovanni and Beatrice, how innocence is something to be valued. He shows how knowledge is a form
of corruption and how its pursuit is responsible for the ruin of their characters. Giovanni is portrayed
in the beginning of the story as completely innocent and unknowing. He knows little about this new
place where he came to study, and he longs for his hometown. In the physical sense he is a healthy and
handsome young man and is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes knowledge is a poison, leading to the decay and the loss on one s innocence. The pursuit
of knowledge turned Rappaccini into a monster. He was so obsessed with science that he would
sacrifice human life...or whatever else was dearest to him, for the sake of a adding so much as a grain
of mustard seed to his store of knowledge. Baglioni s pursuit of knowledge also corrupted him. He
becomes so preoccupied with bringing about Rappaccini s downfall that he himself descends to
Rappaccini s level. He orchestrates the death of Beatrice just to pull ahead in his professional rivalry.
The toxicity of the flowers in the garden is used as a metaphor for corruption or the lack of innocence.
Hawthorne demonstrates how innocence is something that once taken, cannot ever be returned. Once
Beatrice realizes the horrible truth, that she has been contaminated by the poison and transformed by
her own father into such a terrible creature, she wants her innocence back. Thus, when Beatrice drinks
the antidote made by Baglioni, it does not cure her of the poison but kills

Theme Of Look Back In Anger
Identically, Wesker presents the play altogether in small unified place. It takes place in the kitchen of a
famous restaurant called Tivoli (I.2). Each writer prefers his favorite stage set; a back room, a hotel
lobby, or merely a street. For Wesker, it is a restaurant kitchen that forms a perfect setting (kitchin 76).
Although Wesker has written about different topics, they usually look a lot like a kitchen. The title of
his plays is somehow foodsome and kitcheny (Michael 35) such as chips with everything, roots, and
chicken soup with barley. The Kitchen involves numerous elements of the setting however simple; a
butcher s table, (I.55) gas oven, (I.26) storage units, (I.43) swing doors, (II.126) and sinks (II.150). ...

Osborne chooses his characters to suit his needs and feelings (Cook 4). Starting with the main
characters, Jimmy is...about twenty five, Cliff is the same age, and Alison...is roughly the same age
(I.22,23). His choice of characters is potent as it produces the needed result; mirroring the real life.
Osborne intentionally puts Porter in comparison with Cliff. When Alison has burnt her arm, Porter
neglects the fact. However, the stage directions crystallize the sensitivity of Cliff when he
carefully...rubs the soap over the burn (I.48). Furthermore, Cliff and Porter are from the working class.
Cliff himself asserts the point when he says: we both come from working people (I.38). Finally, this
choice of characters intentionally puts the working class in confrontation with the upper class

Snake Similes In Amy
Amy Rose s article, Vergil s Ship Snake Simile, explores the importance of the snake similes
presented throughout book two and book five of the Aeneid. Specifically, there are important
differences with how these snake similes are depicted in these two books, which Rose focuses on and
examines their significance to the story. This article suggests that stark differences between these two
books shines a light on Aeneas change of fortune since the fall of Troy. Rose further extends the
argument to encompass that these snakes also symbolize Aeneas newfound responsibility to his
followers. Therefore, the snake similes suggest Aeneas change of fortune and his newfound
responsibility.
To understand the significance of these snake similes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first reference to a snake in book five appears when Aeneas offers anniversary offerings to
Anchises grave. Upon seeing the snake slither back into the gravesite Aeneas claims, is the serpent the
genius of the place? Or [my] father s familiar spirit (5.114 15). Amy Rose claims that the snake which
appeared is the genius of the place and not Anchises spirit. The word genius does not mean intelligent,
rather it means the loci or famulus parentis. Amy Rose extends the claim of famulus parentis by
stating that the snake s appearance is depicted in a very ritualistic manner. Therefore, the snake can be
seen as a protector of the family and as a manifestation of certain gods (Rose). Importantly, the snake
described in this simile is different from the snake described in book two. In book five Virgil employs
the snakes differently, rather than the snakes being depicted as hostile and ready to attack, as they are
in book two, they are depicted as passive, welcoming, and protecting creatures. Amy Rose claims that
these stark differences depict Aeneas change of fortune because in book two Aeneas and the Trojans
were facing a hostile snake which destroyed their homes and conquered Troy. However, now Aeneas
and the Trojans are met with a passive snake which symbolizes

The Day After Roswell By Philip J. Corso
No child had such an oversized balloon shaped head. It didn t even look human, although it had
human like features (18). This is a description of an extraterrestrial from the Roswell incident in the
book The Day After Roswell written by Col. Philip J. Corso (Ret.) with WIlliam J. Birnes. This book
is quite the interesting read to say the least. Extraterrestrials, flying saucers, and foreign technology
are some of the complications in Corso s autobiography during his time in military intelligence
working at The Pentagon. Corso describes everything between the events of a flying saucer crash that
occurred in Roswell, NM. on July 4, 1947 to the modern day technology that the United States has
managed to reverse engineer due to the crash. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was head of the project. Corso was diving much deeper than just the surface of a U.F.O. conspiracy
theory. If anyone s story should be believed it should be Corso s. It is easy to dismiss many of the
eyewitness reports, as after a while everyone was an eyewitness just to get some fame. Corso actually
worked on the project in The Pentagon. Many people believe this story is too outlandish to believe.
This is the strategy that The Foreign Technology Desk decided to go for. Between the time of the
Roswell crash and the beginning of The Foreign Technology Desk, the Air Force had branched off
from the Army, taking artifacts with it. This added another layer to difficulty to keeping the story
secret. At first, the military blew off the Roswell crash as a weather balloon and threatened majority of
the eye witnesses. This had kept them quiet for a while but people eventually talk. The military
decided to stop covering it up and would leak little bits of information to people who would make
something out of it. Corso states, This was called camouflage with limited exposure (85). This was in
order to make the talking witnesses to look like nut jobs. If they denied it like it was nothing, then the
media thought it was nothing. Eventually tabloids would buy the stories and then the credibility was
lost. This built an alien

History of Hubble
American astronomer Lyman Spitzer began to lobby for a space based instrument in 1946, and a little
more than two decades later, NASA started designing the Large Space Telescope. (It was named after
famous astronomer Edwin Hubble in 1983.)
Hubble was funded in the 1970s, with a proposed launch in 1983, but the project was beset by
technical delays, budget problems, and the Challenger disaster (1986).
The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was funded in the 1970s, with a proposed launch in 1983, but like
many projects the Hubble was slowed by technical delays, budget issues and the Challenger accident
(1986).
HST was placed into orbit by the Discovery shuttle on April 25, 1990, and started sending images on
May 20, 1990. On June 26, NASA announced that the telescope suffered from spherical aberration.
The telescope was supposed to be able to focus 70 percent of a start s light, but the mirror was only
able to focus 10 to 15 percent.

Essay on Bio Warfare
Biological warfare is war waged with deadly chemicals, biological agents, or radioactive materials
(CBR). They can be used to kill large amounts of people, destroy food, or just temporarily stun them
for a matter of time so troops can come in and torture them or do whatever troops led by an
manipulative tyrant who destroys everything. Using CBR, allowed you to kill everything and leave the
buildings standing instead of nuclear weapons which destroy everything, put fallout in the air, and
have radioactive materials wash into the ground and streams. Using deadly chemicals in war has been
going on since the early 1900 s during World War I (1914 1918). Chemicals such as tear gas, chlorine
gas, phosgene, and mustard gas. The first 3 are things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Hague Conference of 1899 made an attempt to outlaw projectiles carrying poison gases; the
agreement to this effect lasted only until W.W.I. In Geneva in 1925 a League of Nations protocol
against chemical and biological war was signed; it was not, however, ratified by the United States
until 1975. The treaty outlaws the first use of such weapons in warfare, but nations generally reserve
the right to use them in retaliation. Agreements totally banning chemical warfare have proved difficult
to achieve. A treaty totally banning biological warfare was drawn up by the Geneva Disarmament
Conference in 1971 and approved by the United Nations General Assembly. Some 80 nations signed
the Biological Weapons Convention, which the United States ratified in 1974. This treaty is unique
because it outlaws a whole class of weapons by most of the world. Its effectiveness, however, is still
questionable; progress in genetic engineering has also complicated this issue. At the Bush Gorbachev
summit in June 1990, a treaty was signed providing for both the United States and USSR to reduce
stockpiles of chemical weapons. In May 1991, 19 industrial nations including the United States
commited to adopt controls on the export of 50 common chemicals used to manufacture these
weapons. Anthrax is a contagious disease of warm blooded animals, including humans, caused by the

This is also to avoid having to change the design during construction resulting in delays and increased
costs. For this project a ground investigation survey was carried out between 10 June and 26 July. This
involved the excavation mechanically and by hand of trial pits and the drilling of exploratory holes.
Selected samples from the tests were collected to assess the presence of contamination and
geotechnical characteristics. Based on the ground investigation, potential for significant contamination
is considered low due to a lack of mobile contaminants that could potentially be released to the
environment. In addition the assessment carried out to find if groundwater, and surface water features
would not significant effect on soils or geology. (Highway agency 2015). Geotechnical design for

contaminated zones from one another. Interlocking piles are driven into the ground through the
unsaturated zone and the aquifer down into consolidated zone. The piles remaining above ground are
cut off after driving the barrier into the consolidated material. Fine granulated soil particles fill up the
gaps between the steel sheets. The weight of a building is transmitted to the ground through its
foundation when it is being constructed and this added stress to the underlying strata. The stresses
added can cause

Wind Change In Black Saturday
When considering what results in a higher magnitude bushfire, it is also important to consider the
longer term events leading up to the disaster. Figure 11 illustrates that the weather events that occurred
before leading up to Black Saturday can be strongly linked to the large amount of destruction caused.
From both figures, it can be noted that a wind change affected the path and development of fires. In
the case of Black Saturday, this extended the fire front, increasing the magnitude of the disaster. It is
believed that the wind change of the Crib Point fire helped to prevent a large amount of destruction in
some areas, while causing it some in others. With this being said, the wind change in Crib point
prevented it from advancing so quickly,

The Disagreement: Lenora and Joshua
When you are in a relationship, arguments or disagreements can arise. They can often trigger strong
emotions that lead to hurtful words and uneasiness. If these conflicts are not resolved in a healthy way,
resentment and a dissolved relationship could follow. However, when they are resolved in a proper
manner, it could promote growth between the couple and fortify the bonds of their relationship
(Conflict Resolution Skills).
In the case between Lenora and Joshua, they are having a disagreement about Lenora returning to the
workforce, now, when Christa is only 3 months old instead of waiting until Christa is 5 years old. To
handle this situation properly, there are ten guidelines that can assist ... Show more content on

Joshua must understand that Christa s needs are not just Lenora s responsibility. His participation is
detrimental towards the development of their child.
Guideline 4: Avoid Mixed, of Double Messages
Leonora needs to mitigate criticizing Joshua on how his income doesn t cover the monthly expenses.
She should demonstrate that if she returned to work, the financial burden would be reduced.
Joshua s perspective on day care should be emphasized because it will produce an unnecessary
expense. Furthermore, a large part of their income would result in the consumption of day care.
Guideline 5: When You Can, Choose the Time and Place Carefully
Lenora and Joshua should set time aside to discuss their conflict instead of randomly arguing over the
same issues. By doing this, it gives each other time to put thoughts together instead of saying
something that they don t mean or is derogatory.
Guideline 6: Address a Specific Issue, Ask for a Specific Change, and Be Open to Compromise
Lenora needs to express her desire to go back to work because it will benefit both Christa and the
family. But at the same time, Lenora should consider the affect it will have on her when she goes back
to work. Maybe the solution could be to compromise with Joshua, to stay at home for one more year,
to nurture Christa.
Joshua should sympathize with her desire to go back to work for the positive effects it will have on the
family s welfare. He should analyze the

Critical Analysis Of Kate Chopin s The Awakening
The Awakening Critical Essay The novel The Awakening by Kate Chopin contains content that is
highly debatable and easily controversial. In the essay Chopin s The Awakening by Roger Platizky, the
author interpreted from the novel that the depression of Edna Pontellier, the main feminine lead, is
created not only from the male oppression of the time period, but is also derived from the idea that
Edna is affected by a previous encounter with sexual violence, either as a witness or a victim. While
there is some way to infer that this is true, it is not confirmed and is quite a reach, considering her life
now and willingness with men. The reason that some readers believe this is due to her mood changes,
boundary problems and suicide (Platizky, Roger). If Edna was a victim or witness to sexual violence,
she would be even more submissive and fragile as a character. This theory is untrue, however, because
throughout the novel Edna Pontellier displays a growing strength that is presented to the men in her
life and finally gains her the independence she has been desiring, even if it isn t in the most
predictable way. In the essay, Chopin s The Awakening, Platizky writes that while one could argue she
was just shy or introverted, Edna s sweeping passions later in the novel suggest the introversion may
have been imposed. (Platizky, Roger). While this is true that Edna has sweeping passions later in the
novel, it is not correlated to Edna wanting to block something from her memory, such as sexual
violence. While someone could insist that Edna s mood swings are suggesting the protagonist is trying
to block something more than just her realization that she is unhappy in her present marriage
(Platizky), that information is extremely faulty. Instead, Edna s mood swings deal with the oppression
of the patriarchal society that women were thrown into during this time period. Each woman was
supposed to lack individuality and obey the men, especially in the Creole Catholic society. Edna s lack
of cooperation towards this norm shows up often in The Awakening.
She could not at that moment have done other than denied and resisted. She wondered if her husband
had ever spoken to her like that before, and is she has submitted

Contingency Planning Essay
News stations cover various disasters every single day. Sitting behind the screen, people effortlessly
deceive themselves into thinking that they will not face similar situations. However the reality is that
not only are everyone potential victims of such scenarios, but they are also liable to the aftermath of
the incident and its ripple effects. Acknowledging the possibility of experiencing a disaster is the first
step towards effective recovery and responsiveness. The next step is to formulate a response system to
various disaster scenarios and test it out. During the formulation of a plan, the disaster scenarios and
objectives need to be agreed upon while concurrently managerial and technical actions are thoroughly
defined (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 2007, p. 68). Evidently, there
are costs associated with developing a contingency plan which in the short term may appear
unnecessary; nevertheless as a response to the increasing number of disasters, contingency planning is
essential to scheme to allow an organization to swiftly return to its operations while avoiding
superfluous costs and minimizing casualties as a result of the increase in the overall effectiveness of
response to an emergency or critical situation.
The need for contingency planning primarily roots from the trend of exponential increase in the
number of disasters. The World Disaster Report (2004) concluded that:
Over the past decade, the number of natural and

Children Should Spend Watching Television
Animated cartoons, or motion pictures using animated techniques to display sequential drawings, have
been a popular form of entertainment since the early eighteenth century. From the 1920 s to the 1960 s
was a time marked as the golden age of cartooning. Years after that would provide a special time slot
that had kids waiting in anticipation for the weekends, a term known as Saturday Morning Cartoons.
Research conducted within the last decade has concluded that children spend significantly more time
watching television than they do learning in classrooms. The sociological textbook, Sociology the
Essentials, states The average person consumes some form of media sixty nine hours per week more
time than they likely spend in school or at work; thirty three of these hours are spent watching
television (Andersen 42). The majority of targeted adolescent television shows are animated. Although
the statistics may be high, the thirty three hours spent on television could be spent learning instead of
neglecting education. Cartoons are chalk full of lessons on vocabulary, speech, mathematics, and
science. Reaching out to a young demographic during their scholastic career with a comfortable form
of media can be everlastingly beneficial. Ultimately cartoons helpfully assist in the overall
development of adolescence.
Television networks, such as PBS and Nickelodeon, that are directed towards the attention of children
play an essential role in teaching kids about foreign languages. In

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Essay
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or crib death is an abrupt and inexplicable death of an
apparently healthy infant. Most of the cases involve infants from ages 1 12 months, and the event
occurs during the night. Various theories have been postulated from research results but without
consistency of the etiology. Since the death is sudden, prior diagnostic criteria or patterns are not
available for correlation, although some near miss infants have been followed. A number of
possibilities have been documented in current literature, to include beta endorphin changes, abnormal

Corresponding upper motor neuron innervation for the aforementioned motor component are also
involved. The second and third parts encompass the mechanoreceptor system, which responds to
stretch and irritants to regulate the rate and volume of respiration, and the chemoreceptor system.
In the motor part of the anatomical structure, Quattrochi et. al., 1985, studied the effects of brainstem
immaturity; specifically, spine density in specific brainstem regions. Significant differences in spine
density were seen between the n. ambiguous, n. solitaries, and reticular/non reticular formation areas
within the SIDS brainstem. This suggests that this asynchronous structural development could exert
significant effects on integrative neuronal activity and result in a functional imbalance between
brainstem regions concerned with the automatic control of respiration. Evidence further suggests that
inherent stress placed upon an immature sleep respiratory system during post natal development, due
to upper respiratory infections, periods of apnea, or intrinsic maturation of sleep states, could
precipitate a sudden respiratory crisis during sleep in a vulnerable infant unable to modulate a
successful adaptation to such stresses.
Another focus of research is the changes of the carotid bodies of SID victims. Cole et. al., 1979, from
the University of Connecticut, using light and electron microscopy, observed the changes of carotid

Similarities And Differences Of Exemplary Citizens
Exemplary Citizens
What does being a good citizen exactly mean? There are many factors that will affect if someone is
viewed as a one. Being considered a good citizen will depend on the country as every country is
unique and sees some aspects differently compared to others. The United States of America and China
share similarities and differences through their preamble, constitution, and citizenship. Similarly, these
countries use their preamble to create a broad proposal of what a good citizen is. Both serve as a guide
for what will be discussed in their constitution as well. In addition to this each preamble has a part that
explains where consent is derived from. Comparably they both proclaim that the power comes from
the people. The United States express the We the People of the United States statement, whereas
China claims that All power in the People s Republic of China belongs to the people. These words are
proof to both countries claim to be a democracy. A functioning democracy is the form of government
that provides its citizens with lots of freedom, opportunity, and prosperity. Although there are several
similarities, differences can be found in the format or structure of the preambles. The United States
preamble is significantly smaller compared to China s. In general, the United States prefers the
succinct version as it allows the reader to remember more and/or grasp the main concept. Unlike the

The Best Kind of Sex Education
There is much controversy over which form of sex education should be taught, comprehensive sex
education, or abstinence only sex education. The definition for comprehensive sex education is
responsible and balanced sexuality education that seeks to assist young people in understanding a
positive view of sexuality, provide them with information and skills about caring for their sexual
health, and help them acquire skills to make decisions now and in the future. It is medically accurate
and provides information about abstinence and contraceptives as tools to prevent unintended
pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. On the other hand, abstinence only sex education is a
form of sex education that teaches abstinence from sex. This type of sex education promotes sexual
abstinence until marriage and avoids discussion of use of contraceptives. Comprehensive sex
education goes against some family morals and encourages teenagers to have sex. But abstinence only
sex education does not teach students enough about sex or how to protect themselves from STDs and
pregnancy. Comprehensive sex education should be mandatory in all of our nation s schools.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, sex education was strongly effected by Victorian values. Sex
education at that time taught that sexually transmitted diseases were the result of punishment for
immoral behaviors. The discussion over what to teach children about sex in school occurred as early
as 1912. In the 1950 s the

Military Prostitution During Japan s Imperial Rule
Many historians have addressed the issue of military prostitution during Japan s imperial rule and the
United States role in it during their reign. For roughly 50 years comfort women were the silent victims
of war. During the 1990 s and 2000 s many Korean comfort women came into the lime light by
opening up about their experiences in the comfort system. The Feminist Studies journal published Na
Young Lee s scholarly work, The Construction of Military Prostitution in South Korea during the U.S.
Military Rule, 1945 1948 , in which the author argues the view held by Korean feminist NGO s in
light to the Untied States responsibility for the eradication of the prostitution system is exaggerated. In

Lee outlines many of the laws implemented by the U.S. government in relation to prostitution and
disease control. In addition, the author adds the serious problem that the U.S. government faced in
regards to STD contraction and the failure to suppress prostitution. Instead, the U.S. government with
the support from Korean elites, took the initiative to control their dilemma. The belief that prostitution
should be abolished lied widely on the shared thought that it was a remnant of the premodern,
patriarchal rule in which the Korean people had escaped from. In addition to this belief, the
abolishment of prostitution would also make advancement for a democratized, civilized, and
independent society. In response to the added pressure of these beliefs, the U.S. Military government
and the South Korean Interim Legislative Assembly passed the Abolishment of Public Prostitution
Law. However, this law only abolished licensed prostitution, not private. The privatization of
prostitution opened a gateway of new problems faced by the U.S. military. With the increase in
population and the dislocation of many workers a lot of women turned to private prostitution. The
U.S. government established The Women s Bureau under the Department of Public Health and
Welfare, in which, they were to take charge of the Japanese imperial policies in regards to prostitution
but also the the post abolition allocations. Lee states, in

The Contrasting Development of Democratic and...
Two states, developing as either a democratic or authoritarian regime, could be expected to undergo
different paths over the course of fifty years. While this opportunity of observational research is
unlikely to occur, it presents itself to analysis implementing secured theories regarding the tendencies
of both forms of government. A democratic regime, defined by popular sovereignty and political
equality, deeply contrasts the inequality and singular rule synonymous with authoritarianism. The
differences in the two states would be most notable in regard to tendencies regarding international
relations, economic development, as well as the level of internal stability resulting from the decisions
made by political leader. The dissimilarities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is likely that the authoritarian country would be less developed economically because of effects
stemming from inefficiency in the provision of public goods. As opposed to democracies, more apt to
proficiency in this realm, authoritarian rulers may avoid providing sufficient goods in order to prevent
overthrow. Public goods, in adequate supply, have a tendency to promote economic growth. While this
growth would be looked upon in a positive light by democratic regimes, as the positive benefits of
increased wealth act to reduce economic polarization on course to the decreased presence of
redistributive conflicts, an authoritarian ruler would view the provision of these goods in sufficient
quantity as a resource to fuel proletariat uprising (122). The tendencies regarding public goods would
leave the authoritarian state incapable of reaching the economic vitality of the democratic state, which,
in asserting the stimulant of institutional stability, has further provided an environment welcoming to
innovation and development (125). Following fifty years of development, the authoritarian and
democratic states would be expected to show separation in their experiences with internal stability.
Authoritarian regimes are characterized by their ability to deliver basic human necessities.
Independent and democratic countries, for example, are set apart by their notable ability to avoid
famine. While these occurrences are common in authoritarian

Rhetoric Of Pericles Funeral Oration
Pericles Funeral Oration Analysis Pericles, as we know, was an exceeding leader and statesmen for
most of Athen s reign during the 5th century B.C.E. He was an extremely successful man, and well
rounded in many aspects of Athenian leadership. He wasn t just a statesman for Athens, he was a
persuasive politician, glorified military leader, and filled with boastful patriotism towards Athens. It
was common ritual for speeches to be given to the survived families of the fallen after war, but
Pericles take on the speech was a little different than the ordinary. Pericles focused greatly on the
significance of a democratic government. His goal was to raise the spirits of the fallen soldiers
families , and build patriotism in their hearts to get them motivated to fight for their freedom in
Athens. Pericles was a very persuasive speaker, and his Funeral Oration speech was indeed successful
in its mission: convince the people that the fallen soldiers shouldn t be mourned, but rather raise their
patriotism and to follow in the footsteps of the fallen, and to fight for their honor, freedom, and
democracy as a whole. Pericles speech was not a lie, but rather a persuasive and manipulative speech
to capture the fallen spirits during a tough time of war. The speech wins the people in the crowd over
with a sense of pride over Athens. Their democratic republic was a unique government for their time,
and Pericles takes advantage of his words by proclaiming, Our constitution does not copy the laws of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Recycling Plastic
Introduction
Plastic in its various forms is the most useful but cheap invention that mankind has ever made .
Having widespread applications from industries to minute household stuff, its utility cannot be
expressed in a few sentences.
But, at the same time, plastics possess a property which makes nature quite vulnerable to their misuse.
This property namely is NON BIODEGRADABILITY. By closely observing the structure of plastic,
we come to know that plastic is made of extremely strong carbon carbon bonds, which cannot be
easily broken down into small units by any natural processes. This property of non biodegradability
poses a serious threat to the environment.
So what is the solution to this problem? This problem has a simple, yet effective ... Show more content

* It has a better Particle compression ratio of 3/1 to 5/1.[6]
* Most importantly, this works on the principle of continuous compressions, wherein plastics are not
physically damaged due to plastic s less deformable nature. This can be explained with the data [6]
that fracture point in the stress strain graph for plastic material such as Polypropylene may be as high
as 80 Mpa, whereas that of organic material such as wood is 40 Mpa. Other organic things are easier
to break. So, if we apply a stress between these two critical pressures we can break the organic matter
keeping the plastic intact. The exact value should be optimised experimentally.

Fig.(a ) Animation and (b) Details of Jaw Crusher[2]
Only organic wastes entering the jaw crusher are crushed into finer particles. Plastics remain intact.
This will help in better biodegradation of the organic wastes as it will increase the surface area of the
particles so that microbes can attack the organic wastes easily.
Biodegradation of organic wastes
Different microorganisms transform the organic compounds into simpler compounds ultimately
releasing CO2, CH4, water as the main products, reducing the volume and weight of the organic
wastes and increasing proportion of plastic in waste, making the separation of plastic

Examples Of Archetypes In Finding Nemo
Do you like animated films? Well, Finding Nemo is the ninth most grossed animated film of all time.
Finding Nemo accomplishes this by being a light hearted, adventure, comedy. Finding Nemo was an
adventure and comedy film, that taught the world the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and
cooperation in everyday life. Archetypes are used in many films, movies, and/or books to help both
enhance and advance the audience s understanding of the story, whether it be through character,
symbolic, or situational archetypes. Finding Nemo uses character archetypes to help advance the
understanding of the movie by providing the audience with a better and deeper understanding of the

Have you ever thought of bald eagles not being around anymore in this century? Some people must ve

Maybe the everyday things they were doing were harming the poor birds? The first way, people
noticed the everyday things is that the government banned DDT, the pesticide that was used to kill
insects, was killing the eagles food chain. For example, in the first passage in paragraph 4, it says that
while it did kill pests, DDT also got into the food chain and eagles ate contaminated fish and other

The Case Of Epperson V. Arkansas
In the wake of the Scopes trial in Tennessee, the State of Arkansas passed an anti evolution statute in
1928, that made it illegal to teach the theory or doctrine that mankind ascended or descended from a
lower order of animals, or to adopt or use in any such institution a textbook that teaches the doctrine
or theory that mankind ascended or descended from a lower order of animal. Forty years later, the case
of Epperson v. Arkansas (1968) was argued before the Supreme Court. The case originated in 1965,
when Susan Epperson was hired to teach 10th grade biology at Little Rock Central High School. The
local school board had recently adopted, as a part of an approved curriculum, a new biology textbook
that included a section on evolution. Immediately, Epperson recognised her dilemma; that to teach the
required curriculum would put her at risk for dismissal under the anti evolution statute. A suit was
filed to challenge the constitutionality of the statute, and the State Chancery Court of Pulaski County
ruled that the statute was unconstitutional. This ruling was overturned by the Arkansas Supreme Court
in 1967. Upon appeal, the U.S. Supreme Court held that: Arkansas law cannot be defended as an act of
religious neutrality. Arkansas did not seek to excise from the curricula of its schools and universities
all discussion of the origin of man. The law s effort was confined to an attempt to blot out a particular
theory because of its supposed conflict with the Biblical

Man Vs Nature in Yann Martel s Life of Pi Essay
Author Nancy Wynne Newhall once wrote The Wilderness holds answers to more questions than we
have yet learned to ask. To man, nature can be manipulated and overrun easily but it is not easily
destroyed permanently. In Life of Pi by Yann Martel, Pi convinces himself he has altered the beastly
nature of his tiger companion, Richard Parker, however, he fails to realize this as a misconception
until the certain events with Richard Parker that ultimately revealing that the savage nature within

Being more comfortable around such a beast, however, later proves to be a fault of Pi s. The
unpredictable behavior of such a wild animal causes a huge threat to Pi. Richard Parker exemplifies
this wild behavior by bursting over the ridge at full gallop...coming [Pi s] way high speed (Martel
263). Pi describes this event as a rapid and direct approach of a known killer which casts a different
image of Richard Parker than the previous seemingly harmless companion (Martel 236). Pi s reaction
to his fear is using his method of whistle which causes more anger within Richard Parker. Richard
Parker s unexpected reaction to the training method proves how capricious a personality of an animal
is. Thus, attempted taming of a wild animal was merely a distant goal Pi thought he had accomplished.
The violent outbreak of Richard Parker, along with his silent departure at the end of the novel,
portrays how futile it is to try to change a wild animal into a civilized being. Richard Parker seems, at
first, to have experienced a spiritual breakthrough and transformation after Pi s attempt to training.
Even in the end, Pi s ability to survive such a journey with a beastly killer seems evidence enough that
Pi trained the tiger. Pi s main goal, along with survival, is to establish a level of equality between

as though there is no racism. This create an environment where players hated each others at the start
yet when they start to comprehend each other, they become friends. Coah Boone s daughter denies
others dignity when Bill Yoast s daughter invited her to play basketball with her. By doing this, she is
causing hatred and unfriendly environment with Bill Yoast s daughter in which can lead to racism

Throughout the movie of Remember the Titans, the director portray a theme about friendship. He
reveals how with friendship, every person can overcome their strongest struggles like segregation and
racism at the time. In order to build friendship, one must get to know another similar to how the
African Americans and the Americans players get to know each other at the camp and at the games
that they played. For example, Gerry and Julius are strongly against each other at the beginning of the
movie yet when they play with each other, they understand each other better and found that they can
actually be friend and trusted each other in their actions. Moreover, the team also demonstrate a theme
of friendship due to the fact that

Cause Of Government Failure
Government failures is said to be the loss resulting from government intervention in the marketplace.
The failure is an outcome of policies that are used to regulate trade which create systemic
inefficiencies and economic costs that adversely affect a product s manufacture and sales. It is
basically is an economic concept, similar to market failure, but it is more damaging. Government
failure occurs when a ruler forces people to do things that the people are otherwise unwilling to do and
the results are inefficient and ineffective for the society.

8 Tragedy of the Commons
Anything owned by the government has a tendency to be overused and under serviced. Private
ownership will protect the asset better and will manage its use better. And hence, it will cause a huge
government failure.
9 Legislation Process
Another major cause of government failure is the legislative process itself, since it allows legislators
to insert preferential items into large complex bills where other representatives are forced to either
vote for or against the bill as a whole. Legislators cannot approve the bill without also approving the
line items, so if the overall bill is desirable, then legislators will probably approve the bill in spite of
the objectionable line items.
10 Corruption:
In most of the developing countries, either the govt. or the officials of government tried to corrupt
with the society and hence prove the inequality between other people. This cause the government
failure and the society fairness vanish away.

Taking a Look at the Spiritual Warfare
the Spiritual warfare
Spiritual warfare is not a theory. Spiritual warfare is not a rote. Spiritual warfare is not just to simply

Savior.
Ephesians 6: 12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the
powers of this dark world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The enemy we face is not a man but a demon with all his minions. Who is actually the devil and his
friends? They are a third of the angels with the boss named Lucifer who has been a rebellion in
heaven, therefore they were expelled from Heaven and wander in this world while waiting for the

there is always a battle in everyday life. Since you became a follower of Christ, the devil will make

Premarital cohabitation has become immensely popular with the younger generations. In 1970 there
were 500,000 cohabitating couples and in 2000 there were 7.5 million and that number is rapidly
growing (Kunz, 2012). Statistics show that nearly two thirds of Americans will most likely cohabitate
with a relationship partner before marriage (Gordon, 2012). Some researchers relate this to the rising
divorce rate in America, coming in at nearly 50 percent of marriages, to cohabitation before marriage.
This concept is called the cohabitation effect. A couple cohabitating before marriage is automatically
associated with a higher risk for divorce. Although there have been studies denying these claims that
cohabitating before marriage has a little effect on marriage stability, they have their exceptions.
Kunz (2012) states that the cohabitation effect isn t as prominent as researchers originally thought. Its
been shown that when a couple cohabitates before marriage, with the intent to marry in the future,
they have equal experiences as a couple who did not cohabitate before marriage. The marriage
stability and health of the couple did not differ. Here s where the studies and statistics that prove
higher divorce rates and poor health come in. These conditions are found in couples who cohabitate
before marriage with no intent to become married in the future. These types of cohabitating

Lord Of The Flies Rhetorical Analysis
Many people in this world is civilized from rules the government has created. Without these rules it
would be like a barbaric world where everyone has to find their own food for survival. When people
had the idea of a making rules to follow it started a society that needs rules to be followed in order to
get anything done. With the creation of rules people can get more things done with structure of rules.
Without these rules everyone will act more savage than the normal person acts today. In Lord of the
Flies, William Golding uses the conflict to show that Ralph is civilized, and that Jack is showing signs
of savagery. Ralph being civilized could help him be more alarmed about what goes around him and
make better decisions faster. When Ralph was voted leader he wanted first to make rules for everyone
on the island to follow. Making rules and choosing a leader like a government is being more civilized
compared to just hunting for meat. Rules is a great way to start of being leader of a group of young
kids. When everyone was talking at once he thought of the rule. The rule was, I ll give the conch to the
next person to speak he can hold it when he is speaking (Golding 33). This rule also said that only
Ralph could interrupt because he was the chief. By Ralph setting these rules it shows a governmental
state which is more civilized. In some countries, like the U.S.A., the people are allowed to vote for
their leader. Ralph voluntarily said, Seems to me we ought to have

While requiring more labour to dig up the tubers from below the ground, the potato more than made

RESEARCH ESSAY Cases under the law of mistake can be divided into common, mutual and
unilateral mistake; however this discussion is based on unilateral mistake, as Stephen Graw said:
Operative unilateral mistake occurs when only one party in the contract is mistaken, the other party is
or should be aware of that mistake and yet he purports to proceed with the agreement anyway. Cases
under unilateral mistake can be divided into three categories: Firstly mistaken identity, secondly
mistake as to the terms of a contract and thirdly mistake as to the nature of a document signed. The
main focus in this discussion is mistaken identity, where one party is mistaken as to the identity of
another. Mistaken identity may happen in two different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In King s Norton Metal Co v Edridge, Merret amp; Co Ltd, it was held that there was a contract
between King s Norton and Wallis, for the simple reason that there was no such entity called Hallam
amp; Co, and hence good title passed from King s Norton to the rogue, and later to the defendant; and
thus the defendants were therefore not liable to pay back the goods or its value to King s Norton.
Therefore the effect of unilateral mistake is that it will make a contract void or voidable, and hence to
identify which one of the two parties has the right to the title of the goods. It has been said that if a
party makes a mistake as to the identity of the person he is contracting with then there is no contract,
or if there is a contract then it is void such that no property can transfer under it. The legal principle
prior to Phillips v Brooks is that depending on the facts, if the court s decision is that the contract is
void for mistake then the mistaken party still has the right to the title of the goods as it was seen in
Cundy v Lindsay, or the mistaken party will have no legal obligation to pay for the goods as it was
seen in Boulton v Jones. However, if the contract is just voidable then the good title goes to

The Landlady The Sweet Old Lady Sparknotes
Dahl presents scary or creepy moments in his writing by having odd characters, creepy events, and
evil mysterious ending. Dahl always has odd, mysterious moments in his writing to scare the reader
and to persuade them to keep reading by having a climax that you would think was answered or
solved but the author leaves the reader hanging at the end. Also, the author turns the reader to become
more aware and skeptical. The odd characters in the passages brews up mysterious events to occur.
Dahl s writing persuades readers that the characters are very sweet and then once they start doing
creepy things, then they will suddenly become evil in a blink of an eye. For example, in The Landlady
the sweet old lady is very welcoming and states that no one is here and he is welcome to stay, and
when he rang the doorbell she was right there almost like she was expecting him. And later on in the
story, he saw on the sign in sheet that there were two young men here from a couple years ago but no
one has been here since. And then she said that they are on the third floor, and then Dahl does a plot
twist and the sweet old lady states that no one is here. Also, The Landlady states that, ... Show more

The sweet old lady was very welcoming and gave the young man tea, but he knew that it tasted funny
so he stopped drinking it. And Dahl s writing includes simple creepy events in the story like that to
make the reader become more skeptical and want to continue reading. For example The Landlady
states in the passage that the sweet old lady said, No, my dear, she said. Only you . This doesn t seem
like such an important quote, but in the story, it shows that it is. He went from just wanting to find a
nice cheap hotel that s safe, to worrying about what could possibly happen to him eventually. Dahl
writes creepy events to help make the reader more adventurous and want to keep

Analysis Of Rafael Alcides Nadie At The Woodland Theater
I went to the showing of Nadie at the Woodland Theater. This film was apart of the Latin American
Studies week at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. This film was a documentary about Rafael
Alcides, a poet from Cuba. This film was mostly an interview with Alcides, who talked about his life
and living through the Cuban Revolution. This in depth interview ranges from the struggle of how
Alcides, a once famous person, is now nadie or nobody. Alcides is currently in the process of trying to
save his work as most of his writing is written in fading ink. Additionally, his interview discusses at
length about how he views the revolution like an old girlfriend . After Fidel Castro died, he and many
others realized their lifelong fight was for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason this film was able to do that is through the way that director Miguel Coyula was able
manipulate so many of the images within his shots to fit the interview and add emphasis to the words
of Alcides. I have not studied Cuba s history much, so I found this film to be incredibly informative. I
loved Rafael Alcides s story! This film was a very abstract form of art that was a little difficult to
process. I am still trying to grasp it all, but overall I found that this film accomplished everything that
it set out to do. The best part of going to this event was being able to stay for the Q A session
following the movie with director Miguel Coyula. I learned a lot more about how Coyula was able to
manipulate his shots and animate certain portions of the film. Coyula also explained that this film is
heavily censored in Cuba. In fact, he told us that he is banned from showing his film in Cuba. This
film was also rejected by the Miami Film Festival because of their being so many Cubans who could
see it and by Michael Moore and his Detroit Film Festival because of the negative messages about
Cuba this film might send. To sum up the whole event, I am so happy that I was able to attend this
showing; I learned a lot about Cuba, the Cuban Revolution, and the devastation that many Cubans feel
after the failure of the

What Qualities Make Sister Helen Prejean Such A Helpful...
1. What character qualities make Sister Helen Prejean such a helpful spiritual advisor? Sister Helen
Prejean possessed many qualities that presented her as a helpful spiritual advisor. Although she was
new to the idea of working with a convict, she was able to look past Matthew s conviction and past
and lead him to learn and seek God in the days leading up to his death. This makes Sister Helen
forgiving and that is a vital quality to possess as a spiritual advisor. Sister Helen was against capital
punishment for the reason being that you can not solve murder by murdering as it will not provide
justice. Sister Helen was able to recognize even the deadliest man as a son of God and that deserved to
be loved equally. She did not turn a blind eye to anyone, even the ones that many claimed did not
deserve it. She helped Matthew recognize God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The New Testament call us to protect life, practice mercy, and reject vengeance. For this reason, the
death penalty is a form of hatred and bitterness because it denies mercy and forgiveness for the
prisoners. As Sister Helen stated in the movie, how can you solve murder by murdering? The
governments that enforce the death penalty, violate the international human rights laws in a way that is
hypocritical. The law states that it is illegal to kill, meanwhile, they do the opposite of what they are
enforcing in the country. This clearly shows the cynicism that the death penalty consists of for by
standers and victims. A well known quote an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind shows
how bitter and cynical the death penalty really is. Violence cannot be fought with more violence.
Justice is important, but so is mercy and compassion. No person should be denied forgiveness and
assistance to turn from his

The Human Rights Campaign Defines Sexual Orientation
The Human Rights Campaign defines sexual orientation as An inherent or immutable enduring
emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people . This is a very hot topic these days as about 3
10% of the population identifies as homosexual or any sexual orientation other than heterosexual.
According to said Sandra F. Witelson, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences at
McMaster University in Ontario: research is pointing to basic differences in the brain between
homosexual and heterosexual people that are likely there right from the beginning...These could be
reflecting some genetic or hormonal factors that predetermine your sexual orientation (Stein). There s
been a history of jumping to conclusions and overinterpreting findings in this field. says William
Byne, a professor of psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York (Stein).
History Scientists have no idea on what it meant to be gay 10,000 years ago but we have some idea
what it meant 200 years ago says geneticist Sven Blocklandt of the David Geffen School of Medicine
at UCLA (Abrams). The terms homosexual and homosexuality were first coined in a political
disquisition in 1869 by Hungarian journalist Ka´roli Ma´ria Kertbeny (Drescher). In the early 20th
century, most regarded homosexuality as pathological or as a disease and by the mid 20th century,
many psychiatrists, psychologists, and physicians were trying to cure homosexuality. In 1952, DSM I

Research Paper On Titanic
Famous Ships that Sank Did you know that only 36.1% of people on board, passengers and

Disaster. When ships sink,it can change lives and is a very sad tragedy. Here in this paper you ll learn
about what happened to 3 different ships,The Titanic,Le Joola, and the Mont Blanc. Now this
paragraph will tell you what happened to the Titanic.A ship called the Titanic was built on May
31,1911 and set off on it s voyage on April 10,1912.With everyone on board,it departed from South
Hampton with over 2000 people hoping to get to America.Sadly, the large ship was only 400 miles
from land when it hit an iceberg.Inside the vessel, the crew got 6 ice warnings before impact. While
everyone on board was panicking, the ship was sinking,in fact it took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink.It

exist in a nightmare. After the Titanic the world was shaken,in fact it was almost how the country
reacted to 9/11.Only 706 out of 2208 on board survived. What is sad to think about is that 53.4% more

Is Teacher Tenure Worth Keeping
According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ranking, the United States
of America is considered mediocre in its educational performance. In a competitive world where
average is just not adequate for the well being of a nation, experts have theorized that to improve the
country s education our schools need to revaluate different factors of the education system. Some have
even speculated these factors are the teacher s tenure. In fact, some claim tenure is the reason why the
United States education system quality is on its downward slope. In order for one to determine if the
country s education is suffering from tenure, one need to have a full understanding of its function and
how teachers use tenure. One would also need to know the benefits of this contract by understanding
how tenure relates to discrimination, academic freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of
association, and freedom of religion. However, one would also need to have knowledge of the cons of
teacher s tenure by analyzing how the dance of the lemon s policy and the reassignment centers do not
allow teachers to improve and how much tenure can cost the school districts. In order to distinguish if
the United States should allow a teacher to become subjects to tenure, one need to recognize the
purpose and how that purpose is applied to teachers with tenure. The intention of tenure is to provide
job security for teachers (Public Impact, 2011, p.3). For a teacher to earn the

Essay about P G Case Study
In this case of Procter and Gamble (P amp;G) and Wal Mart s partnership, the main issue seemed to be
caused by a third part company s collaboration with Wal Mart which interfered the healthy partnership
between P amp;G and Wal Mart, also threatened P amp;G s leading position in the diaper market. P
amp;G s diaper brand Pampers has been the industrial leader in the relevant segment for years. P
amp;G has been developing a long established partnership with Wal Mart based on a just in time
ordering and delivery system for disposable diapers featured with the electronic data interchange
system linking Wal Mart vendors with P amp;G factories. The result of this collaboration created a
win win situation which let Wal Mart reduced both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was clearly stated in the case that the products from those private label brands can be 20 percent, or
in some cases even 30 to 40 percent less than first tier national brands. No matter what strategies P
amp;G would use, it has to be related to a series of price adjustments to absorb the impact of the
entering of low priced private label product in this case, Wal Mart s private label diapers supplied by
Kimberly Clark. Although the case didn t provide any alternative solutions to the situation, in my
opinion there were two main options to resolve the problem. The first option is to lower the price of P
amp;G s diaper product to better compete with Wal Mart s private label. The second option is to
mainly maintain or slightly raise the price to establish P amp;G s diaper brand Pampers as a premium
brand in the segment.
As I mentioned before, when the concern came down to the price, it seems that it s inevitable for P
amp;G to reduce the price of their diapers in order to stay in the leading position of the segment.
Although P amp;G has all the rights and reasons to market Pampers as a premium brand with the high
quality diapers and the intimate community service and relationships they ve developed over years by
marketing campaigns. However the research data from Huggies Every Little Bottom Study Diaper
need in U.S. and Canada* shows that one fifth of the North American mothers are struggling to
provide diapers for their babies. It is obvious that affordability

  • 2. Examples Of Knowledge In Rappaccini s Daughter In society, especially in the time of the Enlightenment, pursuit of knowledge through the use of rationality and reason was thought of as every man s goal. Thus, innocence had negative connotations associated with it. When Romanticism began, thoughts associated with the Enlightenment were thrown upside down. Nathaniel Hawthorne shows in Rappaccini s Daughter, through the characters of Giovanni and Beatrice, how innocence is something to be valued. He shows how knowledge is a form of corruption and how its pursuit is responsible for the ruin of their characters. Giovanni is portrayed in the beginning of the story as completely innocent and unknowing. He knows little about this new place where he came to study, and he longs for his hometown. Baglioni s pursuit of knowledge also corrupted him. He becomes so preoccupied with bringing about Rappaccini s downfall that he himself descends to Rappaccini s level. He orchestrates the death of Beatrice just to pull ahead in his professional rivalry. The toxicity of the flowers in the garden is used as a metaphor for corruption or the lack of innocence. Hawthorne demonstrates how innocence is something that once taken, cannot ever be returned. Once Beatrice realizes the horrible truth, that she has been contaminated by the poison and transformed by her own father into such a terrible creature, she wants her innocence back. Amy Rose claims that the snake which appeared is the genius of the place and not Anchises spirit. The word genius does not mean intelligent, rather it means the loci or famulus parentis. Amy Rose extends the claim of famulus parentis by stating that the snake s appearance is depicted in a very ritualistic manner. Therefore, the snake can be seen as a protector of the family and as a manifestation of certain gods (Rose). Importantly, the snake described in this simile is different from the snake described in book two. In book five Virgil employs the snakes differently, rather than the snakes being depicted as hostile and ready to attack, as they are in book two, they are depicted as passive, welcoming, and protecting creatures. • 13. Critical Analysis Of Kate Chopin s The Awakening The Awakening Critical Essay The novel The Awakening by Kate Chopin contains content that is highly debatable and easily controversial. In the essay Chopin s The Awakening by Roger Platizky, the author interpreted from the novel that the depression of Edna Pontellier, the main feminine lead, is created not only from the male oppression of the time period, but is also derived from the idea that Edna is affected by a previous encounter with sexual violence, either as a witness or a victim. While there is some way to infer that this is true, it is not confirmed and is quite a reach, considering her life now and willingness with men. The reason that some readers believe this is due to her mood changes, boundary problems and suicide (Platizky, Roger). If Edna was a victim or witness to sexual violence, she would be even more submissive and fragile as a character. This theory is untrue, however, because throughout the novel Edna Pontellier displays a growing strength that is presented to the men in her life and finally gains her the independence she has been desiring, even if it isn t in the most predictable way. In the essay, Chopin s The Awakening, Platizky writes that while one could argue she was just shy or introverted, Edna s sweeping passions later in the novel suggest the introversion may have been imposed. (Platizky, Roger). While this is true that Edna has sweeping passions later in the novel, it is not correlated to Edna wanting to block something from her memory, such as sexual violence. While someone could insist that Edna s mood swings are suggesting the protagonist is trying to block something more than just her realization that she is unhappy in her present marriage (Platizky), that information is extremely faulty. Instead, Edna s mood swings deal with the oppression of the patriarchal society that women were thrown into during this time period. Each woman was supposed to lack individuality and obey the men, especially in the Creole Catholic society. Edna s lack of cooperation towards this norm shows up often in The Awakening. However the reality is that not only are everyone potential victims of such scenarios, but they are also liable to the aftermath of the incident and its ripple effects. Acknowledging the possibility of experiencing a disaster is the first step towards effective recovery and responsiveness. The next step is to formulate a response system to various disaster scenarios and test it out. During the formulation of a plan, the disaster scenarios and objectives need to be agreed upon while concurrently managerial and technical actions are thoroughly defined (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 2007, p. 68). Children Should Spend Watching Television Animated cartoons, or motion pictures using animated techniques to display sequential drawings, have been a popular form of entertainment since the early eighteenth century. From the 1920 s to the 1960 s was a time marked as the golden age of cartooning. Years after that would provide a special time slot that had kids waiting in anticipation for the weekends, a term known as Saturday Morning Cartoons. Research conducted within the last decade has concluded that children spend significantly more time watching television than they do learning in classrooms. The sociological textbook, Sociology the Essentials, states The average person consumes some form of media sixty nine hours per week more time than they likely spend in school or at work; thirty three of these hours are spent watching television (Andersen 42). The majority of targeted adolescent television shows are animated. Although the statistics may be high, the thirty three hours spent on television could be spent learning instead of neglecting education. He was an extremely successful man, and well rounded in many aspects of Athenian leadership. He wasn t just a statesman for Athens, he was a persuasive politician, glorified military leader, and filled with boastful patriotism towards Athens. It was common ritual for speeches to be given to the survived families of the fallen after war, but Pericles take on the speech was a little different than the ordinary. Pericles focused greatly on the significance of a democratic government. His goal was to raise the spirits of the fallen soldiers families , and build patriotism in their hearts to get them motivated to fight for their freedom in Athens. Pericles was a very persuasive speaker, and his Funeral Oration speech was indeed successful in its mission: convince the people that the fallen soldiers shouldn t be mourned, but rather raise their patriotism and to follow in the footsteps of the fallen, and to fight for their honor, freedom, and democracy as a whole. Pericles speech was not a lie, but rather a persuasive and manipulative speech to capture the fallen spirits during a tough time of war. The speech wins the people in the crowd over with a sense of pride over Athens. Their democratic republic was a unique government for their time, and Pericles takes advantage of his words by proclaiming, Our constitution does not copy the laws of neighbouring states; we are rather a pattern to others than imitators ourselves. This statement reminds the people of Athens that their community is different than the surrounding nations, and that they should be proud of where they have gotten. This can be explained with the data [6] that fracture point in the stress strain graph for plastic material such as Polypropylene may be as high as 80 Mpa, whereas that of organic material such as wood is 40 Mpa. Other organic things are easier to break. So, if we apply a stress between these two critical pressures we can break the organic matter keeping the plastic intact. The exact value should be optimised experimentally. (a) (b) Fig.(a ) Animation and (b) Details of Jaw Crusher[2] Only organic wastes entering the jaw crusher are crushed into finer particles. • 26. The Case Of Epperson V. Arkansas In the wake of the Scopes trial in Tennessee, the State of Arkansas passed an anti evolution statute in 1928, that made it illegal to teach the theory or doctrine that mankind ascended or descended from a lower order of animals, or to adopt or use in any such institution a textbook that teaches the doctrine or theory that mankind ascended or descended from a lower order of animal. Forty years later, the case of Epperson v. Arkansas (1968) was argued before the Supreme Court. The case originated in 1965, when Susan Epperson was hired to teach 10th grade biology at Little Rock Central High School. The local school board had recently adopted, as a part of an approved curriculum, a new biology textbook that included a section on evolution. Immediately, Epperson recognised her dilemma; that to teach the required curriculum would put her at risk for dismissal under the anti evolution statute. A suit was filed to challenge the constitutionality of the statute, and the State Chancery Court of Pulaski County ruled that the statute was unconstitutional. This ruling was overturned by the Arkansas Supreme Court in 1967. Upon appeal, the U.S. Supreme Court held that: Arkansas law cannot be defended as an act of religious neutrality. Arkansas did not seek to excise from the curricula of its schools and universities all discussion of the origin of man. The violent outbreak of Richard Parker, along with his silent departure at the end of the novel, portrays how futile it is to try to change a wild animal into a civilized being. Richard Parker seems, at first, to have experienced a spiritual breakthrough and transformation after Pi s attempt to training. With the creation of rules people can get more things done with structure of rules. Without these rules everyone will act more savage than the normal person acts today. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding uses the conflict to show that Ralph is civilized, and that Jack is showing signs of savagery. Cases under unilateral mistake can be divided into three categories: Firstly mistaken identity, secondly mistake as to the terms of a contract and thirdly mistake as to the nature of a document signed. Therefore the effect of unilateral mistake is that it will make a contract void or voidable, and hence to identify which one of the two parties has the right to the title of the goods. It has been said that if a party makes a mistake as to the identity of the person he is contracting with then there is no contract, or if there is a contract then it is void such that no property can transfer under it. Also, the author turns the reader to become more aware and skeptical. The odd characters in the passages brews up mysterious events to occur. Dahl s writing persuades readers that the characters are very sweet and then once they start doing creepy things, then they will suddenly become evil in a blink of an eye. For example, in The Landlady the sweet old lady is very welcoming and states that no one is here and he is welcome to stay, and when he rang the doorbell she was right there almost like she was expecting him. And later on in the story, he saw on the sign in sheet that there were two young men here from a couple years ago but no one has been here since. And then she said that they are on the third floor, and then Dahl does a plot twist and the sweet old lady states that no one is here. Also, The Landlady states that, ... • 44. Analysis Of Rafael Alcides Nadie At The Woodland Theater I went to the showing of Nadie at the Woodland Theater. This film was apart of the Latin American Studies week at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. This film was a documentary about Rafael Alcides, a poet from Cuba. This film was mostly an interview with Alcides, who talked about his life and living through the Cuban Revolution. This in depth interview ranges from the struggle of how Alcides, a once famous person, is now nadie or nobody. Alcides is currently in the process of trying to save his work as most of his writing is written in fading ink. Additionally, his interview discusses at length about how he views the revolution like an old girlfriend . After Fidel Castro died, he and many others realized their lifelong fight was for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason this film was able to do that is through the way that director Miguel Coyula was able manipulate so many of the images within his shots to fit the interview and add emphasis to the words of Alcides. I have not studied Cuba s history much, so I found this film to be incredibly informative. I loved Rafael Alcides s story! This film was a very abstract form of art that was a little difficult to process. I am still trying to grasp it all, but overall I found that this film accomplished everything that it set out to do. The best part of going to this event was being able to stay for the Q A session following the movie with director Miguel Coyula. I learned a lot more about how Coyula was able to manipulate his shots and animate certain portions of the film. Coyula also explained that this film is heavily censored in Cuba. In fact, he told us that he is banned from showing his film in Cuba. This film was also rejected by the Miami Film Festival because of their being so many Cubans who could see it and by Michael Moore and his Detroit Film Festival because of the negative messages about Cuba this film might send. To sum up the whole event, I am so happy that I was able to attend this showing; I learned a lot about Cuba, the Cuban Revolution, and the devastation that many Cubans feel after the failure of the ... • 45. What Qualities Make Sister Helen Prejean Such A Helpful... 1. What character qualities make Sister Helen Prejean such a helpful spiritual advisor? Sister Helen Prejean possessed many qualities that presented her as a helpful spiritual advisor. Although she was new to the idea of working with a convict, she was able to look past Matthew s conviction and past and lead him to learn and seek God in the days leading up to his death. This makes Sister Helen forgiving and that is a vital quality to possess as a spiritual advisor. Sister Helen was against capital punishment for the reason being that you can not solve murder by murdering as it will not provide justice. Sister Helen was able to recognize even the deadliest man as a son of God and that deserved to be loved equally. She did not turn a blind eye to anyone, even the ones that many claimed did not deserve it. She helped Matthew recognize God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The New Testament call us to protect life, practice mercy, and reject vengeance. For this reason, the death penalty is a form of hatred and bitterness because it denies mercy and forgiveness for the prisoners. As Sister Helen stated in the movie, how can you solve murder by murdering? The governments that enforce the death penalty, violate the international human rights laws in a way that is hypocritical. The law states that it is illegal to kill, meanwhile, they do the opposite of what they are enforcing in the country. This clearly shows the cynicism that the death penalty consists of for by standers and victims. A well known quote an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind shows how bitter and cynical the death penalty really is. Violence cannot be fought with more violence. Justice is important, but so is mercy and compassion. No person should be denied forgiveness and assistance to turn from his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Human Rights Campaign Defines Sexual Orientation The Human Rights Campaign defines sexual orientation as An inherent or immutable enduring emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people . This is a very hot topic these days as about 3 10% of the population identifies as homosexual or any sexual orientation other than heterosexual. According to said Sandra F. Witelson, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences at McMaster University in Ontario: research is pointing to basic differences in the brain between homosexual and heterosexual people that are likely there right from the beginning...These could be reflecting some genetic or hormonal factors that predetermine your sexual orientation (Stein). There s been a history of jumping to conclusions and overinterpreting findings in this field. says William Byne, a professor of psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York (Stein). History Scientists have no idea on what it meant to be gay 10,000 years ago but we have some idea what it meant 200 years ago says geneticist Sven Blocklandt of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (Abrams). The terms homosexual and homosexuality were first coined in a political disquisition in 1869 by Hungarian journalist Ka´roli Ma´ria Kertbeny (Drescher). In the early 20th century, most regarded homosexuality as pathological or as a disease and by the mid 20th century, many psychiatrists, psychologists, and physicians were trying to cure homosexuality. • 49. Is Teacher Tenure Worth Keeping According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ranking, the United States of America is considered mediocre in its educational performance. In a competitive world where average is just not adequate for the well being of a nation, experts have theorized that to improve the country s education our schools need to revaluate different factors of the education system. Some have even speculated these factors are the teacher s tenure. In fact, some claim tenure is the reason why the United States education system quality is on its downward slope. In order for one to determine if the country s education is suffering from tenure, one need to have a full understanding of its function and how teachers use tenure. One would also need to know the benefits of this contract by understanding how tenure relates to discrimination, academic freedom, freedom of expression, freedom of association, and freedom of religion. However, one would also need to have knowledge of the cons of teacher s tenure by analyzing how the dance of the lemon s policy and the reassignment centers do not allow teachers to improve and how much tenure can cost the school districts. In order to distinguish if the United States should allow a teacher to become subjects to tenure, one need to recognize the purpose and how that purpose is applied to teachers with tenure. The intention of tenure is to provide job security for teachers (Public Impact, 2011, p.3). For a teacher to earn the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

P amp;G s diaper brand Pampers has been the industrial leader in the relevant segment for years. P amp;G has been developing a long established partnership with Wal Mart based on a just in time ordering and delivery system for disposable diapers featured with the electronic data interchange system linking Wal Mart vendors with P amp;G factories. It was clearly stated in the case that the products from those private label brands can be 20 percent, or in some cases even 30 to 40 percent less than first tier national brands. No matter what strategies P amp;G would use, it has to be related to a series of price adjustments to absorb the impact of the entering of low priced private label product in this case, Wal Mart s private label diapers supplied by Kimberly Clark. Although the case didn t provide any alternative solutions to the situation, in my opinion there were two main options to resolve the problem. The first option is to lower the price of P amp;G s diaper product to better compete with Wal Mart s private label. The second option is to mainly maintain or slightly raise the price to establish P amp;G s diaper brand Pampers as a premium brand in the segment. As I mentioned before, when the concern came down to the price, it seems that it s inevitable for P amp;G to reduce the price of their diapers in order to stay in the leading position of the segment. Although P amp;G has all the rights and reasons to market Pampers as a premium brand with the high quality diapers and the intimate community service and relationships they ve developed over years by marketing campaigns. However the research data from Huggies Every Little Bottom Study Diaper need in U.S. and Canada* shows that one fifth of the North American mothers are struggling to provide diapers for their babies.
