Mass Hysteria
This paper is about the diverse ways mass hysteria is classified in our society today, and the possible
theories behind what really caused the events in Salem to occur. Janca and Simons portray their
opinions towards different events of mass hysteria, and are able to develop their own professional
theories relating to the mentality of the individuals that were caught under the influence of hysteria.
Those individuals minds are examined, and their information is represented in this paper. The cited
articles explain distinct facts that were used to interpret the direct cause of mass hysteria, and others
include counteracting opinions and facts towards those specific topics. The truth behind mass hysteria
is provided, and it gives the reasoning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Salem witch trials were caused by a group of girls who wanted to get moral vengeance on others
for the unproven morals they have disregarded. The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, has portrayed the
ideology behind mass hysteria excellently, and common traits are located throughout all of the events
of mass hysteria mentioned in this paper. Our society has not changed compared to the societies
during the Salem witch trials. Individuals are still comparing themselves to one another. It takes a
single popular party to completely change a person s actions and opinions towards a topic. As to why
mass hysteria should be interpreted as a popular trend, rather than an unpredictable

Hashimoto’S Thyroiditis, Also Called Hashimoto’S Disease
Hashimoto s Thyroiditis, also called Hashimoto s disease is an autoimmune disease in which the body
s immune system attacks the thyroid gland. It was named for the Japanese surgeon who discovered it
in 1912 The thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland in the front of the neck. The thyroid makes
hormones called T3 and T4. These hormones regulate metabolism. The thyroid is controlled by
hormones of the pituitary gland, which is also called the master gland. It is a pea sized gland located in
the base of the brain which, among others, makes thyroid stimulating hormone, or TSH. TSH
stimulates the thyroid to make thyroid hormone. With Hashimoto s disease, the thyroid cells are
damaged resulting in the inability to make enough thyroid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
TPO is an enzyme that plays a role in the production of thyroid hormones. However, over time,
thyroiditis causes slow and chronic cell damage leading to the development of a goiter (enlarged
thyroid) with gradual thyroid failure, and most patients will eventually develop symptoms of
hypothyroidism. Hypothyroid symptoms may include fatigue, weight gain, constipation, increased
sensitivity to cold, dry skin, depression, muscle aches and reduced exercise tolerance, and irregular or
heavy menses. (American Thyroid Association 2017). According to The National Institute of Diabetes
and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, diagnosis of Hashimoto s thyroiditis begins with a physical exam
and medical history. A goiter, nodules, or growths may be found during a physical exam, and
symptoms may suggest hypothyroidism. Health care providers will then perform blood tests to
confirm the diagnosis. Diagnostic blood tests may include the TSH, which, if above normal lab values,
means a patient has hypothyroidism. Blood tests also include T4, which is the amount of thyroid
hormone in the blood. In hypothyroidism, the blood lab values are lower than normal. The anti thyroid
antibody tests look for presence of thyroid autoantibodies. Most people with Hashimoto s disease have
these antibodies; however, hypothyroidism isn t always caused

The Heart Essay
THE HEART The heart is a muscular organ about the size of a closed fist that functions as the body s
circulatory pump. It takes in deoxygenated blood through the veins and delivers it to the lungs for
oxygenation before pumping it into the various arteries (which provide oxygen and nutrients to body
tissues by transporting the blood throughout the body). The heart is located in the thoracic cavity
medial to the lungs and posterior to the sternum.
On its superior end, the base of the heart is attached to the aorta, pulmonary arteries and veins, and the
vena cava. The inferior tip of the heart, known as the apex, rests just superior to the diaphragm. The
base of the heart is located along the body s midline with the apex pointing toward ... Show more

Myocardium makes up the majority of the thickness and mass of the heart wall and is the part of the
heart responsible for pumping blood. Below the myocardium is the thin endocardium layer.
Endocardium. Endocardium is the simple squamous endothelium layer that lines the inside of the
heart. The endocardium is very smooth and is responsible for keeping blood from sticking to the
inside of the heart and forming potentially deadly blood clots.
Chambers of the Heart
The heart contains 4 chambers: the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, and left ventricle. The atria
are smaller than the ventricles and have thinner, less muscular walls than the ventricles. The atria act
as receiving chambers for blood, so they are connected to the veins that carry blood to the heart. The
ventricles are the larger, stronger pumping chambers that send blood out of the heart. The ventricles
are connected to the arteries that carry blood away from the heart.
The chambers on the right side of the heart are smaller and have less myocardium in their heart wall
when compared to the left side of the heart. This difference in size between the sides of the heart is
related to their functions and the size of the 2 circulatory loops. The right side of the heart maintains
pulmonary circulation to the nearby lungs while the left side of the heart pumps blood all the way to
the extremities of the body in the systemic circulatory

Abraham Heschel s Definition Of Abraham Lincoln As A Prophet
Abraham Lincoln
The definition of a prophet, according to Abraham Heschel, is someone who is faithful to God, is
passionate, and would risk their lives to spread the truth of God. Prophets like Isaiah were called to go
on missions for God, to help people see, and he, with a passion, said Here Am I. Send Me. (Isaiah
6:8). In Jeremiah, God states that he is to be prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:4). Abraham Lincoln
was 52 when he became President of the United States of America and became one of the most well
known Presidents in United States history. While normally, you do not think of Abraham Lincoln as a
prophet, Abraham Lincoln fits Abraham Heschel s description of a prophet because he made our
country one again, he emancipated slavery even though many of us thought slavery was okay, and he

Back in 1861, Abraham Lincoln was approximately five months into being President when the Civil
War rang out across the United States of America. The President had come up with a series of plans
for how he planned to have the Confederates lose the Civil War, but each time he came up short,
however, after the Battle of Gettysburg, his plans were finally starting to work out the way he wanted,
this became known as the turning point of the war for the union. After only six days of having won the
war, Abraham Lincoln was, sadly, shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. Abraham Heschel states that
Prophets earn their title by witnessing the world around them with outstanding passion. and Abraham
Lincoln fought this war with an outstanding passion. According to Abraham Heschel, Prophets are
also the men whose image is our refuge in distress, and whose voice and vision sustain our faith.

kidnap/assassination plot to kidnap/assassinat Abraham Lincoln and frequently talked to John Wilkes
Booth. Mary Surratt lied many times to the police and to the people around her. When Lewis Powell
came knocking at Surratt s door while the police were questioning her, she lied when the police asked

Essay on Mise-en-scene in Citizen Kane and Persona
Mise en scene in Citizen Kane and Persona
Mise en scene is the principle by which a piece of film will derive its meaning wholly from what
happens in the single shot and not from the relationship between two shots. For example the director
might include shots with various composition, angle, depth, movement, and lighting.
Citizen Kane has many good examples to show Mise on scene usage. The scene that I believe is the
most significant and powerful mise en scene that I have this seen this semester exists in this movie.
This occurs when the parents of the young boy are speaking with a gentleman in the house. As the
people are speaking we see the boy playing in the snow as we look into the background through the
window. This scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camera is moving many times as the three people who seem to be the focus of the scene are
moving. However, the real point of the shot lies with the boy in the background which is never not in
the shot. Another movie that had a great impact on me was Persona. There were many important
scenes in this film, but there was one example of mise en scene that sticks out in my mind. This is the
scene when the nurse is chasing the actress along the seashore. The actress is walking swiftly away
from her along rocks, while the nurse is trying her hardest to catch up to her. This scene comes
directly after the nurse yells at the mute actress and slaps her across the face. It seems the whole
movie she is trying to be nice to this woman and the one time that she stands up to her, she runs away.
The nurse is begging for forgiveness. This scene really proves how weak the nurse is emotionally and
mentally. She is sobbing and in a state of hysteria and the actress still will not forgive her. This reveals
a lot of the actress s persona too. It shows that she does not really care much for the nurse, even
though she is just trying to help her. The scene ends with the actress walking off and the nurse running
in the opposite direction towards the water. She stumbles and cries and then the scene is over. This
scene tells us, the audience a lot about the personality of both women not just in this scene but in their
lives. The nurse is a caring woman

Quotes From The Messenger
Messenger changed me in several ways. I would recommend this book to Taiya because I know she is
reading the series and I want to encourage her to persevere, so I can have someone to talk about with.
The first lesson I learned was that you have to face evil and destroy it, you can t let it slowly seep into
you and others because it spreads like wildfire. This occurred throughout the novel, especially with the
village as a whole and mentor. I believe that Trademaster was created to prove this point by Lois
Lowry, evil and sin are sinister and will slowly creep into you and that s why you have to be on the
lookout. Mentor is a prime example of this done wrong during Trademart. The second is to look
beyond. This may sound odd, but I believe it is imperative to search for the ... Show more content on

written from the point of view of Matt and a few times Seer. The whole plot is basically that Village
has been friendly and helpful for as long as it has been around and then suddenly, a few characters
such as Matty, Seer, and the Leader notice a change... The villagers have become hostile towards each
other and foreigners. No one knows why. Then, the Forest also reflects this shift and is becoming
impassible. Matty has very little time left before Forest becomes impassible and he has to go convince
Kira to come to Village before it s too late. Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention... Matty has a special
gift of healing. He gets Kira safely and has trouble only when he is on the way home. He discovers
that he and Kira will die. Some say drastic times call for drastic measures and I would say that phrase
is applicable in this situation. Matty realizes what he must use all of his remaining power. He realizes

Essay about Appalachia Culture
Many people have different views on what Appalachia is, I grew up thinking that Appalachia meant
people were dirty, poor, illiterate, inbreed and we also called them mountain people. As I grew up I
realized that most of the things they went through and had a hard time with, I was dealing with the
same problems. So what exactly is Appalachia? Well you will find out as you read on.
Appalachia is no longer the land of severe poverty that it was three decades ago, now the poverty rate
of one in 15 is close to the national average. The number of adults who have received a high school
diploma has also jumped from one out of three to two out of three; and the infant death rate has been

Coal became the fuel that fired the furnaces of the nation, transforming the Appalachian region
socially and economically. Unfortunately mountain people didn t realize the implications of their
mineral wealth. Many sold their land and mineral rights for pennies an acre to outlanders.
Appalachians became laborers rather than entrepreneurs. Coal became a major industry which was
extremely sensitive to outside fluctuations in the economy, leading to boom and bust cycles. The
industry was controlled by interests outside the region, so that little of the profit remained or was
reinvested.
Appalachia is often portrayed as an arrested frontier, a geographically isolated subculture, and
reservoir of culturally homogenous. Appalachians are pictured as proud, fiercely independent, and god
fearing southerners. But in all reality they are portrayed as fighting and feuding, barefooted and
backward, ignorant degenerates, downtrodden by centuries of isolation, inbreeding, and poverty. So
how was Appalachia discovered? Well Appalachia was prompted in the mid 1870s by local color
writers such as Mary Murfee and John Fox Jr. who explored in fiction and travel sketches such
mountain themes as conflicting Civil War loyalties, moon shining, and feuding. (Billings)

Allotment Vs Assimilation Era
Understanding the Allotment and Assimilation Era is extremely crucial in being able to understand
todays standings with American Indian policy as well as the current welfare of the Indigenous peoples.
This idea of welfare incorporates societal views, economic well being, social structures, and cultural
standing for American Indians. The Allotment and Assimilation Era is one in which combines two
drastic policies that being, Indian land allotment and assimilation into the American culture. It is
critical to recognize how these previously implemented structures determine the functionality of
society. Understanding why these policies occurred and how they occurred are necessary for
comparing their impacts both then and now. The consequences of ... Show more content on

At the time, they both seem like radical transformations however, it seems to me like the tribal
communities were more affected by the allotment era. This is fundamentally because the tribal
communities were broken up by family leaders and not just by their offspring like in the assimilation
policy. The tribes could still function and survive without the children, but with the separation of the
elders of the tribes many did not survive. The demise of the tribes was economic and affected the
livelihood of each individual tribe. The splitting up of these people back then had a drastic impact
directly because a lack of technological communication; The tribes could not function as a whole
without their intra tribal communication. Another reason this was more direct was the direct loss of
land. This loss was disastrous for tribes that solely relied on the resources. The boarding schools
policy of this era had a longer lasting legacy on the tribes. Ultimately this is because the assimilation
process took a greater amount of time to fully come into effect and really factor into the lives of the
Indians. The culture loss and language loss is still in effect to some extent today, however there are
methods of trying to reverse this. The oppression the students felt in turn affected their roles into
American society and today their economic situations. The motivations by Pratt to start the
assimilation at a young age was detrimental to their future generations who could not be raised by
traditional methods. The boarding schools has evidently had a greater lasting legacy because we often
learn about them before policy like The General Allotment Act of 1887. The allotment policy was
more impactful at the time; However, the assimilation has had a greater impact overall and

Effects of Daily Media Use on Youth Obesity
As according to a study done by the Kaiser Family Foundation, 8 18 year olds devote an average of 7
hours and 38 minutes...to using entertainment media across a typical day . Not only that, but most
youths also report to having no rules governing the amount of time spent on entertainment media in
the mediums of TV, videogames, and any computer use. Less than 50% actually have rules and
regulations on what video games they are allowed to play and what TV shows they can watch.
However, I believe that daily media use among children and teens needs to be controlled. If it is not,
this could potentially lead to negative ramifications, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, obesity, internet
addiction, and negative effects on the brain.

The Effects Of Shinto Religion On Japan
In an article written by Christian Centuries in 2016. In this article, the writer goes over the love the
prime minister has for the Ise Grand Shrine, which is the most sacred place in Japan. The writer also

become more of a Liberal Democrat and his teachings and ruling went off of the Democrat ways to

The article goes on to explain the effects that the Shinto religion has had on Japan. The religion was
not thought of as much as it was back in the prewar days. The religion prays to the God Kami , which

The expenses recorded only when the expenses are paid. This can mask how well or poorly a business
is doing since it is recognizing transactions only when money is being paid or received and not when
sales or purchases are actually made. According to IRS Publication 334 if you will be having an
inventory on hand such as the cars for your used car dealership the you must use the accrual method.
The IRS says that if your business s sales are in excess of $5 million dollars that accrual accounting
must be used. While the initial years of your business may not produce such sales you will have an
inventory of cars that will be sold to the public which then means the sales number reduces from over
$5 million to over $1 million dollars. However, there are some exceptions such as:
Qualifying taxpayer: You are a qualifying tax payer if: o Average gross annual receipts for each prior
tax year ending on or after December 17, 1998 is $1 million or less... o Your business is not a tax
shelter... (IRS Publication 334, 2017).)
Materials and supplies that are not incidental (IRS Publication 334, 2017). But with your corporation
these would not be taken into consideration and with your corporation, Mr. Jones, the recommendation
is the accrual method of accounting. With the accrual accounting method, the revenue is recorded
when it is earned and not when the money is received. The expenses are recorded when they occur not
when the payment

It seems that Mr. Nardelli and his team followed some of the steps of the Kotter and Cohen s model,
but not all. There are additional steps that his team could have taken to improve morale and develop

As mentioned, Mr. Nardelli wanted to focus on the military style as the management model (Grow

Summary Of Dancing At Lughnasa
Dancing at Lughnasa is a play written by Brian Friel first published in 1990. In the play, Friel tells the
story of Ireland as a whole through the story of a family living in Ballybeg, Donegal. The family
consists of five sisters and their brother, as well as Michael. Michael is the son of one of the sisters,
Christina, but more importantly the narrator of the story. The play is set in the summer of 1936. The
first change mentioned in the book is the return of Father Jack. Father Jack is the oldest member of the
Mundy family, a missionary priest, who has spent the last 25 years in Uganda. During his time in
Uganda, he has absorbed the African religion and culture. Jack s return affects greatly the everyday

For example, Kate refuses change. As mentioned before, she cannot accept Father Jack s new beliefs.
This disapproval for change might come from the fact that Kate is afraid of losing control: suddenly
you realize that hair cracks are appearing everywhere; that control is slipping away . That is why she
rarely joins the girls in dancing. She is worried about their futures and even though she is described as
a cold person, she truly cares about her sisters, which we can see when Agnes and Rose decide to
leave, as Kate is described to be inconsolable .

Traditional American Dating
Should young americans looking for a long term relationship use online dating services instead of
traditional american dating methods?
The concept of dating has dramatically changed and in the 21 century s age of self expression adults
might not want their children to stray from the traditional American dating standards they grew up in.
The concept of dating has changed because instead of dating the normal way, many Americans turn to
online dating to find their partner. According to Statistic Brain, a trusted research provider of CNN
and ABC news, 40 million Americans use online dating services ( Dating/ Relationship Statistics ).

find a partner. According to Dr.Phil, world renowned medical doctor with a focus in mental health, a

Investing in Distressed Real Estate Essay
A fast growing trend in today s rocky real estate market; buy a house, flip it and sell it quickly to earn
a lucrative profit. In today s real estate market you have to be smart about the purchase you make and
do your homework. Choosing the right neighborhood, a home with good bones, a large lot, and quiet
street are key factors in producing a profitable investment. Choosing a home in sketchy transitional
areas and over improving for the type of market can leave a real estate investor with a property that
stays on the market, causing the investor to loose profit and have to lower his asking price below
market value. Flipping properties is a risky business that can pay off handsomely or leave the

the perfect starter home and has three bedrooms, two baths, and family room with hardwood floors
throughout and tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. The house boasts a separate dining room, patio, one

Pica Human Body
It is essential for the human body to consume the proper amount of nutrients every day. Our bodies
rely on nutrients to live a healthy lifestyle. The human body needs the equivalent amount of fats,
carbohydrates, sodium, proteins, vitamins, and so for. Our body is provided with these dietary
supplements through fruits and vegetables, grains, dairy products, and meats. When these supplements
are not provided to the human body, there will be a decrease of health to one self. Individuals with the
disorder Pica will experience the loss of important nutrients to the body. As stated by (Bay et al.,

Those who live independently have free access to the harmful substances. Those who have no
limitations to these substances will continue to use them and the more they use, the worse their body

because they can help the individuals eliminate the use of Pica. It is also essential for parents to watch
over their children carefully. Parents should child proof the home and keep all harmful substances out

A prognosis for individuals who have Pica can vary by how motivated the individual is to quit. Pica is

Articles Of Confederation Rhetorical Analysis
One of the most important documents written in American history, the Articles of Confederation, was
crucial to the foundation of American principles. However, there were many inherent flaws in its
making, which were addressed by a few different leaders. The Articles of Confederation paved the
way towards a successful country, but some of the problems would have sent the country backwards.
One of these problems was that for an amendment to be made to the Articles, every state would have
to agree, and Rhode Island never sent delegates to conventions to discuss these amendments. This
meant that there could never be flexibility in the amendments even when necessary. This dilemma
forced many elites of America to come together and completely rewrite ... Show more content on

10 was one of the main factors that allowed for the ratification of the modern constitution and
government system. Idealistically, Madison s ideas about government are possibly the best possible
solution to the conflict of factions, yet in reality, Federalist No. 10 has been manipulated in ways that
separate people more than unite them. While Madison is probably right in that republicanism is better
than simply a popular democracy, his writing essentially did nothing but flip the party in power.
Before, the power was held by the majority common people, which was bad because only their
interests were being addressed, but after Madison wrote Federalist No. 10, the elite group was the
group from which delegates were being elected. Madison was one of the property owners, and he
feared that the common sort would prevent him from remaining in power so he had to switch the way
the system worked. Through his rhetorical analysis he convinced the people that electing delegates
was the way to go, and in the end only the members of the elite group were elected. He wanted a
government that protected the rights of the rich property owners from the common sort and he was
successful in doing so. He says a rage for paper money will hinder the abilities of those elected and
therefore should not be. This prevented anyone who was poor from being elected. Now, Madison also
makes the assumption that the people elected will somehow throw

Modern Day Reasoning For Tattoos
In a recent Fox News poll, an astounding one in five voters in America admitted to having at least one
tattoo (Blanton, 2014). Body art has become increasingly popular over the past several years among a
wide range of individuals. With so much attention on tattoos, it is a wonder how and when tattooing
began. However, no one really knows for certain when tattooing began, or how it began for that
matter. The belief is that tattooing began at least by 3300 BCE. That is how far back anthropologists
have dated an iceman named Otzi, who was discovered in the Alps between Austria and Italy in 1991
(Nagle, 2009). Though anthropologists have an idea of when tattooing began, there is no evidence as
to how the first tattoo was created.
Reasons for Tattoos
Reasons for getting a tattoo vary greatly. In some cultures tattoos were used as a way to mark bravery
or a way to mark slaves. Other cultures used tattoos to signify wealth or status. Modern day reasoning
for tattoos has changed greatly. Tattoos and Body Piercing lists several reasons people get tattoos,
including enhancing beauty, identifying oneself, commemorating others, rebellious acts, and body
makeovers. Individuals may use tattoos as an art form to express their personality or beliefs. Also,
tattoos often carry a specific message or association. For instance, a person may get a tattoo as a way
of remembering a loved one. Tattoos may even be a sign of risky or defiant behavior. Young teenagers,
for example, may get a tattoo

Tragic Heroines In Greek Drama
In ancient Greece, societal conventions and norms permeated all aspects of life. The arts were
especially influenced by the ideals and beliefs of society. Gender was especially regulated in everyday
life, something we see reflected in many art forms. The ancient Greeks were extremely influential in
both the visual and dramatic arts. Throughout the development of these styles, we see how society s
established gender norms permeated the works of artists and playwrights alike. This is especially true
in the depictions of dramatic heroines. Women from famous legends and myth were popular topics of
study in the arts, but this does not mean they were spared from gendered expectations and roles. This
paper will study representations of Greek tragic heroines in Athenian drama and on vase paintings.
Through case studies of Alcestis, Medea, Electra, and Clytemnestra, I will see how perceptions of
these women consistent or varying across the different art forms, how they upheld expectations of
decorum, and how they are shown as upholding or challenging gender roles. By examining the
intersection of theatre and vase painting, we can have a better understanding of how Greek society
viewer these tragic heroines and the themes connected to their narratives. It is important to
acknowledge the time frame we are looking at for both the texts and vases. Greek drama greatly
developed and rose in popularity during the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, during which all of the texts

people smugglers had no product to sell. It was aimed at preventing people embarking on a trip across

There was a gentle hush all along Nakanoshima. All of the shops and high rise buildings had their
shutters rolled down creating shadowy, silent walls. Darkness. A lonely orphaned boy stood outside
the Kansai Electric Power Company building. At exactly 11:30pm, scheduled precisely of course, the
top of the building lit up, glowing like a light bulb. Its radiance was mesmerising, illuminating the
pitch black Osaka night sky. Takayuki hugged his loose tattered clothing closer to his bony frame, and
with weathered hands, prised open an unlocked window. Clambering inside, he traced his hands across

Instinctively, Takayuki jammed down the emergency opening button on the controls and with a hiss;
he was greeted with yet another dark room. However, the elevator did not land squarely on the
platform and thus, Takayuki was confronted with the prospect of falling into an abyss. Carefully, he
shimmied his way down the outside edge of the elevator before gracefully pushing off and landing
safely. Composing himself, Takayuki discovered that he was on the eighteenth floor, reading off the
wall. He began to run towards the long spiral staircase that awaited him.
The unchecked fires were dispersing rapidly from downtown Nakanoshima, and had at last reached
the Kansai Power building. Believing it to be empty, emergency crews were instructed to stay outside,
whilst firemen attempted to tame the fires.
Panting heavily, Takayuki stripped off his sweaty jacket, carelessly dumping it on the ground as he
persevered onwards, willing himself up the final set of stairs. It was indeed a sight to behold. Takayuki
was completely unprepared, having spent the last few hours in the dark, blinded by the powerful beam
of light that spread out in ever widening circles. However, as the magnificent light created a beautiful

Essay on The Psychology of Freud
The Psychology of Freud
After Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud (1836 1939) probably revolutionized Western thought more
than any other thinker in the past century. His psychodynamic approach to psychology and the forces
behind human motivations is best known for its focus on childhood sexuality and his picture of the
mind. His research focused on case studies of individuals and their motivations first through hypnosis
and later through a technique that he called psychoanalysis where he allowed the patient to talk freely
and experience a cathartic release of emotions.

Freud pays most attention to the unconscious, the completely invisible layer of the mind and seat of
wishes and motivations. The metaphor of an iceberg is often used to describe the levels of
consciousness; the conscious is only the very tip of the iceberg that is visible above the water, the
preconscious is just below the surface and only slightly visible, while the vast majority of the iceberg,
as well as the mind s processes, lie below, in the unconscious.
The three forces shaping human personality are the id, the ego, and the superego. Most of the
interaction between the three occurs on the unconscious level, especially processes of the id and the
superego (Seligman). The id, known as the pleasure principle, demands immediate gratification of
desires. Infants are controlled solely by the id, and thus act whenever they feel any lack of their wants.
To counteract the id is an internalization of societal demands in the superego. The superego strives to
direct actions toward morality and socially acceptable actions. The superego corresponds to the
everyday conscience that tells us when we are doing something bad.
The tension between the id and superego is mediated by the ego, or the reality principle. When the
goals of the two forces conflict, as they often do, the ego works to satisfy desires as much as

Individualism In The Vikings
While the Viking Era was rather brief, these infamous Scandinavian brutes left a mark in history larger

The Vikings emerged from the present day area in Northern Europe known as Scandinavia, which

Viking is said to mean a pirate raid and originates from a dead language called Old Norse , which was
the native tongue of the Vikings.
Contrary to the widely Christian beliefs of the rest of medieval Europe, the Vikings held pagan

Difference Between Jane Eyre And Wide Sargasso Sea

Contributions Of John Winthrop
John Winthrop plays a huge part in American history. He was a great leader and the founder of if not
the most, one of the historical cities in the land we call home. His efforts established to creating the
great city shall never be forgotten. Many may argue that Columbus discovery of America was the
most important event that occurs in Chapter 2, I would argue that John Winthrop s desire to create a
City on a Hill, and governing a successful colony was critical to the founding of the United States.
The mentality John Winthrop possessed and key events he was a part of has molded America into
what it is today.
John Winthrop was known to be a father figure amongst the colonists. Winthrop was a part of the
Puritan religious group. The Puritans were people looking to purify the Church of England under the
reign of King Henry the VIII. Winthrop in 1629 led the Puritans on a verge to America to create a City
on a Hill . The Massachusetts Bay Company relocated their headquarters to America and named where
they settled New England. The Massachusetts Bay Company also funds the Puritans journey to
America. The colony is known to be the second to establish in America. A year after settling 1630,
John Winthrop establishes a port named Massachusetts Bay for their new city, Boston. The city of
Boston will become the first major city in America. For his role and leadership in creating a City on a

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect Society
The Industrial Revolution took place in the 17th century through 1850 in England. The Industrial

way people lived at home, the way people worked. The Industrial Revolution had great effect on
society. It affected individuals work. The workers had 3 levels of participants there was the wealthy

Social Inequality
What is social inequality? What are the sources of social inequality? For me, social inequality cannot
be described in one sentence. Factors such as race, wealth, class, gender, age, among others all play
roles into why people can sometimes be treated unfairly. However before I introspectively reflect on
social inequality, there is one theory that suggests where today s society is heading for me. Karl Marx
is known as a prominent economic and political influence that lived during the 19th century. Marx s
theory of stratification is very applicable to where society, especially in the United States, is heading
today. According to Marx, society would become divided into two classes, the dominant capitalist or

(Smeeding, Timothy) Some economists even refer to Russia and Mexico as developing countries.
Essentially the United States has the biggest economic gap among all developed countries. Why has
that occurred? CEO s, professional athletes, actors ect. make most of the money earned in this country,
leaving everyone else to work for them while they make a ridiculous income and the workers settle for
just enough to have a modest lifestyle. The other day I was watching a film that promoted a similar
theme to what I am trying to convey. The production was called In Time starring Justin Timberlake
and Amanda Seyfried. Basically instead of money people were paid in time that they had left to live.
In the movie we see a huge disparity in how different people live based on how much time they had.
The important figures in their society used the time they had to manipulate everyone else because they
could afford to give some away. This represents how money is influential in today s culture. Through
outlets like social media, advertisements, and important public figures having money is portrayed as
being paramount. However the opposite, if someone is living in poverty, something must be wrong

Driverless Driving
During the last 30 years, the global car market has undergone significant changes in driver experience
due to technological progress (Knight, 2012). Today, a typical middle class car comes with standard
features, such as power windows, automatic gearbox and electronic stability program (Handmer,
2014; Knight, 2012). High end automobiles can be bought with intelligent features like automatic start
stop mechanism enhanced cruise control, active lane assistance and self parking technology
(Handmer, 2014; Knight 2014). These innovations make driving more comfortable, but still require
human interaction (Knight, 2012). However, todays connected cars and increasing technological
progress pave the way for fully autonomous vehicles (Handmer, 2014). ... Show more content on

However, before driverless vehicles enter the market three main challenges relating to technology,
legal and consumers lie ahead (IHS Automotive, 2014). Software reliability and cyber security must
be guaranteed (Kelly CNN, 2014), a legal framework for self driving vehicles regarding insurance and
liability has to be established (Kelly CNN, 2014) and consumers must be convinced to accept
driverless vehicles (IHS Automotive, 2014). Consumers may question, whether driverless driving
features will offer an overall better option than driving themselves. Taking into account that failure of
consumer acceptance entails considerable costs to companies (Chiesa Frattini, 2011). It is essential for
organizations to understand under which circumstances customers accept autonomous cars.
Acceptance and future use of new technologies are frequently subject to tradeoffs between uncertain
benefits and costs of adopting the new invention (Venkatesh, Morris, Davis, Davis, 2003). Several
studies have researched the acceptance of driver assistant systems (DAS) (Adell, 2009; Arndt, 2004;
Arndt Engeln, 2008; Huth Gelau, 2013). However, so far no studies have explored users acceptance of
fully autonomous driving

Code Of The Inner City Analysis
Life in the Inner City In the novel Code of the Street: Decency, Violence, and the Moral Life of the
Inner City written by Elijah Anderson, Elijah discusses how the environment and the economy affects
the choices that youths in the inner city make. Elijah argues that the inner city black America is
extremely violent, but he also asserts that there is this code individuals in these areas need to
understand in order not to be harmed. Elijah supports this code using interviews and personal stories
from individuals living in the inner cities. An important key point to remember from this novel is that
violence happens because of the socioeconomic issues that surround these cities. In order for Elijah to
explain what life in the inner city is like, he engaged in participant observation, direct observation, and
conducted interviews in the state of Philadelphia. He used these methods to support the ... Show more

The interviews that Elijah conducted helped understand that there are many challenges individuals
face in these communities. In addition, most of the key points Elijah explains in this novel can be
compared to the things that people go through when involved in gangs. In every urban neighborhood,
there are two different types of families, decent and street. Street oriented families consist of
individuals that lack education, are involved in violence, and underground activities. Street oriented
individuals are seen as bad people and low life individuals. On the other hand, decent families are
those who work hard for things and influence others to do good in life. Although decent families are
surrounded by illegal activities, they try to look away from it and take the right path towards success.

Andrew Windham
Central High School

5th Period Abstract An abstract paragraph is a summary of the impact of your research on your topic.
It is not an introductory paragraph. It should be three to four sentences in length.
The Main Events and struggles of The War with Mexico in 1846 1848
Your introductory paragraph starts here. It is an explanation of what or who your subject is. We will
also talk about what events led to the war. We will talk about the after effects and the main events that
occurred during the war. It will include important dates, documents, people, and battles throughout the
paper.
The war with Mexico was the first American war fought on foreign soil. In order to fight against
Mexico we had to build a strong Army as well as a strong Navy. The war was fought between a really
unprepared military Mexico and James K. Polk (United States President). James believed the United
States had a Manifest Destiny (A belief that the expansion of the United States from one ocean to the
ocean on the other side of the United States was justified and inevitable). A border skirmish on the Rio
Grande started off the war and a lot of American victories followed behind it. When it was all over
Mexico had lost about a third of its territory, including New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and
California.
The Manifest Destiny was believed not only by Polk but also by many American citizens. It was

The Importance of Jack s Character in Golding s Novel Lord...
The Importance of Jack s Character in Golding s Novel Lord Of The Flies
Golding s novel Lord of the Flies follows the story of a group of boys stranded on an isolated desert
island. There is no figure of authority on the island and as their delicate sense of order fades, their
behaviour stats to take on a more savage significance.
At the beginning of the novel, Jack is the most obvious leader. The reader is introduced to Jack near
the end of the first chapter, as he leads the choir to the meeting. Jack is described as the boy who
controlled them before Golding even tells the reader his name. The word controlled hints that Jack is a
dictator, as is shown later in the novel.

He thinks he should be the Chief and dislikes Ralph from the beginning because he feels that Ralph
took the power that should rightfully be his.
Ralph and Jack are very similar, and can be contrasted because they are both natural leaders. In a way,
Ralph and Jack are the same person, but both have different priorities, and different leadership styles.
Ralph is democratic and selfless, associated with order and control and tries to be fair. Jack, however,
is a dictator, with a selfish leadership style, his priorities being only himself and hunting. Jack
demands respect, whereas Ralph earns it. The point of this is to show that although two people may
have the same qualities, the choices made by the people make a difference; it shows how the same
person can turn out just because one chooses savagery and one chooses order and democracy. Ralph
and Jack show the two kinds of mankind good and evil.
Jack is the only boy whose last name we learn. This is because the choir call him Merridew which
shows that even at this point in the novel, Jack has authority and power. The fact that the choir use his
last name is quite militaristic, but also is a way of Jack denying his identity and trying to make himself
more powerful than he is. It is as though Jack does not want to be seen as a child, but as a figure of
authority. This is also shown when Jack assumes he

Hiroshima Bombing Speech
The Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima The Public Explanation (1945) is a transcription of President
Truman s announcement to the American public about the dropping of the atomic bomb. His speech
was also directed to political and military leaders around the world. Truman s speech was given to
inform the people of the bomb, but also to show the world what they are dealing with.
The selection was written on August 6, 1945, sixteen hours after America dropped the atomic bomb
little boy , on Hiroshima, a Japanese port city. Hiroshima was a hotspot of industrial and military
activity. It was home to the headquarters of the Second General Army, that commanded the defense of
all of southern Japan,

If Truman had felt that the bomb did more harm than good he wouldn t have the same speech, if any
speech at all. Though the bomb did put an end to the war, there were still arguments against the use of
it. Some believe the bomb was racially motivated due to the extreme hate towards Japanese, and anti
Japanese propaganda. The propaganda as placed in all forms of media and even urged the
extermination of all Japs (racial slur towards the Japanese). All the while the Japanese were being
dehumanized which made killing them seem okay. People believe that there were alternatives to the
bombing such as a demonstration of the bomb that could have convinced them to stop resisting. Or
that America could have kept bombing them conventional till they surrendered. Another argument was
that the bomb was inhuman due to it killing civilians that had no part in the war. This also leads to
another argument that Truman didn t actually know the damage the bomb was gonna

Variables of Manufacturer Trade Promotions
Introduction:
Elasticity of demand is measure by the formula: %∆ quantity demand ÷%∆ price.
Price elasticity is affected by substitute s products and available budget from consumers (Chopra
Meindl, 2007). Manufacturers prepared budget demand estimation and mismatches between
estimation and real demand generates excess inventory (IBM, 2011). Trade promotion is the
transaction among manufacturers and retailers for compensating with price reduction inventory
differences reducing inventory at manufacturing level (Chopra Meindl, 2007).
Increase Inventory Cycle but not demand:
Manufacturers deals with fix and variable cost. Increasing production a maximum capacity reduces
total product cost but increase inventory handling cost. Producing only the quantities requested by
market place affects capacity increasing manufacturing cost. Manufacturers managing cost reduction
and capacity cost evaluating strategies for mass production, price reduction and decoupling points

Inventory cycle as optimal demand divided by 2 for predictable product demand, increases with trade
promotions because of the increase of order Q size. However, total consumer demand between retail
and final consumers may increase or not depending on product elasticity demand and customers
preferences (IBM, 2011). IBM propose solution is enabling several degrees of integration and

The Americans suspended operations in the fall of 1942, leaving the
NHL with just six teams. Despite various efforts to initiate expansion after the war, including
attempted restarts of the Maroons and Americans franchises, the league s membership would remain at
six teams for the next twenty five seasons.
By the 1960s, however, it was becoming obvious that if the NHL did not expand, a rival league would
take its place. In the
United States the American Football League was starting to become very successful at the time,
convincing many people that a rival hockey league would also succeed. In particular, the Western
Hockey League had moved into a number of major Pacific Coast markets, and had accumulated strong
rosters with talent barred from the static rosters of the NHL. This, plus the prospect of television
contracts, convinced the six owners to go ahead with expansion.
All of the Original Six franchises still exist, with no major identity changes and no

Ethics Paper
What is marketing? Marketing, according to Investopedia, is The activities of a company associated
with buying and selling a product or service. It includes advertising, selling and delivering products to
people. In even simpler terms, it s how a company or business buys/sells a product, and the way in
which they do so. Marketing is aimed towards consumers, or us the buyers of these products, and the
best advertising will have us begging for the product they represent. Although there are marketing and
advertisements that are morally sound and ethical, we have to be weary of those that aren t.
As a well educated consumer, it is up to us to make sure we do adequate research to ensure these
advertisements we are being shown aren t pulling our tail. Companies who do risqué marketing
practices involving shady tactics, deceptive advertising, or biased targeted marketing towards age
groups who can easily be taken advantage of are all easily considered unethical and morally wrong.
Ethics, are the general principles of right and wrong. It is very important for businesses to have sound
ethic practices to ensure they avoid legal trouble and media backlash. Morals, on the other hand, are
what each individual find to be right and wrong, and their justifications and experiences that help them
decide between the two.
Moral idealism plays a big role into this as well because as a society we have formulated ideas that we
find morally right

Running A Small Business
Based on my completed skills assessment and other textbook worksheets, a field that might be a good
fit for me is being an entrepreneur of a small business for clothing. Looking at the results of all the
assessments I can think like an entrepreneur and I have the drive, passion, creativity, control, and
ability to take on and face challenges of running a small clothing store. It will definitely be difficult,
but it is a dream I have had for so long to own my own business and I know I would love it and never
get bored. I can live my lifestyle, put in the hard work, and do something that interests me and makes
me want to work every day. I may not have a lot of experience yet or all the knowledge to run a
successful company, but I have a great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although I have some knowledge in this field, I do not have the passion or the drive like I do for
clothing. I know my business would fail, because I would be bored, not interested, and would not want
to work. I am also not too good with numbers and I would be stressed out all the time and focusing on
every detail and not the big picture. I know that accounting is extremely important when it comes to a
successful company, so even though I may know how to complete the books and stay on top of every
business activity to make great decisions, I would rather hire a trustworthy accountant. That way I can
focus on my true passion and enjoy my job, while also having honest financial accounts for my
business. I believe there is a field for everyone out there, but accounting is not a good fit for

Janca and Simons portray their opinions towards different events of mass hysteria, and are able to develop their own professional theories relating to the mentality of the individuals that were caught under the influence of hysteria. Those individuals minds are examined, and their information is represented in this paper. The cited articles explain distinct facts that were used to interpret the direct cause of mass hysteria, and others include counteracting opinions and facts towards those specific topics. The Salem witch trials were caused by a group of girls who wanted to get moral vengeance on others for the unproven morals they have disregarded. The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, has portrayed the ideology behind mass hysteria excellently, and common traits are located throughout all of the events of mass hysteria mentioned in this paper. Our society has not changed compared to the societies during the Salem witch trials. Individuals are still comparing themselves to one another. It takes a single popular party to completely change a person s actions and opinions towards a topic. • 3. Hashimoto’S Thyroiditis, Also Called Hashimoto’S Disease Hashimoto s Thyroiditis, also called Hashimoto s disease is an autoimmune disease in which the body s immune system attacks the thyroid gland. It was named for the Japanese surgeon who discovered it in 1912 The thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland in the front of the neck. The thyroid makes hormones called T3 and T4. These hormones regulate metabolism. The thyroid is controlled by hormones of the pituitary gland, which is also called the master gland. It is a pea sized gland located in the base of the brain which, among others, makes thyroid stimulating hormone, or TSH. TSH stimulates the thyroid to make thyroid hormone. With Hashimoto s disease, the thyroid cells are damaged resulting in the inability to make enough thyroid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... TPO is an enzyme that plays a role in the production of thyroid hormones. However, over time, thyroiditis causes slow and chronic cell damage leading to the development of a goiter (enlarged thyroid) with gradual thyroid failure, and most patients will eventually develop symptoms of hypothyroidism. Hypothyroid symptoms may include fatigue, weight gain, constipation, increased sensitivity to cold, dry skin, depression, muscle aches and reduced exercise tolerance, and irregular or heavy menses. (American Thyroid Association 2017). According to The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, diagnosis of Hashimoto s thyroiditis begins with a physical exam and medical history. A goiter, nodules, or growths may be found during a physical exam, and symptoms may suggest hypothyroidism. Health care providers will then perform blood tests to confirm the diagnosis. Diagnostic blood tests may include the TSH, which, if above normal lab values, means a patient has hypothyroidism. Blood tests also include T4, which is the amount of thyroid hormone in the blood. In hypothyroidism, the blood lab values are lower than normal. The anti thyroid antibody tests look for presence of thyroid autoantibodies. Most people with Hashimoto s disease have these antibodies; however, hypothyroidism isn t always caused ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Heart Essay THE HEART The heart is a muscular organ about the size of a closed fist that functions as the body s circulatory pump. It takes in deoxygenated blood through the veins and delivers it to the lungs for oxygenation before pumping it into the various arteries (which provide oxygen and nutrients to body tissues by transporting the blood throughout the body). The heart is located in the thoracic cavity medial to the lungs and posterior to the sternum. On its superior end, the base of the heart is attached to the aorta, pulmonary arteries and veins, and the vena cava. The inferior tip of the heart, known as the apex, rests just superior to the diaphragm. The base of the heart is located along the body s midline with the apex pointing toward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Myocardium makes up the majority of the thickness and mass of the heart wall and is the part of the heart responsible for pumping blood. Below the myocardium is the thin endocardium layer. Endocardium. Endocardium is the simple squamous endothelium layer that lines the inside of the heart. The endocardium is very smooth and is responsible for keeping blood from sticking to the inside of the heart and forming potentially deadly blood clots. Chambers of the Heart The heart contains 4 chambers: the right atrium, left atrium, right ventricle, and left ventricle. The atria are smaller than the ventricles and have thinner, less muscular walls than the ventricles. The atria act as receiving chambers for blood, so they are connected to the veins that carry blood to the heart. The ventricles are the larger, stronger pumping chambers that send blood out of the heart. The ventricles are connected to the arteries that carry blood away from the heart. The chambers on the right side of the heart are smaller and have less myocardium in their heart wall when compared to the left side of the heart. This difference in size between the sides of the heart is related to their functions and the size of the 2 circulatory loops. The right side of the heart maintains pulmonary circulation to the nearby lungs while the left side of the heart pumps blood all the way to the extremities of the body in the systemic circulatory ... • 5. Abraham Heschel s Definition Of Abraham Lincoln As A Prophet Abraham Lincoln The definition of a prophet, according to Abraham Heschel, is someone who is faithful to God, is passionate, and would risk their lives to spread the truth of God. Prophets like Isaiah were called to go on missions for God, to help people see, and he, with a passion, said Here Am I. Send Me. (Isaiah 6:8). In Jeremiah, God states that he is to be prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:4). Abraham Lincoln was 52 when he became President of the United States of America and became one of the most well known Presidents in United States history. • 7. Essay on Mise-en-scene in Citizen Kane and Persona Mise en scene in Citizen Kane and Persona Mise en scene is the principle by which a piece of film will derive its meaning wholly from what happens in the single shot and not from the relationship between two shots. For example the director might include shots with various composition, angle, depth, movement, and lighting. Citizen Kane has many good examples to show Mise on scene usage. The scene that I believe is the most significant and powerful mise en scene that I have this seen this semester exists in this movie. This occurs when the parents of the young boy are speaking with a gentleman in the house. As the people are speaking we see the boy playing in the snow as we look into the background through the window. This scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The camera is moving many times as the three people who seem to be the focus of the scene are moving. However, the real point of the shot lies with the boy in the background which is never not in the shot. Another movie that had a great impact on me was Persona. There were many important scenes in this film, but there was one example of mise en scene that sticks out in my mind. This is the scene when the nurse is chasing the actress along the seashore. The actress is walking swiftly away from her along rocks, while the nurse is trying her hardest to catch up to her. This scene comes directly after the nurse yells at the mute actress and slaps her across the face. It seems the whole movie she is trying to be nice to this woman and the one time that she stands up to her, she runs away. The nurse is begging for forgiveness. This scene really proves how weak the nurse is emotionally and mentally. She is sobbing and in a state of hysteria and the actress still will not forgive her. This reveals a lot of the actress s persona too. It shows that she does not really care much for the nurse, even though she is just trying to help her. The scene ends with the actress walking off and the nurse running in the opposite direction towards the water. She stumbles and cries and then the scene is over. This scene tells us, the audience a lot about the personality of both women not just in this scene but in their lives. The nurse is a caring woman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Quotes From The Messenger Messenger changed me in several ways. I would recommend this book to Taiya because I know she is reading the series and I want to encourage her to persevere, so I can have someone to talk about with. The first lesson I learned was that you have to face evil and destroy it, you can t let it slowly seep into you and others because it spreads like wildfire. This occurred throughout the novel, especially with the village as a whole and mentor. I believe that Trademaster was created to prove this point by Lois Lowry, evil and sin are sinister and will slowly creep into you and that s why you have to be on the lookout. Mentor is a prime example of this done wrong during Trademart. The second is to look beyond. This may sound odd, but I believe it is imperative to search for the ... Essay about Appalachia Culture Many people have different views on what Appalachia is, I grew up thinking that Appalachia meant people were dirty, poor, illiterate, inbreed and we also called them mountain people. As I grew up I realized that most of the things they went through and had a hard time with, I was dealing with the same problems. So what exactly is Appalachia? Well you will find out as you read on. Appalachia is no longer the land of severe poverty that it was three decades ago, now the poverty rate of one in 15 is close to the national average. Unfortunately mountain people didn t realize the implications of their mineral wealth. Many sold their land and mineral rights for pennies an acre to outlanders. Appalachians became laborers rather than entrepreneurs. Coal became a major industry which was extremely sensitive to outside fluctuations in the economy, leading to boom and bust cycles. The industry was controlled by interests outside the region, so that little of the profit remained or was reinvested. Appalachia is often portrayed as an arrested frontier, a geographically isolated subculture, and reservoir of culturally homogenous. Appalachians are pictured as proud, fiercely independent, and god fearing southerners. But in all reality they are portrayed as fighting and feuding, barefooted and backward, ignorant degenerates, downtrodden by centuries of isolation, inbreeding, and poverty. So how was Appalachia discovered? Well Appalachia was prompted in the mid 1870s by local color writers such as Mary Murfee and John Fox Jr. who explored in fiction and travel sketches such mountain themes as conflicting Civil War loyalties, moon shining, and feuding. The Allotment and Assimilation Era is one in which combines two drastic policies that being, Indian land allotment and assimilation into the American culture. At the time, they both seem like radical transformations however, it seems to me like the tribal communities were more affected by the allotment era. This is fundamentally because the tribal communities were broken up by family leaders and not just by their offspring like in the assimilation policy. The tribes could still function and survive without the children, but with the separation of the elders of the tribes many did not survive. The demise of the tribes was economic and affected the livelihood of each individual tribe. The splitting up of these people back then had a drastic impact directly because a lack of technological communication; The tribes could not function as a whole without their intra tribal communication. Another reason this was more direct was the direct loss of land. This loss was disastrous for tribes that solely relied on the resources. The boarding schools policy of this era had a longer lasting legacy on the tribes. Ultimately this is because the assimilation process took a greater amount of time to fully come into effect and really factor into the lives of the Indians. The culture loss and language loss is still in effect to some extent today, however there are methods of trying to reverse this. The oppression the students felt in turn affected their roles into American society and today their economic situations. The motivations by Pratt to start the assimilation at a young age was detrimental to their future generations who could not be raised by traditional methods. However, there were many inherent flaws in its making, which were addressed by a few different leaders. One of these problems was that for an amendment to be made to the Articles, every state would have to agree, and Rhode Island never sent delegates to conventions to discuss these amendments. Idealistically, Madison s ideas about government are possibly the best possible solution to the conflict of factions, yet in reality, Federalist No. 10 has been manipulated in ways that separate people more than unite them. While Madison is probably right in that republicanism is better than simply a popular democracy, his writing essentially did nothing but flip the party in power. Before, the power was held by the majority common people, which was bad because only their interests were being addressed, but after Madison wrote Federalist No. 10, the elite group was the group from which delegates were being elected. Madison was one of the property owners, and he feared that the common sort would prevent him from remaining in power so he had to switch the way the system worked. Through his rhetorical analysis he convinced the people that electing delegates was the way to go, and in the end only the members of the elite group were elected. He wanted a government that protected the rights of the rich property owners from the common sort and he was successful in doing so. Though anthropologists have an idea of when tattooing began, there is no evidence as to how the first tattoo was created. Reasons for Tattoos Reasons for getting a tattoo vary greatly. The three forces shaping human personality are the id, the ego, and the superego. Most of the interaction between the three occurs on the unconscious level, especially processes of the id and the superego (Seligman). The id, known as the pleasure principle, demands immediate gratification of desires. Infants are controlled solely by the id, and thus act whenever they feel any lack of their wants. To counteract the id is an internalization of societal demands in the superego. The superego strives to direct actions toward morality and socially acceptable actions. The superego corresponds to the everyday conscience that tells us when we are doing something bad. The tension between the id and superego is mediated by the ego, or the reality principle. The Industrial Revolution changed lives in every society it touched. It benefited for the rich as well as the poor, as well as the factory owners. Living in Rockville, Indiana, there is only one park available called Beechwood Park. It s a large park with a pool, baseball/softball fields, a picnic area, a basketball court, and of course a playground. The playground consists of many monkey bars, swing sets, slides, and other things to climb on, such as a dinosaur, a play house, and a fire truck. The dinosaur and play house are basic monkey bar type structures, but the fire truck offers many things like a balance beam, steering wheels, and extra benches to take a team of firemen. However, finding a day that had the amount of children my research consisted of was difficult. Finding a day with a birthday party or celebration was my only hope. On one sunny Saturday afternoon, I drove by and noticed a birthday party being set up, so I decided to stop and explain to the parents why I was sitting on a bench watching their children. Factors such as race, wealth, class, gender, age, among others all play roles into why people can sometimes be treated unfairly. However before I introspectively reflect on social inequality, there is one theory that suggests where today s society is heading for me. Karl Marx is known as a prominent economic and political influence that lived during the 19th century. Marx s theory of stratification is very applicable to where society, especially in the United States, is heading today. Why has that occurred? CEO s, professional athletes, actors ect. make most of the money earned in this country, leaving everyone else to work for them while they make a ridiculous income and the workers settle for just enough to have a modest lifestyle. The other day I was watching a film that promoted a similar theme to what I am trying to convey. The production was called In Time starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. Basically instead of money people were paid in time that they had left to live. In the movie we see a huge disparity in how different people live based on how much time they had. The important figures in their society used the time they had to manipulate everyone else because they could afford to give some away. This represents how money is influential in today s culture. Through outlets like social media, advertisements, and important public figures having money is portrayed as being paramount. However the opposite, if someone is living in poverty, something must be wrong with them or they aren t as valuable to the community. To create a successful, tolerant, and synergistic society money cannot determine someone s worth to society. Obviously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consumers may question, whether driverless driving features will offer an overall better option than driving themselves. Taking into account that failure of consumer acceptance entails considerable costs to companies (Chiesa Frattini, 2011). It is essential for organizations to understand under which circumstances customers accept autonomous cars. Acceptance and future use of new technologies are frequently subject to tradeoffs between uncertain benefits and costs of adopting the new invention (Venkatesh, Morris, Davis, Davis, 2003). Ralph is democratic and selfless, associated with order and control and tries to be fair. Jack, however, is a dictator, with a selfish leadership style, his priorities being only himself and hunting. Jack demands respect, whereas Ralph earns it. The point of this is to show that although two people may have the same qualities, the choices made by the people make a difference; it shows how the same person can turn out just because one chooses savagery and one chooses order and democracy. Ralph and Jack show the two kinds of mankind good and evil. Jack is the only boy whose last name we learn.
