Franklin Delano Roosevelt And The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time in history that our country was brought to the edge of financial
and emotional despair. There were many events that led to the great Depression, what were at the
important factors that brought the Depression to an end? A man by the name of Franklin Delano
Roosevelt was pivotal in bringing the nation a mindset of hope, his New Dealbrought about change
and the beginning of World War II all contributed to ending the Great Depression.
The collapse of the Stock Market in October 1929 began when 16,410,030 shares of stock were
sold off in a single day and the market lost $14 billion in value, nearly five times more than the
annual budget of the United States, capping off a week in which the market lost 39.6% of its value
between October 24th and October 29th. Many economists simply considered this part of the
normal business cycle and believed that intervening to stop or reverse it would cause even greater
problems. By July 8, 1932, when the market finally hit its bottom, it had lost a stunning 89% of its
pre crash October 23, 1929 value. ( )
Roosevelt is revered as one of the greatest men of the 20th century much because of his desire and
dedication to pulling the nation out of depression. Roosevelt won 42 of the 48 states and became
President in March 1933. In his inaugural address, Roosevelt stated the now famous line, The only
thing we have to fear is fear itself he went on to say that this fear was, nameless, unreasoning,

Attempts to Connect in Joyce Carol Oates Shopping Essay
Attempts to Connect in Shopping
Although Shopping, written by Joyce Carol Oates, is fiction, the story portrays a relationship that
represents many parents and children have in real life. The child is growing up and wants to spread
her wings. However, the parent usually does not want to let go. Arguments and the awkward
silences are frequent. The seemingly useless attempts to connect with the son or daughter are also
frequent. Yet, what the child does not realize is that no matter how old she may get, she is still the
parent s child. The mother is not going to forget how precious her little baby is, yet that is what the
mother does in this story. Oates uses references to pregnancy to portray the relationship between
mother and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This implies that at previous times, the conversation ended up in an argument. Nowadays, Mrs.
Dietrich just does not say a word, as if she is afraid that an argument could permanently end that
mother daughter relationship. This awkwardness is apparent throughout the story and prevents
Mrs. Dietrich from opening up to her daughter. Communication is critical if Mrs. Dietrich wants to
bond and achieve a close relationship with her daughter.
Throughout the story, images of pregnancy occur. These references portraythat intimate
relationship between a mother and daughter. Mrs. Dietrich saw herself as a beautiful and
rapturous woman when she was pregnant. She knew it would be a girl and that her baby would
be herself again, reborn and this time perfect (838). She referred to herself as someone who has
failed in life. She saw her daughter as an image of herself, but she did not want her daughter to
live a life of failure like her. She hoped her daughter would not grow to become the type of
person that she disliked. She wanted her to be perfect . Later in the story, while Nola is looking
at herself in the mirror, Mrs. Dietrich again pictures herself as pregnant. She liked how pregnancy
seemed to bring everything to the present tense. Mrs. Dietrich longs to have that feeling of when
she and her daughter were one again (838 9). At the end, Nola begins to cry when she sees an old
disheveled woman. Mrs. Dietrich s

The Lowell Work Force, And The Social Origins Of Women...
The first article was chapter three, The Lowell Work Force, 1836, and the Social Origins of
Women Workers from the book, Women at Work: The Transformation of Work and Community
in Lowell, Massachusetts, 1826 1860, written by Thomas Dublin. It paralleled nicely with the
article I chose which was, I Think Less of the Factory than of my Native Dell Labor, Nature, and
the Lowell Mill Girls from Environmental History, by Chad Montrie. The article, The Lowell
Work Force primarily discussed what type of people, predominately women, worked in the
Lowell mill. The information was neither new nor surprising for me. I had been to the Lowell
Mill museum before and most the information there was in the article. The women were young
women, from farming families, not yet married and mostly native born women, not immigrants.
What did surprise me was why they chose to work. I would have guessed that they worked to
earn wages to send home to help support their families, yet, that was rarely the case. Moving away
did lighten the family burden; however, that is not why these women left. They moved to work in
a factory so they could earn wages and use them for nonessential things, things that they wanted,
not needed. For many, the appeal of this might have been from the fact that growing up on a farm
with limited money, clothes were always homespun and they had few, if any, frivolous things. For
example, Sally Rice left home to earn something of my own, which was obviously not

Strict Dress Codes
Schools Should Not Have Dress codes
Between 2009 and 2010 19% of schools required uniforms and 57% of schools enforce a strict dress
code. Kids who follow a strict dress code policy at school are limited in expression. Many schools
think by having strict dress codes are safer and keep the focus on education, but enforcing a strict
dress code many times place the focus of school on clothing and rules, rather than education.
Schools should not have dress codes because they become gender bias, they stunt the growth of
individuality, and generally cost more.
When a girl is taken out of class on a hot day, for wearing a strappy top, because she is distracting
her male classmates, his education is prioritized over hers. When a school takes ... Show more

Differences Between Power And Authority
Question 1: Distinguish between power and authority. Do you believe the foundation of criminal
justice organizations is power or authority? Why? Give examples in everyday criminal justice life
that reflect the differences among these concepts.
Answer: According to Stojkovic, Kalinich, and Klofas (2015), power can be defined as A
construct that underscores that importance of how compliance among subordinates is achieved (p.
288). Power can be at both a person and organizational level and there are five forms, including
coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, referent power, and expert power (Stojkovic,
Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). In contrast, authority is demoting the compliance with particular directives
essential for achieving a common or shared goal (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015, p. 290). The
three forms of author include, traditional authority, charismatic authority, and legal authority
(Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). Power can become authority over time and authority is useful
for when individuals must be supervised within an organization (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015).
I believe the foundation of criminal justice organizations is authority because everyone is trying to
attain the same goal and be successful (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). If power is distributed
among too many employees, then that could lead to role conflict (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas,
2015). It is important to have supervisors with authority over

Conflict, Irony, and Symbolism in Alice Walker s Everyday Use
In the short story Everyday Use , by Alice Walker, tension between characters is evident. When
Dee arrives home to visit Mama and Maggie, readers can see the differences in personality
between the three characters. Dee has changed her name to Wangero to get closer to her so
called culture and is collecting many objects of her past that she did not want before. On her
mother s savings for her, Dee is able to go to college and therefore is more educated. However, she
uses this new knowledge to look down on Maggie and Mama. One of the many objects of her past
that Dee asks for is a quilt passed down to the females of the next generation. Instead, Mama wants
Maggie to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Mama says, You know as well as me you was named after your aunt Dicie. Dicie is my sister.
She named you Dee. This is a little ironic. Even the mysterious boy she brings home, Hakim a
barber, has converts to Islamic ways but chooses only to accept certain doctrines of the religion
when he refuses to eat collard greens and pork. As he says, I accept some of their doctrines, but
farming and raising cattle is not my style. The irony is that it might not be a style , but how Mama
and Maggie have to live. They would not think of this as a style.
Finally, the story in its entirety is symbolism itself. The quilts are the main sources of symbolism
are the quilts, in how each piece of the quilt tells about the life of each member of a different
generation of the family. With Dee s new attitude, how would she use the quilts? Hang them , she
says. Like the quilts had little to no meaning to her at all. Dee says that Maggie cannot
understand her heritage and cannot appreciate these quilts. Magnanimously, Maggie agrees that
Dee can have them so as not to start a conflict. She says, I can member Grandma Dee without the
quilts. This shows that Maggie is more appreciative of her true heritage than Dee is. Dee believes
getting in touch with your roots is a new style of some sort. Dee doesn t consider that the very
aunt who gave her, her name is the one who made the quilts by hand. She only wants it to have as
art. Another thing is how Dee discards her name

Analysis Of May Swenson s Poem The Centaur
May Swenson s Common Denominator Imagine reading a poem and believing it means one thing,
but the underlying message is something completely different. Authors like to use different literary
techniques to make a valid point, to make the reader feel a certain emotion, or even to share a
distinct memory with their reader. Poetryhas helped authors focus their readers on their work by
achieving themes that may portrayed in several pieces of their work. In May Swenson s case,
she used a variety of techniques to create different emotions for the reader, while expressing
certain periods of her life. May Swenson uses nature in her poetry to personify sexuality and make
it into a repetitive theme in her work. Many of Swenson s critics can agree... Show more content on

As Swenson tries to connect the little girl riding a horse to a more private and personal scene, it
can be agreed that she is using this as an allegory that creates the poem s theme. In addition to the
previous poem, Swenson also uses the same method to create and capture the same feeling and
emotion. In her poem Sleeping with Boa, Swenson again uses a personified form of nature to
render her risky sexual theme. A perfect example of how she creates this image is when she
states, She likes my stroking hand. And she even lets me kiss. Swenson successfully conceives a
sexual imagery while standing by a simplistic nature based poem. Jumping off the bed, she
shows me her behind, is a line that describes the boa leaving her owner and the owner showing
admiration. This erotic imagery expressed in her poem serves as a representation of recognition
of desire and the willingness the two characters express while they share that desire amongst
themselves. There is a connection between the two main characters, the narrator and its pet, which
causes this to be analyzed as a more sensual relationship rather than the ordinary pet/owner
relationship. Swenson uses the boa, a reptile which is often feared by many, to show that even
something so powerful can be delicate when it comes to a relationship like this. It is almost as if
she would like that fear to be forgotten and

Historical Development Of Financial Accounting Theory
To understand the fair value accounting concept, an understanding of the foundation of accounting
is where it is today is needed. This information provides a guideline of how the first conceptual
ideas of accounting first began and changed overtime to accommodate the ever increasing changes
with investment options along with lobbying efforts of individuals. The FASB s Statement of
Financial Accounting Concepts (SFAC) No. 8 indicates that the primary purpose of financial
reporting is to provide financial information about the reporting entity that is useful to present and
potential equity investors, lenders, and other creditors in making decisions about providing
resources to the entity (Schroeder, Clark, Cathey, 2014 p. 184). With... Show more content on

Philadelphia opened the first stock market in 1790 which was later followed by the New York
Stock Exchange in 1792 with Bank of New York being the first list stock. With incomes increasing,
individuals had disposal income to start investing with. As America went west, railroad stocks
became hot commodities which caused investors to invest heavily in. By the 1900 s accounting
organizations started to increase and strive for the recognition of professionalism. During this time,
University s started to offer classes on accounting for individuals looking for a business career in
accounting. The accounting profession s turning point came with the stock market crashed in 1929.
Following this event the Securities and Exchange commission was created to administer various
securities acts and to prescribe accounting principles and reporting practices (Schroeder, et. al,
2014, p. 6). Subsequently, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) was
given the opportunity to create accounting standards for companies to follow. But dissidence
cropped up as disagreements arose with how members would be selected and the timeframe it took
to bring the potential regulations to the public. By 1973, the Financial Accounting Standards Board
(FASB) was designated as the organization within the private sector for establishing standards of

Outsourcing American Jobs Essay
Introduction Outsourcing of American jobs overseas is displacing American s in the United
States. American blue collar workers and the Middle Class American will soon be a word of the
past if the US government continues outsourcing the low skill jobs overseas.
One of the concerns in regards to the outsourcing of jobs is that wages of American jobs versus the
wages of the Chinese, Japanese, Indians and Philippians are much less. If these workers were
using the same identical technology and having the same identical skills were paid the same
wages, there would be no problem. (Greene, 2006) It s also believed that if the US continues to

It is a concept that has evolved from a manufacturing perspective to a strategic perspective, which
views the concept as a way for organizations to focus and be more competitive. The basic premise
of outsourcing is that a specialist organization can perform a particular service more efficiently
than can internal operations because a specialist organization has an inherent advantage in
producing and delivering a service. Superior technology, management skills, or economies of
scale may contribute to this perception. The type of sourcing relationship depends on whether a
long term or short term need exists. To save funds used for benefits for regular employees,
temporary workers are hired. In this case, the organization (outsourcer) provides all necessary
resources except the workers, who are provided by the vendor. For long term services, the vendor
has full responsibility for delivering the service; the outsourcer provides only a liaison.
The Negative As with so many global trends, there is significant disagreement over the implications
of global competition in services for American prosperity and competitiveness. Many people are
pessimistic about the impact of offshore outsourcing at a time when American workers are having
more difficulty finding employment, since it creates personal hardships, reduces the tax base and
increases demands on our safety nets. Competitors from lower wage nations, it is feared, could put

Should the 22nd Amendment Be Repealed
In the political world today there are so many different opinions about several different topics. The
topics that I will address to you will be, should the 22nd Amendment be repealed and also should
the foreign born be allowed to run for president. In both topics you may have your pros and cons,
but I am strongly against the both of them because I feel that the Constitution should not be taken
advantage of. Government should not be allowed to manipulate the Constitution to suit his or her

issues are just a test to see if the American people will allow such changes to take place without
having input on it. In addition, it could become a test of American attitudes toward immigrants in
the post 9/11 era, and also put some more thought into the topic of interest. I am totally against it

Extrinsic Analysis Of Mythologies By R. L. Futrell
Introduction
The flash fiction selection I chose for my performance is the story Mythologies written by R. L.
Futrell. I chose this story initially because of the title, having an interest in most cultures
mythologies and stories I started to read the story. However, upon reading the story I was drawn
in by the world surrounding the text. A single paragraph of context is all that is given about why
the story is being told. The rest is dedicated to a boring drive to West Virginia and the trivialities
of the expedition and the sights, smells, and sounds of the world around them. The apparent lack
of a central message is what really drew me towards the story.
Extrinsic Analysis
R. L. Futrell is an author who lives in Xenia, Ohio is known for his works Virginia Adversaria,
Zone 3, Harpur Palate, The Cresset Review, Flights!, Poetry Motel, Square Lake, The Tar Wolf
Review, and 88: A Journal of Literature and Fine Arts. He also teaches creative writing Cedarville
University. In his story he mentions the two stories The Five Ages of Manand the Flood and
Prometheus, which are quite telling of the meaning of the story. As with the story the area
around the road they are driving on is flooding, not with water however but with rocks and guilt.

Samaid Meals Analysis
A 43 year old woman lies about her age and falls for a younger man who doesn t know the truth.
STORY COMMENTS
SALAD DAYS is a script that presents with an enjoyable, high concept premise. The idea of an
older woman pretending to be a younger woman and lying to her boyfriend/husband is a great
setup for comedy, conflict, and character development. One can envision the antics and capers the
protagonist will endure to keep her age a secret. Plenty of humor can be generated.
The script has the opportunity to examine themes about ageless love and the age gap between men
and women.
While the concept is solid, the first act requires more development.

The scene in the hospital with the baby works better without the added dialogue. Just the visual of
Suzy holding the baby is needed, vs. Valentino asking her Want a baby too?
Create a separate scene about being evicted versus the same scene with them in the car.
Suzy is sweet. She s definitely good hearted and likable. She s insecure and this makes her
vulnerable. She has inner conflict about her age. She has good potential to be a comedic
character, but continue to develop her comedic side by showing how she covers up the truth about
her age. Make sure to identify how she grows as a character and how her feelings about her age
changes.
Bob and Diane are both great sidekicks. They sound and act like natural comedic characters.

that. To create tension and chemistry there has to be resistance. He becomes way too immature and

Secondly, the difference between actual and estimated returns is less than 5%, (FASB ASC 250 10

responding to complaints and the high rate of returns, relationships with customers increased and

Greek And Roman Mythology
Greek and Roman Mythology
Since the dawn of time, different societies have worshiped gods, believing in their power and
being afraid of their fury. People have prayed and made sacrifices in order to achieve the gods
mercy and generosity. They believed that, if the gods are in good mood, they will provide people
with good weather conditions for growing crops. People needed explanations for different natural
phenomena, such as rain, drought, lightning, thunder and earthquake. So, ancient people believed
that these natural phenomena are caused by the gods. A good example of such societies could be

Romans call these twelve main gods and goddesses as follows: Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Mars, Feb,
Mercury, Volcano, Juno, Minerva, Venus, Diana, and Bacchus. They are the same gods and
goddesses with same powers, but with different names.
Even though the Roman religion is based on the Greek religion, there are number of differences
between gods of these societies. Romans have not just adopted their religion from Greeks. They
have also changed their religion according to their culture. So, if you read about Rome and
Greek gods and goddesses, you will see differences in their names. Romans gave their gods
names that are different from names of Greek gods. Thus, there are only few Greek and Roman
gods and goddesses that have similar names. Usually Roman gods and goddesses have names of
planets of the sun system, such as Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune and Mars. In contrast, Greek gods and
goddesses have their own names, such as Zeus, Hermes, Ares and Hera. For example, the goddess
of love is Venus in Roman mythology and Aphrodite in Greek mythology. Romans call the god of
war Mars, while Greeks call Ares. The god of sea is called Neptune in Roman mythology and
Poseidon in Greek mythology.
Furthermore, if you read about Roman and Greek gods, you will notice differences in characters
of gods and goddesses. Gods and goddesses usually have characters similar to people that believe

Matthew Mark And Luke
Introduction
The Gospels Matthew, Mark and Luke are referred to as the Synoptic Gospels because they share
a common vision of the life of Jesus. Among the fundamental issues of Gospel scholarship is the
question of their literary relationship. Because they are so alike, the question that arises is whether
any of the Gospel authors had access to the other Gospels and other potential sources to compose
their own. This paper will provide an overview of the hypothetical missing Gospel designated Q
after the German word Quelle, meaning source and if it impacts the historical reliability of the New
Testament.
What is Source Criticism?
The intention of source criticism is to expose earlier sources that may have been utilized in the
development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Source Q is the only one that is common to Luke and Mathew. Scholars assume that Q existed
due to the large portions of Luke and Matthew are essentially identical to each other and that are
not found in Mark. While an explanation for this may be that Luke copied Matthew (or vice
versa) it would not explain the problem of why these two Gospels radically differ from one
another on other respects. If either Luke or Matthew derived their Gospel from the other, then it
would be expected that far more common material and shared themes would be present.
Therefore the majority of scholars hypothesize that Matthew and Luke shared source Q in
addition to the Gospel of Mark. Modern scholarship on Q considers it not as a single source but
instead a set of shorter sayings all of which may not have been utilized by Matthew and Luke. No
manuscript of Q has ever been found but its assumed existence is well

Hybrid Vs. Electric Cars
Hybrid vs. Electric
When hearing the words gas, hybrid and electric, people automatically think of automobiles.. [this
is a very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...]
People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to
be able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in
the United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great
mileage and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically
powered car has recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology
powered cars, such as the Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered
vehicles, such as Tesla s Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers
the vehicle.
The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created.
These vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one
fifth of the United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation
contributed with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse
gasses that cars emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is
trap heat in the Earth s atmosphere leading to the atmospheric temperature rising. Global warming

Moonshining In The Carolinas
Moonshining in the Carolinas Are you proud of your heritage? Moonshine making can be found in
many southern family s heritage. According to Ed Grabianowski, the prohibition of the 1920 s
increased the demand for moonshine. This increased the number of people making moonshine for a
living. While moonshining in the Carolinas is fascinating to some, others may ask: what is
moonshine, is it dangerous, and can people still find it today in our society? According to

Tartrazine Experiment
In eighth grade, while on a school run food interest trip, I learned the significance of ingredients and
nutrition in food. One of the activities was to differentiate between fresh ramen noodles and instant
noodles by scrutinizing the ingredients and nutritional labels as well as by taste testing. Upon
inspection, there were several recurring ingredients such as the coloring agent tartrazine. Later that
day, a bolt of curiosity surged through me, and an Internet search on tartrazine forever changed the
way I looked at food.
What I found shocked me. Articles full of evidence indicated the harmful effects of the coloring
agent, ranging from allergic reactions to hyperactivity in children. As a result, I was compelled to

Helmet jellyfish is a prime example the cnidarian species. Although it is a direct relation to other

Helmet Jellyfishis radially symmetrical, meaning they can be cut into equal part at any point

This type of symmetry is common to this species as they are an older and less developed group of
creatures. The Helmet Jellyfish moves as the typical jellyfish does, radial deltoid muscles in the

Walt Disney effected most Americans, weather during his lifetime or after. He engaged
audiences of all ages with his creations. The public adored Mickey Mouse debut in 1928s
Steamboat Willie. Walt continued off this sensational hit with Silly Symphonies in 1929. Silly
Symphonies does no only feature Mickey, but Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto.
He also took part in World War II by making cartoons. One of these cartoons was Der Fuehrer s
Face, where we see Donald Duck dream of being in a world controlled by Nazis. He starts off his
day by saying Hail Hitler and eating a less than adequate breakfast then going to work in a heavily
guarded factory. Der Fuehrer s Face won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Subject in
1943. Mr. Disney also created training films for the army. One of these training films is Stop that

of imaging in the initial diagnosis and the subsequent follow up.
The NHS have found that bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, with
around 40,000 new cases being diagnosed every single year. This means that approximately 1 in
every 20 people will develop bowel cancer at some point within their lifetime. However, the
earlier it is detected, the higher the rate of successful treatment and survival. This is why bowel

theory is true. Since we cannot assume that we have a special place in the universethis is evidence

Theory says this is energy created at the beginning of the universe, just after the Big Bang, and
that has been travelling through space ever since (BBC Stars and the origins of the Universe).
This quote states that there are microwaves going in every direction in space, and that the
microwaves are tied to one of the Big Bangs sayings. One of the sayings was that energy was
created at the beginning of the universe after the event of the explosion. So, since microwaves
were coming from space after the explosion it helps prove that the theory is correct. In addition, the
microwave radiation is also known as cosmic microwave background radiation. These radiations
that travels through all of space helps show that the cosmic microwave background radiation
supports the Big Bang theory. Lastly, After the Big Bang scientists discovered a heat signature of

Speech On Discipline
Discipline is a highly sought after quality in work, school, sports, and in almost everything.
Without discipline, there can be no success or spiritual growth. With discipline comes success;
discipline also means doing things most people do not want to do. Luther talks about the
importance discipline in his writings. He says in freedom of a Christian, Here then the works
begin; here he must not take his ease; here he must give heed to exercise his body by fastings,
watchings, labour, and other regular discipline, so that it may be subdued to the spirt, and obey
and conform itself to the inner man and faith and not rebel against nor hinder them, as is its
nature to do if it is not kept under (Luther). He is saying discipline is really important to
controlling the body and not the other way around. Have discipline in the daily tasks or smaller
tasks, and there will be discipline in the more important tasks or bigger tasks. What is the
definition of Discipline, one might ask? Merriam Webster defines discipline as, training that
corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character (Discipline). Discipline is so
important to life, without it nothing would get done. One thing is for sure, not everyone is born
with natural talent; everyone has the ability to be disciplined and work hard in their everyday
tasks. The Apostle Paul says No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on,
however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for

A Reflection On Spirituality Assessment Essay
Introduction Spirituality is a very sensitive topic in any area of the world and when discussing it
with a patient is such a vulnerable situation, it becomes even more delicate. It is a topic which can
affect the outlook of the patient and how they will get through their condition. A spirituality
assessment is important because spirituality is such a powerful thing which can help a person turn
a terrible situation into something more bearable. It is vital for nurses to use this tool to help them
because it goes beyond medications and intubation trays, it focuses on them as a person. A
spirituality assessment is a tool which will help patients on critical care units get through there
vulnerable moment in life.
Implementation Plan
When trying to implement my spirituality assessment in critical care, I would use Rogers change
theory which has five different steps; awareness, interest, evaluation, trial, and adoption (Mitchell,
2013). Each of these steps are very important to the success of the spirituality assessment. During
the awareness step it is important to identify the importance of the spirituality assessment on the
critical care unit. I would explain how spirituality plays an important part in caring for a patient
because of the impact it has on the decision they will make (Savel Munro, 2014). I would try to
make the stakeholders aware of the influence spirituality will have on the patients on critical care
units. I would open their eyes to see the toll those

Allusions Of Allusions In Blake s The Garden Of Love
Short exercise paper #1 Blake s lyrical poem The Garden of Love contains several allusions that
reference the first book in the Bible Genesis . During this paper, I will be discussing one instance
where Blake s poem alludes to Genesis 3. To summarize, there are several instances in which
Blake s poem The Garden of Love alludes to Genesis, of these I chose to focus on the chapel built
in the midst and its connection to Eve s interaction with the Serpent.
Blake s poem begins with the speaker visiting the Garden of Love during which they discover, A
chapel was built in the midst. The speaker points out that this chapel is built/where I used to play
all of this happens during the first stanza. The speaker does not indicate they watched the chapel
built in fact; the speaker almost seems shocked by its presence, saw what I had never seen and it
becomes clear whatever this chapel is it has altered how the speaker will continue to interact with
the garden, built in the midst/where I used to play on the green . It is important to realize this
chapel not only altered the garden itself, but also, has essentially replaced the green so; instead of
play, there is this chapel .
During the third book of Genesis, a dialogue happens concerning Eve and the Serpent. The Serpent
questions Eve about the garden to which she replies, We may eat of the fruit of the trees...But of
the fruit of the tree which is in the midst...Ye shall not eat...lest ye die (Genesis 3:3). To

Succinate Dehydrogenase Lab
Introduction
In this Succinate Dehydrogenase (SDH) project, we were expected to learn the process of cell
fractionation, the importance of the Bradford assay, how enzymes work what factors affect them,
how to adequately micropipette, how to generate a proper hypothesis and test it, and finally,
interpret our results and write a conclusion which answers the central question of this lab: how will
the assigned reagent affect SDH activity?
The SDH project was completed over a span of three weeks, where we had a primary
concentration each week that revolved around a core principal of this project. In week two, which
was the first week of this project, we blended and centrifuged our cell fractions in order to isolate

curve and equation for it, which was used to determine the protein concentration in our cellular
fractions. The data from the cellular fractions was used to discover the amount of specific SDH
activity in lysates. Furthermore, we also conducted the SDH assay in order to gain proper and
knowledgeable experience about how to assess SDH activity for our crude and mitochondrial
cellular fractions, and we also worked with enzymes to further learn about how they work and how
they are affected through various factors. The second week of this lab was rather heavy; it had
many components to it, each equally important for our end result and conclusion. The concentration
in week two was on the Bradford assay, which was imperative since it measured protein
concentration, and practicing with the SDH assay, which measured the activity of our crude and
mitochondrial fractions, and was therefore vital in the final week of the project.
During the final week of the project, we performed the SDH assay twice to test our hypothesis and
answer the primary question of this project: the impact of the assigned reagent (Malonate for us)
on SDH activity in our mitochondrial fraction. Week three s concentration was on correctly
performing the SDH assay twice in order to minimize human error, and to interpret our data for our

Rate Of Reaction Between Hydrochloric Acid And Sodium T
Experimental Investigation Rate of Reaction
Research Topic:
The topic includes the effect of concentration and temperature on the rate of reaction between
hydrochloric acid (HCl) and Sodium Thiosulphate (Hypo solution). There are multiple ways to test
the rate of reaction between two substances, however the experiment we will be conducting
involves placing a conical flask directly over a black coloured x and recording the time it takes for
the x to become invisible after the two solutions react with each other. This is simple and direct as
multiple tests can be undertaken at different concentration levels and multiple temperatures.

Aim:
The overall aim of this experimental investigation is to further research and investigate the factors
of temperature and concentration and how these two elements can alter or change the speed or rate
of a reaction. The aim will be investigated thoroughly, with multiple experiments being conducted to
ultimately fulfil this aim, with as much detail and data as possible so an in depth conclusion can be
delivered.
Hypothesis:
It is hypothesised that when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is increased,
the speed of the reaction will also increase, whereas when the temperature at which the chemical
reaction takes place is decreased, the speed of the reaction will decrease. This hypothesis correlates
to the investigation because when the Hydrochloric acid is at a higher temperature, the solution that
is mixed with it, in this case Sodium Thiosulphate, the rate at which the reaction occurs will be
much faster. Whereas, when the temperature of the Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the Sodium
Thiosulphate solution that will be mixed in will result in the rate at which the reaction occurs being
much slower. It is also hypothesised that when the concentration of a solution in a chemical reaction
is increased, the speed of the reaction increases. Whereas, on the other hand, when the concentration
of the solution in the chemical reaction is decreased, the speed at which the reaction occurs will be
far slower. This

stop to existing wars between each other (Hdt. VII.145.1) in order to fight against Persia. However,
only one Peloponnesian state (Sparta) offered help throughout the wars.
Argos received an excuse from the Delphic oracle to keep it from battle (Hdt. VII.148 152), and
Messene was so corrupted that [it] even tried to prevent Sparta s attempts to come to Greece s
aid (Plato, 692d). Other city states avoided participation in the wars as well. The oracle also
excused Crete from fighting (Hdt. VII.169), and the tyrant Gelon of Syracuse refused to let his
state help Greece s cause (Brunt 158 162). If these poleis had chosen to fight, the Persians may
have been intimidated by the large Greek forces and avoided war. The Greeks instead presented an
image of a nation torn by cowardice, thereby making the Persians more confident in attacking
Greece. This lack of unity among the city states created some

How Is Soma Used In Brave New World
When reading the novel, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, it is unmistakably evident that the
use of stimulants (soma) is the leading source of the society s happiness. Drugs and medicine are
used in both societies in many comparable and contrasting ways. Our soma takes a different form
than it does in Brave New World, but a lot of the results are the same. The most common
similarity between the use of drugs in the two societies is the purpose of the drug is use. This
motive is for escaping reality. In Brave New World, all citizens in the society take soma
whenever they are stressed or emotional. This medication keeps all negative thoughts off a
person s mind, basically creating a blindness to everything around them that is corrupt. Linda,
one of the characters in the book who was from the Brave New World but lived with the savages,
shows a little bit of how soma is used in today s society when she becomes alcohol dependent.
When she no longer had access to soma, she turned to alcohol (also referred to as mescal in the
novel) as an escape from all the atrocious things she had to experience at the savage reservation
(Brave New World 125). In today s society people, especially young people, use alcohol and other
drugs to mask the unhappiness they have in their lives. Teenagers consider... Show more content on

Liking Is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts”
Liking Is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts
We live in a world where the internet and social media plays a big role. There are constantly
becoming less and less physical contact, and fewer face to face relations. This is demonstrated
by the fact that we keep in touch with each other over Facebook, shopping takes place over the
internet, we keep up with our economy whit online banking and meet friends and lovers over
online dating sites. In late modern society, we are always available. But are we really missing out
on a lot of important stuff, and is this necessarily a bad thing? This is also the theme in Jonathan
Franzen s essay, Liking is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts from 2011. The focus in this essay will
be on how Jonathan Franzen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He makes sure that it is interesting and fun for the young generation to read his essay, he is
doing this by the personal stories and fun comparisons, but also by using words and phenomena
the young readers can relate to, for an example he uses words as liking and friending , Liking, in
general, is commercial culture s substitute for loving (p.9, l. 83 85) phenomena s from facebook.
On the other hand Jonathan Franzen also uses some foreign words as carbon foodprint ,
anesthetized dream by using these foreign words he makes sure to seem smart , so we get the
feeling of a person who knows what he is talking about, and on the other hand also a fun and
interesting person. This is again something that strengthens his ethos appeal, so it is easier for him
to convince and engage the young readers. If he was writing in a way with no humor, only foreign
words, and maybe used a lot of statistics facts, instead of personal stories, he would not engage the
young readers. So by writing in this very specific way, he knows that the youngster will find his
essay fun and interesting. So as you see Jonathan Franzen uses a lot of different methods to
convince and engage the young readers.
Jonathan Franzen s main message is that, the young generation should spend more time in the real
world instead of the world of liking . He wants the young readers to understand

Aluminum Foils
Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had
failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was
Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used
to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the
group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the
requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the
weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts
of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final
presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum
foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time,
Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans,
Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a
pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off....

Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface areaof this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from
the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous
design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward
angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its
insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the
group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the
designs on each

How Does Arthur Miller Create A Social Commentary On The...
Arthur Miller was an brilliant play writer pulling together brilliant works like The Death of a
Salesman , All My Sons , and the well known Crucible . Throughout Arthur Miller s social reflective
commentary, through the Crucible using precise symbolism, about when power that s intent was
for a select few is made public due to an fear of an unknown the public itself leads into hysteria and
resorts to McCarthyistic answers. Millers symbolistic use throughout the Crucible provided inisight
on his modern day communist hunts and what had led them to such monstrosities. Through the
book Salem, Massachusettshad undergone three major theocratic changes of power, in the
beginning we are told that Rebecca Nurse, a prominent figure in their church, brick and mortar of

The importance of the Nurses rule over Salem was that it was defined by how the people looked
to her not because they had to but because they wanted too and how the Nurses demonstrated the
best society has to give. The second and most current theocratic power was displayed by
Reverend Parris when the book first starts off. Reverend Parris s power over Salem was
displayed by golden candlesticks (Miller A.2 Pg 62). The change in theocratic rule is displayed
by the change in the symbols, Rebecca Nurses brick and mortar give an sense of community and
strength while Reverend Parris s golden candlesticks is an symbol of singular power as a
candlestick requires all but one hand and the gold represents wealth and greed which are all
extensions of Parris. The change in symbols show the increase of corruption as the power is given
to a select few, very similar in Arthur Miller s communist hunts. The last change in theocratic
power over Salem can be seen throughout MIllers symbolism of Abigail. Abigail had used the
power of witch accusations to

  • 2. Franklin Delano Roosevelt And The Great Depression The Great Depression was a time in history that our country was brought to the edge of financial and emotional despair. There were many events that led to the great Depression, what were at the important factors that brought the Depression to an end? A man by the name of Franklin Delano Roosevelt was pivotal in bringing the nation a mindset of hope, his New Dealbrought about change and the beginning of World War II all contributed to ending the Great Depression. The collapse of the Stock Market in October 1929 began when 16,410,030 shares of stock were sold off in a single day and the market lost $14 billion in value, nearly five times more than the annual budget of the United States, capping off a week in which the market lost 39.6% of its value between October 24th and October 29th. Many economists simply considered this part of the normal business cycle and believed that intervening to stop or reverse it would cause even greater problems. By July 8, 1932, when the market finally hit its bottom, it had lost a stunning 89% of its pre crash October 23, 1929 value. ( ) Roosevelt is revered as one of the greatest men of the 20th century much because of his desire and dedication to pulling the nation out of depression. Roosevelt won 42 of the 48 states and became President in March 1933. • 3. Attempts to Connect in Joyce Carol Oates Shopping Essay Attempts to Connect in Shopping Although Shopping, written by Joyce Carol Oates, is fiction, the story portrays a relationship that represents many parents and children have in real life. The child is growing up and wants to spread her wings. However, the parent usually does not want to let go. Arguments and the awkward silences are frequent. The seemingly useless attempts to connect with the son or daughter are also frequent. Yet, what the child does not realize is that no matter how old she may get, she is still the parent s child. The mother is not going to forget how precious her little baby is, yet that is what the mother does in this story. This implies that at previous times, the conversation ended up in an argument. Nowadays, Mrs. Dietrich just does not say a word, as if she is afraid that an argument could permanently end that mother daughter relationship. This awkwardness is apparent throughout the story and prevents Mrs. Dietrich from opening up to her daughter. Communication is critical if Mrs. Dietrich wants to bond and achieve a close relationship with her daughter. Throughout the story, images of pregnancy occur. These references portraythat intimate relationship between a mother and daughter. Mrs. Dietrich saw herself as a beautiful and rapturous woman when she was pregnant. She knew it would be a girl and that her baby would be herself again, reborn and this time perfect (838). She referred to herself as someone who has failed in life. She saw her daughter as an image of herself, but she did not want her daughter to live a life of failure like her. She hoped her daughter would not grow to become the type of person that she disliked. She wanted her to be perfect . Later in the story, while Nola is looking at herself in the mirror, Mrs. Dietrich again pictures herself as pregnant. She liked how pregnancy seemed to bring everything to the present tense. Mrs. Dietrich longs to have that feeling of when she and her daughter were one again (838 9). At the end, Nola begins to cry when she sees an old disheveled woman. Mrs. Dietrich s ... The first article was chapter three, The Lowell Work Force, 1836, and the Social Origins of Women Workers from the book, Women at Work: The Transformation of Work and Community in Lowell, Massachusetts, 1826 1860, written by Thomas Dublin. It paralleled nicely with the article I chose which was, I Think Less of the Factory than of my Native Dell Labor, Nature, and the Lowell Mill Girls from Environmental History, by Chad Montrie. The article, The Lowell Work Force primarily discussed what type of people, predominately women, worked in the Lowell mill. The information was neither new nor surprising for me. I had been to the Lowell Mill museum before and most the information there was in the article. The women were young women, from farming families, not yet married and mostly native born women, not immigrants. What did surprise me was why they chose to work. I would have guessed that they worked to earn wages to send home to help support their families, yet, that was rarely the case. Moving away did lighten the family burden; however, that is not why these women left. They moved to work in a factory so they could earn wages and use them for nonessential things, things that they wanted, not needed. For many, the appeal of this might have been from the fact that growing up on a farm with limited money, clothes were always homespun and they had few, if any, frivolous things. For example, Sally Rice left home to earn something of my own, which was obviously not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Differences Between Power And Authority Question 1: Distinguish between power and authority. Do you believe the foundation of criminal justice organizations is power or authority? Why? Give examples in everyday criminal justice life that reflect the differences among these concepts. Answer: According to Stojkovic, Kalinich, and Klofas (2015), power can be defined as A construct that underscores that importance of how compliance among subordinates is achieved (p. 288). Power can be at both a person and organizational level and there are five forms, including coercive power, reward power, legitimate power, referent power, and expert power (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). In contrast, authority is demoting the compliance with particular directives essential for achieving a common or shared goal (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015, p. 290). The three forms of author include, traditional authority, charismatic authority, and legal authority (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). Power can become authority over time and authority is useful for when individuals must be supervised within an organization (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). I believe the foundation of criminal justice organizations is authority because everyone is trying to attain the same goal and be successful (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). If power is distributed among too many employees, then that could lead to role conflict (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2015). It is important to have supervisors with authority over ... As Swenson tries to connect the little girl riding a horse to a more private and personal scene, it can be agreed that she is using this as an allegory that creates the poem s theme. In addition to the previous poem, Swenson also uses the same method to create and capture the same feeling and emotion. In her poem Sleeping with Boa, Swenson again uses a personified form of nature to render her risky sexual theme. A perfect example of how she creates this image is when she states, She likes my stroking hand. And she even lets me kiss. Swenson successfully conceives a sexual imagery while standing by a simplistic nature based poem. Jumping off the bed, she shows me her behind, is a line that describes the boa leaving her owner and the owner showing admiration. This erotic imagery expressed in her poem serves as a representation of recognition of desire and the willingness the two characters express while they share that desire amongst themselves. There is a connection between the two main characters, the narrator and its pet, which causes this to be analyzed as a more sensual relationship rather than the ordinary pet/owner relationship. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a concept that has evolved from a manufacturing perspective to a strategic perspective, which views the concept as a way for organizations to focus and be more competitive. The basic premise of outsourcing is that a specialist organization can perform a particular service more efficiently than can internal operations because a specialist organization has an inherent advantage in producing and delivering a service. Superior technology, management skills, or economies of scale may contribute to this perception. The type of sourcing relationship depends on whether a long term or short term need exists. To save funds used for benefits for regular employees, temporary workers are hired. In this case, the organization (outsourcer) provides all necessary resources except the workers, who are provided by the vendor. For long term services, the vendor has full responsibility for delivering the service; the outsourcer provides only a liaison. The Negative As with so many global trends, there is significant disagreement over the implications of global competition in services for American prosperity and competitiveness. I chose this story initially because of the title, having an interest in most cultures mythologies and stories I started to read the story. However, upon reading the story I was drawn in by the world surrounding the text. A single paragraph of context is all that is given about why the story is being told. The rest is dedicated to a boring drive to West Virginia and the trivialities of the expedition and the sights, smells, and sounds of the world around them. If either Luke or Matthew derived their Gospel from the other, then it would be expected that far more common material and shared themes would be present. Therefore the majority of scholars hypothesize that Matthew and Luke shared source Q in addition to the Gospel of Mark. Modern scholarship on Q considers it not as a single source but instead a set of shorter sayings all of which may not have been utilized by Matthew and Luke. No manuscript of Q has ever been found but its assumed existence is well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

[this is a very clunky opening rewrite it I think people do know those are the three main types of cars...] People buy hybrid or electric cars because they either want to save money on gas or they want to be able to help the environment with their vehicles. One of the most popular hybrid vehicles in the United States is the Toyota Prius, which, compared to a normal gas powered car, has great mileage and reduced fuel emissions. The popularity of the Tesla Model S a fully electrically powered car has recently skyrocketed due to the increase in gas prices. Hybrid technology powered cars, such as the Toyota Prius, are better for the environment than fully electric powered vehicles, such as Tesla s Model S, because of the emissions created by the electricity that powers the vehicle. The gas powered vehicle has been a problem for the environment since the day it was created. These vehicles emit greenhouse gasses that are detrimental towards the environment. Nearly one fifth of the United States total fuel emissions come from gas powered cars. In 2012 transportation contributed with 28% of total greenhouse emissions in the United States. One of the greenhouse gasses that cars emit is Carbon Dioxide. What greenhouse gases including Carbon Dioxide do is trap heat in the Earth s atmosphere leading to the atmospheric temperature rising. With discipline comes success; discipline also means doing things most people do not want to do. Luther talks about the importance discipline in his writings. He says in freedom of a Christian, Here then the works begin; here he must not take his ease; here he must give heed to exercise his body by fastings, watchings, labour, and other regular discipline, so that it may be subdued to the spirt, and obey and conform itself to the inner man and faith and not rebel against nor hinder them, as is its nature to do if it is not kept under (Luther). He is saying discipline is really important to controlling the body and not the other way around. Have discipline in the daily tasks or smaller tasks, and there will be discipline in the more important tasks or bigger tasks. What is the definition of Discipline, one might ask? Merriam Webster defines discipline as, training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character (Discipline). Discipline is so important to life, without it nothing would get done. One thing is for sure, not everyone is born with natural talent; everyone has the ability to be disciplined and work hard in their everyday tasks. A Reflection On Spirituality Assessment Essay Introduction Spirituality is a very sensitive topic in any area of the world and when discussing it with a patient is such a vulnerable situation, it becomes even more delicate. It is a topic which can affect the outlook of the patient and how they will get through their condition. A spirituality assessment is important because spirituality is such a powerful thing which can help a person turn a terrible situation into something more bearable. It is vital for nurses to use this tool to help them because it goes beyond medications and intubation trays, it focuses on them as a person. A spirituality assessment is a tool which will help patients on critical care units get through there vulnerable moment in life. Implementation Plan When trying to implement my spirituality assessment in critical care, I would use Rogers change theory which has five different steps; awareness, interest, evaluation, trial, and adoption (Mitchell, 2013). Each of these steps are very important to the success of the spirituality assessment. During the awareness step it is important to identify the importance of the spirituality assessment on the critical care unit. I would explain how spirituality plays an important part in caring for a patient because of the impact it has on the decision they will make (Savel Munro, 2014). Allusions Of Allusions In Blake s The Garden Of Love Short exercise paper #1 Blake s lyrical poem The Garden of Love contains several allusions that reference the first book in the Bible Genesis . During this paper, I will be discussing one instance where Blake s poem alludes to Genesis 3. To summarize, there are several instances in which Blake s poem The Garden of Love alludes to Genesis, of these I chose to focus on the chapel built in the midst and its connection to Eve s interaction with the Serpent. Blake s poem begins with the speaker visiting the Garden of Love during which they discover, A chapel was built in the midst. The speaker points out that this chapel is built/where I used to play all of this happens during the first stanza. The speaker does not indicate they watched the chapel built in fact; the speaker almost seems shocked by its presence, saw what I had never seen and it becomes clear whatever this chapel is it has altered how the speaker will continue to interact with the garden, built in the midst/where I used to play on the green . It is important to realize this chapel not only altered the garden itself, but also, has essentially replaced the green so; instead of play, there is this chapel . During the third book of Genesis, a dialogue happens concerning Eve and the Serpent. The Serpent questions Eve about the garden to which she replies, We may eat of the fruit of the trees...But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst...Ye shall not eat...lest ye die (Genesis 3:3). Hypothesis: It is hypothesised that when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is increased, the speed of the reaction will also increase, whereas when the temperature at which the chemical reaction takes place is decreased, the speed of the reaction will decrease. This hypothesis correlates to the investigation because when the Hydrochloric acid is at a higher temperature, the solution that is mixed with it, in this case Sodium Thiosulphate, the rate at which the reaction occurs will be much faster. Whereas, when the temperature of the Hydrochloric acid is decreased, the Sodium Thiosulphate solution that will be mixed in will result in the rate at which the reaction occurs being much slower. • 43. Liking Is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts” Liking Is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts We live in a world where the internet and social media plays a big role. There are constantly becoming less and less physical contact, and fewer face to face relations. This is demonstrated by the fact that we keep in touch with each other over Facebook, shopping takes place over the internet, we keep up with our economy whit online banking and meet friends and lovers over online dating sites. In late modern society, we are always available. But are we really missing out on a lot of important stuff, and is this necessarily a bad thing? This is also the theme in Jonathan Franzen s essay, Liking is for Cowards. Go for What Hurts from 2011. The focus in this essay will be on how Jonathan Franzen ... On the other hand Jonathan Franzen also uses some foreign words as carbon foodprint , anesthetized dream by using these foreign words he makes sure to seem smart , so we get the feeling of a person who knows what he is talking about, and on the other hand also a fun and interesting person. This is again something that strengthens his ethos appeal, so it is easier for him to convince and engage the young readers. If he was writing in a way with no humor, only foreign words, and maybe used a lot of statistics facts, instead of personal stories, he would not engage the young readers. So by writing in this very specific way, he knows that the youngster will find his essay fun and interesting. • 45. Aluminum Foils Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time, Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans, Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface areaof this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the designs on each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of the Nurses rule over Salem was that it was defined by how the people looked to her not because they had to but because they wanted too and how the Nurses demonstrated the best society has to give. The second and most current theocratic power was displayed by Reverend Parris when the book first starts off. Reverend Parris s power over Salem was displayed by golden candlesticks (Miller A.2 Pg 62). The change in theocratic rule is displayed by the change in the symbols, Rebecca Nurses brick and mortar give an sense of community and strength while Reverend Parris s golden candlesticks is an symbol of singular power as a candlestick requires all but one hand and the gold represents wealth and greed which are all extensions of Parris. The change in symbols show the increase of corruption as the power is given to a select few, very similar in Arthur Miller s communist hunts.
