Ophelia s Suicide Note Essay example
Ophelia s Suicide Letter
Dear Hamlet,
I thought I would be able to bottle up all of these emotions but it seems I cannot bear it any
longer; I must let it all out. I must tell you, Hamlet, that living in this mad world is driving me to
the brink of insanity. I am just so fed up with going about every single day persuading myself
that I had ought to ignore it all and simply, sweetly smile. But why should I? Why should I sit
around and let the likes of men like you order me around any longer? Yes Lord this, yes Lord
that! Who do all of you men think you are? Being ordered around by my father, brother and you,
my former lover, completely frustrates me every time. Am I your maid? Your slave? Your toy? You
all speak to me with such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What sense does this make? Such a thought makes me tremble in utter disbelief. How could you
have committed such a crime and not feel any sense of shame or guilt? Had you not any thought
or consideration for my well being or stability of my emotional state when you committed such a
sin? You didn t, did you since you did not think twice to confirm who it was behind the arras. I
am curious, Hamlet, for what reason did you do such a terrible thing? What has he ever done to
deserve such a foul fate? Has he wronged you in any way? All he has done is loyally serve your
family yet this is what he receives in return! It overwhelms me with great sadness.
Moreover, not only have I lost my father, but it seems I have lost you as well, both mentally and
physically. Following our separation, I still loved you Hamlet. But you, who pushed me away
and branded me as damaged goods, have broken my fragile heart, have killed my father, someone
who truly cared for me despite his demands, and have left me in utter despair. Oh it feels as if my
world is suddenly falling apart! I cannot go to you, Hamlet, for your hands are stained with my
father s blood and as of late, I can hardly speak to you as your mind seems to have plummeted to the
depths of insanity! Yet at the same time, despite everything that has happened, I find myself unable
to leave you

The Current State Of Organ Transplantation
In 2009, there were 154,324 patients on the waiting list for an organ in the United States. Because
of the lack of availability of organs, the grim reality is that only 18% received a transplant and 25
patients per day died while still on the waiting list. To alleviate this situation, a nationwide policy of
compensation and incentives for organ donationwill be implemented.
The problems plaguing the current state of organ transplantation are more multidimensional than
numbers. Issues are present from the national level all the down to the individual patient. Right at
the onset of the entire process, identifying potential donors is difficult and problematic to subject
to a set of standardized criteria. One of the reasons for this is that the sources of organs are varied.
Still, the primary source of organ donation is cadavers. To certify death, the accepted criteria is that
of brain death. After certification, another issue is ensuring the condition of the organs is
maintained in a manner acceptable to be transplanted. Yet another issue is that the list is not static.
The condition of patients can unfortunately deteriorate to the point where their eligibility to be
placed on the list is lost. Additionally, given the chronic shortage of organs available and the
extended amount of time some patients have to wait, some patients die before they are reached on
the list.
There is also a financial aspect to the process. It begins with classifying the processes involved as

The Effect Of Photography On Forensic Science
Photography in forensic science is arguably an important factor to the forensic science world
especially when is used in court situations to carry out justice in court. Photography helps to aid
investigations provides the court room investigators with photos of victims, places and items in
detail involved in the crime.
The basics of photography is understanding how a camera works, a standard camera has very basic
components these are
A viewfinder
A focusing mechanism
A shutter
An aperture
A lens
The light proof camera body
Finally a variety of buttons/devices to control the settings
So the basics of how a camera works are as follows as the light enters the camera this will be
through the lens aperture. It is then reflected the image is recorded on to a light sensitive film
that is loaded within the camera. When looking at the individual components of the camera
firstly is the lens this is a curved piece of glass of which the light passes through to allow the
light to enter the camera then this is redirected to finally this comes together in order to form an
image. The aperture is located between the rear and front lens; the aperture refers to the size of the
lens opening this basically controls the amount of light that enters the camera, sometimes the
aperture can be known as the f stop or f number. The largest aperture is F 2 the smallest is F 22.
The shutter is the object that is covering the lens, and this is the feature that controls the

A Report On The Los Penasquitos Trail
In late October our class explored the Los Penasquitos Trail in Sorrento Valley and collected
samples of the area s vegetation, water sources and soil. We hiked early in the morning on a dry,
dirt trail surrounded by drought resistant landscaping. The soil samples for this experiment were
collected from the descending end of a hill leading down to the Wagon Creek Bridge. It was our
assumption that this area would have more microorganisms because of the increased foot traffic.
The purpose of this report is to discuss the bacteriawe discovered in our soil sample. The samples
were kept in plastic tubes with a closed lid until we were ready for analysis. One gram of the soil
was measured out from the tube and mixed with 20ml of deionized water. A serial dilution was
prepared consisting of five glass test tubes filled with 9ml of culture broth. Afterwards, 1ml of the
soil was piped from the center of the sample and placed into the first tube of the serial dilution. We
lightly capped each tube and incubated the sample under a ventilation hood at room temperature
(~24ВєC) for 48 hours. After the incubation period the samples were mixed well will a vortex. We
then piped 1ml of the first dilution into the second dilution and mixed thoroughly with the vortex.
This process was repeated with remainder of the dilutions.. Streak plates were prepared in petri
dishes filled with premade nutrient agar and 100Вµl of the third, fourth and fifth dilutions. We

History Of A Fire Regime And Where We Are Today
Jillian Spies, Assignment #1, FRST 547 Forestry in British Columbia
Wildfire in British Columbia: The History of a Fire Regime and Where We Are Today
The extraordinary wildfires that burned in 2015 worried many British Columbians. That year,
304,460 hectares of land was burned by wildfires in the province (Lori Daniels, personal
communication, Oct. 30, 2015). Compared to the 10 year average of 115,000 hectares per year
(Lori Daniels, personal communication, Oct. 30, 2015), this is a staggeringly large number. With
almost three times the area of forest burned in 2015, one might ask why this increase occurred. The
wildfire regime in British Columbia (BC) can be traced back to a time when Indigenous people
occupied and managed their relationship with the land without the influence of colonialism and the
modern day government of Canada. When the government did start interfering, much of the land
previously burned by First Nations was no longer permitted to burn. The landscape was changed
because of this fire exclusion practice, and as a result, the province of BC is seeing many
negative changes in the landscape, including an increase in the severity of wildfires. The purpose
of this paper is to prove that wildfire has shaped the landscape of BC through Indigenous burnings,
and as a result of wildfire exclusion in the 20th century, there is an increase in wildfire severity and
frequency today. In order to understand how wildfire has influenced BC, one must first

I m Finally Out Of That Goddam Place
I m finally out of that goddam place. The dumb psychoanalyst guy kept asking me the same
questions over and over again. They made me crazy. Well, now all I have to figure out is where to
go. I could go to Hollywood to visit my brother D.B, I could go home to phoebe, or I could also go
to central park and see if the ducks are still there. Making the decision made me feel depressed.
Boy, I really missed those ducks; I still don t know where they go in the winter. It interests me. It
really does.
Anyway, I decided to give my brother D.B a buzz. It s been a long time since we ve talked. With
all of the movie star stuff, I guess he doesn t have time to spend with us. He finally answered the
phone after I d rang about a million goddam times.
Yeah he said. That killed me; he answered the phone like he was a hotshot. It was like he was busy
and didn t want to talk to anyone.
Hey D.B it s me, Holden .
Oh... Hey what s up? . He said that like he was expecting someone else.
Nothing really, just wanted to know if you could come and have a goddam drink with me.
Sorry Holden, I ll probably be busy for another week or two, I don t really have time he said. Of
course he was busy. Ever since he s gone to Hollywood, he acts like he can t even be seen with us.
That prostitute has a really busy schedule.
It s ok, maybe next time, bye .
Anyways, I decided to take Phoebe a walk around central park. The whole walk there it was so

How Did Cartier Contribute To Society
However, before he became the revolutionary figure that he is most known for today, Cartier
studied law and after his graduation, in 1835, he was offered to join the bar of Lower Canada to
begin practising in his profession in the office of Edouard Г‰tienne Rodier. Two years later,
Cartier s profound dislike for the government caused him to take part in the rebellion of 1837,
inspired by Louis Papineau. Due to that unsuccessful event, he was forced to flee to the United
States, but was allowed to return the next year to continue practising law. Instead, he decided to
enter the field of politics and was elected to go to the legislative assembly of Canada. There, he was

Militia and Defense. In 1868, he went to England accompanied by William McDougall to

Territory as well as the Hudson Bay Company. Another large impact that Cartier had for Canada
was negotiating British Colombia into Confederation in 1871. Canada s control for the western
part of the country had been threatened when the U.S. had negotiated the purchase of Alaska
from the Russians. Therefore, the Confederation was eager to officially include British Colombia
as a part of Canada. He promised British Columbia that he would connect them to Eastern Canada
by rail and thereby sealed the agreement. It was later that year when Cartier first began to show
the symptoms of Bright s Disease and one year later he decided to travel to London in the hope to
find a cure. During his time there, his health did not improve and he died on May 20th,

Compare And Contrast Shakespeare Sonnet 130
Sonnet 18 and Sonnet 130, were some of William Shakespeare s most famous sonnets that he ever
wrote. Both sonnets are very similar with the theme of love and beauty; however they contrast each
other in their purpose, style, and whom William Shakespeare is writing the sonnet to. The sonnets
are both written in two different styles of writing. Sonnet18 was written in a more traditional
format, which paints the woman in a divine spotlight. Sonnet 130 however contrasts Sonnet 18 by
instead of describing their subject as being beautiful they rather describing them as with
imperfections and how they love that subject. Shakespeare uses a complimentary tone when he
wrote Sonnet 18 and uses a more ironic and satirical tone in his Sonnet 130. With the help of a
complex metaphor, the tone he uses in each sonnet, and imagery, Shakespeare gives two very
different takes on love and beauty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They try to pay tribute to the woman by making the comparison of her beauty to a summer s day.
The narrator even describes their lover as being more beautiful and temperate then what can be
found in nature. Noting the fact that nature s beauty can be very sporadic over time and the sun
can even become dim. And often is his gold complexion dimm d; and every fair from fair
sometime declines, (Shakespeare). The narrator then concludes that the appearance of the woman
that they are referring to isn t going away because it will be forever captured in the verses of this
sonnet. So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this and gives life to thee
(Shakespeare). The narrator starts making them out to be more of a goddess rather than an actual

Category 5 cabling can be purchased from Amazon for $31.99 (See references for link to site). It
is difficult to determine how much cabling is needed at this time to come put with a final
estimate. I would also recommend buying cables in different jacket colors to help differentiate
between network devices if possible. This will help to narrow down troubleshooting issues with in

Images are More Powerful than Words
The American Heritage College Dictionary defines the term image as An optically or
electronically formed representative reproduction of an object, esp. an optical reproduction
formed by a lens or a mirror. This is what is more commonly referred to as a picture. The definition
of a word is a sound or combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing that
symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or a combination
of morphemes. In fact, there is a constant debate about the importance and significance of both
forms of communication. Because either one can be interpreted and considered differently,

Even though both the tour guide and a pamphlet told everyone exactly what the organization s
purpose was, the Mural actually said more than needed to be said, without the aid of any words.
One can agree with Mitchell Stephens statement in By Means of the Visible: A Picture s Worth that
certain pictures can put most sentences to shame (486), because the images illustrated in this Mural
put, every single word that was written in the UN pamphlet or spoken by the tour guide, to shame.
They gave a deeper and more spiritual meaning, that went above and beyond the mere one
dimensional meaning, of the words used, both written and spoken.
Since motion pictures are a form of imagery, the next image is from the movie, Coming to
America. The chosen image was when Akeem, the Prince of Zamunda, was getting married at
the end of the movie. When he pulled up the veil of his bride, after thinking that he had lost Lisa
forever back in Queens, the look on his face, when he saw that Lisa was not in New York, but in
Zamunda, waiting to become his bride, was a mix of joy, anxiety, relief and passion, just to name
a few. All of the emotions that were on his face, at that particular moment when he realized that he
was going to finally wed the woman he truly loved, cannot possibly be described by enough words

Even though the song was about death and depression, the Rolling Stones made it a great rock

experiments of sounds on. The song s form is not like a traditional song outline. It goes by the
song form of Chorus/Verse 1/Verse 2/Bridge/Chorus/Outro. The instruments used in this song
are 2 guitars, drums, tambourines, and a sitar. Sitar is an Indian string instrument that is like a
guitar. The addition of the sitar in this song made was what made it an experimental song. When
I listened to this song, in the beginning, I heard the sitar playing solo before any words were
sung. Then the drums come in with this nice upbeat rhythm and tempo that made it more of a
rock song. In addition, every time when Mick Jagger, said painted black in this song, he adds this
emphasis to the word black of saying it for a longer duration than other words. This helped create
that dark mood of the song and added an extra texture to the song. Towards the end of the song like

Gloom Behind The Glitter Dubai Masters The Art of Being Global
A comparison of the official and vernacular narrative in the Media Representing Dubai
Erum Khan
Introduction
The city of Dubai is situated in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula. Part of the United Arab
Emirates UAE, this city state is aspiring to be major metropolis and the most populated in UAE
with a population of 2.1 million approx. Dubai is also one of the richest economies of the world
with an estimated per capita income of $37000/ 10
This paper will work through the lens of two dominant perspectives investigating Dubai s rise to its
current status of a world class city. Examining first from the political economy approach, and
secondly using the postcolonial focus to analyze the state constructed media products such as
official website, print TV campaigns promoting Dubai as the land of good times .
The political economy approach imagines the metropolis as a site of capital accumulation 1 and a
field for reshaping social relations among citizens. The post colonial approach views any city
having a colonial history and as a setting for subaltern resistance to the colonial hegemony. Being
under the British colonial rule that lasted till 1971, Dubai is suffering from a hierarchy defined by
social income class as well as residential status and the class struggle between Emiratis and non
national migrant workers for equal pay, status and fairer regulations.

The Anxiety Of Anxiety And Hopelessness
Introduction
Hopelessness
Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are common in people who are unhappy. There are also
some most irritating, annoying and depress feelings that repress individual s skill. Cognitive
theory of depression research has shown that people with depression are struggling with the
feelings of hopelessness instead of people who have no depression (Sacco and Beck, 1995). A
sense of hopelessness reflects a negative view of the outlook. This includes failure, and a
persistence of pain and difficulty, and expectations of personal pleasure, a belief that nothing
will get better. Thoughts of negative self also reflect by hopelessness. Depressed individuals
view themselves more unresponsively, their self esteem suffers, and they have little or no self
confidence. They do not believe they have any control or that they can help themselves to feel
better. They may have an urge to give up and think, What s the use? Research has also indicated
that severe hopelessness may be a forecaster of suicide (Beck, 1987; Fawcett, 1990) Hopelessness
is conceptualized as an individual s negative anticipation regarding the future and it is
characterized by negative emotions, pessimistic expectations, and loss of happiness in life (Beck,
Weismann, Lester, and Trexler, 1974; Heliman, Coffey Lover, Frutos. 2004) Hopelessness is
having no expectations of good or success, despondent, not vulnerable to remedy or cure, incapable
of redemption or improvement.

Anna Wintour can also be described as aloof and emotionally distant from others which could be a
reason as to why she is in such high demand, these specific personality traits also coincide with
Allports personality theory within which he states that people within a specific population area
share the same trait(s) (Allport). This theory could relate to Anna Wintour due to the fact that she
was born in England and the English culture could be argued is not one that is particularly an
emotional culture especially within the early 1940 s which is when Anna was born. Anna Wintour s
father Charles Wintour could also be the reason behind Anna s emotionless personality due to the
fact that Charles Wintour was an editor who displayed a tough and stern personality style within
the workplace and this proved to be a success for him so it may seem as if Anna is following in
her father s footsteps. Having observed Anna Wintour through various interviews and magazine
articles, one specific identifiable trait that she possesses is the fact that she has a strong sense of
self belief as she does not change her personality or the way in she conducts herself depending on

/ Indirect Advertisement: Any non OPCraft link posted will be deemed as Indirect Advertisement,
most of the time it is Youtubevideos, and the punishment is perm mute.

Reflection On Gender And Socialization
Gender socialization is defined as the process in which people learn to behave according to
stereotypical gender roles (Iwamoto, 2017). In my own life, gender socialization caused me to
modify my actions, behaviors, and relationships. Furthermore, although I have learned that these
stereotypes come from a place of generalization, and do not need to be endorsed, gender
socialization still impacts me even throughout my adult life. Because my parents are both
immigrants from Bangladesh, most of the gender roles I was exposed to as a child came from my
family. One of the most prevalent aspects of my family, and my overall culture, is arranged marriage
. Both my mom and grandma experienced an arranged marriage, and because I lived with both
these women as a child, they were constantly preparing me for my own future arranged marriage.
They taught me how to make tea for guests, how to cook traditional Bengali food, and how to
clean the house, all before I turned 10 years old. Whenever I wanted to do something that went
against what it meant to be a proper young girl, such as play with my younger brothers outside or
skip making tea one time, I heard the words, No one will marry you if you act like this. When I
was about 11 years old, I was sick of hearing that, so I screamed at my mom, telling her that
maybe I don t want to get married. I remember the look of shock on her face so clearly, even
close to a decade later. Her next words were, Well, the only other thing you can do is become a
nun. Being told from such a young age that I only had two choices in my life, get married or
become a nun caused me to feel continuously angry, especially at my family. I thought that nothing
I did ever mattered as long as I did not find a husband, have children, and spend the rest of my life
taking care of them.
In this case, the specific multidimensional feminine norms I was taught to endorse were the
domestic norm, which mean that women are taught to be neat and clean, the care for children norm,
which mean that women are taught they should want children, and the romantic relationship norm,
which mean that women are taught that relationships are needed in life (Iwamoto, 2017).
Furthermore, although in Bengali culture it

The Germ Theory
In the light of the germ theory...[d]jseases are to be considered as a struggle between the organism
and the parasites invading it. The aforementioned quote, by Henry Gandle, a professor of
physiology at Chicago Medical College, characterizes the germ theory through the collective human
struggle against disease inducing microorganisms. In a period of discovery, where the nature of
various germs and diseases were brought to light, the common conception encompassed a war
between humans and diseases; this analogy to a war implicates a united effort on the part of the
human race in battling these dangerous microorganisms. Tomes writes in The Gospel of Germs not
only of the different scientific discoveries associated with the emergent germ... Show more content

In the Southwood Smith excerpt, he depicts the ideal method of quarantine as influenced by neither
ancient prejudices, nor an excess of anxiety to avert possible danger, should induce the continuance
of restrictions inessential to their object. In other words, Southwood Smith acknowledges not only
the active societal biases, but also that these partialities can enter the medical realm through
prejudicial treatment of disease. A society with such prominent discrimination, including in those
with medical clout, has the capacity to formulate racial and class bias in germ theory that is but
an extension of already existing anxieties concerning other less well off members of society.
Rather than bringing people together in response to the fear of disease, quarantine had the capacity
to create a more segregated society praying on the middle and upper class fears of disease
spreading through the other, discriminated members of society. African Americans are among the
societal groups that lacked the societal cohesiveness Tomes attributes to the gospel of germs insofar
as they remained segregates and relatively uneducated on the new germ theories in comparison to

The Moral Characters Of Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus accepted the only offer he received to start his journey across the ocean to
prove his round earth theory. Columbus, determined to find a new route to India, set sail in 1492.
However, instead of India, Columbus landed in a New World that he claimed for the country of
Spain. The crew aboard Columbus ship, and Columbus himself, set out to explore and learn more
about their newly claimed lands. After uncovering the island had inhabitants, Columbus and his
crew interacted with the natives of the land. During the time that Columbus spent on the island, he
recorded, in a journal, his thoughts on the land. Many people believe that he elaborated when
describing the area, the natives, and the resources it offers. This led to the questioning of Columbus
moral character. Inspecting three different sources Columbus s Journal, Walt Whitman
s Prayer of
Columbus, and Joaqin Miller s Columbus Columbus s moral character gets scrutinized. On October
21, 1492, Columbus made landfall in the New Worldand exploration of the new land commenced.
Throughout the journey, Columbus kept a journal full of his thoughts and impressions on this new
land. After examining the journal entries, many people can see how Columbus seemed motivated
to exaggerate when he described the New World. With a promise of wealth, Columbus strived to
prove of the new land s worthiness: It was a great affliction to me to be ignorant of their natures,

Questions and Answers on the Foundations of Singing
1.How does the speaking voice influence the singing voice?
I cannot tell you the number of times that I have had vocal teachers tell me that they cannot
believe how high I can sing after hearing my speaking voice. Many vocal professionals tell me
that I must be an alto and I have had many vocal issues. I have been told it is because teachers are
pushing my voice to high and the opposite that it is because I speak too low. I blame it on being a
very unhealthy human being. Research has shown a correlation between the speaking and singing
voices (Phillips, 236). Poor speaking habits can lead to poor singing habits, which can lead to
vocal problems. Many cases of vocal nodules have been reported in children as a result of poor
speaking habits. Singing and speaking have similar physiology, which can make it difficult for
students that have a poor speaking voice to then go onto having a good singing voice. The
speaking voice is learned young in students and often times music teachers do not have any
control over it. When the students reach our classrooms it is our job to almost reteach students
how to speak so that they can sing properly. Otherwise, many of the students will develop
problems that they will work on fixing for the rest of their lives. I am still working on posture and
how not to bring muscle into my singing voice, since I use muscle in my speaking voice.

Strategy comes from the ancient Greek work Strategos that combines army to lead (Mintzberg

prepares them for future. In business perspective, it means developing an edge over competitors in
order to secure current customers capture more new customers. In other words Strategy is creating
Competitive Advantage. Organizations have their own ways to achieve Competitive Advantage
(Scott 2005, pp. 191). Samsung chose leading in Design to achieve its Competitive advantage.
Until 20 years ago, Samsung manufactured cheap, imitative electronics for other companies. Its
leaders valued speed, scale, reliability above all. Its marketers set prices introduced features
according to what original manufacturers wanted. Its engineers built products to meet prescribed
price performance requirements. At end of the process designers would make a product looking
nice. The designers were only following engineers orders in a company led by engineers (Yoo Kim

For this project I would like to do a short three to four minute documentary to analyze how social

Rhetorical Analysis Of Lou Gehrig s Farewell Speech
Professional baseball player, Lou Gehrig, in his speech, Farewell to Baseball Address, sheds
light on his baseball career and why it was coming to an abrupt end. Gehrig s purpose was not to
be distraught about him getting diagnosed with ALS, but instead send a message to not take
anything for granted and be thankful for everything that happens. He adopts a thankful tone by
showing how humble he is to have played the game of baseball with many great people thus
using grateful terminology for his teammates and associates and reassuring terminology for
baseball fans who were worried about him and his fatal disease. Gehrig appeals to ethos in his

Without the usage of pathos, Gehrig s farewell speech wouldn t have been nearly as effective
with his audience and the audience that would hear his speech or read his speech at a later time.
Without pathos, it would ve just been another professional sport players retirement speech. Many
key elements contributed to the emotional appeal of Gehrig s speech; first, he was finally
addressing the reason why he was retiring from baseball, which was because of a life threatening
disease known as ALS. Always regarded as one who could pull through anything, Gehrig finally
made it clear through this speech that battling this disease was going to be the hardest battle yet
and it would prevent him continuing to do what he loved which was play baseball. Nevertheless,
Gehrig did not wish to evoke sadness out of his audience, throughout his speech, he sought to give
hope over despair, thankfulness over pity, and humbleness over self righteousness. It was so
important that he displayed these emotions because then he would contrast to the ideals that many
American people had come to believe. Also throughout the speech Gehrig did not seek sympathy
from his situation; in fact, he did not once mention his disease specifically and rather focused on the
positive moments that he had experienced throughout his life. Hence, people connected to this
speech because here was a man who had experienced hardship upon hardship and yet still

The Godfather Conflict
This quote highlights the basis half of the plot and conflicts of the The Godfather, and half of
what led to it becoming the American classic it is. From 1972, this inspirational film explores a
highly romanticized version of the Italian mafioso culture. With most of the plot being split into
either family, business, or the conflicts when they overlap. this drama has to dig deep to hook
onto emotions that we can relate to. Based on Mario Puzo s novel, directed by Francis Ford Coppola
, and acted by both experts and amateurs alike, The Godfatherwas produced masterfully. While we
may not be able to identify with the overall business side of the story, we are able to do so with
the half closer to home. The exceptional usage of the three hours allows this film to not seem
rushed while having us hang onto every word. Personally, the part of the film that really sold this
as one of my top movies was the dual family/business nature of the most of the plot as well as how
Michael compared to Vito in being the Godfather.. The striking juxtaposition induces at least a few

The Corleones steadily became more violent over the course of The Godfather, but this can be
attributed to the fact that the threat against their family is increasing. On the other hand, the
moment Vito is out of the picture, Michael offers to murder the family s enemies for revenge.
Even when Sonny is brutally peppered by bullets from a dozen Barzini buttonmen, Vito offers a
ceasefire opportunity. Michael simply had them all assassinated because it would be easier and
more efficient overall. We see here that the father son morality split is why this movie is such an
inspiration and a model for power struggles in general. The independent leadership styles of the

The Religious Convictions Of The Greeks
During prehistoric times, the Greeks had outright and unquestionable admiration for their divine
beings. They showed their reverence by putting set up numerous ceremonies and festivals to
worship the divine beings that they adored to guarantee concordance with them. Specifically, the
center will be on the religious convictions of the Greeks, including request to God and present, and
also on celebrations and human expressions, for example, the old Olympic recreations and theater.
These parts of their society made a critical commitment to their personal satisfaction and the
subjects will be analyzed in connection to the twelve Olympian divine beings, and their partners.

The Olympian religion is very complex meaning that each god had its purpose to them and they
were loyal to each god by trying to satisfy them in their own way.
The Greek divine beings were depicted as people, which implied that they were not great. That is,
the divine beings committed errors, felt torment, and experienced outrage and had their tempers.
The religion was custom based and had no standard ministries, no progressive framework, and no
blessed/holy content or good code. Numerous researchers accept that the religion and society
comprised of stories told and made due through oral convention, which are the myths that we know
today. In the myths that have made due through the ages, the Greeks utilized the divine beings as a
way to defend anything that they couldn t comprehend or deductively clarify. For instance, when
thunder and lightning tumbled from the sky joined by downpour, it was accepted that Zeus, the
divine force of the sky, was in charge of it.
Furthermore, it was possibly a sign that he was angered with the people for something wrong they
did. In that admiration, the Greeks accepted that Zeus and his Olympian divine beings were of the
best criticalness. Every God had their own sanctuary, and inside these sanctuaries the ministers or
priestesses verified that the tenets of offering were being watched. They

The Field Of Business Administration Essay
The field of business administration is not as straightforward as one may perceive. While there is
a specific process that business owners must undergo in order to start up their own company, there
is no exact right or wrong method to create and sustain a successful business. It is ultimately up to
us, as potential leaders of any organization or project, to utilize our own personal values in order to
help shape a realistic vision that all of us can achieve together.
Because business administration is a competitive field, there are no grounds for complacency; one
has to constantly be enthusiastic about growth in order to progress. An individual needs to know
what he can and can not control, in order to improve on the factors that can be controlled. A team
needs to establish healthy relationships within each individual, and then develop mutual respect
and understanding for one another. A corporation, with the direction of its leaders, needs to set
clear, concrete, reachable goals that everybody in the organization can accomplish.
The approach on how to organize, plan, and execute any given plan is subjective, yet crucial.
Starting up your own company takes patience and time; however, a number of entrepreneurs tend
to take out huge loans in an attempt to build a flashy looking business with no business plan
whatsoever. In fact, 33% of businesses will fail in these first two crucial years, the main cause
being a lack of experience (Jorden). Therefore, a business s success

Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The...
In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special admissions programs;
but this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and with narrowly tailored provisions. Two
separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th
Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are
constitutionally permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a
factor in the admissions process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear
discriminatory. But if there is a compelling government interest, then it is not covered by the Equal
Protection Clause, in the Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict scrutiny... Show more content on

This is because schools have a rational reason for excluding certain individuals. It cannot accept
every student, so schools must have the ability to sift through applicants. For example, test scores,
GPA, extracurricular activities, and the like, can be used when considering an applicants file. In
short, this in no way perverts or violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable
interest in denying certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies.
Discussion of Cases: How the Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special
admissions requirements, like race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most exacting judicial
scrutiny when reviewing cases of this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For this, the rational basis test is
faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to examine race cases. The Court visited this topic in two
separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and Gratz v Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions
requirements for Michigan Law School, and Gratz examined Michigan undergraduate requirements.
Once again, emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny when race plays a factor in admissions.
The court also established the need for narrowly tailored provisions when implementing such
programs. In Grutter, the court re emphasized the fact that cultivating a diverse student body was a
compelling state interest. And according to Chief Justice Rehnquist, student body diversity is a
compelling state

First, the expansion in the 1970s was financed by debt, much of it short term. This was the reason
for its high (short term) debt value ratio. Although this might have been in line with Massey s
growth strategy, it made Massey sensible for the increase in the interest rates. This increase
resulted in a dramatic rise of cost of Massey s short term debt.
Second, Massey had an enormous amount of debt outstanding with more than 100 banks around the
world which resulted in numerous covenants related to these loans. These covenants hindered
Massey s free access to the capital market. Hence, Massey couldn t attract equity to finance the
company and was dependent on loans. Finally, most of the borrowing from banks was unsecured.
Because of the higher risk of unsecured debt, the loans were more expensive. That is, unsecured
debt leads to higher interest rates. Thus this was also a reason for high costs of debt.
Together with the decline in demand in North America and depressed markets in Europe and the
Third World, these high costs of debt and inaccessible capital market formed the cause of the
financial distress Massey went through.

Drucker believed that knowledge is always embodied in a person, taught and learned by a person,
used or misused by a person. As the world moving into knowledge era, this paper will examine how
ZBMS Sdn. Bhd. manages its knowledge in order to remain competitive amongst the construction
industry. Probst, Raub Romhardt (1999, p.1) stressed that companies must learn to manage their
intellectual assets (i.e. knowledge) in order to survive and compete in the knowledge society .
Indeed, knowledge management is concerned with the exploitation and development of the
knowledge assets (Davenport et al., 1998). This paper seeks to examine the Accounting Information
Systems (AIS) used by a Malaysian company named ZBMS Sdn. Bhd. The paper will highlight the
users of the system and the way information adds value to the organisation. Also, the paper will

What Is The Idea Of Shooting An Elephant By George Orwell...
In Shooting an Elephant by George Orwell, he confesses to the hatred of an imperialistic India
that causes him to go against his beliefs while receiving no respect. At this time Burma was under
British control with the use of imperialism. George Orwell was an English police officer serving
in Burma, India and hating each aspect of his time there. He was hated by all the Burma, just for
being British, but George Orwellwas not necessarily mad, for he sided with the Burma people. He
hated the idea of imperialismbecause it turned people against themselves. However, he didn t like
the Burma people either because they had no respect for him. They would purposely humiliate him

Analysis Of The Of Ragtime
Socialism in America
E3 Argumentative essay
Sonia Rani
3/17/2017
Ragtime is an interesting depiction of cultural and political change. It can be argued that the story is
not just a reflection of the events in the 20th Century but the novel reflects the events that continue
to happen until today in socialism. For instance, the novel gives a glimpse of the kind of life
experienced by many African Americans. They were victimized by the society and the persons in
authority refuse to help them. Even in the 21st Century, it cannot be denied that African Americans
are still subjected to discrimination in socialism. Throughout the stories in this novel character
represent that change and partiality. Because of the massive development, there was ... Show more

But he proves himself a good example of socialism as socialist. In Ragtime, historical elements like
E. Zapata, Emma Goldman, Coalhouse, mother s younger brother, Tateh and district attorney
reveals as a political example.
In socialism, the state also has a character of the class, but its content is opposed to that of the
bourgeois state: it becomes, for the first time in history, a state of the clear majority exploited
against the tiny exploitative or privileged minority (Rozman, 2014). Rozman (2014) explains that
Conversions to traditional socialism became more evident after World War II, with the Cold War
and later with the disintegration of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. So, as Ragtime,
because it was written in about 20th century. Since then, socialist regimes have been adopting more
flexible stances. Real socialism is developed socialism during the twentieth century. Currently, the
socialist countries are Cuba, China, North Korea, Laos, and Vietnam. Ragtime also depicts politics
between relationship, at court, as a victim, and attacking people for the sake of justice. On the other
hand, ideal socialism is that developed in the nineteenth century, the main thinker of socialism was
Karl Marx, for him this regime arose from capitalism and its means of production, having its control
played by the proletarian, as well as the state, which would later be extinguished, giving rise to
communism that corresponds to a society Without

Coming Of Age Characters
Older characters in movies are depicted as wise people who guide others along the correct paths.
These adults play an important role by supporting the major characters so that they may continue
after they make a mistake or stray from their goal. Elders are depicted as having great
compassion and understanding or having more worldly knowledge than the other characters in the
film. Though many older characters are commonly portrayed as understanding they do not always
follow the archetype. Each race has their own type of elder that go about helping characters in
different ways. Asian elders tend to be very strict when dealing with younger characters were as

Drunktown s Finest (2014) Felixxia s parents also act like a home away from home for the main
characters of that movie perpetuating that hispanic elders are people to seek out for comfort or
advice. In the case for Native Americans, their elders tend to be the most cryptic but try to help
the characters more actively than asian elders. The thing that makes Tomas stand out is he
doesn t just try to counsel Carlos and Magnolia but their parents as well. Carlos and Magnolia s
parents make mistakes as well and Tomas tries to talk to them that their kids are should be able
to be trusted and that their words are true. They first dismiss Tomas, but in the end accept
Magdalena back. Though Carlos is still on his own when Tomas dies, Tomas is able influence
Carlos to become a better man than the one we see at the beginning of the story. Though not all
adults in coming of age movies are a positive influence. In QuinceaГ±era everyone who should be
thought be a supportive pillar in Magdalena s growth except Tomas and Carlos, one which is also
outcasted by the same family. Magdalena s extremely religious father tears apart the family when
he should be a positive influence showing that even people who have a responsibility to help

Bounty Hunter Social Pressure
After watching the video and witnessing some of the actions of the individuals I honestly was not
surprised what so ever. The fact that many of the individuals chose not to question the bounty
hunter stems from the fact that in society if we see someone in the power position we are expected
to not questions them and obey them completely. When the bounty hunter had pressured the
individuals to help him detain the woman in the blue jacket for her crime, they were reassured
that he was an actual bounty hunter by his fake badge. The pressure that bounty hunter had placed
upon the individuals is a clear example of social pressure. According to the textbook, many
individuals tend to experience social pressure when they are part of a group (134)

Jane Austin Research Paper
My favorite influential female figure is Jane Austen. Jane Austin is one my favorite authors that
writes best romantic fiction combined with social realism. Most of the characters in Jane Austin s
books, the female character are strong and smart and have a mind of their own. Jane Austin books
were written 1811 to 1818, where women had no voice in society and only were accepted only to
get married. Jane Austin books focus on the issue of marriageissues and how at this time women
were married to the person that has more money and not for love. Her books show how the main
female characters don t look at marriage this way (money) but focus on finding a person who
understands and respects her. Jane Austin taught many girls and women how to dream, strive for
what they want and not because a womanwas born into a poor familyshe cannot dream.

who had nobody to look after them. She devoted her life to serving the ... Show more content on

Odysseus Or Gilgamesh
Odysseus or Gilgamesh Will the real Epic Hero please stand up?
Gilgamesh went to the entrance into the mountain and entered the darkness alone, without a
companion. By the time he reached the end of the first league the darkness was total, nothing
behind or before. He made his way, companionless, to the end (Book 9 p. 51, The Epic of
Gilgamesh). In The Epic of Gilgamesh, an epic poem translated by N.K. Sanders, Gilgamesh is a
character who is by all accounts an epic hero. As a person of nobility, he becomes tyrannical and
overpowering in his strength, until the gods present him with a challenge an equal counterpart to
Gilgamesh s fortitude. Gilgamesh battles with this new encountered foe, named Enkidu, yet
because of their equivalent vitality, they end up cancelling each other out, and through a twist of
events, Gilgamesh befriends Enkidu. This friendship is everlasting, through thick and thin. After
Enkidu s death and traveling in search for an answer to life s cruelty and abandonment, Gilgamesh
finds a new perspective on life and returns home to his rightful place on the throne. The Epic of
Gilgamesh entails the hardships and retribution that the main character, Gilgamesh, в…” god and
в…“ human and King of Uruk, endures. Comparatively, Gilgamesh is more of an epic hero than
Odysseus from The Odyssey by Homer, whose story also follows the structure of the Epic Hero
Cycle. This is because Gilgamesh embarks on multiple epic journeys, and on the way, grows and
learns from his

Kant’s Deontology
Religion Philosophy Essay
a) What are the central features of Kant s deontolgy?
Immanuel Kant believed that to live a good life is to lead a life of happiness. This is not saying
that people should only live a life that brings them pleasure and satisfaction, as is often argued in
Utilitarianism. Rather it is saying that to live a moral life is to live in a state of peace. For Kant,
the Summum Bonum (highest good) describes the ideal, where there is both virtue and happiness.
In The Fundamental Principles Kant speaks of a very comprehensive moral argument. This is of
the Good Will in which he says Nothing can possibly be conceived in the world, or even out of it,
which can be called good, without qualification, except a Good ... Show more content on

We are always influenced in our thinking and our intentions and attitudes change due to those
around us. Aristotle said Man is a social animal , which means that man enjoys the association of
others and may derive many advantages from it as well as alterations in thinking.
Universalisability supports the idea that it would not be fair for one person to follow a maxim
while another was criticized for acting the same way. However, after Kant gives the first
formulation of the categorical imperative, he offers four examples of the way maxims can be
derived from moral law. One of the maxims always tell the truth results from the irrationality of
breaking a promise.
This is a big disadvantage because Kant says you have a moral duty to tell the truth to an
inquiring murderer about the location of the person he is looking for. Like in the case of the
inquiring murderer, Kant does not come up with a way to resolve conflicts between the maxims:
you should not lie and you should save lives . Both are good maxims but if you follow one of the
maxims (don t lie), then you cannot follow the other (save lives). Other conflicts similar to this
would also be unresolved although Kant argues that you cannot know the future and all the other
variables involved, and

Quentin Tarantino s Inglourious Basterds
Quentin Tarantino s 2009 film, Inglourious Basterds, provides a creative alternative to World
War II s end. Tarantino, an experienced director of over 20 years at the time of the film s release,
had been working on Inglourious Basterds since he wrote the script in 1998. His completed film
explores the world of Nazi Germany, where unlikely protagonists strategize to end World War II.
Working towards this goal, Tarantino uses the aesthetic techniques that most are familiar with in
a perverted way, altering the audience s perception of the plot, characters, and Tarantino s goal.
Tarantino s use of lighting helps drive his long, suspenseful scenes forward. In one instance, the
17 minute long opening scene takes place inside the dank, dimly lit house of a French farmer
accused of harboring Jewish refugees. The lowkey, selective lighting keeps the menacing Nazi
Colonel Landa s face partly enshrouded in darkness, with fast falloff. On the other hand, the
farmer s face remains well lit as he lies about the refugees hiding underneath his floorboards.
However, he begins to blow his cover, and while his face gets darker, the Colonel Landa s face gets
brighter, to clarify the shift in power. This scene s tension is driven by the lowkey lighting... Show

Having escaped death at that farmhouse, Shoshanna s fear of remembrance by Colonel Landa is
paralleled by having only those two characters in focus. The soft falloff on their faces intensifies the
tension felt by Shoshanna, as she is trapped alone, at least for a few moments, with the one
responsible for her family s death. Tarantino s choice to light this scene brightly unsettles the
audience, as most suspenseful scenes employ lowkey lighting. By showing the bright scene with
dark subject matter, Tarantino intensifies the

The Importance Of Habitat For Humanity
For over a year now, I have heard the same slogan over and over, Let s Make America Great
Again . This has been the ongoing slogan for Trump throughout his campaign for president but I
haven t really seen anything that has been made great. Have you ever just stopped and looked
around, and seen everything around you? Seeing people holding up signs at intersections, grocery
stores, asking for help with food, gas or shelter. Have you seen the news lately talking about the
weather, particularly the storms, employment rate and the crime rate? This is the main topic that I
am going to talk about in my paper. We as a human race need to come together and work as one

When Does Tim O Brien Tell The Truth Analysis
When we tell a story that really took place in the past, we are honestly telling the truth or a lie
because the memory is something that remind us about our past that we want to remember or is
our brain lying to us about our past by choosing what to keep or leave out our memories about our
past to help comfort us moving forward in life. Do you believe Tim O Brien made the book all the
more genuine by using story truthinstead of happening truth ?
Happening truth is telling something reality that you went through in the past. It leaves no

  • 2. Ophelia s Suicide Note Essay example Ophelia s Suicide Letter Dear Hamlet, I thought I would be able to bottle up all of these emotions but it seems I cannot bear it any longer; I must let it all out. I must tell you, Hamlet, that living in this mad world is driving me to the brink of insanity. I am just so fed up with going about every single day persuading myself that I had ought to ignore it all and simply, sweetly smile. But why should I? Why should I sit around and let the likes of men like you order me around any longer? Yes Lord this, yes Lord that! Who do all of you men think you are? Being ordered around by my father, brother and you, my former lover, completely frustrates me every time. Am I your maid? Your slave? Your toy? You all speak to me with such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What sense does this make? Such a thought makes me tremble in utter disbelief. How could you have committed such a crime and not feel any sense of shame or guilt? Had you not any thought or consideration for my well being or stability of my emotional state when you committed such a sin? You didn t, did you since you did not think twice to confirm who it was behind the arras. I am curious, Hamlet, for what reason did you do such a terrible thing? What has he ever done to deserve such a foul fate? Has he wronged you in any way? All he has done is loyally serve your family yet this is what he receives in return! It overwhelms me with great sadness. Moreover, not only have I lost my father, but it seems I have lost you as well, both mentally and physically. Following our separation, I still loved you Hamlet. But you, who pushed me away and branded me as damaged goods, have broken my fragile heart, have killed my father, someone who truly cared for me despite his demands, and have left me in utter despair. Oh it feels as if my world is suddenly falling apart! I cannot go to you, Hamlet, for your hands are stained with my father s blood and as of late, I can hardly speak to you as your mind seems to have plummeted to the depths of insanity! Yet at the same time, despite everything that has happened, I find myself unable to leave you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Current State Of Organ Transplantation In 2009, there were 154,324 patients on the waiting list for an organ in the United States. Because of the lack of availability of organs, the grim reality is that only 18% received a transplant and 25 patients per day died while still on the waiting list. To alleviate this situation, a nationwide policy of compensation and incentives for organ donationwill be implemented. The problems plaguing the current state of organ transplantation are more multidimensional than numbers. Issues are present from the national level all the down to the individual patient. Right at the onset of the entire process, identifying potential donors is difficult and problematic to subject to a set of standardized criteria. One of the reasons for this is that the sources of organs are varied. Still, the primary source of organ donation is cadavers. To certify death, the accepted criteria is that of brain death. After certification, another issue is ensuring the condition of the organs is maintained in a manner acceptable to be transplanted. Yet another issue is that the list is not static. The condition of patients can unfortunately deteriorate to the point where their eligibility to be placed on the list is lost. Additionally, given the chronic shortage of organs available and the extended amount of time some patients have to wait, some patients die before they are reached on the list. There is also a financial aspect to the process. It begins with classifying the processes involved as organ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Effect Of Photography On Forensic Science Photography in forensic science is arguably an important factor to the forensic science world especially when is used in court situations to carry out justice in court. Photography helps to aid investigations provides the court room investigators with photos of victims, places and items in detail involved in the crime. The basics of photography is understanding how a camera works, a standard camera has very basic components these are A viewfinder A focusing mechanism A shutter An aperture A lens The light proof camera body Finally a variety of buttons/devices to control the settings So the basics of how a camera works are as follows as the light enters the camera this will be through the lens aperture. • 5. A Report On The Los Penasquitos Trail In late October our class explored the Los Penasquitos Trail in Sorrento Valley and collected samples of the area s vegetation, water sources and soil. We hiked early in the morning on a dry, dirt trail surrounded by drought resistant landscaping. The soil samples for this experiment were collected from the descending end of a hill leading down to the Wagon Creek Bridge. It was our assumption that this area would have more microorganisms because of the increased foot traffic. The purpose of this report is to discuss the bacteriawe discovered in our soil sample. The samples were kept in plastic tubes with a closed lid until we were ready for analysis. One gram of the soil was measured out from the tube and mixed with 20ml of deionized water. A serial dilution was prepared consisting of five glass test tubes filled with 9ml of culture broth. Afterwards, 1ml of the soil was piped from the center of the sample and placed into the first tube of the serial dilution. We lightly capped each tube and incubated the sample under a ventilation hood at room temperature (~24ВєC) for 48 hours. After the incubation period the samples were mixed well will a vortex. We then piped 1ml of the first dilution into the second dilution and mixed thoroughly with the vortex. This process was repeated with remainder of the dilutions.. Streak plates were prepared in petri dishes filled with premade nutrient agar and 100Вµl of the third, fourth and fifth dilutions. We streaked an additional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. History Of A Fire Regime And Where We Are Today Jillian Spies, Assignment #1, FRST 547 Forestry in British Columbia Wildfire in British Columbia: The History of a Fire Regime and Where We Are Today The extraordinary wildfires that burned in 2015 worried many British Columbians. That year, 304,460 hectares of land was burned by wildfires in the province (Lori Daniels, personal communication, Oct. 30, 2015). Compared to the 10 year average of 115,000 hectares per year (Lori Daniels, personal communication, Oct. 30, 2015), this is a staggeringly large number. With almost three times the area of forest burned in 2015, one might ask why this increase occurred. The wildfire regime in British Columbia (BC) can be traced back to a time when Indigenous people occupied and managed their relationship with the land without the influence of colonialism and the modern day government of Canada. When the government did start interfering, much of the land previously burned by First Nations was no longer permitted to burn. The landscape was changed because of this fire exclusion practice, and as a result, the province of BC is seeing many negative changes in the landscape, including an increase in the severity of wildfires. The purpose of this paper is to prove that wildfire has shaped the landscape of BC through Indigenous burnings, and as a result of wildfire exclusion in the 20th century, there is an increase in wildfire severity and frequency today. In order to understand how wildfire has influenced BC, one must first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, now all I have to figure out is where to go. I could go to Hollywood to visit my brother D.B, I could go home to phoebe, or I could also go to central park and see if the ducks are still there. Making the decision made me feel depressed. Boy, I really missed those ducks; I still don t know where they go in the winter. It interests me. It really does. Anyway, I decided to give my brother D.B a buzz. It s been a long time since we ve talked. With all of the movie star stuff, I guess he doesn t have time to spend with us. How Did Cartier Contribute To Society However, before he became the revolutionary figure that he is most known for today, Cartier studied law and after his graduation, in 1835, he was offered to join the bar of Lower Canada to begin practising in his profession in the office of Edouard Г‰tienne Rodier. Two years later, Cartier s profound dislike for the government caused him to take part in the rebellion of 1837, inspired by Louis Papineau. Due to that unsuccessful event, he was forced to flee to the United States, but was allowed to return the next year to continue practising law. Another large impact that Cartier had for Canada was negotiating British Colombia into Confederation in 1871. Canada s control for the western part of the country had been threatened when the U.S. had negotiated the purchase of Alaska from the Russians. Therefore, the Confederation was eager to officially include British Colombia as a part of Canada. He promised British Columbia that he would connect them to Eastern Canada by rail and thereby sealed the agreement. • 9. Compare And Contrast Shakespeare Sonnet 130 Sonnet 18 and Sonnet 130, were some of William Shakespeare s most famous sonnets that he ever wrote. Both sonnets are very similar with the theme of love and beauty; however they contrast each other in their purpose, style, and whom William Shakespeare is writing the sonnet to. The sonnets are both written in two different styles of writing. Sonnet18 was written in a more traditional format, which paints the woman in a divine spotlight. Sonnet 130 however contrasts Sonnet 18 by instead of describing their subject as being beautiful they rather describing them as with imperfections and how they love that subject. Shakespeare uses a complimentary tone when he wrote Sonnet 18 and uses a more ironic and satirical tone in his Sonnet 130. With the help of a complex metaphor, the tone he uses in each sonnet, and imagery, Shakespeare gives two very different takes on love and beauty.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is what is more commonly referred to as a picture. The definition of a word is a sound or combination of sounds, or its representation in writing or printing that symbolizes and communicates a meaning and may consist of a single morpheme or a combination of morphemes. Even though both the tour guide and a pamphlet told everyone exactly what the organization s purpose was, the Mural actually said more than needed to be said, without the aid of any words. One can agree with Mitchell Stephens statement in By Means of the Visible: A Picture s Worth that certain pictures can put most sentences to shame (486), because the images illustrated in this Mural put, every single word that was written in the UN pamphlet or spoken by the tour guide, to shame. They gave a deeper and more spiritual meaning, that went above and beyond the mere one dimensional meaning, of the words used, both written and spoken. Paint It, Black by the Rolling Stone was a song in which the they did experiments of sounds on. The song s form is not like a traditional song outline. It goes by the song form of Chorus/Verse 1/Verse 2/Bridge/Chorus/Outro. The instruments used in this song are 2 guitars, drums, tambourines, and a sitar. Sitar is an Indian string instrument that is like a guitar. The addition of the sitar in this song made was what made it an experimental song. When I listened to this song, in the beginning, I heard the sitar playing solo before any words were sung. Then the drums come in with this nice upbeat rhythm and tempo that made it more of a rock song. In addition, every time when Mick Jagger, said painted black in this song, he adds this emphasis to the word black of saying it for a longer duration than other words. This helped create that dark mood of the song and added an extra texture to the song. • 14. The Anxiety Of Anxiety And Hopelessness Introduction Hopelessness Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness are common in people who are unhappy. There are also some most irritating, annoying and depress feelings that repress individual s skill. Cognitive theory of depression research has shown that people with depression are struggling with the feelings of hopelessness instead of people who have no depression (Sacco and Beck, 1995). A sense of hopelessness reflects a negative view of the outlook. This includes failure, and a persistence of pain and difficulty, and expectations of personal pleasure, a belief that nothing will get better. Thoughts of negative self also reflect by hopelessness. Depressed individuals view themselves more unresponsively, their self esteem suffers, and they have little or no self confidence. They do not believe they have any control or that they can help themselves to feel better. They may have an urge to give up and think, What s the use? Research has also indicated that severe hopelessness may be a forecaster of suicide (Beck, 1987; Fawcett, 1990) Hopelessness is conceptualized as an individual s negative anticipation regarding the future and it is characterized by negative emotions, pessimistic expectations, and loss of happiness in life (Beck, Weismann, Lester, and Trexler, 1974; Heliman, Coffey Lover, Frutos. 2004) Hopelessness is having no expectations of good or success, despondent, not vulnerable to remedy or cure, incapable of redemption or improvement. This theory could relate to Anna Wintour due to the fact that she was born in England and the English culture could be argued is not one that is particularly an emotional culture especially within the early 1940 s which is when Anna was born. Anna Wintour s father Charles Wintour could also be the reason behind Anna s emotionless personality due to the fact that Charles Wintour was an editor who displayed a tough and stern personality style within the workplace and this proved to be a success for him so it may seem as if Anna is following in her father s footsteps. • 21. Reflection On Gender And Socialization Gender socialization is defined as the process in which people learn to behave according to stereotypical gender roles (Iwamoto, 2017). In my own life, gender socialization caused me to modify my actions, behaviors, and relationships. Furthermore, although I have learned that these stereotypes come from a place of generalization, and do not need to be endorsed, gender socialization still impacts me even throughout my adult life. Because my parents are both immigrants from Bangladesh, most of the gender roles I was exposed to as a child came from my family. One of the most prevalent aspects of my family, and my overall culture, is arranged marriage . Both my mom and grandma experienced an arranged marriage, and because I lived with both these women as a child, they were constantly preparing me for my own future arranged marriage. They taught me how to make tea for guests, how to cook traditional Bengali food, and how to clean the house, all before I turned 10 years old. Whenever I wanted to do something that went against what it meant to be a proper young girl, such as play with my younger brothers outside or skip making tea one time, I heard the words, No one will marry you if you act like this. When I was about 11 years old, I was sick of hearing that, so I screamed at my mom, telling her that maybe I don t want to get married. I remember the look of shock on her face so clearly, even close to a decade later. Her next words were, Well, the only other thing you can do is become a nun. Being told from such a young age that I only had two choices in my life, get married or become a nun caused me to feel continuously angry, especially at my family. I thought that nothing I did ever mattered as long as I did not find a husband, have children, and spend the rest of my life taking care of them. In this case, the specific multidimensional feminine norms I was taught to endorse were the domestic norm, which mean that women are taught to be neat and clean, the care for children norm, which mean that women are taught they should want children, and the romantic relationship norm, which mean that women are taught that relationships are needed in life (Iwamoto, 2017). I cannot tell you the number of times that I have had vocal teachers tell me that they cannot believe how high I can sing after hearing my speaking voice. Many vocal professionals tell me that I must be an alto and I have had many vocal issues. I have been told it is because teachers are pushing my voice to high and the opposite that it is because I speak too low. I blame it on being a very unhealthy human being. Research has shown a correlation between the speaking and singing voices (Phillips, 236). Poor speaking habits can lead to poor singing habits, which can lead to vocal problems. Many cases of vocal nodules have been reported in children as a result of poor speaking habits. Singing and speaking have similar physiology, which can make it difficult for students that have a poor speaking voice to then go onto having a good singing voice. The speaking voice is learned young in students and often times music teachers do not have any control over it. When the students reach our classrooms it is our job to almost reteach students how to speak so that they can sing properly. Otherwise, many of the students will develop problems that they will work on fixing for the rest of their lives. Always regarded as one who could pull through anything, Gehrig finally made it clear through this speech that battling this disease was going to be the hardest battle yet and it would prevent him continuing to do what he loved which was play baseball. Nevertheless, Gehrig did not wish to evoke sadness out of his audience, throughout his speech, he sought to give hope over despair, thankfulness over pity, and humbleness over self righteousness. It was so important that he displayed these emotions because then he would contrast to the ideals that many American people had come to believe. • 31. The Field Of Business Administration Essay The field of business administration is not as straightforward as one may perceive. While there is a specific process that business owners must undergo in order to start up their own company, there is no exact right or wrong method to create and sustain a successful business. It is ultimately up to us, as potential leaders of any organization or project, to utilize our own personal values in order to help shape a realistic vision that all of us can achieve together. Because business administration is a competitive field, there are no grounds for complacency; one has to constantly be enthusiastic about growth in order to progress. An individual needs to know what he can and can not control, in order to improve on the factors that can be controlled. A team needs to establish healthy relationships within each individual, and then develop mutual respect and understanding for one another. A corporation, with the direction of its leaders, needs to set clear, concrete, reachable goals that everybody in the organization can accomplish. The approach on how to organize, plan, and execute any given plan is subjective, yet crucial. Two separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are constitutionally permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a factor in the admissions process. Although this might have been in line with Massey s growth strategy, it made Massey sensible for the increase in the interest rates. This increase resulted in a dramatic rise of cost of Massey s short term debt. Second, Massey had an enormous amount of debt outstanding with more than 100 banks around the world which resulted in numerous covenants related to these loans. These covenants hindered Massey s free access to the capital market. Hence, Massey couldn t attract equity to finance the company and was dependent on loans. Finally, most of the borrowing from banks was unsecured. Because of the higher risk of unsecured debt, the loans were more expensive. That is, unsecured debt leads to higher interest rates. Interactive segmentation, as opposed to fully automatic one, supplies the user with means to incorporate his knowledge into the segmentation process. However, in most of the existing techniques, the suggested user interaction is not good enough since the user cannot intuitively force his knowledge into the tool or edit results easily. Therefore, in ambiguous situation, the user has to revert to tedious manual drawing. Presented method to develop as a combined segmentation and editing tool. It incorporates a simple user interface and a fast and reliable segmentation based on 1D segment matching. It can be argued that the story is not just a reflection of the events in the 20th Century but the novel reflects the events that continue to happen until today in socialism. For instance, the novel gives a glimpse of the kind of life experienced by many African Americans. They were victimized by the society and the persons in authority refuse to help them. • 49. Kant’s Deontology Religion Philosophy Essay a) What are the central features of Kant s deontolgy? Immanuel Kant believed that to live a good life is to lead a life of happiness. This is not saying that people should only live a life that brings them pleasure and satisfaction, as is often argued in Utilitarianism. Rather it is saying that to live a moral life is to live in a state of peace. For Kant, the Summum Bonum (highest good) describes the ideal, where there is both virtue and happiness. In The Fundamental Principles Kant speaks of a very comprehensive moral argument. This is of the Good Will in which he says Nothing can possibly be conceived in the world, or even out of it, which can be called good, without qualification, except a Good ... Aristotle said Man is a social animal , which means that man enjoys the association of others and may derive many advantages from it as well as alterations in thinking. Universalisability supports the idea that it would not be fair for one person to follow a maxim while another was criticized for acting the same way. However, after Kant gives the first formulation of the categorical imperative, he offers four examples of the way maxims can be derived from moral law. One of the maxims always tell the truth results from the irrationality of breaking a promise. This is a big disadvantage because Kant says you have a moral duty to tell the truth to an inquiring murderer about the location of the person he is looking for. Like in the case of the inquiring murderer, Kant does not come up with a way to resolve conflicts between the maxims: you should not lie and you should save lives . Both are good maxims but if you follow one of the maxims (don t lie), then you cannot follow the other (save lives). Other conflicts similar to this would also be unresolved although Kant argues that you cannot know the future and all the other variables involved, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tarantino, an experienced director of over 20 years at the time of the film s release, had been working on Inglourious Basterds since he wrote the script in 1998. His completed film explores the world of Nazi Germany, where unlikely protagonists strategize to end World War II. Working towards this goal, Tarantino uses the aesthetic techniques that most are familiar with in a perverted way, altering the audience s perception of the plot, characters, and Tarantino s goal. Tarantino s use of lighting helps drive his long, suspenseful scenes forward. In one instance, the 17 minute long opening scene takes place inside the dank, dimly lit house of a French farmer accused of harboring Jewish refugees. The lowkey, selective lighting keeps the menacing Nazi Colonel Landa s face partly enshrouded in darkness, with fast falloff. On the other hand, the farmer s face remains well lit as he lies about the refugees hiding underneath his floorboards. However, he begins to blow his cover, and while his face gets darker, the Colonel Landa s face gets brighter, to clarify the shift in power. This scene s tension is driven by the lowkey lighting...
