Plaster Of Paris
I. Purpose:
The purpose of the experiment is to determine how a mold and cast constructs fossils. The hypothesis
is a fossil mold will form after the plaster of paris is set and dried out. The justification for the
hypothesis is a cast will form when an animal or plant is covered in sediments. Once the sediments
start to harden into a rock state the fossil will become captured and preserved. (Wile, 159 162)
II. Materials:
1. Modeling clay or Play Doh
2. Plaster of paris
3. A paper plate
4. A shell or something with a distinctive design
5. Vaseline or another kind of petroleum jelly
6. Eye protection
III. Procedure:
The shell was covered in petroleum jelly then set on the counter while the modeling clay was being
stretched out on plate. Once the modeling clay was stretched out so it was two times bigger then the
shell, the shell was firmly pushed into the clay. Before the shell was removed the plaster of paris was
mixed together using the direction on the package. When the shell was removed it formed the mold,
the plaster of paris was poured over the mold until the mold was filled. The plate was ... Show more

A mold is formed when an animal or plant are captured in sediments later hardening into sedimentary
rock. Fossils are typically found in sedimentary rock because igneous rock is created with magma at a
temperature too high for an organic remains to survive. Metaphoric rock is created when sedimentary
or igneous rock has a high temperature and has high pressure. A fossil is able to form in metaphoric
rock but the pressure and heat the fossil is disconfirmed and useless. (Reference, Why Are Fossils
Only Found in Sedimentary Rock? ) Weathering will start to affect the rocks form and mainly the
fossil captured inside. Weathering normally has more affect on the fossil causing the fossil inside to
disintegrate. Sometimes the rock will break open and then the only fossil remaining is a mold. (Wile,

Mahatma Gandhi As A Champion Of Rhetoric
After carefully reviewing all the candidates, I finally chose who I believe could be the next champion
of rhetoric. Before Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr there was another champion that was not
mentioned in the book. That champion is Mahatma Gandhi. I am interested in Mahatma Gandhi
because of his principles and the way he led his people. Anyone can just sit through it all and do
nothing. There are also people that think that violence and fear will be the solution of the problem, but
Gandhi made a difference by using his words. Everybody knows Gandhi because he used those non
violent acts, like fasting to protest. For example, when he was thrown in jail, he fasted and eventually
they let him out. The reason why they let him out was because they didn t want him to die. If he died,
the British knew that would mean trouble for them. After the British raised the tax on salt, Gandhi and
others decided to protest against them. As a result, Gandhi led the people to the ocean so they can
make their own salt. As he led them he was fully aware of the risks. As I stated before, people were
not only moved by his actions but also his words. After he determined who was his audience, then he
was able to compose a speech that would eventually sway them. Usually, the main purpose of his
speeches was to persuade his people into taking action for a better quality of life and even sometimes
to inform his people about some of the things that were going on. One of those examples is The

Bumper Stickers Pest Analysis
I would want potential voters to view the sticker as a clean, organized statement. I utilized serif font to
portray a more sophisticated delivery to my bumper sticker. By using serif, the overall effect of the
bumper sticker has a more confident, strong feel. If I had used sans serif it would have given a more
causal display, something I would not want people to infer from my presidential bumper sticker. The
powerful, bold font is easy to read and come off as strong;or something that could stand alone. The
kerning of the sticker, I feel, is just right. It is not too far apart so it is hard to read or too close together
for the eyes to read. To read a bumper sticker effortlessly, is something all politicians should utilize.

Rebirth Of The Middle Ages
Renaissance means rebirth this means the rebirth of the Middle Ages or the dark ages a time where the
majority of the population was illiterate and a time where the church had almost absolute power. The
Renaissance made Information readily available and allowed people to have an education. Careers and
Professions were created because of the rise in literacy and the Renaissance was established. The
Renaissance was changed man s view of the world by and evolution of art, Literature, and Science and
technology. Evolution of art changed man s view on the world because art had become about the
individual more than the church or religious figures. Artist were better recognized because of this
change, and their art created stronger emotions into the subject. ... Show more content on

Science in the Renaissance was leagues above middle age science this is because of the changes made
and the findings made In the middle ages the commonly accepted model of the solar system was the
geocentric (earth centered) model of the galaxy but a scientist named Nicolaus Copernicus thought
that the geocentric models physics and math was incorrect and devised a heliocentric model (sun
centered) of the galaxy. Because the threat from the church was still high he did not want to be killed
because of heresy and kept his model a secret even when he died he didn t release it until later when it
was applied. The anatomy of the human was also questioned in the Renaissance. This became
apparent when actual experiments and dissections were done on human beings. The Renaissance
discovery showed that human s bodies were not governed by the constellations but by themselves.
Middle ages thought was that the constellations and the different horoscopes governed different parts
of your body. After this discovery one can infer that medicine evolved and changed to be efficient and

Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing
In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer the question of
whether machines can think in the same humans can by conceptualizing the question in concrete
terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the question by posing whether a machine can replicate the
cognition of a human being. Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively
captures the nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his
Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines apparent
replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding. While Searle s Chinese
thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not sufficient to establish that a machine can
possess consciousness or thought, this argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable
of consciousness or thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the
intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the conscious experience of
machines as well as the consciousness of humans by extension of that principle. In attempting to
answer the question of whether machines are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the
notion of machines effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such
effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are concealed from an
interrogator who makes

Atlantic Ocean Battle Definition
On April 12, 1861, the war began when the Confederated attacked Union soldiers at Fort Sumter,
South Carolina. The Civil War for the next four years was battled out in thousands of different
locations. They ranged from southern Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida Coast, New Mexico, and many
places in between. It was a wide range of land to fight but mainly was fought on Southern Ground.
The majority of the battles that took place during this time were in the States of Tennessee and
Virginia, but also in the Atlantic Ocean battles took place. The war ended in the spring of 1865 where
the last battle was found at Palmito Ranch in Texas on May 13, 1865. This war was defined as, a

The Impacts Of The Darfur Crisis
It is about fourteen years now since the outbreak of the bloody conflict in Darfur region, western part
of the Republic of Sudan. The crisis in Darfur is not an unintentional tragedy, or a human devastation
that humanitarian intercession can annul or solve. Darfur conflict is as not straightforward as
presented in the media, which casts the clash in requisite ethnic conflicts between Arabs and black
Africans. The veracity is far more messed up. It is a human being catastrophe that finally reinvented
into a sadistic cycle of brutality in February, 2003.
The Darfur crisis is not only a predicament for the Sudanese, but is also a regional quandary. The

The Importance Of Voter Participation In The United States
The dispute between rather or not the voting age should be lowered to 16 is questionable. On one hand
you have veteran voters that believe it should not. With the possibility of it lowering the percentage of
voting participation. Also, you have the youth that wants to be included. It may not be benificial to all.
From 1948 to 2012 voter participation has changed very little. 51 percent to 62 percent is a small
increase in 64 years. In 2012 The United States voter anticipation was 38 percent. Were as most voters

Carrie Fisher Research Paper
Carrie Fisher was born on October 21, 1959 in Los Angeles. She was born into Hollywood royalty.
Her mother was Debbie Reynolds, a famous Hollywood actress and her father was Eddie Fisher a
famous American singer and actor. Carrie Fisher became something of a celebrity herself when she
starred in Star Wars (1977) becoming more than a famous actor, but an American icon. Carrie Fisher s
image of Princess Leia is recognizable to people who have never even seen a Star Wars film. She
became an instant world star. Yet, with all the success Carrie Fisher had a dark secret. She was ill. She
wasn t going to die, but she was mentally ill suffering from bipolar disorder (Memoirs 12). This would

Under Western Eyes Sparknotes
Feminist Foundations
As the feminist movement has progressed through several generations it has shifted quite a bit in its
general approach and theory. Contemporary writers such as Baumgardner and Richards, and Henry
have illustrated a generational shift away from structurally aimed actions, and towards individual acts
of subversion and small political actions (Baumgardner and Richards 126 202). This current course is
very similar to the direction of other highly organic movements such as sustained dialogue. Feminism
though, is particularly well documented, justified, and understood. Thus by comparing the feminist
movement s present tack to that of sustained dialogue, it will be possible to gain insight into the
direction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would like to expand this and say that the dominant culture s constant barrage of feedback may
obscure mocking or satirical actions for the actual individuals performing them. It is quite possible
that enactors of contextual actions will be applauded by the dominant culture which misses the
subtlety, and that this may lead to an obfuscation of their message or even to a corruption of their own
beliefs as the appeal of acceptance becomes increasingly prevalent.
Contextual actions are directed at subversion based on an individual s defined sense of identity, but
these actions may become greatly skewed as the context is removed or modified. In her essay Under
Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses. , Chandra Talpade Mohanty
demonstrates how we misunderstand oppression within other cultures because we do not understand
the specific context of women in that culture (Mohanty 335, 337, 340). We can use this to draw a
parallel to our contextual actions, in that individuals outside of the context may miss the significance
of an action. This occurs not only for individuals in different situations within the same dominant
culture, but more severely for individuals of different cultures. The problem here is that because
individuals do not understand a particular action as being subversive the result is that the deed
normalizes a certain behavior as being what is

bloodmac Shakespeare s Macbeth
Blood and Sleep Imagery in Macbeth
Macbeth screams imagery! Shakespeare uses imagery of blood and sleep to create an atmosphere of
horror, during the killing of Duncan, which contributes to our sense of Macbeth s growing insanity.
Eventually Lady Macbeth s final scene is enhanced with the use of blood imagery which reflects her
guilt. Shakespeare s use of imagery connects the feeling of horror from audience to play.
Macbeth held such potential for himself. He was honoured Thane of Cawdor, and who knows what
else Duncan had in store for him. Unfortunately he chose not to find out, by murdering the king. The
scene of Duncan s murder (II, ii) demonstrates the guilt and feeling that the blood diffuses into ...

The blood that is shed thickens the plot; a sense of horror is portrayed.
Duncan s murder has an affect on Macbeth; he is scared and can t face what he has done. He keeps
insisting that he heard voices saying that he will never sleep again because of this terrible deed he has
committed, Methought I heard a voice cry sleep no more! Macbeth doth murder sleep the innocent
sleep... Macbeth s reaction to Duncan s death at least shows some sort of guilt or sympathy for him;
however, by the time Macbeth has his best friend, Banquo murdered his sanity ceases to exist. The
interest that Macbeth has in hearing the details of Banquo s murder, his best friends murder, holds
complete insanity. The Murderer enters with blood upon his face Macbeth approaches him to find out
if he did his job. He finds out that Banquo s throat has been cut, and that he lies in a ditch covered in
gashes. My lord, his throat is cut that I did for him. , Ay, my good lord: safe in a ditch he bides, with
twenty trenched gashes on his head... Macbeth s philosophy, Things bad begun make strong
themselves by ill. Means do something once, it bother s you, do it again, it bothers you less, keep
doing it and it stops bothering you completely. Macbeth s interest on how the blood was shed shows
intense signs of craziness. The blood imagery in this scene starts to pass a feeling of uneasiness to the
audience.

In the event that we as a collective society choose that majority rules system does not merit
surrendering, that power is most secure in our grasp as opposed to in the individuals who have the
pathology to be driven towards control in any case, then we should be more proactive. Above all else,
we have to completely understand that at whatever point any gathering of individuals has a lopsided
impact over government arrangement, majority rules system has endured a serious blow, period. There
are no exemptions. On the off chance that feedback of government or corporate action in the US, is
naturally labeled unpatriotic or un American, then the America that is being protected is strongly not a
majority rules system and subsequently not worth protecting. Furthermore, we have to see precisely
how the individuals are controlled into getting along the offering of their pioneers and the
multinationals, so glaringly against their own advantage. We have to comprehend the strategies for
control.
Media possession is vital to the control of society. Control the individuals, and you control their vote.
You either control the media by owning it or by doing favors to the individuals who own it. In the
United States, vast companies possess the media and these, thus, get favors from the Government as

Compare The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Genesis
The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis are both texts from Ancient Mesopotamia that tell the stories of
the people on Earth, trials of kingship, and floods. Both were assumed to be written between 2100
B.C. and 1300 B.C., but we cannot be absolutely sure of the date or the author because there is no
evidence to support the dates said. The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis were both historical books,
focused on higher beings, with the intent of telling the stories of the people from that time period and
teaching important morals in current days. Genesis, written in the Hebrew Bible, surrounded the idea
on monotheism, the belief in one god, while The Epic of Gilgamesh surrounds the idea of polytheism,
belief in multiple gods. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis, knowledge plays an extremely
important role because it changes innocence to experience, it leads to characters deaths, and
differentiates between being civilized and being civilized. The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis both
show that knowledge is important because it changes innocence to experience. And they heard the
sound of the Lord God walking about in the garden in the evening breeze, and the human and his
woman hid from the Lord God in the midst of the trees of the garden (Genesis 3). When Adam and
Eve partake of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, their innocence turned to experience as
they felt fear for the first time and hid from God. Their experience, after it has come from innocence,

China. In the speech, Mao argued that the fate of Chinese revolution must be held in hands of
proletariats, and as a leading result, the revolution must construct China as a socialism country. Two

In the speech, Mao emphasized three major concepts: 1. Different from any other socialism revolution
happened before, Chinese revolution was in form of both capitalism and socialism ideology. The
revolution was initiated by elite class, representing capitalism, but promoted and developed by
workers and peasants, representing communism. Mao focus discussing about it in the fifth part of
speech, by directly indicating Therefore, the proletariat, the peasantry, the intelligentsia and the other
sections of the petty bourgeoisie undoubtedly constitute the basic forces determining China s fate .
(Page 10, Mao) 2. The Chinese revolution can be broke into two parts, and these two parts must be
completed step by step. Mao argued only after China finished the new democratic revolution against
imperialism and feudalism it could start the socialism revolution. Mao also had a famous quote
describing the revolution process: We should clean up dirt in our living room before welcoming the
guest , in which dirt symbolizes semi colonial status from Qing dynasty and guest symbolizes the
bright future for China. 3. New democratic China should be rebuilt both politically and economically.
Mao brought out his argument in fifth and sixth part of the speech, and demonstrated in the following

Of Symbolism In Radiohead s OK Computer

vulnerability through repeating symbolism, lyrical metaphors, and
By using repeating symbolic imagery, OK Computer shows that ruling power structures, like religion
and corporations, center around vulnerability in how they gain influence and in how they are
motivated. Additionally, in order to maintain their influence, these powers have to put up a front of
indestructibility while also managing internal struggles. Planes crashes are depicted throughout the
album s artwork, a symbol of innovation and monetary means that has failed and brought people down
with it. Planes, much like corporations, are supposed to have very few chinks in their armor, but both
can go down; both are vulnerable under their guise of perfection. There is also the case of religion,
where a statue of Jesus is seen being worshipped by a considerably smaller family. Religion is a form
of protection, both for the herd immunity and for the surety of an afterlife, and the family is beneath,
quite vulnerable. However, the statue is white, like the scribbles surrounding it, while the family is not
and would take more work to scribble over because of this. This suggests that religion can be
consumed easily and has less control over modern life than in previous centuries. When the statue
appears again, it is a hand behind a

The Effect Of Leadership And Teachers On Students Achievement
Abstract
Each school in Australia strives to create an environment in which all students have equal access to
quality education which can enable them to become successful contributors to society. This paper aims
to examine the research on the effect of leadership and teachers on student achievement. It will
examine the research on leadership styles and the effects that leadership has on teachers and student
achievement.
Introduction
Australia, like most developed nations, has seen dramatic educational reforms over the past 60 years,
with the desire to improve student achievement and create a productive workforce and economy. Our
education system must allow each individual to reach their potential regardless of their economic
means and enable them to live a life of meaning and purpose (Teaching Talent). The shift in
educational practice has been a result of a greater understanding of what actually impacts students
achievement. The 1960 s to present day has seen a significant shift in the idea that student
achievement is solely dependent on the social background of the student to the current view that
schools via teachers and leadership can have a significant effect on student achievement. The teacher
has the greatest impact on student learning but a teacher does not exist in isolation. The principal plays
a significant role in providing high impact policies and practices which support teachers and therefore
indirectly has an impact on student achievement.

Lord Of The Flies Conch Analysis
Is there such a thing as a game bringing joy and rage? A test bringing confidence and frustration?
What about a conch bringing order and destruction? In the book Lord Of The Flies by William
Golding, there are a group of boys who get stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere. This is
also happening during WWII. The boys assign each other roles. The leader is a boy named Ralph. A
group of hunters is lead by a boy named Jack. The first couple of days on the Island are fine. They
made a fire to signal anyone so that they can get rescued, and they made shelters. Later on in the story,
civilization quickly unravels as almost all the boys are taken over by their savage instincts because of
fear of this creature they call The Beast. In this story, there are many symbols based on objects and
colors. There is even a conch in this story. The conch in Lord Of The Flies begins as order, becomes a
loss of hope, and concludes as being an end to order by being destroyed by savagery. In the beginning
of the story Lord Of The Flies the conch represents order. When Ralph and Piggy first found the
conch, they used it to call a meeting and alert the other boys where they were. On page 16 in Lord Of
The Flies, Piggy says to Ralph We can use this to call the others. Have a meeting. They ll come when
they hear us . What Piggy is saying that Ralph should use the conch to call the others. This shows that
the conch represents order. The boys even use the conch for calling meetings

is one of the most common drugs in a geriatric setting especially atenolol. Beta blockers are the
standard of therapy for many cardiovascular conditions and it is the main line of treatment in
decreasing risk of stroke. According to Ladage, Schwinger, and Brixius (2013) beta blocker was more
effective in decreasing mortality and morbidity rate in acute coronary syndrome patients. Atenolol is a
water soluble and had longer half lives with non metabolized actions and excreted via the kidneys
(Ladage et al., 2013). The exercise capacity increases in patients who are on beta blockers, like
bisoprolol, nebivolol, carvedilol (Ladage et al., 2013). A recent meta analysis study showed patients
who are untreated with hypertension, they are at risk of developing chronic kidney diseases,
cardiovascular complications, and cerebrovascular complications (Butt Harvey, 2015). In one study,

different ideas shared on how to overcome the addiction. It seems to me that everyone is fine when
they are together at the meeting, because by talking it takes their minds off of the drugs or the alcohol.
So the question that I am asking is when these people go back out into the world, and the group is not
there, and a problem occurs are they going to resort back to the substance. Another thing that I really
didn t like was the way they introduced themselves. I don t agree with putting a title after your name,
like I m an alcoholic. To me, that makes a person feel lowly about him or herself, and they will go
through life always feeling that they are an alcoholic or a drug addict. I feel that that needs to be
changed very badly. I think it should be Hi, my name is Gino, and I am here because I have a drinking
or a drug problem and I need help to overcome it. So if that person overcomes it, they will say I
accomplished something.
I honestly believe that these meetings work to a certain extent. I believe very strongly that a person
can overcome an alcohol or a drug problem. The meetings

How the Civil Rights Movement Influenced the Women s...
The civil rights movement influenced the women s liberation movement in four key ways. First, it
provided women with a model for success on how a successful movement should organize itself.
Second, the civil rights movement broadened the concept of leadership to include women. Third, by
fighting for equality, the civil rights movement changed the culture of advocacy and made social
justice a legitimate cause. Finally, by eventually excluding women, the civil rights movement spurred
women to organize their own movement. Without the civil rights movement, the women s movement
likely would never taken off on its own. The civil rights movement (and the activists involved) gave
women a model for success. The method the civil rights movement ... Show more content on

Black women eventually earned college and graduate degrees and sought full time employment in
higher rates than either black men or white women, while maintaining a community service ethic. The
civil rights movement broadened the definition of leadership to include women, and left an impression
of women as powerful and determined activists. Jo An Robinson and Ella Baker are just two of the
many women who were able to take charge and make an impact on the movement. Robinson led the
Women s Political Council, which plotted strategy for a one day bus boycott in Montgomery following
Rosa Parks arrest. The Council was able to recruit clergy to lend their churches for mass meetings and
was able to tap into a new minister in town, Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. to lead the Montgomery
Improvement Association, which would coordinate the larger Montgomery Bus Boycotts . It was the
women that organized this key moment in the civil rights movement which was, in fact, spurred by a
woman, Rosa Parks, refusing to take her seat in the back of the bus. Ella Baker was similarly key in
the Civil Rights movement. She was instrumental in organizing a conference of student sit in activists
in 1960, forming the beginning of what would become the SNCC. By educating and fostering
leadership, Baker helped members to see themselves as potential leaders regardless of race or gender.

we believed were a good fit for recruiting and/or recommending students to the program.
In addition, we anticipated that institutions would feel a greater commitment to the program if they

Street Children
INTRODUCTION
One of the miseries brought by the modern civilization is the situation of the street children. In the old
times, and still now in some areas, children worked with their parents and reamed a lot of things from
them; later, children looked after aged parents, and therefore much value was put on children, and
there was strong bond of affection between parents and child. However, now it has changed. Parents
go to work, and children do not go to work with them. Children only cost much money for food and
education. Parents of a poor family are suffering from much financial stress. As the stress becomes
bigger, their love for their children decreases. Then, a home, which should be a place children receive
affection, becomes a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eighteen outreach workers were recruited and assigned to fifteen cities. These workers did referrals,
conducted actual outreach on the streets, conducted interviews, made initial contact with families or
elatives, and prepared initials diagnosis and action plans. In Manila and Davao City, MSSD provided
temporary shelter, intake, counseling and referral services through drop in centers. Reception and
action centers run by two city governments receive street children picked up by police for various
offenses. Under the City of Man concept of the former First Lady Imelda Marcos, street children were
regarded as nuisance and eyesore, they had to be eliminated from the street. Temporary shelter,
counseling and value inculcation seminars with families were made available. However, these efforts
provided little impact on their situation. Most of them went back on the street after their release form
the shelter since they had no other alternative to earn a living. From 1984 to 1990 two networks of non
government social development agencies were organized for advocacy, capability building and
coordination. These agencies supported rehabilitation programs for street children and prevention
programs that helped deter child trafficking. The first programs started with a committee of five
agencies, under the Council of Welfare Agencies of the Philippines, Inc. (CWAPI), now known as the
National Council for social Development Foundation (NCSDF). By

South Africa s Location Of The Continent Of Africa
South Africa is a located at the very bottom of the continent of Africa. It is surrounded on three sides
by the Atlantic Ocean by the West and South and the Indian Ocean to the East. To the North it
boarders Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Swaziland. One interesting thing is that
there is a landlocked, surrounded on all sides by land, country of Lesotho. This is evident by Map 1,
shown below, that shows South Africa in the red box and the darker brown country within South
Africa being Lesotho. Which still remains true today, Lesotho is still its own country with an unsettled
relationship with South Africa. Map 1: South Africa s location on Africa (South Africa, 2015) The
country has a very long history from our great ancestors to the extremely wide variety of wild and
unique animals. However, this land has been under quite a bit of bloodshed and insatiability. From its
days of slave trade, British control and the bloody revolutions these people have been through, it has
shaped the country as a whole. The one thing that seems to have impacted the development of the
country has been the issue of disease and the mortality rate of woman and children. One thing that
could be done to greatly reduce these issues would be to invest more in the sanitation of the available
water resources. This issue has been in progress of being improved but is lagging behind due to the
decolonization of the country. During negotiations with the African National Congress, the South

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, By Maya Angelou
In I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou, Maya learns just how critical books are to
everyone and learns to be dependent on them over other people because while everything around her
is changing, books, writing and literature are always there to be her friend. Everything Maya was
dependent on, before she discovered books, (her mother, Momma, Bailey, her family, her educators
and her home) are so unstable throughout the whole book that she can not depend on them. However,
through all of that, books are always there and they are critical to her.
Maya Angelou writes As quickly as I had not reached my home, I sneaked away to Robin Hood s
forest and the caves of Ally Oop where all reality was unreal and even that changed everyday
(Angelou, 70) which states that, as Maya arrives to her house, she realizes it s not her home. As
upsetting as that sounds, she immediately turns to books which make her feel better so quickly. This
quote directly shows that it does not matter to Maya if, in a sense, she is homeless as long as she has

young people who have a positive sense of wellbeing are less likely to be vulnerable to abuse, harm or

During the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, changes in the dynamics of society caused intellectuals
to question the traditions of everyday life. From religious views to the arts of literature, traditional
values and forms were rejected, thus defining a line between the two time periods, which can be
considered as the start of the Modern era. Also known as Modernism, the modern era used literature as
an outlet for expressing the thoughts and feelings of the time. Modern texts use city life,

Analysis Of The Devil In The White City
In the 1890s, the upcoming Columbian Exposition was all that the people of the United States talked
about. Nicknamed World s Fair, it was supposed to lead America through the 20th century and into the
future. The fair was designed in the hopes of outshining the Paris Exposition and its main attraction
the Eiffel Tower, yet no man was able to tell of the trials and tribulation at the fair and its architects
would face in the years leading up to the exposition and in the aftermath of it. The Devil In The White
City, written by Erik Larson, is a nonfiction text that goes in depth into the murder, magic, and
madness that took place during the time of the World s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Larson
mainly focused on two extremely important people who he believed transformed the World s Fair.
Daniel Hudson Burnham, the leading architect, and director of the fair and the Urban Serial Killer, Dr.
H. H. Holmes, previously known as Herman Webster Mudgett. Throughout the duration of the text,
Larson constantly switches back and forth from the separate, yet intertwined stories of Burnham and
Holmes. Larson explores Burnham s role in the construction of the fair and Holmes path to corruption.
Through the telling of the events that lead up to the fair and after it, Larson makes the argument that
appearances can be deceiving and that the shell of beauty can hide danger and evil. While Holmes was
the obvious devil/serial murderer and Burnham can be credited with building the White

A Midsummer Night s Dream Essay
A Midsummer NIght s Dream A Midsummer Night s Dream is a classical play written by William
Shakespeare. It is one of his more eccentric piece of work. The play is about the struggle of love

With so many different ways to go about doing the same thing, it s important to find the way you re
comfortable with. Being an engineer, I decided to make a 3D prototype model of the sword Ike uses.
When it comes to making something fictional or incredibly difficult to replicate, following the
prototyping process can help you save time and money in the future. In the words of Mr. John Ouimet,
Prototyping is used any time you are going to make something, whether you are doing hardcore
engineering or . . . it takes on many different appearances. You can simulate many of the earlier steps
with just a computer. However, what does the word prototype actually mean? Prototyping is the
process of making an early sample of a product, built to test a concept or process, or it s a thing meant
to be replicated or learned from. However, it is not just limited to the engineering field; it can also be
applied to the arts and sciences. One form of prototyping one could use is called 3D printing, where
you have to design an object using a 3D modeling software and send it to a 3D printer to be printed.
Generally speaking, this is a relatively fast and cheap method of making a prototype, as the materials
are fairly cheap, and you can design what you want printed from the comfort of your own home. The
type of machine you use will affect the parts quality. With a higher end printer, you can print

Absolutism In The Seventeenth Century Analysis
During the seventeenth century, England experienced periods of growth and decline due to the
presence of absolutism in the government. The weaknesses of England s absolute monarchies led to
the creation of the constitutional monarchy, which remains as England s form of government in
modern times. Through influential events such as the English Civil War, the Restoration, and the
Glorious Revolution, England made reforms to political hierarchies. England faced a period of turmoil
under the reign of Charles I. Parliament and Charles I disagreed on financial affairs, which led to
discord. As a result, the Petition of Right was created to ensure certain rights for Parliament and
England s citizens. The Petition of Right implied that the law was higher than a monarch; the idea of a
balanced government was foreign when absolutism was at its peak in Europe. After signing the
document, Charles consistently ignored Parliament in favor of his own agenda. Over time, his
decreasing popularity instigated the English Civil War. His supporters and opponents fought for
political dominance in England. Eventually, Oliver Cromwell led Charles opponents to victory. After

In this study the researcher investigate, Indian consumer migration towards Luxury brands form value
middle tier brands. The findings suggest that there is significant difference with the gender difference,
social status, price, quality to purchase a luxury good. There is a higher association between the
annual household income and Purchase of luxury goods
It clearly says that affordability, quality, availability, celebrity, self satisfaction, image and social status
are the key drivers to the migration of consumers to Luxury brands from value middle tier branded
goods. It confirms the view that brand perception and purchase value is, apart from socially oriented
motives of buying to impress others also affected by financial, functional, and individual aspects. It
would seem that the dimensions presented in this paper are appropriate variables for segmenting the

Which antacid brand is most effective at neutralizing the excess stomach acid produced during

neutralizing acid. The hypothesis that was reached was incorrect. The CVS generic brand was able to
neutralize stomach acid using the lowest average amount of antacid. Over three trials, it is clear that

This means that the amounts of acid and antacids may not have been equal for each trial. The size of
the drops of acid and antacid could have been different. There are many ways that every experiment
could be improved. One way would be to have two name brand antacids and two generic antacids.
This would ve helped us to figure out whether or not generic brands were better than name brands.
Another way to improve the experiment would be to use larger amounts of the hydrochloric acid for
each trial. Although it would be more expensive, the experiment would be more realistic to what
people go through when they get heartburn. Also, using smaller amounts makes it harder to define
whether or not the data is accurate. Since the units are smaller, it is a bigger difference when the data
is inconsistent. The information gathered from this lab can easily be applied to the real world. Looking
at the data, Rite Aid s antacid was only effective when you used the same amount of acid as antacid.

A Study On Polycystic Kidney Disease ( Pkd )
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is a genetic disorder primarily affecting the kidneys. It is
characterized by growth of numerous cysts on the kidneys (McPhee, Papadakis Rabow, 2014). The
kidneys primary job is to filter the waste products from the blood into urine and ultimately out of the
body. The cysts are primarily fluid filled and when they become enlarged, they interfere the normal
functioning of the kidneys, leading to enlarged kidney (McPhee et al., 2014). When the enlarged
kidney stops properly functioning leading kidney failure. It may take years before the kidneys totally
loose function and then require dialysis, which is in only about half of the patients diagnosed with
PKD. According to National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearing House (NKUDIC)
(2007), mutations in genes PKD1, PKD2 and PKHD1 cause polycystic kidney disease. Defects in the
formation of epithelial cells and their cilium result in cyst formation and obstruction that is followed
by destruction of renal parenchyma, interstitial fibrosis, and loss of functional nephrons (McCance,
Heuther, Brasher, 2014). The renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular organs are the
most common systems affected by PKD (McPhee et al., 2014).
There are two major inherited forms of PKD. One is autosomal dominant PKD and the other is
autosomal recessive PKD. According to National Human Genomic Research Institute (2013),
autosomal dominant is the most common form of inheritance. To

Cons of Death Penalty.
Their a many cons to the death penalty. One is that during lethal injection does not always work and
by that I mean that many things could go wrong. A few things are that they always can t find a vein.
This happens because heroin and drug users, their veins go deep because of the drug abuse. Also not
always the drugs injected work the the inmate could stay awake and see and feel everything. This is
very painful if you didn t know. According to the New Republic a inmate named Angel Diaz was
sentenced to the capital punishment by lethal injection. The execution went completely wrong. The IV

Analysis Of The Human Struggle In Native Guard And Heart...
Throughout its history, humanity has struggled to thrive in the face of the unstoppable forces of evil,
nature, and its own mortality. When examining the history of humanity and considering its
achievements, it is tempting to imagine that humans have achieved much as a species, that they have
made progress against the forces gathered in opposition to them. However, when the cost is revealed,
when the human life paid in the name of that meager progress is counted, the results seem to pale in
comparison. The graves of the dead serve as a monument to this grim reality; humanity s efforts to
combat the advance of human evil, nature, and death are in vain. Both Natasha Trethewey and Joseph

In the poem Elegy for the Native Guards, Trethewey states that there are no names carved for the
Native Guards 2nd Regiment, Union men, black phalanx. What is monument to their legacy?
(Trethewey 44). They receive no honorable grave. They receive the most barbaric of burial rites,
doomed to have fish dart among their bones (Trethewey 44). The bodies of the native guard are cast
out of sight into the ocean, neglected in an attempt to forget the evils committed against them. Their
forgotten and neglected grave symbolizes the futility of fighting against the racism of America, as well
as the futility in concealing it; even when man has destroyed all other evidence, the bones remain to
testify to the past and remind the visitors that no change has been made in the present. Humanity s
discomfort with its past atrocities can never become powerful enough to overcome the reminder
represented by the graves of the fallen. Despite its efforts to conceal its evil, the graves of the fallen
Native Guard remind humanity that the past can never be defeated and hidden. When Trethaway visits
her mother s grave in the poem Monument, she notes the ants digging up the earth in which her
mother is buried. She remarks that the grave and the ant mound serve as a reminder of what [she] hasn
t done. Even now the mound is a blister on [her] heart, a red and humming swarm (Trethewey 43).

  • 2. Plaster Of Paris I. Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to determine how a mold and cast constructs fossils. The hypothesis is a fossil mold will form after the plaster of paris is set and dried out. The justification for the hypothesis is a cast will form when an animal or plant is covered in sediments. Once the sediments start to harden into a rock state the fossil will become captured and preserved. (Wile, 159 162) II. Materials: 1. Modeling clay or Play Doh 2. Plaster of paris 3. A paper plate 4. A shell or something with a distinctive design 5. Vaseline or another kind of petroleum jelly 6. Eye protection III. Procedure: The shell was covered in petroleum jelly then set on the counter while the modeling clay was being stretched out on plate. • 3. Mahatma Gandhi As A Champion Of Rhetoric After carefully reviewing all the candidates, I finally chose who I believe could be the next champion of rhetoric. Before Barack Obama and Martin Luther King Jr there was another champion that was not mentioned in the book. That champion is Mahatma Gandhi. I am interested in Mahatma Gandhi because of his principles and the way he led his people. Anyone can just sit through it all and do nothing. There are also people that think that violence and fear will be the solution of the problem, but Gandhi made a difference by using his words. Everybody knows Gandhi because he used those non violent acts, like fasting to protest. For example, when he was thrown in jail, he fasted and eventually they let him out. The reason why they let him out was because they didn t want him to die. If he died, the British knew that would mean trouble for them. After the British raised the tax on salt, Gandhi and others decided to protest against them. As a result, Gandhi led the people to the ocean so they can make their own salt. As he led them he was fully aware of the risks. As I stated before, people were not only moved by his actions but also his words. After he determined who was his audience, then he was able to compose a speech that would eventually sway them. Usually, the main purpose of his speeches was to persuade his people into taking action for a better quality of life and even sometimes to inform his people about some of the things that were going on. • 6. Computing Machinery And Intelligence By Alan Turing In his paper Computing Machinery and Intelligence, Alan Turing sets out to answer the question of whether machines can think in the same humans can by conceptualizing the question in concrete terms. In simple terms, Turing redefines the question by posing whether a machine can replicate the cognition of a human being. Yet, some may object to the notion that Turing s new question effectively captures the nature of machines capacity for thought or consciousness, such as John Searle. In his Chinese room thought experiment, Searle outlines a scenario that implies machines apparent replication of human cognition does not yield conscious understanding. While Searle s Chinese thought experiment demonstrates how a Turing test is not sufficient to establish that a machine can possess consciousness or thought, this argument does not prove that machines are absolutely incapable of consciousness or thought. Rather, given the ongoing uncertainty of the debate regarding the intelligence of machines, there can be no means to confirm or disconfirm the conscious experience of machines as well as the consciousness of humans by extension of that principle. In attempting to answer the question of whether machines are able to think, Turing redesigns the question around the notion of machines effectiveness at mimicking human cognition. Turing proposes to gauge such effectiveness by a variation of an imitation game, where a man and a woman are concealed from an interrogator who makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Contextual actions are directed at subversion based on an individual s defined sense of identity, but these actions may become greatly skewed as the context is removed or modified. In her essay Under Western Eyes: Feminist Scholarship and Colonial Discourses. , Chandra Talpade Mohanty demonstrates how we misunderstand oppression within other cultures because we do not understand the specific context of women in that culture (Mohanty 335, 337, 340). We can use this to draw a parallel to our contextual actions, in that individuals outside of the context may miss the significance of an action. • 14. Compare The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Genesis The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis are both texts from Ancient Mesopotamia that tell the stories of the people on Earth, trials of kingship, and floods. Both were assumed to be written between 2100 B.C. and 1300 B.C., but we cannot be absolutely sure of the date or the author because there is no evidence to support the dates said. The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis were both historical books, focused on higher beings, with the intent of telling the stories of the people from that time period and teaching important morals in current days. Genesis, written in the Hebrew Bible, surrounded the idea on monotheism, the belief in one god, while The Epic of Gilgamesh surrounds the idea of polytheism, belief in multiple gods. In the Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis, knowledge plays an extremely important role because it changes innocence to experience, it leads to characters deaths, and differentiates between being civilized and being civilized. The Epic of Gilgamesh and Genesis both show that knowledge is important because it changes innocence to experience. And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking about in the garden in the evening breeze, and the human and his woman hid from the Lord God in the midst of the trees of the garden (Genesis 3). Radiohead s OK Computer reveals that society s obsession with hiding vulnerability through repeating symbolism, lyrical metaphors, and By using repeating symbolic imagery, OK Computer shows that ruling power structures, like religion and corporations, center around vulnerability in how they gain influence and in how they are motivated. There is also the case of religion, where a statue of Jesus is seen being worshipped by a considerably smaller family. Religion is a form of protection, both for the herd immunity and for the surety of an afterlife, and the family is beneath, quite vulnerable. However, the statue is white, like the scribbles surrounding it, while the family is not and would take more work to scribble over because of this. The Effect Of Leadership And Teachers On Students Achievement Abstract Each school in Australia strives to create an environment in which all students have equal access to quality education which can enable them to become successful contributors to society. This paper aims to examine the research on the effect of leadership and teachers on student achievement. It will examine the research on leadership styles and the effects that leadership has on teachers and student achievement. Introduction Australia, like most developed nations, has seen dramatic educational reforms over the past 60 years, with the desire to improve student achievement and create a productive workforce and economy. Our education system must allow each individual to reach their potential regardless of their economic means and enable them to live a life of meaning and purpose (Teaching Talent). The shift in educational practice has been a result of a greater understanding of what actually impacts students achievement. The 1960 s to present day has seen a significant shift in the idea that student achievement is solely dependent on the social background of the student to the current view that schools via teachers and leadership can have a significant effect on student achievement. The teacher has the greatest impact on student learning but a teacher does not exist in isolation. The principal plays a significant role in providing high impact policies and practices which support teachers and therefore indirectly has an impact on student achievement. Research ... In the old times, and still now in some areas, children worked with their parents and reamed a lot of things from them; later, children looked after aged parents, and therefore much value was put on children, and there was strong bond of affection between parents and child. However, now it has changed. Parents go to work, and children do not go to work with them. Children only cost much money for food and education. The one thing that seems to have impacted the development of the country has been the issue of disease and the mortality rate of woman and children. One thing that could be done to greatly reduce these issues would be to invest more in the sanitation of the available water resources. Throughout the duration of the text, Larson constantly switches back and forth from the separate, yet intertwined stories of Burnham and Holmes. It is characterized by growth of numerous cysts on the kidneys (McPhee, Papadakis Rabow, 2014). The kidneys primary job is to filter the waste products from the blood into urine and ultimately out of the body. The cysts are primarily fluid filled and when they become enlarged, they interfere the normal functioning of the kidneys, leading to enlarged kidney (McPhee et al., 2014). When the enlarged kidney stops properly functioning leading kidney failure. It may take years before the kidneys totally loose function and then require dialysis, which is in only about half of the patients diagnosed with PKD. According to National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearing House (NKUDIC) (2007), mutations in genes PKD1, PKD2 and PKHD1 cause polycystic kidney disease. Defects in the formation of epithelial cells and their cilium result in cyst formation and obstruction that is followed by destruction of renal parenchyma, interstitial fibrosis, and loss of functional nephrons (McCance, Heuther, Brasher, 2014). The renal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular organs are the most common systems affected by PKD (McPhee et al., 2014). There are two major inherited forms of PKD.
