Long Term Injury
Most individuals experience one or more of these injuries throughout life according to medical and
fitness experts. There are long term consequences each condition can create if the injury is not
allowed to heal properly. As both adults and children participate in repetitive activities daily and
from time to time damages to muscle, boneor tendons occur. It may be as simple as a strain to the
muscle or tendon as a result of overusing or pushing past a certain limit of ability. The good news
is most of these injuries have high recovery rates with only a few needing surgery. Like all
injuries it s always a good recommendation to seek a medical health worker for accurate advice on
treatment and care.
The difference between these three forms of injury:
Strain
Strains affect the muscles, typically caused from pulling the muscle or tendon. When it happens,
you can actually feel the tension. There are several causes, one of course is repetitive movement,
but a lack of resting between workouts is a critical culprit, especially when the movement is
excessive. Muscles and tendons are fibrous allowing them to be torn or ruptured with serious
consequences such as the loss of muscle function or long term therapy for recovery.

Description Of The Play In Othello
Othello: A 17th century soap
The play Othello was written by William Shakespeare and first performed in 1604. It tells the
story of a group of people who are entangled in a complex web of relationships and try to work
out the dynamics of their tiny society. This brings forth a load of drama that plays directly into
hands of the villain of the story: Iago. He carries a huge grudge against the main character: Othello.
The storyline in this play is so dramatic and complicated it can be compared to a television soap
nowadays. The main characteristic of a soap is: an emphasis on family life, personal relationships,
sexual dramas, emotional and moral conflict. In my opinion the setting of the play, the relationships
within and Iago s role contribute to making Othello 17th century television soap.
First of all, the setting of Othello greatly contributes to the dramatic storyline. In a modern soap,
the circumstances force the characters to face each other. For example, the characters usually form
an intimate group, like a family or close group of friends. In real life they would have ... Show more

The director s job description includes producing, enhancing and realizing ideas and taking care
the finished product is in line with the original ideas. In Othello, Iago hates Othello but it is not
exactly clear what the reason is. It is mentioned that Othello promoted Cassio instead of Iago to
lieutenant but does not legitimate Iago s aversion in my opinion. It seems this hate is mostly
used to give Iago a motive to come up with a revenge plot and thereby create an interesting story.
All characters are influenced either directly or indirectly by Iago and this way all events are
orchestrated by the Moor Slayer . This becomes visible in the many soliloquies Iago has in the
play. A good example takes place in the third scene of the first

Summary Of Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ralph Waldo Emerson was a central figure in the social movement of transcendentalism around the
mid 1800s. Transcendentalism is the idea of individualism and the belief that people should trust
themselves to be their own authority and not confine themselves to the conformity of society.
Throughout his works, Emerson uses ideas such as, individualism, conformity, nonconformity, and
persuasive ideas to express his beliefs. During the 1800s to speak out against traditional thought
was a rare and disdained action, but it didn t avert Emerson from elaborating his positions on
individual matters. He wrote many famous texts that are still relevant today, but in his work Self
Reliance , Ralph Waldo Emersonuses powerful language to produce a candid tone that persuades
the reader to flout conformity within our society; in hopes of empowering people to become more
outspoken and not sit in the shadows of social expectations.
One of Emerson s greatest tools is his use of passionate language throughout his work. His
passionate use of language and emotional appeal to illustrate his beliefs about conformity.
When he states, Else, to morrow a stranger will say with masterly good sense precisely what we
have thought and felt all the time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion
from another. (Emerson 2), he is referring to the audience s emotions when missing out on the
opportunity to speak. Instead, another person takes the credit for the same idea. Throughout life
people hold their tongues when new ideas appear due to the fear of it not being accepted or it
being negatively judged. This fear fills many, but the person who has the courage to speak his
mind will have self reliance, and the ones who were quiet will rue the missed opportunity. In the
early pages of Emerson s Self Reliance , he refers to inner trust and will power when he states, To
believe in your own thought, to believe that what is true in your private heart is true for all men
this is genius. (Emerson 1). Emerson illustrates that there is nothing more essential to life than one
s self confidence and trust, for anything is possible due to will power and determination. Emerson s
tone through the early paragraphs of his text is very

Post Ww2 Aircraft Manufacturing Problems
Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II Jason Weber Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II I. Summary The American
aviation industry was in an uncertain era post World War II (WW2). Aircraft manufacturers were
suffering large loses as the demand for planes dropped sharply and the market was flooded. This
created more supply than demand. Manufactures expected government sales to decline and braced
for it. They hinged their hopes on the need for commercial aviation transportation which never
came to fruition (Bright, 1978). The resurgence for the industry came in the form of the jet engine.
The Navy, being conservative and resistant to change, did not see the need for... Show more content

IV. Development of Alternative Actions Alternative Action 1. Use of large hydraulic presses to
form or extrude aircraft parts. Advantages. The U.S. had built huge presses that could exert up to
50,000 tons of force that could serially create one large piece that previously would have been
made up of thousands of pieces (Converse, 2012). For example, 4 one piece wing spars fabricated
for the F 102 by one of these machines replaced almost 3,500 parts (including 3,200 rivets) that had
been needed when traditional construction techniques were used (Bright, 1978). Disadvantages.
Presses were not numerous and supply could not meet demand. By the end of the 1950 s the Air
Force operated only nine due to funding cuts (Nalty, 1997). The forging process inherently produces
parts with less tolerance than what was required at the time. Alternative Action 2. Use of
numerically controlled machine tools for aircraft parts. Advantages. The numerically controlled
machines could achieve more precise tolerances and speed the aerospace industry required with
repeatability (rearm). Disadvantages. Numerically controlled machines was an emerging
technology. The research and development costs were extremely high, and the control systems are
very costly (Rajput, 2007). V. Recommendation. The rapid technological advances in aircraft at the
time did not allow for one stand alone

Primo Levi
The Reawakening, by Primo Levi, is a sequel to his first novel, Survival in Auschwitz. It is a
deeply powerful memoir of his liberation from the most brutal concentration camps of them all,
Auschwitz. Published in 1946, the story of Primo Levi s pursuit for freedom has inspired many
people around the world. Levi s quest back home to Italy was a grueling mission, from ruthless acts
of the Nazi regime, the traumatic effects of imprisonment in Auschwitz and the near death
experience of hunger and illness. The Holocaustbrought a cloud of darkness filled with pain and
despair. Very few victims of the Holocaust survived and those who did found it extremely hard to

The survivors were so used to living and sleeping with corpses that they too felt that their own soul
was no longer with them. It was very difficult for Jews to recuperate from the racial purification
attempts of the Holocaust, but those who showed hope and perseverance through theses
grueling times were able to regain their life and self worth. Throughout Levi s reawakening, he
met very extraordinary people, many of whom are survivors of the Holocaust just like him.
These people can be seen as a symbol in Levi s reawakening helping him establish new life after
liberation. Jews are deeply hated amongst the European nation and Levi encounters three
authority figures they guide him with rules that he must abide in order to escape detestation.
During a walk along the churches of Cracow, Levi came across the first authority figure, a priest.
They carried the most extravagant and chaotic conversation in Latin. (Levi, 50) At the end of
their encounter the priest advises Levi not to speak German in public. The second authority
figure that Levi encountered was a lawyer traveling through Treblinka. He was a Polish man but
he could speak German as well. Like the priest, he also advised Levi not to speak German in
public. A police officer, the third figure of authority in Levi s reawakening, showed compassion
towards Levi and offered him a night in warmth, in jail.

How Early Islamic Caliphates
The first three caliphates to rule after the death of Muhammad shaped the foundation for the growth
and development of the early Islamic community. The goal of the caliphates was to unify the
Islamic people and spread the word of Islam as far as they could. Although their main goal was the
same, the Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid caliphate went about this
goal in separate ways. The different techniques used by each caliphate was dependent on the
individual caliphs. The treatment of groups of peoples inside the empires also differed between the
caliphates. The Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid Caliphate each
employed styles of rule unique to their empires.
The Rashidun Caliphate was the first of the Islamic caliphates established after Muhammad s death.
After his death, the early Islamic community was almost torn apart due to a crisis of control. The
Rashidun caliphate had the important job of keeping the community together and growing without
the Prophet. Because of the Arab Islamic conquests, the Muslims gained large amounts of territory;
however, the Arab Muslim leaders did not have the experience that was needed to rule an empire.
In The Rise of Islam, Matthew Gordon writes, a fundamental challenge for the caliphs, their
governors, and the Arab military elite was to understand how large scale agrarian economies
functioned (28). In order to rule an empire, the authority of the Rashidun caliphs had to be
legitimized.

Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson Essay
Speak is a cleaver and an ironic title for a story in which the main character chooses not to speak.
The story is written in first person narration from the point of view of protagonist, Melinda
Sordino. Speak is written like an interior monologue in the mind of an introverted teenage girl,
like excerpts from her personal diary during her miserable freshman year of high school. Instead
of blending in and finding her way through high school. She withdraws and secludes herself from
the other students. She calls herself an outcast. Melinda is so desperate to hide from the world;
she turns an old janitor s closet at the high school into her safe haven. She cuts classes to hide in
her closet. How lonely could this teenage girl be? All... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And there is a clique of girls at the school who refer to their group as the Marathas, that is the
Martha Stewart wannabes. There doesn t seem to be a place where Melinda fits in. Where does
a girl who has been sexually assaulted fit in? Melinda isn t speaking to anyone, and no one will
talk to her, except the new girl, Heather, who moved from the state of Ohio. Realistically,
Heather being the new girl just wants to make friends. Heather doesn t know what is really
going on with Melinda because she just moved to town. Heather has no idea what happened the
night when Melinda called the police, which busted a summer party. In fact, no one knows,
except for Melinda, what happened to her at the party? She is convinced that because she is a
victim, no one understands her. The whole world, including her world, is out to get her and so it
is best for her to remain silent. Ironically, the person Melinda finds as the outlet to help her
express her feelings is her art teacher, Mr. Freeman. In a class assignment, Melinda is assigned
to create an art project based on a tree. She begins to express her inner angst through this art
project. At one point, she uses dried bones to sculpt a picture of a skeleton. Then she glues
broken knives and forks to the project so that the bones look like the plastic utensils are stabbing
them. It is a grim depiction of how Melinda feels, and is immediately praised by Mr. Freeman.

Writing Styles Of My Writing Style
Sometimes when I look at the writing styles of my peers, be it on social media, emails I can
sense a distinction between the different writing styles that are used. When I m writing whether it
be in an email, text or a lab report I try my best to write everything more formally and longhand,
which a lot of people tend to overlook in today s society.
The last thing I wrote was a letter that I had sent to my significant other through the mail. The
nuances of writing seem to be disappearing from today s society, the finer intricacies of the
English language will be lost in a generation or two, and cursive language is no longer being
taught in schools, with all the abbreviations being used a lot of writing feels less personal and more
mechanical.

Homelessness Of Philadelphia And Pennsylvania
Homelessness Effecting Pennsylvania
In Philadelphia, homelessness is all around. On every street in the city, there will most likely be
a homeless person asking for money or sleeping on the ground owning little to nothing.
Homelessness is not only a major problem in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania but entirely the
United States. There are so many people living on the streets, in abandoned houses, and even
cars. The majority of homeless people are veterans, drug addicts, unemployed people, people
who have a mental illness and teenagers who have ran away. The best solution to getting people
off the streets and able to work, make money and living in a house or apartment that they can
afford is for the state to give more money to homeless shelters and organizations. If the state of
Pennsylvania gave more money to homeless shelters, the shelters would be able to open up their
doors to more homeless people and help them get back on track. The shelters would also be able
to build more shelters so they can eventually get all of homeless people off the streets. They would
be able to hire more people to help out with their mission and teach the homeless way in a crash
course of getting their life together. For the drug addicts, there would be rehab offered to the
homeless and it would then eliminate not only homelessness in itself but also drugs on the streets.
With such astonishing numbers, homelessness has increased within the last few years like never
before. There are more homeless

Misconceptions Of Professional Wrestling
Professional wrestling s most mysterious hold is on its audience, Luke Neely. Professional
wrestling has been captivating audiences since the 1860 s but what is professional wrestling and

exaggerated combat. It began in carnivals, shortly after the civil war, and gained widespread
popularity in the 1980 s thanks to the reappearance of World Wrestling Federation, WWF, on
network television. Although viewed as a barbaric, uneducated group of individuals, professional
wrestling fans are a group with many forms of communications through their own slang terms, live

The creation of these terms was established to not only describe the wrestlers, but also the fans
and the overall show. Most of these terms are used more widely when discussing national
promotions, like WWE and Total National Action (TNA), then independent promotions or the
indies, like the World Wrestling Alliance (WWA) an indy company based out of Central City,
Kentucky. There are basically two types of wrestlers: superstars, who are the malecompetitors, and
divas, who are the female competitors. The superstars and divas can be either heel, a bad guy, or
face, a good guy. When the wrestler switches from face to heel it is called a heel turn likewise
when they switch from heel to face it is a face turn. The superstar and diva also portray a certain
character or gimmick when they wrestler, that may continue for a short or long time
considering how the fans react to it. When referring to the wrestler s status level, there are three
overall types: the jobber, who is usually a newer, unknown wrestler whose main job is to lose to
the better known wrestlers. The jobber may also be considered too green or inexperienced and
prone to make more mistakes. Then there are the midcarders who wrestle more in the middle of
the event and are seen as being a top wrestler but not a big money drawer. The highest status a
wrestler can achieve is to be considered a main eventer. A main eventer is seen as the best of the
company and one of the top money drawers on the roster and usually get to compete at the end
of the show also known as the main event. The individuals who accompany the wrestler to the
ring but do not actually complete are referred to as the wrestlers manager or valet. A manager is
usually a male who accompanies the wrestler while a valet is usually a female. The main goal of a
manager or valet is to put over or hype up

Creativity Is Not An Oxymoron
Introduction
In an ever diversifying global market, creativity has become imperative in empowering innovation
within the market. The demand for creativity has increased, especially in the business market
sphere and a need for managing creativity is evident. However, the coming together of management
and creativity is believed to be incompatible , and mutually destructive by parties from both arts and
management backgrounds (Howkins, 2002, p. 120). If management where a square, creativity
would be a circle, and the two are not complementary shapes, thus many would argue managing
creativity to be oxymoronic. Because of the different characteristics and methods of creativity and
management, this statement seems true surface level. Creativity is an ambiguous term that is
subjective and difficult to measure in a definite form and makes it difficult to manage in one
specific way. So how can a manager maximize the creativity of an individual and how can one
manage creativity most effectively and collectively?
This paper will focus on the idea that managing creativity is not an oxymoron if the right
approaches are implemented. Creativity is necessary for new innovation to happen, but a business
s foremost focus is on growth and profit (Howkins, 2002). Managing creativity is the first step to
cultivating new forms of innovation. For this to happen most successfully acknowledging
characteristics consistent to creative individuals and applying a specific manager or leader who can

Swot Analysis For General Motors
Analysis
The SWOT analysis highlighted the following as the main drivers of change for General Motors
1.2.1.Internal Drivers
The high salaries and wages for employees and the large number of workforce prompted GM to
change its cost structure to make it more labor cost competitive. Toyota was paying its employees
$44 for an hour while GM was paying its workers $74 per hour. Workers were also let go and a lot
of unprofitable brands were shut down due to the high cost factor. The rigid linear structure also
made innovation, flexibility and motivation very difficult so the organization s structure, leadership
and culture was changed to accommodate that.

Launching the movement
Previously establishing cultural change in GM had been like forcing to impose something on an
extremely bureaucratic organization. The cultural changes were top down. Each division competed
amongst themselves. There were times when the senior management resisted change and there
were times when the workforce was against it. This time around however, cultural change was
easier and swifter due to the near death experience of bankruptcy (Smerd, 2009). Employees and
management alike collaborated because they knew that things could not operate like they did
formerly. The cultural change was also focused on the base, middle and senior levels instead of
simply establishing a top down cultural change approach. According to CEO Fritz Henderson, this
time around, GM made cultural changes at speeds not ever seen before (Smerd, 2009). All layers
of bureaucracy was removed and replaced with a single 8 person committee which led to more
focus, effectiveness and efficiency. The new culture also implemented an open door policy to bring
transparency into the organization and made use of focus groups to gain more knowledge about their

Egger s Corruption In Zeitoun
By reading the recent news stories of Zeitoun and his ex wife Kathy, my perception of him was
extremely skewed as I read Zeitoun. Rather than viewing him as the heroic and invincible man that
he was, I found myself constantly looking forward to the abusive man he is, ignoring the
courageous acts he had accomplished. He originally comes off as a fearless, valiant man in the
novel Zeitoun, but now he is a criminal. This alteration was provoked. The current actions of
Zeitoun enhance Eggers purpose and prove to be a primary consequence of the corruption he had
experienced. David Eggers wrote the novel, Zeitoun to dismantle the strong façade of the United

Rather than escaping disaster and fleeing New Orleans, he decided to sacrifice his safety and
guard his city. Zeitoun felt as if he had been called to stay, that God knew he would be of service
if he remained. His choice to stay in the city had been God s will (Eggers110). Excerpts such as
this one illustrate Zeitoun as an extremely religious and valiant man. He put others before himself
and took responsibilities into his own hands. However, when Zeitoun was placed in Camp
Greyhound, his valiant character slowly began to fade. Due to mistreatment, Zeitoun, the valiant
hero, began to waste away; he knew the conditions had begun to take a very real toll on his
psyche. He had been angry until now, but he had been thinking clearly. Now the connections were

Zeitoun s diminishing mental stability when he was placed in a maximum security unit at Hunt s

Zeitoun s actions after he was released, he appeared to be okay, despite his desire to work himself
for hours more than usual. The only noticeable mental issues that were a result of his mistreatment
were displayed within Kathy s character. Eggers included that Kathy s test results pointed to

required over 4,600,000 cubic feet of stone blocks set in place without cement, but held together
by 300 tons of iron clamps. The Coliseum was engineered to seat up to 50,000 spectators and was
mainly used for gladiator games and other public entertainment, such as animal battles, there was
also believed to be some sea battles, religious plays, and execution.
Circus Maximus: It was the first and the largest stadium for public games built in the entire
Roman era, and be that inspired many more like it. At over 2,000 feet long and nearly 400 feet
wide, it easily fit 150,000 spectators. known for its murderous ... Show more content on

20th Century War and Peace Essay example
The three main theories used in international political economy are constructivism, realism and
liberalism. Scholars commonly use the theories to explain economical events in the international
political economy. Liberalists are concerned about interest of individual while constructivists are
much concerned about how international relationsare constructed by ideas in the system. This paper
uses realism theory to explain relationships among state and non state actors in the international
system. Realism is based on the idea that the international system exists according to the Hobbestian
state of nature, which is anarchic and brutal. There is no authority above states in the system

In this regard, the organization ensures that the interests of all states are catered for. Managers are
answerable to states whereby they are called to explain inconsistencies during hard economic times.
In the realists perspective, the organization is the property of the rich nations, which is used to
enforce compliance. The headquarters of the organization is in the United States meaning that
everything is operated from there. States are usually forced to come into terms with unfavorable
policies in order to be members. The Chinese case would serve as an example. China was
requested to adopt some policies that would favor the West in order to be incorporated in the
system. Less developed countries do not actually benefit from the organization. The organization
allows US manufacturers to exploit markets in the third world but not vice versa. The third world
is incorporated in the system as underdogs meaning that they assist the rich nations in producing
goods. This is why the gap between the rich and the poor is widening day after another. The
organization ensures that the poor states do not pursue interests that seem to contradict with those
of the US. The organization is quick to slap economic sanctions to states that do not conform to
the set rules. In the late 1980s to early 1990s, Libya was barred from exporting fuel to Europe, US

Edward Deming s Improving The Quality Of Service Quality

Cheating Is Not A New Conversation
Cheating is not a new conversation when it comes to sports. There are several forms of cheating
such as shaving points, using performance enhancement drugs, or sports betting. The formal
definition of cheating is to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a
game or examination, (Merriam Webster dictionary). When it comes to collegesports, it is easy for
a player to be persuaded to shave a few points for money. A typical question asked about sports is
what happens if a team or player is caught cheating? Cheating is widespread it just depends on if
the team or player gets caught. Recent examples of the cheating culture in sport includes Bill
Belichick, coach of the New England Patriots, directing his staff to videotape the defensive
signals of the New York Jets and athletes in 10 sports at Florida State University cheating on their
academic work, (Lumpkin, 2011, p. 2). With cheating being so widespread, the real reason to play
sports seems to be lost in all the chaos of winning.
Cheating in sports is such an intriguing topic. Personally, this topic is interesting to me because
sports are a part of my life and whenever someone cheats just to win, I always wonder why they
would do such a thing. I understand that cheating happens in every level of sport. But what if
everyone is cheating? These questions are the reasons this topic is important to me. In addition,
how will we remember these athletes if they are labeled cheaters for the rest of

Argumentative Essay On Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence is a topic within the public media that has existed for decades, but is now
a concern due to the reality of human advancement and innovation in the field of science and
technology. Many people believe that computers will become self aware or sentient and view
humanity as a disposable resource and gain supremacy. Reasoning that research on the
technology should halt and not become more advance. Whereas others believe they will help
catapult research and the economy forward, supporting the operations and innovations the
technology offers. The complicated and divided solutions to the debate aren t obvious, but there
are more benefits to improving artificial intelligence than there is stopping it. Therefore, the
negative effects people believe will occur can be resolved. There are different types of artificial
intelligence that many institutes and companies believe in. However, they all share the same
belief of a self aware, conscious, human like, computer system, the type of AI people fear.
Disregarding that an AI is a computer much like a phone or laptop, one must consider that if
something is sentient like a person or animal, should they be treated like one? And if not, is it
discrimination or racism when it is treated like an item? Slavery treated people based on race or
social status differently, the bottom being slaves. Some might argue that machines don t have a

Ocean Stratification
The earth, as we know, is and always has been changing. Although we may not be able to feel or
even see such gradual changes, we must try to aid our planet s longevity for future generations. A
major problem that we face is the deterioration of Earth s atmosphere and climate change. Some
believe that the problem could be fixed through geoengineering. Scientists and engineers have
proposed many potential solutions with geoengineering, one being ocean fertilization. This idea
suggests filling regions of the ocean with ironand other various nutrients where little biological
production exists. This would increase phytoplankton activity that would take the carbon down
deeper into the ocean. Ultimately, this could get rid of excess carbon when the phytoplankton die
and fall to the ocean floor. Ocean fertilization, although it may have a few negative effects, could
lower the amount of carbon dioxidein the atmosphere, thus slowing down Earth s natural heating
process. Iron is one of the most important nutrients that are necessary for phytoplankton. This
nutrientcan be found short in supply where stratification has occurred in ocean waters.... Show more

Therefore, ocean fertilization seems to be one of the only options us geo engineers have left to try
to stop, or even just slow down human harm on the climate. If a large group of people could come
together behind ocean fertilization, the effort could remove over thousands of tons of carbon
dioxide from our atmosphere. Although there are many experts who believe that this system would
actually cause more damage and add more carbon than the amount it removes, the chances are very
slim. The pros of ocean fertilization heavily outweigh the cons in the situation. The chance that this
system might improve our climate and the overall health of the ocean drastically is a good enough
reason to give it a

The Great Law Of Motion Of History Essay
The struggle inherent in putting forward what is hailed as the great law of motion of history (The
18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte 14) rests in ensuring that one s purported application of that law
is consistent with its abstract detailing. For example, in Karl Marx s theoretical works and
historical writing specifically The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte the philosopher and
revolutionary consistently describes the conditions under which men must operate for them to have
a chance at restructuring their society and achieving emancipation. Marx illustrates across theory
and practice how mankind, though limited in its autonomy by the existing societal order, has an
opportunity to emancipate itself from the legal and political superstructure constructed
independently of its will when sufficiently focused, energized and united. Hence how Marx pays
enough heed to a particular, the ascent of Louis Napoleon, such that he can present it as reflective
of a greater universal principle: historical materialism. After all, we [must] not judge of such a
period of transformation by its own consciousness...this consciousness must be explained rather
from the existing conflict between the social productive forces and the relations of production.
(Marx on the History of His Opinions 5). Marx set out to detail, display and prove a universal law.
Insofar as his consideration of emancipation and the conditions necessary for it constitute that law,
he got at least two thirds of the

Three fifths of the United States have made cuts to their music programs. Studies have shown that
schools with good music education programs help students perform better on standardized tests.
Many famous businessmen and woman also attribute their success to their musical background.
Therefore schools should have strong musiceducationprograms so their students develop necessary
skills for their careers, communicate better with others, and score higher on tests.
First things first, the study of music develops necessary skills in the future of children s careers.
Many celebrities and accomplished entrepreneurs have stated that their music education has

In the opinion of many it takes away from valuable time in other subjects. This is incorrect. When
children gain music education they are able to become proficient in their classes. So the time out of

creative thinking, and collaboration also come with music. There are many benefits to instructing
children in music, so cutting the program would damage learning.
All things considered, it doesn t make sense why states would cut the music programs of their
schools. When students receive education they continue to grow and progress academically; in a
like manner it is the same with music education. They are also being prepared to live in the real
world by learning how to work at something until it s perfect and think of new solutions to

The Igbo homeland is located in Nigeria, Africa. The Igbo people are considered one of the

The white missionaries bring a different set of beliefs and laws which are incompatible with Igbo
traditions and practices. The church which is built by the Christians, contributes to the
destruction of the clan. Many Umuofians decide to convert to Christianity, as they feel they will
get more freedom, comfort and they can be and do what the clan does not agree to. Three
converts had gone into the village and boasted openly that all the gods were dead and impotent
and that they were prepared to defy them by burning all their shrines (Achebe 116). This shows
that the converts and the missionaries no longer respect the views and beliefs of the Igbo clan. The
converts know that they are protected by the white men and the feel that they have a greater god
than the Igbo people.
To conclude, the missionaries from Europe have definitely had an impact on the Igbo people.
Many Igbo people today claim to be Christian. The Igbo people have a religion similar to the
Christian religion in that they believe in one main God. The Igbo people believe that that good
has minor deities to help on earth. These deities are Ala, Amadioha, Ikenga, and Ekwensu. With

Analysis Of The Poem Taps Upon The Grass
Taps upon the grass. We moved to Prairie Grove, May of 2007 from Fort Smith, Arkansas. It was
a beautiful day and even though the drive with a newborn and a traitor full of our belongings
was intense. The scenery was absolutely memorizing, little did we know or realize how many
wonderful things there were about this little town to explore. We had lived in Prairie Grove for
a few years before we started attending local events. It was a Friday afternoon and I was heading
to the school to pick up my oldest son Elliott from band practice and I noticed a lot of people
setting up tents and walking around in old settler clothes. Men in blue and gray suits, some
were riding horses. Women in petticoats and big bulky dresses. All walking around the
Battlefield Park like this was something normal that went on everyday. I m thinking, Ok, this
town is kind of weird. Soon I started to learn the history of the town we moved to, and all the
intricate details surrounding the town of Prairie Grove. Come to find out, Part of the Civil War
battle was fought on the Prairie Grove Battlefield on December 7, 1862. The Confederate Army
under Major General Thomas C Hindman engaged the Union Divisions of Brigadier General
Francis J. Herron and James G. Blunt near Prairie Grove Church. They were suppose to attack

Drunk Driving And Driving
Throughout the United States, drunk driving is responsible for 28 deaths per day and nearly
10,000 deaths per year. In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication
limit from 0.08 BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock
devices into cars to prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the
wheel. Combining these two aspects to clamp down on drunk drivingwould be considered strict
enforcement of laws. There are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of
the ignition interlock systems. However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against
these topics. Lowering the legal intoxication limit and increasing the use of ignition interlock
systems will create a safer environment for society by saving lives, reducing crime, and increasing
overall traffic safety.
Most consumers of alcohol are unaware to the effects of driving after ingesting alcohol into their
systems. Driving impaired is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Thats
due to the driver being impaired. To be considered an ВЁimpaired driverВЁ, a person must have a

protagonist in The Yellow Wallpaper wants to take another room but John would not hear of it

Both women in the stories suffer from an illness, both physical and mental, an extent in both
stories. Though there is emotional detachment, there is still some form of love, though it may have

to spousal abuse. Though their husbands were taking action for their illnesses it seems that the
husbands only thought of their wives by their illnesses, not as a person having one. This caused a

The Federal Bureau Of Investigation
After the terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, the United States government, specifically the
Federal Bureau of Investigation was in a dispute with the technology company Apple. The FBI
seized the iPhone of Syed Farook who along with his wife Tasfeen Malik killed 14 people and
injured 22. Farook and his wife were then killed in a shootout with the police. However, the FBI
could not bypass the security code that Farook placed on his phone, and access information
within the device. Therefore, the bureau requested that Apple create a backdoor which is a
mean of access to a computer program that bypasses the programs security measures. Apple
refused to comply with the bureau s request as the company argued that it would jeopardize the
privacy of their customers and is an overreach of state power. Thus, the conflict was going to be
decided legally, until the FBI canceled the first court hearing with Apple. The FBI was able to
unlock Farook s phone without Apple s help through a third party company. But the government s
actions set in place a dangerous precedent. By creating a back door, the government is able to
access information on any Apple device and has weakened the company s cyber security. To

acceptable by hockey fans to a certain extent. When a player swings his stick at another player
and an injury occurs to the opposing man the instigator can usually expect to be penalized for a
short amount of time, maybe even a suspension from the team for a few games. But when does
this violent act on the ice become a criminal offence? Does it take for the recipient to break his
neck, or maybe even loose his vision for us to take a serious look at what happened and realize
that this is not what we are looking to watch when we sit down to watch a game.... Show more

The fact of the matter is the player intended on injuring his opponent when he shouldn t because
that is not in the job description. They need to hammer this into the athletes heads, even if you are
doing it to protect another teammate, retaliation cannot be stood for no matter what. When you
step on the rink you should only have one thing on your mind and that is to win. There is no
reason for anyone in any professional sport to go onto the playing surface with intention to injure
someone else out there. They do not get paid to hurt people they get paid to play the game just like
teachers get paid to teach. When the players drop the gloves they do that knowing they are
subjected to injury, however that is a part of the game that is against the rules and could result in
an injury but both players are aware of what is going on. A sucker punch or a stick over the head
only has one of the players aware of what is happening and leaves the other one subjected to major
injuries.
Stick swinging seems to be one of the favoured В‘cheap shots in the hockey. There are many
reoccurring happenings of this offence and it needs to be stopped. It happens more then we hear
about because we only hear about the major ones where the receiving player obtains a mild injury.
The normal penalty for stick swinging is a minor suspension but no legal action is taking place for
these minor offences. In order to cut down on these things need to be done.

Forensic Evidence Paper
Forensic evidence is tangible evidence that is obtained from the crime scene and examined by
utilizing various scientific procedures to assist examiners in cracking a case. This Forensic
evidence is obtained at the scene of a crime and transported to a laboratory, where it is handled by
specialists. Three types of forensic and physical evidence are fingerprints, digital evidence and
impressions.
When it comes to fingerprints, no two individuals are the same. This is just one of the many
reasons to as why fingerprints are so important when it comes to evidence. In addition, fingerprints
are used to assist in capturing the individual, who was at the crime scene when the crime was
perpetrated. Fingerprints are found on surfaces due to the friction ridges that are on each one of
our hands (Nolo, 2015). Sweat, body oils, and dirt are just a few of the things that ... Show more

Fingerprints are found on surfaces due to the friction ridges that are on each one of our hands.
Sweat, body oils, and dirt are just a few of the things that these friction ridges hold on to which in

Fingerprints are used to assist in capturing the individual, who was at the crime scene when the
crime was perpetrated. In the same way as fingerprints, impressions are just as vital within a
court case. Impression evidence is critical to a case because they could confirm that a
perpetrator was at the location where the crime took place. Furthermore, tire marks are also vital
to any case because they can assist in recognizing the model of vehicle that was at the crime
location. Furthermore, digital evidence is data gathered or sent in binary form that may be
depended on in a court proceeding. Digital evidence is latent, quick, as well as accessible, easily

Napoleon Bonaparte Hero
In the late 1760s, a heroic figure was born. On August fifteenth in the year of 1769, a male baby
was then a face upon this earth. Of course, this male was not heroic in his toddler years, but as he
grew, he conquered many goals of his. This male baby came to be known as one of the greatest
military leaders to be known; this baby was none other than the great Napoleon Bonaparte.
Because he was born in this time period, it was almost meant for him to be revolutional. There
were many occurrences taking place in France. The Seven Years War was going on. It was finally
ended in 1763. This took place with France; this is a reason it was also called the French and Indian
War. It began in 1756 and did not end til 1763. Also, in 1768 a year before... Show more content on

Therefore, his people listened to him. He took his military and defeated many of France s
enemies. After gaining victories, Bonaparte s figure as first consul was sure to remain in his
hands ( Napoleon Biography ). Although it seems as Bonaparte only battles, he does not. Yes,
he has been raised like this since he was young. However, he wants stability, peace, and to help
everywhere. He began with organizations like banks, education, science, art, and even relations.
Napoleon, even as a cruel general, wanted to support and help his community and people before
him. As a leader to his military, he wanted to be a leader to his people. By helping his people, he
helped better himself in many areas. Out of the many of his achievements for his people was the
Napoleonic Code. This code was very influential to 19th century codes ( Napoleonic Code ).
Later, he became emperor in 1804. This is another achievement of Bonaparte to show his
strengths. Since the Napoleonic Code was very influential, this also shows how influencing of a
leader he is; it shows how people look up to him and see how he is important to their

Jigsaw Vs 3 Movies
In the past 10 years, it seems that every film coming out in the summer is a new film to start a
franchise, or yet another sequel in a franchise universe. Hell, there are films in low budget horror
franchises that are going on their 3rd films. I don t even want to mention there s yet another Saw
film called Jigsaw that is due to be released pretty soon.
Just as I predicted the downfall of 3D films in 2015, I predict that the major success of franchise
films will eventually wither away for a good while. Why? A good thing can only last so long before
people get tired of it. Do you love pizza? Of course you do. Would you love to work at a pizza
place where you get to eat pizza all the time? Hell yeah you would. But after a few months you ...

That is a terrible start for a cinematic universe with the help of Tom Cruise.
What movies we did get this year were some fantastic original films. Baby Driver, Dunkirk, The
Big Sick, and Wind River. All of these films made a lot of money each, and they all got
phenomenal reviews. Why? Because people didn t know what to expect. You can go into a Marvel
film and be wowed by the visuals, but you know they re all paint by numbers with different paint
brushes.
Not only are those original films crushing it at the box office, an increasingly growing movement
of horror films are cleaning up at the box office. Like IT, small budget horror films can bring in
the crowds with little money. The movie The Conjuring made $318 million on a budget of $20
million (I get that it has become a franchise, but they re still low budget and earn major bucks).
The movie Annabelle made $256.9 million on a budget of $6.5 million. I couldn t tell you one
person who stars, wrote, or directed any of those movies. There are a dozen more examples, but
you get my point.
What further makes these franchise films start to get weighed down with costs are the actors.
No one really cares about A list actors anymore in films. I don t go see a superhero film because of
a certain actor is in it, no, I go and see it because of the action and comic book story. Have you
heard about any films beyond Iron Man that Robert Downey Jr. did that did well in theaters

The experiment could be changed to have a more accurate answer if more frequencies were tested.
This would give a wider range of frequencies to make absolutely sure that every frequency as it gets
lower the wavelength gets longer. This experiment answered my primary question with specific and
meaningful data. The scientific principles that can be learned from this experiment is that as
frequency goes lower the wavelength gets longer. Another scientific fact that can be learned from
doing this experiment is that sound waves are caused by vibrations moving through substances in
this experiment that substance was water. Another scientific fact that can be learned is that sound
moves through water very well. What other substances can sound move through well? Conclusion
The data supports the hypothesis If the frequency of a sound increases, then the wavelengths of a
sound will decrease, because the wavelength is the speed of sound divided by the frequency. The
experiment supported the hypothesis because the experiment showed that the relationship between
wavelengths and frequencies is as hypothesized. In all cases, as frequency increased the
wavelength decreased. When the speed of sound is divided by the frequency the calculated
wavelength was not equal to the measured wavelength. This difference is because standing waves
were used for measurements and standing waves do not have the same constant as the

Is The Bible Reliable
In this day and age, teens have many questions regarding the Bible and its authenticity. There are
many sources where good and bad information can be absorbed and can shake their beliefs. The
news, media and Internet have things that may cause people to question their beliefs in God and
trust in the Bible.
Some questions that teens may be having trouble with the Bible are: Where did it come from?
Can it be trusted? This article will answer all those questions and set you on the correct path. I will
talk about what the Bible is, who wrote it, when were the books of the bible written, what languages
are used and the most important question, is it reliable.
WHAT IS THE BIBLE?
The word Bible comes from the words bГblia in Latin and bГblos in Greek. The Latin meaning
translates to books. Biblica.com says The Bible is the account of God s action in the world, and his
purpose with all creation. (Biblica.com, 2013) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It contains 66 books containing messages from God to us. The books were originally written on
papyrus until the invention of the codex, a manuscript formatted like a book. The Bible is the
inspired Word of God as said in 2 Peter 1:21.
There are two main sections of the Bible. They are the Old Testament and the New Testament. The
Bible is then divided into six minor sections: the law, history, poetry, prophecy, biographies and
epistles. The Christian religion is based on the Bible and its teachings and shows how to apply God

Women s Reproductive Rights Research Paper

dealt a devastating blow. It is our moral and ethical duty to fight regain these rights back for
some of the most disadvantaged and powerless women in the world. Women should be able to
have a choice about what happens to their own bodies, and be the masters of their own destiny.
This policy is an assault on women s health and we need to stand up and fight for the repeal of this

As one expert has said, Fewer women will now get contraception and be able to have children by
choice, not chance. While this legislation does not currently prevent women in America from
accessing abortions or contraception, Trump s attitude towards women s reproductive rights should
be a frightening wake up call to us all, as it is foreshadows what could easily happen within the
United States. Trump has clearly stated that he supports an abortion ban at home and identifies
himself as pro life . Do not be complacent, Trump s anti women sentiments can easily be turned
into policy here in the US, making it more difficult for women to access essential reproductive care.
Join me in standing up and speaking out for women s right to have control over their reproductive
health, regardless of where they live in the world. We will not be silenced or gagged from having
a voice in our own future and that of other woman. Women s bodies are not, and should not be,
something that can be governed. This misguided and outdated law does not decrease the number of
abortions that are occurring, but instead places women s emotional and physical health and
wellbeing at risk. This legislation clearly threatens the health and lives of women all around the
world; we need to unite to support our sisters in the fight to regain our right to control our own

Fuel Usage Of Electric Vehicles
Introduction
In 2015, transport energy demand in New Zealand was up 2305.56 GWh, the largest annual
increase in 20 years (MBIE, 2016). This energy came from non renewable fossil fuels, and as such
is not sustainable in the long term. The subject of this research is to investigate the impact of
targeting 20% of the light passenger fleet being electric.
The current electric vehicle fleet is less than 1% of the light passenger fleet, which consists
mainly of petrol and diesel vehicles (Ministry of Transport (MoT), 2016). If the New Zealand
government hopes to increase this figure to 20%, one of the main driving factors is reducing fossil
fuel consumption.
At face value, electric vehicles are the solution to reducing fossil fuel usage in the ... Show more

Vehicle fleet data (MoT, 2015) reveal that 29,249 million kilometres were travelled by 2,811,703
light passenger vehicles (LPV) on petrol. Hence, the average km travelled per LPV was:29,249
million kilometres2,811,703 LPV=10402.69 km/LPV The average light petrol fleet fuel economy
in 2015 was 9.59 L(petrol)/100km (MoT, 2015). Thus, on average, each LPV used:
10402.69 km/LPV9.59 L(petrol)/100km =997.91 L(petrol)/LPV Hence, the total petrol consumed
by 20% of vehicles in the LPF is:
997.91 L(petrol)/LPV603,624 LPV=602.36 million L(petrol)
Consequently, this means that electric vehicles will save about 600 million litres per year if they
replaced 20% of the LPF. Furthermore, in terms of CO2 emissions this equates to: 22.9619.59 L
/100km10402.69 km/LPV603624 LPV=13,826,796.2 kgCO2 not emitted from petrol consumption
per year.
Total fossil fuel offset
While electric vehicles do not directly burn fossil fuels, electricity production does. As a result, the
total fossil fuel offset from electric vehicles is less than the fossil fuels burned when using petrol
vehicles.
A popular electric vehicle in NZ is the Nissan Leaf (MoT, 2017). The following calculations use
the specifications of this car, which has an energy consumption rate of 18.7 kWh/100 km (US
Department of Energy, 2017). For an electric vehicle (EV) to travel the same distance annually as a
typical light passenger petrol vehicle, the amount of energy consumed is:

The History of Titile IX Essay
The History of Titile IX
Sex. That one little word has led to a mini revolution in all aspects of a girl s education, from
Kindergarten to Graduate School, all across the nation. In 1972, Title IX was adopted as the
landmark legislation for prohibition of gender discrimination in schools, and was signed into law,
by President Richard Nixon, on June 23. This legislation encompasses both academics and athletics.
Title IX reads: No person in the U.S. shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, or
denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity
receiving federal aid. Since 1972, many attempts have been made to alter the appearance and effect
of Title IX.

Finally, in 1980, when the Department of Education was established, they were given Title IX to
oversee through the Office of Civil Rights. [1] Through all of this, the goal of Title IX has been
and is,
to ensure that Federal funds are not utilized for and do not support sex based discrimination, and
that individuals have equal opportunities, without regard to sex, to pursue, engage or participate in,
and benefit from academic, extracurricular, research, occupational training, employment, or other
educational programs or activities. [2]
Despite the 1975 regulations schools and courts still debated whether the language of Title IX
itself included their athletic departments at all. At issue was the Title IX, В§ 1681(a), phrase
dealing with funding: sex based discrimination in any education program or activity receiving
Federal financial assistance violated Title IX. [3] Depending on whether a party was fighting for
or against gender equity compliance under Title IX in the athletics area, that party argued for,
respectively, an institution wide or program specific view of this phrase. Supporters of the latter
view argued that Title IX forbade gender discrimination only in those specific programs or
activities receiving direct federal funding. Thus, if an athletic program did not receive any direct
federal funding, the regulations and compliance guidelines of Title IX did not apply to it. As seen in

The Strategic Perspective: Competitive Challenges and Competitive Advantages of Family
Business (BRITTANY)
Much like most family businesses, GLORY INDUSTRIES, holds several competitive advantages.
The ability for GLORY INDUSTRIES to capitalize on its unique advantages begins with trust. CEO,
Myrtha Vilbon, and Commercial Director, Nathalie A. Clodomir are related. Mother, Myrtha Vilbon
and daughter, Nathalie A. Clodomir, demonstrate the truest nature of family ownership management
interaction. With the trust that comes from being a family, Myrtha Vilbon trusts her daughter
Nathalie to make decisions as Commercial Director and to negotiate and secure deals with local
wholesalers. This in turn, results in lower administrative costs, and a quicker agility to adjust to
changing demands of the market. The lowered costs accrued by the family relationship allows
GLORY INDUSTRIES to produce a quality product cheaper than competitors. In lieu, of the
lowered cost structure GLORY INDUSTRIES is able to earn a higher profit margin than

April 26, 2017 5 Cognate Strategies in Writing
In Chapter 4 we were able to discuss the Rhetorical elements and Cognate strategies that help us as
writers be more effective and efficient. The Cognate strategies were developed by Charles
Kostelnick and David Roberts. The word cognate refers to knowledge, and these strategies are
techniques to impart knowledge to your audience which are effective both in oral and written
communication.
The first cognate strategy is Clarity. Many times when we are going to write we have the ideas
in our mind of what we want to share and express to our reader, however the problem is that many
times we do not write it clear enough for the reader to understand what we wanted to say. The
words we use, the structure and the presentation all form how clear we are writing to our ... Show

As a good writer we will naturally develop a relationship with our reader, and the need to make
trust an element is key to that development. The word credibility comes from the word credence,
or belief. Credibility involves your qualities, capabilities, or power to elicit from the audience
belief in your character. Developing a sense of our character and credibility may involve
displaying our real us and our sense of humor, our ability to make our reader laugh or cry, the
ability to share our experiences and get the reader s trust or all the ability to share personal
insight into the topic we are discussing. All of these helps developing character and trust. In my
school we develop credibility by doing what we promise, for example if a parent asks for a letter,
we make sure that the letter is completed for when we said it will be ready. This helps the parents
trust us as a school

The Terrorist Attacks Spread Fear And Fed Conspiracy...
On September 11th 2001, the terrorist attacks spread fear and fed conspiracy theorists. On board
United Airlines flight 93, everyone died, for a total of 44 losses ( United Airlines Flight 93 ).
UA93 crashed in a field near Shanksville, in Pennsylvania. Interpretations of the crash differ, as
some believe the government covered up its involvement in the attacks and others support that the
passengers were celebrated as heroes, as they threatened their attackers (McConnachie and Tudge
401). The discussion of two contrasting opinions follows. David Ray Griffin believes UA93 was
shot down by the U.S. Air Force, whereas James B. Meigs defends that the heroic resistance of the
passengers caused the hijackers to pull the aircraft down. They both demonstrate that the nature and
the position of the plane debris at the crash area, as well as the authorities reactions to the hijacking,
confirm their own point of view. Mr. Meigs explanations express more credibility than Mr. Griffin,
due to the compared use of reliable experts to support their claim between the two men and the
sufficient evidences to prove their viewpoint.
First and foremost, David Ray Griffin, a retired professor of philosophy of religion and theology
strongly believes that two military jets chased UA93 and shot it down, fired under the President
Bush order. His first reason provided is that the U.S. authorities being certainly aware of the United
Airlines hijacking, President Bush supposedly ordered the U.S. Air

  • 2. Long Term Injury Most individuals experience one or more of these injuries throughout life according to medical and fitness experts. There are long term consequences each condition can create if the injury is not allowed to heal properly. As both adults and children participate in repetitive activities daily and from time to time damages to muscle, boneor tendons occur. It may be as simple as a strain to the muscle or tendon as a result of overusing or pushing past a certain limit of ability. The good news is most of these injuries have high recovery rates with only a few needing surgery. Like all injuries it s always a good recommendation to seek a medical health worker for accurate advice on treatment and care. The difference between these three forms of injury: Strain Strains affect the muscles, typically caused from pulling the muscle or tendon. When it happens, you can actually feel the tension. There are several causes, one of course is repetitive movement, but a lack of resting between workouts is a critical culprit, especially when the movement is excessive. Muscles and tendons are fibrous allowing them to be torn or ruptured with serious consequences such as the loss of muscle function or long term therapy for recovery. Sprain ... • 5. Description Of The Play In Othello Othello: A 17th century soap The play Othello was written by William Shakespeare and first performed in 1604. It tells the story of a group of people who are entangled in a complex web of relationships and try to work out the dynamics of their tiny society. This brings forth a load of drama that plays directly into hands of the villain of the story: Iago. He carries a huge grudge against the main character: Othello. The storyline in this play is so dramatic and complicated it can be compared to a television soap nowadays. The main characteristic of a soap is: an emphasis on family life, personal relationships, sexual dramas, emotional and moral conflict. In my opinion the setting of the play, the relationships within and Iago s role contribute to making Othello 17th century television soap. First of all, the setting of Othello greatly contributes to the dramatic storyline. In a modern soap, the circumstances force the characters to face each other. For example, the characters usually form an intimate group, like a family or close group of friends. In real life they would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The director s job description includes producing, enhancing and realizing ideas and taking care the finished product is in line with the original ideas. In Othello, Iago hates Othello but it is not exactly clear what the reason is. It is mentioned that Othello promoted Cassio instead of Iago to lieutenant but does not legitimate Iago s aversion in my opinion. It seems this hate is mostly used to give Iago a motive to come up with a revenge plot and thereby create an interesting story. All characters are influenced either directly or indirectly by Iago and this way all events are orchestrated by the Moor Slayer . This becomes visible in the many soliloquies Iago has in the play. A good example takes place in the third scene of the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Summary Of Self Reliance By Ralph Waldo Emerson Ralph Waldo Emerson was a central figure in the social movement of transcendentalism around the mid 1800s. Transcendentalism is the idea of individualism and the belief that people should trust themselves to be their own authority and not confine themselves to the conformity of society. Throughout his works, Emerson uses ideas such as, individualism, conformity, nonconformity, and persuasive ideas to express his beliefs. During the 1800s to speak out against traditional thought was a rare and disdained action, but it didn t avert Emerson from elaborating his positions on individual matters. He wrote many famous texts that are still relevant today, but in his work Self Reliance , Ralph Waldo Emersonuses powerful language to produce a candid tone that persuades the reader to flout conformity within our society; in hopes of empowering people to become more outspoken and not sit in the shadows of social expectations. One of Emerson s greatest tools is his use of passionate language throughout his work. His passionate use of language and emotional appeal to illustrate his beliefs about conformity. When he states, Else, to morrow a stranger will say with masterly good sense precisely what we have thought and felt all the time, and we shall be forced to take with shame our own opinion from another. (Emerson 2), he is referring to the audience s emotions when missing out on the opportunity to speak. Instead, another person takes the credit for the same idea. Throughout life people hold their tongues when new ideas appear due to the fear of it not being accepted or it being negatively judged. This fear fills many, but the person who has the courage to speak his mind will have self reliance, and the ones who were quiet will rue the missed opportunity. In the early pages of Emerson s Self Reliance , he refers to inner trust and will power when he states, To believe in your own thought, to believe that what is true in your private heart is true for all men this is genius. (Emerson 1). Emerson illustrates that there is nothing more essential to life than one s self confidence and trust, for anything is possible due to will power and determination. Emerson s tone through the early paragraphs of his text is very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Post Ww2 Aircraft Manufacturing Problems Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II Jason Weber Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Aviation Manufacturing Challenges Post World War II I. Summary The American aviation industry was in an uncertain era post World War II (WW2). Aircraft manufacturers were suffering large loses as the demand for planes dropped sharply and the market was flooded. This created more supply than demand. Manufactures expected government sales to decline and braced for it. They hinged their hopes on the need for commercial aviation transportation which never came to fruition (Bright, 1978). The resurgence for the industry came in the form of the jet engine. The Navy, being conservative and resistant to change, did not see the need for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... IV. Development of Alternative Actions Alternative Action 1. Use of large hydraulic presses to form or extrude aircraft parts. Advantages. The U.S. had built huge presses that could exert up to 50,000 tons of force that could serially create one large piece that previously would have been made up of thousands of pieces (Converse, 2012). For example, 4 one piece wing spars fabricated for the F 102 by one of these machines replaced almost 3,500 parts (including 3,200 rivets) that had been needed when traditional construction techniques were used (Bright, 1978). Disadvantages. Presses were not numerous and supply could not meet demand. By the end of the 1950 s the Air Force operated only nine due to funding cuts (Nalty, 1997). The forging process inherently produces parts with less tolerance than what was required at the time. Alternative Action 2. Use of numerically controlled machine tools for aircraft parts. Advantages. The numerically controlled machines could achieve more precise tolerances and speed the aerospace industry required with repeatability (rearm). Disadvantages. Numerically controlled machines was an emerging technology. The research and development costs were extremely high, and the control systems are very costly (Rajput, 2007). V. Recommendation. The rapid technological advances in aircraft at the time did not allow for one stand alone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Primo Levi The Reawakening, by Primo Levi, is a sequel to his first novel, Survival in Auschwitz. It is a deeply powerful memoir of his liberation from the most brutal concentration camps of them all, Auschwitz. Published in 1946, the story of Primo Levi s pursuit for freedom has inspired many people around the world. Levi s quest back home to Italy was a grueling mission, from ruthless acts of the Nazi regime, the traumatic effects of imprisonment in Auschwitz and the near death experience of hunger and illness. The Holocaustbrought a cloud of darkness filled with pain and despair. Very few victims of the Holocaust survived and those who did found it extremely hard to cope with the traumatic memories that the Holocaust instilled in them. Those who... It was very difficult for Jews to recuperate from the racial purification attempts of the Holocaust, but those who showed hope and perseverance through theses grueling times were able to regain their life and self worth. Throughout Levi s reawakening, he met very extraordinary people, many of whom are survivors of the Holocaust just like him. These people can be seen as a symbol in Levi s reawakening helping him establish new life after liberation. Jews are deeply hated amongst the European nation and Levi encounters three authority figures they guide him with rules that he must abide in order to escape detestation. During a walk along the churches of Cracow, Levi came across the first authority figure, a priest. They carried the most extravagant and chaotic conversation in Latin. (Levi, 50) At the end of their encounter the priest advises Levi not to speak German in public. The second authority figure that Levi encountered was a lawyer traveling through Treblinka. He was a Polish man but he could speak German as well. Like the priest, he also advised Levi not to speak German in public. • 9. How Early Islamic Caliphates The first three caliphates to rule after the death of Muhammad shaped the foundation for the growth and development of the early Islamic community. The goal of the caliphates was to unify the Islamic people and spread the word of Islam as far as they could. Although their main goal was the same, the Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid caliphate went about this goal in separate ways. The different techniques used by each caliphate was dependent on the individual caliphs. The treatment of groups of peoples inside the empires also differed between the caliphates. The Rashidun Caliphate, the Umayyad Caliphate, and the Abbasid Caliphate each employed styles of rule unique to their empires. The Rashidun Caliphate was the first of the Islamic caliphates established after Muhammad s death. After his death, the early Islamic community was almost torn apart due to a crisis of control. The Rashidun caliphate had the important job of keeping the community together and growing without the Prophet. Because of the Arab Islamic conquests, the Muslims gained large amounts of territory; however, the Arab Muslim leaders did not have the experience that was needed to rule an empire. In The Rise of Islam, Matthew Gordon writes, a fundamental challenge for the caliphs, their governors, and the Arab military elite was to understand how large scale agrarian economies functioned (28). In order to rule an empire, the authority of the Rashidun caliphs had to be legitimized. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The story is written in first person narration from the point of view of protagonist, Melinda Sordino. Speak is written like an interior monologue in the mind of an introverted teenage girl, like excerpts from her personal diary during her miserable freshman year of high school. Instead of blending in and finding her way through high school. She withdraws and secludes herself from the other students. She calls herself an outcast. Realistically, Heather being the new girl just wants to make friends. Heather doesn t know what is really going on with Melinda because she just moved to town. Heather has no idea what happened the night when Melinda called the police, which busted a summer party. In fact, no one knows, except for Melinda, what happened to her at the party? She is convinced that because she is a victim, no one understands her. The whole world, including her world, is out to get her and so it is best for her to remain silent. Ironically, the person Melinda finds as the outlet to help her express her feelings is her art teacher, Mr. Freeman. In a class assignment, Melinda is assigned to create an art project based on a tree. She begins to express her inner angst through this art project. At one point, she uses dried bones to sculpt a picture of a skeleton. Then she glues broken knives and forks to the project so that the bones look like the plastic utensils are stabbing them. It is a grim depiction of how Melinda feels, and is immediately praised by Mr. Freeman. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Writing Styles Of My Writing Style Sometimes when I look at the writing styles of my peers, be it on social media, emails I can sense a distinction between the different writing styles that are used. When I m writing whether it be in an email, text or a lab report I try my best to write everything more formally and longhand, which a lot of people tend to overlook in today s society. The last thing I wrote was a letter that I had sent to my significant other through the mail. The nuances of writing seem to be disappearing from today s society, the finer intricacies of the English language will be lost in a generation or two, and cursive language is no longer being taught in schools, with all the abbreviations being used a lot of writing feels less personal and more mechanical. ... • 12. Homelessness Of Philadelphia And Pennsylvania Homelessness Effecting Pennsylvania In Philadelphia, homelessness is all around. On every street in the city, there will most likely be a homeless person asking for money or sleeping on the ground owning little to nothing. Homelessness is not only a major problem in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania but entirely the United States. There are so many people living on the streets, in abandoned houses, and even cars. The majority of homeless people are veterans, drug addicts, unemployed people, people who have a mental illness and teenagers who have ran away. The best solution to getting people off the streets and able to work, make money and living in a house or apartment that they can afford is for the state to give more money to homeless shelters and organizations. If the state of Pennsylvania gave more money to homeless shelters, the shelters would be able to open up their doors to more homeless people and help them get back on track. • 16. Creativity Is Not An Oxymoron Introduction In an ever diversifying global market, creativity has become imperative in empowering innovation within the market. The demand for creativity has increased, especially in the business market sphere and a need for managing creativity is evident. However, the coming together of management and creativity is believed to be incompatible , and mutually destructive by parties from both arts and management backgrounds (Howkins, 2002, p. 120). If management where a square, creativity would be a circle, and the two are not complementary shapes, thus many would argue managing creativity to be oxymoronic. Because of the different characteristics and methods of creativity and management, this statement seems true surface level. Creativity is an ambiguous term that is subjective and difficult to measure in a definite form and makes it difficult to manage in one specific way. So how can a manager maximize the creativity of an individual and how can one manage creativity most effectively and collectively? This paper will focus on the idea that managing creativity is not an oxymoron if the right approaches are implemented. Creativity is necessary for new innovation to happen, but a business s foremost focus is on growth and profit (Howkins, 2002). Rather than viewing him as the heroic and invincible man that he was, I found myself constantly looking forward to the abusive man he is, ignoring the courageous acts he had accomplished. He originally comes off as a fearless, valiant man in the novel Zeitoun, but now he is a criminal. This alteration was provoked. When it comes to collegesports, it is easy for a player to be persuaded to shave a few points for money. A typical question asked about sports is what happens if a team or player is caught cheating? Cheating is widespread it just depends on if the team or player gets caught. • 27. Ocean Stratification The earth, as we know, is and always has been changing. Although we may not be able to feel or even see such gradual changes, we must try to aid our planet s longevity for future generations. A major problem that we face is the deterioration of Earth s atmosphere and climate change. Some believe that the problem could be fixed through geoengineering. Scientists and engineers have proposed many potential solutions with geoengineering, one being ocean fertilization. This idea suggests filling regions of the ocean with ironand other various nutrients where little biological production exists. This would increase phytoplankton activity that would take the carbon down deeper into the ocean. Ultimately, this could get rid of excess carbon when the phytoplankton die and fall to the ocean floor. Ocean fertilization, although it may have a few negative effects, could lower the amount of carbon dioxidein the atmosphere, thus slowing down Earth s natural heating process. Although there are many experts who believe that this system would actually cause more damage and add more carbon than the amount it removes, the chances are very slim. The Great Law Of Motion Of History Essay The struggle inherent in putting forward what is hailed as the great law of motion of history (The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte 14) rests in ensuring that one s purported application of that law is consistent with its abstract detailing. For example, in Karl Marx s theoretical works and historical writing specifically The 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte the philosopher and revolutionary consistently describes the conditions under which men must operate for them to have a chance at restructuring their society and achieving emancipation. Marx illustrates across theory and practice how mankind, though limited in its autonomy by the existing societal order, has an opportunity to emancipate itself from the legal and political superstructure constructed independently of its will when sufficiently focused, energized and united. Hence how Marx pays enough heed to a particular, the ascent of Louis Napoleon, such that he can present it as reflective of a greater universal principle: historical materialism. After all, we [must] not judge of such a period of transformation by its own consciousness...this consciousness must be explained rather from the existing conflict between the social productive forces and the relations of production. In some states like Utah, there is a push to lower the legal intoxication limit from 0.08 BAC to 0.05 BAC. In Massachusetts, there is a push to get ignition interlock devices into cars to prevent people that are under the influence of alcohol from getting behind the wheel. Combining these two aspects to clamp down on drunk drivingwould be considered strict enforcement of laws. There are many people that are in full support of this reduction and the use of the ignition interlock systems. However, there are people that are trying to make a stand against these topics. Lowering the legal intoxication limit and increasing the use of ignition interlock systems will create a safer environment for society by saving lives, reducing crime, and increasing overall traffic safety. Most consumers of alcohol are unaware to the effects of driving after ingesting alcohol into their systems. Driving impaired is one of the top 10 leading causes of death in the United States. Not only since the Snowden leaks of 2012 has the question of, who records and who is being recorded become of interest to a wide audience. Access to such data collection, the knowledge about it and the subjects relation to all encompassing technology have been the basis of many influential writings of the last two decades. From works such as Empire (Hardt and Negri) that investigate the effects of an all encompassing global communication network on what Habermas called the public sphere to Geert Lovink s investigation into the roots and practices of critical Internet culture, scholars agree on the existing and growing importance of data access. In addition to that exists another school of thought more concerned with the realizations of (digital) memory. Starting from Derrida s writing on the archive (Derrida), to works such as Wolfgang Ernst s Media Archeology, scholars are interested in the effects of media as memory agents. However, none of these works have yet adequately addressed the question of sustainable storage in relation to the power systems as described above.
