Is Willy A Good Father
Throughout a child s life, especially in the lives young boys, their father is one of the most
important figures in their lives. They learn how to act, how to respect others and other lessons that
are useful for the rest of their lives. Young boys look up to their fathers throughout their childhood.
In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman is not the number one dad in the country and
sets a bad example for his children, even though he had good intentions. Along with his inability to
admit his own faults, he teaches his sons the wrong lessons in life.
Willy s immense pride and his lack of honesty cause him to become a lousy father. Being unable to
accept his mistakes, he makes it seem as though he has lived the perfect life and ... Show more

Willy wanted his sons to pursue the American dream and become successful by working on the
road and being well liked. When both of them try to find their own dreams are, Willy becomes
frustrated and disappointed in them. Their two different dreams collide and cause friction in their
father son relationship. Willy takes too much interest in his sons futures to have a healthy
relationship with them. Whenever his children may seem to fail him, he overlooks any mistakes
they are making. This occurs often, especially with Biff. Along with Willy ignoring Biff s bad
habit of stealing, he also ignores the fact that Biff is doing terribly in school when Bernard comes
to warn him. Willy chooses to hear the things he wants to hear about his sons because he wants
them to become successful and follow his version of the American dream.
Willy s interest or forcefulness in the futures of his sons imposes a tension between them because
Willy essentially proves that Biff and Happy will only be successful if they follow Willy s
footsteps. Being too involved in your child s life damages their ability to have their own dreams and

For this project I visited multiple online museums, but decided on The Metropolitan Museum of

to be interesting to me and that caught my eye are The Harvesters by Pieter Bruegel the Elder
found at http://www.metmuseum.org, Open Window, Collioure by Henri Matisse found at http:/

Bertin tended to paint pictures of subject who are religious, mythological, and allegorical. This
painting in particular portrays Christ washing Saint Peter s feet right after the Last Supper.
There is a strong focal point in this painting and it is the man standing in the red robe with his
hand on his chest. There is also a lot of activity in this painting as well because there is Christ to
the left washing the feet surrounded by his disciples, the women in the background at the table,
and the man to the right fixing his shoe. Bertin used a lot of facial expressions for each of the
people in this painting from puzzled to humiliation. The size of this oil on panel painting is 1 ft 7.5

The Killings And Destruction Of Cultures Throughout The...
History is told in many different ways, and the truth that lies in the stories told, can sometimes be
blurred by different perspectives. Comparing four cases of genocide which formed in the United
States, Australia, British India and German Southwest Africa, allows for a better comprehension of
genocide as defined by the UN Convention. The four cases raise question as to why we can
consider the cases to be genocide, and what similarities and differences each case has.
Considering the UN definition , I acknowledge all but the British Indian case to be genocide.
There are multiple similarities between the mass killings and destruction of cultures in the US,
Australia, and German Southwest Africa, which align with the classification of genocide, but in
the case of British India, it doesn t align. Using The Historiography of Genocide by Dan Stone,
Victoria s Ghost by Mike Davis, To Kill A People by John Cox and Genocide by Adam Jones, I
will articulate arguments about the genocides found in each case.
In the year 1608, pilgrims arrived to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts where Indians fed them and
showed them hospitality. In return, the colonists brought Indians small poxes, among other
diseases, which would decimate the Indian community. The plague of diseases caused a decrease
in Indian population, from roughly 7 million to 237,000, and allowed for the settlers to expand.
Although the spread of disease was not the settlers intent, it is arguably a factor in the success of

Children Should Be Taught In Public Schools
An undeniable fact in our life is that some children are more intelligent or capable than their peers.
However, whether these children should be taught separately has long been a topic of debate.
If students with different abilities are put in the same class the first benefit is that they can learn
from each other and draw on other people s strengths. A mathematical genius may be poor in arts
or sports and this is what he can improve by interacting with his classmates. Also why we object to
separate teaching is that teachers tend to pay more attention to those with better academic results
which may give students in the slow class a sense of discrimination.
However, some people believe that children should be put in different classes according to their
abilities. This mode enables students particularly those intelligent ones to fully develop their ...

This also seems to be a reasonable arrangement for those ordinary students who would feel less
stressed . With students of similar abilities in one class it would be easier for schools to make their
teaching plans and control the progress.
From my point of view,to promote an all around development it is better to have students study
together regardless of their abilities and talents. However this is not against individualized teaching
and learning in our schools. In addition to standardized teaching plans some extracurricular
programs can be designed for students with particular talents in some

The Causes Of The Japanese Internment Of WWII
The Japanese internment of WWII was one of the biggest cases of racial prejudice America has
ever committed. During a time when Italian and German Americans were a much bigger threat to
our nation s security, we deliberately alienated Japanese citizens in our society. Not only did we
restrict the freedoms of American born citizens for three years, but we have also caused long term,
irreparable damage to the Japanese people, and their society. While internment may have decreased
the odds of Japanese spies in our military and mob violence it is no excuse for the atrocity we put
our own citizens through. American citizens, who are granted the right to life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happyness, were robbed of these very rights our country was founded on. Internment
camps were often in the middle of nowhere, and in very disatifactory condition for all residing in
them. After internment many people, since they could not pay their mortgage loans, lost their
homes and life savings causing widespread poverty. These and many other factors are why
internment during WWII was unjust and motivated by racial prejudice, not national security. While
Japanese internment may have isolated a small amount of Japanese spies, it was unjustified
considering that the majority of people interned where innocent. According to government officials
at the time, Japanese American citizens posed no threat to the West coast. Curtis B Munson said in
the Muson Report that, There is no Japanese problem

Nebraska State Budget
Assignment 4.2
Abstract
The State of Nebraska has a biennium budget that is set from 2013 all the way to 2015.
Knowing what is in your budget and how to properly gauge what will be needed for the coming
two years in each department is an important aspect to a successful budget. The person in charge
of the budget for each department needs to know how to properly budget and respond to the
needs of the state in the most fiscal way possible. A budget is only as good as the person who is
running it. The Nebraska State budget is complex, but with the right amount of team work and
dedication, it seems to run very smoothly.
Nebraska State Budget The Nebraska State budget is set on a biennium basis. Since this is the case
the budget will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives a broad overview of the total estimated costs of all the areas that are being run in the state.
The appropriations that are shown in the 2012 13 current fiscal year are those adopted by 2011
regular session and were further broken down during the 2011 special session of the 102nd
legislature. The Governor s budget recommendations for FY 2013 14 expect a general fund
increase by four point nine percent over the two year period. By doing this the Governor is
exceeding the minimum reserve requirement of fourteen point eight million for the next biennium.
This type of foreshadowing is what is helping Nebraska to look at the overall big picture and to
try and stay within the state allowable budget as closely as possible. The planning even estimates
all the way into the 2015 17 biennium that would set the future growth at five percent and also
leave a General Fund balance in excess of the minimum reserve requirement (Heineman, 2013).
Revenue Generation, Expenditures, and Services The State of Nebraska does a good job of
showing what the state s budget is being spent on and to which programs the money for the state is
going. When looking at the state s budget there are several items that have been considered for the
biennium. The State of Nebraska sets its recommendations by each functional area that are broken
down into general government, agriculture, environment and natural resources, economic
development, human resources development,

Nike Case Study
In 1964, college track athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman started Blue Ribbon
Sports, a distribution company for what are known today as Asics shoes. In 1971, Blue Ribbon
Sports began designing and selling their own shoes and changed their name to Nike. Nike is no
stranger to bad press and highlighted in a 2014 Business Insider article written by Lara O Reilly,
she mentions a few of the bold moves they made over the years that have garnered attention,
starting with the change of their name. Another controversial move they made was with their
slogan, Just Do It , which was admittedly inspired by the last words of a serial killer right before
his execution. Furthermore, they also endorsed their first professional athlete who was nicknamed
the Bucharest Buffoon because of his scandalous reputation. Phil Knight has been quoted as saying,
It doesn t matter how many people you offend, as long as you re getting your message to your
consumers... In this submission, I will explain how Nikecame to its sweatshop scandal situation

responded to this situation, how the company could have responded differently, and what would the
consequences have been as a result.

Media Propaganda
Media propaganda
Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community
toward some cause or position.
As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents
information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus
possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to
produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result
is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda.
Propaganda can be used as a form of political warfare.

The Creel Commission provided themes for speeches by four minute men at public functions, and
also encouraged censorship of the American press. The Commission was so unpopular that after the
war, Congress closed it down without providing funding to organize and archive its papers.
The war propaganda campaign of Lippmann and Bernays produced within six months such an
intense anti German hysteria as to permanently impress American business (and Adolf Hitler,
among others) with the potential of large scale propaganda to control public opinion. Bernays
coined the terms group mind and engineering consent , important concepts in practical propaganda
work. The file Century of the Self by Adam Curtis documents the immense influence of these ideas
on public relations and politics throughout the last century.
The current public relations industry is a direct outgrowth of Lippmann s and Bernays work and
is still used extensively by the United States government. For the first half of the 20th century
Bernays and Lippmann themselves ran a very successful public relations firm. World saw
continued use of propaganda as a weapon of war, both by Hitler s propagandist Joseph Goebbels
and the British Political Warfare Executive, as well as the United States Office of War Information.

Araby Historical Context
Milestone Project I Part II: Sources and Historical Context When it comes to the theories of
Feminist Criticism and Psychoanalytical Criticism an interesting aspect can be found, that at times
they often dispute or ignore one another, though they often coincide. Another aspect that follows
along with this is that the often intertwine with each other. Having both these topics to analyze the
work Araby by James Joyce coincide as well with the story s on analyzed historical context, and how
the narrator s actions. Feminism Criticism was stated to be used to find women s writing
involvement in history, recovering this writing, displacement of these writings, and whether
women s tradition is being established in the text (Wolosky 1). These conquests have not

James Joyce wrote each story as a perspective view into an Irish culture. One of the main settings
of the story is the Bazaar that is taking place, and though most writers and analyses of this work

The Athabasca Oil Sands In Canada
The Alberta Oil Sands
Situated in Canada, Alberta s three oil sand areas are known as the Athabasca oil sands, the Cold
Lake oil sands, and the Peace River oil sands. The sands are worth approximately $1 trillion and
they are the largest export in the industry. Currently, the oil provides jobs for about 514,000 people
across Canada, and in 2028 this is expected to grow to over 800,000 jobs1. In Canada, almost every
community has been touched by the oil sands development through the impact it has on economic
growth and job creation, according to the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI)2.

The Canadian government will not stop the production of crude oil in the sands even though, the
Government of Alberta s most ambitious goal is to have emissions stabilized by 20205. Their
target is a 14 percent reduction in GHGs (Canada s Greenhouse Gas Emissions) by 20505.
Environmental companies such as Greenpeace and others are trying to reach out to the First
Nations and the landowners that are affected by the tar sands. They also have met with Canadian
and international shareholders in oil companies to discuss the investment risks associated with the
sands. Lots of people are now realizing what will be the consequences if Alberta is continuously
mined at this rate.
We Must Do our Part
I believe that we must take immediate action to help preserve our world to conserve it for the
future inhabitants. This can be done by donating money to environmental companies such as
Greenpeace, and creating awareness about the future problems and current disasters. We must
reduce our carbon footprint usage along with making an effort to limit the amount of the crude oil
produced in Alberta. If we all strive to put an honest effort, then we can all live a healthier and

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest By Ken Kesey
In Ken Kesey s book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, there were two main characters that were
in a battle to have the majority of control over the ward. Throughout the story, they engaged in
different acts of stubbornness to see who could display the most power and which of the two could
stand their ground the longest without giving in to the other. These two characters were: Randle
McMurphy, a new patient who was determined to change the ways of the ward, and Nurse

He says, Just as I said: any of you sharpies here willing to take my five bucks that says that I can
get the best of that woman, before the week s up, without her getting the best of me? (73) This
quote shows that McMurphy is very self assured that he can accomplish what he sets his mind to.
The ward was not used to this kind of behavior in a man. Most of the men that were already there
needed to be there because of an actual insanity problem, but McMurphy was there because he
would rather have been there than where he was before and the court had allowed him to be
transferred. McMurphy took them completely by surprise with his resistance to follow their
instructions and to do what he was expected to do. At his arrival, he immediately exhibited
disobedience. He refused to take a shower, which was the asylum s policy for new admissions.
This instantly put Randle McMurphy under the staff s radar for them to watch out for. Nurse
Ratched (also known as Big Nurse) was used to being forceful to get what she wanted. She
stopped at no end to have complete oversight over the men in the ward. When the men were in the
nurse s presence they were either saying what they knew she wanted to hear or cleaning something
that she ordered them to clean. They knew not to speak out against her and to not say something
that would make you stand out too much. Ratched s tactics to get them to be fit for society were

The Manufacture Of Teen Space On Cruise Ships
The Manufacture of Teen Space on Cruise Ships: An Environment of Autonomous, Aspirational
Consumption
Cruise ships are cathedrals of consumption in which consumer activity is controlled and encouraged
by the enchanting environment constructed (Ritzer, 7). Through an atmosphere of spectacle and
grandiosity cruise ships entice spending from passengers. This effect continues throughout all areas
of the ship, including space specifically designed for young travelers. Capitalism s construction
of the child as a consumer is reified in these isolated and purified kids only areas. By creating age
specific kidspaces , cruise ship companies effectively encourage the Kids Getting Older Younger
(KGOY) phenomenon and the growing anti adultism mentality, by granting tweens and teens an
effective façade of independence that allows them to enact their power of consumer choice.
Spaces geared for ages 12 17 will be explored on three major cruise lines; Carnival, Disney, and
Royal Caribbean, in order to better understand the effects of these environments on young
consumers. In order to decipher the ways each cruise line hails the youth audience, this essay will
look at the construction of kidspace as well as the language used to describe each environment.
As mentioned above, cruise ships are in fact consumer spaces. These massive ships encompass so
many facets of contemporary capitalist society. Restaurants, hotels, shopping malls, amusement
parks, spas and nightclubs, are just a start to

The Cove Dolphins
Approximately 20,000 dolphins are killed legally every year and thousands more are sold
inhumanely in Taiji, Japan. The majority of these dolphins are sold to marine parks and
aquariums around the world. Louie Psihoyos and Ric O Barry s eye opening documentary The
Cove raises awareness about the gruesome killings of dolphins in Japan. Ironically Ric O Barry
feels that he initiated this problem, as he was one of the first dolphintrainers/capturers in the 1960 s
for the show Flipper. After witnessing the star, Flipper the Bottlenose Dolphin commit suicide in his
arms, he became a marine activist, which led to the production of this documentary to stop the

The universal image of the dolphin portrays the illusion that dolphins are always happy because
they consistently appear to be smiling. This, however, is nature s greatest deception as it is simply
the shape of their mouth. Throughout the film the juxtaposition of the beauty of nature is harshly
contrasted with the ugliness of the underlying secrets of the industry in Japan and around the
world. The fishing industry is largest in Japan therefore that is where this movie was filmed. The
captive industry has become a lucrative billion dollar worldwide trade, with all money made from
the exploitation, imprisonment and lifelong suffering of these living beings. A live dolphin
captured for a marine mammal park can be valued up to $200,000. The most shocking fact is that
this is legal. The International Whaling Commission outlawed commercial whaling in 1986, but
dolphin hunts remain legal. The film s impact was largely due to the emotional ties between O
Barry and dolphins. Although the filmmakers are extremely biased, his convincing pleads for our
help are strategically made at the most emotional moments. He believes that bottlenose dolphins are
being hunted the most The fishermen are searching for bottlenose dolphins like flipper . Luckily

The Rise Of Civilization And Ancient Civilizations
The rise of civilization has always fascinated people. Since the appearance of anatomically modern
human beings, some one hundred and fifty thousand years ago, the emergence of civilization has
been one of the most important accomplishments of people.
Civilization is defined as an organizing principle that implies common institutions, economic
systems, social structures, and values that extend over space and time (Matthews 3). Some of the
things that make up a civilization are religion, government, arts, writing and language, currency,
study of science, math and medicine as examples. The two earliest known civilizations were
Mesopotamia and Egypt. These two civilizations arose around the same time and coincidentally
near one another, near the Mediterranean Sea. Many similarities and differences exist between
these ancient civilizations. In particular, the religions of these two civilizations are distinguishably
different, yet have many concrete similarities as well.
The religions of Mesopotamia and Egypt are the products of the environment that the people lived
in and their experiences living in it. Because of the harsh and unpredictable nature of their
environment, the religion of the ancient people in Mesopotamia was very pessimistic.
They lived only at the mercy of their gods, who they believed were of great power and controlled
the environment. In ancient Egypt, contrastingly, nature was far more stable and predictable. It was
thusly believed that the gods favored

The Internet Of Things Can Be Developed And Refined
The Internet of Things seeks to connect everyday devices and sensors in order to monitor and
influence their environment. In the coming years everything from your refrigerator to your car will
be networked together to collect data and simplify your life. However, in order for this future to
come to fruition, the underlying infrastructure must be developed and refined. This infrastructure
needs to be able to support the high volume of data that will be generated as well as the lossy
channels over which that data will be communicated. The Internet of Things is still a new and
upcoming technology and as such much of the state of the art still concerns itself with the
development of the underlying protocols and architectures. One of the... Show more content on

It can be used to connect 6LoWPAN networks directly to other networks and the Internet through
an IP router. The 6LoWPAN protocol is designed for low power radio transmitter that have to
operate over lossy channels. 6LoWPAN implements header compression to reduce the overhead
needed to send an individual data packet. It is able to accomplish this by removing redundant
header fields and using a compressed version of the routing address. To accommodate for the
limited packet sizes, fragmentation and reassembly is required to transmit large packets. [2]The
unique constraints of IoT networks also require a specialized network routing protocol.
Currently the leading candidate is the RPL protocol. Typically, all sensor nodes in an IoT
network are connected the root node via a multi hop path. The root node often serves as the data
/network coordinator as well as a gateway to the Internet. For each root node a Destination
Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph is used to optimize the path from any node back to the root
node. This Graph is created by calculating shortest path to the root node that adheres to specific set
of constraints. Some of these constraints might include: minimizing the number of hops, only
using encrypted links, avoiding battery operated devices, etc. Once, the graph is created data can
be forwarded along the graph to the root node [4].The CoAP protocol operates at the application
layer and is similar to HTTP, but with

Treaty Implementation And Interpretation Of The Treaty Of...
In order to determine if the Crown failed to fulfill the obligations of Treaty 7, the following issues

obligations as determined by the written text of the treaty? i) Substantive Breach: Was there a
breach of the written obligations of the treaty regarding the creation of IR 147? b) Historical

i)Substantive Breach:If the reserve was properly created in accordance with the text of the
treaty there may not be a breach in the Crown s obligations. To create a reserve in accordance
with the Indian Act, the Supreme Court of Canada set out the requirements in the Ross River
Deana Council decision. These requirements, as applied by Wewaykum Indian Band v. Canada,
include an act by the Crown to set apart Crown land for use of an Indian band combined with an
intention to create a reserve on the part of persons having authority to bind the Crown and
practical steps by the Crown and the Indian band to realize that intention. The Crown set apart
land to create a reserve when the Indian Agent appointed a surveyor to survey land according to
the entitlements in Treaty 7. The Redfoot Nation realized these intentions when they were vocal
regarding their dissatisfaction on the location of the land, however practical steps were also taken
by the Crown when the Superintendent General of Indian Affairs moved the Redfoot to the
surveyed lands for their use as a reserve. Therefore, it appears that the Crown fulfilled the
requirements and, as a result, the reserve identified as IR 147 was properly created, fulfilling the
substantive duties of the fulfillment of Treaty 7 to establish a reserve in southern Alberta.
b)Historical Context It appears that the Crown and the

Viewing Amadeus allows one to become better acquainted with the life, times, and music of
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This report will describe some of the film s outstanding themes and

The setting, as well as the fashion of this film was upscale, meaning that everything was detailed

Social Culture Of The Pawnee Tribe
The Pawnee tribe is a Native American tribe that was originated from Nebraska and had very
unique cultural elements. The cultural elements I chose to go more indepth are Social
Organizations, Customs and Traditions, Language, and Religion of the Pawnee tribe. For the
Social Organizations I will discuss the social classes, and the political organization of the tribe. For
Customs and Traditions I will examine the rules of behavior, as well as the food they consumed.
For LanguageI will discuss the written and the unwritten language as well as the common
language with the other bands. Lastly I will talk about the Religion and go into more details on
their rituals, and their beliefs. I believe that the longevity of the tribe was directly related to the
way they lived. The social organization of the Pawneetribe consisted of the social class, and the
political organization. The Pawnee tribe was divided into four main bands the Chaui or the
Great Band , the Kitkahahki or the Republican , the Pirahauerat or the Tappage and the Skiri or
the Wolf Pawnee . These four bands made up the political organization. The Chaui are generally
recognized as being the leading band although each band was autonomous, that is until outside
pressures from the Europeans and neighboring tribes saw the Pawnee drawing closer together.
(Legends of America) The Pawnee s social classes were set up in a series of hierarchical divisions.

(Ashcroft 3). Sadly, his portrayal was not that far from the truth. Throughout the early 2000s, the

From the time Idi Amin came to power in Uganda until the time his regime fell, his brutal rule
negatively impacted Uganda in every aspect of its existence. In 1971, Idi Amin along with military
support, ousted Prime Minister Milton Obote while he was out of the country in Singapore

Not only did Amin harm Uganda by killing a lot of its population, he also was the cause of an
almost complete economic collapse, when, in 1972, he declared an economic war on the Asian
population in Uganda. Uganda s economy relied heavily on its Asian population because they ran
most of the manufacturing and trade sectors as well as making up a large portion of the civil
service. Amin s order of expulsion for the Asian population gave them three months to exit Uganda.
They were given British passports and the businesses they left behind were turned over to Amin s
supporters. Amin not only decimated the population of Uganda during his despotic reign but
caused the economy to falter and fail as well. As his reign of terror went on, news of Amin s
crimes and atrocities began surfacing internationally, spurring retaliatory actions from countries all

In order to understand the affections of this television program on each cognitive stage of
children, I must introduce Jean Paige, a constructivist as well as an interactionist that developed a
cognitive theory on children. He believed that children think and reason differently at different
periods in their lives. He discovered that children are developed by passing through an invariant
sequence that includes four distinct stages. The four stages are: sensorimotor, from birth to the
age of 2; preoperational 2 7 years old; concrete operational 7 12 years old; and formal operational
12 years and up.
Start with sensorimotor stage, which include the children between 0 2 years old. This is the stage
of cognitive development where kids have basic motor skills and learn how to move in the

Muscular Dystrophy Case Study
Duchenne s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is caused by recessive mutations in the dystrophin gene on
the X chromosome affecting 1 in every 3,500 5,000 male births. As shown in Fig. 1, dystrophin
protein anchors the actin cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix, playing critical roles in
stabilizing and protecting the musclefibers against strain related injuries. As outlined in Fig. 2,
dystrophin mutations lead to myocyte fragility and membrane damages with repeated contractions,
resulting in increased cell permeability. Consequently, calcium ions diffuse into the myocytes,
activating calcium dependent proteases to cause further cell necrosis. , Additionally, creatine kinase

Prednisone is a type of commonly prescribed corticosteroid known for its anti inflammatory and
immunosuppressive properties through direct gene expression regulations. The precise mechanism
by which prednisone increases muscle strength in DMD patients is unknown, but hypothesises have
been made based on its modulatory effects in the myocyte inflammation, degeneration and
regeneration pathways following damage. As illustrated in Fig. 3, under healthy physiology
condition, myocyte damage stimulates signaling pathways that promotes both degeneration and
regeneration of the damaged tissue to promote healing. The extend of muscle healing is dependent
on the balance between the two processes. As outlined in Fig. 4, initial myocyte damage activates
inflammatory cells such as neutrophils and macrophages to inflict further necrosis through the
release of free radicals and proteases. The damaged myocytes are then removed via phagocytosis to
provide space for healthy tissue regeneration. The regeneration process is initiated through the
activation of myocyte precursor cells called satellite cells to differentiate and fuse at the site of
damage. However the proliferating abilities of satellite cells are reduced in DMD patients due to
the absence of dystrophin proteins, resulting in impaired muscle regeneration capacities. As a result,
inflammation

throughout Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream is the time of day during which the play s

to this theme that appear numerous times throughout the script. Four such words are moon,
moonlight, moonshine, and lunatic. Each comes from a feminine root that serves to identify the

Theseus looks to the moon to measure how soon he will wed his fiancГ©, Hippolyta. Hippolyta
responds in kind, commenting, And then the moon, like to a silver bow / New bent in heaven,
shall behold the night / Of our solemnities (1.1.7, 14). Not only does the bride speak of the moon
as a measurement (for when it becomes a silver bow, or crescent, they wed), but she also speaks
of the night when the moon wanes as a time of festive marriage ceremonies. It is important to
take into account the character of Hippolyta in this instance. Having Theseus wed Hippolyta,
Queen of the Amazons, takes away Hippolyta s power as a strong female. She, too, is counting
the nights by the waning of the moon until she is legitimately wed and under the control of a
husband. The lesser characters, below royalty in the social order, take part in illicit happenings
veiled by night, as the moon oversees the activities of May Day/Midsummer s Eve. The moon is
considered a passive overseer or witness to (the actions of humankind) (Brown 1645). In the
forest of Oberon and Titania, the moon is truly an observer. Within a monologue by Titania, the
fairy queen announces, Therefore the moon, the governess of floods, / Pale in her anger, washes

How Has Feminism Influenced Music
Has feminism influenced music in the last 30 years? Introduction Feminism and music have long
been combined throughout the 1900 s. However, in my essay I will be attempting to answer the
question of has feminism influenced music, particularly in the last 30 years. The near infinite
variation of feminism expressed in a range of different types of music genres has led to many
interesting and empowering assortments of music being established. One such genre is punk
music, which is the most popular genre to be combined with feminism, to create hard hitting and
powerful bands, which were most commonly formed, in particular, in the 1970s and 1990s. I will
be investigating in this essay, in particular, questions such as what has been the most significant
impact of feminism and music, and how this began to get popular, to help me answer the ultimate
question of has feminism influenced music in the last 30 years? , and I will be exploring both
sides of the argument and explaining both arguments for and against in detail. Has feminism
influenced music? One argument that suggests feminism hasn t influenced music in the past 30
years is that recent artists are still protesting against gender inequality. For example, BeyoncГ©

landbased system based on depth and redundancy to a seabased system focused on speed and
precision. The United States Marine Corps strategic move to Expeditionary Force 21 and
reconnecting with the mindset of an expeditionary force in readiness focused on enhancing
operational maneuver from the sea, ship to objective maneuver, and seabasing in concert with the
nation s defense strategy is requiring a versatile and flexible over the horizon (OTH) logistical
support platform. With the United States Marine Corpsfuture requirements for expeditionary
operations a combined Aviation and Ground Combat Service Support (CSS) ship is required to

In light of this, it is important for us to re think our strategies for housing the poor, and to re visit
some of that traditional building wisdom, in which people and communities were the key agents in
building and upgrading their housing, and local materials and local building techniques were their
inexpensive and environmentally sustainable tools to do that.
Bamboo is the most marvelous plant in nature. The word bamboo was coined by Carl von
LinnГ© in 1753. Bamboo is a grass plant like rice, corn and sugarcane. Different to these, the
lignin of its tissues becomes after some years a structure as hard as wood, but more flexible and
light. Bamboo is not a new field for researchers. In China, in Jin Dynasty (265 420 A.C) there has
been monograph which observed and recorded the botanic properties of diverse bamboo species.
Bamboo is an important resource in the Indian socio economic, cultural, ecological, climatic
functional context with 1500 recorded uses. It is a fast growing, wide spread, renewable, versatile,
low cost, environment enhancing resource with potential to improve livelihood security in the
years to come, in both rural and urban areas. Apart from its traditional uses bamboo has various

Value proposition
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Creating a value proposition is part of business strategy. Kaplan and Norton[1] say Strategy is based
on a differentiated customer value proposition. Satisfying customers is the source of sustainable
value creation.
Developing a value proposition is based on a review and analysis of the benefits, costs and value
that an organization can deliver to itscustomers, prospective customers, and other constituent
groups within and outside the organization. It is also a positioning of value, whereValue = Benefits
Cost (cost includes risk)[2].

Strong value propositions are also expressed from the customer s perspective and talk about the
experiences and benefits that they will have when using the product.
[edit]Competitive Advantage
A product with a successful consumer value proposition is directly linked to a products actual and
sustained performance versus competition. The two main attributes that allow consumers to
differentiate among products are price and quality. Finding the correct balance between these two
attributes usually leads to a successful product. If a company is able to produce the same quality
product as its direct competition but sell it for less, this provides a price value to the consumer.
Similarly, if a company is able to produce a superior quality product for the same or a slightly
higher but acceptable price, the value to the consumer is added through the quality of the product.
A product must offer value through price and/or quality in order to be successful.

David s Bridal Beaded Lace Night
When you immerse yourself in the world of wedding dress styles, it s unlikely that you really
grasped the difference between mermaid silhouettes and trumpet. The difference is so subtle, that
unless you re a dress designer, you might not know. That s completely understandable, and we re
here to educate you! Mermaid dressesare tight throughout the bodice, down the the hips and the
thighs. The dressbegins to flare below the knees. If you think of a mermaid and her fins, you ll get
the basic shape. The trumpet dress is tight down to the middle of the thighs. The dress can flare
around the hip, below the crease of the buttocks, or around mid thigh. It really is such a subtle
difference in silhouettes that we ll forgive you for not knowing.
David s Bridal Beaded Lace Wedding Gown
The plunging v neck bodice with wide straps is covered in stunning lace details that bring an
elegance and beauty to this dress. The entire dress is covered in ruffles of lace with a fringe of tulle
on the end of each as it flares into the trumpet shape. The back is open, and while it looks like
covered buttons keep the dress closed, it s zippered for easy closing. The train is a few feet, so it
won t be unwieldy, but still dramatic as it flows behind the bride. The colors available are solid

purchase the dress in sizes 2 through 18 plus. Many brides have reported that it s fairly true to

The Storming Stage Of Tuckman s Stages Of Group Development
Hynes Posted Date: September 24, 2017 7:12 PMStatus:Published
First and foremost, thank you for your service. Additionally, your discussion board post was very
educational. I would like to further examine the storming stage of Tuckman s Stages of Group
Development. Our textbook states the following about the storming phase of Tuckman s Stages of
Group Development, Individuals test the leader s policies and assumptions as they determine how
they fit into the power structure (Kinicki Fugate, 2016, p. 265). At this stage, it is imperative for
group leaders to maintain control of the group.
Group Leadership
During the storming phase is where the group members will experience conflict over process or
progress. It is the responsibility of group leaders to maintain a positive climate for the group to
flourish. When confrontation arises leadership should not shy away, and maintain a positive
environment, There is confrontation from the team leader and team members isolate themselves
from the activities of the team (Ryan, 2014, p. 52). Additionally, group leadership should be fair
and impartial as the team develops. Leaders, should weigh facts versus opinions. You may find
within a group dynamics that group leadership often sides with extraverts more than introverts.
Leaders should weigh argument over progress or process based on efficiency and not individual
linkings or relationships of group members. When there is and bias within group dynamics there is a

Birthright Citizenship In America
Birthright citizenship is when citizenship is automatically granted to children who are born in the
United States of America. Basically, all children born in the US receive automatic citizenship
regardless if their parents are born in the US or from other countries. I personally think that this
law could cause a lot of issues for the United Statesof America because America is a desirable
place for illegal immigrants and there are many borders which can be crossed illegally. The
birthright citizenship would only add more motivation for illegal immigrants to enter the country.
According to the website numbersusa.com, in 2010 there were 4.5 million US born children whose
parents were unauthorized(illegal) and 8 percent of all U.S

Increase The Toughness Of Steels After Quenching Process
Abstract:
Tempering is an important heat treating process, which is used to increase the toughness of steels
after quenching process. Hollomon Jaffe equation H=T(c+logвЃЎt ) is widely used to predict
hardness with different tempering temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature,
t is the tempering time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c
constant was not clear. In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensitefor AISI
4140 were measured by X Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals that the c/a
ratio decreases instantly within the first 60s tempering time. After analysis based on the experiment
results and derivation of Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is
found to stand for the slope of carbon hardness curve.
Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation
1. Introduction
All steels that are hardened are subjected to a subcritical heat treatment referred to as tempering .
Tempering improves the toughness of as quenched martensite (body center tetragonal) but lowers
strength and hardness 1, . The microstructure transformation is very complex: Stage1: The
formation of transition carbides and lowering of the carbon content of the martensite to 0.25% (100
to 250в„ѓ) Stage2: The transformation of retained austenite to ferrite and cementite (200 to 300в„ѓ)
Stage3: The replacement of transition carbides and low temperature

Bullet Proof Armor History
History
The first bullet proof armor was invented in 1897 by Korea and the Japan, it was made
of 30 layers of silk, which in that day could stop a black powder bullet it was nicknamed soft
armor. But then when firearms became more powerful it became useless. So a priest from
Chicago made it better by weaving 1.6mm steel plate between four layers of silk, he proved it
was bullet proof by having a man shoot at his chest from 10 paces (25 feet) away with a 44.
Caliber handgun, when it hit him he said he only felt a tap. So the inventor tried to make a life
off of his new vest. But sadly it never came true, because the military found that that the vest
was too hot to wear and was too expensive to make because of the amount of ... Show more content

(Caitlin, 2016)
The vest stops the force of the bullet from hitting you and going into you, it will disperse
the bullets energy across the entire Kevlar panel. If this didn t happen the bullet would hit you
and cause serious damage to the area you were shot in. So that is the reason they make the
entire vest in one piece, so it can take that force of energy from the bullet and make It spread
throughout the vest. (company, 2016)
How effective is it?
Kevlar is what soldiers use today, they can stop some handgun bullets. Such as a 9mm
which has a smaller amount of kinetic energy and a lower velocity, but with a higher caliber
handgun such as a .44 magnum, it has more weight to the bullet which means a larger amount
of kinetic energy and a higher velocity, so you would need up to 30 layers of Kevlar. (Allred,
2015)
How would I improve it?
The improvements I would make would be to make a material that was made of a
strong medal that stops bullets, then I would mix it with a flexible compound to make the

The Cider House Rules Directed By Lasse Hallstrom
Fallible humans are undoubtedly susceptible to forming erroneous judgements or premature
opinions, but it can always be fixed. The Cider House Rules directed by Lasse Hallström is a
film replete with controversial issues still relevant to today, such as abortion, substance abuse, and
morally questionable sexual affairs. I once thought I had critical thinking down perfectly, yet my
reactions to certain parts of the film proved otherwise. On the occasions which I stereotyped
characters, made hasty conclusions, and followed double standards, I recognized numerous
pitfalls within my own critical thinking. When I saw characters that I felt fit a specific category of
people, I often inadvertently stereotyped them to act or be a certain way. Dr. Larch, whom is in
charge of the deliveries and illegal abortions of babies in the orphanage, often abused ether to get
high. Combining the fact that he performed illegal medical procedures, I immediately stereotyped
him as unsympathetic, selfish, and neglectful drug abuser. Because I neglected the contingency of
unaddressed factors, such as experiencing cognitive dissonance or stressing over the demands of
his work, motivating him to behave the way he did, I felt as though my first impressions tend to be
a bit harsh and inconsiderate. Another instance in which I stereotyped was when Homer first
arrives at Wally Worthington s house and family orchard, and it portrays naked black men
showering outside. Without considering the time period and

Extreme Pacifist Negotiation
Extreme pacifism can sometimes be the wrong answer, especially in the face of an irrational
actor. In the start of WWII Hitler was given land in western Europe by Neville Chamberlin. This
was a prime example of appeasement as it gifted a potential enemy an object they initially
desired. Appeasement could be seen as a type of pacifism as it is actively avoiding conflict. Yet,
this would be a terrible example of pacifism and would not be an example to look towards in
operating future pacifist negotiations. Another example of ineffective pacifism would be the
neglect of Ethiopia during Mussolini s reign in Italy. The League of Nations at the time was a
budding product of the US working towards peace building and amnesty amongst other nations....

Everyone is different, this is a fact of life, social location greatly impacts people s views of the
world and can alter people s understandings of certain issues and concerns in the world. Social
location plays an amazingly important role in peaceful relations. In Kirk and Okizawa s essay
they described the importance of certain features of social location as, The classifications and
their specific features, mean ings, and significance are socially constructed through history,
politics, and culture. (Kirk and Okizawa 13). Much of social location is dependent on culture
and other items that can provide places of similarity and commonality to people. Culture impacts
a person s view on ideas because it is how one is raised. It shapes a person in every way, through
how they dress, what they understand to be true and what they believe. This impact on a person
can have immense implications on how they operate in everyday life. The person could be close
minded due to their education and what they were taught at a young age, or they might be open
minded and welcoming to everyone and every idea. The persons openness will determine how able
they are to communicate with other communities and groups. If they are unable to communicate
and convey their peaceful intentions than positive peace is not a true possibility. Positive peace

Guerilla Fights
Finding a safe way to attack an Insurgency without killing innocent civilians is a hard task to
complete. Civilians fight the war of the nation, at random times and places. This creates a
problem for conventional armies. Who is a civilian? Who is a foe? Two different strategies can
be utilized to fight this; take out the all the citizens, or get the people to go against their own
insurgents and encompass the conventional army s ideas. I believe that the only way to beat a
counterinsurgency campaign is to utilize less collateral damage of warfare, while teaching the
civilians to live for the counter ideal of restoring life to its normal state. This strategy will not kill
many innocent people, while securing the population, leading to a loss... Show more content on

Walzer states, The warcannot be won, because the only available strategy involves a war against
civilians; and it should not be won, because the degree of civilian support that rules out
alternative strategies also makes the guerrillas the legitimate rulers of the country... Fought by
foreigners, it is a war of aggression; if by a local regime alone, it is an act of tyranny. (Walzer
13). To win the war, the only option, according to Walzer, is to kill civilians. He doesn t believe
that this is the right was do win a war, so he goes on to say the war cannot be won, because of the
amount of civilian support. This leads me to believe that the only conventional way he sees of
winning is not by following the Rules of Engagement, but rather by winning the civilians over
through a strategic mental battle of who is right. Once the civilians are removed from the
battlefield, then the Rules of Engagement can be put into action against the remaining guerilla

executing them will require some serious energy and planning. Time is an essential component of
any restoration job. If you are going to try to completely rebuild a car, it can take around 1,000
hours to totally restore a vintage automobile. On top of this, you re going to need a ton of parts
which can be difficult to locate and will cost quite a bit of money. Then again, there are ways to
approach the tasks at hand without cleaning out your bank account. The following tips should help
you save money if you decide to take on the project of restoring a vintage automobile.

The best thing to do is to learn how to do the labour yourself. If you can handle doing most of the
work on the restoration, you will not only enjoy the pride of being able to say that you did the
work yourself, but you will also know how to maintain your vintage vehicle and will save a
boatload of money.
Find a Top Quality Parts Warehouse
Because not all of the parts that you will need for your restoration will be available through a
junkyard, it is a good idea to find a top quality parts warehouse to buy parts through. JC Whitney is
one of the best American parts warehouses to buy through if you are restoring an antique American
automobile. If you are restoring a vintage British automobile, then you might want to consider using
McLeod s British Cars. Both of these companies have been in business for more than 40 years and
are experts at locating hard to find auto parts.
Join a local Vintage Car Club
Besides finding a great parts warehouse to deal with, it is a good idea to to join a local vintage

  • 2. Is Willy A Good Father Throughout a child s life, especially in the lives young boys, their father is one of the most important figures in their lives. They learn how to act, how to respect others and other lessons that are useful for the rest of their lives. Young boys look up to their fathers throughout their childhood. In Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman is not the number one dad in the country and sets a bad example for his children, even though he had good intentions. Along with his inability to admit his own faults, he teaches his sons the wrong lessons in life. Willy s immense pride and his lack of honesty cause him to become a lousy father. Being unable to accept his mistakes, he makes it seem as though he has lived the perfect life and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Willy wanted his sons to pursue the American dream and become successful by working on the road and being well liked. When both of them try to find their own dreams are, Willy becomes frustrated and disappointed in them. Their two different dreams collide and cause friction in their father son relationship. Willy takes too much interest in his sons futures to have a healthy relationship with them. Whenever his children may seem to fail him, he overlooks any mistakes they are making. This occurs often, especially with Biff. Along with Willy ignoring Biff s bad habit of stealing, he also ignores the fact that Biff is doing terribly in school when Bernard comes to warn him. Willy chooses to hear the things he wants to hear about his sons because he wants them to become successful and follow his version of the American dream. Willy s interest or forcefulness in the futures of his sons imposes a tension between them because Willy essentially proves that Biff and Happy will only be successful if they follow Willy s footsteps. Being too involved in your child s life damages their ability to have their own dreams and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Metropolitan Museum Of Art Exhibition Report Exhibition Critique Essay II Larah Davenport ART 200 (Corbin) October 29, 2015 For this project I visited multiple online museums, but decided on The Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Three pieces of artwork that I found to be interesting to me and that caught my eye are The Harvesters by Pieter Bruegel the Elder found at http://www.metmuseum.org, Open Window, Collioure by Henri Matisse found at http:/ /www.nga.gov, and Christ Washing the Feet of His Disciples by Nicolas Bertin found at http:/ /www.artic.edu. There are a lot of pieces of art to choose from in each museum, so I had to figure out a way to narrow it down to three. While browsing through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bertin tended to paint pictures of subject who are religious, mythological, and allegorical. This painting in particular portrays Christ washing Saint Peter s feet right after the Last Supper. There is a strong focal point in this painting and it is the man standing in the red robe with his hand on his chest. There is also a lot of activity in this painting as well because there is Christ to the left washing the feet surrounded by his disciples, the women in the background at the table, and the man to the right fixing his shoe. Bertin used a lot of facial expressions for each of the people in this painting from puzzled to humiliation. The size of this oil on panel painting is 1 ft 7.5 inches by 2 ft 4.75 ... • 4. The Killings And Destruction Of Cultures Throughout The... History is told in many different ways, and the truth that lies in the stories told, can sometimes be blurred by different perspectives. Comparing four cases of genocide which formed in the United States, Australia, British India and German Southwest Africa, allows for a better comprehension of genocide as defined by the UN Convention. The four cases raise question as to why we can consider the cases to be genocide, and what similarities and differences each case has. Considering the UN definition , I acknowledge all but the British Indian case to be genocide. There are multiple similarities between the mass killings and destruction of cultures in the US, Australia, and German Southwest Africa, which align with the classification of genocide, but in the case of British India, it doesn t align. Using The Historiography of Genocide by Dan Stone, Victoria s Ghost by Mike Davis, To Kill A People by John Cox and Genocide by Adam Jones, I will articulate arguments about the genocides found in each case. In the year 1608, pilgrims arrived to Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts where Indians fed them and showed them hospitality. In return, the colonists brought Indians small poxes, among other diseases, which would decimate the Indian community. The plague of diseases caused a decrease in Indian population, from roughly 7 million to 237,000, and allowed for the settlers to expand. Although the spread of disease was not the settlers intent, it is arguably a factor in the success of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Children Should Be Taught In Public Schools An undeniable fact in our life is that some children are more intelligent or capable than their peers. However, whether these children should be taught separately has long been a topic of debate. If students with different abilities are put in the same class the first benefit is that they can learn from each other and draw on other people s strengths. A mathematical genius may be poor in arts or sports and this is what he can improve by interacting with his classmates. Also why we object to separate teaching is that teachers tend to pay more attention to those with better academic results which may give students in the slow class a sense of discrimination. However, some people believe that children should be put in different classes according to their abilities. This mode enables students particularly those intelligent ones to fully develop their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also seems to be a reasonable arrangement for those ordinary students who would feel less stressed . With students of similar abilities in one class it would be easier for schools to make their teaching plans and control the progress. From my point of view,to promote an all around development it is better to have students study together regardless of their abilities and talents. However this is not against individualized teaching and learning in our schools. In addition to standardized teaching plans some extracurricular programs can be designed for students with particular talents in some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Causes Of The Japanese Internment Of WWII The Japanese internment of WWII was one of the biggest cases of racial prejudice America has ever committed. During a time when Italian and German Americans were a much bigger threat to our nation s security, we deliberately alienated Japanese citizens in our society. Not only did we restrict the freedoms of American born citizens for three years, but we have also caused long term, irreparable damage to the Japanese people, and their society. While internment may have decreased the odds of Japanese spies in our military and mob violence it is no excuse for the atrocity we put our own citizens through. American citizens, who are granted the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happyness, were robbed of these very rights our country was founded on. Internment camps were often in the middle of nowhere, and in very disatifactory condition for all residing in them. After internment many people, since they could not pay their mortgage loans, lost their homes and life savings causing widespread poverty. These and many other factors are why internment during WWII was unjust and motivated by racial prejudice, not national security. While Japanese internment may have isolated a small amount of Japanese spies, it was unjustified considering that the majority of people interned where innocent. According to government officials at the time, Japanese American citizens posed no threat to the West coast. Curtis B Munson said in the Muson Report that, There is no Japanese problem ... • 7. Nebraska State Budget Assignment 4.2 Abstract The State of Nebraska has a biennium budget that is set from 2013 all the way to 2015. Knowing what is in your budget and how to properly gauge what will be needed for the coming two years in each department is an important aspect to a successful budget. The person in charge of the budget for each department needs to know how to properly budget and respond to the needs of the state in the most fiscal way possible. A budget is only as good as the person who is running it. The Nebraska State budget is complex, but with the right amount of team work and dedication, it seems to run very smoothly. It gives a broad overview of the total estimated costs of all the areas that are being run in the state. The appropriations that are shown in the 2012 13 current fiscal year are those adopted by 2011 regular session and were further broken down during the 2011 special session of the 102nd legislature. The Governor s budget recommendations for FY 2013 14 expect a general fund increase by four point nine percent over the two year period. By doing this the Governor is exceeding the minimum reserve requirement of fourteen point eight million for the next biennium. This type of foreshadowing is what is helping Nebraska to look at the overall big picture and to try and stay within the state allowable budget as closely as possible. The planning even estimates all the way into the 2015 17 biennium that would set the future growth at five percent and also leave a General Fund balance in excess of the minimum reserve requirement (Heineman, 2013). Revenue Generation, Expenditures, and Services The State of Nebraska does a good job of showing what the state s budget is being spent on and to which programs the money for the state is going. When looking at the state s budget there are several items that have been considered for the biennium. The State of Nebraska sets its recommendations by each functional area that are broken down into general government, agriculture, environment and natural resources, economic development, human resources development, ... • 8. Nike Case Study In 1964, college track athlete Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman started Blue Ribbon Sports, a distribution company for what are known today as Asics shoes. In 1971, Blue Ribbon Sports began designing and selling their own shoes and changed their name to Nike. Nike is no stranger to bad press and highlighted in a 2014 Business Insider article written by Lara O Reilly, she mentions a few of the bold moves they made over the years that have garnered attention, starting with the change of their name. Another controversial move they made was with their slogan, Just Do It , which was admittedly inspired by the last words of a serial killer right before his execution. Furthermore, they also endorsed their first professional athlete who was nicknamed the Bucharest Buffoon because of his scandalous reputation. Phil Knight has been quoted as saying, It doesn t matter how many people you offend, as long as you re getting your message to your consumers... • 9. Media Propaganda Media propaganda Propaganda is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda, in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus possibly lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda. Propaganda can be used as a form of political warfare. The Creel Commission provided themes for speeches by four minute men at public functions, and also encouraged censorship of the American press. The Commission was so unpopular that after the war, Congress closed it down without providing funding to organize and archive its papers. The war propaganda campaign of Lippmann and Bernays produced within six months such an intense anti German hysteria as to permanently impress American business (and Adolf Hitler, among others) with the potential of large scale propaganda to control public opinion. Bernays coined the terms group mind and engineering consent , important concepts in practical propaganda work. The file Century of the Self by Adam Curtis documents the immense influence of these ideas on public relations and politics throughout the last century. The current public relations industry is a direct outgrowth of Lippmann s and Bernays work and is still used extensively by the United States government. For the first half of the 20th century Bernays and Lippmann themselves ran a very successful public relations firm. Araby Historical Context Milestone Project I Part II: Sources and Historical Context When it comes to the theories of Feminist Criticism and Psychoanalytical Criticism an interesting aspect can be found, that at times they often dispute or ignore one another, though they often coincide. Another aspect that follows along with this is that the often intertwine with each other. Having both these topics to analyze the work Araby by James Joyce coincide as well with the story s on analyzed historical context, and how the narrator s actions. Feminism Criticism was stated to be used to find women s writing involvement in history, recovering this writing, displacement of these writings, and whether women s tradition is being established in the text (Wolosky 1). Currently, the oil provides jobs for about 514,000 people across Canada, and in 2028 this is expected to grow to over 800,000 jobs1. In Canada, almost every community has been touched by the oil sands development through the impact it has on economic growth and job creation, according to the Canadian Energy Research Institute (CERI)2. Most of the men that were already there needed to be there because of an actual insanity problem, but McMurphy was there because he would rather have been there than where he was before and the court had allowed him to be transferred. McMurphy took them completely by surprise with his resistance to follow their instructions and to do what he was expected to do. At his arrival, he immediately exhibited disobedience. The Manufacture Of Teen Space On Cruise Ships The Manufacture of Teen Space on Cruise Ships: An Environment of Autonomous, Aspirational Consumption Cruise ships are cathedrals of consumption in which consumer activity is controlled and encouraged by the enchanting environment constructed (Ritzer, 7). Through an atmosphere of spectacle and grandiosity cruise ships entice spending from passengers. This effect continues throughout all areas of the ship, including space specifically designed for young travelers. Capitalism s construction of the child as a consumer is reified in these isolated and purified kids only areas. By creating age specific kidspaces , cruise ship companies effectively encourage the Kids Getting Older Younger (KGOY) phenomenon and the growing anti adultism mentality, by granting tweens and teens an effective faГ§ade of independence that allows them to enact their power of consumer choice. Spaces geared for ages 12 17 will be explored on three major cruise lines; Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean, in order to better understand the effects of these environments on young consumers. The universal image of the dolphin portrays the illusion that dolphins are always happy because they consistently appear to be smiling. This, however, is nature s greatest deception as it is simply the shape of their mouth. Throughout the film the juxtaposition of the beauty of nature is harshly contrasted with the ugliness of the underlying secrets of the industry in Japan and around the world. The fishing industry is largest in Japan therefore that is where this movie was filmed. The captive industry has become a lucrative billion dollar worldwide trade, with all money made from the exploitation, imprisonment and lifelong suffering of these living beings. A live dolphin captured for a marine mammal park can be valued up to $200,000. The most shocking fact is that this is legal. The International Whaling Commission outlawed commercial whaling in 1986, but dolphin hunts remain legal. The film s impact was largely due to the emotional ties between O Barry and dolphins. Since the appearance of anatomically modern human beings, some one hundred and fifty thousand years ago, the emergence of civilization has been one of the most important accomplishments of people. Civilization is defined as an organizing principle that implies common institutions, economic systems, social structures, and values that extend over space and time (Matthews 3). Some of the things that make up a civilization are religion, government, arts, writing and language, currency, study of science, math and medicine as examples. The two earliest known civilizations were Mesopotamia and Egypt. These two civilizations arose around the same time and coincidentally near one another, near the Mediterranean Sea. Many similarities and differences exist between these ancient civilizations. In particular, the religions of these two civilizations are distinguishably different, yet have many concrete similarities as well. The religions of Mesopotamia and Egypt are the products of the environment that the people lived in and their experiences living in it. Because of the harsh and unpredictable nature of their environment, the religion of the ancient people in Mesopotamia was very pessimistic. They lived only at the mercy of their gods, who they believed were of great power and controlled the environment. In ancient Egypt, contrastingly, nature was far more stable and predictable. The 6LoWPAN protocol is designed for low power radio transmitter that have to operate over lossy channels. 6LoWPAN implements header compression to reduce the overhead needed to send an individual data packet. It is able to accomplish this by removing redundant header fields and using a compressed version of the routing address. To accommodate for the limited packet sizes, fragmentation and reassembly is required to transmit large packets. [2]The unique constraints of IoT networks also require a specialized network routing protocol. Currently the leading candidate is the RPL protocol. Typically, all sensor nodes in an IoT network are connected the root node via a multi hop path. The root node often serves as the data /network coordinator as well as a gateway to the Internet. For each root node a Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph is used to optimize the path from any node back to the root node. This Graph is created by calculating shortest path to the root node that adheres to specific set of constraints. Some of these constraints might include: minimizing the number of hops, only using encrypted links, avoiding battery operated devices, etc. Once, the graph is created data can be forwarded along the graph to the root node [4].The CoAP protocol operates at the application layer and is similar to HTTP, but with ... As outlined in Fig. 2, dystrophin mutations lead to myocyte fragility and membrane damages with repeated contractions, resulting in increased cell permeability. The precise mechanism by which prednisone increases muscle strength in DMD patients is unknown, but hypothesises have been made based on its modulatory effects in the myocyte inflammation, degeneration and regeneration pathways following damage. As illustrated in Fig. 3, under healthy physiology condition, myocyte damage stimulates signaling pathways that promotes both degeneration and regeneration of the damaged tissue to promote healing. The extend of muscle healing is dependent on the balance between the two processes. As outlined in Fig. 4, initial myocyte damage activates inflammatory cells such as neutrophils and macrophages to inflict further necrosis through the release of free radicals and proteases. The damaged myocytes are then removed via phagocytosis to provide space for healthy tissue regeneration. The regeneration process is initiated through the activation of myocyte precursor cells called satellite cells to differentiate and fuse at the site of damage. However the proliferating abilities of satellite cells are reduced in DMD patients due to the absence of dystrophin proteins, resulting in impaired muscle regeneration capacities. Hippolyta responds in kind, commenting, And then the moon, like to a silver bow / New bent in heaven, shall behold the night / Of our solemnities (1.1.7, 14). Not only does the bride speak of the moon as a measurement (for when it becomes a silver bow, or crescent, they wed), but she also speaks of the night when the moon wanes as a time of festive marriage ceremonies. It is important to take into account the character of Hippolyta in this instance. Having Theseus wed Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, takes away Hippolyta s power as a strong female. She, too, is counting the nights by the waning of the moon until she is legitimately wed and under the control of a husband. Playing basketball as a Kentucky Wesleyan Panther, made me want to do research about one of the many species of panthers. These species are going through endangerment and will probably be extinct in the near future. They were listed in the Endangered Act in 1967, so one positive is they have held on for some years now. Activists and government officials in Florida have been effective in securing some funding for panther recovery; Activists have been especially critical of the Florida panther license plate program, which funds the Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund. Launched in nineteen ninety, the license plate has generated significant funding for Florida panthers: License plate sales raised $2.66 million in nineteen ninety eight to nineteen ninety nine and $2.49 million in nineteen ninety nine to two thousand. According to state statute, the Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund should be used to increase panther food sources, determine conflicts between public use and panther survival, maintain genetic variability, and support management and enforcement activities that protect panther habitat, in addition to educating the public about panthers and their conservation and working towards reestablishing panthers. A particularly infamous and widely known heavy metal is lead. Lead has been a particular useful element in early human history. Most people would shudder at the thought of drinking water from lead pipes with all the hysteria associated with lead; however, lead pipes or more commonly lead solder are still around today though mainly in outdated water lines that have been grandfathered. Absorption of lead into water has been found proportional to the temperature of the water. Unsurprisingly, the warmer the water, the higher the lead concentration; however, the change in lead concentration compared to the temperature shift is quite surprising. However, in my essay I will be attempting to answer the question of has feminism influenced music, particularly in the last 30 years. The near infinite variation of feminism expressed in a range of different types of music genres has led to many interesting and empowering assortments of music being established. One such genre is punk music, which is the most popular genre to be combined with feminism, to create hard hitting and powerful bands, which were most commonly formed, in particular, in the 1970s and 1990s. I will be investigating in this essay, in particular, questions such as what has been the most significant impact of feminism and music, and how this began to get popular, to help me answer the ultimate question of has feminism influenced music in the last 30 years? , and I will be exploring both sides of the argument and explaining both arguments for and against in detail. Has feminism influenced music? One argument that suggests feminism hasn t influenced music in the past 30 years is that recent artists are still protesting against gender inequality. Our textbook states the following about the storming phase of Tuckman s Stages of Group Development, Individuals test the leader s policies and assumptions as they determine how they fit into the power structure (Kinicki Fugate, 2016, p. 265). At this stage, it is imperative for group leaders to maintain control of the group. Group Leadership During the storming phase is where the group members will experience conflict over process or progress. It is the responsibility of group leaders to maintain a positive climate for the group to flourish. When confrontation arises leadership should not shy away, and maintain a positive environment, There is confrontation from the team leader and team members isolate themselves from the activities of the team (Ryan, 2014, p. 52). Additionally, group leadership should be fair and impartial as the team develops. Leaders, should weigh facts versus opinions. • 46. Increase The Toughness Of Steels After Quenching Process Abstract: Tempering is an important heat treating process, which is used to increase the toughness of steels after quenching process. Hollomon Jaffe equation H=T(c+logвЃЎt ) is widely used to predict hardness with different tempering temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature, t is the tempering time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c constant was not clear. In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensitefor AISI 4140 were measured by X Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals that the c/a ratio decreases instantly within the first 60s tempering time. After analysis based on the experiment results and derivation of Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is found to stand for the slope of carbon hardness curve. Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation 1. Introduction All steels that are hardened are subjected to a subcritical heat treatment referred to as tempering . So that is the reason they make the entire vest in one piece, so it can take that force of energy from the bullet and make It spread throughout the vest. (company, 2016) How effective is it? Kevlar is what soldiers use today, they can stop some handgun bullets. I once thought I had critical thinking down perfectly, yet my reactions to certain parts of the film proved otherwise. On the occasions which I stereotyped characters, made hasty conclusions, and followed double standards, I recognized numerous pitfalls within my own critical thinking. When I saw characters that I felt fit a specific category of people, I often inadvertently stereotyped them to act or be a certain way. Dr. Larch, whom is in charge of the deliveries and illegal abortions of babies in the orphanage, often abused ether to get high. Combining the fact that he performed illegal medical procedures, I immediately stereotyped him as unsympathetic, selfish, and neglectful drug abuser. Because I neglected the contingency of unaddressed factors, such as experiencing cognitive dissonance or stressing over the demands of his work, motivating him to behave the way he did, I felt as though my first impressions tend to be a bit harsh and inconsiderate.
