When reading Anzaldua s essay, I could not help thinking how ridiculous it is for someone to be
prejudged based solely on the language they speak. She states If a person, Chicana or Latina, has

The Canadian novel Crow Lake by Mary Lawson, published in 2002, was awarded in Canada as
First Novel Award in the same year it was published and won the McKitterick Prize in 2003. The
author Mary Lawson was born and brought up in a small farming community in southern Ontario.
After graduating from McGill University, she moved to England in 1968. She still lives there with
her husband and sons, though she returns to Canada every year. The story took place in a small
town called Crow lake in northern Ontario. In this book Kate Morrison, the main character, leads
the reader through her journey for healing from past mistakes dealing with her family. At the
beginning, Kate who is seven, and her siblings Luke, Matt, and Bo, experienced a tough time
surviving after their parents were killed in a car crash, which impacted them for the rest of their
lives. Setting
The setting of the novel starts in Northern Ontario. This is important to the author, Mary Lawson,
because the elegance of the countryside inspired her to set her novel setting there. When Katie
Morrison grows up, the setting change to Toronto because she wanted to become a zoologist. One
of the things that led to the significance of setting to the plot is the ponds, because they were full

Mass Density Of An Unknown Metal Essay
The goal of this experiment was to determine the mass density of an unknown metal. Five
different vernier capillaries and double pan balances were used to measure the metal. The plan
of action was to find the average density to reduce random error, in addition to, calculating the
standard error to observe the reliability of proposed average. Ideally, the metal would identify
more comparably with gold or aluminum. The concepts of mass density, standard error, average,
one dimensional statistics, precision / accuracy, and test of accuracy were explored. A hollow
cylinder of metal was given to each lab group. Initially, the mass of the metal was determined
with a double pan balance. The metal was placed on the balance and the instrument s notch and
slider was used to interpret the mass. The next step was determining the inner radius, outer radius
and height of the cylinder to find the volume. A vernier caliper was used to measure those
components. The vernier caliper included an inner and outer jaw that measures length. The results
of the double pan balance and vernier caliper was recorded in a data sheet, and the procedure was
repeated five times with different instruments. The data was placed in an excel file where the mass
density, average, standard error, test of accuracy, and general comparison with the two proposed

Since the Razzo screening of this week consists of multiple movies. I would like to divide my
response into two parts. The first part focuses on the key qualities that make Let There Be Light
such an iconic documentary and also the source of its supression by the government. The second
part focuses on the experimental films: Meshes of the Afternoon, Fireworks, and Rose Hobart.
Let There Be Light stood out in the documentary genre firstly because of its reliance on unscripted
interviews. It is mentioned in the article that some thousand hours was spent on footage that would
meaningfully make up a 1 hour documentary. All of the interviews are exemplary of showing the
narrative the documentary was trying to convey: how war affected the soldier ... Show more content
Meshes of the Afternoon is the most visually appealing one. Mentioned in the article, the film
has a sort of rhythm that is symbolic in most of Deren s movies. It deals a lot with identities and
identifications, like the scene of multiple instances of the protagonist, or the scene with the
hooded man with a reflective face. Here, I interpreted the scene as that there were a lot of side to
the protagonist and the mirror is to reflect into self, which later on in the movie we can see that in
the reflection is the husband. Also dreamlike in narrative is Fireworks, which was basically
considered to be within the post war avant garde genre in the article. This short, primarily a
comedy, has a lot of sexual inuendos embeded into the visual coding. It portrays that the protagonist
is in search for fullfilment and sexual satisfaction within the depths of his conscience. The article
mentioned about the not so subtle imagery and symbolism in the film , with the aforementioned
pyrotechnic phallus, the river of milk standing in for semen . The third short is a montage, which
is a brilliant one with concentrated but dreamlike and open to interpretion narrative, with all the
footage from East of Borneo. Surrealism is achieved once the narrative of the East of Borneo, with
all of its drama, is stripped off to become something more mysterious and less revealing. And with
