Convert WRDS OUTPUT Building a Financial Statement Analysis and Valuation Spreadsheet
Income Statement 66
This case starts with raw financial statements and then a) develops standardized financial statements,
b) constructs a statement of cash flows, c) builds all the key ratios, d) links forecast inputs to future
financial statements, and e) builds discounted cash flow and residual income valuation models based
on the forecasts. The result is a simplified version of eVal4, the spreadsheet model that is provided
with Equity Valuation and Analysis by Russell Lundholm and Richard Sloan, but one that you should
completely understand (because you built it yourself!). To save you some time, many of the cells are
completed; you only need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your task is to figure out these future financial statement values and create links from the Forecasting
sheet to the Financial Statements sheet.
3) You will note that the ratios on the Forecasting sheet are defined in terms of ending balance sheet
amounts, whereas the ratios on the Ratio Analysis sheet are defined in terms of average balance sheet
amounts. To see why this it, construct a temporary line on the Forecasting sheet to input the ratio of
Sales to Average Receivables and then compute the resulting ending Receivables forecasts. To
illustrate this point, input 15% as the ratio of Ending Receivables to Sales and then add a temporary
line where the Average Receivables to Sales is 15%. For each, compute the implied ending balance of
Receivables each year, and then plot the two resulting series. Notice anything funny about the implied
balance when the average receivables are used as the basis for forecasting?
Part E: Valuation
1) Compute the value of General Mills as of July 1, 2008 using the discounted cash flow model. Do so
by linking to the statement of cash flow data, or directly to the financial statement data. Set the cost of
equity capital, debt capital and the weighted average cost of capital at 10%, 8% and 8.96%,
respectively, as given on the spreadsheet.
2) Compute the value of General Mills as July 1, 2008 using the residual income model. Do so by

The Night of Fire
The Night (Fire engine, boys, rain)
April 24th, 2012; the sound of the news on the television hums in the background drowned out by
people talking and laughing. Fire Station 141 is buzzing with life; everything is in calm and peaceful;
when suddenly a loud screaming sound rings through the brick walls. All of the men in the station
startle to attention and rush around in organized chaos. The shuffling of boots on the smooth concrete
floors and ruffling of thick fire suits is drowned out by the resounding alarm. The men pile into the
large red trucks and screech out of the station. The alarm becomes silent and the station is abandoned
and the only sound it the news humming in the background. The men hardly fit in the small quarters
of the truck. The smell of burnt rubber and gasoline fill the cramped space. The sirens atop the thick
metal roof of the truck bounce back and forth on houses and cars nearby. Dark clouds start to form
above the speeding truck and soon the rain is playing a soft beat on the roof. The cold weather creates
a pale fog against the window. Everything starts to slow down and become faded, the dark night
outside the window now is everywhere and a group of boys are playing baseball. The ball is a dirty
cream color and is throwing off water as it spins through the air, then smack it hits a leather glove with
an explosion of water up into a young boy s smiling face. There is a newspaper on the ground that is
soaked but the date says April 24th, 1986.

The Realpolitik Foreign Policy Of Otto Von Bismarck
The realpolitik foreign policy of Otto Von Bismarck contained many similarities as well as differences
when compared and contrasted to the weltpolitik foreign policy of his successor Kaiser Wilhelm II. In
1890, Wilhelm II forced Bismarck s resignation and ascended the German throne, leading Germany
into a militaristic path, failing to maintain Germany s allies, and plunging it into one of the most
famous wars of history, World War I. Bismarck was originally an expansionist who aimed to make
Prussia a powerful part of Germany, however, by 1870, he gave up his expansionist ideas and became
content with the land that Germany already had power over. Bismarck s cautious foreign policy
favored peace over war, creating treaties and maintaining Germany s land rather than expanding
Germany by embarking in war. He sought to maintain good relations with France and Russia and kept
France isolated. Furthermore, his policy secured peace within the five major powers of Europe by
creating alliances. The Bismarckian system created allies between the other powers of Europe, secured
Germany s land, and avoided conflicts with France and Russia.
Although a few similarities can be found between Wilhelm and Bismarck s foreign policies, the
policies had major differences in their approaches and styles of execution. Wilhelm s policy posed
more of an aggressive approach and made Germany a threat to other countries as well as involved it
into conflicts. He wanted to increase Germany s prestige as a

Relationship In Roland Barthes s The Death Of The Author
Roland Barthes establishes through his theory The Death of the Author that although it seems practical
to unite author and reader, implementing authors personalities on a text limits readers understanding
of topics. He suggests disrupting this reliance so independent thinking will not be swayed by a fixation
on the author s experiences. However, a reader s comprehension can be aided through a present author
if prior knowledge is absent. Barthes stress on the importance of interrupting the author reader
relationship is verified through Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and the dependence on her identity to
make sense of existing topics of anxiety and repression. Barthes argues that relying on authors
identities to uncover meaning is a limiting explanation for a text. He suggests abandoning
romanticizing writers personalities to disrupt the idea that authors confide in readers by using
characters as vehicles for personal meaning (Barthes 84). Instead, words are separate from the
intentions of the author and act as agents of information in themselves as the action of writing knows a
subject, not a person. Barthes claims a disaffiliation between author and reader should be enforced to
free the text of an author s interpretations so the reader can make personal connections. When a writer
is through with a text, they are disassociated from it. They are only necessary to replicate pre existing
cultural ideas using linguistics that preform, not record. It is these stories

Dramatic Elements In Aunt Raini
In this theatrical production Aunt Raini, directed by the playwright Tom Smith and produced by
Pacific Lutheran University, has successfully perform theatrical elements within different perspective
of the performance, while the performance has connected and integrated the content based from the
script stories. For instance, from a stage production perspective, the constructing style of the scenes,
walls, flats or hand props and the accurate placement of stage properties on stage has specified the
background story setting while different style of composing, designing and painting of the scenery
represent the amount of efforts and works that whole crew had put in during the process of theater
production.
The story of the theatrical performance Aunt Raini was inspired by Leni Riefenstahl, a world
renowned filmmaker who creates the documentary Triumph of the Will of the Reich Party Congress
1934 in Nuremberg. Sadly, most of Riefenstahl s works after this documentary are reference as pieces
of propaganda for the Nazi Party, which led to her to be misunderstood and isolated within the art and
film communities throughout her lifetime. In this performance, Leni Riefenstahl, also reference as the
protagonist character of Aunt Raini , has come to New York City to visit her grandniece Katherine. On
the other hand, Katherine, known as The Great Revealer for her ability to find the best up and coming
artists on the Time magazine, is a successful art gallery owner. Meanwhile, One of

The Seven Army Values
There are seven Army Values that all human beings should believe in. There are three values I see as
strengths, and as areas to improve in my personal life. Those values are Respect, Selfless Service, and
Honor. I will be writing about all three in this essay.
The first Army Value I see as a strength is Respect. I chose the Army Value respect because that s
something I would want someone to give me. In my eyes, when you first met someone, your first
impression or their first impression determines if you ve gained their respect or if they have gained
yours. Respect is my strength because even though I might not respect you as a person, I honestly can
say that I respect the things you do or how you get things accomplished and etc.

Psychological Treatment Methods
Question #1
DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) could be defined as a document that
provides a common language and standard criteria for the classification of mental disorders (Stangor,
2010). On the other hand, Anxiety disorder (generalized) is a psychological disturbance marked by
irrational fears, often of common objects. Mood disorder is affective in nature, wherein one s mood
affects their processes at various levels, such as congnition, social and physical. Last, post traumatic
stress disorder is a psychological disorder usually resulting from trauma and intense shock and
characterized by hyper anxiety and re experiencing of the trauma coupled with a compulsive longing

Question #3
I don not thing that SDHD diagnoses in children is a problem. I do thing that the cause of this rise in
ADHD diagnosis is the psychological, social and perpetually dynamic condition of the world today.
The world system is rapidly and constantly transforming, filled with anxiety and nervousness and
many times with insanity too. Yes, this of course gives rise to the predisposition of related
psychological disorders, including ADHD. ADHD diagnoses are not high in children only, but in
adults and adolescents too.
Again, using prescription medication, there is no problem either. Actually, some of the issues that
causes of ADHD in children are chemo genic, such as consumption of lead and food additives or
mother s smoking during pregnancy. In fact, prescription medications, such as Ritalin stimulant, have
proved to be effective. Alternative treatments exist and could include psychological treatments, like

Great Marking Essay
How you mark your business sets the tone for all that you do a while later: How you publicize, how
you handle your clients... indeed, even the presence of your business and its items. That is on the
grounds that your image is the identity and character of your association and everything mirrors that
personality... your logo, you re publicizing, your storefront. Think Mac PCs: at whatever time you
stroll into an Apple store, the office, its workers, the window shows... everything says we re cool, we
re inventive, we re on the front line. Go to any Wafer Barrel eatery and everything says we re friendly,
we re nation, and we serve corn meal. This permits the client to associate on an individual level. The
purpose of marking is to offer clients an unmistakable decision. In the event that you detest nation
home cooking you avoid Wafer Barrel. On the off chance that you adore browned catfish you know
you re in the ideal spot. Great marking doesn t attempt to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Unorthodox Restoration Of A Tarnished Image
I. Introduction
The Unorthodox Restoration of a Tarnished Image is an interesting topic when dealing with
professional athletes. Lebron James is currently in his 14th season in the National Basketball
Association (NBA). He spent his first seven seasons playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, just 39 miles
from his hometown, Akron. After the 2009 2010 NBA season, James decided not to resign his contract
with the Cleveland Cavaliers and instead sign a contract with the Miami Heat. This decision led to
James joining forces with other NBA superstars such as Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and Ray Allen.
Later to become known as The Decision, James image was tarnished for the way he abandoned his
hometown team and became the villain of the NBA. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The paths that these athletes took were both similar and different from James .
The thesis will take an in depth look on the journey of Lebron James. From the beginning days in
Akron, the fame of his early days in Cleveland, to his villain days in Miami and back up the mountain
to being a hero in Cleveland, it will all be discussed. Lebron James is not only a once in a life time
type of athlete, but once in a life time person and businessman as well. The tactics and lessons one can
learn from his strategies are infinite.
II. Beginning of the Brand The story of Lebron is known by many, but those who see the famous
professional athlete with a superstar status usually do not know what he came from. On December 30,
1984, in Akron, Ohio, Lebron Raymone James was born. His mother, Gloria James, was only 16 years
old at the time and his father, Anthony McClelland, was an ex convict with zero interest in becoming a
parent. With Gloria struggling from addiction and never keeping a steady job, she and Lebron moved
from apartment to apartment during his childhood. In the fourth grade, Lebron moved in with his
township football coach, Frankie Walker (JockBio, 2016). Life was not easy for James growing up,
but he was lucky enough to have others surrounding him to help him rise. He played basketball at
Saint Vincent Saint Mary s High School where he would become a legend. A few of his high school
accolades include USA Today

Livia Druilla Analysis
The choice to study Livia Drusilla in depth was an easy decision. One of a few women to gain any sort
of power in ancient Rome let alone the status that Livia ended up having near the end of her time.
Livia herself is very controversial and is often depicted in one of two ways in most available sources.
The first is that she was a very manipulative woman, that her caring housewife appearance and
manner was all a façade and that she was responsible for the deaths surrounding the heirs to the throne
paving the way for her son Tiberius to become emperor. The second depiction is that of a truly caring
wife, of an individual that did her best to support her husband and family, who grieved over their
deaths and who could not possibly have committed

Black Lung
The black lung movement was a movement formed in the late 1960 s in which the miners fought for
the health benefits to cover black lung disease. Black lung is directly caused by mining and working
with coal. Mildred Mullins wrote this poem and hung it on the coffin of her dead husband in the
Capital to display what was going on, Compensation we are asking, While alive and still gasping;
When life is o er and hymns are sung, Then they ll know we have black lung.( Charleston Gazette 15)
The miners felt that since their job caused this disease that they should be compensated for it. The coal
companies felt that mining did not cause this lung disease and that the miners were just making it up.

Blasting itself produced immense quantities of mineral particles. The common practice of returning to
the work face soon after the detonation of charges meant entering an area filled with particulate
matter. (Derickson 3) Also, as labors transported, unloaded, and cleaned the extracted material dust
was inhaled even though they were away from the mine. So no matter what technique used the coal
dust still made it in the air and into the miners lungs. There were no safety regulations in place about
how long to wait after blowing up coal, no regulations about how many particulates in the air were
safe, no mask or safety precautions and no mandatory venting. Although some of these things were
easily usable to the safety the company felt it was too costly. An elaborate system of fans and blowers
was too costly , so the miner had to pay for the bad ventilating by miners asthma and other ailments
caused by bad air. (Derickson 4) Basically the coal operators did not care enough about the miners
safety to provide vents and things that could have helped the air quality. Once black lung was
discovered the movement began. Three studies done by the U.S. Public Health Service between 1924
and 1945 failed to bring recognition of black lung as a problematic condition. American medical
opinion was that miner s asthma reflected a normal condition of mine work and actually posed no
serious problems. Some doctors even went so far as to claim that coal

Character Changes In Romeo And Juliet
In this essay I will characterize Romeo and how he changed over the play and the film Baz Luhrman
directed.
Romeo in the film is always compared to blue or Water. I think the director decided to associate
Romeo to blue to show the audience that he is a calm and trusting person. For example he is always
wearing a blue shirt. He is also associated to water, I think the director decided to do this because
water is neutral, no one owns the water. So when he is with Juliet he isn t the Montague , he is only a
boy. This because water is clean and washes away his name. In the balcony scene when Romeo and
Juliet fall in the water is like both their names were cleaned off and they could be children again. The
film shows us their child innocence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he goes there he is clumsy and tripping over everything. He risks his life to see her, which is not
practical, not only for him, who is risking being caught and being sentenced to death penalty, but also
her, Juliet, which if caught is going to be in trouble with her family. In the Elizabethan times, wealth
family girls being caught disoubeying their parents would be sent to a nuns house, where they were
not allowed to see men. The clumsiness when he enters Juliet s house is a big contrast to the Romeo
we saw at the beach who was calm. Although we still see some indifference towards life. We know
this because he risks his life to see Juliet not caring if he got caught. This suugests the audience that he
is still not completely changed and committed to Juliet. This scene also contrasts the ball room scene
that he looks in control. We know this because the types of shots Baz Luhrmann used in that scene and
the balcony scene are different and show different things. In the ball room scene the shots are straight
forward, which suggests he is in control of how people see him. Then in the balcony scene most of the
shots are close up to show emotions or overhead shots to show vulnerability and young

And Then There Were None Justice
In the vast collection that is Agatha Christie s mystery novels, And Then There Were None is regarded
as one of her best, and also possibly the most uniquely presented story of them all. The novel, known
as both And Then There Were None and Ten Little Indians, provides a unique look at the concepts of
guilt and justice in comparison to other detective novels by Agatha Christie and other well renowned
authors of the genre. Each of the ten characters exhibits varying degrees of guilt towards past actions,
and as they each meet their untimely deaths, the reader is left to ponder whether or not the deaths are

Prescription Drug Abuse Among College Students
Prescription drugs are being used for nonmedical purposes and it is becoming so common that it has
been deemed an epidemic. Literature suggest that prescription drug abuse among college students is
high. This could be due to the stressful environments college students are placed in. Prescription drugs
will be discussed broadly but in some instances, limited to opioids. Many people are prescribed
medication on a daily basis and not everyone uses them as they are intended. What happens to the
leftover medication? Do people share their medication with other people? Why do people use
prescription medication for nonmedical purposes? What is being done to fight the epidemic? What
treatment(s) is/are available? These questions and the answers will be discussed later on.
There are many possible reasons why a person may use prescription drugs non medically. According
to a study conducted by Rozenbroek and Rothstein (2011) most non medical users use socially with
friends rather than alone. To come to this conclusion, they sent out a questionnaire that contained
information regarding three categories: opioids, CNS depressants, and stimulants. The questionnaire
included demographic information, relevant information (how they obtained the drug), and to make it
less of a hassle, they gave the questionnaire during regular class times to unsuspecting students. They
discovered from 428 completed questionnaires that opioids and CNS depressants were mainly used

The History of Texas
There were several extremely fascinating aspects regarding the history of Texas found in Passionate
Nation s pages 195 219 and Major Problems in Texas History s pages 146 150 and 162 167. One of
the most salient of these was the fact that Texas was its own independent nation. This fact was fairly
startling for a number of different reasons. One of these is the fact that the United States allowed
another nation to be created within its borders. This is something rarely done in history, and probably
never done again in the history of the United States.
What is also amazing about this fact is that the Republic of Texas was officially recognized as a nation
during the presidency of Andrew Jackson. Jackson, one of the most notorious executive office veto
users to ever act as Ppesident of the United States, did not recognize Texas as its own independent
nation until the final day of his presidency. However, Jackson staunchly vetoed the attempts of the
Cherokee people to form their own nation prior to the Trail of Tears, largely due to the fact that he
thought it highly imprudent to allow another nation to exist within the borders of the U.S. In fact, the
Cherokee Nation took its case to the Supreme Court, and actually won chief justice Marshall ruled in
favor of them. Yet Jackson still refused to recognize that nation, because it was within the borders of
the U.S. Yet when a nation formed that predominantly consisted of Anglos, he recognized it despite
the fact that it also

The move from trains to planes was a big one. This allowed teams to expand and form on opposite
sides of the country. Jet air transportation Even for short road trips became nearly universal in the

night baseball became universal everywhere in baseball in the 1950s. Night games were rare in the
1940s, but in the 50s they became a normal occurrence, with nearly every team playing several night
games a week. This made it easier to attend baseball games as well, as many adults had work in the
day and usually made it home before the games started. In the 1950s most fans began traveling to the

easier to get to games and such, but the difficulty of finding safe and easy parking nearby inner city

television. TV was common in the 1940s, but in the 50s it suddenly became an addiction. Major

launch further assaults on positions like Singapore and Australia. It was also a resource rich country
which would further fuel the Japanese war machine and feed the Japanese people at home. Though
there was a substantial American Force stationed throughout The Philippines at the time, it was both
of the strategic location and resources which governed the Japanese decision to invade the islands.

Persuasive Essay About Homework
Can you agree that lately homework is being largely misguided? Can you agree that homework is
being abused without producing its primary intended results? I highly urge you on behalf of all
students operating through this system; change is needed. The current use of homework may be
contributing to the decline in the motivation of students; therefore, interfering with their academic
potential. Evidently, there has been an abundance of research which shows how homework is
detrimental to a teen s self confidence, social skills, overall health, and most importantly their attitude
towards school. Why am I directing this straight to the teachers? Teachers have full control over what
they hand out and what they demand from students. Teachers also have the authority to practice their
style of teaching and alter them accordingly. Every teacher should consider the unhealthy and negative
outcomes which come with the homework system. In every student s life, a teacher is another
character you will meet who is supposed to guide, motivate, and support you through your journey in
life. Teachers are rather more like mentors. However, this concept has escaped for a majority of
students because of the pressure and the endless amount of stress which is constantly being stacked on
top of each other. In 2013, researchers from Stanford surveyed more than 4,300 students from high
schools in California. One of the questions the researchers asked the students was; did you experience

Essay On Cape Canaveral
On a cold and frosty morning in Cape Canaveral, Florida, thousands of people gathered to watch
something one of a kind something which they would never forget. Sitting on a launch pad at Cape
Canaveral, being lit up by huge xenon lights was an incredible flying machine. Its name was
Discovery and today, it was destined to go to space aboard 2 million pounds of solid rocket fuel and
500,000 gallons of liquid gas. The location of the launch, Cape Canaveral is one of my most favorite
places on earth.Cape Canaveral used to be a military missile launch site during WW2. After the
program was discontinued, the 42 missile launch pads became an outdoor exhibit and 3 new launch
pads were constructed for sending space shuttles into space. No wonder, ... Show more content on

my most favorite display was the space shuttle display. It had so many facts about space shuttles and

In the case, we have review the allocation of overhead by using Traditional Cost Accounting (TCA)
and Activity Based Costing (ABC) in a manufacturing company named Wilkerson. Through the case
study, I have learnt the importance of Cost Accounting System, the principles of TCA and ABC, the
advantages and disadvantage of ABC, the practical use of ABC and cost reduction using ABC.
1. Importance of Cost Accounting System.
Through the case study, I learnt that a proper Cost Accounting System is very important in a company.
Without the accurate system, a company is unable to maximize the profit from the product sold. The
product price might be charged too high (over priced) or too low (under priced). All these will ...

There are few advantages and disadvantage that I have learnt in the case study as below:
Advantage: ABC accuracy
ABC is more accurate in the cost accounting compare to TCA. With the accurate cost allocation, the
company can gain more advantage in price competition in the market.
Advantage: Break down of cost by activities
During the process of ABC, activities are identified and break down with individual cost. The break
down is very useful to the company to strategies the cost reduction since it will show the largest cost
contributor from the operation.
Disadvantage: Cost to have ABC
The ABC need an start up investment in term of cost and resources in collecting data for the analysis
hence there is a cost for the implementation of this method.
4. Practical use of ABC
During the study, I have practiced to calculate the indirect cost with ABC method on each cost driver
for different products. From this, I understand that the indirect cost for different product is distributed
in different ratio. For example, the cost of machining is contributing almost 75% in producing valve
but it only contributing 10% for flow controller. With the info, a company can eventually calculate the
more accurate allocation of indirect with respect to different product and it will help the company to
set the selling price more precisely and maximize the profit.
5. Cost reduction using ABC

Benefits Of A Online Business
Persistence is a prerequisite to success in online business. There is no way you can make money
online if you are not persistent. Training yourself to become persistent, despite all eventualities, is one
important factor that you need to learn right from the day you venture into online business. It should
be understood right from the start that making money online takes time. Do not be fooled by those
scams who promise you heaven and who make you think that you can make thousands of dollars
overnight. To benefit from online business, it s really dependant upon several factors among which
include skill, knowledge, effort, time, will power and persistence.
I have observed that most people are longing to earn money online. This is evident in the number of
people that sign up in some of the affiliate programs I promote. However, when you consider those
who persist and become serious online marketers, you get tightlipped. I believe it s not only with me.
Even other marketers have a similar problem. Do you know why? It s partly because many people join
hoping to make quick money without necessarily knowing what it takes to succeed in online business.
Persistence is an unknown secret to most would be successful people in online business. But it s what
has turned many online marketers into millionaires. Of course there are other contributing factors, but
persistence plays a pivotal role and is a key ingredient to success in your business. Hard work and

The Three Major Characteristics Of The Rice Riots
Rice riots
Rice riots happened in 1918 when the Japanese government was involved in the Siberia intervention
and the economy of Japan was in war prosperity that the export and industrial development was
growing rapidly. To maintain the competitiveness of the Japanese exports and industrial product, the
government set the purchasing price of the rice merchant from the peasants, which was much lower
than the market price to lower the industrial production cost of the raw materials. As a result, the
living standard of the general peasants and workers in the city had even worsened under the prosperity
despite the huge growth in industry and the economy. In May 1917, the rice market price starts to rise
rapidly by 3 yen per koku and the price reached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rice riot indicated the social structure at that time that the peasants and low level workers were
highly exploited and could not even benefit from the development of the economy. This riot meant the
strong dissent to the oppression from the government and the industrial Zaibatsu from the peasants to
normal Japanese people. To the government, this riot indicated that this economic development style
could not be sustainable, thus entered a more democratic period 1920s. The riot had led to three major
changes to the society. Firstly, the salary of the citizens and the purchasing price of the peasants were
raised a little while the government tried to lower the market price by increasing imports from its
colony Korea and Taiwan as well as other rice producing countries (Morgan 2011, 121 122), which
slightly improved the living standard of the poor. The more important impact is in the government that
Hara Takashi, who was the first untitled premier. This indicated the end of the Kazoku control of the
government and the rise of the party politics. Since the cabinet of Hara, the premier and cabinet
members could be untitled, which indicated a great progress for the Japanese democracy development.
The rice riot also caused the strong opposition to the left wing ideology in the Japanese government.
After the riot, most of the leaders in the movement were arrested and put to the death sentence. To
avoid such a riot happening again, the government had a stronger opposition to the left wing
movement and strikes (Morgan 2011, 125 134). For instance, even in 1925, a more democratic period,
to avoid the spread the communism in Japan and other left wing ideology, the diet had passed Public
Security Preservation Laws to delegalize the left wing parties. The strong attitude against the left wing
ideology were because of the serious rice

Complete Comparisons Of Wheatley And Poe
Complete Comparisons of Wheatley and Poe Throughout American literature, two poets emerge as
very unlikely candidates for poetic comparisons. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe s writings in
many ways reflect the unique lives that they lived, and having an understanding of the two poets
backgrounds can assist a reader in dissecting their manuscripts. Comparing works from the two is an
easy task to handle if an avid reader decides to pursue it, and even though they lived under adverse
conditions they have a way of shaping history into an intricate fashion of delicate, dark and
sophisticated writing. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe are different in persona and literacy, but
when a reader processes more of their works, one can understand how these two writers helped shape
poetry for generations after and still possess an impact on the literary world.
Phillis Wheatley was a young African American girl, brought to America at the age of seven to be a
slave. In her time maturing in the Wheatley household, young Phillis grew rapidly intellectually and
spiritually. Her faith in God and His divine nature is what inspired Wheatley to write a prominent
subject in her poem On Being Brought from Africa to America. Another example of God being the
backbone of her literary career is in her letter To the University of Cambridge in New England.
Though Wheatley was a slave, she is known as one of the most prominent poets in the pre nineteenth
century America. Mr. Edgar Alan Poe,

Using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ( Ofdm )
Abstract multiple carriers are simultaneously modulated using Orthogonal frequency division
multiplexing (OFDM) which is a transmission technique. Since the OFDM based system has high
spectral efficiency and is robust against intersymbol interference and frequency selective fading
channels. The major problem of this system is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted
signal which causes distortion of signal.
At the Receiver, to reduce PAPR in removing weight with no distortion PAPR reducing scheme which
is based on a weighted OFDM signal is proposed. In this scheme, on each discrete OFDM signal
through a certain kind of a signal which is band limited a weight is imposed. before a high power
amplifier (HPA), an OFDM signal which is formed with the weighted discrete data is then considered,
at the receiver side the original signal can be collected completely.
Meanwhile, to transmit the weighted OFDM signal the required time duration is same as the original
OFDM signal s time duration. Computer simulations will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme
which is proposed now. From the numerical results it is observed that , the weighted OFDM signal has
bit error rate (BER) performance that is improved when compared with the C F method and has PAPR
smaller than the clipping and filtering (C F) method. Here, the proposed method is simpler than the
clipping and Filtering method. Keywords: Bit error rate, Convolution, Orthogonal Frequency Division

Youth Violence Research Paper
Back in the old days, violence was a seldom occurrence. As years passed, however, it became more
and more common. In today s time, violence is just a part of everyday life and is happening among all
age groups of people. Shockingly, the biggest spike in violence has happened among teenagers and
young children. While there are many factors associated with this increase in youth violence, one of
the biggest key components is that cartoons, such as Tom and Jerry, Scooby Doo, and Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles, contain a lot more violence than they used to.
Tom and Jerry is a very well known cartoon that has been around for a long time. Although most
people probably see nothing wrong with the show, it is actually filled with all sorts of violence. In
every episode of Tom and Jerry, Tom, the cat, tries to capture and eat Jerry, the mouse. As if that is not
bad enough, the whole time that Tom is trying to get Jerry they are constantly beating and hitting each
other. There are not many moments in any of the episodes where Tom and Jerry are not attempting to
kill each other. An example of this is shown in one show where Tom has a gun and is shooting at Jerry

they can not escape. This is just one way that Scooby Doo subconsciously teaches children that it is

The Bhagavad Gita is illustrative of how sacred texts continue to shape society. The Bhagavad Gita is

son is getting bruises even at the slightest touch. He also has joint pains and frequently bleeds for no

why I feel this way.
Based on the information given, the child s probable diagnosis is Hemophilia. Hemophilia is a genetic
disorder that prevents blood from clotting properly. Clotting helps stop bleeding after a cut or injury.
Without clotting, a wound can bleed too much either internally or externally. ( Bleeding Disorders in
Children, n.d.) According to Griffin (Griffin, 2015) Hemophilia mostly affects boys (about one in
every 5,000 10,000). Girls who inherit the gene rarely get the condition, but become carriers of the

The Importance Of Public Transportation In Urban
Public transportation in rural areas of course operate to serve communities and individuals that live
and work outside of urban areas. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the need for
rural public transportation has historically been linked with providing mobility and accessibility to
essential employment, goods, and services for older adults, persons with disabilities, low income
persons, and others. Perhaps surprisingly, nearly 10% of rural public transportation trips were for
residents seeking medical attention. The public transportation s remaining rides in rural areas provide
transport for employment and education as well as for social and recreational activities where
residents might not otherwise be inclined or even able to participate in these endeavors. According to
the National Association for State Community Services Programs, low income workers and
households typically reside either in rural locations or in city centers, with modern jobs emerging
further and further away from either of these two locations. For rural Americans and for this reason,
public transportation offers the opportunity to access a better job and a better life. All over the country
rural transportation services have developed to serve the rural communities and the citizens that live in
these areas. According to the Community Transportation Association of America, in 2014 over 1400
agencies provide public transportation in rural and small towns.

Personification In The Pink Car
In recent generations, typical looks or ideas have dominated fashion. People write about this topic
through articles, newspapers, and papers. While models style and display the most recent styles, they
also represent what women should look like. Not until very recently, people have realized that not all
women look like models, unless they starved themselves or worse. In the poems, Fat is Not a Fairy
Tale and The Pink Car , the authors convey their main message of the poem as the social aspect of the
world and what they believe has the characteristics of the ideal person by using imagery and
personification. Admiration for individuality, a common theme throughout The Pink Car , is constantly
mentioned through the words of the Mark Halliday. Halliday personifies the cars in the poem as
people; specifically focusing in on the pink car. He repeatedly describes the other cars in a jaundiced
way; for example, he would characterize these cars as boisterous, rowdy, and big. However, he
identifies the pink car as disparate, one who does not worry or care about other cars perspectives. The
author wrote, Other cars might honk their horns to seem big // the pink car doesn t honk and doesn t
worry (Halliday 25 26). Halliday symbolizes the car as pink because society commonly construes the
color as feminist, sweet, playful, the color of love, flowers and romantic. His intention of this poem
was to help one find peace within themselves. The author wanted the reader to see that pointing out
one s flaws and blemishes cause people to become someone who is arrogant and too self confident by
referring to the other cars who did not have the characteristics of the pink car. This poem definitely
delineates what one wants to find in themselves, the satisfaction and happiness they eventually
discover. The author characterizes the pink car with a certain type of satisfaction and pride which
helps people look at themselves in a much more positive and confident way. He wanted people to read
this poem, and have people realize that appearance does not define one s personality. He wanted
people to grasp, that in a similar way, pink should not let society define what it is.

Sanctification does not happen without a deep motivation and drive from an outside source. There are
several areas in a Christian s life that can provide that motivation, for instance, Bible reading, the Holy
Spirit, and prayer. All of these are a great means of motivation but perhaps the greatest motivation is
the anticipation of the Lords return. The Bible is very clear that the rapture is coming, and that Christ
will return for his bridegroom. However, the Bible is less clear on when the church will be raptured in
relation to the tribulation period. There are a couple different thoughts on when the rapture will

Your task is to figure out these future financial statement values and create links from the Forecasting sheet to the Financial Statements sheet. 3) You will note that the ratios on the Forecasting sheet are defined in terms of ending balance sheet amounts, whereas the ratios on the Ratio Analysis sheet are defined in terms of average balance sheet amounts. To see why this it, construct a temporary line on the Forecasting sheet to input the ratio of Sales to Average Receivables and then compute the resulting ending Receivables forecasts. To illustrate this point, input 15% as the ratio of Ending Receivables to Sales and then add a temporary line where the Average Receivables to Sales is 15%. For each, compute the implied ending balance of Receivables each year, and then plot the two resulting series. Notice anything funny about the implied balance when the average receivables are used as the basis for forecasting? Fire Station 141 is buzzing with life; everything is in calm and peaceful; when suddenly a loud screaming sound rings through the brick walls. All of the men in the station startle to attention and rush around in organized chaos. The shuffling of boots on the smooth concrete floors and ruffling of thick fire suits is drowned out by the resounding alarm. The men pile into the large red trucks and screech out of the station. The alarm becomes silent and the station is abandoned and the only sound it the news humming in the background. The men hardly fit in the small quarters of the truck. The smell of burnt rubber and gasoline fill the cramped space. The sirens atop the thick metal roof of the truck bounce back and forth on houses and cars nearby. Dark clouds start to form above the speeding truck and soon the rain is playing a soft beat on the roof. The cold weather creates a pale fog against the window. Everything starts to slow down and become faded, the dark night outside the window now is everywhere and a group of boys are playing baseball. The ball is a dirty cream color and is throwing off water as it spins through the air, then smack it hits a leather glove with an explosion of water up into a young boy s smiling face. • 4. The Realpolitik Foreign Policy Of Otto Von Bismarck The realpolitik foreign policy of Otto Von Bismarck contained many similarities as well as differences when compared and contrasted to the weltpolitik foreign policy of his successor Kaiser Wilhelm II. In 1890, Wilhelm II forced Bismarck s resignation and ascended the German throne, leading Germany into a militaristic path, failing to maintain Germany s allies, and plunging it into one of the most famous wars of history, World War I. Bismarck was originally an expansionist who aimed to make Prussia a powerful part of Germany, however, by 1870, he gave up his expansionist ideas and became content with the land that Germany already had power over. Bismarck s cautious foreign policy favored peace over war, creating treaties and maintaining Germany s land rather than expanding Germany by embarking in war. He sought to maintain good relations with France and Russia and kept France isolated. Furthermore, his policy secured peace within the five major powers of Europe by creating alliances. The Bismarckian system created allies between the other powers of Europe, secured Germany s land, and avoided conflicts with France and Russia. Although a few similarities can be found between Wilhelm and Bismarck s foreign policies, the policies had major differences in their approaches and styles of execution. Wilhelm s policy posed more of an aggressive approach and made Germany a threat to other countries as well as involved it into conflicts. He wanted to increase Germany s prestige as a ... • 5. Relationship In Roland Barthes s The Death Of The Author Roland Barthes establishes through his theory The Death of the Author that although it seems practical to unite author and reader, implementing authors personalities on a text limits readers understanding of topics. He suggests disrupting this reliance so independent thinking will not be swayed by a fixation on the author s experiences. However, a reader s comprehension can be aided through a present author if prior knowledge is absent. Barthes stress on the importance of interrupting the author reader relationship is verified through Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and the dependence on her identity to make sense of existing topics of anxiety and repression. Barthes argues that relying on authors identities to uncover meaning is a limiting explanation for a text. He suggests abandoning romanticizing writers personalities to disrupt the idea that authors confide in readers by using characters as vehicles for personal meaning (Barthes 84). Instead, words are separate from the intentions of the author and act as agents of information in themselves as the action of writing knows a subject, not a person. Barthes claims a disaffiliation between author and reader should be enforced to free the text of an author s interpretations so the reader can make personal connections. When a writer is through with a text, they are disassociated from it. They are only necessary to replicate pre existing cultural ideas using linguistics that preform, not record. Dramatic Elements In Aunt Raini In this theatrical production Aunt Raini, directed by the playwright Tom Smith and produced by Pacific Lutheran University, has successfully perform theatrical elements within different perspective of the performance, while the performance has connected and integrated the content based from the script stories. For instance, from a stage production perspective, the constructing style of the scenes, walls, flats or hand props and the accurate placement of stage properties on stage has specified the background story setting while different style of composing, designing and painting of the scenery represent the amount of efforts and works that whole crew had put in during the process of theater production. The story of the theatrical performance Aunt Raini was inspired by Leni Riefenstahl, a world renowned filmmaker who creates the documentary Triumph of the Will of the Reich Party Congress 1934 in Nuremberg. Sadly, most of Riefenstahl s works after this documentary are reference as pieces of propaganda for the Nazi Party, which led to her to be misunderstood and isolated within the art and film communities throughout her lifetime. In this performance, Leni Riefenstahl, also reference as the protagonist character of Aunt Raini , has come to New York City to visit her grandniece Katherine. So no matter what technique used the coal dust still made it in the air and into the miners lungs. There were no safety regulations in place about how long to wait after blowing up coal, no regulations about how many particulates in the air were safe, no mask or safety precautions and no mandatory venting. Although some of these things were easily usable to the safety the company felt it was too costly. An elaborate system of fans and blowers was too costly , so the miner had to pay for the bad ventilating by miners asthma and other ailments caused by bad air. Romeo in the film is always compared to blue or Water. I think the director decided to associate Romeo to blue to show the audience that he is a calm and trusting person. For example he is always wearing a blue shirt. He is also associated to water, I think the director decided to do this because water is neutral, no one owns the water. So when he is with Juliet he isn t the Montague , he is only a boy. This because water is clean and washes away his name. One of the most salient of these was the fact that Texas was its own independent nation. This fact was fairly startling for a number of different reasons. One of these is the fact that the United States allowed another nation to be created within its borders. This is something rarely done in history, and probably never done again in the history of the United States. What is also amazing about this fact is that the Republic of Texas was officially recognized as a nation during the presidency of Andrew Jackson. Jackson, one of the most notorious executive office veto users to ever act as Ppesident of the United States, did not recognize Texas as its own independent nation until the final day of his presidency. However, Jackson staunchly vetoed the attempts of the Cherokee people to form their own nation prior to the Trail of Tears, largely due to the fact that he thought it highly imprudent to allow another nation to exist within the borders of the U.S. In fact, the Cherokee Nation took its case to the Supreme Court, and actually won chief justice Marshall ruled in favor of them. The Philippines during 1941 was to the eyes of the Japanese Empire a perfect strategic location for their campaign of conquest of South Eastern Asia. Not only was it a perfect place to station troops to launch further assaults on positions like Singapore and Australia. It was also a resource rich country which would further fuel the Japanese war machine and feed the Japanese people at home. Though there was a substantial American Force stationed throughout The Philippines at the time, it was both of the strategic location and resources which governed the Japanese decision to invade the islands. I highly urge you on behalf of all students operating through this system; change is needed. The current use of homework may be contributing to the decline in the motivation of students; therefore, interfering with their academic potential. Evidently, there has been an abundance of research which shows how homework is detrimental to a teen s self confidence, social skills, overall health, and most importantly their attitude towards school. Why am I directing this straight to the teachers? Teachers have full control over what they hand out and what they demand from students. Teachers also have the authority to practice their style of teaching and alter them accordingly. Every teacher should consider the unhealthy and negative outcomes which come with the homework system. In every student s life, a teacher is another character you will meet who is supposed to guide, motivate, and support you through your journey in life. Teachers are rather more like mentors. However, this concept has escaped for a majority of students because of the pressure and the endless amount of stress which is constantly being stacked on top of each other. With the accurate cost allocation, the company can gain more advantage in price competition in the market. Advantage: Break down of cost by activities During the process of ABC, activities are identified and break down with individual cost. The break down is very useful to the company to strategies the cost reduction since it will show the largest cost contributor from the operation. Disadvantage: Cost to have ABC The ABC need an start up investment in term of cost and resources in collecting data for the analysis hence there is a cost for the implementation of this method. 4. From this, I understand that the indirect cost for different product is distributed in different ratio. For example, the cost of machining is contributing almost 75% in producing valve but it only contributing 10% for flow controller. With the info, a company can eventually calculate the more accurate allocation of indirect with respect to different product and it will help the company to set the selling price more precisely and maximize the profit. 5. To maintain the competitiveness of the Japanese exports and industrial product, the government set the purchasing price of the rice merchant from the peasants, which was much lower than the market price to lower the industrial production cost of the raw materials. The rice riot indicated the social structure at that time that the peasants and low level workers were highly exploited and could not even benefit from the development of the economy. This riot meant the strong dissent to the oppression from the government and the industrial Zaibatsu from the peasants to normal Japanese people. To the government, this riot indicated that this economic development style could not be sustainable, thus entered a more democratic period 1920s. The riot had led to three major changes to the society. Firstly, the salary of the citizens and the purchasing price of the peasants were raised a little while the government tried to lower the market price by increasing imports from its colony Korea and Taiwan as well as other rice producing countries (Morgan 2011, 121 122), which slightly improved the living standard of the poor. The more important impact is in the government that Hara Takashi, who was the first untitled premier. This indicated the end of the Kazoku control of the government and the rise of the party politics. Since the cabinet of Hara, the premier and cabinet members could be untitled, which indicated a great progress for the Japanese democracy development. The rice riot also caused the strong opposition to the left wing ideology in the Japanese government. After the riot, most of the leaders in the movement were arrested and put to the death sentence. To avoid such a riot happening again, the government had a stronger opposition to the left wing movement and strikes (Morgan 2011, 125 134). • 32. Complete Comparisons Of Wheatley And Poe Complete Comparisons of Wheatley and Poe Throughout American literature, two poets emerge as very unlikely candidates for poetic comparisons. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe s writings in many ways reflect the unique lives that they lived, and having an understanding of the two poets backgrounds can assist a reader in dissecting their manuscripts. Comparing works from the two is an easy task to handle if an avid reader decides to pursue it, and even though they lived under adverse conditions they have a way of shaping history into an intricate fashion of delicate, dark and sophisticated writing. Phillis Wheatley and Edgar Alan Poe are different in persona and literacy, but when a reader processes more of their works, one can understand how these two writers helped shape poetry for generations after and still possess an impact on the literary world. Phillis Wheatley was a young African American girl, brought to America at the age of seven to be a slave. In her time maturing in the Wheatley household, young Phillis grew rapidly intellectually and spiritually. Her faith in God and His divine nature is what inspired Wheatley to write a prominent subject in her poem On Being Brought from Africa to America. Another example of God being the backbone of her literary career is in her letter To the University of Cambridge in New England. Though Wheatley was a slave, she is known as one of the most prominent poets in the pre nineteenth century America. Mr. Edgar Alan Poe, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ( Ofdm ) Abstract multiple carriers are simultaneously modulated using Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) which is a transmission technique. Since the OFDM based system has high spectral efficiency and is robust against intersymbol interference and frequency selective fading channels. The major problem of this system is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted signal which causes distortion of signal. At the Receiver, to reduce PAPR in removing weight with no distortion PAPR reducing scheme which is based on a weighted OFDM signal is proposed. In this scheme, on each discrete OFDM signal through a certain kind of a signal which is band limited a weight is imposed. before a high power amplifier (HPA), an OFDM signal which is formed with the weighted discrete data is then considered, at the receiver side the original signal can be collected completely. Meanwhile, to transmit the weighted OFDM signal the required time duration is same as the original OFDM signal s time duration. Computer simulations will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme which is proposed now. From the numerical results it is observed that , the weighted OFDM signal has bit error rate (BER) performance that is improved when compared with the C F method and has PAPR smaller than the clipping and filtering (C F) method. Here, the proposed method is simpler than the clipping and Filtering method. Keywords: Bit error rate, Convolution, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Personification In The Pink Car In recent generations, typical looks or ideas have dominated fashion. People write about this topic through articles, newspapers, and papers. While models style and display the most recent styles, they also represent what women should look like. Not until very recently, people have realized that not all women look like models, unless they starved themselves or worse. In the poems, Fat is Not a Fairy Tale and The Pink Car , the authors convey their main message of the poem as the social aspect of the world and what they believe has the characteristics of the ideal person by using imagery and personification. Admiration for individuality, a common theme throughout The Pink Car , is constantly mentioned through the words of the Mark Halliday. Halliday personifies the cars in the poem as people; specifically focusing in on the pink car. He repeatedly describes the other cars in a jaundiced way; for example, he would characterize these cars as boisterous, rowdy, and big. However, he identifies the pink car as disparate, one who does not worry or care about other cars perspectives. The author wrote, Other cars might honk their horns to seem big // the pink car doesn t honk and doesn t worry (Halliday 25 26). Halliday symbolizes the car as pink because society commonly construes the color as feminist, sweet, playful, the color of love, flowers and romantic. His intention of this poem was to help one find peace within themselves. The author wanted the reader to see that pointing out one s flaws and blemishes cause people to become someone who is arrogant and too self confident by referring to the other cars who did not have the characteristics of the pink car. This poem definitely delineates what one wants to find in themselves, the satisfaction and happiness they eventually discover. The author characterizes the pink car with a certain type of satisfaction and pride which helps people look at themselves in a much more positive and confident way. There are several areas in a Christian s life that can provide that motivation, for instance, Bible reading, the Holy Spirit, and prayer. The Bible is very clear that the rapture is coming, and that Christ will return for his bridegroom. However, the Bible is less clear on when the church will be raptured in relation to the tribulation period. To form a value maximizing hedging strategy, which is to identify the appropriate mix of linear and non linear derivatives, turn into a major challenge towards corporate risk managers. The article explains several questions about a multinational corporation s strategy in choosing and mixing the hedging instruments. For instance, why do most firms use mainly linear derivatives; why do a substantially smaller number of firms use only non linear instruments; and what factors influence the use of linear or non linear or the combination of the two derivatives. The researchers testified that the external and internal of a company s business risk are the key factor towards the use of these two types of hedging instruments. In the practice, companies face multiple business risk, which include price uncertainty and quantity uncertainty. In order to reduce the dispersion of operating cash flows, managers have to contend with two risk sources, the price risk and the quantity risk.
