Why Do Scientists Come Up Hypotheses
This paper will be talking about hypotheses and theories that have been proven over time with the
experience of how scientists came up with their own hypothesis and proved them or have other people
prove them wrong. Its goes over claims, evidence and reasonings scientists gave to prove their
hypothesis correct. Russian Chemist A.I. Oparin and English Geneticist J.B.S. Haldane were the first
scientists involved and conceived the Primordial Soup Hypothesis. It was developed in the year 1924.
These scientists claimed that the building blocks of the life came from one simple molecule that was
formed from the atmosphere (without oxygen) and was called organic soup . Now,evidence suggests
that the first organisms were autotrophs. Two new scientists, Chemists Stanley Miller and Physicist
Harold Urey, did a famous experiment 30 years later in 1950. Their experiment consisted of mixing
gases to present primitive earth. the gases used were:Methane,Ammonia,Water,Hydrogen, and no
oxygen, Then they electrocuted the mixture to signify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sales Gydon de Montlivant, who thought life came from the moon, H.E. Richter, who stated life came
from comets and meteorites, and lastly Svante Arrhenius who came up with Panspermia. But
Panspermia was first mentioned in the writing of a Greek philosopher named Anaxagoras in the year
500 BC 428 BC. Panspermia suggests that the seed of life may have been purposefully started off with
an advanced extraterrestrial civilization, or can be spread to earth other other planets by humans.
(Panspermia Theory) The evidence to prove this hypothesis are quite a lot so here are a few: In early
development mars had oxygen when earth did not and also when in early development mars was not
as hot as earth. There were many experiments made on this subject but one that was solely on

Tobacco And Its Effect On America
With such an expansive history in Connecticut, the subject of tobacco is just as encompassing. With
roots in Windsor colonial history through its height in the 1950s, sources try to capture it all at a
surface level. Scholars have studied tobacco over time evaluating its role in the community at that
moment in time. Over a variety of sources, overall the response to tobacco in Windsor has been
positive as it serves as both an economic influence and a cultural one as well. Starting at one of the
most recent sources, Brianna Dunlap looks at the entire Connecticut River valley as the backdrop as
Connecticut s tobacco industry in Connecticut Valley Tobacco. Published in 2016, Dunlap captures
tobacco s history starting at its roots in the 1600s through Cuba s reopening trade ports in 2015. This
book serves to establish Windsor s connection with tobacco and how it changed over time to match the
changing landscape around the tobacco sheds.
Dunlap explains how location was the initial reason that tobacco came and conquered the fields with
access to both the Connecticut and Farmington rivers. She states, for the settlers, this meant access to
trade routes and economic staying power, making the region a modern hub for development. With
immediate access, settlers began quickly to establish Windsor using tobacco as a main export back to
England and throughout the colonies. This platform provides Windsor a booming industry that allows
for development of other industries thus affecting

Abbi Alien Monologue
I am confused, Cas said once Dean and Abbi stopped laughing which caused them to start again. At
the stern look from Sam, they both did their best to hold in their laughter. Well, you see Cas, that is the
name of a song by Cas cut across Dean, No, I understand the reference, sort of, but that is not what is
confusing me. I understand other parents raised you, Abbi, but you are a Winchester. Why have you
not taken the name of your parents? Cas innocent question took Abbi by surprise. She hadn t thought
about changing her name to Winchester. It made sense but also it felt disrespectful at the same time to
the people who spent years raising her. The approach of several hunters she had worked with over the

Sam started to reach in, she slapped his hand. Hands off, buddy. I got this. He backed away with both

Dora, By Jhumpa Lahiri Essay
At the beginning of the passage, When Mr. Pirzada came to dine, Lilia says, I didn t mean they were
missing. I meant he misses them. They live in a different country, and he hasn t seen them in a while,
that s all. Even though she has had multiple chances to talk to Dora and her parents about the war in
Pakistan and the impacts it had on Mr.Pirzada, she doesn t bring up the issue or try to inform them
about it. This is because Lilia didn t try to history of her motherland until she met Mr. Pirzada, thus
she knows Dora won t be interested or can relate to the issue as Dora is an American. Jhumpa Lahiri
critiques both modern contemporary Americans and immigrants for their ignorant, privileged life by
getting the readers to view the world through the eyes of first generation Indian American, Lilia.
Halloween is one of the most celebrated and the most marketed holidays in America; therefore,
Americans buys costumes, decorations, and confectioneries which one can t afford in war zone
countries. In Halloween, children and teenagers get dressed up in their costumes and go from house to
house, walking along pathways and pressing doorbells. When the door opens, children and teenagers
would scream trick or treat and they receive candies, chocolates, and other confectioneries from their
neighbours. This tradition has increasingly become more popular and sensational as more people
decorated their house by stringing rubber bats in windows, and turning off lights for effect.

Work And Workers In The Twenty-First Century Summary
According to Richard W. Judy and Carol D Amico in the article Work and Workers in the Twenty First
Century , Americans are figuring out how to deal with the dramatic changes in the workforce. The
journey to become a productive worker will not be easy to achieve but the hard work Americans put in
will pay off in the long run. There are four forces that explain the dangers and satisfactions that are
ahead for American workers. The four forces to be considered are as follows: technological changes,
globalization, the aging population, and ethnic diversification. All four of these factors play a role in
coping with the changing workforce. American workers seek glittering destinations and many workers
will reach those destinations, but they will experience many dead ends and downfalls along the way.
Workers will receive more comfortable working and living conditions that no one could have dreamed
of in the past. Even though most workers will reach glittering destinations, there will still be workers
who do not; they will suffer from countless downfalls and their standards of living may decline. There
are two qualities that give an unprecedented character to the journey ahead. The ... Show more content

profound changes. Some who reach the age of 65 will not be able to retire due to the fact that they
require outside income. Retired or not, the aging population will contribute heavily to the consumer
market. Their demand for leisure time pursuits and professional services will fuel local labor markets.
This boom in the service sector may replace many low skilled or unskilled jobs. The aging of the

Touching Bottom And Chrysanthemums
Seeing these stories Touching Bottom and Chrysanthemums I see feminism through women s strength,
weakness and overcome from struggles. In the story Touching Bottom women s strength showed that
the protagonist is a strong person in physically and mentally. In the story Chrysanthemums I see Elisa
s strength, she is very optimistic and satisfactory person. She can live happy within a small circle.
However through feminist point of view I found weakness in both stories too. In the story Touching
Bottom Kari s weakness is male dominance and lack of self confidence on herself. As the story
Touching Bottom in the story Chrysanthemums the weakness of the protagonist is male dominance
and lack of self confidence. However through feminist lenses I see whether the protagonist of the story
could able to overcome or not. In the story Touching Bottom the protagonist Kari was able to
overcome from struggles in contract in the story Chrysanthemums the protagonist could not overcome
from obstacles and she is still in immature state of mind.
Women s strengthens is one of the important part in feminist critical theory. In the story Touching
Bottom the protagonist is mentally and physically strong. The protagonist really cares about
everybody in her family. She denied her father s quote about her father and married the guy she
wanted to live with, this is the quote My Dad told me to go, not to marry him. He said I would be

Social Darwinism Research Paper
With the establishment of Europe and the uprising of many new nations and counties led European
natives to gain knowledge of new ideologies of political and economic control. In the late nineteenth
century a young naturalist and biologist from England by the name of Charles Darwin, created a
theory that human beings, like animals and plants, compete in a struggle for existence. In which the
theory of natural selection was crafted and resulted in Darwin s survival of the fittest . Scholars began
to use the term Social Darwinism in order to describe the concept of Charles Darwin to explain the
philosophical justification behind racism, politics, economics and social issues.
Intellectuals also concluded that Social Darwinism rooted from Darwin s ... Show more content on

business competition to thrive in the American economy (2003). During the Gilded Age several
American industries, monopolies and competing companies increased their control in production and
the value of their goods. Men, women and children were employed and worked extensive hours for
low pay and dangerous working environments. This resulted in large labor unions acting upon a strike
towards their employer. However, at times judges also implemented the practice of laissez faire and
issued court orders to end the strikes. The wealthy people of this era benefited from laissez faire and
they strongly believed that the government should not interfere with the competition of the fittest

Scholars believe that Martin kept some type of journal during the course of the war, and fleshed it out
in detail later on in his life. While some events may be dramatized, the narrative is remarkably
accurate, since Martin s regiment would have been present at every event he writes about, according
to war records of the time. His narrative is a huge form of communication used throughout his entire
time alive. He kept a journal which made a huge difference in history.
Martin spent most of his times in his journals in the war and talking about his post war adventures. He
has traveled frequently during his time in the military. The most convenient and commonly used way
of traveling was on foot. It was the most inexpensive way of travel, the easiest way to travel in large
groups and it allowed the military to travel quietly, efficiently and without being seen. As Martin

Spread Of Buddhism Dbq Essay
In the sixth century B.C.E., the religion of Buddhism was founded in India. Seven centuries later, the
religion would find itself arriving in China in the midst of the Han Dynasty. In China, there were
many different views of the religion as it arrived and spread throughout the country. There were two
main responses to the religion. One response was that Buddhism could stand alongside other Chinese
religions and philosophies such as Confucianism, as it could do a lot of good for China; while another
view was that Buddhism had no place in China, as it came from foreign people and was barbaric,
stealing from the Chinese. One prominent response to Buddhism as it spread was that it was a good

Much of the people living within China are undoubtedly worried about this. So, this document shows
one way of how Buddhism was received, as a saving grace that could spare people from the fear of the
nomads. If they do believe and follow the ways of the Buddha, then they will have salvation. The
scholar likely wrote this as a way to help quell and fear in people s hearts, whether it be his own, or
those of strangers. The Buddha himself agrees with the notion that Buddhism helps conquer fear, as
can be seen in one of his sermons eight centuries earlier. In the sermon, he lays out the Four Noble
Truths of Buddhism. He proclaims in the sermon that death is sorrow, that being separated from
pleasures is sorrow, that sorrow arises from cravings which we have, including the craving for power
and the craving for a prolonged life. He goes on to say that the only way to end this suffering, to be
enlightened and reach nirvana is by ending these sorrows (Doc. 1). Buddhism lays out a path to end
sorrow, and in China,

The Bridge Over The Drina
This quote references Bosnia, yet it does not reference the 1992 genocide. In fact, the author of this
quote died decades before General Josep Tito, decades before the first rumblings of the fall
Yugoslavia, and decades before the first atrocity was committed. In his book, Love Thy Neighbor,
Peter Maass includes this quote from Nobel Prize winning Yugoslav author, Ivo Andrić s novel, The
Bridge over the Drina, to reveal how the seemingly peaceful multicultural arrangement between
Muslims and Christians could devolve so quickly into unimaginable horrors. This devolution is no
new event, however. Andrić s passage describes how there had always been concealed enmities and
jealous and religious intolerance, coarseness and cruelty yet they were restrained by the sense of order
and relative economic prosperity (Maass 11). Relative economic prosperity is why French Christians
did not commit genocide Algerian Muslims. Economic success is the glue that tentatively binds
together different cultures in Europe. As 20th century Europe has seen before, when the economy fails
and populist leaders are able to take power, the bonds of civilization turn out to be surprisingly weak
(Maass 15). We witness the success of multiculturalism within Azouz Begag s book, The Shantytown
Kid. Begag did not have a silver spoon childhood, and experienced various hardships and certainly
racism on account of his Algerian heritage; however, despite Begag s childhood occurring in the wake

Summary Of Jude s The Of Jude
JOURNAL OF JUDE
BY: ROSECEL M. RENDON 1. EPISTLE S AUTHORSHIP
Jude was the brother of Jesus and he wrote this epistle after he became a believer in Jesus Christ. We
need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of Jesus, did not believe that He was
the Messiah, the son of God. But after His resurrection everything changed and now he called himself
a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude and the
unimportance for him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to believe in
Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than the family blood.
2. DATE OF WRITING
The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on whether Jude
borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it was written somewhere
between the years 60 to 80 A.D.
3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers of false doctrines
sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers who were living sinful lives and
misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began teaching
doctrines of self righteousness and a false freedom they represented. This brought Jude, led by the
Holy Spirit, to deal strongly with these men, false teachers. In his epistle, he perfectly describes the
character, deception, lies, and modus operandi of these men and contrast it with the character of a true

Social Learning Theory
For this assignment, I will be studying social learning theory. Social learning theory was first proposed
by Albert Bandura. It is a theory that emphasizes the importance of observing and modeling the
behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others, ( Social Learning Theory, n.d.). There are three
main hypotheses of social learning theory. First, the theory assumes that people can learn by observing
others (Cherry, n.d.). Second, social learning theory builds on behaviorism by suggesting that intrinsic
rewards can help a person learn or modify behavior. However, observation alone does not lead to a
change in behavior. There are four main steps involved in whether the individual can learn based on
observation. Those four steps include attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation (Cherry, n.d.).
Social learning theory implies that cognitive processes (thought patterns) and environmental cues (the
behavior of others that may be modeled) are important for learning.
The assigned readings show that Bandura s original social learning theory was expanded on by other
researchers like Akers. Akers suggested that the frequency, duration, intensity, and priority of the
different associations individuals have with others also has a strong bearing on whether the individual
learns to change his or her behavior (Cochran, 2011, p. 795). In other words, a child is more
influenced by his or her parents because that child sees the parent often if not always (frequency and

The Battle Of The Creek
Smog is suffocating the clouds, and leaving it grey. The surrounding sounds of screeching and
machines sputtering to the command of their owners interferes with the soft whispering of the creek
itself. Everyday, every hour, the creek is poisoned. The monsters release their poison from their
chambers and dispose of it into life. Past a certain point, the creek is unable to breathe, and instead of
whispers, you hear gasps. It s dead. Over the generations, especially in this day and age, ecological
problems have become top priority whether it s to presidential debates or the uprising of the
environmentalists who stayed quiet for far too long. It doesn t have to be a large national park, but
observing a not so well known creek like Newtown Creek, represents the sludge and poison
industrialism and the human race itself has force fed nature. Seeing a desolated creek will make
anyone think twice before throwing even a gum wrapper onto the streets instead of the trash can two
feet away. Throughout high school, more awareness was brought upon environmental issues than just
the happy history and science behind the World. I knew a limited amount, which was historical
pollutions such as heavy dumping of chemicals into water sources that have to date tainted them and
killed them off or when it came to the mass deforestation for more industrial sites and how it was
impacting animals, but us in general. The most discussed environmental issue was global warming,

Greek Pottery Changes
No other culture has had such an important influence on western art as that which flourished in
Ancient Greece. (Herwig, 1988) Kate O Halloran agrees that a lot of what we know about everyday
life in Ancient Greece comes from Greek Pottery . (O Halloran, 1988) Greek Pottery, particularly in
terms of decoration, evolved over the centuries and was categorized into four broad groups; however
these styles did not pass abruptly from one to another and in some cases ran side by side for decades.
(Cartwright, 2013) These changes in pottery over time were impacted by the political , economic,
social changes and cultural developments of ancient Greece.

Essay Sir Isaac Newton s Three Laws of Motion
We have all heard the story of the apple falling on Newton s head while he was sitting against the tree,
thus
giving him the sudden idea for the Universal Law of Gravity. This, as I am sure most of us know, is
not really
what happened. A more accurate version would probably be, Newton observed an apple falling from a
tree
and started contemplating the physics of the apple s fall. The acceleration experienced by the apple,
which
started at zero when hanging in the tree, then increased as the apple fell. This as Newton reasoned
from his
second law of motion, means there must be a force acting upon the apple in order to cause the
acceleration,
this force we will call gravity. Thus giving us the acceleration due to this force ... Show more content

From this we are able to tell that
if an object is either accelerating or decelerating than an external force must be acting on it even if it is
simply the force of gravity, air resistance, or friction.
Newton s 2nd Law
This is probably the most known of all three of Newton s Laws of motion.
* The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force
acting on it, while being inversely proportional to its mass.
More often though we see this law written as;
Fnet = ma
Where F equals the net force on the object in Newtons, m equals the mass in kilograms and
a equals the acceleration of the object in meters/second^2. Since force is a vector this can be
rewritten in three separate equations to take into account direction;
Fx = ma, Fy = ma, Fz = ma
Fnet = Fx + FY+ Fz
We must also remember that acceleration as well is a vector and therefor has three components just
like the force. When learning how to use Newton s 2nd Law, however, one usually only uses examples
where there is only two directional forces acting on an object. These are usually the x direction (side
to side) and the y direction (up and down). For now we are only going to take into account these two
components.
This law is very useful in the fact we can determine the acceleration of an object if we know the forces
acting on it as well as it s

Electromagnetic Radiation In The Military
The military has many uses for electromagnetic waves. They use it in the kitchen all the way to the
battlefields. They use radio waves for seeing the damage that space dust could make. They use
microwave radiation for cooking. They use Infrared waves for looking for enemies. They also use
visible light to send streams of data. Two more waves are X Rays and gamma rays. X Rays are used
for looking through other objects. Gamma rays are used for explosives.
Dust particles crash into the military s spacecrafts. They use radio waves to see how much damage is
done. When the spacecraft is sent into space they run into little particles that move fast. If they move
really fast the impact can appear to make radio waves and damage the craft s electronic system.
They use microwaves in the kitchen. They use microwave radiation to cook the food. The radiation is

They use this to see their enemies or anything in the way. They can see what is in someone s hands in
the dark. This is like night vision but they can see more detailed. They can see if the person has
something like a garden utensil or has a gun. This helps them so they know if they can sit back and
wait until they person moves or if they need to attack or even just run so no one gets hurt.
The military uses visible light to communicate. For them to communicate they send information and
receive it. They use a code made up of a series of flickering lights. They have opened up new
possibilities. This is kinda like morse code almost. They flicker the lights in a pattern and the person

Cross-Culture Communication In Things Fall Apart By Chinua...
When reading two different books, it is quite possible to apply an idea from one to the other. If a
character in a book acted differently in situations, it would change the outcome of the whole book.
Cosmopolitanism s idea of cross culture communication is split into different parts with the ideas that
one should respect others even when they are strangers, one must not hold others to such high
expectations, and one may be connected to different people who come from different cultures through
the same idea. The character Mr. Smith, in Things Fall Apart, replaces Mr. Brown as the Christian
missionary in Umuofia, who runs the church. He is a strict white man who is not understanding to
Umuofia s culture. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea of cross culture communication
in Cosmopolitanism to the character, Mr. Smith, in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, this character
changes by accepting other beliefs, including everyone no matter their status, and continuing as Mr.
Brown would have. The first idea of cross cultural communication is that one must not hold others to
such high expectations, which relates to Mr. Smith in the sense that when he enters Umuofia he
believed that all of the Christian followers should know and believe in all aspects of Christianity. This
is not following the cosmopolitanism idea because he holds the newfound Christians to such high
expectations, in the sense that he thinks they should know everything about the religion. Mr. Smith

characterized by ventilation and perfusion mismatching that leads to hypoxic respiratory failure.
Ashbaugh and colleagues first defined it in 1967 when they described 12 patients with severe acute

Corrective Action for Disrespecting Higher Ranking...
This essay is on tact, professionalism, respect and disrespect, as part of my corrective action for
disrespecting higher ranking military personal. I will start this essay off with defining each of the
subjects so that the reader may have a full understanding on what each mean. Tact is the first subject
on which I am suppose to include in this essay, tact is defined as a keen sense of what to say or do to
avoid giving offense; skill in dealing with difficult or delicate situations. The second definition needed
for this essay is on professionalism; professionalism is defined as professional character, spirit, or
methods. Given that there are three main points to that definition, character is the key phrase to take
from that definition for it pertains more to this essay then spirit or methods. The third definition
needed is on respect, and the most suited definition for respect as it pertains to this essay is, deference
to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have certain rights or
privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment. With the definition of respect given, the
last and most important definition is disrespect. Disrespect is defined as to regard or treat without
respect; regard or treat with contempt or rudeness. Tact in my opinion is the way you handle yourself
in situations that you do not agree with or support. In the military you will face many situations that
you may not understand or agree with and the

Homeostasis Essay
Homeostasis Homeostasis is defined as the maintenance of a constant internal environment. This is
very important for organisms because:
· Chemical reactions can take place at predictable rates.
· Mechanisms are more efficient as optimum conditions can be maintained for enzymes, etc.
· Organisms can acquire a degree of independence from the environment. They need not be limited
to one geological location where the conditions fit their needs, but can spread out. Their activity is
also not restricted to a certain time, season, etc.
Principles of Homeostasis:
All homeostasis mechanisms follow approximately the same steps. ... Show more content on

Fat Metabolism:
* Lipids entering the liver may either be broken down or modified for transport to storage areas
elsewhere in the body.
* Excess cholesterol in the blood is excreted into the bile by the liver, which conversely can synthesize
cholesterol when that absorbed by the intestines is inadequate for the body s need.
Breakdown of Erythrocytes:
* The liver breaks down red blood cells at the end of their 120 day life span.
* The Kupffer cells lining the sinusoids carry out this breakdown, producing the bile pigment bilirubin
which is excreted in the bile.
* Iron from red blood cells is either stored in the liver or used in the formation of new blood cells by
the bone marrow.
Detoxification:
* The liver renders harmless or removes toxic materials absorbed by the intestines.
* Kupffer cells ingest foreign organisms or material, while toxic chemicals (e.g. alcohol, nicotine) are
made safe by chemical conversions within hepatocytes.
Deamination of Amino Acids:
· The liver breaks down any surplus amino acids because the body is unable to store them as such.

The Cryptic Secrets Of Egyptian Pyramids
The Cryptic Secrets of Egyptian Pyramids The pyramid shaped masonry architectures are called
Pyramids, and there are eighty of them known as ancient Egyptian Pyramids. The Egyptian Pyramids
are the products of a slavery country, but they are also the great accomplishments of ancient people.
Since the first discovery of the Egyptian Pyramids, many scientists have been dedicated in ancient
Egypt study. After years of researching on the earliest Egyptian Pyramid, Pyramid of Djoser, and the
most famous Egyptian Pyramid, Pyramid of Khufu, Egyptologists have successfully solved many
mysteries of Egypt Pyramid in the aspects of architecture, geography, and math. They came up with a
conclusion that Egyptian Pyramids are symbols of the ruler s power. Influenced by the major studies,
nowadays, people commonly acknowledge Egypt Pyramid as the tomb of pharaohs . However, more
questions about its purposes, building methods, and symbolic meanings have been brought up in the
last several years. The Egyptian Pyramids are not simply historical architectures, and their mysteries
have not been completely solved yet. Herodotus was an ancient historian. He was born in Greece and
lived in the fifth century BC. In about 450 B.C. he wrote in his historic documents that there were
secret burial chambers beneath the Great Pyramid at Giza (Orcutt). After the publication of his reports,
more reasons that support the idea of tomb of pharaohs had appeared. The Egyptologists who did

Any organization, no matter what kind, can experience workplace violence. Workplace violence often
includes behaviors such as physical assault, threats, harassment, intimidation, and bullying (Mathis,

involve physical harm that one may do to another, it can be in the form of verbal harm. Verbal threats,
intimidation and bullying are the most common forms of workplace violence and the least reported. A
form of bullying can be through gossip and rumors. Gossip and rumors can be just as dangerous and

Cultural And Social Norms In Dan Baum s Nine Lives
When you think about New Orleans, you think about the diverse nightlife and the handing out of gold,

history that explains the culture that is one of a kind. It also offers traditions that are practiced

The Communication Concepts Of Kinesics And Mythical Norms
Imagine a world without sound. Instead, what if you see sound or feel sound? In the TED Talk, The
Enchanting Music of Sign Language (2015), Christine Sun Kim is a born deaf artist that translate
sound into visual language of art and sign language. As sound can be the biggest obstacle for the deaf
culture, Christine did not let that disempower her, but rather empower her to realize the powers of
American Sign Language (ASL) and open the eyes if people that sound can be seen through what she
calls, visual language. Observing her speech, even though she is unable to verbally communicate,
Christine s expresses her emotions and word through her facial expressions and the context of her
speech breaks the barrier of a common norm that sound is something that is just heard, not see.
Christine Sun Kim s speech shows many communications concepts that can be analyzed from Warren

of kinesics and mythical norms was portrayed in the speech of Christine Sun Kim. Christine Sun Kim
was born deaf, and therefore her nonverbal communications skill is more emphasized than the average
hearing person. Out of all the nonverbal communication skills, kinesics is one concept that first came
into my mind. According to Warren and Fassett (2015), kinesics are our gestures, body movements,

Introduction Among the various approaches adopted in project management is Agile Methodology,
one that is mentioned frequently among experts and considered as one of the key approaches adopted
in organizations. As pointed out by Stare (2013), Agile Methodology can be described as a particular
way that is embraced in the management of projects and teams in Information and Technology among
other fields. There are various practices associated with the Agile Methodology and some of them
include the ability to assume simplicity, creation of documentation based on value, enabling rapid
feedback to all stakeholders, and embracing change among others practices. Since its emergence in
project management, various research studies have been conducted in a bid to explore the possibilities
of using the Agile Methodology in other industries that are not specifically meant for software

Essay on Lanval and Yonec
Often times in literature the body becomes a symbolic part of the story. The body may come to define
the character, emphasize a certain motif of the story, or symbolize the author s or society s mindset.
The representation of the body becomes significant for the story. In the representation of their body in
the works of Marie de France s lais Lanval and Yonec, the body is represented in opposing views. In
Lanval, France clearly emphasizes the pure beauty of the body and the power the ideal beauty holds,
which Lanval s Fairy Queen portrays. In France s Yonec, she diverts the reader s attention from the
image of the ideal body and emphasizes a body without a specific form and fluidity between the

The Fairy Queen controls the dynamics of their relationship. They meet and separate whenever the
Fairy Queen feels the need to. The Fairy Queen s beauty gives her power and control over Lanval. The
concept of beauty as a method of control for women is not something new. Lori Baker Sperry and Liz
Grauerholz discuss the concept of female empowerment through beauty in their article The
Pervasiveness and Persistence of the Feminine Beauty Ideal in Children s Fairy Tale. Baker Sperry
and Grauerholz state that, women willingly engage in beauty rituals and perceive being (or becoming)
beautiful as empowering, not oppressive (712). Baker Sperry and Grauerholz argue that in children s
fairy tales, the female characters see their beauty as their most useful tool and would undergo beauty
rituals to attain this beauty. By being beautiful, the Fairy Queen is able to win the attention and loyalty
of Lanval. Not only does the Fairy Queen receive power in this bond, but also Lanval himself finds
good fortune in the form of physical wealth. To further emphasize the Fairy Queen s beauty and the
power she holds over the court, France uses the series of girls prior to the Fairy Queen s entrance. This
builds a sense of suspense and the fact that the Fairy Queen easily trumps the girls in beauty further
emphasizes her superiority. By emphasizing the Fairy Queen s bodily beauty, France is able to show
the power the Fairy Queen has over Lanval and the court. While

Narrative Essay About A Masquerade Ball
Aahat Aahat Bloot! sounded the busy cars in Times Square, New York City. The clock struck twelve
and the street filled with people and preposterous, loud music. I don t know how I ended up here; I
remember leaving the New Years Masquerade Ball to head home before my stepmother returned, but
seems like I headed the wrong way. My attire for the ball was different; I now wore a red dress that
was clenching, tight with white stripes. I wandered around bewildered at the people and events
happening. Eventually, the mass of people from the street started to move towards this building, so I
followed behind the crowd. Immediately after we arrived in the building, the aroma of the place was
sickening. The room was filled with alcohol with a stench of marijuana; there were people
unconscious on the floor and some were throwing up. My mind was appalled at how unaware the
people were to their surroundings. Somehow I found myself in the kitchen of the place, they were
handing out drinks and bottles. The back of my mouth began to water for the drink, take into mind, I
haven t had anything to drink since the ball. To quench my thirst, I instantly snatched the ... Show

Citizenship In The United States
In order to understand the phenomenon of the unequal nature of citizenship in the United States, the
true intent of citizenship in the U.S. must be examined. To help define U.S. citizenship I will analyze
the arguments made by Scholar Rebecca Tsosie in her work, The Politics of Inclusion: Indigenous
Peoples and U.S. Citizenship. According to Tsosie, a common misconception of the United States is
that the nation was originally constructed to be inclusive and equal to all people under the
Constitution. She disproves this statement by using various examples throughout American history
that counter this claim. Tsosie makes two main claims about U.S. citizenship; that equality is not

McFarland adds information about taxation by the U.S. in the Virgin Islands. He focuses mainly on

Strike the Gavel; Swing the Blade Is our government capable of enforcing a final means of
punishment upon criminals? Do we have the right to take the life of a criminal? When is it time to
exercise lethal leverage, or is the life of criminal not to be ended by our government? These questions
are the reason the controversy of capital punishment remains far being settled. With so much money
being placed into our nations prisons, and so many victims and their families feeling that the offenses
committed against them have gone completely unpunished, we must drop the blade of capital
punishment, at full force.

colonial context as manifested in Forster s novel, A Passage to India. It also reveals the stereotypes
with which Orientals are depicted and the constant process of formatting or brainwashing to which
newcomers are subjected, in order to generate colonisers who are all the same. Further, it deals with
the image of the land as being hostile to the colonisers, fighting them and intensifying their feelings of
alienation and exile. The article particularly applies Albert Memmi s theories in his book The

However, the analysis of the text of the novel from a post colonial perspective reveals the precision
with which Forster depicted the socio psychological dilemma of Anglo Indians during the period of

the psychological dilemma of Anglo Indians who wish to call India home. In this article, I will
highlight the process of formatting (i.e. the process by which is created the coloniser and his
demonised other which is the colonised), without which Anglo Indians would not be accepted into the
community of the colony. I will also highlight those moments when Forster could not help but feel the
gulf that separates him from the Indians. Further, I will focus on the problem of race relations. Such
analysis is vital for understanding the deep thematic meaning of the literary text and appreciating the
problems of identity formation and the complexities of colonial discourse. At a time when the colonial

Comparing Fences And A Face In The Crowd
August Wilson s Fences and A Face in the Crowd two significantly underrated masterpieces. The
stories are completely different but the main protagonists are very alike. When Lonesome was at the
top of the world he felt as if he was indestructible. Before everyone found out who he really was he
said I m not just an entertainer I m an influence, a wielder of opinion, a force... a force! (A Face in the
Crowd). Troy Wilson was the same, he said Death is nothing but a fastball on the outside corner
(Fences). He talks down on death and feels indestructible portraying a fastball as an easy pitch.
Making him feel immortal or invincible. Where these characters differ is in their younger lives and
somewhat in personality. Lonesome seems to have always been an alcoholic and doesn t have a
fulfilling past. We know this because Marcia asked him if he always drank so harshly, which he

How The Mabo decision changed Aboriginal Rights and Freedoms for the Better?
On June 3rd 1992 The Mabo decision changed lives of Aboriginals all around Australia. It was the
first time that Aboriginals where acknowledged as the traditional owners of the land, and their
customs and traditions recognised. It also made improvement between the relationship of Aboriginals
and Non aboriginal people. The Mabo decision also led to the declaration of the Native Title Act in
1993. The Native Title Act is the recognition of Aboriginal s having rights and interests in certain land
because of their tradition laws and customs.
The Mabo decision challenged the Australian Legal system and fought for recognition of Aboriginals
and Torres Strait islanders being the traditional owners of the land. The Mabo decision was a 10 year
case and on the 3rd of June 1992 the High Court declared that the term terra nullius should not have
been applied to Australia when first discovered by Captain James Cook. The decision saw that
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People have rights to the land, rights that existed before the
British settlement took place. This decision acknowledged the Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander
Peoples unique connection with the land and acknowledged their traditions and customs. Evidence
that support this is Source 1, a newspaper article from The Age 1993. It also ensures that Aboriginal

Women s Rights During The Progressive Era
The Progressive Era was a period of time between the late 1800s and the early 1900s when the United
States sought ideas that gave people equality. Prior to the Progressive Era, women and immigrants
were not allowed to vote and not given the opportunity to be employed in many jobs. Also, children
were forced to work in factories and there was no conservation of the Earth s resources. During the
Progressive Era, rights of minorities, conservation of natural resources, cleanliness in food gained
improvements.
Rights of children, immigrants, and women were greatly improved during the Progressive Era. Before,
children had to work in factories at very young ages and risked harming themselves, but with the
Keating Owens Act, it limited the amount of labor a child could do. Also, many social groups, such as

Sacrificity And Spirituality InThe Butterfly Mosque, And...
In a spiritual journey, often times it is necessary to put oneself at risk. Physical, emotional or
psychological harm can easily befall someone on their travels from Booth s Badland to Homeland.
One s willingness to accept the burden of suffering, begrudgingly or otherwise, resonates throughout
the toils of a spiritual traveller in many forms. Sacrificing oneself or aspects thereof in the pursuit or
support of one s spirituality often presents challenges unique to the journey itself; as Heraclitus of
Ephesus said, You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to
you. In The Butterfly Mosque by G. Willow Wilson and the film Silence, directed by Martin Scorsese,
we see two different perspectives on the notion of self sacrifice in search of spiritual growth and
confirmation. While Willow Wilson relinquishes everything she knows in search of a new world that
may open her eyes farther than the Western world ever could, the travels of Sebastião Rodrigues begin
to strengthen his resolve in God, which would be dashed and battered against the Kyushan shores.
Both individuals will be shown to demonstrate the impact acts of self sacrifice have on ones
spirituality, for better or for worse; whether it is one s intent to alter their entire system of belief or not,
the costs that spirituality extolls from a person can have a wide range of unintended effects. Faith can
itself be subject to sacrificial acts; in order to save something else, one might

When Traveling Around The United States And Experiencing
When traveling around the United States and experiencing new places, such as visiting friends and
family or taking a vacation from everyday life, there is new and different scenery everywhere we go.
In fact, there are 19,354 cities and towns in the United States (Quora). They consist of distinct houses,
streets, business and of course people all around. When navigating to these various places one will
most likely travel downtown. A downtown is a central area or main business and commercial area part
of a city or town that attracts the public. Downtowns consist of entertainment such restaurants, shops
and bars and also business locations such as insurance and realtor offices. The way this part of town is
formed weather it is big or small, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are nearly 1,000 small business existing in Dewitt (Town Square Publications). From
observations, small town Dewitt doesn t offer much of liquor stores nor tattoo parlors. The pedestrians
of Dewitt show their interest in flowers, cards, fashionable clothes and fine dining. Comparing the
down towns of Dewitt and Clinton Iowa, there is much contrast between the two. Searching for a bite
to eat in Clinton, many come across commercial business such as Culvers, Buffalo Wild Wings and
Village in. A leap from the small family owned business in Dewitt. A great amount of liquor stores and
pawns shops exist in Clinton compared to Dewitt. Larger and more distinct places exist because of the
larger population and the diversity of people that demand them. Clinton has 2,000 businesses, which is
much greater then Dewitt. Overall, different types of business consist in both Dewitt and Clinton
because of the diverse people that live in each community.
Secondly, many receive a first impression of the downtown of a community by the overall scenery that
exists throughout. Observing Dewitt s downtown, a positive and welcoming vibe is shown throughout.
Things such as appealing brick sidewalks with a broad width for everyone to walk on, flowing through
the town and marvelous music to enjoy while visiting the family owned shops. Dewitt s downtown is
shaped to be pleasant for all. As stated in an article A thriving downtown is important for Dewitt s
economy. The downtown area

In A World Full Of All Kinds Of Languages, They Don’T Always
In a world full of all kinds of languages, they don t always mean the same thing. In the passage Words
Don t Always Mean What They Mean by Steven Pinker, he writes about the nature of language and
cognitive science. In his passage, he is analytical and straightforward with analyzing multiple
examples of how euphemisms are used and why. He always makes his examples to prove his points
and by getting his audience involved and thinking by including rhetorical questions. Words don t mean
what they mean because of different interpretations, the complex and euphemism human language,
and the manipulation of people s intent. Steven Pinker, in Word Don t Always Mean What They Mean,
is able to give points as to how words can have different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pinker had also included Gee, Officer, is there any way I could pay the fine right here? and anyone
who has sat through a fundraising dinner is familiar with euphemistic schnorring like, We re counting
on you to show leadership. (Pinker) The example included someone bribing a police officer with
money to try to get out of a ticket but saying it in such a way where it sounds less inappropriate than it
would be to bribe a cop. To show how language can be manipulated to insinuate people s intent rather
than stating it as a blatant proposition. In paragraph ten of Words Don t Always Mean What They
Really Mean, Pinker states, Later he slaps his forehead: Coffee doesn t mean coffee! Coffee means
sex! The moment is funny, but it s also a reminder of just how carefully romantic partners must always
tread. Make too blatant a request, as in Tootsie, and the hearer is offended; too subtle, as in Seinfeld,
and it can go over the hearers head. (Pinker) This was a great example by Pinker because the man
completely misunderstood the woman because she disguised the true meaning of what she really
wanted. In the article Languages from Bloomsbury Guide to Human Thought, it states Language is a
way of communication by symbols. Feelings, ideas, thoughts and wishes are encoded, sometimes
manipulated and passed on by the utterer; the receiver then decodes them. (Bloomsbury Guide to
Human Thought)

David Reiger Case
 In a matter of hours, Julie Taylor, director of Human Resources at Danville Airlines in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin, would have to make a difficult recommendation to the airline s board of directors.
 One of the airline s best pilots, David Reiger, 42, had recently lost his father to Huntington s
disease, a progressive, inherited neurological disorder that causes severe movement disorder and
eventual dementia.
 Danville officials had been concerned about Reiger s susceptibility to Huntington s. In a routine
blood test for alcohol and drug use, Danville had determined after discreetly sending the blood
elsewhere to be tested that Reiger did indeed have the gene for Huntington s disease. That meant that,
at some point, Reiger would develop the disease. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

5. Make a decision and defend it: allow him to fly or ground him?
ETHICAL ANALYSIS:
UTILITARIANISM: Utilitarianism argues that one should act in a way that produces the greatest good
for the greatest number of people.
 Understand the risk:We have to understand what if we allow David Rieger to fly and suddenly he
get sick and can t able to fly. There are more than 500 passengers, we can t take the risk of 500
passengers just for one person. Utilitarianism theory implement on this case study that act in a way
that produces greatest good for the greatest number of people which are the passengers, in any
organization or business we things customers safety first, we can t compromise on it.
 Employee s values: Consider that David Rieger is one of the best pilot of Danville Airlines, we can
t fire him just because of the disease symptoms. Taylor have to find out a way where she can think
both the situation ethically.

A Web Based Communication Method
A webinar is a web based communication method, mainly uses for interactive and virtual conferences,
seminars, training, and employee orientations. It is directed using an online software platform like
adobe connect to participate viewers via the personal computers or laptops. It gains popularity because
the majority of employers are hiring distant workforces, and also helps to train employees and agents
as many as possible at a time (Williams, n.d.). Williams (n.d) also provides a valuable information,
especially, for those who are new to this technology like me. For example, how to enter the given
passcode, a recommendation to log in 10 minutes before the start of the seminar, dialing the given
number to access the webinar following to listen to the presentation, the option of Voice Over Internet
Protocol (VoIP) if there is no phone line. Even though participating on a web based (webinar) seminar
entirely is a new environment for me, I decided to register for one of the very few free of charge
webinar seminars that related to the healthcare organization. After I had searched for a couple days, I
found this website (https://hrsa.connectsolutions.com/hrsa cdc/) and registered for the free enter as a
guest and had gotten participant passcode. Beginning from the date I registered for the seminar, I
worked on adjusting my time in order to not make conflict, started to see the webinar required
software and tools for audio presentation. Through my research and time arrangement

Are Dogs Better Than Dogs Essay
How Dogs Beat Cats At Being The Better Companion
Many people fight over whether dogs or cats are better. If people have been fighting over this topic for
centuries, there should be a clear winner. Some people believe that cats are better than dogs, but that
isn t true. Since dogs can do more things for people than cats, they should be crowned the winner of
the age long argument. Dogs can help out disabled people, save lives, help people live longer, and give
purpose to someone life.
It s pretty nice to have to have your dog help you out. Dogs can be trained easier, so you have to do

They will also make certain faces with how you interact with them and with what they do. Back to
that I m sorry face. It is a special face certain dogs do when they are naughty but don t want you to get
mad. It s because dogs like people s affection and hate being lectured at. Your pup also has that

child wants to play dress up with a dog, not knowing any better. Some dogs, mostly dogs that need a

  • 2. Why Do Scientists Come Up Hypotheses This paper will be talking about hypotheses and theories that have been proven over time with the experience of how scientists came up with their own hypothesis and proved them or have other people prove them wrong. Its goes over claims, evidence and reasonings scientists gave to prove their hypothesis correct. Russian Chemist A.I. Oparin and English Geneticist J.B.S. Haldane were the first scientists involved and conceived the Primordial Soup Hypothesis. It was developed in the year 1924. These scientists claimed that the building blocks of the life came from one simple molecule that was formed from the atmosphere (without oxygen) and was called organic soup . Now,evidence suggests that the first organisms were autotrophs. Two new scientists, Chemists Stanley Miller and Physicist Harold Urey, did a famous experiment 30 years later in 1950. Their experiment consisted of mixing gases to present primitive earth. the gases used were:Methane,Ammonia,Water,Hydrogen, and no oxygen, Then they electrocuted the mixture to signify ... Panspermia suggests that the seed of life may have been purposefully started off with an advanced extraterrestrial civilization, or can be spread to earth other other planets by humans. (Panspermia Theory) The evidence to prove this hypothesis are quite a lot so here are a few: In early development mars had oxygen when earth did not and also when in early development mars was not as hot as earth. • 3. Tobacco And Its Effect On America With such an expansive history in Connecticut, the subject of tobacco is just as encompassing. With roots in Windsor colonial history through its height in the 1950s, sources try to capture it all at a surface level. Scholars have studied tobacco over time evaluating its role in the community at that moment in time. Over a variety of sources, overall the response to tobacco in Windsor has been positive as it serves as both an economic influence and a cultural one as well. Starting at one of the most recent sources, Brianna Dunlap looks at the entire Connecticut River valley as the backdrop as Connecticut s tobacco industry in Connecticut Valley Tobacco. Published in 2016, Dunlap captures tobacco s history starting at its roots in the 1600s through Cuba s reopening trade ports in 2015. This book serves to establish Windsor s connection with tobacco and how it changed over time to match the changing landscape around the tobacco sheds. Dunlap explains how location was the initial reason that tobacco came and conquered the fields with access to both the Connecticut and Farmington rivers. She states, for the settlers, this meant access to trade routes and economic staying power, making the region a modern hub for development. With immediate access, settlers began quickly to establish Windsor using tobacco as a main export back to England and throughout the colonies. This platform provides Windsor a booming industry that allows for development of other industries thus affecting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though she has had multiple chances to talk to Dora and her parents about the war in Pakistan and the impacts it had on Mr.Pirzada, she doesn t bring up the issue or try to inform them about it. • 7. Work And Workers In The Twenty-First Century Summary According to Richard W. Judy and Carol D Amico in the article Work and Workers in the Twenty First Century , Americans are figuring out how to deal with the dramatic changes in the workforce. The journey to become a productive worker will not be easy to achieve but the hard work Americans put in will pay off in the long run. There are four forces that explain the dangers and satisfactions that are ahead for American workers. The four forces to be considered are as follows: technological changes, globalization, the aging population, and ethnic diversification. All four of these factors play a role in coping with the changing workforce. American workers seek glittering destinations and many workers will reach those destinations, but they will experience many dead ends and downfalls along the way. Workers will receive more comfortable working and living conditions that no one could have dreamed of in the past. Even though most workers will reach glittering destinations, there will still be workers who do not; they will suffer from countless downfalls and their standards of living may decline. In the story Touching Bottom women s strength showed that the protagonist is a strong person in physically and mentally. In the story Chrysanthemums I see Elisa s strength, she is very optimistic and satisfactory person. She can live happy within a small circle. However through feminist point of view I found weakness in both stories too. In the story Touching Bottom Kari s weakness is male dominance and lack of self confidence on herself. Seven centuries later, the religion would find itself arriving in China in the midst of the Han Dynasty. In China, there were many different views of the religion as it arrived and spread throughout the country. There were two main responses to the religion. One response was that Buddhism could stand alongside other Chinese religions and philosophies such as Confucianism, as it could do a lot of good for China; while another view was that Buddhism had no place in China, as it came from foreign people and was barbaric, stealing from the Chinese. The Buddha himself agrees with the notion that Buddhism helps conquer fear, as can be seen in one of his sermons eight centuries earlier. In the sermon, he lays out the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism. He proclaims in the sermon that death is sorrow, that being separated from pleasures is sorrow, that sorrow arises from cravings which we have, including the craving for power and the craving for a prolonged life. In fact, the author of this quote died decades before General Josep Tito, decades before the first rumblings of the fall Yugoslavia, and decades before the first atrocity was committed. In his book, Love Thy Neighbor, Peter Maass includes this quote from Nobel Prize winning Yugoslav author, Ivo Andrić s novel, The Bridge over the Drina, to reveal how the seemingly peaceful multicultural arrangement between Muslims and Christians could devolve so quickly into unimaginable horrors. This devolution is no new event, however. Andrić s passage describes how there had always been concealed enmities and jealous and religious intolerance, coarseness and cruelty yet they were restrained by the sense of order and relative economic prosperity (Maass 11). Relative economic prosperity is why French Christians did not commit genocide Algerian Muslims. Economic success is the glue that tentatively binds together different cultures in Europe. As 20th century Europe has seen before, when the economy fails and populist leaders are able to take power, the bonds of civilization turn out to be surprisingly weak (Maass 15). We need to remember as it is written, Jude and James, both brothers of Jesus, did not believe that He was the Messiah, the son of God. But after His resurrection everything changed and now he called himself a brother of James and a servant of Jesus Christ which shows the humility of Jude and the unimportance for him to be the half brother of Jesus in human terms but most important to believe in Him as our savior and king. To Jude, the blood of the cross was more important than the family blood. 2. DATE OF WRITING The Epistle of Jude is closely related to 2 Peter, and the date of writing depends on whether Jude borrowed from 2 Peter or 2 Peter borrowed from Jude. It is believed it was written somewhere between the years 60 to 80 A.D. 3. PURPOSE AND OCCASION OF WRITING: Jude had to deal with the dangers of false doctrines sneaking in the church. There were godless men, false teachers who were living sinful lives and misrepresenting the grace of God, they denied the Lordship of Jesus Christ and began teaching doctrines of self righteousness and a false freedom they represented. This brought Jude, led by the Holy Spirit, to deal strongly with these men, false teachers. • 15. Social Learning Theory For this assignment, I will be studying social learning theory. Social learning theory was first proposed by Albert Bandura. It is a theory that emphasizes the importance of observing and modeling the behaviors, attitudes, and emotional reactions of others, ( Social Learning Theory, n.d.). There are three main hypotheses of social learning theory. First, the theory assumes that people can learn by observing others (Cherry, n.d.). Second, social learning theory builds on behaviorism by suggesting that intrinsic rewards can help a person learn or modify behavior. However, observation alone does not lead to a change in behavior. There are four main steps involved in whether the individual can learn based on observation. Those four steps include attention, retention, reproduction, and motivation (Cherry, n.d.). Social learning theory implies that cognitive processes (thought patterns) and environmental cues (the behavior of others that may be modeled) are important for learning. The assigned readings show that Bandura s original social learning theory was expanded on by other researchers like Akers. Akers suggested that the frequency, duration, intensity, and priority of the different associations individuals have with others also has a strong bearing on whether the individual learns to change his or her behavior (Cochran, 2011, p. 795). In other words, a child is more influenced by his or her parents because that child sees the parent often if not always (frequency and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay Sir Isaac Newton s Three Laws of Motion We have all heard the story of the apple falling on Newton s head while he was sitting against the tree, thus giving him the sudden idea for the Universal Law of Gravity. This, as I am sure most of us know, is not really what happened. A more accurate version would probably be, Newton observed an apple falling from a tree and started contemplating the physics of the apple s fall. The acceleration experienced by the apple, which started at zero when hanging in the tree, then increased as the apple fell. This as Newton reasoned from his second law of motion, means there must be a force acting upon the apple in order to cause the acceleration, this force we will call gravity. Thus giving us the acceleration due to this force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a character in a book acted differently in situations, it would change the outcome of the whole book. Cosmopolitanism s idea of cross culture communication is split into different parts with the ideas that one should respect others even when they are strangers, one must not hold others to such high expectations, and one may be connected to different people who come from different cultures through the same idea. The character Mr. Smith, in Things Fall Apart, replaces Mr. Brown as the Christian missionary in Umuofia, who runs the church. He is a strict white man who is not understanding to Umuofia s culture. This essay is on tact, professionalism, respect and disrespect, as part of my corrective action for disrespecting higher ranking military personal. I will start this essay off with defining each of the subjects so that the reader may have a full understanding on what each mean. Tact is the first subject on which I am suppose to include in this essay, tact is defined as a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense; skill in dealing with difficult or delicate situations. The second definition needed for this essay is on professionalism; professionalism is defined as professional character, spirit, or methods. Given that there are three main points to that definition, character is the key phrase to take from that definition for it pertains more to this essay then spirit or methods. The third definition needed is on respect, and the most suited definition for respect as it pertains to this essay is, deference to a right, privilege, privileged position, or someone or something considered to have certain rights or privileges; proper acceptance or courtesy; acknowledgment. With the definition of respect given, the last and most important definition is disrespect. Disrespect is defined as to regard or treat without respect; regard or treat with contempt or rudeness. Tact in my opinion is the way you handle yourself in situations that you do not agree with or support. Physical, emotional or psychological harm can easily befall someone on their travels from Booth s Badland to Homeland. One s willingness to accept the burden of suffering, begrudgingly or otherwise, resonates throughout the toils of a spiritual traveller in many forms. Sacrificing oneself or aspects thereof in the pursuit or support of one s spirituality often presents challenges unique to the journey itself; as Heraclitus of Ephesus said, You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you.
