Elizabeth Johnson-Revisonist Method of Theology
Elizabeth Johnson is perhaps one of the most preeminent Catholic theologians of the new
millennium. The fact that she is a woman religious who writes from a feminist perspective adds to
her unique and distinguished career. This paper will examine the revisionist method espoused by
Elizabeth Johnson, in an effort to understand her approach to Christian feminism. An overview of
revisionist methodology will be presented so as to understand the framework in which Johnson
works. References to some of Johnson!s writings will then be presented in an effort to illustrate her
revisionist method. Finally a survey of various critics will then be presented in an effort to
determine what has made her method, approach and style groundbreaking in the... Show more

Upon crashing each of these waves paved the way for the next. As one reviewer notes: The still
abstract recovery of the humanity of Jesus opened the way to a consideration of the concrete
history and story of Jesus of Nazareth. Attentiveness to the specific ministry of Jesus led to a
new appreciation of the contemporary context and challenge of discipleship. Sensitivity to the
actual experience of following Jesus today raised new questions about the meaning of salvation
in Christ for the poor, for women, for people of color. The everexpanding encounter of world
religions posed anew the issue of Christ as universal savior.10 The third wave, with the view of
Jesus as liberator, would give rise to liberation theology. Johnson outlines six basic characteristics of
liberation theology: recognition of an oppressed group; action on behalf of justice; our relatedness
to one another; use of social analysis; changing the unjust situation and the vision that the reign of
God is already arriving.11 Johnson then highlights the three part method of liberation theology: the
oppressive situation is recognized; then the Christian tradition is analyzed for what may have
contributed to the tradition and finally the Christian tradition is searched for elements that would
yield a new understanding and a new practice that would be liberating.12

Writing the Critical Response
WRITING THE CRITICAL RESPONSE
A critique is an analysis of and a commentary on another piece of writing. It generally focuses on
technique as well as on content.
A critical response essay (or interpretive essay or review) has two missions: to summarize a source
s main idea and to respond to the source s main ideas with reactions based on your synthesis.
Organization
Introduction: attention getting with a thesis statement
Body: clear critical reasoning and adequate examples
Summary
Analysis: Evaluate the evidence: sufficient (enough evidence, examples), representative (large
enough pool/sample), relevant (accurate correlations), accurate, claims fairly qualified
Response: base reaction on your own experience, prior knowledge, and ... Show more content on

CONSIDERATION According to new research published by Wayne State University 7 6 days,
children use computers have better academic skills than children who do not have access to this
device.
In a study in 122 children aged 3 to 5 years old, while doing the tests, the children used computers
at school and at home 3 4 times / week school readiness scores and learning than those who do not
use. Previously, some research suggests that computers help children more active, recognize letters
and numbers better. However, the relationship between the computer and language skills of
children remains controversial.
Effects The researchers also warned that children playing games is not good, and I rarely use
computer games, usually they like playing with toys or interact with friends.
Research results from 100,000 students in 31 countries around the world gave a surprising result
that the computer can cause children to become less intelligent and lazy.

study. Two experts have used the test of PISA system to measure the skills of 100,000 15 year old

The Advantages Of Consumer Driven Personal Technology
Advantages of Consumer Driven Personal Technology
Improved technology has had impacts across various spheres of human life. It has enhanced various
sectors such as education, business, recreation, as well as the health departments(Ibm, 2013). In
business, technology has been of great importance to the consumers who like making online
purchases. They employ various forms of technology that enable them buy products or services
they need at their own comforts in an efficient manner (Ibm, 2013). Virtually all consumers are
aware of the recent revolution in the manner in which people work today. There are currently new
expectations, technologies, stakeholders, as well as spaces of physical work. All these play a role
in the way in which people do business today. The kind of technology that enables consumers to
purchase products and services at their homes is termed as consumer driven personal technology.
Like any other kind of emerging technology trend, this kind of technology has both advantages and
disadvantages. This paper illustrates various advantages of consumer driven personal technology.

Time starved consumers have the ability to create a new kind of communication touch point in
various organizations(Eastwood, 2010). Fewer shoppers currently take time strolling through
stores looking for the goods that they need. In other words, mobile technologies have provided the
necessary platform for consumers to make purchases without physically gong to the shops. This
saves them enough time for doing other activities. Parents find it easier shopping while taking
their kids to vacations or their pets to cleaners. Mobile devices aid in delivering various expansive

Music and Cultural Identity
Some may say music is just music; a song is just a song. However, music plays an enormous role
in our psychology, because a single song has the ability to bring about many kinds of thoughts and
emotions in the listener. Music is subtly one of the main factors in which people identify with
certain groups and establish their belonging in society. It shapes people s perspectives on how the
world functions and the roles they play within it. Musiccan function the same way in a culture; it
can reflect many of the cultures values and ideologies. Music can have many effects on culture and
the people s idea of who they think they are within that culture. Music can serve in a way that

Their sense of belongingness gives the people pride, because the songs embody the rich history,
culture, and values of Mexico. As a result, people in in Mexican communities are able to proudly
identify themselves as Mexicans. With a vast amount of culturally proud people, Mexican culture
will ultimately be kept alive.
Music can also be a differentiating factor for social and economic classes. In lecture twelve (Roma
music), the clear distinction between the romungre and vlachs musicals groups proved that music
influenced this separation. The types of instruments used, or lack of, tell of the people s standing in
the social and economic ladders. For instance, romungre music is professional, urban, and was
played in elaborate settings. In the video excerpt shown during lecture, the well dressed man played
the violin, while the other members played other various instruments such as the cimbalom and
piano. The possession of the various instruments is clear evidence that the people in that community
have extra money to spend on these luxurious items. In addition to the aesthetics of the
performance, the sounds produced by these instruments also suggest a level of sophistication and
class. The song began with a sow tempo, which offers a smooth timbre. The tempo then sped up,
which showed the virtuosity of performers, suggesting the affluence of the performers, because he

Gospel Of Luke Persuasive Essay
The Gospel of Luke is one of the four gospels as part of the new testament. The Gospel of Luke is
said to have been written around 85 ce. As Luke was not an eyewitness for the events he
describes, he was dependent on previous writings such as the Gospel of Mark. The purpose of the
Gospel of Luke is to communicate the life and teachings of Jesusin a way that promotes the
significance of God and his divine nature. Luke makes an effort to make his readings relatable to
readers from different religious, ethnic, and social backgrounds. As a result, Luke makes an effort
to create an easily relatable story through his use of language and writing structures, in order to
create a persuasive argument for his readers to convert to Christianity. One... Show more content on

His last words before his crucifixion were Father, into your hands I commend my spirit are
notable to the readers of Luke as they show the calm resolution of Jesus despite his plea of
innocence, further displaying the admirable characteristics he possesses. Luke ends his gospel with
the resurrection of Jesus, and uses the story to further convince his audience of Christianity. If
Jesus had only died and never been resurrected, his death would have been like the normal death
of a human. However, through his resurrection he is further established as someone free of sin,
and rewarded for his demeanor with life after death. To readers of the Gospel, not only does the
resurrection persuade believers in life again after death, (a tempting philosophy for his audience to
believe in), but also shows that Jesus has survived and is still there to help believers in his faith.
By describing the resurrection of Jesus, Luke presents his audience with the belief that Jesus is
immortal and therefore always there to respond to an individual s prayers and

Difference Between Prospect Theory And Prospect Theory
INTRODUCTION
Generally, it is believed the net effect of the gains and losses involved with each choice are
combined to present an overall evaluation of whether a choice is desirable. Scholars tend to use
utility to state enjoyment and contend that we prefer instances that maximize our utility.
However, studies have found that we don t actually process information in such a rational way.
Kahneman and Tversky presented an idea called prospect theory in 1979, which contends that
people value gains and losses differently, and, as such, will base decisions on perceived profits
rather than perceived losses. Thus, if a person were given two equal choices, one expressed in
terms of possible gains and the other in possible losses, people would choose ... Show more content

First, in prospect theory, people derive utility from gains and losses, measured relative to some
reference point, rather than from absolute levels of wealth: the argument of Kahneman and Tversky
motivate this assumption, known as reference dependence, with explicit experimental evidence
(see, for example, Problems 11 and 12 in their 1979 paper), but also by noting that our perceptual
system works in a similar way: we are more attuned to changes in attributes such as brightness,
loudness, and temperature than we are to their absolute

The Common Man, Nothing More Than A Phantom
Though Wall Street seems to be an enigma to the common man, nothing more than a phantom one
hears about constantly. Many view Wall Street in a negative light because they seem to be living in
an elite exclusive parallel world, where they are untouched by the economic disasters they cause. In
some way they really are living in a parallel world, in the sense that Wall Street has its own culture
that is separate from other surrounding cultures. In Biographies of Hegemony author Karen Ho
explores this sub culture especially focusing on their recruitment methodology. One of the parts of
their culture is the word smart which means something different to them. Smartness implies that
recruits standardize themselves and Investment Bankscustomize themselves in order to be
impressive to each other and because Wall Street s business relies on impressiveness.
The recruits have to tailor themselves to find into a box, model of the ideal candidate , that
Investment Banks are looking for. To be hired employers and recruiters need to ensure that they fit
into the Wall Street Lifestyle, the expensiveness, the exclusivity, and the impressiveness. Wall
Street is looking for a specific candidate, because as Ho points out, The key criterion of smartness
is to wow the clients... smartness must be represented and reinforced by a specific appearance and
bodily technique that dominantly signals that impressiveness... (Ho 167). The ideal candidate is
smart , which does not match the colloquial

Implementation Of A Competitive Environment
In today s competitive environment, oOrganisations are now facinge pressure to meet community
expectations regarding quality pf product, lower cost and continue improvement constant change in
the external environment driven by heightened competition and more demanding customers (Nahm
et al. 2006; Karim et al. 2008; Drohomeretski et al. 2014). Running operations at the lowest cost,
with greater reliability and speed and a superior ability to change and continuously improve, are
some of the pillars in the development of operations strategy in organisations that seek to survive
in this competitive environment (Hayes and Pisano 1996; Ward and Duray 2000; Voss 2005; Datta
and Roy 2011). Process management is aimed directly at organisation specific processes and
capabilities, and in particular, at streamlining the smooth flow of linked processes across an
organisation. Improved processes affect the potential for firms capabilities that lead to competitive
advantage in terms of operational performance. Expectations from process management practice are
improved quality and efficiency, increased revenue, reduced costs, and particularly, higher profits
(Ataseven, Prajogo and Nair 2014). Therefore, 75% of organisations currently employ some type of
process improvement strategies to meet such expectations (Dhallin 2011). Healthcare organisations

Permian Extinction
Over the course of its 4.5 billion year history, the Earth has seen the rise and fall of many
populations of organisms. However, in Earth s history, there have been five big mass extinction
events, characterized as periods in Earth s history when abnormally large numbers of species die
out simultaneously or within a limited time frame. (BBC) These events are cataclysmic enough to
wipeout at least 50% of all organisms living during that period. The causes of mass extinctionare
many from the asteroids that sealed the fate of the dinosaurs to the volcanoes that choked out air to
96% of the organismic population during the Permian extinction, however one of the most recent
yet potent mechanisms of bringing upon a mass extinction are humans.... Show more content on

In the span of 50 years, the population of humans on this planet have reached all time highs and
continue to rise and with this rise comes the effects of overpopulation. The planet cannot sustain
so many people during such a short span of time. Not only is there a loss of space for new
generations of humans to live on, but there has been an excessive use of natural resources before
there is a chance to replenish them such as food, natural gases, and water. The problem of
overpopulation seems to truly encompasses all other aspects of the factors leading to the sixth
mass extinction such as habitat loss and global warming. The population must be feed and
because of this, million upon millions of acres of land once inhabited by a whole ecosystem
have been converted to farmland to provide food for the growing population. In addition, the
increase in leads to an increase in waste and therein arises a problem: where to put the waste. In
the United States alone, 4.39 pounds of trash per day and up to 56 tons of trash per year are
created by the average person Landfills seemed to be the perfect solution for this problem,
however, over the years, landfill managers have been emphasizing just how quickly they are
running out of space. The more people there are on the planet, the more waste is being produced.
Some of this waste is quite toxic, and even landfills which are

Compare And Contrast Popular Mechanics And A Good Man Is...
In life, sometimes random events will lead to one s death. These two stories, Popular Mechanics
and A Good Man is Hard to Find , both portray this idea. Popular Mechanics, written by Raymond
Carver, has a baby torn apart by its own mother and father s hate for one another. The mother
randomly saw the picture of the child and took it, and this stirred up emotions in the both of them.
Enough emotions to stop paying attention to the child s well being. A Good Man is Hard to Find
is written by Flannery O Connor, and in it a familyof six crash because of their cat, and a murderer
of a sort drives by randomly, eventually leading to the deathof them all. In these two stories, both
the important characters die in the climax, and both characters, baby and cat, are catalysis in the
story. The style of each story is negative writing and destructive in nature.
Both Popular Mechanics and A Good Man is Hard to Find both have very similar climaxes. In
each story, a character dies as the main point within it, leading to the reader having to interpret their
death. The misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and he shot her three times through the
chest. Then he put his gun down in the ground and took off his glasses and began to clean them. (O
Connor, p.122) This clearly shows the misfits attitude towards death and the killing of others. A part
of the disconnection of her death is that the misfit naturally enjoys to kill, and does not have a
connection to her. She reaches out to him, and he later cleans off his glasses like she was just
another dead person. This is unlike Popular Mechanics in that the killers care for the one they
kill. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back...He felt the baby slipping out of his
hands and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. (Carver p.125) Both
of the parents love their baby, however the hatred for one another has blinded them and in the
end it destroys it. The ending is left to one s interpretation, but the baby most likely died given
how fragile they are and how aggressive the mother and father were. The old lady in A Good Man
is Hard to Find died a cold death leaving the killer to be either board or satisfied, and the

The Pit And The Pendulum By Edgar Allen Poe
...All sensations appeared swallowed up in a mad rushing of the soul into Hades. Then silence, and
stillness, night were the universe. This quote from The Pit and the Pendulum is an excellent
example of how Edgar Allen Poe is a master at using point of view, setting, and conflict to display
the thematic message of fearin his short stories. This example uses all three literary strategies.
The setting contributes to the theme of fear by stating that the soul was descending to Hades,
the Greek god of the underworld, or hell, a place that will almost definitely draw a fear response
in the reader. He uses conflict by having the reader infer that the story is about a dying person,
and so on. He finds unique ways to do this with all types of literary strategies, but most
prominently with point of view, setting and conflict. He especially uses point of view in a unique
way, making the narrator either mentally unstable or having some other unusual ailment.
Therefore, after thorough analysis of both The Black Cat and The Pit and the Pendulum, it is
clear that Edgar Allen Poe is a master at using setting, conflict, and point of view to help display
the unique thematic message of fear throughout almost all of his literary works. Firstly, Poe uses
setting to convey the theme of fear in The Black Cat and The Pit and the Pendulum . In The Black
Cat , the climax of the story takes place in a cellar. At length, for the third or fourth time, they
descended into the cellar, The

The Factors And Negative Consequences Of Police Porruption
Police corruption has negative consequences on the society, thus, it is important to investigate the
factors that cause police corruption. The present essay aims to explore the factors that cause police
corruption and its intervention. Police corruption is believed to be an organisational deviance rather
than an individual misbehaviour. Policeofficers are considered clean when they join the police
organisation and their deviant behaviours might be induced by police culture. The employment of
slack management with low control and norms of secrecy of police corruption in police
organisations are factors that lead to police corruption. In addition, recruits follow the informal rules
in the organisation due to peer pressure and are initiated... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This perspective adopts the idea that good people can be induced to do nearly anything if they are
convinced that it is appropriate in a social context (Browning, 1992). Each context is perceived to
have its own inducements and rationalism that make people, who enter as rule abiding individuals,
allow themselves to do things that they would not do outside of the group (Punch, 2008). Thus, the
process in which initially clean police officers are influenced by the organisation and end up
performing deviant behaviours needs to be examined in explaining police

Early Doctors, Surgeons, and Apothecaries Essay
In the 18th century, the medical field was made up of mostly men. There were three jobs in this
field: Physicians, Surgeons, and Apothecaries. Physicians were the most elite of the three.
Physicians in the 18th century had no knowledge of anything. Nobody knew that disease was
spread by bacteria, germs, and viruses. Because they didn t know this, nobody practiced sterilization
or hygiene, hospital and personal.
In the 18th century, scientists were strongly influenced by theories. In 350 B.C., Aristotle believed
that everything was made from fire, earth, air and water. There later was a Greek physician named
Galen. He practiced about 500 years after Aristotle. Galen believed that the body had four elements

camp surgeon also tried to balance the four humors. The most common diseases among soldiers
were dysentery, fever, and smallpox. Most of them were caused by unsanitary conditions. Most
wounds in the war were caused by bullets. First the surgeon would try to remove the bullet. If he
couldn t, then he would bandage the wound. If the bone was damaged and a limb couldn t be saved,
then the surgeon would amputate the limb.
The most deadly disease during the 18th century was smallpox. It spread very fast, killing a lot of
people. It started out with flu like symptoms which is a fever, tiredness, back pain, and vomiting.
During this part of smallpox, the person who had it became very contagious. Later, the fever
dropped and a rash formed in the nose and around the mouth. Then the rash turned to bumps that
spread to the rest of the body.
Newspapers became important in the 18th century. Since there were many outbreaks such as
smallpox, yellow fever, and diphtheria, people wanted to know about these diseases. They

Compare And Contrast Rervacca And It Happened One Night
The early twentieth century was a time of change for the world. The world had gone through
two World War s by the end of 1945, and their impact on the world had a lot to do with the
progressing of the cinema industry. In the instance of the films Rebecca, which was directed by
Alfred Hitchcock and It Happened One Night, which was directed by Frank Capra, each portray
different aspects of the theatre industry. The year that It Happened One Night came to theatres, the
production code administration was approved that same year, which lined out all of the rules of
how Hollywood directors should direct their movies and what they were and were not allowed to
show in their movies, such as specific aspects about marriage or the lack of a marital commitment.
Many differences can be seen within the two previously mentioned movies including character
depth, different uses of framing, and uses of lighting. Each of these aspects creates a different
meaning for each of the films, which helps further the plot and engage the viewers. It Happened
One Night is a movie about a spoiled heiress who runs away to marry a man her father does not
approve of. As she is traveling from Miami to New York City, she comes across a man who is a
reporter looking for a story and finds one in her journey, but ends up falling in love with her. This
film, especially in comparison to Rebecca, does not display much character depth. The characters
are typical for the time period and stayed consistent the

Investigation of in vitro and in vivo antifungal activity of different plant acetonic extracts against
fungal skin isolates
ABSTRACT
T he worldwide increase of multidrug resistance has impaired the current antimicrobial therapy,
warranting the search for other alternatives. This study investigated the efficacy of using plant
extracts; Lawsonia inermis L(Henna), Glycyrrhiza glabra L(licorice) and Rosmarinus officinalis L
(Rosemary) as antifungal agents.Antifungal susceptibility test revealed that nystatin were mostly
active against tested clinical isolates. In vitro antifungal activity of the different plant extracts
against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice, had high antifungal activity. In vivo study,
topical application of licorice gave promising and excellent healing response. We propose that the
higher percentage of (GC MS) of 3 O Methyl d glucose 29.1 %, most probably are the causes of its
higher antifungal activity.
INTRODUCTION
Fungal and bacterial skin infections are of public health concern as they can elicit social,
economic and public health problem (Maseleno and Hasan, 2013). Heavily infected persons with
visible lesions are often unconscious targets of social stigma of rejection isolation because of their
unslightly appearance. The cost of long term diagnosis and treatment can be over bearing for low
income individuals who make up the bulk of developing countries where these infections occur in
epidemic proportions due to poor hygiene. It

A Formal Analysis Of Death Mask Based On Gold Death Mask...
A Formal Analysis of Death Mask Based on Gold Death Mask from Mycenae, Grave Circle A,
Shaft Grave IV circa 1550 BC
The Greek Exhibition section of The Royal Ontario Museum houses this replica, one made by an
unknown artist, of an original, gold funeral mask said to be a depiction of the face of the
Mycenaean King, Agamemnon. Known widely as the Death Mask of Agamemnon, the original
artefact dates to 1550 BC, which corresponds with the Greek Bronze Age when metals were
being worked due to technological advancements in various urban societies of the world. It is a
marvel of craftsmanship as much as of cultural and technological prowess of that age since the
original was made from a single sheet of almost pure gold.
Discovered in a burial site labelled Grave Circle A, shaft Grave IV on the citadel of Mycenae by an
archaeologist named Henrich Schliemann (1876), the original mask has been claimed to belong
to the grave of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. This claim has since been questioned for it verity
since the grave was likely dug as much as three centuries before Agamemnon is thought to have
lived and ruled. Nevertheless, the death mask has an aura of romance and mystery about it since it
reveals so much about the cultural and social practices of the civilization of Mycenae, who like
other ancients such as the Egyptians made funerary masks for their powerful and wealthy dead.
The original of this mask, made as it is with such finely sculpted and etched detail out of a thin sheet

Essay about Vocational Teacher Education Reform
Vocational Teacher Education Reform
The reform movements of the 1980s triggered numerous demands to reexamine and reform the way
students and their teachers are educated. This Digest examines the implications for vocational
teacher education emerging from general teacher education reform movements. It discusses how
excellence in vocational education teaching can be achieved and proposes 21st century models for
vocational teacher education.
Impacts of Reform Movements on Vocational Teacher Education
Several of the major reform initiatives of the 1980s and early 1990s argued that improving
education requires improving teacher quality and, accordingly, teacher education. Numerous
changes in teacher recruitment, preparation, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In response to mounting evidence of the deterioration of vocational teacher education, (Dykman
1993), the University Council for Vocational Education and the National Association of State
Directors of Vocational Technical Education Consortium formed a joint task force that identified 13
points for initiating a reform process entailing designing and implementing a customer driven
learning system and an accountability system (Lynch 1997). Like earlier publications examining
general teacher education, the responses to the task force report focused on the need for excellence
in vocational teacher education.
Issues in Achieving Excellence
Debate on the question of how to pursue excellence in vocational teacher education programs
focused on vocational education s mission, audience, and delivery.
New Mission? Until the advent of the reform movement, vocational education had been viewed
as a separate system of education intended to meet the nation s labor needs by providing below
college level training for specific occupations (Lynch 1997). In the late 1980s, that view began to
change. Borrowing words used by Dewey in 1916, Tozer and Nelson (1988) urge vocational
teacher educators to teach prospective teachers to provide students with generalizable higher order
skills by teaching through vocations instead of for vocations (p. 22). Sharp (1996), in his discussion
of the transition to a post Fordist economy, asserts that the recent

CORPORATE BACKGROUND
Company History
First getting its corporate bearings on July 13, 1937 in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Krispy
Kreme Doughnuts have seen the many stages of financial gain and loss. Through the 1930 s and
1940 s the company saw regional growth and by the late 1950 s Krispy Kreme had opened 29 shops
in 12 states. 1960 marked an era where management Vernon Rudolph and Mike Harding began to
emphasize corporate standardization through its brand image. All Krispy Kreme shops were made

management expressed confidence in their company s potential. However, the management failed
to foresee the future.
The Yeast Fails to Rise (Weaknesses)
The second half of 2004 failed to meet the managements expectations made earlier in the year.
The company estimated diluted earnings per share of $1.16 for fiscal 2005; actual diluted
earnings were $0.93. The company expected sales would increase 25% in fiscal 2005; actual
systemwide sales increased 14.8%. The company divested the recently acquired Montana Mills
operation. It also closed six underperforming factory stores. In the hours following the
announcement of the financial loss, the company s stock dropped 20%. On May 25, 2004,
Krispy Kreme reported a $24.4 million loss for the first quarter of fiscal 2005. According to the
company, the poor performance was because of trendy low carb diets, and a $34 million write off
of its investment in Montana Mills. The stock was now down 37%. To make matters worse, the
company announced that the SEC was investigated shady accounting practices due to franchise
buybacks.

Ted Talk Essay
When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them,
but we can t live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish
someone could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All
Americans have many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don t even realize it.
Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar s TEDtalks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people
deal with them and their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have
negative effects. Schwartz explains what most people believe and experience with choice, while
Iyengar shows cultural differences in choice making. Both Schwartz and Iyengar... Show more

The second is the more choices the more likely that the best choice can be made, and the third
assumption is that you should never say no to choice. Iyengard evaluates these three
assumptions with various studies where one group is American and the other is another culture.
Her studies help understand why and how Americans make choices in comparison to the rest of
the world. Without doubt, Iyengard s studies and analysis on choice is interesting but Schwartz
s was clearer because it easily communicated the message that was more applicable to the public.
Choices are an important part of everyone s lives and the choices we make can reflex who we
are as individuals. Choice and the ability to choose are excellent and can represent a sense of
freedom. Schwartz s and Iyengard s analysis on choice focused on the effects of choice in people
and how people react and deal with it. Schwartz s Official Dogma and explanation of how
Americans act in response to choice making is the most relatable to individuals and clearly
chows the consequences of too much choice. His analysis can assist to people realize that maybe
because we have more choice doesn t necessarily mean we will make us happier or the best

Finding Zion In The Country
Finding Zion in the Country:
William Blake s Jerusalem
For the unsuspecting visitor to New York City, the notion of standing under the shadow of looming
skyscrapers, thrust into the pandemonium and din of the walkways, overwhelms and shocks. Yet,
for those more accustomed to city life, the disorder becomes normal, relegated to the everyday
challenges of modern life. Rarely in our busy and all too public lives do we take the time to
recognize that city life has all but removed any semblance of the natural world from our lives. In
1808, the world began to undergo a revolution. Unlike the revolution of the previous century, this
was not political revolution, but an economic revolution, the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial
Revolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the surface, the phrase simply references the cotton and flour mills that rose in to prominence
during the Industrial Revolution. These mills were one of the key achievements of the revolution,
representing man s ability to use technology to mass produce human goods. Yet, Blake saw that the
Mills also led to the repression and enslavement of workers, and perhaps equally importantly the
conquest of nature. These mills also represent the uniformity and homogeneity of European religion
and culture. The factory and mill represent the ultimate conformity, as men become machines,
simply cogs in the wheel of economic progress. Through out his life, Blake argued that the
European perspective on nature, individuality and spirituality often suppressed and stifled religious
growth. For Blake, industrialization and alienation from nature only serve to limit man s spiritual
prospects, casting him from heaven in to the dark satanic mills. After demonstrating the problems
with the current state of industrialized England, Blake turns to his focus to his solution. His goal is
to force the clouds [to] unfold, in other words, shift the focus back to nature so that England will be

Sources Of Alternative Energy Sources
Alternate Energy Sources
Alternative energy sources are becoming more and more popular. The most important alternative
energy sources are solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, ocean, and hydropower energies. Their main
advantage lies in the resumption of energy resources. This paper will give information about each
of sources as well as their advantages and disadvantages.
Solar energy
The Sun is a leading environmentally clean energy source. The process of generating electricity
from sunlight has been known for over a hundred years. Edmond Becquerel first observed the
photovoltaic effect in 1839 (Zamostny, p. 1). Through a series of experiments on electricity, he
plunged two metal electrodes in a conductive solution and exposed it to sunlight. As a result, there
was a small electrical voltage between electrodes.
Solar energy is used to produce electricity and heat water. The advantages of this energy are
noiseless, lack of air emissions, and renewability of source. The disadvantages of solar energy
include a dependence on solar power from the daily, seasonal position of the Sun, weather
conditions, and the need for large areas for the construction of solar power plants. Also, a serious
environmental problem is the use of toxic substances in the manufacture of solar cells that cause a
problem of their disposal.
Wind energy
A second alternative energy source is wind energy. It is used for electricity and actuates a windmill.
Inexhaustibility is the primary advantage of wind

A sugar solution and an empty hole in the agar were used as controls.
From the results, it is clear that all of the honeys had a large antimicrobial effect on the culture of
E.coli, much more so than the other cultures of bacteria. Their effects on Straphylococcus aureus
should also be noted. It is obvious that the clear honey had a negligible antimicrobial effect on all
bacterium tested, excepting the E.coli colony. This was to be expected; however, as clear honey
lacks the enzymes to create the non peroxide antimicrobial effects, caused by methylglyoxal, which
is present in manuka honey. Therefore as the varying types of honey were most effective on the
E.coli culture, it was selected for the main experiment.
Furthermore, during this preliminary testing I experimented with the varying colour filters in the
colourimeter, in order to establish which led to the most reliable and measurable results. The results
of this experiment was that the blue filter resulted in larger results, meaning that it allowed an
appropriate amount of light to reach the honey. Therefore the blue filter will be used in the main
experiments, as opposed to the red, green and orange filters.

Human Science And Natural Science
Disagreement may aid the pursuit of knowledge in the natural and human sciences because
disagreement leads to new discoveries. Disagreement is about gathering reliable knowledge as
well as using this newfound knowledge, and occurs when a group fails to reach a consensus over
the logic of an argument. Knowledge is composed of facts, information, and skills acquired by a
person through experience or education. Two areas of knowledge that are impacted by
disagreement are human scienceand natural science. Human science is the study of human
behavior and how humans gather information. Natural science is a branch of science that deals
with the physical world. In order for a disagreement to occur, one must be familiar with the
subject and have his or her own prediction that is different from the norm. Therefore, to advance
knowledge in the areas of human and natural science, people must disagree. The roles of logic,
reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are used to help gain new knowledge in
both human and natural science. Many knowledge claims in human and natural science are based
on theories. Jean Lamarck proposed the theory of evolutionin 1801. The theory of evolution
proposed by Lamarck was based on the idea that organisms had to change their behavior to
survive. For instance, if a giraffe stretched it neck for a long period of time to reach the leaves as
the top of the tree, then a nervous fluid would flow in the neck and make it longer. Thus, its

Reflection Paper On Restless Leg Syndrome
Chronic Disease Analytical Reflection Paper Introduction to Restless Leg Syndrome Willis
Ekbom Disease, commonly referred to as restless leg syndrome is a disorder of the nervous
sensory system that causes an uncomfortable urge to move the legs as defined by Sales,
Sanghera, Klocko, and Malcom (2016). These symptoms are majorly observed in the evening or
during nighttime when one assumes a resting position in bed. Consequently, they cause
difficulties in falling asleep. The interference in sleep makes resting leg syndrome be classified
as a sleep disorder. The symptom of resting leg syndrome may also appear when one is

Aesthetic Aspect People with a sedentary lifestyle, mostly the citizens of highly developed
countries, are known to take part in activities with less energy requirement and eat fat food.
Thus, there rises a need to encourage citizens to do daily exercises to reduce chances of
developing sedentary disorders. Socio political Aspect Alcohol and drug abuse are known to
aggravate the symptoms of multifactorial diseases. Washington and Zweber (2008) state that
alcohol is known to interfere with the pharmacokinetics, as well as the pharmacodynamics of
numerous drugs, including those used in the treatment of diabetes. Reduced effectiveness of the
drugs may aggravate the conditions. Finally, alcohol is known to penetrate the blood brain barrier
and thus, have an effect on the central nervous system. The governments thus need to tighten
laws that discourage citizens against drug usage. Personal Aspect With reduced quality of sleep
caused by restless leg syndrome, ethical problems appear, such as lack of concentration at work
place, as well as drowsiness during a social gathering. As a result, they may lead to reduced self
esteem of an individual suffering from restless leg syndrome. Ethical Aspect Similarly,
hyperactivity brought about by restless leg syndrome may compromise relationship between the

Theme Of The Bible
What would you say is the main theme of the Bible?
Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the King of the Jews, has been revealed to us in the Old Testament.
Scripture revealed to the people how and when the Messiah would come and what would happen
during His time on Earth. Isaiah 53 speaks of the pain and suffering that Jesus would endure for His
people yet He would not defend himself. After he had suffered He would see the Light of Life
and be satisfied. God s righteous servant would justify and bear the sins of many and would make
intersession for the transgressors. (NIV) Zechariah 9 declares the He is righteous, victorious, just
and a lowly King riding on a donkey. His rule shall be to the ends of the earth, proclaiming peace to
the nations. (NIV) The New Testament conveys His birth, ministry, death, resurrection and second
coming. I am in complete agreement with Bickle and Jantz, (1998, p. 61) statement that God sent
Jesus so that creation may know the Creator furthermore, that Jesus Christ is the theme of the Bible.

Cost Behavior Analysis
Types of Costs by Behavior
Cost behavior refers to the way different types of production costs change when there is a change
in level of production.
There are three main types of costs according to their behavior:
Fixed Costs:
Fixed costs are those which do not change with the level of activity within the relevant range. These
costs will incur even if no units are produced. For example rent expense, straight line depreciation
expense, etc.
Fixed cost per unit decreases with increase in production. Following example explains this fact:
Total Fixed Cost| $30,000| $30,000| $30,000| Г· Units Produced| 5,000| 10,000| 15,000| Fixed Cost
per Unit| $6.00| $3.00| $2.00|
Variable Costs:
Variable costs change in direct... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
at highest level of activity; and x1 are the number of units/labor hours etc. at lowest level of activity
In other words, variable cost per unit is equal to the slope of the cost volume line (i.e. change in
total cost Г· change in number of units produced).
Total Fixed Cost
Total fixed cost (a) is calculated using the following formula: Total Fixed Cost = y2 в€’ bx2 = y1
в€’ bx1|
High Low Method Example
Company О± wants to construct a cost volume relation between its factory overhead cost and
number of units produced. Use the high low method to analyze its factory overhead (FOH) costs
and build a cost volume formula. The volume and the corresponding total cost information of the
factory for past eight months are given below:
Month| Units| FOH| 1| 1,520| $36,375| 2| 1,250| 38,000| 3| 1,750| 41,750| 4| 1,600| 42,360| 5| 2,350|
55,080| 6| 2,100| 48,100| 7| 3,000| 59,000| 8| 2,750| 56,800|
Solution:
We have, x2 = 3,000 y2 = $59,000 x1 = 1,250 y1 = $38,000
Variable Cost per Unit = ( $59,000 в€’ $38,000 ) Г· ( 3,000 в€’ 1,250 ) = $12 per unit
Total Fixed Cost = $59,000 в€’ ( $12 Г
— 3,000 ) = $38,000 в€’ ( $12 Г
— 1,250 ) = $23,000

Juvenile Crime In Juveniles
There is an amplified rate of recurrence with which dangerous or habitual youthful offenders are
judged in criminal court and then imprisoned in adult prison. The biggest increase in youthful
offender crime has been among the youngest offenders. A juvenile is a young person, mostly a
child. In the early 1800s, children used to be judged in the identical court as adults. They were
exposed to the same conditions as adult offenders and even received the same penalties and
punishments. In 1822, an organization (society for the reformation of juvenile delinquent)
conducted research, which showed that the penitentiary system of the United States could not
fully cater to the specific needs of the juveniles. (Weis, Crutchfield Bridges, 2001) They further
suggested the invention of a different court for the juveniles. Towards the late 1800s, the United
States experienced a movement that advocated for a clear cut line to be drawn between adult and
juvenile offenders. (Mays Ruddell, 2012) More groups advocating for the same emerged, they
were arguing on a common fact, that children and adults are very unusual and bear distinctly
different levels of thinking. They were not perfect; there were reports of abuse and mistreatment.
In 1899, however, the Illinois Juvenile Court Act of 1899 was passed and the first Juvenile court
was established in that state. The act considered anyone under the age of sixteen years as a
Juvenile. It insisted on a rehabilitative approach to the solving of

Language And Development Of Language, Experience,...
Language plays a significant role in the process of transmitting knowledge and culture among
mankind. Everyone learns a language at the early stages of life. From birth to seven years, a
tremendous development of language skills is seen in a child. The essay states the various
developmental phases of phonetics, morphology, semantics and syntax in a child. The behaviourist
and cognitive theories states that nature and nurture plays a vital role in this process. The essay also
throws light on the importance of culture, experience, maturation and readiness with the aid of
theories laid by Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget.
Language is explained as the communication among human beings. Human communication can be
either spoken or written ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this stage a child even begins to grasp the
meaning of short phrases such as #39;give me #39;, do not touch #39; and the like. In the next
phase of language
development, the child articulates words. The child picks up simple words from its surroundings
and that which may be taught him. He associates the words with its meaning (Kuhl et al., 2016).
The development of semantic skills take place here. In the later phase, sentence formation begins. In
the beginning, grammar and the conventional way of sentence structure is lacked. From here
commences the syntactic development in an individual. Through experiences and expressions, the
child unknowingly adapts to the accepted grammar and conventional sentence construction rules of
its language ((Bloom, 1993). By the age of four a child speaks and understands his language clearly.
A child is inspired by surroundings to develop its language skills. He or she imitates and reacts to
the sounds around them. B. F. Skinner, one of the pioneers of behaviourism, emphasizes the role of
environment in language development (Sommerville, 2006). He argues that a child learns words by
associating it with meanings. The word #39;cat #39; brings the idea of that particular animal in the
child #39;s
mind. Children imitate words and sentences used by parents and elders. According to him, children
learn language on the basis of reinforcement principles. Adults surrounding them, especially parents
and siblings, correct and

Florence Nightingale Contribution
Florence Nightingale has long been considered the mother of modern nursing. Despite the social
barriers placed before women during the 1800s, something in Florence s character allowed her to
rise that few could have foreseen. Many influential figures in the past have pondered on the idea of
greatness. As Thomas Carlyle once stated, The history of the world is but the biography of great
men. Clearly, Carlyle s thought was narrow minded, as the biography of Florence Nightingale
shows that the history of the world also encompasses the formation of great women. Connecting
some of the pivotal points in the life of this great woman will lend a fuller picture to our own
history, as well as our own formation.
Florence Nightingales father imbued a progressive and philanthropic ideology within Florence from
a young age. Fortunately for Florence, her father was very much in support of education for
women, as well as their advancement within society. Her father taught her, as well as her sister,
music; grammar; composition; modern languages; classical Greek and Latin; constitutional history
and Roman, Italian, German, and Turkish history; and mathematics (page 36).
Additionally, her father seemed to place great emphasis on critical and experimental thinking.
Florence s penchant for independence in this regard is exemplified in the sketch drawn by her aunt,
Julia Smith, which depicts Florence with her sister, Parthenope, as well as her father walking down
the street. Whereas

Incarnational Ministry Essay
The incarnational ministry approach to New Age adherents should reflect a servanthood mentality,
which is evident of Lausanne s paper. The foundational roots of the Lausanne Movement dates back
to the historical conference in Edinburg (1910) and Berlin (1966). The Lausanne Movement surface
under the leadership of the evangelist Billy Graham during the First International Congress World
Evangelization. The gathering of this movement continue to produce believers from different part
of the earth to bring about a united front under the function of the Holy
Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one who guarantees God s redeeming work in the lives of believers.

The movement that orchestra a forum would not have been accomplish without the Holy Spirit.
The LOP noted the movement of the forum with a theme promoting a new vision, new heart, and
renewed call. In other words, metaphorically speaking, a year has four season and in each season;
there is a reason for change. Therefore, LOP is parallel to the incarnation ministry of God.
Incarnation means that God the Son took on human nature that Jesus was God in human flesh,
which develop into a mission to reach God s people. Furthermore, the LOP adhere to the
different models serving a purpose to exalt the name of Jesus Christ drawing people to the
existence of God. Coincidently, LOP recognize certain apologetics models such as: personal
testimonies, spiritual welfare, and heresy rationalist were portrayed as fabricating the truth of
personal experience, practices, and beliefs, indicating a falsehood of ministry. God is not in the
business of falsehood, but silicifying disciples in the like manner of Jesus Christ into the world.
God s ministry has to be about truth at all times with a productive approach as a witness of Jesus
Christ and making a difference in a non believer s life. The approach LOP mention is to be
carefully examine. The LOP mention the

Tenant Education
Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by
Matthew Desmond, it is stated that landlords in the city of Milwaukee evict roughly 16,000 adults
and children each year, amounting to approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court
system, and many more removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across
America have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their
money and their relationships with landlords in order to avoid eviction. Tenant education is
certainly not a bad thing, but is not a complete solution to the problems it attempts to address,
because it does not address the landlords roles in housing disputes and because... Show more

Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment, starting with almost
no unemployment in the postwar years to having an unemployment rate in the double digits,
partially due to an exodus of manufacturing jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in
the service sector rather than unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many
parts of America, many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how
much knowledge they are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have to
somehow help the tenants find safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure their knowledge
can then be applied to stay housed in the long term. In Evicted, Arleen is not depicted doing
anything that would seem substantial to get her evicted, unless it is to be considered her fault that a
man kicked down her door when her sons threw snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). However, it is
revealed that Arleen and her children have been without a home many times (Desmond 3). Arleen
and tenants like her will not benefit substantially from participation in tenant education programs,
because their problems do not come from ignorance, but from the

that are still unknown today. How can someone treat social anxiety? Some of the most common
ways to treat social anxiety is therapy. But, there is multiple types of therapy. Like there is

Free Cash Flow and Butler
Introduction Butler Capital Partners (Butler) is an investment fund founded in 1990. Butler closed
its first private equity fund, European Strategic Fund, in 1991. This first fund was mainly
focusing on small family owned enterprises and on divisions of larger companies. Mainly of his
first success he closed in 1998 his second fund, Private Equity II, and Butler became one of the
largest independent funds in France. With his second fund he would focus on investments in
France on a larger scale. On April 29, 1999, a new investment opportunity arose for Butler:
Autodistribution (AD). AD is an entrepreneurial firm and has become the largest independent
automotive parts wholesaler in France by the end of the 1990s. This report starts... Show more

Butler found some important development opportunities for AD: (1) an increase in penetration rate
of AD s CBU among the affiliates by setting up an efficient IT system for purchasing, (2) external
growth opportunities in France by integration of affiliates or acquisitions of independent
wholesalers, (3) expansion opportunities in Europe provided by the fragmentation of the industry,
(4) low competition on acquisitions because of the lack of players able to afford a dynamic build up
strategy, (5) strong growth potential of industrial supplies segment and (6) potential of development
of fleet maintenance and agreements with insurance companies. These opportunities will result in
an increase in gross margins through acquisition of independent wholesalers and integration of
affiliated wholesalers. Furthermore, a reduction of operation costs can be the result, because of the
IT system. With the existence of an efficient IT system, the margins can be improved or the prices
can be cut and these effects are even stronger with consolidation / expanding in the European
market. Besides these opportunities there is an opportunity for an e business market. Butler stated
this as В‘one edge over the competitors . Thus by expanding the business (through e business,
acquisitions, integration) and making use of the new technology systems, AD could realize
significant margin improvement. These high margin improvements are expected to increase from
32.3% in 1999 to

Ak-47
The AK 47
The AK 47 is not just simply another gun, it is much, much more. It is an ongoing legacy of one
mans innovation to the small arms market and a national symbol. In a time of changing warfare,
a weapon was needed to work efficiently at and within a range of 300 meters. This weapon
needed the accuracy and control of the longer barreled rifles but also the power and automatic fire
of a sub machine gun. This lead to a hybrid being created, in the form of the assault rifle (Poyer, Joe
2004).
In the years around 1944 a handful of assault rifles were created, such as the Sturmgewehr 44 or
StG44 (German), The M1 Grand (American) and The SKS (Russian). But the most memorable and
arguably the best is the AK 47 or Kalashnikov. The AK 47... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

the ease of production verses the clinical M16 with jammed repeatedly, causing stoppages and
therefore the ability not to fire.

The fact that she is a woman religious who writes from a feminist perspective adds to her unique and distinguished career. This paper will examine the revisionist method espoused by Elizabeth Johnson, in an effort to understand her approach to Christian feminism. An overview of revisionist methodology will be presented so as to understand the framework in which Johnson works. References to some of Johnson!s writings will then be presented in an effort to illustrate her revisionist method. Finally a survey of various critics will then be presented in an effort to determine what has made her method, approach and style groundbreaking in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon crashing each of these waves paved the way for the next. As one reviewer notes: The still abstract recovery of the humanity of Jesus opened the way to a consideration of the concrete history and story of Jesus of Nazareth. Attentiveness to the specific ministry of Jesus led to a new appreciation of the contemporary context and challenge of discipleship. Sensitivity to the actual experience of following Jesus today raised new questions about the meaning of salvation in Christ for the poor, for women, for people of color. The everexpanding encounter of world religions posed anew the issue of Christ as universal savior.10 The third wave, with the view of Jesus as liberator, would give rise to liberation theology. Johnson outlines six basic characteristics of liberation theology: recognition of an oppressed group; action on behalf of justice; our relatedness to one another; use of social analysis; changing the unjust situation and the vision that the reign of God is already arriving.11 Johnson then highlights the three part method of liberation theology: the oppressive situation is recognized; then the Christian tradition is analyzed for what may have contributed to the tradition and finally the Christian tradition is searched for elements that would yield a new understanding and a new practice that would be liberating.12 ... However, music plays an enormous role in our psychology, because a single song has the ability to bring about many kinds of thoughts and emotions in the listener. Music is subtly one of the main factors in which people identify with certain groups and establish their belonging in society. It shapes people s perspectives on how the world functions and the roles they play within it. Musiccan function the same way in a culture; it can reflect many of the cultures values and ideologies. Music can also be a differentiating factor for social and economic classes. In lecture twelve (Roma music), the clear distinction between the romungre and vlachs musicals groups proved that music influenced this separation. The types of instruments used, or lack of, tell of the people s standing in the social and economic ladders. For instance, romungre music is professional, urban, and was played in elaborate settings. In the video excerpt shown during lecture, the well dressed man played the violin, while the other members played other various instruments such as the cimbalom and piano. As Luke was not an eyewitness for the events he describes, he was dependent on previous writings such as the Gospel of Mark. The purpose of the Gospel of Luke is to communicate the life and teachings of Jesusin a way that promotes the significance of God and his divine nature. Luke makes an effort to make his readings relatable to readers from different religious, ethnic, and social backgrounds. His last words before his crucifixion were Father, into your hands I commend my spirit are notable to the readers of Luke as they show the calm resolution of Jesus despite his plea of innocence, further displaying the admirable characteristics he possesses. Luke ends his gospel with the resurrection of Jesus, and uses the story to further convince his audience of Christianity. If Jesus had only died and never been resurrected, his death would have been like the normal death of a human. However, through his resurrection he is further established as someone free of sin, and rewarded for his demeanor with life after death. To readers of the Gospel, not only does the resurrection persuade believers in life again after death, (a tempting philosophy for his audience to believe in), but also shows that Jesus has survived and is still there to help believers in his faith. • 9. Difference Between Prospect Theory And Prospect Theory INTRODUCTION Generally, it is believed the net effect of the gains and losses involved with each choice are combined to present an overall evaluation of whether a choice is desirable. Scholars tend to use utility to state enjoyment and contend that we prefer instances that maximize our utility. However, studies have found that we don t actually process information in such a rational way. Kahneman and Tversky presented an idea called prospect theory in 1979, which contends that people value gains and losses differently, and, as such, will base decisions on perceived profits rather than perceived losses. Thus, if a person were given two equal choices, one expressed in terms of possible gains and the other in possible losses, people would choose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many view Wall Street in a negative light because they seem to be living in an elite exclusive parallel world, where they are untouched by the economic disasters they cause. In some way they really are living in a parallel world, in the sense that Wall Street has its own culture that is separate from other surrounding cultures. In Biographies of Hegemony author Karen Ho explores this sub culture especially focusing on their recruitment methodology. One of the parts of their culture is the word smart which means something different to them. Smartness implies that recruits standardize themselves and Investment Bankscustomize themselves in order to be impressive to each other and because Wall Street s business relies on impressiveness. The recruits have to tailor themselves to find into a box, model of the ideal candidate , that Investment Banks are looking for. To be hired employers and recruiters need to ensure that they fit into the Wall Street Lifestyle, the expensiveness, the exclusivity, and the impressiveness. However, in Earth s history, there have been five big mass extinction events, characterized as periods in Earth s history when abnormally large numbers of species die out simultaneously or within a limited time frame. (BBC) These events are cataclysmic enough to wipeout at least 50% of all organisms living during that period. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the span of 50 years, the population of humans on this planet have reached all time highs and continue to rise and with this rise comes the effects of overpopulation. The planet cannot sustain so many people during such a short span of time. Not only is there a loss of space for new generations of humans to live on, but there has been an excessive use of natural resources before there is a chance to replenish them such as food, natural gases, and water. The problem of overpopulation seems to truly encompasses all other aspects of the factors leading to the sixth mass extinction such as habitat loss and global warming. The population must be feed and because of this, million upon millions of acres of land once inhabited by a whole ecosystem have been converted to farmland to provide food for the growing population. In addition, the increase in leads to an increase in waste and therein arises a problem: where to put the waste. • 14. Compare And Contrast Popular Mechanics And A Good Man Is... In life, sometimes random events will lead to one s death. These two stories, Popular Mechanics and A Good Man is Hard to Find , both portray this idea. Popular Mechanics, written by Raymond Carver, has a baby torn apart by its own mother and father s hate for one another. The mother randomly saw the picture of the child and took it, and this stirred up emotions in the both of them. Enough emotions to stop paying attention to the child s well being. A Good Man is Hard to Find is written by Flannery O Connor, and in it a familyof six crash because of their cat, and a murderer of a sort drives by randomly, eventually leading to the deathof them all. In these two stories, both the important characters die in the climax, and both characters, baby and cat, are catalysis in the story. The style of each story is negative writing and destructive in nature. Both Popular Mechanics and A Good Man is Hard to Find both have very similar climaxes. In each story, a character dies as the main point within it, leading to the reader having to interpret their death. The misfit sprang back as if a snake had bitten him and he shot her three times through the chest. Then he put his gun down in the ground and took off his glasses and began to clean them. (O Connor, p.122) This clearly shows the misfits attitude towards death and the killing of others. A part of the disconnection of her death is that the misfit naturally enjoys to kill, and does not have a connection to her. She reaches out to him, and he later cleans off his glasses like she was just another dead person. This is unlike Popular Mechanics in that the killers care for the one they kill. She caught the baby around the wrist and leaned back...He felt the baby slipping out of his hands and he pulled back very hard. In this manner, the issue was decided. (Carver p.125) Both of the parents love their baby, however the hatred for one another has blinded them and in the end it destroys it. The ending is left to one s interpretation, but the baby most likely died given how fragile they are and how aggressive the mother and father were. • 15. The Pit And The Pendulum By Edgar Allen Poe ...All sensations appeared swallowed up in a mad rushing of the soul into Hades. Then silence, and stillness, night were the universe. This quote from The Pit and the Pendulum is an excellent example of how Edgar Allen Poe is a master at using point of view, setting, and conflict to display the thematic message of fearin his short stories. This example uses all three literary strategies. The setting contributes to the theme of fear by stating that the soul was descending to Hades, the Greek god of the underworld, or hell, a place that will almost definitely draw a fear response in the reader. He uses conflict by having the reader infer that the story is about a dying person, and so on. He finds unique ways to do this with all types of literary strategies, but most prominently with point of view, setting and conflict. He especially uses point of view in a unique way, making the narrator either mentally unstable or having some other unusual ailment. Therefore, after thorough analysis of both The Black Cat and The Pit and the Pendulum, it is clear that Edgar Allen Poe is a master at using setting, conflict, and point of view to help display the unique thematic message of fear throughout almost all of his literary works. Firstly, Poe uses setting to convey the theme of fear in The Black Cat and The Pit and the Pendulum . In The Black Cat , the climax of the story takes place in a cellar. The Factors And Negative Consequences Of Police Porruption Police corruption has negative consequences on the society, thus, it is important to investigate the factors that cause police corruption. The present essay aims to explore the factors that cause police corruption and its intervention. Police corruption is believed to be an organisational deviance rather than an individual misbehaviour. Policeofficers are considered clean when they join the police organisation and their deviant behaviours might be induced by police culture. The reason the term claimed is used is due to the fact that this particular dish may be believed to have originated in many other countries as well. As such, the recipe, and more specifically the ingredients used, will most likely differ based upon the country and region that it is originated from. With regard to the Cuban version of chicken soup, the same is comprised of thirteen (13) ingredients, to wit: olive (oil); onion (red and green); cilantro; cumin (ground); wheat (flour); chicken (stock and thigh); cassava; calabash; potato (red); plantain; lemon (juice); salt; and, pepper. Notwithstanding the fact that these ingredients are customarily used to make the Cuban version of chicken soup, these same ingredients were not all domesticated in the region that Cuba is located in. For example, Cuba is located in the Caribbean region. Out of the thirteen (13) ingredients mentioned, only one ingredient is native to said region calabash. In the instance of the films Rebecca, which was directed by Alfred Hitchcock and It Happened One Night, which was directed by Frank Capra, each portray different aspects of the theatre industry. The year that It Happened One Night came to theatres, the production code administration was approved that same year, which lined out all of the rules of how Hollywood directors should direct their movies and what they were and were not allowed to show in their movies, such as specific aspects about marriage or the lack of a marital commitment. Many differences can be seen within the two previously mentioned movies including character depth, different uses of framing, and uses of lighting. Each of these aspects creates a different meaning for each of the films, which helps further the plot and engage the viewers. A Formal Analysis of Death Mask Based on Gold Death Mask from Mycenae, Grave Circle A, Shaft Grave IV circa 1550 BC The Greek Exhibition section of The Royal Ontario Museum houses this replica, one made by an unknown artist, of an original, gold funeral mask said to be a depiction of the face of the Mycenaean King, Agamemnon. Known widely as the Death Mask of Agamemnon, the original artefact dates to 1550 BC, which corresponds with the Greek Bronze Age when metals were being worked due to technological advancements in various urban societies of the world. It is a marvel of craftsmanship as much as of cultural and technological prowess of that age since the original was made from a single sheet of almost pure gold. Discovered in a burial site labelled Grave Circle A, shaft Grave IV on the citadel of Mycenae by an archaeologist named Henrich Schliemann (1876), the original mask has been claimed to belong to the grave of King Agamemnon of Mycenae. This claim has since been questioned for it verity since the grave was likely dug as much as three centuries before Agamemnon is thought to have lived and ruled. Nevertheless, the death mask has an aura of romance and mystery about it since it reveals so much about the cultural and social practices of the civilization of Mycenae, who like other ancients such as the Egyptians made funerary masks for their powerful and wealthy dead. These mills were one of the key achievements of the revolution, representing man s ability to use technology to mass produce human goods. These mills also represent the uniformity and homogeneity of European religion and culture. The factory and mill represent the ultimate conformity, as men become machines, simply cogs in the wheel of economic progress. Through out his life, Blake argued that the European perspective on nature, individuality and spirituality often suppressed and stifled religious growth. For Blake, industrialization and alienation from nature only serve to limit man s spiritual prospects, casting him from heaven in to the dark satanic mills. The most important alternative energy sources are solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, ocean, and hydropower energies. Their main advantage lies in the resumption of energy resources. This paper will give information about each of sources as well as their advantages and disadvantages. Solar energy The Sun is a leading environmentally clean energy source. The process of generating electricity from sunlight has been known for over a hundred years. Edmond Becquerel first observed the photovoltaic effect in 1839 (Zamostny, p. 1). Through a series of experiments on electricity, he plunged two metal electrodes in a conductive solution and exposed it to sunlight. As a result, there was a small electrical voltage between electrodes. Solar energy is used to produce electricity and heat water. The advantages of this energy are noiseless, lack of air emissions, and renewability of source. The disadvantages of solar energy include a dependence on solar power from the daily, seasonal position of the Sun, weather conditions, and the need for large areas for the construction of solar power plants. Also, a serious environmental problem is the use of toxic substances in the manufacture of solar cells that cause a problem of their disposal. Wind energy A second alternative energy source is wind energy. It is used for electricity and actuates a windmill. Inexhaustibility is the primary advantage of wind ... This was to be expected; however, as clear honey lacks the enzymes to create the non peroxide antimicrobial effects, caused by methylglyoxal, which is present in manuka honey. Therefore as the varying types of honey were most effective on the E.coli culture, it was selected for the main experiment. Furthermore, during this preliminary testing I experimented with the varying colour filters in the colourimeter, in order to establish which led to the most reliable and measurable results. The results of this experiment was that the blue filter resulted in larger results, meaning that it allowed an appropriate amount of light to reach the honey. • 34. Human Science And Natural Science Disagreement may aid the pursuit of knowledge in the natural and human sciences because disagreement leads to new discoveries. Disagreement is about gathering reliable knowledge as well as using this newfound knowledge, and occurs when a group fails to reach a consensus over the logic of an argument. Knowledge is composed of facts, information, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education. Two areas of knowledge that are impacted by disagreement are human scienceand natural science. Human science is the study of human behavior and how humans gather information. Natural science is a branch of science that deals with the physical world. In order for a disagreement to occur, one must be familiar with the subject and have his or her own prediction that is different from the norm. Therefore, to advance knowledge in the areas of human and natural science, people must disagree. The roles of logic, reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are used to help gain new knowledge in both human and natural science. Many knowledge claims in human and natural science are based on theories. Jean Lamarck proposed the theory of evolutionin 1801. The theory of evolution proposed by Lamarck was based on the idea that organisms had to change their behavior to survive. There are three main types of costs according to their behavior: Fixed Costs: Fixed costs are those which do not change with the level of activity within the relevant range. These costs will incur even if no units are produced. For example rent expense, straight line depreciation expense, etc. Fixed cost per unit decreases with increase in production. Following example explains this fact: Total Fixed Cost| $30,000| $30,000| $30,000| Г· Units Produced| 5,000| 10,000| 15,000| Fixed Cost per Unit| $6.00| $3.00| $2.00| Variable Costs: Variable costs change in direct... Total Fixed Cost Total fixed cost (a) is calculated using the following formula: Total Fixed Cost = y2 в€’ bx2 = y1 в€’ bx1| High Low Method Example Company О± wants to construct a cost volume relation between its factory overhead cost and number of units produced. Use the high low method to analyze its factory overhead (FOH) costs and build a cost volume formula. The volume and the corresponding total cost information of the factory for past eight months are given below: Month| Units| FOH| 1| 1,520| $36,375| 2| 1,250| 38,000| 3| 1,750| 41,750| 4| 1,600| 42,360| 5| 2,350| 55,080| 6| 2,100| 48,100| 7| 3,000| 59,000| 8| 2,750| 56,800| Solution: We have, x2 = 3,000 y2 = $59,000 x1 = 1,250 y1 = $38,000 Variable Cost per Unit = ( $59,000 в€’ $38,000 ) Г· ( 3,000 в€’ 1,250 ) = $12 per unit Total Fixed Cost = $59,000 в€’ ( $12 Г — 3,000 ) = $38,000 в€’ ( $12 Г — 1,250 ) = $23,000 Cost Volume Formula: y = $23,000 + 12x Scatter Graph Method Scatter graph method is a graphical technique of separating fixed and ... • 39. Juvenile Crime In Juveniles There is an amplified rate of recurrence with which dangerous or habitual youthful offenders are judged in criminal court and then imprisoned in adult prison. The biggest increase in youthful offender crime has been among the youngest offenders. A juvenile is a young person, mostly a child. In the early 1800s, children used to be judged in the identical court as adults. They were exposed to the same conditions as adult offenders and even received the same penalties and punishments. In 1822, an organization (society for the reformation of juvenile delinquent) conducted research, which showed that the penitentiary system of the United States could not fully cater to the specific needs of the juveniles. (Weis, Crutchfield Bridges, 2001) They further suggested the invention of a different court for the juveniles. Towards the late 1800s, the United States experienced a movement that advocated for a clear cut line to be drawn between adult and juvenile offenders. (Mays Ruddell, 2012) More groups advocating for the same emerged, they were arguing on a common fact, that children and adults are very unusual and bear distinctly different levels of thinking. They were not perfect; there were reports of abuse and mistreatment. In 1899, however, the Illinois Juvenile Court Act of 1899 was passed and the first Juvenile court was established in that state. The act considered anyone under the age of sixteen years as a Juvenile. It insisted on a rehabilitative approach to the solving of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The essay states the various developmental phases of phonetics, morphology, semantics and syntax in a child. The behaviourist and cognitive theories states that nature and nurture plays a vital role in this process. From this stage a child even begins to grasp the meaning of short phrases such as #39;give me #39;, do not touch #39; and the like. In the next phase of language development, the child articulates words. The child picks up simple words from its surroundings and that which may be taught him. He associates the words with its meaning (Kuhl et al., 2016). The development of semantic skills take place here. In the later phase, sentence formation begins. In the beginning, grammar and the conventional way of sentence structure is lacked. From here commences the syntactic development in an individual. Through experiences and expressions, the child unknowingly adapts to the accepted grammar and conventional sentence construction rules of its language ((Bloom, 1993). By the age of four a child speaks and understands his language clearly. A child is inspired by surroundings to develop its language skills. He or she imitates and reacts to the sounds around them. B. F. Skinner, one of the pioneers of behaviourism, emphasizes the role of environment in language development (Sommerville, 2006). He argues that a child learns words by

  • 42. Florence Nightingale Contribution Florence Nightingale has long been considered the mother of modern nursing. Despite the social barriers placed before women during the 1800s, something in Florence s character allowed her to rise that few could have foreseen. Many influential figures in the past have pondered on the idea of greatness. As Thomas Carlyle once stated, The history of the world is but the biography of great men. Clearly, Carlyle s thought was narrow minded, as the biography of Florence Nightingale shows that the history of the world also encompasses the formation of great women. Connecting some of the pivotal points in the life of this great woman will lend a fuller picture to our own history, as well as our own formation. Florence Nightingales father imbued a progressive and philanthropic ideology within Florence from a young age. Fortunately for Florence, her father was very much in support of education for women, as well as their advancement within society. Her father taught her, as well as her sister, music; grammar; composition; modern languages; classical Greek and Latin; constitutional history and Roman, Italian, German, and Turkish history; and mathematics (page 36). Additionally, her father seemed to place great emphasis on critical and experimental thinking. Florence s penchant for independence in this regard is exemplified in the sketch drawn by her aunt, Julia Smith, which depicts Florence with her sister, Parthenope, as well as her father walking down the street. • 44. Tenant Education Tenant Education: a Treatment, not a Cure In Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond, it is stated that landlords in the city of Milwaukee evict roughly 16,000 adults and children each year, amounting to approximately 16 families evicted daily through the court system, and many more removed by other, even less pleasant means (4). Many communities across America have started to offer tenant education programs to teach renters how to manage their money and their relationships with landlords in order to avoid eviction. Tenant education is certainly not a bad thing, but is not a complete solution to the problems it attempts to address, because it does not address the landlords roles in housing disputes and because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Desmond describes in Evicted Milwaukee s remarkable decline in employment, starting with almost no unemployment in the postwar years to having an unemployment rate in the double digits, partially due to an exodus of manufacturing jobs. The remaining jobs paid less, since they were in the service sector rather than unemployment (24). With the decline in well paying jobs in many parts of America, many tenants will not have the money to pay the rent no matter what and how much knowledge they are given about how to manage it. An effective program would have to somehow help the tenants find safe housing, initial funding, and a job to ensure their knowledge can then be applied to stay housed in the long term. In Evicted, Arleen is not depicted doing anything that would seem substantial to get her evicted, unless it is to be considered her fault that a man kicked down her door when her sons threw snowballs at his car (Desmond 2). However, it is revealed that Arleen and her children have been without a home many times (Desmond 3). Arleen and tenants like her will not benefit substantially from participation in tenant education programs, because their problems do not come from ignorance, but from the ... These opportunities will result in an increase in gross margins through acquisition of independent wholesalers and integration of affiliated wholesalers. Furthermore, a reduction of operation costs can be the result, because of the IT system. With the existence of an efficient IT system, the margins can be improved or the prices can be cut and these effects are even stronger with consolidation / expanding in the European market. Besides these opportunities there is an opportunity for an e business market. Butler stated this as В‘one edge over the competitors . In a time of changing warfare, a weapon was needed to work efficiently at and within a range of 300 meters. This weapon needed the accuracy and control of the longer barreled rifles but also the power and automatic fire of a sub machine gun. This lead to a hybrid being created, in the form of the assault rifle (Poyer, Joe 2004). In the years around 1944 a handful of assault rifles were created, such as the Sturmgewehr 44 or StG44 (German), The M1 Grand (American) and The SKS (Russian).
