Compare And Contrast Byronic Heros From Hamlet
A Byronic hero is an antihero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare
wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even though
these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in
common: their main characters were Byronic heroes. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from
Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because
each has a troubled backstory, each is an anti hero, both are criminals, have high intelligence and
useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to
experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s
father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his
mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White is fifty year
old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up every day.
He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife
and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a
multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousand dollars. Then to
make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday.

Cormac Mccarthy Research Paper
Cormac McCarthy was born in Rhode Island on July 20, 1933. He is the third of six children (the
eldest son) born to Charles Joseph and Gladys Christina McGrail McCarthy (he has two brothers and
three sisters). Originally named Charles (after his father), he renamed himself Cormac after the Irish
King (another source says that McCarthy s family was responsible for legally changing his name to
the Gaelic equivalent of son of Charles ).
In 1937, when he was four, the family moved to Knoxville, and his father became a lawyer for the
Tennessee Valley Authority (legal staff 1934 67; chief counsel 1958 67). In 1967, the McCarthys
moved from Knoxville to Washington, D.C., where Charles was the principal attorney in a law firm
until his retirement.

New Imperialism Effects
The economic effects of new imperialism seeped throughout the world. The European countries
standard of living increased since people s income elevated above the subsistence level. These
countries thrived. According to political economist John Stuart Mill, the European s imperialism of
free trade over African regions, led to improvement in the process of production in every extension of
the market. These European countries had an altogether disproportionate share of the wealth and
traffic of the world, at the expense of the distant African countries. The imperialist economies
prospered, and even today still be some of the most financially stable areas. The opposite is quite true
as well. The financially abused states had their resources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New Imperialism called for a system of administration where the dominance of the home country was
esteemed. Made easier by the fact that Africa in the nineteenth century was not unified, European
nationalists capitalized on the lack of cohesion in Africa during the nineteenth century and overcame
small villages with their intimidating and structured way of government. Great Britain established a
protectorate in Egypt which practically synonymous with ownership. In a protectorate, the dominant
country takes the other country under its protection to retain its ownership from other powers.
Colonial governments were also created, meaning that the citizens of the imperialist power would
leave to go live in the new territory as permanent settlers, while still considering themselves under the
rule of the imperialist power. Western European countries affected the developments of people within
their spheres of influence, which directly correlates with the size of the country s territory, even
though no formal authority reigned over the natives of these lands. Having control over, or practically
owning, more territory served as a powerful symbol since the highly regarded sphere of influence
grew. A growing obsession with the popularity of new imperialism led to corruption. European

Fischer Esterification
Fischer Esterification of (1,3 Dimethylbutyl) Acetate from 4 Methyl 2 Pentanol Alison Evans Anne
Richards TA: Dylan Kahl Tuesday 11:30am 2:20pm 81807 Abstract: An ester was synthesized during
an organic reaction and identified by IR spectroscopy and boiling point. Acetic acid was added to 4
methyl 2 pentanol, which was catalyzed by sulfuric acid. This produced the desired ester and water.
After the ester was isolated a percent yield of 55.1% was calculated from the 0.872 g of ester
recovered. This quantitative error was most likely due to product getting stuck in the apparatus. The
boiling point of the ester was 143° C, only one degree off from the theoretical boiling point of the
ester 1,3 dimethylbutyl, 144 ° C. The values of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If necessary the centrifuge can also be used to further separate the two layers. A final means of drying
the ester product is the addition of granular sodium sulfate. The purity and identity of the product can
be determined through the use of smell, IR spectroscopy and melting point determination. A general
idea of what the ester is can be obtained by smell. Esters can have specific smells and if the scent can
be determined, one may have an idea of the ester was created. IR spectroscopy will identify the bonds
of the functional groups. The ester can be considered pure if there are no additional peaks on the IR
spectrum. For example, if a peak corresponding to an alcohol group appeared on the IR spectrum it
would mean the ester is not completely pure. Melting point can also be used to confirm the identity
and how pure the final product is. Comparison of the experimental melting point and the literature
value allows for determination of how close the experimental value is to the literature value. If the
experimental value is within the range of the literature value, the product can be considered pure.
Procedure: A 10 mL round bottom flask was weighed both before and after approximately 1.5 mL of
the given alcohol, 4 methyl 2 pentanol, was added. 3 mL of glacial acetic acid, one boiling chip, and 2
3 drops of concentrated sulfuric acid were added to the flask in that order. The reflux apparatus was
assembled, the

The Impact Of World War One ( Wwi )
The Home Front is often overlooked when discussing the impact of World War One (WWI), as the
impact is often less glorified when compared to the bloodshed of the battlefields. This exhibition looks
at life in Australia during WWI and explores the experiences of those away from the actual fighting
who are at home. By extensively using primary sources and brief profiles of both notable and
everyday Australians during WWI, the exhibit gives a holistic view on life in Australia during the
Great War. The exhibit focuses on the themes of the initial excitement of those in Australia when the
war began, technology advancements, how the public received news of the war and their reaction to it,
as well as the sense of growing disillusionment that developed as the war progressed. It
comprehensively looks at these experiences and emotions and describes them with clarity.
When first entering the exhibit, the wall displays a quote from the Sydney Morning Herald, stating
that the war was our baptism of fire... it will test our manhood and womanhood... even though we
never hear a shot fired . This is then coupled with the exhibit describing the excitement felt by many
Australian s as the war promised an adventure. This excitement is explored throughout the exhibition
as it describes how Australian s put their lives on hold for the war effort. The exhibit accurately
describes this initial excitement, and portrays the wide range of emotions felt by those in Australia.

Being An American Born Chinese Essay
Being an American born Chinese comes with advantages along with many difficulties to match it.
While there are benefits such as better education than my parents who immigrated from Vietnam and
Malaysia, I am considered a bit of an outcast in the Chinese community. Sure, I identify as Chinese,
but am I really Chinese? I am fortunate enough to have family members who don t let me forget my
roots by celebrating Chinese festivities and eating Chinese food on an almost daily basis. Despite all
of this, I sometimes feel as if I m an imposter as I tend to be more American than Chinese. I was born
and raised in America so I am naturally accustomed to the customs and traditions here, but when you

In a world where pollution has become an increasing problem, doing our best as residents to use only
the resources that are needed and decreasing pollutants is a way to hopefully slow down the process of
global warming. To do this, some people have been using alternate forms of energy such as wind,
solar, and hydro. The advancements in these forms of energy to make it cheaper for the public to
purchase has been a big step in keeping our world safe for inhabitants. Hangzhou, in particular, is well
known for having an efficient public transportation network consisting of hybrid diesel electric buses,
China Railway High speed, and public bike rentals. Major streets even have dedicated bike lanes as
many prefer to ride their bicycles or electric scooters. These methods lead to fewer cars on the roads,
thus improving air quality and reduces greenhouse gases. Being a place with great knowledge about
clean energy science, I believe Hangzhou is a notable place to learn why it is important for us, as a
society, to be aware of environmental protection and expand our knowledge of renewable

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao Museum
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Before the mid twentieth century, museums in Europe and the United States were generally planned in
variations of the neoclassical style. But, the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao moved the heading of
gallery outlines, which gave an extensive show venue to twentieth century and modern art, designed
by the famous architect Frank Gehry. Architecture is important nowadays to the public, because it
offers a physical surrounding environment in where we live in. Moreover, architecture is not only
affected by the culture, but also by the economy of the country.
Frank Gehry is one of the handful modern architects that are worldwide known by his inventive and
pioneering work. The American Canadian architect was born Frank Owen Goldberg in Toronto,
Canada on February 28, 1929, based in Los Angeles since 1962. He studied architecture at the
University of Southern California and city planning in Harvard University. Gehry is known for his
postmodern structures and unusual inventions. His most popular buildings include the Guggenheim
Museum in Bilbao, Spain and the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles.
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao is a museum that represents modern and contemporary art. Its story
first begins when Thomas Krens the director of Solomon R. Guggenheim foundation in New York
City, was looking for a museum location in Europe. He chose the industrial wasteland in the middle of
the city on a curve of the Nervion River. The site was located in the center of

How Successful Were the Russian Governments in Promoting...
How successful were the Russian governments in promoting economic change and modernisation
between 1881 1904?
After the Crimean War (1854 56) the econmoy in Russia slowly begun to develop.
Alexander II set the development of a railwail bulding programm and a limited spread of factories.
But Russia s economy was still not as well developed as that in western Europe. So a real
industrialisation took of in the reign of Alexander III and the help of Nicholas II s finance minsters
Ivan Vyshnegradsky and Sergei Witte.
The main point of those developments, was imporoving Russia s finances and buliding up the gold
reserves.

These investments went into mining, matal trades and mostly in oil industry and banking.Besids Witte
brought engeneers and managers from abroad and begun to develop the growth of the railways and the
importance of heavy industry with them. It was time an industrial revolution in Russia.
Russia begun to nationalise the railway companies in the 1880s. By 1905 nearly 66 percen of the
whole railway system was state owned. The most important railway line was the Trans Siberian
(building 1891 1902), which crossed Russia from west (St.Petersburg) to east ( Vladivostock). Those
new railway lines linked the major areas of industrial producion and those with markets or ports.
So building these railway lines also helped the development of the industries along their length.
The development of iron and coal industries in the area of Moskow, St. Petersburg, the Baltic coast and
the Ural Mountains to the east was heavily. This industrial growth helped Russia being the fourth
largest industrail economy in those times.
However there was more trade with grain than with industrial goods.
Even though the state budget more than doubled because of Witte s work , the dependece on loans
from abroad , which had to be paid back, should not fall in oblivion. Moreover Witte didn t aid the
local industries and the agricultural modernasation since he thought the peasant could just be forced

type of control condition, format of the therapy, the number of sessions, the primary outcome
measure, the type of analyses, and means, standard deviations, and sample size for the primary outcome
measure in each condition was recorded for each study (Kishita Laidlaw, 2017, p.127)
Limitations and Sponsorships
The study has a narrow focus on GAD only and cannot provide any information on other anxiety
disorders (Kishita Laidlaw 2017). The age groups included in the studies both included people aged
from 55 to 60 because of an overlap in the age group classification (Kishita Laidlaw 2017) There is
also an apparent lack of patients older than 65. The study also only included articles that used non
active psychological controls, which created a varied group of controls (Kishita Laidlaw, 2017, p.133).
Findings/Conclusions
The analysis found that the majority of treatments used for adults of working age were traditional
CBT techniques (Kishita Laidlaw, 2017, p.128). The rest of the studies used newer techniques (Kishita

shaft when load is exerted on the track.
The proposed mechanical motion rectifier harvester system consists of two major parts. The first part
is input assembly, which acts to convert bi directional linear motion into single directional rotational
motion. The input assembly consists of two rack and pinions, and two roller clutches. The roller
clutches are fitted into the two pinions, either of them engage input shaft at a single direction.
The second part consists of the gearhead, power generator, and flywheel. These components are use to
convert the motion into useful energy. Figure 2.1: Flow Chart The harvester will be mounted to and

A bearing clutch will be used to rectify the up and down motion of the rail track and a gearbox will be
used to amplify the rotatry motion and a permanent magnet DC generator will be used to convert that
rotation into usefull energy(electricity). When the train travels over the track, the rail tie system
displaces vertically. The rack gear is fixed in the subgrade, the harvester travels up and down relative
to the rack gear, and the pinion gear moves relative to the rack gear. Thus a small amount of linear

unrelated to government topics. This is the hinging factor that leads to Government shutdowns in most
cases. Complicated topics like funding abortion through Medicaid, act as continuous causes for
spending gaps through disagreement. Though these issues typically come to be resolved, many of the
leading issues cause if not one, then multiple shutdowns until an agreement is made. Government
shutdowns throughout the past have had many impacts on jobs, vets, active military, disabled, and

I have been raised by my whole family which includes all of my relatives, especially my parents. I

Pharmacy At Rainer s Pharmacy
As a pharmacy technician at Rainer s Pharmacy, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. I have learned what types
of people visit a pharmacy. At the pharmacy, we deliver medication and groceries within two hours of
the pharmacy. The pharmacy is made up of three sections: retail, hospice, and the laboratory. I work in
the retail and hospice section; I have met the diabetic hero, the storytellers, and the narc eater. The
diabetic hero is the scariest. From in the pharmacy you can hear him pull into the parking lot;his car is
rusted from the back left wheel to the front right wheel. The car sounds like it has not been inspected
for years. It clanks and bangs and leaves a trail of smoke behind it. He puts the car in park then comes
in and out before anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is two types within the pharmacy:the retail and the hospice. The retail narc eater are mean and
usually have an egotistic attitude. She always has a scowl on her face. Her look is distinct she has on
dirty sweatpants and a t shirt with holes in the armpit or around the neck. She comes in screaming you
shorted me pills, where the fuck is the rest of my medicine That is very unlikely, because each c2 and
c3 narcotics get placed in a bubble sheet with the set amount of pills counted out for the dosage. If she
is not complaining about not having enough medicine, she wants to fill the prescription too early and
she doesn t understand why the pharmacy can not fill it. Her insurance will not cover it unless she
follows the correct dosage. She tries to pay for the prescription without insurance but the price can be
a few hundred and she responds with, you can shove the money up your ass. The hospice narc eaters
are worse than the retail. These patients are terminally ill and they still want to get that high or they
want to sell their narcotics. For example, patient Sara Lee gets daily narcotics with only one day s
worth, because her children will take her medicine and sell it. This causes that no one else can sign the
manifest saying that the patient received the medication. This can only help so much. The pharmacy
gets multiple calls saying that patient s children is selling the medication right off the front porch.

How Did Shakespeare Use Astrology During The Renaissance
Most of what s been said about shakespeare s use of Astrology was so simplistic that it s irrelevant.
Mainly because the people reading his work don t know enough about it while they are reading it.
Astrology during the Renaissance was based on the complex system of numbers, the Part of Fortune,
and harmony of spheres. Professional astrologers that hear him not only catch his references to the
stars, planets, and signs, but also the pervasive and underlying worldview that astrology is the central
study of the universe. During the renaissance, ordinary folks tended to use terms like the stars to mean
luck or fortune and the names of the planets for some quality that was specific to that planet, as Mars
to anger or Venus to love.

Nutty Potty Research Paper
The Squatty Potty will Revolutionize the way people go number two. The way in which the west use
the restroom is the wrong way. There are many health issues that are directly related to the posture
toilets put you in. The sitting position toilets puts you in is bad for your health. This sitting posture
often attributes to colitis, hemorrhoids, constipation, colon cancer, and appendicitis. The cause of this
directly, is the Puborectalis muscle which has the purpose of clinching the vaginal and anal orifices in
the body. When sitting on the toilet the Puborectalis muscle is only partially relaxed which causes a

This is something that the inventor of the Squatty Potty said Physiologically, we are designed to squat.
I think a great example can be seen in children that are still in diapers who squat to poop. Many of
them then struggle to poop when sitting on training toilets because it is unnatural they instinctively
squat. The Squatty Potty has shown that using it gets the job done normally two times as fast, which
everyone would want it to go by faster. Research has shown using the Squatty Potty can also be a
noninvasive treatment for hemorrhoids, if it is continually used instead of sitting normally on the
toilet. It can also help pregnant women by relieving pressure on the uterus that would otherwise be
caused from sitting on the toilet. The Squatty Potty uses the thighs to help support the colon to prevent
pelvic organ prolapse, hernias and diverticulitis. The Squatty Potty comes in 7 to 9 for people with

The indigenous ethnicity depicted in Things Fall Apart is more concrete and can be defined simply as
the Igbo culture. The text asserts this culture through the recollection and reinforcement of its history.
Achebe strips the style and language of symbolism and metaphor, presenting the everyday
ordinariness of the Igbo people. Things Fall Apart unites humanity. Unlike in King Solomon s Mines
these Africans are not detached and are relatable. This adoption of scientific objectivity 5does not
change in the text; the style remains constant (to the extent that there is no change in approach
between pre colonial and post colonial Africa, portraying the transition as unremarkable). We as the
reader trust the narrative being created for us, and therefore favour it over the alternative narrative of
the District Commissioner, ironically titled The Pacification of the Primitive Tribes of the Lower
Niger (Pg 152). Consequently, the novel can be seen as not only an accurate historical account of Igbo
culture, but also a compassionate delineation of its collapse.
The idea of preservation and resistance6 is expressed powerfully through the protagonist Okonkwo.
The drums beat and the flutes sang and the spectators held their breath (Pg3). This extract isolated

Interpretation: By this data, we can see that the Giraffe water is more turbid than the Amazon Lake
Water, and probably because the water had a good amount of organic matter, like the Giraffes
excrement or it can contain urine too. The Amazon Lake Water is regular in Turbidity, probably
because of the amount of organisms live in it and how they interact with it. Even because of the color
of the lake, it can determine that it is kind of turbid. But the levels of dissolved oxygen on the lake is
greater than the giraffe water, since the lake has a population of organisms and it probably has
plankton and algae and since the organisms use the oxygen in it. VI. CONCLUSION We can conclude

End Of Life Care
Providing End of Life Care Introduction End of life care can be defined as the care of a patient from
the moment healthcare team members have doubts about the purpose of life sustaining treatment until
the care for family after death of the patient (Noome, 2016). Caring for patients with life threatening
illnesses is extraordinarily challenging. When caring for a patient in their last days, nurses may
encounter legal aspects of care that they may not be familiar with. The main objectives of this paper is

Communication between the patient, family, clinicians, and nurses is important in inquiring the needs
and wants of the patient and family. Noome et al. (2016) recognized that ICU nurses described their
role during end of life care as a professional who communicates information to patients and family on
treatments, procedures, and prognosis while providing comfort. Effective communication about
advanced directives and disputes over end of life care decisions may lead to acceptable compromise
and solution between all parties involved (Blackler, 2016). Clear communication and understanding is
needed in order to provide high quality care. Another topic discussed between the articles involved, is
the importance of surrogate decision makers and advocacy for the substituted judgement standard in
situations where the patient does not have the capacity to make his or her own decisions. Both
McGowan (2016) and Blacker (2016) agree that the proxy should confirm the incompetent patient s
actual interests and preferences when making a decision on their behalf. In these situations nurses
should acknowledge the difficult nature of the situation and help the proxy analyze the patient s
interests from the interests of the proxy and/or

Minnesota Dog Owner s Liability Statute (Section 346)

owner s liability statute, section 347.22, when she was thrown against a tree, when a dog sledding
team veered off of a designated path in pursuit of an animal, causing her to suffer broken bones,

BRIEF ANSWER
Probably yes. Under Minnesota s dog owner s liability statute, section 347.22, a dog owner will be
held to be strictly liable for the full amount of injuries sustained by an affected party, if their dog,
without provocation, attacks or injures an individual who is acting peacefully in any place where the

The court in Morris found that the injuries sustained by the plaintiff were the direct and immediate
result of the dogs actions, and although no physical contact occurred, the dog s actions caused the
plaintiff to dismount his bicycle quickly, in order to avoid an imminent attack, causing him to fall and
sustain injuries. Similarly, our client never made physical contact with the dogs, sustaining her injuries
when she was thrown from the sled, making direct contact with a tree. Although no physical contact
occurred, the phrase attacks or injures insinuates actions by a dog that directly and proximately
produces injury to the individual the dog attacks or injures. Lewellin, 465 N.W.2d at 65. While one
might challenge that it would be easier to establish direct causation between ones injuries and a dogs
actions through direct contact with the plaintiff, the statute s language merely establishes an
immediate implication by a dogs non hostile behavior, in order to consider the dogs actions be covered
under the language of or injures. While there was no physical contact between Staycia and the sled
dog s, the dogs quick, veering off the fairly narrow path into the woods, caused Staycia to be thrown

the sled. These facts invoke the statute s

Ethics And Infinity By Emmanuel Levinas
Ethics and Infinity by Emmanuel Levinas
The works of Emmanuel Levinas are considered to be hugely influential within the philosophical
disciplines of twentieth century ethics and existentialism, but unfortunately the convolution and
misrepresentation of his thinking often results in miscomprehension of his ideas. Totality and Infinity:
A Book on Exteriority is one of Levinas earlier works (published in 1961 in French and 1969 in
English) that has garnered much attention and praise from writers across a multitude of disciplines
(not just philosophy) for the fact that it deals with the widely applicable subject of relations toward
and perception of the Other from the perspective of the self. Throughout the book, the author
demonstrates the manner in which subjectivity begins from the idea of perpetuity, and how the infinite
is an outcome of the correlation of self and Other. The main purpose of Levinas work is to find out the
dominance of the Other based on the epiphany of the face. According to his work, infinite is the
beginning or foundation of ethics and, he also declines any ethical intellectualism. Levinas
acknowledges the idea that not every human being is inherently ethical per se but he or she is an
aspiration of Others. Therefore, the remaining part of this paper will focus on sexuality, which is one
of the themes that the writer encountered Sexual encounter Sex is a powerful act that has the ability to

The Army Of The United States
The movement from a drafted to an all volunteer force has proven to provide the Army of the United
States with some of its most impressive Soldiers. Whether Soldiers desire to join the military for the
pay, job security or answering the call to serve their country, these desires have become increasingly
obsolete in today s Army because of budget cuts. The Army will begin to lose quality Soldiers due to
continued pay cuts to military pay, basic allowance for housing and changes to retirement plans. On
March 2014, presented to Congress was a 495.6 billion dollar budget for the Department of Defense
(DOD). This newly presented budget is a 400 million dollar cut from the previous fiscal year (FY)
(October 1, 2014). This budget will create a smaller; yet, agile force that can still rapidly support the
United States of America at any time. The budget will stand for continued advancements in protection

With that said, where would the 400 million dollar DOD budget cuts be made? According to the
United States Department of Defense Budget Request of Fiscal Year 2015 (DOD BR15) (2014), in

the homeless population. We had the great opportunity to tour it and even walk in one of the single

Abstract
The aim of this paperis to propose a framework to evaluate the awareness of digital literacy among
students. This paper mention about the ways to develop the knowledge performance towards students
by practicing good skills to deal with the appropriate digital tools and knowing variety types of digital
tools which can be use in digital literacy among students.
Keywords: awareness; digital literacy; digital tool; information literacy; knowledge performance
1. Introduction
Nowadays, in dealing with the rising of the technologies, students need to be encouraged to be ready
to obtain lifelong knowledge and skill in the learning environment. The understanding of the concept
of digital literacy has to go through long term development and its current appearance is characterized
by complexity and technology skills but also cognitive and attitudinal components of behavior.
(Reynolds, 2008 ; Reynolds, 2016) notes that definitions of digital literacy are often skills, and
practically in uses of related technologies, thus tethering them to a given historical moment in time.
The definition frequently used is a confident and important use of ICT for work, leisure, learning and
communication (European Commission, quoted in JISC InfoNet, 2012; Hall, Nix Baker,

Analysis Of Legally Blonde
In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine
icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle
never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities
and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence.
As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if
she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can
attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive
depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film.
Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and
flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm,
beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained,
especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about
being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly
despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart
are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit
to patriarchal notion of submissiveness.
One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not
make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s
fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take
advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see
this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon
with half loop top stitching on the hem?. Why yes, it s one of a kind, the retailer replied. Elle uses her
fashion knowledge and wittily replies It s impossible to use a half loop topstitch on low viscosity
rayon.

Ethics And Diversity In United Parcel Services
Management and organizational behaviors are affected by multiple issues within an organization, from
the type of work done, to the industry, to the rules and policies of the company. All of these elements
work together to establish a culture within an organization and to provide direction and guidance for
employees as they go about their day to day work. Ethics and diversity are two major dynamic
realities that influence the environment of organizations today. Diversity is present when there is a
mixture of differences and similarities in terms of age, religion, culture, gender, ethnicity, and
education amongst a group of people in the same environment. Therefore, in order to support an
ethical organizational culture, it is important for an organization to establish a code of ethics.
Within the walls of United Parcel Services (UPS), they believe the culture of their company should

failure. Drivers will do everything possible to providing the best customer service possible, even if it
means incurring extra costs to getting one package delivered on time. By keeping employee morale
up, management meets regularly with employees to discuss services. Together they work as a team to
solving problems. Service Involvement Meetings were also designed for employee groups. This gives
employees the chance to work with other colleagues to finding solutions with service failures. In

Homer s The Iliad
Many great tales of brave men have always been told throughout history. Most famous stories that are
known of brave men took place when wars were fought with swords, and bows, and halberds, and not
with guns, and missiles. Although the best of stories of brave men didn t always happen in real life but
only in the thought of man. Even some great have been made into plays, movies and shows. In the
book writing Homer has always been a great author, and story teller. Homer has always made stories
feel so real, and one of homers best stories The Iliad has always been always been told because of it

Although due to all this the Trojans still fight strong, and brave, and many times are strong enough to
push back the Arcadians back to their wall. A Trojan warrior, Poulydamas, suggests they dismount,
and make a massive attack on, foot Hector agrees. After much of a typical back, and fourth of battle,
the Trojans finally drive the Achaeans back within their wall. Just when it looks like the Trojans are
about to breach the wall, an eagle flies overhead, on the left (this was viewed as unlucky), and
carrying a snake. The snake is still alive, and keeps biting the eagle until it finally lets it go.
Poulydamas urges Hector to treat this as a bad omen, and not attack the Achaean ships (Shmoop
editorial team). But unlucky for the Trojans, the Greeks had the greatest fighter of them all, Achilleus,
and have a great vendetta for the Trojans, for killing his best friend Patroklos, but by enraging the
great warrior Achilleus is to be the greatest mistake that the Trojans had done. Even thought that every
man in the fight has free will the gods had already chosen who will win the war. Although the people
have control of what happens in the war, the gods are the ones with the final say on who wins the war.
Even though the gods are supposed to be neutral in the affairs of man, in this war the gods broke the
trust and intervened in the affairs of man. Although the Trojans had some gods protecting them from

Who Is Rita Russell s Educating Rita
Educating Rita The play Educating Rita, only has two characters, Frank and Rita, Rita wants to learn
literacy, and Frank is her tutor. The play is set in the 1970 s, when there was not a lot of
unemployment, and there was plenty of money. Although Rita has everything she needs, she is dis
satisfied with her life, she wants something more. Rita feels that there is no meaning to life, and she
wants to find one. The characters Rita and Frank are two totally different people, Rita is uneducated
and common, whereas Frank is educated and well spoken. I found the play has no specific genre, I
found it came under realist, with the issues it covers like divorce, I found it came under comedy,
because it made you laugh in places, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If your trying to induce some feeling of guilt in me This shows that they may not get on too well, so
Franks girlfriend is trying to make him feel guilty because he cant make it home for dinner, but she
didn t succeed very well. This prepares us for his relationship with Rita by showing us that he may
just not get on too well with women, so therefore he may not get on too well with Rita. Or it may
mean that he is soon going to be single and available. When Rita comes into the play she has a
problem opening Franks door. This could be symbolic because it shows that there is a problem
between them, and there may be problems between them later on. When she finally manages to open
the door she reacts as if Frank is stupid by not getting it fixed. Ya wanna get that fixed! this says to the
audience that maybe Rita is a bit annoyed by the fact she couldn t open the door and get in, it may
show she is a bit impatient aswell. Or that she likes to joke around a lot. You can see the difference in
their literary tastes by the way Rita reacts to Howard s end. It sounds filthy doesn t it? (She is referring
to the title of human bondage ) This shows that she has a rude sense of humour and that she doesn t
really understand what the title means. And it also shows that there might be a lot Rita doesn t
understand later on in the play. You can also see the difference in their tastes when Rita starts

Analysis of The Complete Maus, by Art Spiegelman
When reading a traditional book, it is up to the reader to imagine the faces and landscapes that are
described within. A well written story will describe the images clearly so that you can easily picture
the details. In Art Spiegelman s The Complete Maus, the use of the animals in place of the humans
offers a rather comical view in its simplistic relation to the subject and at the same time develops a
cryptic mood within the story. His drawings of living conditions in Auschwitz; expressions on the
faces of people enduring torture, starvation, and despair; his experience with the mental institution and
his mother s suicide; and occasional snapshots of certain individuals, create a new dynamic between
book and reader. By using the form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Art shows the obsessive compulsive aspects of Vladek with intensity. As you listen to Vladek s story,
you begin to understand his driving need to keep everything. Living in an infested prison with little
food and drink, he had to learn to survive. With small tokens from his life before Auschwitz, Art began
to make allies and trade for food and clothing. Teaching English to a guard and acquiring some basic
necessities for survival, as a tinsmith he found people to trade for food and gave gifts to his Kapo to
gain favor and better treatment, he even fixed the boots of his wife s Kapo and afterwards his wife was
no longer treated so poorly. Vladek had to salvage anything that might be of value to someone else
and eventually was even able to move his wife closer so he could keep an eye on her. Soon his
obsession with saving anything he can get his hands on starts to make sense. As you take in the story
of Auschwitz, there are moments when you realize how easily he Vladek is telling the story. He
describes times when the prisoners are inspected for health and if they pass they are sent back to the
barracks to continue working and if they are too sick then they are removed from the camp. Art uses
the smokestack to represent those who are taken away and sent to the gas chamber, the devastating
image is chilling and leaves a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. It is such a simple drawing, small

A Research On Human And Animal Studies
My dissertation research has provided successful evidence of non pharmacological approach to
personal precision medicine. Human and animal studies both in vitro and in vivo have provided
potential mechanotransduction pathways underlying bone regeneration and remodeling. The relation
of profiling gene expression between human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (hBMSCs) and
macrophages provides profound understandings of bone homeostasis starting in bone marrow niches.
The use of two photon confocal microscope has provided visual evidence on mechanical
modifications under the low intensity vibration measured by atomic force microscope. The RNA
interference technique of knocking down biogenes has confirmed the possibility of the
mechanotransduction pathway involving cellular interactions of physical structures inside the cell and
nucleus. My successful pathway has shown that the orientation of cytoskeleton controls the
programmable differentiation fates of multipotent human bone marrow and adipose derived MSCs.
These results could lead to a novel treatment of osteoporosis and diabetic patients using stem cell
precision medicine.
My several research on the regenerative cardiovasculatures using hUVECs on biosynthetic fibrinogen
and the Penn State artificial heart using hCSCs on biomedical segmented polyurethanes has been
successful in providing alternative potentials for patients with severe heart diseases. Biological

Periodic Trends Lab
In this lab, students compared the periodic trends of the elements in comparison to the atomic number.
A periodic trend is the tendency of certain properties of the elements to increase or decrease as one
progresses along a row or column of the periodic table. The periodic table is arranged in such a way
that these trends are easy to compare, which is the purpose of this lab. One trend, for example, is
between the electronegativity and the atomic number on an element, another being the density. When
comparing the trends, notice that electronegativity decreases when going down the groups, or
columns, of the period table, whereas the density increases. The reason for the increase in the density,
which is the relationship between the mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The noble gases are the gaseous elements helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon, in group 18
of the periodic table. Additionally, they are considered the most unreactive of the elements, due to the
fact that the valence electrons are all full , thus making the group the most stable, as well. When it
comes to the periodic trends, the noble gases have the some of the lowest densities because they are
gaseous elements, meaning they state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a definite
volume nor definite shape. The lack of electronegativity of the noble gasses is based off of their group,
which already has a full outer shell, meaning they do not attract any electrons. In final analysis, the
electronegativity and density periodic trends trends are fairly consistent. Electronegativity decreases
when going down groups, while density increases. However, the outliers of these trends are the noble
gases, because of their stable, unreactive properties. In addition to helping students learn about
periodic trends, it also demonstrated to students how these trends were of great use for previous
scientists when they worked together to discover new elements that were missing on the periodic

Feminism In Sheryl Sandberg
There s just as many different kinds of feminism as there are women in the world. Kathleen Hanna
Read more at: Kathleen Hanna. Feminism is not a new idea but it is a growing one and people have
different views on it, but most feminist can agree on is that women need to move up in the workplace
and Bell Hook s the author of Dig Deep: Beyond Lean In and Sheryl Sandberg the author of Lean in:
What Would You Do If You Weren t Afraid? both explore. Even though it might appear that Bell Hook
s and Sheryl Sandberg agree that women should be more proactive in their workplace, on a closer
look, they actually disagree about the type of people who should be taking the advice, seen through
Bell Hook s criticism of Sheryl Sandberg. Bell Hook s criticism of Sheryl Sandberg is seen through
her analysis of Sheryl s social status and wealth. Bell Hook s analysis of Sheryl Sandberg s wealth and
social status gives the reader a better understanding of how Sandberg effectively uses her race and
class power and privilege to promote a narrow definition of feminism that obscures and undermines
visionary feminist concerns (662). If you didn t know Sheryl Sandberg is worth about 1.6 billion
dollars and has one of the highest positions in the most popular social media website in the world. You

Jessie had successfully completed his rehabilitation at the Riverdale rehab center in Arizona. He

and then drove to his former house where his wife, whom he is separated from, and his daughter live.
His daughter refused to speak to him and ran to her room. His wife told him that he can no longer live
with them and that he needs to get his life in order if he wants them to be a part of it. He uses what
little money he has to get himself a small motel room to stay in. Shortly after making his way into the

began talking. They explained to him why he was there and put up an offer on the table for him. If he

they would help him out with work, a place to stay, and he would also get paid for his undercover

Later on that night he got his new identity. He had only 3 weeks to learn his character inside and out.
He had to completely change his outer appearance. Once those 3 weeks were over it was time go

The Approach to Nature of Descartes and White Essay
The Approach to Nature of Descartes and White The approach to nature which René Descartes takes is
distinct from that of Gilbert White. Descartes and White have similar key methods of examining
nature. It is mainly in Descartes deductive reasoning and beliefs that lead him to the method of
approaching nature internally (mind and body). Conversely, White s keen observances, inductive
reasoning, and appreciation for his surroundings lead him to the method of investigating the external
nature (Selborne). Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this hierarchy, God stands as some more perfect being on which [humans] [depend] (Descartes, 26).
Humans are placed in the centre, because God grants us the ability to reason the ability to distinguish
what is true from what is false (Descartes, 22). Below us rest animals, having no reason. Truth in
nature therefore, must not come from animals since they are lesser beings, but rather, it must be found
within humans.
White finds appreciation for the external nature which Descartes considers to be less certain
(Descartes, 28). While Descartes takes a rational approach, White takes a scientific, yet literary means
toward nature. He observes nature ardently, noting animals modes of life housing, reproduction,
communications, transportation, and physical appearance. His ability to personify these animals
creates a meeting place for wild life and human feeling (White, xvii). In his recordings for example,
White observes the swallow s mode of life. It builds its nest, often within barns and out houses against
the rafters (White, 156). The swallow lays from four to six white eggs, dotted with red specks; and
brings about her first brood about the last week in June, or the first week of July (White, 157). The
swallow is a delicate songster, and in soft sunny weather sings

UNICEF In The 1950 s
Early 1950s, UNICEF s funds received contributions from 47 governments, a significant increase
from 4 years ago when it first started. UNICEF launched the program Trick or Treat for UNICEF,
mobilizing children to help children. The program is continuing until the present. The only difference
between them is many kids lived in other countries where their low living condition due to war,
poverty, natural disasters make it hard for them to survive. The kids in those countries cannot afford
having Halloween, nor candy what they need and want. American kids go door to door, calling out
Trick or treat for UNICEF, and collecting donations for children in the other countries. The programs
have raised more than $175 million. As UNICEF had proved its significance in responding to the
children s needs, the UN recognized the organization s power in altering children s lives. It was
important that no child should be left out. There were children ... Show more content on

In fact, the mission of assisting children s lives would never end. The work of UNICEF should go on.
Therefore, UNICEF went through a process of adjustment to become more effective and accessible.
The year 1953 marked a turning point of UNICEF when the organization changed its name and focus.
Starting as a temporary relief programme, UNICEF transitioned into a permanent part of the UN.
Even though it was still called UNICEF, international and emergency were dropped, the official name
was shortened to United Nations Children s Fund, displaying its program expansion and new purpose.
The organization evolved from a short term project, which was reported to be one of the very generous
activities that have come out of the tragedy of war, to one of the largest international non profit
organizations (Ferguson, 1972, p. 226). UNICEF became a symbol of third world countries children

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Byronic Heros From Hamlet A Byronic hero is an antihero of the highest order. In the seventeenth century, William Shakespeare wrote the play Hamlet. Four centuries later, the television show Breaking Bad aired. Even though these two pieces of media were written hundreds of years apart they still shared something in common: their main characters were Byronic heroes. Hamlet from Hamlet and Walter White from Breaking Bad display the characteristics of an ultimate antihero. They are Byronic heroes because each has a troubled backstory, each is an anti hero, both are criminals, have high intelligence and useful skills, and have deep rooted psychological and emotional issues. Each character had to experience their own trauma to which led them to become the Byronic heroes that they are. Hamlet s father, King Hamlet, was murdered by his uncle, Claudius, in cold blood. While still in grief, his mother married Claudius no less than two months after the King s passing. Walter White is fifty year old man who is an overqualified chemistry teacher who has to watch the world pass him up every day. He must also humiliatingly work at a car wash to make extra money to provide for his pregnant wife and his sixteen year old son who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Decades ago he started a multi billion company but sold his share early in the business for a mere five thousand dollars. Then to make it all worse, Walter White was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer on his fiftieth birthday. Byronic heroes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is the third of six children (the eldest son) born to Charles Joseph and Gladys Christina McGrail McCarthy (he has two brothers and three sisters). Originally named Charles (after his father), he renamed himself Cormac after the Irish King (another source says that McCarthy s family was responsible for legally changing his name to the Gaelic equivalent of son of Charles ). In 1937, when he was four, the family moved to Knoxville, and his father became a lawyer for the Tennessee Valley Authority (legal staff 1934 67; chief counsel 1958 67). In 1967, the McCarthys moved from Knoxville to Washington, D.C., where Charles was the principal attorney in a law firm until his retirement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. New Imperialism Effects The economic effects of new imperialism seeped throughout the world. The European countries standard of living increased since people s income elevated above the subsistence level. These countries thrived. According to political economist John Stuart Mill, the European s imperialism of free trade over African regions, led to improvement in the process of production in every extension of the market. These European countries had an altogether disproportionate share of the wealth and traffic of the world, at the expense of the distant African countries. The imperialist economies prospered, and even today still be some of the most financially stable areas. The opposite is quite true as well. The financially abused states had their resources ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New Imperialism called for a system of administration where the dominance of the home country was esteemed. Made easier by the fact that Africa in the nineteenth century was not unified, European nationalists capitalized on the lack of cohesion in Africa during the nineteenth century and overcame small villages with their intimidating and structured way of government. Great Britain established a protectorate in Egypt which practically synonymous with ownership. In a protectorate, the dominant country takes the other country under its protection to retain its ownership from other powers. Colonial governments were also created, meaning that the citizens of the imperialist power would leave to go live in the new territory as permanent settlers, while still considering themselves under the rule of the imperialist power. Western European countries affected the developments of people within their spheres of influence, which directly correlates with the size of the country s territory, even though no formal authority reigned over the natives of these lands. Having control over, or practically owning, more territory served as a powerful symbol since the highly regarded sphere of influence grew. A growing obsession with the popularity of new imperialism led to corruption. European diplomats, especially those with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Fischer Esterification Fischer Esterification of (1,3 Dimethylbutyl) Acetate from 4 Methyl 2 Pentanol Alison Evans Anne Richards TA: Dylan Kahl Tuesday 11:30am 2:20pm 81807 Abstract: An ester was synthesized during an organic reaction and identified by IR spectroscopy and boiling point. Acetic acid was added to 4 methyl 2 pentanol, which was catalyzed by sulfuric acid. This produced the desired ester and water. After the ester was isolated a percent yield of 55.1% was calculated from the 0.872 g of ester recovered. This quantitative error was most likely due to product getting stuck in the apparatus. The boiling point of the ester was 143° C, only one degree off from the theoretical boiling point of the ester 1,3 dimethylbutyl, 144 ° C. The values of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If necessary the centrifuge can also be used to further separate the two layers. A final means of drying the ester product is the addition of granular sodium sulfate. The purity and identity of the product can be determined through the use of smell, IR spectroscopy and melting point determination. A general idea of what the ester is can be obtained by smell. Esters can have specific smells and if the scent can be determined, one may have an idea of the ester was created. IR spectroscopy will identify the bonds of the functional groups. The ester can be considered pure if there are no additional peaks on the IR spectrum. For example, if a peak corresponding to an alcohol group appeared on the IR spectrum it would mean the ester is not completely pure. Melting point can also be used to confirm the identity and how pure the final product is. Comparison of the experimental melting point and the literature value allows for determination of how close the experimental value is to the literature value. If the experimental value is within the range of the literature value, the product can be considered pure. Procedure: A 10 mL round bottom flask was weighed both before and after approximately 1.5 mL of the given alcohol, 4 methyl 2 pentanol, was added. 3 mL of glacial acetic acid, one boiling chip, and 2 3 drops of concentrated sulfuric acid were added to the flask in that order. The reflux apparatus was assembled, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Impact Of World War One ( Wwi ) The Home Front is often overlooked when discussing the impact of World War One (WWI), as the impact is often less glorified when compared to the bloodshed of the battlefields. This exhibition looks at life in Australia during WWI and explores the experiences of those away from the actual fighting who are at home. By extensively using primary sources and brief profiles of both notable and everyday Australians during WWI, the exhibit gives a holistic view on life in Australia during the Great War. The exhibit focuses on the themes of the initial excitement of those in Australia when the war began, technology advancements, how the public received news of the war and their reaction to it, as well as the sense of growing disillusionment that developed as the war progressed. It comprehensively looks at these experiences and emotions and describes them with clarity. When first entering the exhibit, the wall displays a quote from the Sydney Morning Herald, stating that the war was our baptism of fire... it will test our manhood and womanhood... even though we never hear a shot fired . This is then coupled with the exhibit describing the excitement felt by many Australian s as the war promised an adventure. This excitement is explored throughout the exhibition as it describes how Australian s put their lives on hold for the war effort. The exhibit accurately describes this initial excitement, and portrays the wide range of emotions felt by those in Australia. The exhibit also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While there are benefits such as better education than my parents who immigrated from Vietnam and Malaysia, I am considered a bit of an outcast in the Chinese community. Sure, I identify as Chinese, but am I really Chinese? I am fortunate enough to have family members who don t let me forget my roots by celebrating Chinese festivities and eating Chinese food on an almost daily basis. Despite all of this, I sometimes feel as if I m an imposter as I tend to be more American than Chinese. In a world where pollution has become an increasing problem, doing our best as residents to use only the resources that are needed and decreasing pollutants is a way to hopefully slow down the process of global warming. To do this, some people have been using alternate forms of energy such as wind, solar, and hydro. The advancements in these forms of energy to make it cheaper for the public to purchase has been a big step in keeping our world safe for inhabitants. Hangzhou, in particular, is well known for having an efficient public transportation network consisting of hybrid diesel electric buses, China Railway High speed, and public bike rentals. Major streets even have dedicated bike lanes as many prefer to ride their bicycles or electric scooters. These methods lead to fewer cars on the roads, thus improving air quality and reduces greenhouse gases. As shown in figure, there are frictional losses due to the meshing of gears and misalignment of the shaft when load is exerted on the track. The proposed mechanical motion rectifier harvester system consists of two major parts. The first part is input assembly, which acts to convert bi directional linear motion into single directional rotational motion. The input assembly consists of two rack and pinions, and two roller clutches. The roller clutches are fitted into the two pinions, either of them engage input shaft at a single direction. The second part consists of the gearhead, power generator, and flywheel. These components are use to convert the motion into useful energy. Figure 2.1: Flow Chart The harvester will be mounted to and spans two rail ties. As it is shown in Figure, the harvester consists of : two rack and two pinion gear which convert the linear motion to rotatry motion. Figure 2.2: Modified Prototype A bearing clutch will be used to rectify the up and down motion of the rail track and a gearbox will be used to amplify the rotatry motion and a permanent magnet DC generator will be used to convert that rotation into usefull energy(electricity). When the train travels over the track, the rail tie system displaces vertically. The rack gear is fixed in the subgrade, the harvester travels up and down relative to the rack gear, and the pinion gear moves relative to the rack gear. My parents have been teaching me about many cultural values and beliefs. Some of the values that I have followed the most are the love of learning and the concept of respect. And the only belief that my parents taught me is Buddhism. Even though Vietnam is a traditional country, it does not mean that we do not face to deviance. The ways that my parents handle deviance are always the best to me. They showed me why and how it is deviance and taught me either it is good or bad to have deviance. For example, patient Sara Lee gets daily narcotics with only one day s worth, because her children will take her medicine and sell it. The indigenous ethnicity depicted in Things Fall Apart is more concrete and can be defined simply as the Igbo culture. The text asserts this culture through the recollection and reinforcement of its history. Achebe strips the style and language of symbolism and metaphor, presenting the everyday ordinariness of the Igbo people. Things Fall Apart unites humanity. Unlike in King Solomon s Mines these Africans are not detached and are relatable. This adoption of scientific objectivity 5does not change in the text; the style remains constant (to the extent that there is no change in approach between pre colonial and post colonial Africa, portraying the transition as unremarkable). We as the reader trust the narrative being created for us, and therefore favour it over the alternative narrative of the District Commissioner, ironically titled The Pacification of the Primitive Tribes of the Lower Niger (Pg 152). Consequently, the novel can be seen as not only an accurate historical account of Igbo culture, but also a compassionate delineation of its collapse. BRIEF ANSWER Probably yes. Under Minnesota s dog owner s liability statute, section 347.22, a dog owner will be held to be strictly liable for the full amount of injuries sustained by an affected party, if their dog, without provocation, attacks or injures an individual who is acting peacefully in any place where the individual has a lawful right to be. Similarly, our client never made physical contact with the dogs, sustaining her injuries when she was thrown from the sled, making direct contact with a tree. Although no physical contact occurred, the phrase attacks or injures insinuates actions by a dog that directly and proximately produces injury to the individual the dog attacks or injures. Lewellin, 465 N.W.2d at 65. Ethics And Infinity By Emmanuel Levinas Ethics and Infinity by Emmanuel Levinas The works of Emmanuel Levinas are considered to be hugely influential within the philosophical disciplines of twentieth century ethics and existentialism, but unfortunately the convolution and misrepresentation of his thinking often results in miscomprehension of his ideas. Totality and Infinity: A Book on Exteriority is one of Levinas earlier works (published in 1961 in French and 1969 in English) that has garnered much attention and praise from writers across a multitude of disciplines (not just philosophy) for the fact that it deals with the widely applicable subject of relations toward and perception of the Other from the perspective of the self. Throughout the book, the author demonstrates the manner in which subjectivity begins from the idea of perpetuity, and how the infinite is an outcome of the correlation of self and Other. The main purpose of Levinas work is to find out the dominance of the Other based on the epiphany of the face. According to his work, infinite is the beginning or foundation of ethics and, he also declines any ethical intellectualism. Levinas acknowledges the idea that not every human being is inherently ethical per se but he or she is an aspiration of Others. This newly presented budget is a 400 million dollar cut from the previous fiscal year (FY) (October 1, 2014). This budget will create a smaller; yet, agile force that can still rapidly support the United States of America at any time. The budget will stand for continued advancements in protection and applied research to help ensure future competitive advantages for the United States of America. With that said, where would the 400 million dollar DOD budget cuts be made? According to the United States Department of Defense Budget Request of Fiscal Year 2015 (DOD BR15) (2014), in order to continue to build a readily available force to support the country s needs, budget cuts are needed and will be made at the expense of the Soldiers. It is amazing to see and read how affordable housing can be so aesthetically pleasing and well designed while still taking advantage of the funds and be economical. Indeed having had moved to Los Angeles recently, it is hard to believe or even notice that Santa Monica was once a small cheap town and that compared to previous realities, it is now a very expensive area to live and work and is recognized as an elite place to inhabit. Further, the idea of the terraces to overlook the city is a great illustration of architecture that cares about its users since it integrates nice relaxing spaces for the residents to congregate or just be. On the other hand, the Star Apartments are units strictly used for the homeless population. We had the great opportunity to tour it and even walk in one of the single resident units. This marvelous project must inspire other architecture firms and city programs to design and incentivize buildings like such. In fact, the homeless population in Los Angeles grows every year making it the largest population in the United States because of weather conditions and perhaps social communities. In previous lectures, we had learned that a law was passed in L.A. to raise money from the government directly strictly towards homeless housing and programs to help them. In fact, this topic in specific awakes great interest on me, making it my top choice for our final presentations in class. Moreover, I have visited the building several times after our first toured visit, and I believe it has great potential to make a difference in the urban fabric because of its location and notorious design. • 43. Analysis Of Legally Blonde In the acclaimed 2001 film, Legally Blonde, the main character, Elle Woods, is a fantastic feminine icon for females. The film represents the struggle of women to prove their ability. Remarkably, Elle never succumbs to those who so strongly see her as being stupid. While others put down her abilities and intelligence, Elle hardly ever doubts herself. She moves through the world with pure confidence. As Callahan, a law professor at Harvard who later selects Elle Woods for his internship quips, it s as if she just woke up one day and said, I m going to law school. She decides on a goal and knows she can attain it, even if others only respond with incredulity or mockery. Legally Blonde has many positive depictions of women and femininity for a 2001 film. Elle doesn t fit the misogynist prospect of submissive femininity. She is loud, emotional, and flamboyant. When she enters a room with the clacking of her bright pink heels, Chihuahua in arm, beaming and effusive, you cannot ignore her. Elle s bubbliness and enthusiasm is often disdained, especially in the legal world, but she continues to express her true self. She is unapologetic about being attractive, sexual and caring about her appearance. She does not stop being stereotypically girly despite that it makes others think she is less legitimate and intelligent. She proves that sexy and smart are not opposing forces. Elle is the perfect example of how being feminine does not mean you submit to patriarchal notion of submissiveness. One of the fundamental themes in Legally Blonde is that a female having an ardor for fashion does not make her dim witted and that fashion insight is not an immanently futile form of knowledge. Elle s fashion knowledge is introduced when a retailer labels her as a dumb blonde, and tries to take advantage of her by ripping off the last season sale tag and selling it to her for full price. Did you see this one? We just got it in yesterday. the retailer told her. Slyly, she asks Is this a low viscosity rayon with half loop top stitching on the hem?. A periodic trend is the tendency of certain properties of the elements to increase or decrease as one progresses along a row or column of the periodic table. One trend, for example, is between the electronegativity and the atomic number on an element, another being the density. The noble gases are the gaseous elements helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon, in group 18 of the periodic table. Additionally, they are considered the most unreactive of the elements, due to the fact that the valence electrons are all full , thus making the group the most stable, as well. When it comes to the periodic trends, the noble gases have the some of the lowest densities because they are gaseous elements, meaning they state of matter consisting of particles that have neither a definite volume nor definite shape. The lack of electronegativity of the noble gasses is based off of their group, which already has a full outer shell, meaning they do not attract any electrons. In final analysis, the electronegativity and density periodic trends trends are fairly consistent. Electronegativity decreases when going down groups, while density increases. Humans are placed in the centre, because God grants us the ability to reason the ability to distinguish what is true from what is false (Descartes, 22). Below us rest animals, having no reason. Truth in nature therefore, must not come from animals since they are lesser beings, but rather, it must be found within humans. White finds appreciation for the external nature which Descartes considers to be less certain (Descartes, 28). While Descartes takes a rational approach, White takes a scientific, yet literary means toward nature. He observes nature ardently, noting animals modes of life housing, reproduction, communications, transportation, and physical appearance. His ability to personify these animals creates a meeting place for wild life and human feeling (White, xvii). In his recordings for example, White observes the swallow s mode of life. It builds its nest, often within barns and out houses against the rafters (White, 156).
