marco polo Essay
Marco Polo
Marco Polo was born in c.1254 in Venice. He was a Venetian explorer and merchant whose account of
his travels in Asia was the primary source for the European image of the Far East until the late 19th
century. Marco s father, Niccolo, and his uncle Maffeo had traveled to China in 1260 1269 as
merchants. Despite Marco s enduring fame very little was known about the personal life of Marco
Polo. It is known that he was born into a leading Venetian family of merchants. He also lived during a
propitious time in world history, when the height of Venice s as a city state coincided with the greatest
extent of Mongol conquest of Asia. (http://darter.ocps.k12.fl.us/classroom/who/darter1/polo.htm ) ...

Marco and his party encountered such hazards as wild beasts and brigands. They also met with
beautiful women, in whom young Marco took a special interest. Under the Khan s protection the Polo
s were able to observe a large portion of the Islamic world at close range. By the time they reached the
Khan s court in Khanbalik, Marco had become a hardened traveler. He had also received a unique
education and had been initiated into manhood.
Kublai Khan greeted the Polo s warmly and invited them to stay in his court. The Polo s became great
favorites of the Khan, and Kublai eventually made Marco one of his most trusted emissaries. On these
points Marco has been accused of gross exaggeration, and the actual status of the Polo s at the court of
Khan s is much disputed. For political reasons the Khan was in the habit of appointing foreigners to
administer conquered lands, particularly China, where the tenacity of the Chinese bureaucracy was
legendary. The Khan could also observe for himself that young Marco was a good Candidate. Finally,
Marco reported back so successfully from his first mission, informing the Khan not only on business
details but also on colorful customs and other interesting trivia. (Marco Polo in China)
The Polo s stayed on the court for seventeen years. Apparently, the elder Polo s carried on their trading

Id Ego Superego In A Long Way Gone
The Id, Ego and Super Ego of Ishmael Beah
In his story A Long Way Gone Ishmael Beah struggles to balance his id, ego and superego during his
time of recovery at UNICEF s rehabilitation center. The id, ego, and superego are terms that Sigmund
Freud introduced to explain differences in the unconscious mind. The id is of the unconscious the part
of our minds in which our drives towards pleasures and bodily needs, such as self preservation,
aggression, and sexual urges are found this unconscious part is the primary of the unconscious this is
is also primitive. I like to think when eating a cake my id will want the whole thing accepting the
calories and all. The ego is the balance between the id and superego and is actually conscious. Our ego

Ishmael is having less and less fun, shutting himself out and just doing what is right . I we see a the

are talking After he stopped laughing, he sighed and said Ah, your after and I, we did too many
troublesome things. If you are as troublesome as we were, I will give you some leeway, because it
wouldn t be fair for me to get down on you He put his arm around my shoulder. I think my
troublesome days are long gone I said sadly (175). I think this shows he has really giving up on
pleasure seeking on his id. After this we see that he does not really enjoy himself when presented to

Courageous Conversations About Race by Glenn E. Singleton...
Courageous Conversations About Race: Chapter 5
Authors Glenn E. Singleton and Curtis Linton in Chapter Five of Courageous Conversations About
Race broach the topic of race, by asking the reader to evaluate his or her own consciousness of race.
According to the authors, in order to address the achievement gaps between African American
students and White students, educators should shift their energy towards focusing on the factors that
they have direct control of inside the classroom rather than on the factors that influence this
achievement disparity between races outside the classroom.
The first step towards addressing the racial achievement gap begins with educators addressing his or
her individual racial attitudes for, as the authors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Growing up in Park Ridge, Illinois was significantly different from where I was born in Morristown,
New Jersey. One of the most startling differences was apparent in the make up of the student body. In
Morristown, I attended an elementary school with a diverse student body; many of my schoolmates
were African American and I remember even at a young age, students regardless of race interacting all
together without any sense of stigma attached to it. In that sense, while attending elementary school,
since it was the norm to have friends of different races, I did not think very much of my race.
However, in contrast to living in Morristown, when I moved to Park Ridge, Illinois at the start of
middle school, I will never forget meeting my classmates for the first time only to realize not one was
of a different race. In fact, there was not one African American in my entire middle school! This was
shocking to me. Transferring from a diverse school community to a completely homogenous school
community made me more aware of my race simply because there

I had Gwen go into meeting as soon as she completed fit training. I gave her he weekly scorecard
sheet and praised her for a wonderful FBC completion percentage. I had a made a note on there about
that and also notated that she also needed to continue working hard on her DPO and add on sales.
I then gave Gwen her take a peek from the prior week. Her talk time average was 8:19 and her ACW
average was 0:06. When she saw this she stated she was trying. I said yes, but we have to get it down.
I then asked her what else I could do to help get her time down. I explained that there were going to be
days that she worked that my coaching time did not allow me to meet with her. I explained I had
specially asked to coach extra time in order to meet with her. She said she didn t know. I reminded her
Cheryl , myself, and Chelsea prior to her departure had all met with her, we had y corded with her, and
we ve sent emails to her and there has been no improvement.

she wanted to continue to write down as a crutch I presented, Okay, what if you reversed the order you
did this and you keyed the item in the system and online first in order to verify the item and at least
comment about the item. This would cut down on some of the long pauses that she would have in the
calls. I stated that if she shaved off a few seconds here in each phone call that that would help greatly.

What Does Social Justice Mean To You Essay
When I was six years old I accepted Christ. I grew up in a Christian home and was given a Christian
education. My faith has been a big part of my life. It has gotten me through the good, the bad and the
ugly. There have been dry seasons in my faith, but even in those times God has remained faithful.
Each day God is teaching me something new about who He is. He is continually growing me to be
more like Him. It is my faith that pushes me to fight for justice. One of my favorite passages in the
Bible is Psalm 82:2 4, How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Give
justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the
weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. The Gospel is the life, death and
resurrection of Christ. Social justice is in no way the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is the one who ultimately brings justice and hope. I am only a helper who is called to obedience.
My life is not my own, but it is God s to do with as He pleases. The work I would do at IJM would not
be of my own doing, but of Christ in me. He is the ultimate healer and world changer. Since working
in this field takes a lot of faith and trust in God, spiritual disciplines are very important. Over the
years, this is something that God has been growing me in. He has shown me the importance of truly
studying His word and writing it on my heart. When I study His Word, I tend to do it book by book. I
will read a certain book multiple times before moving on to the next book. Each time, Jesus seems to
point out something new. Prayer is also another area where I have grown. I tend to pray all throughout
the day. I like being in constant communication with God. I have learned that prayer is important
when combatting human trafficking. There are situations in which prayer seems to be the only option.
I believe everything should be done with

Alcoholism In The Sun Also Rises
The Sun Also Rises is a deceiving novel. Opening with absolutely riveting scenes such as characters
drinking in a café, characters drinking in a speakeasy, and characters drinking in hotel rooms, the
reader can easily confuse the novel for reality television in print form. But what lies under these
scenes are actually calls of help resonating from the characters. The reason for this desperation is that
Hemingway and his characters are members of The Lost Generation. Dictionary.com defines this
group as men and women who came of age during or immediately following World War I . Due to
WWI causing this abrupt upheaval, many people became disillusioned with their previous civilian
lives; resulting in unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drinking ... Show more content on

There are a few reasons why this is the case. Firstly, the Count is part of a different generation from
the rest of the characters. Analysed by Outi Hakola and Sari Kivistö, Mippipopolous is in his seventies
due to being twenty one during Britain s 1868 expedition to Abyssinia (25). Due to his age,
Mippipopolous has had decades to cope with the tragedies of war compared to the few years The Lost
Generation has had. Shown when Mippipopolous says I have been around very much. I have been
around a very great deal (Hemingway 52), It is entirely possible the Count faced the same issues in
life; the difference being, however, Mippipopolous scars are faded compared to the fresh wounds of
the younger generation. Secondly, Mippipopolous has the funds befitting of a count. When offering
Brett ten thousand dollars to go to Biarritz (28), Mippipopolous shows that he has little to no financial
worries; unlike characters such as Mike Campbell, who sullied away his family inheritance after the
war. Following Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs, this forms a foundation of safety that allows the
comfort needed to focus on one s self, and not just the day to day issues that others face. Finally,
Mippipopolous is one of the few characters that does not show any romantic feelings nor jealousy
towards a specific person. Instead, when asked if he s never fallen in love, the Count cryptically

Avoid Vs Incentive Pay
Year after year, as executive pay continues its inexorable climb, it s amusing to watch corporate
directors try to justify the piles of shareholder money they throw at the hired help (Morgenson 1) .
There are many employees that go the extra mile and produce more for their company, but they often
never receive anything extra in return. Due to this, they are less motivated to go the extra mile in the
future. In contrast, incentive pay is beneficial to an organization s overall production efficiency and
effectiveness.
Employees get bonuses based on incentive compensation of how productive they work. To begin, the

First of all, a convenient starting point for an analysis of pay determination of team sports players is
the marginal productivity theory, which is the workhorse of modern labor economics (Bernd Simmons
1) .This connects with the claim because the marginal productivity theory includes that performance
ends up determining how much the athlete gets paid. This proves what I learned is true because the
theory shows how athletes relates to a worker on how if they work , then incentive compensation is
what is rewarded as a salary is for an athlete. Although salary is determined by hardwork, many fans
may believe player pay to be arbitrarily determined, statistical studies have shown that player salaries
in team sports on both sides of the Atlantic depend on age, experience, and ability (Bernd Simmons
23) . The author s ideas that fans believe that players pay is determined by age, experience, and ability
is a useful belief but sheds light on the difficult problem of realizing an athlete must be hardworking
to be most of the characteristics that fans believe provide the best compensation. By focusing on how
fans believes salaries depend on age, ability, and experience, the author overlooks the deeper problem
of players who are very talented and hardworking but old of age for an athlete which might affect their
salary; I believe this is unfair because age is just a number. In addition, North American players unions
in European soccer have been less effective in bargaining over salaries and employment terms (Bernd
Simmons 8) . This connects with the claim because many North American soccer players can t be
negotiated as much due to the extra work that was put in by them. This proves what I learned is true
because many athletes that put in the extra effort can t be bargained as much due to the reasoning of
their ability of playing their sport very well. To wrap thing up,

Unit 3 Assignment 2 System Security
Assignment 2: System Security As we evolve through time the technology evolves with us. With our
accomplishment in technology we reached beyond our imagination, some things which our ancestors
would only dream on having. But while the technology can be used for good deeds some want to take
advantage of it and gain personal profits. So, countermeasures were created for defending against
them. The system security is a defence mechanism projection against illegal access in a User s/Owner

aware. The system security covers Networking Protection which is an accidental downloading of
software codes like computer viruses, spam, worms, Trojan horses, logic bombs, spyware, and
adware, that create an annoyance, steals, harms or alters data or cripple system capacities. In the
meantime, it also covers Physical Protection preventing others to steal or access your personal

King V Burwell Case Summary
King v. Burwell (2015) is a Supreme Court case involving two parties, the petitioner David King and
the respondent Sylvia Mathews Burwell the Secretary of Health and Human Services. In a brief
background of the case according to Oyez, Congress passed the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act in 2010 to increase the number of Americans covered by health insurance and lower health
care costs. ACA requires each state to establish an exchange in which people can purchase health care;
and if a state chooses not to do so, the federal government establishes one through the Secretary of

Essay on Canada Goose
Individual Case Study:
Canada Goose: The South Korean Opportunity
Question 1:
The six important factors to consider about South Korea s culture is their values, norms, religion,
education, social mobility, and American influences. South Korea was built up by many core values,
however the most important being Confucianism. Confucianism was founded over 2000 years ago in
the fifth century BC and was the official ethical system of China (Hill, Rihcardson, amp; McKaig,
2009). The value of Confucianism was profound in the Korean culture and it still continues to pervade

A poll by the South Korean Anti Corruption and Civil Rights Commission found that 76.8% of middle
and high school students considered South Korea to be corrupt due to nepotism (Irwin, 2010).
Corruption can never fully be nonexistent, thus it must be taken into consideration when starting a
business in a foreign country. Furthermore, environmental pollution raises ethical issues when host
nations are more inferior to the home nation (Hill, Richardson, amp; McKaig, 2009). South Korea had
significantly evolved in urbanization since the 1960s, and it is evident that their environmental
standards have evolved as well. The government launched the Green New Deal in 2009 that
committed to establishing environmental projects (Irwin, 2010). This aligns with Canada Goose s
corporate standards in environmental ethics. In addition, South Korea had taken on the initiative to
create a code of ethics for almost all major businesses. A great challenge would be to match with the
standards of Korea s code of ethics for Canada Goose. Lastly, corporate responsibility management is
another factor to consider when entering a new market. Most South Korean businesses are adopting
corporate responsibility by focusing more on philanthropy and community engagement. This
correlates with Dani Reiss corporate responsibility as the leader advocate for Polar Bear International
(PBI).

The five advantages of entering the South Korean market are the exclusivity, demographics,

Folly of Science Exposed in Shelley s Frankenstein and E.T.A. Hoffman s Sandman
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein and E.T.A. Hoffman s Sandman, elements of science are portrayed in

technology are portrayed from alchemy and robotics in the Sandman to biology and chemistry in

In his later actions, Frankenstein again behaves obsessively, by pursuing his own creation, absolutely
confident that only its revengeful death would provide a solution, no matter what the cost.
In the case of Nathaniel, we see the same type of obsession although, due to the shortness of The
Sandman and its purposeful fog , we don t have enough information to competently judge Nathaniel s
actions. The result, nevertheless, is strikingly similar. Nathaniel, incapable of recovering from his first
obsession about the Sandman is only to fall into another extremity in his love towards the lifeless
Olympia. How ironic are his own words, O you glorious profound nature ... only you, you alone,
understand me completely.
It should be noted that during the rest of the time, Frankenstein is rather inactive and passive, always
providing a moral excuse for that. He does not realize the deceitful nature of his behavior when he
undergoes one his regular spasms of desire to return to the virtues of domesticity, the amiableness of
domestic affection . Nathaniel, as well, exhibits the futileness of his passive response to his condition
when he deceivingly thinks that a return to a normal, domestic life will erase all his nightmares.

Analysis Of Bill Gates And Steve Jobs
Capstone Word Project The two men I am about to explain have shape the technology world
drastically. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are some of the biggest names in technology, they are digital
pioneers. They founded their companies almost at the same time, both being the leaders in their fields
they have created some of the largest and most profitable companies in the technology world. Without
these two men the smartphones and computers we have today might be a lot different. Bill Gates
founded Microsoft and Steve Jobs was the co founder of Apple. Bill Gates was one of the original
pioneers of software, Job s the pioneer of personal and handheld computers.
Bill Gates is the founders and primary shareholder of Microsoft, which has become the world s
leading software manufacture. The complex relationship between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs began in
the late 1970s, when Microsoft was making most of its money writing software for the Apple II. When
Jobs began developing the original Macintosh in the early 1980s, he wanted Microsoft to create for it
a version of BASIC, an easy to use programming language, as well as some application software, such
as word processing, charts, and spreadsheet programs. So he flew up to visit Gates in his office near
Seattle and spun an enticing vision of what the Macintosh would be: a computer for the masses, with a
friendly graphical interface. Gates signed on to do graphical versions of a new spreadsheet called

Technology Development In The Machine Stops By E. M. Forster
The Machine Stops by E.M Forster is a story that predicts the downfall of humanity through the
development of machinery. It is a story that captures the future and what may the future lead to if
humanity relays totally on technology development. A machine that controls everything around human
life leaving nothing else to do, anything humans want symbolizes a big role in the inhuman and
humanized part. Through these characters the reader could relate to Forster vision and consequences
that technology development may lead to in the future.
The main characters in the story Vashti the mother and the son Kuno, both represent a big role in the
story. Both of them represent the significations of the influence through the effects of technology
development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forster explains in his story, how that replacement of technology in the future will eventually bring the
result of extreme dehumanization and materialization. He uses the machine as a theme to symbolize
the consequences of technology development. The machine is set in this story to replace everything
that human needs. It fulfilled the needs of humans and also controlled everything around them.
Keeping all the people trapped underground forbidden to go to the surface of the earth. As if the
machine became a source of life, religion worship, ideas and law to control the live of human beings.
Explaining the idea in the story that technology will not only harm and destroy human beings it will
also destroy earth itself. Forster predication in this story is slightly coming true. Everything in our
word today, is being controlled by technology machinery. Half the populations of the world cant live
without technology development. Also this kind of Technology development is being harmful to
natural life and human life. Creating weapons and destructive machinery that could destroy the earth
and humans. Technology development has really increased so massively controlling mostly everything

The Satanic Verses Analysis
In The Satanic Verses, numerous symbols illustrate how human nature is the source of the evil.
Furthermore, the symbolic significance that pertains to the main character also shows how all
individuals have both good and bad qualities. A repeating motif in the book is the reference to the play
Othello . Skapearses famous play follows the life of the Moor Othello after is marriage to Desdemona.
Iago, a loyal friend of Othello, was furious that the Moor overlooked him for a promotion, sparking
his lust for revenge. Iago devised a plan to persuade the King that his had been having an affair with
his trusted friend Cassio. Iago s actions resulted in the Moor killing Desdemona. After learning the
truth, Othello committed suicide. The references to the play foreshadow the ending of the novel but
also gives further explanations to the actions of Gibreel. The first mentions of Othello only occurred to
criticize Shakespeare because he couldn t spell (256). The primary reference occurs when Gibreel
wondered about the creation of evil, why it grows, how it takes unilateral possession of a many sided
human soul. Or, let s say: the enigma of Iago (439). Gibreel continues by denying his allegations
saying he s, no match for the moor (439). Gibreel turns out to me more naive than the moor because
the events that occur in Othello are mirrored in the novel. Gibreel assumes the role of Othello, Saladin
Iago, and Gibreel s love interest Allie Cone, Desdemona. Gibreel inherited the

Social and emotional
Albert Bandura s studies concluded that environment causes behaviour but that behaviour causes
environment, too. He referred to this idea as reciprocal determination, believing that an individual s
actions and the actions of the world around him are intertwined. As his work progressed, he further
stated that personality is an interaction of outside influences behaviour, and an individual s
psychological processes. Bandura s early research work focused primarily on observational learning
which is simply learning from observing the actions of others. He believed that once someone had
witnessed another s behaviour, they may be inclined to adopt this behaviour as their own, ultimately
building it into their personality profile. Parents who raise children in a caring, supportive
environment can certainly contribute to their children s abilities to develop good self esteem, enabling
the children to better deal with outside situations and influences that they are sure to encounter in their
life.

way to protect ourselves is to build structures of perpetual deferral: I ll see you next week, let s talk
soon (Gopnik 158). He feels that adults need to deal with the problems in a way to make time for their
family and friends. These individuals should not push their problems aside and wait for a later date to
deal with the situation and approach the issue with determination to complete the job. Social media
activism motivates the individual to help a cause, but there is little sacrifice in creating an impact. The
situation may not affect their family and friends so they are not motivated to go further and exceed
expectations. Since technology makes adults feel busy, individuals feel overworked and at a sense of
hardship because they feel it is not important enough to embrace the assignment at hand. Just as
Gopnik stated, de Botton took this applying the behavior of optimistic insight and imposing goal
allowing an individual to change their behavior without changing the physical environment.
Unfortunately, many individuals lack this tool in approaching environment they are familiar with.
Alain de Botton explains that destination is now what fulfills our goals and says, The pleasure we
derive from journeys is perhaps dependent more on the mindset in which we travel than on the
destination we travel to (de Botton 61). If an individual applies the behavior of an

The Haymarket Affair
The Haymarket Affair
For many, America is not just the country they happen to live in but also it is a place of freedoms,
liberties and independencies and even a refuge for some people. In 1886 though, a group of people
attempted to share their opinion in Haymarket Square, Chicago, which led to a dangerous riot and a
series of trials with convictions and executions. Throughout the affair, innocent lives were lost, people
were wrongly accused, and the judicial system was revealed as flawed. Throughout the trial,
Constitutional rights were overlooked in the name of prejudice and because of fear, just to please the
public. The Haymarket Affair involved a violent riot caused by overbearing police officers; it also
involved unfair trials ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the close of trial proceedings, the judge informed the jury that they could find the eight accused to
be guilty even if the crime was committed by someone who was not charged. He also said that it was
not necessary for the state to know the identity of the bomber or to prove that the bomber had read any
of the articles or poster of the charged anarchists. Though the judge, prosecutor, and jury can be
considered misguided in their bias and actions of injustice, some of the witnesses against the accused
are widely acknowledged as liars. In comparison to the eyewitnesses of the defendants, every part of
their details went against those of the witnesses of the police.
Though the defendants faced prejudice and discrimination, they kept on with their cases and appeals
until the verdicts were determined. The attorneys of the accused were Black and Swett. Along with the
allegation that Grinnell s witnesses were lying, the defending lawyers said that none of the eight had
intended for any form violence and they even offered proof that some of the accused were not even
near Haymarket Square on May 4th. Furthermore along with their apparent innocence, six of the eight
were not present when the bomb went off, and the two that were there, Spies and Samuel Fielden were
both in plain view of the crowd and police. Despite the logic of the defendant s case, passion and
prejudice led the jury to conclude that the bombing was a direct result of a deliberate conspiracy.

Evil Character In Othello
It has been observed that there is diversity in the epic character of Othello and because of that various
behavioral and psychological swings are observed and found from act 3 and were encountered till act
5.
It has been perceived that the gullible character of Othello was transformed into the villainous monster
on the basis of his ensign Iago s evil speeches in act 3. Iago was considered as the most sinister villain
in Shakespeare s world as it is said,
Iago stands supreme among Shakespeare s evil character (A.C Bradley, 1992)
It s a commonly accepted notion, that, because Iago s insinuation, Othello s love was astray, which
depicts the frailty of Othello and his love. But it has been observed that Othello himself was

my wife,, what did st not like...as if thou hadst shut up in thy brain some horrible conceit if thou dost

The conversation In between Othello and Iago showed that Othello himself owned some suspicions
with regards to Desdemona before Iago s insinuations. It seems as he himself wants to hear the
disloyalty of Desdemona as it was not Iago who wants to make Othello think in such a manner but it
was Othello who wants Iago to speak of his wife s infidelity. In the other words it could be said that
there was pre exiting bud of jealousy in Othello s mind which is blossomed with the watering of Iago s
insinuations.
The hamartia of Othello was also encountered in at 3 where he has two major flaws first jealousy and
poor judgment. He found his ensign, the most loyal and trust worthy as he said, This hones creature
doubtless sees and knows more than he unfolds (Shakespeare, act 3, scene 3, p.57)
While on the other hand, sexual jealousy and inferiority complex is found in Othello s utterances as he

A Comparison of God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide...
God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea
Jane Eyre, from Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Antoinette Mason, from Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso
Sea, both depict very different creeds. While Bronte created Jane with a Christian background, Rhys
has birthed Antoinette into a more primitive, confused faith. Analyzing each writer s description of the
red room will reveal the religious nature of their characters.
In both texts, the rooms are symbolic of church. As Jane is sent to the bedroom of her dead uncle,
Bronte relates it to a place of worship. A bed supported on massive pillars of mahogany, hung with
curtains of deep red damask, stood out like a tabernacle in the center . Due to the vast size and
illustrious beauty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, she did recognize the room as a church. I looked around for the altar for with so many
candles and so much red, the room reminded me of a church . Rhys vocalizes through Antoinette that
the room was like a church without an altar . Void of a sanctuary, the room is in essence, void of God.
Despite her want of God, Antoinette has no Divine guidance as she remains in the altar less room.
Rhys has created this room in Antoinette s dream ergo she has control over Antoinette s religious state.
Due to this circumstance, Antoinette will never remember God because Rhys will never allow her to
dream of Him.
Heaven is exemplified in both books. Out of these deep surrounding shades rose high, and glared
white, the piled up mattresses and pillows of the bed, spread with a snowy Marseilles counterpane .
With this image of white pillows and mattresses floating up in the red room, clouds in the celestial
skies are represented. Bronte has brought to Jane a church, a tabernacle, God s throne, and now
heaven. Since Bronte has deluged Jane with all of these pious suggestions, she has adumbrated Jane s
religious associations. No doubt Jane believes in God; Bronte has assured the readers by making His
omnipresence known through the images in the room and allowing Jane to accept them. On the other
hand, Rhys makes Antoinette out to be a skeptic. I lit them [candles] carefully from the one I was

In a farmhouse near Corsica, Ohio, the United States twenty ninth president was born. Warren
Gamaliel Harding was the eldest of George and Phoebe Harding s eight children. In July of 1891,
Harding got married to Florence Kling. They were married for the remainder of his life. Kling, whom
had married once before, had a child from her previous marriage, but her and Warren did not have any
children together. Warren G. Harding was the president from 1921 to 1923 representing the
Republican Party. When inaugurated, he was fifty five years old. Harding did not get to finish out his
term because he died in 1923 at San Francisco. Although President Harding did not serve in the
military before his time as president, he had a rather extensive business background. After graduating
from Ohio Central College, Harding tried out several careers, like teaching, law, and the insurance
business. But he did not find anything he liked until he went into the field of journalism. Harding had
actually worked on a newspaper during his college years called Iberia Spectator. This experience
helped him later in life in his journalism career. Warren G. Harding first worked for the Marion
Mirror, but his Republican views clashed with the Democratic paper and he was fired. Later on in the
year, the Marion Star went bankrupt and with the help of his father, Harding bought out the
newspaper. His newspaper was a such a success that Warren published a weekly version of the

This case is about the design of Ford Pinto specifically the gas tank that was in a dangerous place that

Descriptive Essay About Oxygen
Adopt an Element: Oxygen I look down at my periodic table that my chemistry teacher had just
handed out to me. It contained a variety of colors and elements. It s amazing how so many elements
exists, I wonder if I can be someone so amazing to discover a new element. I run my hand over the
newly copied, thin paper. I abruptly stop at the right side of the paper, where my pointer finger points
at the first element of column 16 and the sixth element of period 2. Its name is oxygen. What s so
special about oxygen? For some odd reason I feel a special pull towards the element, a feeling of
nostalgia and feeling of satisfaction and loyalty. Oxygen is a colourless, odourless gas, in which all
kinds of animals, plants, and bacteria use to respirate. That s all I know about it, or what I thought. My
eyes skim at the word. I lift my hand off of the table. I shake my head and the let the thought away, I
can t really be connected to this element, can I? I doze off for the rest of class, barely listening to a
word my teacher says. That night, I whip up my computer and go to google.com. My fingers agiley
type in the word, oxygen . However, I do not dare click the enter button nor the search button. What if
I really am connected to this gas? I gulp and take a deep breath before pressing enter. A range of
selections pop up, from a tv show to fitness centers. I skim through the sites, not long before clicking
on a site called rsc.org to read what oxygen really is. The first thing I

Essay On Cursive Writing
As of 2010 cursive writing is not required to graduate high school. It s a shame, not only is it good for
the brain but it is a lost art. Cursive writing is an essential skill and not for what people might guess.
It has been shown in studies that writing by hand helps people remember ideas better and also to learn
more than typing on a computer. It has been shown that writing things down by hand helps you to
process the material better. It also requirs you to summarize what you are to write down and write

where students who took test notes on laptops and by hand those those who took notes by hand had

Bushnell has two features to increase light transmission in the Elite Tactical scope. The first is the
oversize 50mm objective lens. A larger objective lens, or opening, simply allows the scope to gather
more light. This makes vision in low light conditions much better. Second, Bushnell applies their Ultra
Wide Band Coating to the lenses to cut down light reflection. Both of these features combine to
maximize this scope s light gathering ability.
Weatherproof
As people with glasses know, moisture is the enemy of all optics. Rifle scopes are no exception.
Bushnell s Rainguard HD lens coating repels moisture to prevent blurring and fogging, even in the
rain. On the inside of the scope, a nitrogen purge acts as a barrier to moisture to prevent fogging as
well. A little rain isn t going to affect your shooting with this scope.
Parallax Adjustment
All high quality scopes have an adjustment to eliminate errors due to parallax. The Elite Tactical has a
convenient adjustment on the side that enables the shooter to adjust parallax to the desired shooting
distance from a shooting position. This is a great feature that most precision shooters will

John Bowlby Attachment Theory Research Paper
In the late 1960 s John Bowlby created the attachment theory. The attachment theory is a concept in
developmental psychology, which in personal development concerns the importance of attachment.
Specifically, it makes the claim that the ability for an individual to form an emotional and physical
attachment to another person. It gives a sense of ability and security necessary to take risks, to branch
out, to grow, and develop a personality. The attachment theory is mainly focused on long term
relationships and bonds, particularly between a parent and child.
Bowlby defines the attachment theory as a lasting psychological connectedness between human
beings. Comfort, security, and nourishment come with the formation of attachment bonds. Bowlby

Cognitive neuroscience categorised as one of the many approaches to human cognition, focuses on the
study of both the brain and behaviour in collaboration. Evidence from such approaches can be used to
understand in depth, the mental processes forming cognition. Consequently, this contributes to our
understanding of the mind. Despite vast development in this field, various challenges are posed as no
single method can answer every question raised due to its limitations and therefore must be combined
in order to produce a more reliable understanding. Cognitive psychology was the first to make

Brain imaging techniques used by cognitive neuroscientist s aid research into such field by analysing
the different parts of the brain that become active when a certain task is performed. The main
technique that can be discussed in the role of trying to understand the mind is Functional magnetic
resonance imaging. This technique uses an MRI machine to measure brain activity by looking at
changes in one s blood flow. Stern et al, 1996 carried out research into the parts of the brain crucial for
encoding and storage of information in the long term memory store. Using fMRI, participants were
monitored while performing a novel picture encoding task. Evidence was provided to show that the
encoding of these pictures depends on how the ventral cortical regions and the hippocampal region
interact. This highlights a link between the two which therefore creates a valid contribution to our
understanding of the mind as it identifies the parts of the brain crucial for engaging in essential mental
processes. On the other hand, although this link can be identified, the method used by cognitive
neuroscientists cannot explain exactly how the hippocampal formation is crucial in the encoding of
information in long term memory meaning that it cannot be explained as to why it is needed and what
exactly would happen to the encoding process if damage to this formation was to occur. In terms of
the technique itself, low temporal resolution and high expense can be noted as another

Detention Argumentative Essay
Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach that man to fish and he will never go hungry. The
same can be said for behavior correction in our youth. Give the child detention, and he will not be

clear minded and thoughtful choices for a lifetime. Detention is a disciplinary action that tells the
student they made a bad choice with their behavior. However, it does not teach the student how to
make better behavior choices. Detention has been around for many years as the solution for disruptive
and ill behaved children, however; the rise in diagnosed anxiety disorders among teenagers is 25%.
With suicide now the third leading cause of death among young teenagers, (Lynch, 2016) it is clear,

John Smith vs. William Bradford Laura Ward To many Europeans in the early 17th century the
Americas seemed as a new land of opportunity. John Smith and William Bradford were two of the first
men who left England seeking adventure and freedom in the New World. Both groups had difficulties
while trying to form their colonies and Smith and Bradford were both elected to lead. While they were
both great leaders they had very different lives before their journey from England. While starting their
new colonies they also took different approaches to making the land habitable. One of the most

Smith returned to England in 1609 after being accidentally being wounded. John Smith had a very
interesting writing style; he was able to add his own special flourishes to his work while keeping it
informative. His journal was a way for him to encourage more people to come to Jamestown or settle
their own colonies. In his journal he often glossed over the bad things that happened or explained that
all of the problems were due to inexperience. His journal showed all of the adventure but little of the
consequences and there were several times that he could have died. Smith was an egoist and his
writing reflects the way he would build himself up though several of the events in his journal that are
unlikely to have ever happened. William Bradford, like Smith, was born in England and became an
orphan young in his life. In his youth he lived with several different family members but never stayed
anywhere too long. When he was 12 years old he began attending a separatist church the neighboring
town of Scrooby. By the time he was 17 he was a full member of the church and considered separating
from the official Church of England. Seeking religious freedom Bradford and other members of the

Methodology
I initially wished to conduct the study on the basis of informal interactions of interviews. Prior
experience had taught me that it is rare that participants of the study are extremely comfortable
answering a lengthy questionnaire. Therefore I wanted to do away with the questionnaire. But senior
employees of Akshara made me realise that it might not be such a bad idea to get a basic
understanding of the issue through a questionnaire. Therefore I kept the questionnaire as the last thing
as part of the methodology. I had undertaken informal interactions then had gone into full fledged
interviews and then administered a questionnaire.

T-Shirts In The Global Economy
Every morning, many women begin planning their outfits even before they stroll out of bed. . Will it
be a red or pink top, casual or dressy, jeans or sweatpants? These are just few of the countless
decisions to be made that morning. Do they ever stop for a second to reflect on how these clothes were
even made? Throughout our recorded history, businesses in many production based industries faced
challenges to meet their supply and demand needs. In the book The Travels of a T shirt in The Global
Economy, the author Pietra Rivoli does a great job with bringing her readers along with her on her
little journey that evolved after her single purchase of a T shirt from a local Walgreens. Upon
purchasing the T shirt she wanted to dig deeper and see where did it all began. Due to her devoted soul
she began traveling the world from West Texas to China and even all the way to Africa. This one
product was the motive behind her understanding of the entire international trading system and
globalization debate that now thousands of individuals are benefiting from. We have ... Show more

The Reinsches owned a 1,000 acre land where every year 500,000 pounds of cotton lint were
successfully planted. This 500,000 pounds of cotton produced roughly 1.3 million T shirts (Rivoli,
2005). It is of no doubt that the success of their business was due to their passion and dedication.
Nelson said he had only missed four cotton harvests and all of them were during his service in the
World War II (Rivoli, 2005). For them, there was no such thing as the good old days because they
continue to remain positive and agree that every day brings a lesson with it, and so they learn. After
this brief introduction of the couple, Rivoli jumps right into the big question, how is it for the last 200
years the U.S has been able to stay embedded as the number one leader in cotton

Being A Black Woman Essay
Being a black woman, Tiana has many pressures since she has to deal with poverty and
discrimination. Influenced by her mother, she decided to go to university because she believed that
only education can help her figure out what exactly happened to black women and how to deal with
these issues. She insisted that women are capable of exercising equal political and social rights with
men. With this belief, Tiana studied hard and got pay off. She was admitted to study at NYU with a
Major in Gender and Sexuality Studies. At NYU, she took many classes related to women, race, and
history, such as Social and Cultural Analysis, Minority Women in America, and Minority Women in
America. She learned how women were described as a weak group in terms of body, intelligence, and
psychology; she learned why gender stereotypes became the excuses to legitimately exclude women

women far away from power center, Tiana decided to work for a national organization fighting for

should do something for people who are unable to do for themselves.
As mentioned in the introduction, racial segregation exists in the educational area; not every black
people has an opportunity to pursue a high degree but Tiana did. Tiana s experience and cultural
identity motivated her to explore the ways in which minority groups were formed in the U.S., figure
out the social, economic, political and sexual realities of women of color, and understand how race,
ethnicity, gender, and sexuality intertwine and impact women of color. With knowledge about race and
gender, Tiana finds her life goal, which is to devote herself to the feminism and racial

Carrie Mae Weems and Hank Willis Thomas are two contemporary artists who are defying
contemporary social and political categories and taking art photo into an engage era. The essays by
Annie E Coombes provide a critical analysis of how the contemporary scene is moving beyond
categories of post modern, and post race. Both are efforts to rescue contemporary artists who are
dealing with forms of oppression from being described as old fashion or out of date.
Carrie Mae Weems is an African American photographer. She was born in 1953 in Portland, Oregon

The work of Hank Willis Thomas is very much post in the sense of beyond not against. His work
draws on modernist critiques of commercialism and racism but combines them in striking ways that
make them more acute and totally in tune with today s realities. Blacks are not longer simply victims
or simple, that is, closer to nature, untouched by modernism. These are the agents and object of
commercialism and they bring the historical consciousness of racism into the frame. Carrie Mae
Weems and Hank Willis Thomas, both African American artists working in the field of photography.
Their work is similar as they both discusses the themes of race, identity, popular cultures, but do it in a
different way. Carrie Mae Weems finds hidden racist themes in anthropological photographic styles.
Hanks Willis Thomas work draws on modernist critiques of commercialism and racism but combines
them in striking ways that fits today s realities. They both can be seen as a different generation with a
different take on racism that makes them postmodern while still engage with issues related to race.
Weems and Thomas are both artists, which are carrying on a distinctly American tradition in politics
and art that is conscious of race and racism. Both are however moving into new areas and could be
called postmodern or post racism. Both critiques are trying to reclaim the post political, or reposition
political involvement in art. Art that is new

Tommy John s Surgery
The surgery was frist performed in 1974 by orthopedic surgen Dr. Frank Jobe, was named after the
first baseball player to undergo this surgery; Tommy John was the major league pitcher whose record
of 288 career victories ranks seventh all time. This procedure is made to help a person with UCL also
known as ulnar collateral ligament also known as the elbow. The procedure is common among
collegiate and professional athletes in several sport, but most in baesball. The procedure goes as
follow, the patient s arm is open up aroung the elbow. Holes to accommodate a new tendon are drilled
in the ulna and humerus ones of the elbow. The doctor then gets a tendon such as the palmaris tendon
from the forearm of the same or opposite elbow, the patellar tendon, or a cadeveric tendon. Which are
ten woven in a figure eight pattern through the holes and anchored. The ulnar nevre is usually moved
to prevent pain as scar tissue can appy pressure to the nerve. At the time of the first operation, Jobe put
John s odds at returning to pitch 1 in 100. After his 1974 surgery, John spent 18 months rehabilitating
his arm, returning for the 1976 season. He would go on to pitch in the major leagues until 1989 at age
46. The chances of a complete recovery after the modern surgery are estimated at 85 to 90 percent.

Self Definition
Self definition Throughout history black women have been stereotyped and put into many different
roles in society. Black women, it seems, have become the scapegoat for many issues and problems and
have been misrepresented usually by men, mostly by white men. Through the creation of the mammy,
the sapphire, the Jezebel, the strong black woman and more, black women have been misrepresented
and portrayed in negative ways in society. In a response to this labeling, black women have begun to
tell their own stories and speak out for themselves. Through their writings, black women writers have
been able to dispel the stereotypes of black women by showing the truth, the true story of the women,
told by the woman. Doing this, they have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m thinking bout telling Bovanne what a lovely dress Nisi got on instead I just haul the man on out

different manner, instead of using the women s thoughts she uses their actions. The expectations of the
reader are because of the upbringing and personal connection of Sula and Nel. The reader experiences
situational irony in upbringing through Nel and irony in the women s personal connection through
Sula. It may seem as if Nel will not become like her mother, leave the town, travel, become chaotic
and take chances. For days afterward she imagined other trips she would take Leaving Medallion
would be her goal (Morrison 29). Nel does none of this and settles into the life of the Bottom and
contrary to what the reader expects, she grows up to be almost exactly like her mother. Yet it is not
expected that Nel would do this and it is surprising when it happens. Morrison spends great detail
explaining the upbringing of both Nel and Sula to show that they are exact opposites, foils of each
other and the attraction that each has towards their different lives. Nel, grows up with a strict mother,
she is restricted by her mother and is never able to express herself. Her household is quiet and
reserved, in a sense, perfect and her mother is involved in the community and works hard to kill the
imagination and drive of her daughter. Sula grows up

How Has Physical Theatre Changed Over Time Essay
How has physical theatre developed over time?
Physical theatre is a form of performance where movement and physicality of the body has the main
part within a performance. There are several quite distinct traditions of performance which all describe
themselves using the term physical theatre , which has led to a lot of confusion as to what the
definition of physical theatre actually is. The term physical theatre has been applied to performances
consisting mainly of mime, contemporary dance, theatrical clowning and other physical comedy (such
as slapstick), puppetry and mask work and theatrical acrobatics and lifts. One of the early practitioners
of physical theatre was Artaud. His ideas included total theatre, wherein actors appeal to all ... Show

The development of English pantomime was strongly influenced by commedia dell arte. This was a
comedy of professional artists travelling from province to province in Italy and then France, who
improvised and told comic stories that held lessons for the crowd, changing the main character
depending on where they were performing. Pantomime mainly incorperated song, dance, buffoonery,
slapstick, cross dressing, in jokes, topical references, audience participation, and mild sexual
innuendo. The general movement within Pantomime creates physical theatre as the storyline is
presented to the audience mainly through lifts, dance and slapstick, although performers also use their
voice throughout.
The Theatre of the Absurd is the name for particular plays of absurdist fiction written by a number of
primarily European playwrights in the late 1950s, as well as one for the style of theatre which has
evolved from their work. Their work expressed what happens when human existence has no meaning
or purpose and therefore all communication breaks down, alerting their audiences to pursue the
opposite. The Absurd in these plays takes the form of man s reaction to a world apparently without
meaning, and/or man as a puppet controlled or menaced by invisible outside forces. Theatre of the
Absurd consisted of horrific or tragic images; characters caught in

Guilt And Guilt In Macbeth

English 2, Period 5

The Feeling of Guilt
Guilt is cancer. Guilt will confine you, torture you, and destroy you as an artist. It s a black wall. It s a
thief Dave Grohl. In the play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Shakespeare shows how guilt can cause
terrible consequences. The Tragedy of Macbeth is a story about a Scottish general, Macbeth, who
receives a prophecy from a group of witches that one day he will be the King of Scotland. Intrigued by
the news, Macbeth is willing to do anything it takes to be King. Manipulated by his wife, Macbeth
then ends up murdering the King and takes the throne for himself. But after contemplating on the
repulsive act that he had just done, all Macbeth is left with is a loss of words and a heart full of guilt
all because of his wife. In the play, Shakespeare uses a huge variety of imagery to show how some
mistake may cost you your life.
In the play, Shakespeare uses sleep imagery to show how guilt is one of the worst feeling in the world.
People say that guilt is just an emotion that ll go away in seconds, but others think that guilt is the
worst thing to encounter. For example, after Lady Macbeth manages to convince Macbeth to kill the
King, he is then entered into an emotional stage of guilt. In Act II Scene 2, Macbeth says, One cried
God bless us! and Amen the other, As they had seen me with these hangman s hands: List ning their
fears, I could not say Amen, When they did say God bless us!

Water Shortage in California is Ruining the Farmers Essay
Water is a precious resource. It is the lifeblood of every living thing on Earth. California is in the
midst of a water crisis. Combined with a three (plus) year drought and many people moving into the
state there is not enough water to support the crops the farmers need to grow. There is also a tiny little
fish that is causing a mess in the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta. The Delta water pumps were turned
off to prevent the extinction of the tiny little fish. Some farmers have to let their fields sit idle for the
fall and spring planting season. This is causing a lot of problems in California. The pumps need to be
turned back on. The needs of the people should come before that of a fish.

The Sacramento San Joaquin Delta supplies almost two thirds of the state with water. Many plants and
animals live in the Delta. One of them is a tiny three inch fish called the Delta smelt. It is due to the
endangerment of this fish that the pumps that supply many of the farmlands in the state with water to
grow crops were shut off. The fish were getting caught in the pumps. This caused the
environmentalists to file a suit to get the pumps shut off. When the suit was won it was hard blow to
the farmers. Having to worry about getting enough rain every year is enough of a burden to them.
Now the water they need to grow crops was shut off for a fish. Humanity is more important than a tiny
fish.
Due to the shut off many farmers did not get the rationing of water they need to plant, so many fields
will sit idle this fall and spring. California produces 53% of the nation s fruits and vegetables.
California is also the leading food producer to the world. Some people do not even know California is
facing a water crisis, and more of them did not know California is the Nation s food producer. In a
recent survey 76% knew of the water crisis; however, only 56% of them knew that California is the
leading food producer. With many of the state s fields sitting idle this fall and spring it is going to
cause the produce prices to increase. It also causes the loss of thousands of jobs. An outraged woman

Ethics, Morality, And Legality Of Hacking Essay
Addison Cryblskey
Mr. Bennett
Net Admin
7 September 2016
Ethics, Morality, and Legality of Hacking
Ethics are defined as moral principles, as of an individual. Giving dropped money back to a blind man
is an example of good ethics. I believe in having a strong sense of ethics. Morality or morals can be
defined as of, relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction
between right and wrong. I believe having a good moral sense is crucial to participate in the world.
Without one, you can make a lot of people angry, or you could get fired from a job. Legality or the
laws which govern us are rules we are forced to live by. They keep us in line and stop us from doing
unjust things. I believe in laws. Without them people who don t have strong morals, or who are
unethical, would be able to damage society.
The difference between Ethics, Morals, and Laws is slim. Morals make up ethics. Legality takes
ethical practices and tells you things you can t do based on what most people think of as right and
wrong.
Computer hacking can be both ethical and unethical. Ethical hacking is when something is hacked
legally and helps better the community. For example operating systems are usually hacked by their
creators to see what the vulnerabilities are, and then they are fixed or patched. The most serious issue
in the computer world (and in the presidential race) is unethical hacking. Unethical hacking is when
someone steals data for their own gain,

Sydney Carton Hero
The ideas of heroism in a Victorian sense are very different than those ideas of a hero in Anglo Saxon
literature. The most obvious hero in A Tale of Two Cities is Sydney Carton, but he emerges very
differently than Beowulf. It was never clearly mentioned in the novel that Carton was a hero, so
Dickens expected the reader to infer that that was so. It also wasn t until book three that Carton
became a truly dynamic character and ultimately became the hero he sought to be. Careless and
slovenly if not debauched (Dickens 55) was how Dickens described Carton s character in book one.
He is merely a man, and a flawed man at the beginning of the novel. Carton s imperfections and
impurities set the stage for his later actions that will prove him a hero and also ... Show more content

to her room, her child cries out to him, I think you will do something to help mamma, something to
save papa ... can you, of all the people who love her, bear to see her so? As Carton leaves, he murmurs
a few significant words under his breath: A life you love (Dickens 260). Finally, Carton sacrifices his
own self to the Guillotine and ultimately the revolution in place of Darnay, again, out of his love and
compassion for Lucie. His final thoughts are some of the most famous lines in the entire novel, It is a
far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go than I have ever

himself for the love he would never

  • 2. marco polo Essay Marco Polo Marco Polo was born in c.1254 in Venice. He was a Venetian explorer and merchant whose account of his travels in Asia was the primary source for the European image of the Far East until the late 19th century. Marco s father, Niccolo, and his uncle Maffeo had traveled to China in 1260 1269 as merchants. Despite Marco s enduring fame very little was known about the personal life of Marco Polo. It is known that he was born into a leading Venetian family of merchants. He also lived during a propitious time in world history, when the height of Venice s as a city state coincided with the greatest extent of Mongol conquest of Asia. (http://darter.ocps.k12.fl.us/classroom/who/darter1/polo.htm ) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marco and his party encountered such hazards as wild beasts and brigands. They also met with beautiful women, in whom young Marco took a special interest. Under the Khan s protection the Polo s were able to observe a large portion of the Islamic world at close range. By the time they reached the Khan s court in Khanbalik, Marco had become a hardened traveler. He had also received a unique education and had been initiated into manhood. Kublai Khan greeted the Polo s warmly and invited them to stay in his court. The Polo s became great favorites of the Khan, and Kublai eventually made Marco one of his most trusted emissaries. On these points Marco has been accused of gross exaggeration, and the actual status of the Polo s at the court of Khan s is much disputed. For political reasons the Khan was in the habit of appointing foreigners to administer conquered lands, particularly China, where the tenacity of the Chinese bureaucracy was legendary. The Khan could also observe for himself that young Marco was a good Candidate. Finally, Marco reported back so successfully from his first mission, informing the Khan not only on business details but also on colorful customs and other interesting trivia. (Marco Polo in China) The Polo s stayed on the court for seventeen years. Apparently, the elder Polo s carried on their trading while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Id Ego Superego In A Long Way Gone The Id, Ego and Super Ego of Ishmael Beah In his story A Long Way Gone Ishmael Beah struggles to balance his id, ego and superego during his time of recovery at UNICEF s rehabilitation center. The id, ego, and superego are terms that Sigmund Freud introduced to explain differences in the unconscious mind. The id is of the unconscious the part of our minds in which our drives towards pleasures and bodily needs, such as self preservation, aggression, and sexual urges are found this unconscious part is the primary of the unconscious this is is also primitive. I like to think when eating a cake my id will want the whole thing accepting the calories and all. The ego is the balance between the id and superego and is actually conscious. Our ego ... He has shut off and is mannerly but not overjoyed when reconnecting. The most prevalent sign that his superego has taken over is when he and his uncle are talking After he stopped laughing, he sighed and said Ah, your after and I, we did too many troublesome things. If you are as troublesome as we were, I will give you some leeway, because it wouldn t be fair for me to get down on you He put his arm around my shoulder. I think my troublesome days are long gone I said sadly (175). I think this shows he has really giving up on pleasure seeking on his id. After this we see that he does not really enjoy himself when presented to have fun or anything of the sort. When Ishmael moves in with his uncle he is quite distant and just well ... • 5. Courageous Conversations About Race by Glenn E. Singleton... Courageous Conversations About Race: Chapter 5 Authors Glenn E. Singleton and Curtis Linton in Chapter Five of Courageous Conversations About Race broach the topic of race, by asking the reader to evaluate his or her own consciousness of race. According to the authors, in order to address the achievement gaps between African American students and White students, educators should shift their energy towards focusing on the factors that they have direct control of inside the classroom rather than on the factors that influence this achievement disparity between races outside the classroom. The first step towards addressing the racial achievement gap begins with educators addressing his or her individual racial attitudes for, as the authors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Growing up in Park Ridge, Illinois was significantly different from where I was born in Morristown, New Jersey. One of the most startling differences was apparent in the make up of the student body. In Morristown, I attended an elementary school with a diverse student body; many of my schoolmates were African American and I remember even at a young age, students regardless of race interacting all together without any sense of stigma attached to it. In that sense, while attending elementary school, since it was the norm to have friends of different races, I did not think very much of my race. However, in contrast to living in Morristown, when I moved to Park Ridge, Illinois at the start of middle school, I will never forget meeting my classmates for the first time only to realize not one was of a different race. In fact, there was not one African American in my entire middle school! This was shocking to me. Transferring from a diverse school community to a completely homogenous school community made me more aware of my race simply because there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I gave her he weekly scorecard sheet and praised her for a wonderful FBC completion percentage. I had a made a note on there about that and also notated that she also needed to continue working hard on her DPO and add on sales. I then gave Gwen her take a peek from the prior week. Her talk time average was 8:19 and her ACW average was 0:06. When she saw this she stated she was trying. I said yes, but we have to get it down. I then asked her what else I could do to help get her time down. I explained that there were going to be days that she worked that my coaching time did not allow me to meet with her. I explained I had specially asked to coach extra time in order to meet with her. She said she didn t know. I reminded her Cheryl , myself, and Chelsea prior to her departure had all met with her, we had y corded with her, and we ve sent emails to her and there has been no improvement. When it was obvious she wanted to continue to write down as a crutch I presented, Okay, what if you reversed the order you did this and you keyed the item in the system and online first in order to verify the item and at least comment about the item. • 7. What Does Social Justice Mean To You Essay When I was six years old I accepted Christ. I grew up in a Christian home and was given a Christian education. My faith has been a big part of my life. It has gotten me through the good, the bad and the ugly. There have been dry seasons in my faith, but even in those times God has remained faithful. Each day God is teaching me something new about who He is. He is continually growing me to be more like Him. It is my faith that pushes me to fight for justice. One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Psalm 82:2 4, How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. The Gospel is the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Social justice is in no way the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is the one who ultimately brings justice and hope. I am only a helper who is called to obedience. My life is not my own, but it is God s to do with as He pleases. The work I would do at IJM would not be of my own doing, but of Christ in me. He is the ultimate healer and world changer. Since working in this field takes a lot of faith and trust in God, spiritual disciplines are very important. Over the years, this is something that God has been growing me in. He has shown me the importance of truly studying His word and writing it on my heart. When I study His Word, I tend to do it book by book. I will read a certain book multiple times before moving on to the next book. Each time, Jesus seems to point out something new. Prayer is also another area where I have grown. I tend to pray all throughout the day. I like being in constant communication with God. I have learned that prayer is important when combatting human trafficking. There are situations in which prayer seems to be the only option. I believe everything should be done with ... • 8. Alcoholism In The Sun Also Rises The Sun Also Rises is a deceiving novel. Opening with absolutely riveting scenes such as characters drinking in a café, characters drinking in a speakeasy, and characters drinking in hotel rooms, the reader can easily confuse the novel for reality television in print form. But what lies under these scenes are actually calls of help resonating from the characters. The reason for this desperation is that Hemingway and his characters are members of The Lost Generation. Dictionary.com defines this group as men and women who came of age during or immediately following World War I . Due to WWI causing this abrupt upheaval, many people became disillusioned with their previous civilian lives; resulting in unhealthy coping mechanisms such as drinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a few reasons why this is the case. Firstly, the Count is part of a different generation from the rest of the characters. Analysed by Outi Hakola and Sari Kivistö, Mippipopolous is in his seventies due to being twenty one during Britain s 1868 expedition to Abyssinia (25). Due to his age, Mippipopolous has had decades to cope with the tragedies of war compared to the few years The Lost Generation has had. Shown when Mippipopolous says I have been around very much. I have been around a very great deal (Hemingway 52), It is entirely possible the Count faced the same issues in life; the difference being, however, Mippipopolous scars are faded compared to the fresh wounds of the younger generation. Secondly, Mippipopolous has the funds befitting of a count. When offering Brett ten thousand dollars to go to Biarritz (28), Mippipopolous shows that he has little to no financial worries; unlike characters such as Mike Campbell, who sullied away his family inheritance after the war. Following Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs, this forms a foundation of safety that allows the comfort needed to focus on one s self, and not just the day to day issues that others face. Finally, Mippipopolous is one of the few characters that does not show any romantic feelings nor jealousy towards a specific person. Instead, when asked if he s never fallen in love, the Count cryptically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Avoid Vs Incentive Pay Year after year, as executive pay continues its inexorable climb, it s amusing to watch corporate directors try to justify the piles of shareholder money they throw at the hired help (Morgenson 1) . There are many employees that go the extra mile and produce more for their company, but they often never receive anything extra in return. Due to this, they are less motivated to go the extra mile in the future. In contrast, incentive pay is beneficial to an organization s overall production efficiency and effectiveness. Employees get bonuses based on incentive compensation of how productive they work. To begin, the 2011 Incentive Plan is designed to further and promote the interests of the Company, its subsidiaries and its shareholders by enabling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, a convenient starting point for an analysis of pay determination of team sports players is the marginal productivity theory, which is the workhorse of modern labor economics (Bernd Simmons 1) .This connects with the claim because the marginal productivity theory includes that performance ends up determining how much the athlete gets paid. This proves what I learned is true because the theory shows how athletes relates to a worker on how if they work , then incentive compensation is what is rewarded as a salary is for an athlete. Although salary is determined by hardwork, many fans may believe player pay to be arbitrarily determined, statistical studies have shown that player salaries in team sports on both sides of the Atlantic depend on age, experience, and ability (Bernd Simmons 23) . The author s ideas that fans believe that players pay is determined by age, experience, and ability is a useful belief but sheds light on the difficult problem of realizing an athlete must be hardworking to be most of the characteristics that fans believe provide the best compensation. By focusing on how fans believes salaries depend on age, ability, and experience, the author overlooks the deeper problem of players who are very talented and hardworking but old of age for an athlete which might affect their salary; I believe this is unfair because age is just a number. In addition, North American players unions in European soccer have been less effective in bargaining over salaries and employment terms (Bernd Simmons 8) . This connects with the claim because many North American soccer players can t be negotiated as much due to the extra work that was put in by them. This proves what I learned is true because many athletes that put in the extra effort can t be bargained as much due to the reasoning of their ability of playing their sport very well. With our accomplishment in technology we reached beyond our imagination, some things which our ancestors would only dream on having. But while the technology can be used for good deeds some want to take advantage of it and gain personal profits. So, countermeasures were created for defending against them. In a brief background of the case according to Oyez, Congress passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010 to increase the number of Americans covered by health insurance and lower health care costs. ACA requires each state to establish an exchange in which people can purchase health care; and if a state chooses not to do so, the federal government establishes one through the Secretary of Health and Human Services. A poll by the South Korean Anti Corruption and Civil Rights Commission found that 76.8% of middle and high school students considered South Korea to be corrupt due to nepotism (Irwin, 2010). Corruption can never fully be nonexistent, thus it must be taken into consideration when starting a business in a foreign country. Furthermore, environmental pollution raises ethical issues when host nations are more inferior to the home nation (Hill, Richardson, amp; McKaig, 2009). South Korea had significantly evolved in urbanization since the 1960s, and it is evident that their environmental standards have evolved as well. The government launched the Green New Deal in 2009 that committed to establishing environmental projects (Irwin, 2010). This aligns with Canada Goose s corporate standards in environmental ethics. In addition, South Korea had taken on the initiative to create a code of ethics for almost all major businesses. A great challenge would be to match with the standards of Korea s code of ethics for Canada Goose. Lastly, corporate responsibility management is another factor to consider when entering a new market. Most South Korean businesses are adopting corporate responsibility by focusing more on philanthropy and community engagement. This correlates with Dani Reiss corporate responsibility as the leader advocate for Polar Bear International (PBI). Furthermore, the symbolic significance that pertains to the main character also shows how all individuals have both good and bad qualities. A repeating motif in the book is the reference to the play Othello . Skapearses famous play follows the life of the Moor Othello after is marriage to Desdemona. Iago, a loyal friend of Othello, was furious that the Moor overlooked him for a promotion, sparking his lust for revenge. Iago devised a plan to persuade the King that his had been having an affair with his trusted friend Cassio. Iago s actions resulted in the Moor killing Desdemona. After learning the truth, Othello committed suicide. The references to the play foreshadow the ending of the novel but also gives further explanations to the actions of Gibreel. The first mentions of Othello only occurred to criticize Shakespeare because he couldn t spell (256). The primary reference occurs when Gibreel wondered about the creation of evil, why it grows, how it takes unilateral possession of a many sided human soul. Or, let s say: the enigma of Iago (439). Gibreel continues by denying his allegations saying he s, no match for the moor (439). Bandura s early research work focused primarily on observational learning which is simply learning from observing the actions of others. He believed that once someone had witnessed another s behaviour, they may be inclined to adopt this behaviour as their own, ultimately building it into their personality profile. He feels that adults need to deal with the problems in a way to make time for their family and friends. These individuals should not push their problems aside and wait for a later date to deal with the situation and approach the issue with determination to complete the job. Social media activism motivates the individual to help a cause, but there is little sacrifice in creating an impact. The situation may not affect their family and friends so they are not motivated to go further and exceed expectations. Since technology makes adults feel busy, individuals feel overworked and at a sense of hardship because they feel it is not important enough to embrace the assignment at hand. Just as Gopnik stated, de Botton took this applying the behavior of optimistic insight and imposing goal allowing an individual to change their behavior without changing the physical environment. Despite her want of God, Antoinette has no Divine guidance as she remains in the altar less room. Rhys has created this room in Antoinette s dream ergo she has control over Antoinette s religious state. Due to this circumstance, Antoinette will never remember God because Rhys will never allow her to dream of Him. Heaven is exemplified in both books. Evidence from such approaches can be used to understand in depth, the mental processes forming cognition. Consequently, this contributes to our understanding of the mind. Despite vast development in this field, various challenges are posed as no single method can answer every question raised due to its limitations and therefore must be combined in order to produce a more reliable understanding. Cognitive psychology was the first to make progress in the understanding of these areas and accordingly it can be noticed that the tasks used by cognitive neuroscientists for brain imaging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brain imaging techniques used by cognitive neuroscientist s aid research into such field by analysing the different parts of the brain that become active when a certain task is performed. The main technique that can be discussed in the role of trying to understand the mind is Functional magnetic resonance imaging. This technique uses an MRI machine to measure brain activity by looking at changes in one s blood flow. Stern et al, 1996 carried out research into the parts of the brain crucial for encoding and storage of information in the long term memory store. Using fMRI, participants were monitored while performing a novel picture encoding task. Evidence was provided to show that the encoding of these pictures depends on how the ventral cortical regions and the hippocampal region interact. This highlights a link between the two which therefore creates a valid contribution to our understanding of the mind as it identifies the parts of the brain crucial for engaging in essential mental processes. On the other hand, although this link can be identified, the method used by cognitive neuroscientists cannot explain exactly how the hippocampal formation is crucial in the encoding of information in long term memory meaning that it cannot be explained as to why it is needed and what exactly would happen to the encoding process if damage to this formation was to occur. In terms of the technique itself, low temporal resolution and high expense can be noted as another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethics, Morality, And Legality Of Hacking Essay Addison Cryblskey Mr. Bennett Net Admin 7 September 2016 Ethics, Morality, and Legality of Hacking Ethics are defined as moral principles, as of an individual. Giving dropped money back to a blind man is an example of good ethics. I believe in having a strong sense of ethics. Morality or morals can be defined as of, relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong. I believe having a good moral sense is crucial to participate in the world. Without one, you can make a lot of people angry, or you could get fired from a job. Legality or the laws which govern us are rules we are forced to live by. They keep us in line and stop us from doing unjust things. I believe in laws. Without them people who don t have strong morals, or who are unethical, would be able to damage society. The difference between Ethics, Morals, and Laws is slim. Morals make up ethics. Legality takes ethical practices and tells you things you can t do based on what most people think of as right and wrong. Computer hacking can be both ethical and unethical. Ethical hacking is when something is hacked legally and helps better the community.
