Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company
Eli Lilly Co. lost a group of important select patents so they are now looking to compete by producing
new drugs . Due to long research and development times prior to a drug hitting the market, revenue
forecasts for the company are unknown. Lilly s short term forecast is not much clearer as revenue for
the fourth quarter of 2013 declined 2 percent to $5.80 billion largely on Cymbalta s patent expiration,
the company affirmed. Net income dropped 12 percent to $727.5 million, or 67 cents per diluted
share, compared with $827.2 million, or 74 cents per share, for the year earlier quarter (Zhang).
Lilly s unique proficiency is its capability to bring about drug advancement. Lilly has the skill to
identify prospective drug applicants by frequently improving processes with their research and
development. To give an example, in the 1960s Lilly started a line of oral and injectable antibiotics
called cephalosporins. Lilly has many examples such as this in which they are the first company to do
XY or Z. The company is continually investing in new alliances and technologies around the world to
aid in their research and to expand their abilities. The company will be able to achieve further patents
as a result of their new alliances and technology research. Eli Lilly s main focal points are quality,
innovation, and customer care. With a focus on the not yet met medical needs of clients, the response
time in which they deliver important drug therapies hit the market, and top

A Documentary By Admiral Vern Essay
Introduction
In a documentary by Admiral Vern (2002), the events of September 11, 2001 tragically illustrated that
the promise of peace and security in the 21st Century is fraught with profound dangers . The US
foreign policies and interest in key geographic regions of the world sparks controversies resulting in
state funded cyber attacks, cyber espionage and terrorism against the United States and its allied
nations. When several attempts to cripple the United States and its allied nations through negotiations
failed, enemy states and nefarious groups have shifted their focus to cyber attacks and cyber
espionage. According to Gady (2016), China continues cyber espionage against the United States .
Drezner (2014), Washington and Beijing hardly agree on everything, but they agree on the big things,
like maintaining an open global economy, reducing the likelihood of a military confrontation, and
tackling climate change .
Following the US and Israeli Stuxnet attack on Iran s Nuclear program in 2010, enemy states have
been targeting some critical infrastructures and federal government agencies. As the US interest in
securing its borders against all threats both domestic and abroad continue to grow, several new threats
and vulnerabilities colossus in its cyberspace. In a recent report by Bhattacharyya (2016), Russian
hackers attacked the State Department email system and the Office of Personnel Management reported
that 5.6 million Americans fingerprints were stolen as

Participant observation
How do we really find out about the way of life of a group of people? One way is to join them to
participate in their daily activities amp; observe what they say and do. This research method is known
as participant observation. It was used by John Howard Griffin (1960) a white journalist who dyed his
skin black in order to discover what it was like to live as black man in the southern states of America
in the late 1950 s. It was used by the anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski who spent many years
studying the Trobriand Islanders of New Guinea. He observed the most intimate details of ... Show

This happened in Judith Okely s (1983) study of traveller gypsies. Entry was a long and difficult
process until she gained the friendship and trust of a family who had recently suffered a tragic death.
The sympathetic and understanding relationship she developed with members of this family provided
entry to rest of the group.
Conducting research
Looking and listening Participant observation involves looking and listening. The general rule is to go
with the flow rather than forcing the pace and influencing peoples behaviour. Since the aim is to
observe people in their normal setting, the research must not disturb that setting. Blending into the
background is usually recommended, though this is not always possible. For example, a participant
observer in a classroom can stand out like a sore thumb. This can result in an artificial lesson.
However, its surprising how soon he or she becomes invisible and taken for granted. In his study of a
secondary school, Walford (1933) found that it took four weeks of observation before any class
misbehaved. However, the situation changed rapidly after this time and Walford was soon watching
mock wrestling and chairs flying around the classroom!
Asking Questions Watching and listening are not always adequate for the researcher s purposes.
Sometimes a participant observer must take a more active role in order to obtain information. This
usually involves asking questions. In such cases, the diving line

Nirvana And The Four Noble Truths
The two ways for people to reach Nirvana was to followed the Eight fold path and the Four noble
truths.
The Eight fold path described the way to end samsara as it was taught by Siddharta Gautama the
Buddha. It was a practical guideline to ethnical and mental development with the goal to free one from
the cycle of samsara and lead one to understand the truth about all things. Together with the Four
Noble Truths, it lead to the gist of Buddhism. Great force was put on practical aspect because it was
the only through practise that one can attain higher level of existence and finnaly then reach Nirvana.
The various eight path were not to be understood only by a single step but they must be understood
that they were connected to each other.

Right View was the aspect of wisdom. It meant to see things through, to grasp the not permanent and
the non perfect objects or ideas and to understand the law of karma and karmic conditioning. Right
View was began with the power of realising and understanding insight that all beings were subject to
suffering and it ended with complete understanding of true nature of all things. Right view yields right
thoughts and right actions.
2. Right Intention
Right intention could be described best as commintment to ethnical and mental self improvements.
Buddha marked differently the three types of Right intentions as 1. The intention of resiting to pull
aside the desire. 2. The intention of good will meaning to fight the feelings of anger and aversion and
3. The intention of harmlessness meaning not to think cruelly, violently or aggressively and must

Youth Affecting Nazi Germany
How did the youth Affect Nazi Germany?
In Nazi Germany the youth played a very important role in the years leading up to World War II as
well as fighting in the war. Hitler controlled and shaped the youth many ways including The Hitler
Youth Program(HJ) for boys or the League of German Maidens(BDM) for girls. In just the HJ, there
were 8.8 million youth at the start of the war. That is more than enough people to cause a problem.
They could do the most good and cause the most destruction if not controlled and Hitler knew that. He
indoctrinated the youth by surrounding them with Nazi propaganda and by rewriting German history.
Some other things that influenced Germany were the youth resistances such as the Swing Kids and the
Edelweiss Group.
One way hitler planned to control the youth was by starting his Hitler Youth (HJ) program in July
1926. In the HJ boys ages 10 18 had military training such as marching, bayonet drill, grenade
throwing, trench digging, map reading, gas defence, use of dugouts, how to get under barbed wire and
pistol shooting as well as Nazi ideological indoctrination courses. These were to prepare them for war.
Their uniforms even had badges and other decorative insignia to make it easier to transition into the
army. For some reason they didn t suspect something of it. In 1938 meeting attendance dipped ...

Pros And Cons Of Robert F. Kennedy s Speech On GDP
Review: Robert F. Kennedy s speech on GDP and the pros and cons
Robert F Keneddy speech on GDP highlighted the unique aspects associated with the understanding of
GDP. The speech talked about the meaning and importance of GDP and the misinterpretations that are
often attached with the concept. He was of the view that accumulation of material things has remained
a main focus of economic agents and doing so community values and community excellence are often
compromised. In his speech he presented an important concept that GDP cannot be used as a measure
of welfare of wellbeing of the economy because it does not take into account the health of individuals,
their standard of living, quality of education provided to the individuals etc. In this way it is not a
good option to rely on GDP while having an idea about the development of an economy.
There are various other important aspects associated with the economy in general and community in
particular that determine wellbeing of the economic agents and these aspects are totally ignored by the
concept of GDP. GDP is unable to take into account the strengths of marriages, the intelligence of the
public, and the integrity of the public institutions. These moral aspects of the community play
significant role in its economic development too. Wisdom, courage, learning, compassion, and
devotion all such factors make our lives worthwhile and therefore it is not a wise option to ignore
these factors while talking about the economic

Human Cardiovascular System
When a person is 80 years old, the average healthy heart will have beat 3,363,840,000 times ( 10
unique and fun facts about the cardiovascular system, 2015). The cardiovascular system includes the
heart and blood vessels that s main job is to carry blood from the body to the heart and vice versa. The
human heart is amazingly the base core of functionality for the human body, without it the human
body would never function. There are three stages in the process of pumping blood throughout the
body.
The first stage of pumping blood throughout the body, is by pumping blood through the four main
chambers of the heart, which are The right and left atrium, and the right and left Ventricle . The great
vessels in the heart include the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava, which brings blood from the body to
the right Atrium, then the Pulmonary artery transports blood from the right ventricle to the lungs,
therefore, the Aorta the body s largest artery transports oxygen rich blood in one ... Show more content

The blood travels to the lungs where it receives oxygen. Next the bloods drains back into the left
atrium from the lungs via the pulmonary veins and travels to the left atrium. The left atrium then
contracts, therefore forcing blood through the mitral valve into the left ventricle. As it is explained in
human anatomy, and more specifically about the human heart, the left ventricle is the major muscular
pump that sends the blood out to the body s system. As a result, when the left vertical contracts, in
forces highly pumped blood though the aortic semilunar valve into the aorta. From here the aorta and
its branches carry blood to the rest of the body s tissue.
In conclusion, the human heart works in a very complex way, and as human anatomy develops over
the years to have a better understanding of how the human heart works, it is very important that people
have a better understanding of how it

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Living Abroad
It is without doubt that for some people, going to a foreign country can be quite the shock. Before I
experienced living abroad, I was adamant that I too would experience a culture shock. What happened
was totally the opposite.
I spend my last year of my bachelor studies living in Belgium, Ghent. I received a scholarship, so I did
not have to work to support myself. Instedad I focused on my studies and of course on the adventure.
You see, culture shock is not something you catch, like the flu or the common cold; it s not something
you get when you set foot on the airport, it s a feeling and it is not always there. If I was in a more
exotic place than Europe, I believe I would have had a minor culture shock, but having to write about
a culture shock I experienced during my stay in a European country is simply impossible.

Theories And Ideas In Bowenian Therapy
As a Christian studying the nature of people, thoughts, and behaviors, it is inevitable for personal faith
to strongly intertwine with the principles, theories, and ideas psychology presents. An important piece
for understanding individuals is found in examining their family dynamics, coping skills, and family
patterns. Bowenian therapy embodies how humans predictably function in relationships. Similar to the
Bible and its instructions, which advises people how to conduct one s self in fellowship and kinship
with others. However, the Bible does not entirely explain how people are emotionally affected by the
fallen human relationship (Brown, n.d.). The Bible provides evidence of the ultimate cause of
disharmony and Bowen s theory provides a thorough explanation of emotional and relationship ...

This could be possible from transgenerational issues, or imposition from a family s projection process.
The Bible tells us that the sins of a grandfather will affect his children, and their children, if ties and
curses are not broken (Exodus 20:5, NIV). Numbers 14:18 gives a clear account of Bowen s
assumptions when it says, The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving
iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers
on the children, to the third and the fourth generation (Numbers 14:18, ESV). However, since Christ
redeemed the sins of man by dying for our sins, The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father,
nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon
himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself (Ezekiel 18:20, ESV). God basically

Essay about Different Perspectives of Cuban Revolution
Different Perspectives of Cuban Revolution
Introduction:
The measures taken by Castro and explicitly stated by him at his trial in 1954, from the very beginning
of his anti Batista movement illustrate his initial desires to reform Cuba and ultimately increase its
standard of living. Different understandings can be perceived by reading various books and documents
that focus on the political changes shaping Cuba s modern day society. Each illustrates different
aspects of the insurrection while simultaneously giving the reader an accurate depiction of the
historical occurrences. Authors Perez Stable and Patterson focus on the turbulent circumstances that

Because of Cuba s reliance on the export of sugar, Cubans were severely limited in terms of
diversifying its economy and raising its standard of living. According to Perez Stable,
Without diversification, jobs would not be createdand living standards raised...Moving Cuba from
classic dependence on sugar to a new form of dependent capitalism, however, required a realignment
of domestic actors, a new role for the state, and a restructuring of Cuba U.S. relations.
These issues appear as reoccurring themes that build the platforms for many of the reforms sought by
Castro himself. This is because these issues address the focal points of concern for most Cuban
citizens.
The second chapter in Perez Stable s book deals more with the political transitions that shaped Cuba s
societal structure during the turbulent early 1900 s. Corruption and problems with the governmental
structure coincided with the economic crises. Many Cubans fostered anti American sentiments and
regarded the Platt Amendment with much contempt. These feelings arose in part because, Application
of the Platt Amendment was a blatant reminder of the limits of Cuban independence. During these
occurrences, the U.S. vacillated between mediating the Cuban crises and relinquishing ties to the
Cuban government. This stemmed in part from the avid anti American sentiments

The Shema Research Paper
The Shema
The Shema is a Jewish prayer that serves as a daily declaration of faith. Jews recite the Shema twice
each day, in the morning and in the evening, as well as on holidays and during Shabbat, the Jewish
Sabbath. The Shema consists of three excerpts from the Torah, and Jews follow certain rules when
reciting it. It begins with a six word phrase Shema Yisrael, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad which
translates as Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God; the Lord is One. The phrase Shema Yisrael is one of
the most well known Jewish sayings in the world.
An Overview of the Shema
Faithful Jews have been reciting the Shema since ancient times. The Shema consists of three biblical
excerpts: Deuteronomy 6:4 9, Deuteronomy 11:13 21, and Numbers ... Show more content on

Children who are capable of saying the Shema generally are expected to learn not only to recite it
accurately but also to recite it at the appropriate time of day.
Customs
Jews may sit or stand when reciting the Shema, depending on the congregation to which they belong.
Before commencing their recital of the Shema, Jews should take time to think about its meaning.
Jewish law requires more focused concentration on the first verse of the Shema than on other verses of
the prayer. As a result, it is common for people to close their eyes or cover them with their right hand
to block out distractions as they speak this verse. They usually speak the first verse aloud; again, this
is to sharpen concentration and focus on the meaning of the declaration of faith. The other verses may
be spoken in quieter tones. When people recite the Shema, they should take care to avoid speaking too
quickly and slurring words together; each word should be articulated clearly and deliberately. Many
recite the Shema in Hebrew, but those who cannot speak Hebrew may recite the Shema in their native

Lewis Personality In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Lewis personality is personified in The Chronicles of Narnia, and specifically in The Voyage of the
Dawn Treader through the children. The children Lucy, Edmund, Caspian, and Eustace are searching
for the seven missing lords exiled by King Caspian s odorous Uncle Miraz. Additionally, they are
searching for the far east or Aslan s country. But more pointedly Edmund and Lucy are continually
searching for Aslan. In the novels, Aslan is a huge lion that appears from time to time offering

Lewis was struggling with leading a life that was devoted to Christ and he presented this struggle and
eventual surrender to the Lord through his work. Lewis had to learn that God would also be with him
and pursue even when he was sinning and running from the Lord. This continual chase and presence is
mirrored through Aslan. Aslan is always with the children throughout the entirety of the novel, They
see Aslan at a distance moving across the horizon or a living image of him on the page of a book; he
answers Lucy s prayer by providing help to escape from the terrors of the Dark Island; and he talks to
Caspian, Lucy, and Edmund. He empowers, encourages, restrains, and guards the children, filling
more of a spiritual than a physical role (Schakel, Hidden Images of Christ in the Fiction of C.S.

Good vs. Evil in John Cheever s The Five-Forty-Eight Essay
Good vs. Evil in John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight
John Cheever was an award winning American author of the twentieth century. His work often
possessed psychological and religious vision with central themes of sin, deception, and redemption
(Kennedy, 551). Cheever s short story entitled The Five Forty Eight portrays a struggle of good vs.
evil. Following the themes of sin, deception, and redemption, we read of a young woman (good)
seeking revenge for the evil done to her. Through the course of the story the reader can distinguish
between the traits of good and evil.
The Webster s dictionary defines evil as that which is morally wrong. Blake has some distinct morality
issues. Blake, the evil force in the story, possesses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His relationships are not the only area of his life that we see Blake?s evil nature rise. There are subtle
hints of his self obsession throughout Cheever?s story. Early on in the story, Blake is admiring himself
in a plate glass window and sees himself with ?a clear reflection? and the crowds ?like shadows at his
back? (551). He then sees Mrs. Dent as a ?contorted being? (551) in the same window. Blake sees
himself as a flawless creature of complete perfection with the mass of city pedestrians as a blur behind
his faultlessness, and he can easily pick out the imperfections in other individuals. He sees himself as
the ultimate perfection, instead of seeing the negative impact he has on his friends and family. His
negative interactions with friends and family are the evil force that breaks his relationships. There is
no mention of any moral actions performed by him.
We find yet another example of Blake?s immoral actions through his self conceit. He fails to comfort a
crying Mrs. Dent, ?he felt too contented and warm and sleepy to worry about her tears? (553). Blake
has no compassion for others; he only worries about his own affairs. This is indicative that Blake is
morally wrong.
Blake so genuinely sees himself as perfect that it is virtually impossible for him to accept any minor
mistakes he makes. When he first comes across Mrs. Dent after their affair, he is surprised to find that
he cannot

Benefits And Limitations Of A New Information System And...
The technology feasibility study has an argument that XYZ hospital s current technology is outdated
and doesn t meet current healthcare standards. The hospital s network bandwidth is capped because of
the antiquated equipment and problematic wiring. Advantages and disadvantages of the current
network are that the current system will work with outdated technology. A disadvantage is if the
hospital is unable to acquire newer technologies which can have an effect on effectiveness and
efficiencies when the hardware and capabilities are not able to keep up. Security is always of an issue.
An argument can be made that a secured network will have enough security controls to mitigate or

An argument can be made that costs of newer technology will decrease significantly over time and
will allow XYZ hospital to take advantage of these technologies at lower prices.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The problem is that XYZ hospital has identified the need for telemedicine and electronic health record
management capabilities but hasn t been able to convey the costs and risks associated with
implementing an information system and network infrastructure upgrade. This is a problem because
the current and projected budget will possibly limit funding for equipment and development of a new
system.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The purpose of this feasibility study was to examine the risks associated with the network and
information system and compared it to upgrading the current infrastructure. The information produced
from this research helped XYZ hospital convey the strengths, weaknesses, and impacts on choosing a
new networking and information system infrastructure. This is important because it will give the
hospital the information it needs to help prioritize projects that will allow the the hospital to continue
to have a competitive edge in providing quality patient care and treatment through the use of
technology.

Turing Red Flag By Toby Walsh
Toby Walsh addresses a number of concerns that many will overlook when it comes to technological
advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). I am sure there will be many who will be too
fascinated by an AI inhibiting human behavior to worry about the consequences. As some may argue,
we re just not at that point yet for many to care. However, as we get closer I do believe that the Turing
Red Flag would benefit society as whole but not for all the reasons Walsh discusses. First, I agree that
self driven vehicles should clearly be identifiable to human drivers. It could serve for a number of
purposes, similar to how student drivers are identifiable on the road. For instance, seeing a student
driver may influence other drivers to be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It makes sense considering how we currently do not have anything in place to safeguard us from
issues that may arise in the future. I feel like it s a step in the right direction but it depends on how
deep the law wants to go in regulating the use of AI. The basic concept of the law seems fine, though.
For example, going back to autonomous cars and how they should be identifiable to human drivers, it
should be something subtle like what Walsh said, a distinct license plate. It definitely should not have
a flashing green light placed on top of the vehicle. Imagine a world of self driving cars all with
flashing green lights. It s not only intrusive but it s also very distracting. If we had AI blatantly
impersonating a celebrity, such as commentating the World Cup as Messi, we wouldn t it periodically
inform us that he s a bot because as mentioned earlier, it would take away from the experience. It
might create a new social norm where humans will themselves pretend to be AI and who knows what
issues (if any) that will bring. In addition to requiring AI to properly introduce themselves, it should
also indicate that it s collecting data. Thus, the basic concepts of the Turing Red Flag law should be
sustainable while carrying numerous benefits and minimal

The Underground Man By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
In Notes from the Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the underground man is a man who is living
out [his] life in a [his] corner (2) and is paralyzed by consciousness. The underground man proposes
the example of revenge as a way to examine the differences between himself and the man of action;
the man of action being a man who can act as opposed to the paralysis of the underground man. The
man of action can act, but his position is inconsistent. The underground man thinks he will be
miserable regardless of acting or not acting; his belief in determinism causes this and he reasons
incorrectly that determinism is true. The man of action and the underground man are determinists who
believe all they do is predetermined. They do not believe that they have the ability to commit an action
free of any predetermination or influence. All acts that happen are not by the choice of men; instead,
the laws of nature are the source of the action. The underground man states the laws of nature, the
deductions of natural science, mathematics (8) form a stone wall which cannot be broken. The laws of
nature do not require the consent of himself, the underground man thinks, it is a case of twice two
makes four! (8). To the underground man the man of action is happy and stupid, whereas the
underground man is unhappy and intelligent. The underground man then presents what act necessitates
revenge: the act of being slapped in the face. The case of the man of action is then presented. The

Use of Excessive Force by Police
Use of Excessive Force by Police
Use of Excessive Force by Police Police officers are given a significant amount of discretion simply
due to the nature of the job. Officers are faced with many threatening situations forcing them to react
quickly, yet appropriately. They have the power to infringe upon any citizen s rights to freedom and
therefore they must use this power effectively. One major concern with the amount of discretion
officers have is their power to decide when to use force or when to use lethal force. Manning (1997)
argues that it is generally accepted that police should be allowed to use force. He also explains that
there are an uncertain amount people who agree on as to what constitutes excessive force. The line ...

Guidelines need to be set so that officers continue to incorporate and maintain the concept of
community policing. Therefore, there must be information available to inform reader that police
discretion not only encompasses use of police profiling, responses to domestic violence, or choices in
acceptance of gratuities but discretionary decision to use force. When debating the issue of police use
of force, the issue of what actions constitute too much force must also be addressed. Another concern
is the possibility of corruption amount officers. When given such great power, the probability of
corruption is high. Officers generally do not start out as corrupt, but years of work on the force can
create animosity between officers and suspects and lead them to decide to use force more quickly
(McEwen, 1996). Many times, officers patrol the streets alone which creates the opportunity for
potential abuse of power (McEwen, 1996). Although police officers need to be permitted to exercise
some discretion, they also need limits and guidelines to follow when using their powers of discretion
(Manning, 1997). The decision to use force should not be taken lightly in that citizen s lives are at
stake. Police should be allowed discretion in decisions to use force; however, this discretion should be
limited. In several cases in Arizona, officers have used deadly means of force. In all cases, the officers

Classic Interactions Between Patients And Doctors
Classic interactions between patients and doctors rely heavily on medical competence. The doctor, the
supposed superior in the arrangement, acts as a symbol for scientific proficiency while the patient
exists as a sponge. While extensive knowledge is nonnegotiable in the field, empathy is a key
component in ensuring proper diagnoses and sustaining healthy, impartial interactions. Margaret
Edson s play W;t employs dialogue and discontinuous juxtaposition in order to draw attention to the
inevitable disconnect between patients and providers, which endangers successful medical
engagement and outcomes. Proper communication is critical in fostering interpersonal connections.
This is particularly essential in medicine, as patients and providers often communicate with strictly
bureaucratic terms. Dr. Kelekian and Vivian address each other with not only impersonal terms, but
truly contradictory titles: Doctor and Miss respectively (7). The professionalism in doctor and the
informality in Miss juxtaposes the two characters affluence, suggesting that the patient is subservient
to the dominant medical professional. This power dynamic sets the stage for disproportionate,
inequitable dialogue. Consequentially, this very dynamic indicates a hierarchical structure that reduces
Kelekian s empathy as he does not address Vivian with her proper title, Professor . Rather, she is
reduced to a generalized Miss , clumping her and all other patients with that title into the same

Bullying Rhymes
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me . This is one of the English
language children s rhymes. It encourages children to ignore verbal insults, persuading them to stay
calm and to not retaliate. The literal translation of this seems to be: You can say what you want, you
can insult me verbally as much as you want. Words does not matter to me. I will go over it and I will
forget. I will stay calm to show how strong I am . This is not as simple as it appears to be.
These few simple words became so significant that I decided to use them as an introduction to the
problem that this essay will be talking about, namely bullying. According to the definition, bullying is
the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. There are
four different types of bullying including physical, verbal, emotional and cyber bullying. This essay
will mainly focus on the verbal bullying that, despite the implication of the rhyme mentioned at the
beginning of the introduction, causes a significant impact on individuals sanity and plays the huge role
in shaping individuals personalities. Additionally, there is a big connection between children who are
bullied and their suicidal thoughts. This is one of the most significant problems that exists among
teenagers in American schools. In order to have a better understanding of the poem it is worthed to

Prenatal And Postnatal Health Care
With complaints of inadequate maternity health care services in newspapers and social media on the
rise, the issue of Ireland s poor services for women before and after birth has become an important
topic. Some health care officials believe there are already safe and effective services and staffing
levels implemented in prenatal and postnatal health care. Even government officials feel that there is
an abundant amount of government assistance services available for prenatal and postnatal women.
These views are predominately based on the data that Ireland has one of the lowest maternal and
perinatal mortality rates in the world (Larkin et al. 98). In a newspaper article by Sinéad Redmond,
she points out that in March of 2014, figures revealed that not a single maternity hospital in the
Republic of Ireland had staffing levels of midwife to women ratios that [met] international safety
standards ( Ireland s Maternity Units ). In a study conducted by Larkin, Begley, and Davane, it was
also found that women often felt alone and unsupported, and Some women would not have another
baby due to their childbirth experiences (98). Women who wish to be pregnant in Ireland are unhappy
with their prenatal and postnatal experiences on the account of inadequate health care services,
including job and government assistance. I will argue that the government and health care system in
the Republic of Ireland should work together to solve these problems. The lack of attentiveness to

Cultural differences between MTV and Arabs
MTV is coming from the western world and it is well known for airing explicit sexually, open and
provocative programs. MTV is very open and it carries an image of western pop culture along with it.
As far as everyone may have noticed, Arab people are one of the most conservative people in the
world today. Some Arab females are wearing clothed mask to conceal themselves, they are not
suppose to show any part of their body to strangers. Family is highly value for the Arab, the head of
the family has ultimate authorization in everything that is going on in the family. MTV value
individualism and encourage people to speak and stand up for themselves. This image went contrary
to the socially conservative culture of the Middle East, and it could be a key bottleneck to the channel

The Controversy Of Kurt Cobain s Death
For over 20 years we have been told by media, investigators, and even those closest to Kurt Cobain
himself that his death was a suicide, but as more details are revealed and more people come forward,
there is one question that hangs in the air: Was Kurt Cobain murdered? On April 8, 1994, Nirvana
frontman, Kurt Cobain was found dead in the greenhouse of his home in Seattle, Washington.
According to the coroner that examined Cobain, he had been dead about three days before he was
found (Grove). Only just four days before his death, he escaped from Exodus Recovery Center, where
he was staying to get help for his drug addiction. The same day that he escaped was the last day that
he ever spoke to his wife, Courtney Love. Although it is widely believed that Kurt Cobain killed
himself, with all the facts and evidence provided, it is apparent and obvious that Courtney Love killed
Kurt Cobain. To begin, Kurt and Courtney s marriage was failing. This was something that everyone
around them could see. Kurt had been planning to divorce Courtney and then move out of the country.
This exasperated Courtney, causing her to want to get back at Kurt for wanting to leave her and their
two year old daughter. This getting back at him would be achieved by killing him and acquiring all of
his riches, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

heroin hit his system, he would have either immediately gone unconscious or even died. Also, there
were no fingerprints on the shotgun he used to kill himself. How could that be possible if he shot
himself with it? Someone was obviously trying to cover their

Difference Between Modern And Mendeleev Periodic Table
Over so many years the periodic table has changed in many years. In the modern periodic table the
elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table they were
in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and mendeleev
periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian
chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements
known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table
much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven
horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or
families. The Matrix. Mendeleev s periodic table presented a new paradigm, with all of the elements
positioned within a logical matrix..
Mendeleev had written the properties of elements on pieces of card and tradition has it that after
organising the cards while playing patience he suddenly realised that by arranging the element cards in

Sometimes this method of arranging elements meant there were gaps in his horizontal rows or periods
. But instead of seeing this as a problem, Mendeleev thought it simply meant that the elements which
belonged in the gaps had not yet been discovered. He was also able to work out the atomic mass of the
missing elements, and so predict their properties. And when they were discovered, Mendeleev turned
out to be right. For example, he predicted the properties of an undiscovered element that should fit
below aluminium in his table. When this element, called gallium, was discovered in 1875, its
properties were found to be close to Mendeleev s predictions. Two other predicted elements were later
discovered, lending further credit to Mendeleev s

Animal Farm By George Orwell Essay
Animal Farm is of course, a satirical allegory, very specifically of the Russian Revolution and of
Stalin (Napoleon in the book), but more generally of revolution, the idealism of utopias, and the way
in which people take control of societies founded on principles of equality. It is a satirical allegory of
Soviet totalitarianism. Orwell based major events in the book on ones from the Soviet Union during
the Stalin era. Orwell, a democratic socialist, and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many
years, was a critic of Stalin, and was suspicious of Moscow directed Stalinism after his experiences in
the Spanish Civil War. In Animal Farm George Orwell demonstrates the psychological foundation of
revolution, its processes and the irony of displacement of an oppressive regime by the new
revolutionary order. The revolution is hardly complete before differences appear and so idealistic
intentions are progressively undermined by the assumption of total authority by the pigs. The pigs did
not actually work but directed and supervised the others.
Orwell intended Animal Farm to be a strong condemnation of what he saw as the Stalinist corruption
of the original socialist ideals. He, in the two books, is obsessed with the idea of revolution directly or
indirectly. He described what gave him the idea of setting the book on a farm:
I saw a little boy, perhaps ten years old, driving a huge carthorse along a narrow path, whipping it
whenever it tried to turn. It struck me that if

Relationship Between Wealth And Happiness
Does wealth equal happiness?
According to the novel Great Expectation by Charles Dickens, the correlation between wealth and
happiness is debatable, depending on the person and their lifestyle. For example, Herbet viewed

he took advantage of it which caused him to experience debt. In Chapter 39 the author states, He was a

Unjust And Uninhibited Control In The Daily Prophet
Unjust and uninhibited control is an innate trait of bureaucratism, as a byproduct of an institution s
quest for efficiency. In perpetuation of their lack of limits, bureaucrats create survival networks across
spheres, and thus are more difficult to bring down. In regards to the Potter series, the Ministry creates
a network with The Daily Prophet. Bureaucracy knows no limits, and may take unjust actions. The
Daily Prophet publishing deceiving articles is unethical by general contemporary standards; however,
by bureaucratic definition the institution is self justifying, and defines themselves as the most rational
organization. The Ministry believes that they have proper justification in using the newspaper to their
advantage, and the newspaper plays along. In doing so, they expand past the boundaries between
public and private affairs by exploiting Harry. The Daily Prophet is the Ministry s pawn in their
obsession with order, which in itself is disordering according to bureaucratic politics. The Daily
Prophet s corrupt articles only create more disorder even though they have the goal of preventing
panic. Any time that there is a group of elites and a public, there are sure to be elements populist
politics found. This is especially true when the group of elites exercise their power to deceive the
mass. In this situation the villain in populist terms is The Daily Prophet, along with the Ministry of

The purpose of the United States public policy law is to implement restrictions in an effort to solve
problems, which can be seen with the Clean Water Act.
Public policy has also been employed to reform the Endangered Species Act of

through these acts, the internal structure of public policy often retards these acts effectiveness. This
paper will explore the many ways in which factors such as horizontal implementation, divided
government, and other forms of public policy affect the environmental legislation involved with the
aforementioned acts. The main factors involved with the Endangered

And, of course, workset like incentives such as taxes, fees, allowances, refunds, and liability are used
to enforce the laws effectively.
Horizontal implementation refers specifically to implementation with the federal government, as
opposed to vertical implementation which is at the state and local levels. There are several specific
concerns with horizontal implementation which include the breakdown of coordination due to the
large structure of the federal government, language difficulties, lack of control due to the threat of
success by one particular agency, different perspectives, and direct change of intention due to factors
such as voter pressure. It s amazing that in the midst of all this that anything can be accomplished at
all, but thanks to the drive to be re elected, things have to get done on the federal level or else the
person in question will be renounced from power.
So now that a foundation of the processes controlling these acts has been established, the question
arises, what exactly is the Endangered Species Act?
As one author puts it, quot; The Endangered Species Act of 1973, perhaps more than any other
environmental law, dares to draw an unwavering line in the path of
American progress. It boldly says in essence, Thou shalt not cause any species of plant or animal to go
extinct. As the rampart transformation of natural America for exurban development, water division
projects, and timber cutting pushes

The Rizk Casino Game Selection Up
Blog 28 Is the Rizk Casino game selection up to muster?
There is no place for second rate within today s all action online casino landscape. This is because the
online casino players of the world often discard providers that don t tick all the boxes out of hand. As
quick as an online casino launches, it can fall off the radar just as quickly, with some once popular
names following that path. Looking at an online casino that certainly isn t set to suffer from that issue,
Rizk Casino seems to have been through a careful and thorough development process. Built from the
ground up with player satisfaction in mind, there is plenty to like about this Guts spin off.
What is working wonders when it comes to putting Rizk Casino on the map is its game selection. Built
into to a smooth and fresh looking UI, it looks like the Rizk Casino game catalogue has all the tools to
take this online casino to the very top of the industry.
Building Blocks
Piece by piece, Rizk Casino has worked to build an online casino game selection that players can be
proud of. While many other online casinos seem content with working with one or two developers,
Rizk Casino has gone all in, securing deals with no less than 8 major industry names. NetEnt,
Microgaming, Betsoft, Thunderkick, NYX, Nextgen, Quickspin, and Play n GO all add to the Rizk
Casino experience through a raft of major releases. Game after game, players can be sure that no 2
days are ever the same at Rizk Casino.

Research Paper On Solon
Solon
Solon was a philosopher and poet. There were not very many things about Solon. However, he
sounded like a curious person to write on. In doing this research, Solon had a very interesting life
during his eighty years and helped change the Athenian government in many ways. Solon was born
638B.C. in Athens, Greece. He died in 558 B.C. in Cyprus. He was mostly known as an Athenian
statesman, a law reformer, and a really talented poet. He became somewhat of a mythical founding
father figure that had set Athens on their path of glory during the Classical period. 1 He helped lay the
groundwork for the Athenian democracy, helping lower class citizens rise up in political areas. Most
of his poems that he was credited for are just fragments now, but, they were very thought provoking
poems. Solon and his family belonged to a noble clan. There is not much information available about
Solon s family. What is known is that his family was a very small one. They came from moderate
wealth, although their lineage could possibly be traced back to the last King of Athens. His father s
name was Execestides. Not much is known about his mother. Solon only had one brother, no other
siblings. His brother s name was Dropides, who was an ancestor (six generations removed) of Plato2.

He was the first citizen of Athens to reference the goddess Athena.9 Solon s verses are mainly
significant for his personal records of his reforms and attitudes.10 Only fragments remain of his
poetry and writing, but they total about 280 verses. He had some really good poetry. Most of his
poems were written with a strong sense of fairness. It is possible that Solon backed up this poetic
bravado with true valor on the battlefield.11 When Solon was fighting in wars with his army, he had
written many poems. Some of these poems were used to encourage his troops to fight well. For Solon,
it gave him strength to fight, and courage that they could win the war with

The Masque Of The Red Death Creative Writing
The Masque of the Red Death
I raised out of bed at the crack of dawn, when I heard the mailman s carriage ride by. I was expecting
something very important. I put on my shoes faster than a rabbit, and went to retrieve the mail. As I
was looking through the mail one envelope caught my eyes. The envelope read You re Invited! As I
opened the envelope and read it, it was from Prince Prospero and he invited me to safety from the
plague. He heard I was a psychic and he wanted me to help with others who was invited into shelter,
to predict if anything was going to happen.
The next day, I was preparing for living in the castle (the safe spot from the plague) for months or
even for years. I had to pack clothes, food, work material etc. As I was ... Show more content on

I been trying to warn everyone that something terrible is going to happen. No one believed at all, only
me, Anne, and 3 youth girls. We hoped everyone would believe but they didn t. Tonight was the night
we are having a party to celebrate the 7 months we had been living in safety. Everyone was to wear a
mask, my mask is a crystal ball, psychics used them to help predict things. We were all enjoying
ourselves, then suddenly we seen someone suspicious, we had never seen this person before within the
whole 7 months. He had on a scandalous costume. The masquerader(the unknown guest) starts
looking for the Prince. As the Prince was about to take down the anonymous person, the masquerader
is headed towards the black room, Prospero starts to run after him after he loses him. As the Prince got
to the edge of the black room, the guest whirls around to face him, and Prospero falls to the ground
dead. The crowd threw itself at the guest, only to discover nothing underneath the mask and costume.
The Red Death has came to the party. One by one the guests dies, blood all over all the Prince s
rooms. Lights, candles, everything went out leaving only darkness, The Red Death, me, Anne, and the
3 girls. Earlier I discovered a hole in the purple room, we escaped safely without the Red Death

Negatives Of Sweatshops
I remember hearing about sweatshops in middle school and just thinking how wrong and useless they
are. After reading the articles I believe that my impression of sweatshops that has stuck with me has
changed. Even though I may find sweatshops to be cruel and useless it is not for others. I agree that
they are dirty and dangerous (Kristof WuDunn, 2000) and most Westerners are opposed to
sweatshops, but for people in less developed countries, such as Asia they like them and want to work
in them. I feel that sweatshops have many bad side effects, such as poor working conditions, pollution,
and child labor, but I can see how they are starting to improve for workers and the rest of us. I still feel
like they can be dangerous regardless, but they are helping so many people stay alive, have jobs, and
make money. I never thought of it from that perspective and really realized just how much these jobs
mean to some people. For example, the 40 year old woman in Cambodia who would do anything to
work in these sweatshops just to earn enough money to buy a $5 net to save her family from getting
malaria from the area they had to move in order to sell wood to have money for food. The disease had
already killed some of her family and will continue to do so if she does not make the money she needs
to afford one of those tents. To be honest I cannot even imagine being put into one of these situations.
It is so scary and mind blowing. Working in a sweatshop would be lifesaving to her and be

Career Caution Summary
My niece Jenny is a very bright high school student who wants to plan for her future. She is strongly
considering becoming a doctor, but is concerned that she may not be making the best decision in the
long run. She contacted me asking for my advice on the matter since her skepticism comes from
concerns with that career in the economy and the best location to practice. I have recently read an
article titled, Fewer Physicians Move, a Sign of Career Caution. This article raises some red flags and
justifies some of Jenny s concerns with becoming a doctor. I will do some research on the demand
determinants, price elasticity of demand, supply determinants, max/cost of production, and price
elasticity of supply. This information should help me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company Eli Lilly Co. lost a group of important select patents so they are now looking to compete by producing new drugs . Due to long research and development times prior to a drug hitting the market, revenue forecasts for the company are unknown. Lilly s short term forecast is not much clearer as revenue for the fourth quarter of 2013 declined 2 percent to $5.80 billion largely on Cymbalta s patent expiration, the company affirmed. Net income dropped 12 percent to $727.5 million, or 67 cents per diluted share, compared with $827.2 million, or 74 cents per share, for the year earlier quarter (Zhang). Lilly s unique proficiency is its capability to bring about drug advancement. Lilly has the skill to identify prospective drug applicants by frequently improving processes with their research and development. To give an example, in the 1960s Lilly started a line of oral and injectable antibiotics called cephalosporins. Lilly has many examples such as this in which they are the first company to do XY or Z. The company is continually investing in new alliances and technologies around the world to aid in their research and to expand their abilities. The company will be able to achieve further patents as a result of their new alliances and technology research. Eli Lilly s main focal points are quality, innovation, and customer care. • 3. A Documentary By Admiral Vern Essay Introduction In a documentary by Admiral Vern (2002), the events of September 11, 2001 tragically illustrated that the promise of peace and security in the 21st Century is fraught with profound dangers . The US foreign policies and interest in key geographic regions of the world sparks controversies resulting in state funded cyber attacks, cyber espionage and terrorism against the United States and its allied nations. When several attempts to cripple the United States and its allied nations through negotiations failed, enemy states and nefarious groups have shifted their focus to cyber attacks and cyber espionage. According to Gady (2016), China continues cyber espionage against the United States . Drezner (2014), Washington and Beijing hardly agree on everything, but they agree on the big things, like maintaining an open global economy, reducing the likelihood of a military confrontation, and tackling climate change . Following the US and Israeli Stuxnet attack on Iran s Nuclear program in 2010, enemy states have been targeting some critical infrastructures and federal government agencies. As the US interest in securing its borders against all threats both domestic and abroad continue to grow, several new threats and vulnerabilities colossus in its cyberspace. Participant observation How do we really find out about the way of life of a group of people? One way is to join them to participate in their daily activities amp; observe what they say and do. This research method is known as participant observation. It was used by John Howard Griffin (1960) a white journalist who dyed his skin black in order to discover what it was like to live as black man in the southern states of America in the late 1950 s. Entry was a long and difficult process until she gained the friendship and trust of a family who had recently suffered a tragic death. The sympathetic and understanding relationship she developed with members of this family provided entry to rest of the group. Conducting research Looking and listening Participant observation involves looking and listening. The general rule is to go with the flow rather than forcing the pace and influencing peoples behaviour. Since the aim is to observe people in their normal setting, the research must not disturb that setting. Blending into the background is usually recommended, though this is not always possible. For example, a participant observer in a classroom can stand out like a sore thumb. This can result in an artificial lesson. However, its surprising how soon he or she becomes invisible and taken for granted. In his study of a secondary school, Walford (1933) found that it took four weeks of observation before any class misbehaved. However, the situation changed rapidly after this time and Walford was soon watching mock wrestling and chairs flying around the classroom! Asking Questions Watching and listening are not always adequate for the researcher s purposes. Sometimes a participant observer must take a more active role in order to obtain information. This usually involves asking questions. In such cases, the diving line ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Youth Affecting Nazi Germany How did the youth Affect Nazi Germany? In Nazi Germany the youth played a very important role in the years leading up to World War II as well as fighting in the war. Hitler controlled and shaped the youth many ways including The Hitler Youth Program(HJ) for boys or the League of German Maidens(BDM) for girls. In just the HJ, there were 8.8 million youth at the start of the war. That is more than enough people to cause a problem. They could do the most good and cause the most destruction if not controlled and Hitler knew that. He indoctrinated the youth by surrounding them with Nazi propaganda and by rewriting German history. Some other things that influenced Germany were the youth resistances such as the Swing Kids and the Edelweiss Group. One way hitler planned to control the youth was by starting his Hitler Youth (HJ) program in July 1926. In the HJ boys ages 10 18 had military training such as marching, bayonet drill, grenade throwing, trench digging, map reading, gas defence, use of dugouts, how to get under barbed wire and pistol shooting as well as Nazi ideological indoctrination courses. These were to prepare them for war. Their uniforms even had badges and other decorative insignia to make it easier to transition into the army. For some reason they didn t suspect something of it. Kennedy s speech on GDP and the pros and cons Robert F Keneddy speech on GDP highlighted the unique aspects associated with the understanding of GDP. The speech talked about the meaning and importance of GDP and the misinterpretations that are often attached with the concept. He was of the view that accumulation of material things has remained a main focus of economic agents and doing so community values and community excellence are often compromised. In his speech he presented an important concept that GDP cannot be used as a measure of welfare of wellbeing of the economy because it does not take into account the health of individuals, their standard of living, quality of education provided to the individuals etc. In this way it is not a good option to rely on GDP while having an idea about the development of an economy. There are various other important aspects associated with the economy in general and community in particular that determine wellbeing of the economic agents and these aspects are totally ignored by the concept of GDP. GDP is unable to take into account the strengths of marriages, the intelligence of the public, and the integrity of the public institutions. These moral aspects of the community play significant role in its economic development too. The cardiovascular system includes the heart and blood vessels that s main job is to carry blood from the body to the heart and vice versa. The human heart is amazingly the base core of functionality for the human body, without it the human body would never function. There are three stages in the process of pumping blood throughout the body. The first stage of pumping blood throughout the body, is by pumping blood through the four main chambers of the heart, which are The right and left atrium, and the right and left Ventricle . The great vessels in the heart include the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava, which brings blood from the body to the right Atrium, then the Pulmonary artery transports blood from the right ventricle to the lungs, therefore, the Aorta the body s largest artery transports oxygen rich blood in one ... As a result, when the left vertical contracts, in forces highly pumped blood though the aortic semilunar valve into the aorta. From here the aorta and its branches carry blood to the rest of the body s tissue. Bowenian therapy embodies how humans predictably function in relationships. • 19. Good vs. Evil in John Cheever s The Five-Forty-Eight Essay Good vs. Evil in John Cheever s The Five Forty Eight John Cheever was an award winning American author of the twentieth century. His work often possessed psychological and religious vision with central themes of sin, deception, and redemption (Kennedy, 551). Cheever s short story entitled The Five Forty Eight portrays a struggle of good vs. evil. Following the themes of sin, deception, and redemption, we read of a young woman (good) seeking revenge for the evil done to her. Through the course of the story the reader can distinguish between the traits of good and evil. The Webster s dictionary defines evil as that which is morally wrong. Blake has some distinct morality issues. Blake, the evil force in the story, possesses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His relationships are not the only area of his life that we see Blake?s evil nature rise. There are subtle hints of his self obsession throughout Cheever?s story. Early on in the story, Blake is admiring himself in a plate glass window and sees himself with ?a clear reflection? and the crowds ?like shadows at his back? (551). He then sees Mrs. Dent as a ?contorted being? (551) in the same window. Blake sees himself as a flawless creature of complete perfection with the mass of city pedestrians as a blur behind his faultlessness, and he can easily pick out the imperfections in other individuals. He sees himself as the ultimate perfection, instead of seeing the negative impact he has on his friends and family. His negative interactions with friends and family are the evil force that breaks his relationships. There is no mention of any moral actions performed by him. We find yet another example of Blake?s immoral actions through his self conceit. He fails to comfort a crying Mrs. Dent, ?he felt too contented and warm and sleepy to worry about her tears? (553). Blake has no compassion for others; he only worries about his own affairs. This is indicative that Blake is morally wrong. Blake so genuinely sees himself as perfect that it is virtually impossible for him to accept any minor mistakes he makes. When he first comes across Mrs. Dent after their affair, he is surprised to find that he cannot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am sure there will be many who will be too fascinated by an AI inhibiting human behavior to worry about the consequences. As some may argue, we re just not at that point yet for many to care. However, as we get closer I do believe that the Turing Red Flag would benefit society as whole but not for all the reasons Walsh discusses. First, I agree that self driven vehicles should clearly be identifiable to human drivers. It could serve for a number of purposes, similar to how student drivers are identifiable on the road. For instance, seeing a student driver may influence other drivers to be more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It makes sense considering how we currently do not have anything in place to safeguard us from issues that may arise in the future. I feel like it s a step in the right direction but it depends on how deep the law wants to go in regulating the use of AI. The basic concept of the law seems fine, though. For example, going back to autonomous cars and how they should be identifiable to human drivers, it should be something subtle like what Walsh said, a distinct license plate. It definitely should not have a flashing green light placed on top of the vehicle. Imagine a world of self driving cars all with flashing green lights. It s not only intrusive but it s also very distracting. If we had AI blatantly impersonating a celebrity, such as commentating the World Cup as Messi, we wouldn t it periodically inform us that he s a bot because as mentioned earlier, it would take away from the experience. It might create a new social norm where humans will themselves pretend to be AI and who knows what issues (if any) that will bring. In addition to requiring AI to properly introduce themselves, it should also indicate that it s collecting data. Thus, the basic concepts of the Turing Red Flag law should be sustainable while carrying numerous benefits and minimal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. The Underground Man By Fyodor Dostoyevsky In Notes from the Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the underground man is a man who is living out [his] life in a [his] corner (2) and is paralyzed by consciousness. The underground man proposes the example of revenge as a way to examine the differences between himself and the man of action; the man of action being a man who can act as opposed to the paralysis of the underground man. The man of action can act, but his position is inconsistent. The underground man thinks he will be miserable regardless of acting or not acting; his belief in determinism causes this and he reasons incorrectly that determinism is true. The man of action and the underground man are determinists who believe all they do is predetermined. They do not believe that they have the ability to commit an action free of any predetermination or influence. All acts that happen are not by the choice of men; instead, the laws of nature are the source of the action. The underground man states the laws of nature, the deductions of natural science, mathematics (8) form a stone wall which cannot be broken. The laws of nature do not require the consent of himself, the underground man thinks, it is a case of twice two makes four! (8). To the underground man the man of action is happy and stupid, whereas the underground man is unhappy and intelligent. The underground man then presents what act necessitates revenge: the act of being slapped in the face. The case of the man of action is then presented. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Use of Excessive Force by Police Use of Excessive Force by Police Use of Excessive Force by Police Police officers are given a significant amount of discretion simply due to the nature of the job. Officers are faced with many threatening situations forcing them to react quickly, yet appropriately. They have the power to infringe upon any citizen s rights to freedom and therefore they must use this power effectively. One major concern with the amount of discretion officers have is their power to decide when to use force or when to use lethal force. Guidelines need to be set so that officers continue to incorporate and maintain the concept of community policing. Therefore, there must be information available to inform reader that police discretion not only encompasses use of police profiling, responses to domestic violence, or choices in acceptance of gratuities but discretionary decision to use force. When debating the issue of police use of force, the issue of what actions constitute too much force must also be addressed. Another concern is the possibility of corruption amount officers. When given such great power, the probability of corruption is high. Officers generally do not start out as corrupt, but years of work on the force can create animosity between officers and suspects and lead them to decide to use force more quickly (McEwen, 1996). Many times, officers patrol the streets alone which creates the opportunity for potential abuse of power (McEwen, 1996). Although police officers need to be permitted to exercise some discretion, they also need limits and guidelines to follow when using their powers of discretion (Manning, 1997). The decision to use force should not be taken lightly in that citizen s lives are at stake. Police should be allowed discretion in decisions to use force; however, this discretion should be limited. The doctor, the supposed superior in the arrangement, acts as a symbol for scientific proficiency while the patient exists as a sponge. While extensive knowledge is nonnegotiable in the field, empathy is a key component in ensuring proper diagnoses and sustaining healthy, impartial interactions. Margaret Edson s play W;t employs dialogue and discontinuous juxtaposition in order to draw attention to the inevitable disconnect between patients and providers, which endangers successful medical engagement and outcomes. Proper communication is critical in fostering interpersonal connections. This is particularly essential in medicine, as patients and providers often communicate with strictly bureaucratic terms. Dr. Kelekian and Vivian address each other with not only impersonal terms, but truly contradictory titles: Doctor and Miss respectively (7). The professionalism in doctor and the informality in Miss juxtaposes the two characters affluence, suggesting that the patient is subservient to the dominant medical professional. This power dynamic sets the stage for disproportionate, inequitable dialogue. Consequentially, this very dynamic indicates a hierarchical structure that reduces Kelekian s empathy as he does not address Vivian with her proper title, Professor . Some health care officials believe there are already safe and effective services and staffing levels implemented in prenatal and postnatal health care. Even government officials feel that there is an abundant amount of government assistance services available for prenatal and postnatal women. On April 8, 1994, Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain was found dead in the greenhouse of his home in Seattle, Washington. According to the coroner that examined Cobain, he had been dead about three days before he was found (Grove). Only just four days before his death, he escaped from Exodus Recovery Center, where he was staying to get help for his drug addiction. The same day that he escaped was the last day that he ever spoke to his wife, Courtney Love. Although it is widely believed that Kurt Cobain killed himself, with all the facts and evidence provided, it is apparent and obvious that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. To begin, Kurt and Courtney s marriage was failing. This was something that everyone around them could see. Kurt had been planning to divorce Courtney and then move out of the country. In the modern periodic table the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic numbers. In mendeleev s periodic table they were in arranged in order of increasing atomic weight. The difference in the modern and mendeleev periodic table n 1869, just five years after John Newlands put forward his law of octaves, a Russian chemist called Dmitri Mendeleev published a periodic table. Mendeleev also arranged the elements known at the time in order of relative atomic mass, but he did some other things that made his table much more successful. In the modern periodic there are families and periods.there are seven horizontal rows of elements called periods. The vertical columns of elements are called groups, or families. The Matrix. • 33. Animal Farm By George Orwell Essay Animal Farm is of course, a satirical allegory, very specifically of the Russian Revolution and of Stalin (Napoleon in the book), but more generally of revolution, the idealism of utopias, and the way in which people take control of societies founded on principles of equality. It is a satirical allegory of Soviet totalitarianism. Orwell based major events in the book on ones from the Soviet Union during the Stalin era. Orwell, a democratic socialist, and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of Stalin, and was suspicious of Moscow directed Stalinism after his experiences in the Spanish Civil War. In Animal Farm George Orwell demonstrates the psychological foundation of revolution, its processes and the irony of displacement of an oppressive regime by the new revolutionary order. The revolution is hardly complete before differences appear and so idealistic intentions are progressively undermined by the assumption of total authority by the pigs. The pigs did not actually work but directed and supervised the others. Orwell intended Animal Farm to be a strong condemnation of what he saw as the Stalinist corruption of the original socialist ideals. He, in the two books, is obsessed with the idea of revolution directly or indirectly. He described what gave him the idea of setting the book on a farm: I saw a little boy, perhaps ten years old, driving a huge carthorse along a narrow path, whipping it whenever it tried to turn. • 42. The Government And Environmental Policy Essay The Government and Environmental Policy The purpose of the United States public policy law is to implement restrictions in an effort to solve problems, which can be seen with the Clean Water Act. Public policy has also been employed to reform the Endangered Species Act of 1973. Although the United States government is noble in it s efforts to preserve the environment through these acts, the internal structure of public policy often retards these acts effectiveness. This paper will explore the many ways in which factors such as horizontal implementation, divided government, and other forms of public policy affect the environmental legislation involved with the aforementioned acts. The main factors involved with the Endangered Species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, of course, workset like incentives such as taxes, fees, allowances, refunds, and liability are used to enforce the laws effectively. Horizontal implementation refers specifically to implementation with the federal government, as opposed to vertical implementation which is at the state and local levels. There are several specific concerns with horizontal implementation which include the breakdown of coordination due to the large structure of the federal government, language difficulties, lack of control due to the threat of success by one particular agency, different perspectives, and direct change of intention due to factors such as voter pressure. It s amazing that in the midst of all this that anything can be accomplished at all, but thanks to the drive to be re elected, things have to get done on the federal level or else the person in question will be renounced from power. So now that a foundation of the processes controlling these acts has been established, the question arises, what exactly is the Endangered Species Act? As one author puts it, quot; The Endangered Species Act of 1973, perhaps more than any other environmental law, dares to draw an unwavering line in the path of American progress. It boldly says in essence, Thou shalt not cause any species of plant or animal to go extinct. As the rampart transformation of natural America for exurban development, water division projects, and timber cutting pushes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Research Paper On Solon Solon Solon was a philosopher and poet. There were not very many things about Solon. However, he sounded like a curious person to write on. In doing this research, Solon had a very interesting life during his eighty years and helped change the Athenian government in many ways. Solon was born 638B.C. in Athens, Greece. He died in 558 B.C. in Cyprus. He was mostly known as an Athenian statesman, a law reformer, and a really talented poet. He became somewhat of a mythical founding father figure that had set Athens on their path of glory during the Classical period. 1 He helped lay the groundwork for the Athenian democracy, helping lower class citizens rise up in political areas. Most of his poems that he was credited for are just fragments now, but, they were very thought provoking poems. Solon and his family belonged to a noble clan. There is not much information available about Solon s family. What is known is that his family was a very small one. They came from moderate wealth, although their lineage could possibly be traced back to the last King of Athens. His father s name was Execestides. Not much is known about his mother. Solon only had one brother, no other siblings. His brother s name was Dropides, who was an ancestor (six generations removed) of Plato2. When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was expecting something very important. I put on my shoes faster than a rabbit, and went to retrieve the mail. As I was looking through the mail one envelope caught my eyes. The envelope read You re Invited! As I opened the envelope and read it, it was from Prince Prospero and he invited me to safety from the plague. He heard I was a psychic and he wanted me to help with others who was invited into shelter, to predict if anything was going to happen. • 47. Negatives Of Sweatshops I remember hearing about sweatshops in middle school and just thinking how wrong and useless they are. After reading the articles I believe that my impression of sweatshops that has stuck with me has changed. Even though I may find sweatshops to be cruel and useless it is not for others. I agree that they are dirty and dangerous (Kristof WuDunn, 2000) and most Westerners are opposed to sweatshops, but for people in less developed countries, such as Asia they like them and want to work in them. I feel that sweatshops have many bad side effects, such as poor working conditions, pollution, and child labor, but I can see how they are starting to improve for workers and the rest of us. I still feel like they can be dangerous regardless, but they are helping so many people stay alive, have jobs, and make money. I never thought of it from that perspective and really realized just how much these jobs mean to some people. For example, the 40 year old woman in Cambodia who would do anything to work in these sweatshops just to earn enough money to buy a $5 net to save her family from getting malaria from the area they had to move in order to sell wood to have money for food. The disease had already killed some of her family and will continue to do so if she does not make the money she needs to afford one of those tents. To be honest I cannot even imagine being put into one of these situations. It is so scary and mind blowing. Working in a sweatshop would be lifesaving to her and be ...
