How Cuneiform Writing Has Changed The World
1)Cuneiform writing is known to be an ancient writing system and was created when early
civilizations needed a way to keep record of events that has happened year to year such as; grains
produced last year, the livestock that they had and the total cost of livestock. The system was
discovered in 500 BCE by the Sumerians and Mesopotamians. The use of Cuneiform writingled to
more advanced forms of writing as the years went on, it broadened their minds and later lead to
the use of papyrus as a means for portable media.
2)The printing press was such an important and revolutionary development because it allowed
books to be mass produced, before the printing press all books had to be hand written. This
created countless errors in the print and limited overall production of books due to the required
time it takes to handwrite a book. The first printed book that was known to have changed the world
was the Gutenberg Bible , produced in 1455. It was the first mass produced written word.

The Uk Parliament Is Increasingly Dominated by the Executive
Parliament is increasingly dominated by the executive . Discuss [16]
The word parliament derives from a word loosely translated as to talk or to deliberate . The UK
Parliament consists officially of the two Houses of Parliament: the Lords and the Commons and the
monarch, which by convention, delegates his or her authority to a group of ministers known as the
executive. The role of parliament is mainly to legislate and to govern the United Kingdom through
elected representatives. However the executive has a special role over the legislatures and it has
been argued that the UK Parliament has become increasingly dominated by the executive.
The executive is made up of the Prime Minister (PM) acting in place on the monarch and a group of

If a member decides to vote against the party, sanctions can be imposed and in a serious situation
when a member rebels, the PM can dismiss or appoint the member to a different position.
Therefore the PM can ensure that the executive s priorities and views are expressed in the
legislatures.
However the executive s control in this regard is not total. There have been headline grabbing
notices of member s rebelling against the government position and resigning their position. For
example Robin Cook, then leader of the Commons and labour MP resigned his post due to the
government s position on Iraq. More recently in March 2008, Brown s government saw rebellion
and the opposition saw resignations over the issue of the failure to implement a promised
referendum on a new EU reform treaty. As we can see the executive s dominance of the members
of the legislature is not total but rebellions are a rarity.
The power of the PM to appoint cabinet ministers allows him or her to shape policy and therefore
legislation. The Prime Minister appoints the speaker of the house and the Lord Chancellor among
others. In this way, the PM and appointees of the executive can have considerable sway over the
legislature. The Lord Chancellor serves as a leading figure in the House of Lords but also chairs and
attends executive meetings. Although the PM usually appoints ministers from his or her party and
those who whom he or she has a good accord with, this is not always the

Project Delivery System For The State Of Texas
FINDINGS
This paper is an attempt to satisfy the needs of an owner to make an educated decision in choosing
a project delivery system for their project. With the introduction of Bridging method of project
delivery, it is a challenging task for the owner to make a decision about the most suitable method of
project delivery for the geographic location of their project. As, it requires historical data about
performance of similar projects or the owners can obtain data from research conducted by scholars

Unit Cost ($/SF): Mean construction cost in US dollars required to build one square foot of the
facility. The formula to calculate the unit cost is:
Unit Cost = As Built Construction Cost / Size of the Facility in SF
The mean unit cost values of the projects ranged from approximately $100/SF to $400/SF, and the
comparison clearly depicts that using the Bridging method of project delivery has given the lowest
mean cost in comparison to other project delivery systems. ii. Cost Growth: Cost growth is the
percentage mean change in the cost of the project as compared to the contracted cost of the project.
The formula to compare the cost growth is:
Cost Growth =(Contracted construction cost As built construction cost)Contracted construction cost
The mean cost growth in cost of construction when compared to the contracted cost is the highest
in Design bid build and is the lowest in Design build. The approximate values of mean cost
growth lies around 3% to 9%. iii. Delivery Speed (SF/month): Average SF construction that was
delivered in one month divided by 30 days.
The range of delivery speed lies approximately between 5000 to 13000 SF/month. D B B has the
lowest delivery speed and D B has the highest. iv. Schedule Growth (%): Schedule growth is a
percentage of increase in the duration of the project compared to as planned duration. It is

Dot s Doughnut Shop
Despite its location, Dot s Doughnut shop was about to get famous. The shop was a mini diner
near the Interstate 23, a block away from New John City, but the place was well visited though.
They recently came out with the new Double Decker doughnut that had two prodigious donuts
glued together by vanilla custard creme. It quickly became the #1 best selling snack in the
county. The only thing that kept citizens from buying it was the distance from the city, and the
shop didn t have home delivery, so people would call cabs or take the bus. Also, people wouldn t
be able to buy their products because people would have spent all of their money on rides to the
shop. On the shop s 25th anniversary, they sold all donuts for 50% off. Peculiarly there

The Most Memorable Moments Of My Life
One of the most memorable moments of my life was liking a guy named Bronson. It went from

that one question ever two friends have to know about each other, their crush well instead of her

a chance of picking the wrong guy. {It was my beauty type} But anyway let s get back on track, a

Eiffel Tower
The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in
1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable
structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid
monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer
Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair.
The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. During its
construction, the Eiffel Towersurpassed theWashington Monument to assume the title of the tallest
man made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in ... Show

The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore.
Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig
iron structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non
metal components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design,
if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base
to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter.
Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to
18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun.
Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect
it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to
maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are
used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color
of the paint is changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are
interactive consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. The only non
structural elements are the four decorative grillwork arches, added in Stephen Sauvestre s sketches,

Explain What Is Meant By St. Augustine Of Hippo
Questions about sin have been the focus of much theological conversation and discussion for the
reason that how one answers them strongly influences the rest of Christian doctrine. Augustine of
Hippo is regarded as one of the most important and well known theologians and philosophers in the
history of the Christian religion. His writings influenced the development of Western Christianity
and Western philosophy. Augustine s faith development recorded in treatises, sermons, and letters
highlights the theological landscape of the time and one man s journey to Christianity. Augustine
developed his own approach to philosophy and theology, accommodating a variety of methods and
perspectives through traditions and history. St. Augustine of Hippo... Show more content on

Both Pegasus and Augustine based their teachings off the writings of Paul, to the point that
Augustine discovered what he saw as the essence of Christian faith by reading Romans. The basis
of Augustine s Doctrine of Original Sin stemmed from the thought that original sin was transmitted
from generation to generation through sexual intercourse. The theology of original sin that
Augustine articulated in 397 is reflected clearly and repeatedly in Augustine s most famous writing,
his Confessions, which he began to write at the same time, shortly after he became bishop of Hippo.
Augustine understood original sin in that:
. . . all men, born according to nature, are born with sin, that is, without the fear of God, without
confidence towards God and with concupiscence, and that this original disease or flaw is truly a
sin, bringing condemnation and also eternal death to those who are not reborn through baptism and
the Holy Spirit (Article II). Augsburg Confession of Faith

Dark and Light Imagery Within the Hobbit
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien is said to be one of the greatest children s novels of all time. The
novel, due to its use of such characters as goblins, elves, trolls, giants, and others is in tradition, a
fairy tale. The tale centers on a small hobbit by the name of Bilbo Baggins. It follows the journey
of a band of dwarves, a wizard named Gandalf, and their robber, Bilbo on their way to retrieving
treasure that had long been taken away from them. The hobbittraveled all over Middle Earth,
beginning with Bilbo s tiny hobbit hole in the ground, to Mirkwood forest, to finally reaching the
Mountain in which the dragon Smaug lives. Tolkien uses a large amount of imagery in his writing
which can been seen through settings in The Hobbit. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when Bilbo is surrounded by darkness in Mirkwood he calls it a patch of midnight
that had never been cleared away (Tolkien 171). To be surrounded by total and complete darkness
is alarming. Bilbo is frightened and sits down to rest after frantically searching for the dwarves.
This example of imagery also helps empathize the cryptic nature of Mirkwood forest.
Tolkien uses a larger amount of dark imager in The Hobbit then he does light. This is because the
narrator concentrates chiefly on Bilbo s feelings about situations and places. Bilbo isn t very happy
to be on the adventure and it considerably shows in his descriptions of people and places.
Throughout the better part of the tale, he mentions his warm, hobbit hole in the ground and wishes
to be back there rather then journeying to Smaug s mountain.
Bilbo was in situations in which he had to fend for himself. When Gandalf, Bilbo, and the
dwarves were kidnapped by the goblins, Bilbo escaped and had to survive in the Mountains by
himself. He had had no companions and it had been pitch black in the tunnels. He was also in
many situations in which he had to fend of his life, as well as the lives of the thirteen dwarves.
The last role that imagery plays in The Hobbit is to foreshadow events. When Bilbo was deep in
the caves of Moria, it is complete and total darkness. The narrator, in one passage says, When
Bilbo opened his eyes, he wondered whether if he

Descriptive Essay About My Sisters
I was five years old when I realized that my sister and I were very similar. There were physical
similarities that had my sister and I could be mistaken for twins, but we often acted very different.
I could not fathom at the time how my sister and I could in any way be similar, due to the
differences in our personalities. Sure, we looked alike, blondhair, and blue eyes like our dad. We
were tall and both active. We resembled each other, certainly, but to our eyes we couldn t be more
different.
My sister enjoyed teasing me and being annoying, working me into a rage, while I enjoyed being
silent and reading. She enjoyed playing outside, while inside was where I felt I belonged. She
was part of the popular group, and I enjoyed the company of plebeians. These were some of the
things different between us that I remember of that time. But it wasn t some relative physical
similarities that convinced me that we were similar, it wasn t a family diner. It was a meeting at the
airport when we were waiting for our grandfather when a complete stranger walked up to us and
told us what cute twins you are . It was a stranger s comment, what cute twins you are that made me
look at more than our similarities. The stranger s comments made the five year old Anna realize
that there was so much between us. It was not just the color of our hair which was blond, or our
deep blue eyes. It was not just that we were always tall for our age, and still are (my sister is 6 feet
tall and I am 5 9 ).
What convinced me that we were so very similar and that the stranger at the airport might be
onto something was some of the things we would say and do in our country home in Missouri.
We would speak double, each saying the same thing at the same moment. This happened many
times, and often we would finish each other s sentences. We knew each other s jokes and could
finish the punchline perfectly as well as one person could. We had the same sense of humor,
laughing to ourselves at a reference or a bit of wordplay doubly said between us amidst giggles to
the same joke, or how we d use the same gestures to express ourselves when we spoke, or how we
had the same taste in music.
It was telling our deepest, darkest secrets and our fears to each

Portrayation Of Women In Nervous Conditions By Tsitsi...
During the 1960 s disproportionate gender roles characterized post colonial Rhodesia. The
African patriarchy described in Tsitsi Dangarembga s acclaimed novel, Nervous Conditions,
promotes feminist theory through the portrayal of marginalized women in Zimbabwe.
Regardless of class or social prowess, women were not permitted the same liberties and regarded
with the same respect as their male counterparts. Women found themselves relegated to the
positions of household servants, and excluded from the labor markets by the societies males.
(Mbatha 23) Female characters of the novel consistently struggle with nervous conditions
around males, stemming from years of oppression under the Shona power system. Throughout
her novel, Nervous Conditions, Dangarembga exemplifies the various forms of oppression faced
by Shona women as well as methods they utilized to resist the oppressive male patriarchy. Prior
to her brother s death, Tambu s educational aspirations were secondary to her role in the
household. Nhamo s birthright as the family s first born male exemplifies the injustice faced by
Tambu from a young age. This disparity is further exemplified as Tambu states the needs and
sensibilities of the women in my family were not considered a priority or even legitimate.
(Dangaremba 12). Her aspirations to be properly educated are viewed as an unnecessary expense
in regard to women s roles in Shona culture. Jerimiah s ridicule of this proposition represents the

Autobiography Of A Face And Pleasantville Essay

These are the processed cheeses most commonly found in grocery stores and markets in the United
States. These cheeses do not require refrigeration and have a very long shelf life, sometimes going
several weeks or a few months without spoiling. American cheese and reduced fat cheeses are
common examples of processed, pre packed pasteurized cheeses. Typically processed cheeses are
required to have artificial flavoring added to them because during the pasteurization process, the
milk s natural flavors are removed, which reduces the natural flavor of the cheese itself. These
processed, pre packaged and pasteurized cheeses are also commonly referred to as club cheeses or
cold cut cheeses.
Pasteurized cheeses are the most common types of cheeses found in markets and grocery stores
and they are the only type of cheeses considered safe and approved for regular consumption by the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Pasteurized cheeses are also good for many recipes, whether
just as an appetizer or paired with crackers, fruit, and wine.

Teenagers and the Plastic Surgery Epidemic Essay
Today, an overwhelming number of American teenagers choose to alter their body in order to fit
the unrealistic standard of physical attractiveness created by our beauty obsessed culture. Teens feel
an immense amount of pressure to look beautiful from the media, peers and even parents. Teenagers
are going to extreme lengths to reach this physical perfection, but when it comes down to it, just
how far is too far? The numbers of teens going through with plastic surgeryis startling and will
continue to rise as America falls in to a beauty obsessed epidemic. The most drastic method used
for mega alterations among teenagers is plastic surgery. There are two types of plastic surgery:
reconstructive and cosmetic (Monohan).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teenagers look beyond these risks in order to gain a more beautiful appearance. The media is
one of the biggest influences when it comes to teens altering their body. Society today has brain
washed American teenagers into believing that the only way a person can be seen as beautiful is
if they look like the images they see plastered on billboards, on television, in movies and on the
cover of magazines. Everywhere teenagers look, they are presented with pictures of idealized,
saturated, air brushed models. Viewing these images plants a strong desire in many teens to reach
an utterly attainable physical perfection. Research shows that teens active in pop culture and the
media are more likely to alter their bodies in a way that fits with societies outlook on beauty (Mann).
Teenagers are greatly affected by what they see in the media and who they look up to. When
they see all of the celebrities constantly altering their bodies to look a certain way, they want to
too. Years ago, plastic surgery was only available for the rich and famous. Today plastic surgery
is cheaper and more popular, making it more common around the country. TV shows that depict
plastic surgery such as Extreme Makeover, The Swan, and MTV s I Want a Famous Face, have
planted the desire in young women and men to change their appearance. These television shows
make plastic surgery look like a simple procedure where everyone leaves happy.

in the water will break down minerals from the stone through which it passes. These minerals are

Environmental Hormone Mimics: Their Effects on Public Health and the Environment Cassandra
Kaur Sheanh California State University, Fresno Abstract This paper explores three published
articles that reflect the findings from studies conducted to examine the relationships between
environmental hormone mimics (endocrine disruptors) and their effect on the human body. This
paper specifically discusses three key environmental hormone mimics: bisphenol A, dioxins, and
pesticides. Each of the three studies links the chosen environmental hormone mimic to
abnormalities caused by exposure to the chemicals. Bisphenol A is linked directly to altering
estrogen levels in women. The consequences are carried onto the child if the carrying mother
ingests BPA while pregnant. Dioxins are extremely harmful and cannot be disposed of easily despite
the amount of land, money, and clean up efforts that are taken. Pesticides simply from working in
fields or by eating fruits and vegetables are very harmful in men. A male s reproductive system is
directly impaired as sperm counts drop dramatically and abnormalities effecting sperm size and
shape occur. Environmental Hormone Mimics and Their Effects on Public Health and the
Environment The National Institute of Environmental Health Services defines environmental
hormone mimics as a generic term for chemical substances, termed endocrine disruptors, that enter
the body and mimic hormones thus disrupting the

Preschool Observation: Konnor
Setting/Environment:
On November 13, 2014 at Grossmont College s Child Development Center, I observed Konnor
who was born on March 11, 2011. At the center, there are roughly around 15 children between the
ages of three and five; there is one adult for every six or so kids. The preschool center s indoor
environment is safely secured with a locked gate that separates the outside door which leads to the
younger children centers and parking lot with the hallway to the learning and play area. There are
two separate rooms, but they both have screen doors that lead to the same play area outside. The

He grabs one blue block and places it to one side, and begins to do that with every other color
presented to him. Konnor begins to stack up the Lego blocks separately according to the color; all
the blue blocks were stacked neatly in a separate stack, as well as the red blocks and so on.
Konnor shows maturation and according to Berger, maturation of the prefrontal cortex can be
identified through observing children play certain games such as Simon Says, and the color
game, which was found that children were able to sort the cards out by their color. (234) Konnor
shows maturation because he was able to unstack the uncoordinated colored blocks to color
coordinate them, unlike a few children surrounding him who profusely stacked the blocks,
regardless of the color order. At 3 years and 8 months old, Konnor is within the norm for this
development since it appears at 3 years old (Berger, 234). Konnor picks up a tree branch that has
fallen beside a tree, he stares at it and looks up at the tree and back at the branch. With the branch
still gripped firmly in his hand, Konnor begins to lift his body to wrap his arms and legs around
the tree. Hugging the tree with his body, Konnor begins to ease his way up the tree by pushing
his legs up first to scoot the lower half of his body up, and then lifting his arms up further to scoot
up his upper body as well. Konnor shows gross motor skills and according to Berger, gross motor

Postman s Analysis of Brave New World
As analyzed by social critic Neil Postman, Huxley s vision of the future, portrayed in the novel
Brave New World, holds far more relevance to present day society than that of Orwell s classic
1984. Huxley s vision was simple: it was a vision of a trivial society, drowned in a sea of pleasure
and ignorant of knowledge and pain, slightly resembling the world of today. In society today,
knowledge is no longer appreciated as it has been in past cultures, in turn causing a deficiency in
intelligence and will to learn. Also, as envisioned by Huxley, mind altering substances are becoming

Misogyny Reoccurs In Candide
Voltaire, the pen name of François Marie Arouet, was very creative in his way of outing the pure
ridiculousness of the ideas and morals of 18th century Europeans. In the mid 1700 s, Voltaire
penned the adventures of Candide s quest to find his love, and how his innocence is corrupted
along the way. Candidepossesses many main ideas, including misogyny, the exploitation of women,
the unholy acts that holy men perform, and the fatal flaws of optimism, which leads me to believe
that 18th century Europe was doomed to a fate of death, terror, and violence.
The theme of misogyny reoccurs throughout the entire story of Candide and scenes of violence and
the rape of women imply that these were common occurrences at this time. As Candide deserts ...

live life with nothing and this man ironically breaks this promise by stealing the gold and jewels
from Cunegonde. This man who promised to live in poverty sins when he falls into the trap of
thinking money equals happiness and becomes a thief. Voltaireproves that no matter who you are,

The identified dis benefits of the plan in section 2 are not always eliminated but can be reduced to

3.1Mitigations of noise pollution
Noise pollution cannot be fully eliminated but as stated before, it can be reduced to an acceptable
level. Effects of noise varies greatly depending on the types of source, location of the recipient and
the time of production. Hence, the noise produced by the aviation industry and its related
operations are mitigated by different techniques and methods, which are as follows.
Design changes: Reduction of noise at the source such as exhausts from aircrafts and ground
vehicles, airframe noise and power plants via noise reduction technologies. Especially regarding
aircrafts, they have become quitter over the years as the technological advancement in propulsion
system of the aircraft has allowed the manufacturers to build less noisy aircrafts compared to its
predecessors [9]. A possible future solution for the noise pollution relating to combustion aircrafts
could be electric aircrafts. It would be an ideal solution for the

The Contributions Of Socialism In The Jungle, By Upton...
Have you ever heard of the book called The Jungle? This book was written by Upton Sinclair, a
muckraker. Harry Sinclair Lewis was a janitor at Upton Sinclair s socialist colony and he was
influenced by Sinclair s idea of socialism. Therefore, their ideas are very much alike even though
their childhood backgrounds were completely different. Upton Sinclair had a great impact on
society by addressing social issues in the early 1900 s, so what is the significance of Lewis s
works? Some of his major representative works are Main Street, Babbitt, and Arrowsmith (
Assignment Five Sinclair LewisBabbitt ). These books played a big role on muckraking the social
corruptions in his time period.
One of the reasons that Lewis s works are so significant is that he has a unique style of writing
and a very revolutionary way of thinking. It is obvious from the book Main Street in which the
story takes place on the Main Street in Gopher Prairie, a small town. People in the story are old
fashioned, very religious, and have little interest in their government. In this story, Carol tries to
reform the village so that it can become more modern and beautiful, but as she tries to introduce
new traditions to the town, she starts to realize that many of the people who live there are not
very welcoming of the social reforms, and they think it is better to settle down and enjoy small
town life ( Main Street ).This work by Lewis satirizes the duplicity, intolerance, and resistance to
change in small

Sustainable Golf Program Essay
Comparison with other sustainable certification programs
Surprisingly, there are only a few hundred sustainable certification programs in the world. Many of
them are in the food industry. They often focus on sustainable production of food and social justice
for employees or businesses in developing nations that trade with developed nations, such as the
coffee industry. One of the best known and earliest such programs is the Fairtrade standards
developed in the 1980s by a Dutch development agency working with Mexican farmers.

Sustainable golf courses are the future of golf
In the past, golf has had a rather poor reputation with regards to its environmental track record, and
deservedly so. The Audubon golf program promises to change that. It promises to not simply
remedy the negative reputation the industry has, but to create a positive environmental record that
will get golf perceived in a whole new light.
It will accomplish that not by some kind of spin doctoring or PR stunt. It will do it by actually
making golf courses more environmentally sound businesses. The world is currently at a critical
juncture. Two paths lie before us. One path promises that we keep harming the environment until it
will not longer support more than 7 billion people. The other path is one where we learn how to
take care of the environment so that it can continue to take care of us.
The only sane choice is the second one. Golf courses are businesses that are uniquely situated to
help support wildlife by creating wildlife corridors as part of their appeal. No other for profit,
suburban business has the same kind of potential to fill this important

a cartridge containing the liquid (Figure 1).

conduct metabolic with least stress. However to understand the exact relationship between the
change in ambient temperatureon endothermic metabolic rate, metabolic system measurement
would be carried out to measure the ambient temperature and oxygen percentage. The hypothesis

Prior to the experiment, the eight mice were exposed to room temperature for 10 days so all the
mice can adjust to a constant temperature. One thing that s important to understand in order to
measure the metabolic rate is the mouse should not be growing, pregnant, eating, nor very active
during this process. This is because the growing, pregnant, eating and being active requires
excessive amount of metabolic activities. On experiment day, set up the metabolic measurement
setup as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 is consist of a air pump for pumping air throughout the system

of air required for the mouse to survive in the chamber, the flow meter is required to maintain
constant observation of oxygen provided for the animal. Then after the flowmeter is followed by

chamber is the temperature probe for measuring the temperature inside the chamber. Next is the

Women In Sonnet 130 And The Twelfth Night
Due to this patriarchal society prevalent in Elizabethan literature, women were often seen as
dangerous. While the Twelfth Night is more obvious, Sonnet 130 is more subtle about the
dangerous woman. By describing his mistress as defying all of society s beauty standards, the
speaker s mistress is leading to the downfall of male control. Historically, women have gone to
great lengths to meet a beauty standard which men helped create and enforce since they have to
meet male standards in order to find a partner. Due to this, the speaker in Sonnet 130 is describing
his mistress as breaking out of the standard which many men interpret as heresy since she is not
putting forth an effort to conform to what men say is beautiful. Since she is unique, the speaker
loves her for that and this idea that men can love someone for not conforming is something that
would have been frowned upon in the late 1500 s to early 1600 s. Likewise, the Twelfth Nightuses
Viola to warn about the dangers of women. Since Viola was impersonating a man, she deceived
everyone in Illyria and from there, she used her position to manipulate people like Olivia and
Orsino into doing what she wanted. Men would commonly interpret Viola as a dangerous woman
because of that and also because she was stubborn and individualistic. These traits were not
commonly accepted among women in the 15 1600 s though they became more prevalent during the
enlightenment when women were gaining political power. Viola was created to

Linguistics and Child
.Introduction
Language is a human tendency to communicate with others and this could underlie the emergence
of language. Montessori said, To talk is in the nature of man. Humans needed language in order to
communicate, and soon, the powers that come with language were revealed. The evolution of the
human language began when communication was done through pictograms or pictures and
drawings.
It then developed into ideograms when pictures began to turn into symbols. Later, these symbols
became words, words involved letters, vowels emerged, one symbol came to represent one sound,
an alphabet was created, and then came the alphabet we now use today. And just as language

Montessori Prepared Environment | | | |
|
The prepared environment is Maria Montessori s concept that the environment can be designed
to facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration by the child. In the prepared
environment, there is a variety of activity as well as a great deal of movement. In a preschool
classroom, for example, a three year old may be washing clothes by hand while a four year old
nearby is composing words and phrases with letters known as the movable alphabet, and a five
year old is performing multiplication using a specially designed set of beads. In an elementary
classroom, a small group of six to nine year old children may be using a timeline to learn about
extinct animals while another child chooses to work alone, analyzing a poem using special
grammar symbols. Sometimes an entire class may be involved in a group activity, such as
storytelling, singing, or movement. In the calm, ordered space of the Montessori prepared
environment, children work on activities of their own choice at their own pace. They experience a
blend of freedom and self discipline in a place especially designed to meet their developmental

Gerard David Virgin And Child With Four Angels
Gerard David created his oil on wood painting Virgin and Child with Four Angels from 1510 to
1515 in Bruges, Netherlands. The piece is currently located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in
New York City and is found in Gallery 640 as part of the museum s collection of European
paintings. Just as the title indicates, the painting s subject is the Blessed Virgin Maryholding her
infant son JesusChrist, the prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament, while being crowned by
angels. Through the use of formal artistic techniques, David conveys the miraculous and perfect
nature of the Mary, stressing her importance as the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven in a
realistic and relatable manner.
Throughout the Virgin and Child with Four Angels, David employs the use of color to emphasize
the miraculous nature of the religious subject matter. From the ornate jewels of the crown to the
ruby red color of Mary s gown to the amethyst purple sash of the angel in the upper right, the
application of rich jewel tones induces a sense of royal holiness to figures. Their brightness and
warmth successfully draw the viewer s attention to figures possessing them and generate an

Another symbol is in the middle ground of the piece, where a monk is praying in the field by the

spreading the Word of God in the Christian Gospel. Therefore, the monk s presence creates a sense

Karl Marx on the German Ideology
Karl Marx on the German Ideology: Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels collaborated to produce The
German Ideology, which was one of the classic texts generated by the two. Even though The
German Ideology stands our as one of the major texts produced by the two, it was never
published during Marx s lifetime. This was a clear expression of the theory of history by Marx
and its associated materialist metaphysics. One of the main reasons this text is a classic text by
these philosophers is the fact that it introduces students to the basic tenets of the philosopher s
approach. Notably, Karl Marxproduced The German Ideology in 1846 as a critique of George
Friedrich Hegel and his followers in Germany. The philosophers sought to differentiate their
concept of socialism from existing ones and exhibit how socialism emerges ordinarily from the
social conflicts embedded in capitalism.
Background to the Introduction of The German Ideology: The introduction of The German
Ideology can be attributed to the intellectual influences Karl Marx received from the philosophy
of George Friedrich Hegel ( Karl Marx , par, 2). Hegel s philosophical concept was based on the
idea of the dialectic, which was initially used to describe the procedure of logical argumentation
and refutation. While earlier philosophers had treated this signature concept as a process of
generating accurate ideas, Hegel argued that these ideas develop based on a constant procedure of
disagreement and resolution. He

Introduction Among various nutritional problems prevalent in India, deficiency of vitamin A is
quite severe and is affecting mainly malnourished children and women. Efforts have been made
from time to time to combat vitamin A deficiency (VAD) using various food stuffs. Vegetables oils
are an essential ingredient in cooking and are the chief source of dietary fat, which is one the
essential nutrient required by human beings. A wide variety of edible oils are available in the
market viz.groundnut oil, soybean oil, mustard oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil etc. under various
brand names. However, these oils are devoid of ОІ carotene and can contribute a little to alleviate
VAT. Crude palm oil, which is an excellent source of О
І carotene, can be used for blending with
commonly used cooking oils and can help to overcome the deficiency of Vitamin A. Palm oil is
extracted from the mesocarp of the fruit of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) and the oil is derived
from the kernel seed of the palm (Poku, 2002). Palm oil has a characteristic dark red color
because of a high amount of beta carotene (Lai et.al.,2015; Ng and Choo,2016).Palm oil is
commonly used as cooking medium in Africa, Southeast Asia and parts of Brazil due to its lower
cost (Behrman et al, 2005). and its nutritional and health attributes have been well

Raphaels Bible Vs. Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Raphael s Bible compared to Michelangelo s Sistine Chapel
Arguing that Raphael s Bible was meant to physically and theoretically fill a spare gap in the
Vatican s representation of the bible requires deepening our appreciation of the Sistine Chapel.
Indeed, one could think that there is no big difference between these two masterpieces since
Michelangelo also depicts the Old Testament: nevertheless, it is by looking at the choice of scenes
and stories represented in both stories that the differences emerge. In Raphael s Bible, the artist
voluntary chose to avoid the violent and degrading scenes of the Old Testament: the drunkenness of
Noah (see fig. 10) the mockery of his own son, his daughters sleeping with him, that were on the

Ningaloo Reef
(a.) Clearly IDENTIFY the coastal environment you have chosen to search
The coastal environment I have decided to talk about today is Ningaloo Reef. The reef is on the
remote western coast of Australia, it includes one of the longest nearshore reefs in the world.
Temperate and tropical currents converge in the Ningaloo region resulting in highly diverse marine
life including spectacular coral reefs, abundant fishes and species with special conservation
significance such as turtles, whale sharks, dugongs, whales and dolphins.
(b.) Describe the location
The reefs latitude ranges from 21В°42 14 S 24В° 1 52 S (one of the highest for reefs) and the
longitude is between 113В°25 E 114В° 15. The Ningaloo Reef stretches over 300 km from North
West Cape to Red Bluff, is located in the Ningaloo Marine Bioregion and is the largest fringing
coral reef in Australia, the reef is enclosed within the Ningaloo Marine Park, listed on the World
Heritage List in 1987.

experienced massive bleaching in 2011 at Bundegi, on the western side of Exmouth Gulf, where
live coral cover crashed from 80% to 6%, almost all the adult coral was

Bwlch Mine Lab Report
The concentration of Pb varies across the site, with the pattern observed noticeably similar to that
seen with Sb. The highest concentrations of Pb are at sites close to the mine building, with a
value of 57729 ppm at site 7. There is also a peak at site 11 of 38773 ppm in an area uncovered by
vegetation. Uphill of the mine, Pb is present but in lower amounts.
Moss
Moss samples at both sites generally follow the pattern of elements found in the corresponding
soils. At Bwlch mine, the highest concentrations of Pb, Zn and Mg were all found at site 7, next to
the mine building, on areas of fine grained tailings. The concentration of Pb in particular shows that
some of the more immobile toxic elements are bioavailable to plants.
Moss samples collected at Parc mine show no statistically significant correlation between Zn and
Cd in the moss and soil samples although a strong correlation can be found for Pb and Mg (table
*). Pb is highest in site 2 at 27284 ppm and drops to 95 ppm in site 3. Zn ranges to from 311 ppm
to 54 ppm; Cd from 2400 ppm to 19 ppm and Mg from 182 ppm.

some areas, vegetation has managed to re establish itself around the mine buildings although some
areas where fine grained material is present, vegetation has failed to take hold. In the area to the

I Will Show A Picture For Everyone
First I will show a picture for everyone. Does everyone know this five people?
This five people are Chinese teachers. They came to the UK using Chinese traditional ways to
teach UK students. And take exam to compare with British education way which education
methods are better. About the result when I finish the Presentation I will tell everybody. In this
Presentation I will focus on 3 parts, first parts is basic system second parts is teaching methodology
third parts is subject
Let s go to the first parts, in the first part I will give three sections class size, timetable, and after
class. As you can see the first picture is Chinese class, In China one class often have 50 students
however in UK class students is less than the China. There are often have 30 students in each class.
It means that in China teacher cannot pay attention to the each student like student s feedback but
in UK teacher can do it.
Now I d like to show you timetable for school day. You can clearly find that the first table is longer
than the second table because in China students have 8 classes in everyday but in UK they only
have 6classes. Chinese teacher assume that when student at school long time, it can make student
improve their learning efficiency. However they neglect the student can feel so tired because they
often stay at school more than 9hours everyday. Direct regulation British students are relaxed. After
class they can go to the Interest Groups or play with their friends when they

Difference Between Private And Private Schools
Central Catholic school, Columbian Christian school, Jim Bridger school and David Douglas
School. So many different schools. How does a parent choose? Education is undoubtedly is an issue
with different opinions when deciding between private and public schools. Our country is a country
of contrasts, economically, socially and geographically. Educationis the action or process of
impacting knowledge to another (Merriam Webster) with trained teachers, good books, updated
technology and a high quality curriculum. The public schools are institutions open to all kinds of
students without monthly payments. For example, children with low income recourses, children
with special needs (Handicapped, MR condition), aggressive behavior, learning disabilities and
most of the times these institutions accept children whose English is not their native language.
Students wear civilian cloths and they are not required to purchase any type of uniform. Most of
the time parents do not have to pay for meals provided in schools or pay for any extra class given
by the school. However, several of the schools ask the parents to buy school supplies with the
purpose of having a productive school year.
Second, private schools are institutions which are managed with the money of those parents who
can afford the high cost of each month. Parents not only pay the high tuition fees but also should
have to pay for school supplies, regular uniforms, sport uniforms, food provided inside of these

Because of this brain transplant, she sometimes felt that she was not really herself but felt that
she was Gail, who was the body of the person she was in. This is also an allusion to another Alice

The Myers-Briggs Personality Test

they are and determines their relationships at work, school, and home and with spouse. It goes

scientist, thinkers, artist, and so on. So in this project I will be receiving my four letter type and
two letter Temperaments by completing the Myers Briggs Personality Test. It is not at all
surprising that as people of different characters, ideas, personalities, and sizes are sharing the same

Air Pollution Is An Unavoidable Mixture Of Substances That...
Air pollution is an unavoidable mixture of substances that we breathe in. There is no way to
escape air pollution nowadays since it can be encountered indoors as well as outdoors. The type
of pollution we breathe in can be divided between indoor and outdoor by the different types of air
pollution that are released in these environments. Fine particles such as burning fossil fuels (such
that come from traffic and energy production), tobacco smoke, and chemical vapors are found in
the air breathed in from outdoors, while solvents (such as found in household cleaners and
products), mold, and carbon monoxide are sadly breathed in from within homes and businesses on
a daily basis.
There is no question to anyone s mind that these air pollutants cause harmful effects to one s health.
Studies have been conducted to link air pollution to the hundreds of ailments that many men,
women and children have suffered over the years. Cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses are
without a doubt caused by air pollution as studies have shown. Today there are studies showing that
Autism is linked to air pollution. The purpose of this paper is a review of the current state of
knowledge on air pollution and whether it plays a role in children developing autism.
Autism is a disability that impairs the normal brain development in children. It causes deficits in
their verbal and non verbal communication, social interaction, and play. Girls are more likely to

During the 50 s and early 60 s Sinatra remained the top seller in the album market. He worked

films as The Man with the Golden Arm, Suddenly, and one of his greatest films Guys and Dolls.
MGM said he (Frank) was so skinny, he wouldn t throw a shadow. I told them he would throw

  • 2. How Cuneiform Writing Has Changed The World 1)Cuneiform writing is known to be an ancient writing system and was created when early civilizations needed a way to keep record of events that has happened year to year such as; grains produced last year, the livestock that they had and the total cost of livestock. The system was discovered in 500 BCE by the Sumerians and Mesopotamians. The use of Cuneiform writingled to more advanced forms of writing as the years went on, it broadened their minds and later lead to the use of papyrus as a means for portable media. 2)The printing press was such an important and revolutionary development because it allowed books to be mass produced, before the printing press all books had to be hand written. This created countless errors in the print and limited overall production of books due to the required time it takes to handwrite a book. The first printed book that was known to have changed the world was the Gutenberg Bible , produced in 1455. It was the first mass produced written word. 3) ... • 3. The Uk Parliament Is Increasingly Dominated by the Executive Parliament is increasingly dominated by the executive . Discuss [16] The word parliament derives from a word loosely translated as to talk or to deliberate . The UK Parliament consists officially of the two Houses of Parliament: the Lords and the Commons and the monarch, which by convention, delegates his or her authority to a group of ministers known as the executive. The role of parliament is mainly to legislate and to govern the United Kingdom through elected representatives. However the executive has a special role over the legislatures and it has been argued that the UK Parliament has become increasingly dominated by the executive. The executive is made up of the Prime Minister (PM) acting in place on the monarch and a group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a member decides to vote against the party, sanctions can be imposed and in a serious situation when a member rebels, the PM can dismiss or appoint the member to a different position. Therefore the PM can ensure that the executive s priorities and views are expressed in the legislatures. However the executive s control in this regard is not total. There have been headline grabbing notices of member s rebelling against the government position and resigning their position. For example Robin Cook, then leader of the Commons and labour MP resigned his post due to the government s position on Iraq. More recently in March 2008, Brown s government saw rebellion and the opposition saw resignations over the issue of the failure to implement a promised referendum on a new EU reform treaty. As we can see the executive s dominance of the members of the legislature is not total but rebellions are a rarity. The power of the PM to appoint cabinet ministers allows him or her to shape policy and therefore legislation. The Prime Minister appoints the speaker of the house and the Lord Chancellor among others. In this way, the PM and appointees of the executive can have considerable sway over the legislature. The Lord Chancellor serves as a leading figure in the House of Lords but also chairs and attends executive meetings. Although the PM usually appoints ministers from his or her party and those who whom he or she has a good accord with, this is not always the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The shop was a mini diner near the Interstate 23, a block away from New John City, but the place was well visited though. They recently came out with the new Double Decker doughnut that had two prodigious donuts glued together by vanilla custard creme. It quickly became the #1 best selling snack in the county. The only thing that kept citizens from buying it was the distance from the city, and the shop didn t have home delivery, so people would call cabs or take the bus. Also, people wouldn t be able to buy their products because people would have spent all of their money on rides to the shop. On the shop s 25th anniversary, they sold all donuts for 50% off. So, this is the beginning of the story, so late August early September I meet a girl named Makenna Gardner and we had become best friends, so you know that one question ever two friends have to know about each other, their crush well instead of her telling me who it was she described him {not only making it harder because I had to look for him} but since I ve learned more for back then, I was going by my standards at the time so of cores I had a chance of picking the wrong guy. {It was my beauty type} But anyway let s get back on track, a couple of days later I was telling one of my friends that, that guy {I... • 7. Eiffel Tower The Eiffel Tower is a puddle iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Marsin Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global cultural icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World s Fair. The tower stands 324 metres tall, about the same height as an 81 storey building. During its construction, the Eiffel Towersurpassed theWashington Monument to assume the title of the tallest man made structure in the world, a title it held for 41 years, until the Chrysler Building in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The tower was much criticized by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore. Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris. The pig iron structure of the Eiffel Tower weighs 7,300 tones, while the entire structure, including non metal components, is approximately 10,000 tones. As a demonstration of the economy of design, if the 7,300 tones of the metal structure were melted down it would fill the 125 metre square base to a depth of only 6 cm, assuming the density of the metal to be 7.8 tones per cubic meter. Depending on the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to 18 cm because of thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun. Maintenance of the tower includes applying 50 to 60 tones of paint every seven years to protect it from rust. The height of the Eiffel Tower varies by 15 cm due to temperature. In order to maintain a uniform appearance to an observer on the ground, three separate colors of paint are used on the tower, with the darkest on the bottom and the lightest at the top. On occasion the color of the paint is changed; the tower is currently painted a shade of bronze. On the first floor there are interactive consoles hosting a poll for the color to use for a future session of painting. • 8. Explain What Is Meant By St. Augustine Of Hippo Questions about sin have been the focus of much theological conversation and discussion for the reason that how one answers them strongly influences the rest of Christian doctrine. Augustine of Hippo is regarded as one of the most important and well known theologians and philosophers in the history of the Christian religion. His writings influenced the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. Augustine s faith development recorded in treatises, sermons, and letters highlights the theological landscape of the time and one man s journey to Christianity. Augustine developed his own approach to philosophy and theology, accommodating a variety of methods and perspectives through traditions and history. St. Augustine of Hippo... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both Pegasus and Augustine based their teachings off the writings of Paul, to the point that Augustine discovered what he saw as the essence of Christian faith by reading Romans. The basis of Augustine s Doctrine of Original Sin stemmed from the thought that original sin was transmitted from generation to generation through sexual intercourse. The theology of original sin that Augustine articulated in 397 is reflected clearly and repeatedly in Augustine s most famous writing, his Confessions, which he began to write at the same time, shortly after he became bishop of Hippo. Augustine understood original sin in that: . . . all men, born according to nature, are born with sin, that is, without the fear of God, without confidence towards God and with concupiscence, and that this original disease or flaw is truly a sin, bringing condemnation and also eternal death to those who are not reborn through baptism and the Holy Spirit (Article II). • 9. Dark and Light Imagery Within the Hobbit The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien is said to be one of the greatest children s novels of all time. The novel, due to its use of such characters as goblins, elves, trolls, giants, and others is in tradition, a fairy tale. The tale centers on a small hobbit by the name of Bilbo Baggins. It follows the journey of a band of dwarves, a wizard named Gandalf, and their robber, Bilbo on their way to retrieving treasure that had long been taken away from them. The hobbittraveled all over Middle Earth, beginning with Bilbo s tiny hobbit hole in the ground, to Mirkwood forest, to finally reaching the Mountain in which the dragon Smaug lives. Tolkien uses a large amount of imagery in his writing which can been seen through settings in The Hobbit. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when Bilbo is surrounded by darkness in Mirkwood he calls it a patch of midnight that had never been cleared away (Tolkien 171). To be surrounded by total and complete darkness is alarming. Bilbo is frightened and sits down to rest after frantically searching for the dwarves. This example of imagery also helps empathize the cryptic nature of Mirkwood forest. Tolkien uses a larger amount of dark imager in The Hobbit then he does light. This is because the narrator concentrates chiefly on Bilbo s feelings about situations and places. Bilbo isn t very happy to be on the adventure and it considerably shows in his descriptions of people and places. Throughout the better part of the tale, he mentions his warm, hobbit hole in the ground and wishes to be back there rather then journeying to Smaug s mountain. Bilbo was in situations in which he had to fend for himself. When Gandalf, Bilbo, and the dwarves were kidnapped by the goblins, Bilbo escaped and had to survive in the Mountains by himself. He had had no companions and it had been pitch black in the tunnels. He was also in many situations in which he had to fend of his life, as well as the lives of the thirteen dwarves. The last role that imagery plays in The Hobbit is to foreshadow events. When Bilbo was deep in the caves of Moria, it is complete and total darkness. • 10. Descriptive Essay About My Sisters I was five years old when I realized that my sister and I were very similar. There were physical similarities that had my sister and I could be mistaken for twins, but we often acted very different. I could not fathom at the time how my sister and I could in any way be similar, due to the differences in our personalities. Sure, we looked alike, blondhair, and blue eyes like our dad. We were tall and both active. We resembled each other, certainly, but to our eyes we couldn t be more different. My sister enjoyed teasing me and being annoying, working me into a rage, while I enjoyed being silent and reading. She enjoyed playing outside, while inside was where I felt I belonged. She was part of the popular group, and I enjoyed the company of plebeians. These were some of the things different between us that I remember of that time. But it wasn t some relative physical similarities that convinced me that we were similar, it wasn t a family diner. It was a meeting at the airport when we were waiting for our grandfather when a complete stranger walked up to us and told us what cute twins you are . It was a stranger s comment, what cute twins you are that made me look at more than our similarities. The stranger s comments made the five year old Anna realize that there was so much between us. It was not just the color of our hair which was blond, or our deep blue eyes. It was not just that we were always tall for our age, and still are (my sister is 6 feet tall and I am 5 9 ). What convinced me that we were so very similar and that the stranger at the airport might be onto something was some of the things we would say and do in our country home in Missouri. We would speak double, each saying the same thing at the same moment. This happened many times, and often we would finish each other s sentences. We knew each other s jokes and could finish the punchline perfectly as well as one person could. We had the same sense of humor, laughing to ourselves at a reference or a bit of wordplay doubly said between us amidst giggles to the same joke, or how we d use the same gestures to express ourselves when we spoke, or how we had the same taste in music. The African patriarchy described in Tsitsi Dangarembga s acclaimed novel, Nervous Conditions, promotes feminist theory through the portrayal of marginalized women in Zimbabwe. Regardless of class or social prowess, women were not permitted the same liberties and regarded with the same respect as their male counterparts. Women found themselves relegated to the positions of household servants, and excluded from the labor markets by the societies males. (Mbatha 23) Female characters of the novel consistently struggle with nervous conditions around males, stemming from years of oppression under the Shona power system. Throughout her novel, Nervous Conditions, Dangarembga exemplifies the various forms of oppression faced by Shona women as well as methods they utilized to resist the oppressive male patriarchy. Prior to her brother s death, Tambu s educational aspirations were secondary to her role in the household. Nhamo s birthright as the family s first born male exemplifies the injustice faced by Tambu from a young age. This disparity is further exemplified as Tambu states the needs and sensibilities of the women in my family were not considered a priority or even legitimate. (Dangaremba 12). Her aspirations to be properly educated are viewed as an unnecessary expense in regard to women s roles in Shona culture. Jerimiah s ridicule of this proposition represents the core ideals of ... Environmental Hormone Mimics: Their Effects on Public Health and the Environment Cassandra Kaur Sheanh California State University, Fresno Abstract This paper explores three published articles that reflect the findings from studies conducted to examine the relationships between environmental hormone mimics (endocrine disruptors) and their effect on the human body. This paper specifically discusses three key environmental hormone mimics: bisphenol A, dioxins, and pesticides. Each of the three studies links the chosen environmental hormone mimic to abnormalities caused by exposure to the chemicals. Bisphenol A is linked directly to altering estrogen levels in women. The consequences are carried onto the child if the carrying mother ingests BPA while pregnant. Dioxins are extremely harmful and cannot be disposed of easily despite the amount of land, money, and clean up efforts that are taken. Pesticides simply from working in fields or by eating fruits and vegetables are very harmful in men. A male s reproductive system is directly impaired as sperm counts drop dramatically and abnormalities effecting sperm size and shape occur. This research will aid to identify how different ambient temperature will affect the mice s metabolic rate. Previous research suggest that thermo neutral zone is the range which endotherm conduct metabolic with least stress. However to understand the exact relationship between the change in ambient temperatureon endothermic metabolic rate, metabolic system measurement would be carried out to measure the ambient temperature and oxygen percentage. The hypothesis was that as the mices experiences ambient temperature outside of their thermal neutral zone, then they will intake more oxygen because more metabolic activities need to take place... One thing that s important to understand in order to measure the metabolic rate is the mouse should not be growing, pregnant, eating, nor very active during this process. This is because the growing, pregnant, eating and being active requires excessive amount of metabolic activities. On experiment day, set up the metabolic measurement setup as shown in Figure 1. • 36. Women In Sonnet 130 And The Twelfth Night Due to this patriarchal society prevalent in Elizabethan literature, women were often seen as dangerous. While the Twelfth Night is more obvious, Sonnet 130 is more subtle about the dangerous woman. By describing his mistress as defying all of society s beauty standards, the speaker s mistress is leading to the downfall of male control. Historically, women have gone to great lengths to meet a beauty standard which men helped create and enforce since they have to meet male standards in order to find a partner. Due to this, the speaker in Sonnet 130 is describing his mistress as breaking out of the standard which many men interpret as heresy since she is not putting forth an effort to conform to what men say is beautiful. Since she is unique, the speaker loves her for that and this idea that men can love someone for not conforming is something that would have been frowned upon in the late 1500 s to early 1600 s. Likewise, the Twelfth Nightuses Viola to warn about the dangers of women. Since Viola was impersonating a man, she deceived everyone in Illyria and from there, she used her position to manipulate people like Olivia and Orsino into doing what she wanted. Men would commonly interpret Viola as a dangerous woman because of that and also because she was stubborn and individualistic. These traits were not commonly accepted among women in the 15 1600 s though they became more prevalent during the enlightenment when women were gaining political power. Viola was created to ... Throughout the Virgin and Child with Four Angels, David employs the use of color to emphasize the miraculous nature of the religious subject matter. From the ornate jewels of the crown to the ruby red color of Mary s gown to the amethyst purple sash of the angel in the upper right, the application of rich jewel tones induces a sense of royal holiness to figures. • 43. Karl Marx on the German Ideology Karl Marx on the German Ideology: Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels collaborated to produce The German Ideology, which was one of the classic texts generated by the two. Even though The German Ideology stands our as one of the major texts produced by the two, it was never published during Marx s lifetime. This was a clear expression of the theory of history by Marx and its associated materialist metaphysics. One of the main reasons this text is a classic text by these philosophers is the fact that it introduces students to the basic tenets of the philosopher s approach. Notably, Karl Marxproduced The German Ideology in 1846 as a critique of George Friedrich Hegel and his followers in Germany. The philosophers sought to differentiate their concept of socialism from existing ones and exhibit how socialism emerges ordinarily from the social conflicts embedded in capitalism. Background to the Introduction of The German Ideology: The introduction of The German Ideology can be attributed to the intellectual influences Karl Marx received from the philosophy of George Friedrich Hegel ( Karl Marx , par, 2). Hegel s philosophical concept was based on the idea of the dialectic, which was initially used to describe the procedure of logical argumentation and refutation. While earlier philosophers had treated this signature concept as a process of generating accurate ideas, Hegel argued that these ideas develop based on a constant procedure of disagreement and resolution.
