Diary Of Admiral Richard Byrd Analysis
A person s determination to survive all takes place within the mind. In the Diary of Admiral
Richard Byrd, it dives into the mental battle between himself and his alienation from the rest of the
world during his exertion in Antarctica while living with mere supplies. The central idea explores
how Byrd battles to surmount his melancholy anxieties while trying to keep his sanity through his
point of view. The point of view seen by Byrd is rough and shows the deep characterof his struggle
with his mental state while living solely in Antarctica. It shows his emotions and feelings throughout
the text and allows the reader to understand the complexity of this jaunt as he goes through different
trials of anger and misery which weaken his mental

The Changing Lives Documentary Analysis
No treatment plan is the same for every person and every recovery is different as well for
everyone. The changing lives is a transformational documentary about the lives of a few people on
how they got out of addiction. It shows the process through their very compelling group therapy.
But most importantly, what really caught me was the program for the women, that helped them
with treatment when they were at the verge of losing their children.
Body
The group therapy was very compelling to me. I really saw that they were helping one another to
get to the root of each other s problems, digging deep and peeling at the source. Some were very
uncomfortable at first but once they saw that they had a lot of similarities with others, they slowly
started opening up. The therapist was also going deep, but it was for a cause. It was to help them
heal and move on with their lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These women were mostly from abusive homes, or addicts, because of these circumstances. The
program helps these women through treatment and helps their children too by keeping them in a
safe area like daycare while their mothers are in treatment, getting better. This program have been
an inspiration for the many ladies that have walked in it, changing so many lives around. The part
of their change that struck me the most was the day they graduate. This day signifies a milestone
in their lives of how far they ve come in their journey and how successful they been in it. It s the
sign that shows that they have finally made to the finish line and are to keep it

Using Resistant Soybean Cultivar And Crop Rotation
Soybean cyst management tactics include different method from place to place, but all have the
common method of using resistant soybean cultivar and crop rotation and these are found to be
more effective than others.(Niblack et al., 2003, Schmitt et al., 2004). Lotus japonicus is one of
the important model leguminous plant to study the interaction and compatibility of plant
parasitic nematode to cause infection (Lohar Bird, 2003). There are large number of resistant
soybean cultivar to SCN and most of the resistance is derived from the PI88788 and other
PI548402 and PI437654 and grower are also encouraged to do crop rotation along with the use of
these cultivar because of continues planting of the same variety supports the pathogen to changing
the race for overcoming the resistance (Niblack, 2005, Tylka Mullaney, 2002). Only occasional
planting of SCN resistant without any rotation allow to reproduce aggressively in resistant line
because of selection pressure allowing changing the race to overcome resistance (Young, 1998,
Young Hartwig, 1988, Young, 1984) Annual ryegrass, Lolium multiflorum residue is found to be
effective to reduce the H. glycines population by increasing the hatching of eggs of nematode in
the absence of host and depletion of lipid reserved in juvenile and decreases the parasitism of the
pathogen. (Riga et al., 2001, Mock et al., 2009) Rotation between resistant soybean and corn
annually caused the lower in SCN population along with higher

Stopping World Hunger in Cuba
Many wise people have had much to say on the subject of hunger. World hunger quotes can help us
to understand what others think about this heartbreaking subject. Perhaps in understanding, a
workable solution will be found and hunger will be a thing of the past.
The ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest
can kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty
or hunger. Fidel Castro
While often demonized in the US, Fidel Castro did much work to bring the poorest and the worst
off of people the basics of healthy living. One of the injustices he attempted to right was the
starvation of the poorest of the Cuban people. Castro was a Marxist and a socialist. He believed
that each man woman and child was entitled to the things that make life possible.
The world s wealthiest countries can afford to build weaponry that can wipe entire peoples so that
it is like they never lived. They can throw away the poor, the hungry, the completely
disenfranchised people at the very margins of society. Yet such an approach will do nothing to
remove the problems that economic inequality creates. Only addressing the root issue of inequality
will forever solve the problem.
Further, he believed that if one person had to go without food so that another may feast that
something was indeed wrong with the system. He worked to bring food to everyone on his island
and succeeded in doing

Customer service durations in the restaurant are variable, for example, some may take 90 minutes
and some may take 60 minutes.
Opportunities
Increased capacity presents opportunities for increased profits and provides better competitiveness
in the very competitive restaurant industry.
Threats
Adding a second food preparation area may create bottleneck that defeats the purpose of reducing
the customer waiting time.
Utilizing seats in full capacity may make customers feel crowded and compromise the customers
dining experience.
The market may not need the increased capacity.
FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
Assumptions
1.All data will only apply to busy nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), when the restaurant is in
full capacity.
2.During the busiest hours, 6:00 to 10:00 pm, each table would seat 4 separate groups of customers
rather than 3.
3.Information from the London location are used to analyze the Waterloo location, such as an
average of 3 trips to the food preparation area during dinner, average group of 4 to 6 people spent
90 minutes on busy nights.
Analysis between design changes versus capacity changes (see Appendix D)
A combination design of adding a second food preparation area and moving the cooking grill will
have the most impact on the capacity by increasing volume by 19%.
Analysis scenarios of design change associated with capital cost, operating expense, gross profit,
and payback time (see Appendix E).

The Production Code Of Filmmakers In The 1930 s
The production code
Filmmakers especially excelled in the 1930 s because they became obsessed with the idea that they
could start breaking the rules and restrictions that society placed on them. They started to explore
controversial themes such as obscenity and the criminality of the human psyche (the human soul,
mind or spirit), both conscious, unconscious and in totality. However with this new material, and
the production of films like freaks , came critics. Groups of traditionalists like the Catholic church
were thrown into a sense of moral panic. They insisted that the studios should have a set of
regulations to stick by to avoid any obscenity or controversy being shown to the audience. The
studios agreed to having a list of guidelines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The filmmakers then had to pledge their allegiance to Hayes production code and send all their
productions to William Hayes himself for a stamp of approval which allowed them to put their
work onto the screens. Nonetheless, after they promised to abide by these rules most filmmakers
either ignored the comments and changes they were given by Hayes or snuck in script rewrites
before the production of the film began. This then kick started the pre code era which occured
over the next four years. During this time the most abnormal and somewhat disturbing films were
made in the horror genre exploring major obscenity and in depth depiction of other controversial
material. Filmmakers essentially pushed the boundaries of Hayes production code as far as they
possibly could to get their innovative ideas across to their audiences. The people who had been
promised censorship on such material were not impressed. Especially the Catholic church who felt
threatened by anyone who didn t look, speak or believe like them. Then, in 1933 they formed the
Legion of decency which boycotted against any movies which promoted objectionable content.
From then on, any film and motion picture without Hayes seal of approval would have to

Summary Of The Poisonwood Bible
Barbara Kingsolver s, The Poisonwood Bible, is a story about the lives of the Price Family
women and how a year of missionary work while living in the Congo forever changed their lives.
A very important aspect of the plot in The Poisonwood Bible is that the husband of the Price
family, Nathan, is the entire reason for the story. His unyielding desire to become a missionary
and carry out what he believed to be God s work is what led to the families living in the Congo
and destroying the bonds the Prices had with each other. Throughout the story Nathan Price is
presented as an arrogant southern Baptist preacher with a twisted sense of his place in the
world. Having no regard for women as anything but housewives with little intelligence, he is
depicted as an abusive husband and father. Nathan Price is described as being a changed man
from his younger days. Fighting in WWII had changed him for life. In Contrast to this there is
Brother Fowles, a foil to Nathan Price, who is a missionary that lived in Kilanga before the Price
family came. He married an African woman and had stayed behind after warned to leave the
Congo. His interpretations of the Bible and world perspective are more loosely guided than Nathan
Prices. Brother Fowles is overall more liked than Nathan Price throughout the story.... Show more

Nathan Price believes that it is his duty to move his family to the Congo and complete God s
plan for him as a missionary to help the people find salvation. This idea doesn t seem entirely out
of place after we see Brother Fowles illustrate his cultural and moral interpretations of Bible
scripture. However it is not seen until the end of the book, Nathan Price s need to please God
does not lie with the people of the Congo, but for himself. The more Nathan Price tries to relay his
own way to God, the father detached he becomes from the Congolese people and his

What to Do with Howard

What Do We Do with Howard?
Agrigreen, Inc. has done a lot of moving employees from one position to another. Either
someone chose to retire or step down, or they were promoted or transferred. Howard is a guy
who obviously does not see himself the way others may see him. They simply have different
perceptions. Howards seems like a man who tried his very best at one point. His best performance
may not be equal to another persons best performance. He was often teased due to the perception of
having no work ethic. Not identifying that trait within himself, Howard felt out casted around the
work place and seemed to display some acceptance issues. Even when he found someone that he

No one attempted to identify the problem.
Howard Lineberry, Lead Surveyor
Lineberry had some education. The education that he had received was not enough to
demonstrate efficient and effective work at Agrigreen. He did well enough with his first
supervisor to accomplish the mission. Howard seems to be a man who needed direction and
guidance. Without the proper guidance, he was close to lost. As I compared his actions with his
first supervisor to his actions with his second supervisor I realized that there seemed to be a lack
of performance satisfaction. This dissatisfaction occurred as Howard was expected to do the
work on his own. He had little to no guidance in getting the tasks done. Although he perceived
that his first boss was a tough one, Howard got along well with him. He appreciated the guidance
and direction that was given. This was a form of daily training. He made an honest attempt to do
well on his own, but maybe his way of doing things were just different. Howard didn t fit into this
organizational culture. I will not say that Howard did not have any values but I will venture to say
that he did not share the same values and beliefs that many of the other workers shared. The
leaders and other employees were paying attention to work ethic and competence. If Howard is a
worker worth keeping, then behavior modification would help. The use of an

Essay On Manmade And Natural Disaster
Mitigating, and Responding to Manmade and Natural Disasters? The effects of natural and
manmade disasters have become more prevalent, far reaching, and widespread. As a consequence,
preserving the safety, security, and prosperity of all parts of our society is becoming more
challenging. Among various aspects of the U.S emergency managementsystem, communication is
one of the most critical requirements. The word communicate implies conveying thoughts, ideas,
warnings, instructions, orders, command, knowledge and information (mass education and public
awareness), warning of impending threat of disasters, calling various resources and intimation to
authorities and conducting emergency managementin general. Management of any disaster or
emergency event is a very complicated and multi faceted task. One of the most overlooked parts of
any efficient emergency disaster response is the exchange of information between different
sources, emergency managers and those impacted by the event. Lack of experience in the capacity
of an emergency manager can have its downside making the event more stressful and
uncomfortable. The entire emergency management process is made further complex when
hindered by the lack of effective information distribution and gathering. The word communication
has a very remarkable place in all walks of life. A person is an element of the society they live,
nation and the world and cannot live his or hers in isolation. People have to interact with

Examples Of Fur Trapping In The Oregon Country
The Fur Trapping Era in the Oregon Country occurred from the 1800s to the 1840s. Fur trading and
trapping was important because it brought an abundance of wealth to the Oregon Country. The
reasons for this are that it initiated fur trading between white fur trappers and Native Americans, it
caused many people to immigrate to the Oregon Country, bringing their money with them, and it
initiated the establishment of many fur trading forts. However, fur trapping in the modern era is not
considered ethical. For starters, The Fur Trapping Era in the Oregon Country initiated fur trading

MGM Studios, Inc. V. Grokster Case
For many years illegal file sharing and music swapping has been going on. Two very popular
cases are the MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster case and the A M Records, Inc. v. Napster case.
Both cases differ in many ways however they also have similarities. A lot of music and other sorts
of entertainment are being distributed for free all over the internet. What some people do not
think of are the consequences that will be faced if they get caught. Not only is the distributor at
risk for getting caught but those of us that download the software illegally can be charged. Both
Grokster and Napster distributed free software that allowed computer users to share electronic files
through peer to peer networks (Oyez). In the Napster case The recording association asserts Napster
is guilty of contributory copyrightinfringement (The Guardian). According to Slate Grokster is, of

Jealousy In Othello Essay
Jealousy is originally introduced into the story when Iago becomes upset by Othello s successful
convincing of Desdemona to marry him. His hate for him is further increased by Othello s other
accolades like becoming a general in the Venetian army. In the mind of Iago, he is inferior to
Othello in these two areas, which is why he plans to attack him on these points. Iagothen makes
plans to both make Othellolose his prestigious General position in the military (I,iii,395), and cause
mistrust and grief for Othello and Desdemona, eventually causing a rift in their relationship
(I,iii,339). Despite Iago s ideal encapsulation of the villain persona, in which his nature is one of

This, though small, made Othello consider that his wife may in fact be cheating; this was
important because it sowed a seed of doubt in Othello s mind. In a few dialogues between
Othello and Iago, after Iago talked with Cassio, Iago twists his previous conversation in order to
make Othello more and more suspicious. In regards to one such conversation Omer and Verona
said This exchange shows Iago s knack for seeding these negative ideas through implied
communications, (#). After this interaction, Othello is left with a deep desire to know what was
said between the two characters; which leads him to obsess over the thought of his wife s possible
affair.
Once the seeds were sown, the other character who displays this extreme jealousy is the
protagonist himself. Othello s initial jealousy of Cassio and his wife s relationship after Iago
essentially brainwashes him into completely disbelieving his wife and convincing himself that
she was having an affair, ultimately leading to an uncontrollable rage. Once this happened,
Othello began to consult Iago on how to exact revenge on his offenders . Othello convinces
himself that this revenge mut be taken in order to show his wife that he will not be made a fool
of and cheated on. This however is in a way hard to comprehend; due to Othello not embodying
this villainous persona the same way Iago does. The character of Othello is closer to that of an

The Thirteenth Amendment constitutionally ended slavery in 1865. It was the follow through of the
Emancipation Proclamation. The Thirteenth Amendment stated Neither slave nor involuntary
servitude, except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall
exist within the United States (1865). The Fourteenth Amendment became the first civil rights
legislation by granting citizenship rights. The Fourteenth Amendment also defined what a citizen
was in order to make it clear that African American, whether ex slaves or not, were indeed citizens
(Bowles, 2011). At the time, The Fifteenth Amendment was the most controversial and occurred
during General Ulysses S. Grant s term. The Fifteenth Amendment stated the The tight of citizens
of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State
on account for race, color, or previous condition of servitude Bowles, 2011). The Civil War seemed
to end slavery, although the beginning of the reconstruction seemed promising, it would be a
struggle for African Americans.
The Reconstruction Era started with the end of the Civil War. The Civil War Amendments seemed
to lay the law and clearly state that African Americans were free. The country was still divided and
this was clear in the Southern states. The Black Codes fueled the racial hatred and violence in the
Southern states by creating legislation that restricted

With that being said, it exerts pressure to the company as customers will hold a certain degree of
bargaining leverage as they can easily switch to other competitors so as to be able to gain more
profits for themselves. As a result, Nike will have to lower their product price in order to retain
and attract more customers. Hence, the high buyer power poses as a threat for the company.
3.3 Competitive Rivalry
Intense competition from established and new sportswear manufacturers and accelerated changes in
technology and consumer preferences in the industry for sportwear can potentially threaten Nike s
share growth. Nike competes with a significant number of companies, including Adidas, Under
Armour, V.F. Corp., Puma, among others. Vertical retailers that design and manufacture their own
products such as Lululemon Athletica and Uniqlo also plays a part in the competition for Nike.
However, Nike is currently ranked first as the world s most valuable sports brand and its largest
competitor, is Adidas. Nike currently has a Market Cap of $65.87 billion while Adidas has only
$22.76 billion (Forbes, 2014). Although Adidas is presently losing out to Nike in terms of sales
and market share, it intents to implement new strategies so as to grow (Forbes,

Essay On Keeping The Drinking Age
Without a doubt, the United States has been facing serious national problems with underage
drinking. Depending on personal ideologies, some people might not agree that the current
minimum drinking age of twenty one is based on scientific facts rather then ideology of
prohibitionism. For example, since 1975 over seventeen thousand lives have been saved since the
minimum legal drinking age(MLDA) was changed to age twenty one (Balkin 167). This shows that
even over a short amount of time, a higher MLDA helps decrease the risk of teen suicides,
accidents and overdose deaths. However, this widely debated topic has inevitably brought attention
to the plethora of supporting and opposing viewpoints. The minimum legal drinking age of twenty

Simultaneously, accidents involving automobiles without a doubt are devastating. How would one
feel if a loved one was killed in a collision due to an intoxicated driver? Wouldn t the individual
want to do something about it? The death of the Candy Lightner s daughter lead to her development
of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the 1984 National Minimum Drinking Age Act.
This act gave full federal highway funds only to states that set the minimum age to purchase or
consume alcohol at twenty one years (Sanghavi). Once all states raised their MLDA to twenty
one years, drunk driving accidents and deaths decreased. According to the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration, the reduction in traffic fatalities due to the legal drinking age of
twenty one prevented 846 deaths in 1997 and prevented a total of 17,359 deaths since 1975
(Balkin 168). This single statistic shows that automobile accidents have substantially decreased in
response to the authorization of the National Minimum Drinking Age Act. In addition, the average
teenager earns their drivers license at the age of seventeen. This being said, allowing a young
driver with only one years experience (excluding a learners permit) to legally consume alcohol
would surely be an irresponsible decision. Most people know

An Emotional Connection Made with Audi Commercial Essay
Audi, the maker of elite model cars, designed an advertising campaign for the 2013 Super Bowl
that claimed driving an Audi would allow the owner to feel more daring. The advertisement opens
up with a high school senior boy wearing a tux, with his mother pinning his boutonniere to his
jacket. The boy clearly looks unenthused about going to prombecause he does not have a date to
the prom, which his mother attempts to sooth him by saying that there are many people who go to
the prom without dates. His younger sister antagonizes her older brother about not having a date.
As the boy is departing his house, his father throws his son the keys to his AudiS6. The son s face

With this advertisement, the Audi S6 is that object that provides the young man the courage to
kiss the prom queen and park in the principal s parking spot. The car provided the young man the
sense of security to tackle his inner demons and carry out his desires with no regrets. The Audi
instills this sense of sophistication and authority within the young boy and that because he
drove an Audi, the opportunity to be brave clearly outweighed the consequences of his defiance,
as demonstrated at the end of the commercial as he was driving with a black eye after being
beaten up for kissing the prom queen. The Prom commercial has a logical appeal. By creating
the relatable story of an awkward and dateless young man on his prom night, Audi was able to
make an emotional connection with its audience. Their slogan, Bravery. It s what defines us. ,
permits a logical appeal that if an Audi can allow that young boy to be brave, than an Audi can
evoke that sense of bravery within them as well. If bravery defines a person, and an Audi
defines bravery, than the car a person drives defines who that person is. Therefore, the logical
claim that Audi is making is that the car a person drives defines them, and by driving an Audi, a
person can be seen as classy, brave and sophisticated. In conclusion, Audi is trying to make the
argument that owning an Audi is more than owning a car, owning an Audi is an experience that
will instill a sense of class, pride and bravery. This

Jim Davis Research Paper
Garfield, is an American comic character created by Jim Davis in 1978. It tells the story of a cat
named Garfield, his owner Jon and their dog named Odie. I all started in 1970 when the comic
artist Jim Davis decided to take a troll of the comic books in order to introduce a new, interesting
and relatable character and he realized that dogs were doing great but there were no cats at that
time. Davis figured that as he grew up on a farm with 25 cats, he could come up with a strip based
on cats. He then continued to create a strip with a catas its main character and thus created Garfield.
At first, Garfield consisted of four main characters. Davis was inspired from his grandfather for
Garfield s name and personality; who Davis described as a large cantankerous man . Jon Arbuckel
was inspired from a 1950 s coffee commercial, Odie the dog was based a car dealer commercial

Bluffing by Gail Helgason and The Prospector s Trail by...
Relationships can have positive and negative outcomes, one has to overcome and improve and
change to succeed in a positive relationship. As Richard M. Devos once said Money cannot buy
peace of mind. It cannot heal ruptured relationships, or build meaning into a life that has none. In
the short story Bluffing by Gail Helgason money and communication show the importance of a
successful relationship in Liam s and Gabriella s life. On the other hand in the short storyThe
Prospectors Trail by Cathy Jewison money and communication were one of the conflicts
throughout. The thesis of this essay is one should put their own opinions and views before others.
In The short story Bluffing one of the problems is that Jennifer is fairly demanding of her own
wants and needs about starting a new life in Yellowknife which can be shown by when she is in
the tent talking to Norman as she says I give it six weeks to labour day (Jewison 24). This
quotation emphasis Jennifer s own wants as she is very demanding of her wants. The other
problem Norman on the other hand, is not as self conceited as his partner when his own ideas
are to find work. Whereas Jennifer stated she was only going to give it 6 weeks. But Norman still
wants to find a job and give living a life outside the city a try this can be apparent by when he is
talking to Roy around the fire about work as Norman says I want to start a tourist operation
(Jewison 22). This quotation suggests that Norman s views of being out

Analysis Of The Book Supporters Of The Documentary...
Supporters of the Documentary Hypothesis draw on quite a few sources as evidence. Firstly, they
argue that the use of divine names. The Elohist document refers to God as Elohim , while Jahwist
refers to God as Jehovah . It is argued that this inconsistency signals that Genesis 1 and 2 were
written at two different times by two different groups of people. The next argument is the proposed
continuous narration in the J document and E document. The fact that these documents can stand
alone as their own pieces of literature has the potential to negate the idea that the books were
written during the same period, let alone by the same person. The parallel passages also offer a
higher critical argument for the Documentary Hypothesis. The doublet account of Creation traces
Genesis 1 to the Priestly source during or after the Exile and Genesis 2 to the Jahwist source of the
9th century. While the passages seem to be describing the same story, the inconstancies create a
problem for single authorship. The lack of continuity in literary style of the Pentateuch also offers
evidence for the division into documents. Each document seems to carry its own traits and
characteristics that define it from another document. For example, the J document features a much
more active God in the Creation story. The E document, alternatively, has a more transcendent
quality in how it depicts God s role in the Creation. The differences in style offer no support that a
single author was responsible for

Five Themes Of Geography
Over the course of the centuries maps have been used to find locations all over the world. They
have evolved and to become more advanced, thanks to technology. Of course, there are specific
ways to use a map such as basic components. Basic components include a compass rose which
indicates the cardinal directions. Legends is the key where symbols are used to help find a point
on the map, or in other words, lead the way. A scale can range from as far as a continent to as
close as a house. All these components are important while using a map. The most accurate way to
represent the world is through map projection. There are different types of map projections like
Mercator Projectionand Robinson Projection. Mercator Projections is more accurate in shapes and
shows representations bigger than it really is. Robinson Projection on the other hand is more
accurate in both size and shape makes it flatter and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Five Themes of Geography Every place in the world has different ways of using their
location. Where I live, I usually use relative location because everything is linked. For example,
my house is only 3 blocks away from my school. Or in other words it takes me only 10 minutes
to get to school. Another example would be, the closest store is only one street away. Near the
store is the gas station which also makes it close to my house. It is easy to reach any place at any
given time. There are many things that make a place unique, the environment, culture, government
structure, economic activities, and much more. Mauritania is very big and vast, but also empty.
Only a small part of it holds human activity, and the rest is just an empty desert. Many places in
the world ressemble my country especially in Africa. Libya, Egypt, and Sudan, for example, are
all covered in desert and also follow the Islamic religion. Mongolia and Namibia also relate to
Mauritania by having a large amount of land, low population density and poor economic

The Role Of Modern Nationalism And The Middle East
In this essay I will be discussing the role of modern nationalism and how this ideology affected the
transition from colonial rule to independence in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as the
problems that plagued them since 1945, and how these different nations have solved them. I will be
specifically concentrating on the nations of India, Algeria, and Iran. In the wake of World War Two,
the power of Asian nationalism was irrepressible. Many new nations emerged all throughout this
massive continent. Even though these various nations are different in many ways the way in which
they came together hold true. Everywhere Asian nationalists rallied their people against colonialism

Although this was a problem, it was fairly brief. Since India gained their independence, the
country has faced many problems. These problems include ethnic and religious conflict, poverty
and overpopulation. These problems have been attempted to be solved by the Indian
democracy. For example, The prime minister, Indira Gandhi (1966 77 1980 84) embarked on the
green revolution this increased agricultural yields for India s eight hundred million people. This
solved problems of poverty for a short period of time, this is because India has one of the fastest
growing populations in the world. Gandhi realized this and took stringent action by calling for a
state of emergency form 1975 77. During this time period she imposed very repressive birth
control policies, even involuntary sterilization. Over eight million people were sterilized in an
effort to control the overpopulation problem. This was not the end of India s problems though, in
1980 the religious divide proved to be a deadly one. Gandhi took it upon herself to fix the
problem, ordering the army to attack a sacred temple which harbored Sikh extremists. She did this
all because this particular religion wanted more autonomy in the Punjab region of India. A short

Post Puritan Examples Of Jeremiads
1.To understand post Puritan examples of jeremiads, one must understand what a jeremiad is. A
jeremiad is writing that denounces society and articulates about its downfall. Post Puritan
examples of jeremiads can be found throughout history. For example, The General Court in
Massachusetts opened each year since 1634 1690 with an election sermon but, eventually the
sermons turned into jeremiads. Samuel Danforth gave a sermon called A Brief Recognition of
New England s Errand into the Wilderness, which is a famous sermon about how the colony has
deviated from its original purpose . This sermon set standards for many of the next jeremiads. A
more recent example, is David Howard Pitney and his work that Appeals for Justice in America .
Pitney wrote the book The African AmericanJeremiad, which is a filled with Pitney s examinations
of African American leaders. It is filled with the faith of America s perfectibility and hope for
social justice and shows that the African American jeremiad is still vibrant . The jeremiad has
remained a central component of the rhetoric of American public life because there will always
be corruption within society and there will always be someone that will try to mend and shape
civilization. From the Puritan days, where people were fighting to purify the church, to today,
where people are fighting for sexual equality, there will always be uses of jeremiads. Many
churches still think that society is corrupt and express how gay people are

Individuality In The Film Edward Scissor Hands
The film, Edward Scissor Hands, by Tim burton is a modern day fairy tale, which is an
entertaining film. However, the film is a much deeper and far richer film which includes many very
important themes and messages for the audience. Individuality is extremely important when it
comes to the character Edward. Edward and Kim show how much loveis valued in their
neighbourhood. Individual growth plays a part of all characters in the film and how much people
can change in a small amount of time.
Individuality is a really important theme in the film Edward Scissor Hands, and is conveyed
strongly throughout the character of Edward. Unlike most of the characters who live in the
same type of perfect, conventional housing and who all basically follow the same daily routines,
such as, gossiping on the phone. However, Edward is different; he is special and unique. For
example, the housing in the community are all one solid colour and all have the same shape, the
characters are all dressed similarly, and all act the same. When Edward was introduced into the
community he was looked upon as different, but Kim s family knew he was just an individual,
who does not belong to the community. Edwards complexion is very unfamiliar with the
community with his pale skin, rough hair, leather clothing and the scars on his face. Peg tries to
cover Edwards scars on his face with makeup, so he can be looked upon in the community as
normal . Edward was an artist, he had so much skill from cutting dogs

Essay On Flag Desecration
The flag of the United States of America isn t only just a piece of cloth, it is a symbol of hope
and freedom that represents our entire nation and the brave men and women who serve to
protect it. As American citizens, we must protect our flag from any harm. I love my flag, and
the country that it represents, but I know as much as anyone that America isn t perfect. That is
why if I believe that something is wrong or needs to be changed in our country, then I can speak
up, I can protest, I can make my elected officials hear my voice and listen to what I have to say.
It is my constitutional right and a blessing to do so; but using the flag as a torch is a form of
protest that should be illegal, and that I will not tolerate. It is our duty as American citizens to
protect the flag and remind everyone of the freedoms and liberties that it represents. The American

that we have. It gives hope to all of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Adrian Cronauer, a

Meaning Of Tupac Shakur
What does a reputation mean?
As defined by the Cambridge dictionary, reputation is the opinion that people in general have about
someone or something or how much respect and admiration someone or something receives based
on past behavior and character.
Based on this explanation, we realize that each individual is responsible for shaping his own
reputation, either purposely similar to what many politicians do or naturally by his actions, good
ones or bad ones. But an established reputation is not always uniform, meaning it opens a debate
about a certain person, action or event. That s the case of the most famous rapper of all time Tupac

Tupac makes a societal commentary by exploring various types of interpersonal bond. In the
first verse, he recounts numerous conversations with his family again expressing his love and
gratitude for his mother. Although he is ashamed of the burden he senses that he has caused she
greets him with open arms as they recognize nothing matters as long as they remain close. The
next verse approaches relationships between young black men from the ghetto. Tupac
acknowledges that making money to support his family makes up for a large part of his
relationships and ambitions, but he doesn t forget to approach the emotional side. As he feels that
the bond he shares with his friends is a treasure thanks to the emotional support these men provide
for one another. And while it may seem that they are connected by gangster life, what connects
them is their common desire for a better life. The final verse revolves around his relationship with
a female friend. In this verse Tupac speaks greatly about love, but remarkably within the context
of this song, never in a sexual sense as he clearly delineates between sexual attraction and
emotional bonds. This song is at its very heart universal, given that everybody in this world has

Socrates Views On Socrates
To question what no man has questioned before, that is what we praise Socrates for. Socrates
Philosophies grew out of his questioning of the social norm. Using this technique, he seems to
always focus on three main aspects: justice, virtue, and morality. Socrates claims that he has no
wisdom. He states, I know I have no wisdom, great or small. The world has an infinite number of
possibilities and anything he declares understanding, is extremely minimal compared to the
possibilities that exist in the world, there is so much out there that hasn t been exposed yet.
Socrates had many thoughts and ideas over things people never even took time to think about. He
thought differently and always more intensely than others. Socrates says that knowledge is essential
to a person. He concluded that a person s evil and wrong actions come from their ignorance and
their failure to investigate. He was also convinced that no one knowingly does wrong, if a person
does not know what is right, then that person will do wrong, but in the other hand, if the person
knows what is right, they will most definitely do right. He once mentioned that the unexamined life
is not worth living introducing the idea of Universal Definitions, meaning although individual
things may vary and be constructed differently the definitions of how they are similar, are
permanent. The most important thing about Socrates was the fact that he was a teacher. He taught

Differences Between Entrepreneurship And Leadership
Entrepreneurship scholars have highlighted the differences between entrepreneurial leaders and
other leaders in three domains. First, entrepreneurial leaders possess inherent characteristics that
differentiate them from other leaders and motivate and enable them to enter the challenging process
of leading entrepreneurial activities (Chen, 2007; Kuratko, 2007; Fernald et al., 2005; Gupta et al.,
2004; Nicholson, 1998). Entrepreneurial characteristics which are most referred to with respect to
both entrepreneurial leaders and organisations are innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking
(Chen, 2007; Kuratko, 2007; Gupta et al., 2004; Covin Slevin, 1991). Innovativeness is the ability
and tendency of entrepreneurial leaders to think creatively... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, Fernald et al. (2005) argue that most of the tasks and roles of entrepreneurs are
leadership based and Cogliser and Brigham (2004) emphasise that organisational leaders require

current organisations. Specifically, scholars argue that entrepreneurial leaders competencies in
anticipating the future, exploring new opportunities, creating novel ideas and providing an
environment for staff that encourages and supports generating and implementing new ideas help
organisational leaders face problems and achieve their vision (Burns, 2005; Gupta et al., 2004).
Various factors such as personal characteristics, organisational and task performance demands and
environmental factors affect the process of influencing followers that makes leadership as a highly
challenging role for entrepreneurial leaders (Leitch et al., in press; Kempster Cope, 2010;
Kempster, 2009, 2006). Despite these differences, however, there are also key similarities between
entrepreneurial leadership and the terms that construct the concept: entrepreneurship and
leadership. For example, Fernald et al. (2005) argue that most of the tasks and roles of entrepreneurs
are leadership based and Cogliser and Brigham (2004) emphasise that organisational leaders require

Puritans In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, the Puritans are depicted as a sad and uniform group
of people. Hawthorne never explicitly states his negative views towards the Puritans, rather he
chooses to imply these views through his diction, color symbolism, comparing and contrasting, and
his use of irony. In the first chapter, Hawthorne describes the Puritans as, a throng of bearded men,
in sad colored garments and gray, steeple crowned hats, intermixed with women, some wearing
hoods... (55). Hawthorne, using the color gray, portrays the Puritans as depressing and rigid people.
The color gray is often used to represent people with sangfroid and is also associated with
conformity. Gray also has a subduing effect on other colors in the same way that the Puritans try to
control Hester s heterodox behavior. By depicting the men and women as indistinguishable,
Hawthorne further criticizes the Puritan uniformity and attempt to hide human nature. As a

The townspeople revere Dimmesdale for his outward piety but fail to recognize his secret sin.
Hawthorne portrays the Puritans as shallow with only an understanding of outwardly appearances.
Hawthorne also implies that the Puritans are misguided in believing that imperfect people can and
should be perfect. He also uses irony when the Puritans interpret the great red letter in the sky... for
Angel (153). The letter A was previously given to Hester with the putative meaning of adulteress,
now Hawthorne gives the scarlet letter to Dimmesdale. Yet the Puritans are naive to the truth of
Dimmesdale s sin even when shown evidence. From the evidence above, it can be inferred that
Hawthorne abhors the Puritans, he implies this through color symbolism, comparing and
contrasting, and irony through his diction in the text.

Southern Gothicism In William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
A Rose For Emily During the late eighteenth century, gothicism became a popular literary genre.
Years later, William Faulkner introduced the idea of Southern gothicism, which combined elements
of Southern regionalism and gothicism. A fine example of Southern gothicism is Faulkner s short
story, A Rose For Emily. William Faulkner
was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on September
25, 1897, into a Southern family. As a child, Faulkner demonstrated exceptional artistic abilities
in drawing and poetry. However, he was considered an indifferent student compared to his
classmates and peers. In 1915 he dropped out of high school to work for his grandfather and
began submitting art and poetry to the University of Mississippi yearbook. During World War 1,
Faulkner was accepted into the Royal Canadian Air Force to become a pilot, but the war ended
before he could experience any combat. He returned to his hometown to attend the University of
Mississippi where his first poem, L Apres midi d un faune was published in August 1919. Later in
the year, the Mississippian published his short story Landing in Luck.
Faulkner later returned to Oxford, where he worked as a university postmaster for some time. In
1924, he published The Marble Farm and moved to New Orleans a year later to associate with
other writers. He later published his first notable success, Sartoris in 1929. Later that year he
married his high school sweetheart, Estelle Oldham and published what is known as his greatest
work, The Sound and the Fury, followed by A Rose for Emily in 1930. By the mid 1940 s,
William Faulkner s work was well known across the country. In 1959 Faulkner suffered serious
injuries after a horse riding accident and later died of a heart attack on July 6, 1962. Faulkner in
his works used pieces of his own life and his family s history to create stories and plots. By the
time of his death, Faulkner published almost twenty novels and, several volumes of short fiction,
and two volumes of poetry (Tim).
A Rose for Emily was first published on April 30, 1930 in the issue of Forum. It was Faulkner s
first short story that was published in a major magazine. The story starts with the death of Emily
Grierson. It is divided into

A Report On India s The Garden Where Plastic Bags
On a visit to India a while back I came upon a fenced empty field that was practically buried in
flimsy white throwaway plastic bags, the kind you carry your purchases home in from the store.
The locals joked that this was the garden where plastic bags grew.
But when I returned to India last month, I was pleasantly surprised to find that now when you
shop in New Delhi, no store will give you a plastic bag for your purchases. They re illegal there, as
well as in many other Indian cities and states.
That puts India well ahead of most of the world when it comes to this particular ecological issue.
Most everywhere in the U.S., for instance, the throwaway plastic bag remains the ubiquitous way
people haul their stuff home from the local store. But those bags never biodegrade into anything
that nature can use again.
Worse, the vast majority of such single use plastic items never get recycled, and even degradable
plastics may not degrade all that well. On top of that, product life cycle assessments, which are on
the verge of becoming more commonly available and used in the marketplace, do not include either
litter or biodegradability as factors.
The news on some once promising plastic alternatives is not so encouraging. A review published
last month in Environmental Science and Technology by a group of scientists one at the polymer
science division of the Indian Institute of Technology finds that degradable The news on once

Mrs. Salloway And Wide Sargasso Sea Short Story
Of all their seemingly infinite similarities, Clarissa Dalloway of Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway
and Antoinette Cosway of Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea are most similar in their longing for
England. The actual country may be immaterial for what both women truly yearn for is an escape
from their current circumstances. Though several decades separate the lives of the two women, the
forces of oppression they face are much the same. From an outsider s perspective, both Clarissa and
Antoinette appear to enjoy privilege in excess; however, the stream of consciousness narrative of
both novels illuminates the ways in which both women find themselves struggling against
oppression imposed by those closest to them their husbands. Is it true...that England is like a dream?
Because one of my friends who married an Englishman wrote and told me so. She said this place
London is like a cold dark dream sometimes. I want to wake up, (Rhys, ) says Antoinette to her
English husband. For Antoinette, the fathomable world stretches does not stretch beyond the
Caribbean, for she was raised in Jamaica and, during the course of the novel, finds herself on
honeymoon in Dominica. The homeland of her husband is a distant myth, and the canvas onto
which she can paint her most vivid refuge. With a dead and forgotten father, a mother driven to cold
insanity, and the slaves turned servants as her only companions, haunting memories are the islands
prime commodity for Antoinette. Unlike Antoinette,

Essay On Soul Tour
On the 23 of September 2017 around 7:30pm I went and saw Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
preform their Soul 2 Soul tour at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. I have never seen
either of the two preform live in concert only on shows like the Country Music awards until this
date. Having been a fan of country musicand growing up in a family who has always been fans of
this genera of music, I have listened to them both since and have been a huge fan of them each
since. I wanted to see them live not only being a fan of the two artists separately, but also this is
the first time they have toured together in quite a while, if not the first, so it would not only be a
once in a lifetime event but also a chance to see two of my favorite artists... Show more content on

It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers
and progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or
Faith song. My favorite song of the night was Tim s Stay Humble and Kind and Faith s I need
you , which was an encore song. During the encore everyone thought that the show was over, but
Tim came out into the Stadium seat and Faith walked through the floor seats and they sang. The
special effects added even more to the experience. I would go back and see the same exact show
if I had the chance. The crowd was a very respectful crowd. For me it did not seem to be the
stereotypical crowd that you would imagine at a summer concert that this was. People where up
and singing and dancing to the music and where having an overall good time listening to the
music. The crowd ranged from little kids to adults, but everyone was almost in unison with the
music, it s a weird thing to experience. From where my family where sitting we did not see that
much alcohol being drank and even less intoxicated people. With this you could really enjoy the
show without having to deal with annoying drunk fans. If you accidently bump into someone they
where respectful and apologized. You could talk to your family and Tim and Faith would encourage
you to sing along to the music by stopping mid song and you would sing without them.

1. Read Case 9: National Collegiate Athletic Association Ethics and Compliance Program, pp 444
454. Answer the questions at the end of the case.
How does the NCAA encourage collegiate football programs to develop a culture of ethics and
compliance?
Collegiate football is not only a very lucrative and rapidly growing business but it also has a
tremendous impact on our culture, influencing the values of millions of participants and spectators
. Because of this, it is vey important to ensure that the NCAA ensure that all teams not only follow
the rules and interpretations of the game, but also hold themselves to a higher standard with an
established code of ethics. These days, there are concerns about moral ... Show more content on

the coach. It is required for the coaches to create a culture of integrity and direct his/her staff to
uphold NCAA bylaws (NCAA, 2012). If not, the head coach will be held accountable and there are
possible penalties as well to include suspension.
Is it a valid criticism that the NCAA is based more on compliance than ethical values?
The criticism will have to be based on a school by school basis. I specifically know of a situation
where my favorite football team, Notre Dame, had suspended their quarter back for violation of
the honor code by cheating on a test, when it was most critical to keep him playing when Notre
Dame was ranked #1 and going to the National Championships in 2012 who eventually were
beaten for the title by Alabama. Notre Dame has a very strong honor code and strictly adheres to
the code of ethics. Is it because the university is a Catholic school?? The university itself contacted
the NCAA about the academic dishonesty of four of their players which resulted in the suspension
of Everett Golson (QB). The University is committed to thorough resolution of this matter,
consistent with its commitment to academic integrity and adherence to NCAA rules, Father
Jenkins said. In this case, it looks as though Notre Dame is based more on ethical values than that
of the NCAA. Although they NCAA does have rules, regulations and punishments in place, they do
not seem to attack ethical values head on than being more in

Truman s Second Term Neared
When the end of President Harry Truman s second term neared, armed with the knowledge that
Truman declared he had no interest in running again, America s two major parties began looking for
suitable candidates.
At the time of the Republican nomination, the Republican party was deeply divided into two
groups. The conservative wing lead by Senator Robert Taftof Ohio [which was] committed to
abolishing the social welfare state established by the New Deal (Schake), and supported
isolationism. The other group, the Dewey Wing, was lead by New York Governor Thomas
Dewey...[who] commanded Republicans...[to accept] the social welfare state and international
interventionism to prevent the spread of Soviet communism (Schake). The Conservative and the
Dewey Wing were vehement against each other securing the Republican nominee as the
conservatives within the party denounced the Dewey wing as willing to compromise their
values...[and] Dewey s partisans fretted that purists would prevent Republicans from being
electable at the national level (Schake). By then, three candidates [had] put themselves forward:
Taft, California Governor Earl Warren, and former Minnesota Senator Harold Stassen.
Republican operatives on the other hand yearned for someone widely admired but not considered
a politician: General Dwight Eisenhower (Schake), who was a recognized war hero, prominently
for being the general of the Allied Forces during World War II. He was loved by the people and
respected by both

Ella Fitzgerald
Ella Fitzgerald The Gold Collection
The overall illusion of Ella Fitzgerald s The Gold Collection album is a reflection of the trials and
tribulations of love. The collection consists of many tracks that have passionate lyrical value, that
the words instantly relate to those moments in life when you are struggling with devotion for a
significant other. The album is arranged in a precise manner, where those melancholy and
heartrending songs are preceded by upbeat, catchy tunes, that even with the gloomy lyrics, make
you want to return to your childhood, where everything was simple and uncomplicated.
Certain songs, like Angel Heart and Sophisticated Love are prime examples of the slow, and
remorseful songs where Ella s strong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other songs on the album are the perfect contrast to compliment the unhappy songs of love and
tenderness. A tisket A tasket is such a silly song, that although the lyrics are simple and
repetitive, it makes you feel like you are a little five year old child, with no cares in the world.
This song immediately puts a smile on your face, and makes you want to tap and bob your head to
the beat. The last track, Just a Simple Melody is also one of those cheerful songs, that has minimal
lyrical value, but the moderate quick pace, and the extensive play on the syllables of words and
consonants makes you laugh. The rhyming of the verses is an effective quality, that puts the words
right into your mouth, and sooner than you can believe, you re singing along to the lively music.
One difference from the beginning of the album to the end, is that the first half concentrates more
on Ella s voice, while the second half is a larger concentration of arrangements with instrumental
bands. In the beginning, you get to listen more to tunes where there is more emphasis on the
lyrics, and the instrumentalists are only background accompaniment to Ella. However, in the
second portion there is more of a sharing of the role, where the band has solos and Ella mimics the
tune of the band with her singing. The difference provides good variety to the album, where you
get a taste of both worlds with emotional description

The rapid evolution of how we investigate queries or entertain our children is creating vast
demographic gaps as small as three years as technology is seemingly enveloping our way of life,
communication and how we portray ourselves. Throughout time, we, as a human race, have always
tried to transcend our limitations by developing tools to ensure our dominance and advancement to
better our society. However I believe it has come to the point where our rapid development of
Information technologythroughout the years particularly in the last 30, is breeding a socially
incompetent society where crucial life skills such as body language and the art of faceto face
interaction is being lost through the use of Social network sites, texting and... Show more content on

the technological savvy culprit might not realize their action had any nonverbal meaning.

  • 3. The Changing Lives Documentary Analysis No treatment plan is the same for every person and every recovery is different as well for everyone. The changing lives is a transformational documentary about the lives of a few people on how they got out of addiction. It shows the process through their very compelling group therapy. But most importantly, what really caught me was the program for the women, that helped them with treatment when they were at the verge of losing their children. Body The group therapy was very compelling to me. I really saw that they were helping one another to get to the root of each other s problems, digging deep and peeling at the source. Some were very uncomfortable at first but once they saw that they had a lot of similarities with others, they slowly started opening up. The therapist was also going deep, but it was for a cause. It was to help them heal and move on with their lives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These women were mostly from abusive homes, or addicts, because of these circumstances. This day signifies a milestone in their lives of how far they ve come in their journey and how successful they been in it. • 4. Using Resistant Soybean Cultivar And Crop Rotation Soybean cyst management tactics include different method from place to place, but all have the common method of using resistant soybean cultivar and crop rotation and these are found to be more effective than others.(Niblack et al., 2003, Schmitt et al., 2004). Lotus japonicus is one of the important model leguminous plant to study the interaction and compatibility of plant parasitic nematode to cause infection (Lohar Bird, 2003). There are large number of resistant soybean cultivar to SCN and most of the resistance is derived from the PI88788 and other PI548402 and PI437654 and grower are also encouraged to do crop rotation along with the use of these cultivar because of continues planting of the same variety supports the pathogen to changing the race for overcoming the resistance (Niblack, 2005, Tylka Mullaney, 2002). Only occasional planting of SCN resistant without any rotation allow to reproduce aggressively in resistant line because of selection pressure allowing changing the race to overcome resistance (Young, 1998, Young Hartwig, 1988, Young, 1984) Annual ryegrass, Lolium multiflorum residue is found to be effective to reduce the H. glycines population by increasing the hatching of eggs of nematode in the absence of host and depletion of lipid reserved in juvenile and decreases the parasitism of the pathogen. (Riga et al., 2001, Mock et al., 2009) Rotation between resistant soybean and corn annually caused the lower in SCN population along with higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Stopping World Hunger in Cuba Many wise people have had much to say on the subject of hunger. World hunger quotes can help us to understand what others think about this heartbreaking subject. Perhaps in understanding, a workable solution will be found and hunger will be a thing of the past. The ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest can kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty or hunger. Fidel Castro While often demonized in the US, Fidel Castro did much work to bring the poorest and the worst off of people the basics of healthy living. One of the injustices he attempted to right was the starvation of the poorest of the Cuban people. Castro was a Marxist and a socialist. He believed that each man woman and child was entitled to the things that make life possible. The world s wealthiest countries can afford to build weaponry that can wipe entire peoples so that it is like they never lived. They can throw away the poor, the hungry, the completely disenfranchised people at the very margins of society. Yet such an approach will do nothing to remove the problems that economic inequality creates. Only addressing the root issue of inequality will forever solve the problem. Further, he believed that if one person had to go without food so that another may feast that something was indeed wrong with the system. He worked to bring food to everyone on his island and succeeded in doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Increased capacity presents opportunities for increased profits and provides better competitiveness in the very competitive restaurant industry. Threats Adding a second food preparation area may create bottleneck that defeats the purpose of reducing the customer waiting time. Utilizing seats in full capacity may make customers feel crowded and compromise the customers dining experience. The market may not need the increased capacity. FINANCIAL ANALYSIS Assumptions 1.All data will only apply to busy nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), when the restaurant is in full capacity. 2.During the busiest hours, 6:00 to 10:00 pm, each table would seat 4 separate groups of customers rather than 3. 3.Information from the London location are used to analyze the Waterloo location, such as an average of 3 trips to the food preparation area during dinner, average group of 4 to 6 people spent 90 minutes on busy nights. Analysis between design changes versus capacity changes (see Appendix D) A combination design of adding a second food preparation area and moving the cooking grill will have the most impact on the capacity by increasing volume by 19%. • 9. The Production Code Of Filmmakers In The 1930 s The production code Filmmakers especially excelled in the 1930 s because they became obsessed with the idea that they could start breaking the rules and restrictions that society placed on them. They started to explore controversial themes such as obscenity and the criminality of the human psyche (the human soul, mind or spirit), both conscious, unconscious and in totality. However with this new material, and the production of films like freaks , came critics. Groups of traditionalists like the Catholic church were thrown into a sense of moral panic. They insisted that the studios should have a set of regulations to stick by to avoid any obscenity or controversy being shown to the audience. The studios agreed to having a list of guidelines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The filmmakers then had to pledge their allegiance to Hayes production code and send all their productions to William Hayes himself for a stamp of approval which allowed them to put their work onto the screens. Nonetheless, after they promised to abide by these rules most filmmakers either ignored the comments and changes they were given by Hayes or snuck in script rewrites before the production of the film began. This then kick started the pre code era which occured over the next four years. During this time the most abnormal and somewhat disturbing films were made in the horror genre exploring major obscenity and in depth depiction of other controversial material. Filmmakers essentially pushed the boundaries of Hayes production code as far as they possibly could to get their innovative ideas across to their audiences. The people who had been promised censorship on such material were not impressed. Especially the Catholic church who felt threatened by anyone who didn t look, speak or believe like them. Then, in 1933 they formed the Legion of decency which boycotted against any movies which promoted objectionable content. • 10. Summary Of The Poisonwood Bible Barbara Kingsolver s, The Poisonwood Bible, is a story about the lives of the Price Family women and how a year of missionary work while living in the Congo forever changed their lives. A very important aspect of the plot in The Poisonwood Bible is that the husband of the Price family, Nathan, is the entire reason for the story. His unyielding desire to become a missionary and carry out what he believed to be God s work is what led to the families living in the Congo and destroying the bonds the Prices had with each other. Throughout the story Nathan Price is presented as an arrogant southern Baptist preacher with a twisted sense of his place in the world. Having no regard for women as anything but housewives with little intelligence, he is depicted as an abusive husband and father. Nathan Price is described as being a changed man from his younger days. Fighting in WWII had changed him for life. In Contrast to this there is Brother Fowles, a foil to Nathan Price, who is a missionary that lived in Kilanga before the Price family came. He married an African woman and had stayed behind after warned to leave the Congo. His interpretations of the Bible and world perspective are more loosely guided than Nathan Prices. Brother Fowles is overall more liked than Nathan Price throughout the story.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nathan Price believes that it is his duty to move his family to the Congo and complete God s plan for him as a missionary to help the people find salvation. However it is not seen until the end of the book, Nathan Price s need to please God does not lie with the people of the Congo, but for himself. Either someone chose to retire or step down, or they were promoted or transferred. Howard is a guy who obviously does not see himself the way others may see him. They simply have different perceptions. Howards seems like a man who tried his very best at one point. His best performance may not be equal to another persons best performance. The education that he had received was not enough to demonstrate efficient and effective work at Agrigreen. He did well enough with his first supervisor to accomplish the mission. Howard seems to be a man who needed direction and guidance. Without the proper guidance, he was close to lost. As I compared his actions with his first supervisor to his actions with his second supervisor I realized that there seemed to be a lack of performance satisfaction. This dissatisfaction occurred as Howard was expected to do the work on his own. He had little to no guidance in getting the tasks done. Although he perceived that his first boss was a tough one, Howard got along well with him. He appreciated the guidance and direction that was given. This was a form of daily training. He made an honest attempt to do well on his own, but maybe his way of doing things were just different. Howard didn t fit into this organizational culture. I will not say that Howard did not have any values but I will venture to say that he did not share the same values and beliefs that many of the other workers shared. The effects of natural and manmade disasters have become more prevalent, far reaching, and widespread. As a consequence, preserving the safety, security, and prosperity of all parts of our society is becoming more challenging. Among various aspects of the U.S emergency managementsystem, communication is one of the most critical requirements. The word communicate implies conveying thoughts, ideas, warnings, instructions, orders, command, knowledge and information (mass education and public awareness), warning of impending threat of disasters, calling various resources and intimation to authorities and conducting emergency managementin general. Management of any disaster or emergency event is a very complicated and multi faceted task. One of the most overlooked parts of any efficient emergency disaster response is the exchange of information between different sources, emergency managers and those impacted by the event. Lack of experience in the capacity of an emergency manager can have its downside making the event more stressful and uncomfortable. The entire emergency management process is made further complex when hindered by the lack of effective information distribution and gathering. Once all states raised their MLDA to twenty one years, drunk driving accidents and deaths decreased. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the reduction in traffic fatalities due to the legal drinking age of twenty one prevented 846 deaths in 1997 and prevented a total of 17,359 deaths since 1975 (Balkin 168). With this advertisement, the Audi S6 is that object that provides the young man the courage to kiss the prom queen and park in the principal s parking spot. The car provided the young man the sense of security to tackle his inner demons and carry out his desires with no regrets. The Audi instills this sense of sophistication and authority within the young boy and that because he drove an Audi, the opportunity to be brave clearly outweighed the consequences of his defiance, as demonstrated at the end of the commercial as he was driving with a black eye after being beaten up for kissing the prom queen. The Prom commercial has a logical appeal. By creating the relatable story of an awkward and dateless young man on his prom night, Audi was able to make an emotional connection with its audience. Their slogan, Bravery. It s what defines us. , permits a logical appeal that if an Audi can allow that young boy to be brave, than an Audi can evoke that sense of bravery within them as well. If bravery defines a person, and an Audi defines bravery, than the car a person drives defines who that person is. Therefore, the logical claim that Audi is making is that the car a person drives defines them, and by driving an Audi, a person can be seen as classy, brave and sophisticated. In conclusion, Audi is trying to make the argument that owning an Audi is more than owning a car, owning an Audi is an experience that will instill a sense of class, pride and bravery. This ... I all started in 1970 when the comic artist Jim Davis decided to take a troll of the comic books in order to introduce a new, interesting and relatable character and he realized that dogs were doing great but there were no cats at that time. Davis figured that as he grew up on a farm with 25 cats, he could come up with a strip based on cats. He then continued to create a strip with a catas its main character and thus created Garfield. At first, Garfield consisted of four main characters. Davis was inspired from his grandfather for Garfield s name and personality; who Davis described as a large cantankerous man . It cannot heal ruptured relationships, or build meaning into a life that has none. In the short story Bluffing by Gail Helgason money and communication show the importance of a successful relationship in Liam s and Gabriella s life. On the other hand in the short storyThe Prospectors Trail by Cathy Jewison money and communication were one of the conflicts throughout. The thesis of this essay is one should put their own opinions and views before others. In The short story Bluffing one of the problems is that Jennifer is fairly demanding of her own wants and needs about starting a new life in Yellowknife which can be shown by when she is in the tent talking to Norman as she says I give it six weeks to labour day (Jewison 24). This quotation emphasis Jennifer s own wants as she is very demanding of her wants. The other problem Norman on the other hand, is not as self conceited as his partner when his own ideas are to find work. Whereas Jennifer stated she was only going to give it 6 weeks. But Norman still wants to find a job and give living a life outside the city a try this can be apparent by when he is talking to Roy around the fire about work as Norman says I want to start a tourist operation (Jewison 22). • 30. Analysis Of The Book Supporters Of The Documentary... Supporters of the Documentary Hypothesis draw on quite a few sources as evidence. Firstly, they argue that the use of divine names. The Elohist document refers to God as Elohim , while Jahwist refers to God as Jehovah . It is argued that this inconsistency signals that Genesis 1 and 2 were written at two different times by two different groups of people. The next argument is the proposed continuous narration in the J document and E document. The fact that these documents can stand alone as their own pieces of literature has the potential to negate the idea that the books were written during the same period, let alone by the same person. The parallel passages also offer a higher critical argument for the Documentary Hypothesis. The doublet account of Creation traces Genesis 1 to the Priestly source during or after the Exile and Genesis 2 to the Jahwist source of the 9th century. While the passages seem to be describing the same story, the inconstancies create a problem for single authorship. The lack of continuity in literary style of the Pentateuch also offers evidence for the division into documents. Each document seems to carry its own traits and characteristics that define it from another document. For example, the J document features a much more active God in the Creation story. The E document, alternatively, has a more transcendent quality in how it depicts God s role in the Creation. The differences in style offer no support that a single author was responsible for ... A jeremiad is writing that denounces society and articulates about its downfall. Post Puritan examples of jeremiads can be found throughout history. For example, The General Court in Massachusetts opened each year since 1634 1690 with an election sermon but, eventually the sermons turned into jeremiads. Samuel Danforth gave a sermon called A Brief Recognition of New England s Errand into the Wilderness, which is a famous sermon about how the colony has deviated from its original purpose . This sermon set standards for many of the next jeremiads. A more recent example, is David Howard Pitney and his work that Appeals for Justice in America . Pitney wrote the book The African AmericanJeremiad, which is a filled with Pitney s examinations of African American leaders. It is filled with the faith of America s perfectibility and hope for social justice and shows that the African American jeremiad is still vibrant . The jeremiad has remained a central component of the rhetoric of American public life because there will always be corruption within society and there will always be someone that will try to mend and shape civilization. That is why if I believe that something is wrong or needs to be changed in our country, then I can speak up, I can protest, I can make my elected officials hear my voice and listen to what I have to say. It is my constitutional right and a blessing to do so; but using the flag as a torch is a form of protest that should be illegal, and that I will not tolerate. The world has an infinite number of possibilities and anything he declares understanding, is extremely minimal compared to the possibilities that exist in the world, there is so much out there that hasn t been exposed yet. First, entrepreneurial leaders possess inherent characteristics that differentiate them from other leaders and motivate and enable them to enter the challenging process of leading entrepreneurial activities (Chen, 2007; Kuratko, 2007; Fernald et al., 2005; Gupta et al., 2004; Nicholson, 1998). Specifically, scholars argue that entrepreneurial leaders competencies in anticipating the future, exploring new opportunities, creating novel ideas and providing an environment for staff that encourages and supports generating and implementing new ideas help organisational leaders face problems and achieve their vision (Burns, 2005; Gupta et al., 2004). Various factors such as personal characteristics, organisational and task performance demands and environmental factors affect the process of influencing followers that makes leadership as a highly challenging role for entrepreneurial leaders (Leitch et al., in press; Kempster Cope, 2010; Kempster, 2009, 2006). Despite these differences, however, there are also key similarities between entrepreneurial leadership and the terms that construct the concept: entrepreneurship and leadership. • 42. Puritans In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter In Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter, the Puritans are depicted as a sad and uniform group of people. Hawthorne never explicitly states his negative views towards the Puritans, rather he chooses to imply these views through his diction, color symbolism, comparing and contrasting, and his use of irony. In the first chapter, Hawthorne describes the Puritans as, a throng of bearded men, in sad colored garments and gray, steeple crowned hats, intermixed with women, some wearing hoods... (55). Hawthorne, using the color gray, portrays the Puritans as depressing and rigid people. The color gray is often used to represent people with sangfroid and is also associated with conformity. Gray also has a subduing effect on other colors in the same way that the Puritans try to control Hester s heterodox behavior. By depicting the men and women as indistinguishable, Hawthorne further criticizes the Puritan uniformity and attempt to hide human nature. As a Romantic, Hawthorne believed that nature was superior to society and in nature nothing is uniform, so when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The townspeople revere Dimmesdale for his outward piety but fail to recognize his secret sin. Hawthorne portrays the Puritans as shallow with only an understanding of outwardly appearances. Hawthorne also implies that the Puritans are misguided in believing that imperfect people can and should be perfect. He also uses irony when the Puritans interpret the great red letter in the sky... for Angel (153). The letter A was previously given to Hester with the putative meaning of adulteress, now Hawthorne gives the scarlet letter to Dimmesdale. Yet the Puritans are naive to the truth of Dimmesdale s sin even when shown evidence. From the evidence above, it can be inferred that Hawthorne abhors the Puritans, he implies this through color symbolism, comparing and contrasting, and irony through his diction in the text. ... • 43. Southern Gothicism In William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily A Rose For Emily During the late eighteenth century, gothicism became a popular literary genre. Years later, William Faulkner introduced the idea of Southern gothicism, which combined elements of Southern regionalism and gothicism. A fine example of Southern gothicism is Faulkner s short story, A Rose For Emily. William Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on September 25, 1897, into a Southern family. As a child, Faulkner demonstrated exceptional artistic abilities in drawing and poetry. However, he was considered an indifferent student compared to his classmates and peers. In 1915 he dropped out of high school to work for his grandfather and began submitting art and poetry to the University of Mississippi yearbook. During World War 1, Faulkner was accepted into the Royal Canadian Air Force to become a pilot, but the war ended before he could experience any combat. He returned to his hometown to attend the University of Mississippi where his first poem, L Apres midi d un faune was published in August 1919. Later in the year, the Mississippian published his short story Landing in Luck. Faulkner later returned to Oxford, where he worked as a university postmaster for some time. In 1924, he published The Marble Farm and moved to New Orleans a year later to associate with other writers. He later published his first notable success, Sartoris in 1929. Later that year he married his high school sweetheart, Estelle Oldham and published what is known as his greatest work, The Sound and the Fury, followed by A Rose for Emily in 1930. By the mid 1940 s, William Faulkner s work was well known across the country. In 1959 Faulkner suffered serious injuries after a horse riding accident and later died of a heart attack on July 6, 1962. Faulkner in his works used pieces of his own life and his family s history to create stories and plots. • 44. A Report On India s The Garden Where Plastic Bags On a visit to India a while back I came upon a fenced empty field that was practically buried in flimsy white throwaway plastic bags, the kind you carry your purchases home in from the store. The locals joked that this was the garden where plastic bags grew. But when I returned to India last month, I was pleasantly surprised to find that now when you shop in New Delhi, no store will give you a plastic bag for your purchases. They re illegal there, as well as in many other Indian cities and states. That puts India well ahead of most of the world when it comes to this particular ecological issue. Most everywhere in the U.S., for instance, the throwaway plastic bag remains the ubiquitous way people haul their stuff home from the local store. But those bags never biodegrade into anything that nature can use again. Worse, the vast majority of such single use plastic items never get recycled, and even degradable plastics may not degrade all that well. On top of that, product life cycle assessments, which are on the verge of becoming more commonly available and used in the marketplace, do not include either litter or biodegradability as factors. The news on some once promising plastic alternatives is not so encouraging. A review published last month in Environmental Science and Technology by a group of scientists one at the polymer science division of the Indian Institute of Technology finds that degradable The news on once promising plastic alternatives is not so ... • 45. Mrs. Salloway And Wide Sargasso Sea Short Story Of all their seemingly infinite similarities, Clarissa Dalloway of Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway and Antoinette Cosway of Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea are most similar in their longing for England. The actual country may be immaterial for what both women truly yearn for is an escape from their current circumstances. Though several decades separate the lives of the two women, the forces of oppression they face are much the same. From an outsider s perspective, both Clarissa and Antoinette appear to enjoy privilege in excess; however, the stream of consciousness narrative of both novels illuminates the ways in which both women find themselves struggling against oppression imposed by those closest to them their husbands. Is it true...that England is like a dream? Because one of my friends who married an Englishman wrote and told me so. She said this place London is like a cold dark dream sometimes. I want to wake up, (Rhys, ) says Antoinette to her English husband. For Antoinette, the fathomable world stretches does not stretch beyond the Caribbean, for she was raised in Jamaica and, during the course of the novel, finds herself on honeymoon in Dominica. The homeland of her husband is a distant myth, and the canvas onto which she can paint her most vivid refuge. With a dead and forgotten father, a mother driven to cold insanity, and the slaves turned servants as her only companions, haunting memories are the islands prime commodity for Antoinette. I have never seen either of the two preform live in concert only on shows like the Country Music awards until this date. Having been a fan of country musicand growing up in a family who has always been fans of this genera of music, I have listened to them both since and have been a huge fan of them each since. I wanted to see them live not only being a fan of the two artists separately, but also this is the first time they have toured together in quite a while, if not the first, so it would not only be a once in a lifetime event but also a chance to see two of my favorite artists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seemed at the start of the show they sang songs that where at the start of their music careers and progressed through their career. They sang each song as a duet no matter if it was a Tim or Faith song. My favorite song of the night was Tim s Stay Humble and Kind and Faith s I need you , which was an encore song. During the encore everyone thought that the show was over, but Tim came out into the Stadium seat and Faith walked through the floor seats and they sang. The special effects added even more to the experience. I would go back and see the same exact show if I had the chance. The crowd was a very respectful crowd. For me it did not seem to be the stereotypical crowd that you would imagine at a summer concert that this was. People where up and singing and dancing to the music and where having an overall good time listening to the music. The crowd ranged from little kids to adults, but everyone was almost in unison with the music, it s a weird thing to experience. From where my family where sitting we did not see that much alcohol being drank and even less intoxicated people. With this you could really enjoy the show without having to deal with annoying drunk fans. If you accidently bump into someone they where respectful and apologized. You could talk to your family and Tim and Faith would encourage you to sing along to the music by stopping mid song and you would sing without them. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Collegiate football is not only a very lucrative and rapidly growing business but it also has a tremendous impact on our culture, influencing the values of millions of participants and spectators . It is required for the coaches to create a culture of integrity and direct his/her staff to uphold NCAA bylaws (NCAA, 2012). If not, the head coach will be held accountable and there are possible penalties as well to include suspension. Is it a valid criticism that the NCAA is based more on compliance than ethical values? The criticism will have to be based on a school by school basis. I specifically know of a situation where my favorite football team, Notre Dame, had suspended their quarter back for violation of the honor code by cheating on a test, when it was most critical to keep him playing when Notre Dame was ranked #1 and going to the National Championships in 2012 who eventually were beaten for the title by Alabama. Notre Dame has a very strong honor code and strictly adheres to the code of ethics. Is it because the university is a Catholic school?? The university itself contacted the NCAA about the academic dishonesty of four of their players which resulted in the suspension of Everett Golson (QB). The University is committed to thorough resolution of this matter, consistent with its commitment to academic integrity and adherence to NCAA rules, Father Jenkins said. In this case, it looks as though Notre Dame is based more on ethical values than that of the NCAA. Although they NCAA does have rules, regulations and punishments in place, they do not seem to attack ethical values head on than being more in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The collection consists of many tracks that have passionate lyrical value, that the words instantly relate to those moments in life when you are struggling with devotion for a significant other. The album is arranged in a precise manner, where those melancholy and heartrending songs are preceded by upbeat, catchy tunes, that even with the gloomy lyrics, make you want to return to your childhood, where everything was simple and uncomplicated. A tisket A tasket is such a silly song, that although the lyrics are simple and repetitive, it makes you feel like you are a little five year old child, with no cares in the world. This song immediately puts a smile on your face, and makes you want to tap and bob your head to the beat. The last track, Just a Simple Melody is also one of those cheerful songs, that has minimal lyrical value, but the moderate quick pace, and the extensive play on the syllables of words and consonants makes you laugh. The rhyming of the verses is an effective quality, that puts the words right into your mouth, and sooner than you can believe, you re singing along to the lively music. One difference from the beginning of the album to the end, is that the first half concentrates more on Ella s voice, while the second half is a larger concentration of arrangements with instrumental bands. In the beginning, you get to listen more to tunes where there is more emphasis on the lyrics, and the instrumentalists are only background accompaniment to Ella. However, in the second portion there is more of a sharing of the role, where the band has solos and Ella mimics the tune of the band with her singing. The difference provides good variety to the album, where you get a taste of both worlds with emotional description ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
