Chinese Culture Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of Chinese culture presents a unique set of challenges that requires
a delicate balance of research, cultural sensitivity, and a nuanced understanding of the subject
matter. First and foremost, delving into a rich and diverse culture like China's demands an
extensive exploration of its history, traditions, customs, art, philosophy, and contemporary
aspects. Navigating through the vast array of cultural elements, from ancient practices to modern
influences, can be a daunting task.
Moreover, the cultural landscape of China is multifaceted, with regional variations, ethnic
diversity, and the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity. This complexity adds an
extra layer of intricacy to the essay, necessitating careful consideration of diverse perspectives
and avoiding oversimplifications.
Language can also be a hurdle. The vastness of the Chinese language and its various dialects,
coupled with the challenge of translating cultural nuances accurately, adds another dimension to
the difficulty of the task. Striking the right balance between providing sufficient depth and
avoiding overwhelming detail is a constant challenge.
Cultural sensitivity is crucial, as misinterpretations or misrepresentations can lead to
misunderstandings. Being aware of potential biases and stereotypes is essential in presenting a
fair and accurate portrayal of Chinese culture.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be immensely rewarding. It
provides an opportunity to appreciate the richness of Chinese heritage, explore the
interconnectedness of various cultural elements, and gain insights into a society that has a
profound impact on the global stage.
In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on Chinese culture is undoubtedly demanding,
the journey is enlightening. It requires dedication, thorough research, and a commitment to
cultural understanding. Embracing the complexity of the topic can lead to a well-rounded
exploration that goes beyond surface-level observations. As you embark on this writing
endeavor, remember that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and a deeper
appreciation of the subject matter.

Virginia Hasn T Always Been For Lovers Chapter Summary
In the first chapter of Phyl Newbeck s book Virginia Hasn t always been for
Lovers: Interracial Marriage Bans and the Case of Richard and Mildred Loving,
Newbeck introduces the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a white male and
colored female who married. Their love was pure and home some. When the two
married Mildred did not realize, it was illegal for people of different races to marry
in Virginia. The Lovings lived in Central Point, Virginia their entire lives until the
state forced them to move out of the state and into Washington D.C, where their
marriagewas legal. The couple could not even travel into Virginia to visit family
without being arrested. Newbeck tells the entire essence of the loving story, from
them meeting, though... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I chose this book because though out the book Newbeck did more than just the case
of Loving v. Virginiabut she also talks about all the laws against biracial
relationships in all states across the country before the case was settle in 1967. I
chose the topic of interactional couples, and the acceptance over time because I
have a personal connection to the subject. As a Caucasian / Native American girl
who is in a relationship with a Caucasian/ Mexican boy. Even before I started this
relationship I have been interested in the interracial couple acceptance, growing up
in today s age, I have never really seen color. Yes, I can physical see if someone is an
African American Race or Chinese but never once has it affect how I see them as a
person. I have always believed that when you fall in love with someone you fall in
love with their personality and smile. Every human s smile is differently and it is
based from what makes that person laugh. Newbeck, the Lovings, and myself all
have one thing in common love is love and it should be allowed no matter the race of

Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Or Mri Is An Invention That
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI is an invention that changed health care
forever. The MRI is the premier medical diagnostic of today. It has improved the lives
of billions of patients around the world, with the ability to diagnose disease and
injury in minutes. There are many interesting assets of the MRI, including the
invention, function, and experience. The invention of Magnetic Resonance Imaging
was a lifelong process. It was one of the greatest medical breakthroughs in the 20th
century, thanks to Dr. Raymond Damadian the genius behind the MRI. Dr. Damadian
started his schooling studying the violin at Juilliard, while there he won the Ford
Foundation Scholarship out of 100,000 applicants at the age of 15. He then went on to

President Reagan awarded the National Medal of Technology to Dr. Damadian and
Dr. Paul Lauterbur jointly for their contributions to the development of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging. A year later in 1989 Dr. Damadian was inducted into the
National Inventors Hall of Fame. He joined men like Thomas Edison, Alexander
Graham Bell and the Wright Brothers. Damadians first MRI machine was named
Indomitable , and it was rightly placed in the Smithsonian in 1989. Dr. Raymond
Damadian was awarded his final award in March of 2004. He was awarded The
Franklin Institute Medal, for his development and commercialization of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging, which transformed the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
(Bergman) The MRI is an extraordinary machine that changed medical imaging
forever, but even more extraordinary is how it functions. Magnetic Resonance
Imaging is used to make a detailed image of the human body in order to diagnose
disease and injury. It uses a very powerful magnet to align the nuclei of atoms in the
body and a variable magnetic field which causes the atoms to produce an image, or
resonate. The human body is made of mostly water. Water molecules have hydrogen
nuclei that align in the magnetic field. The machine applies magnetic field of about
0.2 to 0.3 teslas, which is about a thousand times stronger than a fridge magnet. The

Clique Research Paper
I feel like the clique that I would put myself in is a jock, a jock is given the
stereotype athletic, dumb, and popular. I fit into that group because I am athletic and
am very physically active. The one thing that I feel doesn t put me into that group is
being dumb, most of the time the stereotypical jock wouldn t care about their grades
too much, but for me they are my first priority. If I got put into this cliqueit wouldn t
make me feel very good, although I would be called athletic, I still wouldn t like to
be put in a clique that also represents dumb.
One of the things that made me who I am today is sports, everything that happens on
the court or on the field will determine my reputation for the rest of my life, and how
I will be treated.
Compare And Contrast John Lewis
In March, Uncle Otis saw in John Lewis at a young age that he was different from
the other kids in town. Lewis was always eager to learn, and he showed this
through his yearning to learn. Otis also noticed that Lewis was different by the way
he presented himself through his actions and his appearance. The chickens his
family raised intrigued Lewis as a child, and it was to where he developed a
relationship or bond with the chickens. He treated each chicken equally, which put
him in the mindset that everyone is to be treated equally. Lewis talks about how his
education is what got him engaged with the Civil Rights Movement. John Lewis had
this passion to progress the Civil Rights Movement into a larger movement, and
Uncle Otis realized that

In this assignment the main objective is to design the two way traffic light control and
simulate it on modelsim.
1.3 RESEARCH IDEA AND CONCEPTS
Traffic has been the most challenging problem on roads throughout the world for
many years. The density of road traffic has increased rapidly in the recent years.
Traffic is the major issue for many drivers; it generally results in journey delays as
Latency, wasted time while waiting, increased pressure to reduce performance and
can cause people loss of business especially in emergency situations.
Many schemes have been designed and implemented for relieving traffic as a
primary objective. However, these schemes have a varying effectiveness, and also it
is not always obvious that, it will work best in a given situation.
The appropriate colour space was adopted and the statistical analysis of traffic lights
on the various components of this colour space was carried out. Then the
segmentation threshold was obtained and the colour segmentation was completed
according to the statistics result. The morphology was used to complete the noise
processing after the colour segmentation and the connected region was
Bill Of Rights Dbq
1.In 1789, James Madison wrote the Bill of Rights, which lists specific constraints
on federal control in a set of 10 amendments ratified by the states. Liberty, meaning
freedom from governmental and economic control, was the central factor and of
utmost importance in the eyes of Madison and his fellow founding fathers when
drafting the Bill of Rights. Protecting the peoples respective personal liberties such
as freedom of speech and the right to exercise particular religious beliefs played a
vital role in the creation of these amendments however limits were also placed on the
freedoms granted in order to preserve the nation s wellbeing. These restrictions on the
overall liberty allowed in the United Statesinclude limits on freedom of speech...

The media plays a massive role in the politics of the United States today and truly sets
the agenda and makes an extensive impression on public opinion. Through political
advertising on the Internet and television along with numerous other outlets, the
opinions of citizens on issues such as healthcare, presidency candidates, and many
other concerns can be immensely swayed. Many Americans are not politically
intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought out advertisement
can nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain issue.
Political advertising does not significantly differ from advertising a consumer product
such as Fructis shampoo or Poptarts because both are pushing all the good things
about their product/issue onto you and hoping that you buy into what they are
advertising and take the bait. Also, some advertisements will promote how bad the
opposition is while declaring that their commodity/candidate is more qualified and
superior for numerous reasons. Due to the fact that these political advertisements and
the media manipulate political perspectives, this truly is an insult to the idea of free
elections because as the government through advertising is now shaping Americans
beliefs there are no longer unaltered political views. The people are no longer making
their own decisions but rather having choices placed in front of them. The system of
democracy is substantially degraded when citizens outlook on politics
How Do You Think the Problem of Priestless Parishs
Should...
Parishes are a common practice in the Catholic Church. They are a division of a
diocese which has its own church and members of the clergy. A parish priest is
appointed and entrusted with the spiritual care of his parishioners. In 2008, 49,631
parishes in the world had no resident priest or pastor (CARA services. Frequently
requested Church statistics). Parishes without a priestcan cause great difficulties for
people. The role of a priest within a parish is vital; a priest is someone who is there
for the sick and the dying, a shoulder to cry in times of need and a priest allows
parishioners access to each of the seven sacraments.
In recent times the total number of priests has decreased and the average age of

Their celibacy expresses their complete and total identification with Christ and their
commitment to continuing his mission. Surely this preparation phase is enough time
for a priest to either see the benefit in celibacy or lack there off for them as an
individual.
Celibacy is a big sacrifice for anyone to undertake. Married life too has sacrifices
very different sacrifices; however there is no value in saying one is more of a
sacrifice than another. Those in a marriage have many sacrifices that may go
unrecognized because they are considered normal. For instance, married couples have
a commitment to their partners to be faithful, honest, and dedicated to making the
relationship successful. For those with children, the commitments and responsibilities
are even greater.
There are many cultures around the world that do not expect clergy celibacy (Daly,
2009) including Christian denominations who allow ministers/priests to marry. These
Churches demonstrate how marriage is compatible with the priestly life. These
churches present a great example of how familial responsibilities are compatible with
religious commitments. A study of married Evangelical ministers and Roman
Catholic priests revealed that there were no significant differences in dimensions of
religiosity or commitments to the parish between the celibate and married clergymen
(Swenson, 1998). Both are
North Korea History Essay
The History
Korea, once united for 1300 years was completely restructured in the last one
hundred. In 1910, Japan occupied Korea for 35 years, making it a police state that
oppressed the country religiously, culturally, and politically. A revolt that was led by
Christian and Buddhist leaders resulted in raising up the communist resistance which
gave way to North Korea s future leader Kim Il Sung. In 1945 the country was split
along the 38th parallel, with the United States controlling South Korea, and Kim Il
Sung in the North with the support of the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union created

The juche ideology, a personality cult, is oddly similar to Christian theology. The
people are required to devote themselves to the Ten Principles of Life, which
demands absolute submission to the Great Leader s ideology in both action and
thought. It is widely held that the purpose of life of each person to give glory,
loyalty, and joy in action and thought to the Great Leaders. Kim Jong Il s birth
entails angelic appearances. Many North Korean song lyrics are sung to Christian
Hymns, and the shocking similarities can be found between the national creed and
the Apostles Creed. Sadly, punishment of imprisonment at labor camps or death can
be given to anyone found not practicing the ideas of juche. In 1984 fashion the
nation is covered with a well organized surveillance system that monitors every
individual in the country The nation s stance of intolerance towards other ideas of
thought have closed it off from allowing outside cultures, religions, and philosophy
to being allowed for even knowledge purposes, all done in the name of
Military Force Persuasive Essay
Given the fact that the US led NATO alliance was far superior in virtually every
way to Slobodan Milosevic s military force, why was NATO unable to achieve a
quick, decisive end to the conflict, and avoid the engineered mass migration of
immigrants out of Kosovo? Because Milosevic s strategy in the areas of intelligence
gathering and targeting of alliances to defeat the enemy, were masterful employments
of military theory as described by Sun Tzu, Carl Von Clausewitz and others. Sun Tzu
says, The reason the enlightened prince and the wise general conquer the enemy
whenever they move and their achievements surpass those of ordinary men is
foreknowledge. Milosevic used intelligence collected from various media sources,

Defensively, Milosevic knew that there was really no appetite within NATO, for a
prolonged bombing campaign. The US had made it known that a bombing
campaign would not last more than a few days, and believed a few days would be
enough for Milosevic to concede. Additionally, he had received information from
France and others in NATO that the target list would be narrow. This information
prompted him to be more cavalier in his approach. Rather than giving up without a
fight and getting nothing for his troubles, he understood that he would be bombed,
but he also knew that he only had to outlast the first few days until NATO realized
bombing would not accomplish its objectives. He went so far as to make it known
that he would not capitulate, and he could, and would, withstand a few days of
bombing. From an offensive perspective, he knew the use of mass expulsions of
refugees into neighboring European countries had far greater influence than military
action, and would most likely be more effective in achieving his objectives. Polls
taken in the years leading up to this event indicated that the majority of European
countries were 60 percent to 80 percent in favor of reducing, or stopping all together,
immigration from the east. Immigrants and the associated economic burdens
The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen
A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen
provides a rich plot for readers while pushing them to question the world in which
they live. One such question suggested by the text is what it means to be a hero or a
good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable. Through the Comedian,
Moore provides a characterwho skirts the line between good and evil in that he uses
aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero.
Furthermore, the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only
overly violent hero, is most always cast in a negative light, with few redeeming
qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough to outweigh the bad.
The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with
several key scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of
characterization is his attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other
source of identity has been given, so for the duration of the novel, the reader must
absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable of, and has committed.
In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers to
subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light,
and in doing so, suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the
juxtaposition of Blake as a hero who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take
into question
The Rise And Rise Of Religion During The Axial Age Essay
The Axial Age (for purposes of this paper, and in our reading) span from 800 BC
until 600 AD, and saw the rise and fall of empires, the invention of coinage and
markets, and the birth of countless philosophical and religious schools of thought.
From studying this innovative and tumultuous time period, one may come to several
conclusions on how material gain and spiritual thoughtmay be closely linked. Here,
the pursuit of profit became the pursuit of social good ; the lines between civic and
marketable gain became blurred, forever changing the attitudes of peasants and the
rich alike. The Axial Age was a crucial period in our history in which leaders learned
how best to manipulate their populace, philosophical thought took root in the rational
ratios of the cosmos, and marketeconomy became not only a medium in which to
acquire that which one needs to survive, but the bedrock upon which our society is
built. I plan to support the ideathat coinage and the rise of religion during the Axial
Age is supported by explaining the following concepts from our reading: that the
calculation of debts, market economics, and a fundamentally different system of
trading allowed a space for new philosophical thought to emerge, that the pursuit of
profit became synonymous with the pursuit of personal betterment, that governments
realized it was crucial to suppress the total economic gains of its citizens, and that
religion was in part founded to placate the poor, listless masses. Let us
Gender Roles In Frederick Douglass
The endeavor to escape slavery was an idea that pondered in the minds of slaves.
While slavery influenced both genders emotionally, physically, and educationally,
ultimately only the male gender was able to comprehend what it would be like to
be able to flee slavery. Men took charge and became independent being able to leave
slavery, whereas the women were more dependent as wives and mothers, which
caused them to not be able to getaway. Douglass and Jacobs works proved this to be
true as the reader sees their experiences as a slave fluctuate based on their gender.
Through Douglass encounters as a slave we see how important it is for a male to
participate in physical labor and then through Jacobs story, one is able to see how
women were used mostly by their masters sexually. Once Abolition started
everyone thought it would better the lives of men and women, but boy were they
mistaken. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Narrative of the Life of
Frederick Douglass, the authors vary in the way that the men are able to escape
slavery easier than woman because of the expectations of gender roles during the
time and that is what shaped these two works. Throughout Douglass narrative of
his life, he is able to have this image that one day he will no longer be controlled by a
master and no longer be a slave and is something Linda in Incidents in the Life of a
Slave Girl, cannot ever see because her family is restricting her from this idea.
Douglass has no parents or
Epictetus Quotes
Considering me and my family came from a country, now known with its war and
its endless revolution, we got used to hearing bad news about it every other day.
We came from Syria, which was a beautiful place to live in before the revolution
started. Most of my friends had to leave it because they don t have a place to live in
anymore, their house have been destroyed. But for us, we lived in a safe area and
our house is still there sheltering our cousins who didn t leave their country.
My father and mother both are Ophthalmologists who have a great reputation back
there in Syria. One year before the revolution started my father built a big eye lasik
center, after being encouraged by his family and friends, which was really fancy and
beautiful, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I needed someone or something to help me to overcome this. Through the reading
in the handbook of Epictetus and his moral morsels to survive, I ran through one
of his precious quotes: Never say about anything, I have lost it, but instead, I have
given it back. ... But the person who took it was bad! . . From this quote I tried to
replace my sad and negative thoughts with positive ones. I thought about all our
cousins and relatives back in Syria, how they are still living there no matter how
worse it is, they are all alive and safe. And I would prefer losing this building over
losing one of them or even getting harm. This building was a beautiful thing given
to us and now we gave it back, we didn t lose anyone and that is what really matters.
Building can be recreated but people can not, we still can build another one. All we
need to do now is forgetting about the past and what happened back then and there,
and start thinking about the future to rebuild what others destroyed. As Lyndon B.
Johnson said: yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.
. So I can and I will win it by staying positive and be convinced that whatever a bad
thing happened it is just meant to be, and it can be a lesson or a challenge which
will make you stronger and more determined to achieve your
Who Is Bertha In Wide Sargasso Sea
The times when Jane have no clue that Bertha existence, she gave her no qualities
of a normal human, and thought that she was a ghost when she heard Bertha s
eerie laughter. Then the time when Bertha snuck into Jane s room, Jane thought
she saw a vampire and describes her as fearful and ghastly (BrontГ« 242). Even
when she finally saw Bertha in daylight she still called her a hyena. This is all in
Jane s perspective, and readers take it for granted that Bertha is a monster or a
ghost that roams around Thornfield Hall. Readers will never associate the word
beautiful with Bertha if it was not for Mr. Rochester s description of her as similar

Rochester s by setting his bed on fire, readers will immediately think that she is
evil for doing something so terrible. There is no justification for why she attacked
Mr. Rochester, but instead it seems right to have her locked up in the attic so that
she does not pose any danger to others. However, Rhys provided a reason for
Bertha s attack on Mr. Rochester. It started out with Mr. Rochester ignoring her
and cheating on her during their honeymoon. Then when Mr. Rochester brings her
back to England, she is locked away in a room, and Mr. Rochester never visited her.
Since she has the disease of becoming mad, Mr. Rochester s treatment just
accelerated the development of her madness. Even a normal person will become
mad if they are locked away in a small room for a long period of time. Given this
view, it seems rather rational for Bertha to set Mr. Rochester s bed on fire, because
that is her way of fighting back her oppressor. By showing the conflicts that occurred
betweein Mr. Rochester and Bertha, Rhys lets the readers see that Bertha attacks Mr.
Rochester, because she wants to get rid of him so that she could be free again. This
shows that she is not simply a lunatic that goes around setting things on
What Are The Destinies Of Those Who Is Habakkokkuk
After the determination of God to destroy his enemies as mentioned in 1:6, it
suddenly mentions about comfort to those who seek refuge in him in 1:7. Also, it
says God cares for those who trust in him. Then in the next verse, the hymn moves
back to the main theme of destruction. It shows a contrast of two destinies of those
who take refuge of Godand those who oppose God. Why it appears at this location?
The commentary refers this verse as parallel with Psalm 34:8; 100:5 and 135:3
(p.24). It suggests the absence of any names in the prophecy means that people (of
Jerusalem or of Nineveh) have to decide whether they want to be people to whom
verse 7 applies (care) or people to whom verse 8 applies (destruct) (p.25). I do not
agree it is a choice for the people of Nineveh as in verse 8 it mentions about the
unequivocal ending of Nineveh.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, after Habakkuk raises the question in 1:12 17, there seems to be a moment
of silence in 2:1. Why? The commentary mentions that in some OT stories people
apparently get an immediate response when they turn to Yahweh to ask something
but in other people have to wait (p.65). The commentary suggests that it witnesses to
the fact that Yahweh does respond but also the fact of Yahweh s freedom. I agree
with the commentary that Habakkuk should not think up a response and assume it
was Yahweh s. There is a difference between prophecy and theological reflection.
Although there is no mention in the book, I am speculating whether Habakkuk
confrontational attitude changes during that waiting period resulting in his
submission to Yahweh and accepting worst situation in chapter
Social Norms In Sociology
To start, I will discuss what social norms are. Societal norms are both unwritten
informal rules that are accepted by people and written formal rules that are strictly
enforced laws, of how people should carry themselves (Keirns, et al., 2016). Social
norms are part of the socialization process. The socialization process is the way
people learn the norms and beliefs of our society to fit in (Keirns, et al., 2016,
n.p.). Some examples of social norms are looking into the eyes of the person you are
speaking with, using silverware instead of your hands when eating, and saying
excuse me when you belch in front of someone. Societal norms give myself and
people guidelines of how to carry themselves in different situations. More importantly,

Gender role is described as the perception the society has on how males and
females should carry themselves in terms of appearance and behaviors. Some
examples of perceptions the society has on women in the home are, they need to
know how to cook, take care of the children, and manage the house. I applied this
sociological concept because I see the perception evident in my log. During my
husband absence, I manage the house by making sure my daughter made it to
school, the house stayed clean and provided my children meals. When my husband
is home, and I am at work, he is usually taking on my role until I get back. When I
do get back home from work, my husband basically expects me to perform the
gender role of a woman in the house. Sociologists Schieman and Taylor (2001)
studies stated women s role in the society are traditionally revolved around tasked
that are household related. They also stated that in the society, men and women are
expected to have different responsibilities within the home. Women s central role is
often linked to family, even while involved in the workforce, men s core role often
tends to be associated with paid employment (Schieman Taylor, 2001, p. 473). This
verifies that the examples I stated earlier about the perception the society has on the
gender role of women are

How is the battle between good and evil presented in The Woman in Black?
The Woman in Black italics is a gothic novel and move that was written by Susan Hill
and directed by James Watkins. The movie had different ways of showing the Good

most changes through the movie in emotionally and mentally. Arthur Kipps is a
young man who believes that there are no such things as ghosts.
In the movie the evil was shown when Arthur was in the train going to the village

Creon Tragic Hero In The Play Antigone
In the play Antigone, there were many tragic heroes. In my opinion Creon was one
of those. Creon was a tragic hero that was trying to be noble, but losing his entire
family was extreme; he was set to fail from the start. In the play Creon decreed
Polyneices was not to be buried. He did this as he believed that Polyneices was a
traitor to Thebes. In his eyes this was a noble deed to do for his city that Polyneices
had betrayed. If anyone undermined him and buried Polyneices then he saw them as
un noble and must be dealt with at once. His downfall came as a result from him
trying to be noble. Upholding traitors like Antigonedid is not noble. Creons entire
family by the end of the play, with the exception Ismene, killed themselves. No matter
Roy, S Reactions To Conflict In Bernard Malamud s The
Natural
Although Roy is the main character Bernard Malamud s The Natural, we are not
directly told of his past. It is up to the reader to piece together the puzzle and
interpret why Roy acts and responds in the way he does. Roy s mysterious past
makes his responses to conflict the most interesting aspect of this book. There is a
presence of conflict throughout the entire text: adversity with The Whammer ,
Bump, Gus, Memo, the Judge, and his own mental state. Although Roy reacts to
conflict in a variety of ways, the reactions themselves are fueled by one motive.
Roy s overall responses to conflict originate from his devastating past and family
life, in addition to his need to prove to himself that he has purpose. Although we
are not specifically told of Roy s past, Malamud gives away small hints and details
towards what has occurred. It is revealed that Roy was not fond of his mother, and
that she had a bad influence on him. Roy describes his mother as a whore that

Benefits Of Using Abdominal Subcutaneous Tissue And...
Ideally biopsies of abdominal subcutaneous tissue and salivary glands should be
used for the Congo red staining test, and it is positive if the sample has apple green
birefringence in appearance under polarized light. If the sample was inconclusive or
negative, then the provider should have the affected organ biopsied to ensure an
accurate diagnosis. The reason one should investigate for amyloiddeposits via more
invasive biopsy techniques is due to the higher risk of mortality associated with
misdiagnosis and delayed or lack of treatment. If renal biopsies are warranted,
sufficient amounts of amyloid deposits can be found around the glomerular basement
membranes. Urine testing for paraprotein is not specific enough for the diagnosis of
AL, for many gammopathies present with this in the urine. Once biopsies are
positive, then the amyloid deposits should be tested via immunofluorescence
microscopy to obtain valuable information regarding its makeup.
Immunohistochemistry can be used as well, but it is not as successful in providing
compositional information for AL as immunofluorescence. AL should be
differentiated from the other forms of amyloidosis, such as hereditary amyloidosis,
inflammatory amyloidosis, and hemodialysis related amyloidosis. Randall type light
chain deposition disease (LCDD) should also be included in the differential (Desport
et al., 2012).

Cognitive Bias In Health Care
In the United States alone, approximately 20% of Americans experience a mental
illness in a given year, and 1 in 25 Americans live with a serious mental illness that
significantly impacts one or more life activities (NAMI.org, 2015). These disorders
span across the lifetime, many starting by the age of 14, and mental healthcare is
often the root of progress or hindrance for a person whose life is impacted by these
unseen disorders. Though it is not always evident that an individual is experiencing
mental illness, these complications influence the daily lives of millions of people
worldwide, regardless of age, culture, race, religion, or other delineation. As a result,
it is vital that this sector of healthcare be thoroughly examined for inefficiencies,...

The availability heuristic is the tendency to consider events more common than
they really are if they come to mind quickly or easily (Croskerry, 2002). Though the
recency of seeing a disorder does not increase the base rate of its occurrence, faulty
cognitions result in providers thinking this way. This bias appeared in a study
exploring how likely a doctor was to say that a patient had bacteremia. In this
study, the doctors judged this disease as much more probable if they had recent
experience treating it, despite the base rate of infection being the same in either
case. What first came to mind was not necessarily most accurate, but most salient
(Klein, 2005). Particularly affected are specialized practices. Because a provider
sees a specific disorder frequently, it is commonly most salient and more likely to
lead to the availability bias. This heuristics poses a particular threat in ambiguous
cases; the diagnosis received may depend solely on which provider evaluated the
patient first (Saposnik, Redelmeier, Ruff, Tobler,
Professional Bodies Of The Electro Engineer Essay
Professional Bodies in Technology
Professional bodies are organizations that have members as individual professionals.
To be a member, the profession requires that the professionals to seek a license to
practice for them to carry out their jobs. In no lesser way, the professional body
overseeing the Electro Engineering has a number of roles.
Professional bodies within the field of electro technology are tasked with a
generally oversight role of the standards associated with the field. Most important of
all is that the professional bodies focus on advancing electro technology. In
advancing technology, the professional bodies conduct and sponsor exhibitions,
symposia and technical meetings over New Zealand. Professional bodies also offer
graduates a chance to network with others within the same field. These networks are
used by professionals to meet and reflect upon their field of expertise. Alongside this
function, the professional bodies in electro technology accredit the stipulated courses
under the entire field and certify the professional competence of engineers.
According to Robinson (2007), the professional body publishes professional journals
to further the field. As will be observed, the professional body, under the compliance
of the ethical code of conduct, deals with various complaints against professionals and
implements the disciplinary procedures accordingly. Having established this mandate,
it follows that they also issue a Code of Conduct to guide the
Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths
One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin.
How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him?
What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these
questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation
myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because
of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different
from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give.
Genesis
In the Western world, the most well known creation story is in Genesis (Myth A), in
the Old Testament of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an
ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and
woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God
breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God
took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman.
Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than
the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man
was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and
let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth
upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there
was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man
was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I,
man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created
merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans,
tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him
to be superior to all other species.
Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other
quite well.
Regression Analysis
Regression Analysis and Business Rules of thumb, instinct, convention, and simple
financial analysis are frequently no longer adequate for addressing such common
decisions found in business such as make versus buy, facility site selection, and
process redesign. Generally, the forces of competition are commanding a need for
more efficient decision making at all levels in companies. Decision analysts provide
quantitative support for the decision makers in all areas including engineers, analysts
in planning offices and public agencies, project managementconsultants,
manufacturing process planners, financial and economic analysts and experts
supporting medical and technological diagnosis (Tools for Decision Analysis:
Analysis of Risky Decisions, 2012). Modeling for decision making comprises two
distinct entities, one is the decision maker and the other is the model builder who is
known as the analyst. The function of the analyst is to help the decision maker in
their decision making process. Consequently, the analyst must be outfitted with more
than a set of analytical methods. Specialists in model building are frequently lured to
study a problem, and then go off by themselves to develop a complex mathematical
model for use by the manager. Unfortunately the manager may not comprehend this
model and may either use it blindly or decline it all together. The specialist may feel
that the manager is too uninformed and unsophisticated to be grateful for the model,

Seligram Case Cost Accounting
Was the existing system adequate in the past? Why or why not? Why is it no longer
adequate? The existing system was adequate in the past due to heavy reliance on
direct labor hours. The ETO served as a central cost center, and transferred the costs
to other divisions at direct costs plus allocated burden. Being in the late 1970s and
early 1980s, technology testing of components required fewer cycles, and less
complicated structures. Hence, such testing on products could be carried out by
direct labor. The products included Integrated circuits, capacitor resistors, transistors
and similar components. The testing center would handle about 500 components per
month, and close to 3,000 per year. In addition, the main components tested were...

Causes Of Tyranny
Henry VIII, Joseph Stalin, Ivan IV, Adolf Hitler, Kim Jong II, and more are all tyrants
who inflicted tyranny on their people. Throughout history many tyrants have
oppressed their citizens with unfair and harsh treatment and have gotten away with it.
Tyranny is known as a cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control
inflicted by an oppressive government or ruler. Even though this sadistic behavior
continues today, it doesn t in the United Statesof America. In 1775 to 1783, the
American Revolutionary War, also known as the U.S. War of Independence, took
place. This was a conflict that arose form growing tensions between residents of
Great Britain s 13 North American colonies and the tyrannical British Crown. In
response to the callous treatment, a group of colonial delegates (including George
Washington of Virginia, John and Samuel Adams or Massachusetts, Patrick Henry
of Virginia, and john jay of New York) met in Philadelphia in September 1774 to
give voice to their grievances against the British Crown, which is formally known as
the First Continental Congress. By June 1776, with the Revolutionary War in full
swing, a growing majority of the colonists had come to favor independence from
Britain resulting in the continental Congress drafting the Declaration of
Independence on July 4. The thirteen colonies officially declared their independence
from the tyrant ruler known as King George III of Britain. Eleven years later, in the
summer of 1787, fifty five
The Pros And Cons Of Migration To Tucson
We ve finally made the move to Tucson and are getting ready to move into new
office space in the next few weeks. I thought it would be interesting to share with
some of my readers what we have discovered about Tucson as a place for small
business and emerging technology businesses. First, it s pretty well known
nationally that the city of Tucson, and to some degree Pima County is not very
embracing and welcoming when it comes to small business and technology
businesses. There are a few exceptions to this and I want to point two of these at
the very beginning. Thryve and StartUp Tucson are very hands on and welcoming.
These folks have a plan and great ideas. They deserve a lot of support. The
reputation of Tucson for being not business friendly is well known. There are lots
of folks who have left the Tucson area and migrated back east. They are quick to
talk about the raw beauty of Southern Arizona and also talk about how terrible the
business climate is in the area. Much of the blame seems to be around a very
welfare centric government, higher than average union memberships, highest sales
taxes and property taxes in the state of Arizona and an alarming lack of good
leadership. It s a common refrain among the folks I have met here who have
migrated to the Tucson area that you either bring your job or... Show more content on

Even with the University of Arizona in the city, Tucson shuns any venture supporting
higher education. Grand Canyon University was very interested in building a major

a campus in Tucson would have meant hundreds of good paying jobs at occupational
levels from janitorial and maintenance to faculty positions. However, the city council
torpedoed this, in large part by council member Regina Romero. It just defies any
logic how this once in a life time opportunity was wasted by the (ignorant) elite

Pornography And Its Effect On Society
Pornography is a booming industry which is at its highest peak. With so many
ways to access Porn, it is no wonder how common it is to hear the terms associated
with porn. Porn has changed the perception of sex in an ample amount of ways.
Some would consider porn to be prostitution, the only difference is that it is filmed
and it is legal. Porn is not something that should be lightly tossed around in the
conversation if there is no maturity involved. It is sickening to know that young kid
can see grown sexual acts that portray women to be commodities that can be tossed
around. Pornographyhas made a drastic impact not only in society, but the
perspectives of each exposed individual in a negative way.
The Pornography Industry, according to Columbia Graduate School Professor
Rebecca Leung, the porn industry becomes less glamorous the closer you get,
(Online Pornography pg 30 p 5.) Making more than four hundred and ninety
million dollars solely in porn subscriptions and made more than nine billion dollars
in revenue overall as of 1992. Despite having big profit margins, there are dirty
secrets that hide behind the curtains of production sets. Porn Agents lure girls by

homes for a few weeks while their family have no clue about what their child is

The Theory Of Batteries And Electrochemical Cells
In class I was introduced to the concepts of batteries and electrochemical cells. I am
really interested in batteries and how they work and what goes into making a battery.
I was inspired to this experiment mostly because I want to study electrical
engineering in university and I wanted to find out the chemistry behind the
production of the electrical energy in batteries. During my reading, I found out that
the first battery was actually invented by Italian physicist Count Alessandro Volta and
was demonstrated to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801. Constructed from alternating discs
of zincand copper wit pieces of cardboard soaked in brine between the metals, this
was the first battery that produced a reliable steady current of electricity. The reason
why this works is because, as I found out, batteries use the process of redoxreactions
to create voltage. I also found out that the difference in reactivity leads to the
voltage that will be produced. Voltage is a measure of the amount of energy which
each coulomb of electrons can carry. The more readily a species loses electrons,
the bigger the build of potential energy and the higher the voltage. The reason why
transition metals are used is because they are very good conductors of electricity and
they have seas of electrons so electrons can travel within them fairly easily. There is
a table that provides the results of experiments where these various compartments are
connected to a hydrogen electrode. It is known as the
The Lee Strasberg Film And Theatre Institute
Method acting is often misinterpreted as an acting exercise where the actor becomes
the character, and keeps the persona of that character until they have completed their
work. This misguided thinking has been promoted by pop culture and even
sometimes by actors themselves. The Lee Strasberg Film Theatre Institute defines the
Method as when actors use their imagination, sense and emotion to conceive
characters with unique and original behavior, creating performances grounded in the
human truth of the moment. This definition focuses more on the relationship
between the actorand their character, rather than both being one and the same.

in Brody) Actors are constantly searching for the truth behind these moments, and
then use this truth to tell the story of their character. When the truth is found, and
then executed well, the actor has reached their goal. At the end of the entire
process, the actor s goal is simple: tell the story with as much truth as possible. This
is where Method acting comes into play as a way to connect to the truth, and to
translate the truth for the actor s audience. Another actor who greatly benefitted
from the Method is Marlon Brando. He is widely believed to be one of the most
influential actors ever, and turned going to the movies into a psychological
experience. For some of his most famous roles in movies such as A Streetcar
Named Desire, The Godfather, and Julius Caesar, Brando utilized his own
personal emotional history to accurately portray his characters. (Thomson) An
interesting aspect of the Method that tends to be looked over, is the fact that it is
actually considered to be a very masculine and American way of acting. Few
female actors have been famously successful with Method acting. The Method is
preferred by some actors because they believe it to be a more sincere way of
conveying the truth of a character and story. These actors are considered to be
extremely dedicated to their craft, since they are so willing

Assessment
Prior to any services being put into place, there will need to a functional behavioral
assessment needs to be completed. A functional behavioral assessment (FBA), as
stated by Cooper, Heron and Heward (2007), is used to acquire information about
what the function of a certain behavior serves for a person. Through the use of a direct
functional assessment mehtods and an indirect functional assessment methods,
information can be gathered on Chester s behaviors and what the function of those
behvaiors are.
Indirect functional assessment methods are used to gather information from others
who are acquainted with that person, such as parents and teachers, through the use of
questionairres, checklists, personal interviews and rating scales (Copper, et al, 2007).
This type of assessment is done to determine when, where the problem behaviors are

Metaphysics Essay
Metaphysics
Metaphysics can be defined as an attempt to comprehend the basic characteristics of
reality. It is in fact so basic that it is all inclusive, whether something is observable
or not. It answers questions of what things must be like in order to exist and how to
differentiate from things that seem real but are not. A common thought is that reality
is defined as what we can detect from our five senses. This type of philosophy is
called empiricism, which is the idea that all knowledge comes from our senses. An
empiricist must therefore believe that what we can see, touch, taste, smell, and hear
must be real and that if we can not in fact see, touch, taste, smell, or hear something,
it is definitely not real. However, this is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other people do not believe in it. Another important aspect of metaphysics is that
reality is separate from our minds. We can not affect or change things just by
thinking about them. However, some metaphysicians believe that our feelings are
more real than what we can sense because our feelings are first hand and come
from our body. They must in fact be real because we are more aware of them.
Metaphysics basically describes what people do everyday in their lives. People
have a constant need to differentiate between what s real and what s not. In our
everyday life, we are faced with appearances and materialistic things. Metaphysics
can even relate to beauty. What s beautiful to one person may be repulsive to
another and vice versa. Beauty is something that we can see, but it s not a physical
object that can be sensed. Does this mean that it is not real? Empirically, yes. As
people get older, they can better distinguish between real and not real. As stated in
the textbook, a person must balance reality and their dreams, goals, etc, because
both things are important. Fantasy, such as our dreams and goals, are part of being
human and for some people, it is a purpose of life. If we only lived in reality, there
would be nothing to strive for because everyone would live based on what we
know from our five senses. As long as people can keep a balance between the two,
they can live a normal life in which they know what s real, but they can

Age Related Macular Degeneration
Eyes are considered one of, or the most important of the five senses and one that is
taken with huge appreciation, but many are unaware of the certain risk factors that
are performed daily which can influence the quality of vision in the long term.
According to the According to the Centers for disease control and prevention (2013)
in the United States, the most common eye disorders are age related and can lead to
reduction in vision or complete blindness; they include: age related macular

its effect on the visual system and its link to the development of these common

suggested including pictures and a helpline number on each cigarettepacket to deter
the smokers. Moreover, one of the many side effects of smoking is that it raises
blood pressure. Therefore, alongside recommendations to refrain from smoking to
prevent an increase in pressure, there are certain nutrients that are known to decrease
blood pressure. These can prove to be a very effective treatment for ocular diseases
linked to diabetes such as diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. Despite the harmful

from 1787 to 1793, under the command of Captain Robert Gray, explored the US
Pacific Northwest and became the first American vessel to circumnavigate the
globe. It is also named after the Command Module of Apollo 11, the first manned
landing on another celestial body. Columbia was also the female symbol of the
United States. After construction, the orbiter arrived at Kennedy Space Center on
March 25, 1979, to prepare for its first launch. Columbia was originally scheduled to
lift off in late 1979, however the launch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On March 19, 1981, during preparations for a ground test, workers were
asphyxiated while working in Columbia s nitrogen purged aft engine compartment,
resulting in (variously reported) two or three fatalities. The first flight of Columbia
(STS 1) was commanded by John Young, a veteran from the Gemini and Apollo
programs who was the ninth person to walk on the Moon in 1972, and piloted by
Robert Crippen, a rookie astronaut originally selected to fly on the military s Manned
Orbital Laboratory (MOL) spacecraft, but transferred to NASA after its cancellation,
and served as a support crew member for the Skylab and Apollo Soyuz missions.
Columbia spent 610 days in the Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF), another 35 days
in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), and 105 days on Pad 39A before finally
lifting off. Columbia was successfully launched on April 12, 1981, the 20th
anniversary of the first human spaceflight (Vostok 1), and returned on April 14, 1981,
Jim Jones And The Jonestown Massacre
Jim Jones and the Jonestown Massacre
November 18, 1978, altered America, but the process leading up to that day began
much earlier by a mind only described as perverse. The Peoples Temple of the
Disciples of Christ, Peoples Temple as it is commonly referred, led by James
Warren Jones blazed its own way into the history books with what is still one of the
most disastrous endings of a movement. Jim Jones is known for founding the most
infamous cult in American history; his reputation revolves around the manipulation
of a population, professing skewed values, controlling that population, and eventually
destroying what he created in a final act of domination.
Cults Explained
To understand the happenings of Peoples Templeone must first ... Show more content

As he grew up he began finding his interest in religion as he attended churches
around town, eventually obtaining a friendship with a minister at the Pentecostal
church (Biography.com Editors, 2014). This friendship truly marked the
beginning of Jones religious fanaticism as it led to him preaching to/at his
community and friends, even though he only could hold a few. His devout nature
drove away many, but it was his view on other s behaviors that really caused his
lack of friendships. He regarded many behaviors to be sinful or wrong, which
caused an anger towards the boys who portrayed them if not a hostility. In her
research paper, Antoinette Pick Jones (2007) provides the example ...Jim was so
upset with one of his friends for going home rather than going out and witnessing,
that he grabbed his father s gun and shot at the boys... which shows just how far
Jones would go if he felt like someone was acting in a sinful manner.
In terms of education Jones had a successful one that eventually led to him continuing
onto undergraduate work at Butler University and graduate studies at Indiana
University. Right out of high school he married a young woman, Marceline Baldwin,
who was a nursing student that also had a passion for Christianity that fit with his
(Peterson, 2005). His area of concern revolved around integration and communities
that didn t have representation in both religion and ordinary public affairs; a
Machiavellianism In Much Ado About Nothing
Machiavellianism is seen by many people as describing others as being evil, selfish,
and only doing things to benefit them or make them feel good. In the book Much
Ado About Nothing, there is many examples of Machiavellianism through characters
like Don Jon, and Borachio. Only one of those can take the throne, so to end the
debate, Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon due to his plan for Claudio, his
evil actions during the planning, and execution phases of that.
The first reason to show that Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon is,
because he s the one that actually got the idea to trick Claudio that Hero is cheating,
and his more evil personnel. In Act 2 Scene 2, Don Jon tells Borachio that Claudio
will marry Hero, and Borachio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Borachio, and Conrad are talking about the plan, while being drunk, well even
before the plan Borachio shows many signs of Machiavellianism. Before discussing
the actual plan, Borachio says a line stating Thou shouldst rather ask if it were
possible any villainy should be so rich. For when rich Villains have need of poor
ones, poor ones may make what price they will (Shakespeare 55). In this line
Borachio is being disrespectful to those less fortunate people, and saying that how
can a Villain be so rich? As he himself is one of the villains of this plot, he is acting
like those highly ranked jerks that only care about themself, as he is also saying
that poor people don t really have many choices of luxury as him. Would people
want everyone to act like Borachio? Sliding into the next reason that how he
decided to deliver, and execute the plan, Borachio tells Conrad word for word what
they had setup. On one part of the explanation he offends ancient people called
Pharaohs soldiers which the side notes state are people drowned in the Red Sea,
and he totally disrespects them. Next he legitimately states that he is telling this
story highly offensive, with intention. Lastly, Borachio he took all the credit of the
plan, was being selfish only to make himself feel better not giving kudos to
anything else, by saying ...partly by the dark night, which did deceive them, but
chiefly by my villainy. This just show he is not accepting the fact that he didn t do
everything himself, and some was luck rather than skill. Borachio is just a ruthless
bastard, by how he went on to carry out, and spread the
Analyzing The Moments Of Life Come From Having
Crucial...
Many defining moments in life come from having crucial conversations (as these
create significant shifts in attitude and behavior). This book focuses on techniques
on how to hold such conversations in a positive space when surrounded by highly
charged emotions. Their findings are based on 25 years of research with 20,000
people.
Their model has essentially 7 steps:
1.Start with the heart (i.e. empathy and positive intent)
2.Stay in dialogue
3.Make it safe
4.Don t get hooked by emotion (or hook them)
5.Agree a mutual purpose
6.Separate facts from story
7.Agree a clear action plan
Our success in life is dictated by the quality of relationships we can engender. Some
people seem better at negotiating better quality outcomes (for all) than others do they
work with people rather than through people. They are able to hold deeper, more
honest conversations that create a new level of bonding and are able to transform
people, situations and relationships. By being prepared to hold these conversations
(often early) they ensure clarity over responsibility, define expectations and hence
maintain high levels of performance. When we let these conversations go by, we let
standards slip and unwittingly give permission for unwanted behavior to continue.
Crucial conversations lie all around us all the time: from performance appraisals at
work, up to discussing problems over sexual intimacy. The skills we need in the
boardroom are the same skills we need in the bedroom.
An Obligation Of Duty Between A Corporation And An
Individual
Issue[s]:
What conditions create an obligation of duty between a corporation and an
individual, and at what point, does one have the right to hold a corporation negligent?
Rule[s]:
Duty a) Reasonable Person Standard: Members of society have to behave so as to
avoid unreasonable risk or harm to others, b) Reasonable Foreseeability of Harm:
The concept that a reasonable person acts to avoid reasonably foreseeable risks of
harm to others.
Negligence Conduct that falls below the standards of behavior established by the law
for the protection of others against unreasonable risk to harm (Dictionary).
Prima Facie A set of requirements that must be met to be successful in a negligence
claim. These points include: 1) The existence of a duty, 2) the breaching of a duty, 3)
causation (actual proximate), and 4) the suffering of an injury.
Actual Cause A factor without which the result in question could not happen
(Cornell).
Proximate Cause: An event closest to, or immediately responsible for causing, some
observed result (Cornell).
Duty Application[s]:
The first step in this case is to determine if a duty existed between Citywide and Mr.
Jetson. Established in prior cases of negligence , the courts have the power to
determine the question of duty, through the use of three factors: 1) relationship, 2)
foreseeable harm, and 3) public policy concerns.
While Citywide can argue that no duty existed between the two parties based upon
the fact that Mr. Jetson was not a patron

Topic: IT Governance at University of the Southeast Date: 03/12/2014
Critical Facts: В· Supported by the Information Technology, University of the
Southeast was among the largest growing universities in the United States (Saunders,
2013).
В· The University used IT governance in lecturing capturing tools technology to
provide lecture to the students at varied places made lectures independent to the
physical classrooms (Saunders, 2013).
В· In University of the Southeast, IT was administered by Information Technologies
and Resources (IT R) department which was responsible for providing IT support
services across the campus (Saunders, 2013).

Even though the university followed a centralized organizational model was not
consistent throughout and there was a hidden decentralization of the IT governance.
For instance, in a centralized model, the problems with the lecture capturing software
while authenticating the already registered students or the inadequate network
bandwidth should be solved by the help desk support team instead of referring back
to the faculty. IT monarchy is fitting governance for the decisions like aligning
security procedures to IS architecture specifications, where corporate IT (Individuals
or groups of IT executives. ) takes the title role and is responsible for specifying the
configuration, consistency in protection achieving competency among the
components according to the need of the organization (Saunders, 2013). University
of the Southeast did followed the IT Monarchy archetype by making Information
Technologies and Resources (IT R ) responsible for taking decisions regarding IT
architecture security Infrastructure by providing computer services,
telecommunications, multimedia support across the campus (Saunders, 2013). The
decision making power were entirely in the hands of IT R. If IR R had tried to
provide the faculty with the decision making right of having control on archiving
their own emails or choosing their preferred e mail address or changing their email
address printed in the university directory

  • 1. Chinese Culture Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of Chinese culture presents a unique set of challenges that requires a delicate balance of research, cultural sensitivity, and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. First and foremost, delving into a rich and diverse culture like China's demands an extensive exploration of its history, traditions, customs, art, philosophy, and contemporary aspects. Navigating through the vast array of cultural elements, from ancient practices to modern influences, can be a daunting task. Moreover, the cultural landscape of China is multifaceted, with regional variations, ethnic diversity, and the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity. This complexity adds an extra layer of intricacy to the essay, necessitating careful consideration of diverse perspectives and avoiding oversimplifications. Language can also be a hurdle. The vastness of the Chinese language and its various dialects, coupled with the challenge of translating cultural nuances accurately, adds another dimension to the difficulty of the task. Striking the right balance between providing sufficient depth and avoiding overwhelming detail is a constant challenge. Cultural sensitivity is crucial, as misinterpretations or misrepresentations can lead to misunderstandings. Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be immensely rewarding. It provides an opportunity to appreciate the richness of Chinese heritage, explore the interconnectedness of various cultural elements, and gain insights into a society that has a profound impact on the global stage. Virginia Hasn T Always Been For Lovers Chapter Summary In the first chapter of Phyl Newbeck s book Virginia Hasn t always been for Lovers: Interracial Marriage Bans and the Case of Richard and Mildred Loving, Newbeck introduces the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, a white male and colored female who married. Their love was pure and home some. When the two married Mildred did not realize, it was illegal for people of different races to marry in Virginia. The Lovings lived in Central Point, Virginia their entire lives until the state forced them to move out of the state and into Washington D.C, where their marriagewas legal. The couple could not even travel into Virginia to visit family without being arrested. Newbeck tells the entire essence of the loving story, from them meeting, though... I chose the topic of interactional couples, and the acceptance over time because I have a personal connection to the subject. As a Caucasian / Native American girl who is in a relationship with a Caucasian/ Mexican boy. Even before I started this relationship I have been interested in the interracial couple acceptance, growing up in today s age, I have never really seen color. Yes, I can physical see if someone is an African American Race or Chinese but never once has it affect how I see them as a person. I have always believed that when you fall in love with someone you fall in love with their personality and smile. Every human s smile is differently and it is based from what makes that person laugh. Newbeck, the Lovings, and myself all have one thing in common love is love and it should be allowed no matter the race of the people wanting to get

It has improved the lives of billions of patients around the world, with the ability to diagnose disease and injury in minutes. There are many interesting assets of the MRI, including the invention, function, and experience. The invention of Magnetic Resonance Imaging was a lifelong process. It was one of the greatest medical breakthroughs in the 20th century, thanks to Dr. Raymond Damadian the genius behind the MRI. Damadians first MRI machine was named Indomitable , and it was rightly placed in the Smithsonian in 1989. Dr. Raymond Damadian was awarded his final award in March of 2004. He was awarded The Franklin Institute Medal, for his development and commercialization of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, which transformed the diagnosis and treatment of disease. (Bergman) The MRI is an extraordinary machine that changed medical imaging forever, but even more extraordinary is how it functions. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is used to make a detailed image of the human body in order to diagnose disease and injury. It uses a very powerful magnet to align the nuclei of atoms in the body and a variable magnetic field which causes the atoms to produce an image, or resonate. The human body is made of mostly water. Water molecules have hydrogen nuclei that align in the magnetic field. The machine applies magnetic field of about 0.2 to 0.3 teslas, which is about a thousand times stronger than a fridge magnet. I fit into that group because I am athletic and am very physically active. The one thing that I feel doesn t put me into that group is being dumb, most of the time the stereotypical jock wouldn t care about their grades too much, but for me they are my first priority. If I got put into this cliqueit wouldn t make me feel very good, although I would be called athletic, I still wouldn t like to be put in a clique that also represents dumb. One of the things that made me who I am today is sports, everything that happens on the court or on the field will determine my reputation for the rest of my life, and how I will be treated.

Lewis was always eager to learn, and he showed this through his yearning to learn. Otis also noticed that Lewis was different by the way he presented himself through his actions and his appearance. The chickens his family raised intrigued Lewis as a child, and it was to where he developed a relationship or bond with the chickens. He treated each chicken equally, which put him in the mindset that everyone is to be treated equally. Lewis talks about how his education is what got him engaged with the Civil Rights Movement. John Lewis had this passion to progress the Civil Rights Movement into a larger movement, and Uncle Otis realized that

The density of road traffic has increased rapidly in the recent years. Traffic is the major issue for many drivers; it generally results in journey delays as Latency, wasted time while waiting, increased pressure to reduce performance and can cause people loss of business especially in emergency situations. Many schemes have been designed and implemented for relieving traffic as a primary objective. However, these schemes have a varying effectiveness, and also it is not always obvious that, it will work best in a given situation. The appropriate colour space was adopted and the statistical analysis of traffic lights on the various components of this colour space was carried out. • 9. Bill Of Rights Dbq 1.In 1789, James Madison wrote the Bill of Rights, which lists specific constraints on federal control in a set of 10 amendments ratified by the states. Liberty, meaning freedom from governmental and economic control, was the central factor and of utmost importance in the eyes of Madison and his fellow founding fathers when drafting the Bill of Rights. Protecting the peoples respective personal liberties such as freedom of speech and the right to exercise particular religious beliefs played a vital role in the creation of these amendments however limits were also placed on the freedoms granted in order to preserve the nation s wellbeing. Through political advertising on the Internet and television along with numerous other outlets, the opinions of citizens on issues such as healthcare, presidency candidates, and many other concerns can be immensely swayed. Many Americans are not politically intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought out advertisement can nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain issue. Political advertising does not significantly differ from advertising a consumer product such as Fructis shampoo or Poptarts because both are pushing all the good things about their product/issue onto you and hoping that you buy into what they are advertising and take the bait. Also, some advertisements will promote how bad the opposition is while declaring that their commodity/candidate is more qualified and superior for numerous reasons. Due to the fact that these political advertisements and the media manipulate political perspectives, this truly is an insult to the idea of free elections because as the government through advertising is now shaping Americans beliefs there are no longer unaltered political views. The people are no longer making their own decisions but rather having choices placed in front of them. The system of democracy is substantially degraded when citizens outlook on politics

They are a division of a diocese which has its own church and members of the clergy. A parish priest is appointed and entrusted with the spiritual care of his parishioners. In 2008, 49,631 parishes in the world had no resident priest or pastor (CARA services. Frequently requested Church statistics). Parishes without a priestcan cause great difficulties for people. The role of a priest within a parish is vital; a priest is someone who is there for the sick and the dying, a shoulder to cry in times of need and a priest allows parishioners access to each of the seven sacraments. Surely this preparation phase is enough time for a priest to either see the benefit in celibacy or lack there off for them as an individual. Celibacy is a big sacrifice for anyone to undertake. Married life too has sacrifices very different sacrifices; however there is no value in saying one is more of a sacrifice than another. Those in a marriage have many sacrifices that may go unrecognized because they are considered normal. For instance, married couples have a commitment to their partners to be faithful, honest, and dedicated to making the relationship successful. For those with children, the commitments and responsibilities are even greater. There are many cultures around the world that do not expect clergy celibacy (Daly, 2009) including Christian denominations who allow ministers/priests to marry. These Churches demonstrate how marriage is compatible with the priestly life. These churches present a great example of how familial responsibilities are compatible with religious commitments. A study of married Evangelical ministers and Roman Catholic priests revealed that there were no significant differences in dimensions of religiosity or commitments to the parish between the celibate and married clergymen (Swenson, 1998). Both are

In 1910, Japan occupied Korea for 35 years, making it a police state that oppressed the country religiously, culturally, and politically. Military Force Persuasive Essay Given the fact that the US led NATO alliance was far superior in virtually every way to Slobodan Milosevic s military force, why was NATO unable to achieve a quick, decisive end to the conflict, and avoid the engineered mass migration of immigrants out of Kosovo? Because Milosevic s strategy in the areas of intelligence gathering and targeting of alliances to defeat the enemy, were masterful employments of military theory as described by Sun Tzu, Carl Von Clausewitz and others. Sun Tzu says, The reason the enlightened prince and the wise general conquer the enemy whenever they move and their achievements surpass those of ordinary men is foreknowledge. Defensively, Milosevic knew that there was really no appetite within NATO, for a prolonged bombing campaign. The US had made it known that a bombing campaign would not last more than a few days, and believed a few days would be enough for Milosevic to concede. Additionally, he had received information from France and others in NATO that the target list would be narrow. This information prompted him to be more cavalier in his approach. Rather than giving up without a fight and getting nothing for his troubles, he understood that he would be bombed, but he also knew that he only had to outlast the first few days until NATO realized bombing would not accomplish its objectives. He went so far as to make it known that he would not capitulate, and he could, and would, withstand a few days of bombing. From an offensive perspective, he knew the use of mass expulsions of refugees into neighboring European countries had far greater influence than military action, and would most likely be more effective in achieving his objectives. Polls taken in the years leading up to this event indicated that the majority of European countries were 60 percent to 80 percent in favor of reducing, or stopping all together, immigration from the east. • 13. The Watchman As A Hero In Alan Moore s Watchmen A cornerstone work in the world of graphic novels, Alan Moore s Watchmen provides a rich plot for readers while pushing them to question the world in which they live. One such question suggested by the text is what it means to be a hero or a good guy , and to what extent bad acts are redeemable. Through the Comedian, Moore provides a characterwho skirts the line between good and evil in that he uses aggressive methods for achieving his goals, but is still considered a hero. Furthermore, the Comedian, also known as Edward Blake, though not the only overly violent hero, is most always cast in a negative light, with few redeeming qualities, suggesting that the small good he does is not enough to outweigh the bad. The identity of the Comedian is slowly revealed through the course of the book, with several key scenes demonstrating his twisted worldview. One of the first sources of characterization is his attempted rape of Silk Spectre. At that point in time, no other source of identity has been given, so for the duration of the novel, the reader must absorb all new information knowing the evil he is capable of, and has committed. In providing a negative first impression of the Comedian, Moore forces readers to subconsciously interpret any new information presented about him in a dark light, and in doing so, suggests that redemption is not possible for Blake. In addition, the juxtaposition of Blake as a hero who first appears as a rapist forces the reader to take into question
  • 14. The Rise And Rise Of Religion During The Axial Age Essay The Axial Age (for purposes of this paper, and in our reading) span from 800 BC until 600 AD, and saw the rise and fall of empires, the invention of coinage and markets, and the birth of countless philosophical and religious schools of thought. From studying this innovative and tumultuous time period, one may come to several conclusions on how material gain and spiritual thoughtmay be closely linked. Here, the pursuit of profit became the pursuit of social good ; the lines between civic and marketable gain became blurred, forever changing the attitudes of peasants and the rich alike. The Axial Age was a crucial period in our history in which leaders learned how best to manipulate their populace, philosophical thought took root in the rational ratios of the cosmos, and marketeconomy became not only a medium in which to acquire that which one needs to survive, but the bedrock upon which our society is built. I plan to support the ideathat coinage and the rise of religion during the Axial Age is supported by explaining the following concepts from our reading: that the calculation of debts, market economics, and a fundamentally different system of trading allowed a space for new philosophical thought to emerge, that the pursuit of profit became synonymous with the pursuit of personal betterment, that governments realized it was crucial to suppress the total economic gains of its citizens, and that religion was in part founded to placate the poor, listless masses. • 15. Gender Roles In Frederick Douglass The endeavor to escape slavery was an idea that pondered in the minds of slaves. While slavery influenced both genders emotionally, physically, and educationally, ultimately only the male gender was able to comprehend what it would be like to be able to flee slavery. Men took charge and became independent being able to leave slavery, whereas the women were more dependent as wives and mothers, which caused them to not be able to getaway. Douglass and Jacobs works proved this to be true as the reader sees their experiences as a slave fluctuate based on their gender. Through Douglass encounters as a slave we see how important it is for a male to participate in physical labor and then through Jacobs story, one is able to see how women were used mostly by their masters sexually. Once Abolition started everyone thought it would better the lives of men and women, but boy were they mistaken. In Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, the authors vary in the way that the men are able to escape slavery easier than woman because of the expectations of gender roles during the time and that is what shaped these two works. Throughout Douglass narrative of his life, he is able to have this image that one day he will no longer be controlled by a master and no longer be a slave and is something Linda in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, cannot ever see because her family is restricting her from this idea. Douglass has no parents or

We came from Syria, which was a beautiful place to live in before the revolution started. Most of my friends had to leave it because they don t have a place to live in anymore, their house have been destroyed. But for us, we lived in a safe area and our house is still there sheltering our cousins who didn t leave their country. But the person who took it was bad! . . From this quote I tried to replace my sad and negative thoughts with positive ones. I thought about all our cousins and relatives back in Syria, how they are still living there no matter how worse it is, they are all alive and safe. And I would prefer losing this building over losing one of them or even getting harm. This building was a beautiful thing given to us and now we gave it back, we didn t lose anyone and that is what really matters. Building can be recreated but people can not, we still can build another one. All we need to do now is forgetting about the past and what happened back then and there, and start thinking about the future to rebuild what others destroyed. As Lyndon B. Johnson said: yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose. . So I can and I will win it by staying positive and be convinced that whatever a bad thing happened it is just meant to be, and it can be a lesson or a challenge which will make you stronger and more determined to achieve your

Then the time when Bertha snuck into Jane s room, Jane thought she saw a vampire and describes her as fearful and ghastly (BrontГ« 242). Even when she finally saw Bertha in daylight she still called her a hyena. This is all in Jane s perspective, and readers take it for granted that Bertha is a monster or a ghost that roams around Thornfield Hall. Readers will never associate the word beautiful with Bertha if it was not for Mr. Rochester s description of her as similar to Blanche Ingram, and if they read Wide Sargasso Sea they will also learn of Bertha s beauty.... There is no justification for why she attacked Mr. Rochester, but instead it seems right to have her locked up in the attic so that she does not pose any danger to others. However, Rhys provided a reason for Bertha s attack on Mr. Rochester. It started out with Mr. Rochester ignoring her and cheating on her during their honeymoon. Then when Mr. Rochester brings her back to England, she is locked away in a room, and Mr. Rochester never visited her. Since she has the disease of becoming mad, Mr. Rochester s treatment just accelerated the development of her madness. Even a normal person will become mad if they are locked away in a small room for a long period of time. Given this view, it seems rather rational for Bertha to set Mr. Rochester s bed on fire, because that is her way of fighting back her oppressor. By showing the conflicts that occurred betweein Mr. Rochester and Bertha, Rhys lets the readers see that Bertha attacks Mr. Rochester, because she wants to get rid of him so that she could be free again. This shows that she is not simply a lunatic that goes around setting things on
  • 18. What Are The Destinies Of Those Who Is Habakkokkuk After the determination of God to destroy his enemies as mentioned in 1:6, it suddenly mentions about comfort to those who seek refuge in him in 1:7. Also, it says God cares for those who trust in him. Then in the next verse, the hymn moves back to the main theme of destruction. It shows a contrast of two destinies of those who take refuge of Godand those who oppose God. Why it appears at this location? The commentary refers this verse as parallel with Psalm 34:8; 100:5 and 135:3 (p.24). It suggests the absence of any names in the prophecy means that people (of Jerusalem or of Nineveh) have to decide whether they want to be people to whom verse 7 applies (care) or people to whom verse 8 applies (destruct) (p.25). I do not agree it is a choice for the people of Nineveh as in verse 8 it mentions about the unequivocal ending of Nineveh.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, after Habakkuk raises the question in 1:12 17, there seems to be a moment of silence in 2:1. Why? The commentary mentions that in some OT stories people apparently get an immediate response when they turn to Yahweh to ask something but in other people have to wait (p.65). The commentary suggests that it witnesses to the fact that Yahweh does respond but also the fact of Yahweh s freedom. I agree with the commentary that Habakkuk should not think up a response and assume it was Yahweh s. There is a difference between prophecy and theological reflection. Although there is no mention in the book, I am speculating whether Habakkuk confrontational attitude changes during that waiting period resulting in his submission to Yahweh and accepting worst situation in chapter

Societal norms are both unwritten informal rules that are accepted by people and written formal rules that are strictly enforced laws, of how people should carry themselves (Keirns, et al., 2016). Social norms are part of the socialization process. The socialization process is the way people learn the norms and beliefs of our society to fit in (Keirns, et al., 2016, n.p.). Some examples of social norms are looking into the eyes of the person you are speaking with, using silverware instead of your hands when eating, and saying excuse me when you belch in front of someone. Societal norms give myself and people guidelines of how to carry themselves in different situations. More importantly, social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gender role is described as the perception the society has on how males and females should carry themselves in terms of appearance and behaviors. Some examples of perceptions the society has on women in the home are, they need to know how to cook, take care of the children, and manage the house. I applied this sociological concept because I see the perception evident in my log. During my husband absence, I manage the house by making sure my daughter made it to school, the house stayed clean and provided my children meals. When my husband is home, and I am at work, he is usually taking on my role until I get back. When I do get back home from work, my husband basically expects me to perform the gender role of a woman in the house. Sociologists Schieman and Taylor (2001) studies stated women s role in the society are traditionally revolved around tasked that are household related. They also stated that in the society, men and women are expected to have different responsibilities within the home. Women s central role is often linked to family, even while involved in the workforce, men s core role often tends to be associated with paid employment (Schieman Taylor, 2001, p. 473). This verifies that the examples I stated earlier about the perception the society has on the gender role of women are

Creon was a tragic hero that was trying to be noble, but losing his entire family was extreme; he was set to fail from the start. In the play Creon decreed Polyneices was not to be buried. He did this as he believed that Polyneices was a traitor to Thebes. In his eyes this was a noble deed to do for his city that Polyneices had betrayed. If anyone undermined him and buried Polyneices then he saw them as un noble and must be dealt with at once. His downfall came as a result from him trying to be noble. Upholding traitors like Antigonedid is not noble. Creons entire family by the end of the play, with the exception Ismene, killed themselves. No matter
  • 22. Roy, S Reactions To Conflict In Bernard Malamud s The Natural Although Roy is the main character Bernard Malamud s The Natural, we are not directly told of his past. It is up to the reader to piece together the puzzle and interpret why Roy acts and responds in the way he does. Roy s mysterious past makes his responses to conflict the most interesting aspect of this book. There is a presence of conflict throughout the entire text: adversity with The Whammer , Bump, Gus, Memo, the Judge, and his own mental state. Although Roy reacts to conflict in a variety of ways, the reactions themselves are fueled by one motive. Roy s overall responses to conflict originate from his devastating past and family life, in addition to his need to prove to himself that he has purpose. Although we are not specifically told of Roy s past, Malamud gives away small hints and details towards what has occurred. It is revealed that Roy was not fond of his mother, and that she had a bad influence on him. Roy describes his mother as a whore that spoiled [his] old man s life (Malamud 179). He goes on by saying that she did not love anybody, including himself. Roy only lived with his mother for the first seven years of his life, followed by him moving in with his grandmother. After his grandmother passed away, he was forced to live in an orphanage. One of the first characters that is presented as someone Roy looks up to is Sam, and shortly after he is brought into the picture, Roy witnesses him perish. Ideally biopsies of abdominal subcutaneous tissue and salivary glands should be used for the Congo red staining test, and it is positive if the sample has apple green birefringence in appearance under polarized light. If the sample was inconclusive or negative, then the provider should have the affected organ biopsied to ensure an accurate diagnosis. The reason one should investigate for amyloiddeposits via more invasive biopsy techniques is due to the higher risk of mortality associated with misdiagnosis and delayed or lack of treatment. If renal biopsies are warranted, sufficient amounts of amyloid deposits can be found around the glomerular basement membranes. Urine testing for paraprotein is not specific enough for the diagnosis of AL, for many gammopathies present with this in the urine. Once biopsies are positive, then the amyloid deposits should be tested via immunofluorescence microscopy to obtain valuable information regarding its makeup. Immunohistochemistry can be used as well, but it is not as successful in providing compositional information for AL as immunofluorescence. AL should be differentiated from the other forms of amyloidosis, such as hereditary amyloidosis, inflammatory amyloidosis, and hemodialysis related amyloidosis. Randall type light chain deposition disease (LCDD) should also be included in the differential (Desport et al., 2012). To Rule Out Differential Diagnoses Jerzykowska et al. These disorders span across the lifetime, many starting by the age of 14, and mental healthcare is often the root of progress or hindrance for a person whose life is impacted by these unseen disorders. The availability heuristic is the tendency to consider events more common than they really are if they come to mind quickly or easily (Croskerry, 2002). Though the recency of seeing a disorder does not increase the base rate of its occurrence, faulty cognitions result in providers thinking this way. This bias appeared in a study exploring how likely a doctor was to say that a patient had bacteremia. In this study, the doctors judged this disease as much more probable if they had recent experience treating it, despite the base rate of infection being the same in either case. What first came to mind was not necessarily most accurate, but most salient (Klein, 2005). Particularly affected are specialized practices. Because a provider sees a specific disorder frequently, it is commonly most salient and more likely to lead to the availability bias. This heuristics poses a particular threat in ambiguous cases; the diagnosis received may depend solely on which provider evaluated the patient first (Saposnik, Redelmeier, Ruff, Tobler,

To be a member, the profession requires that the professionals to seek a license to practice for them to carry out their jobs. In no lesser way, the professional body overseeing the Electro Engineering has a number of roles. Professional bodies within the field of electro technology are tasked with a generally oversight role of the standards associated with the field. Most important of all is that the professional bodies focus on advancing electro technology. In advancing technology, the professional bodies conduct and sponsor exhibitions, symposia and technical meetings over New Zealand. Professional bodies also offer graduates a chance to network with others within the same field. These networks are used by professionals to meet and reflect upon their field of expertise. Alongside this function, the professional bodies in electro technology accredit the stipulated courses under the entire field and certify the professional competence of engineers. According to Robinson (2007), the professional body publishes professional journals to further the field. As will be observed, the professional body, under the compliance of the ethical code of conduct, deals with various complaints against professionals and implements the disciplinary procedures accordingly. Having established this mandate, it follows that they also issue a Code of Conduct to guide the
  • 26. Essay on Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths Religion, Creation Stories, and Creation Myths One of the fundamental questions that religions seek to answer is that of origin. How was man put on earth? Why and from what was he created? Who created him? What does his creation imply about the status of human beings? Some or all of these questions are answered by a religion s creation stories. Every religion s creation myths attempt to give solutions to problems present to that religious society. Because of this, each religion may have one or more creation stories, each of those different from one another in the questions they ask and the answers they give. Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman an ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and woman together, man was created first, from the dust of the ground after which God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then, while Adam was sleeping, God took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman. Another difference between the two versions of Creation, more noticeable than the afore mentioned, is in their answer of why man was created. In Genesis I, man was created to rule over all the animals. In fact, a section of Genesis I:26 reads and let [man] have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. In contrast, Genesis II:5 claims that man was created because there was no one to till the ground. The variation in each chapter s answer to why man was created provides differing implications for the status of mankind. In Genesis I, man is supposed to be the supreme ruler, while in Genesis II, man was created merely as a servant of the land. Western religions, when viewing the status of humans, tend to take the first interpretation as indication of man s role on earth, believing him to be superior to all other species. Ignoring the inconsistencies, these two chapters seem to complement each other quite well.

I am really interested in batteries and how they work and what goes into making a battery. I was inspired to this experiment mostly because I want to study electrical engineering in university and I wanted to find out the chemistry behind the production of the electrical energy in batteries. During my reading, I found out that the first battery was actually invented by Italian physicist Count Alessandro Volta and was demonstrated to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801. Constructed from alternating discs of zincand copper wit pieces of cardboard soaked in brine between the metals, this was the first battery that produced a reliable steady current of electricity. The reason why this works is because, as I found out, batteries use the process of redoxreactions to create voltage. I also found out that the difference in reactivity leads to the voltage that will be produced. Voltage is a measure of the amount of energy which each coulomb of electrons can carry. The more readily a species loses electrons, the bigger the build of potential energy and the higher the voltage. The reason why transition metals are used is because they are very good conductors of electricity and they have seas of electrons so electrons can travel within them fairly easily. There is a table that provides the results of experiments where these various compartments are connected to a hydrogen electrode. It is known as the

This is where Method acting comes into play as a way to connect to the truth, and to translate the truth for the actor s audience. Another actor who greatly benefitted from the Method is Marlon Brando. • 41. Metaphysics Essay Metaphysics Metaphysics can be defined as an attempt to comprehend the basic characteristics of reality. It is in fact so basic that it is all inclusive, whether something is observable or not. It answers questions of what things must be like in order to exist and how to differentiate from things that seem real but are not. A common thought is that reality is defined as what we can detect from our five senses. This type of philosophy is called empiricism, which is the idea that all knowledge comes from our senses. An empiricist must therefore believe that what we can see, touch, taste, smell, and hear must be real and that if we can not in fact see, touch, taste, smell, or hear something, it is definitely not real. However, this is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Other people do not believe in it. Another important aspect of metaphysics is that reality is separate from our minds. We can not affect or change things just by thinking about them. However, some metaphysicians believe that our feelings are more real than what we can sense because our feelings are first hand and come from our body. They must in fact be real because we are more aware of them. Metaphysics basically describes what people do everyday in their lives. People have a constant need to differentiate between what s real and what s not. In our everyday life, we are faced with appearances and materialistic things. Metaphysics can even relate to beauty. What s beautiful to one person may be repulsive to another and vice versa. Beauty is something that we can see, but it s not a physical object that can be sensed. Does this mean that it is not real? Empirically, yes. As people get older, they can better distinguish between real and not real. As stated in the textbook, a person must balance reality and their dreams, goals, etc, because both things are important. Fantasy, such as our dreams and goals, are part of being human and for some people, it is a purpose of life. If we only lived in reality, there would be nothing to strive for because everyone would live based on what we know from our five senses. As long as people can keep a balance between the two, they can live a normal life in which they know what s real, but they can

Jim Jones And The Jonestown Massacre Jim Jones and the Jonestown Massacre November 18, 1978, altered America, but the process leading up to that day began much earlier by a mind only described as perverse. The Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ, Peoples Temple as it is commonly referred, led by James Warren Jones blazed its own way into the history books with what is still one of the most disastrous endings of a movement. Jim Jones is known for founding the most infamous cult in American history; his reputation revolves around the manipulation of a population, professing skewed values, controlling that population, and eventually destroying what he created in a final act of domination. As he grew up he began finding his interest in religion as he attended churches around town, eventually obtaining a friendship with a minister at the Pentecostal church (Biography.com Editors, 2014). This friendship truly marked the beginning of Jones religious fanaticism as it led to him preaching to/at his community and friends, even though he only could hold a few. His devout nature drove away many, but it was his view on other s behaviors that really caused his lack of friendships. He regarded many behaviors to be sinful or wrong, which caused an anger towards the boys who portrayed them if not a hostility. In her research paper, Antoinette Pick Jones (2007) provides the example ...Jim was so upset with one of his friends for going home rather than going out and witnessing, that he grabbed his father s gun and shot at the boys... which shows just how far Jones would go if he felt like someone was acting in a sinful manner. In terms of education Jones had a successful one that eventually led to him continuing onto undergraduate work at Butler University and graduate studies at Indiana University. Right out of high school he married a young woman, Marceline Baldwin, who was a nursing student that also had a passion for Christianity that fit with his (Peterson, 2005). His area of concern revolved around integration and communities that didn t have representation in both religion and ordinary public affairs; a
  • 46. Machiavellianism In Much Ado About Nothing Machiavellianism is seen by many people as describing others as being evil, selfish, and only doing things to benefit them or make them feel good. In the book Much Ado About Nothing, there is many examples of Machiavellianism through characters like Don Jon, and Borachio. Only one of those can take the throne, so to end the debate, Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon due to his plan for Claudio, his evil actions during the planning, and execution phases of that. The first reason to show that Borachio is more Machiavellian than Don Jon is, because he s the one that actually got the idea to trick Claudio that Hero is cheating, and his more evil personnel. In Act 2 Scene 2, Don Jon tells Borachio that Claudio will marry Hero, and Borachio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Borachio, and Conrad are talking about the plan, while being drunk, well even before the plan Borachio shows many signs of Machiavellianism. Before discussing the actual plan, Borachio says a line stating Thou shouldst rather ask if it were possible any villainy should be so rich. For when rich Villains have need of poor ones, poor ones may make what price they will (Shakespeare 55). In this line Borachio is being disrespectful to those less fortunate people, and saying that how can a Villain be so rich? As he himself is one of the villains of this plot, he is acting like those highly ranked jerks that only care about themself, as he is also saying that poor people don t really have many choices of luxury as him. Would people want everyone to act like Borachio? Sliding into the next reason that how he decided to deliver, and execute the plan, Borachio tells Conrad word for word what they had setup. On one part of the explanation he offends ancient people called Pharaohs soldiers which the side notes state are people drowned in the Red Sea, and he totally disrespects them. Next he legitimately states that he is telling this story highly offensive, with intention. Lastly, Borachio he took all the credit of the plan, was being selfish only to make himself feel better not giving kudos to anything else, by saying ...partly by the dark night, which did deceive them, but chiefly by my villainy. This just show he is not accepting the fact that he didn t do everything himself, and some was luck rather than skill. Borachio is just a ruthless bastard, by how he went on to carry out, and spread the
  • 47. Analyzing The Moments Of Life Come From Having Crucial... Many defining moments in life come from having crucial conversations (as these create significant shifts in attitude and behavior). This book focuses on techniques on how to hold such conversations in a positive space when surrounded by highly charged emotions. Their findings are based on 25 years of research with 20,000 people. Their model has essentially 7 steps: 1.Start with the heart (i.e. empathy and positive intent) 2.Stay in dialogue 3.Make it safe 4.Don t get hooked by emotion (or hook them) 5.Agree a mutual purpose 6.Separate facts from story 7.Agree a clear action plan Our success in life is dictated by the quality of relationships we can engender. Some people seem better at negotiating better quality outcomes (for all) than others do they work with people rather than through people. They are able to hold deeper, more honest conversations that create a new level of bonding and are able to transform people, situations and relationships. By being prepared to hold these conversations (often early) they ensure clarity over responsibility, define expectations and hence maintain high levels of performance. When we let these conversations go by, we let standards slip and unwittingly give permission for unwanted behavior to continue. Crucial conversations lie all around us all the time: from performance appraisals at work, up to discussing problems over sexual intimacy. The skills we need in the boardroom are the same skills we need in the bedroom.
