Literature Review On Communication Satisfaction
LITERATURE REVIEW Communication Satisfaction
Engin and Akgöz (2013) explains communication satisfaction as a criteria or a theory constructing
concept about the upward and downward communication among executives and employees containing
work related information. They state that when an employee is satisfied with the communication
within the organization, it is expected that they will perform and be at their best. However,
misunderstandings from the inability of managers to communicate effectively to their subordinates
lead to poor performance (Chitrao, 2014). According to Greenbaum, Clampitt, and Willihnganz
(1988), the Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire has been proven to be the most widely used
method to measure organizational communication satisfaction. Downs and Clampitt developed the
questionnaire and eventually did a critical review on studies of communication satisfaction (as cited in
Engin and Akgöz, 2013) and Zwije Koning De Jong (2007) evaluated the communication satisfaction
questionnaire and compared it to the critical incident technique to see which method is better to
measure communication satisfaction. They mention that employee attitude and judgment in many
communication practices are the main focus of the questionnaire as these factors show the influence of
communication satisfaction on employee behavior. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Outsourcing Of The National Labor Committee Thinks Otherwise
American companies and their products, have increasingly been pursed to be manufactured abroad.
This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many
businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the
National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcing has become one of the leading factors in
product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in the
US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand
growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall in
China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was found
to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers. (Lu, Ng,
Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how Outsourcing involves
contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components with pre specified quality
levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product quality is never fully tested
when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to aby with, and once met the
product may be produced. As a consumer there is nothing more important than a products quality and
reputation. It would be ethically unfair to a consumer to save their hard earned money in

Analysis Of Mayor Muriel Bowser s Leadership Style
(Associated Press). These are also amongst some of the everyday pressing concerns of residents of
Washington DC.
Therefore, her leadership style is unique, due to the early influences in her love of living in
Washington DC and working alongside of her father and Mayor Fenty with politics (Jaffee, 2014).
Many of the qualities of compassion and understanding of the needs of citizens are derived from the
sincerity she has witnessed her father provide.

This program will also improve the city in long term goals by having individuals who are highly
qualified and completes their jobs more effectively. This enhancement in the education and training of
employees can be documented by the human resources department and also quarterly reviews of
productivity of each employee. Transparency in leadership practices is important due to the increase in
corruption amongst governmental official. An incident in which recently took place with Mayor
Bowser includes her new plans to shut down a previous homeless shelter at DC General within a
certain timeline. Individuals would then transfer to new housing in which Mayor Bowser found
private property in which the city would pay for this transitional housing from its budget. Council
members became suspicious when Mayor Bowser would not discuss how the property and zoning
permits were acquired, but the private owners of the property were known as large contributors to her
campaign. These types of practices cause suspicion and speculation of leaders, especially in a city
which deems such a corrupt history from Mayor Barry and Mayor Fenty. According to Arzumanyan,
leadership requires publicity and openness of the leader and his or her team (Arzumanyan, 2016).
Within transparency and openness of the political agenda of members of the DC Counsel, there will be
a regained sense of trust amongst citizens and officials. Another tool in which Mayor

The Godfather the Movie Essay
The Godfather the Movie
THE GODFATHER, made in 1974, details the Corleone crime family in Manhattan during the mid
1930s. The Don, Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando, leads his organization against a relentless
narcotics push by a rival family, the Sollozzos. Vito Caleone does not want anything to do with drugs
because he believes they will be the downfall of the Mafia. The story, covering a ten year time period,
offers a rich tapestry of Mafia life from the inside, drawing the audience into witnessing the transfer of
power within a close knit family

Special effects play a huge roll in modern day films; they are mainly used to grab the attention of the
audience. In the making of THE GODFATHER, very few special effects were used. The director,
Francis Ford Coppola was able to capture the audience s attention with a terrific cast, and a
captivating story line. The movie explores many aspects of real life such as family responsibility, a
father s legacy, the need to earn respect and the corrupting influence of power. These are some of the
ingredients combined in Francis Ford Coppola s masterpiece. The movie ran close to three hours and
every scene was better then the last; not boring the viewer throughout the entire performance.
Throughout the film, Michael Corleone played brilliantly by Al Pacino, experiences a major change in
his way of thinking. Michael changes from believing that what his family does is wrong, to believing
that his family s crimes are a necessary evil. He begins by insisting to his girlfriend that his family s
crimes belong to his family, not to him. He was not involved in the business and did not want anything
to do with it.
By the end of the movie, most of the Corleone family have been murdered. Michael organizes the
execution of several people within the other crime families as the Corleon family s new Don, having
reasoned that these murders are necessary. Feeling that he must follow in his father s footsteps he
transforms from an innocent bystander to the central manipulator.

Eliot And His Problems In Shakespeare s Hamlet And His...
Eliot and His Problems
Among the twenty essays published by T.S Eliot in The Sacred Wood: Essays on Poetry and Criticism
, one cannot help but notice the provocatively titled critique of Shakespeare s play Hamlet, Hamlet
and His Problems . In his essay, Eliot argues that Hamlet is an artistic failure (Eliot 1). Again, he
bluntly states that one is to come to the irrefragable (Eliot 2) conclusion that Shakespeare tackled a
problem which proved too much for him (Eliot 4). Upon closer examination of the play in question,
one is to quickly find that Eliot s provoking thesis has no root in logic and common sense. In fact, it is
evident the title character s delayed revenge is validly explained in the protagonist s characterisation;
pathos is achieved throughout the play and that the emotion elicited by the dramatist in the main
character was expertly illustrated in the text contrary to the author s expressed opinion.
To begin, Eliot argues that Shakespeare s Hamlet is a non complete alteration of previous revenge
plays such as The Spanish Tragedy. For instance, he states that in the Shakespearean edition, the
theme of revenge is unexplained on grounds of necessity or expediency (Eliot 2). Again, he adds that
it is overtaken by a motive which is more important. Firstly, the author s argument is incomplete as he
fails to mention and argue the other motive which overtakes that of revenge. Also, one is to come to
the logical conclusion that the delay in revenge by Hamlet is

Essay About My Dream
Let me first start off by asking you a question, do you have a dream you are satisfied with? Do you
think your dream is good enough to make/keep you happy for the rest of your life in the future? Now
remember those questions and keep your answer in mind as you read this. At the very end, did your
answer change or stay the same? We shall see.
We all have dreams whether it s the one you get while sleeping, daydreaming in class, or the dream

Passion gives you a goal or a dream to chase after too. Another quote I hear pretty often is Have
Outstanding Passion Every Day! CollegeTrack. We strive with outstanding passion in whatever we do,
whether is completing a homework assignment, doing a sport, club activities, and just in life in
general. Having this passion gives you something to look forward to every day instead of mindlessly
getting up to go to school or work to do the same generic tasks everyday. Everyday is a new day,
which means there are new challenges, by having a passion it gives you the motivation, the excitement
to conquer new challenges. Think of it as Candy Crush, you worked on a single level for days and you
finally passed that level, the sense of accomplishment encourages you to pass the next level and so
forth. The kind of people with the most amount of passion are CEO and entrepreneurs because they
get to enjoy their creations in their business every day, solve a new problem in their business or create
another branch of their franchise. For example, Bart Kwan and Joe Jo of JustKiddingFilms, who are
very passionate about film and comedy, combined their two interests and created a YouTube franchise
where they dedicate themselves to making comedic videos. Another example would be myself. I am
very passionate about happiness, wary of others feelings, tend to know when one is happy or sad, and
know how to properly comfort someone. I dedicate my free time to making sure the people around me

Conversion Hysteria
Sigmund Freud, neurologist and founder of psychoanalysis, was originally interested in the scientific
side of medicine and was especially intrigued by the brain. He attended medical school in Vienna with
the aspiration to become a medical researcher. From this he was offered a fellowship to study in Paris
with neurologist, Jean Charcot. Charcot treated Conversion Hysteria patients using hypnosis.
Conversion hysteria is a psychological disorder in which the patients experience physical symptoms
but have no evidence of any medical condition. Charcot believed that a traumatic event in someones
life could trigger an emotional response that caused these symptoms. Later, Freud returned to Vienna
and starting working with Josef Breuer, a physician who was treating hysterics. Breuer was somewhat
successful in treating patients with hypnosis. One of his patients, Anna was his most successful and

The Movie Running Scared By Paul Walker
The movie Running Scared (2006) with Paul Walker is full of ethical dilemmas from the start. Low
level thug Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker) was supposed to dispose of dirty guns that were used to kill two
police officers. Instead, he hid them in his basement to be found by Oleg, Joey s son s best friend and
neighbor. Oleg s stepfather was an abuser who came from the Russian mob. He abused his wife and
Oleg on a daily basis so Oleg stole the gun to shoot his stepfather in order to save his mom and
himself and he ran away after the incident. Joey needed to get the gun back in order to save his life
since he was supposed to dispose of it since it was a wanted weapon. The police did not know what
sort of weapon they were looking for.
Once the men higher up in the Mafia than Joey got news that there was a shooting and the weapon
might have been theirs, the heat was on. Joey spent all night trying to find Oleg which sent them both
through an adventurous, scary trip.
Ethics play a major role in this movie. The first ethical dilemma that the viewers are faced with is the
fact that Oleg s step father is abusive. He has no respect for Mila, Oleg s mom. He beats her and
starves Oleg. Oleg is seen as the growing boy in the house, not yet the man, but he wants to care for
his mother and protect her. This poses a problem: he wants to save his mother but in order to do that
he must eliminate his dad. Though his intentions are good his actions are illegal. He also stole the gun,

Old Sturbridge Magazine Uses Both Pathos And Logos
Old Sturbridge Village is a living historical museum located in Sturbridge, Massachusetts; the
organization released an advertisement in Yankee Magazine. Yankee magazine focuses on unique
places and facts regarding the New England region. The advertisement uses appeals to logos, ethos,
and pathos to encourage people to visit and stay at Old Sturbridge Village. The appeal to logos is not
as apparent as the others in the advertisement with only few supporting elements, describing their size
and services. Ethos shares some similar statements as the logos appeal, but rather uses it to lend itself
credibility as the largest living museum. Old Sturbridge Village primarily uses an appeal to pathos to

The way pathos is used in the ad for Old Sturbridge Village is to generate an emotional connection to
the people of the past. The central image of the advertisement is of a man in clothing and appearance
accurate to the period of the 1830 s; he is standing next to two yoked heads of cattle. Using this image,
the advertisement hopes to equate certain unspoken qualities with the audience, as detailed in The
Rhetoric of Advertising. The first of the phrases used Celebrating the People, (citation) utilizes the
word celebrate to make it seem as if the heritage is something to be excited and happy about.

Inventing Historical Truth On The Silver Screen Analysis
When viewing films of the past, we then form a counter discourse because we can compare it to
modern day views and beliefs. The article, Inventing Historical Truth on the Silver Screen, by Robert
Rosenstone, explains having a current perspective on history and how we interpret it. Written
historical documents can only be backed up by truth so far. These films Amistad, 1776, and The Black
Robe, can help form ideas of what might have happened, but that is what they are used for, to help
mold and shape historical events to the present day.
It is clear and obvious that slavery is wrong and never should have happened, but certain people
decided differently. Of course we do not obtain video footage of such historical event and go off of
verbal and written documentation, but the movie Amistad, goes into detail about how the slaves were
treated. It was inhumane and they were treated worse than animals. They were captured, traded in
from their own people, beaten, killed, raped, separated from families, forced to work and do things no
one should ever have to go through. But for public purposes, it did not show everything they went
through. The movie definitely softens certain clips for the reason of who might watch the film and for
what they would be allowed to film and produce. A few examples would be when the shipmen were
softly kissing on the women slaves on the boat, how the movie portrayed the selling of slaves, and
how Baldwin received one swat on his head and a few death letters. ... Show more content on

Individuals should be allowed their privacy in all manners of lifestyles as long as their actions are
deemed legal within the realms of their culture. Due to the exponential development of technology
over the past century, the personal lives of women, men, and children alike no longer are granted the

and other rodents are a threat to the Chicagoland area, because the pests carry various diseases and

funding for the pest control. Based on evidence gathered by analytics, not only is there a problem with
vermin such rats, mice, bed bugs, spider and ants, but also with roof bunnies which are not your
normal fluffy tail wagging easter egg carrying bunnies they are famished and carry plague. I believe
that this is a threat to young children, because they could think it is just cute bunny and try to pet the
rodent and it could bite them and give rabies and other terrible things. Statistics show that in Chicago
area there are two types of rat which is the roof rat and Norway rat and one type of mouse which is the
house mouse. All three of these type of mice are non native and don t hibernate, so they don t seem to

Slaughter from the Native Americans combined with famine reduced the population of colonists in

during what was called the starving time, Nay, so great was our famine that a savage we slew and

My College Admission Essay To College
When I was 7, my mom took me to New York City to visit my aunt. My aunt took us around the city
and pointed out the NYU campus and she said that someday I could go there when I was older.
When I was 7, I had dreams of being a veterinarian but like many kids, I was fickle. This aspiration
quickly cycled out with the others and as time went on I got wrapped up in school work and
disregarded a career and college up until now.
Now I m 17 and filling out a plethora of college applications. To be honest, choosing a college is
overwhelming. When I first began this college process, I had no idea where to start, but this memory
struck me. I decided to look more into NYU and I scheduled a college visit in September. When I
visited the college I didn t know what to expect but when I left I knew that NYU comprised of
everything I was looking for in a college. Its nontraditional campus would not only foster my
education but my character. Having the opportunity to attend NYU, I would gain more insight that I
could take with me for my future whereas other colleges would not give me this insight. ... Show more

The Ultimate Motive In Voltaire s Candide
The slaying of a mythical beast, a battle between opposing cavalries, the search for prosperity and
riches. A quest generally has a stated motive, such as the events stated, and a more clandestine motive,
often not revealed to the audience until the end of the story. In Voltaire s Candide, while the apparent
intent for Candide through most of the story is to rescue the damsel in distress, the ultimate motive
reveal takes Candide traversing insurmountable obstacles. The quest format utilized by Voltaire is vital
to the story, The format allows Voltaire to destroy the naivete of the audience and satirize ideas that
were the foundations of the lives of men.
When the audience reads Candide, they first learn about his upbringing. Living comfortably in the lap
of wealth, and learning from renowned philosophers, Candide cradles the world in his palms. While
learning Pangloss s Everything is for the greater good philosophy, Candide absorbs a plethora of naive
wisdom. Candide s cushy bubble crumbles, however, once he kisses the Baron s daughter, Cunegonde.
Candide is thrust into the unrelenting reality of the harsh world when the Baron banished him from his
estate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pangloss s death is a detriment to Candide s faith in both the philosophy and even Candide himself.
While witnessing Pangloss s death, Candide proclaims If this was the best of possible worlds, what
then are the others? This statement shows the seed of doubt as been sowed into Candide s mind. While
this seems to be a setback in his quest, it actually advances him closer to the actual goal: self
knowledge and comprehension about suffering. This statement also shows the satirical nature of this
novel. The third and largest crack in the philosophy and the candor of the audience is the posed
question If everything is for the greater good, and we live in the best possible worlds, why is there still
suffering in this

English Speech About Big World and on Her Knees by Tim Winton
English Speech: How would you feel if your mother had to clean other people s houses to make a
living? How far would you really go for a friend, would you sacrifice a love life, your education? Out
of all the books I have read, I absolutely love Tim Winton s short stories, 2 short stories that I loved
are On Her knees and Big World . I have particularly enjoyed On her knees not only because of its
intriguing name but because it depicts the issue of dignity throughout the whole story and it taught me
that there is more honor in scrubbing other people s floors than in having strangers scrub your own ,
the second story Big World depicts the issue of friendship which also teaches me that Friendship can

A technique that shows dignity is symbolism. For example: the action of the boy taking a shower can
be translated into a wanting to escape form this situation. The mother is said to give the boy a lecture ,
which suggests that she is in control leading to another symbol of imprisonment for the boy. The car is
another clever use of symbolism where the car represents the boy s life. It is said to be reeking which
shows that the narrator hates his life. The cranking down of the window represents a desire to escape.
The mother is said to be driving carefully which shows two things: a) that she is in control of his life
and b) that she makes sure she takes the safest route, protecting her son from harm. Not only have
both of these short stories alienated me in such a way, but I found these stories surprisingly beautiful, I
highly advise for you to read these two great short stories, because the next time you are facing
troubles in life, you remember what Carol Lang had to go through in life, remember what happens

Theme Of Blank Sonnet
A distinguished sense of hollowness, and darkness is discernable in George Elliot Clarke s poem
Blank Sonnet . This poem expresses, the author s difficult and awkward communication with a lover
through a broken relationship. word choice and imagery is imperative to the overall effect and tone of
the poem. The usage of an atypical sonnet stylization, broken sentences, forms of metaphors,
symbolism, sensory language, and alliteration form strong imagery, and a sense of disconnect. The
overall effect leaves the reader with a resonating feeling of emptiness.
The main theme within Clarke s Sonnet is his distance and inability to communicate with a lover. This
poem is written for his lover as an attempt to connect with her, although within the poem, he is
continuing to communicate poorly. The way in which he copes with this broken relationship drives the
tone of the poem.
A common theme throughout the poem is the coping mechanism used for his troubled relationship. He
does not view his alcoholism as a fault, but as a comfort and an escape. He yearns to sleep beneath a
patchwork quilt of rum . (Clarke 6) Furthermore, he wishes to drink until he is unaware that his
relationship is troubled. He wishes for the slow collapse of language / [w]ashed out by alcohol.
(Clarke 7 8) He desires to detach, and isolate himself from the situation mentally, rather than remove
himself physically. This suggests that he has no wish to recover from his alcoholism, and no desire to

Scarlet Letter Heroine Quotes
Hester is Woman: Hear Her Roar
In the 1850 s, America was undergoing a massive internal changes via the industrial revolution. With
this new era, American culture was drastically changed as women started to take a more prominent
role in American society. In his novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne attempts to stimulate
this change by illustrating the positive influence of a strong female character in a Puritanical society
through his heroine, Hester Prynne, by putting her in a scandalous situation capable of drawing out the
worst in people.
Hester displays acts of courage that portray her as a heroic character. Hester clearly suffers from her
punishment of having to wear the scarlet letter A in public as she attempts to maintain ... Show more

An early example of this is how she handles her service to others. Even while being harassed by the
general public, Hester Prynne continues to make these sacrifices which are only rewarded with hatred
and insults. Hester foregoes her own pleasures, except for the lavish decoration of her infant, and
bestows the rest of her wealth on wretches less miserable than herself (Hawthorne 75). She even
continues to aid the poor despite the fact that they not unfrequently insulted the hand that fed them
(Hawthorne 75). Despite the fact that it was in Hester s best interests not to aid those around her, she
continued to do so. This evidences her sheer strength of character as the heroine of the novel. Hester s
loyalty is also magnified by her selfless nature, as her willingness to sacrifice lends itself well to
remaining loyal to others. Hester also selflessly bears the burden of the entire community s sin. Hester
perceives the hidden sin in other hearts around her and because her sin has been uncovered, she alone
bears the penalty for deviancy (Taylor). A prime example of this is once again her refusal to reveal
Dimmesdale as her child s father. In resisting their efforts to uncover him, Hester states to the clergy: I
might endure his agony, as well as mine! (Hawthorne 63). Here, her loyalty is greatly supplemented
by her willingness to suffer in place

The Buddha s Charter Of Free Inquiry
Many people have participated in the discussion regarding the Kālāma Sutta. Unfortunately, a bundle
of people only focus on a single passage and misrepresent the whole sutta. More details of this will be
explored further in the later section, Buddhism and Authority.
In The Buddha s Charter of Free Inquiry Soma Thera says that the Kālāma Sutta is teaching to the
Kālāmas but is also an incentive of free inquiry. The teaching is exemption from the authoritative
dogmas, intolerance and personal interest. He further insisted that if one were to discern the discourse
correctly, wisdom is processed throughout. The sutta, he said, is very obvious in rejecting the bad and
adopting the good way... the place of critical examination and analysis in the development of right
vision. Buddha s insight into the matter of judgment is beyond our normal understanding. As the four
solaces show that a noble life is not about faith in rebirth and retribution. Instead, it is about happiness
of the mind by conquering our own avarice, enmity, and ignorance. Basically, the teaching is for
everyone.
Soma Thera concluded his essay by citing a short conversation between Moncure D. Conway and
Ponnambalam Ramanathan, who follow different faiths but come together and listen to the discourse
of the Kālāmas and profess this good doctrine is essential to humanity development.
However, scholar and monastic Bhikkhu Bodhi has a different perspective on the Kālāma Sutta. In his

Computer Science That Has Evolved From Pattern Recognition...
Machine Learning is a sub discipline of Computer Science that has evolved from Pattern Recognition
and Computational Learning Theory. ML is akin to Data Mining in the sense that both approaches
look for patterns in the data set and while the former trains the program to better its understanding, the
latter focuses on extraction of data for human comprehension. A typical application employing ML
would involve the design and construction of an algorithm where the program is trained through huge
samples of historical data to create a model. This model is later utilized on real time data sets to
predict what happens next. While Machine Learning itself has been around for decades, it has found
itself into reckoning with the advent of Big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amazon Web Services S3 or Microsoft s Azure are few amongst the various cloud services currently
available that allow users to store massive amounts data at unbelievably low costs.
With massive data at disposal comes the huge potential to analyze this data to draw inferences or
predict future events. But why exactly is Machine Learning moving to the cloud? A compelling reason
to move to the cloud would be the varying computational requirements in the ML lifecycle. The
process of training/ retraining your model requires enormous computation power and resources, while
the process of utilizing your trained models does not require any resources. The varying workload of
the ML lifecycle makes it an ideal candidate for the cloud. Cloud Computing is a powerful technology
that allows complex computations on massive scale data by eliminating the need to maintain dedicated
storage space or maintain expensive hardware. Also it follows intuitively to train your models in the
cloud where the data is stored. Prior to the advent of cloud based ML platforms, the only way to do
advanced analytics was to purchase packages such as SAS or IBM s SPSS or resort to tools like R.
The cloud based platforms make Machine Learning more accessible to a large group of users who
intend to deploy predictive models in order to enhance their products or services.

Showboat
This paper is a critique of a production of Show Boat, a musical classic with compositions by Jerome
Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, which was performed and produced by NETworks
Presentations LLC at Emens Auditorium on the 14th of February 2001. Clayton Phillips, the director
of the production, attempted to test the waters of racial discrimination by exploring controversial
themes such as prejudice and interracial relationships. Show Boat takes an enlightened approach to
ethnic controversy by using both music and drama to express the feelings and hopes of the characters

The scenes and props complimented the attire of the performers, blending together create a
magnificent display. The scenery was realistic enough to afford the viewer an escape into depths of the
show. The setting was beautiful and the structures almost lifelike, excepting the absence of a front
screen door. It seems that almost all plays and television shows I have viewed neglect this detail. The
stage lighting played a key role in the show by setting the mood of the performance during soulful,
pensive songs. In contrast, the lighting proved to be a detriment by overbearing the performance of the
artists, in that one s attention was drawn to the glare of extreme quantities of makeup rather than the
actions of the characters. This was most notable during the final portions of the production.
The entertainers gave their characters genuine life through their gestures, attitude and charm. Even the
way the voices led one to believe that the characters were actually presenting their own thoughts and
ideas, not those of fictional characters. During the play, the voices of the performers were quite
audible, excepting certain musical presentations when the lyrics of the songs were at points nearly
indiscernible. Even with consideration given to this technical glitch, the sound quality was quite
agreeable and the songs enjoyable. The voices of the performers were strong

Similarities And Differences Between The Mesoamerica And...
Mesoamerica have been connected the North and South America culturally and geographically
throughout the history. Mesoamerican culture and aspects heavily influenced southwestern United
States, being the frontier borderline between North America and Mesoamerica. It is very important to
study the relationship between the Mesoamerica and American Southwest because American
Southwest contains various elements of Mesoamerican culture and this provides fundamental
information about human behaviors, history, interactions, and tradition in America. Our group has
selected Agriculture, Architecture, Religion, and Trade as our categories to analyze the relationship
between American southwest and Mesoamerica. Fair trade, we will focus on scarlet macaws and how
it got traded from Mesoamerica in the American southwest and its significance. For architecture, we
will compare the ball courts of Hohokam and that of Mesoamerica. Significance of ball courts and
how it got introduced into the American southwest from Mesoamerica will be discussed as well.
Religion will be analyzed by focusing on the cosmological beliefs of both groups and the similarities
and differences between Mesoamerican cosmology and American southwest cosmology.
My focus is on the agriculture and maize domestication of both areas. Maize was first domesticated in
Mesoamerica, southern Mexico about 9000 years ago and dispersed into the southwestern United
States during the late middle archaic period.

Challenges Facing Sports Facilities Managers
Challenges Facing Sports Facility Managers Planning and managing a sport venue during any event
can be challenging even to the most seasoned facility managers. There are many factors that a facility
manager must consider in order to ensure the event is a success. Success of an event can be measured
in many ways across a wide array of topics; two of which are crowd management and alcohol
management. Having a solid plan and operational controls in place for both can lead to a fun and safe
environment for all parties involved with any event.
Crowd Management Ammon and Southhall (2004) define crowd management as an organization tool
used to assist facility managers in providing a safe and enjoyable environment for their guests by
implementing facility/event policies and procedures (p. 145). Part of the process for ensuring a safe
event is to identify any foreseeable duties and to develop a plan.
Duties
One of the main responsibilities of a facility manager to control a crowd is to account for every
spectator that has entered into the facility. Facility managers should be able to anticipate and recognize
and potential crowd management problems. Movement throughout the facility is a major safety
concern and is just as important as the ingress and egress of patrons (Ammon et al, 2004, p. 145). It is
the facility manager s role to ensure vendors are not blocking emergency evacuation routes as well as
ensuring spectators are not loitering in aisles or thoroughfares. Prior

The Killer Angels tell about the Battle of Gettysburg. When this battle ended, 51,000 men were dead,

characters and the plot effectively to contribute to the theme. The soldiers of the Confederacy and the

General James Longstreet were a few main characters throughout The Killer Angels. Robert Lee is the

Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black stated The United States is entirely a creature of the Constitution.

Women In James Bond Films
Women are deemed as a minority yet make up 51% of the world population and in 2014 made up only
12% of protagonists in films. And that is just on screen, the percentage decreases as you go farther and

ethnicity and those characters percentages decline even more (Lauzen, 2015.) Women in film and
television are often portrayed with emphasis based on their body type and in advertisement are largely
objectified. The large objectification and misrepresentation of women in the media has led to an offset
psychological view of women from growing up to adulthood. The constant portrayal of women as an

revolves round the trial of Miss Benare. Her role eclipses the roles of her male counterparts. In love,
she is cheated twice; first by her maternal uncle and later by Prof. Damle, her loving companion.
However, in the first event, the guilt passes unnoticed and hence, unpunished. But, in the other one,

He belongs not only to the late 18th century Peshwa regime but can be seen in any period of human
history and in any corner of the globe. His rise and growth to power from Savaldas to the most
controversial Kotwal of Poona is symbolic of the magnitude of corruption in our society. So, the
incident in the play is historical but the way in which it is treated renders it universal. According to
Girish Karnad, ...in Ghashiram Kotwal, Tendulkar uses Dashavatara a traditional semi classical form,

In A Friend s Story (1981), Tendulkar uses his pen to investigate the crisis of the community of
homosexuals who are treated as sick and immoral in a society that only accepts and permits sex

written in the mid 50s. It was based on the life of a girl who lived in Pune. Tendulkar, in this play, for

Who Is Petruchio In The Taming Of The Shrew
While the conclusion of The Taming of the Shrew seems to suggest that Kate s opinionated, obstinate
behavior has been subdued by Petruchio, further in depth analysis of her character reveals that she is
merely acting as the stereotypical submissive wife. The entire plot of this comedy revolves around the
challenge of finding a husband for Katherine the wild hawk and is driven by the recurring themes of
deceit and trickery (18). For example, Lucentio disguises himself as the schoolteacher Cambio to
become closer to and woo Bianca. Hortensio, also hoping to win Bianca s hand, plays the role as the
music teacher Litio. Arriving in Padua seeking a wealthy wife, Petruchio assumes several personas to
wed Katherine and tame her wild behavior. Each character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While traveling to Baptista s residence, Petruchio comments on how the moon is bright, even though
it is clearly the sun. Despite Katherine s protests, Petruchio refuses to correct himself and insists on
returning home until she agrees with him. She pleads, Forward, I pray, since we have come so far, And
it be the moon, or sun or what you please...Henceforth I vow it shall be so for me (62). Katherine does
not truly believe Petruchio. The primary reason she has chosen to be submissive to him is to avoid his
cruel punishments when she does not comply with his decisions. After experiencing his abuse, she
realizes that her life benefits more when acting as the dutiful wife. Thus, Katherine conceals her true
independent character. By the conclusion of the play, none of the characters are persuaded that
Katherine has been tamed. Lucentio proclaims in the final line, Tis a wonder, by your leaue, she will
be tam d so (75). Lucentio doubts Petruchio s methods were truly successful in transforming her into

outs covered in this manual (performed at the PSU Abington gym) bench press, deadlift, and squat
bench press is the hardest to fully master. This work out will test upper body strength and power.
There are benefits from mastering or trying to master bench press: Bench press helps the upper body
gain muscle and get stronger. Finding a technique that works the best can make benching much easier
for the lifter. People who bench press with the wrong technique will lead to injuries. Injuries can take
time to heal, some people might take up to one week to heal. With the right instructions and technique
there will be no major injuries while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unfortunately, the majority don t know how to actually perform it correctly (Smith). Some people do
not know how to bench press correctly. When it is done wrong then there will be serious injuries.
IMPORTANT: Always have a spotter when doing bench press. A spotter is someone who stands

Literature Review On Communication Satisfaction LITERATURE REVIEW Communication Satisfaction Engin and Akgöz (2013) explains communication satisfaction as a criteria or a theory constructing concept about the upward and downward communication among executives and employees containing work related information. They state that when an employee is satisfied with the communication within the organization, it is expected that they will perform and be at their best. However, misunderstandings from the inability of managers to communicate effectively to their subordinates lead to poor performance (Chitrao, 2014). According to Greenbaum, Clampitt, and Willihnganz (1988), the Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire has been proven to be the most widely used method to measure organizational communication satisfaction. Downs and Clampitt developed the questionnaire and eventually did a critical review on studies of communication satisfaction (as cited in Engin and Akgöz, 2013) and Zwije Koning De Jong (2007) evaluated the communication satisfaction questionnaire and compared it to the critical incident technique to see which method is better to measure communication satisfaction. They mention that employee attitude and judgment in many communication practices are the main focus of the questionnaire as these factors show the influence of communication satisfaction on employee behavior. ... This however is one of the biggest discrepancies we confront within our economy. Although many businesses argue this is beneficial in order for them to turn a higher profit and be successful, the National Labor Committee thinks otherwise. Outsourcing has become one of the leading factors in product recalls, exploitation of workers, and a major contributor to the unemployment statistics in the US. Although outsourcing is a contributor to mass production and a products supply and demand growth, it has also been known for some of the largest product recalls. In the largest product recall in China in 2008, the baby formula of Sanlu (the largest company in the industry by volume was found to contain melamine originated from contaminated milk supply outsourced to local farmers. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). Lu, Ng, Tao simplify the term outsourcing by expressing how Outsourcing involves contracting with external suppliers for the delivery of parts and components with pre specified quality levels. (Lu, Ng, Tao, 2012, p. 2). This is a clear indication that product quality is never fully tested when outsourcing. Quality controllers are given a general guideline to aby with, and once met the product may be produced. As a consumer there is nothing more important than a products quality and reputation. • 6. Eliot And His Problems In Shakespeare s Hamlet And His... Eliot and His Problems Among the twenty essays published by T.S Eliot in The Sacred Wood: Essays on Poetry and Criticism , one cannot help but notice the provocatively titled critique of Shakespeare s play Hamlet, Hamlet and His Problems . In his essay, Eliot argues that Hamlet is an artistic failure (Eliot 1). Again, he bluntly states that one is to come to the irrefragable (Eliot 2) conclusion that Shakespeare tackled a problem which proved too much for him (Eliot 4). Upon closer examination of the play in question, one is to quickly find that Eliot s provoking thesis has no root in logic and common sense. In fact, it is evident the title character s delayed revenge is validly explained in the protagonist s characterisation; pathos is achieved throughout the play and that the emotion elicited by the dramatist in the main character was expertly illustrated in the text contrary to the author s expressed opinion. To begin, Eliot argues that Shakespeare s Hamlet is a non complete alteration of previous revenge plays such as The Spanish Tragedy. For instance, he states that in the Shakespearean edition, the theme of revenge is unexplained on grounds of necessity or expediency (Eliot 2). Again, he adds that it is overtaken by a motive which is more important. Firstly, the author s argument is incomplete as he fails to mention and argue the other motive which overtakes that of revenge. Also, one is to come to the logical conclusion that the delay in revenge by Hamlet is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The article, Inventing Historical Truth on the Silver Screen, by Robert Rosenstone, explains having a current perspective on history and how we interpret it. Written historical documents can only be backed up by truth so far. These films Amistad, 1776, and The Black Robe, can help form ideas of what might have happened, but that is what they are used for, to help mold and shape historical events to the present day. It is clear and obvious that slavery is wrong and never should have happened, but certain people decided differently. Of course we do not obtain video footage of such historical event and go off of verbal and written documentation, but the movie Amistad, goes into detail about how the slaves were treated. It was inhumane and they were treated worse than animals. They were captured, traded in from their own people, beaten, killed, raped, separated from families, forced to work and do things no one should ever have to go through. But for public purposes, it did not show everything they went through. The movie definitely softens certain clips for the reason of who might watch the film and for what they would be allowed to film and produce. • 21. The Ultimate Motive In Voltaire s Candide The slaying of a mythical beast, a battle between opposing cavalries, the search for prosperity and riches. A quest generally has a stated motive, such as the events stated, and a more clandestine motive, often not revealed to the audience until the end of the story. In Voltaire s Candide, while the apparent intent for Candide through most of the story is to rescue the damsel in distress, the ultimate motive reveal takes Candide traversing insurmountable obstacles. The quest format utilized by Voltaire is vital to the story, The format allows Voltaire to destroy the naivete of the audience and satirize ideas that were the foundations of the lives of men. When the audience reads Candide, they first learn about his upbringing. Living comfortably in the lap of wealth, and learning from renowned philosophers, Candide cradles the world in his palms. While learning Pangloss s Everything is for the greater good philosophy, Candide absorbs a plethora of naive wisdom. Candide s cushy bubble crumbles, however, once he kisses the Baron s daughter, Cunegonde. While witnessing Pangloss s death, Candide proclaims If this was the best of possible worlds, what then are the others? This statement shows the seed of doubt as been sowed into Candide s mind. While this seems to be a setback in his quest, it actually advances him closer to the actual goal: self knowledge and comprehension about suffering. This statement also shows the satirical nature of this novel. How far would you really go for a friend, would you sacrifice a love life, your education? Out of all the books I have read, I absolutely love Tim Winton s short stories, 2 short stories that I loved are On Her knees and Big World . I have particularly enjoyed On her knees not only because of its intriguing name but because it depicts the issue of dignity throughout the whole story and it taught me that there is more honor in scrubbing other people s floors than in having strangers scrub your own , the second story Big World depicts the issue of friendship which also teaches me that Friendship can evolve through the smallest ... For example: the action of the boy taking a shower can be translated into a wanting to escape form this situation. The mother is said to give the boy a lecture , which suggests that she is in control leading to another symbol of imprisonment for the boy. The car is another clever use of symbolism where the car represents the boy s life. It is said to be reeking which shows that the narrator hates his life. The cranking down of the window represents a desire to escape. The mother is said to be driving carefully which shows two things: a) that she is in control of his life and b) that she makes sure she takes the safest route, protecting her son from harm. Not only have both of these short stories alienated me in such a way, but I found these stories surprisingly beautiful, I highly advise for you to read these two great short stories, because the next time you are facing troubles in life, you remember what Carol Lang had to go through in life, remember what happens when you don t face your problems in life, not like a boy, but like a ... • 23. Theme Of Blank Sonnet A distinguished sense of hollowness, and darkness is discernable in George Elliot Clarke s poem Blank Sonnet . This poem expresses, the author s difficult and awkward communication with a lover through a broken relationship. word choice and imagery is imperative to the overall effect and tone of the poem. The usage of an atypical sonnet stylization, broken sentences, forms of metaphors, symbolism, sensory language, and alliteration form strong imagery, and a sense of disconnect. The overall effect leaves the reader with a resonating feeling of emptiness. The main theme within Clarke s Sonnet is his distance and inability to communicate with a lover. This poem is written for his lover as an attempt to connect with her, although within the poem, he is continuing to communicate poorly. The way in which he copes with this broken relationship drives the tone of the poem. A common theme throughout the poem is the coping mechanism used for his troubled relationship. He does not view his alcoholism as a fault, but as a comfort and an escape. He yearns to sleep beneath a patchwork quilt of rum . (Clarke 6) Furthermore, he wishes to drink until he is unaware that his relationship is troubled. He wishes for the slow collapse of language / [w]ashed out by alcohol. Even while being harassed by the general public, Hester Prynne continues to make these sacrifices which are only rewarded with hatred and insults. Hester foregoes her own pleasures, except for the lavish decoration of her infant, and bestows the rest of her wealth on wretches less miserable than herself (Hawthorne 75). She even continues to aid the poor despite the fact that they not unfrequently insulted the hand that fed them (Hawthorne 75). Despite the fact that it was in Hester s best interests not to aid those around her, she continued to do so. This evidences her sheer strength of character as the heroine of the novel. Hester s loyalty is also magnified by her selfless nature, as her willingness to sacrifice lends itself well to remaining loyal to others. Hester also selflessly bears the burden of the entire community s sin. Hester perceives the hidden sin in other hearts around her and because her sin has been uncovered, she alone bears the penalty for deviancy (Taylor). A prime example of this is once again her refusal to reveal Dimmesdale as her child s father. In resisting their efforts to uncover him, Hester states to the clergy: I might endure his agony, as well as mine! (Hawthorne 63). Unfortunately, a bundle of people only focus on a single passage and misrepresent the whole sutta. More details of this will be explored further in the later section, Buddhism and Authority. In The Buddha s Charter of Free Inquiry Soma Thera says that the Kālāma Sutta is teaching to the Kālāmas but is also an incentive of free inquiry. The teaching is exemption from the authoritative dogmas, intolerance and personal interest. He further insisted that if one were to discern the discourse correctly, wisdom is processed throughout. The sutta, he said, is very obvious in rejecting the bad and adopting the good way... the place of critical examination and analysis in the development of right vision. Buddha s insight into the matter of judgment is beyond our normal understanding. As the four solaces show that a noble life is not about faith in rebirth and retribution. Instead, it is about happiness of the mind by conquering our own avarice, enmity, and ignorance. Basically, the teaching is for everyone. Machine Learning is a sub discipline of Computer Science that has evolved from Pattern Recognition and Computational Learning Theory. ML is akin to Data Mining in the sense that both approaches look for patterns in the data set and while the former trains the program to better its understanding, the latter focuses on extraction of data for human comprehension. A typical application employing ML would involve the design and construction of an algorithm where the program is trained through huge samples of historical data to create a model. This model is later utilized on real time data sets to predict what happens next. With massive data at disposal comes the huge potential to analyze this data to draw inferences or predict future events. But why exactly is Machine Learning moving to the cloud? A compelling reason to move to the cloud would be the varying computational requirements in the ML lifecycle. The process of training/ retraining your model requires enormous computation power and resources, while the process of utilizing your trained models does not require any resources. The varying workload of the ML lifecycle makes it an ideal candidate for the cloud. Cloud Computing is a powerful technology that allows complex computations on massive scale data by eliminating the need to maintain dedicated storage space or maintain expensive hardware. Also it follows intuitively to train your models in the cloud where the data is stored. Prior to the advent of cloud based ML platforms, the only way to do advanced analytics was to purchase packages such as SAS or IBM s SPSS or resort to tools like R. The stage lighting played a key role in the show by setting the mood of the performance during soulful, pensive songs. Challenges Facing Sports Facilities Managers Challenges Facing Sports Facility Managers Planning and managing a sport venue during any event can be challenging even to the most seasoned facility managers. There are many factors that a facility manager must consider in order to ensure the event is a success. Success of an event can be measured in many ways across a wide array of topics; two of which are crowd management and alcohol management. Having a solid plan and operational controls in place for both can lead to a fun and safe environment for all parties involved with any event. Crowd Management Ammon and Southhall (2004) define crowd management as an organization tool used to assist facility managers in providing a safe and enjoyable environment for their guests by implementing facility/event policies and procedures (p. 145). Part of the process for ensuring a safe event is to identify any foreseeable duties and to develop a plan. Duties One of the main responsibilities of a facility manager to control a crowd is to account for every spectator that has entered into the facility. Facility managers should be able to anticipate and recognize and potential crowd management problems. Movement throughout the facility is a major safety concern and is just as important as the ingress and egress of patrons (Ammon et al, 2004, p. 145).
