Stuttering In The King s Speech
The King s Speech (2010) follows King George VI, referred to as Bertie throughout the film, as he
seeks stuttering treatment while managing his increasing responsibilities in the years preceding World
War II. One of the ongoing thematic elements of The King s Speech was Bertie s on going struggle
with his self confidence and self worth, especially as the looming responsibilities of kingship magnify
his feelings of inadequacy. It was interesting to contrast Bertie s self perception to the manner in
which his stuttering was perceived by those around him. In a few instances, Bertie mentions that his
stuttering has always been particularly difficult when speaking with his father and older brother. In
one of the few scenes with King George V, the King is seen as being extremely strict with Bertie.
While he initially tries to encourage Bertie by stating public speaking is a matter of practice, this
attempt at encouragement rapidly devolved into openly berating Bertie. Almost immediately upon
sitting down, the King instructed Bertie to sit up straight, to get it out , and even at one point angrily
tells his son to relax. A second scene involved Bertie stating that his brother, Edward, was prone to
mocking his stuttering and was even encouraged to do so by their father. As adults, Edward resorts to
mocking Bertie when faced with criticism. Given the negative attitudes of his family members
towards his stuttering, it is understandable that these attitudes contributed so

Speed Control of Linear Induction Motor Essay
Executive Summary
VVVF drives used to control the speed of LIM, many industrial automation worldwide such as Trains
drives, Automatic Screen Door, Moving Walkway, Lift and Escalator, etc., varying the speed of the
drive may save energy compared with other techniques for flow control.
This mid term report prepared for detailing how to design and build the structure of LabVIEW
simulation for speed control of Linear induction motor and explaining the characteristic of V/F Speed
control for Induction motor obtain the data by LabVIEW.
The design and build of simulation has two parts, part one is simulation of LED indicator for motor

Methods of Achieving Sustainability In this project suggests several ways to make the system more
sustainable. (Variable speed appliance for energy saving included curtain pullers, trains themselves,
automatic screen door, moving walkway, lift and escalator, compressors and pumps, catapults and
launchers.) There are many discussed with respect to their Efficiency of use and Conservation . These
are defined as follows:
 Conservation: Changing policy and/or processes of the MTR system so that it requires less energy
to operate.
 Efficiency of Use: Changing the nature of technologies within the MTR so that they require less
energy to operate. While both these approaches are valid ways of increasing sustainability, it is
important to tackle the problem of sustainability from numerous angles. It can be assumed that
developments will be made to achieve both conservation and high

User Fees
State and local governments over the past several decades have seen a dramatic decrease in state and
local government revenue. This is partly due to the reduction of the amount of revenue states and local
governments can obtain from property taxes due constraints and the reduction in federal and state aid
at the local level. As a result, state and local governments have turned to the idea of charging user fees.
User fees are a fees charged for the use of a products or services. Unlike a tax, which is imposed on
the general population of a state or local municipality, a user fee is only charged to an individual when
that individual uses that product or service. An example of a user fee would a toll charge. Not all
citizens must pay a toll charge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are willing to except an increase in user fees because there is nothing forcing a person to pay
any particular user fee. Increasing taxes is hard because the general population must pay a tax increase
whether they disagree with the increase or not. If an individual does not agree with the increase in a
particular fee then they simple can schoose to not use a particular service or product. Additionally,
user fees also allow for local government to diversify revenue sources. Meaning that user fees can be
generated from different sources such as golf course fees, swimming pool fees and fees for entrances
to national parks. The fees charged tend to have prices that reflect the true cost of production. This
means that individuals pay fees that tend to reflect the actual cost of operating a product or service.
People begin to see a direct link between payment and benefit. At the same time individuals see the
benefit of user fees related to the benefits provided, local governments are able to track which services
local communities want. This reduces the amount of money local governments spend on products and
services there community does not

The Impact Of Media On Society
Mass media is a significant force in modern culture. Sociologists refer to this as a mediated culture
where media reflects and creates the culture ( The Role and Influence of Mass Media , n.d, para.2).

positive effects; however, researchers were not pay attention to the impacts of media in inequality. It is
also the important effect of media to society, but it show unclearly in other reports or researches. That

Figurative Language Analysis
In this classroom, students were interpreting and breaking down song lyrics to discover different typed
of figurative language, and to explain what they thought the lyrics meant. The first five minutes the
students were turning in their articles of the week. The teacher took this time to ask the students about
their plans for the weekend (it was a Friday). At the beginning of the class the students were listening
to a particular song, the teacher picked a newer song that the students enjoyed and stayed engaged
listening to. She passed out a paper copy of the lyrics, for the students to follow. Along with a lyric
sheet, she gave them another assignment with questions. They were to identify a type of figurative
language used in the song. Then at the end they were to pick a topic, three choices were given, to write
a short essay on. I knew the students were engaged when because they all seemed to enjoy the song,

The Boston Herald s Article Lizzie Borden
Women cannot be murderers. Even though this was not explicitly stated in the newspapers, The
Boston Herald in its article Lizzie Borden conveys the perception that the feminine ways associated
with women would make it impractical for women to commit murder. Lizzie Borden, a young lady
accused of brutally killing her stepmother and father with multiple blows to their heads with a hatchet
was described as a religious, sincere, and modest human being in The Boston Herald s article covering
Lizzie s life before and after the murders. During Lizzie s youth, she suffered from isolation because
of her reserved personality and belief that nobody appreciated her presence, but in womanhood turned
her life around and attain friendships who vouched for her good character during the time of the
investigation. The Boston Herald s article Lizzie Borden: Her School and Later Life A Noble Woman,
Though Retiring , successfully persuades the reader of Lizzie Borden s innocence with the focus on
her femininity through diction and logic. The word choice throughout the article promotes sympathy
towards Lizzie that reiterates the idea that women are incompetent of committing heinous crimes. For
example, in The Boston Herald s article Lizzie Borden states, Her dark, lustrous eyes, ordinarily
flashing, were, dimmed, and her pale face was evidence of the physical suffering she was undergoing
and had experienced which implies the misery Lizzie has encountered after the death of her

Moral Hazard And Ethical Hazard
1. Moral Hazard a. Moral hazard is the possibility for an individual to act in a different and
detrimental way when working on behalf of another person because they are not properly monitored.
Moral hazard can arise from asymmetric information, where one party has more information about a
transaction than the other party. For example, a worker is working on behalf of their employer. If that
employer does not properly monitor this employee, they may decide to slack on their job, negatively
impacting their productivity. The act of slacking is the moral hazard in this situation. 2. Agent a. An
agent is a person working on behalf of another person. Using the example above, the employee is the

This situation can arise when purchasing a used vehicle. A seller may know all of the issues and
needed repairs for the vehicle they are selling, but refrains from explaining this to a potential buyer.
When that buyer purchases the vehicle, they may find that the vehicle is a lemon or needs extensive
repairs, making the purchase an unfavorable one. 5. Signaling a. Signaling is the process of an
informed party divulging accurate private information (information they have) to an uninformed
second party, in an attempt to solve the issue of asymmetric information and in hopes of reaching
some sort of mutually beneficial arrangement (Conjecture Corporation, n.d.). Advertising is an
example of signaling: a company may have a well constructed product they wish to sell to consumers.
They use advertising to signal the value and reliability of the product. Consumers see the advertising
and decide to purchase the product. Here, the seller receives revenue for the product and the consumer
receives some sort of value from its purchase. 6. Screening a. Screening is the process/actions of an
uninformed party trying to get an informed party to give them private information. Examples of
screening can be seen in buyers asking questions about the products they are going to buy, managers

Puritans Religious Beliefs
The English reformed Protestants would be funded to establish a new colony in the America s with
almost radical ideals. They were called the Puritans, but shaped American history. John Winthrop led
the expedition that bring this religion across the sea with good and pure examples. Puritan ideas and
beliefs affected the political reign as well as the economy, not to mention the entire society.
Their religious ideals would shape almost everything about the community, as well as country. The
church was a mandatory attendance in Puritan communities. While not all attendees were full
members, things such as how the town would run and voting were decided by the church. For the
Puritans, religious and political life were completely intertwined. (Puritans in America, Study, 2017)
The Puritans believed that God had a unique covenant with them, and that they were expected to live
by the beliefs of the scriptures. Just as other religious beliefs, such as the Amish, they had no tolerance
for drinking, sex without procreating. Many were often left in fear of what their ultimate fate was after
death, whether eternal salvation or damnation. Because of their mandatory expectations, early
migrants of the Massachusetts Bay colonies were full members of the Puritan churches. The church
was very strict in their beliefs, and in their influence in the colonies. This fear and worship would be
prevalent in most American religious, as well as their study and sacrifice.
The Puritans not only had

The Politics Of The United States
In the United States, elections can be the deciding factor in ones political career. In recent times,
congressional elections have not only become increasingly important, but also more expensive. The
expense is often considered a result of modern times, however it results in many people being unable
to run for a political position. This begs the question of who might be running for a political position if
the price wasn t so high, would it be a more common person who relates more to the people. Often
incumbents, those currently in office, are able to edge out competitors because of money. The price of
elections can also affect issues that are covered by politicians. While its not too hard to fill the
requirements for becoming a senator or representative, most people are unable to run for election due
to the financial burden. In current times this leads to politicians caring less about issues and more on
their image, money, and reelection. This is because money is related to power so the more money one
has, the more powerful one is, and this also relates to reelection and image. During the 2012
congressional election senators, on average, raised $10,476,451 and representative, on average, raised
$1,689,580 (Costa). These numbers are the reason why congress is referred to as the millionaires club,
over half of the Senate and nearly half of the House are considered millionaires (Condon). This
amount is not something and average citizen would be able to come up with, so

PROCEDURE: You must first determine to which of the three groups the various anions belong. Since

Jekyll And Hyde Differences
There are many differences between the characters in the book Jekyll and Hyde and the movie The
League of Extraordinary Gentleman which portrays Jekyll and Hyde as the movies main characters.
When I watched the movie, I noticed three main differences those are: in the movie they are trying to
use Hyde while in the book they are trying to find and arrest him for murder, Jekyll doesn t hide Hyde
in the movie, and Jekyll doesn t try to control Hyde as much as he does in the book then in the movie.
The first difference that I will focus on is that in the movie they are trying to use Hyde for good and in
the book, they are trying to arrest Hyde for murder. In the book Hyde murders a man by the name of
Sir Danvers Carew. A maid witnesses this

Isaac Newton Gravity
Gravity. We all know what it is, and we take that for granted. But, as all great discoveries, there was a
time before gravity . Of course, it existed, just people didn t really know about it, or how it worked.
That is, until the year 1687, when Isaac Newton came about. But first, let s back up. Isaac Newton was
born on December 25, 1642. Funny how he was born on Christmas. A Christmas miracle perhaps!
What wasn t a Christmas miracle, however, was that Isaac s father also named isaac newton, had died
just three months before isaac had been born. When Isaac was three, his mother remarried a man
named Reverend Barnabas Smith. Like all good storylines, Isaac resented his stepfather. He even held
a grudge toward his mother for marrying him. When he confessed a list of sins by the age of nineteen,
one of them was Threatening my father and mother Smith to burn them and the house over them.
From the age of twelve to seventeen, isaac attended the King s school, Granath. While he was there,
he was taught latin, greek, and was probably a great deal of mathematics. Unfortunately, he was
removed from the school, and by october of the year 1659, was back home where he grew up in
Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth, where his unfortunate mother, widowed for the second time, tried to
make a farmer out of him. Long story short, Isaac despised farming. Fortunately, Henry Stokes, the
headmaster of king s convinced his mother to send him back to the school so that he could further

The Things They Carried Passage Analysis
The Things They Carried
War is an ugly thing that tends to affect people in different ways and thus people cope in different
ways: Some people go insane, some become numb, some turn to drugs, and some process their
thoughts by writing. All of these responses are present in The Things They Carried. There is not
necessarily one right way to respond to the horrors of war, or life in general, but some insight can be
gained by comparing how different characters in the book coped and how they turned out. Different
responses exemplified by characters in The Things They Carried are writing, drug use, and loss of
humanity. These responses can give insight into different facets of human nature. One of the ways Tim

Gladiator by Ridly Scott
I am going to watch the film Gladiator by Ridly Scott. I hope to accurately describe and analyse how
the director creates a feeling of tension, suspense and how overall he makes the film believable. I will
not analyse the whole film, but just two of the scenes. The two scenes I have chosen are the first scene
the battle of Germania and the last scene the death of the evil Emperor.

The points I am most likely to focus on are the camera angles, sound effects, music, the acting and the
shots, also I will describe how the two scenes were made to be realistic with the aid of computer

The emperor is very impressed with his performance and arranges to meet him. When asked to
remove his mask and helmet Maximus turns his back on the emperor, the emperor was given the
choice to kill him there and then but he declined so as to keep his popularity with the crowed.
Maximus tries to escape but the emperor captures him and challenges Maximus to a fight. The
emperor cheats in this fight by stabbing Maximus with a poison dagger before. In the end both
Maximus and the emperor die in battle.
I will now analyse the first scene in the film, the battle of Germania. In this scene Rome battles against
the barbarians of Germania. The scene and film starts with blurb that helps set the scene and draw the
viewer in to the plot of the film. The blurb fades away as harmony music fades in and we, the viewers,
are shown an extreme close up of Maximus s hand sweeping through the grass. The colour is very
bright, and the music promotes happiness in the viewers mind. This small section of the film is his
thoughts of home, the harmony music which plays has a very important role throughout the film when
ever Maximus is thinking about home to drive him self on that music is played. And the first part of
the first scene links the music with home for the viewer because it is the first thing in the film that you

4.2.3 Model Identification, Estimation and Interpretation
ARIMA models are univariate models that consist of an autoregressive polynomial, an order of
integration (d), and a moving average polynomial. Since Claim inflation became stationary after first
order difference (ADF test) the model that we are looking at is ARIMA (p, 1, q). We have to identify
the model, estimate suitable parameters, perform diagnostics for residuals and finally forecast the
inflation series.

The Cost Of A Cell Phone Network On Meaningless Crimes And...
All cell phones register their location with cell phone networks several times a minute, and this
function cannot be turned off while the phone is getting a wireless signal (Cell Phone Location
Tracking Public Records 1). Inmates can be monitored in many different ways, from cell phones to
tracking anklets. The Tracking Release Program should be put into effect more than it already is. This
change will stop the waste of tax payer s money on meaningless crimes and other people s mistakes. It
costs $700.00 a month to house one inmate and the cost of one employee s hourly wage of $10.50
(U.S. Marshal Service 2). Compare the cost to house one inmate to the cost of hiring one employee.
The cost is substantially different. By the end, you will have a basic knowledge of how this program
will save money and create jobs.
First of all, not all inmates should be subjected to prison for their crimes. For example, not every
crime is considered high priority, so this would mean they have a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a
low level case where the person gets prosecuted, but not labeled as a high risk. With a misdemeanor,
inmates could be put into the tracking reform program. The people who qualify for this would be
breaking and entering, drugs, stalking, and probation for an entry level parole. The program also
provides an extra layer of supervision with the goal of enhancing public safety in the community
(Jackson 1). This program creates a safety net by monitoring the time and

Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses Research Paper
Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses
Sunglasses are usually worn as a protective eyewear. They protect your eyes from the strong
ultraviolet rays of the sun; any other bright and harsh lights which can be dangerous for your eyes
when exposed to for a long duration. Injuries can be caused to different parts of the eyes like the
retina, iris and the cornea and constant injuries can leave a long lasting and permanent damage. If you
thought sunglasses are only for the summer season, think again. Of course, to dodge the staunch
sunlight, you have to wear sunglasses but they are also worn during driving. People with contact lens
have to rely on sunglasses to protect them from debris and dust particles entering their eyes as it can
be painful and leads to scratching of the cornea.
Sunglasses are also worn by sportsman indulging in activities and sports like scuba diving, ice

Polarized lenses work well for joggers, bikers, golfers, skiers, fishermen and boaters. These sunglasses
when used for driving can reduce the glare that comes off the surface of the road or car. This can also
be used indoors by light sensitive people. While ordinary tinted lenses reduce brightness, only
polarized lenses eliminate glare. With the help of polarized bamboo sunglasses, you can add style and
at the same time eliminate glare.
When looking to buy new sunglasses, you want to make sure you are looking for the best glasses, not
only to protect your eyes from UV rays, but also that allow you to see things the best. Even though
they may cost a little more, polarized sunglasses are the way to go. You simply cannot beat polarized

writers get good to begin with. Mr Nabokov explains that the author must be able to create something
different and unique to sent planet spinnings in order to produce a successful book. While on the other
hand to make yourself a good reader you must read a book with a fresh mindset as if you don t know
what s to come, go in there expecting to learn something new and do not ruin the thrill of it. Now onto

When reading a book there s a special order that we like to follow. We see it manually from left to
right, but that s not the same case when looking at a picture we tend to open up our eyes and look at it
at every angle. Once you ve reread a book you ll start seeing it as a painting instead of a regular book.
Once you ve cracked open the case, now the reader can enter the game. And that s when the magic
begins and people start praising the book and actually appreciate it. The attitude you bring into a book
is fairly important when reading it. That is a very clever way of seeing what the meaning of reading is.
However, when we come back, we will see how Mr. Holt defines reading based on his own
experiences and work he has done. (commercial break) We are back! This morning we have been
analyzing what reading is and hearing who is Mr. Nabokov and how he defines the meaning of
reading. John Holt is here to bring in his own take of the topic and later they will go on head to head
and see what solution they can agree with. C mon out Mr Holt, time to discuss this topic we ve been

Speech Codes Theory Essay
I. Speech codes theory Speech codes theory is an account of communication as a deeply cultured
human activity. The theory, and the empirical research on which it is built, demonstrate that the kinds
of local knowledge people deploy to talk about to characterize, interpret, and rationalize their
communicative conduct is indeed local, particular knowledge, and that such knowledge can be
discovered and described through systematic inquiry. This article describes the key theoretical
commitments of speech codes theory, identifies its six propositions, illustrates research within the
tradition, and assesses its purposes. Speech codes theory was first published in prototypical form with
an introduction to the concept of speech codes and a presentation of four empirically grounded
principles about speech codes (Philipsen, 1992). Then it was presented as a formal theoretical
statement with five empirically grounded propositions, four of which were carried over intact from the
earlier version (Philipsen, 1997). Speech codes theory was created for two purposes. One purpose was
to distill some of what might be learned from a large body of fieldwork research on culturally
distinctive ways of speaking. When the first version of speech codes theory was written, there had
been established a large body of fieldwork about cultural ways of speaking that had been conducted
and published under the auspices of the ethnography of speaking (Hymes, 1968). Some 250 of these
studies were cited in

Media In The Spanish American War
On Feb 15, 1898 the Maine had been ward in Havana harbor for three weeks without ny incidents so
the United States Navy sailors crew were anxious to get back to America. Captain Sigsbee, who was
the commander of the Maine, later recalled that the Marine sergeant who played taps on the bugle was
achieving some elaborate flourishes at night but the sailors felt pure tranquility. As sailors aboard the
Maine began falling asleep, an explosion came from the front end of the ship. At about 11 pm Captain
Sigsbee wired Washington: Maine blown up in Havana harbor at 9:40 tonight and destroyed. Many
wounded and doubtless more killed or drowned . To be exact, the explosion had killed 266 US sailors.

Hurst, and Joseph Pulitzer, practiced yellow journalism in their articles and exaggerated what was
happening during that time. There is even a quote by Hurst where he said to Frederic Sackrider
Remington, an illustrator for the Journal, You furnish the pictures and I ll furnish the war. Hurst s
newspapers had stories about female prisoners, executions, valiant rebels fighting, and starving
women and children, describing the situation in Cuba to tug at Americans heart strings. They also used
romance to exaggerate the events taking place. Through 1897, the New York newspapers portrayed
Cuba as a damsel in distress, the U.S as her savior, and Spain as the villain. When the USS Maine
sunk in Havana Harbor, the Hurst newspapers with no evidence, blamed the Spanish, so Americans
believed that this was true and demanded to get back at Spain. Some historians today are convinced
that the Spanish American War was the first press driven war and that it fueled the public s passion for
war, because if the newspapers kept things accurate and unexaggerated, they believe the mood for
Cuban intervention would probably have been very different and much more

Dishonests In John Steinbeck s Chrysanthemums
English In the short story, Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck, there is a certain interesting character
that demonstrates strong traits. The story has three main characters which are Henry, his wife, Elisa
and the tinker. The character that I will talk about would be the uneducated and canny salesman, the
tinker. The Tinker is the antagonist of the story who uses his tricks and sweet talk to get through this
hardworking farmer called Elisa Allen for his personal benefits. The story revolves around the
interaction between Elisa and the Tinker and how he betrays her. From this short summary, you can
tell what type of person the Tinker was. The shallow salesman in the short story Chrysanthemums was
a cruel selfish and dishonest individual. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dishonesty is shown throughout the story very well by the tinker. As you know, the tinker is a
salesman which is adventuring around America. Naturally as a salesman, you need to be good with
people. The tinker really was since he was very manipulating and convincing. The tinker started off
his conversation with her nicely until she began to be hard to convince. This is where his dishonesty
becomes apparent since he starts to lie and make up excuses. He starts talking about how people are
waiting for him and that he won t be having anything to eat tonight. He s a salesman so he has to
attract his customer toward his service. It s perfectly normal, but this is where everything changes. He
starts talking about her chrysanthemums. He quickly changes the subject. What s them plants? Ma
am? He s smart since he s still trying to get her to pay to his services so he talks about her flowers.
The conversation goes well and this is where he finally shows his true colors. In one of the dialogue,
the tinker has to bite his tongue just to approach Elisa. They smell kind of nasty till you get used to
them he said but quickly had changed his tone when she said it wasn t nasty at all by saying I like the
smell myself You can see how the tinker really is trying to stay on her good side. He continues to flirt
and mingle with her for quite some time. He finally lies to her by saying there is a lady with a
beautiful garden but has no chrysanthemums and that she asked him to get him some seeds if he ever
could. Elisa fell for his bait and his plan. The tinker was very carefully manipulating her from the
start. From being a nice man to someone sociable in minutes of talking with her, she really had no idea
what he was trying to do. As the lies continued, Elisa eventually fell for his plan and gave him some
work, but she didn t know what he would do next. The tinker quickly gets caught up

My Strengths Weaknesses
My Strength and Weakness
Everyone is different in many ways. There are differences in gender, nationality, religious activities
and there are differences in strengths and weaknesses. Those strengths and weaknesses are looked at
in Corporate America and they assist the higher management in making decisions for the roles we play
on each team. I will be discussing my strengths and weaknesses.
Over the years, I have learned how to react and respond in different ways and it all depends on what is
happening in my surroundings. I owe a lot of this to my 11 years of military service. The military
trains you in a way that once you are done with their training; you will walk, talk and act as a soldier
is supposed to act. There are times when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Procrastination and being laid back are two of my biggest weaknesses. The behavior has minimized
since assuming the leadership role with Bank of America. I always would take on tasks and do them at
months end then I would find myself working 18 hour days to complete what could have been started
at the beginning of the month. One of the good things that my leadership has in place is a daily pulse
check. This enables us to see where we stand as a leadership team and to ensure that no task goes
undone. At the beginning, I continually pushed back on completing my tasks and there was always a
rush at months end to complete all assigned tasks. After leaving the Army 10 years ago, I also
procrastinated on my higher education until recently. I kept on stating that there was little or no time to
complete my higher education. After several job declines due to not having a degree; I decided to take
the step and finish my degree.
Being too open or showing feelings at the work place is another weakness that I do carry. With my
military background I have been lead to believe that your squad is like family and things are to be
discussed just in case we ever did go to war I would know what would motivate the soldier in a time
of crisis. I have bought this thought with me into Corporate America and it has come to hurt me as
bringing in your personal life into the workplace. When I was going through the crisis with my
mother; I worked in the Spanish Department and my manager

Scout Meeting Narrative
It was early September, the beginning of the fall season. The scorching summer sun had long been
gone and the golden maple leaves had already begun to tumble to the ground. A crisp chill strikes the
evening with a faint tap as I exit my mom s shimmering silver minivan and make my way into the all
too familiar elementary school. It was only a couple days before when my good friend, Chloe, met me
outside of our conjoined classrooms to suggest I attend a girl scout meeting. At the time, I absolutely
dreaded meeting new people. I was quite shy and avoided human interaction as best as possible, with

Reflection On Faith
Faith is a very complex subject on how it can be obtained and what can be done after it has been
achieved. The treasures of having faith brings a person to be saved from any evil. In the last chapter of
Mark, it explains therefore true faith in Christ is a treasure beyond comparison which brings with it
complete salvation and saves man from every evil (Mark [16:16]). When faith is within the person it
also brings them righteousness, which gives the ability to break the chains within the person (Luther
pg 11 par 2). In Luther s perspective, the Word of God contains wisdom, liberty, joy, and other morals,
which faith alone can only obtain those moral traits. The term work Luther uses in his writings is
mainly about a certain action people will do such as community service or volunteering. Faith is
difficult to have since any type of services work cannot make a person to have faith. Luther claims
that person is divided up in two parts, and any type of work of the outer part of the body has no effect
in faith, but when a person is saved by faith, Luther suggest giving back by helping other people or do
good causes. In the Christian life, there are two main parts in a person which is the spiritual part and
the bodily part (Luther Pg 9 par 2). The spiritual part can also be called as inner or new man and the
bodily part can also be called carnal or old man. Apostle explains the reason behind the spiritual part
of a human being called new man and the bodily being called the

Essay On Greek Immigration
For this assignment, I decided to focus my research on Greek immigrants. As I was reading page 797,
I noticed the author mentioned, Greek restaurant owners provided a selection of American and Greek
cuisines. It was also mentioned, Greek immigration most profoundly impacted mainstream
foodservice (pg.797). I found these facts to be of great importance when discussing food choices,
therefore I wanted to do more research on Greek Immigrants. I learned, after migrating to the United
States, many Greek families claimed Michigan as their new home. More specifically, Greektown,
located in Detroit, Michigan. I also discovered Germans were actually the first to settle in Greektown,
then once they moved out, Greeks families began settling in this area. During the late 1800 s through
the early 1900 s, a large population of immigrants from Greece emigrated to the United States. To get

Life is Adversity Everyone faces adversity in some point of their life.Adversity will always make us
stronger. Some ways people overcome adversity are by, Identifying the problem, Facing it and
considering all options. One way people overcome adversity is by identifying the problem. An
example of this is from the (article video) of Captain Sullenberger landing the plane in the Hudson
River. The text states that Cpt. Sullenberger said that he had a couple minutes to think after the geese
had hit the plane s engine he had to think what he was going to do and he thought where he was going
to land in about 1 minutes and 30 seconds. This clearly supports the point because Cpt. Sullenberger
looks at his surroundings and revised all of his surroundings before landing the plane or turning the
plane around and risking all of those people s lives. An example of how people overcome adversity is
by facing it because Cpt. Sullenberger had to face that he had to land in the Hudson River to get all of
the passengers on that flight.Evidence of this is that in the story in this piece Cpt. Sullenberger
overcomes adversity by helping everyone that was in the plane get out safe and sound. This shows how

The And Implementation Of Rapid Response Teams
Much like the human body, healthcare is a complex system that must be assessed and reviewed
routinely to identify the dysfunctions or parts that are in need of intervention. It is the job of nurses,
doctors and other healthcare professionals to recognize and communicate when there is a need for
change or improvement in order for patients to receive the highest standard of care and optimal health
outcomes. The creation and implementation of Rapid Response Teams were one of the many strategies
initiated in the 100,000 Lives Campaign (2004) instituted by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement

According to Carlo Parker, the literature suggests that RRT s are underutilized either by delayed
activation or failure to activate entirely. This underutilization is shown to lead to failure to rescue. The
objective of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses decision making model
during RRT activation and the frequency of the RRT activation (Parker, 2014). Lauri and Salantera
(2002) have identified three decision making models that are utilized by nurses to make clinical
judgments based off of information processing and intuitive humanistic theories (Parker, 2014). The
first model is the analytical decision making, which involves the collection of data, forming a
hypothesis and continuing to collect data until a decision has been reached (Parker, 2014). Secondly,
the intuitive decision making is understanding without rationale (Parker, 2014). The third model is a
combination of the analytical and intuitive decision making. The registered nurses (RN) who
participated in this study were from an acute care unit who had activated the RRT at least once in the
past 12 months. The RN s were between the ages of 24 57, 91% were female, 63% of them held a

Cultural Differences Between European And Native Americans
The cultural difference between the Europeans and Native Americans caused many clashes that led
into destruction of land and the people. The culture differences led to a bloodshed in the war of
Captivity which resulted in the Native American to migrate west into the European culture. The
European Americans believed in and followed the practices of a monarchy government. They believed
in commitment to the King or Queen of England and that one person holds all the power and total
sovereignty until they die or give up their position. However, the Native Americans held to a more
tribal form of government, they governed themselves and they helped each other out but they didn t
have a central ruler. There are a large number of tribes within the Native American culture and they all
have slightly different beliefs. Some native groups were oriented more towards hunting and gathering
and depended on the spirits to help them find what they were out to look for. Other groups were more
agricultural and looked for spirits to provide good weather for cropping. Although, they had different
beliefs all of them established an animistic worldview and they had many things in common. After the
Europeans moved to the new world the population expanded over time but due to the illnesses and
diseases many people died. Most Native Americans believed in God who was responsible for creating
the world. They praised and worshiped him but they also believed that there were other spirits which

Executive Orders Of The American Presidency
Executive Orders in the American Presidency By Niraj Patel POLI 100A Prof. James Ingram By
definition, an executive order is a presidential policy directive that implements or interprets a federal
statute, a constitutional provision, or a treaty. An executive order can also be categorized under
executive directives, and executive proclamation. (1) Though many may think of an executive order as
an alternative term for a presidential proclamation , it is not. Presidential proclamations are strictly
reserved for public policy and for ceremonial purposes, such as the declaration of a day for
remembrance, etc. Executive orders find their roots from not only the U.S. Constitution, but Congress
as well. Though it s powers are derived from outside of the executive branch, executive orders do not
require any sort of approval whatsoever, and the president can utilize these orders to set up policy and
rules while ultimately negating any thought of public opposition. Furthermore, executive orders have
the ability to be applied to a wide range of activities and categories, and in the past they have; from
implementing internment camps during WWII, sending U.S. troops abroad, to ideals such as
increasing the area of national forests. What makes executive orders such a hot topic is that
historically, these orders only regulated the internal operational factors of governmental/federal
agencies as well as to regulate and oversee public lands, but more recently, has

It is the part that makes people obey the rules and that makes them behave the way they do. It judges
people, criticizes them, and makes them feel guilty when they do something incorrect. It is what
makes people feel guilty and ashamed, it is their inner judge. It is the part of personality which holds
all of individual s ideals that are required from parents and society (individual s sense of right and
wrong). The Super Ego provides guidance in creating judgments. Freud had stated that the Super Ego
starts to appear at age five.
There are two parts of the Super Ego: * The Ego Ideal this involves the rules and standards for good
behaviour. These behaviours consist of those which are permitted by parental and other authority
figures. Following these rules leads to feelings of pride, value and achievement
* The Conscience consists of details about things that are thought of being bad by parents and society.
These sorts of behaviours are regularly not allowed and lead to bad consequences, punishments or
feelings of guilt and remorse.
The Superego s purpose is to act and improve the behaviours of individuals. It operates to suppress all
inappropriate urges which comes from the id and struggles to make the ego act upon the idealistic
standards rather than upon realistic principles. The Superego is present in the conscious, preconscious
and unconscious.

Differences in Gender Communication
Introduction This paper attempts to review for the reader a selection of literature that study and
analyze the differences that exist between men and women and the manner in which they
communicate. Not only do these pieces of literature fall into different categories and specialties, they
also deliver varied opinions and results as to what causes the differences discussed. By becoming
familiar with the many aspects of gender communication differences, the responsible worker or
manager can synthesize those findings into a methodology that enhances work place communication.
The literature available on gender communication differences, when analyzed, display themes of

Most of the authors above conclude their findings with references to gender stereotypes. Still others,
represented in this review by Hayes and Samartseva, focus on and detail the way stereotypes affect
gender communication. Hayes states that stereotypes are the single most cause of misunderstandings
between the genders in the work place, especially larger organizations where the work force doesn t
have a chance to develop closer relationships (2004). Hayes argues that when people are placed in a
confrontation with an unknown person, or when that person s mood and attitude is an unknown factor,
people fall back subconsciously to their stereotyped images in order to interpret both verbal and non
verbal communication (2004). Samartseva discusses how stereotypes are conceptual frameworks built
from observable behaviors that act as a way of predicting the world. However, she also points out that
the development of stereotypes can lead to situations in which self filling prophecies rule perceptions

  • 2. Stuttering In The King s Speech The King s Speech (2010) follows King George VI, referred to as Bertie throughout the film, as he seeks stuttering treatment while managing his increasing responsibilities in the years preceding World War II. One of the ongoing thematic elements of The King s Speech was Bertie s on going struggle with his self confidence and self worth, especially as the looming responsibilities of kingship magnify his feelings of inadequacy. It was interesting to contrast Bertie s self perception to the manner in which his stuttering was perceived by those around him. In a few instances, Bertie mentions that his stuttering has always been particularly difficult when speaking with his father and older brother. In one of the few scenes with King George V, the King is seen as being extremely strict with Bertie. While he initially tries to encourage Bertie by stating public speaking is a matter of practice, this attempt at encouragement rapidly devolved into openly berating Bertie. Almost immediately upon sitting down, the King instructed Bertie to sit up straight, to get it out , and even at one point angrily tells his son to relax. A second scene involved Bertie stating that his brother, Edward, was prone to mocking his stuttering and was even encouraged to do so by their father. As adults, Edward resorts to mocking Bertie when faced with criticism. Given the negative attitudes of his family members towards his stuttering, it is understandable that these attitudes contributed so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is partly due to the reduction of the amount of revenue states and local governments can obtain from property taxes due constraints and the reduction in federal and state aid at the local level. As a result, state and local governments have turned to the idea of charging user fees. User fees are a fees charged for the use of a products or services. People are willing to except an increase in user fees because there is nothing forcing a person to pay any particular user fee. Increasing taxes is hard because the general population must pay a tax increase whether they disagree with the increase or not. If an individual does not agree with the increase in a particular fee then they simple can schoose to not use a particular service or product. Additionally, user fees also allow for local government to diversify revenue sources. Meaning that user fees can be generated from different sources such as golf course fees, swimming pool fees and fees for entrances to national parks. The fees charged tend to have prices that reflect the true cost of production. This means that individuals pay fees that tend to reflect the actual cost of operating a product or service. People begin to see a direct link between payment and benefit. At the same time individuals see the benefit of user fees related to the benefits provided, local governments are able to track which services local communities want. Figurative Language Analysis In this classroom, students were interpreting and breaking down song lyrics to discover different typed of figurative language, and to explain what they thought the lyrics meant. The first five minutes the students were turning in their articles of the week. The teacher took this time to ask the students about their plans for the weekend (it was a Friday). At the beginning of the class the students were listening to a particular song, the teacher picked a newer song that the students enjoyed and stayed engaged listening to. She passed out a paper copy of the lyrics, for the students to follow. Along with a lyric sheet, she gave them another assignment with questions. They were to identify a type of figurative language used in the song. Then at the end they were to pick a topic, three choices were given, to write a short essay on. • 8. The Boston Herald s Article Lizzie Borden Women cannot be murderers. Even though this was not explicitly stated in the newspapers, The Boston Herald in its article Lizzie Borden conveys the perception that the feminine ways associated with women would make it impractical for women to commit murder. Lizzie Borden, a young lady accused of brutally killing her stepmother and father with multiple blows to their heads with a hatchet was described as a religious, sincere, and modest human being in The Boston Herald s article covering Lizzie s life before and after the murders. During Lizzie s youth, she suffered from isolation because of her reserved personality and belief that nobody appreciated her presence, but in womanhood turned her life around and attain friendships who vouched for her good character during the time of the investigation. The Boston Herald s article Lizzie Borden: Her School and Later Life A Noble Woman, Though Retiring , successfully persuades the reader of Lizzie Borden s innocence with the focus on her femininity through diction and logic. The word choice throughout the article promotes sympathy towards Lizzie that reiterates the idea that women are incompetent of committing heinous crimes. For example, in The Boston Herald s article Lizzie Borden states, Her dark, lustrous eyes, ordinarily flashing, were, dimmed, and her pale face was evidence of the physical suffering she was undergoing and had experienced which implies the misery Lizzie has encountered after the death of her ... Moral hazard is the possibility for an individual to act in a different and detrimental way when working on behalf of another person because they are not properly monitored. Moral hazard can arise from asymmetric information, where one party has more information about a transaction than the other party. For example, a worker is working on behalf of their employer. If that employer does not properly monitor this employee, they may decide to slack on their job, negatively impacting their productivity. The act of slacking is the moral hazard in this situation. 2. Signaling is the process of an informed party divulging accurate private information (information they have) to an uninformed second party, in an attempt to solve the issue of asymmetric information and in hopes of reaching some sort of mutually beneficial arrangement (Conjecture Corporation, n.d.). Advertising is an example of signaling: a company may have a well constructed product they wish to sell to consumers. They use advertising to signal the value and reliability of the product. Consumers see the advertising and decide to purchase the product. Here, the seller receives revenue for the product and the consumer receives some sort of value from its purchase. 6. Screening a. • 12. The Politics Of The United States In the United States, elections can be the deciding factor in ones political career. In recent times, congressional elections have not only become increasingly important, but also more expensive. The expense is often considered a result of modern times, however it results in many people being unable to run for a political position. This begs the question of who might be running for a political position if the price wasn t so high, would it be a more common person who relates more to the people. Often incumbents, those currently in office, are able to edge out competitors because of money. The price of elections can also affect issues that are covered by politicians. While its not too hard to fill the requirements for becoming a senator or representative, most people are unable to run for election due to the financial burden. In current times this leads to politicians caring less about issues and more on their image, money, and reelection. This is because money is related to power so the more money one has, the more powerful one is, and this also relates to reelection and image. During the 2012 congressional election senators, on average, raised $10,476,451 and representative, on average, raised $1,689,580 (Costa). These numbers are the reason why congress is referred to as the millionaires club, over half of the Senate and nearly half of the House are considered millionaires (Condon). Of course, it existed, just people didn t really know about it, or how it worked. That is, until the year 1687, when Isaac Newton came about. But first, let s back up. Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642. Funny how he was born on Christmas. A Christmas miracle perhaps! What wasn t a Christmas miracle, however, was that Isaac s father also named isaac newton, had died just three months before isaac had been born. When Isaac was three, his mother remarried a man named Reverend Barnabas Smith. Like all good storylines, Isaac resented his stepfather. He even held a grudge toward his mother for marrying him. When he confessed a list of sins by the age of nineteen, one of them was Threatening my father and mother Smith to burn them and the house over them. From the age of twelve to seventeen, isaac attended the King s school, Granath. While he was there, he was taught latin, greek, and was probably a great deal of mathematics. Unfortunately, he was removed from the school, and by october of the year 1659, was back home where he grew up in Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth, where his unfortunate mother, widowed for the second time, tried to make a farmer out of him. Inmates can be monitored in many different ways, from cell phones to tracking anklets. The Tracking Release Program should be put into effect more than it already is. This change will stop the waste of tax payer s money on meaningless crimes and other people s mistakes. It costs $700.00 a month to house one inmate and the cost of one employee s hourly wage of $10.50 (U.S. Marshal Service 2). Compare the cost to house one inmate to the cost of hiring one employee. The cost is substantially different. By the end, you will have a basic knowledge of how this program will save money and create jobs. First of all, not all inmates should be subjected to prison for their crimes. For example, not every crime is considered high priority, so this would mean they have a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a low level case where the person gets prosecuted, but not labeled as a high risk. With a misdemeanor, inmates could be put into the tracking reform program. The people who qualify for this would be breaking and entering, drugs, stalking, and probation for an entry level parole. The program also provides an extra layer of supervision with the goal of enhancing public safety in the community (Jackson 1). This program creates a safety net by monitoring the time and ... • 23. Speech Codes Theory Essay I. Speech codes theory Speech codes theory is an account of communication as a deeply cultured human activity. The theory, and the empirical research on which it is built, demonstrate that the kinds of local knowledge people deploy to talk about to characterize, interpret, and rationalize their communicative conduct is indeed local, particular knowledge, and that such knowledge can be discovered and described through systematic inquiry. This article describes the key theoretical commitments of speech codes theory, identifies its six propositions, illustrates research within the tradition, and assesses its purposes. Speech codes theory was first published in prototypical form with an introduction to the concept of speech codes and a presentation of four empirically grounded principles about speech codes (Philipsen, 1992). Then it was presented as a formal theoretical statement with five empirically grounded propositions, four of which were carried over intact from the earlier version (Philipsen, 1997). Speech codes theory was created for two purposes. One purpose was to distill some of what might be learned from a large body of fieldwork research on culturally distinctive ways of speaking. When the first version of speech codes theory was written, there had been established a large body of fieldwork about cultural ways of speaking that had been conducted and published under the auspices of the ethnography of speaking (Hymes, 1968). • 28. Reflection On Faith Faith is a very complex subject on how it can be obtained and what can be done after it has been achieved. The treasures of having faith brings a person to be saved from any evil. In the last chapter of Mark, it explains therefore true faith in Christ is a treasure beyond comparison which brings with it complete salvation and saves man from every evil (Mark [16:16]). When faith is within the person it also brings them righteousness, which gives the ability to break the chains within the person (Luther pg 11 par 2). In Luther s perspective, the Word of God contains wisdom, liberty, joy, and other morals, which faith alone can only obtain those moral traits. The term work Luther uses in his writings is mainly about a certain action people will do such as community service or volunteering. Faith is difficult to have since any type of services work cannot make a person to have faith. Luther claims that person is divided up in two parts, and any type of work of the outer part of the body has no effect in faith, but when a person is saved by faith, Luther suggest giving back by helping other people or do good causes. In the Christian life, there are two main parts in a person which is the spiritual part and the bodily part (Luther Pg 9 par 2). The spiritual part can also be called as inner or new man and the bodily part can also be called carnal or old man. Apostle explains the reason behind the spiritual part of a human being called new man and the bodily being called the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Essay On Greek Immigration For this assignment, I decided to focus my research on Greek immigrants. As I was reading page 797, I noticed the author mentioned, Greek restaurant owners provided a selection of American and Greek cuisines. It was also mentioned, Greek immigration most profoundly impacted mainstream foodservice (pg.797). I found these facts to be of great importance when discussing food choices, therefore I wanted to do more research on Greek Immigrants. I learned, after migrating to the United States, many Greek families claimed Michigan as their new home. More specifically, Greektown, located in Detroit, Michigan. I also discovered Germans were actually the first to settle in Greektown, then once they moved out, Greeks families began settling in this area. During the late 1800 s through the early 1900 s, a large population of immigrants from Greece emigrated to the United States. One way people overcome adversity is by identifying the problem. An example of this is from the (article video) of Captain Sullenberger landing the plane in the Hudson River. The text states that Cpt. Sullenberger said that he had a couple minutes to think after the geese had hit the plane s engine he had to think what he was going to do and he thought where he was going to land in about 1 minutes and 30 seconds. This clearly supports the point because Cpt. Sullenberger looks at his surroundings and revised all of his surroundings before landing the plane or turning the plane around and risking all of those people s lives. An example of how people overcome adversity is by facing it because Cpt. Sullenberger had to face that he had to land in the Hudson River to get all of the passengers on that flight.Evidence of this is that in the story in this piece Cpt. The And Implementation Of Rapid Response Teams Much like the human body, healthcare is a complex system that must be assessed and reviewed routinely to identify the dysfunctions or parts that are in need of intervention. It is the job of nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals to recognize and communicate when there is a need for change or improvement in order for patients to receive the highest standard of care and optimal health outcomes. The creation and implementation of Rapid Response Teams were one of the many strategies initiated in the 100,000 Lives Campaign (2004) instituted by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in effort to reduce morbidity and mortality in the United States health care system. According to Carlo Parker, the literature suggests that RRT s are underutilized either by delayed activation or failure to activate entirely. This underutilization is shown to lead to failure to rescue. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses decision making model during RRT activation and the frequency of the RRT activation (Parker, 2014). Lauri and Salantera (2002) have identified three decision making models that are utilized by nurses to make clinical judgments based off of information processing and intuitive humanistic theories (Parker, 2014). The first model is the analytical decision making, which involves the collection of data, forming a hypothesis and continuing to collect data until a decision has been reached (Parker, 2014). Secondly, the intuitive decision making is understanding without rationale (Parker, 2014). The third model is a combination of the analytical and intuitive decision making. The registered nurses (RN) who participated in this study were from an acute care unit who had activated the RRT at least once in the past 12 months. The RN s were between the ages of 24 57, 91% were female, 63% of them held a baccalaureate or master s degree in nursing and the average time working as an RN was 10 years (Parker, 2014). • 34. Cultural Differences Between European And Native Americans The cultural difference between the Europeans and Native Americans caused many clashes that led into destruction of land and the people. The culture differences led to a bloodshed in the war of Captivity which resulted in the Native American to migrate west into the European culture. The European Americans believed in and followed the practices of a monarchy government. They believed in commitment to the King or Queen of England and that one person holds all the power and total sovereignty until they die or give up their position. However, the Native Americans held to a more tribal form of government, they governed themselves and they helped each other out but they didn t have a central ruler. There are a large number of tribes within the Native American culture and they all have slightly different beliefs. Some native groups were oriented more towards hunting and gathering and depended on the spirits to help them find what they were out to look for. Other groups were more agricultural and looked for spirits to provide good weather for cropping. Although, they had different beliefs all of them established an animistic worldview and they had many things in common. After the Europeans moved to the new world the population expanded over time but due to the illnesses and diseases many people died. • 35. Executive Orders Of The American Presidency Executive Orders in the American Presidency By Niraj Patel POLI 100A Prof. James Ingram By definition, an executive order is a presidential policy directive that implements or interprets a federal statute, a constitutional provision, or a treaty. An executive order can also be categorized under executive directives, and executive proclamation. (1) Though many may think of an executive order as an alternative term for a presidential proclamation , it is not. Presidential proclamations are strictly reserved for public policy and for ceremonial purposes, such as the declaration of a day for remembrance, etc. Executive orders find their roots from not only the U.S. Constitution, but Congress as well. Though it s powers are derived from outside of the executive branch, executive orders do not require any sort of approval whatsoever, and the president can utilize these orders to set up policy and rules while ultimately negating any thought of public opposition. Furthermore, executive orders have the ability to be applied to a wide range of activities and categories, and in the past they have; from implementing internment camps during WWII, sending U.S. troops abroad, to ideals such as increasing the area of national forests. What makes executive orders such a hot topic is that historically, these orders only regulated the internal operational factors of governmental/federal agencies as well as to regulate and oversee public lands, but more recently, has ... It judges people, criticizes them, and makes them feel guilty when they do something incorrect. It is what makes people feel guilty and ashamed, it is their inner judge. It is the part of personality which holds all of individual s ideals that are required from parents and society (individual s sense of right and wrong). The Super Ego provides guidance in creating judgments. Freud had stated that the Super Ego starts to appear at age five. There are two parts of the Super Ego: * The Ego Ideal this involves the rules and standards for good behaviour. These behaviours consist of those which are permitted by parental and other authority figures. Following these rules leads to feelings of pride, value and achievement * The Conscience consists of details about things that are thought of being bad by parents and society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the authors above conclude their findings with references to gender stereotypes. Still others, represented in this review by Hayes and Samartseva, focus on and detail the way stereotypes affect gender communication. Hayes states that stereotypes are the single most cause of misunderstandings between the genders in the work place, especially larger organizations where the work force doesn t have a chance to develop closer relationships (2004). Hayes argues that when people are placed in a confrontation with an unknown person, or when that person s mood and attitude is an unknown factor, people fall back subconsciously to their stereotyped images in order to interpret both verbal and non verbal communication (2004). Samartseva discusses how stereotypes are conceptual frameworks built from observable behaviors that act as a way of predicting the world. However, she also points out that the development of stereotypes can lead to situations in which self filling prophecies rule perceptions (2002). This finding is also evidenced by studies of management styles in the workplace. Stewart and Van der Lippe depict the varying ways in which men and women view their opposite gendered superior. Stewart compares the preferred management style of male and females, stating that Women feel a need to be involved with their subordinates while men believe that good ...
