South Florida Community Health Center Case Analysis
SFCHC must also analyze other factors such as buyers and customers, resource availability for
expansion, competitor activity, new technologies and substitutes, and potential competitors (White
Griffith, 2016, p.509). These factors will help the board understand the profile needs of the
organization and identify areas of opportunities to ultimately help develop a sound strategic plan
(White Griffith, 2016).
Another factor to analyze is the strategic positioning of the organization because it will direct the
governing board s focus on critical areas to strategically position the organization in the evolving
healthcare market for success and better performance. The essence of strategic positioning is about

The Treaty Of Waitangi Or Te Tiriti O Waitangi
My brief look into the history of The Treaty of Waitangi or Te Tiriti o Waitangi, how, why and when it
was created. The preambles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi what its purposes were and the Articles within Te
Tiriti o Waitangi and how they were interpreted which led to considerable confusion. How a small
business like Kai Ora Honey has become successful and how it can relate back to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
to make a link to one of the Articles. Finally finishing with my thoughts on Te Tiriti o Waitangi from
what I know and what I think as a modern day Maori and a Pakeha and wht Te Tiriti o Waitangi means
to me.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi or The Treaty of Waitangi is the founding document of New Zealand. It is a
document that both Maori iwi, tribes, sub tribes and the Crown (British Monarchy Queen Victoria)
representatives made agreements upon. Te Tiriti o Waitangi was named after the place where Te Tiriti
o Waitangi was first signed which was Waitangi in the Bay of Islands, on the 6th of February
1840.This day is remembered and celebrated as a national holiday. It was signed by about 540 chiefs.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi was not a written law passed by a legislative body. It was a broad statement for
British officials and Maori chiefs to make a political agreement upon to start the process of building a
government in New Zealand. (Heritage, 2016) It was essentially an exchange of agreements to help
deal with new circumstances British and Maori were dealing with. The English version says the

In an ever expanding world where resource scarcity is discussed in side conversations and
overpopulation is being combatted by concerned nations, worldwide struggle of equal allocation of
vital resources persist. Biological resources and biodiversity in general are at the forefront of these
concerns. Decreasing biodiversity does not just pose a problem for the plants and animals that are
becoming increasingly endangered; individuals who have constructed their livelihood around the
availability of such resources face dire circumstances as scarcity arises. The greater the variety of
abundant plant and animal species present in the world, the greater the potential opportunity,
opportunities such as medical discoveries and newfound scientific knowledge that increase the
sustainability of life on Earth. However, tragedy of the commons, has led to overuse of biological
resources across the globe, throwing the issue of sustainability into question. While species extinction
is a natural process in the world ecosystem, the rate at which it has increased is not. In the past 65
million years the rate of extinction has gone from one to five species per year to roughly 1,000 to
10,000 times that rate (Diversity, 2013, pg. 1). This is no longer a matter of natural selection; this is a
matter of ineffective resource regulation worldwide. Despite extensive amounts of environmental
legislation actively in place, specie scarcity will continue to grow. The greatest challenge now

The Roles Of Drama In Beijing And Opera s Peking Opera
During the 17th and 18th century, drama played a huge role in impacting the urban environment of
Beijing and Edo, and its citizens. Drama, transcended through the virtuality of fictional play and
characters that come to parallel the everyday life of locals. Although Beijing and Edo are two different
cultural regions in the East, their similarity could be accounted for in their inclusiveness of the local
commoners through applying the worldview of lower rank members of society to execute the play.
However, their differences lie in the Edo culture instilling a certain sentiment within the urban people
to act on social injustice or issues. Though drama in Beijing remains to be an instrumental tool for
members of society to relay messages, and act a means to communicate their true thoughts that could
not otherwise be outspoken in a conservative and authoritarian era. In Beijing, the two most prominent
types of drama are known as Peking Opera and Chinese Shadow Theatre. In Peking Opera, troupes are
usually invited to enter the palace to perform their plays. However, the play that gets to be staged and
performed very much gets decided by the audience in the case that it is performed in the palace. Since
misconduct and outspokenness is highly frowned upon in the palace and court, Peking drama is often
used to relay implicit messages that the person selecting the drama wants the audience to comprehend.
For example, Empress Dowager Cixi often ordered a Peking Opera called

Desmond Doss Mission Statement
Desmond Doss was born in February 1919. He was the middle child. Audrey, his sister, was four years
older and Harold Edwards, his brother, was two years younger. He grew up up in his family home in
Lynchburg, Virginia. He was raised as a Seventh day Adventist, a denomination of Christianity that
believes everyone should follow the ten commandments and that the seventh day of the week is the
sabbath and it should be kept holy. Desmond kept the sixth commandment to heart, Thou shalt not kill
. Desmond wanted to serve his country but he vowed that he would never take up arms. Congress
wrote into the military draft that conscientious objectors would be assigned to the medical department.
Desmond was trained at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in a rifle company. Everyone in his division
hated and mocked conscientious objectors because most of them joined to get out of work. Since
Adventists believed Saturday was the Sabbath, Desmond got Saturday off and he would do extra work
Sunday to make up for it. Desmond finally earned the respect from his men when the company went
on a ruck march. Most of the them had fallen out from dehydration and foot injuries, so Desmond
treated them and they respected him for this. Desmond and his company was shipped to the
Philippines to fight the pacific war. Desmond s company was preparing to storm Guam ... Show more

Legalization Of Marijuana
Where do marijuana strains come from? A closer look into seed banks
By Alfonzo Porter
The legalization of marijuana across several states, in America, in recent years has caused many of the
nations , and the worlds , seed suppliers to garner much attention both in the public and the press.
While much of the spotlight has been unwelcomed; specifically for an industry that has heretofore
operated in the shadows, the booming legal pot industry in the United States has provided grounds for
further examination into the seed banks that supply and nourish our national marijuana appetite.
At first glance, the practice of purchasing marijuana seeds from the bank of your choice might appear
to be simple and straight forward. However, it is a process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Types Varieties:
Clone only variety The grower wants an identical replica of the plant. It is grown to create and
maintain an exact genetic footprint. Growing conditions, however, can have a huge impact on the
clone.
Stable seed variety This involves making a variety from a male and female plant and breeding them
over the course of time. Ultimately, the goal is to have a plant with the sought after characteristics.
Unstable seed varieties These plants can be produced quickly and do not require breeding over
multiple generations. Seed banks with a good name will typically not sell these kinds of seeds.
Wild varieties Refers to cannabis plants that grow wild in particular regions. They are used solely for
special types of cannabis.
The best and most well known seed banks are in Europe and can be shipped worldwide. It s a scary
proposition ordering cannabis seeds online for the first time, and it s important to make sure you
purchase your seeds from a trusted source. Not only will this help ensure your safety and security, it
also keeps you from getting caught up in a scam, conned or ripped off with poor quality seeds or
swindled by not receiving any seeds at all.

Rdc Property Design Analysis
5. Design considerations
The development of a new RDC requires an analysis of a range of criteria, to determine the optimal
outcome.
5.1 Ownership
The Truganina RDC property is owned by the Charter Hall Group with Coles contracted to a lease
expiring 2032 (The Urban Developer 2016). Private control over the site allows Coles flexibility of
operations and is cost effective due to the large volumes of freight handled (Bowersox, Closs Cooper

Essay On Emily Davison
Civil disobedience is the act of going against the law and refusal to do what the government says. It is
very common in many countries all over the world. Henry David Thoreau wrote a book on civil
disobedience which is very good. He speaks on a lot of things that are wrong with the government and
the citizens. It was first published in 1889. There are so many acts of civil disobedience that are
interesting but this one catches a lot of people s eyes. It is the case of Emily Davison. She fought for
the rights of women to vote in the United Kingdom. Davison went to jail on many occasions. Emily
had a sad but interesting death that impacted a lot of people. Emily Davison was born on October 11,
1872 in Blackheath, London. Her parents were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She got arrested plenty of more times. July 30, 1909 she was arrested for two months in prison for
obstruction. On September 4, 1909 she was arrested for two months for stone throwing at White City,
Manchester. October 20, 1909 she was in jail for a month for stone throwing at Radcliffe near
Manchester and on November 19, 1910 one month for breaking windows in the House of Commons.
She was arrested all of those times for throwing stones because her and other women would chain
themselves to government buildings and throw stones through the windows to gain their attention.
January 10, 1912 six months for setting fire to postal boxes at Holloway, London. Lastly on November
30, 1912 ten days for assaulting a vicar who she mistook to be David Lloyd George. Emily would do
all of this just to win the rights of women being able to vote and get equal rights as men.
Davison had a very interesting but tragic death. She died June 4, 1913 on a Wednesday. She got
injured at an horse race called the Epsom Derby. Emily was standing by the white rail near Tattenham
corner when a group of horses passed. She had on a trench coat and under it she had a flag in the
WSPU colors of purple, white, and green tied around her body. When the second group of horses
passed she climbed under the railing and raised her hands up. Emily tried to grab the rein of the King s
horse Anmer. Anmer knocked her over, rolled on his back, and started kicking her super hard. Horses

Romanticism In Life Of Pi
Life of Pi Yann Martel
Life of Pi reflects many of the themes we discussed this week. For the sake of wordcount, I m going to
assume that everyone is familiar with the story. If not, Shmoop has a decent, to the point plot summary
here: https://www.shmoop.com/life of pi/summary.html
The most evident similarity between Life of Pi and early Romanticism is the speaker s connection to
nature. Wordsworth and Coleridge are primarily enamored by nature at a macro level. In Tintern
Abbey, Wordsworth writes The day is come when I again repose / Here, under this dark sycamore, and
view / These plots of cottage ground, these orchard tufts (9 11), displaying his affinity for looking out
at the grandness of nature. Raised at a zoo, Pi s specific knowledge and deep connection to the animal
world is more akin to Charlotte Smith s botanical approach to native species in Beachy Head. That
said, Pi s love for nature is great and comparable to each piece we read this week.
While we didn t discuss it explicitly, I believe that Beachy Head introduces the sublime. The sheer
enormity of Beachy Head places it in the category of violent beauty. Reading even the first line of the
poem, On thy stupendous summit, rock sublime! (1), makes clear the awe inspiring nature of the cliff.
Alone at sea (with a Bengal tiger, no less), the sublime overwhelms Pi. Richard Parker, the tiger, is a
magnificent creature, but deadly, and the ocean is beautiful and terrifying in it s own right. The movie
portrays this well with stunning cinematography, displaying Pi s profound solitude on vast expanses of
sea and sky.
On a philosophical level, Life of Pi is about Pi Patel s relationship with religion. Pi is raised Hindu but
chooses to practice Catholicism and Islam as well. The book opens by telling us that Pi s is a story that
will make you believe in God (Martell 2012 x). Pi is devout in his beliefs about three religions, and
about nature and goodness. Like Wordsworth and Coleridge, Pi s faith is strong but separate from
traditional organized religion. Pi s beliefs are similar to Coleridge s one life (mentioned in The Eolian
Harp (24 25), a belief that all beings are connected spiritually through God. This is seen as Pi
considers the

Effective Communication As An Effective Leader
Communication is critical to the success of any business especially in the field of law enforcement. As
a leader, it is essential to convey operational objectives with clarity and purpose. The challenge is to
communicate in a manner that is effective in meaning and direct in intentions. Time must be invested
along with understanding, communication and the essential element of listening to work towards
progression, (Smith, 2011). Through effective communication, a leader can influence subordinates to
follow the vision, therefore leading the organization to future aspirations of success and longevity. In
order to be an effective leader you must be able to relate to others through open communication,
(Bennis, 2009). Effective communication is critical in establishing effective relationships within an
organization, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). In order to add clarity and acceptance of our vision a leader
needs to communicate the steps in getting there. These steps can be in the form of short term and long
term goals. Goals provide direction in obtaining our vision, they are also instrumental in the success of
an organization, (Lawler, 2003). The vision must incorporate values that are ethical and for the good
of the organization driving towards commitment and dedication to achieve. Without vision we have no
direction, we are limiting our abilities to grasp the future, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). Discipline and
direction are very important in creating a vision with clarity.

American Imperial Gothic
In his book, The American Imperial Gothic: Popular Culture, Empire, Violence, Johan Höglund
focuses on America as an empire by looking at conflict and violence portrayed in media throughout
the years. As a starting point he utilizes Patrick Brantlinger s concept of Imperial Gothic which refers
to the gothic literary aesthetic that arose in British writing during the decline of the British Empire.
Höglund uses the phrase imperial gothic to point not to a specific literary genre but also to any media
that considers the anxieties that arise during a period of time in which an empire wanes. The book
includes everything from clearly gothic literature/media popular during the 1930s Hollywood hayday
of monster movies like Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Dracula all the way to current pop culture via
The Walking Dead, The Lord of the Rings, and numerous recent horror films (notably The Texas
Chainsaw Massacre and The Exorcist).
The main idea throughout the book is the dichotomy within American popular culture of a fierce
defense of American freedom at all costs with an intolerance of those same violent means in others us
versus the primitive. Interestingly Höglund makes a point to not only use clearly gothic examples but
casts a broader net by treating this American imperial gothic more ... Show more content on

He also pulls examples from a variety of popular culture from the 1800s to the present. Therefore his
book is well supported and not especially difficult to understand. In order to glean more from this
book I will have to delve into some of the works that he mentioned. He refers to multiple concepts that
help contextualize the examples he uses from the aforementioned imperial gothic to neocolonialism
and postmodern theory. This approach makes for a book that is relatively readable on the surface but
that can also be considered in much greater depth with little

Virtue In The Odyssey
For centuries in literature, philosophers studied the idea of virtue to demonstrate the uphold of moral
excellence and righteousness within characters. Eventually becoming a staple in Western literature,
virtue can be described as the balance and imbalance of qualities specified by the philosopher Plato.
He thought much of virtue, and eventually defined it according to the four criteria: courage, prudence,
temperance, and justice. Plato portrayed courage as the showing of bravery in the midst of danger,
prudence is one s ability to show good judgment and to put other s needs before their own; temperance
is a person s knowledge of when to show restraint and justice is when one gives to others what is
owed to them. These characteristics not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shown with him and his crew, Odysseus seemingly has all interests in mind. One specific example of
prudent action is his quick and clear reasoning skills that allow him and his men to escape the cave of
the Cyclops safely. One example is after the death of his crewmen in Book 9, Odysseus speaks ...draw
my sharp sword from beside my thigh and smite him in the breast, where the midriff hold the liver,...
(Page 5) Although he was initially vengeful and bloodthirsty after the murder of his men by the
Cyclops, he reasonably put those thoughts aside, shown as he says ...But a second thought checked
me, for right there should we, too, have perished in utter ruin. For we should have not been able to
thrust back with our hands from the high door the mighty stone which he had set there. So then, with
wailing, we waited for the bright Dawn (Page 5). If Odysseus and his crew were to ever rationally
escape the cave, they would have to disregard their thoughts and wait for morning when the cyclops
would remove the large door. Odysseus s clear thinking and prudent nature on behalf of his shipmates,
to wait for morning and to keep the Cyclops alive, enabled him to plan reasonably even in a time of
murder and

Analysis of A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner and The...
In the short stories A Rose for Emily written by William Faulkner and The Yellow Wallpaper written
by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the protagonists experience mental illness, loneliness, feelings of being
in control of their lives, and feelings of being insane. Both main characters struggle against male
domination and control. The two stories take place in the late 1800 s early 1900 s, a time where men s
place in society was superior to that of women. Each story was written from a different perspective
and life experiences. A Rose for Emily was written by a man and told in third personal narration,

nothing wrong with her, only temporary nervous depression, a diagnosis that is confirmed by her

her husband insists on the room at the top of the house ostensibly because it has room for two beds.

Essay On Duke Ellington
Duke Ellington: 1899 1974 Edward Duke Kennedy Ellington was born April 29, 1899 in Washington,
D.C. Duke Ellington was born into a typical family with average income and growing up, the future
musician was home schooled by his parents. His father James Edward Ellington and mother Daisy
Kennedy Ellington were both pianist. His father played operatic arias while parlor songs were his
mother s first choice. It is an interesting fact that Duke is not actually Ellington s name, but it is only
his nickname, which children gave him when he was a little boy for his aristocratic manners and the
ability to dress elegant things. When Duke was seven years old, he began his piano training and took

Ellington s band thrived and played all throughout Washington and Virginia, usually playing for
embassy and private parties. His band included Sonny Greer on drums, his childhood friend Otto
Hardwick on alto saxophone, Elmer Snowden on banjo and Arthur Whetsol on trumpet. The group
performed for both African American and white audiences which was quite rare in those times. When
Ellington s drummer Sonny Greer joined the Wilber Sweatman Orchestra in New York City, he
decided to leave behind his successful career in Washington, D.C and moved to Harlem. Shortly after
his move to Harlem, in May of 1927, Andy Preer who had been leading the house band at the Cotton
Club died. In looking for a replacement, the gig went to Duke Ellington and his men. The clubs decor
was modelled after the old south of plantations and slavery, hence the name the Cotton Club . The club
was segregated, meaning only whites were allowed in the audience, while all the waiters and
entertainers were African American. What made Duke Ellington and his Cotton Club Orchestra
famous were the weekly broadcasts on radio station WHN. (Cotton) These broadcasts were heard all
over the country and gave Ellington national exposure. With the Great Depression worsening, the
recording industry too was hit by the financial crisis and that resulted into dropping of over 90% of

Limitation The total number of integrated carriers which are in a position to provide onestop
shopping for international logistics to US shippers is estimated to number less than 30 worldwide. The
data obtained reflect the perceptions of ten of these carriers, yet they cannot provide the statistical and
analytical comfort that a survey of a larger population would yield. This study, therefore, should be
considered exploratory in nature, rather than providing conclusive results. Definitions of one stop

Affordable Home Building
Research Question: Why are brand new homes being built but not affordable? Introduction: My family
was never the richest, always looking for help in many different ways. A struggle was my mom trying
to take care of three children all on her own, ensuring there was a roof over our heads, food in our
stomach and clothes on our backs. We have moved many times since I was about four years old, but
never did I think about how hard it was to find a new home each time. Although my mother was able
to get section 8 (which can be considered as the Housing Choice Voucher which is money given to
low income families to help pay the rent), it is still very tough to find a home which the voucher

Currently Boston has about 28,400 low income households who need a home that is affordable to their
income. Therefore in thirteen years they hope to have at least 38,200 units of affordable housing. Dees

toward affordable housing. We have to be able to get families out of danger and into safety by getting
them into their own homes but the sooner the better.
Solvency: To make this work we need to start raising money because money of course does not grow
on trees. There can be big Boston events held to raise money, such as marathons, festivals and more,
which can not only help the community come together but also earn the money to build homes that are

Philippines s Macroeconomic Perspective Of The...
Philippines repeatedly experienced boom and bust in its economy since 1980. Having faced huge debt
crisis in 1983 and the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997, it can be said that the nation is back on its feet
from being the sick man of Asia to a tiger cub, and becoming realigned with the ASEAN 6
(Worldbank). The GDP growth has been growing at 4.5 percent under Macapagal Arroyo and even
better under Aquino s at 6 percent. Account balances also recorded surpluses repeatedly since 2003
(CIA Factbook).
There are many factors that played to this growth, clean governance, better tax collection, the growing
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and the remittances by over 4 million overseas Filipino workers
(OFW). Despite this growth, poverty is still among the challenge of the country. With a population of
over 99 million (est. 2014), 25.2 percent is still living under poverty line (CIA Factbook). By
discussing the topics mentioned above this report will further deliver the macroeconomic perspective
of the Philippines.

Long Duration Mission Behavioral Health And Performance...
A well written and effective research paper has to follow the IMRAD structure. This means it should
have an introduction, methods section, results section, and discussion. The article An Operation
Approach to Long Duration Mission Behavioral Health and Performance Factors written by
Christopher F. Flynn is a good example of a well written research paper. This paper is about the
psychological effects of astronauts being in space for a long period of time. This paper is an effective
research paper because of the fact that it follows the IMRAD structure. It also is effective because the
author establishes credibility by using research from other former researchers. Most scholarly research
papers have more than one author. This scholarly research paper only has one. It does not state to
which degree of experience the author is though. There is a very specialized audience for this research
paper. The audience is more for those who study psychology and those who specialize in aerospace
and picking the people to go to space. I would think that those who are thinking of becoming an
astronaut would read this research paper as well to get a feel for what they could experience while in
space. The audience would also seem to be more of researchers rather than any other type of experts.
If they were to be anything else, it would seem that they would be some kind of scientific educators or
possibly policy makers trying to see what they could possibly do to make sure that those

and unconditional love, and love of power. The first, love being a mask for hate, is show in Great

Pros And Cons Of Alexander Hamilton Vs. Aaron Hamilton
In many U.S. history classes all over the country, the Alexander Hamilton Vs. Aaron Burr duel is
taught with little detail. Hamilton is a founding father, Burr is the Vice President, they challenge each
other to a duel and Hamilton dies. However there is much more to the story as Hamilton consciously
made the decision to throw away his shot and give Burr all of the power. This may not be the kind of
decision that most people would make in this situation, but for Hamilton it was necessary. Alexander
Hamilton had been through a great deal of hardships in his life. In the beginning his childhood was
dark and filled with death, he tainted his love life and career with an affair, he gave his son fatal
advice, and by speaking what he thought to be true he landed himself a spot in the duel against Burr.
Within all of these aspects, Hamilton found himself helpless and no matter what he tried, he could not
seem to fix the situation. Perhaps Hamilton decided to lay his fate in the hands of someone else for
once because he never truly felt in control. When it comes to Alexander Hamilton s early life, it is no
surprise that he spoke very little of his upbringings. Hamilton himself said, My birth is the subject of
the most humiliating criticism . This comment is in part due to the fact that his mother, Rachel, was
considered a prostitute for leaving her husband and becoming pregnant with an illegitimate child
Alexander. This seemed to have doomed Hamilton from the start. When he was

The Cause of the Dinosaur Extinction Essay
The Cause of the Dinosaur Extinction
The biggest mystery surrounding the dinosaur is how did they die? For over 130 million years
dinosaurs ruled the earth. Then 65 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period, they died
out. Nobody can really say what actually eliminated the species, although everyone has their very own
idea. Asteroid impact, atmospheric changes (hot to cold), catastrophic eruptions and astronomical
events (supernovas etc.). Some have ventured that early mammal inhabitation slowly pushed the
dinosaurs to extinction. The most favored theory in the scientific field is that of the meteor impact. As
always though, knowing when is part of discovering how and why.

By testing sediment and recording whether it was deposited under conditions of normal polarity and
then measuring successive layers, we can build a time chart. By matching different charts from
different areas with similar fossils, a more global correlation can be made. These techniques led to the
discovery of the boundary between the two eras. A single thin layer of clay found within
predominantly limestone rocks established this. By comparing the marine life found in, above, and
below the clay, the marine life, like the dinosaurs, had been terribly affected by the extinction event.
The percentage of life in the upper layers was dramatically lower than that in the lower. This was far
more compelling than what was suggested by dinosaur s fossils. Other samples of the clay were taken
to laboratories to be analyzed. Part of the results showed a large concentration of platinum and
iridium. These elements are very rare on the surface of the earth at the moment but they are present in
meteoric dust that rains down from space at a known rate. That rate allowed for a measurement of how
long it took for the clay to form. Surprisingly, the clay held almost 30 times more iridium than the
limestone layers above and below the clay. Similar layers in other parts of the world gave the same
results. The conclusion was that a giant meteorite hit the Earth 65 million years ago and had released a

Gdp And Total Expenditure On Purchasing A New Houses Essay
1. GDP is the monetary value allocated to all goods and services produced within a given country.
This excludes the net income accruing from abroad. GDP can be measured using the total expenditure
approach for calculating National Income as a summation of total expenditure on commodities
produced in a given economy. Any expenditure on purchasing a new houses is excluded. The final
consumption of the government is also included together with all current expenditure. Their
expenditure on fixed assets is also included. The value of the physical increase in inventories during
the course if the year is also included. The summation of all these components is the Total Domestic
Expenditure, TDE. Adding up expenditure on export to the TDE determines the Total Final
Expenditure. Subtracting all expenditure on imports from this total results to a measure known as the
GDP at market rate. Subtracting taxes on expenditure levied by the government and adding back the
total amount of subsidy leads to the arrival at a figure known as GDP at factor cost. National income is
however affected by interest, rent and profit accruing from abroad and the net of the property income
from abroad ought to be added to the GDP. This leads to the arrival at the GDP at factor cost. GDP can
also be arrived at by using factor incomes in the computation of National Income. Under this
approach, the summation of individual incomes arrives at the domestic income, as each time
something is produced and sold,

immunity can reflect the state equality concept. According to customary law and Article 1 of the
Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property: The present
Convention applies to the immunity of a State and its property from the jurisdiction of the courts of
another State. This can be interpreted that states will be protected from being held responsibility

means such as negotiation rather than judicial means. Immunity principle has changed from an
absolute to restrictive approach. At the beginning, state sovereignty was supreme, so absolute
immunity could be applied. When states began to have commercial interests, immunity was granted
only for jure imperii gorvenment acts, but excluded jure gestionis commercial activity. Today
restrictive immunity is generally accepted. The United Nations Convention on Jurisdictional

Atomic Theories During The 1800 s
Atomic Theories
1. John Dalton
John Dalton based his theory on Democritus findings. This was that matter could be divided and split
into several smaller units , eventually forming a tiny particle that couldn t be divided. This particle is
an atom. Democritus and other Ancient Greeks could not support their theory or findings due to the
lack of technology, equipment and understanding of atoms. Dalton had his own concept about the
understanding of atoms, since he couldn t develop or enhance Democritus theory. This was that all
atoms of different elements can be distinguished from each other by the differences in the atoms
weights. He shared his theory with other scientists and researchers during his lecture at the Royal
Institution in 1803. His theory was based around the following key points:
1) Matter is made up of atoms; atoms are inseparable and can t be destroyed.
2) Atoms of a certain element have the same mass and chemical properties.
3) Compounds are formed by a mixture of two or more types of atom.
4) Chemical reactions cause the rearrangement of atoms.
John Dalton used his theory to change adapt the idea of combining chemicals during the 1800 s.
However his ways of finding the weights of atoms was not very accurate. For example, he thought that

The Case Against Perfection By Michael Sandel
In Michael Sandel s essay, The Case Against Perfection, he starts by wondering if genetic engineering
is moral. He used Dolly the cloned sheep as an example of bioengineering that could be used on
humans in the future. He then compares it to designer children, children whose parents choice their
genes for them, and points out that similar arguments that can be made against both of them.
Sandel talks about why we have a problem with medical and genetic enhancements, using examples.
The first is muscle enhancement. Using the research of H. Lee Sweeney, of the University of
Pennsylvania, on muscle repair and strengthen that was used on mice as an example, Sandel shows the
potential of genetic engineering advancements. The second was about memory enhancement. Some
research was mentioned about inserting memory linked gene into mice embryo makes them smarter.
Sandel focuses more on the market for memory enhancing drugs because the market is a better
indication of what people would do with improved memories. There is already a way to make children
taller; human growth hormone is given to children with a hormone deficiency to help them grow to
normal size, but some parents want to use it on their normal children to make them taller. Another ...

College-Students Should Step Back From Helicopter-Parents
Why college students should take a step back from their helicopter parents
Stanford University professor Castle deserves support for her statements in her article The case for
breaking up with your parents (The Chronicle Review, May 6, 2012) for various reasons. She claims
that excessive parental engagement in the lives of college students has a negative influence on the
students intellectual and emotional autonomy. The latter can only be attained by detaching themselves
from their parents. Prof. Castle refers to this concept as self orphaning .
In her article, Castle states that each of us at some point need to think about the homes from which we
emerge and what we really think of them (Prof. Castle). Parents often find it self evident that their
college students always make themselves available for them. Moreover, they put their own emotional
needs ahead of the developmental needs of their children. It is only logical they want what is best for
their children, but taking care of everything for them will not have a positive outcome in the long run.

Colossian Epistle To The Church In Colossae
The epistle to the church in Colossae was written by Paul during his incarceration at Rome in A.D. 60.
Many years after the establishment of the church, Epaphras travels to Rome to visit Paul and bring
some good news of the Colossian congregation. But the main purpose of his visit is to request Paul s
help against the heresies that were tearing at the core of the Colossian church. Paul s letter to the
Colossians not only exhorts and cautions, but primarily focuses on the supremacy of Christ and the
power of the gospel message (Elwell and Yarbrough 301).
Paul begins his Colossians epistle by expressing his interest in the church. He had never had a chance
to visit Colossae, for this community of faith was the result of his nearby ministry in Ephesus. Paul
speaks of gratitude for the faith the Colossians have shown thus far, as we have heard of your faith in
Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints (English Standard Version, Col. 1.4). ...

false teachers, they are to understand who they are in Christ and experience the true freedom that
knowledge brings. Their sin debt has been paid by the work of Christ on the cross, and they are now
alive to God. He exhorts the Colossians to progress in faith, with the living Christ as their

Marbury Versus Madison

John Adams lost his bid for re election to Thomas Jefferson in 1800, the Federalist Congress increased
the number of circuit courts. Adams placed Federalist judges in these new positions. One of the
justices of the peace, William Marbury, filed a writ of mandamus demanding Secretary of State James
Madison deliver the appointments. The Supreme Court led by John Marshall denied the request citing
part of the Judiciary Act of 1789 as unconstitutional. This historic court case established the concept

As part of the Revolution of 1800, President Thomas Jefferson and his Democratic Republican
followers launched a series of attacks against the Federalist controlled courts. The new Democratic
Republican controlled Congress easily eliminated most of the midnight judges by repealing the
Judiciary Act in 1802. They impeached Supreme Court justice Samuel Chase, but acquitted him
amidst inner party squabbles. The Chase acquittal coupled with Marshall s impeccably argued
decision put an end to the Jeffersonian attack (Marbury verses Madison, 1803). Some of the issues
that came up and the ruling were as followed: 1. Does Marbury have a right to the commission? Yes.
Marbury has a right to the commission. The order granting the commission takes effect when the
Executive s constitutional power of appointment has been exercised, and the power has been exercised
when the last act required from the person possessing the power has been performed. The grant of the
commission to Marbury became effective when signed by President Adams. 2. Does the law grant
Marbury a remedy? Yes. The law grants Marbury a remedy. The very essence of civil liberty certainly
consists in the right of every individual to claim the protection of the laws whenever he receives an
injury. One of the first duties of government is to afford that protection. Where a specific duty

The Path Of Life In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
In the poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost, as the poem advances, the author s attitude and
choices are revealed as the poem develops. The poem is all about choices and what his attitude is as
the poem develops. The poem talks mostly about a path of life that a person will choose and that they
will have to forever follow that path of life, because they can t change the past no matter how much
they try. In the end, once he s old, he might regret the decision and ponder if he made the right
decision, but he won t be able to do anything in the end because he is a realist. Although there are
many stanzas, the most important stanza is about two roads and how he must make a choice, but he is
unsure of which path he should take. Also, the poem develops in many ways through the attitude of
each stanza because he is dwelling on which path he will take. Between the first stanza to the fifth
stanza, it talks about how he is sorry for how he can t take both roads and that life is forcing him to
choose to go down a path. In the poem it states, And I looked down on as far as I could. To where it
bent in the undergrowth (Frost 4 5). This shows, that this was a monumental part of his life, but if he
chose the wrong path, he might regret it for the rest of his life, so he tries to see beyond, but the
undergrowth blocks his sight. The undergrowth is symbolic because it is about growth of trees and
shrubs like how he must take that path and see for himself what will lie in the end.

Motivation For Witchcraft
Throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth century, witchcraft was widespread throughout various
areas of the world. Today, witchcraft may be subtly displayed in children s books, where a witch often
an elderly woman is shown travelling by broomstick or casting evil spells. Back then, people held
allegations against others for using this black magic, and, in turn, some societies conducted
persecutions against such individuals. These persecuted, and often executed individuals, were often
said to be using their evil in worship of the Devil. Now that we see these ideas of black magic in
children s books, it may appear that these witch panics were extreme. Before we make assumptions
about the accusers of witches, we must consider further details in attempt to understand their
underlying motivations to accept witchcraft beliefs. As Darren Oldridge argues, there may be multiple
factors for this acceptance of witchcraft beliefs. One motivation that is evident is the absorption of
power among the persecutors. Through time, since the start of witchcraft, witches became responsible
for more and more issues, reflecting the span of influence persecutors held. It is important to consider
the beginning of witchcraft prevalence. Since witchcraft allegations were often associated with the
Devil, it must have been a Christian phenomenon. In Europe, where many witch trials took place,
Christianity was extremely prevalent in the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Therefore,

  • 3. The Treaty Of Waitangi Or Te Tiriti O Waitangi My brief look into the history of The Treaty of Waitangi or Te Tiriti o Waitangi, how, why and when it was created. The preambles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi what its purposes were and the Articles within Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they were interpreted which led to considerable confusion. How a small business like Kai Ora Honey has become successful and how it can relate back to Te Tiriti o Waitangi to make a link to one of the Articles. Finally finishing with my thoughts on Te Tiriti o Waitangi from what I know and what I think as a modern day Maori and a Pakeha and wht Te Tiriti o Waitangi means to me. Te Tiriti o Waitangi or The Treaty of Waitangi is the founding document of New Zealand. It is a document that both Maori iwi, tribes, sub tribes and the Crown (British Monarchy Queen Victoria) representatives made agreements upon. Te Tiriti o Waitangi was named after the place where Te Tiriti o Waitangi was first signed which was Waitangi in the Bay of Islands, on the 6th of February 1840.This day is remembered and celebrated as a national holiday. It was signed by about 540 chiefs. Te Tiriti o Waitangi was not a written law passed by a legislative body. It was a broad statement for British officials and Maori chiefs to make a political agreement upon to start the process of building a government in New Zealand. (Heritage, 2016) It was essentially an exchange of agreements to help deal with new circumstances British and Maori were dealing with. The English version says the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Southern Ocean Sanctuary In an ever expanding world where resource scarcity is discussed in side conversations and overpopulation is being combatted by concerned nations, worldwide struggle of equal allocation of vital resources persist. Biological resources and biodiversity in general are at the forefront of these concerns. Decreasing biodiversity does not just pose a problem for the plants and animals that are becoming increasingly endangered; individuals who have constructed their livelihood around the availability of such resources face dire circumstances as scarcity arises. The greater the variety of abundant plant and animal species present in the world, the greater the potential opportunity, opportunities such as medical discoveries and newfound scientific knowledge that increase the sustainability of life on Earth. However, tragedy of the commons, has led to overuse of biological resources across the globe, throwing the issue of sustainability into question. While species extinction is a natural process in the world ecosystem, the rate at which it has increased is not. In the past 65 million years the rate of extinction has gone from one to five species per year to roughly 1,000 to 10,000 times that rate (Diversity, 2013, pg. 1). This is no longer a matter of natural selection; this is a matter of ineffective resource regulation worldwide. Despite extensive amounts of environmental legislation actively in place, specie scarcity will continue to grow. The greatest challenge now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Roles Of Drama In Beijing And Opera s Peking Opera During the 17th and 18th century, drama played a huge role in impacting the urban environment of Beijing and Edo, and its citizens. Drama, transcended through the virtuality of fictional play and characters that come to parallel the everyday life of locals. Although Beijing and Edo are two different cultural regions in the East, their similarity could be accounted for in their inclusiveness of the local commoners through applying the worldview of lower rank members of society to execute the play. However, their differences lie in the Edo culture instilling a certain sentiment within the urban people to act on social injustice or issues. Though drama in Beijing remains to be an instrumental tool for members of society to relay messages, and act a means to communicate their true thoughts that could not otherwise be outspoken in a conservative and authoritarian era. In Beijing, the two most prominent types of drama are known as Peking Opera and Chinese Shadow Theatre. In Peking Opera, troupes are usually invited to enter the palace to perform their plays. However, the play that gets to be staged and performed very much gets decided by the audience in the case that it is performed in the palace. Since misconduct and outspokenness is highly frowned upon in the palace and court, Peking drama is often used to relay implicit messages that the person selecting the drama wants the audience to comprehend. For example, Empress Dowager Cixi often ordered a Peking Opera called ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He grew up up in his family home in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was raised as a Seventh day Adventist, a denomination of Christianity that believes everyone should follow the ten commandments and that the seventh day of the week is the sabbath and it should be kept holy. Desmond kept the sixth commandment to heart, Thou shalt not kill . Desmond wanted to serve his country but he vowed that he would never take up arms. Congress wrote into the military draft that conscientious objectors would be assigned to the medical department. Desmond was trained at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in a rifle company. Everyone in his division hated and mocked conscientious objectors because most of them joined to get out of work. Since Adventists believed Saturday was the Sabbath, Desmond got Saturday off and he would do extra work Sunday to make up for it. Desmond finally earned the respect from his men when the company went on a ruck march. Most of the them had fallen out from dehydration and foot injuries, so Desmond treated them and they respected him for this. A closer look into seed banks By Alfonzo Porter The legalization of marijuana across several states, in America, in recent years has caused many of the nations , and the worlds , seed suppliers to garner much attention both in the public and the press. While much of the spotlight has been unwelcomed; specifically for an industry that has heretofore operated in the shadows, the booming legal pot industry in the United States has provided grounds for further examination into the seed banks that supply and nourish our national marijuana appetite. Types Varieties: Clone only variety The grower wants an identical replica of the plant. It is grown to create and maintain an exact genetic footprint. Growing conditions, however, can have a huge impact on the clone. Stable seed variety This involves making a variety from a male and female plant and breeding them over the course of time. Ultimately, the goal is to have a plant with the sought after characteristics. Unstable seed varieties These plants can be produced quickly and do not require breeding over multiple generations. Seed banks with a good name will typically not sell these kinds of seeds. Wild varieties Refers to cannabis plants that grow wild in particular regions. They are used solely for special types of cannabis. The best and most well known seed banks are in Europe and can be shipped worldwide. • 10. Essay On Emily Davison Civil disobedience is the act of going against the law and refusal to do what the government says. It is very common in many countries all over the world. Henry David Thoreau wrote a book on civil disobedience which is very good. He speaks on a lot of things that are wrong with the government and the citizens. It was first published in 1889. There are so many acts of civil disobedience that are interesting but this one catches a lot of people s eyes. It is the case of Emily Davison. • 11. Romanticism In Life Of Pi Life of Pi Yann Martel Life of Pi reflects many of the themes we discussed this week. For the sake of wordcount, I m going to assume that everyone is familiar with the story. If not, Shmoop has a decent, to the point plot summary here: https://www.shmoop.com/life of pi/summary.html The most evident similarity between Life of Pi and early Romanticism is the speaker s connection to nature. Wordsworth and Coleridge are primarily enamored by nature at a macro level. In Tintern Abbey, Wordsworth writes The day is come when I again repose / Here, under this dark sycamore, and view / These plots of cottage ground, these orchard tufts (9 11), displaying his affinity for looking out at the grandness of nature. Raised at a zoo, Pi s specific knowledge and deep connection to the animal world is more akin to Charlotte Smith s botanical approach to native species in Beachy Head. That said, Pi s love for nature is great and comparable to each piece we read this week. While we didn t discuss it explicitly, I believe that Beachy Head introduces the sublime. The sheer enormity of Beachy Head places it in the category of violent beauty. Reading even the first line of the poem, On thy stupendous summit, rock sublime! (1), makes clear the awe inspiring nature of the cliff. Alone at sea (with a Bengal tiger, no less), the sublime overwhelms Pi. Richard Parker, the tiger, is a magnificent creature, but deadly, and the ocean is beautiful and terrifying in it s own right. The movie portrays this well with stunning cinematography, displaying Pi s profound solitude on vast expanses of sea and sky. On a philosophical level, Life of Pi is about Pi Patel s relationship with religion. Pi is raised Hindu but chooses to practice Catholicism and Islam as well. The book opens by telling us that Pi s is a story that will make you believe in God (Martell 2012 x). Pi is devout in his beliefs about three religions, and about nature and goodness. Like Wordsworth and Coleridge, Pi s faith is strong but separate from traditional organized religion. Pi s beliefs are similar to Coleridge s one life (mentioned in The Eolian Harp (24 25), a belief that all beings are connected spiritually through God. This is seen as Pi considers the ... • 12. Effective Communication As An Effective Leader Communication is critical to the success of any business especially in the field of law enforcement. As a leader, it is essential to convey operational objectives with clarity and purpose. The challenge is to communicate in a manner that is effective in meaning and direct in intentions. Time must be invested along with understanding, communication and the essential element of listening to work towards progression, (Smith, 2011). Through effective communication, a leader can influence subordinates to follow the vision, therefore leading the organization to future aspirations of success and longevity. In order to be an effective leader you must be able to relate to others through open communication, (Bennis, 2009). Effective communication is critical in establishing effective relationships within an organization, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). In order to add clarity and acceptance of our vision a leader needs to communicate the steps in getting there. These steps can be in the form of short term and long term goals. Goals provide direction in obtaining our vision, they are also instrumental in the success of an organization, (Lawler, 2003). The vision must incorporate values that are ethical and for the good of the organization driving towards commitment and dedication to achieve. Without vision we have no direction, we are limiting our abilities to grasp the future, (Kouzes and Posner, 2012). Discipline and direction are very important in creating a vision with clarity. ... • 13. American Imperial Gothic In his book, The American Imperial Gothic: Popular Culture, Empire, Violence, Johan Höglund focuses on America as an empire by looking at conflict and violence portrayed in media throughout the years. As a starting point he utilizes Patrick Brantlinger s concept of Imperial Gothic which refers to the gothic literary aesthetic that arose in British writing during the decline of the British Empire. Höglund uses the phrase imperial gothic to point not to a specific literary genre but also to any media that considers the anxieties that arise during a period of time in which an empire wanes. The book includes everything from clearly gothic literature/media popular during the 1930s Hollywood hayday of monster movies like Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Dracula all the way to current pop culture via The Walking Dead, The Lord of the Rings, and numerous recent horror films (notably The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Exorcist). The main idea throughout the book is the dichotomy within American popular culture of a fierce defense of American freedom at all costs with an intolerance of those same violent means in others us versus the primitive. Eventually becoming a staple in Western literature, virtue can be described as the balance and imbalance of qualities specified by the philosopher Plato. Hamilton is a founding father, Burr is the Vice President, they challenge each other to a duel and Hamilton dies. However there is much more to the story as Hamilton consciously made the decision to throw away his shot and give Burr all of the power. This may not be the kind of decision that most people would make in this situation, but for Hamilton it was necessary. Alexander Hamilton had been through a great deal of hardships in his life. In the beginning his childhood was dark and filled with death, he tainted his love life and career with an affair, he gave his son fatal advice, and by speaking what he thought to be true he landed himself a spot in the duel against Burr. Within all of these aspects, Hamilton found himself helpless and no matter what he tried, he could not seem to fix the situation. Perhaps Hamilton decided to lay his fate in the hands of someone else for once because he never truly felt in control. When it comes to Alexander Hamilton s early life, it is no surprise that he spoke very little of his upbringings. Hamilton himself said, My birth is the subject of the most humiliating criticism . By testing sediment and recording whether it was deposited under conditions of normal polarity and then measuring successive layers, we can build a time chart. By matching different charts from different areas with similar fossils, a more global correlation can be made. These techniques led to the discovery of the boundary between the two eras. A single thin layer of clay found within predominantly limestone rocks established this. By comparing the marine life found in, above, and below the clay, the marine life, like the dinosaurs, had been terribly affected by the extinction event. The percentage of life in the upper layers was dramatically lower than that in the lower. This was far more compelling than what was suggested by dinosaur s fossils. Other samples of the clay were taken to laboratories to be analyzed. Part of the results showed a large concentration of platinum and iridium. These elements are very rare on the surface of the earth at the moment but they are present in meteoric dust that rains down from space at a known rate. That rate allowed for a measurement of how long it took for the clay to form. Surprisingly, the clay held almost 30 times more iridium than the limestone layers above and below the clay. This excludes the net income accruing from abroad. GDP can be measured using the total expenditure approach for calculating National Income as a summation of total expenditure on commodities produced in a given economy. Any expenditure on purchasing a new houses is excluded. The final consumption of the government is also included together with all current expenditure. Their expenditure on fixed assets is also included. The value of the physical increase in inventories during the course if the year is also included. The summation of all these components is the Total Domestic Expenditure, TDE. Adding up expenditure on export to the TDE determines the Total Final Expenditure. Subtracting all expenditure on imports from this total results to a measure known as the GDP at market rate. Subtracting taxes on expenditure levied by the government and adding back the total amount of subsidy leads to the arrival at a figure known as GDP at factor cost. National income is however affected by interest, rent and profit accruing from abroad and the net of the property income from abroad ought to be added to the GDP. This leads to the arrival at the GDP at factor cost. GDP can also be arrived at by using factor incomes in the computation of National Income. He shared his theory with other scientists and researchers during his lecture at the Royal Institution in 1803. His theory was based around the following key points: 1) Matter is made up of atoms; atoms are inseparable and can t be destroyed. For example, he thought that Oxygen had an atomic weight of 7 instead of 8. Despite the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 30. The Case Against Perfection By Michael Sandel In Michael Sandel s essay, The Case Against Perfection, he starts by wondering if genetic engineering is moral. He used Dolly the cloned sheep as an example of bioengineering that could be used on humans in the future. He then compares it to designer children, children whose parents choice their genes for them, and points out that similar arguments that can be made against both of them. Sandel talks about why we have a problem with medical and genetic enhancements, using examples. The first is muscle enhancement. Using the research of H. Lee Sweeney, of the University of Pennsylvania, on muscle repair and strengthen that was used on mice as an example, Sandel shows the potential of genetic engineering advancements. The second was about memory enhancement. Some research was mentioned about inserting memory linked gene into mice embryo makes them smarter. Sandel focuses more on the market for memory enhancing drugs because the market is a better indication of what people would do with improved memories. They only take sperm for college graduates because that is what the customer wants. College-Students Should Step Back From Helicopter-Parents Why college students should take a step back from their helicopter parents Stanford University professor Castle deserves support for her statements in her article The case for breaking up with your parents (The Chronicle Review, May 6, 2012) for various reasons. She claims that excessive parental engagement in the lives of college students has a negative influence on the students intellectual and emotional autonomy. The latter can only be attained by detaching themselves from their parents. Prof. Castle refers to this concept as self orphaning . In her article, Castle states that each of us at some point need to think about the homes from which we emerge and what we really think of them (Prof. Castle). Parents often find it self evident that their college students always make themselves available for them. Moreover, they put their own emotional needs ahead of the developmental needs of their children. It is only logical they want what is best for their children, but taking care of everything for them will not have a positive outcome in the long run. It is clear that the relations between higher education institutions and parents are changing. The latter are constantly showing more and more interest in their college student s education. Higher education professionals agree with each other that higher institutions should not become landing pads for helicopter parents (University of Houston Law Center). • 32. Colossian Epistle To The Church In Colossae The epistle to the church in Colossae was written by Paul during his incarceration at Rome in A.D. 60. Many years after the establishment of the church, Epaphras travels to Rome to visit Paul and bring some good news of the Colossian congregation. But the main purpose of his visit is to request Paul s help against the heresies that were tearing at the core of the Colossian church. Paul s letter to the Colossians not only exhorts and cautions, but primarily focuses on the supremacy of Christ and the power of the gospel message (Elwell and Yarbrough 301). Paul begins his Colossians epistle by expressing his interest in the church. He had never had a chance to visit Colossae, for this community of faith was the result of his nearby ministry in Ephesus. Paul speaks of gratitude for the faith the Colossians have shown thus far, as we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints (English Standard Version, Col. 1.4). ... Rather than subjecting themselves to the bondage of false teachers, they are to understand who they are in Christ and experience the true freedom that knowledge brings. Their sin debt has been paid by the work of Christ on the cross, and they are now alive to God. He exhorts the Colossians to progress in faith, with the living Christ as their ... Marbury Versus Madison | | | | Marbury versus Madison Sarah McClam MARBURY VERSUS MADISON In the weeks after John Adams lost his bid for re election to Thomas Jefferson in 1800, the Federalist Congress increased the number of circuit courts. Adams placed Federalist judges in these new positions. One of the justices of the peace, William Marbury, filed a writ of mandamus demanding Secretary of State James Madison deliver the appointments. The Supreme Court led by John Marshall denied the request citing part of the Judiciary Act of 1789 as unconstitutional. This historic court case established the concept of Judicial Review or the ability of the Judiciary Branch to declare a law unconstitutional. This case brought the Judicial Branch of the government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As part of the Revolution of 1800, President Thomas Jefferson and his Democratic Republican followers launched a series of attacks against the Federalist controlled courts. The new Democratic Republican controlled Congress easily eliminated most of the midnight judges by repealing the Judiciary Act in 1802. They impeached Supreme Court justice Samuel Chase, but acquitted him amidst inner party squabbles. The Chase acquittal coupled with Marshall s impeccably argued decision put an end to the Jeffersonian attack (Marbury verses Madison, 1803). Some of the issues that came up and the ruling were as followed: 1. Does Marbury have a right to the commission? Yes. Marbury has a right to the commission. The order granting the commission takes effect when the Executive s constitutional power of appointment has been exercised, and the power has been exercised when the last act required from the person possessing the power has been performed. The grant of the commission to Marbury became effective when signed by President Adams. 2. Does the law grant Marbury a remedy? Yes. The law grants Marbury a remedy. The very essence of civil liberty certainly consists in the right of every individual to claim the protection of the laws whenever he receives an injury. One of the first duties of government is to afford that protection. Where a specific duty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Path Of Life In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken In the poem, The Road Not Taken, by Robert Frost, as the poem advances, the author s attitude and choices are revealed as the poem develops. The poem is all about choices and what his attitude is as the poem develops. The poem talks mostly about a path of life that a person will choose and that they will have to forever follow that path of life, because they can t change the past no matter how much they try. In the end, once he s old, he might regret the decision and ponder if he made the right decision, but he won t be able to do anything in the end because he is a realist. Although there are many stanzas, the most important stanza is about two roads and how he must make a choice, but he is unsure of which path he should take. Also, the poem develops in many ways through the attitude of each stanza because he is dwelling on which path he will take. Between the first stanza to the fifth stanza, it talks about how he is sorry for how he can t take both roads and that life is forcing him to choose to go down a path. In the poem it states, And I looked down on as far as I could. To where it bent in the undergrowth (Frost 4 5). This shows, that this was a monumental part of his life, but if he chose the wrong path, he might regret it for the rest of his life, so he tries to see beyond, but the undergrowth blocks his sight. The undergrowth is symbolic because it is about growth of trees and shrubs like how he must take that path and see for himself what will lie in the end. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Motivation For Witchcraft Throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth century, witchcraft was widespread throughout various areas of the world. Today, witchcraft may be subtly displayed in children s books, where a witch often an elderly woman is shown travelling by broomstick or casting evil spells. Back then, people held allegations against others for using this black magic, and, in turn, some societies conducted persecutions against such individuals. These persecuted, and often executed individuals, were often said to be using their evil in worship of the Devil. Now that we see these ideas of black magic in children s books, it may appear that these witch panics were extreme. Before we make assumptions about the accusers of witches, we must consider further details in attempt to understand their underlying motivations to accept witchcraft beliefs. As Darren Oldridge argues, there may be multiple factors for this acceptance of witchcraft beliefs. One motivation that is evident is the absorption of power among the persecutors. Through time, since the start of witchcraft, witches became responsible for more and more issues, reflecting the span of influence persecutors held. It is important to consider the beginning of witchcraft prevalence. Since witchcraft allegations were often associated with the Devil, it must have been a Christian phenomenon. In Europe, where many witch trials took place, Christianity was extremely prevalent in the late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Therefore, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
