Marketing Objectives for Nike Sports Drink
Market Objectives Nike will have a number of different marketing objectives for their isotonic sports
drink, Nike Go. A main market objective will be to establish the isotonic drink as the most credible
sports drink in the market. This will not just happen though, this can only happen through a lot of
promotion and appeal. Creating strong consumer awareness is very important in gaining market share
as it is a completely new product from Nike. This can be done through promoting the product, Nike
Go, and allowing consumers to become aware that Nike has this new product. In order to establish
brand recognition, there needs to be a capture of market shares in the sports drink segment. This will
mean the product, Nike Go, will be well known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

has increased from 2006, at 41.2 per cent. Figure 1.1 shows this, as well as the percentage increase
throughout all of the years from 2005. This shows that it is a perfect time to release an isotonic sports
drink into the market, as the number of people participating in exercise is constantly increasing. Figure

most active in sport, as shown in figure 1.2. Figure 1.2 Description of Product Nike Go is a new
isotonic sports drink that is formulated in a way to aid people in rehydrating themselves during or after
exercise. Nike Go is rich in carbohydrates as carbohydrates are the most efficient source of energy. It
also has a number of sweeteners and preservatives. The main part of Nike Go is the electrolytes it
contains, which include chloride, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, which diminish during
exercise through sweat and bodily fluid. Nike Go replaces these electrolytes that are lost during sports
and exercise which promotes proper hydration, an important factor in delaying the onset of fatigue
during sports and exercise. Branding In order for Nike Go to be successful in the sports and energy

The Events Of World War II
The Tenth s triumphs in Italy were demonstrative of the value of specialized forces. Their success both
was very influential in the events of World War II and in proving the value of specialized forces. Once
the government saw how effective the focused training of this division was, they realized that a new
era had begun. The Tenth Mountain Division started the period of special forces.
The men in the division used their mountain climbing skills to formulate a brilliant plot to capture
Riva Ridge and Mount Belvedere. One source recounts,
Over a series of patrols and weeks, they secretly scouted routes up the mountain, Townsend added.
They went up the sheer rock face of both mountains and set up rope installations and secretly ... Show

When the men of the Tenth returned to America, they were just as revolutionary there as they were on
the battlefield. They shaped the future of not only war, but of recreation. These men started ski resorts,
founded outdoor education initiatives, and did a lot for the outdoor industries of America. The men of
the Tenth Mountain Division were essential in developing and revolutionizing the recreational ski
industry in America. Bill Pennington states, The 10th Mountain Division connections are everywhere
in American skiing, whether it s at Vail Mountain, founded by Sgt. Pete Seibert, of the 10th Mountain
Division, or in Vermont, home to the 10th Division veteran Cliff Taylor, the Pied Piper of the short
skis for beginners revolution more than 40 years ago (28). The men of the Tenth Mountain Division
came home to reinvent and revolutionize the ski industry in the United States.
Former Tenth soldiers also started many outdoor initiatives to educate people about the outdoors and
to protect and enjoy the beautiful American wilderness. In Brendan Leonard s account, he states,
Soldiers and officers from the 10th Mountain Division returned home, many to the mountains. In the
decades following, they pursued different paths, building ski resorts, outdoor education programs,
shoe companies, and even the Sierra Club (29). The Tenth Mountain division was quite impactful in

America s Treatment Of The Elderly
There is a perceived notion that Eastern societies view aging in a positive aspect, while Western
societies view aging in a negative light. Although there is much emphasis on respect for elders on the
Confucian societies, however, does East Asia s treatment of the Elderly really differ from North
America s treatment? In the Perceptions of Aging in Two cultures: Korean and American views on Old
Age, the authors are able to prove their thesis that through previous studies by Harwood et al that
countries such as South Korea, Philippines and Hong Kong do not necessarily hold positive views on
of old age. In this study, to better understand beliefs and perceptions of aging, Koreans were expected
to have a greater fear of old people, worry more about their physical appearance, and show greater
levels of anxiety over aging more than their American counter parts. Although American women were
expected to show more anxiety towards their physical appearance more than their male counterparts.
Such perceptions on older people have an effect on the mental, physical and emotional health of
elderly people. The many negative stereotypes about seniors affect how seniors see themselves and
how society views them. These stereotypes are usually regarding their physical and cognitive abilities
. Although these stereotypes may seem harmless, they hold serious ramifications to which affects the
elderly participation in activities which may improve their physical or cognitive abilities. These

Bradbury Custom House
Henry Rushbury s Custom House, London (Fig. 1) is a watercolour rendition of the structures and
waterfront on the north bank of the Thames in 1932. The date is evidenced in the bottom right of the
painting, along with the artist s signature. The foreground and middle depicts the Thames packed with
ships, some passing and others either docked or possibly re arranging goods (as shown by the derricks
in the middle right of the picture). The background depicts the Custom House and its adjoining
buildings. To the left of the Customs House lies the Billingsgate Fish Market, and the spires of St
Margaret Pattens and St Dunstan in the East are visible directly behind Billingsgate. St Dunstan in the

It is possible that this painting was created to be exhibited, as Rushbury was a member of both the
Royal Academy (since 1913) and the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours (since 1922). The
latter society seems the more likely, however, since the Royal Academy was not as accepting of
watercolour as a significant medium. Another possibility is that this painting and others like it were
made to be sold for interior decoration, as the scale and design suited such purposes. Finally, seeing as
Rushbury was a successful printmaker, it is possible that Custom House was created as a sketch for a
future etching. The painting, however, could be more than just a sketch, as the intricate and accurate
details of the architecture combined with the feeling of a gloomy day creates the sense of a more

Multicultural Empires
Multicultural Empires and the New World
The Seljuks were pressuring the Byzantine Empire the second half eleventh century. Much to their
demise the Byzantimes challenged the Turks in 1071, in modern day eastern Turkey (then Manzikert).
The Turks now had control over most of the Anatolian Peninsula. The Byzantine empire went to the
west for assistance out of desperation. Western European Christians wanted to stop the spread of Islam
and take back the Holy Land, located in the Eastern Mediterranean. They followed the words of Pope
Urban II plea to go to war against Muslim forces. He stated, it was God s will. The Pope was able to

Women s Struggle Towards Self Emancipation
Throughout Dangarembga s seminal prose novel and Bâ s epistolary novel, the authors explore the
omnipresent nature of gender inequality in a society and the inequitable standards of life that all
women have to either endure or reject. Both texts present their protagonists, Tambudzai and
Ramatoulaye one a developing adolescent, the other a widowed mother of twelve, reflecting on the
struggles of being women in their respective patriarchal societies of Zimbabwe and Senegal. Through
an investigation into the social, cultural and psychological contexts, the texts contribute an
understanding into the personal struggles of women through portrayals of the conflicting tensions
between patriarchy and the female autonomy, the significance of female solidarity and the woman s
struggle towards self emancipation and the resulting formation of identity.
Throughout both Nervous Conditions and So Long A Letter, the authors expose the need for women to
secure their own individuality by fighting the subjugation from patriarchal structures. In Nervous
Conditions, through her utilisation of juxtaposition between the characterisation Maiguru and Lucia,
Dangarembga highlights the need to women to take action. Although Maiguru holds a PhD and is
equally as capable as her husband, she is restricted by the expectations of her society to do so called
feminine tasks such as housework around the house and realises that when I was in England I

Explain Why Not Build The First Transcontinental Railroad
The Transcontinental Railroad: a 1,907 mile continuous railroad line constructed in the United States
between the years of 1863 and 1869, sitting west of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers to connect the
Pacific coast at the San Francisco Bay with the existing eastern U.S. rail network at Council Bluffs,
Iowa. By 1868, just about 4,000 people were building this railroad, and two thirds of them were
Chinese. The Chinese were paid handsomely when they were first hired, being paid $28 at the start of
hire. The more experience a worker had, the more he was paid. Despite their small stature, the
Americans believed that if the Chinese could build the Great Wall of China, why not build the first
transcontinental railroad? If it were not for the help from the Chinese immigrants, the transcontinental
railroad would have never been built. Because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ready and apt to learn all the different kinds of work required in railroad building, they soon became
as efficient as the white laborers. (A History of the Chinese in America, 44) Over the six year course
of building the transcontinental railroad, the Central Pacific Railroad Company hired just about 15,000
Chinese workers to build the railroad.
Not only did the Chinese bring over their labor, they also brought with them a whole new culture and
way of life. With the vast amount of railroad land that the Chinese built for the Americans, they helped
develop and create resources for much of the population. The Chinese created the empty new western
land into vast miles of new farmland. The knowledge the Chinese had about farming, cultivating,
planting, and harvesting became very useful for the people out west. Many farms heard of their skills
and learned the ways of the Chinese, and the west became no longer dependent on the east for
products and

Examples Of Everyone Is Equal By Harrison Bergeron
Have you ever thought what the world would be like if everybody was equal. Well in this essay you
will find out why it would be a good idea. Harrison Bergeron is a book about a man named Harrison
who lives in a total equal world where no one is better than anybody. Harrison has escaped prison and
is now on the run where he finds himself on live television and dances with a ballerina then gets shot
by the Handicapper general in front of his family. The short story Harrison Bergeron everybody was
equal because everybody has the same intelligence because of the earpiece they have to wear. The
Next reason that everybody is equal is that everybody that is pretty has to wear masks so nobody is
uglier than anybody else. My last reason that everybody is equal is that everybody weighs the same
due to weights they wear.
My first reason that everybody is equal is that nobody is smarter than anybody else. On page 14
George explains how he has a mental handicap, , had a little mental handicap in his ear. . The next
example I have is on page 15 and the narrator talks about how George was starting to think of
something smart then was stopped with a 21 gun salute. These pieces of evidence tell me that

looks, the H G men required that he wear at all times a red rubber ball for a nose, . My other piece of

else, She must have been extraordinarily beautiful, because the mask she wore was hideous. . This
piece of evidence tells me that everybody is equally beautiful and doesn t feel bad about their looks
which puts them at the same level with each other. Now for my next reason why I think that

Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media
Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today
as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as
a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The
issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to
have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under
both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help
broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it
has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that
female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking
disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on
WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories.
Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem
exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject
of gender representation. One of the key sociological ideas which we introduced to our class mates
during the seminar was the concept of gender ideology, masculinity and how this impacts

Stepper Motors
1. Introduction
This is the first in a series of articles on using Forth to interact with the real world. We will explore
how to control motors of various types (such as servomotors and stepper motors), switch power to
devices, and sense the environment. Each article will present a project that can be used to demonstrate
the ideas we are going to discuss.
In this first article, I want to lay the foundation for the future columns and discuss the use of the PC
parallel port to control stepper motors. We will adopt the fantasy that we are working on some
microprocessor based control application and will be using the PC parallel port as a proxy for the
digital I/O channels on our controller. To the extent possible, the code will be ... Show more content

The control is relative, meaning that there is no way to determine the shaft position directly. You can
only command the motor to rotate a certain amount clockwise or counter clockwise from its current
position. These commands consist of energizing the various motor coils in a particular sequence of
patterns. Each pattern causes the motor to move one step. Smooth motion results from presenting the
patterns in the proper order.
Features that stepper motors provide include:
* Excellent rotational accuracy * Large torque * Small size * Work well over a range of speeds * Can
be used for motion or position control
There are two types of stepper motors:
* Bipolar motors, with two coils. These have four wires on them (see Figure One a). They are tricky to
control because they require changing the direction of the current flow through the coils in the proper
sequence. We will discuss these motors further when we get to the topic of DC motor control. *
Unipolar motors, with two center tapped coils which can be treated as four coils (see Figure One b).
These have six or eight (or sometimes five) wires, and can be controlled from a microprocessor with
little more than four transistors (see Figure Two).

Greek Culture Influence On American Culture
Introduction Cultures are different around the world. There often is multiple cultures in a country.
Greece s culture is different in many ways from other cultures, for example family, tradition and
religion are three of many key factors in Greece(www.everyculture.com). Family, tradition and
religion can be popular values for other cultures too, but all cultures have different values. Families in
Greece are affected by poverty, religion and tradition. In Greece, family is very important, where the
father is the authority figure and the mother is the caring parent. Parents believe that children are their
main priority in the family and treat them with love and respect; parenting them to value religion,
tradition and family life with high expectations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Greece the mothers main goal is to care for the child and that is it they can work but most choose
not to. For mothers in Greece, it is more common for her to stay at home and not work while in our
culture it is common that the mother cares for the child but also works. The father in Greece is
authoritative and provides for the family. In Canada the father and mother are likely to share the
authority role and the role to provide for the family.
Expectations for Children
Expectations for children in Greece are to strive in school and stay connected to their religion and
their family life. Since family life is important in Greece the parents want the children to be close to
every family member. I think that the parents in Greece want their children to be happy but to value
the things they do which is religion, tradition and family. Our culture and Greece culture expect the
same for their children.

Music Is An Essential Part Of Our Social Environment
SOUNDS
The beauty of music regardless of genre and form is truly amazing. It allows us to express joy, anger,
sadness, love, pain, and bittersweet moments that we experience in our lifetime. Creating music can be
simple or complicated, and it all depends on how we create it. We can create music easily with our
bodies by tapping our shoes and snapping our fingers, or we can make it a more complex task by
using our voice and musical instruments. Music is definitely an essential part of our social
environment because it makes our lives more lively, interesting, and passionate. Moreover, music
inspires not only musicians, singers, or compositors, but it also inspires dancers. Dancers that glide
their feet, turn around, and jump at the rhythmic sounds while moving along with the music is what I
find most captivating. I think that music transcends time because people of all ages can find a way to
enjoy and express themselves through music. At last, I attended a ballet show at the Dance Theatre of
Dalton, and enjoyed the dance as much I enjoyed the music. My favorite pieces of the night were the
following: Touch The Sky,
A group of twelve girls were standing proud and ready at the stage. All wearing beautiful dresses and a
pair of glittery green wings. Their hair was fixed in a hair bun at the top of their heads, and also wore a
bit of makeup that illuminated their smiling faces. The music started, and it was a familiar song Touch
The Sky , by Julie Fowlis. This song is very

Beam Project
The goal of the beam project is to design and construct a beam that can hold a given amount of weight
without breaking. The beam is required to hold a concentrated load of 375 lbf on the X axis and 150
lbf on the Y axis. The maximum allowable weight of the beam is 250 grams. The maximum allowable
deflection for the beam is 0.230 in. and 0.200 in. for the X and Y axis respectively. The beam is
required to be 24 in. in length, and it will be tested on a simply supported configuration spanning 21
in. All calculations are to be done under the assumption that the density of basswood is 28 lbm/ft3 and
the modulus of elasticity for basswood is 1.46x106 lbm/in2. Given the constraints of a spending cost
of $10.50, a maximum beam weight of 250 grams, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When tested, the actual weight of the beam was 210 grams, the beams deflection on the x axis came
out to be .169 in. and the y axis deflection came out to be .137 in. In the calculations for the design of
the beam, it was calculated that the beam would weigh around 233 grams however it turned out to be
nearly 23 grams lighter. One reason why the beam may have been so much lighter is because the
actual density of the wood may have varied from the theoretical density. Since wood is a natural
product, it is not possible to determine the actual density unless the density was calculated
individually for each piece of wood which was not done in this experiment. The fact that the beam
was lighter than anticipated may have also accounted for a higher deflection than what was calculated.
The deflection of the beam was expected to be .1086 in. with a 20% safety factor included however
the actual deflection ended up being .169 in. which could have been caused by the fact that the wood
was not as dense as expected. It may have been possible to achieve a higher efficiency factor by using
a different proposed beam that weighed less than the one used however that would have risked a
significant increase in the deflection. It also would have been possible to achieve a lower deflection
however that would potentially lower the efficiency factor because it would have required larger,
heavier pieces of lumber. The fact that the materials used for the project were limited to coming from
the 1201 lumber yard and the fact that the modulus of elasticity and density of the wood were assumed
could all be reasons as to why there were differences between the theoretical and experimental values.
One way in which it may have been possible to achieve test results that were closer to the calculated
results would have been to calculate the true density of the wood. Another way to possibly enhance

Kendrick Lamar Research Paper
Kendrick Lamar
I think when correlating race and social justice with music my brain goes to Kendrick Lamar
immediately for a few reasons; he is openly mad about the treatment of African Americans in modern
day America, he does excessive community outreach in Compton, and his lyrics combine soulful
African music and new age raps about his struggles in an oppressive society. He is the new voice of

Lamar mocks Washington politicians with the names of gangs in his native Los Angeles, berating
them as DemoCrips and ReBloodlicans and declaring: They give us guns and drugs, call us thugs. But
underneath the album s bravado lies an introspection. Lamar repeatedly raps about overcoming
depression and finding self love. On Mortal Man, Lamar speaks of his survivor s guilt at escaping the

One of Kendrick Lamar s singles I emulates self love in a society where that is frowned upon,
especially in the black community. He celebrates himself and encourages others to do so through this

message is still just as powerful. It s lyrics read, I love myself (the world is a ghetto with guns and

The Importance Of A Business Continuity And Disaster...
There is need to ensure that there is continuity of information and adequate recovery of the same in
business continuity planning and disaster recovery processes. Individuals and firms therefore have to
improve their incident response capability in light of increasing attacks that are cyber security related.
These attacks have become diverse and more disruptive while causing greater damage. The number of
security related incidents cannot be completely reduced, but the incident response capability of
individuals and firms can be improved to enable them to detect incidents promptly, minimize loss,
mitigate any weaknesses exploited during such incidents and restore information and IT services back
to normal (NIST 2012). The objective of this essay is to outline the importance of having a business
continuity and disaster recovery plan for information systems, the technical and managerial challenges
that can be faced and solutions that can be used to solve the same.
It is important to have business continuity plan and disaster recovery for information systems since
these attacks often target business data and sometimes personal data. It also enables an individual or a
firm to have an automatic way of responding to incidents in a systematic way using laid down
methodology. This is key in reducing the theft or loss of information that would have occurred. In
addition, it reduces the time in which services are disrupted due to these incidents.
The other reason why business

Essay on September 11 and America’s Careless Diplomacy
For the past century, Americans have viewed the United States as standing as a symbol of strength,
freedom, and prosperity. Recently, however, this perceived symbol of a higher society has been
directly attacked by those who strongly disagree with the values projected by the United States. This is
the first time since the Cold War that the stance of America has even been questioned. The most
deliberating issue resulting from this atrocity has been how America should retaliate, or if the US
should even retaliate at all. Within the past few weeks this question has been answered by actions
from Washington. This action, however, has caused the emergence of even more questions. There are
many deeply rooted problems to address that go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Osama bin Laden and his supporters have claimed their hostility toward the West is partly a result of
the United States past support and involvement with Israel. U.S. involvement began during the
conflict between Egypt and Israel, Great Britain, and France when their diplomatic intervention
persuaded the countries to withdraw. The United States, however, continually supported Israel by
aiding them financially and militarily. Israel proceeded to engage in the Six Day War of 1967, which
caused the oil producing Arab States to issue a 15 percent reduction of oil production and an embargo
of shipments to the United States. The October War soon broke out in 1973, and the same countries
issued yet another reduction, this time a 25 percent reduction, causing the United Nations to call a
cease fire. The Arab nations and Israel both refused direct diplomatic relations with one another,
solidifying their conflictual positions. American administrations however became intent on breaking
the diplomatic barriers between the two groups. This brought the Arab nations and Israel into the Cold
War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Large advances in the acclimation of peace were
facilitated by America s Henry Kissinger in 1973. The Camp David Accords were drafted, facilitated
by U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and Israel and Egypt were promised large amounts of amounts of
military aid, and the two countries signed a peace

destruction. It was such a fine day and then suddenly a cloud crossed the sky, covered the sun, and did

It s just the same as the usual basic level English that we speak, read, and write on a daily basis.
Though the author s choice of words is vividly imaginative, with each description comes with another
imagery of what s going on in the story. Not only does the setting get the description, but the
characters, the creatures, and all the life form around the main protagonists are also creatively
described. The first words that stand out to me were promise , molten green gold , hate , and tries . The
reasons why these words relate toward each other and to the story is that each word holds a very heavy
meaning. Promise is an important word that every friendship relies on, along with the honesty and
trust to keep the promise . Based on a quote, The eyes are the windows of the soul gives the word
molten green gold a much deeper meaning when reading it with the text it came from. And there were
the eyes, not blind like statues eyes, but filled with molten green gold. (Dandelion Wine, Chapter 21)
In this text, the two boys, John and Douglas, are in the middle of playing Red Light, Green Light and
Statues . As mentioned, John s eyes seemed to be more focused elsewhere instead of the game, most
likely foreshadowing John leaving Douglas behind after he moved. Hate is a strong word, and when
used towards a friend, it s either interpreted as a friendly and jokingly manner or genuine

Conflict Between Men And Women
Conflict between men and women
Trifles is a short story that Susan Glaspell wrote about between men and women. It s specifically
targeting the way men attitudes were towards women. Trifles talks about a murder that is unsolved, a
country woman suspected of killing her husband in an isolated farm. Men in this short story worry
more about looking for big evidence and judging about Mrs. Wright s messy kitchen instead of
looking in her stuff for evidence. The men think that in the kitchen there is nothing important. Instead
they go to the barn and to the bedroom to find evidence. Meanwhile the women find a dead bird with a
broken neck that could mean why she killed Mr. Wright. At the end the women decide to hide the
evidence. That is because they think she had her own reasons to kill him because Mr. Wright could
have killed the bird and that it was important to Mrs. Wright. In Trifles there is a conflict between the
masculine attitudes towards women.
Men in Trifles are judgmental when they see Mrs. Wright s messy kitchen. They think that Mrs.
Wright should have cleaned up the kitchen before she left. The County Attorney thinks that a woman s
place is in the kitchen and that she should have everything cleaned up. When the County Attorney is
looking around the kitchen he opens the door of a closet and looks on the top shelf. Then he pulls his
hand away sticky and says, Here s a nice mess (1388), criticizing Mrs. Wright s kitchen. He pulls out a
roll of towels

Why Lacrosse Should Be A Professional Sport
Everyone loves the popular professional sports like baseball and football, so why should people not be
able to see what lacrosse players can do? Young kids in the world can be encouraged like other kids in
other sports to play. People in the world might have more athletes to look up to. Players who want to

good they have become. Clearly, lacrosse should become a professional sport.
Young kids will be encouraged like other kids in other sports to play lacrosse. The reason most kids
are wanting to play popular sports is because they can see people and be encouraged by them. People
who are young lacrosse players want to go to a game but they never know where to find one because
people don t know where they are played. Lacrosse should be a professional sport because it is
dominating with popularity and the population is increasing fast. Many quotes are stated to build up

Language In The Dark Knight
In the film The Dark Knight, the director Christopher Nolan uses many language features to
effectively highlight the contrast between good and evil, and that people have both good and evil
within them. One of the most significant scenes that highlights these ideas is the scene where Bane has
been knocked to the ground by Batman which crosscuts with the flashback scene of Miranda and Bane
s past.
The language features character actions, camera work and characterisation, helped me see the contrast
between good and evil, and how people have both good and evil within them, in the scene where
Batman has knocked Bane to the ground and is viciously punching him. As Batman is doing this,
Nolan has angled the camera at a low angle on Batman to make him look big, scary, ... Show more

Nolan wants us the audience to see that no one is perfectly good, not even Batman because he abuses
people even though it is for a good purpose. Nolan wants us to see that not even someone as
righteously good as Batman, is perfectly good, they still have their evil flaws. Understanding this
makes us humans feel scared and aware that even friendly and nice people, like ourselves, can be as
violent and scary as Batman was.
Nolan uses the language features crosscutting, camera work, costume and symbolism to highlight the
contrast between good and evil and that people have both good and evil within them in the flashback
scene, where we see that, as a child, Miranda was saved by Bane from people who were attacking the
people in the pit she was in, Bane included. After we, the audience, see this, the scene crosscuts to a
scene of the present. Nolan uses a close up camera shot on Bane s face so that we see the tear that rolls
down his cheek. By crosscutting the scene where Bane saves Miranda, with the close up of Bane s
face, our perspective on Bane s character changes and we see the contrast between good and evil in
him. Throughout the film, Nolan had us convinced that Bane was just pure evil,

Essay Malcom X and Non-violence
My life has always been one of changes (436). Malcolm X, throughout his life, was one of the most
influential, and quite possibly the most effective, civil rights activists of the twentieth century. His
radical ideas and views were widely sought after from the oppressed African American population in
the 1950s and 60s. The changes he underwent throughout his life affected his views of a racist
America and inspired him to lead a dedicated life preaching, what he thought to be, the only method
of promoting change in the hearts and minds of every citizen in the United States; nonviolence. The
issue of violence loomed large in Malcolm X s rhetoric. In his speech s and public appearances he
refused to repudiate violence, realizing that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anger and confusion were two very prominent themes throughout Malcolm s life with first, the death
of his father, and then the removal of his mother from their family, also under a white man s order.
Upon his arrival in Boston, Malcolm developed a strong criticism for the prejudice within the black
community that had arose in the early 1940s. He was surprised to find the judgmental nature both
classes had for each other in an attempt to increase their own status in artificial ways. Though Hill
Negroes arguably had a better quality of life than the many unemployed black residents of Boston,
their unwillingness to acknowledge the menial nature of their jobs while they look down on the poorer
blacks makes them just as snobbish as the racist whites.
Violence, ultimately, became a dominant force in Malcolm s life when he moved to the Harlem
ghettos. His anger and hostility was slowly directed from the black population towards white America,
but at the same time he blamed the black community draining the black ghetto of wealth. Malcolm
believed that wealthy white people not only exploited poor blacks on a daily basis, but also contribute
to the profound lack of opportunity in Harlem. It is for this reason he begins to blame the white
community for driving them into the spiral of crime, drugs, deceit, and poverty, giving them no other
option than the hustler s life; it wasn t much longer that Malcolm, himself, started to run numbers

Electoral College Flaws
Do you feel the Electoral system best represents everyone in the US? The United States have using the
Electoral College for over 220 years! There have definitely been changes since the first president. The
Electoral have many flaws and i m here to inform you about the flaws about the way we elect our
president. I am going to tell you my two biggest flaws that need to be changed. The Electoral College
does not represent the people in the best possible way, considering the state s vote represents the
majority of the state, not the individual people, which is ideal. The second reason why the Electoral
College does not best represent the people is because the smaller populated states don t have an even
say compared to the larger states.
The Electoral College represent the people because the states vote represents the majority of the state,
but not all of the people. In CT, 54% voted for Hillary and 41% voted for Trump. CT final vote was
Hillary so those 668,000/41% of the people don t get represented at all. ( 2016 Election ). For those
people, their vote does not mean anything to the outcome of the president. That means that this year,
41% of CT s votes did not go toward voting for the new president. Hillary Clinton has 2.7 million

state s votes count, but the rest are not important or used. This is very important because the smaller

people s vote count toward the state s votes same do not. I think it s a big problem that not everyone is
getting represented and that needs to change. Everyone should have an equal say in who they want to
be president and the Electoral College System needs to change for the better of the

The World Wide Web As A Practitioner s Perspective
According to Mark Pallen, The world wide web is the crowning glory of the internet, providing a
uniform, user friendly interface to the net. The world wide web is the system that connects the internet
together, and therefore connects the entire world. Without the interface of the world wide web, the
internet would simply be a collections of ones and zeros, not the place of communication, learning,
and collaboration it is. The world wide web was the most influential improvement of the 1990s
because it globalized government, business, and the public, therefore connecting all aspects of life for
Americans and people around the world even in modern day.
Modern governments require communication, and the world wide web offers this to countries ... Show

With the possibility for public communication through the world wide web, governments also have to
communicate. This newfound communication between governments, in reality, benefits the people
most. In Geoffrey Garrett s report on Globalization and Government Spending around the World, he
argues that the world wide web helps to maintain honesty in the government and its policies, The
common metaphor of a globalization induced race to the bottom suggests that governments are under
heavy efficiency pressures to reduce their economic policy activism to promote competitiveness and
to keep mobile capital within national borders. Now that citizens have access to an abundance of
information, the world wide web acts as a police to encourage the government to treat its citizens
fairly. For example, in many dictatorships today, certain parts of the internet, if not all, are restricted.
These people do not get to use the internet and the communication that comes with it realize their own
conditions are not just. The world wide web calls these governments to remember that the government
is representing its own citizens, and therefore needs to suit its policies to its people. John H. Dunning
calls forth the idea that globalization, especially thanks to the world wide web, calls governments to
change policies to adapt to this new world in his paper, Governments, Globalization, and International
Business, In doing so they

Chapter one of Persuasion makes use of a highly economic narrative style, which celebrates Austen s
success as a novelist. Austen s narrative style is so successful in chapter one of Persuasion as many of
the characters are introduced to the reader along with the majority of the main themes which concern

traditional conventions of third person with past tense. This first hint of Austen s narration style is

The idea that Sir Walter cannot produce a son shows, to an extent, that Sir Walter s family is falling in
social rank, as his daughters can be seen as a metaphor to suggest
Sir Walter s own impotence in society with the further decline of the

Another important theme in Persuasion is introduced to us in the opening chapter in the guise of
vanity and appearances. He could read his own history with an interest which never failed this was the
page at which the favourite volume always opened: Elliot of Kellynch

vanity is Walter Elliot s driving force in life. It also goes to show Sir Walter s carelessness of major
affairs, as the only script he cares to read is his own Baronetage .
When describing Walter Elliot, Austen uses flattering language, such as fine , beauty and good looks .
There is a tone of acute amusement and gentle contempt in Austen s writing with Sir Walter

almost suggests to us that Austen does not perceive beauty to be of the utmost importance in life. By

used to the Chinese culture and thinks that a girl does not have the power to do anything over a man.
However, her thought as a Chinese immigrant was proven wrong when she received her citizenship
from a woman. In comparison, when Suzuki visited Japan with his wife Tara, who is English, he had
trouble booking a room at a hotel. We asked a man at the travel bureau to book a Ryokan a traditional

think that entering a room with shoes will be compared to a person entering homes and spitting on the

Compare And Contrast Christina s World By Andrew Wyeth
In Christina s World, a painting made in 1948 by Andrew Wyeth, I see a woman sitting on a grassy
field. The woman in the foreground is looking out towards the background to a brown house. In front
of the house, there is a shed and what appears to be a wire fence. There are two narrow tire tracks
leading to the house. Further off in the distance, there is another house.
The majority of the painting is the previously mentioned grassy field. The sky is free of clouds.
The woman sitting on the grass is wearing a dress and her hair is tied in a bun, a few strands blowing
off in what can be assumed is a light breeze.

The strokes that make up the grass all have a slight sway that point towards the house, as well as
strands of the woman s hair. The slight breeze can mean something calling the artist back to where
they wish to be, a calmer place with a simpler life.
I believe this because this is the mood that looking at Christina s World puts me in. The simpler life
that the artist might be wishing for might not be a literal countryside, but simply the idea of something
simple. The idea of wanting a less complicated or more relaxed way of life can be what the farm and
grassy fields are portraying. To me, someone who has always been in the busy urban areas, only
having visited suburban and country areas, this painting makes me feel something in the sense of
longing. I ve never seen myself as a person fitting in with the hustle and bustle of urban life. After
staying in a more suburban to country ish style of living for a month, I feel that s where I really want
to be. The motion of the woman crawling to the little house on the prairie in the middle of nowhere

Film Production Of Film Films
The history of film began in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film
production companies started to be established. Because of the limits of technology, films of the 1890s
were under a minute long and until 1927 motion pictures were produced without sound. The first
decade of motion picture saw film moving from a novelty to an established large scale entertainment
industry. The films became several minutes long consisting of several shots. The first rotating camera
for taking panning shots was built in 1897. The first film studios were built in 1897. Special effects
were introduced and film continuity, involving action moving from one sequence into another, began
to be used. In the 1900s, continuity of action across successive shots was achieved and the first close
up shot was introduced . Most films of this period were what came to be called chase films . The first
use of animation in movies was in 1899. The first feature length multi reel film was a 1906 Australian
production. The first successful permanent theatre showing only films was The Nickelodeon in
Pittsburgh in 1905. By 1910, actors began to receive screen credit for their roles, and the way to the
creation of film stars was opened. Regular newsreels were exhibited from 1910 and soon became a
popular way for finding out the news. Overall, from about 1910, American films had the largest share
of the market in Australia and in all European countries except France.

economic status, and unstable surrounding all contribute to their life experiences. I was taken aback
when I discovered how many of the campers had an incarcerated mother, father, or both. Along with
displaying aggressive behavior, most of the campers had difficulty bonding with their peers,
caregivers, and camp counselors. In the fields of psychology and social work, these are textbook signs

that only involves adults; consequently, she harms, threatens and disrespects her friends. Juliet is the
character in, The Wars, that has this kind of disorder . She eavesdrops and uses her observation skills
to hear all the secrets that go on around their house. She feels no remorse with her continuous use of
eavesdropping towards the patients of the D Orsay house. At that young of an age, she should be
looked after more by her parents to ensure she will not harm anyone else in the future and cause those
around her to feel threatened resulting in others not supporting her. Juliet s natural thoughts is to
threaten her friends when she feels it is necessary. Major Terry, Barbara s ex boyfriend, is a soldier
who was injured and arranged to recover in the D Orsay house. He was a sexual partner for Barbara
until Robert came to the house. Barbara becomes more interested in Robert and emotionlessly ignores
Major Terry. Juliet witnesses the actions Barbara has committed and decides

In the Perceptions of Aging in Two cultures: Korean and American views on Old Age, the authors are able to prove their thesis that through previous studies by Harwood et al that countries such as South Korea, Philippines and Hong Kong do not necessarily hold positive views on of old age. Another possibility is that this painting and others like it were made to be sold for interior decoration, as the scale and design suited such purposes. Finally, seeing as Rushbury was a successful printmaker, it is possible that Custom House was created as a sketch for a future etching. Women s Struggle Towards Self Emancipation Throughout Dangarembga s seminal prose novel and Bâ s epistolary novel, the authors explore the omnipresent nature of gender inequality in a society and the inequitable standards of life that all women have to either endure or reject. Both texts present their protagonists, Tambudzai and Ramatoulaye one a developing adolescent, the other a widowed mother of twelve, reflecting on the struggles of being women in their respective patriarchal societies of Zimbabwe and Senegal. Through an investigation into the social, cultural and psychological contexts, the texts contribute an understanding into the personal struggles of women through portrayals of the conflicting tensions between patriarchy and the female autonomy, the significance of female solidarity and the woman s struggle towards self emancipation and the resulting formation of identity. Throughout both Nervous Conditions and So Long A Letter, the authors expose the need for women to secure their own individuality by fighting the subjugation from patriarchal structures. In Nervous Conditions, through her utilisation of juxtaposition between the characterisation Maiguru and Lucia, Dangarembga highlights the need to women to take action. • 14. Gender And Misrepresentation In Sports And Media Gender representation and in particular misrepresentation is a key issue within sport and media today as female coverage of sport is overlooked in all forms of mainstream media. This issue is what we, as a group of 3, had to tackle and present to our academic peers in a student led seminar session. The issue derives from the main theme of sport and media and their relationship but could also be said to have direct links to other themes such as sport and (in) equality. Gender representation comes under both media and equality in terms of broader topics because it is the concern of the media to help broadcast more female sport and raise awareness of the inequality which exists to the wide audience it has to target, this doesn t happen enough currently. Research by Cooky et al. (2013) suggests that female sports coverage on ESPN sport takes up around 3% of coverage time which is a shocking disparity compared to men s coverage on the same channel. It also found that 0 news stories on WNBA were published out of season across multiple news channels while the NBA had 72 stories. Studying this topic is particularly important to understand historically and culturally why this problem exists as well as to look at the negative ideologies which exist within sports media around the subject of gender representation. Smooth motion results from presenting the patterns in the proper order. • 18. Music Is An Essential Part Of Our Social Environment SOUNDS The beauty of music regardless of genre and form is truly amazing. It allows us to express joy, anger, sadness, love, pain, and bittersweet moments that we experience in our lifetime. Creating music can be simple or complicated, and it all depends on how we create it. We can create music easily with our bodies by tapping our shoes and snapping our fingers, or we can make it a more complex task by using our voice and musical instruments. Music is definitely an essential part of our social environment because it makes our lives more lively, interesting, and passionate. Moreover, music inspires not only musicians, singers, or compositors, but it also inspires dancers. Dancers that glide their feet, turn around, and jump at the rhythmic sounds while moving along with the music is what I find most captivating. I think that music transcends time because people of all ages can find a way to enjoy and express themselves through music. At last, I attended a ballet show at the Dance Theatre of Dalton, and enjoyed the dance as much I enjoyed the music. My favorite pieces of the night were the following: Touch The Sky, A group of twelve girls were standing proud and ready at the stage. All wearing beautiful dresses and a pair of glittery green wings. Their hair was fixed in a hair bun at the top of their heads, and also wore a bit of makeup that illuminated their smiling faces. The maximum allowable deflection for the beam is 0.230 in. and 0.200 in. for the X and Y axis respectively. The beam is required to be 24 in. in length, and it will be tested on a simply supported configuration spanning 21 in. All calculations are to be done under the assumption that the density of basswood is 28 lbm/ft3 and the modulus of elasticity for basswood is 1.46x106 lbm/in2. When tested, the actual weight of the beam was 210 grams, the beams deflection on the x axis came out to be .169 in. and the y axis deflection came out to be .137 in. In the calculations for the design of the beam, it was calculated that the beam would weigh around 233 grams however it turned out to be nearly 23 grams lighter. One reason why the beam may have been so much lighter is because the actual density of the wood may have varied from the theoretical density. Since wood is a natural product, it is not possible to determine the actual density unless the density was calculated individually for each piece of wood which was not done in this experiment. The fact that the beam was lighter than anticipated may have also accounted for a higher deflection than what was calculated. The deflection of the beam was expected to be .1086 in. with a 20% safety factor included however the actual deflection ended up being .169 in. which could have been caused by the fact that the wood was not as dense as expected. It may have been possible to achieve a higher efficiency factor by using a different proposed beam that weighed less than the one used however that would have risked a significant increase in the deflection. It also would have been possible to achieve a lower deflection however that would potentially lower the efficiency factor because it would have required larger, heavier pieces of lumber. The fact that the materials used for the project were limited to coming from the 1201 lumber yard and the fact that the modulus of elasticity and density of the wood were assumed could all be reasons as to why there were differences between the theoretical and experimental values. One way in which it may have been possible to achieve test results that were closer to the calculated results would have been to calculate the true density of the wood. There is need to ensure that there is continuity of information and adequate recovery of the same in business continuity planning and disaster recovery processes. Individuals and firms therefore have to improve their incident response capability in light of increasing attacks that are cyber security related. These attacks have become diverse and more disruptive while causing greater damage. The number of security related incidents cannot be completely reduced, but the incident response capability of individuals and firms can be improved to enable them to detect incidents promptly, minimize loss, mitigate any weaknesses exploited during such incidents and restore information and IT services back to normal (NIST 2012). The objective of this essay is to outline the importance of having a business continuity and disaster recovery plan for information systems, the technical and managerial challenges that can be faced and solutions that can be used to solve the same. It s specifically targeting the way men attitudes were towards women. Trifles talks about a murder that is unsolved, a country woman suspected of killing her husband in an isolated farm. Men in this short story worry more about looking for big evidence and judging about Mrs. Wright s messy kitchen instead of looking in her stuff for evidence. The men think that in the kitchen there is nothing important. Instead they go to the barn and to the bedroom to find evidence. Meanwhile the women find a dead bird with a broken neck that could mean why she killed Mr. Wright. At the end the women decide to hide the evidence. That is because they think she had her own reasons to kill him because Mr. Wright could have killed the bird and that it was important to Mrs. Wright. • 27. Essay Malcom X and Non-violence My life has always been one of changes (436). Malcolm X, throughout his life, was one of the most influential, and quite possibly the most effective, civil rights activists of the twentieth century. His radical ideas and views were widely sought after from the oppressed African American population in the 1950s and 60s. The changes he underwent throughout his life affected his views of a racist America and inspired him to lead a dedicated life preaching, what he thought to be, the only method of promoting change in the hearts and minds of every citizen in the United States; nonviolence. The issue of violence loomed large in Malcolm X s rhetoric. In his speech s and public appearances he refused to repudiate violence, realizing that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anger and confusion were two very prominent themes throughout Malcolm s life with first, the death of his father, and then the removal of his mother from their family, also under a white man s order. Upon his arrival in Boston, Malcolm developed a strong criticism for the prejudice within the black community that had arose in the early 1940s. He was surprised to find the judgmental nature both classes had for each other in an attempt to increase their own status in artificial ways. Though Hill Negroes arguably had a better quality of life than the many unemployed black residents of Boston, their unwillingness to acknowledge the menial nature of their jobs while they look down on the poorer blacks makes them just as snobbish as the racist whites. Violence, ultimately, became a dominant force in Malcolm s life when he moved to the Harlem ghettos. His anger and hostility was slowly directed from the black population towards white America, but at the same time he blamed the black community draining the black ghetto of wealth. Malcolm believed that wealthy white people not only exploited poor blacks on a daily basis, but also contribute to the profound lack of opportunity in Harlem. It is for this reason he begins to blame the white community for driving them into the spiral of crime, drugs, deceit, and poverty, giving them no other option than the hustler s life; it wasn t much longer that Malcolm, himself, started to run numbers across the city ... There have definitely been changes since the first president. The Electoral have many flaws and i m here to inform you about the flaws about the way we elect our president. I am going to tell you my two biggest flaws that need to be changed. The Electoral College does not represent the people in the best possible way, considering the state s vote represents the majority of the state, not the individual people, which is ideal. The second reason why the Electoral College does not best represent the people is because the smaller populated states don t have an even say compared to the larger states. The Electoral College represent the people because the states vote represents the majority of the state, but not all of the people. In CT, 54% voted for Hillary and 41% voted for Trump. CT final vote was Hillary so those 668,000/41% of the people don t get represented at all. ( 2016 Election ). For those people, their vote does not mean anything to the outcome of the president. That means that this year, 41% of CT s votes did not go toward voting for the new president. Hillary Clinton has 2.7 million more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 29. The World Wide Web As A Practitioner s Perspective According to Mark Pallen, The world wide web is the crowning glory of the internet, providing a uniform, user friendly interface to the net. The world wide web is the system that connects the internet together, and therefore connects the entire world. Without the interface of the world wide web, the internet would simply be a collections of ones and zeros, not the place of communication, learning, and collaboration it is. The world wide web was the most influential improvement of the 1990s because it globalized government, business, and the public, therefore connecting all aspects of life for Americans and people around the world even in modern day. With the possibility for public communication through the world wide web, governments also have to communicate. This newfound communication between governments, in reality, benefits the people most. In Geoffrey Garrett s report on Globalization and Government Spending around the World, he argues that the world wide web helps to maintain honesty in the government and its policies, The common metaphor of a globalization induced race to the bottom suggests that governments are under heavy efficiency pressures to reduce their economic policy activism to promote competitiveness and to keep mobile capital within national borders. Now that citizens have access to an abundance of information, the world wide web acts as a police to encourage the government to treat its citizens fairly. For example, in many dictatorships today, certain parts of the internet, if not all, are restricted. These people do not get to use the internet and the communication that comes with it realize their own conditions are not just. The world wide web calls these governments to remember that the government is representing its own citizens, and therefore needs to suit its policies to its people. John H. Dunning calls forth the idea that globalization, especially thanks to the world wide web, calls governments to change policies to adapt to this new world in his paper, Governments, Globalization, and International Business, In doing so they ... Austen clearly underlines that she is writing with a novelist s voice, using traditional conventions of third person with past tense. It also goes to show Sir Walter s carelessness of major affairs, as the only script he cares to read is his own Baronetage . When describing Walter Elliot, Austen uses flattering language, such as fine , beauty and good looks . There is a tone of acute amusement and gentle contempt in Austen s writing with Sir Walter Elliot, who united these gifts, was the constant object of his warmest respect and devotion . This quote shows that his mother is used to the Chinese culture and thinks that a girl does not have the power to do anything over a man. However, her thought as a Chinese immigrant was proven wrong when she received her citizenship from a woman. In comparison, when Suzuki visited Japan with his wife Tara, who is English, he had trouble booking a room at a hotel. The simpler life that the artist might be wishing for might not be a literal countryside, but simply the idea of something simple. The idea of wanting a less complicated or more relaxed way of life can be what the farm and grassy fields are portraying. To me, someone who has always been in the busy urban areas, only having visited suburban and country areas, this painting makes me feel something in the sense of longing. • 36. Film Production Of Film Films The history of film began in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be established. Because of the limits of technology, films of the 1890s were under a minute long and until 1927 motion pictures were produced without sound. The first decade of motion picture saw film moving from a novelty to an established large scale entertainment industry. The films became several minutes long consisting of several shots. The first rotating camera for taking panning shots was built in 1897. The first film studios were built in 1897. Special effects were introduced and film continuity, involving action moving from one sequence into another, began to be used. In the 1900s, continuity of action across successive shots was achieved and the first close up shot was introduced . Most films of this period were what came to be called chase films . The first use of animation in movies was in 1899. The first feature length multi reel film was a 1906 Australian production. This is an issue of both personal and societal important to me as a youth mentor, future social worker, and concerned citizen. Since 2014, I have worked worked as a summer camp counselor of children aged five to 13 in my hometown of New Kensington. The summer camp is organized by a non profit to facilitate conflict resolution skills in children who are aggressive or anti social in school and other settings. These children have multiple odds stacked against them: race (most are African American), economic status, and unstable surrounding all contribute to their life experiences. I was taken aback when I discovered how many of the campers had an incarcerated mother, father, or both. Along with displaying aggressive behavior, most of the campers had difficulty bonding with their peers, caregivers, and camp counselors. In the fields of psychology and social work, these are textbook signs of insecure attachment. Much of my time as a camp counselor was spent working to foster acceptance and affection in children who often don t receive any at home. Beyond anecdotal evidence, the role of an absent mother in insecure attachments has been explored extensively by researchers. The research I reviewed can be categorized as initial research on insecure attachments and their implications, and more specific to the population I researched, insecure attachments in the children of incarcerated ...
