2. Cla Research Paper
Mechanism of the Health promoting Effects of the Food Ingredient
Evidence suggests that the biological effectiveness of CLA are due to the separate actions of cis 9,
trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 isomers. It is likely that numerous health effects are enhanced by
synergistic actions of these isomers. Findings such as, inhibition of chemically induced
carcinogenesis, enhanced immune system, reduction of atherosclerosis, enhanced growth, fat
reduction are attributed to a mixture of these CLA isomers (Pariza, Park, Cook, 2001).
Weight reduction
Researchers have theorized about the many mechanisms CLA have an effect on. Some proposed
mechanisms such as reduction of proliferation and differentiation of preadipocytes, decreased

Insulin resistance can also be caused by increased triglycerides and free fatty acids intake. This is due
to the effect Triglycerides and free fatty acids have on insulin stimulated signal pathways,
translocation protein 4 and glucose uptake (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). It is found that CLA has a
regulatory effect on glucose and lipid metabolism regulators. CLA affects the PPAR y ligand, a major
receptor that influences the expression and transcription of genes that are related to the metabolic
effects of glucose and lipids. Such protein regulators as aP2, insulin dependent glucose transporter 4,
FATp, ACS and adiponectin are all influenced by increased CLA. (Xiao Rong Zhoua, Chang Hao
Suna, Jia Ren Liua, b, Dan Zhaoa, 2008). It was also theorized that CLA may act on other glucose
regulators such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, glucose 6 phosphate, glucokinase, sterol
regulation element finding protein, acyl coenzyme A oxidase, fatty acid synthase and uncoupling
protein. Testing done on rats with a mixture of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 CLA had found that
the only effected regulatory agents were regulators involved in gluconeogenesis such as Phosphoenol
carboxykinase and transcriptional factors, sterol regulating element binding protein 1c and PPAR y
(Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). The main regulatory effect on insulin resistance was the effect on
ligand PPAR y, a key regulator in lipid homeostasis. Mixtures of CLA isomers consisting of cis 9,
trans 11 and trans 10,cis 12 effect gene expression of PPARy mRNA in rats. It was found to have
affected the levels of aP2, FATP, ACS and adipoenectin mRNA expression in adipose tissue. CLA
increased These regulatory proteins resulting in an uptake of free fatty acids into the adipose tissue
and decreasing uptake into the muscle tissue. This has been found to improve muscle insulin

3. The Ethical Dilemma Of Performance Enhancing Drugs
Benchmark Assignment: Ethical Dilemmas
These days it seems as society is constantly being faced with Ethical Dilemmas. Whether it is normal
everyday citizens, actors, business executives, and even athletes. The way that every person deal with
ethical dilemmas is by relying on their worldview. The world of professional sports is a very tough
and competitive place. It is full of top level athletes that are masters in their respective sports and the
struggle that they all face is to be better than everyone else. With all these athletes working hard and
looking for new ways to better themselves, some take the easy way over the right way. In this paper,
the ethical dilemma of performance enhancing drugs being used in sports will be addressed ... Show

Core Beliefs
Some athletes view doping, the use of performance enhancing drugs, as the only way to keep up with
athletic competition (Performance Enhancing Drugs, 2017). With it being such a big issue many
people are curious on how the Christian worldview deals with the topic. The Christian worldview does
not specifically address the ethical dilemma that surrounds performance enhancing drugs. While I
admit that it does not directly talk about PEDs, in Jesus time they had none, there are certain core
beliefs that can be applied to it. Firstly, we need to look at our bodies. People aligned with the
Christian worldview know that because of the fall our bodies were marred from God s beginning
perfect creation of us (The Ethics of Enhancement, 2017). The Bible states how God views our body
saying Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you whom you
have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in
your body and in your spirit, which are God s (NKJV, 1 Corinthians. 6:19 20). If our body is the
temple of the Holy Spirit, then it would not be right to defile our bodies by injecting it with drugs for
performance. It is also trying to change and determine what and how our bodies are rather than how
God created us. There is also the issue of performance enhancing drugs being fair and considered
cheating. King Solomon writes that Better is

ABSTRACT
The present investigation was undertaken to evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of mango,
grapefruit and strawberry juice and identification of phenolic acids and flavonoids compounds using
HPLC. Also the present study aimed to investigate the effects of mango, grapefruit and strawberry
juice at a dose of 1ml/day (was taken orally) to streptozotocin induced diabetic rats for four weeks on
serum triglycerides (TAG), serum glucose, serum insulin, total lipid (TL), total cholesterol (TC), low
density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) in diabetic rats compared with control
negative rats and diabetic rats fed on different fruit juice.
The results showed that the mango was the highest amounted in protein, crude fiber, ash content and
total carbohydrates (0.82, 0.72, 0.51 and 9.61 g/100g fresh weight) followed by strawberry (0.50,

7. Garter Hunt Research Paper
The garter snake killed those hunters is true, however the garter snake did not directly kill the hunters,
the newts had adapted to a higher toxicity level that would help prevent them from being eaten from
the garter snake. The garter snake forced the newts to increase its toxicity level, to allow itself to
survive, however with this high toxic level, it is very lethal to humans. So this is why the garter snake
killed those hunters , because it forced the newts to increase its toxicity level which was lethal to those
hunters. The life dinner principle is what the gartner snake and the newts are, the predator and the
prey. Similar to the show tom and jerry, tom the cat is the predator attempting to eat jerry. This forces
jerry the rat to adapt in order to survive. Similar to the newt it attempts to survive by increasing its

This sparked the famous research program. The gartner snakes are able to avoid the toxic effects of the
newts TTX, because they have a mutation that allows it to manipulate its sodium channels. Which is
the perfect defense for something like the newts TTX, because the TTX targets the sodium channels,
so the gartner snake is able to resist the tetrodotoxin from affecting it. It is ideal for scientist to
collaborate with each other to share each others finding, perhaps an anomaly is found within one of
the works, and they can share what information was gained from their work with others and see if that

8. Post-impressionism and Artists
Impressionism was a movement that came about in the late 19th century, most specifically its roots
can be traced back the 1874 when a group called the Anonymous Society of Painters, Sculptors,
Printmakers, etc. organized an exhibition in Paris. (Samu, 2004). The group led several exhibitions
through the 1880 s which brought them into the spot light despite criticism from the conventional art
community in France. The movement received its name from one of the movements most now most
recognized artists Claude Monet and his piece Impression, Sunrise. It is said that a critic accused the
painting of being a sketch or impression . (Samu, 2004) Paintings of this period tended to be outdoor
scenes and panoramas. My Grandfather, Lawrence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These artists felt that impressionism was missing many key elements including emotional, structural,
symbolic and spiritual representation. (Misialowski, 2006) Artists of this time frame worked, in most
cases, independently and today are most often referred to as Post Impressionists. The style was
defined by vibrant colors, thick paint application, real life subject matter, geometric shapes, and
distortion of objects figures for expressive emotional effect. Some of the key artists of this time
included: Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat. Aristide Maillol and
Edouard Vuillard.
One of my favorite pieces of this time comes of course from van Gogh. The piece is titled
Straßenarbeiter which means Road Workers. The imagery of this piece is rough and course with
distorted views and sharp lines. The shapes of the trees almost draw you away from the what the piece
is actually titled after, the road workers who are shown off in the distance and then again on the left
edge of the painting. The colors give the image a dark look like it is depicting a late fall day with the
workers frantically trying to complete the task before the onset of winter.
Again, like the impressionism movement, there was not really a prime reason for this movement other
than the artists wants to more freely express themselves through their work. The social climate of the
times were changing allowing for

10. Analysis Of Blood Meridian Or The Evening Redness Of The West
Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West, is a novel written by an author by the name of
Cormac McCarthy. Cormac McCarthy wrote this to show a teenage runaway perspective of living on
your own during the late 1800 s. Throughout this novel, McCarthy shows the reader the feeling of
being in hell and describing a kid s journey through hell. This eye opening novel takes place in Texas,
Mexico and the American Southwest, Circa. This historical fiction novel is surprisingly accurate when
describing the events that occurred during the situations in the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico around
the 1850 s. McCarthy s Blood Meridian contains a lot of violent and bloody events that build up to the
subjugation of the Apaches, as well as other Native tribes, and the southwestern expansion of the
United States of America. All these events are proven to be an accurate description of the way
Indigenous people were treated and how they lived throughout this time. The story Blood Meridian or
the Evening Redness of the West, explains a couple of the major frontier themes of a man s kinship for
violence, religion, and power in the Western American History. These can be found as the theme
depending on the way the reader interprets it. The story represents the traditions of the American
Southwest, as the kid meets different people with different perspectives on life. This novel describes a
journey of a young boy, who McCarthy doesn t give a name to, but refers to the character as the

January 27th, 2015, less than a day since they had announced any rumors regarding Delonge leaving

Delonge stressed,

playing the same songs every night and moving your body the same way with your guitar, it felt like
you were vogue ing, like you were faking it. (Varga 15).

that his attitude leading up to the split had proven he was not interested in the band anymore. He
mentions, Travis and I have bent over backwards for years to accommodate all the stuff that Tom
wanted to try... ( Mark Hoppus: Tom Delonge s Departure is a Relief , 2015). However, Hoppus and
Barker had announced shortly after that they had already found a replacement for Delonge for their
upcoming show in a California festival. Matt Skiba was made the new replacement for Delonge, and

4. Robust Content should be robust and flexible enough to remain accessible to the user as
technologies advance (Introduction to Understanding WCAG 2.0, n. d.).
There are five requirements which must be met in order to determine whether a website conforms to
the guidelines of the WCAG. These are:
1. Conformance Level The conformance level of a website to the WCAG guidelines is ranked using
three levels of conformance. These are A, AA and AAA, with A being the lowest level of conformance
and AAA being the highest level of conformance. To conform to the WCAG guidelines, it is required
that a website satisfies at least all of the Level A Success Criteria or that there is an alternate version of
the site which does so, or conformance is not possible (Understanding Conformance, n.d.).
2. Full pages This requirement states that the entire web page must conform to the WCAG guidelines,
rather than just part of the page. There are exceptions to this requirement where certain supplemental
pieces of information do not have to conform as long as they are available on another page which does
conform (Understanding Conformance, n.d.).
3. Complete processes This requirement dictates that when a web page is part of a series of web pages

According to Carmen Shalev (1989) and John Robertson (1994), both of them libertarians and
progressives, women are free to do whatever they want to do and feel is proper to do with their wombs
and reproductive capacity. Shalev goes further and, at least once in her famous book Birth Power , she
states that a woman holds the right to make a profit from her womb just as any other person holds the
same right to obtain benefits from the private property she has accumulated throughout her life. I
object to this argument due to its lack of clarity. It seems that, in Shalev s view, women are a certain
type of owners of reproductive property that is just waiting to be exploited for profit purposes. Shalev
points this out in the name of women s power to decide the best way to make money.

Society undoubtedly has a convincing and prevailing public literacy, as well as, numerous accepted
symbols and ideas that legitimize the meaning of being an American. As the author of Puzzlements of
a High School Watcher , Theodore R. Sizer explains how American media is the leading edge of
shared experience, which is pronounced in the generally shared language and symbols and how it is
our reality. Sizer focuses on the fact that as a nation, America has a persuasive and powerful public
literacy. He claims that it is the outcome of shows aired on television and very uniform education
processes. In his article, Sizer first sets the stage by describing the similarities among American high
schools. He articulates that the similarities in the system are so solid that a student moving schools,
even across the nation, would be in the same academic situation as they left and would only lose few
steps. Sizer continues by claiming that at least four properties can characterize American public
literacy: it is centrally driven, usually for merchandising purposes; it is commercial; it simplifies,
synthesizes, unifies, and focuses; and lastly, literacy is sophisticated. By starting his article with his
observations of American public literacy, Sizer introduces and backs the issue. Sizer does not offer
suggestions for change. Instead, he begins to ask carefully chosen questions which provoke his
audience to ponder their own answers. Aside from his own credibility of being

New Trenchless technologies in Construction Nowadays there is an immense growth in trenchless
construction technologies. Trenchless construction technologies are the underground methods used to
build underground infrastructures without affecting the ground surface. The advantages of trenchless
technologies are public safety and the cost impact for deeper excavation. Trenchless technologies
minimize traffic impacts and road repairs. New trenchless technologies have been developed to
precede the construction method which is best selected. When the method of trenchless construction is
known, it gets easier to find out the technology to be used for construction. The selection of
construction methods is important for placing or installing a construction unit. Researchers say that

For this piece of coursework I am going to compare and contrast two Alfred Hitchcock Films in order
to show how Hitchcock reached a specific target audience. The films, to which I will be referring are
Psycho (1960) and The Birds (1963) , I will illustrate the techniques, which the director (Alfred
Hitchcock) used to appeal to specific audiences. In particular I will be paying close attention to the
shower scene from Psycho and the school scene from The Birds .
I will firstly give you an overview of what happens in each film. Psycho is a horror/thriller. It stars

Alfred Hitchcock had to abide by the Hays code in order to make the film worthy of release in
America. Compared to today s Hollywood censorship code the hays code seems extremely strict. Most
of the successful may have had to lose some of their most effective and audience attracting scenes in
order to be released at the time of the Hays code.
The following are some of rules of the Hays Code:
No explicit Nudity may be shown.
Audience should not be made to sympathise with wrong doers.
A wrong doer should not be shown to get away with any wrong doing.
In addition, blasphemy and bad language (even words such as Damn or Hell ) were forbidden as was
excessive, lustful kissing and embracing: which was considered totally unacceptable.
Alfred Hitchcock managed to keep within all these boundaries yet he was able to produce films which
audiences of today, when rules are far more relaxed, find shocking.
There is no nudity shown. Even when Marion is showering in the shower scene no part of her body
was shown that was not necessarily needed. Jus to be safe she wore a skin suit so that Alfred could

23. Alienation In The Misanthrope
According to Florencia, the play The Misanthrope is very contemporary because the story revolves
around the feeling of rejection towards society and almost everything that surrounds it. Also, she
added the subsequent isolation that a person feels. It happens all the time. People tend to hate the
people around them yet, they can t stand that deep loneliness they find. People will have different
perceptions why they would experience such situation. Some would believe that they are indeed
cursed or have been hit by karma and then kind of give up, accepting that miserable existence. They
might accept it until they find that special someone that dislikes that side of the world, too. That What!
You too? I thought that no one but myself... moment. Or they die alone, whatever comes first. No
matter the time or place, some people feel like outcasts, and that brings the issue of alienation. Other
people would start to look at them like the personification of abnormality. Like human beings that just
hate humanity for the hell of it. Like misanthropes.
Moreover, Florencia said that the book was an insightful play about the essence of human nature, our
virtues and flaws. Molière brilliantly portrayed the hypocrisy of its time through Alceste, the

Victorian morality can describe any set of values that exercise sexual restraint, intolerance of
criminality and a strict social code of conduct. The word Victorian has a wide range of connotations,
most specifically the high moral standards, but today the Victorian era is usually associated with

Families were considered the most important to Victorians. Families were large relative to the modern

taught to know their place . For parents, the education of their children was the most important
responsibility. They believed that a child must know ethics to become a proper adult. A common
saying in that time was Spare the rod and spoil the child . The family system is very much patriarchal:
male dominated. However, challenges to attitudes towards sexual relations and the role of women are
posed by New Woman .
In the Victorian Era women were seen as fitting in the domestic sphere , and this stereotype required
them to provide their husbands with a clean home, food and the ability to raise children. Women were
expected to be obedient, devoted and possess extreme levels of maternal care. The New Woman,
however, was a feminist ideal that rose in the late nineteenth century which had a significant influence

The Greek God Zeus was smitten by a nymph called Callisto. Zeus s wife Hera then turned Callisto
into a bear out of jealousy. While she was a bear Callisto encountered her son Arcas, who wanted to
kill the bear out of pure instinct. Zeus wanting to stop Arcas from killing Callisto, turned Arcas into a

Callisto safe.

beauty. She was married to the God Hephaestus which was arranged by Zeus once he realized the
threat that she imposed with her beauty.
Aphrodite refused to marry Hephaestus when she was first approached by Zeus. She loved a mortal

For centuries, art has been a way to express oneself. Some of the most famous artists started off just

started off his career like that, Pablo Picasso. From a young age, Picasso became a child prodigy and
displayed the characteristics of an artist. He is known for his groundbreaking influential works that

his passing, and his ability to turn anything into art (Pablo Picasso Biography Painter). Growing up, he
was taught how to draw by his father, who was an artist. In his early years, he attended school, and
later dropped out because the teachers could not help him solve the technical problems he had. At this

The words can only be taken seriously if it is truly believed in one s heart. Morrissey et al (2010, p. 5)
suggest that the individual s whole life must back up the declaration of faith, otherwise it is
meaningless. Once the declaration is completed and witnessed by two others, they can be considered a
true Muslim. They have now shown their respect towards Allah and all other Muslims and can pass on
their own knowledge. The declaration of faith is recited constantly throughout a Muslim s life.
Significant times are at the birth of a baby, before death, waking and going to sleep. The first part of
the declaration, There is no God but Allah shows the importance of tawhid as it is the belief in the
existence, oneness and unity of Allah. Without believing in tawhid, Shahadah cannot be practiced as
there would be no true meaning behind it. This highlights the importance of tawhid while practically
expressing Shahadah. The declaration of faith is said while believing in tawhid, but also while
believing in all six articles of faith such as the existence of angels. The belief of angels is central to
Islam as they are the messengers of God. They are spirits created by Allah to express worship,
obedience and service as they witness Allah and all his glory (Mufti, 2006, p. 1). All angels provide a
service or duty. Angels mentioned throughout the Qur an include Raphael, Michael, Angel of death,

Although the central concerns of women during the eighteen century was of courtship and marriage,
social graces, and dignity, money was also a very important concern. Many of the female characters in
eighteenth century novels are portrayed as intensely aware of finances and markedly interested in the

In eighteenth century England, everyone was incredibly conscious of their social positions.
Consequently, the rich rarely married the poor (Heyck, 47 64). Thus, when the younger brother

No, the COO is not due a bonus. The reason the profits seem higher under absorption costing is that
there are substantial fixed costs of the period that were capitalized because production was so much
higher than sales. The fixed costs is trapped on the balance sheet and will be expensed when the items
are sold. See reconciliation in Excel for a visual on this.
4. Identify and explain any important ethical issues you see in this case.
In determining the fixed costs per unit for the period for absorption costing (not needed for variable
costing since the entire fixed cost is expensed as a cost of the month, not a cost of units), you spread
the fixed costs across all the units made. Since production was increased substantially, the fixed cost
per unit was reduced:
Fixed manufacturing cost per unit: at 140,000 units $ 13.71 at 175,000 units $ 10.97
This gives the illusion of lower cost of goods sold (and thus higher profits) but it is, in fact, just a
temporary capitalizing of the fixed manufacturing costs due to inventory build up.
While building inventories does trap fixed costs on the balance sheet, pressuring managers to improve
profits gives them an incentive to build inventories to spread the fixed costs thinner and make COGS
smaller per unit. This is not ethical. Building inventories in order to improve a profit computation is
not profession or ethical but the pressure to perform

32. Analysis Of The Poem The Open Boat
The Unidentified Tone in The Open Boat The tone most readers find in The Open Boat by Stephen
Crane is a person alone in the universe. That particular tone is the easiest to see when; a group of four
men are in a ten foot dinghy with nothing to their north, south, east, and west except water around
their position. The men seem to recognize that they are helpless in the face of nature. Their lives could
be lost at any moment by the most common of natural phenomena: a wave, a current, the wind, a
shark, or even simple starvation and exposure. The men are at the mercy of mere chance. (The Open)
With that specific thought out in the open, there is an adventure of finding the other tones of the story.
Luck, chance, and hints of despair are a few of the other tones in this short story. The tone to be on the
lookout for in The Open Boat is one of concern, hope and will to survive. One feeling a person could
feel by reading the story is being alone. The only characters for most of the story are isolated in the
middle of the ocean looking for rescuers, they believe will come from the mainland. Throughout the
years since Stephen Crane published The Open Boat , people have implied that the story was based on
his experience of, the Commodore sinking off the coast of Florida. In his article he purposely left out

going straight down, trots down the service road and is waiting for us when we finally get to the
bottom.
The slides down the hill have destroyed what few groceries we have left. Starvation inspires larceny.
Champ Bond s ski lodge is open so we let ourselves in to see if there s anything to eat. We find one
nearly empty box of black licorice with three hard, desiccated pieces of the best tasting black licorice
we ve ever eaten. Sorry, Champ.
We spend a long, cold, hungry night camped under an equipment lean to. Hungry but happy to have
escaped the vampire horde of mosquitoes.
In the morning, when Dad arrives we have everything in a neat

35. Claude Monet Haystacks
Claude Monet was a French artist of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. He used very gestural brush
strokes in many of his painted, making them less realistic like any of the artist were doing at the time.
He was thought of as the father of Impressionism. Impressionism is taking a image out of the realism
skim and making it looked less real and instead more of a painting. This is done by the long and large
brush strokes in many of Monet s pieces, making them an Impression of an image rather than going
for a photographic look. The movement name actually came from reviewers stating that the work was
an impression of an image rather than its own piece of art.

This made it easy for Mondrian to make the pieces such like haystacks. The elements of the movement
are color, line, and value. In the painting Monet used very bright and dark colors, and used large
brushstroke lines as well. The value is seen in the darkness of the background and the brightness of the
green lilies. This is also seen in many of the other pieces of impressionism in this time period.
Monet employs the principles of organization through scale, emphasis, contrast, and proportion. He
uses the close up scale of the haystack to show its emphasis in the piece. The contrast of the bright sky
on the darker haystack is very defined as well.
He used many elements of design in his piece as well. Line is a huge one; you can see the lines from
the shadows, the parallel lines of the tops of the haystacks, and the landscape horizontal line as well.
He also showed a ton of space since the haystacks are all on the left side, the right is a huge open
space in the painting. Form is also used in the piece, considering the haystacks look 3D to the human
eye. The color and value work together to create the darkness of the haystacks and shadows, and the
light blue of the sky as well. Mass is the last element seen in this piece. The haystacks seem so
massive in the foreground compared to the horizon in the face background of the

36. The Theme Of Money In My Mortal Enemy By Willa Cather
There are many themes and symbols shown throughout My Mortal Enemy by Willa Cather, from love
to marriages, and choices. The motif I want to analyze is the motif of money. Money is used
throughout the whole book, it used to help persuade decisions, it characterizes their lavish lifestyle,
and it is what caused Oswald to become Myra s mortal enemy.
Myra, being an orphan child was raised by her great uncle, John Driscoll, who grew up a poor boy and
made his fortune employing contract labor in the Mississippi swamps (10). The novel describes their
lavish lifestyle in which they lived in a grand house on a ten acre park and was the finest property in
Parthia. Mr. Driscoll had fast horses that made national record, and Myra would throw balls and
garden parties, where she would have the band play their music (10). Myra s aunt said that Myra had
everything: dresses and jewels, a fine riding horse, a Steinway piano , and how her uncle took her to
Ireland and had her painted by one of the famous painters there (10 11).
At a youthful age, Myra did not care about money, though she cared about love. She fell in love with a
gentleman named Oswald Henshawe, but Mr. Driscoll had an old grudge of some sort with Oswald
father, and Driscoll did not like the idea Myra and Oswald being together. Oswald had left Parthia and
went to college at Harvard; he then moved to New York and after two years he was in the position to
get married (12). Then he wrote to John Driscoll for Myra s hand in

37. Review Of Five Reasons Why The Gulf Stopped Funding Al Sisi
Genre Analysis:
The social purpose of this Factorial explanation is that any historical event can be illustrated by two or
more factors (Martin Rose, 2007) to describe the events that happened on July 24, 2014. A Factorial
explanation has different stages, which include Phenomenon and explanation. These stages consist of
various factors. The first three stages are combined together to construct the nucleus, while the
explanation is divided into various factors. These factors could be functioning as explanation of
reasons that affect the occurrence of the phenomenon. The headline of the factorial explanation, which
is titled Five reasons why the Gulf stopped funding Al Sisi , draws attention to the most vital aspect of
the news event and makes the reader of the news more relevant to the story. In the next stage, which is
the phenomenon, it introduces the main event. In addition, the explanation stage in this factorial

38. Literary Analysis Of Ross Capicchioni By Joyner Lucas
The song Ross Capicchioni by Joyner Lucas can be a prime example of a literary piece because of its
plot, multi perspectives, and tone throughout the song. Manipulating words so that it could fit into
different rhyming schemes to set a specific tone has added a dramatic and poetic effect on literary
writings. A good plot is one of, if not the most critical part of a literary piece because it keeps a reader,
viewer or listener interested in the piece. Lastly, the multi perspectives of the piece makes it literary
because of the ability to imagine and bring to life both points of views are rare in writings, songs and
poems.
Ross Capicchioni is based on a true story, which is about a 10th grade transfer student (Ross
Capicchioni) that is greeted and welcomed by another student at his high school. While Ross was
enjoying his time at school and building his friendship with one of his peers, the so called friend was
plotting to kill Ross but could not find a good time to do it. The song finally gets to a point where
Ross is offered a car by his uncle and is asked by his friend to be dropped off on a side of town that is
known to be gang affiliated. Regardless of the countless signs Ross notice s, he refuses to follow his
gut but he continues to help his friend . When they arrived at the destination Ross is stripped out of the
car and is shot with a shot gun 3 times (chest, head, and arm). Once he realizes that he has been shot
and tries to fight through the pain, the writer switches perspective from the victim to the perpetrator.
When the Joyner starts to rap, he first sets the tone of the song. Woke up at 7, my day seemed more
than I prayed for, Got dressed to head out and ride to school on my skateboard while the line seems to
be very basic to others, Joyner tells the listener this to give a sense of innocents to the character
throughout the story. Right after Joyner shows innocents of the high school kid, he follows the two
lines with New kid in class I sat alone takin notes while the hoodlums were makin jokes at the clothes
that my momma paid for . By now Joyner has also told us what type of neighborhood and kids that the
innocent kid is dealing with in his school. Using the term hoodlums tells

Cirrhosis of the Liver: Causes, Detection and Prevention
University of Phoenix Online Campus
Cirrhosis of the Liver is a horrible disease that takes the lives of many people every year. There are
many causes, symptoms, ways to diagnose and treatments that surround this disease as well as many
ways that this fatal disease can be prevented.
The liver is a key organ when it comes to making the body function properly (National Digestive
Diseases Information Clearinghouse, 2003). As the second largest organ the body has, next to the skin,
it serves many purposes. It produces immune agents to control infections, removes germs, bacteria and

Symptoms may differ depending on the stage of the disease but some common symptoms are loss of
appetite, fatigue, weight loss or gain, jaundice, retaining of fluid, blood in the stool or fever (Digestive
Disorders Health Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008). There are other symptoms of Cirrhosis of the
Liver but these are the most common. All of these symptoms help in the detection of this horrible
disease. The faster Cirrhosis is detected, the better off the person s chances of survival are. However,
there is no cure for Cirrhosis of the Liver and depending on the cause of the disease, some treatments
can slow down the progression and minimize damage to liver cells, (Digestive Disorders Health
Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008).
Cirrhosis of the Liver can be detected in a few ways. One way is testing. A physical exam, blood tests
and some other tests can help doctor s detect and diagnose this disease (Digestive Disorders Health
Center Cirrhosis of the Liver, 2008). In a physical exam a doctor can feel any changes in the shape of
the liver, how it feels and how large it is (Digestive Disorders Health Center Cirrhosis of the Liver,
2008). Blood tests can prove whether or not a person has Cirrhosis of the Liver. Other tests include
taking pictures of the liver (CT Scan) or an ultrasound (Digestive Disorders Health Center Cirrhosis of
the Liver, 2008). Other ways that it can be detected are by a biopsy or

40. The Hobbit And Lord Of The Rings
Once upon a time, before more mainstream genre defining fantasy works such as The Hobbit and Lord
of the Rings, before there even existed an actual fantasy genre at all, Lord Dunsany masterfully
crafted the fantastical The King of Elfland s Daughter, an opulent tapestry of a tale of what could
happen in a typical fairy tale following the happily ever after. Writing in the early years of the
twentieth century, Lord Dunsany was a pioneer in the fantasy genre. He very much belonged to an
earlier, perhaps more enlightened age, when fantasy writers were known for the beauty of their prose
as much as the fantastical nature of their stories. In her essay From Elfland to Poughkeepsie, Ursula K.
Le Guin, author and fanatic of fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Le Guin sees the act of speech in fantasy as the act of creation only the author can create (95), and
Lord Dunsany is a masterful creator in this sense. Since the rules of our world cannot be used to
understand fantastical realms, it is entirely fitting that our language is not adequate for fantasy, either.
To create what Tolkien calls a secondary universe is to make a new world. A world where no voice has
ever spoken before; where the act of speech is the act of creation. The only voice that speaks there is
the creator s voice. And every word counts (Le Guin 95). Because of his lack of dialogue, this
statement is especially true for Dunsany, who Le Guin maintains is the most imitated, and the most
inimitable, writer of fantasy (88). Dunsany s descriptions of landscape, and the words his characters
inhabit, make up the majority of The King of Elfland s Daughter. We cannot rely on the characters to
explain how the world they live in works, nor can we infer this information through character
interaction. We must rely almost entirely on the words Dunsany uses in his descriptions to understand
his worlds. Typical sentence structure and vocabulary cannot give the reader the sense of wonder
Dunsany aims to convey about his worlds, whether they be typical English woods, or Elfland.
Dunsany s language functions in a poetic and musical style, and the repetition of certain phrases helps
give his language this effect. It is

41. Animal Rights And Human Rights
The idea that animals have rights seems to be heavily agreed on by a large majority of scholars whom
have studied this topic. However, what comes into question is understanding the severity and range of
these rights. How do we determine the level of animal rights? How do we understand animal rights in
relation to human rights? This paper aims to address these questions by showing that animals have the
basic rights to live a life without harm, but cannot have equal rights to humans because of our
dependence on them and their inability to reason and communicate with humans.
Let s start with how humans think and then we will create a connection between human and emotion
and how animals feel. Humans are sentient beings, meaning they feel a wide range of emotions,
including happiness and pain. In general, we try to fill our lives with as much happiness as possible
while avoiding pain whenever we can. Peter Singer, a lifetime philosopher and advocate of animal
rights, states that animals are sentient beings as well (Singer 33). This means that animals have the
same interests in living a life of happiness and void of pain, just as humans do. Assuming Singer s
statement to be true, we can now state that animals feel happiness and pain, just as humans do.
Now that we know that animals feel happiness and pain, we will show that humans should not put
animals through unnecessary pain. One of the hallmarks of human rights is that one human should
never harm another. When this right is

Unfortunately, freshwater snails like many other river species across North America are threatened.
The abundance and variety of snails have dramatically declined over the last 80 years, especially those
species that inhabit streams and rivers. Approximately 60 species of freshwater snails are presumed
extinct, 20 are on the federal endangered or threatened species list, and another 290 species are of
conservation concern nationwide. The decline of freshwater snails began in the early twentieth
century. Dam construction and other channel modifications, siltation, and industrial and agricultural
pollution have all degraded the river habitats on which most species depend. As a result, the species
richness and the abundance of freshwater snails have declined dramatically. This decline has been
especially pronounced in the Southeastern United States where these animals are most diverse. The
continued loss and decline of freshwater snails and other river species are testament to the fact that

44. War During The Twentieth Century War Poetry Essay
Throughout the twentieth century, many poets have written about war. They have protested against it,
created propaganda in support, celebrated conflict, and questioned it. War in general tends to evoke
emotion in everyone, whether it is pride in a country, grief of losing a loved one, fear of the unknown,
or even happiness because of a victory. On page one of Philippa Lyon s Twentieth Century War Poetry
, she writes, ...much poetry has been written by individuals (both male and female) who were not
necessarily in the thick of battle. She is saying that a lot of them poems were written by individuals
with a different point of view of the war than the soldiers. Not all of war poetry was written by soldier
poets, who offer a first hand account of what it was like and their experiences. Lyons then continues
and writes, ...the poetry poses direct questions about motivation, intent and fairness; that is to say,
about the nature, morality and politics of war. The individuals had many questions about the war and
they present those questions through poetry. It is not always seen as an individual s hardship and
struggles turned into art. Amy Lowell s September 1918 and Carl Sandburg s Grass both describe a
common theme of war, which evokes a spectrum of emotions. Lowell s use of imagery and diction in
her poem evokes a plethora of emotions. As an Imagist, she used a lot of imagery in her poems. The

45. Forgiveness And Its Impact On Education
To resolve a conflict, forgiveness is at some point is a must. It may not come immediately, but one has
to be open to having the ability to both give and receive it in order for reconciliation to be successful.
One may ask how forgiving someone they are in conflict with is important to achieving a positive
outcome, such as reconciliation. This paper is going to explore that question and show that yes, having
the ability to forgive, is very significant in finding a resolution to the conflict. It will research,
viewpoints on forgiveness and its much needed contribution to resolve a conflict. It will look into how
the field of psychology views the importance of forgiveness and that of a biblical worldview and even
the effects it can have on your daily health. Not everyone looks at forgiveness the same, most all want
some kind of resolution or reconciliation when conflicts arise. In some people, forgiveness comes
naturally but in others it can be learned. Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you (Holy Bible ESV). The purpose of this paper is
providing research to show the importance of forgiveness, both of oneself and to others, because
without it, some conflicts become never ending. Forgiveness is a way of healing human relationships
and solving human conflicts (Gopin, 2001, para. 1). Forgiveness comes in many forms such as verbal

46. Charlotte Beers Case Summary
BACKGROUND
Charlotte Beers became Ogilvy Mather s first outsider CEO after its acquisition by WPP Group Plc in
1991. According to her memo dated May 19th, Beers objective was to re invent the mega agency,
whose inertia and complacency had eroded its competitiveness since the 1980s. In fact, Beer s tenure
at Ogilvy constituted a re creation of the agency, redefining its aims, processes, people, and structure
in reaction to the demands placed by the changing advertising industry.
ANALYSIS
The main issue that confronted Beers was initiating and instituting organizational change at the core
level. She assumed the leadership of Ogilvy at a time when the organization was internally bleeding.

HOW CHARLOTTE BEERS LEADERSHIP CREATED STRATEGIC CHANGE
Ogilvy s insiders quickly perceived a presence and ability to inspire in Beers that they had not found
in the firm s four previous CEOs. Despite the company s typical rejection of outsiders, Beers known
passionate interest in the philosophy of marketing, and her pride in the Ogilvy brand made many
executives receptive to her leadership. Since no one makes change happen alone, the charisma she
inspired was crucial for Beers to initiate the process of change. It was the magic leadership that O M
had not seen since David Ogilvy left.
Beers quickly exploited her charisma by instituting a process that conformed to Beer, Eisenstat
Spector s model for effective organizational change. First, Beers immediately mobilized commitment
to change through her videotaped appeal to all 7,000 Ogilvy employees, as well as in one on one
meetings with executives. In addition, Beers gained valuable perspective by meeting with 50 clients in
6 months. In each instance, Beers relied on her charisma to coax shared expectations and dreams from
internal and external stakeholders. Clearly, by asking each group what they can accomplish together,
Beers sought a shared vision of how Ogilvy could organize and manage for competitiveness. Her
rallying point: Brand Stewardship.

47. Why Tarzan Is Not An Appropriate Movie
At age 6, one would expect a kid to be innocent and have nothing but good thoughts. At an older age
though, all those innocent thoughts are taken away and that boy who was once a kid is faced with the
reality of the world. A child who is six old years old and younger shouldn t have to deal with all that
negative information about death, rejection, replacement, and the truth about society. A movie
containing all of that should not be seen by kids who are younger than seven, which is why Tarzan is
not an appropriate movie. The movie may have a happy ending, but the parts that lead up to that
ending are not as happy as one may think. Connie Zweig and Jeremiah Abrams are the authors of The
Shadow of Everyday Life. They describe The Shadow as having negative emotions and behaviors
rage, jealousy, shame... suicidal and murderous tendencies (Zweig 324). All of these are presented in
the movie. At first, Tarzan begins with a couple that escape a burning ship and then are forced to go
into the jungle with their son Tarzan. Meanwhile, two gorilla parents are smiling, cradling, and
cuddling with their baby gorilla. One night, when the gorillas are sleeping, the baby gorilla sees a frog
and runs after it. He soon stops in front of a leopard. The leopard lets out a big roar that wakes up the

48. Delusions In Hitchcock s Psycho
The next symptom of psychosis is delusions. Delusions are unwavering mistaken beliefs. Specifically,
it is beliefs that are widely accepted to be false or are contradicted by facts. The difficulty in
identifying delusions in literature is that every delusional person has their own mental fallacies. Since
it is next to impossible to tell what a fictional character is thinking, much less what is believed, only
the effect of the delusions can be analyzed. Norman Bates from Robert Bloch s novel, Psycho, later
immortalized in Alfred Hitchcock s film by the same title, is a prime example of the misrepresentation
of delusional behaviors. The primary reasons that Norman Bates is not truly a delusional character is
because he accepts that Norma Bates, Mother , is deceased, he accepts that he has a separate identity
than Mother, and most importantly, he has distinct memories that contradict the beliefs of Mother,
therefore, he is able to recall, internalize, and act upon these memories. As a child Norman was taught

49. Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise
Chapter 1: Problem Definition
Background
Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any enterprise.
According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any company ...is the
individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And according to Axilrod
(2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of approximately five hours a day,
paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and
pension reduction, it is vital for administration and management to stay on top of what sustains
employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several elements contribute to effective employee
productivity, including employee job satisfaction and morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow,
2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009).
Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the profession or type of work, the central element that has
had a stake in productivity, longevity and overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p.
13).
The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector.
