The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In Schools
When it comes to cultural diversity in schools, a lot of issues have the potential to come up.
Currently, I feel that I am somewhat competent of the cultural diversity that exists in the world,
but I have a lot more to learn. Some important things to consider when working with diverse
populations are the morals and values that specific cultures hold and how they differ from what I
know and live by. Becoming more aware of other cultures will help me be able to work with
everyone no matter what culturethey identify with. One thing that I think students will benefit
from in schools is having a group to identify with whether is may be a culturally diverse group of
people from many different places or a group solely for a specific culture. With these groups, we
can help educate all students in the school to help them become more aware of their peers and help
create a healthier and more accepting environment.
Section 2: Personal Application of Theory: Learning about all of the different theories that
contribute to the field of counseling has not only taught me a lot about the profession, but it has
taught me a lot about myself personally. I strongly feel that I have learned so much about myself
that I never knew before through learning about theories and potential interventions to use with my
future students. Reflecting back upon the content, I have found that the theories that I identify with
the most are ones that I think would benefit me the most or that I know have

The Development Of Engineers Without Borders
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Engineers without Borders aims to provide those living in poverty a higher standard of living
through initiatives specifically engineered for their regions. One such project designed by
Engineers without Borders is the Bambui initiative. Bambui, a village located in the North West
Region of Central Africa s Cameroon contains a small portion of Cameroon s total population of
22.25 million people. Bambui, with a population of 50,000 people and its poor standard of living
proves to be an obstacle. Due to the lack of infrastructure and urban planning of the markets which
provide the village with much needed income, Engineers without Borders aims to improve the area
by addressing these current problems with solutions.
2.0 PROBLEM DEFINITION
The market of Bambui is one of the largest and most important aspects of the region, providing a
source of income to the local community as well as the surrounding population who sell clothes,
shoes and raw foods as well as food stalls and restaurants. The pollution identified throughout the
markets comes mainly from the inability for them to dispose of waste properly due to lack of
transportation in and out of the market, and also the sprawl of stalls. The accessibility of owners
and locals through the market comes as a struggle and therefore require a plan in which would
assist owners to receive their transported goods and also dispose of waste that was not sold
throughout the day.
The pollution affects both the

What Was Suleiman s Last Battle
Suleiman s greatest victory may have been the Battle of Mohacs but, it certainly was not his last
battle during his reign. Suleiman s new alliance with Francis would serve beneficial to him in
these future battles, by having the French for support. The information that Suleiman and Francis
had become allies, sent Europe in to an uproar. For Francis to form an alliance with the Muslims
was irreligious. But, Francis did not question his alliance with Suleiman, he needed the ally in the
war against Charles. Suleiman, as well, would need the backing of Francis, not immediately, but in
future battles. The next campaign of battles Suleiman would see would be on the path to siege
Vienna, where Suleiman hoped to finish off Charles V. On May 10, 1529

Roxelana (the Russian woman), nicknamed Hurrem (the merry one), was given to Suleiman as
a gift early in his reign, by his Grand Vizier, Ibrahim. Before Roxelana, the Ottomans followed a
one concubine one rule tradition. When she first arrived at the palace she attacked the chief
sultana at the time Gulbahar, tearing her hair out and scratching her face so that she could not
appear as beauty in front of Suleiman no more. With her successful ploy to rid the palace of the
chief sultana, she now had the full attention of Suleiman for herself. As time passed Suleiman
became more infatuated with Roxelana and she now wanted to bring the now separate Harem, or
house of the concubines, together under one roof. She found her window of opportunity when a
fire destroyed the Old Seraglio and requested to move into the new palace with Suleiman,
Suleiman welcomed the idea. Suleiman became extremely intimate and attached to her to this
point and decided upon marriage with her. SAY SOME SHIT ABOUT HIS POEM TO HER.
With the marriage the Ottomans found it as unfamiliar and were not sure what to make of it. As,
one stated in the Journal of the Genoese Book of Saint George, Everybody is talking about the
marriage but, nobody is sure what it means . It was clear that Roxelana was the

Analyze The Values Of American Society
The following paper with analyze the values of American society and prove there are more
disadvantages than advantages to a high degree of agreement on these values. A large amount of
agreement on most of the values considered American could be detrimental to the country and as
an international power. Most American values revolve around accomplishment and fulfilling a
goal. Materialism, efficiency, demanding work, and competition are all values considered the
focus of most Americans. Materialism is the end goal; by working efficiently and beating the
competition, one can acquire all the possessions they want. In lesser amounts, these values can
push a nation forward economically. however, at the scale America utilizes these values, resources
are wasted, foreign relations are strained, and many within the country are left struggling.
Capitalism is moral and practical as it leaves the individual free to think rationally and act
productively to sustain one s life and experience happiness on earth. In macroeconomic terms,
capitalism is the best system available and the system America has always used. When looking at
individual communities and families struggling to simply make ends meet, it is easy to question
why the government will not set in and help its own people. When America was smaller and
agriculturally focused, capitalism worked for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a utopian society, everyone agrees on the values they wish to uphold, but as communism,
fascism, and Marxism have taught the world, utopia is unrealistic. In George Orwell s novel,

widespread agreement on what values a nation should uphold lead to an extremely restricted range

The report captures the findings and interface gaps on the current usage of Sun System, Actisure,
Medis and Ilanga systems compared to the potential benefits envisaged if medical receipting and
payments were done wholly under one core system i.e. Actisure.
This report puts forwards the justification for consolidating all the medical receipting and payments
processing into the core medical system, to improve the efficiency of operations and eliminate most
of the manual related processes in the current scenario. The Actisure Medical system already has the

the real estate industry and therefore, it is the duty of the realtor to ensure that the needs of the

One Trip To The Trashcan
Times are tough, and more people are cooking at home than dining out. However, some of them
are starting to get frustrated with how much time it takes to prepare a good meal. Here are three
great tips to make cooking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Cooking Tip #1: Make One Trip to
the Trashcan Running back and forth to the trashcan is aggravating (as well as inefficient). You
can make only one trip by lining a colander, sink strainer, small trash can, or other wide mouthed
receptacle with a plastic shopping bag and keeping it next to your cutting board. If your cutting
board happens to be right next to the sink, place the lined receptacle in the basin. Otherwise place
the receptacle at your feet (but be careful not to trip over it). Toss... Show more content on

Limiting the use of our utilities is not only beneficial to our budget but also to the environment as
well. Here are several useful and lesser known tips in conserving energy while you are in the
kitchen. While being in the kitchen, the stove is one of the main items that will use up the most
energy, so it is important to be wise with your energy consumption when cookingon it. Adjust the
burners when using a gas based cooking top so that the flames just barely touch or are a tad
lower than the bottom of the pans you are cooking on. Flames that curl around a pan waste more
energy. However, if you are using an electric cook top, put the pan on a coil that is similar in
size. Place the pan so that its bottom lies absolutely flat on the burner. This will conserve a great
deal of energy. Also, when using an electric stove, set the burners on high first and then proceed to
lower it to finish the cooking. For dishes that aren t pans, turn off the burner completely at the end
as the element will hold the heat for several minutes. In addition to your stoves, the oven vent on an
electrical range can be very useful. If you are using an oven vent on an electrical range, you will
find that the vent is under one of the burners. While the oven is in use, you will be able to feel
the hot air flowing through the vent. For dishes that you would like to warm, set them on that
burner. This will minimize the use of a microwave and will also optimize the use of your
burners. Now, for dishes that need to cook for long periods of time, particularly over an hour,
there is no need to preheat your oven (unless you are cooking a turkey that needs a crisp skin). For
dishes that must be cooked just under an hour, extend the cooking time for a little bit. The only
preheating that is required is for dishes that have a short baking time. Although this seems like a
very obvious tip

The Purpose Of The Milgram Experiment
The Milgram Experiment is one of the most famous studies in psychology. It was carried out by
Stanley Milgram, a psychologist from Yale University. The purpose of the experiment was to
study how far people would go in obeying an instruction from an authority figure if it involved
hurting another person. Milgram wanted to study whether Germans were more obedient to
authority as this was what people believed was the main reason for Nazi killings in World War
II. 40 males were chosen to participate in the study, and were paid $4.50 for attending. The
experiment was carried out as follows: participants were introduced to a partner, although they
were all actors the pairs drew straws to see who was going to be acting as a learner, and who
would be acting as a teacher. This part of the experiment was rigged so the unknowing
participants would always be the teacher the pairs were split up into seperate rooms where the
learner was strapped to an electric chair the learner has already learned a list of word pairs that
were given to him, and the teacher tests them by naming a word and asking the learner to recall
its pair. the teacher was told to give an electric shock every time the learned made a mistake.
There was a different voltage of shock each time, ranging from 15 to 450 volts. The teacher did not
know, but the shocks were not actually administered. The learner made mistakes on purpose, and
faked harm when they were electrocuted . If the teacher did not want to

Reflection About Failure
The fundamental foundations of our personality and the lifestyle we live is grounded in our
failures of the past, present, and future. We base our decisions in the experiences of the past and
those choices lead to our future. The lessons we learn in our failure are what make us grow as
people and become better versions of ourselves. I personally have tasted the bitterness of failure
many times, it is only after you are out of the pain or embarrassment you can realize that what
you went though was not a completely awful ordeal. Through my many graceful highlights I
have learned to not make the same mistakes and I have become smarter. There is no such thing
as the perfect human being, we are born imperfect and made to make mistakes. It is how we
learn to overcome and grow out of hardships. The most deadly failure is the one that does not
allow us to experience defeat, it is the failure to take action. If we are too afraid to put ourselves
out there and experience new things or be vulnerable we will never experience the full extent of
life or what it means to be alive, human even. When we hesitate because we are afraid of rejection,
humiliation, pain, or the fear of failure, we are cutting ourselves short of our true potential. We
learn from a young age that failure equals shame and discomfort through life experiences but we
rarely remember that it is the experience of that failure that allows us to mature. As an artist, failure
is something commonly struggled with

Environment And Human Environment
Ecosystems is the dynamic complex of plant, animal and micro organism communities and their
non living environment that work together to form a functional unit and they are constantly
changing due to the fluctuating equilibrium from natural stress and human action which has had
adversarial impacts on ecosystems. This is evident in Minnamurra rainforest as human induced
modifications and environmental stresses had resulted in a vulnerable ecosystem. Furthermore, the
removal of factors that contribute to the vulnerability of an ecosystem is important as it affect the
functioning of the ecosystem as processes are accelerated, biodiversityis decreased which greatly
affects humans. Despite the negative effects caused by humans, they have discovered that
ecosystems are susceptible from harm caused by natural environmental factors or human impacts
and realised the importance of protecting and managing ecosystems therefore have implemented
management strategies that are supposed to prevent further detriment and as a consequence may
induce resiliency.
Within Minnamurra rainforest all biophysical components rely on each other, for example changes
to the lithosphere (gaseous elements surrounding the earth), can cause stress to the flora and fauna
within the ecosystem and impact other abiotic factors. Human interaction has also caused many
detrimental impacts on the ecosystem through changes in lithospheric processes. For instance
littering can bring unwanted diseases that can affect

Characteristics Of An Entity The Brain Relies On The...
In life humans face many complex experiences and situations and we need to break these down
into simpler more meaningful components so we can make sense of them and what they
represent or mean, we do this by categorising them into groupings of similar features (van
Mechelen, 1993). To be able to identify or recognise an entity the brain relies on the memory to
be able to remember every single item encountered in a lifetime is difficult so categorisation is
used to simplify this process. An exemplar is a specific item of a category and a prototype is the
typical representation of a category (Burton, 2015). There is evidence that some organisms
including humans are born with an innate knowledge of some categories, but most categories are
learnt during early development stages and built upon as development continues into adulthood,
refined and updated with experience (Barsalou, 2014). Some exemplars have more features in
common to the category definition and are easier to place in a category compared to others that
have less features of the category, e.g. if birdis the category its general common features are
wings, small, lays eggs, and feathers then sparrows have all of these features and are easily fitted
into the category where an emu has less of these features taking longer to be placed (Barsalou,
2014). Category norms are tabulations of sets of exemplars of categories, (Casey, P. J., Heath,
1988), these lists then provide lists of items that fall under each

Trucking in the United States

ECON 210 Microeconomics
Economics Research Paper
Abstract: This paper will look at the work market for truck drivers in the United States. The
effects of a shortage and/or surplus of drivers and how the work market effects the country s
economy, and the workers way of life will be broken down. This paper will look at how adding
more jobs to this career also effects the supply and demand of goods, problems of finding qualified
workers, and the chances of an individual getting a job with others competing for the same job.

Something else more experienced drivers are worried about. 10 years ago I loved driving, now I
am scared to drive down the block, says James about the influx of new drivers in the industry, a
driver for Digby Southwest, a trucking company based out of Tucson, AZ. James has refused to
divulge his last name.
Conclusion
In conclusion, to have a healthy economy, goods must be moved to be bought. The trucking
industry has been a leading factor in moving goods since the 1900 s. Without it, the United States
will die in a minimum of 3 days. As for my thoughts on the matter, I believe the government needs
to start deregulating this industry. Many veteran drivers are in their retirement years and we will
need an influx of new drivers to take the helm. But unfortunately, many of these new drivers are
leaving the industry because they cannot handle the pressure put on them by the government. The
American highways are the safest they have ever been, so we need to stop thinking about how safe
we can make the roads, and start thinking about how we can keep these guys in the industry.

Morrie Schwartz was a man of great wisdom who loved and enjoyed to see and experience the
simplicity of life, something beyond life s most challenging and unanswered mysteries. It is
from Morrie that we learn that life is most happily experienced when enjoyed and fulfilled to its
highest ability. Morrie touched the lives of many, and he will always be remembered for his
sincerity and his compassion for life and for love. The lessons Morrie loved to teach were of his
own experience with life.
In his lessons, Morrie advises Mitch to reject the popular culture in favor of creating his own. The
individualistic culture Morrie encourages Mitch to create for him is a culture founded on love,
acceptance, and human goodness, a culture that upholds a set of ethical values unlike the mores
that popular culture endorses. Popular culture, Morrie says, is founded on greed, selfishness, and
superficiality, which he urges Mitch to overcome. Morrie also stresses that he and Mitch must
accept death and aging, as both are inevitable.
A symbol that represents Morrie s life throughout the book is the pink hibiscus plant. As Morrie s
body deteriorates, so does the condition of the hibiscus plant. The plant s pink petals wither and
fall as Morrie grows increasingly dependent on his aides and on oxygen. As his death approached,
so does the death of the plant. It is used as a metaphor for Morrie

Reflective Paper On Moral Responsibility
Reflective Paper Regarding Moral Responsibility of Rehabilitating Criminals
Dalia M Al Rubaye
Parkdale High School
Abstract
This paper is generally about the correlation between moral responsibility and rehabilitation. Moral
responsibility was examined in the context of criminals and ordinary people. What brings about a
crime, and what impels an individuals to commit an action that he realizes is wrong. Also, the
concept of rehabilitation and the way in which it is applied were examined to deliver a better
understanding of issues regarding criminals. Examining these concepts was the key used to depict
the moral responsibility, that s innate in people, and how it should be considered in rehabilitating
criminals.
Key words: Morality, self respect, conscience, rehabilitation
Moral Responsibility of Rehabilitating Criminals I am a person with very little knowledge
regarding criminology. Luckily, I ve acquired some knowledge from being a girl who loves to
read about philosophy. Linking between the morals I ve learned as a religious person and the
theories about the innate format of a human being presented by philosophers, I was able to initiate
my thinking process and organize my ideas. My ultimate goal was to get to the point where I m
able to decide whether the society and I are morally responsible of rehabilitating criminals or not.
Based on my trivial knowledge, I think that we, as individuals habitating the same community, are
morally responsible

CSI: How to identify an unknown white powder
Jiayue Sun
Introduction
The Identity of a chemical compound is extremely critical to observe. The identity can lead to
discovering its properties and can aid in its classification. Thus scientist all around the world put
high emphasis on the procedure to identify a compound through the flame test and chemical testing.
Flame test works to identify the cation within the compound, while chemical testing using certain
compounds and acid identifies the anion.
Flame test uses the differences of energy levels of an element. When the flame, from the micro
burner used, excites the electrons in their ground state, the electrons absorb the energy and move to
a higher energy level. Yet since the ground state is preferred, the electrons tend to move down the
energy level and emit the extra energy absorbed. This type of energy is emitted through photon and
wavelength, a characteristic of light. Thus, each element emits a certain type light which can be
used to identify it by consulting a chart with all the documented flame test results. In Particular for
this experiment, the test for ammonia and Magnesium is conducted with the addition of sodium
hydroxide and the observing for the presence of the odor of ammonia for ammonia or precipitate
for magnesium.
The chemical testing uses compounds including acids and alkaline to combine with the element.

Policy core beliefs are presumed to be stable and quite resistant to change. When experiences

beliefs, these beliefs may be susceptible to change. But change that results in dissonance with deep
core beliefs is very costly, and policy core beliefs are buttressed by a formidable array of cognitive
defenses that make change unlikely (e.g., Gilovich, Griffin, Kahneman, 2002). (Belief System

Vestal Virgins In The Roman Pageants
It was a cold January night, a full moon hung in the night sky, uncovering what couldn t be hidden
in that illuminating light, shining so revealingly bright once a month. From the shadows came out
22 women, but when the moon captured them with its beams of light, their innocent faces now bore
a smile of vengeance. One by one, the moonrevealed the fire in their eyes. All of them wore a
white woolen veil, and they walked as one. They circled two young men walking down the street,
and forced them to their knees. Two of the women glided towards the men, and each took out a
blade that they ignited using their eyes. They stabbed the two men with the burning blade, and
sprinkled unusual herbs on the wound. The other 20 creatures held hands completing the ritual,
and disappearing into the shadows; they all became stronger, as I felt a surge of weakness cover

Zoos Are A Valuable Source For Public Study And Revenue...
When I was a little girl, I was always eager to go to the zoo where I could get up close with
hundreds of beautiful animals. I had heard many interesting stories of animal lives and how hard
they had to fight in the wildlife to survive. The zoo, in my eyes, was a wonderful place where
animals were rescued and taken care of. It was much more interesting when I figured out
animals could do several things like monkeys could drive bicycles, and dolphins could dance in
the water. However, with the reveal of media, the zoo also has the other aspect that is not as
wonderful as I thought. Monkeys were not born to entertain us on bicycles, and dolphins do not
naturally dance in the water. They all have to go through a severe process of training to do tricks
and entertain for human. The zoo has many positive effects on both human and animal, but it
also go along with several negative consequences. While many zoos are a valuable source for
public studying and revenue for wildlife conservation, they also could take away animal
freedom, and torture them for commercial uses and entertainment. Many years ago, the zoo was
established as a place where people could come to explore animal that they had never seen
before. It was unclear when the earliest zoo was opened, but they were all established for the
purpose of public spectacles and animal study. According to the article Zoo published by
Encyclopædia Britannica, The earlier Egyptian and Asian zoos were kept mainly as public

Time Magazine Ad Analysis
Despite its beginning and transformations, TIME magazine has earned a following from all
walks of life, both for their website and print magazines. It was a magazine which started out
with a conservative, older reader base. Eventually the news stories became exceedingly objective
though, and anyone attempting the find true news stories these days has probably heard of TIME
magazine. In the December 14, 2015 issue of TIME magazine, an up and coming website,
Texture.com, has published an eye catching ad filled with commotion, fire, explosions and vibrant
colors. The ad would hardly be thought provoking though, without the sense of impending doom
which surrounds the figures in the ad s isolated atmosphere. While one firefighter tries to get the
attention of another, the man beside the truck presumably the truck driver tries to warn both of
the hapless firefighters of an inevitable explosion. The fire has already reached the back of the
vehicle, and as the flames had engulfed the front end, the fire will trickle downward and backward,
reaching and igniting every last explosive in it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

against it apparently has failed, and at least two of the people in the ad seem to be in danger. It is

The Shortage Of Donated Organs And The Issues With The...
Dying painfully in a hospital bed is not the way anyone wants to go. Unfortunately for many
people, it is a reality. Thousands of people a year end up dying while waiting for an organ that
could save their lives. While on the other side of the world, thousands of people die a year, but
from infection when an organis forcefully taken from them to sell on the black market. There are
two sides of the organ donation list, and both can end in death. This paper will discuss the
shortage of donated organs and the issues with the current donation system. It will also discuss the
black market for transplant organs and possible solutions to viable organ shortage. The focus of
this paper will be on transplant kidneys as they are the most desirable organ for buyers and sellers.
In order to be eligible for an organ donation list, you must be in end stage organ failure. This
means that one of the patient s organs has not been working for a while and it is impossible for
them to live without some kind of help or transplant. For many patients, end stage organ failure
can come as a shock even if they have known for months that one of their organs was failing. With
kidneys, this means the patients are put on dialysis if they are not already. Dialysis is a process that
mechanically helps to do the things that the kidneys normally do. This can include filtering waste
and toxins out of the body. Many organs can be transplanted from living and dead donors, including
kidneys, heart, lung,

The Development Process Of The New Testament Canon
LIBERTY UNIVERSITY THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT
CANON SUBMITTED TO DR. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL
BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement
to come from early church history is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon.
While we may not put much thought into it today, which books should be included or excluded
from the New Testament was once the center of much controversy. It took the church many
years to settle upon the current collection of books as being the proper Canon, making it more of
a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a universal Canon was only realized
after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian heretic Marcion. Marcion s
collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the church through
councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books became
part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE
DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of
the church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. The selection of books that were to
be included or excluded from the texts used by the church was the responsibility of each individual
church body, and thus varied greatly from location to location. Because there was no canon (books

The American Education Ideology
The importance of education is highly emphasized in American culture today. According to most
members of society, the more educated a person is, the better off they will be in the long run. The
idea that the furthering of one s education is important and is something everyone should partake
in even as adults can be considered an ideology, which is a system of beliefs or theories held by an
individual or a group.
Because of this educational growth mindset, plenty of American parents enroll their children in
some type of school program at an early age. According to the National Center for Education

Why Is Disney World A Dream Come True
Disney World is known as the place Where Dreams Come True because of the princesses and
fantasy characters created by Walt Disney. Disney World is really a fun, amazing place to visit
and is truly a magical place. Disney World Resort was first envisioned by Walt Disney in the
early 1960 s. Walt wanted to make a place that would give people a chance to experience unique
entertainment. This place was called Disneyland and was located in California. Almost three years
later, the Disney planning team decided to make Disney World in Orlando,Floridabecause of the
year round summers and it was ranked first in tourist attraction. Construction started in April
1969 and planned to finish on October 1, 1971. Nine thousand workers worked on Disney World
for the two years it was in construction. Finally on the special day Disney World was opened with
around 10,000 people there to celebrate. Today Disney World consists of four different
kingdoms and lives up to its expectations of making dreams come true. Transportation between
kingdoms and to Disney World is very efficient. Buses, trams, ferries, and a monorail are
provided for people. You also don t have to wait very long for transportation at the stations. A
downside to transportation is, since Disney World has people from all over the world, it can be
very crowded in the stations. For example, in the monorail there are limited seats and you are most

The type of day handbag should you cause the next big vacation? You do not want to haul around

Multiculturalism In The Brady Bunch And Modern Families
What is Multiculturalism? Multiculturalism is the presence of distinct cultural or ethnic groups
within a society. Multiculturalism plays a big part in teenagers as well as adults life s. For example
the two tv shows The Brady Bunch and Modern Family have different cultural lenses and cultures
causing them to view multiculturalismas well as diversity in different perspectives.
The Brady Bunch is a show that came about in the late 60 s. The Brady Bunch is about a man
named Brady with three sons meets a woman named Carol with three children of her own. This
man and woman get married making them one big happy family, with a maid to help out. Living in
a four bedroom two bath house in the suburbs, having boy problems and sharing bathrooms. The
Brady Bunch family culture is having a maid to take care of the children. This can be a culture that
the parents received when they were younger, passing it onto their children. Another culture that
The Brady Bunch have is being close to one another. For example if one of the children are
dealing with a situation they would talk to their parent s or a sibling about it. The Brady Bunch
family don t hide their situations. They can also be labeled as close because they eat dinner
together at the table like the typical white american family. Another culture that The Brady Bunch
have is having consequences for their actions. For example in one of the episodes the oldest son

Essay on Opposition to Immigration in 19th and 20th...
Immigration in 19th and 20th Century America During the late nineteenth and early twentieth
centuries, many American nativist groups opposed free unrestricted immigration. Although racism
is a main reason, there were many others. Economic, political, social and moral standards seemed to
be threatened by these newcomers. The immigrants were unfamiliar of the language and customs
that we take for granted in our everyday lives. The fear that gripped the nation was why people
reacted so strongly against immigrants. The people feared change might distort the course of our

an election. From intimidation at the polls, ballot frauds, vote purchases, and saloon influence. Also
the support of the vicious and criminal. This is clearly a stretch on the reality of the situation. He
contradicts himself at the end by saying its root is the simple minded foreigner . With all this
criminal masterminding to change an election outcome, its foundation are immigrants who do not
completely understand our political system. Thats fails to make any sense to me whatsoever. Most
immigrants wanted a better future for their families and that was all. Social changes played a huge
role in the nativist campaign against immigrants. Many changes were occurring in our social

Critical Cuistice Analysis, The Study Of Language
According to Hugh Trappes Lomax (2004), discourse analysis is the study of language that is
viewed communicatively or the study of communication that is viewed linguistically. Under the
discourse analysis, the analysts analyse the concepts of language in use, the language above or
beyond the sentence, language as meaning in interaction, and language in situational and cultural
context . By carrying out the discourse analysis, the analysts seek to explore the relation that exists
between the various elements that are present in the situation; such as the participants of the
conversation, the cultural backgrounds of the participants, the relationship between the participants,
the setting of the conversation/discourse, the situation and the linguistic choices that are made in
the process of the discourse (Dijk, 1995). Though discourse analysis cannot be tied down to a
single definition, some of the most prominent ones are as follows;
The linguistic, cognitive and social processes whereby meanings are expressed and intentions
interpreted in human interaction (Jaworski, 1999)

Hall (1996) describes critical discourse analysis as;
Critical discourse analysis begins from the assumption that systematic asymmetries of power and
resources between speakers and listeners, readers and writers can be linked to their unequal access
to linguistic and social resources. In this way, the presupposition of critical discourse analysis is
that institutions like schools act as gatekeepers of mastery of discursive resources: the discourses,
texts, genres, lexical and grammatical structures of everyday language

Diagnostic Medical Sonography Analysis
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) is a technical branch of the medical field. It is a big part
of the medical field. It is used to check the inside of humans and to check on babies. The pay for
a sonography is a little above average I think it would suite me well. The schooling time for the
field is a short amount of time for the medical field. (SDMyLife) Full time sonographers usually
receive benefits like vacation and sick days. They also have somewhat of a flexible schedule to
work with. The median annual income for most workers is around $60,000. The highest paying
salaries are earned by experience workers have. They can earn anywhere from $44,000 to $86,000 a
year. I have wondered about the medical career all of my life, but recently

The Evolution of Anticruelty Laws
Soon, many groups were concerned about how animals were being treated. Anticruelty laws were
first passed in Great Britain. The United States quickly followed, responding to the animal welfare
groups; insisting that the government needed to act to prevent unnecessary cruelty to animals
(Judson 20). This movement grew rapidly across the United States. In 1829, New York passed the
first anticruelty law prohibiting the malicious injuring or killing or farm animals such as horses,
oxen, cattle or sheep. By 1907, every single American state had passed anticruelty acts. By 1923,
most states prohibited the practice of neglecting and abandonment, cockfighting, and some types of
hunting methods of animals (Judson 21). Throughout the 1800s, animal welfaregroups in Great
Britain and the United States pushed for their governments to pass laws to protect animals from
methods such as slaughter and animal experimentation. In 1824, welfare groups in London were
already being formed. The first society was formed, called the Royal Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals(Guither 2). Later, in 1835, public policy was passed in Great Britain to
consolidate and amend the several laws relation to the cruelty and improper treatment of animals
(Guither 2). Decades later, in 1911, Parliament passed the Protection of Animals Acts, which is still
n effect today. Harold D. Guither, author of the book Animal Rights: History and Scope of a
Radical Social Movement, describes this act, station

Professional Poker Player-Personal Narrative
As I walked into the smoke filled room, a steady mixture of anxiousness and excitement ran
through my body at a vividly momentous pace. It is not every day an 18 year old kid is able to go
to the nearest casino and go play poker. My family was visiting my grandparents in Oklahoma, and
as luck would have it, the legal gambling age in Oklahoma is 18 years. I have been playing poker
steadily throughout the course of my life to this point at small home games and online
tournaments, and prior to this day the only aspirations I had in my body was to become a well
known professional poker player. But nothing would equal the thrill of taking down a monster pot
in an actual casino, or so I thought. About fifteen minutes after signing up for a seat... Show more

If you ve ever been into poker or even watched the World Series of Poker on ESPN, you ll see
what I mean. Here are just a few observations I ve made...some obvious, some (hopefully) not.
Mind games are a big part of the game. In poker, you can learn all about the strength of hands,
pot odds, betting position, and how to play it by the book. In Street Fighter 4, you can analyze
frame data, learn combos, find rankings/tier listings, and watch replays. But in the end, it
comes down to playing the man. It s about making the other guy fold when he has you beat, or
giving him a false sense of confidence when really, he s walking into certain defeat. It s about
giving your opponent the impression that his strategy is full proof, only to punish him painfully
at the most (in)opportune time. It s all about being unpredictable and rattling the other guy to
the point where all his pre game knowledge seems to go out the window. Heck, Justin Wong
almost beat Daigo while playing a character he admittedly didn t know very well or practice
much. I doubt he was thinking about frame data while he was missing combos, but still giving
Daigo all he could handle. The head knowledge definitely comes in handy, don t get me wrong. I
m just saying it s about how you actually use what you know. Luck is required to make it through.
Back in the day before poker got huge which I

Winston Churchill As An Important Politician And War Hero...
Aidan O Brien
As Winston Churchill once said, To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often and he
did just that. Winston Churchill lived in a time where change was necessary in society. The world
itself was evolving. He helped shape the outcomes of many events in his lifetime including two
major world wars and government struggles across his England. Churchill devoted his life to
making the world a stronger and better place. Winston Churchill played a crucial role in influencing
history.
Winston Churchill was destined to be an important politician and war hero from a young age. He
was born November 30, 1874 in Woodstock England into a very prominent family. He was the
eldest son of Lord Randolph Churchill. His mother was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The events in his early life and his very minor career in politics were a jumping off point for his
very influential career.
Winston Churchill started his long line of influential actions during World War I. He first served
on the frontlines in France during the war. He was a major with the 2nd battalion of the
Grenadier Guards. After this, he became the commander of the 6th Royal Scots Fusiliers, a
battalion of the 9th division. As both a major and a commander Churchill proved to be a born
leader. He was hailed as a hero and took advantage of his status ( Sir Winston Churchill: A
Biography Churchill College ). He himself may not have changed the war as a soldier but his time
as a leader led him to the appointment as the first lord of admiralty in 1912.
As the first lord of admiralty in 1912, Churchill made many impacts to World War I. Being the
lord of admiralty meant he was in charge of Britain s royal navy. It was here he made many
reforms that Britain still use today including the switch from coal burning ships to fuel burning
ships. He knew he needed to improve Britain s navy after an early recognition of Germany s
naval power. After seeing this, he helped to set up a naval air service. The purpose of the naval air
service was to give warning of approaching ships, that way the could defend better with the
information that they had been given. At the start of World War I the Royal Naval Air

This past weekend witnessed a trifecta of momentous anniversaries. Katrina happened 5 years ago,
Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his I Have a Dream Speech on the Washington Mall 47 years
ago, and Mother Teresawas born a century ago.
Monday: Katrina; Tuesday: I Have a Dream; Today: Mother Teresa
After spending a great deal of time on and devoting a good deal of space to the two previous
subjects in this series on recent anniversaries, 2005 s devastating Hurricane Katrina and the world
changing 1963 I Have a Dream speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I had looked forward to
writing an innocuous, little piece on one of the two saints I have ever known.
Pope John Paul II was one, Mother Teresa was the other.
Not that I personally met with either the pope or the Catholic nun Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, later to
be known as Mother Teresa, but I felt that a few words commemorating the anniversary of her birth
in Shkoder, Albania on August 26th, 1910 were in order.
Agnes middle name, Gonxha, meaning Rosebud, may be somewhat difficult to pronounce in
English but this

Obesity Is A Disease Characterized By Excessive Body Fat
Obesity is a disease characterized by excessive body fat. People who are medically obese usually
are affected by behavior, genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control with dieting.
Obesity increases the likelihood of certain diseases especially cardiovascular disorders and
diabetes. Obesity has become a pandemic nowadays. In the Indian scenario, even with the growing
awareness about health and fitness, more than 3 percent (3 crores) of the Indian population is obese.
Our study aims to determine the association of BMIwith cardiac output, forearm and calf blood flow
in healthy young male adults. Our results are consistent with our hypothesis.
Cardiac output was found to be significantly more in obese subjects compared to overweight and
normal BMI group. Similar results were found in other studies too. Obese individuals have
expanded central blood volume. In addition, stroke volume and cardiac output are both increased.
These changes in blood volume and cardiac output are most likely due to the increased metabolic
demand that result from increases in both lean and fat mass. The large fat depots in significant
obesity produce a low resistance vascular circuit that may further increase cardiac output. There
may also be changes in renal absorption of salt and water. The combination of these factors is
proposed to produce a form of volume overload which can give rise to high output failure later.

Another study revealed that obese patients demonstrated

Christ King Mission Church
Culture is defined as the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded
collectively. Throughout time, many different cultures have come into existence worldwide. They
are often forgotten, preserved, or spread depending on those who carry it with them. It is vital that
people conserve the different cultures because they are essential in remembering our past as the
human race. One very important aspect of cultureis that of religion. Religion has shaped the course
of history from as early as 50,000 years ago. When given the opportunity to experience one of these
unique religions first hand, I immediately chose Catholicism due to the fact that I have always been
curious of their traditions and rituals. During my visit to Christ King Mission Church, I learned that
the Catholic sanctuary actually looks similar to that of many Baptist churches, has a very formal
liturgy, and shows more respect to other biblical characters than most other churches. To begin,...

This explained the sculptures that I saw in the sanctuary of Mary and St. Joseph. They believe
in showing the saints honor, respect, and praying with them. The congregation of believers did
not worship the saints, but they did have an obvious respect for them. St. Joseph, the Virgin
Mary, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Patrick, and St. Francis of Assisi are a few examples of
widely recognized saints. There are both male and female saints as well as young and old. Some
are actually associated with certain life events and elements. For instance if you wanted to pray
about help for an addiction, St. Maximillian Mary Kolbe would be a favorable choice. I
personally have never prayed to any of these but found the concept to be quite interesting. It seems
many other people do too, and there is even some controversy on its

Essay on media avoidance
In my everyday life I use all sorts of media, they range from cable television, Internet, radio, and
the newspaper. For myself media, is the form and technology I use to receive and communicate
information. The different forms of media I was trying to avoid were cable television, the
internet and radio. I figured if I could avoid those things I would be doing well in avoiding most
obvious forms of mass media. What I realized as I began this whole experience this whole
experience is that the mass media is an important if not the most important part of my everyday
life. I use it for almost everything I do and it surrounds me.
On my first day of avoiding the media, which was on a Saturday, my plan going into was not check

The only thing that I could think to do was go and rent a movie. So that s what I did and it worked
beautifully, I watched the movie Man on Fire with Denzel Washington (it is actually a very
good movie). When I finished watching that my roommates insisted on watching MTV (music
television if you didn t know). I did catch a glimpse of that was happening in the world of music
(oops). Realizing that I was straying I decided to go and get another movie from the video store.
I got the movie The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise and watched it, which killed another couple
of hours out of my day of avoiding media. So finally it was 7pm and I had been fairly successful
in avoiding most media and I only had a couple of hours till I could go out to the bars with my
friends and then go to bed. For those last couple of house I decided to spin some records to kill
time. It s the only other thing that I do that does require me to access other forms of mass media. I
fortunately made it through my day and out to the bars, I then came home and went to bed.
On my second day, which on a weekday, I had a slightly easier day of avoiding media due to the
fact that I had to work all day. So I woke up at 7am and checked my e mail out of habit. Shortly
after doing that I realized that I was not supposed to do that (oops). Got to work at 8am and started
my day. It was pretty easy to avoid media all I had

Essay on Psychodnamic Theory
Ian Curtis was 23 years old when he hung himself in his home in Macclesfield, England. The
events that led to the singers death should have been warning signs of his plans, but his
personality kept him from receiving the help he desperately needed. Born on July 15th, 1956 in
Manchester, England Ian had a considerably normal childhood to follow. He had one little sister
and his working class family were very tightnit with other family members as well as each other.
(Curtis 1995)Ian was a cheerful child who loved to read and socialize with the neighborhood boys.
During his teenage years he became melancholy and wrote poetry that directly resembled his
mood. He spoke of human suffering and hopelessness. He also began abusing drugs and had... Show

At first his wife thought it was a strange coincidence, but quickly dismissed it as that once the
severity of the illness took hold. (Curtis 1995) Ian was put on several anti seizure medications and
his mood worsened after this and his work in Joy Division was greatly impaired. He began an
affair with a Belgian journalist Annik Honore and the stress of carrying on both relationships
caused his depression to spiral and he made his first suicide attempt with notes concerning his two
relationships. He took too many of his seizure medications and was released with no talk of
aftercare or psychological treatment of any kind. Eleven months later he succeeded and it was his
wife who noticed the signs and begged him to get help. Ian s friends with whom he stayed his last
weeks with stated that Ian would not leave bed all day and would engage in violent arguments with
them.. He left there to try and save his marriage and following another violent outburst towards his
wife he hung himself after she left him alone in their Maccelsfield home. Biologically, theorists
would want to look at Ian Curtis family history with depression and whether or not his disorder
came from a genetic predisposition or possibly a result of his seizure disorder. Biological theorists
view abnormal behavior as an illness brought about by malfunctioning parts of the organism.
(Comer 2011) Scientifically this theory could explain several physiological reasons why Ian
behaved the way he did, as

Comparison Between Health And Pakistan Essay
Comparison of Health Policy in Bangladesh and Pakistan
Introduction:
Health is declared as a basic human right by the universal declaration of human rights in 1948,
stating that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being
of oneself and one s family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care. Endowment of
health is a fundamental good and a moral issue because it provides opportunity to pursue life
goals, reduces pain and suffering, prevents premature loss of life, and provides information needed
to plan lives (Jacobson and Mathur, 2010). However, it is not later than three decades ago that
health is placed high on international agenda. This international agenda has strongly passed on into
almost all countries after the report of the Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, that
investing in health leads to economic development. This reports emphasized health as a resource
for everyday life and as driver of economy of nation (WHO, 2001).
What is a Health Policy?
Health policy can be formally defined as the broad statement of goals, objectives and means that
create the framework for activity. It includes what governments decide to do or not to do. (Buse et
al., 2005). Health policies are expected to offer methods and opportunities to develop collaboration
among different sectors, organizations and people to attain a common goal of promoting health
(WHO, 1986, Byrant, 2002). The main intent of health policies is to

  • 2. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In Schools When it comes to cultural diversity in schools, a lot of issues have the potential to come up. Currently, I feel that I am somewhat competent of the cultural diversity that exists in the world, but I have a lot more to learn. Some important things to consider when working with diverse populations are the morals and values that specific cultures hold and how they differ from what I know and live by. Becoming more aware of other cultures will help me be able to work with everyone no matter what culturethey identify with. One thing that I think students will benefit from in schools is having a group to identify with whether is may be a culturally diverse group of people from many different places or a group solely for a specific culture. With these groups, we can help educate all students in the school to help them become more aware of their peers and help create a healthier and more accepting environment. Section 2: Personal Application of Theory: Learning about all of the different theories that contribute to the field of counseling has not only taught me a lot about the profession, but it has taught me a lot about myself personally. I strongly feel that I have learned so much about myself that I never knew before through learning about theories and potential interventions to use with my future students. Reflecting back upon the content, I have found that the theories that I identify with the most are ones that I think would benefit me the most or that I know have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bambui, a village located in the North West Region of Central Africa s Cameroon contains a small portion of Cameroon s total population of 22.25 million people. Bambui, with a population of 50,000 people and its poor standard of living proves to be an obstacle. Due to the lack of infrastructure and urban planning of the markets which provide the village with much needed income, Engineers without Borders aims to improve the area by addressing these current problems with solutions. 2.0 PROBLEM DEFINITION The market of Bambui is one of the largest and most important aspects of the region, providing a source of income to the local community as well as the surrounding population who sell clothes, shoes and raw foods as well as food stalls and restaurants. The pollution identified throughout the markets comes mainly from the inability for them to dispose of waste properly due to lack of transportation in and out of the market, and also the sprawl of stalls. The accessibility of owners and locals through the market comes as a struggle and therefore require a plan in which would assist owners to receive their transported goods and also dispose of waste that was not sold throughout the day. The pollution affects both the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suleiman s new alliance with Francis would serve beneficial to him in these future battles, by having the French for support. The information that Suleiman and Francis had become allies, sent Europe in to an uproar. For Francis to form an alliance with the Muslims was irreligious. But, Francis did not question his alliance with Suleiman, he needed the ally in the war against Charles. Suleiman, as well, would need the backing of Francis, not immediately, but in future battles. Roxelana (the Russian woman), nicknamed Hurrem (the merry one), was given to Suleiman as a gift early in his reign, by his Grand Vizier, Ibrahim. Before Roxelana, the Ottomans followed a one concubine one rule tradition. When she first arrived at the palace she attacked the chief sultana at the time Gulbahar, tearing her hair out and scratching her face so that she could not appear as beauty in front of Suleiman no more. With her successful ploy to rid the palace of the chief sultana, she now had the full attention of Suleiman for herself. As time passed Suleiman became more infatuated with Roxelana and she now wanted to bring the now separate Harem, or house of the concubines, together under one roof. She found her window of opportunity when a fire destroyed the Old Seraglio and requested to move into the new palace with Suleiman, Suleiman welcomed the idea. Suleiman became extremely intimate and attached to her to this point and decided upon marriage with her. SAY SOME SHIT ABOUT HIS POEM TO HER. Analyze The Values Of American Society The following paper with analyze the values of American society and prove there are more disadvantages than advantages to a high degree of agreement on these values. A large amount of agreement on most of the values considered American could be detrimental to the country and as an international power. In lesser amounts, these values can push a nation forward economically. however, at the scale America utilizes these values, resources are wasted, foreign relations are strained, and many within the country are left struggling. Capitalism is moral and practical as it leaves the individual free to think rationally and act productively to sustain one s life and experience happiness on earth. In macroeconomic terms, capitalism is the best system available and the system America has always used. However, some of them are starting to get frustrated with how much time it takes to prepare a good meal. Here are three great tips to make cooking faster, easier, and more enjoyable. Cooking Tip #1: Make One Trip to the Trashcan Running back and forth to the trashcan is aggravating (as well as inefficient). You can make only one trip by lining a colander, sink strainer, small trash can, or other wide mouthed receptacle with a plastic shopping bag and keeping it next to your cutting board. If your cutting board happens to be right next to the sink, place the lined receptacle in the basin. Otherwise place the receptacle at your feet (but be careful not to trip over it). Toss... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Limiting the use of our utilities is not only beneficial to our budget but also to the environment as well. Here are several useful and lesser known tips in conserving energy while you are in the kitchen. While being in the kitchen, the stove is one of the main items that will use up the most energy, so it is important to be wise with your energy consumption when cookingon it. Adjust the burners when using a gas based cooking top so that the flames just barely touch or are a tad lower than the bottom of the pans you are cooking on. Flames that curl around a pan waste more energy. However, if you are using an electric cook top, put the pan on a coil that is similar in size. Place the pan so that its bottom lies absolutely flat on the burner. This will conserve a great deal of energy. Also, when using an electric stove, set the burners on high first and then proceed to lower it to finish the cooking. For dishes that aren t pans, turn off the burner completely at the end as the element will hold the heat for several minutes. In addition to your stoves, the oven vent on an electrical range can be very useful. If you are using an oven vent on an electrical range, you will find that the vent is under one of the burners. While the oven is in use, you will be able to feel the hot air flowing through the vent. For dishes that you would like to warm, set them on that burner. This will minimize the use of a microwave and will also optimize the use of your burners. Now, for dishes that need to cook for long periods of time, particularly over an hour, there is no need to preheat your oven (unless you are cooking a turkey that needs a crisp skin). For dishes that must be cooked just under an hour, extend the cooking time for a little bit. The only preheating that is required is for dishes that have a short baking time. The purpose of the experiment was to study how far people would go in obeying an instruction from an authority figure if it involved hurting another person. Milgram wanted to study whether Germans were more obedient to authority as this was what people believed was the main reason for Nazi killings in World War II. 40 males were chosen to participate in the study, and were paid $4.50 for attending. The experiment was carried out as follows: participants were introduced to a partner, although they were all actors the pairs drew straws to see who was going to be acting as a learner, and who would be acting as a teacher. This part of the experiment was rigged so the unknowing participants would always be the teacher the pairs were split up into seperate rooms where the learner was strapped to an electric chair the learner has already learned a list of word pairs that were given to him, and the teacher tests them by naming a word and asking the learner to recall its pair. the teacher was told to give an electric shock every time the learned made a mistake. There was a different voltage of shock each time, ranging from 15 to 450 volts. The teacher did not know, but the shocks were not actually administered. The learner made mistakes on purpose, and faked harm when they were electrocuted . If the teacher did not want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the beginning of my dream to go to college and to pursue a higher education.I had so many emotions running trough me , it was the first time being in this level and the first time paying for education myself. I always wanted to be a college student, a serious student who would decide what to be in her life. The first day at Truman College was on August 25th, 2005. The first year of my freshman year and Fall semester. That day I had so many things on my mind, from what I was going to wear to figure out where the class number and the floor it would be located at. It was actually a day full of new experiences. In addition, I thought it was a good idea to use laptops in class since I owed one at home, and I was able to relate with the purpose of the class. For instance, I could enter an electronic group forum from home, so we were able to share ideas an opinions without being in the classroom. Also, I found very handy to be able to send my homework electronically to my teacher. • 17. Reflection About Failure The fundamental foundations of our personality and the lifestyle we live is grounded in our failures of the past, present, and future. We base our decisions in the experiences of the past and those choices lead to our future. The lessons we learn in our failure are what make us grow as people and become better versions of ourselves. I personally have tasted the bitterness of failure many times, it is only after you are out of the pain or embarrassment you can realize that what you went though was not a completely awful ordeal. Through my many graceful highlights I have learned to not make the same mistakes and I have become smarter. There is no such thing as the perfect human being, we are born imperfect and made to make mistakes. It is how we learn to overcome and grow out of hardships. The most deadly failure is the one that does not allow us to experience defeat, it is the failure to take action. If we are too afraid to put ourselves out there and experience new things or be vulnerable we will never experience the full extent of life or what it means to be alive, human even. When we hesitate because we are afraid of rejection, humiliation, pain, or the fear of failure, we are cutting ourselves short of our true potential. We learn from a young age that failure equals shame and discomfort through life experiences but we rarely remember that it is the experience of that failure that allows us to mature. As an artist, failure is something commonly struggled with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Environment And Human Environment Ecosystems is the dynamic complex of plant, animal and micro organism communities and their non living environment that work together to form a functional unit and they are constantly changing due to the fluctuating equilibrium from natural stress and human action which has had adversarial impacts on ecosystems. This is evident in Minnamurra rainforest as human induced modifications and environmental stresses had resulted in a vulnerable ecosystem. Furthermore, the removal of factors that contribute to the vulnerability of an ecosystem is important as it affect the functioning of the ecosystem as processes are accelerated, biodiversityis decreased which greatly affects humans. Despite the negative effects caused by humans, they have discovered that ecosystems are susceptible from harm caused by natural environmental factors or human impacts and realised the importance of protecting and managing ecosystems therefore have implemented management strategies that are supposed to prevent further detriment and as a consequence may induce resiliency. Within Minnamurra rainforest all biophysical components rely on each other, for example changes to the lithosphere (gaseous elements surrounding the earth), can cause stress to the flora and fauna within the ecosystem and impact other abiotic factors. Human interaction has also caused many detrimental impacts on the ecosystem through changes in lithospheric processes. For instance littering can bring unwanted diseases that can affect ... • 20. Characteristics Of An Entity The Brain Relies On The... In life humans face many complex experiences and situations and we need to break these down into simpler more meaningful components so we can make sense of them and what they represent or mean, we do this by categorising them into groupings of similar features (van Mechelen, 1993). To be able to identify or recognise an entity the brain relies on the memory to be able to remember every single item encountered in a lifetime is difficult so categorisation is used to simplify this process. An exemplar is a specific item of a category and a prototype is the typical representation of a category (Burton, 2015). There is evidence that some organisms including humans are born with an innate knowledge of some categories, but most categories are learnt during early development stages and built upon as development continues into adulthood, refined and updated with experience (Barsalou, 2014). Some exemplars have more features in common to the category definition and are easier to place in a category compared to others that have less features of the category, e.g. if birdis the category its general common features are wings, small, lays eggs, and feathers then sparrows have all of these features and are easily fitted into the category where an emu has less of these features taking longer to be placed (Barsalou, 2014). Category norms are tabulations of sets of exemplars of categories, (Casey, P. J., Heath, 1988), these lists then provide lists of items that fall under each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The trucking industry has been a leading factor in moving goods since the 1900 s. Without it, the United States will die in a minimum of 3 days. As for my thoughts on the matter, I believe the government needs to start deregulating this industry. Many veteran drivers are in their retirement years and we will need an influx of new drivers to take the helm. But unfortunately, many of these new drivers are leaving the industry because they cannot handle the pressure put on them by the government. In his lessons, Morrie advises Mitch to reject the popular culture in favor of creating his own. The individualistic culture Morrie encourages Mitch to create for him is a culture founded on love, acceptance, and human goodness, a culture that upholds a set of ethical values unlike the mores that popular culture endorses. Popular culture, Morrie says, is founded on greed, selfishness, and superficiality, which he urges Mitch to overcome. Morrie also stresses that he and Mitch must accept death and aging, as both are inevitable. A symbol that represents Morrie s life throughout the book is the pink hibiscus plant. Reflective Paper On Moral Responsibility Reflective Paper Regarding Moral Responsibility of Rehabilitating Criminals Dalia M Al Rubaye Parkdale High School Abstract This paper is generally about the correlation between moral responsibility and rehabilitation. Moral responsibility was examined in the context of criminals and ordinary people. What brings about a crime, and what impels an individuals to commit an action that he realizes is wrong. Also, the concept of rehabilitation and the way in which it is applied were examined to deliver a better understanding of issues regarding criminals. Examining these concepts was the key used to depict the moral responsibility, that s innate in people, and how it should be considered in rehabilitating criminals. Key words: Morality, self respect, conscience, rehabilitation Moral Responsibility of Rehabilitating Criminals I am a person with very little knowledge regarding criminology. Luckily, I ve acquired some knowledge from being a girl who loves to read about philosophy. Linking between the morals I ve learned as a religious person and the theories about the innate format of a human being presented by philosophers, I was able to initiate my thinking process and organize my ideas. Chemistry And Chemical Testing In Chemistry Priya Talwar Chemistry 1411 008, (Group 06 Partners: Esther, Bethany, Sophia) 19 October, 2017 CSI: How to identify an unknown white powder Jiayue Sun Introduction The Identity of a chemical compound is extremely critical to observe. The identity can lead to discovering its properties and can aid in its classification. Thus scientist all around the world put high emphasis on the procedure to identify a compound through the flame test and chemical testing. Flame test works to identify the cation within the compound, while chemical testing using certain compounds and acid identifies the anion. Flame test uses the differences of energy levels of an element. When the flame, from the micro burner used, excites the electrons in their ground state, the electrons absorb the energy and move to a higher energy level. Yet since the ground state is preferred, the electrons tend to move down the energy level and emit the extra energy absorbed. This type of energy is emitted through photon and wavelength, a characteristic of light. Thus, each element emits a certain type light which can be used to identify it by consulting a chart with all the documented flame test results. In Particular for this experiment, the test for ammonia and Magnesium is conducted with the addition of sodium hydroxide and the observing for the presence of the odor of ammonia for ammonia or precipitate for magnesium. The chemical testing uses compounds including acids and alkaline to combine with the element. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When experiences expose serious anomalies (in the sense that Thomas Kuhn, 1962, used the term) in policy core beliefs, these beliefs may be susceptible to change. NICKENS IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COMPLETION OF THE COURSE CHHI 301_D01 BY DANIEL BAILEY LAFOLLETTE, TN NOVEMBER 2012 ABSTRACT Perhaps the greatest achievement to come from early church history is the establishment of a universal New Testament Canon. While we may not put much thought into it today, which books should be included or excluded from the New Testament was once the center of much controversy. It took the church many years to settle upon the current collection of books as being the proper Canon, making it more of a process than an event. Ironically enough, the need for a universal Canon was only realized after many disputes over the version suggest by the Christian heretic Marcion. Marcion s collection of books were revised by Athanasius and later endorsed by the church through councils. Once the New Testament Canon was established, all other suggested books became part of a collection known as the Apocrypha and their use dismissed by the church. THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON During the early history of the church, there was no such thing as a New Testament canon. • 40. Essay on Opposition to Immigration in 19th and 20th... Immigration in 19th and 20th Century America During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, many American nativist groups opposed free unrestricted immigration. Although racism is a main reason, there were many others. Economic, political, social and moral standards seemed to be threatened by these newcomers. The immigrants were unfamiliar of the language and customs that we take for granted in our everyday lives. The fear that gripped the nation was why people reacted so strongly against immigrants. The people feared change might distort the course of our prospering country. We did not want to become what those immigrants were fleeing. This was not a single view, but a reflection of how the entire nativist nation felt. Many political changes were also being made during this abstract time period. Immigrants were new to our elaborate and tangled web of politics. In fact many nativist Americans didn t understand our political system all to well. Many people had the conception that immigrants were too half witted to follow American politics. After all they were not even born here. Immigrants tended to vote in blocks together. In document 7, according to magazine writer, E.A. Ross thought that foreigners were underhanded and corrupt. They polluted everything good about our pure and honest political system. Ross gives a clear exaggeration on how the foreigners managed to change the outcome of an election. From intimidation at the polls, ballot frauds, vote purchases, and saloon influence. Also the support of the vicious and criminal. This is clearly a stretch on the reality of the situation. He contradicts himself at the end by saying its root is the simple minded foreigner . With all this criminal masterminding to change an election outcome, its foundation are immigrants who do not completely understand our political system. Thats fails to make any sense to me whatsoever. Most immigrants wanted a better future for their families and that was all. • 41. Critical Cuistice Analysis, The Study Of Language According to Hugh Trappes Lomax (2004), discourse analysis is the study of language that is viewed communicatively or the study of communication that is viewed linguistically. Under the discourse analysis, the analysts analyse the concepts of language in use, the language above or beyond the sentence, language as meaning in interaction, and language in situational and cultural context . By carrying out the discourse analysis, the analysts seek to explore the relation that exists between the various elements that are present in the situation; such as the participants of the conversation, the cultural backgrounds of the participants, the relationship between the participants, the setting of the conversation/discourse, the situation and the linguistic choices that are made in the process of the discourse (Dijk, 1995). • 43. The Evolution of Anticruelty Laws Soon, many groups were concerned about how animals were being treated. Anticruelty laws were first passed in Great Britain. The United States quickly followed, responding to the animal welfare groups; insisting that the government needed to act to prevent unnecessary cruelty to animals (Judson 20). This movement grew rapidly across the United States. In 1829, New York passed the first anticruelty law prohibiting the malicious injuring or killing or farm animals such as horses, oxen, cattle or sheep. By 1907, every single American state had passed anticruelty acts. By 1923, most states prohibited the practice of neglecting and abandonment, cockfighting, and some types of hunting methods of animals (Judson 21). Throughout the 1800s, animal welfaregroups in Great Britain and the United States pushed for their governments to pass laws to protect animals from methods such as slaughter and animal experimentation. In 1824, welfare groups in London were already being formed. The first society was formed, called the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals(Guither 2). Later, in 1835, public policy was passed in Great Britain to consolidate and amend the several laws relation to the cruelty and improper treatment of animals (Guither 2). Decades later, in 1911, Parliament passed the Protection of Animals Acts, which is still n effect today. Harold D. It is not every day an 18 year old kid is able to go to the nearest casino and go play poker. My family was visiting my grandparents in Oklahoma, and as luck would have it, the legal gambling age in Oklahoma is 18 years. I have been playing poker steadily throughout the course of my life to this point at small home games and online tournaments, and prior to this day the only aspirations I had in my body was to become a well known professional poker player. If you ve ever been into poker or even watched the World Series of Poker on ESPN, you ll see what I mean. Here are just a few observations I ve made...some obvious, some (hopefully) not. Mind games are a big part of the game. In poker, you can learn all about the strength of hands, pot odds, betting position, and how to play it by the book. In Street Fighter 4, you can analyze frame data, learn combos, find rankings/tier listings, and watch replays. But in the end, it comes down to playing the man. It s about making the other guy fold when he has you beat, or giving him a false sense of confidence when really, he s walking into certain defeat. It s about giving your opponent the impression that his strategy is full proof, only to punish him painfully at the most (in)opportune time. It s all about being unpredictable and rattling the other guy to the point where all his pre game knowledge seems to go out the window. Heck, Justin Wong almost beat Daigo while playing a character he admittedly didn t know very well or practice much. I doubt he was thinking about frame data while he was missing combos, but still giving Daigo all he could handle. The head knowledge definitely comes in handy, don t get me wrong. • 47. Obesity Is A Disease Characterized By Excessive Body Fat Obesity is a disease characterized by excessive body fat. People who are medically obese usually are affected by behavior, genetic and environmental factors that are difficult to control with dieting. Obesity increases the likelihood of certain diseases especially cardiovascular disorders and diabetes. Obesity has become a pandemic nowadays. In the Indian scenario, even with the growing awareness about health and fitness, more than 3 percent (3 crores) of the Indian population is obese. Our study aims to determine the association of BMIwith cardiac output, forearm and calf blood flow in healthy young male adults. Our results are consistent with our hypothesis. Cardiac output was found to be significantly more in obese subjects compared to overweight and normal BMI group. Similar results were found in other studies too. Obese individuals have expanded central blood volume. In addition, stroke volume and cardiac output are both increased. These changes in blood volume and cardiac output are most likely due to the increased metabolic demand that result from increases in both lean and fat mass. The large fat depots in significant obesity produce a low resistance vascular circuit that may further increase cardiac output. There may also be changes in renal absorption of salt and water. The combination of these factors is proposed to produce a form of volume overload which can give rise to high output failure later. • 51. Comparison Between Health And Pakistan Essay Comparison of Health Policy in Bangladesh and Pakistan Introduction: Health is declared as a basic human right by the universal declaration of human rights in 1948, stating that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of oneself and one s family, including food, clothing, housing, and medical care. Endowment of health is a fundamental good and a moral issue because it provides opportunity to pursue life goals, reduces pain and suffering, prevents premature loss of life, and provides information needed to plan lives (Jacobson and Mathur, 2010). However, it is not later than three decades ago that health is placed high on international agenda. This international agenda has strongly passed on into almost all countries after the report of the Commission on Macroeconomics and Health, that investing in health leads to economic development. This reports emphasized health as a resource for everyday life and as driver of economy of nation (WHO, 2001). What is a Health Policy? Health policy can be formally defined as the broad statement of goals, objectives and means that create the framework for activity. It includes what governments decide to do or not to do.
