Assess The Importance Of Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates:
It is recommended that at least 50 60% of your daily calorie intake comes from carbohydrates.
This about 4 5kg of carbohydrates per kilogram of body weight for the average person. This would
be more depending on the amount of exercise that each person does.
Carbohydrates are either starches or sugars. Starchy foods, especially those that are unrefined
such as whole grain bread, rice, pasta, cereals and potatoes, provide a steady supply of energy.
However, these foods can be filling. To achieve optimal carbohydratestores, the sportsperson may
need to top up with sugary sources that are more rapidly absorbed like sweets, dried fruit, fruit
juice, and sugary or sports drinks. Fats:
Fats provide a good and concentrated source of energy and it the most predominant fuel for low
intensity activity. If you eat less fat you can eat more carbohydrates. A typical UK diet consists of
40% the total calorie intake being from fats. However it is recommended that this fat intake is kept
between 30 35%. And also for those who are taking part in regular exercise they must low this
further. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sources of protein may come from meat, fish, eggs and dairy products. Large amounts of protein
will not improve performance or muscle mass. That can only be achieved with the appropriate and
specific training.
Normal protein requirements are in the region of 0.75 g per kilogram of body weight per day. The
average UK diet significantly exceeds the Dietary Reference Value nutrient intake for protein set at
45 g per day for a female and 55.5 g per day for a male.
It is recommended by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the protein intake should be
intake of 1.2 1.7 g per kilogram body weight per day. This is what is recommended for Olympic
athletes undergoing intensive training

The Water Treatment Process
Surface waters necessitate water treatment before consumption to eliminate the risk present to the
consumer. Poor quality water which consists of suspended and dissolved particles pose health risks.
The most harmful contamination is the microbiological contamination which leads to infectious
diseases (Water treatment, 1994).Since the early 1800 s water purification systems have been used
to eliminate the health risk posed by the recycled water. During the final process of treatment
alternate disinfectants are used, however UV radiation and chlorination are predominantly
employed techniques. UV radiation emitted by the sun was discovered to have germicidal effects
on pathogens and micro organisms present water. From this discovery came the introduction of UV
radiation lamps, which emit similar UV rays to the sun to disinfect the water. Chlorination systems
had come into use a few years later during the 1900 s as scientists had discovered the disinfection
properties of chlorine. Both methods have benefits and weaknesses, however chlorination is more
suitable due to its low cost of production and decreased risk of bacterial products in metropolitan
areas.
The treatment process involves the removal of contaminants through a number of stages which
include: pre water treatment, coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and
disinfection. This is called the multiple barrier principle (Water Treatment, 1994).
The water treatment begins with the process of screening,

Analysis Of Craig Mullaney s Novel The Unforgiving Minute
One of the most interesting and fascinating aspects of the Army is learning about the experiences
of the individuals that drive the organization. Due to the nature of the organization, the members
of the United States Army come from all walks of life, all with unique backgrounds and
experiences. Consequentially, the Army is a highly versatile and diverse organization that can
accomplish almost any mission. Similarly, the leadership training and education of Craig
Mullaney received at West Point, Ranger School, and Oxford were designed to provide him with
the necessary knowledge and experience to overcome his challenges he faced in Afghanistan.
Essentially, these institutions honed his internal qualities such as hard work and dedication to
enable him to lead soldiers. The name of Mullaney s novel, The Unforgiving Minute, describes a
unique situation: a point in time when a decision or action must be taken to overcome a difficult
scenario, specifically a scenario where either decision leads to a negative outcome. Based on the
novel, the unforgiving minute Mullaney faced was when his convoy was ambushed and he lost a
soldier. Essentially, the decision he made was to have his dismounted squad assault an enemy
position which resulted in an engagement where his soldier was fatally wounded. Yet if he had not
ordered this assault, the same enemy position was waiting to detonate a large IED on the mounted
convoy; an event which would have possibly lead to a large number of

The Role of the Amygdala in Human Functioning Essay
History The term amygdala was first used by Burdach (1819) and referred to a set of nuclei in the
brain (Aggleton Saunders, 2000). In 1939, researchers KlГјver Bucy inflicted bilateral lesions of
the inferior temporal lobe of monkeys in a laboratory in an attempt to reduce aggression. These
lesions affected the cortical areas, amygdala, and the hippocampus. Later this became known as
KlГјver Bucy syndrome, and consisted of symptoms such as psychic blindness, hypermetamorphsis,
oral tendencies, and changes in emotional and sexual behaviors. Lesions of the amygdala made
monkeys fearless of e.g. humans or snakes, and affectively flat, tame. This research brought
recognition to the notion that the amygdala plays a significant role in the... Show more content on

The limbic system was first recognized due to Franz Josef Gall (LeDoux, J., 1996). Franz Joseph
Gall developed the idea of phrenology that focused on the study of the different variations of bumps
on the human skull to be related to differences in behavioral and emotional functioning. The limbic
system s main function in the brain is to control emotional behaviors and certain forms of
memories that are infused with emotion (amygdala). The amygdala is a part of the brain that
forms the tail end of the basal ganglia within the rostral temporal lobe and is located near the
hippocampus (Lambert, K.G. Kinsley, C .H., 2005). The amygdala, as defined by the text, is an
almond shaped structure that functions as a part of the limbic system involved in regulation of
emotion and sexual urges (Lambert, K.G. Kinsley, C .H., 2005). In addition, the amygdala is
comprised of a dozen or more sub regions that are not all involved in fear conditioning (LeDoux, J.,
1996).
Primary Involvement The amygdala has been the subject of many researchers curiosity throughout
the history of neurological science and neuropsychology. Multiple studies have been successful in
identifying the role of the amygdala in the human brain and it s primary

Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar The works of Sylvia Plath have always been at least slightly
controversial; most of them have themes of feminism, suicide, or depression. Plath was born in
1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, and by the age of twelve she was reported to have had an IQ of
about 160 (Kelly). Growing up in an age in which women were expected to be nothing more than
conservative housemaids, Plath stood defiant against the views of society, choosing to expose any
misogynistic prejudices or hateful prospects against mental illness through her writings (Allen).
Perhaps the most famous work of Sylvia Plath s is The Bell Jar a book that follows the mental
deterioration of a nineteen year old girl named Esther through the narration of Esther herself.
Although Sylvia Plath hated life in general and committed suicide at the age of 32 after her husband
left her, the myriad autobiographical elements, metaphors, and motifs that appear throughout her
works produce a beautifully vivid representation of people, the world, and life itself ( Sylvia Plath
). Sylvia Plath, like her character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Esther, the world seems quite unfriendly, and the novel documents her desperate search for
identity and reassurance. Nevertheless, Esther is intrigued by the world around her, and at the start
of the book she is seen with a wondrous outlook on life that is reflected in the metaphors
throughout the novel (Coyle). In the first half of the book, Esther is fascinated by the medical
practices of her boyfriend, Buddy, as well as by current events in the newspapers and the thought of
her own future family. As the story progresses, however, Esther becomes indifferent about life, and
she develops bitterness toward everything that appears to prevent her from achieving things she
wants (Huf). As Esther s mental state worsens, the metaphors and similes presented to the reader
begin to have negative connotations

The Characteristics Of Jeronimo And The Revenger s Tragedy
He that will swear Jeronimo [...] the best plays yet, shall pass unexpected at here as a man whose
judgement shows it is constant, and hath stood still these five and twenty, or thirty years
Ben Jonson (Bartholmew Fair, 1614)
Jonson, ever caustic, made no bones about his disdain for sensationalist tragedies that catered to
the bloodlust of the groundlings, yet even such an inveterate critic as he, was forced to admit that
these melodramas had withstood the test of time. I would like to discuss two plays for this
question Jeronimo or Thomas Kyd s The Spanish Tragedyperformed in 1587 or 1588 and
Middleton s The Revenger s Tragedy, a play that appeared almost at the end of the period entitled
the golden age of revenge tragedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both dramatists stick to the formula in that sense with Hieronimo and Vindice but also expend
effort in giving their protagonists, psychological depth, setting them apart from the one
dimensional avengers that one would expect from a formulaic play. Kyd carefully structures the
process by which Hieronimo, a tragic subject, comes into being, while in Vindice, that process
has already taken place, nine years ago. The frustrated fury of Hieronimo, a fury that arises in
part from an inability to locate justice in the universe, is depicted with understanding. For in
revenge, he cries, my heart would find relief. He is aware even before he carries out his
vengeance, that it is the only act that will provide some relief to his anguish. By contrast, in
Vindice, Middleton creates a revenger with a past forgotten by all but him. He is a figure that
stays on the margins whether as Vindice or as Piato irony is central to his manner and his view
of life. His own sexual anxieties are evident, paradoxically enough, especially in his test of
Gratiana and Castiza and his exuberance and zest in his own actions are reminiscent of a Volpone
or Mosca. In the end though, both recognise the essential futility of their actions even while
acknowledging its inevitability. Tis time to die when we are ourselves our foes, says Vindice, a
phrase that beautifully captures the mental emptiness of revenge. Apart from the protagonists,
other characters too are finely sketched. Bel Imperia s character is an intriguing one she is no uni
dimensional puppet caught between a dynastic marriage and romantic love. It is clear that she is
far from being sexually innocent and in fact, the catalyst in Hieronimo s revenge. She has been
read in many different ways but what emerges at the end, is her strength of convictions and her
desire to control her own destiny. In The Revenger s Tragedy,

Evolution By Natural Selection
Evolution is the change of traits of a species over several generations. A famous biologist named
Charles Darwin, theorized that evolution happens by natural selection. Many people believe that
evolution requires millions of years but scientists believe that evolution can occur rather quickly. In
Today s world, we have better health care, food, shelter and hygiene. Some might question if our
advanced medicine and technology can lead to a stop in evolution, but in fact we are still evolving
according to some scientists (Neild). There has been much debate and controversy over this
statement but there is no concrete proof to say that humans are not evolving. In fact, there is
evidence that evolution is happening at this very moment. For example,... Show more content on

Over the past 30,000 years, human brains have decreased about ten percent which is said to be
equivalent to a tennis ball. Wilkens states, Based on skulls found in Europe, Asia, and the Middle
East, the human brain was about 1,500 cubic centimeters 30,000 years ago, and now it s down to
about 1,359 cubic centimeters. It might seem like a slow process but losing that much brain mass
can surely affect humans one way or another. Although some people might think that humans are
getting dumber because of the shrinking of the brain, some scientists strongly believe that is not
the case. There are several theories that explain why this phenomenon is happening. One theory
states that humans now tend to rely more on society and smaller brains help us work together. It
also states that smaller brains cause humans to be less aggressive, giving us many social
advantages (Hullinger). Another and more interesting theory states that the reason behind the loss
of the human brain mass is because, Domestication leads to smaller brains. (Alban) Humans
learned how to cultivate, find food and shelter. People no longer need to learn survival skills like
our ancient ancestors once did which means that that location in our brain in no longer being used.
A good example of this are domestic animals. Pet owners provide their animals with food, shelter
and love. They are no longer out in the wilderness

1381 Peasant Uprising
The Peasant Uprising of England and France, erupted in 1381. Armies of peasants were revolting
and captured the Tower of London. The Archbishop of Canterbury and the King s Treasurer were
slaughtered. What had caused this uproar? Had the country become loose due to their 14 year old
King? What made the peasants revolt and march to London? The Peasant Uprising began directly
after the Black Death. Many of the rich and wealthy land owning owners had been short of
workers. To encourage the men and women who survived the plague to work for the manors, the
lords had given the peasants their estates their freedom and had set salaries for their labor. But
nearly after 35 years after the Black Death, the peasants became worried about their privileges

Not to only worsen the matter, England was in debt after a long war with France, it increased
the tax rate for everyone. In 1380 King Richard proposed the Poll Tax idea. It claimed that
everyone who was tax registered had to pay 5p(for the peasants that had been a lot of money). It
had been the third time in the space of four years a tax like that been asked for, in 1381, the
peasants had enough. It started in May of 1381, tax collectors arrived to Essex village, to resolve
why the people had not been paying there taxes. The peasants revolted and threw the tax collector
out of the village. When an act of force was shown, the peasants rose above them and decided to
organize themselves with other neighboring villages. As they all came together, they marched to
London, for the King to listen to what they had to say. They marched to London, destroyed tax

Gold Digger Song Analysis
In the year of 2005, Kanye West released his second album of that year, Late Registration,
containing one of his biggest hits. The song Gold Digger is about how rich men must always be
on guard of women who will manipulate and lie their way into a man s life explicitly for money
and possibly fame. Gold Digger, being one of his most popular songs, peaked at number one on the
US Billboard Hot 100. The song received 13 nominations for awards and won 4 different awards,
one being a Grammy for best solo rap performance. By the year 2011, Kanye Wests hit single had
sold over 3 million copies in the United States. Since then, Gold Digger has been recreated,

Twin Caverns remade Kanye s hit song in a way that points out how the song can become nearly
any type of genre that an artist would want it to be; whether it be rap, soft rock, pop or country
music. The original song, however, is meant to be more upbeat and in a rap melody in order for
it to attain the best results possible. Twin Caverns were not able to fit the entire original song
into their version because of the tempo they set forth. If they had done so the song would be a
seven minute song where people would not take the time to listen to the song. This, however, hurt
the song tremendously because a lot of what was left out was important to the original story
Kanye produced in his song. What made the song so successful was that Twin Caverns delivered
an alternative song from the original raunchy rap song to a soothing song that can calm a person.
It is also successful because the song is nearly unrecognizable from the original. The reworking
that was done to the song, in a way, slows down the world around the listener and makes them take
a step back and relax. These songs together show just how much potential Kanye s hit song has and
it has been shown through many other

Comprehensive Sexual Education
More than 20 million cases of teen pregnancies and STD s appear in one year. Comprehensive
sexual education is a form of sexual education that teaches students about reproduction health,
contraception, childbirth, and sexually transmitted diseases. Schools that have sexual education
usually teach abstinence only methods so students are not being informed on how to avoid the
risks of sex if they decide to become sexually active. The average age for people to become
sexually active is 17 so there are many pregnant teens or teens with an STD because they are not
being informed on how to protect themselves. Comprehensive sexual education is extremely helpful
because it can prevent negative effects of sex. Lack of comprehensive sexual education... Show

An Inspector Calls By J. B. Priestley
The play An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestley tells the story of a wealthy family in 1912 who are
holding a celebration when the harsh figure of a police inspector arrives to investigate the
suicide of a young woman who used to work at Mr Birling s factory. In the first fifteen pages of
the play, Priestley is able to make the Birling family appear extremely confident, whilst also
creating subtle tensions, of which the significance later becomes clear. Confidence: In the
opening pages of the play, Birling s speeches contain a lot of dramatic irony. For example, he
confidently states what he thinks are proven facts which turn out to be false. For example,
Birling s response to rumours about a war is to that I say fiddlesticks! and that there isn t a
change of war . This is extremely ironic since several years after the play is set, World War I
breaks out and after that, before the play is written, World War II follows. Birling later mentions
a friend of his who was due to go on the Titanic, and he calls it unsinkable . The Titanic was the
height of aristocracy at the time, and was one of the biggest events of the time showing such huge
class divide. The dramatic irony is that the Titanic, in fact, sunk, despite its reputation as being
unsinkable , and Birling s complacency and confidence causes him to not consider the possibility
of this happening. It also makes him appear rather idiotic to the audience. Finally, he describes how
Russia will always be behindhand

Colorimetric Cocaine Detection
Colorimetric sensors have significant advantages for on site and point of care detections because
these sensing platforms can minimize or even eliminate the requirement of analytical instruments
and made naked eye observation highly achievable. The colorimetric detection of cocaine was
reported based on the catalytic activity of the peroxidase mimicking (G quadruplex DNAzyme) in
the TMB H2O2 reaction system.243 One of the aptamer fragments was modified on amine
functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and another was kept in the solution. The binding
of cocainebrought two fragments on the MNP, forming a three way junction on the surface. The G

St. Francis s Basic Social Services Essay
Since 1984 Saint Francis has offered basic social services that potentially save the lives of
several. As the organization itself says, Saint Francis house s main mission is to rebuild lives by
providing refuge and pathways to stability for adults experiencing homelessness and poverty
(Saint Francis House 1). They do this by providing several services. Their services include:
Food, daytime shelter, clothing, showers and toiletries, and mail ID services. Going over the
services in more depth, the food department makes sure each homeless person is fed. They serve
breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the first floor dining
area every day. Additionally, they provide back up food / emergency sandwiches at 2:45 am for
anyone that may need it at night. Just over the last year they served 220,000 meals, showing the
impact it has within the people they serve in Boston. Moreover, the clothing distribution center,
rather Fresh Threads focuses on being a center for clothing items. Here, the person can register for
an appointment where they can get dressed from head to toe. They can receive an outfit,
outerwear, footwear, accessories or any other seasonal item. Additionally, the day center offers a

Richard Nixon s Involvement In Vietnam
Many people think that all Nixon did in his presidency was the watergate scandal, but in reality he
helped stop Americans fighting in the Vietnam War. When Richard Nixon started in Office he was
faced with the difficult task of trying to pull all US troops out of Vietnam. He decided to use a
tactic he created called Vietnamization. The simple plan was to strengthen South Vietnam so they
could fight the war by themselves. The plan involved many small steps which helped finally end
our involvement in January 1973. The War was highly disliked by many Americans. This split
America up and caused divisions in America. Richard Nixonended US involvement in the Vietnam
war by using the strategy of Vietnamization. Richard Nixon was the 37th President of the United
Statesof America. He was also the only president to resign from office. Nixon was born on
January 9,1913 in Yorba Linda, CA. Nixon s parents were Francis A. Nixon and Hannah Milhous

Homelessness A person without a home, and therefore living on the streets is defined as homeless.
America has numbers of homeless people living without a home or starving from hunger. The
solution to this problem would be the United States providing homeless people with permanent,
affordable housing, and wraparound services. Permanent supportive housing will resolve this
issue for our country. Shelters can be beneficial in providing beds and roofs to people who don t

It can be tremendously effective at serving the chronically homeless get off the streets and stay
stable. This is what s called a housing first approach, frequent studies have found it is much more
effective than depending on shelters. This benefits homeless people in long term housing without
inquiring them to get sober or hang onto a job first. Once they are settled in a stable home, they
gain access to services such as drug and alcohol treatment, an assigned social worker, or job
training. They do not have to take advantage of those services, but most people do choose to do so.
Several people who need permanent supportive housing are fighting mental problems or drug and
alcohol manipulation, and would have ended up in institutions. Isolating those homeless people
from the rest of society is like institutionalizing them, and it violates the law. Some housing
developments provide both permanent supportive housing and low income housing, so that homes
can be made available to larger amounts of the population. This kind of mixed use housing helps
create communities. This includes, single moms living in affordable housing aiding ex cons living
in supportive housing, and vice versa. This and other experiences suggest that integrating

The Ethics Of Using Stem Cells
A fairly new area of research has emerged in which scientists are looking into using stem cells for
various sources. One of the major problems that arose with this new area of research was the
ethics of using embryonic stem cells (ESCs) to conduct research. This brought up problems,
especially within the Catholic Church, as to when does life first begin. Taking these undeveloped
embryos was seen as taking the life of an unborn child. New insights into this area of research
have shed light onto alternative methods of studying using stem cells. This includes the
reprogramming of various cells into a state that can be programmed into various tissue types in
the body. Of course as promising as this area of research sounds, there are many implications that
need to be studied further before scientists are ready to administer such treatment to patients on a
large scale. This paper will seek to familiarize readers with stem cells, the idea of pluripotency,
what cellular reprogramming is, the benefits and drawbacks of cellular reprogramming, and
applications of reprogramming. For starters, a stem cellis an undifferentiated cell that is capable of
regenerating itself or becoming induced into a specific tissue or organ for specialized functions
under certain physiological functions. All stem cells have the following three things in common:
they are capable of renewing and dividing themselves over an extended period of time, they are not
specialized, and they are able to give rise

Nonviolent Cases
On April 19, 1989, 29 year old Trisha Meili was brutally attacked and raped in Central Park. The
attack was a high profile case for a few reasons: the victim was a white woman in an affluent part
of Manhattan, and the perpetrators were thought to be a group of young, low class Black and
Latino teens from Harlem. Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam,
and Korey Wise were interrogated and manipulated, leading to their arrests and imprisonment for a
brutal rape that they did not commit, or even know of initially. With the only incriminating
evidence being the confessions of the teens, which were coerced and pressured by detectives and
police officers, the Central Park jogger case is a prime example of the scapegoating... Show more

Since the Underclass is also apparently a culture of poverty and behavior being linked, it is
important to note that according to the National Research Council, over half of fathers in prison
reported being the primary source of income for their household. If these fathers eventually do get
released, the chances of them finding employment is restricted, leaving the family struggling
financially even more than they were before. This continues to prove that even though there are
systemic and legislative reasons as to why the marginalized remain marginalized, the ruling society
continuously blames the disadvantaged groups for their living conditions. In the case of the five
teens accused of raping and brutally attacking Trisha Meili, the consequences aren t about how they
couldn t function as father figures because they were in prison, but rather that their families were
put under so much scrutiny and abuse under the lens of mass media, the government, and the

Unmanned Vs. Automated Drones Essay
The purpose of this research paper is to explore unmanned or automated drones for the use of
package delivery and the impact upon the consumer. Both businesses and consumers have had a
significant interest in using machines to do what many consider the manual task of moving items
from the seller to the consumer. Banking, telecommunications, and grocery shopping were once
thought to require personal interaction to perform transactions. Through innovation, each of these
industries has transformed through some form of automation. The shipping industry may be on the
precipice of such an evolution. I work in the transportation industry, and there has been
significant interest in the use of unmanned vehicles to deliver parcels. I will explore drone
technology and the impact to consumers and the logistic industry as drones are used in
operations. The reasons vary, but overwhelming demand is originating from retailers that have
relied on third party companies to connect products to the buyer. I will also discuss how there
will be a continued need for people in the logistics industry. The future of small parcel delivery
will eventually include the use of drones rather than relying exclusively on methods dependent on
people to deliver items. Small packages are considered bags or boxes that weigh less than twenty
pounds, and the average weight in which potential drone operating retailers are focused are those
weighing five pounds or less. The compelling factor for this

Dancing As A World That Did Not Know Dancing Essay
Can you image a world that did not know dancing? When I asked this question to my friends, one of
them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable,
and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known
instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already
know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and
where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing
was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before
the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable
physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and
Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and communicate with god, and these dances also have
been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time
passed since dancing began, dance is always about communication among people, and they are
required several kinds of dance style to show their expression. One of the dances which people
have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance. Folk dance is a form of dance developed
by a group of people that reflects the traditional life of the people of a certain country or region.
Besides, folk dances, unlike most other dance forms, tend to have stringent rules,

Charles Town Dbq Questions And Answers
Charles Town DBQ Did you Know Charleston Used to be Called Charles Town? Settlers wanted
to settle in Charles Town, but it was difficult due to the environment and the people in it. So they
had to overcome them so the settlers could make a settlement. They overcome them by clearing
the land, fighting the Native Americans and growing crops. Settling is to, migrate and colonize.
Charles Town was difficult to settle because of the geography, resources and disease. One reason
why Charles Town was difficult to settle was the geography of the land. According to the map
of Charles Town in Document A, there was a lot of rivers this was good for transportation.
Rivers were bad for building and exploring. Some of the natural resources on the map are trees
and water. Problems the settlers faced while settling were the animals, weather and the Native
Americans. A lot of the animals and Native Americans were unfriendly in this area. The weather in
this area is rainy and that can be hard when you re trying to build a town. Those are all the reasons

to put a field or build a house. Some resources that made it easy to settle was the flat land, cleared
land from the Native Americans, pasturage, water and trees. Pasturage is soil that is good for

A.Criteria for an effective Internal Communication
Improving internal communication is essential for Bobst Lyon in order to stimulate their
employees, to gather them towards a sense of togetherness and to increase their confidence in them
and in what they do.
First and foremost, it is essential to characterize an effective internal communication. To be

One issue that it was causing was that some subunits did not feel like they were receiving as much
information as productions units get. This was due to the fact the priorities were different from
subsidiaries to subsidiaries.
Bobst should for example make a further use of its Intranet since it s a communication channels that
every employees in the group has access to. Thus, subsidiaries would feel less frustrated not to have
access to all the relevant information. Moreover, to prevent teams from feeling neglected, the

Renal Cell Carcinoma Of The Kidney Essay
The most common genitourinary cancers are, renal cell carcinoma of the kidney, transitional cell
carcinoma of the bladder, and adenocarcinoma of the prostat.
1 Renal cell carcinoma, the most common cancer of the kidney, accounts for approximately 90%
of all renal malignancies. About 65,000 cases of renal cell carcinoma are diagnosed each year in
the U.S. Despite advances in diagnosis, especially improved imaging techniques and the incidental
diagnosis of many tumors with imaging tests for unrelated complaints, about 20 30% of all patients
are diagnosed with metastatic disease. In addition, another 20% of patients undergoing
nephrectomy will have a relapse and develop metastatic RCC during follow up.
For patients with (m RCC), the prognosis is extremely poor, which makes the occurrence of (m
RCC) a serious problem for oncologic health care around the world.
The American Cancer Society s most recent estimates for kidney cancer in the United
States are for 2016:
About 62,700 new cases (39,650 in men and 23,050 in women) will occur.
About 14,240 people (9,240 men and 5,000 women) will die from this disease.
These numbers include all types of kidney and renal pelvis cancers.
Kidney cancer is among the 10 most common cancers in both men and women. Overall, the
lifetime risk for developing kidney cancer is about 1 in 63 (1.6%). This risk is higher in men than
in women.
For reasons that are not totally clear, the rate of new kidney cancers has been rising since

Summary Of Miseducation Of The Negro
In the book Miseducation of The Negro, Carter G. Woodson argues the concept of the systemic
education and church organization that have been embedded in us throughout history, which
affects African Americans in today s society. Woodson examined the orchestrated events that were
created to make Africans inferior with people who have no background, and no foundation. The
misrepresentation of history in schools has demeaned what Africans have accomplished. In chapter
seven through fourteen, Woodson goes in depth of the value of African Americans learning their
history. The history that is taught in the American educational system is Eurocentric; hence,
European history is taught, but not African history. We do not offer here any course in Negro
history, Negro literature, or racerelations, recently said a professor of a Negro college. (132)

The Importance Of Roofing Contractors In Frisco TX
Even in the best of economic times, hiring roofing contractors in Frisco TX can put you in a
precarious situation. You want to find the best possible deal, but just because a price is low, that
does not mean it is the best. If it seems to be too good a deal to be real, it usually is. If you are in
the market for roofing repairs, there are some very important things to consider. Some
contractors are not above taking shortcuts to save time and money. You need to know with whom
your contractor is doing business, and what sort of business they do. What is their history? They
should have a positive reputation for using good materials, having proper insurance, doing good
work, and timeliness. Choosing the cheapest roofing contractors in Frisco TX means risking
more than your project. It is possible to end up with a roofer who leaves you in the middle of the
job, taking your money and leaving you to deal with the aftermath. We have all heard of situations
in which property owners ended up with liability because the service provider did not have the

Beowulf Leadership Analysis
In the fantasy world found within the story of Beowulf; Hrothgar, the wise king of the Danes,
offers Beowulf some important lessons of leadership. Hrothgar, recognizing Beowulf s nobility and
strength, talks to him about how he should act to be a good ruler when he becomes king. The
characteristics of good leadershipthat Hrothgar mentions still hold true today, through people like
politicians, and business executives. Hrothgar s sermon not only provides an insight into what
leaders like these should do, it aims to bring to light what leaders should not do.
To Hrothgar, a true leader should not be wicked to their people; rather, they should show kindness
and be loved by their people. While talking about a previous ruler of the Danes, Hrothgar tells
Beowulf that his rise in the world brought little joy to the Danish people, only death and
destruction (McArthur). In order to keep the people happy, it is important to be open to them
and generous. Beowulf does this when he becomes king of the Geats by becoming a ring giver
to his people (Loughman). For example, after slaying the monster Grendel, Hrothgar rewards
Beowulf, with a victory gift, an embroidered banner; also breast mail; and a sword carried high
(Post). In today s society, rewarding swords and armor to every staff member at a company is a bit
outlandish, nevertheless; business executives can take away from this by rewarding the work that
the people of their company put in, rather than ignoring the needs and lives

The Colossus Of Latin America
The United States has been a heavily involved in Latin American affairs for a long time, and there
is great controversy surrounding how good of a neighbor we have been. As the Colossus of the
North , this country holds enormous power. The question is; have we used our power for good or
for evil? At times, we have been generous to Latin American countries. We returned the Panama
Canal to the Panamanians and created free trade with Mexico through NAFTA. However, the
negative impact we have had outweighs the good. Time after time, the United Stateshas put dictators
into Latin American countries out of the fear of growing communism. We have meddled, taken the
situations of our neighbors into our own hands with force, and vilified them for situations like the
drug trade dilemma that are partially at the fault of the United States. Due to the selfish
overstepping upon Latin American governments, our discrimination and blame upon immigrants
and foreigners as well as patronizing actions like the Cuban embargo and the Roosevelt Corollary to
the Monroe Doctrine, the Colossus of the North has historically been a poor neighbor to Latin
American countries. During the Cold War Era, anti communist countries like the United States took
drastic measures to eliminate communism. Tension spread worldwide and a lot of violence sprung
from the feud between communist and anti communist parties. Many Latin American countries in
this time were under a communistic rule and the United States did

The automatic nervous system is equipped with multiple automatic functions necessary for the

which helps motivate an individual to perform under pressure, or even protect themselves in a

stress in extreme amounts can begin to cause physiological and emotional problems, ranging from

Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report
Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure
aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy.
To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with
HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are
found below:
2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g)
2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl,
producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of Hв‚‚O into a previously weighed beaker.
The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was
subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown
above and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling
the first objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into
a mass fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for
both reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab
manual.
Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. The first two trials were
set up to ultimately record the experimental molar mass of aluminum, and the last two trials were

friendly. She also has an unbelievable imagination; she created a doll house out of shoe boxes
with a slide, an aroma room, licorice room, and a bubble machine. Also, she has a weird side
which she really shows with her songs. One of her famous songs is called smelly cat.
Furthermore, Rachel Green is another character in this great sitcom. She is played by Jennifer
Aniston. Rachel is caring, loyal, and dependable. One of the most enjoyable episodes with
Rachel is when she sings with Ross, her baby s father, Baby Got Back to her baby daughter to
make her laugh. Finally, Ross Geller is one of the characters that I most enjoyed in the sitcom. He
is introverted, caring, shy, and trustworthy. In one episode, he wanted to show his friends that he
knew how to flirt so he was going to flirt with the pizza delivery girl. Instead Ross ended up talking
about different smells of gas with her. All of the characters have different personalities, but that
makes their friendship

Ineffective Postoperative Pain
What is postoperative pain?
An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage
due to surgery... thus pain is what the person says it is, and exists when the person experiencing the
pain says it does.
Situational Analysis.
Approximately 80% of patients who undergo surgery experience acute postoperative pain. With
75% of these patients report post operative pain as moderate, severe or extreme 12,96.
In adequate post operative pain management and assessment postpones patient discharge and delays
recovery affecting 24% of patients. As a result there are increased readmissions and prolonged
length of stays in hospital, and also poor clinical outcomes for the patient.
Therefore when acute postoperative pain is improperly managed, it leads to emotional and
physiological disorders (Gillaspie, 2010; Polomano et al., 2008), hinder social functioning (Cox,
2010), and may lead to the progression of chronic pain disorders (Dunwoody, Krenzischek, Pasero,
Rathmell, Polomano, 2008; Gillaspie, 2010; Gupta, Daigle, Mojica, Hurley, 2009). ... Show more

Barriers to effective management of post operative pain are the clinicians insufficient knowledge
in pain assessment and management skills (Dunwoody et al., 2008, Gillaspie, 2010; Gupta et al.,

clinicians such as nursing staff, often prevent the provision of adequate pain control.
Strategies implemented to alleviate postoperative pain include acupuncture or acupressure and

Hollywood Production Code Essay
The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished
in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to
be established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into
feature films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a
fast rate and later on new filmtechniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie
sets were introduced. Films, and Hollywood
itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation
presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever
is sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created.
Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered
by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new
revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at
the same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was
formally implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story
encompassing the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable
tool on the comprehension of the Production Code s direct impact on Hollywood and the
reverberations that can

Personal Narrative-Memoir s Shoot The Messenger
Yeah, I directed an episode of Haven in its last season. And that was something I had always
been working toward even before I worked on Haven. I ve shadowed directors as much as I
could and as long as I could in the hopes of one day getting to direct myself. And that actually
came to pass, and the experience was beyond my wildest dreams. It was just incredible. I loved
it. I was terrified and just completely overwhelmed the whole time with a combination of sheer
terror and pure joy. It was amazing. Then I assume that s something you d like to do more of in
the future. Definitely. Definitely. So in addition to directing, are you thinking one day you may
do some writing? Yeah, I ve been doing some writing for a little while now. And yeah, I would love
to be able to have some of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
cn_bjbpwoaaaw3i.png Sure. There s a series called Shoot the Messenger which is going to be
premiering on CBC in Canada in October. So that s something wildly different than the things
we ve been talking about. It s a dramatic eight part series about an investigative journalist who
stumbles on a case that quickly pulls her into this rabbit hole of political intrigue and murder and
sex and drugs and all sorts of dangerous and wild stuff. So it s something very different. But I
play an investigative journalist her partner and so the two of us are trying to figure it all out the
show starts out with a murder. And it gets more and more confusing and more and more
dangerous. It s going to be a pretty wild show. It sounds interesting, but of course, since it s in
Canada, we will have to wait to see it. Sometimes it upsets me because there are these great shows
up in Canada that we can t watch Totally. but of course, it happens that s there s shows here that
you guys aren t able to watch. Right. For now, Shoot the Messenger is premiering on CBC. But
hopefully it will be available internationally,

Foster Parents Vs Adoptive Parents
The huge responsibility that comes with raising children encompasses everything from
education, and medical procedures, all the way to discipline and religion; this authority
primarily lies with biological or adoptive parents whose main goal is to raise their children to be
productive members of society. There are many different types of parents from biological and
adopted to foster and single parents.1 Foster Parents is a term that refers to adults who are
licensed by a state or county to provide a temporary home for children.2 Though foster parents are
parents in name they are not legally parents to the children they care for when compared to
biological or adoptive parent.3 Biological or adoptive parents are legally the parents to

The Importance Of Fashion
One of the most popular trends all around the world is fashion. Fashion is used to express how
someone feels without using words, and it describes the custom or dress of a person. Many people
think fashion is not important, but they use it every day. It embraces a person s inner beauty and
the way people do things. Fashionis not just clothes or hair styles, it s about how someone feels,
how someone acts, and somebody s perspective on fashion. First and foremost, how someone feels
is important when it comes to fashion because people want to feel happy and comfortable in their
clothes. Clothingimpacts a person s mood, but the outcome is positive. For example, Danielle
Armstrong, is usually grumpy in the morning but when she throws on bright and joyful clothing,
she tends to feel better than when she woke up. (Hartley) Danielle put on a yellow dress, so she
felt happy. Clothing brings joy to many people, but the color must be bright or it could be there
favorite color. People who oppose of bright clothing are most likely to be in a bad mood, for
example, a girl walks into her class wearing black clothing from head to toe, someone else walks
in with a bright red shirt and a big smile on their face, the girl wonders why there so happy, turns
out it was because of the color clothing the person had on. (Satenstein) Also, fashion can change a
person s entire life around. There are many reasons why this could happen, for example, many
people can suffer from depression or anxiety

J. P. Morgan s Robber Baron
Like any other Robber Baron during the late 1800 s, J.P. Morgan was no different. He controlled
finance and industrial consolidation and was well known for being a banker. Credited for being
one of the few to shape the U.S., Morgan did have a lust of power and greed, but that doesn t
stop him from being America s leading businessman. His impact goes as far as the present with
the many companies he created. John Pierpont J.P. Morgan was born to a New England family on
April 17, 1837, in Hartford, Connecticut, being in a well known family. James Pierpoint was one of
the founders of Yale University, his grandfather founded the Aetna Insurance Company, and his
father Junius Spencer Morgan ran a successful Hartford dry goods company before... Show more

But still, during the late 1800 s, much of the country s industries fell into powerful business
leaders, including Morgan. He was criticized by everyone for a couple of reasons: he created
monopolies by making it difficult for any business to compete against his known as
Morganization; even though he was responsible for leading them out of the 1907 financial crisis,
he was also claimed by muckraking journalists that he manipulated the nation s financial system for
his own gain, as thousands of workers die in his steel factories, and suffered higher casualties than
even the Civil war. This earned Morgan the occasional distrust of the federal government as well.
But those reasons didn t stop him to be a man who ended up industrializing America with his vast,
growing, and substantial companies and financial expertise that just saved the railroads and
subdued the country s financial panics. If he also had not fought alongside with Thomas Edison
with their DC (Direct Current) against Tesla and Westinghouse s AC (Alternating Current
), the way
we use electricity wouldn t be the same today.
In conclusion, J.P. Morgan is considered more of a Captain of Industry for today s modern age than
a robber baron. America would have been a whole different country without his contributions
towards society, especially if he didn t start the many companies and industries during his

Gene Regulation For Safety Assessment
Gene Regulation for Safety Assessment:
In addition to the mph gene, few gene regulations are implemented as safety assessment for the
product. In the recombination process of making this product, Ecoli plasmid has been used as a
vector to insert mph gene into host bacteria. We use a plasmid vector from E.coli that has
conserved sequence for Plac promoter and gef suicide gene. Plac promoter is positioned upstream
of mph gene to regulate its expression. Later, Plac promoter will be activated by induction with
IPTG.
A suicide system in E.coli plasmid vector is used to reduce the potential risk of gene escaping into
the environment. Genetic transfer from GM bacteria to other bacteria via trans conjugation will
cause unexpected genetic combinations. This method is implemented by using recipient plasmid
with suicide gene gef from E.coli, with expression controlled by Pm promoter. Pm promoter
sequence, which present upstream of the gef suicide gene will control the expression of gef suicide
gene.
The suicide system did not interfere with the performance of the GM bacteria until its
physiological function was activated by specific signal. In developing this product, we use Methyl
Benzoate as the chemical suicide signal. Following the addition of methyl benzoate, the Pm
promoter will be activated, and lead to the activation of gef suicide gene. This activates the suicide
system of the cells and the cell growth will decreases as the cells die.

The study used a 5 item Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) developed by Diener et al. (1985)
to measure undergraduate student s life satisfaction and were measured using a 5 point Likert
scale, ranging from 1 = strongly disagree to 5 = strongly agree with a high overall reliability of
0.78 in this study. Students were asked to state their degree of satisfaction with several aspects of
life including educational experience, academic performance, friendships, health and living
environment. Results show that there was a significant negative correlation between the two
variables with higher levels of perceived stress associated with lower levels of satisfaction with life
(Alleyne Greenidge, 2010)
Next, the study conducted by Kamarudin Rafidah, Aris Azizah, Mohd Daud Norzaidi, Siong Choy
Chong, Mohamed Intan Salwani and Ibrahim Noraini from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia
and Putra International College, Melaka, Malaysia was to examine the relationship between stress
factors (health, social and academic) and the level of perceived stress at three different periods of a
semester (beginning, middle and end) and their impact on the academic performance of Pre
Diploma Science students at the University of Technology MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. The
population of the Pre Diploma Science students for the June November 2005 intake in the campus

  • 2. Assess The Importance Of Carbohydrates Carbohydrates: It is recommended that at least 50 60% of your daily calorie intake comes from carbohydrates. This about 4 5kg of carbohydrates per kilogram of body weight for the average person. This would be more depending on the amount of exercise that each person does. Carbohydrates are either starches or sugars. Starchy foods, especially those that are unrefined such as whole grain bread, rice, pasta, cereals and potatoes, provide a steady supply of energy. However, these foods can be filling. To achieve optimal carbohydratestores, the sportsperson may need to top up with sugary sources that are more rapidly absorbed like sweets, dried fruit, fruit juice, and sugary or sports drinks. Fats: Fats provide a good and concentrated source of energy and it the most predominant fuel for low intensity activity. If you eat less fat you can eat more carbohydrates. A typical UK diet consists of 40% the total calorie intake being from fats. However it is recommended that this fat intake is kept between 30 35%. And also for those who are taking part in regular exercise they must low this further. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. The Water Treatment Process Surface waters necessitate water treatment before consumption to eliminate the risk present to the consumer. Poor quality water which consists of suspended and dissolved particles pose health risks. The most harmful contamination is the microbiological contamination which leads to infectious diseases (Water treatment, 1994).Since the early 1800 s water purification systems have been used to eliminate the health risk posed by the recycled water. During the final process of treatment alternate disinfectants are used, however UV radiation and chlorination are predominantly employed techniques. UV radiation emitted by the sun was discovered to have germicidal effects on pathogens and micro organisms present water. From this discovery came the introduction of UV radiation lamps, which emit similar UV rays to the sun to disinfect the water. Chlorination systems had come into use a few years later during the 1900 s as scientists had discovered the disinfection properties of chlorine. Both methods have benefits and weaknesses, however chlorination is more suitable due to its low cost of production and decreased risk of bacterial products in metropolitan areas. The treatment process involves the removal of contaminants through a number of stages which include: pre water treatment, coagulation and flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. This is called the multiple barrier principle (Water Treatment, 1994). The water treatment begins with the process of screening, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Craig Mullaney s Novel The Unforgiving Minute One of the most interesting and fascinating aspects of the Army is learning about the experiences of the individuals that drive the organization. Due to the nature of the organization, the members of the United States Army come from all walks of life, all with unique backgrounds and experiences. Consequentially, the Army is a highly versatile and diverse organization that can accomplish almost any mission. Similarly, the leadership training and education of Craig Mullaney received at West Point, Ranger School, and Oxford were designed to provide him with the necessary knowledge and experience to overcome his challenges he faced in Afghanistan. Essentially, these institutions honed his internal qualities such as hard work and dedication to enable him to lead soldiers. The name of Mullaney s novel, The Unforgiving Minute, describes a unique situation: a point in time when a decision or action must be taken to overcome a difficult scenario, specifically a scenario where either decision leads to a negative outcome. Based on the novel, the unforgiving minute Mullaney faced was when his convoy was ambushed and he lost a soldier. Essentially, the decision he made was to have his dismounted squad assault an enemy position which resulted in an engagement where his soldier was fatally wounded. Yet if he had not ordered this assault, the same enemy position was waiting to detonate a large IED on the mounted convoy; an event which would have possibly lead to a large number of ... • 5. The Role of the Amygdala in Human Functioning Essay History The term amygdala was first used by Burdach (1819) and referred to a set of nuclei in the brain (Aggleton Saunders, 2000). In 1939, researchers KlГјver Bucy inflicted bilateral lesions of the inferior temporal lobe of monkeys in a laboratory in an attempt to reduce aggression. These lesions affected the cortical areas, amygdala, and the hippocampus. Later this became known as KlГјver Bucy syndrome, and consisted of symptoms such as psychic blindness, hypermetamorphsis, oral tendencies, and changes in emotional and sexual behaviors. Lesions of the amygdala made monkeys fearless of e.g. humans or snakes, and affectively flat, tame. This research brought recognition to the notion that the amygdala plays a significant role in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The limbic system was first recognized due to Franz Josef Gall (LeDoux, J., 1996). Franz Joseph Gall developed the idea of phrenology that focused on the study of the different variations of bumps on the human skull to be related to differences in behavioral and emotional functioning. The limbic system s main function in the brain is to control emotional behaviors and certain forms of memories that are infused with emotion (amygdala). The amygdala is a part of the brain that forms the tail end of the basal ganglia within the rostral temporal lobe and is located near the hippocampus (Lambert, K.G. Kinsley, C .H., 2005). The amygdala, as defined by the text, is an almond shaped structure that functions as a part of the limbic system involved in regulation of emotion and sexual urges (Lambert, K.G. Kinsley, C .H., 2005). In addition, the amygdala is comprised of a dozen or more sub regions that are not all involved in fear conditioning (LeDoux, J., 1996). Primary Involvement The amygdala has been the subject of many researchers curiosity throughout the history of neurological science and neuropsychology. Multiple studies have been successful in identifying the role of the amygdala in the human brain and it s primary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar The works of Sylvia Plath have always been at least slightly controversial; most of them have themes of feminism, suicide, or depression. Plath was born in 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, and by the age of twelve she was reported to have had an IQ of about 160 (Kelly). Growing up in an age in which women were expected to be nothing more than conservative housemaids, Plath stood defiant against the views of society, choosing to expose any misogynistic prejudices or hateful prospects against mental illness through her writings (Allen). Perhaps the most famous work of Sylvia Plath s is The Bell Jar a book that follows the mental deterioration of a nineteen year old girl named Esther through the narration of Esther herself. Although Sylvia Plath hated life in general and committed suicide at the age of 32 after her husband left her, the myriad autobiographical elements, metaphors, and motifs that appear throughout her works produce a beautifully vivid representation of people, the world, and life itself ( Sylvia Plath ). Sylvia Plath, like her character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Esther, the world seems quite unfriendly, and the novel documents her desperate search for identity and reassurance. Nevertheless, Esther is intrigued by the world around her, and at the start of the book she is seen with a wondrous outlook on life that is reflected in the metaphors throughout the novel (Coyle). In the first half of the book, Esther is fascinated by the medical practices of her boyfriend, Buddy, as well as by current events in the newspapers and the thought of her own future family. As the story progresses, however, Esther becomes indifferent about life, and she develops bitterness toward everything that appears to prevent her from achieving things she wants (Huf). The Characteristics Of Jeronimo And The Revenger s Tragedy He that will swear Jeronimo [...] the best plays yet, shall pass unexpected at here as a man whose judgement shows it is constant, and hath stood still these five and twenty, or thirty years Ben Jonson (Bartholmew Fair, 1614) Jonson, ever caustic, made no bones about his disdain for sensationalist tragedies that catered to the bloodlust of the groundlings, yet even such an inveterate critic as he, was forced to admit that these melodramas had withstood the test of time. I would like to discuss two plays for this question Jeronimo or Thomas Kyd s The Spanish Tragedyperformed in 1587 or 1588 and Middleton s The Revenger s Tragedy, a play that appeared almost at the end of the period entitled the golden age of revenge tragedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both dramatists stick to the formula in that sense with Hieronimo and Vindice but also expend effort in giving their protagonists, psychological depth, setting them apart from the one dimensional avengers that one would expect from a formulaic play. Kyd carefully structures the process by which Hieronimo, a tragic subject, comes into being, while in Vindice, that process has already taken place, nine years ago. The frustrated fury of Hieronimo, a fury that arises in part from an inability to locate justice in the universe, is depicted with understanding. For in revenge, he cries, my heart would find relief. He is aware even before he carries out his vengeance, that it is the only act that will provide some relief to his anguish. By contrast, in Vindice, Middleton creates a revenger with a past forgotten by all but him. He is a figure that stays on the margins whether as Vindice or as Piato irony is central to his manner and his view of life. His own sexual anxieties are evident, paradoxically enough, especially in his test of Gratiana and Castiza and his exuberance and zest in his own actions are reminiscent of a Volpone or Mosca. In the end though, both recognise the essential futility of their actions even while acknowledging its inevitability. Tis time to die when we are ourselves our foes, says Vindice, a phrase that beautifully captures the mental emptiness of revenge. Apart from the protagonists, other characters too are finely sketched. Bel Imperia s character is an intriguing one she is no uni dimensional puppet caught between a dynastic marriage and romantic love. It is clear that she is far from being sexually innocent and in fact, the catalyst in Hieronimo s revenge. She has been read in many different ways but what emerges at the end, is her strength of convictions and her desire to control her own destiny. In The Revenger s Tragedy, ... • 8. Evolution By Natural Selection Evolution is the change of traits of a species over several generations. A famous biologist named Charles Darwin, theorized that evolution happens by natural selection. Many people believe that evolution requires millions of years but scientists believe that evolution can occur rather quickly. In Today s world, we have better health care, food, shelter and hygiene. Some might question if our advanced medicine and technology can lead to a stop in evolution, but in fact we are still evolving according to some scientists (Neild). There has been much debate and controversy over this statement but there is no concrete proof to say that humans are not evolving. In fact, there is evidence that evolution is happening at this very moment. For example,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over the past 30,000 years, human brains have decreased about ten percent which is said to be equivalent to a tennis ball. Wilkens states, Based on skulls found in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, the human brain was about 1,500 cubic centimeters 30,000 years ago, and now it s down to about 1,359 cubic centimeters. It might seem like a slow process but losing that much brain mass can surely affect humans one way or another. Although some people might think that humans are getting dumber because of the shrinking of the brain, some scientists strongly believe that is not the case. There are several theories that explain why this phenomenon is happening. One theory states that humans now tend to rely more on society and smaller brains help us work together. It also states that smaller brains cause humans to be less aggressive, giving us many social advantages (Hullinger). Another and more interesting theory states that the reason behind the loss of the human brain mass is because, Domestication leads to smaller brains. (Alban) Humans learned how to cultivate, find food and shelter. People no longer need to learn survival skills like our ancient ancestors once did which means that that location in our brain in no longer being used. A good example of this are domestic animals. The Archbishop of Canterbury and the King s Treasurer were slaughtered. What had caused this uproar? Had the country become loose due to their 14 year old King? What made the peasants revolt and march to London? The Peasant Uprising began directly after the Black Death. Many of the rich and wealthy land owning owners had been short of workers. To encourage the men and women who survived the plague to work for the manors, the lords had given the peasants their estates their freedom and had set salaries for their labor. The song Gold Digger is about how rich men must always be on guard of women who will manipulate and lie their way into a man s life explicitly for money and possibly fame. Gold Digger, being one of his most popular songs, peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song received 13 nominations for awards and won 4 different awards, one being a Grammy for best solo rap performance. Twin Caverns remade Kanye s hit song in a way that points out how the song can become nearly any type of genre that an artist would want it to be; whether it be rap, soft rock, pop or country music. The original song, however, is meant to be more upbeat and in a rap melody in order for it to attain the best results possible. Twin Caverns were not able to fit the entire original song into their version because of the tempo they set forth. If they had done so the song would be a seven minute song where people would not take the time to listen to the song. This, however, hurt the song tremendously because a lot of what was left out was important to the original story Kanye produced in his song. What made the song so successful was that Twin Caverns delivered an alternative song from the original raunchy rap song to a soothing song that can calm a person. It is also successful because the song is nearly unrecognizable from the original. The reworking that was done to the song, in a way, slows down the world around the listener and makes them take a step back and relax. • 12. An Inspector Calls By J. B. Priestley The play An Inspector Calls by J. B. Priestley tells the story of a wealthy family in 1912 who are holding a celebration when the harsh figure of a police inspector arrives to investigate the suicide of a young woman who used to work at Mr Birling s factory. In the first fifteen pages of the play, Priestley is able to make the Birling family appear extremely confident, whilst also creating subtle tensions, of which the significance later becomes clear. Confidence: In the opening pages of the play, Birling s speeches contain a lot of dramatic irony. For example, he confidently states what he thinks are proven facts which turn out to be false. For example, Birling s response to rumours about a war is to that I say fiddlesticks! and that there isn t a change of war . This is extremely ironic since several years after the play is set, World War I breaks out and after that, before the play is written, World War II follows. Birling later mentions a friend of his who was due to go on the Titanic, and he calls it unsinkable . The Titanic was the height of aristocracy at the time, and was one of the biggest events of the time showing such huge class divide. The dramatic irony is that the Titanic, in fact, sunk, despite its reputation as being unsinkable , and Birling s complacency and confidence causes him to not consider the possibility of this happening. It also makes him appear rather idiotic to the audience. Finally, he describes how Russia will always be behindhand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Ethics Of Using Stem Cells A fairly new area of research has emerged in which scientists are looking into using stem cells for various sources. One of the major problems that arose with this new area of research was the ethics of using embryonic stem cells (ESCs) to conduct research. This brought up problems, especially within the Catholic Church, as to when does life first begin. Taking these undeveloped embryos was seen as taking the life of an unborn child. New insights into this area of research have shed light onto alternative methods of studying using stem cells. This includes the reprogramming of various cells into a state that can be programmed into various tissue types in the body. Of course as promising as this area of research sounds, there are many implications that need to be studied further before scientists are ready to administer such treatment to patients on a large scale. This paper will seek to familiarize readers with stem cells, the idea of pluripotency, what cellular reprogramming is, the benefits and drawbacks of cellular reprogramming, and applications of reprogramming. For starters, a stem cellis an undifferentiated cell that is capable of regenerating itself or becoming induced into a specific tissue or organ for specialized functions under certain physiological functions. All stem cells have the following three things in common: they are capable of renewing and dividing themselves over an extended period of time, they are not specialized, and they are able to give rise ... The attack was a high profile case for a few reasons: the victim was a white woman in an affluent part of Manhattan, and the perpetrators were thought to be a group of young, low class Black and Latino teens from Harlem. Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Yusef Salaam, and Korey Wise were interrogated and manipulated, leading to their arrests and imprisonment for a brutal rape that they did not commit, or even know of initially. • 22. Unmanned Vs. Automated Drones Essay The purpose of this research paper is to explore unmanned or automated drones for the use of package delivery and the impact upon the consumer. Both businesses and consumers have had a significant interest in using machines to do what many consider the manual task of moving items from the seller to the consumer. Banking, telecommunications, and grocery shopping were once thought to require personal interaction to perform transactions. Through innovation, each of these industries has transformed through some form of automation. The shipping industry may be on the precipice of such an evolution. I work in the transportation industry, and there has been significant interest in the use of unmanned vehicles to deliver parcels. I will explore drone technology and the impact to consumers and the logistic industry as drones are used in operations. The reasons vary, but overwhelming demand is originating from retailers that have relied on third party companies to connect products to the buyer. I will also discuss how there will be a continued need for people in the logistics industry. The future of small parcel delivery will eventually include the use of drones rather than relying exclusively on methods dependent on people to deliver items. Small packages are considered bags or boxes that weigh less than twenty pounds, and the average weight in which potential drone operating retailers are focused are those weighing five pounds or less. • 23. Dancing As A World That Did Not Know Dancing Essay Can you image a world that did not know dancing? When I asked this question to my friends, one of them answered, how can we have fun without dancing? People dance when they feel comfortable, and they also can dance when having fun because people, as human beings, have known instinctively that dancing with rhythm makes them happy. It is interesting that people all already know how to dance. However, we might not have an idea why people know how to dance, and where the pleasant feelings that you can get due to dance came from. Without a doubt, dancing was fundamentally not made in the 21st century. It was made and built by ancient people before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Dance does not leave behind clearly identifiable physical artifacts such as stone tools, hunting implements, or cave paintings ( Champion and Thomas, 2). People have danced to pray and communicate with god, and these dances also have been an important part of ceremonies, rituals, celebrations, and entertainment. Even though time passed since dancing began, dance is always about communication among people, and they are required several kinds of dance style to show their expression. One of the dances which people have handed down from the ancient times is folk dance. Folk dance is a form of dance developed by a group of people that reflects the traditional life of the people of a certain country or region. • 31. Beowulf Leadership Analysis In the fantasy world found within the story of Beowulf; Hrothgar, the wise king of the Danes, offers Beowulf some important lessons of leadership. Hrothgar, recognizing Beowulf s nobility and strength, talks to him about how he should act to be a good ruler when he becomes king. The characteristics of good leadershipthat Hrothgar mentions still hold true today, through people like politicians, and business executives. Hrothgar s sermon not only provides an insight into what leaders like these should do, it aims to bring to light what leaders should not do. To Hrothgar, a true leader should not be wicked to their people; rather, they should show kindness and be loved by their people. While talking about a previous ruler of the Danes, Hrothgar tells Beowulf that his rise in the world brought little joy to the Danish people, only death and destruction (McArthur). In order to keep the people happy, it is important to be open to them and generous. Beowulf does this when he becomes king of the Geats by becoming a ring giver to his people (Loughman). For example, after slaying the monster Grendel, Hrothgar rewards Beowulf, with a victory gift, an embroidered banner; also breast mail; and a sword carried high (Post). In today s society, rewarding swords and armor to every staff member at a company is a bit outlandish, nevertheless; business executives can take away from this by rewarding the work that the people of their company put in, rather than ignoring the needs and lives ... Due to the selfish overstepping upon Latin American governments, our discrimination and blame upon immigrants and foreigners as well as patronizing actions like the Cuban embargo and the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, the Colossus of the North has historically been a poor neighbor to Latin American countries. Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy. To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are found below: 2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) 2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl, producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of Hв‚‚O into a previously weighed beaker. The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. • 40. The Complexity Of Friends In The Tv Show The tv show Friends is the most funniest and meaningful sitcom of all time. It is about six friends, three men and three women, who live in the same apartment complex in New York and face life together as a family. This wonderful sitcom displays the real meaning of friendship and loyalty. They live their most crazy, funny, and sad moments together. They help guide and support each other through their tough times. Even though, many people, including myself, may consider the sitcom Friendsas the funniest show ever, many other people disagree; some people think it is boring, not funny, and very predictable. Each of the characters in the sitcom have a funny personality of their own. One of the characters is Monica Geller played by Courteney Cox.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the odd traits about Chandler is that he hates Thanksgiving. When he was nine years old, his parents announced that they were getting a divorce while eating Thanksgiving dinner and also his father was having an affair with the houseboy. As a result, he refuses to celebrate Thanksgiving traditionally and eat Thanksgiving dinner. Another character is Phoebe Buffay. She is played by Lisa Kudrow. Her personality is very outgoing, impulsive, spontaneous, and friendly. She also has an unbelievable imagination; she created a doll house out of shoe boxes with a slide, an aroma room, licorice room, and a bubble machine. Also, she has a weird side which she really shows with her songs. One of her famous songs is called smelly cat. Furthermore, Rachel Green is another character in this great sitcom. She is played by Jennifer Aniston. Rachel is caring, loyal, and dependable. One of the most enjoyable episodes with Rachel is when she sings with Ross, her baby s father, Baby Got Back to her baby daughter to make her laugh. Finally, Ross Geller is one of the characters that I most enjoyed in the sitcom. He is introverted, caring, shy, and trustworthy. In one episode, he wanted to show his friends that he knew how to flirt so he was going to flirt with the pizza delivery girl. Instead Ross ended up talking about different smells of gas with her. All of the characters have different personalities, but that makes their friendship ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Ineffective Postoperative Pain What is postoperative pain? An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage due to surgery... thus pain is what the person says it is, and exists when the person experiencing the pain says it does. Situational Analysis. Approximately 80% of patients who undergo surgery experience acute postoperative pain. With 75% of these patients report post operative pain as moderate, severe or extreme 12,96. In adequate post operative pain management and assessment postpones patient discharge and delays recovery affecting 24% of patients. As a result there are increased readmissions and prolonged length of stays in hospital, and also poor clinical outcomes for the patient. Therefore when acute postoperative pain is improperly managed, it leads to emotional and physiological disorders (Gillaspie, 2010; Polomano et al., 2008), hinder social functioning (Cox, 2010), and may lead to the progression of chronic pain disorders (Dunwoody, Krenzischek, Pasero, Rathmell, Polomano, 2008; Gillaspie, 2010; Gupta, Daigle, Mojica, Hurley, 2009). ... • 42. Hollywood Production Code Essay The film history of Hollywood is an extremely intriguing and intense. The film industry flourished in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film production companies started to be established. It is fascinating how short films displayed in nickelodeons soon developed into feature films shown in luxurious movie palaces across the country. Technology was improving at a fast rate and later on new filmtechniques such as artificial lighting, fire effects and enhanced movie sets were introduced. Films, and Hollywood itself, were distinctly and permanently changed by the technology and innovation presented amid this time. For example, one of the developments that changed Hollywood forever is sound. Silent films vanished as soon as films with sound, better known as talkies were created. Furthermore, around this same time period, individuals possessed immense moral shifts powered by religious groups during the Great Depression, which resulted in decisions that created a new revolution that dealt particularly with the regulation of content of films. Consequently, in 1934, at the same time that the Golden Age of Hollywood began, the Hollywood Production code was formally implemented. Relatively few individuals are knowledgeable about the process and story encompassing the code. However, the analysis of the Pre Code film Baby face can be a valuable tool on the comprehension of the Production Code s direct impact on Hollywood and the reverberations that can ... I ve shadowed directors as much as I could and as long as I could in the hopes of one day getting to direct myself. And that actually came to pass, and the experience was beyond my wildest dreams. It was just incredible. I loved it. I was terrified and just completely overwhelmed the whole time with a combination of sheer terror and pure joy. It was amazing. Then I assume that s something you d like to do more of in the future. Definitely. Definitely. So in addition to directing, are you thinking one day you may do some writing? • 45. The Importance Of Fashion One of the most popular trends all around the world is fashion. Fashion is used to express how someone feels without using words, and it describes the custom or dress of a person. Many people think fashion is not important, but they use it every day. It embraces a person s inner beauty and the way people do things. Fashionis not just clothes or hair styles, it s about how someone feels, how someone acts, and somebody s perspective on fashion. First and foremost, how someone feels is important when it comes to fashion because people want to feel happy and comfortable in their clothes. Clothingimpacts a person s mood, but the outcome is positive. For example, Danielle Armstrong, is usually grumpy in the morning but when she throws on bright and joyful clothing, she tends to feel better than when she woke up. (Hartley) Danielle put on a yellow dress, so she felt happy. Clothing brings joy to many people, but the color must be bright or it could be there favorite color. People who oppose of bright clothing are most likely to be in a bad mood, for example, a girl walks into her class wearing black clothing from head to toe, someone else walks in with a bright red shirt and a big smile on their face, the girl wonders why there so happy, turns out it was because of the color clothing the person had on. (Satenstein) Also, fashion can change a person s entire life around. There are many reasons why this could happen, for example, many people can suffer from depression or anxiety ... • 46. J. P. Morgan s Robber Baron Like any other Robber Baron during the late 1800 s, J.P. Morgan was no different. He controlled finance and industrial consolidation and was well known for being a banker. Credited for being one of the few to shape the U.S., Morgan did have a lust of power and greed, but that doesn t stop him from being America s leading businessman. His impact goes as far as the present with the many companies he created. John Pierpont J.P. Morgan was born to a New England family on April 17, 1837, in Hartford, Connecticut, being in a well known family. James Pierpoint was one of the founders of Yale University, his grandfather founded the Aetna Insurance Company, and his father Junius Spencer Morgan ran a successful Hartford dry goods company before... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But still, during the late 1800 s, much of the country s industries fell into powerful business leaders, including Morgan. He was criticized by everyone for a couple of reasons: he created monopolies by making it difficult for any business to compete against his known as Morganization; even though he was responsible for leading them out of the 1907 financial crisis, he was also claimed by muckraking journalists that he manipulated the nation s financial system for his own gain, as thousands of workers die in his steel factories, and suffered higher casualties than even the Civil war. This earned Morgan the occasional distrust of the federal government as well. But those reasons didn t stop him to be a man who ended up industrializing America with his vast, growing, and substantial companies and financial expertise that just saved the railroads and subdued the country s financial panics. If he also had not fought alongside with Thomas Edison with their DC (Direct Current) against Tesla and Westinghouse s AC (Alternating Current ), the way we use electricity wouldn t be the same today. In conclusion, J.P. Morgan is considered more of a Captain of Industry for today s modern age than a robber baron. America would have been a whole different country without his contributions towards society, especially if he didn t start the many companies and industries during his ... • 47. Gene Regulation For Safety Assessment Gene Regulation for Safety Assessment: In addition to the mph gene, few gene regulations are implemented as safety assessment for the product. In the recombination process of making this product, Ecoli plasmid has been used as a vector to insert mph gene into host bacteria. We use a plasmid vector from E.coli that has conserved sequence for Plac promoter and gef suicide gene. Plac promoter is positioned upstream of mph gene to regulate its expression. Later, Plac promoter will be activated by induction with IPTG. A suicide system in E.coli plasmid vector is used to reduce the potential risk of gene escaping into the environment. Genetic transfer from GM bacteria to other bacteria via trans conjugation will cause unexpected genetic combinations. This method is implemented by using recipient plasmid with suicide gene gef from E.coli, with expression controlled by Pm promoter. Pm promoter sequence, which present upstream of the gef suicide gene will control the expression of gef suicide gene. The suicide system did not interfere with the performance of the GM bacteria until its physiological function was activated by specific signal. In developing this product, we use Methyl Benzoate as the chemical suicide signal. Following the addition of methyl benzoate, the Pm promoter will be activated, and lead to the activation of gef suicide gene. This activates the suicide system of the cells and the cell growth will decreases as the cells die. Plan Methods: These procedures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
