sale of RM 167.0 million and a forced write down of RM 103.1 million on property, plant and

Iliad Gender Roles
Trisha Yearwood said, What s meant to be will always find a way. ; does this statement hold
true? The Iliad, by Homer, and Destino, by Walt Disney and Salvador Dali are similar because the
curious girl in Destino and Helen in The Iliad both choose a partner from many options, there are
stereotypical gender roles present, and there are symbols of hope used.
In both The Iliad and Destino the idea of love and sacrifice is very common. Helen chooses
multiple guys to be her partner and doesn t find the right one until she meets Menelaus and they
get married. When it is time for Helen to get married, many different suitors come from around the
world to bring her gifts and compete for her hand. Forty five men come to compete for her, so she

In The Iliad, the birds represent the armies of men and how there are no strict formations in the
army. The Spartans and Trojans showed no specific way of formation when fighting, which
shows similarity to birds because they do not have a distinct formation when flying. Helen and
her husband are separated when she is kidnapped, and they send an army to save her. The
Spartans and Trojans fight an entire war to save Helen, so her and her husband can be reunited.
Similarly, in Destino there is a wall that seperated the man and the girl and they couldn t be with
each other. The girl released a flock of birds and they flew to the man behind the all. They then
flew out of an exit where the girl and the man found each other. This is similar to The Iliad
because the army finds Helen and she reunites with Menelaus. The birds symbolize hope and they

The Problem Of Water Privatization
Water privatization, the sale and transportation of water supplies to private companies, is becoming
more commonly used and is affecting several populations in negative ways. Jeneen Interlandi, an
author of World Watch Magazine, claims that private companies will not be able to manage water
supplies in an efficient manner and should sale and management of the world s water supplies to
state and local governments (Interlandi). I believe that water privatizationshould indeed be put to an
end because it is causing water prices to up and become less affordable, completely cutting off
water access to several communities, and brings contamination and diseases to villages and the
environment.
Poor and developing countries often turn to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bolivian citizens revolted into a violent protest that ended the water contract. Similar situations are
still happening around the world today. The construction that goes into digging and reaching fresh
water supplies is expensive, so China has become open to foreign investments and has raised
water rates to more than the public can afford to pay for, despite water being a necessity
(Interladi). If not protesting, citizens simply skip buying water or cut down on how much of it they
buy immensely because they cannot afford the high rates (Runyan). My point is that charging
consumers more than they can afford for a necessity does not guarantee profit. Private companies
and investors assume the consumers have to buy a necessity like water, so they immorally take
advantage and force some families to choose between water and other necessities. After paying
more than they can for so long, consumers will simply stop buying and many will even revolt. So
far, private companies main targets have been developing and poor countries since they could use
the financial support to gain funds and improve their infrastructures and communities. According to
Erica Gies, Developing countries are often pushed into water privatization deals against their will
because they need loans from international development agencies. (Gies). Countries with already
developed infrastructures like the United

Porphyry deposits can occur in a variety of settings, an island arc is a distinctive feature of the
Red Chris deposit (Sinclair, W.D., n.d.). The Red Chris deposit displays features of both alkalic
and calc alkalic porphyry deposits. Features like; large tonnage, strong association of copper

Compare And Contrast Ulley And Udney Maria Blakeley
Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known. Oscar Wilde. Women are
wild, sensitive, magnificent, mysterious, and above all: individual. Art s many different medias
allowed artist throughout the ages to capture women at both their strongest and most vulnerable
points. It has the power to capture a woman: as a naГЇve, young girl clutching her brother as they
are painted into a lasting portrait, a golden statue of an angel sent down to Earth to help a saved
man take his first steps into an eternal life with God, to the powerful goddess, Artemis,
transforming a hunter into a deer and having his hunting dogs tragically attack him. The six
pieces of art chosen express the individuality of each women who has walked, walks, and will
walk the earth. The painting Udney Maria Blakeley (1830), by Thomas Sully, was the first
painting that came to mind when assigned the project: the painting has fascinated me both as a
child and an adult due to the beauty of both the woman in the painting, but also from my deeper
understanding of art now. Thomas Sully used the wet medium of oil on canvas, and included the
woman in the foreground of the painting holding a rose in a vase in her right hand. There is a
deep contrast between the women dressed in a white gown, and the darker background of the
painting. Due to the highlighting along the left side of her face, and the shadowing on the right, it
can be assumed that she is facing, or even looking straight at the

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this design project was to investigate the effect of various design and operating
parameters on the thermal efficiency, net work output per unit mass, and back work ratio of a
regenerative Brayton cycle. Specifically, these parameters include the pressure ratio, TminTmax
ratio, regenerator effectiveness, and compressor and turbine efficiencies, assuming the working
fluid to be air at 100kPa and 300K at the compressor inlet. Model calculations are presented ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to their low overall thermal efficiencies, gas turbines initially had limited uses. As time has
passed, many renovations have been implemented to the gas turbine cycle to make it more efficient.
Some modifications include: increasing the turbine inlet temperatures, increasing the efficiencies of
turbo machinery components, and adding modifications to the basic cycle. In contrast to the ideal
cycle, the actual cycle undergoes unavoidable pressure drops during the heat addition and heat
rejection processes. In addition, the actual work input to the compressor is always more than the
output and the actual work output of the turbine is less than the work input due to irreversibility.
These relationships are displayed in the figures below:
Four other common modifications to the simple ideal and actual Brayton cycles include: 1)
Regeneration 2) Reheat 3) Intercooling 4) Regeneration with Reheat and Intercooling
The only methods amongst these choices that improve the overall thermal efficiency of the ideal
Brayton cycle are those that utilize regeneration. However, each of these four improvements also
increase the initial cost of building the equipment as well as the maintenance cost for the cycle.
Thus, deciding which power cycle to build depends on economics as much as it depends on
engineering.

Tragedy In Romeo And Juliet
When Romeo and Juliet, teenagers of rivaling families, fall in love with each other on a
mysterious night, they have to hide their relationship from everyone they know or there d be
terrible consequences. In William Shakespeare s play, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo
and Juliet meet a depressing fate as they both end up committing suicide over what started as a
rumor. Both Romeo s and Juliet s personalities play crucial roles in their ultimate destiny. Romeo
seems to be very impulsive because he acts without getting a chance to think about his actions.
After Mercutio, Romeo s close friend, is slain in a duel by Tybalt, Juliet s cousin, Romeo gets
insanely angered and goes on to kill Tybalt in a vicious fashion. He says Enough... Show more

At times, she can be extremely impatient, dependant and also really hasty. When the nurse went
to go talk to Romeo about him marrying Juliet, Juliet was being really impatient and cursing at
the nurse because she didn t come home yet. The quote I sent the Nurse at nine o clock. Maybe
she can t find him. That can t be. Oh, she s slow! Love s messengers should be thoughts, which
fly ten times faster than sunbeams. exhibits this quality in Juliet. In this line, you can see her
making a problematic situation from nothing and this trait really impacts their ultimate fate. For
example, when she discovered she was to be married to Paris, if she could ve waited for Romeo
to come to Verona, the whole double suicide could ve been avoided. When Juliet discovered that
her father made arrangements to marry her to Paris, she directly goes to Friar Lawrence for
advice, rather than thinking about it herself. Don t tell me that you ve heard about this marriage,
Friar, unless you can tell me how to prevent it. If you who are so wise can t help, please be kind
enough to call my solution wise. (she shows him a knife) . This quote proves that Juliet is not
mature enough to make her own choices, and this reflects on her final decisions because she just
killed herself without thinking about the consequences. Last but not least, Juliet s impulsive
behavior can be seen when she commits suicide

How Did The Enlightenment Influence The Latin American...
The Enlightenment was a movement which focused on logic and individualism instead of tradition
lasting between the 17th and 18th centuries. Ideas from Enlightenment influenced the uprising
within the American colonies, France, and Latin America throughout the 1700 s. Thomas Hobbes
thought the best government should have single ruler. John Lockethought that people should rule
themselves instead of kings. One of the main ideas is that people should be governed by reason, not
by tradition.
The Enlightenment influenced the latin American revolution because people believed they could
stand against the government when they thought the government is doing wrong. People thought if
they had the right to fight, they could change the government. These

Essay on Howard s End by E. M. Forster
Howard s End by E. M. Forster
Howards End by E. M. Forster deals with the conflict of class distinctions and human relationships.
The quintessence of the main theme of this lovely novel is: Only connect!...Only connect the prose
and passion...and human love will be seen at its height.
Live in fragments no longer. This excerpt represents the main idea that Forster carries through the
book: relationships, not social status, are or at least should be the most important thing for
people.Howards End was written in 1910. That explains the naivete and idealism that permeate the
atmosphere of the novel. Written in the beginning of the twentieth century in England about the

Even if the Schlegels belonged to the upper class, and breaking the society into parts were to
benefit them in terms of some mercenary interests, they would still have a strong feeling of
rejection of such a social structure.
Relationships not social position are important for them. It seems that the philosophy of life of the
Wilcox family English through and through should reflect the views of patriotic Forster. However,
it s incorrect. The Schlegel sisters are the protagonists and the Wilcoxes are the antagonists of the
novel not in the sense that they are the bad guys , but in that their philosophy of life is opposite of
Schlegels and, therefore, the author s. Wilcoxes completely approve of the distinction between
classes and are extremely pragmatic. Their snobbism and pragmatism don t leave any chance to the
happy development of the engagement between Helen Schlegel and Paul Wilcox that ultimately
contradicts the main principle that is emphasized throughout the book: Be comrades! The
characters of the novel are believable as long as the author wants them to be believable.
By that I mean that Forster, naturally, wants to create a plausible image of England of that time
and therefore he must try to make the characters look plausible. He is successful in making the
Schlegels and the Wilcoxes look natural enough, but in doing so he does not care about

half of the population. This epidemic iscommon at all ages, in all parts of Australia and throughout
all population groups. It is aworldwide problem and has been observed over the last twenty years in

The most prime example of the Gullah tale in the text is in the foreword section of the novel.
Morrison tells a story of a story where a man named Solomon escapes slavery while at the same
time abandoning his family. This allusion is a connection to the Gullah stories of the slaves who
would fly back to Africa to free themselves. The allusion appears throughout the rest of the novel.
For instance, in the first chapter, an insurance agent by the name of Robert Smith announced
that he would fly off the roof of Mercy, a local hospital, to the other side of Lake Superior. I will
take off from Mercy and fly away on my own wings, he said ( Song of Solomon 3). More
references to flight and the Gullah tale are made in the novel; Song of Solomon ends with the
flight of Milkman Dead off Solomon s Leap. Milkman stopped waving and narrowed his eyes.
He could just make out Guitar s head and shoulders in the dark...Without wiping away the tears,
taking a deep breath, or even bending his knees he leaped (SOS 337). The reference to the tale in
the novel helps to establish equivalence between the characters and the readers. In other words, by
renewing the tale in her novel, the message of the tale becomes more comprehensible to the
readers especially to a new generation of African American readers who can learn about and relate

A Research Study On Drug Testing
When Pharmaceutical companies are trying to develop a new drug they begin the process of a
clinical trial. A clinical trial in drug testing is when researchers test a new drug on live participants
and record information such as side effects and results. Recently, pharmaceutical companies are
trying to increase their profits so they have been outsourcing. Outsourcing is when clinical trials go
to a clinical researchorganization (CRO), which are big businesses. One crucial step in a clinical trial
is informed consent. The participants must know they are part of a research study, the possible
risks, and outcomes. This information should be presented in a manor in which the individual
can understand. However, after watching the videos this crucial step is sometimes overlooked or
not taken seriously during overseas drug testing. Often times testing is done overseas in areas that
are over populated and have a large gap between the wealthy and the poor. When researchers are
conducting the trial they have been known to just completely skip over this step or they give
individuals the information on the clinical trial but the participants are illiterate and unable to
understand any part of it. This is seen as unethical practice. Ethically, all participants are required
to know they are part of a clinical trial and they need to know all risks and outcomes projected
before participating.
When government officials were interviewed about the clinical trials they stated that the

Essay on Gun Control in Canada
Gun Control in Canada Gun Control is an important issue to Canadians. Canada has both
provincial and federal legislation that restricts the sale, purchase, and use of different kinds of
firearms. The United States, on the other hand, do not have federal or state bills restricting the
possession or use of firearms, only local laws exist there. A firearm consists of any barreled
weapon from which a shot, bullet or other missile can be fired and that is capable of causing
serious bodily harm or death. Society s concerns about protection from violent crimes involving
firearms have encouraged Canadian Parliament to pass tougher gun control legislation. The Federal
Government responded by passing Bill C 68 that created the Firearms Act,... Show more content on

In 1892 was the first government step in licensing firearms. A basic permit for pistols was
introduced in the Criminal Code. In 1913 it became a criminal offence to sell or distribute
firearms to anyone under 16 years old. Government finally recognized that children should not
have possession of a firearm. Until 1934 firearm registration was rarely an enforced offence. The
Royal Canadian Mounted Police kept records of those purchasing firearms. Handguns had to be
re registered every five years starting in 1939. It also became an offence to alter the serial
numbers on guns as records were kept and gun transactions were being monitored. 1951 was the
next step in gun control legislation having automatic fire guns added to the list of firearms that
were to be registered. A list to categorize firearms as restricted weapons and prohibited weapons
was created in 1968 ( History of Firearms , 2000). By this time police were become allowed to
search and seize firearms with a judge issued warrant or if they had reasonable grounds that the
safety of the public was at stake. On August 5, 1977 Bill C 51 was given royal assent. This bill
imposed stricter penalties for those convicted of an indictable offence where a firearm had been
used. Bill C 51 also created the requirement of a Firearms Acquisition Certificate (FAC) to
properly screen those purchasing guns and to keep records of firearms purchased. A FAC had to be

To What Extent Should Women Have The Right To Their Own...
Women should have the rights to their own bodies because taking away that right will only lead
to more dangerous paths. Taking the life of a criminal would only be the easy way out, and will
not bring the victims back. Women should have the rights to their own bodies, because I as a
human does not mean that the state can decide what is right for my body. For many years the
government has been arguing whether or not to make abortions illegal, but if that were to
become reality then more back alley abortions would be more popular. Between the 1800 s and
1973, there were 1.2 million illegal abortions and thousands were harmed as a result of illegal
abortions. I and numerous amount of people would agree that allowing women to control whether

Some of the most common arguments include fetuses are a human life, so abortion is murder. This
argument has so many flaws, while technically the feus is a human life if you were to take the fetus
out it would not be able to survive on its own, its life is sustained from the mother. The other
would be that adoption is a viable option. While, that is true and adoption is a great choice but once
you decide to further the pregnancy you will get attached to the child. It is as if many pro lifers do
not take that into consideration that no matter how hard you try to not get attached, you will.
Once you are attached to that child, it will make it so much harder to give up. If you decide to
keep the child, you could be having a child you cannot provide for. While adoption solves a few
situations, abortions solves all of

October 1996 General Conference
Identify General Conference For my course project I chose to review and analyze the sessions of
the October 1996 General Conference. The significant family event that occurred during that year
was the marriage of my parents in July. Some notable events that occurred, in America, around this
time was the US presidential election where Bill Clinton was elected for a second term and NASA
launched the Mars Global Surveyor.
Summary of General Conference One theme, regarding the family, that was referred to various
times throughout this general conference was covenants. A covenant is an agreement between
Heavenly Father and a person or group. Within a covenant there are set conditions that one must

Principles and covenants are received by a covenant. Couples who go to the temple to be sealed,
receive the sealing ordinance and making sacred covenants in the temple. As the couple remains
faithful they will continually receive the blessings of eternal marriage and exaltation. One blessing
of a temple marriage is the assurance that a couples relationship will continue forever if they are
true to their covenants. Covenants are the foundation of an eternal marriage. As stated in the The
Family: A Proclamation to the World, marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God
and that the family is central to the Creator s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. The
greatest joy one can obtain is found in the family. When a man and woman are sealed in the temple
their family can live together for eternity. The covenant of a temple marriage provides eternal

Disadvantages Of Hemostatic Dressings
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), on an average, motor vehicle crashes have
killed about 1.25 million people every year and also it has been observed that 90% of the world
s fatalities on the roads occur in low income and middle income countries. India accounts for
about 10% of road crash fatalities worldwide [45]. The control of hemorrhage (massive bleeding)
is a critical step in first aid and field trauma care. This control is essentially done by applying
pressure, elevation of bleeding site, usage of elastic field dressings, tourniquets and novel
haemostatic dressings [29]. Among these methods, hemostatic dressings are used as last alternative,
but it is the resourceful system of all. In this report, various forms of hemostatic materials and the
products available in the market are reviewed.

Should Darfur Genocide Stay Out
Whether or not Darfur should be assisted due to the genocide occurring there is a highly debated
subject, as you must know. However, I believe that the United States should stay out, because we
need the resources, the assets we send over could be used against those in need, and despite it
being horrible, it is not the worst thing going on in Africa. This issue has not caused everyone to go
running to save them in the past, so why the sudden change?
The United States, as well as other places, receive resources from not only Darfur specifically, but
Africa in general. This region contains numerous things, such as oil, uranium, gun arabic, and other
natural resources. The oil is taken by Chinese banks, which is an essential part of their economy. ...

Evaluation Of A Application For Job Duties
One component on this evaluation that seems to be necessary is the knowledge and knowhow
portion of the evaluation. According to Billie (2008), testing knowledge, skill and ability is
meaningful to the process of assessing progress for job duties (p. 14). Having this understanding it
is possible to see how knowledge and knowhow is an important component of this evaluation form.
It is important to evaluate whether the skill, knowledge and ability the employee possess is being
used properly to help them complete their given task. If the answer is yes, then it can be great to
give positive feedback on how well they are using these components to fulfill their duties.
However, if the answer no then this is a great opportunity to assess whether that employee just does
not have what it takes to fulfill their duties or they need more training to help them learn how to
strengthen their abilities. This section has the ability to be useful because it could help to
determine if there is ROI on the training that is given to employee. If an employee is given the
training between this evaluation and the next evaluation and their knowledge, skill and ability
improves then it could appear that the investment on training was worth it. However, if their
performance fails to improve then it could be seen that there was no ROI.
According to Costello, Clarke, Gravely, D Agostino Rose and Puopolo (2011) a respectful work

Song Of Myself Poem Analysis
As stated above, Song of Myself is one of the original 12 poems from the original publication of
Leaves of Grass that eventually grew to encompass 52 sections of Whitman s expression of what
he believed being an American truly meant in a way that caught to unite all people regardless of
who they were or how they lived their life. The poem is centered around 5 themes, with those 5
being identity, Whitman s vision of an American in which everyone was equal and united as one,
friendship, spirituality, and sexuality.
The first theme, identity, is perhaps the most central theme of the poem, despite the word itself only
appearing in the poem a handful of times. To elaborate, Whitman was drawn to the idea of the
transcendentalist principal of the oversoul the soul that is connected to the souls of everyone on
this earth; in his mind, private experiences and thoughts were nonexistent, instead, he believed
that he experienced the pain and suffering as well as the joys and pleasures of the natural world
and all of its inhabitance because he is connected to them by the oversoul and thereby was at one
with them, or so to speak. This belief is greatly reflected through the poem, although, a good
example of such can be seen in the first section of the poem, in which he states that he celebrates
himself and assumes what you(the reader) shall assume because for every atom belonging to me
as good belonging to you ; when he says he celebrates himself , he is actually referring

When I visited again I gained much more fascination from the site. The area of Collinsville that
the site lies in has not much more than a few fast food restaurants and some gas stations. I first

assumed the mound had eroded over knowing that the mound was so old which would make it
even taller during the time it was erected. When I climbed to the top, I could see the
metropolitan area of St. Louis Missouri. Being on top of the mound gave the feeling of
governing a civilization. I could see many of the other mounds and the people walking to and

The Relation Between Birds and Dinosaurs Essay
The Relation Between Birds and Dinosaurs
One question that has stumped many paleontologists for centuries is, Are birds dinosaurs?
Paleontologists have argued back and forth trying to prove or disprove each side of the theory. So
far, advocates have supported their side through the facts of similar bone structures, bone
organization, and the idea that dinosaurs had feathers. A common reaction that some people might
have about the question is that there is no connection between the two species. Their main
reasoning for this conclusion is based on the belief that the two do not have any similar
characteristics. I too believed that there was no correlation between the two animals. However, after
extensive research, I have completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the dinosaur found in this position is assumed to be warm blooded, another similarity
shared between birds and dinosaurs (Lemmonick 74 par. 1,7).
Some skeptics might argue that there is no possible way that a dinosaur was found in the
crouching position. They might also reason that when a dinosaur dies, it lies down and dies. I
can agree with this statement somewhat, but I have a few reasons for believing that the dinosaur
was discovered in the position they claimed. One idea is that the dinosaur could have been
propped up against a hill or by something big and sturdy. Another explanation for the dinosaur s
position is that the dinosaur could have died in its sleep. To the best of my knowledge, dinosaurs
sleep standing up, or at least they did in all the Jurassic Park movies. There is more logic
supporting the fact that a dinosaur was found in the crouching position than disproving it.
In addition to having similar bone structures, birds and dinosaurs also have hollow bones. Hollow
bones are believed to reduce the weight of animals, which requires less work for flying. In
actuality, the hollowness reduces the weight of the animal by only a minute percentage. Therefore,
it is theorized that hollow bones originated long before flight was introduced. One possible
function of the hollow bones was to cool down the body faster, by allowing air to flow through the
bones. Another practicality for hollow bones is the idea that they could

Importance Of Anglo-Saxon Loyalty In Beowulf
The Anglo Saxons were an interesting people that were loyal to their lord. Each group had a
leader that commanded and directed the warriors. Loyalty was an important part of the Anglo
Saxons culture. In Beowulf, the Anglo Saxons were expected to remain loyal to their leader as he
was responsible for protecting them in battle. The leaders of the Anglo Saxonswere admired for
their courage and determination as they guided the group of warriors in their endeavors. In The
Wife s Lament , the wife remains loyal to her lord even though she is treated harshly by him. She
chased after him when he left, and continued to love him after he ostracized her. As evident in
Beowulfand The Wife s Lament , the Anglo Saxons greatly relied on a noble leader to protect
them from danger and direct them towards success; as a result, the followers were loyal to their
lord by showing reverence and admiration as well as honouring their legacy, even if the lord
neglected to fulfill his duties. Throughout their journey and various battles, Beowulf and Wiglaf
remained loyal to their lords. While in Denmark, Beowulf remains loyal to his king, Higlac, and
the other warriors remain loyal to Beowulf. During his formal boast, Beowulf told his men that
my hands shall fight for me as My lord Higlac, might think less of me (246 270) if he fought with
weapons. Beowulf wanted to impress his lord and not disappoint him in battle. He feared that he

U.s. Government During The Cold War
Tensions during the Cold War sparked many changes in American legislation, altering the way
many lived their lives. One of the most obvious areas of change is in education, with the fear of
Soviet dominance causing transformations across the nation. The severe adjustment of government
education changed the way students learned, the information taught in the classroom, and the
overall view of educationin the eyes of the public in a positive way.
Government Changes:
Summary:
Changes instigated by the U.S. government during the Cold War had a profound effect on the
educational landscape, as they altered how people viewed education, who had access to education,
what they were taught, how they were taught, etc. Although many changes were done on the local
and state level, the most considerable effects are seen after changes were made on the national
scale, in legislations such as the National Defense Education Act of 1958, and in government bodies
such as the Department of Education.
G.I. Bills(1944 1984):
The original G.I. Bill was signed into law in 1944, under the name Serviceman s Readjustment Act.
After WWI, millions of veterans returned home, only to face massive unemployment and a
recession. After WWII, twice as many veterans would return to similar issues if nothing was done.
With the chance of another recession looming, legislators created the Serviceman s Readjustment
Act. The act, which became known as the G.I. Bill, provided $500(about $6,757 today) to veterans

The nomination can then be submitted to the World Heritage Centre for review. Once complete the
file can then be sent to the appropriate Advisory Bodies for evaluation. Two Advisory Bodies, both
of which evaluate a site being nominated, include the International Council on Monuments and
Sites (ICOMOS) and the World Conservation Union (IUCN). These committees provide
evaluations on a site. There is a third Advisory Body known as the International Centre for the
Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), which provides expert
advice as to the conservation of cultural sites, along with training activities. The World Heritage
Committee will then make a final decision on whether a site will receive an inscription. This
committee meets once a year to decide upon nominations, and can defer a request. When a site is
deferred, it is usually because more information is needed from the state party nominating the
location. Standards for selection must include outstanding universal value, and meet a minimum of
one of the ten selection criteria (World Heritage Center, 2013:30 31).

My Career At Florida State University
After completing my bachelor s degree at Florida State University in the fall of 1997, I began
my career at a small hospital in Largo, Florida. I started on a thirty eight bed cardiac/telemetry
unit. I had the fortunate opportunity to orient with a seasoned nurse who loved her career in

inspired and introduced me to critical care and critical thinking. I spent the next three years at
this hospital working in the Coronary Care Unit until deciding to become a travel nurse and see
the country. I began travel nursing with my best friend and we worked in Florida, Washington
D.C., New York and Denver. At all of these locations we worked in the intensive care unit. Each
experience provided a different population and vast new experiences. The hospital in D.C. was
in a low socioeconomic area and my knowledge base of wounds, hypertension and diabetes
improved. I also learned how to let go of some of my own biases and judgments of people
different than myself. In New York, I worked in a large facility on the Upper East Side with a
very different clientele. I worked in the pulmonary/medical intensive care unit and with a varied
population. New York is home to many different cultures and I learned to understand and
appreciate cultural differences. In Denver, we worked at three different metropolitan area hospitals

The United States economy is currently experiencing the worst crisis since the Great Depression
back in the decade that was preceding World War II. The crisis started off from the home
mortgage market, especially the market for so called subprime mortgages, and has already spread
beyond subprime to prime mortgages, commercial real estate, corporate junk bonds, and other
forms of debt. This paper critically illustrates the factors that account for the crisis, who was
affected by this crisis, and how it was spread to the rest of the world.

4.Risk deferral
Historically, commercial banks were to make the mortgage and own them for the entire life of the
mortgage, which forced them to carefully select their borrowers and ensure their credit worthiness
and the likeliness of them keeping up with their mortgage payments. But in the recent decade,
commercial banks started to sell these mortgages to investment banks, which pooled together
hundreds and thousands of mortgages into a mortgage based securities , which then sold them to
hedge funds, pension funds, and even foreign investors. This meant that the main income for the
commercial and investment banks came from selling these mortgages, which meant that the more
mortgages they had to sell, the more income they would be getting. While these mortgage
requirements were getting lower and lower, more people would be borrowing which in turn also
meant that the risks of the final owners of these mortgages were increasing. You may ask why they
still permitted these loans, but since all of these final owners would be owning an extremely large
amount of loans, they wouldn t be able to individually check each loan and ensure that they are
healthy. Therefore, these final investors depended on bond rating agencies to evaluate the risks in
these mortgages and assign ratings to them. But since these rating agencies were privately owned

Why Do People Need Goals To Be Successful In Life
Do people need goals to be successful in life? Goals are important to be successful. The goals I
find important to my success are graduate from high school, go to college to get my cosmetology
license, and then get my CNA license. My first goal is to graduate high school. I know that I need
to graduate high to get my diploma. I want to graduate high schoolso that I can go to college. I am
going to achieve this goalby paying attention in class and listen to the teacher. I am going to work
hard to do my best and stay focused. By doing those two things I will hopefully be able to pass all
my 4 state tests: biology, algebra 1, history, and English 2. I WILL achieve this goal. My second
goal is to go to college to get my cosmetologist license.

The Current State Of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Essay
The Current State of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria
Introduction
The rapid emergence of antimicrobial resistant bacteria is a startling problem facing the medical
community and this problem is only expected to worsen in the coming years1,4. When Sir
Alexander Fleming discovered the first antibiotic, penicillin, in 1928, many proclaimed his finding
as the most important modern medical discovery2,4. Simple infections such as pneumonia could be
treated rather easily despite the fact that such diagnoses could prove to be commonly fatal in the
early 20th century4. Penicillin was also successfully used as a prophylactic treatment to curtail
bacterial infections from overcoming the Allied forces during the second World War2,4. However,
it was only less than a decade later that the first penicillin resistant bacteria were detected and the
once all powerful antibiotic faced a startling Darwinian reminder: ... the history of evolution is
that life escapes all barriers... Life breaks free... Life expands to new territories... Painfully,
perhaps even dangerously... But life finds a way 3. It is due to life s incredible ability to evolve
and adapt that we find ourselves in a state of nervousness and apprehension about the post antibiotic
apocalypse that is approaching ever so rapidly. In its most recent report, the World Economic Forum
Global Risk committee listed antibiotic resistance as one of the greatest threats to human health5. In
the United States alone, is is estimated that over

Rhetoric 101
The Longest Yard
(Stereotypes and all)
What our society has become truly amazes me every day. The things we watch and enjoy as a
culture are sometimes highly offense. I choose to look at the movie The Longest Yard for an in
depth look at stereotypes in our society. After watching and studying this movie I can only ask
myself one question: What have we become? The Longest Yard is a movie about a former NFL
MVP quarterback (played by Adam Sandler) jailed for joyriding his girlfriend s car. Crewe
(Sandler) is forced by the jail s warden to create a football team to play the very guards that lord
over them. Yes, The Longest Yard movie was very funny and entertaining to many audiences, but it
featured many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet the movie depicts the guard s team as thus. They are all of Caucasian descent and act like the
stereotypical white male athlete. They curse, take steroids, and readily look for reasons to attack
the inmates. There is, yet again, another hidden stereotype. Do all Caucasian athletes act that way?
Not at all, for everyone is different and nobody is the same person. The guards in The Longest
Yard are also aggressively racist. They look to attack the black males of the prisonat all times and
act in any way to evoke a response from them. Yet this movie still can make anyone laugh. The
overly aggressive nature of the guards is so unrealistic that many audiences found it hysterical.
Maybe this is why the inmates of the movie were even funnier to watch.
The inmates in the prison are very comical to watch and study. They are portrayed heavily as
uneducated idiots. One side character in the movie sees a sign for football try outs and says, What
are football tree outs? this brings a great laughter from the audience as it is a funny portrayal of
prison stupidity. This truth is that no prison s inmates are that uneducated for they have libraries
and education materials in almost all prisons. The inmates, not unlikely the guards, show very
aggressive and vengeful attitudes and play with much anger during the game. You can see this in
Crewe s intro in the prison. He is stared at intensively by everyone in the prison and treated harshly.

Approximately How Much Water Do You Need Each Day to Stay...
Chapter 9
1)Approximately how much water do you need each day to stay healthy?
Water constitutes 50% to 70% of the human body. Its unique chemical properties enable it to
dissolve substances as well as serve as medium for chemical reactions, temperature regulation and
lubrication (found in the knees and other joints of the body); it also aids in regulating the acid
base balance in the body. It helps remove waste from the body and is the basis for saliva, bile and
amniotic fluid.
It is clear that obtaining the proper daily intake of water is extremely important. For adults daily
water needs are estimated at 2.7 liters (11 cups) for adult women to 3.7 liters (15 cups) for adult
men, total water is a combination of fluids and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3)Identify four factors that influence the bioavailability of minerals from food.
Food supplies us with many minerals, but the way in which our bodies are able to absorb them
varies. The degree to which ingested nutrient is absorbed from food sources and is available to
our body is called bioavailability. The bioavailability of minerals depends on many factors. The
mineral content listed in food composition table for amount of a mineral in a food is just a starting
point for estimating the actual contribution the food will make to our mineral needs. For example
spinach contains much calcium but only 5% can be absorbed because of the vegetables high
concentration of oxalic acid, a calcium binder. Usually 25% of calcium is absorbed by adults.
Minerals from animal products are absorbed better as binders such as fiber in plant foods are not
present to hinder absorption. The mineral content of plants greatly depends on mineral
concentrations of the soil in which they are grown. Refined plant food has a lower content of
minerals.
Four factors that influence bioavailability of minerals from food are outlined below:
Fiber Mineral Interactions: Components of fiber, particularly phytic acid in grain fiber can limit
absorption of some

There is no known cause of schizophrenia, although some psychologists believe that it could be
caused by heredity, or biological and environmental factors, such as a disease, immune deficiency
disorder, or having an abusive or erroneous childhood. There are multiple signs and symptoms of
schizophrenia, including hearing or seeing something that doesn t exist, a change in personality, an
obsession with religion and other supernatural entities, eccentric ways of communicating, and
behavior that is deemed odd or inappropriate. As with some other mental disorders, schizophrenia is
a spectrum. This spectrum includes schizotypal personality disorder, other psychotic disorders like
catatonia, delusional disorder, schizophreniform disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and brief
psychotic disorder. There is no known cure for schizophrenia, but people with schizophrenia can
seek treatment with therapy, medication, or both. Schizotypal personality disorder is on the
spectrum of schizophrenia because its symptoms coincide with those of schizophrenia. For
example, schizotypal personality disorder shares the symptoms of peculiar behavior, odd beliefs
(believing in magic and superstition), strange thinking and speech, ideas of reference, and
inappropriate actions. STPD also differs from schizophrenia, however, because of symptoms such

The Story Of Cinderella
Rewrite a fairy tale from the perspective of one of the minor character in the story.
Once upon a time, there was a little house that lived in the forest not too far from the king s castle.
Hello, my name is Anna one of Cinderella s stepsisters and my other sister is Rose. You must have
heard that in the store of Cinderella that we are the evil stepsisters in the story. Well now I am
going to write a story about how nice we are and that we are not evil. One day Cinderella s father
had passed and my beautiful mother brought her into our house to do some chores around the
house. So, Cinderella got to work on the chores, making dinner for my mother and me and my
sister. We saved some for Cinderella while she was cleaning up she was eating the food that she
made. One day we all got an invention to the prince s ball tomorrow night. So that day we went
out to shop for some ball gown dresses. The night of the prince s ball we all got ready to go meet
the prince so that he can pick out a bride for himself and we all were so excited. The mother told
Cinderella to stay home and finish up the chores for when we get back from the ball. So, I and
mother and Rose left for the ball leaving Cinderella at home to work on the chores. When we all
got to the ball there was a lot of people there for the prince s ball, but I went up to talk with the
prince and maybe dance with him, but all of sudden everyone looked and there was a beautiful
princess walking down to the floor. The prince

Beauty As A Standard Of Beauty Analysis
Given the societal view of whiteness as a standard of beauty, both Maureen Peal and Pecola
Breedlove struggle with distorted self perceptions and self hatred. Ultimately able to project
both her hatred and her insecurities elsewhere, Maureen is able to bloom despite adversity.
Pecola, however, internalizes the hatred at the hands of others and is left only to wither.
Despite her efforts to beautify her appearance through the use of expensive attire, Maureen Peal
is unable to change the color of her skin. Consequently, she is unable to live up to society s
standard of beauty, defined by whiteness. A young girl with a light dark complexion, Maureen
Peal adopts a distorted self perception from an early age, as she has been conditioned by society
to view her blackness as inferiority. Wearing expensive clothing, Maureen tries to compensate
for what society perceives as a lack of beauty, Fluffy sweaters the color of lemon drops tucked
into skirts with pleats so orderly they astounded us. Brightly colored knee socks with white
borders, a brown velvet coat trimmed in white rabbit fur, and a matching muff (62). Wearing
brightly colored clothing, Maureen reminds her classmates of springtime. Adorned in vibrant knee
socks and fluffy sweaters, Maureen is admired by her peers. Her clothing is orderly, establishing a
sense of control that her classmates can only dream of. However, not even Maureen s expensive
clothing can change the fact that her skin is black. From the very first

Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream
The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality
to fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American
Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to
Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an
easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was
not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start
of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right.
With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and
broken, including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the
highest recorded speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles
Lindbergh set off from New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully
complete the journey. Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved,
Charles A Lindbergh embodied the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did.
Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles
Augustus Lindbergh and Evangeline Lodge Land. His family was from Minnesota, where he grew
up. As a child, he frequently visited his father in Washington, D.C., as his father served in the U.S.
Congress. But even

Midwifery Care Shortage Essay
Introduction
There is a predicted midwifery workforce shortage (The Department of Health, 2013). To address
this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to
their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department
of Health and Ageing, 2010).
This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived
experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience.
From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the
risk mitigated.
Contextual review
The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model
(Owens, et al., 2016).
The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their
local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically
employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing,
postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many
metropolitan Australian midwives.
Literature review
A literature review was undertaken in August and September 2016 through Queensland University
of Technology (QUT) library service to ascertain if this experience has been studied and to identify
other similar studies and how they were designed.
The first search used the key words: midwife experiences

Essay Josef Ackermann leadership style
Portfolio Essay: Final Draft
Josef Ackermann (Deutsche Bank/Germany)
Using Darling and Leffel s (2010) framework, this essay will evaluate on how Josef Ackermann
demonstrated his leadership style as a Swiss banker, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of
Deutsche Bank and Chairman of Zurich Insurance.
As defined by Peter Northouse (2001), leadership is a process, in which an individual influences a
group to achieve a common goal. And to achieve that goal, a visionary leader should put forth
much effort to critically apply his leadership skills and knowledge. In general, leadership is more
than management. To be successful, a leader has to be strategic, show motivation and innovation,
and should be flexible and focused ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of his biggest goals was turning Deutsche Bank into one of the world s top three advisers on
mergers and acquisitions and returning its status to the top ten in market value (Guyon , 2004).
As a Director level leader, Josef Ackermann has been well regarded and recognised by many as a
successful and effective manager and leader, shifting the style of management from a conventional
mode to one that focused on the needs of shareholders and on international expansion (Mitchell,
2010). According to Lussier and Achua (2010), leaders such as Ackermann are able to take swift
and decisive action, even in the most difficult situations, and take calculated risks while persevering
in the face of failure. Strong communication skills, self confidence, the ability to manage others and
willingness to embrace change also characterize a successful leader.
Ackermann has also been a member of the influential Washington based financial advisory body, the
Group of Thirty and also served on other company boards, including Bayer AG, Deutsche Lufthansa
AG, Linde, Mannesman, and Siemens AG. Ackermann changed the distribution of power within
Deutsche Bank, resulting in criticism from traditionalists and praise from those who shared his
global focus, allowing him to become the most powerful man in Germany s financial industry
(Loades Carter, 2005). Ackermann successful steered his bank through the 2008 global financial
crisis. Quoted in his speech before the Atlantic Council, Germany will

My Experience at Flagler College
As I reflect on my professional growth, I have also come a long way. When I consider where I
was at professionally, to where I am at now, my mind goes back to one event specifically; my
mock parent teacher conference. This was an assignment given to me in my 2nd semester of
coursework at Flagler College. For this assignment, we were expected to explain FCAT scores
to the parents (professors and other faculty posing as parents) of the student we were given
background information on previously. I was nervous after merely hearing about this assignment
because I have always struggled with speaking out loud when I am feeling anxious. During that
interview, it did not go at all how I planned; I was hysterical. Let it be known, I am not referring
to solely hysterically nervous, but to my embarrassment looking back, hysterically nervous on top
of hysterically crying. However, although it is a bit embarrassing, I am very thankful I had that
experience because after I walked out of that interview, I knew my weak area. I knew I needed to
work on in the improvement of my communicationskills and from that point on, that s just what I
did. In my most recent practicum experience at Chiles High School, there were two separate
occasions where I interacted with the parents of students. On one of those occasions, I was asked
to explain an assignment and share student results with the parent. That day, after my advising
teacher told me, I couldn t have said it better myself , I left the

Power Of Education In The Great Gatsby
October 5, 2014
For centuries, the world has favored those who are in possession of a higher intelligence.
Historically, ruling classes were composed of educated nobles or trained workers, the few who
had been able to receive an education. Education in developed countries is often included in the
basic rights to which every human should have access. Its importance has been the focal point of
countless movements, all petitioning for the opportunity of schooling for lower class citizens. The
United States of America, though it has experienced significant changes in regards to the literacy
of all citizens, did not do so without difficulty. The two most notable groups to fight for the right to
equal education had to struggle for years to obtain their goals. African Americans had little to no
rights until the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, and even then, only males were allowed to
read and write. Women did not begin attending college in equal numbers to men until as recently as
1980. The strong correlation between power and education makes possessing a sound education a
valuable asset and highly sought after. Education s role in society is a prevalent theme throughout
Scott F. Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby. Tom s supremacy through education and wealth contrasts
heavily with Gatsby s lack of knowledge, creating tension within the novel between the two
opposing men.
Tom Buchanan flaunts the power he holds over Daisy and Myrtle. Not only does he acquire
economic power, but

American Of British Policies After 1775
nformative Writing
American Resistance to British Policies before 1775
There were several ways in which the American Colonies resisted Imperial policy before 1775,
which led to the American Revolution. Britain s taxation and infringement of basic rights of the
colonists unified the colonies. Many significant events, including the Stamp Act, the Intolerable Acts
, the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party, occurred before 1775.
In 1764, the British Parliament, under Prime Minister George Grenville, passed the Sugar Act, to
raise tax revenue for the Crown. Sugar from the West Indies was taxed. Colonists protested the
increased tax. After taxes on foreign sugar were lowered, protests were refueled by the Quartering
Act of 1765. This act required colonists to provide housing and food to British soldiers.
The next financial crisis for the colonists happened when Parliament enacted the Stamp Act. The
Stamp Act imposed a tax on commercial and legal documents. Marriage licences, newspapers, and
diplomas were included in the Stamp Act. The colonists formed the Stamp Act Congress, in which
nine of the colonies were represented by 27 leaders. At this point the colonists started to come
together when they realized that they were battling a common enemy. The colonists banded
together and stopped buying British goods. This angered British merchants and they too protested
the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was repealed in 1766. The next tax imposed was the Townshend Tea

  • 3. Iliad Gender Roles Trisha Yearwood said, What s meant to be will always find a way. ; does this statement hold true? The Iliad, by Homer, and Destino, by Walt Disney and Salvador Dali are similar because the curious girl in Destino and Helen in The Iliad both choose a partner from many options, there are stereotypical gender roles present, and there are symbols of hope used. In both The Iliad and Destino the idea of love and sacrifice is very common. Helen chooses multiple guys to be her partner and doesn t find the right one until she meets Menelaus and they get married. When it is time for Helen to get married, many different suitors come from around the world to bring her gifts and compete for her hand. Forty five men come to compete for her, so she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Iliad, the birds represent the armies of men and how there are no strict formations in the army. The Spartans and Trojans showed no specific way of formation when fighting, which shows similarity to birds because they do not have a distinct formation when flying. Helen and her husband are separated when she is kidnapped, and they send an army to save her. The Spartans and Trojans fight an entire war to save Helen, so her and her husband can be reunited. Similarly, in Destino there is a wall that seperated the man and the girl and they couldn t be with each other. The girl released a flock of birds and they flew to the man behind the all. They then flew out of an exit where the girl and the man found each other. This is similar to The Iliad because the army finds Helen and she reunites with Menelaus. • 4. The Problem Of Water Privatization Water privatization, the sale and transportation of water supplies to private companies, is becoming more commonly used and is affecting several populations in negative ways. Jeneen Interlandi, an author of World Watch Magazine, claims that private companies will not be able to manage water supplies in an efficient manner and should sale and management of the world s water supplies to state and local governments (Interlandi). I believe that water privatizationshould indeed be put to an end because it is causing water prices to up and become less affordable, completely cutting off water access to several communities, and brings contamination and diseases to villages and the environment. Poor and developing countries often turn to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bolivian citizens revolted into a violent protest that ended the water contract. Similar situations are still happening around the world today. The construction that goes into digging and reaching fresh water supplies is expensive, so China has become open to foreign investments and has raised water rates to more than the public can afford to pay for, despite water being a necessity (Interladi). If not protesting, citizens simply skip buying water or cut down on how much of it they buy immensely because they cannot afford the high rates (Runyan). My point is that charging consumers more than they can afford for a necessity does not guarantee profit. Private companies and investors assume the consumers have to buy a necessity like water, so they immorally take advantage and force some families to choose between water and other necessities. After paying more than they can for so long, consumers will simply stop buying and many will even revolt. So far, private companies main targets have been developing and poor countries since they could use the financial support to gain funds and improve their infrastructures and communities. According to Erica Gies, Developing countries are often pushed into water privatization deals against their will because they need loans from international development agencies. (Gies). Countries with already developed infrastructures like the United ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Compare And Contrast Ulley And Udney Maria Blakeley Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known. Oscar Wilde. Women are wild, sensitive, magnificent, mysterious, and above all: individual. Art s many different medias allowed artist throughout the ages to capture women at both their strongest and most vulnerable points. It has the power to capture a woman: as a naГЇve, young girl clutching her brother as they are painted into a lasting portrait, a golden statue of an angel sent down to Earth to help a saved man take his first steps into an eternal life with God, to the powerful goddess, Artemis, transforming a hunter into a deer and having his hunting dogs tragically attack him. The six pieces of art chosen express the individuality of each women who has walked, walks, and will walk the earth. The painting Udney Maria Blakeley (1830), by Thomas Sully, was the first painting that came to mind when assigned the project: the painting has fascinated me both as a child and an adult due to the beauty of both the woman in the painting, but also from my deeper understanding of art now. Thomas Sully used the wet medium of oil on canvas, and included the woman in the foreground of the painting holding a rose in a vase in her right hand. There is a deep contrast between the women dressed in a white gown, and the darker background of the painting. • 10. Regenerative Brayton Cycle Analysis MAE 336 (Power Plant Design) Design Project 1: Regenerative Brayton Cycle Date Submitted: 4/02/2012 Garrett Kinsel ID#: 003800821 Mon/Wed 9:00am 11:15am Instructor: Dr. Torabzadeh, Ph.D. ABSTRACT The purpose of this design project was to investigate the effect of various design and operating parameters on the thermal efficiency, net work output per unit mass, and back work ratio of a regenerative Brayton cycle. Specifically, these parameters include the pressure ratio, TminTmax ratio, regenerator effectiveness, and compressor and turbine efficiencies, assuming the working fluid to be air at 100kPa and 300K at the compressor inlet. Model calculations are presented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to their low overall thermal efficiencies, gas turbines initially had limited uses. As time has passed, many renovations have been implemented to the gas turbine cycle to make it more efficient. Some modifications include: increasing the turbine inlet temperatures, increasing the efficiencies of turbo machinery components, and adding modifications to the basic cycle. In contrast to the ideal cycle, the actual cycle undergoes unavoidable pressure drops during the heat addition and heat rejection processes. In addition, the actual work input to the compressor is always more than the output and the actual work output of the turbine is less than the work input due to irreversibility. These relationships are displayed in the figures below: Four other common modifications to the simple ideal and actual Brayton cycles include: 1) Regeneration 2) Reheat 3) Intercooling 4) Regeneration with Reheat and Intercooling The only methods amongst these choices that improve the overall thermal efficiency of the ideal Brayton cycle are those that utilize regeneration. However, each of these four improvements also increase the initial cost of building the equipment as well as the maintenance cost for the cycle. Thus, deciding which power cycle to build depends on economics as much as it depends on engineering. A

However, it s incorrect. The Schlegel sisters are the protagonists and the Wilcoxes are the antagonists of the novel not in the sense that they are the bad guys , but in that their philosophy of life is opposite of Schlegels and, therefore, the author s. According to Billie (2008), testing knowledge, skill and ability is meaningful to the process of assessing progress for job duties (p. 14). Having this understanding it is possible to see how knowledge and knowhow is an important component of this evaluation form. It is important to evaluate whether the skill, knowledge and ability the employee possess is being used properly to help them complete their given task. If the answer is yes, then it can be great to give positive feedback on how well they are using these components to fulfill their duties. However, if the answer no then this is a great opportunity to assess whether that employee just does not have what it takes to fulfill their duties or they need more training to help them learn how to strengthen their abilities. This section has the ability to be useful because it could help to determine if there is ROI on the training that is given to employee. If an employee is given the training between this evaluation and the next evaluation and their knowledge, skill and ability improves then it could appear that the investment on training was worth it. Song Of Myself Poem Analysis As stated above, Song of Myself is one of the original 12 poems from the original publication of Leaves of Grass that eventually grew to encompass 52 sections of Whitman s expression of what he believed being an American truly meant in a way that caught to unite all people regardless of who they were or how they lived their life. The poem is centered around 5 themes, with those 5 being identity, Whitman s vision of an American in which everyone was equal and united as one, friendship, spirituality, and sexuality. The first theme, identity, is perhaps the most central theme of the poem, despite the word itself only appearing in the poem a handful of times. To elaborate, Whitman was drawn to the idea of the transcendentalist principal of the oversoul the soul that is connected to the souls of everyone on this earth; in his mind, private experiences and thoughts were nonexistent, instead, he believed that he experienced the pain and suffering as well as the joys and pleasures of the natural world and all of its inhabitance because he is connected to them by the oversoul and thereby was at one with them, or so to speak. This belief is greatly reflected through the poem, although, a good example of such can be seen in the first section of the poem, in which he states that he celebrates himself and assumes what you(the reader) shall assume because for every atom belonging to me as good belonging to you ; when he says he celebrates himself , he is actually referring ... So far, advocates have supported their side through the facts of similar bone structures, bone organization, and the idea that dinosaurs had feathers. A common reaction that some people might have about the question is that there is no connection between the two species. Their main reasoning for this conclusion is based on the belief that the two do not have any similar characteristics. I too believed that there was no correlation between the two animals. However, after extensive research, I have completely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the dinosaur found in this position is assumed to be warm blooded, another similarity shared between birds and dinosaurs (Lemmonick 74 par. 1,7). Some skeptics might argue that there is no possible way that a dinosaur was found in the crouching position. They might also reason that when a dinosaur dies, it lies down and dies. I can agree with this statement somewhat, but I have a few reasons for believing that the dinosaur was discovered in the position they claimed. One idea is that the dinosaur could have been propped up against a hill or by something big and sturdy. Another explanation for the dinosaur s position is that the dinosaur could have died in its sleep. To the best of my knowledge, dinosaurs sleep standing up, or at least they did in all the Jurassic Park movies. There is more logic supporting the fact that a dinosaur was found in the crouching position than disproving it. In addition to having similar bone structures, birds and dinosaurs also have hollow bones. Hollow bones are believed to reduce the weight of animals, which requires less work for flying. In actuality, the hollowness reduces the weight of the animal by only a minute percentage. Therefore, it is theorized that hollow bones originated long before flight was introduced. One possible function of the hollow bones was to cool down the body faster, by allowing air to flow through the bones. Another practicality for hollow bones is the idea that they could ... • 34. U.s. Government During The Cold War Tensions during the Cold War sparked many changes in American legislation, altering the way many lived their lives. One of the most obvious areas of change is in education, with the fear of Soviet dominance causing transformations across the nation. The severe adjustment of government education changed the way students learned, the information taught in the classroom, and the overall view of educationin the eyes of the public in a positive way. Government Changes: Summary: Changes instigated by the U.S. government during the Cold War had a profound effect on the educational landscape, as they altered how people viewed education, who had access to education, what they were taught, how they were taught, etc. Although many changes were done on the local and state level, the most considerable effects are seen after changes were made on the national scale, in legislations such as the National Defense Education Act of 1958, and in government bodies such as the Department of Education. G.I. Bills(1944 1984): The original G.I. Bill was signed into law in 1944, under the name Serviceman s Readjustment Act. After WWI, millions of veterans returned home, only to face massive unemployment and a recession. After WWII, twice as many veterans would return to similar issues if nothing was done. With the chance of another recession looming, legislators created the Serviceman s Readjustment Act. The act, which became known as the G.I. Bill, provided $500(about $6,757 today) to veterans ... I spent the next three years at this hospital working in the Coronary Care Unit until deciding to become a travel nurse and see the country. Each experience provided a different population and vast new experiences. The hospital in D.C. was in a low socioeconomic area and my knowledge base of wounds, hypertension and diabetes improved. I also learned how to let go of some of my own biases and judgments of people different than myself. In New York, I worked in a large facility on the Upper East Side with a very different clientele. But in the recent decade, commercial banks started to sell these mortgages to investment banks, which pooled together hundreds and thousands of mortgages into a mortgage based securities , which then sold them to hedge funds, pension funds, and even foreign investors. This meant that the main income for the commercial and investment banks came from selling these mortgages, which meant that the more mortgages they had to sell, the more income they would be getting. While these mortgage requirements were getting lower and lower, more people would be borrowing which in turn also meant that the risks of the final owners of these mortgages were increasing. You may ask why they still permitted these loans, but since all of these final owners would be owning an extremely large amount of loans, they wouldn t be able to individually check each loan and ensure that they are healthy. The Current State Of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Essay The Current State of Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria Introduction The rapid emergence of antimicrobial resistant bacteria is a startling problem facing the medical community and this problem is only expected to worsen in the coming years1,4. When Sir Alexander Fleming discovered the first antibiotic, penicillin, in 1928, many proclaimed his finding as the most important modern medical discovery2,4. Simple infections such as pneumonia could be treated rather easily despite the fact that such diagnoses could prove to be commonly fatal in the early 20th century4. Penicillin was also successfully used as a prophylactic treatment to curtail bacterial infections from overcoming the Allied forces during the second World War2,4. However, it was only less than a decade later that the first penicillin resistant bacteria were detected and the once all powerful antibiotic faced a startling Darwinian reminder: ... the history of evolution is that life escapes all barriers... The guards in The Longest Yard are also aggressively racist. They look to attack the black males of the prisonat all times and act in any way to evoke a response from them. Yet this movie still can make anyone laugh. The overly aggressive nature of the guards is so unrealistic that many audiences found it hysterical. Maybe this is why the inmates of the movie were even funnier to watch. The inmates in the prison are very comical to watch and study. They are portrayed heavily as uneducated idiots. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right. To address this, the Australian Government has been implementing measures to support midwives to work to their full scope of practice including increasing midwifery care in community settings (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010). This research proposal aims to understand and interpret metropolitan hospital based lived experience of providing extramural midwifery care after hospital based midwifery experience. From this understanding any issues that impact negatively on midwives may be identified and the risk mitigated. Contextual review The majority of maternity care is provided within a hospital setting and within a medical model (Owens, et al., 2016). The Australian Government policy is to increase women s access to midwifery care within their local community (Department of Health and Ageing, 2010) however the majority of publically employed metropolitan midwives are siloed into discrete areas of practice (antenatal, birthing, postnatal care and home visiting). Providing care outside of a hospital setting is new to many metropolitan Australian midwives. • 53. My Experience at Flagler College As I reflect on my professional growth, I have also come a long way. When I consider where I was at professionally, to where I am at now, my mind goes back to one event specifically; my mock parent teacher conference. This was an assignment given to me in my 2nd semester of coursework at Flagler College. For this assignment, we were expected to explain FCAT scores to the parents (professors and other faculty posing as parents) of the student we were given background information on previously. I was nervous after merely hearing about this assignment because I have always struggled with speaking out loud when I am feeling anxious. During that interview, it did not go at all how I planned; I was hysterical. Let it be known, I am not referring to solely hysterically nervous, but to my embarrassment looking back, hysterically nervous on top of hysterically crying. However, although it is a bit embarrassing, I am very thankful I had that experience because after I walked out of that interview, I knew my weak area. I knew I needed to work on in the improvement of my communicationskills and from that point on, that s just what I did. In my most recent practicum experience at Chiles High School, there were two separate occasions where I interacted with the parents of students. On one of those occasions, I was asked to explain an assignment and share student results with the parent. That day, after my advising teacher told me, I couldn t have said it better myself , I left the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Power Of Education In The Great Gatsby October 5, 2014 For centuries, the world has favored those who are in possession of a higher intelligence. Historically, ruling classes were composed of educated nobles or trained workers, the few who had been able to receive an education. Education in developed countries is often included in the basic rights to which every human should have access. Its importance has been the focal point of countless movements, all petitioning for the opportunity of schooling for lower class citizens. The United States of America, though it has experienced significant changes in regards to the literacy of all citizens, did not do so without difficulty. The two most notable groups to fight for the right to equal education had to struggle for years to obtain their goals. African Americans had little to no rights until the Emancipation Proclamation in 1865, and even then, only males were allowed to read and write. Women did not begin attending college in equal numbers to men until as recently as 1980. The strong correlation between power and education makes possessing a sound education a valuable asset and highly sought after. Education s role in society is a prevalent theme throughout Scott F. Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby. Tom s supremacy through education and wealth contrasts heavily with Gatsby s lack of knowledge, creating tension within the novel between the two opposing men. Tom Buchanan flaunts the power he holds over Daisy and Myrtle. Not only does he acquire economic power, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Field Hockey Practice At Phillips Exeter Academy As we are lining up for drills in field hockey practice, one of my coaches, Marissa, looks over at me and asks, Who is that all the way across the field in those red tights? (B+) I respond, Of course it is Casey, who else has as much team spirit that they would wear those tights to practice?. Casey is dressed in red, metallic tights underneath a white skirt with a vibrant, blue long sleeve t shirt; our spirit dress at practice is America in order to get excited for our game tomorrow at Phillips Exeter Academy. Since Casey is about 100 yards away from me, on the other side of the field, I can only manage to make out her tights. I cannot help but smile when I look this enthusiastic outfit, even though all I can see is metallic tights... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sarah Plumb and Marissa Gedman come over to tell us to go sit in a circle in the middle of the field, giving Casey and Maura space. Not wanting to leave Casey s side, I reluctantly walk over to the middle of the field. As I am walking away, my legs feel heavy and unreliable while they wobble beneath me. Some of my teammates begin yelling to the trainers at the soccer field above to come quickly and that it is an emergency. Almost instantaneously, I hear the zooming of the trainer s golf cart come rushing over. My legs keep walking away from Casey, even though it is not what I want them to do. I reach the circle of my teammates, and I slowly lower myself to the ground. I sit cross legged with a glare fixed on the ground in front of me; the forest green, artificial grass pokes through the densely packed, black, rubber pellets. I pull at pieces of this grass and fiddle with the rubber pellets, pushing them into my sweaty palm and seeing if they will leave indentations. I continue to do this as I see the coaches come over to update us, Girls, we want to warn you that we will have to call an ambulance, but we are hoping it is just an allergic reaction that Casey is having. My eyes start to well with tears of confusion and anger. I begin to fiercely pull the artificial grass apart to relieve my frustrations. My vision remains fixated on the turf, and I am lost in my own thoughts as I question the situation around me for some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. American Of British Policies After 1775 nformative Writing American Resistance to British Policies before 1775 There were several ways in which the American Colonies resisted Imperial policy before 1775, which led to the American Revolution. Britain s taxation and infringement of basic rights of the colonists unified the colonies. Many significant events, including the Stamp Act, the Intolerable Acts , the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party, occurred before 1775. In 1764, the British Parliament, under Prime Minister George Grenville, passed the Sugar Act, to raise tax revenue for the Crown. Sugar from the West Indies was taxed. Colonists protested the increased tax. After taxes on foreign sugar were lowered, protests were refueled by the Quartering Act of 1765. This act required colonists to provide housing and food to British soldiers. The next financial crisis for the colonists happened when Parliament enacted the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act imposed a tax on commercial and legal documents. Marriage licences, newspapers, and diplomas were included in the Stamp Act. The colonists formed the Stamp Act Congress, in which nine of the colonies were represented by 27 leaders. At this point the colonists started to come together when they realized that they were battling a common enemy. The colonists banded together and stopped buying British goods. This angered British merchants and they too protested the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act was repealed in 1766. The next tax imposed was the Townshend Tea ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
