Tun Dr Mahathir Personality
Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad Born in Seberang Perak, Alor Setar, Kedah, Tun Dr Mathatir is
the youngest among nine siblings. He was educated at the Perak Seberang Perak School in 1930
for 2 years. He pursued secondary education at Government English School, Alor Setar, now
known as the Sultan Hamid College after entering the transition class for a year at Cambridge High
School s outstanding achievement in 1945.The title of modernity father was given to him as he had

Mahathir s involvement in politics actually started when he became a SABERKAS member
(Imagine the Nation of What Victims Only) in Kedah. Because SUBERKAS is an UMNO
linked body, Dr Mahathir automatically became a member of UMNO when it was set up on
May 11, 1946. However, in the early stages he was somewhat disliked by some state UMNO
leaders at that time because of his over progressive and predictive thinking time. Among the
controversial proposals rejected by UMNO Kedah is that he proposes that all candidates who
wish to contest in the General Elections have a certain level of education without having to rely
solely on their experience in the political field. The volume of defending the interests of the
oppressed people and his courage to take a different opinion from the majority also caused him
to be sacked from UMNO for a moment in 1969. He re actively re enrolled into Umno by second
Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak in March 1972 and was appointed as Chairman of the Higher
Education Council on June 6, 1972. Tun Abdul Razak appointed him as Education Minister in
1974. Tun Dr. Mahathir realized that all these statesmen should be given equal rights and
opportunities to obtain the highest education and educational status as he believes only in

Direct Characterization Eliza Gant
Getting ready to go on stage, I felt the first stomach sinking feeling of being truly nervous, for
the first time in my life. Eliza Gant was the character staring in my high school s spring play, and
she had completely taken over my being. Her motherly instinct found its way into my teenage
lifestyle, and the way she approached conflict with a loud voice and obvious attitude altered my
usually easy going demeanor. I had never played a role so great and I was truly worried that my
own unique characteristics would come out on stage, unconnected with this woman who was so
unlike me. When I came exited the stage doors, finally able to address my family and friends who
had come to support my achievement, I was met with surprise. I found that my... Show more content

She seemed to act as if I was a different person, but quickly figured out how to distinguish the real
me from the Eliza Gant she had just watched for two hours, loving her children while also have
multiple meltdowns. The personality difference between my character and I was apparent and
the two of us had seemed to shape one another and become one, especially as the show came to
its closing. My mother saw the way I had used her traits to take on an empowered, though
aggressive, motherly figure. My emotions and way of addressing family members were taken
directly from the approach I had witnessed her in mothering my siblings and the many important
phone calls she shared with her father concerning their legal practices and daily lives. She hated
seeing her bad traits come out on stage, but loved the way I looked up to her with all the hard
work that made its way into the part. I was incredibly proud to find out how much people seemed
to dislike my character. She was an overwhelming and angry woman, something that I had never
wanted to become. The way Eliza Gant seemed to possess me was something that had never
occured for any other character I performed, and I was amazed at the feedback I received. So many
people who knew me well acted as if they had watched a completely different person in the show,
who simply had a similar appearance to

Analysis Of Bio-Hydrogen Production And Phosphorus...
Bio hydrogen production and phosphorus recovery in microbial electrolysis cell with statistical
optimization by response surface methodology
Abstract
Concurrent hydrogen (H2) production and phosphorus (P) recovery were investigated in dual
chamber microbial electrolysis cells (MECs). The aim of the study was to explore and understand
the influence of applied voltage and influent COD concentration on concurrent H2 production and
P recovery in MEC. P was efficiently precipitated at the cathode chamber and the precipitated
crystals were verified as struvite, using X ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy
analysis. The maximum P precipitation efficiency achieved by the MEC was 94%, and the
maximum H2 production rate was 0.31m3/m3/d. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The precipitation of these components is also highly dependent on pH, where struvite starts to
precipitate at pH 8 (Doyle and Parsons, 2002). The most common methods for P recovery as
struvite are chemical addition and carbon dioxide stripping through aeration. These processes are
effective for struvite precipitation; however, the operation cost is too high. Using chemical
addition to raise the solution s pH can account for up to 97% of struvite cost (Jaffer et al., 2002;
Morales et al., 2013). Hydrogen as one promising alternative clean energy source has attracted
international attention in recent years (Datar et al., 2007; Guo et al., 2010; Kumar et al., 2016).
Microbial electrolysis cells (MECs) are a new and promising approach for hydrogen (H2)
production from organic matter, including wastewater and other renewable resources. In MECs,
electrochemically active bacteria oxidize organic matter and generate CO2, electrons and protons.
The bacteria transfer the electrons to the anode and the protons are released into the solution. The
electrons then travel through a wire to a cathode and combine with the free protons in the solution
to produce hydrogen gas (Logan et al., 2008). The consumption of protons at the cathode chamber
increases solution pH (Moussa et al., 2006). Based on this hypothesis, the cathode chamber in the
MEC can be used to

Obesity Target Audience
The first target market that will be focused on is households that earn less than $50,000 or more
per year. Although this is market that has the least amount of income, it is the market we won t
to help out the most. Our goal is to help the parents struggling financially to receive this program,
because there children are receiving food that is not the best for them. Many of these kids lack
physical activity because of lack of funding. The second target market that will be focused on is
children who are obese and in need of a serious lifestyle change. This market can be children
whose family makes any amount of money; we just want our youth to be healthy. If we can grab
this market it would be good for us and for the youth because many kids suffering from obesity
get picked on in school and this program could help make their body change in a good way.... Show

This is important because studies have shown that kids who live in single parent homes are less
likely to be active then kids who live with both parents. This makes sense because single parents
have a lot of things to do during the day and probably cannot get their child/ren to and from
certain places, creating a barrier for the youth to participate in various activities. Our last target
market will be catered to families who have a high participation rate in youth activities. Our logic
behind this is if these kids are already participating in activities it will be easier to get them to
participate in something as positive as Kid Fit. Youth who are involved in physical activities
already are more likely to attend other activities then those who are not currently attending

High Gas Prices
Gas prices in the United States are breaking record highs. Millions of people need fuel drive to
work, to school, and to the bank, to accomplish daily commitments. Some wonder how gas prices
got so high. Many reasons like high taxes and demand, give strong evidence of the causes of high
gas prices. The effects of elevated gas prices cause Americans financial woes and lifestyle
inconveniences. Many people assume the reasons for high gas prices, but are unaware of the
significant explanations. Most people would speculate the culprits for raising the gas prices are the

2005) Some people believe only major affects on American families would be if the increase was
immense and lasted at least five years. The evidence discussed proves their claims wrong. I
disagree with the opposing statement that Americans are not significantly affected and would
not be until something traumatic occurs. I fall in the low income range of less than $30,000 per
year. Many people like me are affected in major ways. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the
three year average median household income for all states in 2002 2004 is $44,473 per year.
(US Census 2004) Many live paycheck to paycheck struggling to get the bills paid, providing
shelter, food and necessities, and still finding enough to enjoy leisurely activities. Not too
mention, future and unexpected costs like tuition, car repairs, and medical bills have to be
worried about. I have a small, fairly fuel efficient vehicle I purchased in late 2004, with a 13
gallon tank. With the same driving habits, it now costs me $10 to $18 more per week than it did
when I purchased my car. If this increase maintained throughout one year which can be easily
assumed according to yearly averages, gas would cost me $520 to $936 per year. The opposing side
claims Americans would only be seriously affected if the price rose over $4 per gallon and

Analysis Of The Book The Forever War
The Unending Revenge Published in 2008, The Forever War by Dexter Filkins compiles a
series of vignettes that detail his encounters as a reporter in Iraq and in Afghanistan. Released a
year after, director Kathryn Bigelow s The Hurt Locker also examines a harrowing account of
the conflicts in Iraq. Both works poignantly present the unbridled violence that plague the region,
and the futility of a war embedded within a vicious cycle of retaliation. Nevertheless, the
portrayal of vengeance as a major motivating force of the war, as well as the war s isolating and
demoralizing effect on its witnesses, are better achieved in The Forever War. Contrary to the sole
perspective of an American Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team in The Hurt Locker, Filkins
includes multiple angles to explore each of the elements portrayed, and ultimately offers a more
profound, subtle, and enduring explication than the film. Both The Hurt Locker and The Forever
War discuss revenge as an integral part of the violent experience of the war. Bigelow begins this
discussion by examining revenge as the rationale behind Sergeant James erratic and violent
tendencies, and Filkins completes this discussion by thoroughly studying the prevalence of
revenge as the propelling factor of violence. In The Hurt Locker, the largely unpredictable
character of Sergeant William James becomes primarily understood by his desire to avenge the
supposed death of Beckham, a young Iraqi boy from whom he buys DVDs. Here,

Examples Of Perception Vs Reality In A Midsummer Night s...
Perception v.s Reality
In A Midsummer Night s Dream, perception versus reality becomes a major aspect of the play
because the contrast of the woods versus the city and love versus infatuation. In the woods there is
much deception from the characters and fairies to make the lovers perceive love for each other
which is actually just infatuation. The city is full of chaos and people telling each other what
they need to do, but in the city the lovers still had some sort of control over their themselves.
Egeus is trying to force his daughter into loving someone she does not love. Egeus can make his
daughter do things she does not want to but he cannot make her love someone that she does not. In
the woods people use magic to make the lovers think they are in love.

Moreover, the Moroccan banking system is composed of mainly Moroccan owned banks (BMCE,

Foreshadowing In Bible
All things considered, God always had in mind one plan for salvation. Since, the promise made
to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15 were He says, And I will put enmity between thee and the
woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel
the devil had tried to deceive us with the biggest lie, that there are many ways to come to God. As a
result, most religions view God as a being that modifies according to peoples standards, peoples
view point, peoples believe, and their own interpretation of the Bible. However, that is not how
God runs the universe. In fact, the main reason for God to establish the temple among the Jews

Another key point, is that every sacrifice ceremony was providing just a temporary covering of
once sin, and could never take it away forever. On the other hand, the foreshadowing of the
perfect Lamb, would come to remove sin forever. That is what the temple represented, that there
is one way to heaven, the lamb slain, Jesus Christ. Now, the time has come to have faith in Jesus
Christ for salvation of our souls. The temple is no longer needed. In effect, no longer we need to
wait for the foreshadow of Jesus Christ, we no longer need to slain a sheep to cover our sins, we
no longer need to seek God on an altar, as he dwells within us through the Holy Spirit. God has
never given us a spirit of fear, rather a spirit of faith in Jesus Christ. Under those circumstances,
when Jesus declared, I am the way, is the reason why Jews hated Him. As a result, they were
intolerance with Him and Christians, until this day. The Bible speaks of Jesus Christ becoming the
stumbling rock for the Jews by not accepting his vicarious death. In fact, the incredible thing about
Jesus is that He is the way, the truth and the life no one comes to the father but through

however, she was not aware that the gazebo she built was on property belonging to Danny. After
a month, Lisa constructed a fence between her and Danny s yard, inclosing the gazebo on Lisa s
side of the fence with no complaints from Danny. Fifteen years later, Danny had a survey done

What this entails is that the actual sole physical occupation of the land with the intent to keep it
solely for the person occupying the property must be establish. Lisa demonstrated this by
construction a fence between her house and Danny s. In fact, by doing this, she establish sole
possession of the property in question. Once more, by fencing in the property, and the fact that
Danny knew what she was doing because he lived next door and did not contest, showed Lisa
was being open, visible, and notorious with her actions. She also was continuous and peaceable
with her actions because during the fifteen years of usage, there were no issues with Danny, and
he never complained that her actions were wrong. Only after fifteen years and a survey, did the
ownership questions come up. Lastly, Lisa believed that the property was hers and never asked or
obtained permission before erecting the fence. Since all the elements coexist, Lisa has a legal right
to claim adverse possession to the property. Furthermore, the state has a statutory period for adverse
possession of ten years. What this means is that Lisa must have occupied the property for the full
statutory period, and this action must have coexisted with the other elements of adverse possession
before the statute of limitations runs out. It was not until fifteen years later, and only after the
survey, Lisa found out

The Culture Of The Word Culture
There are many laity use of the word culture that gets thrown around in day to day conversation
amongst our peers. Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a
daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who
feel that we all live our own individual unique culturein our lives. However, being that culture is
such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try
and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of
culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes
embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular
definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. Their way of day to day
lifestyle, geographical terrain, as well as their militaryhistory can all be analyzed through their
culture as well as provide information in terms of our current military jargon for the benefit of the
United States Army.
Culturally, Okinawans separate themselves from the association of the Japanese culture, even
though they are still considered a territory of Japan. The differences in their landscape, their way of
life, language, and even their societal infrastructure are the basis of their adamant separation from
Japan. Its geographical complexities are also what make Okinawa unique from its neighboring

Tv Show Structure
This essay is a discussion into the ways in which a specific television programmes structure and
style is used to address its intended audience within today s media. I will be investigating how
the specific elements of the show tell us as the audience who it is predominantly aimed towards.
I will also focus on how television has been constructed for women and how this assumed viewer
affects the way in which a programme is structured and its style. Television has frequently been
described as to some degree feminised medium and tends to be associated around the domestic
sphere. For this reason, I have chosen to look more into this in relation to Coronation Street.

Firstly, while to some extent it could appear that men tend to dominate the television industry, it can
be argued that the ever growing dominance of female characters within shows indicates a change in
the relationship between females and TV viewing. Coronation Street and this episode accomplishes
this using different varieties of female characters that they hope will represent the female
viewership and have a depiction of both the traditional woman and the modern woman. An
example of this is Sally Webster, who is the embodiment of the modern working woman. To the
audience it would appear that she has a certain aura of confidence and authority, especially around
male characters such as her husband. However, within this episode, she also shows her maternal
and nurturing side when she is talking about her daughter being upset and that she wanted to go
and see her. This is typically how an audience to a certain extent would generally expect a woman to

Into My Own By Robert Frost Essay
Into My Own , by Robert Frost, is a sonnet that explores much more than writing conventions. Frost
writes his sonnet differently than the accepted norm of the time, and his subject is unlike any other:
exploring the identity of a young adult. Frost, as usual, puts a spin on the normal conventions of
poetry. He leans toward the English sonnet, writing in iambic pentameter with fourteen lines
separated into three quatrains a set of four lines and a couplet set apart at the end. However, Frost
sets an unusual rhyme scheme for a sonnet. He rhymes each of his lines in pairs, or couplets. In
lines 1 8, the speaker deals with the idea of adolescent identity ( Into My Own by Robert Frostpara.

My Own, suggesting a transformation from child into mature individual (Literary Analysis into
my own para.1). The speaker is at the edge of adulthood, peeking in on what his future holds. He

Can I create a hybrid with the earth elemental? Make the second race a random choice though.
In the character selection, there was an advanced choice called hybrid. It was an option where
you could mix races together for a maximum of three races one could mix into one creature. The
hybrid would receive the racial traits of all the selected races, though it would be random. A bad
hybrid might receive only the negative aspects and a good hybrid might receive only the positive.
It was completely random and once a hybrid was made, the racial traits would be locked. You
could create a different hybrid though. For example, if I mixed a high elf and mountain dwarf but
wasn t satisfied with the result, I couldn t remix them. The results would be locked and I couldn t
change them. I could attempt to mix a high elf and a river dwarf though.

Music piracy is an infringement that involve the copying or selling of creative works that which
the copyright owner, composer, or artist did not consent to. Before the invention of newer
technology that allowed for the piracy process to become less difficult, music piracy was much
easier to control. With this new and improved technology of the 21st century, users of the web
began adding media files to the internet, which made all previous difficulties substantially less
challenging. It was much easier for people with little to no knowledge of technology and old
piracy methods to gather media files. Piracy may seem petty, but the effects are major. Not only is
it illegal, when music is copied and or shared the value decreases with each download.... Show more

Many citizens are unaware that downloading music although free is illegal and others may think
of piracy as a victimless. Individual artists, ranging from celebrity musical acts like Metallica to
the stay at home mothers who sell digital scrapbooking kits in their free time, frequently speak
out against piracy when talking to their fans. Grassroots organizations also work to educate the
public about music property rights through online marketing campaigns. Technology has given
the Music companies a fighting chance in preventing music piracy. Software programs can be
created to require authorization codes or online registration forms that make piracy more
difficult because they are only given with legal copies. For downloadable content, digital rights
management systems limit the number of devices that can play a particular movie or song in
order to stop people from sharing unauthorized copies. Unfortunately, there are still resourceful
hackers and people in the piracy industry that still continue to find ways to get around these
measures. Lawsuits may seem like an obvious way to stop piracy, but legal action is typically a
last resort with the widespread use of the Internet, it is way too time consuming and expensive to
track down every web site and person that is involved in the production and sharing of illegal music
files. Piracy laws also vary from country to country, making enforcement rather

St. Paul s Cathedral in London, England Essay
St. Paul s Cathedral, in London, England, was designed by architect Sir Christopher Wren.
Approval of this most significant architectural project took six years just for the plan.
Construction, which began in 1675, took thirty five years until finally complete in 1710. It was
built to replace a church that had been leveled by the Great Fire of 1666. St. Paul s is the largest
cathedral in England, and said to be Wren s masterpiece. He brought a range of new forms, and
architectural combination into English architecture. Masonry, brick, timber, and cut stone were used
to form the structure of the cathedral. St. Paul s Cathedral has been one of the main socially

Sir Christopher Wren s design of St. Paul s Cathedral, is not only the largest cathedral in England,
but one of the most significant stylistically architectural combinations into English Architecture.
After the Great Fire, parts of the remains of Old St Paul s were patched up as a temporary
cathedral. The structure, however, was in a very bad shape, and in May 1668, after a fall of the
remains of the building materials fell; Wren was asked to submit proposals for a new cathedral.
Wren s first proposal, The First Model , was quickly neglected, because it was said to be too
modest. His second proposal was a mimic of the Greek cross. It was a classical style of the
Italian Renaissance, it was centrally planned, and the main interior space was set beneath an
enormous dome, and auxiliary spaces were located around the sides. But the clergy, who were
only familiar with cathedrals whose designs, were Romanesque or Gothic, and were not familiar
to classical architecture in his design, quickly through out the new design. His third design, The
Warrant Design , was still classical architecture, but it was based on the criticisms of the Greek
cross design. The plan was longitudinal, the nave and choir were bordered by lower aisles, and
the towers and spire suggested the shape of medieval England. This design was approved by King
Charles II, but Wren

Critical Analysis On Hindustan Motors
CRITICAL ANALYSIS:
Critical analysis of this project requires thorough understanding of its marketing mix strategy. To
give personal views about anything first of all one should make himself familiar with the subject.
That s what I did. Before starting the report , i went throughout on line papers case studies etc ..that
was explaining about all the marketing mix strategy about or related to the topic. I found that
everywhere the concept to be used was marketing mix but its execution was different. Like All

According to me the main reason is when they came into existence they didn t have any
competitors all they need to do is manufacturing and selling of the car. As I have stated earlier
before 80s Indian automobile market was seller s market which means manufacturing companies
have the command on the market not the customers. Having customer s command on the market is
essential otherwise the development stops. The same thing happened, ambassador remains the
same car as it was when it was first introduced. Hindustan Motors didn t promote the car because
as a single Indian car it was already famous. Distribution was not that much difficult because car
owners were few. The price of the ambassador was relatively high because those who needed the car
didn t have another option. Also the government rules on importing the components were harsh and
company was paying high prices for them. It seems obvious what the company did during those
years. But when the scenario changed during 90s the market became open to all the government
rules became soft and lots of other car manufacturers jumped into the Indian automobile market.
This was the time when the ambassador should have changed its strategies. However they didn t
make considerable changes on the other side new companies like Maruti Suzuki got the nerve of an
Indian customer and introduced cheapest car in the market. Due to this drastic change once giant
Hindustan Motors has become a company in loss with one of its most successful car an ambassador

Shewin Memorandum 1
Heather M Fuller PA402: Employment Law Assignment: Shewin Memorandum #1 April 27, 2015
Anti discrimination laws cover categories that include race, gender, religion, age national origin,
and others. Ms. Shewin s case has several factors that could be split into the discrimination
categories. The first factor that can be considered is that Ms. Shewin is an African American. In the
fact pattern is states that there are only five African American senior managers in the company.
This would fit into the race discrimination category because the number of African American
individuals that are in senior management positions could be subject to the EEOA depending on
the records kept by the company. The gender category is also a factor ... Show more content on

3. The type of compensation, or damages you can hope to recover?
I thought this would be a good question to ask because in the end, anyone who files a lawsuit is
looking to get something out of it. By the attorney asking what the clients expected outcome should
be, this allows the attorney to prepare the case in the correct manner. It also gives the attorney the
opportunity to talk with the client about what the realistic outcomes could be and how the process
will work.
4. Did you speak with Human Resources regarding the interview process?
This is a good question to ask the Ms. Shewin because if she went to the HR department or an upper
management person to talk to them about the inappropriate interview circumstances, then it give
the case more leverage that these alleged allegations did in fact take place and when they took
place. This also gives the attorney additional people to talk with to get a better understanding of
what they thought happened and if they tried to handle the situation.
5. Why do you feel that you did not get the job?

Should Same Sex Couples Have the Same Adoption Rights as Heterosexual Couples?
In 2008, President Barack Obama stated there are too many children who need loving parents to
deny one group of people adoption rights (eQuality, 2005). A child will benefit from a healthy,
loving home, whether the parents are gay or not (eQuality, 2005). With that statement in 2008 from
the individual who holds the most powerful authority in the United States, why are gay and lesbian
couples today still battling adoption laws? When in fact while trying to adopt and raise children a

Miraculously in 2010 Florida acknowledged that the adoption ban was unconstitutional (eQuality,
2005). In previous years homosexuals interested in the adoption process would use foster care to
acquire the same nurturing family that heterosexuals had acquired thus, circumventing the system.
The unconstitutional ban had the ability to deter potential same sex adoptive parents because they
feared automatic exclusion. With the increased pressure from the gay community to allow same sex
adoptions many adoption agencies are becoming more accommodating to homosexuals. However,
the obstacles that same sex couples encounter tend to minimize the whole family structure and
make the family unit vulnerable (Brown, Smalling, Groza, Ryan, 2009). Unfortunately, there is a
number of legal hurdles gay and lesbian couples face when trying to adopt therefore, the system has
to be circumvented. Also same sex couples encounter individuals who subconsciously and
consciously discriminate through a variety of behaviors including evident harassment or social
exclusion (Brown, Smalling, Groza, Ryan, 2009). It would seem as if the drive to prevent same sex
couples from the benefit of joint adoption starts with the discrimination of these couples rather than
the welfare of the child (Johnson, n.d). In fact, these discriminations include accusations of
psychological disorders and a higher occurrence of domestic violence.

Justice In Dante s Inferno
Renowned poet Dante Alighieri lived in a tempestuous political and religious era. Fourteenth
century Italy was riddled with political factions, most notably the Guelphs and Ghibellines, which
were constantly engaged in conflict. This ongoing political and religious upheaval would
eventually lead to Dante s exile from Florence. After his banishment, Dante wrote The Divine
Comedy, an epic poem that sets up a flawless system of punishment, redemption and salvation. This
retributive structure, most readily apparent in the Inferno , heavily contrasts with the imperfect
earthly one that failed Dante. Although the primary message of the poem appears to be religious,
the Inferno gives insight into how Dante was making an inherently political statement.... Show more

The Black Guelphs came about from treachery in the form of a White cutting themselves off from

due to the fact that he supposedly stole money for his own personal gain (Harrison 2). Dante s
harsh condemnation of traitors of any nationality or religion may be seen as his way of attempting
to prove that he would never commit an act that

Players appear to have the tendency to get arrested, and their careers and fans are devastated.
But statistics don t lie. According to Tom Keane, a former Boston city councilor and Boston
Globe Columnist, wrote this in an article: The rate of arrest of pro athletes for assault and
domestic violence was less than half that of the general population. This applied for other crimes
as well. It seems as if NFL players are committing so many crimes because every time they do,
they make the news (Keane 2 3). So instead of breaking the law, these athletes are actually just
training. An athlete usually work more than 40 hours a week for several months (Athletes and
Sports Competitors 1). The motivation it requires to be an athlete doesn t stop here. You must
be willing to work hard in the face of fatigue, boredom, and pain. Motivation will impact
everything that influences your sports performance. Physical conditioning, technical and
tactical training, and mental preparation (Taylor 1). Along with the motivation for the Grind ,
you must be willing to give up a big chunk of free time you spend with friends and family. You ll
(also) have to follow a rigorous diet plan. You have to consume a precise amount of carbs,
proteins, and fat (Anne 1). Along with diets, each athlete has a different work ethic, or plan for
working out. Kobe Bryant arguably has one of the best. During the 2012 Olympics, when
everyone was waking up for team USA, Kobe had already gone through a 3 hour workout (Kobe
Bryant s Insane Work Ethic 3). To wrap up, athletes are severely motivated and prove it with their

Florence Nightingale Influence
In nursing school, I remembered learning about Florence Nightingale and her impact in nursing.
Still to this day, her teachings and work to advance nursing is discussed. The nursing profession
has grown and evolved a great deal since the times of Nightingale. However, visionaries such as
her and their theories have been the ones making that happen. The first three American training
schools for nurses, modeled after Nightingale s famous school at St. Thomas Hospital in
London, opened in 1873 (Black, 2014, p. 26). As nursing grew and more work was done to
advance nursing as a profession, the developing of professional associations such as ANA and
NLNE helped further that goal. As author Black (2014) continues, The precursor to the National
League for Nursing, the American Society of Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses, was
formed to address issues in nursing education. The society changed its name in 1912 to the
National League of Nursing Education (NLNE) and in 1952 became the National League for

Comparing Women In Hinduism And Christianity
Throughout history women have been treated as objects. Although it has never been a better time
to be a woman, people today treat women with disrespect. A reason women are treated this way is
because of religion and the societies that surround them. Some religions have put women down and
morphed the image of women to fulfill their religious views. Two of these aforementioned religions
are Hinduism and Christianity. These religions have made out women to be lower than men in both
similar and different ways. Hinduism and Christianity put women in a negative light and it effects
the women in their communities.
Like most religions the perception of women has evolved over time. Sometimes it was for the
better other times it is for the worse. An example of this is exemplified in Hinduism. According to

1 Corinthians 11:3 *
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is]
the man; and the head of Christ [is] God. (And many more)
Unfortunately, some people in the faith believe that women are automatically sinners because of
Eve eating the fruit and due to the aforementioned verses. Although the severity in the
discrimination isn t as overt as in Hinduism, there are still issues that affect Christian women today.
The history of Christianity would have had a very different development if it had not been for the

Mostly I needed a car to go out somewhere. The buses are stationed only on few places and they

What Are The Reasons For The Age Of Exploration
The Age of Exploration and Conquests of the New World began in the 15th century by Columbus.
He was a Spanish explorer who went on the journey to seek for the Indies, but eventually ended up
in the Caribbean islands. The three causes for the Age of Exploration were the Glory, Gold, and
God.
One of the major causes for the Age of Exploration was the search for glory by the European
explorers. All of the explorations began with the interest to earn glory by setting goals for finding
certain discoveries. According to a map from 1955, in 1513, Ponco de Leon discovered

Summary Understanding how duty of care impacts on occupational health and safety policies is a
crucial element in workplace policy development. Duty of care is not generally defined in
legislation and is evolutionary as it adapts with the change of society. The reader needs to
understand this when introduced to duty of care. Employees should understand how and the scope
of the duty of care as it applies to them, as demonstrated in the examples included in this report. It

Gender Inequality Of The Work Force
For centuries, human beings have constantly dealt with various forms of discrimination; whether it
is religion, race, gender or other factors that make individuals different from one another,
discrimination occurs every day. Inequality in the work force is a type of discrimination that is
prevalent globally. Females, who are as equally educated, trained and experienced as their male
colleagues, are not receiving equal pay resulting in a genderwage gap. According to a study
conducted by Christianne Corbett, M.A. and Catherine Hill, Ph.D. (2012), women, around the
age of 23, who graduated from the same post secondary school as men in 2008 and who were
employed full time in 2009 earned 82 cents for every dollar that men earned. Moreover, after many
years of a consistent female to male earnings ratio of approximately 60%, the relative salary of
females started to increase sharply in the late 1970s, with a continuous, yet slower and more
fluctuated rise thereafter (Blau and Kahn, 2016). The Institute for Womans Policy Research (IWPR)
has tracked this trend and predicted that it will likely take 45 more years for females to ultimately
reach wage parity with males (Hegewisch and DuMonthier, 2010). With the increased opportunity
for careers and contribution in the workplace by men and women, alike, the gender wage gap
continues to be an important social issue in modern society.
This disparity in wage matters because discrimination against woman based on gender roles is not

The Use of Structure in a Shakespearean Play:
Structure in Henry the V
Authors use structure in their written or performed pieces of work to further the reader or viewer
s understanding of the plot, to illuminate and widen the perception of a certain text. This is so in
the case of Shakespeare and his many plays; Shakespeare makes incredibly meticulous use of the
structure and order in which the events occur to more specifically make the point he is anticipating
the reader to grasp. Many authors do this, but Shakespeare deserves a closer look, as he is one of
the most famous, if not the most famous, classic literature artist who understood this concept
broadly. A Midsummer Night s Dream, Julius Caesar, and Hamletall display Shakespeare s
understanding of the rhythm of events that contribute to the overall understanding of a piece of
work. Moreover, Henry V is a play that does this with a magnanimity of eloquence, in which
Shakespeare arranges the speeches, wars, and comedy in a perfect chronological order to please
the reader. Most of Shakespeare s work ends in the protagonist, depending on how many there are,
tragically dying and leaving the reader or viewer motionless, irritated at the fact that the story will
not go on with that character. Henry the V is different in this aspect because the play leaves the
reader very satisfied, they have experienced the building up of certain characters, they have
experienced suspense, a climax with the highest form of action,

Bankruptcy and Insurance Case Studies
Scenario 1 Chapter 7 bankruptcy is available to Celia for her credit card debt and in some
circumstances for including her student loans (Forgiveness, Cancellation, and Discharge) (Twomey
Jennings, 2014, p. 747). The discharge of student loans in bankruptcy is rare (Forgiveness,
Cancellation, and Discharge). Direct loans, Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program, and
Perkins Loans can be discharged if all of the three following circumstances are met (Forgiveness,
Cancellation, and Discharge).
1.Celia will be unable to maintainable a minimum standard of living if forced to pay the student
loans (Forgiveness, Cancellation, and Discharge).
2.It is evident that the loan repayment hardship will continue throughout the life of the loan
(Forgiveness, Cancellation, and Discharge).
3.Celia made an effort in good faith to repay the loans for a minimum of five years before declaring
bankruptcy (Forgiveness, Cancellation, and Discharge).
As Celia only made payment for two years and not the required five years as required by good faith
she will not be eligible for the student loans to be discharges just her unsecured credit card debt

the bankruptcy court must decide if these circumstances have been met through the means test

Imitation Of Life Is A Film Directly Focusing On The...
Imitation of Life is a film directly focusing on the relationships between mother and daughter.
Although the main characters, Annie and Sara Jane, and Lora and Susie, seem similar in their
relationships, the film juxtaposes them in terms of race. On the surface, the relationships presented
are, at best, considered to be normal struggles between motherand daughter. Analyzing the specific
trials and problems will reveal a difference in Black motherhood and White motherhood. Annie and
Sara Jane face racial and identity issues, that cause the relationship to shatter. Lora and Susie
encounter a sense of abandonment and loss of love, which in turn creates a divide between them.
While jointly living, and raising their girls together, Annie and... Show more content on

By her obvious exaggeration of a Southern domestic worker, she is playing into the stereotype that
her mother has created for herself. Sara Jane chooses to get revenge after Annie askes her to take
something out to the guests, as that request could associate Sara Jane with her mother s race and
domestic servitude. Sara Jane wants so desperately to pass as a white girl, but is constantly
reminded of her race just by her mother s appearance. Their relationship is completely shattered by
the end of the film, with Sara Jane refusing to have anything to do with her mother. The dynamic
between Lora and Susie as mother and daughter is slightly different, with their relationship focusing
on Susie s feelings of abandonment and missing love. One of the only confrontational scenes
pertaining to these issues between Susie and Lora occurs near the end of the film, with Lora
becoming upset that her daughter did not tell her about her budding love of Steve. Annie spills
Susie s secret infatuation, and this causes Lora to confront her daughter about her romantic
feelings. Amidst this quarrel, Susie exclaims, You ve given me everything but yourself! and
proceeds to list of the ways that her mother tried to contact her, without physically being near her in
person. This outburst is a

Ayaan Hirsi Ali Research Paper
How would you react to someone criticizing your religion? Would you hate them or defend them,
in the name of the First Amendment? This is a question people have been pondering after
listening to Ayaan Hirsi Ali s various interviews and speeches. Ayaan is a Somali born woman
who fled to the Netherlands when she was around 23, to escape the marriage her father had
arranged for her to her cousin. She is known as a big criticizer of the religionof Islam, and this is
largely in part because of her own experiences (which you will learn about later in this paper).
Ayaan possesses many qualities that would make people follow a leader: she shows bravery and
perseverance in continuing to speak out about her opinions on Islam, even though many people...

And as soon as you really take note of it, you re going to have to ask yourself, What have I got to

acknowledges: People have been warning about this backlash for 30 years. (Bethune). This
shows just how persistent she is (though many people, even other Muslims here in America,
have sent her death threats because of her speeches). These are not just good traits to have for a
leader, but anyone could have these. Being brave, persevering, and persisting are all great skills
to have in this world. They will help you with many things: getting good grades, a job, a raise,
etc. If students like us will take away anything from learning about Ayaan Hirsi Ali, it should be
that you should not be afraid to speak your mind, and to not judge a book by it s cover (because
Ayaan used to be a devout Muslim but is now an outspoken atheist). Everyone disagrees about
Ayaan. They say she shouldn t be so critical of Islam, and that not everyone is bad just because of
their religion. This is a great thing to discuss, because no two people are exactly the same: One
person may think that what she is doing is fine, but someone else may say that Ayaan is being too
harsh to others. Whatever you may believe, you should know that Ayaan Hirsi Ali has changed the
way people think about religion and the restriction of speech

Examples Of Betrayal In The Kite Runner
There are many different views about the concept of betrayal. Betrayal is described by World
Book Online as a . . . violation of trust or confidence. Furthermore, there are different ways to be
betrayed or to betray someone. Common examples of betrayal include adultery, mutiny, and
stealing from a trusting friend. Betrayal also has an emotional effect on individuals. Being
betrayed by an individual will induce the feelings of being . . . taken advantage of, deceived,
humiliated, despised, cheated, or stabbed in the back (Krystal Kuehn). The novel The Kite Runner
is a story about an Afghan named Amir who experiences and causes betrayals between friends and
family. Throughout the novel The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseiniaddresses the different concepts of
betrayal through the characters of Amir, Hassan, and Sohrab. Sohrab is the son of Hassan and
is moved to an orphanage after his parents death. While in the orphanage, Sohrab is betrayed by
the orphanage director because the director gives Sohrab to the Taliban for money. Amir and
Farid enter the orphanage asking where Sohrab is. The orphanage director tells them that a
[Taliban official] visits once every month or two. He brings cash with him . . . .Usually he ll
take a girl. But not always (Hosseini 256) implying that he gave Sohrab away. This event scars
Sohrab and he becomes fearful of all orphanages because of the abusive experiences he had as a
result of his previous orphanage. In the novel, Sohrab tells Amir that he is glad that his parents
are not with him because he feels dirty and sinful about what the . . . bad man and the other two
. . . did to him (Hosseini 320). After Sohrab s experience with both the orphanage and the
Taliban, he begins to open up and become friends with Amir. As Sohrab starts to trust Amir,
Amir makes a promise with Sohrab saying that he will never send him to an orphanage. During
the process of adopting Sohrab, Amir realizes that the only way to adopt Sohrab is to send him
to an orphanage. Amir tells Sohrab the news, and Sohrab reminds Amir of his promise by saying
[y]ou promised you d never put me in one of those places, Amir agha (Hosseini 341). Betrayal by
Amir causes Sohrab to become stressed, scared, and

The Scapegoat In Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
Numerous critics have carefully discussed Shirley Jackson s The Lottery in terms of the scapegoat
traditions of anthropology and literature, pointing out its obvious comment on the innate savagery
of man lurking beneath his civilized trappings. Most acknowledge the power of the story, admitting
that the psychological shock of the ritual murder in an atmosphere of modern, small town normality
cannot be easily forgotten. Nevertheless, beneath the praise of these critics frequently runs a
current of uneasiness a sense of having been defrauded n some way by the development of the
story on a whole.

The Impact Of Ferdinand Porsche On Germany s Efforts...
A. Summary of Evidence :
Critical Analysis of the sources indicates that Ferdinand Porsche had made a large impact on
Germany s efforts during World War 2. Due to his affiliation and close relation to Hitler he had
been tasked with many engineering projects that had come to the aid of Germany s military forces
and perhaps had become the economic miracle that Germany was in need of with his success of the
VW beetle. By diving into the sources I have found that Porsche s early stages began by supplying
German troops with new aviation technology as well as tanks known as the Elefant. An interview
conducted at Porsche Centre Johannesburg which is one of the largest centres in the world clearly
back these sources. It was made clear to me by the interviewee that the roots of the Porsche
company do indeed stem from a military and agricultural background. However Ferdinand Porsche
also had a strong relationship with the USSR which seemed to cause some doubts. By
reviewing the German Economy during World War 2 it was clear that Germany was in need of
an economic miracle in order to save it as their economy had taken a large hit during the war.
The sources clearly point that the success of the VW Beetle did indeed help to resurrect the
economy but however the economy had already bled out by then. Therefore Mr Ferdinand
Porsche and his company did indeed help Germany in the war and it could be stated that the war
could have ended much earlier if his aid was not there. Why

Sexism In Movies
In her October 2016 Ted Talk, activist Stacy Smith presented a problem that has been persistent for
over fifty years. In her discussion, Smith brought to light information about the sexism that is
prevalent in Hollywood. Smith, along with her team, has conducted more than thirty investigations
on the erasing and marginalization of females in the movie industry. Smith discusses how she
carries out her research by cataloguing all speaking characters on screen for race, ethnicity, gender,
LGBT, and characters with disabilities. Smith uses her data to show how much under representation

Smith states that, Across the top 100 films of just last year, 48 films didn t feature one black or
African American speaking character, and 70 films were devoid of Asian or Asian American
speaking characters that were girls or women (Smith). The discrimination of African Americans,
Asians, and many other races and ethnicities has been somewhat of an epidemic in Hollywood
and the film industry for many years. It is understandable how this topic can upset people and
have them pushing for more ethnic diversity in movies. Although many believe the film industry
should include more diversity, people also must understand that not all characters can be changed
just for the sake of having more diversity in a film. Take historical films for example, directors
are not going to make a historical film with actors that do not fit within the roles of the movie.
This is different in the case of movies like the Spiderman franchise. This franchise had been
looking for an actor to continue the franchise, and had an African American actor in the running for
the main role. Even though the previous films had while actors portray the lead, it would have been
completely acceptable for an African American actor to take over. In the end the Spiderman
franchise gave up a wonderful opportunity to cast an African American actor and help to fight
against the diversity

Theodore Roosevelt s Personality Analysis
Theodore Roosevelt s personality is depicted as a total extrovert who adored, and longed for, the
spotlight. He was very charming, brave an ambitious. His enigmatic personality appealed men and
women alike and he was an exceptionally popular president. He was commanding and conclusive
and had great rhetoric abilities, his words were stressed by different gestures (Marrin, 2007). He
was a canny man and had the colossal advantage of photographic memory which enabled him to
recall images, objects or text in memory with extraordinary precision.
The mythical personality of Theodore Roosevelt is immortal. He went from a voraciously
inquisitive child, to an active young fellow, lastly, an uproarious progressive as a legislator

The Importance Of Violent Immigrants Into The United States
Is it right to prevent immigrants from other countries to come into the United States? Did you know
U.S. Immigration and customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 41,300 undocumented
immigrants in the 100 days since president Trump signed a pair of executive orders tightening
border security and cracking down on sanctuary cities (Bendix). Well in many cases these
undocumented immigrants are simply looking for better living in the United Statesfor the fact that
where they come from it s hard to find stable jobs, good living and education. The reason why
president Trump signed a pair of executive orders was to get rid of undocumented immigrants with
a criminal record or who pose a threat to national security remain a priority for the agency
(Homan). For this reason, preventing undocumented immigrants with a criminal record should not
come to the U.S. to prevent violence into the U.S. also undocumented immigrants come to the U.S
looking for good stable jobs and housing; even though it can be scary for them because they could
get caught by (ICE) they still take risks for their families to have the right education and
opportunities they never had back home.
It s not right to prevent undocumented immigrants from other countries to come to the U.S. unless
they have a criminal record. In the U.S. there has been cases of undocumented immigrants who
have been arrested that have criminal records, According to Wednesday s report, nearly 75 percent

The Selma marches have had an immense impact on United States history. In 1964, the Civil
Rights Act was passed. Even after its passing, many southern states were still segregated and
nothing really changed. The Selma marches were three marches that protested the state of Alabama
for its discrimination against African Americans. The state of Alabama made it hard for African
Americans to register to vote and even the few who were registered had a hard time voting. These
marches had a big impact on African Americans living the United States. Because of the Selma

The Pros And Cons Of Sex Work
What is sex work? An official definition does not exist, however American Jewish World
Service refers to sex work as the act of providing sexual services in exchange for money, goods,
or favors. There are many different forms of sex work, some are legal and some are illegal. Some
are legal in certain geographic locations, but illegal in others. In this industry, certain labor is more
stigmatized than others. Criminalized sex work, such as prostitution, is very stigmatized. Exotic
dancing does not hold quite the same stigma because it is legal in the United States.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics as of September 2016, there are 400,000 strippers
employed by US strip clubs. Despite the significant amount of woman who work in this industry,
there is a stigma being carried around that is potentially deadly. It has been proven there is a link
between anti sex work rhetoric and an increase of violence against sex workers. (Penfold,
Hunter, Campbell, Barham 2010). A systematic review of the link between sex work and
violence determined that 45 75% of sex workers chance experiencing sexual violence at some
point in their careers. (Deering et al., 2014). According to data from Medscape, one in five police
reports of sexual assault from an urban emergency room were filed by sex workers. These women
were generally younger, poorer, and suffered a greater number of injuries than other victims.
(Koster 2015). The impact of this rhetoric is qualitatively different depending

One of the most helpful advice Sean gives is to focus on your Personal Bank Account (PBA). This

  • 2. Tun Dr Mahathir Personality Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad Born in Seberang Perak, Alor Setar, Kedah, Tun Dr Mathatir is the youngest among nine siblings. He was educated at the Perak Seberang Perak School in 1930 for 2 years. He pursued secondary education at Government English School, Alor Setar, now known as the Sultan Hamid College after entering the transition class for a year at Cambridge High School s outstanding achievement in 1945.The title of modernity father was given to him as he had made Malaysiaa modern nation, able to compete in the world. The success of boosting Malaysia s progress made him an individual and respected leader and respected. Tun Dr Mahathir was a very caring and sensitive person. He observes, analyzes, gives opinions and criticizes the political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mahathir s involvement in politics actually started when he became a SABERKAS member (Imagine the Nation of What Victims Only) in Kedah. Because SUBERKAS is an UMNO linked body, Dr Mahathir automatically became a member of UMNO when it was set up on May 11, 1946. However, in the early stages he was somewhat disliked by some state UMNO leaders at that time because of his over progressive and predictive thinking time. Among the controversial proposals rejected by UMNO Kedah is that he proposes that all candidates who wish to contest in the General Elections have a certain level of education without having to rely solely on their experience in the political field. The volume of defending the interests of the oppressed people and his courage to take a different opinion from the majority also caused him to be sacked from UMNO for a moment in 1969. He re actively re enrolled into Umno by second Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak in March 1972 and was appointed as Chairman of the Higher Education Council on June 6, 1972. Tun Abdul Razak appointed him as Education Minister in 1974. Tun Dr. Mahathir realized that all these statesmen should be given equal rights and opportunities to obtain the highest education and educational status as he believes only in knowledge only the country can achieve the desired level of progress and ... • 3. Direct Characterization Eliza Gant Getting ready to go on stage, I felt the first stomach sinking feeling of being truly nervous, for the first time in my life. Eliza Gant was the character staring in my high school s spring play, and she had completely taken over my being. Her motherly instinct found its way into my teenage lifestyle, and the way she approached conflict with a loud voice and obvious attitude altered my usually easy going demeanor. I had never played a role so great and I was truly worried that my own unique characteristics would come out on stage, unconnected with this woman who was so unlike me. When I came exited the stage doors, finally able to address my family and friends who had come to support my achievement, I was met with surprise. I found that my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She seemed to act as if I was a different person, but quickly figured out how to distinguish the real me from the Eliza Gant she had just watched for two hours, loving her children while also have multiple meltdowns. The personality difference between my character and I was apparent and the two of us had seemed to shape one another and become one, especially as the show came to its closing. My mother saw the way I had used her traits to take on an empowered, though aggressive, motherly figure. My emotions and way of addressing family members were taken directly from the approach I had witnessed her in mothering my siblings and the many important phone calls she shared with her father concerning their legal practices and daily lives. She hated seeing her bad traits come out on stage, but loved the way I looked up to her with all the hard work that made its way into the part. I was incredibly proud to find out how much people seemed to dislike my character. She was an overwhelming and angry woman, something that I had never wanted to become. The way Eliza Gant seemed to possess me was something that had never occured for any other character I performed, and I was amazed at the feedback I received. So many people who knew me well acted as if they had watched a completely different person in the show, who simply had a similar appearance to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Bio-Hydrogen Production And Phosphorus... Bio hydrogen production and phosphorus recovery in microbial electrolysis cell with statistical optimization by response surface methodology Abstract Concurrent hydrogen (H2) production and phosphorus (P) recovery were investigated in dual chamber microbial electrolysis cells (MECs). The aim of the study was to explore and understand the influence of applied voltage and influent COD concentration on concurrent H2 production and P recovery in MEC. P was efficiently precipitated at the cathode chamber and the precipitated crystals were verified as struvite, using X ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy analysis. The maximum P precipitation efficiency achieved by the MEC was 94%, and the maximum H2 production rate was 0.31m3/m3/d. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The precipitation of these components is also highly dependent on pH, where struvite starts to precipitate at pH 8 (Doyle and Parsons, 2002). The most common methods for P recovery as struvite are chemical addition and carbon dioxide stripping through aeration. These processes are effective for struvite precipitation; however, the operation cost is too high. Using chemical addition to raise the solution s pH can account for up to 97% of struvite cost (Jaffer et al., 2002; Morales et al., 2013). Hydrogen as one promising alternative clean energy source has attracted international attention in recent years (Datar et al., 2007; Guo et al., 2010; Kumar et al., 2016). Microbial electrolysis cells (MECs) are a new and promising approach for hydrogen (H2) production from organic matter, including wastewater and other renewable resources. In MECs, electrochemically active bacteria oxidize organic matter and generate CO2, electrons and protons. The bacteria transfer the electrons to the anode and the protons are released into the solution. The electrons then travel through a wire to a cathode and combine with the free protons in the solution to produce hydrogen gas (Logan et al., 2008). The consumption of protons at the cathode chamber increases solution pH (Moussa et al., 2006). Based on this hypothesis, the cathode chamber in the MEC can be used to ... • 5. Obesity Target Audience The first target market that will be focused on is households that earn less than $50,000 or more per year. Although this is market that has the least amount of income, it is the market we won t to help out the most. Our goal is to help the parents struggling financially to receive this program, because there children are receiving food that is not the best for them. Many of these kids lack physical activity because of lack of funding. The second target market that will be focused on is children who are obese and in need of a serious lifestyle change. This market can be children whose family makes any amount of money; we just want our youth to be healthy. If we can grab this market it would be good for us and for the youth because many kids suffering from obesity get picked on in school and this program could help make their body change in a good way.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is important because studies have shown that kids who live in single parent homes are less likely to be active then kids who live with both parents. This makes sense because single parents have a lot of things to do during the day and probably cannot get their child/ren to and from certain places, creating a barrier for the youth to participate in various activities. Our last target market will be catered to families who have a high participation rate in youth activities. Our logic behind this is if these kids are already participating in activities it will be easier to get them to participate in something as positive as Kid Fit. Youth who are involved in physical activities already are more likely to attend other activities then those who are not currently attending ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. High Gas Prices Gas prices in the United States are breaking record highs. Millions of people need fuel drive to work, to school, and to the bank, to accomplish daily commitments. Some wonder how gas prices got so high. Many reasons like high taxes and demand, give strong evidence of the causes of high gas prices. The effects of elevated gas prices cause Americans financial woes and lifestyle inconveniences. Many people assume the reasons for high gas prices, but are unaware of the significant explanations. Most people would speculate the culprits for raising the gas prices are the oil refinerycompanies because their profit equals billions, but in reality our elevated dependency on gasoline, higher taxes, and environmental regulations are the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2005) Some people believe only major affects on American families would be if the increase was immense and lasted at least five years. The evidence discussed proves their claims wrong. I disagree with the opposing statement that Americans are not significantly affected and would not be until something traumatic occurs. I fall in the low income range of less than $30,000 per year. Many people like me are affected in major ways. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the three year average median household income for all states in 2002 2004 is $44,473 per year. (US Census 2004) Many live paycheck to paycheck struggling to get the bills paid, providing shelter, food and necessities, and still finding enough to enjoy leisurely activities. Not too mention, future and unexpected costs like tuition, car repairs, and medical bills have to be worried about. I have a small, fairly fuel efficient vehicle I purchased in late 2004, with a 13 gallon tank. With the same driving habits, it now costs me $10 to $18 more per week than it did when I purchased my car. If this increase maintained throughout one year which can be easily assumed according to yearly averages, gas would cost me $520 to $936 per year. The opposing side claims Americans would only be seriously affected if the price rose over $4 per gallon and sustained at least ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The Book The Forever War The Unending Revenge Published in 2008, The Forever War by Dexter Filkins compiles a series of vignettes that detail his encounters as a reporter in Iraq and in Afghanistan. Released a year after, director Kathryn Bigelow s The Hurt Locker also examines a harrowing account of the conflicts in Iraq. Both works poignantly present the unbridled violence that plague the region, and the futility of a war embedded within a vicious cycle of retaliation. Nevertheless, the portrayal of vengeance as a major motivating force of the war, as well as the war s isolating and demoralizing effect on its witnesses, are better achieved in The Forever War. Contrary to the sole perspective of an American Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team in The Hurt Locker, Filkins includes multiple angles to explore each of the elements portrayed, and ultimately offers a more profound, subtle, and enduring explication than the film. Both The Hurt Locker and The Forever War discuss revenge as an integral part of the violent experience of the war. Bigelow begins this discussion by examining revenge as the rationale behind Sergeant James erratic and violent tendencies, and Filkins completes this discussion by thoroughly studying the prevalence of revenge as the propelling factor of violence. In The Hurt Locker, the largely unpredictable character of Sergeant William James becomes primarily understood by his desire to avenge the supposed death of Beckham, a young Iraqi boy from whom he buys DVDs. • 8. Examples Of Perception Vs Reality In A Midsummer Night s... Perception v.s Reality In A Midsummer Night s Dream, perception versus reality becomes a major aspect of the play because the contrast of the woods versus the city and love versus infatuation. In the woods there is much deception from the characters and fairies to make the lovers perceive love for each other which is actually just infatuation. The city is full of chaos and people telling each other what they need to do, but in the city the lovers still had some sort of control over their themselves. Now, the time has come to have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation of our souls. The temple is no longer needed. In effect, no longer we need to wait for the foreshadow of Jesus Christ, we no longer need to slain a sheep to cover our sins, we no longer need to seek God on an altar, as he dwells within us through the Holy Spirit. God has never given us a spirit of fear, rather a spirit of faith in Jesus Christ. Under those circumstances, when Jesus declared, I am the way, is the reason why Jews hated Him. As a result, they were intolerance with Him and Christians, until this day. The Bible speaks of Jesus Christ becoming the stumbling rock for the Jews by not accepting his vicarious death. Culture is used to define certain aspects of our lives and how we live on a daily basis. There are some that believe that they do not possess a culture. There are others who feel that we all live our own individual unique culturein our lives. However, being that culture is such a broad subject, the only way to define it is to operationalize its context and attempt to try and understand it based on a universal definition. Sergiovanni and Corbally s (1986) definition of culture includes a system of values, symbols, and shared meanings in a group that includes embodying these values, symbols, and shared meanings in ritualize practice. Using this particular definition of culture, the small island of Okinawa is enriched with it. I will also focus on how television has been constructed for women and how this assumed viewer affects the way in which a programme is structured and its style. Television has frequently been described as to some degree feminised medium and tends to be associated around the domestic sphere. Coronation Street and this episode accomplishes this using different varieties of female characters that they hope will represent the female viewership and have a depiction of both the traditional woman and the modern woman. An example of this is Sally Webster, who is the embodiment of the modern working woman. To the audience it would appear that she has a certain aura of confidence and authority, especially around male characters such as her husband. However, within this episode, she also shows her maternal and nurturing side when she is talking about her daughter being upset and that she wanted to go and see her. Frost writes his sonnet differently than the accepted norm of the time, and his subject is unlike any other: exploring the identity of a young adult. Frost, as usual, puts a spin on the normal conventions of poetry. He leans toward the English sonnet, writing in iambic pentameter with fourteen lines separated into three quatrains a set of four lines and a couplet set apart at the end. However, Frost sets an unusual rhyme scheme for a sonnet. He rhymes each of his lines in pairs, or couplets. In lines 1 8, the speaker deals with the idea of adolescent identity ( Into My Own by Robert Frostpara. 2). Note that the title isn t On My Own, which would suggest a need for independence, but Into My Own, suggesting a transformation from child into mature individual (Literary Analysis into my own para.1). After the Great Fire, parts of the remains of Old St Paul s were patched up as a temporary cathedral. The structure, however, was in a very bad shape, and in May 1668, after a fall of the remains of the building materials fell; Wren was asked to submit proposals for a new cathedral. Wren s first proposal, The First Model , was quickly neglected, because it was said to be too modest. His second proposal was a mimic of the Greek cross. It was a classical style of the Italian Renaissance, it was centrally planned, and the main interior space was set beneath an enormous dome, and auxiliary spaces were located around the sides. But the clergy, who were only familiar with cathedrals whose designs, were Romanesque or Gothic, and were not familiar to classical architecture in his design, quickly through out the new design. His third design, The Warrant Design , was still classical architecture, but it was based on the criticisms of the Greek cross design. In previous years homosexuals interested in the adoption process would use foster care to acquire the same nurturing family that heterosexuals had acquired thus, circumventing the system. The unconstitutional ban had the ability to deter potential same sex adoptive parents because they feared automatic exclusion. With the increased pressure from the gay community to allow same sex adoptions many adoption agencies are becoming more accommodating to homosexuals. However, the obstacles that same sex couples encounter tend to minimize the whole family structure and make the family unit vulnerable (Brown, Smalling, Groza, Ryan, 2009). Also same sex couples encounter individuals who subconsciously and consciously discriminate through a variety of behaviors including evident harassment or social exclusion (Brown, Smalling, Groza, Ryan, 2009). Charles Barkley, a professional basketball player, said in a popular Nike ad, I m not a role model. Just because I dunk a basketball doesn t mean I should raise your kids (Don t forget bout me u dipwad!!!). This sparked the debate; Should pro athletes be role models? Children need a true hero to look up to, and these athletes satisfy that need. These athletes show the features of a hero, not a criminal. According to Tom Keane, a former Boston city councilor and Boston Globe Columnist, wrote this in an article: The rate of arrest of pro athletes for assault and domestic violence was less than half that of the general population. This applied for other crimes as well. It seems as if NFL players are committing so many crimes because every time they do, they make the news (Keane 2 3). So instead of breaking the law, these athletes are actually just training. An athlete usually work more than 40 hours a week for several months (Athletes and Sports Competitors 1). Still to this day, her teachings and work to advance nursing is discussed. The nursing profession has grown and evolved a great deal since the times of Nightingale. However, visionaries such as her and their theories have been the ones making that happen. The first three American training schools for nurses, modeled after Nightingale s famous school at St. Thomas Hospital in London, opened in 1873 (Black, 2014, p. 26). As nursing grew and more work was done to advance nursing as a profession, the developing of professional associations such as ANA and NLNE helped further that goal. Although it has never been a better time to be a woman, people today treat women with disrespect. A reason women are treated this way is because of religion and the societies that surround them. Some religions have put women down and morphed the image of women to fulfill their religious views. Two of these aforementioned religions are Hinduism and Christianity. These religions have made out women to be lower than men in both similar and different ways. Hinduism and Christianity put women in a negative light and it effects the women in their communities. • 40. Gender Inequality Of The Work Force For centuries, human beings have constantly dealt with various forms of discrimination; whether it is religion, race, gender or other factors that make individuals different from one another, discrimination occurs every day. Inequality in the work force is a type of discrimination that is prevalent globally. Females, who are as equally educated, trained and experienced as their male colleagues, are not receiving equal pay resulting in a genderwage gap. According to a study conducted by Christianne Corbett, M.A. and Catherine Hill, Ph.D. (2012), women, around the age of 23, who graduated from the same post secondary school as men in 2008 and who were employed full time in 2009 earned 82 cents for every dollar that men earned. Moreover, after many years of a consistent female to male earnings ratio of approximately 60%, the relative salary of females started to increase sharply in the late 1970s, with a continuous, yet slower and more fluctuated rise thereafter (Blau and Kahn, 2016). The Institute for Womans Policy Research (IWPR) has tracked this trend and predicted that it will likely take 45 more years for females to ultimately reach wage parity with males (Hegewisch and DuMonthier, 2010). With the increased opportunity for careers and contribution in the workplace by men and women, alike, the gender wage gap continues to be an important social issue in modern society. The Use of Structure in a Shakespearean Play: Structure in Henry the V Authors use structure in their written or performed pieces of work to further the reader or viewer s understanding of the plot, to illuminate and widen the perception of a certain text. This is so in the case of Shakespeare and his many plays; Shakespeare makes incredibly meticulous use of the structure and order in which the events occur to more specifically make the point he is anticipating the reader to grasp. Many authors do this, but Shakespeare deserves a closer look, as he is one of the most famous, if not the most famous, classic literature artist who understood this concept broadly. A Midsummer Night s Dream, Julius Caesar, and Hamletall display Shakespeare s understanding of the rhythm of events that contribute to the overall understanding of a piece of work. Moreover, Henry V is a play that does this with a magnanimity of eloquence, in which Shakespeare arranges the speeches, wars, and comedy in a perfect chronological order to please the reader. Most of Shakespeare s work ends in the protagonist, depending on how many there are, tragically dying and leaving the reader or viewer motionless, irritated at the fact that the story will not go on with that character. Summary of Evidence : Critical Analysis of the sources indicates that Ferdinand Porsche had made a large impact on Germany s efforts during World War 2. Due to his affiliation and close relation to Hitler he had been tasked with many engineering projects that had come to the aid of Germany s military forces and perhaps had become the economic miracle that Germany was in need of with his success of the VW beetle. By diving into the sources I have found that Porsche s early stages began by supplying German troops with new aviation technology as well as tanks known as the Elefant. An interview conducted at Porsche Centre Johannesburg which is one of the largest centres in the world clearly back these sources. It was made clear to me by the interviewee that the roots of the Porsche company do indeed stem from a military and agricultural background. However Ferdinand Porsche also had a strong relationship with the USSR which seemed to cause some doubts. By reviewing the German Economy during World War 2 it was clear that Germany was in need of an economic miracle in order to save it as their economy had taken a large hit during the war. The sources clearly point that the success of the VW Beetle did indeed help to resurrect the economy but however the economy had already bled out by then. Did you know U.S. Immigration and customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested more than 41,300 undocumented immigrants in the 100 days since president Trump signed a pair of executive orders tightening border security and cracking down on sanctuary cities (Bendix). Well in many cases these undocumented immigrants are simply looking for better living in the United Statesfor the fact that where they come from it s hard to find stable jobs, good living and education. The reason why president Trump signed a pair of executive orders was to get rid of undocumented immigrants with a criminal record or who pose a threat to national security remain a priority for the agency (Homan). For this reason, preventing undocumented immigrants with a criminal record should not come to the U.S. to prevent violence into the U.S. also undocumented immigrants come to the U.S looking for good stable jobs and housing; even though it can be scary for them because they could get caught by (ICE) they still take risks for their families to have the right education and opportunities they never had back home. It s not right to prevent undocumented immigrants from other countries to come to the U.S. unless they have a criminal record. In the U.S. there has been cases of undocumented immigrants who have been arrested that have criminal records, According to Wednesday s report, nearly 75 percent of undocumented ... • 53. Selma March Research Paper The Selma marches have had an immense impact on United States history. In 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed. Even after its passing, many southern states were still segregated and nothing really changed. The Selma marches were three marches that protested the state of Alabama for its discrimination against African Americans. The state of Alabama made it hard for African Americans to register to vote and even the few who were registered had a hard time voting. These marches had a big impact on African Americans living the United States. Because of the Selma marches, LBJ signed the Voting Rights Act in 1965. • 55. The Pros And Cons Of Sex Work What is sex work? An official definition does not exist, however American Jewish World Service refers to sex work as the act of providing sexual services in exchange for money, goods, or favors. There are many different forms of sex work, some are legal and some are illegal. Some are legal in certain geographic locations, but illegal in others. In this industry, certain labor is more stigmatized than others. Criminalized sex work, such as prostitution, is very stigmatized. Exotic dancing does not hold quite the same stigma because it is legal in the United States. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics as of September 2016, there are 400,000 strippers employed by US strip clubs. Despite the significant amount of woman who work in this industry, there is a stigma being carried around that is potentially deadly. It has been proven there is a link between anti sex work rhetoric and an increase of violence against sex workers. (Penfold, Hunter, Campbell, Barham 2010). A systematic review of the link between sex work and violence determined that 45 75% of sex workers chance experiencing sexual violence at some point in their careers. (Deering et al., 2014). According to data from Medscape, one in five police reports of sexual assault from an urban emergency room were filed by sex workers. These women were generally younger, poorer, and suffered a greater number of injuries than other victims. (Koster 2015). The impact of this rhetoric is qualitatively different depending ... Well, Sean Covey attempted to write one such book, drawing information from his father s book and directing it towards the teenager. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens offers great advice for teenagers wanting to have more peace and control over their lives. One of the most helpful advice Sean gives is to focus on your Personal Bank Account (PBA). This idea coincides with the sharpen the saw habit, even though Sean introduces the PBA at the beginning of the book rather than with the seventh habit. It s important that the information of a PBA is at the beginning because we must first win the private victory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He called it the Relationship Bank Account (RBA). Some of the things Sean suggests to making deposits into your RBA is keeping promises, doing small acts of kindness, being loyal, listening, and setting clear expectations. It s important to note that many of these things are also on the PBA list. Building others also builds yourself. Sean gave the example of the two seas in Palestine. It s an excerpt from Bruce Barton s The Man Nobody Knows. This excerpt describes how full of life and joy the Sea of Galilee is compared to the poisoned Dead Sea. Both of these seas are fed by the River Jordan, but the Sea of Galilee is also as an outlet; it gives whereas the Dead sea only receives. Barton compares this to people and how giving will benefit others as well as yourself, yet there is no reward for being selfish. I always try to give as much as I can. I love Mother Teresa s quote, Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.
