Free Will
The Concept of Free Will Free will is the ability to make your choices in life without having any
consequences. We may feel the existence of free will until we start thinking and then figure out
there really is not. Thus, free will is nothing other than just an illusion. The moment a person is
born, they are confined to a land of law, a set biological makeup, and environmental factors that
are beyond their control. Hence, human beings do not have free will and ultimate responsibilities
thus the punishment for their misdeeds are not justifiable. A human can very well do what he
wants, but cannot will what he wants. Einstein. We, people, consider ourselves as a free being as
we think we are capable of making our choices as per our need and... Show more content on

Hence, we are not responsible for our misdeeds as we do not have free will. Let us take an
example of a computer system. Computers do not have its user makes free will and all its
choices. For instance, the computer you just bought spending lot of money is affected by a
virus that duplicates your file and makes it accessible to other users within the network. Would
you shut it down and put it in your basement for its misdeed holding it responsible or take it to
the technician and get it fixed? Another thing to question would be, if one should be punished for
misdeeds if they are mentally ill. People that are mentally ill do not have the capability of
functioning in the society like most other people do. This is due to impairments of the brain that
is way beyond anyone s control. In some court cases, this disability is highly considered. If the
criminal does not have the free will to perform these misdeeds, how can they be held accountable
for such wrong

Analysis Of The Movie The Rye
Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The novel has been able to withstand
the test of time without ever making it to the big screen. Present day with a movie of the
bestselling novel is coming soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book. This
includes, lighting, a flawless director, a cluster of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but
certainly not least, a soundtrack that will knock the viewer of the movie into a sense of
amazement. A soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a
character in the scene is crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be strange if
music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience
what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a critical position
in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more than just the scenes they are
played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major themes in the movie. A great
selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . In this
song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout sentences that just come to head like the stream of
consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he usually is trying to get
to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the entire book has been trying to
come to some finish line . With this song as the opening, it

Time to Reduce Nuclear Dangers by Garwin and Gronlund
According to the Arms Control Association, as of 2013 there was roughly 15,494 deployed and
non deployed nuclear warheads between the five nuclear weapon states. The argument of
whether or not nuclear weapons should be reduced in the United States is starting to arise.
Nuclear weapons have the power to kill millions of people and lots of land. This is an issue that
can t be ignored. Nuclear weapons should be reduced in the United States because it s a danger to
the world and could ruin this Earth and eventually its people.
The United States can have fewer nuclear weapons without putting our nations security in
jeopardy. If we have just a little less nuclear power we could still have power over other
countries but not too much power. However, some may argue that having a lot of nuclear
weapons on and keeps the United States safe from harm. Robert Spalding said, The U.S. nuclear
force exists to keep a threshold on the level of violence. While nuclear weapons are a useful source
of defense, it s still overdone to the point where it s too much. The Pentagon, the headquarters of the
United States defense, even thinks the nation should reduce its nuclear weapon number. Garwin
and Gronlund said in their article, According to news reports, the Pentagon has concluded that the
United States can meet its security needs with fewer deployed weapons perhaps 1,000. If our
country isn t using our extra nuclear weapons, we could afford to get rid of only 1,000 of them. As

Why We Need An Urban County Government
Why We Need an Urban County Government
For too long this area has taken a back seat to the larger cities around us. We need to join the rest
of the progressive regions in this state and establish a new, more efficient form of government.
Pulaski County and the cities of Somerset, Science Hill, Ferguson, and Burnside need to merge
together and create an urban county government. This will help to consolidate duplicate services,
provide better representation for the citizens of Pulaski County, and strengthen the economy in this
region.
We live in a magnificent part of the state of Kentucky. We have picturesque landscapes, really
pleasant residents, and a magnificent lake that supports a huge part of our economy through tourism.

As a result, it is possible for the citizens to vote to implement this type of government. Therefore, in
April of 2013 the Somerset Pulaski County United group formed and began the process of having
feasibility studies done to see if the formation of an urban county government would be an
alternative that would serve our area well. According to the Commonwealth Journal, a newspaper in
Somerset, Kentucky, A group of about 60 community leaders, clustered as Somerset Pulaski County
United (SPCU), is embarking on a study to determine if a consolidated or united government in
Pulaski County would be more efficient and more responsive to the county s 63,000 residents.
(Mardis and Shmidheiser). This group, a cross section that well represents the residents of this
county, believes that the formation an urban county government is a great opportunity for all our
futures.
Unfortunately, the SPCU has faced much antagonism in this initial phase of work. Many current
government leaders are afraid of what changes might do to their positions of power. But these
same leaders are also the ones who create problems and allow current ones to continue. Having a
council of peers will give a voice everyone in the area, not just the few who reside in the

Militarism In Ww1
War World War I (WWI). Words that bring back some horrid memories of an unpleasant time. The
War of 1914 1919, fought with tanks, airplanes, trenches, machine guns and more. Fought in forms
of Alliances such as the Triple Entente, including France, Russia, and Great Britain. Also the
Triple Alliance, which includes, Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy. Fought in the countries of
France, Italy, Russia and Turkey. The Great War, caused by many events such as imperialism and
alliances, but militarism out of all was the underlying (main) cause to the start of one of the
bloodiest wars. To begin, imperialism plays a key role in the start of, WWI. Imperialism is the
practice to extend power, to control or rule by one country over areas outside... Show more content

Militarism was the belief or desire of a government or the people should maintain a strong
military and ready to use it when needed and aggressively to defend or promote national
interests. Building up your army can be a major set of to other countries, making them feel as if
they are about to get attacked. Also other countries would want to have more power than the
others so they would have a competition that could lead to war. For example, evidence shows in
a chart by Richard Overy, in 1999, all the countries were building up their armies and navy and
spending lots of money on them. This can cause war because if the other countries saw that
another country has a good military they wouldn t want to be unprepared and they start building
up their army and then all hell breaks loose. Another example written in, The Hammer or the
Anvil , by Bernhard von Bulow; he writes, There is no welfare for us without power, without a
strong army and a strong fleet. (Bulow 1). This shows to readers that they were readying
themselves for some kind of war. This shows to readers that militarism is obviously the underlying
cause for WWI, because without a military there would be no

The Costing Method Is An Accounting Process
A1. Costing Method Costing Method is an accounting process that assesses itemized input costs of
production and fixed costs to determine overall costs of production. (Kucera, n.d.) Competition
Bikes is performing this analysis so management can determine the optimum sales units to
breakeven from its San Diego plant based on the current sales mix of 9 Titanium bicycles for every
5 CarbonLite bicycles produced. Traditional costing is an easily implemented costing method that
aligns with generally accepted accounting principles, GAAP. Traditional costing is the distribution
of manufacturing overhead costsacross the number of products produced based or another volume
based metric. Traditional costing is very simplistic in the fact that it doesn t allocate out any
nonmanufacturing costs. Traditional costing allocates costs to generic buckets such as direct
material, direct labor and other overhead. Activity based costing (ABC) was developed as a costing
method to overcome the weaknesses of traditional costing. ABC allocates costs to every activity, or
manufacturing task, associated in the production of an item. ABC is more accurate than traditional
costing. Competition Bikes grouped the following as tasks associated with the manufacturing of
bicycles; Factory Setups, Quality Control, Engineering Service, Product Movements, Utilities, and
Depreciation. (Johnson, n.d.) In Competition Bikes data analysis of traditional verses activity based
costing, the differences in costs is

Pride In Julius Caesar Essay
Such men as he be never at heart s ease Whiles they behold a greater than themselves, (Julius
Caesar, Act 1, Scene 2, lines 208 09) When Caesar pronounces these words to Mark Antony, he is
speaking about Cassius, saying that he be never at heart s ease, meaning that Cassius feels
distressed about his life. Caesar implies that men like Cassius will never be entirely content while
others behold a greater than themselves, suggesting that these men will never feel comfortable with
themselves when there are other men in the world that are much more well off than they are, which
includes holding a higher social ranking. These concepts Caesar contributes in his dialogue relate
closely to the well known story of Cain and Abel, found in the Book of Genesis. In the famous Old
Testament story, Cain, a crop farmer, and Abel, a shepherd, are brothers with an interesting twist to
their story. The story begins as Cain and Abel are bringing offering to God, where Cain has gathered
some fruit and Abel has brought the very best of his flock to offer to God. Because Abel had
offered his very best to God, he had regard for his offering, but because Cain had not extended his
best towards God, God had no regard for his fruit and was cast down, essentially lowering his rank.

He later lured his brother out to a field, then he killed him. Cain did this because he was never at
heart s ease with his new ranking with God. After murdering Abel, God punished Cain by never
permitting Cain to die or be killed, forcing him to wander the earth wretchedly. After inspecting the
quote from Julius Caesar, it is clear that there are similarities between the concepts that Caesar had
spoken and the related ideas from the story of Cain and Abel in the Book of

NCAA findings also included unethical conduct by the former coach, extra benefits, preferential

was closed that involved former coach Kelvin Sampson making impermissible recruiting phone
calls which also put the program on probation (Associated Press, 2011). The NCAA however did
not label the school as a repeat violator , although it qualifies, due to the severe penalties it will

governing body s mission, and core values it commits itself to which include: respect, pursuit of
excellence in both academics and athletics and the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship

Essay about Arguing Evolution
Arguing Evolution
There is a blurry and indistinct line between giving the best possible scientific support for a theory
in which one strongly believes that has only incomplete evidence, and writing a persuasive piece
that will draw people to one side of an argument based on feelings as well as facts. Indeed, there
may be no line at all, upon close inspection, but that would be an unpleasant thought to most
scientists, who value their ability to write objective reports on subjects and end up with one best
answer, because science possesses answers that are definitely and provably better than other
answers.
Unfortunately it is impossible to find all the facts needed to support some theories, and sometimes
scientific theories get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Creationists, who are the main opponents of evolution, rarely hold unbiased debates over
unvarnished facts; that kind of debate is a scientific convention, and has little relevance to religion.
With the debate over evolution only half in the world of science unbiased debates cannot really be
used, because they only apply to the methods of one side of the debate. So emotion laden, vague
arguments are the norm.
Mayr is not, however, on the Creationist side of the debate. So would it be possible for him to
write a proper scientific report? He is, after all, writing about science. The problem with that idea
is that if he is facing off against the Creationists he must find some common battle field on which
they can meet to argue. If Creationists argue solely in terms of faith and scientists argue solely in
terms of facts they will be unable to have a discussion, because the two arguments never meet. Faith
has no more impact on facts than facts do on faith. So Creationists must make use of facts and
scientists must address emotions so that they can even debate the topic.
So arguments for one side or the other must absorb some of the traits of the opposition, but must
this be an argument? What Is Evolution? seems to be presented as an explanation of evolution,
which would conform to a definition of objective writing; the goal of objective writing is to inform

Ball Turret Gunner
There are three elements employed by Randall Jarrell in his poem, The Death of the Ball Turret
Gunner, which illustrate the cycle of life and death of the gunner. The utilization of rhythm, use of
imagery, and sequencing of events profoundly impact the development of the theme which
conveys sending young people to fight a war is essentially ending life before it begins. Each
element is evidenced in all five lines of the one stanzapoem. Understanding these elements allows
readers to grasp the troublesome concept of death through warfare in just five short lines.
The author of the poem The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner purposely writes it without a fixed
structure of rhythm or rhyme. Composing strict metrical patterns or rhyme schemes ... Show more

This is because of the sequencing of events in the five short lines. The way in which it was
written mimics the life cycle of humans particularly the gunner s. The poem begins by
referencing the complete safety of the gunner while protected inside of his mother s womb.
Beginning with the mother s womb is significant because it provides the depiction of the womb
for all five lines. As he falls out abruptly into the State of warfare, his is still hunched into a fetal
position like that of a newborn animal. Because he is still hunched in this position, the poem
implies that the gunner was not ready for the challenges that he was forced to face. This womb
is not as friendly or comforting as his mothers, and it foreshadows the dangers to come. He
awakens from his state of childlike innocence to imminent danger and the nightmare of death. He
is promptly murdered which demonstrates how the gunner proceeded straight from the sleep of
childhood to the sleep of death, which is likened to an abortion. The brevity of the poem mimics
the brevity of the gunner s life, and the stages of the gunner s life are squeezed together in order to
illustrate how quickly the gunner s life was taken from him. The poem jumps from birth to death
with barely any mention of the eighteen or nineteen years in between. The poet views the young
soldiers as unnecessary sacrifices who are born just to die.

Pros And Cons Of Hacking
Hacking is the process of attempting to gain or successfully gain, unauthorized access to computer
resources. Nowadays this technology has become a crime due to these aspects, we should not
neglect using the technologies for such criminal aspects, and instead we can use it in the better
manner like security purpose.
The Oxford English dictionary, states that there are three main definitions of hack in English:
hacking as cut with rough or heavy blows: hack off the dead branches, gain unauthorized access to
data in a computer: hacking private information from computers, and lastly a piece of computer
code providing a quick or inelegant solution to a particular problem: this hack doesn t work on

The 1982 movie Gandhi, starring Ben Kingsley and Candice...
The 1982 movie Gandhi, starring Ben Kingsley and Candice Bergen had both strengths and
weaknesses. One of the movies weaknesses was that it left a lot of gaps. It is understandable
why they had to leave a lot of gaps. The movie was supposed to depict the whole life of Gandhi.
If they had of put every detail of Gandhi s life, every year of every sentence he spent in jail, the
movie would be way longer than three plus hours. I just think that they could have better picked
and chosen which parts to leave out because at times it left you confused, which leads me to my
next weakness. At times it was hard to understand what exactly was going on. As a person who is

Now to discuss my opinion of the 1982 movie Gandhi. In my opinion the 1982 movie Gandhi
was extremely inspirational. Most movies now days are just about things that appeal to the
majority of people who actually go watch, buy, or download movies: people under the age of 40.
They stream ideas and philosophies common and relatable to these people. Gandhi is a movie
that I feel was strictly objective. It presented the facts in a way that it was only the facts. Also, I
think that the 1982 movie Gandhi was very interesting. The movie though very long, held my
attention the majority of the time. At times it would get boring and even sleep worthy but then
it would show a scene of a group of soldiers massacre a peaceful mob of people. Also, I think that
the intermission that they added to the movie was unnecessary. The movie was long enough by
itself the intermission only added an unneeded twenty minutes to the movie. I appreciate the
consideration that the creators tried to extent toward the watchers but I also feel that any
methods they could have used to shorten the 1982 movie Gandhi should have been used. A three
plus hour long movie is a lot for any one person to sit through. Also, I think that the 1982 movie
Gandhi had a great story line. If I was just someone who randomly decided to watch Gandhi I
would be caught by the overall amazement of the movie. The 1982 movie Gandhi was an action
movie, a romance movie, and a comedy all rolled

True Dimensionality of Space-Time
Allan Poe states in his essay on cosmology titled Eureka, that space and duration are one. To
many, this is portrayed as the first known instance of suggesting space and time to be joined
together as one thing. Albert Einstein s 1905 theory of special relativity is the very beginning of a
theory related concept of spacetime, but the first mathematical theory of spacetime actually created
by one of his own early teachers named Hermann Minkowski. He created the concept of
Minkowski Spacewhich is the earliest recommendation to the treatment of space and time as two
separate entities of one unified whole. The idea of Minkowski space has led up to special relativity
being viewed more so in a geometrical way rather than a scientific and mathematical way.
Minkowski space is described as the mathematical formation for which special relativity can be
conveniently formulated. In this setting the three dimensions of space are combined with one
dimensionof time to create a four dimensional whole expressed together as spacetime.
It would be considered extremely important to consider the events that space and time can
ultimately affect each other and how space and time are used in cosmological research. However,
before touching base with the concept of space time, it seems appropriate to tie together the two
basic types of dimensions and how they are ultimately applied to each other. Space time is closely
linked with Albert Einstein s theory of special relativity, mathematician

Chris Kyle and William James are both dedicated warriors that had spent hundreds of hours

Observation of Moon’s Phases Essay
The moon is by far the biggest and most easily recognizable object in earth s atmosphere that can
be perceived by the naked eye on a cloudless night. It is hypothesized that it came into existence
nearly 4.5 billion years ago, from residual debris after a planetary body collided with earth.
Although, considered the runner up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its
illumination is deceitful, insomuch as the moonis not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun s
illumination from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. More

In the full moon phase the side of the moon that can be observed from earth becomes illuminated
by the sun n its entirety. Lastly, the aforementioned illuminated portion begins to shrink or wane
and thus the moon is considered to be in the waning gibbous phase, meaning that the illuminated
portion is constricts in size or diameter every day. Astrological calendars have been in existence
since ancient times where time was measured according to the number of Moons that had passed
in a certain period, or in consonance with the shadows that were cast by either the Sun or Moon.
Solar years are calculated based on the sun s motions, whereas lunar years are mutually based on
the moons motions. A lunar year consists of approximately 354 days, whereas there are 365
days in solar year. By virtue of the eleven day disparity between a solar and lunar year, an
additional month is added to the lunar calendar every three years, and as for the solar calendar,
every fourth year, a leap day is added to the month of February. A lunar year is comprised of
twelve lunar months, which corresponds to the time that elapses as the moon carries out each of
its phases and proceeds to its position of origin. In contrast, a solar month is one twelfth of a solar
year, given that a solar year is span of time that elapses as the Earth completes a single revolution
around the sun. Despite the peculiar weather patterns that befell the

Anti-Semitism In Canada
Has Canada always been the positive and peaceful country everyone sees today?
Canada is seen as this peaceful country with an extremely polite population. Where no
discrimination or conflict occurs. This usually the point of view of people out of canada who have
heard stories about his country. The truth is before Canadahas became this peaceful, a lot of
horrible events and discrimination occurred. Such the discrimination against First Nations, the
Jews, the germans and the Japanese.
The First Nations were one of canada s first victims. They were discriminated against, their land
was taken away, their culture was destroyed and their children were taken to residential schools.
They were called savages and were discriminated giants The europeans in Canada at that time

There is a wide range of equipment used in the training process of horses. The training methods

The Pathetic Jay Gatsby of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby...
The Pathetic Jay Gatsby of The Great Gatsby
Pathetic is a term used to describe someone who is pitifully
unsuccessful. Success is not necessarily measured in wealth or fame, but
it is measured by how much one has accomplished in life. A successful
person is one who has set many goals for himself and then goes out in life
and accomplishes some of them, but goes on living even if failing on others.
In the novel The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby is a pathetic character because
he wasted his whole life chasing an unrealistic dream.

Gatsby is pathetic because he behaves like a child and he cannot

Pros And Cons Of Androcentricsim
Androcentricsim is a way to view the world but only through a masculine view. For decades,
women have not been seen as equals to mean but as the successors of men. This is no different
when it comes to studies made in medicine. It was believed that what treatments that were made
from men were just as effective for women. Androcentricism is a theory that is not as effective
as it has been in the past because it is violates the ethical principles of women. Medicines are
created to either help a citizen with chronic issues that he or she may face or to help relieve a
citizen of acute issues that he or she may be currently facing. These medications are not made
solely for men, but they are also made to for women as well. However, women have... Show more

The principle of nonmaleficence, the principle of beneficence, the principle of equality, and the
principle of autonomy are different principles that all correlate and that scientist restrict from
women. The overall definition of the principle of nonmaleficence means above all, do no harm
(Munson and Lague, page 933). However, harm to women occurs when women take dosages of
medications that are based around the size and build of men. Women are not made the same as
men, therefore their dosages should not be the same as men. The principle of beneficence is
connected to this principle because it ultimately means we should act in ways that promote the
welfare of other people (Munson and Lague, page 935). However, this principle is violated when
scientist do not take into consideration that a woman s side effects are not always the same as a
man, so their symptoms should be taken just as seriously as a man. The principle of equality is
connected to this principle because it ultimately means that all benefits and burdens are to be
distributed equally (Munson and Lague, page 939). Women are not given the opportunity to have
equal benefits and burdens as men because they are restricted from the trials because they have

A Primer On Corporate Governance
Kluyver, C. (2013). A primer on corporate governance (2nd ed.). New York, NY: Business Expert
Press. Introduction: In my review of A Primer on Corporate Governance by Cornelis A. de
Kluyver I intend to examine, evaluate, and break down his key points. The book provides a
general view on how corporations govern themselves, and the internal and external forces that
effect and constrain them. The biggest external force is of course the US Government and the
variety of laws and regulations imposed upon corporations. Internally, they are managed by the
CEO and board of directors along with a set group of committees and corporate guidelines. Its
purpose is to help educate and guide its readers towards a better understanding of what forces
govern business behavior and the most important roles of goals of the CEO and board of
directors, and common issues that occur. I found it to be very informative, if a little dry, and it
really helped broaden my views on what goes on behind the closed doors of major corporations.
Background Information: The article is written to help readers gain a solid understanding the roles
of corporate governance, both inside and outside the company. Its goal is simply to impart
information, not make claims or arguments on its own. I will be judging it mainly on the sources
gathered, numerous examples and explanations given and the overall effectiveness it possesses in
effectively communicating its ideas. Summary: The main points of this book are discussing

Abstract
The experiments conducted for this lab report focused on water contamination and filtration.
Experiment 1 was effects of groundwater contamination. Oil, vinegar, and laundry detergent were
added to clean water with no means of filtration. The clean water was found to be contaminated. A
filtration system consisting of cheesecloth and 60 ml of soil was created and the contaminated
samples were filtered through it. The soil and cheese cloth did not affectively filter the
contaminants. Experiment 2 focused on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beakers 5 8 were set aside for later use. I then recorded by observation of beaker 1 in Table 1 on
the Lab Reporting Form; this included smell, color, etc. 10 mL of vegetable oil was added to
beaker 2, 10 mL of vinegar to beaker 3, and 10 mL of liquid laundry detergent to beaker 4. Each
beaker was mixed thoroughly with a wooden stir stick. My observations such as color and smell
were annotated in Table 1 on the Lab Reporting Form. Next, I cut the cheesecloth into five
different pieces. I took one piece of cheesecloth and folded it so it was 4 layers thick. I then
placed it into the funnel. 60 mL of soil was measured out using the 100 mL beaker and placed
into the cheesecloth lined funnel. The funnel was then put inside beaker 5. The contents of
beaker 1 (water) were poured through the funnel and let filter for 1 minute into beaker 5. My
observations were recorded on Table 1 on the Lab Reporting Form. I repeated the process of
creating a filter of cheesecloth and soil and filtered the contents of beaker 2 (vegetable oil) into
beaker 6, beaker 3 (vinegar) to beaker 7, and beaker 4 (detergent) to beaker 8. All observations were
recorded on Table 1. Experiment 2: Water Treatment

Childhood memories are sometimes covered and obscured beneath the things that come later, like
childhood toys forgotten at the bottom of a crammed adult closet, but they are never lost for good
(Gailman, 5). The young boy in the story returns to his childhood home as an adult and recalls his
memories. As he walks down his lane, the novels protagonist goes from a young man to himself as
a young boy. The young boy shows how a child sees the world around them, while the parents show
how adults see the world. The child s creativity, imaginative, and innocent mind is let loose through
the same situation as the adults from a different perspective. The memories from the neighbor s
farm begin to come back to him and when he sees the pond the smallest memories begin to return.
He recalls that the pond used to be call the ocean by the young girl Lettie. The magic as he recalls
began with his family car and continues to an unknown world in which he brings back an
unknowing monster. The young boys spiritial enlightenment begins as the two children travel
through this unknown world. The enlightenment continues as the different experiences occur
throughout the time that the monster is present. This monster, Ursula, turns into his nanny quickly

Feminists would not agree with this graph because they believe men live longer than men,
women would suggest that women are being more deprived as they are seen as the more
emotional gender and also that they are being disadvantaged because they believe that they are
ruled by the men. They believe that men get the higher jobs than women for example, men can
be builders, coal miner s etc. men are seen to have more physical hard labour jobs compared to
women because women are seen to be house wives and have less hard laboured jobs for
example, cooking, cleaning and childcare. If a man and a woman both applied to be a head
teacher its more than likely that the man would get the job because of the fact women have
children and would maternity leave which is having time off work. Although one of the reasons
why women tend to live longer is because they are seen to be more health conscious for
example, if they even have a small sign of illness they tend to go to the doctors to get medication
or help to cure the illness whereas when it comes to men, they don t seek help until the illness or
disease gets really bad even when it s almost too late to cure.
D1: Feminists actually contradict their selves by saying men live longer than themselves and also
that men rule over women making them the deprived gender although women actually live longer
than men due to the facts I went through in M2. In feminism, they don t

Usefulness And Effectiveness Of The Employee Voice
Literature Review
This Literature Review will discuss the usefulness and effectiveness of the employee voice, the use
of engagement surveys, what employee engagement is, and examine the links between and the
affect of the psychological contract, and its similarities to motivation, and to what impact do line
managers have on engagement overall, which relates to the research objectives for this report.
As defined by Daniels (2010) a combination of commitment to the organisation and its values and a
willingness to help out colleagues (organisational citizenship). It goes beyond job satisfaction and is
not simply motivation. Engagement is something the employee has to offer, it cannot be required
as part of the employment contract. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are listened to and the employees see that their opinions count and make a difference.
Employees speak out and challenge management where appropriate. A strong sense of listening
and of responsiveness permeates the organisation, enabled by effective communication Gennard
at el (2014) p.329. Although Marchington (2010) argues traditionally, voice has been used
primarily in relation to union based and broader forms of participation, rather than direct
employee involvement, because this was seen as the principal way in which workers could gain
influence at work However the CIPD suggest that there are some benefits to directly
communication with staff and allowing for an employee voice. Employee voice is the means by
which employees communicate their views on employment and organisational issues to their
employers CIPD (2016). Marchington (2010) also claims more recently, analysis has shifted to
examine non union models of indirect voice. Overall the employee voice has influence as
suggested by the CIPD ( 2016) It s also seen as a central pillar of employee engagement. It is
difficult to assess in any useful way the level of employee engagement without systematically
consulting the employees themselves (Gennard at el 2014 p.317) As an attempt to address
engagement amongst employees, according to XpertHR (2016) Employers can use engagement
surveys to measure levels of engagement, which can help them to identify

Stolen Art of the Holocaust
While death was the major tragedy of the Holocaust, all of the art stolen was definitely a dark
spot. Most people don t realize, but the art was taken from all Jews and many others by the Nazis.
Some pieces of art have been found, but most still remain lost. Many that have been discovered are
in museums and are not given to the true owners. There should be efforts spent on finding and
recovering the art stolen by the Nazis to return it to their rightful owners. Hitler would have his
soldiers take the art from the homes where the Jewslived when they took them away. Sometimes,
if he wanted a specific work of art, he would have his people steal it or take it and kill the people
who owned it. He would have his men steal all of the art and other artifacts from the homes of
every person they took to the concentration camps, as well as those they simply killed in their
homes. Taking the art was his way of taking everything from them, and a way that he could show
his superiority over them. He took it because it was something they had that he wanted. Very few
works of art taken by Hitler have been found, and many that are discovered reside in museums.
Some have been discovered in museums or galleries in Austria, while thousands still remain lost.

Essay about Rational models and self evaluation
My supervisor requested a self evaluation in connection with an upcoming annual performance
review, the self evaluation was meant to answer questions regarding
A certain customer service decision and accommodations made by me that went beyond company
standard operating procedure and protocols.
Conio caca Graphics Imaging Corporation ordered my team to perform a systems installation for a
small publishing company in North Miami. The installation was to be performed according to
company standards; first the hardware which included an image setter and then a Mac Server

had no problem getting his work out during this period.
CRITERIA
The rational model assumes the solution with the highest sum should be selected as the optimal
decision. The identified criteria (7); customer satisfaction, operability, reliability, minimal
interruption of his business cycle, quality service, the application of Hi tech solutions to Hi tech
problems, compliance with company protocols. Seven criteria have been identified, each given
an equal weight of 1 point for succeeding and, (minus) 1 point for failing. Alternative 1 (leaving
the client high and dry waiting for a CD ROM) presented as 6x 1= 6 +1 (+1 for compliance with
my supervisors decision) produced a net result of 5. Computing the optimal decision (Bazerman,
Max H. Judgment in Managerial Decision Making, 5th edition. New York: John Wiley amp; Sons.
2002), meant using the same criteria applied to Alternative 2; assisting the client toward getting the
system operational and still comply with company requirements. The seven criteria yielded 6x1= 6
1 ( 1 for not complying with my supervisors decision) resulting in in an optimal decision net result
of +5.

Cognitive Style And Cognitive Style
Cognitive style, also known as thinking style, refers to the customary patterns of behaviors which
often emerge in cognitive process. Cognitive style is not significantly related to the ability of
thinking reasoning among students, mostly formed by attitude and expression during the process
of perception, memory and problem solving. Cognitive styleis individual differences in the
cognitive process with great varieties, such as field independent style and field dependent style,
reflective style and impulsive style, and wholist style and analytic style.

Difference between the US and UK Politial Systems
Possibly the most essential difference amid the United States and United Kingdom political systems
is the constitution or the absence of one. The United States has a written constitution as does a
large majority of nation states. The British do not have a distinct article called the constitution but
in its place its constitutional necessities are scattered over numerous Acts of Parliament. The United
States Constitutionis difficult to adjust and in present political conditions, maybe impracticable to
change in any significant respect. The Equal Rights Amendment which fought to provide equal
rights for women failed and there has been no victorious amendment of the US Constitution except
for one technical measure since 1971. What for realistic purposes constitutes the British
Constitution numerous Acts of Parliament can be altered by a simple majority in the legislature.
For example, the current Government presented set terms for the House of Commons by passing
the needed legislation. In the United States, political dialogue regularly makes references to the
constitution, usually Republicans arguing that Democratic proposals are Unlawful . Above and
beyond the fact that the United Kingdomdoes not obtain a constitution as such, it is uncommon for
British politicians to dispute that the actions or proposals of their opponents are unlawful. An
essential characteristic of the American constitution is the firm separation of the power of the
administrative, the legislature

Critical Analysis Of David Lindsay Abaire s Good People
Everybody has a class no matter if your poor or rich. Examining the difference between Southie
and Chestnut Hill you can tell which class is poor and which class is rich. Through Good People
, David Lindsay Abaire argues that rich people and poor people has a different life styles. This
can be seen through his use of imagery, characterization and conflict. In this play, David Lindsay
Abaire uses imagery to shows what type of life style that Southie and Chestnut Hill has. Firstly,
Southie has many poor people and broken things around them. For example, Abaire shows how
Southie s environment looks by the narration of the play, The alley behind the Dollar store.
There s a dumpster back there and a rusty chair and a door labelled Dollar store (5). Another way,
Chestnut Hill has many rich people and many expensive things. For example, Abaire narrates
about Mikes house in details, Lights up on a beautiful home. The living room takes up most of
the space. Up and left we may see part of a foyer that leads to the front door. Doorways and
corridors lead off to other parts of the house the kitchen, the dining room, maybe we see a
staircase that leads up to the bedroom (105). The author went into details to show how rich Mike
is. Again, Abaire is showing us that anyone from Southie will try their luck to get more money.
For example, Margret is playing bingo with her friends in a basement of a church, Margaret, jean
and Dottie are at a folding table in the basement of a

Wgu Human Resources Task 1
Dear Mr. Smith,
Upon investigation in to the claim of constructive discharge under the Title VII Civil Rights Act of
1964 my research found this claim to be irrelevant and unjustified. A constructive discharge happens
when an employee is legally justified in claiming that he/she was forced to resign because the
employer has made working conditions intolerable.
In our situation a complaint was never filed with the company letting us know the employee was
unhappy or giving us the opportunity to respond to the situation. Therefore the company was
unaware of creating an intolerable working condition for that employee and we did not intentionally
do it. The company experienced growth so the production schedule changed for all employees. The

We would need to review and make sure that all the appropriate measures are being taken in a
timely manner if someone complains about their working environment. Specific steps and
procedures need to be followed to protect our company and our employees. In Pennsylvania State
Police v. Suders (2004) the Supreme Court found that in order to establish constructive discharge a
plaintiff must show that the environment was so intolerable that resigning was the only option.
But the court also found that the plaintiff failed to avail herself of the internal reporting
procedures as she resigned two days after mentioning harassment to an official. The case supports
our position of not guilty because the employee who is filing charges against us did not follow the
company s internal reporting procedures. This would have allowed us to meet with the employee
to see if we could come to an agreeable solution. Internal reporting procedures are there to protect
everyone involved.
My final recommendation would be to make a statement to the employee filing charges against us
to inform them know that we are aware of the Code of Federal Regulations (Guidelines on
discrimination because of religion, 2009) and that we are willing to work with the individual to
find a solution. If the employee dropped the charges and came back to work for us then there are a
number of accommodations we would suggest such as

Calcarine Fissure
Overview: The calcarine fissure is a deep sulcus located on the medial surface of the occipital
lobe. This area of the brain is significant because it is the location of the primary visual cortex.
Location: The calcarine fissure is located on the medial surface of the occipital lobe in Brodmann
area 17. It runs from the parieto occipital sulcus posteriorly toward the occipital pole. The gyrus
forming the upper bank of the fissure is called the cuneus, and is where the upper portions of the
optic radiations terminate. The lower radiations terminate in the gyrus forming the lower bank of
the calcarine fissure, the lingula. Like other body structures, there can be individual variations in
both size and shape In a study cited by Damarel,

A Critical Concerns Surrounding The Tallit s Male...
When we walk into the sanctuary of any synagogue, the first sights we most likely see are the aron
hakodesh, the eternal lamp, and every man in the congregation wearing a tallit, the ritual prayer
shawl worn during weekday and Shabbat morning services. Now, we might also see women
wearing the tallit, too. In more recent years, women in synagogue have begun to wear the tallitas a
movement towards egalitarianism, taking religious practice into their own hands and projecting a
personal style to boot. In this paper, we will explore the critical concerns surrounding the tallit s
male dominated origins, the move by women to wear the tallit on practical and symbolic levels,
and the tallit as a method of personal expression.
The Origins of the Tallit
Based on the sea of tallitot we observe on men and women s shoulders in synagogue, we might think
that the tallit has Biblical roots. Understanding where the tallit, and the commandment to wear it,
come from, however, requires both closer analytical and physical examination. The actual
commandment is to wear tzitzit, or fringes, on the corners of our garments:
Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them throughout their generations
fringes in the corners of their garments, and that they put with the fringe of each corner a thread of
blue. (Numbers 15:38)
This passage, which also appears in the blessings of the Shema, commands the wearing of tzitzit as
a reminder to fulfill the mitzvoth and commandments in

Why Is Jk Rowling Wrong
I will start this review by letting you all know it may be colored by the fact that I m a HUGE
Potterhead...so make of that what you will!
Having read every Harry Potter novel and seen every Harry Potter film (and a whole lot of fan
fiction), I believed for years that J.K. Rowling could do no wrong. However, after the release of
the disappointing Cursed Child script earlier this year, I was nervous for Fantastic Beasts and
Where to Find Them. Although not written by Rowling, Cursed Child had her stamp of approval.
Was the Harry Potter universe about to suffer over dilution to the point of ruining everything? No.
Fantastic Beasts confirmed, for me, that J.K. Rowling is still a magical writer who can do no wrong.

Trophic Level Essay
To answer question 3, in the typical ecosystem there are usually 4 5 trophic levels, the higher the
level the less energy and less organisms. The first level is made up of autotrophs, made up of
plants and only organisms that create their own energy and nutrients via sunlight. The second level
is made up of 1st order heterotrophs, herbivores only as they feed off of the autotrophs only. The
next level is made of 2nd order heterotrophs, most commonly they are omnivores, feeding off of
both autotrophs and 1st order heterotrophs. The next are 3rd order heterotrophs, most commonly
carnivores choosing to prey upon 1st and 2nd order heterotrophs. These 3rd order heterotrophs
usually conclude the trophic levels in one particular ecosystem but they may have a 4th order
heterotroph either a carnivore or a decomposer. Moving onto the next part of question 3, energy
moves towards predators but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the relationship but that is not a relationship like mutualism or parasitism, it is most close to
predator prey relationships because it usually starts out with a certain amount of prey end as it

The Future Of Homelessness In Canada
This article (originally a speech) talks about how homelessness has been an issue in Canada in
the past but is also an issue Canada faces today and how the future of homelessness in its society
depends on the actions taken today. Specific information given in the article includes going back
as far as 1960 with specific examples of how the Canadian government has been dealing with the
issue through the ages. Giving direct quotes from government documents and speeches to statistics,
it is divided to into three main categories: past, present, and future (and further going into sub
categories from there). Relevant issues are discussed such as how some societal issues and global
affairs affect the wealth of Canada and how this can turn into poverty.... Show more content on

For example, the report gives statistics on how many more children live in low income families,
and how factors such as ethnicity, immigration status, disability can change the way poverty
affects the individual s life. This article is organized very well, in a sequential manner in which
one can easily find information relevant to their research by simply looking at the contents list
(and the subheadings listed under different chapters). The introduction is concise and formal,
however there is not a titled conclusion, rather the last section summarizes the points given. This
report does not have a definitive bias as the sections explain what is previously given through
statistics, thus there is is not an evident opinion (other than that poverty should be extinguished.
There are not suggestions for further reading in the report, however the website in which it was
found gave suggestions of other articles related to child poverty. The entire article has an
abundance information that would be helpful to the social issues project, specifically statistics on
how it affects the quality of life of children and ways to overcome the issue of poverty in
Toronto. This report would be very helpful for those who are researching about children living in
low income families, poverty, and solutions to poverty. There are some limitations within the
article for example data collection, especially because there is not official poverty line. More
information on data limitations are given in the appendix. The Hidden Epidemic will contribute to
my project by helping to narrow which subdivision of poverty to focus on and to further understand
how poverty transpires in Canada s most well known

  • 2. Free Will The Concept of Free Will Free will is the ability to make your choices in life without having any consequences. We may feel the existence of free will until we start thinking and then figure out there really is not. Thus, free will is nothing other than just an illusion. The moment a person is born, they are confined to a land of law, a set biological makeup, and environmental factors that are beyond their control. Hence, human beings do not have free will and ultimate responsibilities thus the punishment for their misdeeds are not justifiable. A human can very well do what he wants, but cannot will what he wants. Einstein. We, people, consider ourselves as a free being as we think we are capable of making our choices as per our need and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, we are not responsible for our misdeeds as we do not have free will. Let us take an example of a computer system. Computers do not have its user makes free will and all its choices. For instance, the computer you just bought spending lot of money is affected by a virus that duplicates your file and makes it accessible to other users within the network. Would you shut it down and put it in your basement for its misdeed holding it responsible or take it to the technician and get it fixed? Another thing to question would be, if one should be punished for misdeeds if they are mentally ill. People that are mentally ill do not have the capability of functioning in the society like most other people do. This is due to impairments of the brain that is way beyond anyone s control. In some court cases, this disability is highly considered. If the criminal does not have the free will to perform these misdeeds, how can they be held accountable for such wrong ... • 3. Analysis Of The Movie The Rye Catcher in the Rye was a phenomenal work of literature. The novel has been able to withstand the test of time without ever making it to the big screen. Present day with a movie of the bestselling novel is coming soon, every detail must amaze the avid reader of the book. This includes, lighting, a flawless director, a cluster of A list actors, outstanding scenery, and last but certainly not least, a soundtrack that will knock the viewer of the movie into a sense of amazement. A soundtrack can completely devastate a movie. If there is a scene where a character in the scene is crying because they lost their friend, it would definitely be strange if music in the background was Can t Touch This by M.C. Hammer. Soundtracks tell the audience what to feel whether it would be fear or excitement. With a soundtrack playing a critical position in a movie, the songs that have been chosen have transcended more than just the scenes they are played in, and turned into the embodiment of some of the major themes in the movie. A great selection for the opening song would be a song by Chance the Rapper called Finish Line . In this song, Chance the Rapper appears to just spout sentences that just come to head like the stream of consciousness like Holden. When Holden goes on his particular tangents he usually is trying to get to a specific point, a finish line. Coincidentally, Holden during the entire book has been trying to come to some finish line . With this song as the opening, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Time to Reduce Nuclear Dangers by Garwin and Gronlund According to the Arms Control Association, as of 2013 there was roughly 15,494 deployed and non deployed nuclear warheads between the five nuclear weapon states. The argument of whether or not nuclear weapons should be reduced in the United States is starting to arise. Nuclear weapons have the power to kill millions of people and lots of land. This is an issue that can t be ignored. Nuclear weapons should be reduced in the United States because it s a danger to the world and could ruin this Earth and eventually its people. The United States can have fewer nuclear weapons without putting our nations security in jeopardy. If we have just a little less nuclear power we could still have power over other countries but not too much power. However, some may argue that having a lot of nuclear weapons on and keeps the United States safe from harm. Robert Spalding said, The U.S. nuclear force exists to keep a threshold on the level of violence. While nuclear weapons are a useful source of defense, it s still overdone to the point where it s too much. The Pentagon, the headquarters of the United States defense, even thinks the nation should reduce its nuclear weapon number. Garwin and Gronlund said in their article, According to news reports, the Pentagon has concluded that the United States can meet its security needs with fewer deployed weapons perhaps 1,000. If our country isn t using our extra nuclear weapons, we could afford to get rid of only 1,000 of them. As of November, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why We Need An Urban County Government Why We Need an Urban County Government For too long this area has taken a back seat to the larger cities around us. We need to join the rest of the progressive regions in this state and establish a new, more efficient form of government. Pulaski County and the cities of Somerset, Science Hill, Ferguson, and Burnside need to merge together and create an urban county government. This will help to consolidate duplicate services, provide better representation for the citizens of Pulaski County, and strengthen the economy in this region. We live in a magnificent part of the state of Kentucky. We have picturesque landscapes, really pleasant residents, and a magnificent lake that supports a huge part of our economy through tourism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, it is possible for the citizens to vote to implement this type of government. Therefore, in April of 2013 the Somerset Pulaski County United group formed and began the process of having feasibility studies done to see if the formation of an urban county government would be an alternative that would serve our area well. According to the Commonwealth Journal, a newspaper in Somerset, Kentucky, A group of about 60 community leaders, clustered as Somerset Pulaski County United (SPCU), is embarking on a study to determine if a consolidated or united government in Pulaski County would be more efficient and more responsive to the county s 63,000 residents. (Mardis and Shmidheiser). This group, a cross section that well represents the residents of this county, believes that the formation an urban county government is a great opportunity for all our futures. Unfortunately, the SPCU has faced much antagonism in this initial phase of work. Many current government leaders are afraid of what changes might do to their positions of power. But these same leaders are also the ones who create problems and allow current ones to continue. Having a council of peers will give a voice everyone in the area, not just the few who reside in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Militarism In Ww1 War World War I (WWI). Words that bring back some horrid memories of an unpleasant time. The War of 1914 1919, fought with tanks, airplanes, trenches, machine guns and more. Fought in forms of Alliances such as the Triple Entente, including France, Russia, and Great Britain. Also the Triple Alliance, which includes, Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy. Fought in the countries of France, Italy, Russia and Turkey. The Great War, caused by many events such as imperialism and alliances, but militarism out of all was the underlying (main) cause to the start of one of the bloodiest wars. To begin, imperialism plays a key role in the start of, WWI. Imperialism is the practice to extend power, to control or rule by one country over areas outside... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Militarism was the belief or desire of a government or the people should maintain a strong military and ready to use it when needed and aggressively to defend or promote national interests. Building up your army can be a major set of to other countries, making them feel as if they are about to get attacked. Also other countries would want to have more power than the others so they would have a competition that could lead to war. For example, evidence shows in a chart by Richard Overy, in 1999, all the countries were building up their armies and navy and spending lots of money on them. This can cause war because if the other countries saw that another country has a good military they wouldn t want to be unprepared and they start building up their army and then all hell breaks loose. Another example written in, The Hammer or the Anvil , by Bernhard von Bulow; he writes, There is no welfare for us without power, without a strong army and a strong fleet. (Bulow 1). This shows to readers that they were readying themselves for some kind of war. This shows to readers that militarism is obviously the underlying cause for WWI, because without a military there would be no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Costing Method Is An Accounting Process A1. Costing Method Costing Method is an accounting process that assesses itemized input costs of production and fixed costs to determine overall costs of production. (Kucera, n.d.) Competition Bikes is performing this analysis so management can determine the optimum sales units to breakeven from its San Diego plant based on the current sales mix of 9 Titanium bicycles for every 5 CarbonLite bicycles produced. Traditional costing is an easily implemented costing method that aligns with generally accepted accounting principles, GAAP. Traditional costing is the distribution of manufacturing overhead costsacross the number of products produced based or another volume based metric. Traditional costing is very simplistic in the fact that it doesn t allocate out any nonmanufacturing costs. Traditional costing allocates costs to generic buckets such as direct material, direct labor and other overhead. Activity based costing (ABC) was developed as a costing method to overcome the weaknesses of traditional costing. ABC allocates costs to every activity, or manufacturing task, associated in the production of an item. ABC is more accurate than traditional costing. Competition Bikes grouped the following as tasks associated with the manufacturing of bicycles; Factory Setups, Quality Control, Engineering Service, Product Movements, Utilities, and Depreciation. (Johnson, n.d.) In Competition Bikes data analysis of traditional verses activity based costing, the differences in costs is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Pride In Julius Caesar Essay Such men as he be never at heart s ease Whiles they behold a greater than themselves, (Julius Caesar, Act 1, Scene 2, lines 208 09) When Caesar pronounces these words to Mark Antony, he is speaking about Cassius, saying that he be never at heart s ease, meaning that Cassius feels distressed about his life. Caesar implies that men like Cassius will never be entirely content while others behold a greater than themselves, suggesting that these men will never feel comfortable with themselves when there are other men in the world that are much more well off than they are, which includes holding a higher social ranking. These concepts Caesar contributes in his dialogue relate closely to the well known story of Cain and Abel, found in the Book of Genesis. In the famous Old Testament story, Cain, a crop farmer, and Abel, a shepherd, are brothers with an interesting twist to their story. The story begins as Cain and Abel are bringing offering to God, where Cain has gathered some fruit and Abel has brought the very best of his flock to offer to God. Because Abel had offered his very best to God, he had regard for his offering, but because Cain had not extended his best towards God, God had no regard for his fruit and was cast down, essentially lowering his rank. ... The NCAA however did not label the school as a repeat violator , although it qualifies, due to the severe penalties it will face. The program s two major violations committed in a span of five years clearly go against the governing body s mission, and core values it commits itself to which include: respect, pursuit of excellence in both academics and athletics and the highest levels of integrity and sportsmanship (NCAA, 2004). • 10. Essay about Arguing Evolution Arguing Evolution There is a blurry and indistinct line between giving the best possible scientific support for a theory in which one strongly believes that has only incomplete evidence, and writing a persuasive piece that will draw people to one side of an argument based on feelings as well as facts. Indeed, there may be no line at all, upon close inspection, but that would be an unpleasant thought to most scientists, who value their ability to write objective reports on subjects and end up with one best answer, because science possesses answers that are definitely and provably better than other answers. Unfortunately it is impossible to find all the facts needed to support some theories, and sometimes scientific theories get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Creationists, who are the main opponents of evolution, rarely hold unbiased debates over unvarnished facts; that kind of debate is a scientific convention, and has little relevance to religion. With the debate over evolution only half in the world of science unbiased debates cannot really be used, because they only apply to the methods of one side of the debate. So emotion laden, vague arguments are the norm. Mayr is not, however, on the Creationist side of the debate. So would it be possible for him to write a proper scientific report? He is, after all, writing about science. The problem with that idea is that if he is facing off against the Creationists he must find some common battle field on which they can meet to argue. If Creationists argue solely in terms of faith and scientists argue solely in terms of facts they will be unable to have a discussion, because the two arguments never meet. Faith has no more impact on facts than facts do on faith. So Creationists must make use of facts and scientists must address emotions so that they can even debate the topic. So arguments for one side or the other must absorb some of the traits of the opposition, but must this be an argument? What Is Evolution? seems to be presented as an explanation of evolution, which would conform to a definition of objective writing; the goal of objective writing is to inform and ... • 11. Ball Turret Gunner There are three elements employed by Randall Jarrell in his poem, The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, which illustrate the cycle of life and death of the gunner. The utilization of rhythm, use of imagery, and sequencing of events profoundly impact the development of the theme which conveys sending young people to fight a war is essentially ending life before it begins. Each element is evidenced in all five lines of the one stanzapoem. Understanding these elements allows readers to grasp the troublesome concept of death through warfare in just five short lines. The author of the poem The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner purposely writes it without a fixed structure of rhythm or rhyme. Composing strict metrical patterns or rhyme schemes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because of the sequencing of events in the five short lines. The way in which it was written mimics the life cycle of humans particularly the gunner s. The poem begins by referencing the complete safety of the gunner while protected inside of his mother s womb. Beginning with the mother s womb is significant because it provides the depiction of the womb for all five lines. As he falls out abruptly into the State of warfare, his is still hunched into a fetal position like that of a newborn animal. Because he is still hunched in this position, the poem implies that the gunner was not ready for the challenges that he was forced to face. This womb is not as friendly or comforting as his mothers, and it foreshadows the dangers to come. He awakens from his state of childlike innocence to imminent danger and the nightmare of death. He is promptly murdered which demonstrates how the gunner proceeded straight from the sleep of childhood to the sleep of death, which is likened to an abortion. The brevity of the poem mimics the brevity of the gunner s life, and the stages of the gunner s life are squeezed together in order to illustrate how quickly the gunner s life was taken from him. The poem jumps from birth to death with barely any mention of the eighteen or nineteen years in between. The poet views the young soldiers as unnecessary sacrifices who are born just to die. One of the movies weaknesses was that it left a lot of gaps. It is understandable why they had to leave a lot of gaps. The movie was supposed to depict the whole life of Gandhi. If they had of put every detail of Gandhi s life, every year of every sentence he spent in jail, the movie would be way longer than three plus hours. I just think that they could have better picked and chosen which parts to leave out because at times it left you confused, which leads me to my next weakness. Most movies now days are just about things that appeal to the majority of people who actually go watch, buy, or download movies: people under the age of 40. They stream ideas and philosophies common and relatable to these people. Gandhi is a movie that I feel was strictly objective. It presented the facts in a way that it was only the facts. Also, I think that the 1982 movie Gandhi was very interesting. The movie though very long, held my attention the majority of the time. At times it would get boring and even sleep worthy but then it would show a scene of a group of soldiers massacre a peaceful mob of people. Also, I think that the intermission that they added to the movie was unnecessary. The movie was long enough by itself the intermission only added an unneeded twenty minutes to the movie. I appreciate the consideration that the creators tried to extent toward the watchers but I also feel that any methods they could have used to shorten the 1982 movie Gandhi should have been used. A three plus hour long movie is a lot for any one person to sit through. Also, I think that the 1982 movie Gandhi had a great story line. To many, this is portrayed as the first known instance of suggesting space and time to be joined together as one thing. Albert Einstein s 1905 theory of special relativity is the very beginning of a theory related concept of spacetime, but the first mathematical theory of spacetime actually created by one of his own early teachers named Hermann Minkowski. He created the concept of Minkowski Spacewhich is the earliest recommendation to the treatment of space and time as two separate entities of one unified whole. The idea of Minkowski space has led up to special relativity being viewed more so in a geometrical way rather than a scientific and mathematical way. Minkowski space is described as the mathematical formation for which special relativity can be conveniently formulated. In this setting the three dimensions of space are combined with one dimensionof time to create a four dimensional whole expressed together as spacetime. It would be considered extremely important to consider the events that space and time can ultimately affect each other and how space and time are used in cosmological research. However, before touching base with the concept of space time, it seems appropriate to tie together the two basic types of dimensions and how they are ultimately applied to each other. It is hypothesized that it came into existence nearly 4.5 billion years ago, from residual debris after a planetary body collided with earth. Although, considered the runner up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its illumination is deceitful, insomuch as the moonis not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun s illumination from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. Lastly, the aforementioned illuminated portion begins to shrink or wane and thus the moon is considered to be in the waning gibbous phase, meaning that the illuminated portion is constricts in size or diameter every day. Astrological calendars have been in existence since ancient times where time was measured according to the number of Moons that had passed in a certain period, or in consonance with the shadows that were cast by either the Sun or Moon. Solar years are calculated based on the sun s motions, whereas lunar years are mutually based on the moons motions. A lunar year consists of approximately 354 days, whereas there are 365 days in solar year. By virtue of the eleven day disparity between a solar and lunar year, an additional month is added to the lunar calendar every three years, and as for the solar calendar, every fourth year, a leap day is added to the month of February. A lunar year is comprised of twelve lunar months, which corresponds to the time that elapses as the moon carries out each of its phases and proceeds to its position of origin. In contrast, a solar month is one twelfth of a solar year, given that a solar year is span of time that elapses as the Earth completes a single revolution around the sun. However, harm to women occurs when women take dosages of medications that are based around the size and build of men. Introduction: In my review of A Primer on Corporate Governance by Cornelis A. de Kluyver I intend to examine, evaluate, and break down his key points. The book provides a general view on how corporations govern themselves, and the internal and external forces that effect and constrain them. The biggest external force is of course the US Government and the variety of laws and regulations imposed upon corporations. Internally, they are managed by the CEO and board of directors along with a set group of committees and corporate guidelines. Its purpose is to help educate and guide its readers towards a better understanding of what forces govern business behavior and the most important roles of goals of the CEO and board of directors, and common issues that occur. I found it to be very informative, if a little dry, and it really helped broaden my views on what goes on behind the closed doors of major corporations. Background Information: The article is written to help readers gain a solid understanding the roles of corporate governance, both inside and outside the company. Its goal is simply to impart information, not make claims or arguments on its own. I will be judging it mainly on the sources gathered, numerous examples and explanations given and the overall effectiveness it possesses in effectively communicating its ideas. Although people know what a sexually transmitted infection is they may not know the proper way to prevent such infections or they may be unware of what their community offers to help prevent unwanted pregnancyand infections. I ventured to my local grocery store, Standale Meijer, to see what variety of options were available for men and women to prevent unwanted sexually transmitted infections. I was greeted by a plethora of options. Most of the products were geared towards men, such as condoms. There were about fifteen different types of condoms across seven different brands. Trojan was a more prominent brand that was offered at this location. There were about ten different Trojan condomtypes. Among them were ultra ribbed, fire and ice, bareskin, ultra thin and her pleasure ecstasy. Birth controloptions offered at this location was not a huge selection. Most people don t realize, but the art was taken from all Jews and many others by the Nazis. Some pieces of art have been found, but most still remain lost. Many that have been discovered are in museums and are not given to the true owners. There should be efforts spent on finding and recovering the art stolen by the Nazis to return it to their rightful owners. Hitler would have his soldiers take the art from the homes where the Jewslived when they took them away. Sometimes, if he wanted a specific work of art, he would have his people steal it or take it and kill the people who owned it. He would have his men steal all of the art and other artifacts from the homes of every person they took to the concentration camps, as well as those they simply killed in their homes. The United States has a written constitution as does a large majority of nation states. The British do not have a distinct article called the constitution but in its place its constitutional necessities are scattered over numerous Acts of Parliament. The United States Constitutionis difficult to adjust and in present political conditions, maybe impracticable to change in any significant respect. Examining the difference between Southie and Chestnut Hill you can tell which class is poor and which class is rich. Through Good People , David Lindsay Abaire argues that rich people and poor people has a different life styles. This can be seen through his use of imagery, characterization and conflict. In this play, David Lindsay Abaire uses imagery to shows what type of life style that Southie and Chestnut Hill has. Firstly, Southie has many poor people and broken things around them. For example, Abaire shows how Southie s environment looks by the narration of the play, The alley behind the Dollar store. There s a dumpster back there and a rusty chair and a door labelled Dollar store (5). Another way, Chestnut Hill has many rich people and many expensive things. For example, Abaire narrates about Mikes house in details, Lights up on a beautiful home. The living room takes up most of the space. Up and left we may see part of a foyer that leads to the front door. Doorways and corridors lead off to other parts of the house the kitchen, the dining room, maybe we see a staircase that leads up to the bedroom (105). The author went into details to show how rich Mike is. Again, Abaire is showing us that anyone from Southie will try their luck to get more money. A constructive discharge happens when an employee is legally justified in claiming that he/she was forced to resign because the employer has made working conditions intolerable. In our situation a complaint was never filed with the company letting us know the employee was unhappy or giving us the opportunity to respond to the situation. We would need to review and make sure that all the appropriate measures are being taken in a timely manner if someone complains about their working environment. Specific steps and procedures need to be followed to protect our company and our employees. In Pennsylvania State Police v. But the court also found that the plaintiff failed to avail herself of the internal reporting procedures as she resigned two days after mentioning harassment to an official. The case supports our position of not guilty because the employee who is filing charges against us did not follow the company s internal reporting procedures. This would have allowed us to meet with the employee to see if we could come to an agreeable solution. Internal reporting procedures are there to protect everyone involved. My final recommendation would be to make a statement to the employee filing charges against us to inform them know that we are aware of the Code of Federal Regulations (Guidelines on discrimination because of religion, 2009) and that we are willing to work with the individual to find a solution. When we walk into the sanctuary of any synagogue, the first sights we most likely see are the aron hakodesh, the eternal lamp, and every man in the congregation wearing a tallit, the ritual prayer shawl worn during weekday and Shabbat morning services. Now, we might also see women wearing the tallit, too. In more recent years, women in synagogue have begun to wear the tallitas a movement towards egalitarianism, taking religious practice into their own hands and projecting a personal style to boot. In this paper, we will explore the critical concerns surrounding the tallit s male dominated origins, the move by women to wear the tallit on practical and symbolic levels, and the tallit as a method of personal expression. The Origins of the Tallit Based on the sea of tallitot we observe on men and women s shoulders in synagogue, we might think that the tallit has Biblical roots. Understanding where the tallit, and the commandment to wear it, come from, however, requires both closer analytical and physical examination. The actual commandment is to wear tzitzit, or fringes, on the corners of our garments: Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them throughout their generations fringes in the corners of their garments, and that they put with the fringe of each corner a thread of blue.
