Investigating The Pricing Of Audit
Researches about audit pricing started in the 1980s with the publishing of Simunic (1980) s The
pricing of audit services: Theory and evidence. He set out the multiple regression model of audit
pricing and run the regression analysis using data from 397 listed companies in USA. Simunic took
the position that audit fees are determined by the loss exposure of the client comlany, the
apportionment rate of loss between the audit firm and the client company, and the production function
and characteristics of the audit firm . The results of his study demonstrate that the scale of an auditee
is the most significant factor determining its audit fees, despite other factors, such as the ratio of
receivables to total assets of the client company and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the researches mentioned above focus on developed economies, where audit markets have
similar characteristics: audit markets are mature and oligopolistic; audit markets operate under stable
policy and regulation. However, things might be different in China, a developing economy, due to the
imperfect regulation and a highly competitive audit market, where top ten audit firms are only in
charge of 30% listed companies during 2005 2007, while big 8 audit firms dominated the audit market
in developed economies in the same period (Li et al., 2005; Wang et al., 2008).
Most empirical studies of audit fees have come out due to government s requirement of Chinese listed
companies to disclose audit fees in their financial reports, since 2001. Some works investigate the
determinants of audit fees directly. Wang (2002) became the first researcher to study audit pricing
determinants of Chinese listed companies. He concludes that the scale of client firm and auditor, the
complexity of client firm, audit opinion, audit risk, and the industry of client firms are of statistically
significance in determining audit fees. Liu et al. (2003) s research further concludes that the location
of client firm is significantly related to audit fees. Wu (2003) s contribution is that there is a positive
relationship between the changing of audit opinions (basically from unqualified opinion to qualified

The Civil Rights Movement And The American Civil Movement
The Civil Rights Movement, also known as the American Civil Rights Movement and other names, is
a term that encompasses the strategies, groups, and social movements in the United States whose goals
were to end racial segregation and discrimination against African Americans and to secure legal
recognition and federal protection of the citizenship rights enumerated in the Constitution and federal
law. The movement was characterized by major campaigns of civil resistance. Between 1955 and
1968, acts of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience produced crisis situations and productive
dialogues between activists and government authorities. The movement was led by social activists like

The Civil Rights Act of 1964, which ended segregation in public places and banned employment
discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin, is considered one of the
crowning legislative achievements of the civil rights movement. First it was proposed by President
John F. Kennedy, it survived strong opposition from southern members of Congress and was then
signed into law by Kennedy s successor, Lyndon B. Johnson. In the following years, Congress
expanded the act and also passed additional legislation aimed at bringing equality to African
Americans, such as the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Martin Luther king jr is was Baptist minister and
social activist who led the civil rights movement in the United States from the mid 1950s until his
death by assassination in 1968. He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. King, a Baptist
minister and civil rights activist, had a seismic on race relations in the United States beginning in the
mid 1950s. Born as Michael King Jr. on January 15, 1929, Martin Luther king jr was the middle child

In the summer of 1951, Mr Cecil Birtcher, one of the AIUMS founders; gathered 24 physicians
attending the American Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Denver, Colorado, who
found a common interest in the validity of ultrasonic energy as a medical tool. Birtcher encouraged
this group of ultrasound pioneers and provided them with ultrasonic instruments with which to
conduct research and carry out experiments. In the summer of 1952 in New York Dr Disraeli Kobak
AIUMs first president and Mr Birtcher managed the first annual meeting. This group of pioneers

Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (...
1. Introduction
Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating
system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by
Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor
(VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and
applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input/output (I/O), and network
traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include server virtualization,
application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1,
pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the rapid growth of this
technology.
The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in
order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of
technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or
network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If the
VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as
well.
The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and hypervisors
managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will

Propaganda In Advertising
In advertisement, propaganda is all around. It is in newspaper articles, television ads, movies, and a
plethora of other things. Propaganda is a type of advertisement that shows how good or how much
better a product is that anything else in that department. Advertisers lean heavily on propaganda to sell
products, whether the products are a brand of toothpaste, a candidate for office, or a particular political
viewpoint. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232). There are seven main types of
propaganda, Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking,
and Bandwagon. Since its first use, most people when they hear propaganda, think only about political
ads but that is not all that propaganda is used for. Although propaganda may seem relevant only in the
political arena, the concept can be applied fruitfully to the way products and ideas are sold in
advertising. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232) Two very good examples of using
propaganda techniques are a State Farm commercial, and a Farmers advertisement. The State Farm ad
is a beautifully done, two minute long commercial that is meant to pull on the heart string of the
watcher with a technique such as Plain Folks. The farmers advertisement on the other hand is a think
out of the box comical commercial that does not cause emotions to stir but instead makes up it up with
a Testimonial. Both ads are very appealing to the eyes and don t use attacks on another

Circulatory Shock
Circulatory shock is a syndrome of widespread cellular hypoxia, triggered by a systemic alteration of
perfusion and delivery and/or utilization of tissue oxygen, eventually causing end organ dysfunction
and death [53]. It can be subdivided into 4 distinct categories according to its primary
pathophysiological mechanism, namely cardiogenic, hypovolemic, obstructive and distributive [54].
In the first 3 types, perfusion has changed as a consequence of the cardiac output decrease, whereas
distributive types of shock are related to a primary dysfunction of the resistive component of the
cardiovascular system. In vasoplegia, vascular tone is reduced and there is a noticeably depressed
constrictive response of arterioles to vasoconstrictors, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Various contributing mechanisms have been identified, including the negative inotropic effects of
different circulating factors, especially cytokines (TNFα, IL 1β and IL 6), lysozyme c and endothelin
1, disturbances of intracellular calcium trafficking within cardiac myocytes, alterations of myocardial
microvascular blood flow, mitochondrial abnormalities and autonomic dysfunction [71 73]. There are
various effects which may be responsible for the toxic actions of peroxynitrite on the heart, including
myocardial cell death, either by caspase 3 dependent apoptosis [74], or PARP mediated necrosis [75].
A direct correlation linking the degree of myocardial PARP activation and the severity of cardiac
functional alterations has been established in humans with septic shock [76]. Myocardial contractility
can also be impaired by peroxynitrite due to disturbance in regulatory mechanism of intracellular
calcium through the inactivation of SERCA2A [77], by altering different myofibrillar proteins
including actin, myosin [78] and alpha actinin [79], by interrupting myofibrillar energetics through
inactivation of the myofibrillar isoform of creatine kinase [80] and by activating matrix
metalloproteinases [81], which promotes contractile failure by cleaving key sarcomeric proteins
including troponin and myosin light chain

Wes Anderson Themes And Techniques
Wes Anderson has been recognised as one of the most successful directors in the cinematic world with
a distinct authorship towards his work. The auteurs approach of analysing films include the more
important elements that makes up a film such as: editing, cinematography, lighten, casting, themes,
story line, art direction and aesthetic style (Rosenberg, 2010). Anderson s films all possess distinct
techniques that he was heavily involved in producing. The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) featured many
of his signature techniques such as using the recurring themes, filming styles, type of music and
backdrop to give audiences a better understanding of the film and imprinting a certain tone throughout
the film.

It can be noticed that Anderson s cinematic choices has enabled the underlying reality of his storyline
to be masked, providing the characters an avenue to explore his infamous recurring theme choices
such as the loss of innocence, grief, dysfunctional families and the harsh but simple realities of
entering adulthood (MacDowell, 2012). For example, Anderson masked the Tenenbaum s true
dysfunctional situation with his cinematic choices; mainly, the synergy of the stillness of the camera
and acting of the characters, to portray an incongruous image of the film. One example where this was
evident in would be the scene in which Margot s series of shocking experiences were shown from
smoking at the age of 12 to being secretly being married. Anderson portrayed these series of events in
Margot s life more lightly than it should have been through Margot s monotonous expressions while
carrying out these experiences as well as her ex husband, Raleigh St Clair s neutral expressions when
he found out about the extent of how secretive Margot was. One would expect a bigger reaction from
Raleigh, however, the way the severity of Margot s experiences were being covered contributed to
portraying an incongruous image of the film as it ignored the reality of the way he must have felt
while finding out about this hidden side of Margot. Instead, Anderson focused on highlighting on

Compare And Contrast Ranch Girl And Ranch Girls
Both Raymond Carver s Signals and Malie Meloy s Ranch Girl display intense and emotional
instances driven from a relationship. Signals exemplifies the tense relationship between old lovers
with problems communicating. Ranch Girl demonstrates an underlying relationship between young
people, where communication is also lacking. The two stories are mysterious, explaining contained
poignant instances while leaving the reader feeling a bit confused by what will happen after the end.
However, the stories differ in terms of depth and difference in relationship, as well as a dissimilarity in
point of view. Ranch Girl, is told from a second person point of view, explaining different instances

For Caroline and Wayne in Signals it was a long term lack of communication that seemed to cause
animosity between them. Wayne seemed very confused as to where he stood in a relationship with
Caroline. It felt as though Caroline did not want to try to communicate anymore, and Wayne had not
for a long time, and wanted to make it work before the relationship was lost. This contributed to their
marriage s demise. For Ranch Girl, there was a clear lack of communication between her and Andy.
For years, the only conversations really happening between them was over Andy s come home and
fuck me (p. 48). Ranch Girl did not talk with him much, yet planned her entire life around marrying
Andy. The heavy emotion held behind each story feels like it is held together by this lack of
communication between people who liked each other. In contrast, these relationships differed in the
actual time spent together and the depth behind that. In Ranch Girl there was a clear lack of actual
time spent developing any boundaries of a relationship. The two characters were young, and had liked
each other from afar, sharing only a single dance. You dance with him at the all night graduation part,
and he watches you around the waist and says he doesn t know a more beautiful girl (p. 51). The
relationship between Caroline and Wayne in Signals seems to be much more long term and deep
rooted. This comes through in the kind of tense conversation they had at this table. Caroline threw

The Cause Of Maternal Death Worldwide
Abstract Maternal sepsis is preventable, yet remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide,
according to a study published in 2013 (Acosta Knight, 2013). Early recognition of symptoms and
implementation of correct treatment is key to prevent mortality. A break in nursing education can
prevent prompt treatment to patients. Given that pregnant women are more vulnerable to infection and
susceptible to serious complications, makes a clear understanding of maternal sepsis imperative
(Joseph, Sinha, Paech, Walters, 2009). The purpose of this project was to determine if there is a need
on Memorial Hospital s LDRP unit for more education related to maternal sepsis. Memorial Hospital,
located in York, Pennsylvania is a small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though sepsis is a major contributor to maternal mortality, septic shock in pregnancy fortunately
is relatively rare, affecting only 0.002% to 0.010% of all births (Dutra Olvera, 2016). Regardless of
how low the statistics, maternal mortality happens and the preparedness of units will influence a
positive outcome. A needs assessment identifies the discrepancy between the present knowledge and
the desired knowledge to develop protocols and education which will bridge the gap between the what
is and what should be . The needs assessment developed for the 23 staff members on the small LDRP
unit of Memorial Hospital focused on what the end knowledge base should be. Questions were
formulated after an extensive literature review, focusing on early recognition, definitions and specifics
for care. This needs assessment will help implement protocols that will improve the care provided, as
well as the comfort of the staff members face to face with perinatal mothers.
Review of Literature Critical management of maternal sepsis is key in preventing mortality and
identifying a patient at risk can help with initiation of management. There are many risk factors of
sepsis during pregnancy. Hashmi and Khan (2014) identified that pregnant women are highly
susceptible to infection due to the maternal immune response being decreased. Some of the risk
factors named included cesarean

Nazi Gold Essay
Nazi Gold
The twentieth century has been credited with introducing the world to total war. World War II was one
of the most devastating wars that affected almost all the major nations in the world. A vital part of
financing the war machines of each country was the ability to pay for it all. Under the circumstances,
gold and silver were quite useful to the nation that obtained large amounts of either, and the means to
convert it all into monetary credits. Between 1938 and 1945, Nazi Germany met the aforementioned
requirements easily, as Hitler looted the central and commercial banks of occupied Europe. Nazi gold
is still being heavily debated among the world powers, for to this date, not all of it has been recovered

These other nations, either neutral or independent, were in constant fear of a Nazi invasion, so they
reluctantly complied with Germany on the storage of the looted gold (Smith 1). At first, Austria had
not been considered a looted nation, as most European governments were under the opinion that the
two nations were on the verge of merging (Smith 2). This was clearly shown when, in a 1940
American court case involving Austrian assets, it was mentioned that, This change [the annexation]
has occurred in a manner acceptable to our notions of international law; the Anschluß has in no way
been disavowed #8230;. (Smith 2) As no nation interfered with Germany s takeover of Austria, the
Nazi party was able to annex the Anschluß, or Austria s Central Bank, by March 17, 1938 (Smith 2).
By 1939, Hitler had already taken over much of Czechoslovakia, as a result of the Munich
Agreements, signed in September of 1938 (Smith 4). Slowly, Czechoslovakia s assets were pulled in
by the Reichsbank, much of which was located in the Bohemian Discount bank and the Bohemian
Union Bank. Soon, after Bohemia became a German protectorate, the Nazi party was able to delve
into the large gold reserves of the Czechoslovakian National Bank, which was located in Prague
(Smith 5). Both Luxembourg and Belgium s assets were indirectly liquidated by the Nazis when

Comparative Rhetorical Analysis Of Andy Stern
Comparative Rhetorical Analysis
Everyone views things a little differently, therefore different writers have different perspectives about
different subject matter. For example, while Andy Stern s stance is that technology will one day take
over the jobs of the working class Dean Baker thinks it has nothing to do with the rise in technology at
all and more to do with generating demand through government deficits. The way Stern successfully
incorporates ethos, pathos, and logos in his piece of writing is more appropriate and effective in
accomplishing rhetorical purpose than Baker s writing.
Ethos is basically the authors credibility, the reader must decide if the author of the writing is

A Summary Of The Gunpowder Plot
Remember, remember, the fifth of November; we all know the rhyme but how well do we really know
the story? In the essay I will explore how the plotters were punished and why they were punished so
severely. Before you can explore the punishments, you first have to know the story. The Gunpowder
Plot started on May 20th 1604; however, the reasons behind the plot started many years prior to that.
In fact, the entire reason behind the plot dated back to Henry VIII, when religious turmoil broke out.
You could say, all hell broke loose. It all started when Henry made his break from Rome to allow him
to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon. This made England a Protestant country which many didn t
like, or rather, hated. This turmoil continued for many years, as the next king, Edward, kept
Protestantism whilst Mary, the following monarch, (also known as Bloody Mary) changed the national
religion back to Catholicism and took her religion to further extremes by burning Protestants. Upon
Mary s death Elizabeth I took the reigns and, yet again, switched the religion. She also persecuted
those who didn t follow the same religion as her, as she made it illegal to be a Catholic and illegal to
go to a non Protestant Church. James VI of Scotland came to the throne next and he, despite thoughts
that he might have been kinder to Catholics, kept the aforementioned Recuncansy Laws. The country
was a mess. This is where the plot we know so well comes in. A man named Robert Catesby was fed

History of the Court:
By the end of the first world war, the international community founded the League of Nations, the first
international security organization with the primary goal of maintaining world peace. The first world
war saw drastic increases in mankind s capacity to kill other human beings and cause insurmountable
harm to human society and culture. The human condition was drastically different. With a new world
war on the horizon, the international community had decided to band together to form a way in which
it could help exercise the correct legal disposition and formality to positively influence the world. An
international body was crucial after the first world war in order to maintain peace and order as the
world picked up the pieces from their injustices. This was also true after the Second world war where
the world saw, again, how the cruelties of humanity had to be prevented in order for the international
body to prevent the forming of higher casualty rates and human suffering. With in Article 14 of the
Covenant of the League of Nations, an international court, the Permanent Court of International

Karl Marx s Views on Religion
Karl Marx has greatly influenced the creation of the modern world and was one of the first
revolutionary communist. Through his literary works and philosophies he helped to inspire many 20th
century communist regimes including the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and North Korea. Marx s ideas
did not end at communism; his religious ideology also helped shape and mold the 20th century world.
Karl Marx was born in 1818 in Trier, Germany and died in 1883. He was a philosopher who turned to
economics and politics in his mid 20 s. His family was Jewish but they converted to Christianity so
that Marx s father might pursue his career as a lawyer. Marx studied law in Berlin and then wrote a

In the preface to his doctoral dissertation, Marx adopted as his motto the words of the Greek hero
Prometheus who defied the gods to bring fire to humanity: I hate all gods, with addition that they do
not recognize man s self consciousness as the highest divinity (Marx).
Third, religion is hypocritical. Although it might profess valuable principles, it sides with the
oppressors. Jesus advocated helping the poor, but the Christian church merged with the oppressive
Roman state, taking part in the enslavement of people for centuries. In the Middle Ages the Catholic
Church preached about heaven, but acquired as much property and power as possible.
Martin Luther preached the ability of each individual to interpret the Bible, but sided with aristocratic
rulers and against peasants who fought against economic and social oppression. According to Marx,
this new form of Christianity, Protestantism, was a production of new economic forces as early
capitalism developed. New economic realities required a new religious superstructure by which it
could be justified and defended. In addition to critiquing religion, Karl Marx wrote about the basic
ideologies and principles on socialism and communism. In The Communist Manifesto, Marx
discusses the problems facing society and how the government is responsible for this. According to
Marx, the East Indian and Chinese markets, the colonization of America, and trade with the

Prince Sports has managed to remain in their field, but the task was not easy. They have been in
business for over forty years and have continued to evolve to fit the needs of the consumers while also
managing to expand their products. In doing so, they have needed to keep their company ahead of
trends that have occurred in the market. So far, they have managed to do so, but with the continuously

stay ahead. They also have to take in to consideration how these changes are going to affect the
products and customers they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same can be said for trends and products. They have witnessed what a mistake it is to ignore their
past progress and simply focus on what is next. While it is important to spend a great deal of time
working towards advancement, especially in a market that is rising. However, it is very difficult to
ignore what brought about all of these changes and what has been working (Kerin, Hartley amp;
Rudelius, 2013).
Another challenge that they may face includes economic changes. Since, Prince Sports markets their
product internationally, they need to pay attention to the economies of all the countries they distribute
to. Significant changes in an economy can greatly change their customer base and needs resulting in
new marketing tactics having to be put in place (Benoit amp; Gleason, 2012).
Prince Sports can stay ahead of the changes they possibly face if they keep in mind when Linda
Glassel said It s learning, it s studying, it s talking to people who understand where the market is going
(Pg. 241). In order to stay ahead and take on any challenges that come their way, they need to employ
research methods that can help them solve their problems and come up with new ideas for marketing

Daniel Deronda Essay
Daniel Deronda
Daniel Deronda, the final novel published by George Eliot, was also her most controversial. Most of
Eliot s prior novels dealt largely with provincial English life but in her final novel Eliot introduced a
storyline for which she was both praised and disparaged. The novel deals not only with the coming of
age of Gwendolyn Harleth, a young English woman, but also with Daniel Deronda s discovery of his
Jewish identity. Through characters like Mirah and Mordecai Cohen, Eliot depicts Jewish cultural
identity in the Victorian period. Reaction to Daniel Deronda exposes the deeply embedded anti
semitism of the period. The story follows the tow main characters over the course of several years as
they struggle with their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was during this time that she began to suffer from the kidney problems that eventually killed her.
She was also plagued by chronic head and tooth aches during this time (Karl, 545). Despite her
physical ailments Eliot meticulously researched the book. She took Hebrew lessons with Emanuel
Deutsch and the character of Mordecai Cohen is said to be based on him. She also read extensively
about Jewish culture and tradition. In a letter Eliot s would be spouse, George Henry Lewes, writes
that of the two buying Judaic books and visiting a synagogue in Frankfurt in the summer of 1873
(Karl, 527).
Daniel Deronda was originally published in a series of monthly installments that appeared in
Blackwood s Magazine between February and September of 1876. Terence Cave notes in his
introduction to the Penguin edition of Daniel Deronda, that the decision to begin in February was
based on the inability to get it to the American market in December and Blackwood s belief that
January wasn t a fit month to publish anything(qtd. in Cave xxii). Eliot was able to stay comfortably
ahead of release dates while writing Deronda seemingly conquering the pressures of serial publication
that she so hated.
The text was then published in 4 bound volumes printed in 1876. In October of 1877 a second printing
of the novel contained minor alterations to the

I like this ad. I can see myself being in the model s shoes with ease. I find the tone of the headline (i.e.

sometimes feel intimidated and alienated by the hardcore athletes ridden in Nike ads as a dancer. I don
t fall into the typical sports categories Nike targets so their models and athletes don t appeal to me. I
am serious about dance, however, so I find that Brooks messaging and quality is a suitable middle
ground for me. This leads to my discussion of the target audience, in which I believe I fall under as
well. This ad appeals to the active, young female who would look at this ad and empathize with a

Introduction
SAA (Serum Amyloid A) function is similar to a C reactive protein (an annular pentameric protein that
is mostly found in blood plasma and its levels rise in response to inflammation. It considered as an
acute phase protein of hepatic origin, which increases following interleukin 6 secretion by
macrophages and T cells) but acts as an acute phase protein, which can be used as an indicative,
predictive or as a therapy follow up marker for many diseases such as Atherosclerosis, Rheumatoid
arthritis, Crohn s disease, and diabetes. As the level of the serum increases, the SAA is triggered by
physical insults to the host which includes infection, trauma, inflammatory reactions, and cancer (R.
Kisilevsky a, 1991). A broad response range is reflected by an SAA gene duplication, which results
into a cluster encoding of several SAA variants and by multiple biological functions of SAA. SAA
prompted chemokines in degrading enzymes through a Toll like receptors and it functions as an
activator and chemoattractant through a G protein coupled receptor. A persistent stimulus in an
infectious or inflammatory area, this will cause the liver to produce more SAA, which will become an
antimicrobial agent by functioning as a direct opsonin of bacteria (Urieli Shoval, Linke, Matzner,
2000). The regulation of innate and adaptive immunity through the helps of SAA benefit the invention

The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory
Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an
economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different
relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory,
the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world
communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with.
There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make
up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that
contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values.
Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by
using the following equation:
Worth = Rewards Costs
When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to
be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative.
The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes
that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the
idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self
interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that

Ed Boone Character Analysis
The parents, Judy and Ed Boone, of Christopher surely have their differences. Though in some ways
they do appear to be similar. The two have displayed selfish characters. We ve discovered in the book,
miss Judy Boone has abs an affair with her neighbors husband and starts a life with him. You can find
out on page 60, when Christopher and Mrs. Alexander talk about Christopher s mother. Christopher
asked, Do you mean that they were doing sex? . This provides evidence Ms. Boone had been selfish
enough to have an affair with a married man. Ms. Boone had no regards for the people she might hurt.
As for Mr. Boone we discover he s been hiding Ms. Boone s letters to Christopher from Christopher.
You can read about this on page 114 of the book. Mr. Boone comes home from work to find

incident where Christopher broke her foot. As she stated, And you started to shout and I got cross and
I threw the food across the room . Ms. Boone displayed her bad temper towards her own son. Instead
of punishing him, she lost her head and reacted almost child like. Mr. Boone on the other hand has
more control over his temper, Ms. Boon stated that her son was, much more calmer with him . They
would argue over Ms. Boone s temper, given the reason for Mr. Boone to say, if he could keep his

Edward De Veere s Influence On Shakespeare
Nearly ten percent of the most quoted lines in the English language are accredited to William
Shakespeare. But should this be the case? Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author of
his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy. De Vere
was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in Shakespeare s plays
and had a similar writing structure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that William from Stratfor
did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did.
De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to Shakespeare.
According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer . Since a multitude
of Shakespeare s plays deal with legal matters, the author must have been familiar with the law
system, which de Vere was. According to Britannica, de Vere studied with Arthur Golding (who
translated Metamorphoses by Ovid, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Britannica, [de Vere s] poems apparently ceased just before Shakespeare s work began to
appear (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica). De Vere started writing through poetry, but soon
after his career halted, Shakespeare s writing started to be seen. It is believed that de Vere stopped
writing under his own name in order to protect his family from the social stigma that was associated
with the theater. Therefore, de Vere began writing under another name, Shakespeare. This theory is
also proven by the fact that de Vere s work was similar to Shakespeare s. As stated in Absolute
Shakespeare, they both used six line pentameter stanzas ( De Vere Authorship Argument ). This is is
significant because this type of poetry was not used very commonly among poets of Shakespeare s
time. The similarities between de Vere and Shakespeare s poems shows the potential authorship de
Vere could have

Newton s Laws of Motion
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same
speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force (Newton s First Law).
To determine if a person should run or walk, you will have to understand the Second Law of
Motion. The second law states that force equals mass times acceleration. In order for a person
of a certain mass to accelerate, that person must use some force, so the force must overcome
gravity, friction, and be larger than the mass of the person trying to move (Newton s Second Law
of Motion). If you want to walk or run you will need a bigger force (¶ 4). To walk is not as hard
as running, so less force is needed to succeed in doing it (Forester). This leads us to the third law
of motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (Newton s Third Law).
Another concept of Physics is moving water. For example, flushing the toilet, waterfalls
and dams. Flushing a toilet is a great example of transferring energy. Usually on most toilets
there is tan on the back of it filled with water. Water that is stored is a great example of potential
energy and no kinetic energy. Once toilet is flushed, it gives the water momentum. From
waterfalls and dams we can produce hydropower. It is a renewable energy source that converts
kinetic energy from falling water into electricity. From the water momentum pushes against the
turbine s blades to switch

The Union Into Civil War
Slavery, in itself, was the most predominant reason for the breakup of the Union. It fundamentally
divided the Free northern states and the Slave southern states, causing immediate tension. However, it
was the various conflicts resultant of the central issue of slavery that truly plunged the Union into
Civil War. The foremost of these tensions dealt with new territories, particularly those gained in the
Mexican cession. The Mexican War was the direct result of Manifest Destiny, or the belief that the
United States was ordained by God to control North America from coast to coast, which was
introduced by the article used in Document 1. This article by John L. O Sullivan was written to

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, in Document C, that the United States will conquer Mexico, but it will be
as the man swallows the arsenic. This statement points out a key similarity between this war and the
Civil War both were tainted by slavery. The Mexican War would result in new slave states, making
abolitionists angry, resulting in the conflicts that started the Civil War. Document D, written by David
Wilmot of the Wilmot Proviso, reveals the tensions created by the Mexican cession, saying, I ask not
that slavery be abolished, I demand that this government preserve the integrity of free territory against
the aggressions of slavery against its wrongful usurpations. Up until that point, there were an equal
number of slave and free states. How would the balance be maintained? Wilmot suggested that slavery
remain only in the current slave states and not spread to any new territories. However, his plan was
rejected, showing that neither side would compromise, but, instead, that the Union would break apart.
Therefore, the Compromise of 1850 was passed as a way to appease the north and the south.
Document E shows the distinct separation of slave and free states resultant of this compromise. This
reveals a major breakup of the Union over slavery. Document F points out the Kansas Nebraska Act of
1854, created by Stephen Douglas, which divided the newly gained Nebraska Territory into two

Analysis Of Breaker Morant
Within the film Breaker Morant, three Australian Army officers, serving in the Bushveldt Carbineers
during the Second Boer War, are put on trial, for murder, in a court martial (Breaker Morant). The
three men, Harry Morant, Peter Handcock, and George Witton are all accused of the murder of Boer
prisoners of war. In addition, Morant and Handcock are accused of murdering a German missionary,
Reverend Hesse (Breaker Morant). Their defense, Major Thomas, only had one day to prepare their
trial. Lord Kitchener, who ordered the trial, did so in order to show that he is willing to judge his own
soldiers harshly if they disobey the rules of war. Ultimately, he does this in the hopes that it will bring
the Boer War to an end with a peace conference (Breaker Morant). Kitchener is ... Show more content

Colonel Denny, supports this. However, there are immense complexities when it comes to charging
active duty soldiers with murder during battle. In the end, the defendants are found guilty of executing
the prisoners and are sentenced to death, but Witton s sentence was reduced to life in penal servitude
(Breaker Morant). This case often raises a debate about whether or not the men should have been
charged with murder during war time, when orders were not clearly defined. Based on Kant s
Categorical Imperative ethical model, if I was acting as the fifth judge in this case, I would find the
men guilty. This is because a person who utilizes the Kantian view believes that the only pure good is
pure human reason without consequences. This pure human reason works without the influence of
human emotions and desires. A truly good act, as defined by Kant, is performed because of an
obligation to the categorical imperative. Therefore, the objectives and personal agendas of the
individual performing the act must be kept separate. For this reason alone, Morant could have been
found guilty. He could have ignored the verbal orders to kill prisoners, or

Philosophy and Christian Theology
Many of the doctrines and concepts central to Christianity have important philosophical implications
or presuppositions. In this article we will take a closer look at some of the central doctrines and
concepts, and their philosophical relevance.
Of course, many philosophically laden doctrines and concepts are relevant to Christianity, and we
cannot discuss them all here. Rather, our focus will be on those concepts and doctrines that are
distinctively Christian, and which have been the focus of a good deal of recent discussion in the
philosophical literature. Thus, although theism is a central Christian concept, it is not distinctively
Christian and so will not be covered here. Further, although views about the Eucharist, a central ...

First, philosophical reasoning might persuade some who do not accept the authority of purported
divine revelation of the claims contained in religious texts. Thus, an atheist who is unwilling to accept
the authority of religious texts might come to believe that God exists on the basis of purely
philosophical arguments. Second, distinctively philosophical techniques might be brought to bear in
helping the theologian clear up imprecise or ambiguous theological claims. Thus, theology might
provide us with information sufficient to conclude that Jesus Christ was a single person with two
natures, one human and one divine, but leave us in the dark about exactly how this relationship
between divine and human natures is to be understood. The philosopher can provide some assistance
here, since, among other things, he or she can help the theologian discern which models are, for
example, logically inconsistent and thus not even candidates for understanding the relationship of
divine and human natures in Christ.
For most of the twentieth century, the vast majority of English language philosophy went on without
much interaction with theology at all. While there are a number of complex reasons for this divorce,
three are especially important. The first is that atheism was the predominant opinion among English
language philosophers throughout much of that century.
A second, quite related reason is that, philosophers in the twentieth century

Sociological Issues On Social Issues
When thinking about sociological issues taking place in our society today, issues concerning our
environment commonly are not ones we put on the top of the list, however they should be. It is not
that any of the other social issues do not matter, but without a world to live on, or an environment to
live off of those other issues would not even be taking place. Our environment has been something
that we neglect and carelessly use for our own personal economic growth because it is what has been
done for many years. We are destroying our world s land and using up its natural resources and are
even wasting them without concern about what consequences are resulting from doing so. There are
ways that we could fix and eliminate problems that we have caused to our environment, but in order to
do so we will have come together and put in the effort to make the change and become more
environmentally conscious in the aspects of our everyday lifestyles.
Much of our world s land is destroyed to provide for our growing population through the occurrence
of deforestation which causes loss of biodiversity and soil depletion. There are natural causes of
deforestation such as wildfires, but most of it occurs through urban development and most notably
agricultural development. We destroy acres of forests in order to have more land for cattle and other
farm animals to graze upon, but also to have land to produce grain that won t be fed to us, but to the

Whenever I thought of the essential bleakness of black life in America, I knew that Negroes had never

these human qualities were not fostered, won, struggled and suffered for, preserved in ritual from one

majority of his own writings. Richard traveled around the country picking up odd jobs but these jobs
didn t meet his standards, they didn t exercise his abilities. Hence Richard decided to enter the
political arena. After being refused from both the Democratic and Republican parties.....Richard
entered the Communist party after hearing of there efforts to promote equality among races.
While in the Communist Party, Richard s writings began to have a direct influence on many people.
He was a leading contributor to the magazine and newspapers Daily Worker and New Masses which
held very controversial beliefs for the time. His novels, Uncle Tom s Children (1938) and Native Son
(1940) were written while he was in the party. Richard was one of a few black men in the Communist
Party and it was because of him that many black American s began to look to the Communist Party.
Because of a lack of results and his outspoken militancy, Wright broke away from the party in 1944.
The essay, The God that Failed , gives an oversight to why Richard disagreed with the Communist
party. According to the Communist Party, Richard was not writing about what they wanted such as
ways to come together and fight against others,he was reflecting the life of the black American and the
Communists found this to have little importance to what they were trying to portray.

Persuasive Essay On Clean Water
A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a common
outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint, but also as large
as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or catchment (USGS, 2016).
Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and the water that gets to a certain
place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is ruined or destroyed, then the price of
water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will become higher to fix damages and the water
could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it means that water flow and clean rivers will change path
or dry up. Since the major issue is that the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted,
the plan we have come up with is to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major
rivers in Colorado and collecting garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the
buildup of plastics and Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are
recycled (Scholtus, 2009). This number is stunning due to the recycling programs we have and all the
proper ways to get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). With the excess amount of plastics and
Styrofoam that end up in our watershed, areas might end up getting clogged and thus changing the
path of a stream. Not to mention, such change in the flow of water is also

Ele Wiesel Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech
January 30, 1933 forever marks the beginning of the Holocaust, one of the most horrifying and cruel
events in the history of the world. It was the mass genocide of millions of innocent jews, gays,
Jehovah Witnesses, gypsies, and countless others. After the Holocaust, it is clear to society that we, as
people, cannot stand by and watch as other human beings suffer from cruel acts in which they have no
ability to defend themselves. In modern day, it seems as though ethnic cleansing is becoming less
common, however, there are still many instances of it occurring around the world. In fact, the country
of Myanmar is currently attempting to deprive its Rohingya citizens of their basic rights and
exterminate them from the population.
There were many things to be learned from the Holocaust, one of the most important including apathy
toward discrimination and ethnic cleansing. In Elie Wiesel s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech
about his experienced imprisonment in concentration camps, he explained that people must always
take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never
the tormented . According to Wiesel, someone who stands by and does nothing while another person
suffers is just as guilty as the offender. Additionally, he states in his speech The Perils of Indifference
that, Indifference reduces the other to an abstraction . A lack of compassion toward the victims of
cruel treatment shows that they are of no concern. Prisoners

Hatchet By Gary Paulsen Character Analysis
Have you ever wondered what it is like to survive in the wilderness? If you have read the book
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen then you would know how to do some of the basics in survival like to get
food and shelter. Some things Brian had to do was to gather food and in the next few paragraphs I will
get deeper into that topic. He had some Aha Moments that helped him get more food options to
survive. This paragraph will be about how Brian was able to get his first food option besides berries.
He has figured out how to get some more tools using the hatchet and that finally let him be able to
capture fish. In chapter 11 it says Fish. Of course he thought. There were fish in the lake and they were
food. And if a bird could do it... Brian realizes that there are fish in the lake and they are food. He
needs to make a weapon to be able to capture them so that way he can have more food. He does that
by making a fish spear that sometimes works. After that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Brian realizes that there are birds in the woods and he has to figure out how to see them. When he
does this in chapter 15 it says And that had been the secret. He had been looking for feathers, for the
color of the bird, for a bird sitting there. He had to look for the outline instead, had to see the shape
instead of the feathers or color, had to train his eyes to see the shape... it was like turning on a
television. Suddenly he could see things he never saw before. In just moments it seemed, he saw three
birds before they flew, saw them sitting and got close to one of them, moving slowly, got close enough
to try a shot with his bow. Brian realizes there are birds in the forest and he might be able to shoot one
with his bow to get more food. He wants to use some of his fish arrows to get a bird. It might not work
but he knows there are birds and he knows how to see them before they fly away. He can use that
against them and he might one day catch one and eat

Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Essay
Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof
Doris Lessing s A Woman on a Roof allows us to understand how some men view woman: as mere
objects for display and possession. Lessing shows how each of the male characters reacts and deals
with rejection from a woman sunbathing on a nearby rooftop. We discover how three men s
preoccupation with sex keeps them unaware of how their advances may be unwanted and ignorant of
their action s possible consequences.
All three men share the desire to get this woman s attention. Working on a rooftop of a block of flats
in the hot, hot, sun, these men seek a diversion from the relentless heat. They whistle, yell, and wave
at a near naked woman on a rooftop nearby, but the woman pays no mind ... Show more content on

They report her movements to one another. Stanley likens her presence on her roof to a crime gotten
away with. He states that he would never let his wife do what she is doing (Lessing 857). Acting as
judge and jury, all three men seem to deny her the right to be on her roof doing as she pleases.
The woman acts as if she has managed to escape the mindless need to entertain men (Allen 200). The
woman on the roof has not offered one invitation for comment or attention, yet the men feel she has.
By being caught by their eyes was invitation enough, yet the woman ignores the men no matter what
(Lessing 858). She remains the symbol of a new age woman who disdains harassment from men.
Tom believes he is this woman s hero. Throughout the story he sees himself protecting her from
Stanley s domination (Lessing 858). He feels he is not her harasser and that she must be aware of his
love for her. His dreams of her have convinced him that meeting this woman is in his destiny. He
doesn t interpret her indifference as rejection as Stanley does and has no idea how he will suffer for it
later. Far gone into his fantasy, Tom imagines the nearby crane aiding his heroic rescue of her.
Stanley shows a hatred for this woman s remote coolness (Lessing 858). An attitude not yet displayed
by Tom and long since forgotten by Harry, his anger reveals how he has dealt with the indifference of
women before. Protected for the moment, by this lofty location, Stanley

Canadian Tire Company ( Ctc )
Canadian Tire Company (CTC) is a large scale retail and automotive service organization with
multiple business units. The company had established itself as a nationally known retailer through its
Canadian Tire Retail (CTR) division. CTC had also gone on to create its own financial service unit
Canadian Tire Financial Services (CTFS) to manage and support its card holder program along with
its online and telephone sales operations. Canadian Tire Petroleum (CTP), PartsSource, and Mark s
Work Warehouse are additional sectors of the company s business integrated strategy. In 2002, CTC
stated a new strategic goal that would require the use of highly functional and standardized business
intelligence (BI) environment to achieve its stated goals. This led to the review of the current
information system architecture at CTC. As to be expected in a large multifaceted organization, a
review if the company s data warehousing and business intelligence environment revealed a highly
complex technical architecture with a multitude of hardware, software, operating systems, network
services, development tools and applications being utilized across the business (Haggerty Meister,
2003 p.3). For example, at the store level CTR ran the IBM A/S 400 systems with point of sale (POS)
system and servers that networked to the IBM mainframe systems at the CTR data center. This system
shared support between the CTR and the CTC retail systems group Haggerty Meister, 2003). The

Bullying
In todays society suicide is the leading cause of death in young people. They have also found a strong
connection between bullying and suicide. There are four main types of bullying: Physical, verbal,
indirect, and cyber bullying. Seventy seven percent of students said they have experienced being
bullied. Fourteen percent of those students also said they experienced severe response to the abuse.
More than half of the bullying that happens today goes unreported. Physical bullying isn t just beating
another child up. Physical bullying is only considered bullying if the child is repeatedly targeted. It
can also cross the line and end up leading to harassment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 15 year old from Co. Clare hanged herself after she became the victim of a hate campaign at her
school. Classmates were said to be jealous that she had started dating a boy on the school football
team. (Markham smith 20) In this article it goes on to tell us how the state dealt with the death of this
young girl and how important it is to keep the adolescents happy. The Massachusetts House of
Representatives and the State Senate unanimously approved a bill on Thursday that aims to prevent
any further cases of this type. (Markham smith 20) Indirect bullying is rumors. This is a big type of
bullying. This type is easily spread around from one to another, especially through schools. Indirect
bullying can happen without anyone having to even speak. It can be shown through dirty looks to
another person or through negative body language. This can emotionally hurt a person rather than
physically. This could happen just by excluding a person out of your group. And finally there is cyber
bullying. This is through technology. It can vary from sending an insulting text message, email, or
even sending a picture of another person out. It can also be on any social network, such as, Facebook,
twitter, Instagram, and so on. This could cause a kid to be so upset that they are scared to go to school.
This is a fast, easy way to for bullies to really

The Depth Psychology Of Evil, And The Nature Of God
Corbett s parallel to his former religion continues in his chapter on the depth psychology of evil, and
the nature of God. In this section, he moves into theodicy, the attempt to justify God in the face of evil
(p.129). As Corbett explains, God image within the Western monotheistic philosophy is one that is
both all good and all powerful, but that the presence of evil in our world creates a paradox of these
two natures. The tried arguments is that either God is all powerful, but in allowing and/or creating evil
means that he is not all good, or that he is all good, but inability to stop evil means that he is not all
powerful. This point creates a paradox of the Christian God, making him impossible in the mind of
modern person. Nevertheless, in his true fashion, Corbett moves away from Christian ideology, but
not away from the essence of it entirely. Instead, he proposes instead a different nature of God. That is,
a God of dual natures: abstract and concrete. In God s abstract nature, he is timeless and perfect, while
in his concrete nature, he is not all powerful, not changeless, and not all knowing, and not the ultimate
source in the universe (p.131). But, he is still loving. The implications therefore are that using force is
outside of his loving nature, so God cannot stop evil, and that because god is within us all, he suffers
with us. Corbett s argument makes God compatible with actually sound belief in the nature of evil.

  • 2. Investigating The Pricing Of Audit Researches about audit pricing started in the 1980s with the publishing of Simunic (1980) s The pricing of audit services: Theory and evidence. He set out the multiple regression model of audit pricing and run the regression analysis using data from 397 listed companies in USA. Simunic took the position that audit fees are determined by the loss exposure of the client comlany, the apportionment rate of loss between the audit firm and the client company, and the production function and characteristics of the audit firm . The results of his study demonstrate that the scale of an auditee is the most significant factor determining its audit fees, despite other factors, such as the ratio of receivables to total assets of the client company and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the researches mentioned above focus on developed economies, where audit markets have similar characteristics: audit markets are mature and oligopolistic; audit markets operate under stable policy and regulation. However, things might be different in China, a developing economy, due to the imperfect regulation and a highly competitive audit market, where top ten audit firms are only in charge of 30% listed companies during 2005 2007, while big 8 audit firms dominated the audit market in developed economies in the same period (Li et al., 2005; Wang et al., 2008). Most empirical studies of audit fees have come out due to government s requirement of Chinese listed companies to disclose audit fees in their financial reports, since 2001. Some works investigate the determinants of audit fees directly. Wang (2002) became the first researcher to study audit pricing determinants of Chinese listed companies. He concludes that the scale of client firm and auditor, the complexity of client firm, audit opinion, audit risk, and the industry of client firms are of statistically significance in determining audit fees. Liu et al. (2003) s research further concludes that the location of client firm is significantly related to audit fees. Wu (2003) s contribution is that there is a positive relationship between the changing of audit opinions (basically from unqualified opinion to qualified ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Civil Rights Movement And The American Civil Movement The Civil Rights Movement, also known as the American Civil Rights Movement and other names, is a term that encompasses the strategies, groups, and social movements in the United States whose goals were to end racial segregation and discrimination against African Americans and to secure legal recognition and federal protection of the citizenship rights enumerated in the Constitution and federal law. The movement was characterized by major campaigns of civil resistance. Between 1955 and 1968, acts of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience produced crisis situations and productive dialogues between activists and government authorities. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, which ended segregation in public places and banned employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin, is considered one of the crowning legislative achievements of the civil rights movement. In the following years, Congress expanded the act and also passed additional legislation aimed at bringing equality to African Americans, such as the Voting Rights Act of 1965. • 5. Application Virtualization For A Virtual Machine Monitor (... 1. Introduction Virtualization is a term used to describe technology that uses abstraction to instruct a guest operating system, data storage, or network device to use underlying shared hardware or software as described by Pearce et al. [1]. Abstraction is managed at a software layer known as a virtual machine monitor (VMM) or hypervisor. The VMM or hypervisor emulates hardware to guest operating systems and applications, which includes core processor unit (CPU), memory, input/output (I/O), and network traffic [1, pp.2]. There are different areas of virtualization, which include server virtualization, application virtualization, network virtualization, storage virtualization, and desktop virtualization [1, pp.8]. The branching out of virtualization into different areas displays the rapid growth of this technology. The VMM and hypervisor software layer provides security challenges that should be addressed in order to protect resources and data within virtualization. For example, this additional layer of technology opens up new paths which an attacker can use to break into and interrupt a system or network. The VMM can also be a single point of failure in a virtualized environment [1, pp. 33]. If the VMM is compromised, then the virtual environment managed by the VMM could be compromised as well. The primary focus of this literature review will be physical hosts, which are VMMs and hypervisors managing a virtualization environment. The Important Ideas section will ... • 6. Propaganda In Advertising In advertisement, propaganda is all around. It is in newspaper articles, television ads, movies, and a plethora of other things. Propaganda is a type of advertisement that shows how good or how much better a product is that anything else in that department. Advertisers lean heavily on propaganda to sell products, whether the products are a brand of toothpaste, a candidate for office, or a particular political viewpoint. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232). There are seven main types of propaganda, Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon. Since its first use, most people when they hear propaganda, think only about political ads but that is not all that propaganda is used for. Although propaganda may seem relevant only in the political arena, the concept can be applied fruitfully to the way products and ideas are sold in advertising. (The Longman Writer McClintock s Essay Pg. 232) Two very good examples of using propaganda techniques are a State Farm commercial, and a Farmers advertisement. The State Farm ad is a beautifully done, two minute long commercial that is meant to pull on the heart string of the watcher with a technique such as Plain Folks. The farmers advertisement on the other hand is a think out of the box comical commercial that does not cause emotions to stir but instead makes up it up with a Testimonial. Circulatory Shock Circulatory shock is a syndrome of widespread cellular hypoxia, triggered by a systemic alteration of perfusion and delivery and/or utilization of tissue oxygen, eventually causing end organ dysfunction and death [53]. It can be subdivided into 4 distinct categories according to its primary pathophysiological mechanism, namely cardiogenic, hypovolemic, obstructive and distributive [54]. In the first 3 types, perfusion has changed as a consequence of the cardiac output decrease, whereas distributive types of shock are related to a primary dysfunction of the resistive component of the cardiovascular system. There are various effects which may be responsible for the toxic actions of peroxynitrite on the heart, including myocardial cell death, either by caspase 3 dependent apoptosis [74], or PARP mediated necrosis [75]. A direct correlation linking the degree of myocardial PARP activation and the severity of cardiac functional alterations has been established in humans with septic shock [76]. Myocardial contractility can also be impaired by peroxynitrite due to disturbance in regulatory mechanism of intracellular calcium through the inactivation of SERCA2A [77], by altering different myofibrillar proteins including actin, myosin [78] and alpha actinin [79], by interrupting myofibrillar energetics through inactivation of the myofibrillar isoform of creatine kinase [80] and by activating matrix metalloproteinases [81], which promotes contractile failure by cleaving key sarcomeric proteins including troponin and myosin light chain ... The auteurs approach of analysing films include the more important elements that makes up a film such as: editing, cinematography, lighten, casting, themes, story line, art direction and aesthetic style (Rosenberg, 2010). Anderson s films all possess distinct techniques that he was heavily involved in producing. The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) featured many of his signature techniques such as using the recurring themes, filming styles, type of music and backdrop to give audiences a better understanding of the film and imprinting a certain tone throughout the film. It can be noticed that Anderson s cinematic choices has enabled the underlying reality of his storyline to be masked, providing the characters an avenue to explore his infamous recurring theme choices such as the loss of innocence, grief, dysfunctional families and the harsh but simple realities of entering adulthood (MacDowell, 2012). For example, Anderson masked the Tenenbaum s true dysfunctional situation with his cinematic choices; mainly, the synergy of the stillness of the camera and acting of the characters, to portray an incongruous image of the film. One example where this was evident in would be the scene in which Margot s series of shocking experiences were shown from smoking at the age of 12 to being secretly being married. Anderson portrayed these series of events in Margot s life more lightly than it should have been through Margot s monotonous expressions while carrying out these experiences as well as her ex husband, Raleigh St Clair s neutral expressions when he found out about the extent of how secretive Margot was. One would expect a bigger reaction from Raleigh, however, the way the severity of Margot s experiences were being covered contributed to portraying an incongruous image of the film as it ignored the reality of the way he must have felt while finding out about this hidden side of Margot. Instead, Anderson focused on highlighting on some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wayne seemed very confused as to where he stood in a relationship with Caroline. It felt as though Caroline did not want to try to communicate anymore, and Wayne had not for a long time, and wanted to make it work before the relationship was lost. This contributed to their marriage s demise. For Ranch Girl, there was a clear lack of communication between her and Andy. For years, the only conversations really happening between them was over Andy s come home and fuck me (p. 48). Ranch Girl did not talk with him much, yet planned her entire life around marrying Andy. The heavy emotion held behind each story feels like it is held together by this lack of communication between people who liked each other. In contrast, these relationships differed in the actual time spent together and the depth behind that. In Ranch Girl there was a clear lack of actual time spent developing any boundaries of a relationship. The two characters were young, and had liked each other from afar, sharing only a single dance. You dance with him at the all night graduation part, and he watches you around the waist and says he doesn t know a more beautiful girl (p. 51). • 11. The Cause Of Maternal Death Worldwide Abstract Maternal sepsis is preventable, yet remains the leading cause of maternal death worldwide, according to a study published in 2013 (Acosta Knight, 2013). Early recognition of symptoms and implementation of correct treatment is key to prevent mortality. A break in nursing education can prevent prompt treatment to patients. Given that pregnant women are more vulnerable to infection and susceptible to serious complications, makes a clear understanding of maternal sepsis imperative (Joseph, Sinha, Paech, Walters, 2009). The purpose of this project was to determine if there is a need on Memorial Hospital s LDRP unit for more education related to maternal sepsis. Even though sepsis is a major contributor to maternal mortality, septic shock in pregnancy fortunately is relatively rare, affecting only 0.002% to 0.010% of all births (Dutra Olvera, 2016). Regardless of how low the statistics, maternal mortality happens and the preparedness of units will influence a positive outcome. A needs assessment identifies the discrepancy between the present knowledge and the desired knowledge to develop protocols and education which will bridge the gap between the what is and what should be . The needs assessment developed for the 23 staff members on the small LDRP unit of Memorial Hospital focused on what the end knowledge base should be. Questions were formulated after an extensive literature review, focusing on early recognition, definitions and specifics for care. This needs assessment will help implement protocols that will improve the care provided, as well as the comfort of the staff members face to face with perinatal mothers. Review of Literature Critical management of maternal sepsis is key in preventing mortality and identifying a patient at risk can help with initiation of management. • 12. Nazi Gold Essay Nazi Gold The twentieth century has been credited with introducing the world to total war. World War II was one of the most devastating wars that affected almost all the major nations in the world. A vital part of financing the war machines of each country was the ability to pay for it all. Under the circumstances, gold and silver were quite useful to the nation that obtained large amounts of either, and the means to convert it all into monetary credits. Between 1938 and 1945, Nazi Germany met the aforementioned requirements easily, as Hitler looted the central and commercial banks of occupied Europe. This was clearly shown when, in a 1940 American court case involving Austrian assets, it was mentioned that, This change [the annexation] has occurred in a manner acceptable to our notions of international law; the Anschluß has in no way been disavowed #8230;. (Smith 2) As no nation interfered with Germany s takeover of Austria, the Nazi party was able to annex the Anschluß, or Austria s Central Bank, by March 17, 1938 (Smith 2). By 1939, Hitler had already taken over much of Czechoslovakia, as a result of the Munich Agreements, signed in September of 1938 (Smith 4). Slowly, Czechoslovakia s assets were pulled in by the Reichsbank, much of which was located in the Bohemian Discount bank and the Bohemian Union Bank. Comparative Rhetorical Analysis Of Andy Stern Comparative Rhetorical Analysis Everyone views things a little differently, therefore different writers have different perspectives about different subject matter. For example, while Andy Stern s stance is that technology will one day take over the jobs of the working class Dean Baker thinks it has nothing to do with the rise in technology at all and more to do with generating demand through government deficits. The way Stern successfully incorporates ethos, pathos, and logos in his piece of writing is more appropriate and effective in accomplishing rhetorical purpose than Baker s writing. • 14. A Summary Of The Gunpowder Plot Remember, remember, the fifth of November; we all know the rhyme but how well do we really know the story? In the essay I will explore how the plotters were punished and why they were punished so severely. Before you can explore the punishments, you first have to know the story. The Gunpowder Plot started on May 20th 1604; however, the reasons behind the plot started many years prior to that. In fact, the entire reason behind the plot dated back to Henry VIII, when religious turmoil broke out. You could say, all hell broke loose. It all started when Henry made his break from Rome to allow him to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon. This made England a Protestant country which many didn t like, or rather, hated. This turmoil continued for many years, as the next king, Edward, kept Protestantism whilst Mary, the following monarch, (also known as Bloody Mary) changed the national religion back to Catholicism and took her religion to further extremes by burning Protestants. Upon Mary s death Elizabeth I took the reigns and, yet again, switched the religion. She also persecuted those who didn t follow the same religion as her, as she made it illegal to be a Catholic and illegal to go to a non Protestant Church. James VI of Scotland came to the throne next and he, despite thoughts that he might have been kinder to Catholics, kept the aforementioned Recuncansy Laws. The country was a mess. The first world war saw drastic increases in mankind s capacity to kill other human beings and cause insurmountable harm to human society and culture. The human condition was drastically different. With a new world war on the horizon, the international community had decided to band together to form a way in which it could help exercise the correct legal disposition and formality to positively influence the world. An international body was crucial after the first world war in order to maintain peace and order as the world picked up the pieces from their injustices. This was also true after the Second world war where the world saw, again, how the cruelties of humanity had to be prevented in order for the international body to prevent the forming of higher casualty rates and human suffering. Through his literary works and philosophies he helped to inspire many 20th century communist regimes including the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, and North Korea. Marx s ideas did not end at communism; his religious ideology also helped shape and mold the 20th century world. Karl Marx was born in 1818 in Trier, Germany and died in 1883. Third, religion is hypocritical. Although it might profess valuable principles, it sides with the oppressors. Jesus advocated helping the poor, but the Christian church merged with the oppressive Roman state, taking part in the enslavement of people for centuries. In the Middle Ages the Catholic Church preached about heaven, but acquired as much property and power as possible. Martin Luther preached the ability of each individual to interpret the Bible, but sided with aristocratic rulers and against peasants who fought against economic and social oppression. According to Marx, this new form of Christianity, Protestantism, was a production of new economic forces as early capitalism developed. New economic realities required a new religious superstructure by which it could be justified and defended. In addition to critiquing religion, Karl Marx wrote about the basic ideologies and principles on socialism and communism. • 24. Evaluation Of Chemokine Receptor Cxcr3 Receptor Gene... Yahya Bello To test whether chemokine receptor CXCR3 mediates gene transcription Introduction SAA (Serum Amyloid A) function is similar to a C reactive protein (an annular pentameric protein that is mostly found in blood plasma and its levels rise in response to inflammation. It considered as an acute phase protein of hepatic origin, which increases following interleukin 6 secretion by macrophages and T cells) but acts as an acute phase protein, which can be used as an indicative, predictive or as a therapy follow up marker for many diseases such as Atherosclerosis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn s disease, and diabetes. As the level of the serum increases, the SAA is triggered by physical insults to the host which includes infection, trauma, inflammatory reactions, and cancer (R. Kisilevsky a, 1991). A broad response range is reflected by an SAA gene duplication, which results into a cluster encoding of several SAA variants and by multiple biological functions of SAA. SAA prompted chemokines in degrading enzymes through a Toll like receptors and it functions as an activator and chemoattractant through a G protein coupled receptor. A persistent stimulus in an infectious or inflammatory area, this will cause the liver to produce more SAA, which will become an antimicrobial agent by functioning as a direct opsonin of bacteria (Urieli Shoval, Linke, Matzner, 2000). The Core Components Of The Social Exchange Theory Social Exchange Theory is grounded in the idea that people assess their relationships from an economic perspective when pertaining to costs and rewards that are identified amongst different relational partners. It is within this paper that we discuss the core components that make up the theory, the possible advantages and disadvantages of its use, as well as touch base on a real world communication example the Social Exchange Theory can be associated with. There are multiple core components that have been identified and further constructed in which make up the Social Exchange Theory. West and Turner (2014) further explain that costs are the factors that contribute to the negative value we place on relationships while rewards are rather the positive values. Additionally, West and Turner proceed with the idea that we evaluate all types of relationships by using the following equation: Worth = Rewards Costs When rewards are greater than the costs, or the final amount is a positive number, it is considered to be a positive relationship, whereas a negative number would indicate the relationship to be negative. The Social Exchange Theory then acknowledges the worth of these relationships and the outcomes that will be endured, or whether or not relationships will hold stable or instead be terminated. It is the idea that individuals enter into and maintain relationships as long as it is satisfying both person s self interest. Social Exchange Theory is based on the idea that ... Many scholars argue that Shakespeare is not the author of his plays. In fact, none other than Edward de Vere comes to the forefront of this controversy. De Vere was highly educated, had a biographical connection to some of the characters in Shakespeare s plays and had a similar writing structure to Shakespeare. The evidence is clear that William from Stratfor did not write his plays, but rather Edward de Vere did. De Vere was fully qualified to write the thorough pieces of work that were attributed to Shakespeare. According to BBC America, de Vere was highly educated and trained as a lawyer . • 29. Newton s Laws of Motion An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force (Newton s First Law). To determine if a person should run or walk, you will have to understand the Second Law of Motion. The second law states that force equals mass times acceleration. In order for a person of a certain mass to accelerate, that person must use some force, so the force must overcome gravity, friction, and be larger than the mass of the person trying to move (Newton s Second Law of Motion). If you want to walk or run you will need a bigger force (¶ 4). To walk is not as hard as running, so less force is needed to succeed in doing it (Forester). This leads us to the third law of motion, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (Newton s Third Law). Another concept of Physics is moving water. For example, flushing the toilet, waterfalls and dams. Flushing a toilet is a great example of transferring energy. Usually on most toilets there is tan on the back of it filled with water. Water that is stored is a great example of potential energy and no kinetic energy. Once toilet is flushed, it gives the water momentum. From waterfalls and dams we can produce hydropower. Document D, written by David Wilmot of the Wilmot Proviso, reveals the tensions created by the Mexican cession, saying, I ask not that slavery be abolished, I demand that this government preserve the integrity of free territory against the aggressions of slavery against its wrongful usurpations. Up until that point, there were an equal number of slave and free states. How would the balance be maintained? Wilmot suggested that slavery remain only in the current slave states and not spread to any new territories. However, his plan was rejected, showing that neither side would compromise, but, instead, that the Union would break apart. Therefore, the Compromise of 1850 was passed as a way to appease the north and the south. Document E shows the distinct separation of slave and free states resultant of this compromise. This case often raises a debate about whether or not the men should have been charged with murder during war time, when orders were not clearly defined. Based on Kant s Categorical Imperative ethical model, if I was acting as the fifth judge in this case, I would find the men guilty. This is because a person who utilizes the Kantian view believes that the only pure good is pure human reason without consequences. This pure human reason works without the influence of human emotions and desires. A truly good act, as defined by Kant, is performed because of an obligation to the categorical imperative. Thus, theology might provide us with information sufficient to conclude that Jesus Christ was a single person with two natures, one human and one divine, but leave us in the dark about exactly how this relationship between divine and human natures is to be understood. The philosopher can provide some assistance here, since, among other things, he or she can help the theologian discern which models are, for example, logically inconsistent and thus not even candidates for understanding the relationship of divine and human natures in Christ. For most of the twentieth century, the vast majority of English language philosophy went on without much interaction with theology at all. Sociological Issues On Social Issues When thinking about sociological issues taking place in our society today, issues concerning our environment commonly are not ones we put on the top of the list, however they should be. It is not that any of the other social issues do not matter, but without a world to live on, or an environment to live off of those other issues would not even be taking place. Our environment has been something that we neglect and carelessly use for our own personal economic growth because it is what has been done for many years. We are destroying our world s land and using up its natural resources and are even wasting them without concern about what consequences are resulting from doing so. There are ways that we could fix and eliminate problems that we have caused to our environment, but in order to do so we will have come together and put in the effort to make the change and become more environmentally conscious in the aspects of our everyday lifestyles. Much of our world s land is destroyed to provide for our growing population through the occurrence of deforestation which causes loss of biodiversity and soil depletion. There are natural causes of deforestation such as wildfires, but most of it occurs through urban development and most notably agricultural development. We destroy acres of forests in order to have more land for cattle and other farm animals to graze upon, but also to have land to produce grain that won t be fed to us, but to the animals. Female Oppression In Kate Chopin s Story Of An Hour Ria Dhulekar Ryan Culver English 3 10 February 2016 Story of an Hour: A joy that kills The theme of female oppression is often seen in literature in the late 1800 s. During this time period women stayed out of the spotlight and remained in their husband s shadows. Women lived a life of silence because there were no ears willing to listen to their thoughts and feelings. Many female authors emerged during this time period and made an impact through their writings. Kate Chopin was one of them. She is considered one of the first feminist authors of the 20th century. Most of Kate Chopin s stories dealt with women facing many social barriers by expressing their individual wants and needs. One of her short stories entitled Story of an ... • 40. Essay on Richard Wright Richard Wright Whenever I thought of the essential bleakness of black life in America, I knew that Negroes had never been allowed to catch the full spirit of Western civilization, that they lived somehow in it but not of it. And when I brooded upon the cultural barrenness of black life, I wondered if clean, positive tenderness, love, honor, loyalty, and the capacity to remember were native with man. I asked myself if these human qualities were not fostered, won, struggled and suffered for, preserved in ritual from one generation to another. This passage written in Black Boy, the autobiography of Richard Wright shows the disadvantages of Black people in the 1930 s. A man of many words, Richard Wrights is the father of the modern ... Richard traveled around the country picking up odd jobs but these jobs didn t meet his standards, they didn t exercise his abilities. Hence Richard decided to enter the political arena. After being refused from both the Democratic and Republican parties.....Richard entered the Communist party after hearing of there efforts to promote equality among races. While in the Communist Party, Richard s writings began to have a direct influence on many people. He was a leading contributor to the magazine and newspapers Daily Worker and New Masses which held very controversial beliefs for the time. His novels, Uncle Tom s Children (1938) and Native Son (1940) were written while he was in the party. Richard was one of a few black men in the Communist Party and it was because of him that many black American s began to look to the Communist Party. Because of a lack of results and his outspoken militancy, Wright broke away from the party in 1944. The essay, The God that Failed , gives an oversight to why Richard disagreed with the Communist party. According to the Communist Party, Richard was not writing about what they wanted such as ways to come together and fight against others,he was reflecting the life of the black American and the Communists found this to have little importance to what they were trying to portray. • 41. Persuasive Essay On Clean Water A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that falls in it drains off or goes to a common outlet (USGS, 2016). Unknown to many, a watershed could be as small as a footprint, but also as large as a lake. The word watershed is interchangeable with drainage basins or catchment (USGS, 2016). Watersheds are important because it controls the flow of rivers and the water that gets to a certain place and this is how we get our fresh water. If the watershed is ruined or destroyed, then the price of water and clean water will then get worse, the prices will become higher to fix damages and the water could be unsafe to drink. When I say ruined it means that water flow and clean rivers will change path or dry up. Since the major issue is that the bodies of water emptying into our watershed are polluted, the plan we have come up with is to make the rivers clean by putting nets up and down the major rivers in Colorado and collecting garbage. To be specific, a problem faced by our watershed t is the buildup of plastics and Styrofoam. In fact, out of 50 billion bottles sold every year only 20% are recycled (Scholtus, 2009). This number is stunning due to the recycling programs we have and all the proper ways to get rid of plastic water bottles (Scholtus 2009). With the excess amount of plastics and Styrofoam that end up in our watershed, areas might end up getting clogged and thus changing the path of a stream. Not to mention, such change in the flow of water is also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the mass genocide of millions of innocent jews, gays, Jehovah Witnesses, gypsies, and countless others. After the Holocaust, it is clear to society that we, as people, cannot stand by and watch as other human beings suffer from cruel acts in which they have no ability to defend themselves. In modern day, it seems as though ethnic cleansing is becoming less common, however, there are still many instances of it occurring around the world. In fact, the country of Myanmar is currently attempting to deprive its Rohingya citizens of their basic rights and exterminate them from the population. There were many things to be learned from the Holocaust, one of the most important including apathy toward discrimination and ethnic cleansing. In Elie Wiesel s Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech about his experienced imprisonment in concentration camps, he explained that people must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented . According to Wiesel, someone who stands by and does nothing while another person suffers is just as guilty as the offender. Additionally, he states in his speech The Perils of Indifference that, Indifference reduces the other to an abstraction . Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Essay Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Doris Lessing s A Woman on a Roof allows us to understand how some men view woman: as mere objects for display and possession. Lessing shows how each of the male characters reacts and deals with rejection from a woman sunbathing on a nearby rooftop. We discover how three men s preoccupation with sex keeps them unaware of how their advances may be unwanted and ignorant of their action s possible consequences. All three men share the desire to get this woman s attention. Working on a rooftop of a block of flats in the hot, hot, sun, these men seek a diversion from the relentless heat. Stanley likens her presence on her roof to a crime gotten away with. He states that he would never let his wife do what she is doing (Lessing 857). Acting as judge and jury, all three men seem to deny her the right to be on her roof doing as she pleases. The woman acts as if she has managed to escape the mindless need to entertain men (Allen 200). The woman on the roof has not offered one invitation for comment or attention, yet the men feel she has. By being caught by their eyes was invitation enough, yet the woman ignores the men no matter what (Lessing 858). She remains the symbol of a new age woman who disdains harassment from men. Tom believes he is this woman s hero. Throughout the story he sees himself protecting her from Stanley s domination (Lessing 858). He feels he is not her harasser and that she must be aware of his love for her. His dreams of her have convinced him that meeting this woman is in his destiny. He doesn t interpret her indifference as rejection as Stanley does and has no idea how he will suffer for it later. Far gone into his fantasy, Tom imagines the nearby crane aiding his heroic rescue of her. Stanley shows a hatred for this woman s remote coolness (Lessing 858). • 48. The Depth Psychology Of Evil, And The Nature Of God Corbett s parallel to his former religion continues in his chapter on the depth psychology of evil, and the nature of God. In this section, he moves into theodicy, the attempt to justify God in the face of evil (p.129). As Corbett explains, God image within the Western monotheistic philosophy is one that is both all good and all powerful, but that the presence of evil in our world creates a paradox of these two natures. The tried arguments is that either God is all powerful, but in allowing and/or creating evil means that he is not all good, or that he is all good, but inability to stop evil means that he is not all powerful. This point creates a paradox of the Christian God, making him impossible in the mind of modern person. Nevertheless, in his true fashion, Corbett moves away from Christian ideology, but not away from the essence of it entirely. Instead, he proposes instead a different nature of God. That is, a God of dual natures: abstract and concrete. In God s abstract nature, he is timeless and perfect, while in his concrete nature, he is not all powerful, not changeless, and not all knowing, and not the ultimate source in the universe (p.131). But, he is still loving. The implications therefore are that using force is outside of his loving nature, so God cannot stop evil, and that because god is within us all, he suffers with us. Corbett s argument makes God compatible with actually sound belief in the nature of evil. Careful not to belittle the very real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
