Kid Kustomer Essay
Kid Kustomers
No matter where children are or what they are doing they ll always find some sort of advertisements.
It can be when their casually watching television, reading a magazine or just playing games on their
computer. Advertisements are different forms of communication whose purpose is to make their
product known to the public. Marketers aren t partial to certain people; they target anyone and every
age group, but recently there has been an upsurge of advertisements aimed towards children. In Eric
Schlosser s article, Kid Kustomers, he demonstrates how child advertising has boomed by the tactics
marketers use to get children to want and demand certain companies products. The big boom in child
advertisement occurred in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schlosser refers to the Joe Camel ad campaign, which used a hip cartoon character to sell cigarettes. A
1991 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that nearly all of
America s six year olds could identify Joe Camel, who was just as familiar to them as Mickey Mouse.
Interestingly enough, another study found that one third of cigarettes illegally sold to minors was in
fact Camels. Not only do advertisers need a way to get kids to want their product, they also need
children to be able to persuade their parents into buying them that product. The concept of children
persuading other people to buy them what they want is known as the surrogate salesmen. James U.
McNeal s, professor of marketing at Texas A M University, classified kids nagging tactics into seven
major categories; pleading, persistent, forceful, demonstrative, sugar coated, threatening, and pity
based appeals. Kids learn what appeal or style works best on their parents and stick to that ploy
whenever they want something. Observing children in their own environment allows marketers to
understand the minds of children. Advertisers conduct surveys, organize focus groups, analyze
children s artwork, study academic literature on child development and even have cultural
anthropologists observe children without them knowing. Marketers do all that research so they can get
a grasp on what children are most

A Report On The s Performance Indicators, Current Status...
Company Reports One of the first reports used is the Company Dashboard Report. This is a visual
report displaying key performance indicators, current status of metrics, and can be tailored for a
department s metrics or the overall company metrics. The dashboard provides data for a specific
measure of time (Rouse, 2016) versus a Scorecard, which provides it for a period of time. It is an
important tool for any business looking for departmental information. The information from this
report comes from within the company and provides a snapshot of where the company stands. The
PharmaSim dashboard shows a snapshot of the overview of the company that includes revenue, gross
margin, net income, and stock price. It also has a bar chart based on the department s metrics. In this
case, Allround s performance is shown (Performance Summary Period 1, 2016). The last portion of
the dashboard includes customer comments from social media. This allows for the department to see
customer feedback on a real time basis and make decisions to improve brand performance. The second
report a company can utilize is the Performance Summary. This report measures the success of a
company over a period of time (Performance Report, 2016). The example in the PharmaSim module
shows the company s overall summary for period 1 of the Allround brand and includes a summary of
the decisions made. A snapshot of this information can help a company decide which decisions are
making an impact on positive trending for

Unit 7 Construction and maintenance of buildings
Assignment 1
P1.1:
Desktop Surveys This survey takes place before the site has been visited and before construction has
begun which is during the very early stages of planning. The survey involves a number of different
things like the internet, books, maps, geological maps and council offices which all play a part within
the survey. A good starting point is to consult a number of large scale maps of the proposed site to
check the site boundaries, building lines, existing buildings and other man made, or natural, features
which will affect the future buildings. A comparison with older maps may give some clues to
determine former use and potential hazards that may arise.

Analysis of representative soil samples will also be undertaken to characterise different soil material,
for example, pH, particle size, organic matter, potential contaminants and so on.
P1.2:
Ground investigations are a crucial part of the survey as they determine the nature of the land and
explains the different types of soil which helps identify the type of foundations that should be used or
how water absorbent the soil is. A few stages of a ground investigation include; Trial Pitting, Dynamic
Probe testing/Sampling, Cable Percussive Boreholes and Rotary Boreholes.
Trial Pitting Trial pits can easily be performed by hand but it will take triple the amount of time and
you won t be able to get a good depth to get a good samples. Trial pits are usually dug mechanically
because it is finished much faster and can be dug a lot deeper. Trial pits are normally excavated at
4.5m deep as this provides a good insight of what the foundations will be sitting on and it provides
information if deeper foundations are needed. The advantages of machinery is that greater depths can
be achieved which would result in a more detailed soil sample test etc. A disadvantage of this would
be minor ground disturbance which could cause problems.
Dynamic probe testing/Sampling This can be performed with a tracked percussive or pneumatic
samplers which then collect the samples in plastic test

Rocky Statue Of Philadelphia Analysis
The Face of Philadelphia; an Analysis on the Effects of the Rocky Statue The Rocky statue in
Philadelphia, PA serves as an iconic symbol that has shaped the image of Philadelphia, while
demonstrating that location influences the way people see art. The statue stands tall next to the Rocky
Stairs, and plants into the minds of the people ideas of inspiration, self determination, and pride in
accomplishment, which all help raise Philadelphia up as a proud and progressing city. It s presence at
the art museum also demonstrates the effects of location on a piece of art. Location works like a
manipulation in that it influences the way people see the artwork. Would People look at the statue the

The part about the Rocky statue that makes it so universal is that it represents the tale of an underdog.
This underdog tale not only relates to Philadelphians, but it inspires people everywhere. An interview
was conducted where boxers were asked to talk about Rocky s impact on Philadelphia. Justin Sargus,
a boxer in Philadelphia says The impact it has had on fighters, and what they think they can do, and
endure, and the way they go about training and style is certainly still felt today. A world championship
is a possibility, based from being a relative unknown . (Dinero 1) The statue gives Philadelphia
something monumental to stand on and something to represent all the hardship the city has been
through. The Rocky character also embraces the culture, and lifestyle of a true Philadelphian. He eats
at the same restaurants, runs through the same streets, and speaks like a Philadelphia. This gives the
statue a personal connection to the people of the city, one they can claim as their own. The places and
stores seen in the movie are very popular tourist attractions in the city. Zeke Ferguson from Di Brunos
Bros, a popular site from the movie says It is an iconic story of an underdog which I think all
Philadelphians have been at, at one time or another, and it shows you can succeed in the face of
overwhelming odds (Dinero 1) The city is filled with an enormous amount of diversity and just as the
city and its people have been through hard times, so has Rocky. The statue also appeals to people
worldwide not only because of its iconic underdog story, but because of its ability to appeal on a
personal level. Whenever failure is upon someone, Rocky inspires them to come back strong because
if you work hard you can achieve your goals. Justin Sargus says The thing about the Rocky movies is
that they make it seem like you can take an enormous amount

Neurofibrillary Staining Procedure
Bielschowsky Stain Similar to the Golgi stain, the Bielschowsky stain uses a silver compound, silver
nitrate, as well as ammonium hydroxide to cause silver ions to adhere to the membranes of nervous
tissue. This technique is especially useful in when looking and neurofibrillary tangles and senile
plaque. When dyed, the color of the samples can vary depending on the amount of silver that binds to
particular parts of the specimen. The Bielschowsky stain stains the neurofibrillary tangles, axons, and
plaques a dark brown or black while the background remains yellow. Due to its ability to stain senile
plaques, the stain is commonly used to look at tissues diseased with Alzheimer s disease. Hematoxylin
and Eosin Stain (H E) Indicated by its name, this method of hystogical staining involves two dyes.
The first of which is Hematoxylin. As a basic dye, hematoxylin works as an acidophilic substance.
Because of this, it stains nucleic acids blue and purple. Thus, with this stain the nuclei of cells are
stained blue. The second dye, eosin, is basophilic. Any basic or negatively charged structures, like
proteins with cationic amino acid group, are stained pink. Of the two, eosin tends to be the
overpowering stain, coloring cytoplasmic content, muscle and connective tissues, erythrocytes, and
various other cellular content. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rhetorical Strategies In Frank Schaeffer s Speech Military...
The American government does not understand its people. Members of the government vote for war
and try to persuade the public to join the military. However, they rarely encourage their children to
volunteer for the military. In the speech Military Families, Frank Schaeffer explains that because of
this, the government does not understand the feelings of the people whose children are in harm s way.
Schaeffer uses rhetorical strategies such as historical allusions and repetition in order to persuade the
audience that the government is not capable of representing the people because their children are not
serving in the military.
Schaeffer utilizes historical allusions to show that governments whose leaders had children in the

Goodwill Truly Good Research Paper
Is Goodwill Truly Good? Goodwill originated in 1902 in Boston by a Methodist minister named Rev.
Edgar J. Helms. He went to higher end cities and collected used goods. Then, he would take these
goods and repair them so he could resell or give these items to the less fortunate. He also trained poor
individuals to repair and offered them jobs. This was the start of his motto, a hand up, not a hand
down. Dr. Helms stated that Goodwill is an industrial program as well as a social service enterprise...a

The Role of Central Fatigue in Resistance and Endurance...
What is central fatigue?
Neuromuscular fatigue can be defined as a decline in performance that is usually determined by power
generation capacity. During a static maximal contraction, force will decrease steadily and fatigue
would be observed from the beginning of the exercise. Contrarily, in submaximal contractions, the
target force is maintained for a long time. In this situation, the fatigue is defined as the inability in
maintaining the force, even if the capacity of maximal force generation is impaired earlier during
contraction. Neuromuscular fatigue is usually defined as a reduction of the capacity of maximal force
generation [1]. Velstad (1997), defined neuromuscular fatigue as any exercise induced reduction in the
maximal capacity of force generation or output force. This definition allows us to define fatigue in
different sports and various intensities. Moreover, there must be a distinction between the muscle
weakness as a chronic disorder in force generation or output force and the acute effect of
neuromuscular fatigue. So, it seems that neuromuscular fatigue develops differently depending on the
muscle activity [5]. Fatigue was traditionally related to the metabolic occurrence of ending point
during the exercise in which glycogen concentration of the muscle was depleted completely [6].
Furthermore, cardiovascular [7, 8] and metabolic load, and temperature adjustment are likely
peripheral candidates for the fatigue outbreak during long exercises [9].

My Childhood Experience
Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and
different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their
childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their best
friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have memories
of vacations, funny stories at family gatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike and their dad
carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away.

In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being

Slavery Is The Fourth Of July Analysis
Freedom, this essential term present in the vocabulary of all Americans, is one of the most distinctive

freedom of African Americans from the institution of slavery or the unalienable rights of freedom of

Antiquities Act
The first major piece of legislation that applied to the protection of indigenous remains and cultural
materials came with the passage of the Antiquities Act of 1906. The act had major implications for the
relationship between anthropology and Native Americans. The intent of the Antiquities Act was to
protect the cultural resources of the United States by creating a permitting process for archaeological
excavations and establish punishments for looting. Unfortunately, the act furthered the notion that
anthropologists held authority over indigenous material culture (Daehnke 2011). Instead of protecting
artifacts for indigenous parties, the act legislated the appropriation of culture by anthropologists.

college. Seung Hui Cho a 23 year old South Korean alone executed the killing of 33 people by
securing colleges doors to prevent escape of any students. Events such as these are truly tragic and
devastating to all involved. By gathering background information about Seung Hui Cho, we can

Cho had a hard childhood and was in the shadows of his very successful sister. Even in college Cho
had no friends and began to look up to other school shooters as martyrs. Although these individuals
were not his friends at all in his situation they were the closest thing to having friends. In college Cho
was accused of stalking women on two different occasions, was caught taking photos of the legs of
female students in class and was separated out of classes. I believe that Cho s antisocial lifestyle along
with the transition any from home eventually lead him to commit the mass murder. Cho s anti social
lifestyle seemed to escalate to criminal behaviors from the time he went off to college until the time of
the Virginia Tech shooting. I believe that this tragedy could have been prevented if the proper
preventative measures and treatment techniques were taken. As a boy Cho should have been taken in
for a mental evaluation but I believe the integration of his family into the American society prevented
that. In high school Cho being bullied and teased could have been put to a stop by teachers and
surrounding students. Also when Cho started writing gruesome poems short stories and plays he
should have been recommended to a counselor. Any counselor that Cho had encounters with could
have been a lot more persistent in getting to the bottom of Cho s situations. A teacher college teacher

History of Author
Dante Alighieri. Dante was the original writer of Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise. He was a well
known and well respected poet in the middle ages. His Divine Comedy (The three books I listed

masterpiece of world literature. You could ask almost anyone who Dante was and they will likely
know who he is and be able to name The Divine Comedy as one of his works. He s so well known in
Italy that they refer to him as the father of the Italian language. He defended the vernacular and would
write in the Tuscan dialect for some of his works (The New Life, for example). Because of this, many
other writers of the time and in the future would follow the precedent Dante set. His influence has
been carried down from generation to generation. Proof of this is found in his style of the interlocking
three line rhyme scheme.
Mark Musa. Musa was the translator and note taker for of his own published version of Dante s Divine
Comedy. This was incredibly helpful,

Astronomy Of The Islamic World
Astronomy in Medieval Islam Astronomy is the branch of science that deals with celestial objects,
space, and the universe as a whole. During the medieval era, a golden age of innovations in science
took part in the Islamic world. In particular cities in the Iberian Peninsula, like Cordoba, astronomy
blossomed and thrived as an aftermath of the genius and creativity that took place there. Innovations
in astronomy were vital in inspiring the other scientific discoveries, and were greatly encouraged by
the religious groups during the time. In the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World, S. Nomanul
Haq and Massimo Campanini wrote that astronomy is the only natural science that escaped the
censure of the medieval Muslim opponents of secular sciences (ʿulūm al awāʿil) and found a home in
mosques, receiving the blessing of mainstream religious circles. 1 Because of this support and
encouragement, scientists of astronomy were set up to thrive and innovate. Discoveries during this
period made fundamental advancements on Greek and Mesopotamian astronomy and were crucial for
the later advances of Copernicus and Kepler that give the view on astronomy that is held today. The
support of astronomy that garnered during the medieval era had many influences. One influence was
religion. Marking time accurately is essential for many religions including Islam, Judaism, and
Christianity. The Koran requires the faithful to pray five times a day at five very precise times: at the

Questions On The Motives Of Ministry
Section 3 The Motives of Ministry Lesson 1: Your Relationship with Jesus Christ Maintaining your
relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing you should hold onto. If you lose that, then it
is guaranteed that you will not be an effective minister. There is no way that you can operate under the
agape love and not know Jesus Christ for yourself. How can one explain the character of Jesus Christ
if you have not discovered them for yourself? Remain true to who God has called you to be. Ministry
does not begin with a love for people. It begins with a love for God and then that love overflows to the
children of God. If we minister to God s people only out of a humanistic love for people we will be

If you have ever been to a restaurant where they have a front cashier, like McDonalds or Wendy s, it is
the job of that front cashier to serve the customers as they enter into the building. If you are new and
just walk in from the streets, you will not be able to stand behind the counter and serve without
knowing the policy or the expectations from that company. For example, when going to Chick Fila,
for a while they were the only restaurant that will end their services with the statement, it was a
pleasure serving you or it was my pleasure . After leaving, I felt that I was not a burden to them or that
they enjoyed their job. So every time I go, I automatically expect to hear that phrase at the end. Now,
what if someone new walked in not knowing that was something they tell their customers. They could
change the entire atmosphere on how they serve and it would be noticed. Training, workshops,
meetings allow employees to stay up to date with the owner s policy. It allows them to remain in the
vision of the company. The same with you as a minister or preacher, you have to maintain your
relationship with God through prayer, fasting, studying and more in order to remain confident that you
are exactly where God wants you to be. Not only that, but to evaluate if you are becoming more of a
people pleaser or are you still a God pleaser . Don t feel bad if that is the case, because we have all

Essay about A Greater Intelligence Revealed in Dwellings
A Greater Intelligence Revealed in Dwellings
Linda Hogan writes in her preface to Dwellings that there is a terrestrial intelligence that lies beyond
our human knowing and grasping. This is the main point that is constantly reiterated throughout the
book, and this is the point that makes the book so important.
The trouble with the earth today is that humans have become too smart; so smart that they question
everything they once took for granted, and being unable to explain it, discount it as unreal. Science,
the very thing that has catapulted us into our present state of greatness, is also the human evil that has
isolated us from everything we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider even our connotations with the word environment. Today, the word means nature, the wild,
the earth, our failing ecosystem. Is this really our environment? We are so removed from it that most
people cannot stand to be in it, except to view its anomalies like those at Yellowstone from isolation
tank like recreational vehicles.
Hogan takes things that happen in the human sphere and turns them inside out, showing us the
sociological innards that expose the enormous distance between what we know and what we think we
know. Her example of chimpanzees shows us something scientists have been trying to hide. In
teaching them sign language, we realize they have feelings, opinions, and know what s going on
around them. They aren t just like ignorant babies with an instinct to eat and mate. People frequently
make exceptions for their dogs. They believe their dogs understand what they tell them, that their dogs
care what kind of dog food they get, that they feel jealousy when the cat gets attention. Imagine if
people felt this kind of empathy and respect to every species on the planet. Hogan deliberately picks
out animals that are displeasing to most people, bats, snakes, wolves, maggots, ants, and writes about
them as living, loving animals just like the rest of us. They are aware of the process that we have long
forgotten.
I was thinking about birds the other day. There were several of them feeding at my bird

Saturday Value Play Analysis
Eight games are are back in action this Saturday in the NBA. Today s slate provides a solid mix of
high scoring totals and key defensive matchups for us to target and exploit in our DFS lineups. Let s
take a look at today s value plays. Saturday Value Plays Point Guard John Wall vs NYK, $9,900: Wall
is in this midst of one his most productive stretches of this season, having double doubled in six of the
past seven games. The matchup today against the Knicks is about as good as it gets, with Jose
Calderon performing as one of the worst defending point guards in the NBA. New York ranks in the
bottom five in FanDuel points allowed to opposing point guards over the past three weeks. Wall has a
great chance to earn his third straight triple double today at home. Shelvin Mack @ CHI, $6,200: Over

Similarities Between Midaq Alley And The Yacoubian Building
In the novels Midaq Alley and The Yacoubian Building, we are shown the ongoing, daily struggles of
the working poor in both colonial and postcolonial Egypt. Both share central, overarching themes such
as debauchery, desperation, and unstable political situations. The two settings are both examples of
microcosms, cities within a city . Midaq Alley is a small, dead end neighborhood in 1940 s Cairo that
consists of various shops and apartments. Within each of these buildings are characters that live
completely separate lives but all have the same aspirations, to experience the world outside and the
wealth it has. The Yacoubian Building is also set in Cairo during the turbulent 1990 s. Similarly, the
characters were all tenants of a large apartment building, living in cramped and decrepit spaces.
Promiscuity played a large role for multiple characters in both novels. Jealousy, infidelity, and
homosexuality are all depicted openly and all have central parts in the separate stories. Midaq Alley
introduced us to the character Hamida, an impoverished young woman who is desperate to find a
partner who is financially stable. As she explored a relationship with Abbas, another prominent figure
was also trying to flatter her. Knowing that she sought someone with money, Salim Alwan, an older,
wealthy businessman with voracious sexual desires had an intense lust for Hamida. A character who
was in a similar situation to Hamida is Busayna from The Yacoubian Building. While she was trying

Arsenic Contamination Essay
Introduction
Beside the natural activities, almost all human activities also have potential contribution to Arsenic
contamination in the environment as side effects occurs in many parts of the world and is a global
problem. In many areas As level has crossed the safe threshold level. Large scale groundwater
pollution by geogenic arsenic (As) in West Bengal and Bangladesh has recently promoted this element
into an environmental pollutant of prime concern. Epidemiological studies have documented various
adverse effects on the human population. Arsenic contaminated soils, sediments, and sludge are the
major sources of arsenic contamination of the food chain, surface water, groundwater, and drinking
water (WT Frankenberger Arshad, 2002). Other potential sources of arsenic contamination are the
chemicals used extensively in agriculture as pesticides, insecticides, defoliants, wood preservatives,
and soil sterilants (AZCUE NRIAGU, 1994). Currently available techniques for the remediation of As
contaminated soil are very expensive and time consuming, often hazardous to workers, and capable of
producing secondary wastes (LOMBI, ZHAO, DUNHAM, MCGRATH, 2000). Phytoextraction, the
use of green plants to clean up contaminated soil, has attracted attention as an environmentally
friendly, low input remediation technique. It uses plants that extract heavy metals from the soil and
accumulate it in the harvestable, above ground biomass.

Railroad Tunnel Research Paper
Through the black train exhaust smoke pouring out of a large hole at the bottom of the Hoosac
Mountain Range, the date of 1877 slowly appears at the top of the East Portal facade of the Hoosac
Tunnel. The hard work and determination of engineers and workers resulted in the creation of an
American symbol for technological advancement in tunneling. The railroad tunnel passes through the
towns of North Adams and Florida, Massachusetts, stretching 4.75 miles. The construction began in
1854 but after suffering many setbacks, the tunnel was finished and finally approved for train service
in 1875. Throughout the twenty five years, technology drastically improved from the very beginning

The technological progression is astounding since the tools, resources, and knowledge of mountain

within the states of Germany, then a Frenchman living in England invented a tunnel shield, and an
American discovered the resourcefulness of using compressed air to prevent water from going into
tunnels that were being dug underground. As mining and tunneling progressed, the industrial need for
developing efficient tools and processes continued to grow as outdated processes continuously failed.
The Hoosac Tunnel was no exception, but because of the magnitude of the project it generated a lot of
interest which resulted in innovation and many experimental machines were created with a goal in

Essay On Denmark Vs America
A country s success revolves around its government. If a dictator rules a country, usually the people
are impoverished, hungry and/or unaware of what s happening in the world. For example, a dictator
otherwise known as Kim Jong Un is ruling North Korea right now. Kim Jong Un is lying to his people
and taking all their money (Conservapedia). On the other hand, if the government of a country is too
liberal and has barely any rules then there will be chaos. But, if a group of leaders that the people can
vote for, governs a country and that country has a constitution, people are happier. The happiest
country in the world is considered to be Denmark because of their government. Denmark differs from
America in a few main ways, especially their government and their general attitudes.
Denmark s and the United States governments are ordered and organized in different ways that have
some similarities. Denmark is a monarchy with a constitution, whereas the United States is a
constitutional democracy. They both have a constitution, but Queen Margrethe II and parliament rule
Denmark and they share control over the legislative authority, but executive power rests with the
Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen (CultureGrams). In the United States, legislative power rests
with Congress while President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and the Cabinet have
executive power (House.gov). The queen or king ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Punishment Should Be Legal Punishment
There are several rights that each person in the world have. These rights are not a gifts from anybody,
but they are inherent rights that people obtain as a human being, such as the right to life and the right
of liberty..etc. These fundamental rights are protected by the law and the state of the country in order
to maintain the society system. People usually express these rights without limitation or control,
unless exercise these rights encroached on others rights or breached the rules that the government has

The Child Labor Art of Lewis Hine
With this paper I intend to explore specific photographs taken by Lewis Hine. The photos will deal
with the child labor problem that was brought to light in the nineteenth century, partially through the
efforts of Hine. There are over 5,100 images, mostly accredited to Hine, in the Library of Congress
database and I will focus on 3 of them. More specifically, those taken in my home city and state,
Indianapolis, Indiana. My questions to address with this paper will include, who is Hine and what I his
background? How did he get started in documenting child labor? What role did Hine play in creating
laws to protect children from child labor? But first let s explore the question, what exactly was the

In the end, young women, and adult immigrants, would end up replacing children in the textile
industry but, unfortunately, child labor remained in other industries.
Education activists of the mid nineteenth century swayed many, that an education was necessary for
both an individual s own well being, as well as the development of the country. In response, some
states set a minimum wage and required children to attend basic schooling. Unfortunately, these
changes did little to make a difference as they were full of loopholes and were loosely imposed. On
top of that, the number of immigrants flooding the country afforded a new group of child workers. The
immigrants came from rural areas and had the same outlook on child labor as Americans of the time
did.
At nearly the same time there came about a large expansion in industries that created more jobs which
were suitable for children; the Industrial Revolution. Because of these two happenings, there was a
rise in the percentage of children ten to fourteen years of age who were actively working instead of
attending school.
Since around the turn of the century there has been efforts to regulate and/or eliminate child labor. The
forerunner of this effort was the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC), that was created in 1904
who, along with many state level child labor committees, sought to bring child labor under scrutiny.
They forged the practice of political group movements and activities, leading edge

The Importance Of Fairytales
Reading fairytales for a better growth to our youngest ones
A mother, an older sibling, an auntie, an uncle, a father, which one are you? Having a youngest one in
your family also carries with eminent responsibility behind it. You might find yourself in a situation
where you want them to grow up in a healthy environment. A healthy environment consists on a free
of violence mind. Children will most likely try to mimic or imitate what they observe, and it s
important to taught them the good rather than violent acts we see on TV, movies, and fairytales.
Although these characteristics aren t at a hundred percent responsibility on fairytales since a lot of
these values are thought from parents, most of the time children relies on the things they watch or
read, and for how less it seems it can make an impact on them. There s also multiple variants of this
magical story, however Charles Perrault s author of the French version of Cinderella offers a free of
violence narrative perfect for children and families to read together.
Firstly, Perrault s version is not only the best suitable for our youngest ones to read, but a very
entertaining one. Perrault s version it s violence free, but it keeps the magic of the story into
consistency. At a very young age, children will most likely try to mimic or imitate characteristics they
see on the people that surrounds them, shows they watch, and stories they re told. A Cinderella story is
not the exception for this. Any type of violence, for

Research Paper On Why Military Service Should Be Mandatory
Military Service: Should It Be Mandatory? Fighting for the homeland means fighting for freedom, but
how can men defend their country against enemies if they lack of the ability to fight? Conscription is
strategy that utilized by nations to assemble a large and powerful military, prepared to be deployed in

Most people maintain that serving the community should be voluntary, and each individual has the
absolute freedom to join or not to join the military service. However, it is argued that military service
builds individual personality and improves his skills in combat and defense, so there is no rational
reason not to make conscription mandatory. A person s character changed for the better during his
service in the military. To begin with, mandatory service teaches the person self discipline. Michael
Anthony, an author who served in US army, writes in his article, What the Military Teaches About Self
Discipline, that discipline must be ground into conscript. He needs to gain physical strength,
perseverance, knowledge, and courage, n.d. When an individual joins the military service, he forces to

Feminism In Sesame Street
Sesame Workshop s decision to incorporate a transgender Muppet on the show mirrors the gradual
changes that have progressively taken place within the framework of feminism. The Eastern Kentucky
University Women and Gender Studies Program defined the evolution of feminism as: Historically,
feminism has evolved from the critical examination of inequality between the sexes with a more
nuanced focus on the social and performative constructions of gender and sexuality (2017). In other
words, the feminist establishment has transformed along with time to reflect the changes in society.
Which perfectly makes sense! In order, for progress to occur, you must move along with the times,
and Sesame Street has done that. Thus, the show will continue to positively influence hundreds of
American youth because they know that social evolution is the key to success!
Similarly, Sesame Street touches on the complexities surrounding race. Segi is a black, female Muppet
who made her debut in Season 42. This progression can be viewed as positive as it was a racially
diversifying move. However, the character was not given a name until Season 45 (Muppet Wiki 2017).
Therefore, I find the addition of the character to be an important aspect supporting racial equality, but
the fact that she remained unnamed for three seasons seems to be rather counterproductive.
Eventually, Sesame Workshop named Segi after Joey Mazzarino s adopted daughter, for whom
Mazzarino wrote: I Love My Hair (Muppet Wiki 2017).

Massachusetts Calvin Coolidge In The 1920 s
The first quarter of twentieth century America was the height of labor reform and mass striking. Many
people associate industrial striking with laborers such as miners and factory workers, but even higher
level jobs were covered by the looming veil of rebellion and reform. September of 1919 was a violent
and chaotic time for the city of Boston, as the local police force stood aside to let criminals and rioters
do the heavy lifting towards a better working standard. While the police force did not quite get what
they desired, it put then governor of Massachusetts Calvin Coolidge in the national spotlight.

Kant On Euthanasia
Philosophy 1610
22 April 2013
Euthanasia or Just Plain Murder:
The Mercy Death/Killing Debate
Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in order to release an individual from unbearable suffering
or an incurable disease. Euthanasia the word is derived from Ancient Greek, Eu meaning good and
Thantos meaning Death and when combined the term means Good Death . Mercy Death by definition
is taking a direct action to terminate a person s life because the person has requested to do so. This
also includes physician assisted suicide, not to be confused with suicide which is the taking of one s
life by one s own hand without assistance. Mercy Killing is also a term used and it refers to someone
taking a direct action to terminate a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since we ve established that Kant is strongly against euthanasia; at least active euthanasia. We can
now discuss the arguments of Thiroux in relativity to this debate. Active euthanasia, it is in direct
violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life usually means
killing an innocent person. This is unlike the defense of an innocent, war or capital punishment. It can
also be open to the domino argument, which essentially argues if human beings allow one thing to be
declared legal or moral; this could cause a multitude of others bad things to follow. The church also
have the argument over religious practices and means that God gave us life as a gift, so why should
we have the right to take it away again? The religious aspect has many different reasons for being
against euthanasia but all religions stem from the belief of a higher power or being giving us the gift
of life. There are also other available options as in possibly of finding a cure or using hospice as an
alternative. So in result Immanuel Kant has his own ethical theory and arguments revolving around
the taking of one s life via euthanasia, therefore many arguments or debates can be given to defend the
right not to take another individuals life based on one s own ethical views.
A second ethical theory that can be raised is what stance does Utilitarianism takes on the debate of
euthanasia. A brief definition of Utilitarianism is

where FNB was administered in both groups were included; and RCTs examining surgical anesthesia
and/or postoperative analgesia were considered. We excluded studies if analgesic outcomes (at least
analgesic consumption or pain scores) were not reported; if distal SNB was performed; if the analgesic
effect of SNB could not be assessed in isolation from other concurrent analgesic interventions, such as
local anaesthetic wound infiltration, intra articular injection, or epidural anesthesia; if surgeries
involved anatomical areas other than the knee joint, such as the ankle; if knee procedures did not
involve arthroplasty, such as cruciate ligament repair; or, if adjuvants other than epinephrine were

The Union Of The European Union
Brexiters are desperate and angry with everything and everyone that suggests that the British people
should vote to remain in the European Union in the 23 June 2016 referendum. The recent victim of
their desperation and ire has been no less a personage than the US President Barrack Obama himself.
President Obama was in London recently to wish the Queen her happy 90th birthday and help Prime
Minister David Cameron win the referendum in which the British people will vote whether they want
to remain in the EU or leave. The Leave campaigners have sought to create a bubble that Britain
outside the EU will be a prosperous paradise at the center of the universe, free from pesky European
countries. But Obama punctured their bubble by announcing that Britain outside the EU will be less
powerful, less secure, and less prosperous, and it will have to wait for five to 10 years to sign a trade
agreement with the United States. That was shattering for the Leave campaign. Boris Johnson, the
leader of the Leave campaign and mayor of London, was so angry that he descended into the
invective. He said President Obama had anti colonial mindset obtained from his Kenyan father.
Although the reference was made to the removal of British Prime Minister Churchill s from the Oval

has been on the rise, especially after the latest opinion polls have given a slight edge to the Remain
campaign over

The Political Party At The Democratic Party
Internet Assignment
Political Party Research:
1. I am attracted to the Democratic Party. I took the political party quiz and answered the questions as
honestly as I could. I found the questions to be very interesting and versatile. After viewing my results
I looked into The Green Party some more. I am basically an environmentalist and believe taxes are
affecting the lower classes and something needs to be done about it. I agreed with all of these issues.
2. The top 5 issues are jobs, families, health, education and infrastructure. These have been goals of
the Democratic Party for many years. I believe these are interesting goals and also ones I believe have
issues. There s plenty of room for improvement when it comes to securing family funds, giving jobs to
everyone who qualifies for them, and improving the education we give to our young citizens.
3. When it comes to jobs, the Democratic Party has worked with President Obama to stabilize the
financial system and help prevent a second degree depression. Since the recession 15 million private
sector jobs have become available and the unemployment rate has dropped 5% for the first time in the
last decade. The Democratic Party has also helped expand public options when it comes to education.
They decided they were going to pay teachers like any other professional and thought about rebuilding
schools. They also hired 100,000 more teachers to reduce class sizes and provide students with a
better way of learning. They have fought

  • 2. Kid Kustomer Essay Kid Kustomers No matter where children are or what they are doing they ll always find some sort of advertisements. It can be when their casually watching television, reading a magazine or just playing games on their computer. Advertisements are different forms of communication whose purpose is to make their product known to the public. Marketers aren t partial to certain people; they target anyone and every age group, but recently there has been an upsurge of advertisements aimed towards children. In Eric Schlosser s article, Kid Kustomers, he demonstrates how child advertising has boomed by the tactics marketers use to get children to want and demand certain companies products. The big boom in child advertisement occurred in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schlosser refers to the Joe Camel ad campaign, which used a hip cartoon character to sell cigarettes. A 1991 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that nearly all of America s six year olds could identify Joe Camel, who was just as familiar to them as Mickey Mouse. Interestingly enough, another study found that one third of cigarettes illegally sold to minors was in fact Camels. Not only do advertisers need a way to get kids to want their product, they also need children to be able to persuade their parents into buying them that product. The concept of children persuading other people to buy them what they want is known as the surrogate salesmen. James U. McNeal s, professor of marketing at Texas A M University, classified kids nagging tactics into seven major categories; pleading, persistent, forceful, demonstrative, sugar coated, threatening, and pity based appeals. Kids learn what appeal or style works best on their parents and stick to that ploy whenever they want something. Observing children in their own environment allows marketers to understand the minds of children. Advertisers conduct surveys, organize focus groups, analyze children s artwork, study academic literature on child development and even have cultural anthropologists observe children without them knowing. Marketers do all that research so they can get a grasp on what children are most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Report On The s Performance Indicators, Current Status... Company Reports One of the first reports used is the Company Dashboard Report. This is a visual report displaying key performance indicators, current status of metrics, and can be tailored for a department s metrics or the overall company metrics. The dashboard provides data for a specific measure of time (Rouse, 2016) versus a Scorecard, which provides it for a period of time. It is an important tool for any business looking for departmental information. The information from this report comes from within the company and provides a snapshot of where the company stands. The PharmaSim dashboard shows a snapshot of the overview of the company that includes revenue, gross margin, net income, and stock price. It also has a bar chart based on the department s metrics. In this case, Allround s performance is shown (Performance Summary Period 1, 2016). The last portion of the dashboard includes customer comments from social media. • 10. The Role of Central Fatigue in Resistance and Endurance... What is central fatigue? Neuromuscular fatigue can be defined as a decline in performance that is usually determined by power generation capacity. During a static maximal contraction, force will decrease steadily and fatigue would be observed from the beginning of the exercise. Contrarily, in submaximal contractions, the target force is maintained for a long time. In this situation, the fatigue is defined as the inability in maintaining the force, even if the capacity of maximal force generation is impaired earlier during contraction. Neuromuscular fatigue is usually defined as a reduction of the capacity of maximal force generation [1]. Velstad (1997), defined neuromuscular fatigue as any exercise induced reduction in the maximal capacity of force generation or output force. This definition allows us to define fatigue in different sports and various intensities. Moreover, there must be a distinction between the muscle weakness as a chronic disorder in force generation or output force and the acute effect of neuromuscular fatigue. So, it seems that neuromuscular fatigue develops differently depending on the muscle activity [5]. Fatigue was traditionally related to the metabolic occurrence of ending point during the exercise in which glycogen concentration of the muscle was depleted completely [6]. Furthermore, cardiovascular [7, 8] and metabolic load, and temperature adjustment are likely peripheral candidates for the fatigue outbreak during long exercises [9]. Sites of ... During the medieval era, a golden age of innovations in science took part in the Islamic world. In particular cities in the Iberian Peninsula, like Cordoba, astronomy blossomed and thrived as an aftermath of the genius and creativity that took place there. Innovations in astronomy were vital in inspiring the other scientific discoveries, and were greatly encouraged by the religious groups during the time. In the Oxford Encyclopedia of the Islamic World, S. The trouble with the earth today is that humans have become too smart; so smart that they question everything they once took for granted, and being unable to explain it, discount it as unreal. • 26. Similarities Between Midaq Alley And The Yacoubian Building In the novels Midaq Alley and The Yacoubian Building, we are shown the ongoing, daily struggles of the working poor in both colonial and postcolonial Egypt. Both share central, overarching themes such as debauchery, desperation, and unstable political situations. The two settings are both examples of microcosms, cities within a city . Midaq Alley is a small, dead end neighborhood in 1940 s Cairo that consists of various shops and apartments. Within each of these buildings are characters that live completely separate lives but all have the same aspirations, to experience the world outside and the wealth it has. The Yacoubian Building is also set in Cairo during the turbulent 1990 s. Similarly, the characters were all tenants of a large apartment building, living in cramped and decrepit spaces. Promiscuity played a large role for multiple characters in both novels. Jealousy, infidelity, and homosexuality are all depicted openly and all have central parts in the separate stories. Midaq Alley introduced us to the character Hamida, an impoverished young woman who is desperate to find a partner who is financially stable. As she explored a relationship with Abbas, another prominent figure was also trying to flatter her. Knowing that she sought someone with money, Salim Alwan, an older, wealthy businessman with voracious sexual desires had an intense lust for Hamida. In many areas As level has crossed the safe threshold level. Large scale groundwater pollution by geogenic arsenic (As) in West Bengal and Bangladesh has recently promoted this element into an environmental pollutant of prime concern. Epidemiological studies have documented various adverse effects on the human population. Arsenic contaminated soils, sediments, and sludge are the major sources of arsenic contamination of the food chain, surface water, groundwater, and drinking water (WT Frankenberger Arshad, 2002). Other potential sources of arsenic contamination are the chemicals used extensively in agriculture as pesticides, insecticides, defoliants, wood preservatives, and soil sterilants (AZCUE NRIAGU, 1994). Currently available techniques for the remediation of As contaminated soil are very expensive and time consuming, often hazardous to workers, and capable of producing secondary wastes (LOMBI, ZHAO, DUNHAM, MCGRATH, 2000). Phytoextraction, the use of green plants to clean up contaminated soil, has attracted attention as an environmentally friendly, low input remediation technique. It uses plants that extract heavy metals from the soil and accumulate it in the harvestable, above ground biomass. Several comprehensive reviews on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Essay On Denmark Vs America A country s success revolves around its government. If a dictator rules a country, usually the people are impoverished, hungry and/or unaware of what s happening in the world. For example, a dictator otherwise known as Kim Jong Un is ruling North Korea right now. Kim Jong Un is lying to his people and taking all their money (Conservapedia). On the other hand, if the government of a country is too liberal and has barely any rules then there will be chaos. But, if a group of leaders that the people can vote for, governs a country and that country has a constitution, people are happier. The happiest country in the world is considered to be Denmark because of their government. Denmark differs from America in a few main ways, especially their government and their general attitudes. Denmark s and the United States governments are ordered and organized in different ways that have some similarities. Denmark is a monarchy with a constitution, whereas the United States is a constitutional democracy. They both have a constitution, but Queen Margrethe II and parliament rule Denmark and they share control over the legislative authority, but executive power rests with the Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen (CultureGrams). In the end, young women, and adult immigrants, would end up replacing children in the textile industry but, unfortunately, child labor remained in other industries. Education activists of the mid nineteenth century swayed many, that an education was necessary for both an individual s own well being, as well as the development of the country. In response, some states set a minimum wage and required children to attend basic schooling. Unfortunately, these changes did little to make a difference as they were full of loopholes and were loosely imposed. On top of that, the number of immigrants flooding the country afforded a new group of child workers. The immigrants came from rural areas and had the same outlook on child labor as Americans of the time did. At nearly the same time there came about a large expansion in industries that created more jobs which were suitable for children; the Industrial Revolution. Because of these two happenings, there was a rise in the percentage of children ten to fourteen years of age who were actively working instead of attending school. Since around the turn of the century there has been efforts to regulate and/or eliminate child labor. • 34. Feminism In Sesame Street Sesame Workshop s decision to incorporate a transgender Muppet on the show mirrors the gradual changes that have progressively taken place within the framework of feminism. The Eastern Kentucky University Women and Gender Studies Program defined the evolution of feminism as: Historically, feminism has evolved from the critical examination of inequality between the sexes with a more nuanced focus on the social and performative constructions of gender and sexuality (2017). In other words, the feminist establishment has transformed along with time to reflect the changes in society. Which perfectly makes sense! In order, for progress to occur, you must move along with the times, and Sesame Street has done that. Thus, the show will continue to positively influence hundreds of American youth because they know that social evolution is the key to success! Similarly, Sesame Street touches on the complexities surrounding race. Segi is a black, female Muppet who made her debut in Season 42. This progression can be viewed as positive as it was a racially diversifying move. However, the character was not given a name until Season 45 (Muppet Wiki 2017). Therefore, I find the addition of the character to be an important aspect supporting racial equality, but the fact that she remained unnamed for three seasons seems to be rather counterproductive. Active euthanasia, it is in direct violation of the value of life principle. This means that the involvement of taking a life usually means killing an innocent person. This is unlike the defense of an innocent, war or capital punishment. It can also be open to the domino argument, which essentially argues if human beings allow one thing to be declared legal or moral; this could cause a multitude of others bad things to follow. The church also have the argument over religious practices and means that God gave us life as a gift, so why should we have the right to take it away again?
