Personal Narrative-Poudre For The River In Colorado
Today will be different. Morning rain softens, and hope rises. I must capture the entire hazy brown
form before it fades. Arms around me tighten, tease, but I break free. This is for him. He hands me a
mug, and I turn away. He said the essay should be about her. Her name is Poudre, for the river in
Colorado where we first met. The name refers to a cache of gunpowder hidden along its banks, but to
us it just means clear water over stone. Each day begins with a ritual: She shakes her head and jingles
her collar as I reach for the railing. Descending, I hear a clicking little dance below. Her breath is
heavy and I open the front door. She leaps out into the garden, I tell her to stay with me today, but she
is already gone. Out of sight, she is galloping down the lane. She is our heart: blood up, out of hand,
out ahead. I walk on slowly, looking for the first pure light of morning. She waits for me there, and I
check on the flowers. Soon, I tell her it is time to go. She turns, picks up the paper, and trots slowly
now, back towards the house. I smile and sigh and follow her back. Through the front door, she heads
straight for his waiting feet. She plops the paper down proudly and turns to me. Now it is time for
breakfast. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jeff stepped out of the car doubtfully on that first day. The face was plain, green, and colonial, and the
garage held only one car. This was hardly the house of his dreams. The boys, however, did not
hesitate. Slamming doors, they ran across the yard and began playing among the six stately columns
of a giant poplar tree. Before long, weekends and vacations were spent cutting limbs and vines and
pulling holly stumps. Now there is an endless play of light and shade. The breeze lifts, leaves dance,
treetops sway, and I can

Women And Female Characters In Homer s Medea
Another of Greco Roman mythology s strongest and most prominent female characters is Medea.
Throughout her different iterations, Medea is shown to be closely associated with the female ability to
give and withhold life. First of all, she was a disciple of Hecate who, aside from being the goddess of
the moon, witchcraft, and crossroads (Brooks, Lesson 12: Perseus and Demeter), is described in
Hesiod s Theogony as a nurse of the young (455) and having the ability to increase[e] stock in a pen
[...] if she wills in her heart she can multiply them or make them diminish (446 449). Consistent with
Hecate s abilities, Medea s plot against Pelias, described in Ovid s Metamorphoses, revolves around
her ability to give life by return[ing] the vigor and bloom of youth (7.215). Additionally, in Euripides
Medea, she tells King Aigeus that she will put an end to [his] childlessness (716) and help him beget
heirs of [his] blood (717) in order to ensure that Athens will grant her asylum after executing her
revenge on Jason (679 758). Overall, Medea is shown to be a woman with great control over life.
However, she does not only grant it, she also exercises her ability to take it away. Medea kills her own
children as a part of her plan to take revenge on Jason, stating that if die they must, I shall slay them,
who gave them birth (Euripides 63). She also kills Creon s daughter, stating that never shall [Jason]
beget children by his new bride (Euripides, Medea 803 804), which results in a complete loss of all his
current and potential heirs. Ultimately, the play ends with Medea escaping without punishment for her
actions, and this fact seems to affirm a mother s rights over the life they have given. A similar situation
can be found in Ovid s Metamorphoses, where Procne kills her son and serves him to her husband,
Tereus, for dinner as retribution for the rape and mutilation of her sister (6.620 674). It is a particularly
fitting punishment as it violates Tereus body in a similar manner, by forcing him to contain something
unwanted, and allows Procne and Philomela to retake the control that was stolen from them. Not only
do both mothers kill their children the one thing they have an inherent right to control

The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Northern Ireland
The Israeli Palestinian conflict and the Northern Ireland case had many similar elements in conflict
drivers and elements that gave rise to conflict; however ,the two cases also had differing salient points.
The Israelis were a diasporic community while the Ulsters in Northern Ireland were a minority group
living on their own land. The Palestinian and Israeli saw each other as more of a threat than the
unionist and nationalists saw each other in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland crisis did not
threaten the existence of England while the PLO had motive to destroy Israel. These were some of the
several differing factors that accounted for this variation in outcome; however the main issue was
threat and incentive. The actors in the Good Friday Agreement had more incentive, or less threat in
accepting the agreement. Actors in the Oslo negotiations believed that was more threat for Israel
Palestine to integrate. Also, there were significant gaps in goals and incentives they had. An attempt to
understand the failure of the Oslo process can be explained with a Realist lens. The Oslo agreements
are inherently Liberal agreements, focusing on collective security and the possibility of cooperation
and interdependence. However, under the Realist framing, the conditions in the Israel Palestine
context was not viable for the construction of a Liberal peace. Since in Realist terms, perceived threat
came from other actors If the if practical interests [of actors were] incompatible,

Comparison Of Howl And Song Of Myself
Howl by Ginsberg and Song of Myself by Whitman, have different and similar variances on the take
of the world. Howl is more technical and gets straight to the point of the world whereas Song of
Myself starts off with a happier side of the world. Whitman describes world as heaven and Ginsberg
describes live as dark and evil. Where Whitman is less harsh and Ginsberg is very harsh. Also,
Ginsberg uses a raw language to describe the world in a deeper perspective. In Song of Myself ,
Whitman describes the world as a hopeful place in which a lot can be done. He states, The atmosphere
is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation, it is odorless, It is for my mouth forever, I am in
love with it, I will go to the bank by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Whitman says, The youngster and the red faced girl turn aside up the bushy hill; I peeringly
view them from the top. The suicide sprawls on the bloody floor of the bed room; I witness the corpse
with its dabbled hair I note where the pistol has fallen (lines 150 153), Ginsberg replies with, who
created great suicidal dramas on the apartment cliff banks of the Hudson under the wartime blue
floodlight of the moon their heads shall be crowned with laurel in oblivion (line 46). These two quotes
stand out and seem that they are replying to one other. In lines 150 168 in Song of Myself , he
discussed that he has been through many experience in one, which is horrifying as children
committing suicide. Ginsberg replies to this as if they have committed suicide they should be honored
and given the status of a hero for such bravery. Ginsberg way of discussing suicide is more intense
than Whitman s. Ginsberg definition of suicide is the resort of pain and suffering and that leads to
being honored because it takes a lot of will to go through the agony. Whitman see s the suffering but
ignores it because it s a part of how the world is and he cannot be judgmental of whom ever is suicidal
because he accepts that the world consists of life and

day I didn t do much but I had no idea what soon would happen. It was later that day when I was
getting ready for bed. That morning I woke up not knowing what was happening. It was a few hours
later when my dad got home from work and told us that the US had declared war on Germany. He said
that his boss had gotten a call from his friend in Washington. He said that the president had gave a
speech to congress. I was surprised the US had stayed neutral for a long time.
It was a couple months later since the US declared war on Germany. The US had sent 200,000 soldiers

Personification In Their Eyes Were Watching God
In the excerpt Their Eyes Were Watching God , the author, Zora Neale Hurtson, uses a variety of
rhetorical devices to highlight Janies feelings toward an arrange marriage. As a result, the author
begins the excerpt with personification. She had been spending every minute that she could steal from
her chores under that tree for the last three days. It is impossible to physically steal from chores. The
authors purpose is to highlight that Janie has things to do, like chores, but decide, to do nothing for 3

A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay
As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The
individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If there
was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police records
and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with the
research study being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the
stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from
official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves
Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34).
Sample
When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us with
the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was in mind
(Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained their
participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex trafficking.
The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between 1990 2011
(Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). After reading the who research study I do feel that the
sample size was effective and it gave the results that the researchers were looking for. The authors did
not offer any justification for the sample size that was selected.

Potential Benefits Of Social Media
Potential Benefits of Social Media Mentioning the phrase social media brings to mind the elephant in
the room known as Facebook. Those opposed to entering this world tend to single out the negative
aspects of it and use them as excuses not to join. Merriam Webster interprets social media as forms of
electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas,
personal messages, and other content (as videos) ( social media ). Nowhere in that definition does it
suggest that only one platform exists. That being said, a great deal of good can, and does, emerge from
a multitude of such forums. Human interactions are increasingly occurring in virtual settings; non
participants stubbornly fight the inevitable as its versatility and convenience are too tough to resist.
Although traditional school settings are still effective means of education, knowledge is certainly not
restricted to the four walls of a classroom. Learning institutions, and parents alike, can barely afford to
hire qualified tutors. Khan Academy, whose mission is to provide a free, world class education for
anyone, anywhere ( mission statement ), aims to remedy said complications. Basic tasks, such as
ordering meals and asking directions, in a foreign country quickly become challenging without some
type of fundamental capacity for the regional tongue. Visiting travelers are, undoubtedly, more well
received by local residents when efforts are made to communicate

Saint Augustine, one of the best scholars of the early church, portrayed the Trinity as practically
identical to the three sections of an individual: personality, soul, and will. They are three unmistakable
viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose
of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the
Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea
325.
In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father,
in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the
precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making
of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very
God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father.
The Council of Nicea occurred by request of the Roman Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantine. Nicea
was situated in Asia Minor, east of Constantinople. At the Council of Nicea, Emperor Constantine

The Opportunities and Obstacles of the voter registration laws
States that have implemented voter registration laws claim that those laws are put into place to prevent
voter fraud and safeguard the voting system (Underhill, 2015).
Conversely, adversaries to voter registration laws, namely the civil rights movement, contest that voter
registration laws impinge on the rights of voting citizens (Underhill, 2015). Furthermore, opponents
disagree with the aforementioned voting system transparency but actually overpowers votes of the
majority and takes away from minority voters, specifically, the Black community. This is

Gender Inequality In The Media
Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across our television
screens, constantly crop up in our daily conversations, and dominate the news and media. But wait,
there s something missing from the list of names above a group constituting nearly 51% of our
population women( Women s Health USA 2012. ). Scarce are mentions of successful female
journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news channels.
Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most in fact,
despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn t hit me until recently that women were so
blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such an
obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the
media defies not only our principles, but also the nation s principles. How can we claim that we are a
nation of equal opportunity if we don t practice what we preach? We must encourage women to
increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering the
most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between
the sexes.
The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects the shunning of women into petty,
less important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in leadership in media. According to a report

The Importance Of Desire For Power In Watership Down
Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength,
mastering yourself is true power, says Lao Tzu. The rabbits in Watership Down that are aspiring
leaders deal with a constant battle that relates perfectly to Lao Tzu s quote. Some gain power through
their stature, others through their wit, but the truly effective leaders use the ideal attributes both from
themselves and the rabbits they are leading. The desire for power in this novel is exhibited through the
aspiring leaders Threarah and Woundwort, that lead in their own best interest, and Hazel, who leads in
the best interest of his community
The desire for power in this novel is exhibited through the aspiring leaders Threarah and Woundwort
that lead in their own best interest. The first chief rabbit the reader encounters goes by the name of
Threarah. He is the leader of the Sandleford warren in which Hazel and his friends populate. When
Fiver, Hazel s younger brother, has a vision about the warren being attacked, he immediately sets out
to tell Threarah. After Fiver and Hazel finally reach the distanced Threarah, he ignores them. Threarah
scolds them for interrupting his sleep and his patience. This decision is important in displaying the
desire for power in Threarah; he knows that if he listens to Fiver he could lose everything. The task of
moving the entire warren would not only take mounds of time and effort, but the decision would also
be Threarah s. Consequently, this

The Importance Of Life In Victorian London
Victorian London was a charnel house of the dead; a city oozing horror and nowhere more so than a
small chapel where they danced on the dead.
By 1842 London was the modern mega city of the world. For some of her 2.5 million inhabitants it
was an exciting, fashionable and thriving metropolis. For many it was a city of squalor, decay,
epidemics and early death and the disposal of the dead was becoming an increasing problem for the
living.
London s population had exploded but the authorities did not plan for the increasing numbers of the
dead. Burial grounds and churchyards were filled beyond capacity with coffins stacked on top of each
other in deep shafts. Open graves sat just feet from the living world. The dead lay amongst the living

Eventually campaigners, led by the sanitary reformer George Walker, took over the chapel in 1847 and
starting exhuming the dead, moving the remains to the new Norwood Cemetery. This process became
another spectacle for Londoners who gathered to stare at the pyramid of bones...exposed to view 4.
Enon Chapel was not the only place where such practices occurred, but it was the most notorious and
provided useful propaganda horror for reform campaigners such as Walker. The government finally
responded to the pressure, passing the Burial Act in 1852 that closed burial grounds in the city. It
paved the way to the development of the great Victorian cemeteries of Highgate, Nunhead and Kensal
Green.
Clements Lane has become St. Clements Lane but the chapel is long gone, demolished for
development. The present site is now home to the London School of Economics and the Law Courts.

Comparing The Genesis Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Throughout the Genesis Flood, Atrahasis Flood and the Epic of Gilgamesh flood, there are many
different ways to interpret the different views of The Flood. These different narratives in these stories
have their own explanation on how this myth took place and the different beliefs that occurred during
this flood. The way you portray each narrative is based on what exactly your beliefs are. When
comparing the Genesis Flood narrative to that of the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, there are many
similar symbols throughout both narratives. In the Genesis version of the flood, God had chosen to
send the flood because the humankind he had created was evil and he saw their wickedness. For my
par, I am going to bring a good of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which
is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die (Genesis 6:18). This excerpt from the
narrative shows that one God had chosen to send the flood to destroy all humankind that he had
originally created. Just like this narrative, the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, a God by the name of Enlil
orders a flood to destroy humankind. Decided that the great gods should make a flood (Gilgamesh XI
109). This quote states how that a flood was to be sent for the city of Shuruppak. In the Genesis
narrative there was a righteous man by the name of Noah that was chosen to build the ark. Make

Designing A Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna And L...
By using the advantages of the microstrip patch antenna and L probe feeding technique, hexagonal
patch is etched on a square microstrip antenna to achieve broad bandwidth and improved gain. In this
Project, MSA is designed with dual substrates, one for L probe other for radiating patch.
4.1 Design Specifications
The three essential parameters for the design of a rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna:
Frequency of operation (fo): The resonant frequency of the antenna must be selected appropriately.
The WLAN band uses the frequency range from 2.4 GHz to 5.28 GHZ. Hence the antenna designed
must be able to operate in this frequency range. The resonant frequency selected for design is 2.4
GHz.
Dielectric constant of the substrate (εr): The dielectric material selected for our design is FR4 which
has a dielectric constant of 4.4. A substrate with a high dielectric constant has been selected since it
reduces the dimensions of the antenna. Table 4.1: Design parameters of microstrip antenna Patch

Analysis Of The Great Gatsby
Ms.Seda Joseph Rosendo PD 5 May 3, 2016 At the end of the novel of The Great Gatsby, Nick
recounts all the things that had just occurred and says I see now that this has been a story of the West,
after all Tom and Gatsby, Daisy and Jordan and I, were all Westerners, and perhaps we possessed
some deficiency in common which made us subtly unadaptable to Eastern life. Nick says it was a
story of the West because they all had the common trait of being lured and accustomed into the
Eastern style instead of their origins in the West. The West proven to not be the preferable home of
each of these characters, as they all made the decision to move to the East. On the East, where there
was a rapid and growing dream of wealth and prosperity. Once they achieve this, they think they can
do what ever they want, after all they have gotten the classic American dream so now what is there to
achieve? Although the wealthy should hold high profile images, much trouble is caused by them as
portrayed by some of the main characters in the book. Tom, Gatsby and Daisy are each characters that
couldn t adapt to Eastern life. Each went through different fates, but all with the common deficiency
of being affected negatively by Eastern life and portray an overall story of their lives rooted from the
West. First, there is Tom Buchanan, who came from Chicago and went to college with Nick. At the

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of P2p File Sharing Systems
ABSTRACT
Peer to peer (P2P) file sharing systems are becoming increasingly popular due to their flexibility and
scalability. A peer to peer, or P2P, file transfer service allows the user to share computer files through
the Internet. Examples of P2P services include KaZaA, Grokster, Gnutella, Morpheus, and BearShare.
This document is about the peer to peer file sharing technology. It discusses about what peer to peer
technology and file sharing is. It also states the pros and cons of the peer to peer file sharing and how
Network coding is useful to overcome the disadvantages of the traditional p2p file sharing
technology, also discusses some network coding based p2p file sharing and Microsoft Avalanche.

The originating server (the seed) makes available one copy of the file, which is then split up into

The file sharing process doesn t happen in the systematic, sequential way we show here (purely for

An Hour Story
The Story of an Hour: Story Analysis The Story of an Hour is a great portrayal of how married women
felt during the 1870s. This story is a serious representation of how difficult it was to get divorced
during that time. Throughout this short story, a woman by the name of Louise Mallard rejoices at the
news of her husband s death. Due to her disappointment of seeing that her husband had not actually
passed, Mrs. Mallard dies. One might question why she was overjoyed by that upsetting news;

Medical Care Fraud And Abuse
For the most part, physicians make every effort to work ethically, deliver high quality medical care to
their patients and send relevant claims for disbursement. The general public put their trust in
physicians to do the moral thing. The patients depend on physicians to use their expertise to put them
on the road to recovery when their health is most vulnerable. The federal government and other third
party payers also rely on physician s medical decisions to treat and provide services that appropriate
for the services that rendered. When the physicians and other medical related facilities submit claims
the government expects them to submit physicians and hospitals reimbursing claims for services
provided to program recipients, the federal government relies on physicians to submit correct and
legitimate claims. The medical providers that are deceitful and exploit the health care system for
unlawful purposes have formed the need for laws that combat fraud, abuse and guarantee high quality
medical care.

Romanticism In The Romantic Period And Porphyria s Love
The Romantic age is a period where, for the first time in history, people were able to express
themselves and their feelings as they wished rather than as society dictated (Handout). This period
emphasizes humanity s spontaneous actions, passions, and emotions rather than logic or reason.
Unlike the Enlightenment era, the Romantic era essentially replaced the old way of life had been lived
with a new style of living life (Handout). Humanity s focus leaps forward into a new view of creative
imagination as a portal to transcendent experiences and spiritual truths. This deepened admiration of
all the beauties of nature is widely known as, Romanticism. Inspired by the work of eighteenth
century Enlightenment thinkers, Robert Browning and Charles Baudelaire s works of imagination is
deepened due to the Industrial and French Revolutions. Although these two poets share a twisted and
perverse perspective of love for a woman, they both have very distinctive and dark ways of making
their audience cringe.
Robert Browning, the man whose mastery of the dramatic monologue made him one of the best
Victorian poets, opens his poem Porphyria s Love with a thrilling, yet romantic tone that leaves the
reader with skeptical question. After Porphyria gets all settled from being outside in the rain storm,
she begins to remove her wet clothing. Beginning to transition into modern style, the narrator states;
Which done, she rose, and from her form Withdrew the dripping cloak and shawl,
And laid her soiled gloves by, untied
Her hat and let the damp hair fall (Browning 11 13).
Porphyria rapidly moves forward and takes her simplistic beauty to a blatantly dangerous level of
sexuality as stated;
She put my arm about her waist,
And made her smooth white shoulder bare,
And all her yellow hair displaced,
And stooping, made my cheek lie there,
And spread, o er all, her yellow hair (Browning 14 18).
The speaker does not respond verbally or physically up until this point. That is before Porphyria utters
her love for him; Murmuring how she loved me (Browning 21). Because of her immortal sin of sexual
desires, the narrators simple and innocent love evolves into an over the top, obsessive, and twisted
passion that is

Pride In Hamlet Essay
The battle between pride, an emotional force of confidence, and fate, a supernatural force that controls
every aspect of humans lives, is ongoing in every human. To live an honorable and honest life, people
must balance their pride and humility, but when pride becomes excessive, fate begins to assert power
on the person until the person meets the inevitable collapse. Thomas Hardy, in The Return of the
Native, and William Shakespeare, in The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, discuss the
controlling power of supernatural forces. In The Return of the Native, Egdon Heath controls the lives
of its inhabitants by exhibiting power over the supernatural force of fate. Clym Yeobright s excessive
pride in his ambitious endeavor causes his blindness which symbolizes his regression from the
advanced society of Paris to the primitive nature of Egdon Heath. Similarly, Eustacia Vye s pride in
what she calls passionate love (Hardy 74) causes her death as she resists her fate. In William
Shakespeare s, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Denmark s restrictive powers force
Hamlet to face a moral dilemma between pride and fate which ultimately leads to ... Show more

Clym s literal blindness is an instance of self destruction caused by his intense pride in his idealistic
goal to create a school (Howe 18). To accelerate the creation of the school, Clym reads in the dark
which causes his literal blindness. Although his pride completely blocks his rational thinking, Clym s
figurative blindness gives him insight into the reality of life: fate controls everything in the world.
Even though he understands his position in the world, it is too late for Clym to repair his mistake of
disturbing nature. His blindness forces him to abandon his idealistic plan and become a furze cutter.
Clym s blindness brought on by fate is the first step into his regression towards the primitive

Materialism In Wlf And Eadwacer
The poem Wulf and Eadwacer displays a number of typical characteristics associated with the genre of
the Old English Elegies. In this essay I aim to identify such defining characteristics and discuss why,
from Paul Muldoon s translation, Wulf and Eadwacer is in every sense an Old English Elegy. I will
examine the environment in which the poem is set, the theme of social isolation, the lif is laene motif,
the ubi sunt lamentation and the medieval concept of wyrd . I will highlight and support with
examples how each of these features are present themselves and their significance in the classification
of this poem as an Old English Elegy.
A key feature of Medieval writing is the environment in which the poem is set. This gives the ... Show

an elegy, but as Anne L. Klinck says in The Old English Elegies: A Critical Edition and Genre Study ,
Indeed, the poem s riddling quality is an essential ingredient, although it has far greater cogency as a

Paris Peace Treaties Essay
The Paris Peace Treaties
The Paris Peace Treaties (1919 1920)
IB History
To the subject and passive onlooker, those meticulous organizers of the Paris Peace Treaties allowed
for an unfortunate amount of flaws to enter their task of creating a treaty that could satisfy all of the
nations of not only Europe but of the world as well equally. Yet one must attempt to put that
passiveness behind and admit that those of the time of post World War I had truly no idea what was to
come of their decisions. Thus, the decisions of these toilers of the Paris Peace Treaties undoubtedly
made a medley of wrong judgments that were virtually unforeseen at the time. The first of these
mistakes was that they looked over the problems that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve this the Peace Treaties cut off a substantial part of Hungary to give to Romania which
obviously did not please this once powerful state). Yet it couldn t give all of the Romanian inhabited
area of Hungary to Romania and thus left many Romanians within a country of an ethnicity not their
own.
To name all the other races within Hungary would be impossible for they ranged into the hundreds.
Another example is with the Rhineland. This piece of land was taken from Germany to serve as a
protective barrier against the Germans for the French. The problem of this decision was that the
population of the Rhineland was totally German. This would obviously cause for Germany to feel
increasingly upset over the loss of a piece of land so obviously German, and to urgently wish for it
back under any circumstances (much like the French with Alsace and Lorraine). Another example is
with Poland. The peace treaties wished to give land to Poland that was indisputably Polish which also
gave her free and secure access to the Baltic Sea . This was nearly impossible without taking some
land from some other nations (most obviously the loser s) and greatly upsetting them because of it.
Much like with the Rhineland. These are just a meager few examples of some of the mistakes made.
To list them all would need an entire book dedicated to this one subject. To sum this all up, however,
the Paris Peace Treaties contained innumerable flaws that could not be helped in that

In the other hand, we notice that there is a non linear distribution between Sales Advertising
(Appendix 1 Figure 3) which would lead us to build our regression model using the squared value of
advertising as well as delayed advertising..
Correlation
Before going forward and do additional analysis, we might consider looking at the multi colinearity
issues if any. In fact, the multi collinearity problem does not result in biased coefficient estimates, but
does increase the standard error of the estimates and thus reduces their reliability. According to
(Appendix 2 Correlation), we notice a low correlation between explanatory variables: So there is no
multi collinearity issue. We keep all the presented independent variables and we carry out the
regression so as to be able to go further in the analysis. Regression is very likely to be reliable after
this correlation analysis.
Regression
We might now consider doing some regression analysis. In fact, the main objective of regression
analysis is to explain variability of the dependent variable by means of one or more of independent or
control variables. Regression 1 SUMMARY OUTPUT Regression Statistics Multiple R 0.95 R Square

Worm Lab
Introduction Earthworms have light receptors that act like their eyes, and can tell when they are in the
dark versus in the light. Their nerves can detect light, vibrations, and even some tastes, and the
muscles of their bodies make movements in response. They breathe through their skin. Air dissolves
on the mucus of their skin, so they must stay moist to breathe. If worms dry out, they suffocate.
(Journey North,2017) Worms are decomposers and break down the soil. They are helpful in gardens to
mix around the soil. Knowing these facts, this experiment tested their response to the stimulus of a
flashlight. The experiment was ran so there can be a deeper understanding of how worms are in the
wild. Answering questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We hypothesized that the worms would move faster as the light increased. When looking at the
behavior chart, you can tell that not only they moved slower as the light increased, they also showed
signs of early paralysis. When the light was dark, the first worm moved faster and further than the rest.
Worm #1 stayed with the barrier and wasn t bothered by the light. Worm #2 moved diagonally from
the light as if it were blind. Worm #3 did not move until after 60 seconds. Worm #4 moved faster
towards the 4 inch mark then stopped and turned back to start line. The data provided shows that the
hypothesis was wrong.
Conclusions
Unlike what was predicted, the worms moved slower each time the light power increased. When the
worms were exposed to the bright lights, that replicated the sun. When worms are in the sun for too
long, their skin begins to dry out and they become paralyzed and die. (Journey North, 2017). It can be
theorized that when the worms saw the flashlight, they were stunned, and/ or thought they were in
danger and that is why they moved slower. During the experiment, the light was moved as to follow
the worm, next time the experiment is performed, the light should stay stationary. Additionally, there
needs to be more certainty that a different worm was used in each

Comparing The Book Thief And The Boy In Striped Pyjamas
How is innocence portrayed and corrupted in The Book Thief and The Boy in Striped Pyjamas?
The Book Thief, directed by Brian Percival, and The Boy in Striped Pyjamas, directed by Mark
Herman, are both films that share similar themes and are focused on the time of war during Hitler s
reign of power. In both films, the idea of innocence is portrayed and corrupted through the friendship
of child protagonists, influence of father figures, characterisation of children in war and the narrative
perspectives. Symbolism, motifs and themes in these two films are explored to emphasise how
innocence is portrayed and corrupted throughout the texts. The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas reflects on
the horrifying events of the holocaust where the protagonist, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The innocence of Bruno is portrayed through the stylistic device, dramatic irony, such as Not fair, me
stuck by my own and you have all your friends in there. The innocent friendship between the two boys
leads them to their deaths in the ending scene, mise en scene comes into place as the scene shows the
empty room with only the clothes and boots that were left after the boys and other Jews got gassed. In
this scene, there is a form of diegetic music being played and the film finishes with a fading camera
shot, that creates a heart breaking tone to the film and the audience is able to feel the loss of innocence
after the boys death. With a similar end of war scene in The Book Thief, after the bombings that
occurred, Liesel lost the boy she loved which is another way that the idea of innocence has been
corrupted. Within this scene the director uses a bird s eye view angle of the death of Rudy and mise en
scene is also used in this text, placing Liesel sitting with Rudy in the middle of the ruins of their street,
leaving the audience to feel heartbroken just as The Boy in Striped Pyjamas does with the death of
both boys. Although, the friendship between child protagonists in The Book Thief, Liesel and Rudy,
starts as an innocent friendship and remains that way through most of the film, their friendship is
explored through playful love whereas the friendship between Bruno and Shmuel is explored through
boundaries

not seem to be a deemed direct problem to the gap between the poorer class and wealthier individuals.
However Reich says the early 1980s they stopped hiring routine producers in Shreveport and began
hiring cheaper routine producers in Singapore (Reich 405). Looking at these words from the author it

that Americans are losing these jobs, Again in this situation the rich are only winning, as they are

The Importance Of Journey Airports In The United States
For many people, a memory is something they hold within their brains for the entirety of their life.
These memories could be from anytime. Maybe they remember a kickball game from the summer
before second grade or a funny fall that happened at a wedding the previous winter; either way, they
have a memory. Some people do not realize, however, that memories can be taken away from
someone and are never to return. There are over 5,400,000 people in the United States alone that
suffers from Alzheimer s disease or another form of dementia (@alzassociation). Those are diseases
that impair cognitive function which results in loss of memory. Many people with who suffer from a
form of dementia eventually reside in a Harbor (memory) Care community that specializes in the care
of those patients. In some communities, they use what are called journey stations to help build
connections between patients and what may be left of a related memory. Journey stations, when they
help make those connections, create a better quality of life for patients as they are able to grasp onto
some of their more precious memories that they can relive with their visiting friends and family.

  • 2. Personal Narrative-Poudre For The River In Colorado Today will be different. Morning rain softens, and hope rises. I must capture the entire hazy brown form before it fades. Arms around me tighten, tease, but I break free. This is for him. He hands me a mug, and I turn away. He said the essay should be about her. Her name is Poudre, for the river in Colorado where we first met. The name refers to a cache of gunpowder hidden along its banks, but to us it just means clear water over stone. Each day begins with a ritual: She shakes her head and jingles her collar as I reach for the railing. Descending, I hear a clicking little dance below. Her breath is heavy and I open the front door. She leaps out into the garden, I tell her to stay with me today, but she is already gone. Out of sight, she is galloping down the lane. She is our heart: blood up, out of hand, out ahead. I walk on slowly, looking for the first pure light of morning. She waits for me there, and I check on the flowers. Soon, I tell her it is time to go. She turns, picks up the paper, and trots slowly now, back towards the house. I smile and sigh and follow her back. Through the front door, she heads straight for his waiting feet. She plops the paper down proudly and turns to me. Now it is time for breakfast. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jeff stepped out of the car doubtfully on that first day. The face was plain, green, and colonial, and the garage held only one car. This was hardly the house of his dreams. The boys, however, did not hesitate. Slamming doors, they ran across the yard and began playing among the six stately columns of a giant poplar tree. Before long, weekends and vacations were spent cutting limbs and vines and pulling holly stumps. Now there is an endless play of light and shade. The breeze lifts, leaves dance, treetops sway, and I can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Women And Female Characters In Homer s Medea Another of Greco Roman mythology s strongest and most prominent female characters is Medea. Throughout her different iterations, Medea is shown to be closely associated with the female ability to give and withhold life. First of all, she was a disciple of Hecate who, aside from being the goddess of the moon, witchcraft, and crossroads (Brooks, Lesson 12: Perseus and Demeter), is described in Hesiod s Theogony as a nurse of the young (455) and having the ability to increase[e] stock in a pen [...] if she wills in her heart she can multiply them or make them diminish (446 449). Consistent with Hecate s abilities, Medea s plot against Pelias, described in Ovid s Metamorphoses, revolves around her ability to give life by return[ing] the vigor and bloom of youth (7.215). Additionally, in Euripides Medea, she tells King Aigeus that she will put an end to [his] childlessness (716) and help him beget heirs of [his] blood (717) in order to ensure that Athens will grant her asylum after executing her revenge on Jason (679 758). Overall, Medea is shown to be a woman with great control over life. However, she does not only grant it, she also exercises her ability to take it away. Medea kills her own children as a part of her plan to take revenge on Jason, stating that if die they must, I shall slay them, who gave them birth (Euripides 63). She also kills Creon s daughter, stating that never shall [Jason] beget children by his new bride (Euripides, Medea 803 804), which results in a complete loss of all his current and potential heirs. Ultimately, the play ends with Medea escaping without punishment for her actions, and this fact seems to affirm a mother s rights over the life they have given. A similar situation can be found in Ovid s Metamorphoses, where Procne kills her son and serves him to her husband, Tereus, for dinner as retribution for the rape and mutilation of her sister (6.620 674). It is a particularly fitting punishment as it violates Tereus body in a similar manner, by forcing him to contain something unwanted, and allows Procne and Philomela to retake the control that was stolen from them. Not only do both mothers kill their children the one thing they have an inherent right to control ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Israeli Palestinian Conflict And The Northern Ireland The Israeli Palestinian conflict and the Northern Ireland case had many similar elements in conflict drivers and elements that gave rise to conflict; however ,the two cases also had differing salient points. The Israelis were a diasporic community while the Ulsters in Northern Ireland were a minority group living on their own land. The Palestinian and Israeli saw each other as more of a threat than the unionist and nationalists saw each other in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland crisis did not threaten the existence of England while the PLO had motive to destroy Israel. These were some of the several differing factors that accounted for this variation in outcome; however the main issue was threat and incentive. The actors in the Good Friday Agreement had more incentive, or less threat in accepting the agreement. Actors in the Oslo negotiations believed that was more threat for Israel Palestine to integrate. Also, there were significant gaps in goals and incentives they had. An attempt to understand the failure of the Oslo process can be explained with a Realist lens. The Oslo agreements are inherently Liberal agreements, focusing on collective security and the possibility of cooperation and interdependence. However, under the Realist framing, the conditions in the Israel Palestine context was not viable for the construction of a Liberal peace. Since in Realist terms, perceived threat came from other actors If the if practical interests [of actors were] incompatible, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparison Of Howl And Song Of Myself Howl by Ginsberg and Song of Myself by Whitman, have different and similar variances on the take of the world. Howl is more technical and gets straight to the point of the world whereas Song of Myself starts off with a happier side of the world. Whitman describes world as heaven and Ginsberg describes live as dark and evil. Where Whitman is less harsh and Ginsberg is very harsh. Also, Ginsberg uses a raw language to describe the world in a deeper perspective. In Song of Myself , Whitman describes the world as a hopeful place in which a lot can be done. He states, The atmosphere is not a perfume, it has no taste of the distillation, it is odorless, It is for my mouth forever, I am in love with it, I will go to the bank by the ... The suicide sprawls on the bloody floor of the bed room; I witness the corpse with its dabbled hair I note where the pistol has fallen (lines 150 153), Ginsberg replies with, who created great suicidal dramas on the apartment cliff banks of the Hudson under the wartime blue floodlight of the moon their heads shall be crowned with laurel in oblivion (line 46). These two quotes stand out and seem that they are replying to one other. In lines 150 168 in Song of Myself , he discussed that he has been through many experience in one, which is horrifying as children committing suicide. Ginsberg replies to this as if they have committed suicide they should be honored and given the status of a hero for such bravery. Ginsberg way of discussing suicide is more intense than Whitman s. Ginsberg definition of suicide is the resort of pain and suffering and that leads to being honored because it takes a lot of will to go through the agony. Whitman see s the suffering but ignores it because it s a part of how the world is and he cannot be judgmental of whom ever is suicidal because he accepts that the world consists of life and ... It was a few hours later when my dad got home from work and told us that the US had declared war on Germany. He said that his boss had gotten a call from his friend in Washington. • 9. A Research Study On Sex Trafficking Study Essay As far as the reliability was concerned in the study I believe there should be no concern. The individuals in the study were all young women of whom were adjudicated from 1990 to 2011l. If there was any reason to believe that their information was not reliable one could check into police records and other background checks that were available. The presence of the court files helps with the research study being reliable. If those files did not exist, one would question the reliability of the stories from younger ladies. To adjust for the credibility, the researcher obtained information from official criminal histories, interviews from offenders and law enforcement records (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). Sample When looking for a sample for a research project one must be sure that it is going to provide us with the answers to the questions we are looking to answer and it represents the sample that was in mind (Yegidis et al., 2012, p. 210). In the sex trafficking study, the researchers had obtained their participants by selecting 179 survivors of young ladies who had performed the act of sex trafficking. The ladies were selected from a pool of women who had been adjudicated between 1990 2011 (Hargreaves Cormany Patterson, 2016, p. 34). After reading the who research study I do feel that the sample size was effective and it gave the results that the researchers were looking for. The authors did not offer any justification for the sample size that was selected. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Potential Benefits Of Social Media Potential Benefits of Social Media Mentioning the phrase social media brings to mind the elephant in the room known as Facebook. Those opposed to entering this world tend to single out the negative aspects of it and use them as excuses not to join. Merriam Webster interprets social media as forms of electronic communication through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) ( social media ). Nowhere in that definition does it suggest that only one platform exists. That being said, a great deal of good can, and does, emerge from a multitude of such forums. Human interactions are increasingly occurring in virtual settings; non participants stubbornly fight the inevitable as its versatility and convenience are too tough to resist. Although traditional school settings are still effective means of education, knowledge is certainly not restricted to the four walls of a classroom. Learning institutions, and parents alike, can barely afford to hire qualified tutors. Khan Academy, whose mission is to provide a free, world class education for anyone, anywhere ( mission statement ), aims to remedy said complications. Basic tasks, such as ordering meals and asking directions, in a foreign country quickly become challenging without some type of fundamental capacity for the regional tongue. Visiting travelers are, undoubtedly, more well received by local residents when efforts are made to communicate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Council Of Nicea ( 325 ) LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DIVINITY Research Paper on The Council of Nicea (325) Submitted to Dr. Jerry Sutton, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the completion of CHHI 510 D03 Survey of the History of Christianity by Todd Bush August 20, 2016 Saint Augustine, one of the best scholars of the early church, portrayed the Trinity as practically identical to the three sections of an individual: personality, soul, and will. They are three unmistakable viewpoints, yet they are conjoined and together constitute one bound together individual. The purpose of this research paper is to further emphasize, highlight, and defend St. Augustine s conclusion that the Holy Trinity is one God existing in three persons according to the meeting at the Council of Nicea 325. In 325, the Council of Nicea set out to formally characterize the relationship of the Son to the Father, in light of the dubious lessons of Arius. Driven by Bishop Athanasius, the gathering confirmed the precept of the Trinity as conventionality and censured Arius showing that Christ was the first making of God. The ideology received by the committee depicted Christ as God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance (homoousios) with the Father. The Council of Nicea occurred by request of the Roman Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantine. Nicea was situated in Asia Minor, east of Constantinople. Scarce are mentions of successful female journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn t hit me until recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the media defies not only our principles, but also the nation s principles. How can we claim that we are a nation of equal opportunity if we don t practice what we preach? We must encourage women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between the sexes. By 1842 London was the modern mega city of the world. For some of her 2.5 million inhabitants it was an exciting, fashionable and thriving metropolis. For many it was a city of squalor, decay, epidemics and early death and the disposal of the dead was becoming an increasing problem for the living. Comparing The Genesis Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh Throughout the Genesis Flood, Atrahasis Flood and the Epic of Gilgamesh flood, there are many different ways to interpret the different views of The Flood. These different narratives in these stories have their own explanation on how this myth took place and the different beliefs that occurred during this flood. The way you portray each narrative is based on what exactly your beliefs are. When comparing the Genesis Flood narrative to that of the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, there are many similar symbols throughout both narratives. In the Genesis version of the flood, God had chosen to send the flood because the humankind he had created was evil and he saw their wickedness. For my par, I am going to bring a good of waters on the earth, to destroy from under heaven all flesh in which is the breath of life; everything that is on the earth shall die (Genesis 6:18). This excerpt from the narrative shows that one God had chosen to send the flood to destroy all humankind that he had originally created. Just like this narrative, the Gilgamesh Flood narrative, a God by the name of Enlil orders a flood to destroy humankind. Decided that the great gods should make a flood (Gilgamesh XI 109). This quote states how that a flood was to be sent for the city of Shuruppak. In the Genesis narrative there was a righteous man by the name of Noah that was chosen to build the ark. • 24. Romanticism In The Romantic Period And Porphyria s Love The Romantic age is a period where, for the first time in history, people were able to express themselves and their feelings as they wished rather than as society dictated (Handout). This period emphasizes humanity s spontaneous actions, passions, and emotions rather than logic or reason. Unlike the Enlightenment era, the Romantic era essentially replaced the old way of life had been lived with a new style of living life (Handout). Humanity s focus leaps forward into a new view of creative imagination as a portal to transcendent experiences and spiritual truths. This deepened admiration of all the beauties of nature is widely known as, Romanticism. Inspired by the work of eighteenth century Enlightenment thinkers, Robert Browning and Charles Baudelaire s works of imagination is deepened due to the Industrial and French Revolutions. Although these two poets share a twisted and perverse perspective of love for a woman, they both have very distinctive and dark ways of making their audience cringe. Robert Browning, the man whose mastery of the dramatic monologue made him one of the best Victorian poets, opens his poem Porphyria s Love with a thrilling, yet romantic tone that leaves the reader with skeptical question. After Porphyria gets all settled from being outside in the rain storm, she begins to remove her wet clothing. Beginning to transition into modern style, the narrator states; Which done, she rose, and from her form Withdrew the dripping cloak and shawl, And laid her soiled gloves by, untied Her hat and let the damp hair fall (Browning 11 13). Porphyria rapidly moves forward and takes her simplistic beauty to a blatantly dangerous level of sexuality as stated; She put my arm about her waist, And made her smooth white shoulder bare, And all her yellow hair displaced, And stooping, made my cheek lie there, And spread, o er all, her yellow hair (Browning 14 18). The speaker does not respond verbally or physically up until this point. That is before Porphyria utters her love for him; Murmuring how she loved me (Browning 21). Because of her immortal sin of sexual desires, the narrators simple and innocent love evolves into an over the top, obsessive, and twisted passion that is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To live an honorable and honest life, people must balance their pride and humility, but when pride becomes excessive, fate begins to assert power on the person until the person meets the inevitable collapse. Thomas Hardy, in The Return of the Native, and William Shakespeare, in The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, discuss the controlling power of supernatural forces. Their nerves can detect light, vibrations, and even some tastes, and the muscles of their bodies make movements in response. They breathe through their skin.
