Civil Disobedience Movement
Civil disobedience, also called passive resistance, refusal to obey the demands or commands of a
government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition;
its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power. (Britannica)
Civil disobedience has become a major tactic in many countries, especially India and Africa. Civil
disobediencecannot be characterized as a complete refusal of a system, instead it is a ritualistic
violation of the law. The movement and the acts such as protests that take place because of it are
actually considered crimes and are punishable. The punished civil disobedient aims to provoke the
government into yielding a political or economic change. Nevertheless,... Show more content on

This note was a promise that all men yes, black men as well as white men would be guaranteed the
unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Throughout his demonstration he
never ceased to repeat about how the nation must not allow protests to degenerate into physical
fights. Thus, only Martin Luther King, but million other civil disobedients sought for freedom and
equality with the power of civil disobedience and doing it without violence.
In the final analysis, the topic of civil disobedience is actually prevailing in our society regarding
recent events. Throughout history, acts of civil disobedience have helped to force a
reassessment of society s moral state of affairs. The concept of civil disobedience is not only
essential for the government and society but for the potentially justifiable violation of law. Civil
disobedience remains today very much a vibrant part of liberal democracies and has always
maintained a major concern for historical people who had their millstone in the process of
revolutionizing our world to a better place to live

Ghost Singer By Anna Lee Walters
Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous
peoples and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people
in the novel serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into
account the overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under
throughout the histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic
characters through the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly
to the characters. The fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is
dependent upon the perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are a cultural construct
and a projection of that cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to
initially be the spirits haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more
entrenched issue of outdated models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoplesappear to be the
most important fearsome figure. The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken,
and the fearsome figures that the historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid
the spirits, such as George Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent
on examining and judging indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since
both cultures do not

Health Information Exchange Paper
Health Information Exchange (HIE) supports both transferring and sharing of health related
information that is usually stored in multiple organizations, while maintaining the context and
integrity of the information being exchanged (HIE, 2014). The goal of health information
exchange is to expedite access to and retrieve clinical data to provide safe efficient, effective,
equitable, timelier patient centered care (HIE, 2014). HIE provides access and retrieval of patient
information to authorized users in order to provide safe, efficient, effective, and timely patient care
(HIE, 2014). The one components of HIE is directed exchange, which is the ability to send and
receive secure information electronically between care providers to support coordinated care (HIE,
2014). This can be useful when patient goes from facility to facility. My current facility, the
Veterans Affairs (VA) Outpatient Clinic can access veteran s records from other outside hospitals,
by connecting to the EPIC system at another facility. This indeed provides continuum of care, thus

This allows patient to access their medical records anytime, online from the outside of the VA.
Veterans are able to keep a log of various labs and keep track of their health records (HIE, 2014).
Veterans can access to their own health information, which can improve the effectiveness and
coordination of their health care by sharing information with other providers, identifying potential
medical errors, correcting inaccurate health and billing information, and making more informed
decisions (HIE, 2014). The VA Outpatient clinic has MyHealthE Vet, which is an online system that
allows veterans to access their medical health record from the outside of the facility. The veteran
can access lab records, medication, schedule appointment and treatment plan, which allows patient

The Study Of Human Psychology Essay
Introduction
The study of human psychology comprises many elements to best understand human behaviour,
through theoretical perspectives on aspects including behavioural, cognitive and personality
psychology (Caponecchia, 2012). In the modern era, psychology has been recognised as one of the
foundations during learning, with individuals having different abilities and learning rates, it is
essential that tutors teach considering the individual differences students possess (Nezhad and
Vahedi, 2011). Instructors have been shown to teach in their own preferred learning method, which
may not necessarily be the most appropriate style for the students. This creates loss of motivation in
the students and lower learning rates (Gailbraith and Saunders, 1987). Potentially, this is due to
learners preferring to learn within their comfort zone whilst utilizing their dominant learning style
(Partridge, 1983). Teachers need to be aware of the different teaching methods out there and have
an understanding of them for ongoing refinement and success (Vaughn and Baker, 2001). There is
also an importance in recognising individuals not just for their abilities but also for their
personalities and motivation (Entwistle, 2013). Similarly, whilst undertaking any sort of leadership
role, it is just as important to be self aware of your own traits including emotions, goals and identity,
in order to create positive relationships and maintain sustainable performance (Avolio and Gardner,
2005).

Lyndon B. Johnson s Involvement In The Vietnam War
The history of the Vietnam War had a violent beginning. Before the assassination of President
Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson had little to no involvement in the Vietnam conflict. Beforehand the
United States had mainly sent supplies and aid to South Vietnam against North Vietnam. After the
assassination of both president Kennedy and the President of South Vietnam, the war became
inevitable.
After becoming President, Johnson had to focus on Vietnam and the spread of communism. The
uprisings in South Vietnam after the assassination led Johnson to have more force than Kennedy
ever did. The tipping point was the gulf of Tonkin incident. Two destroyers were attacked in the gulf
of Tonkin off of Vietnam. This led to the gulf of Tonkin resolution. This joint resolution enacted by
Congress gave the President power to use military force without a declaration of war. After the gulf
incident Johnson s response to the public stated that he would not commit American troops to the
ground to fight a foreign war. Shortly after the president learned that South Vietnam was losing and
couldn t even protect United States establishments stationed there. After bombing key points in
North Vietnam, Johnson started to escalate and sent ground troops in. From that moment on

that American would end up like the French defeat in the 1950 s in Asia. Like the French he

Essay Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
In the book, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor has moved down the social ladder to
the worst because of the loss of money. The novella follows the Marxist theory where Gregor
who represents the lower class, is exploited and eliminated. As part of the proletariat who sells his
labour power for wages, he does not own the means of production and thereby has no authority
over his very life. His limited powerresults in torture, mistreatment, exploitation, and ultimately
death.
In the first section, Gregor demonstrates the power he once had because he brought in money for
the family to spend. Because of this power and authority, he was able to get away with a lot of
things like freedom. However overall, the one with all the power is the family. They were the
ones demanding resources because Gregor was actually under them. Once Gregor was not able
to work he was quickly dropped by his family and shunned. He was sent to a room for himself
and he was supposed to live there for the time being. The family did not realize they had after
begging Gregor s manager to have Gregor keep his job. Their desperation showed the amount of
power money had on people and it determined the ranking. Without any more money the Samsa s
had to work for their own and their bitterness started to build up. This phenomenon hurt the whole
family because they had lost all consideration for the future (15). The family s first reaction to this
was that Gregor had to handle the situation himself,

Literary Techniques Used In Truman Capote s A Christmas...
Truman Capote was born Truman Strekfus Persons, but his mother made him change his name
after she remarried. Capote was one of the twentieth centuries most well known writers. Mostly
known for his work Breakfast At Tiffany s, he had other great pieces as well. One of them being A
Christmas Memory. Capotehad one main worry in his life on this earth, and that was his best
friend, his aunt, Nanny Rumbley Faulk. Nanny s nickname was Sook, which was a common
nickname for the older sister of the house in the 1930s and 1940s. Capote later tells us that Sook
nicknamed him Buddy after a former best friend of hers who is now deceased. Capote uses three
literary devices to highlight Sook s importance.
Symbolism is used in A Christmas Memory to mirror Sook s actions. Capote uses Queenie for
that purpose. For example, Capote writes in paragraph twenty eight after Sook had been upset and
buddy comforts her, Queenie jumps on the bed to lick her cheeks. Symbolism is very a important
part in this short story because queenie always shows sooks reaction to the things happening around
them. Capote uses symbolism on himself as well is this short story. The symbol for Capote ... Show

Vivid language is displayed here to show us how he felt while these things were actually
happening and give us a mental picture of what Capote is writing about. One example of this is
the sentence within paragraph 2 that states, A woman with shorn white hair is standing at the
kitchen window. This shows us partially how sook looks with her shorn white hair. In addition
the last quote, another strong example of vivid language used in this story is in paragraph seven
when Capote says, Dusk turns the window into a mirror: our reflections mingle with the rising
moon as we work by the fireside in the firelight. That shows us exactly what Capote and Sook
were looking at and it gives us a unique image in our head of that exact

Case Is Croft And Scully Case
Name of the case: Croft Scully Co. v. M/V Skulptor Vuchetich et al.
United States, Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, 1982
Facts: Croft Scully (P), signed a contract to deliver 1755 cases of soft drink to Kuwait. So plaintiff
contacted M/V Skulptor Vuchetich (D), which is owned by Baltic Shipping Co., to shipthe drinks
on board of their vessel. Baltic Shipping Co., in turn, contacted Shippers Stevedoring, Inc., to load
the soft drinks on board. While loading the soft drink containers, one of the workers negligently
dropped containers. So Croft Scully brought suit against Goodpasture, Shipper Stevedoring,
Skulptor and Baltic Shipping to compensate the damages. When calculated the damages conclude

Rate Of Osmosis
As suggested by the graph above and the data obtained through the conduction of the
experiment, an evident correlation between the surface area to volume ration and the rate of
osmosis can be implied. As can be seen from the graph, as the surface area and volume ratio of the
cube is increased, the % change in mass is decreased (as suggested by the % change in mass of 2 x
2 x 2 cube). In a contradicting manner, as the SA: V of the potatocube in decreased, the % change
in mass of the potato cube in increased (as suggested by the % change in mass of 1 x 1 x 1 cube).
This pattern in the data reinforces the hypothesising statement, which stated that if the size of
potato is larger, then the rate of osmosiswould be gradual due to its smaller volume to surface area
ratio, whereas if the size of the potato is smaller, then the rate of osmosis would be faster.
One explanation for the correlation between these variables is that an object with a large SA:V
ratio comprises of a smaller surface for the chemical/substance (salt solution) to move across,
allowing more compounds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results of these two groups clearly differ from the other 4 groups. To exemplify, the results
for the % change in mass of the groups 1, 2, 3 and 5 range from 6 11% but the results of group 4
and 6 are 34.09 % and 0.99 % respectively. One probable explanation for this discrepancy in the
results is that the groups 4 and 6 may have conducted the experiment incorrectly. Potential factors
that may have caused these inconsistencies in results, include a damaged weighing scale and a
damaged timer, which could ve misled the experimenters of groups 4 and 6 by displaying the
incorrect time. This would mean that the potatoes were kept in the salt solution for more or less
than 20 minutes, which would explain the vast difference in the

During Marie s time, the atom was thought to be the smallest particle in existence. At first, Marie
and Pierre Curie believed that perhaps the atom was covered with cosmic rays. Marie tested
numerous elements to find if other ones than Uranium would make the air conduct electricity better.
Pierre was so interested in Marie s work, that he joined forces with her. Her research had revealed
that two uranium ores, pitchblende and chalcolite were much more radioactive that pure uranium.
Marie concluded that the highly radioactive nature of these ores may possibly be due to
undiscovered elements.
In July of 1898, Marie and Pierre Cure discovered Polonium. They named the element after Marie s
birth country, Poland. Chemically, this new element was very similar to bismuth, but it contained
radioactivity, so it must be new. In December of 1898, the Curie s discovered yet another element.
They named this one radium, from the Latin word for ray. The two new elements had completely
different chemical properties, but they both had very strong radioactivity.
It was not easy for Marie and Pierre to convince the science community of their new findings.
Marie succeeded in separating the radium from the barium, but it wasn t easy. She had to treat very
large amounts of pitchblende, but she had plenty of pitchblende to use. (The Curie s

Movies, a collection of scenes put together to create a coherent story, also a way for people to

of entertainment that we use. Personally any type of entertainment movies, games, and so on must
have this important element in itself. It is the story. Is the story intriguing? Engaging? Interesting?
These elements are important in a movie. Today I am going to give my opinions on Kingsglaive
Final Fantasy XV beginning with summary of the story, the things that I liked, and the things that
this movie lacked. The story is told from the perspective of Nyx Ulric, while the story itself is

so small that we can t feel connection to the characters that died. The motivation weren t well
written either because we can feel the lack of reason to why this character does what he does. For
the conclusion, Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV, is a visually stunning CG movie with tons of effect
and superhuman ability concept that is a very interesting style of movie. But it severely lacks in the

Like the movie Frida, it is about the famous Mexican woman painter that was fluent in Spanish,
but the movie was Hollywood washed out and was spoken in English for majority of the movie.
It was really hard to believe that these fluent Spanish speakers would rather speak English in a
movie about Mexican culture and art. With that being said, The Violin has more authenticity to
it just by simply having Latino characters that also speak Spanish, it gives that authenticity and
also makes the setting seem more real. It is a lot better when Latinos play Latino roles because
representation matters, if we have Anglo Saxon actors play Latino roles this is going to suppress
many young Latinos self worth. The self worth goes down because when they see an actor with
heavy European features playing a Latino character it breeds this self hate to a generation that
they wish that they had these features because that s what Hollywood deems as worthy . The

Comparing Kripke s Naming And Necessity
In Naming and Necessity , Philosopher Saul Kripke believes that there are some contingent truths
that can be known a priori, or independent of experience. It is standard to believe that a priori truths
coincide with necessary truths rather than with contingent. I will argue in agreeance with Kripke.
There are cases in which contingent a priori truths exist.
A priori knowledge is knowledge gained independent of experience. It is the knowledge that can be
gained from learning the language, but without actual experience or need to consult the external
world. For example, someone who knows that All bachelors are unmarried men does not need to
experience being unmarried to defend this statement. By having knowledge of the language, one
knows that, by definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man.
By contrast, a posteriori propositions can only be known through experience of the external world.
If I say that It is windy outside , then in order to understand this proposition I must have experience
of the weather.
A necessary truth is a truth that could not be false, where a contingent truth is one that could be
false. If you could alter the universe in any possible way, the necessary truths will not change
compared to the contingent truths. The typical way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literary Analysis Of Bule De Suif
While at first glance Maupassant s story Boule de Suif seems to merely be a story of fellow
travelers and their struggles to continue their journey, it in fact presents a more political and
patriotic view of their journey and quarrels. The main characters, all of whom are French, are
crowded together on a stagecoach and begin discussing their distaste and hatred for the Prussians,
and their pride for the heroic acts of the French in the war. While the story begins with pride and
patriotismfor the groups country, it will become apparent by the end that the prostitute Boule de
Suif is in fact the only true patriot of the group. This sense of patriotism found in Boule de Suif
also allows for a very unique insight into the political and economic themes residing within the
story itself. Within the traveling group an odd mix of people come together to make for a very
interesting position regarding social classand politics. Among the group there are nuns, prostitutes
and members of the high class society of France. While they all come from different ways of life,
they all experience the same sympathy and pride in their country and their distaste for the
Prussians and the terrible things done by them . Even with this common pride for their country
one cannot help to notice the symbolism and imagery of each character s distinct social class and
role. In the first scenes of the story a certain disrespect is shown to Boule de Suif due to her low

Theme Of Conflict In Go Set A Watchman
Although Harper Lee uses other literary elements, she is notorious for using conflicts in her
novels. One great example of hers would be To Kill a Mockingbird. The main conflict within the
novel is finding justice for a negro who was accused of raping a white woman. The prequel to To
Kill a Mockingbird, Go Set a Watchman, also showcases conflicts important to the storyline.
Throughout the novel, Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee uses a variety of different types of conflict
which contributes to the theme that no matter how societal views are changing, one should not lose
their personal values and individual voice. The first area of conflict Harper Lee portrays is character
versus society. She shows this conflict through the main... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NAACP is standing up for colored people in the South who have always lacked the
opportunities white people have. Although Atticus may not agree with the NAACP, it is good
for the organization to have a strong voice among a sea of disapproval to support what they see
as equality. A final type of conflict in the novel is character versus self. Jean Louise is a
character who does not even have her own separate conscience until the end of the book. Her
entire life has been spent shadowing her father s thoughts and values. Dr. Finch, Jean Louise s
uncle, explains, You had to kill yourself, or he had to kill you to get you functioning as a

more independent. When she came home, she was forced to see that her values and her father s
values no longer line up. She had to find the courage within herself to tear her father down at the
end of the novel in order to benefit herself in the long run. By the end of the novel, Jean Louise

American Sign Language ( Asl ) Is A Visual And Natural...
American Sign Language (ASL) is a visual and natural language. It is used widely by the
members of the deaf community in the United States (Valli Lucas, 2000; Andrews, Leigh,
Weiner, 2004). About 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents (DOH) (NIDCD, 2015).
10% of deaf children are born to families with one or both deaf parents (DOD) (Mitchell
Karchmer, 2002). Deaf children of DOD will use ASL as their primary language rather than
spoken English or a different language such as Spanish, Chinese, or other than English (Mitchell
Karchmer, 2002). Deaf families understand the importance of having language access early and
their deaf children s vocabulary will be as big comparable to hearing children who are learning a
spoken language (Baker, 2010). Deaf children from DOD have full access to ASL whereas most
deaf children from DOH have limited access to ASL. Deaf children of DOH are typically not
given the same early opportunity (Baker, 2010). Research suggested that the first few years of
the deaf child s life are the most crucial to a child s development of language skills and for
establishing successful communication (NIDCD, 2014). In Texas, there are nine hundred eighty
Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs that offer either full day or half day pre kindergarten
programs (LBB, 2007). One of the ECE is the deaf education program for children who are deaf
and hard of hearing. One setting in the deaf education program is a public school setting. A

Romantic Comedies In The 1920 s
Romance is a genre which has been going since the 1890 s. Silent films were the starting point.
These very short films in black and white which involved two characters falling in love. They
would only last around 7 minutes. Film makers described love films being about desire and sex.
In the 1920 s to 50 s, romantic films began to portray more painful love. The story line would
involve two people who didn t get on. They would then fall in love more towards the end. Over
the years the romantic genre has been toyed with, trying to make films to suit a wider ranged
audience. This is how more sub genres of romantic films were gradually produced. They would
mix other genres in with the romantic genre so films had more variety and suited more people s
interests. Most romantic films are now of sub genres rather than just the plain romantic genre. Rom
coms have been a huge hit through the 21st century. Involving comedy within a romantic film. This

first dates is a good example of changing the story line. A boy and girl meet and fall in love over

to come to realize she has no idea who he is. The audience experience the girl is suffering from
anterograde amnesia. She loses memory every present day and lives her life the same each day.
The man for 50 days continues to fight for her, trying to help her remember him. Every day, she
does not recognize him. I feel this is very romantic storyline with a lot of comedy, which will
attract a range of viewers. The actors used are very well known actors. This will help to attract

It was common for the artist to paint several versions of a subject, rethinking the composition
and the quality of the painting in the process; this was the case with Poussin s two paintings of
The Abduction of the Sabine Women , which he created around 1633. Both paintings, with their
strongly opposing diagonals, are illustrations of the dynamic and self confident style that
Poussin adopted for many of his scenes from earliest history. Poussin perhaps used the small
stages with wax figures and carefully arranged curtains, described by his colleagues. In his
painting Eliezer and Rebecca at the Well created in 1648, he used the same technic. In his late
works Poussin may well have used such a stage to plan the rigorous composition of Saints Peter
and John Healing the Lame Man ,a painting from about 1655 that shows the artist responding to
the striking and solid classicism of Raphael s The School of Athens. Poussin was much precise in
his work: after reading of the primary sources, he made an initial sketch, and then constructed a
small model stage upon which he could move with actual miniature figures made of

Character Analysis Of King Henry In William Shakespeare s...
King Henry s rise to the throne in William Shakespeare s Henry V could be likened to the life of
a rich, careless playboy who has to abandon the party life and instead become responsible and
run the family business that gave him his wealth. Henry s life before becoming king was filled
with revelry and tomfoolery in the pubs of London, wasting his time with friends and parties.
But great power and responsibility are thrust upon him after the death of his father. Many of the
people of England and the world, such as the country of France, are skeptical of Henry s ability to
lead a country because of his previous life choices. However, in Shakespeare s play Henry V, King

Henry has the wisdom to seek the counsel of men whose opinions he trusts. Overall, King Henry
s good character adds to his leadership ability. Good intentions are nothing without a follow
through, and Henry does in fact act as a good leader for England. After ascending to the throne
Henry consistently shows to his advisors and subjects and foreign ambassadors that he is
eloquent in his speech. When he speaks in the play, anyone listening is aware of his intentions;
the clear and articulate speeches for his intentions are never mistaken. Additionally, Henry uses
communication to inspire his subjects during wartime. During the battle of Harfleur, Henry
calls to his troops in lines 1096 1098, But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate
the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, (n.p.). He inspires them with
fierce words and brave speeches. The best example of Henry s excellent leadership is that he
fights with his troops in the battles against France. He even goes as far lines 2295 2297 to say,
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to day that sheds his blood with me, Shall be
my brother; (n.p.). Henry identifies himself with his troops, which a king, someone of extreme
nobility, would never normally do. However the phenomenal and sacrificial act of fighting
alongside his army as a king and inspiring them with his words makes Henry one of the best
leaders. The last trait of King Henry that

Russel Ward generalised Australians, granting us attributes such as mateship, egalitarianism and
anti authoritarianism:
quot;According to the myth the typical Australian is a practical man, rough and ready in his
manners and quick to decry any appearance of affection in others. He is a great improviser, ever
willing to have a go at anything, but willing to be content with a task done in a way that is near
enough. [...] He swears hard and consistently, gambles heavily and often, and drinks deeply on
occasion [...] he is usually taciturn rather than talkative. [...] he believes that Jack is not only as
good as his master, but, at least in principle, probably a good deal better, and so he is a great
knocker of eminent people. [...] He is a fiercely independent person who hates officiousness and
authority. [...] will stick by his mates through thick and thin, even if he thinks they may be in the
wrong. quot;
This extract shows the extent of the stereotyping that is evident in Ward s text. He makes very
broad generalisations and portrays them as fact. Notice the masculinity within this extract as well as
the absence of groups within the population other than white men. This is a one sided portrayal of
the Australian people which is far from balanced. Although most of the population lived in the city,
Ward stated that quot;a specifically Australian outlook grew up first among the bush workers in the
Australian pastoral industry, and this group has had an

breaking bones or falling because he will have reduced strength. With weakened bones, he is at

trouble regulating body temperature which can lead to very preventable complications. Mr.
Gurt s skin is breaking down partly due to environmental factors but mostly due to lack of care.
If the health care staff repositions Mr. Gurt every two to four hours, the rick of ulcers will
decrease, allowing for optimal skin integrity achievement. The registered practical nurse can be
charged with negligence and staff may receive suspension or loss of license to practice or with
restrictions. The nurse may have taught other staff members especially anyone who was new the
improper way to complete a task and documentation. Ultimately, the hospital could become subject
to legal questioning due to the absence of ethical practices. This can prove to be very problematic
as it holds the potential to result in a legal lawsuit due to the inaccuracy of patient information
maintenance. This can cause further implications on the evolution of the hospital as it will be
forced to deal with expenses regarding legal issues that could have been easily avoided. The
hospitals standards will be viewed as incomplete and or not enforced because the nurse has not been

Essay Analysis of Pinocchio and Toy Story
Analysis of Pinocchio and Toy Story
Recently I have been watching two Disney films on completely different sides of the Disney
timeline. Pinocchio was made in 1940 using cell animation with the story taken from an existing
folk tale. Toy Story was made in 1995 and it was the first computer generated feature film. This
created a whole new genre of computer animated films such as Finding Nemo and the recent

conventions of any Disney film.

The good characters in Pinocchio are very stereotypical such as Gepetto. He is a typical homely
grandfather figure. Jiminy Cricket adds guidance and humour to the film and finally the Blue
Fairy is added for beauty with bright ora. On the other hand Sid s toys in Toy Story are very
unattractive, and at first we are led to believe they are evil, but in fact they save Woody and
Buzz. This shows that you should never judge on appearance. As we have good characters there
are also evil characters. They are usually portrayed in very stereotypical ways such as an evil
laugh or an ugly exterior. Some examples of this is Stromboli the circus owner in Pinocchio
who is large and intimidating. His eyes are frightening and he is most definitely greedy. Honest
John is also evil; he is a sly and cunning fox with a pun on his name. In Toy Story the only bad
character is Sid. He is horrible, ugly (a brace and an evil laugh) and even he destroys toys. But as in
every Disney film the good will eventually overcome the evil.
Another Disney convention is that there are always some Disney Values in each picture. In
Pinocchio , Toy Story and even Finding Nemo one of the morals is that there is no place like
home. The Toy Story morals are Not to be jealous and Be happy with what

Bristol Myers Squibb s deceptive practices were likely to catch up to them. This occurred when

his offer would cause adverse action against Bristol Myers Squibb (Baron, 2010). He played to
their ignorance and entered the agreement. There is no direct answer to the ethics of Sherman s

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Progeny Testing
Breeding value of the individual estimated on the basis of the performance of the progeny is
called Progeny Testing. If the heritability (h2) of the trait is high and the animal is able to
express the trait by itself then individual selection is the best method. But in case of many traits
it so happens that the trait is expressed in only one sex (i.e., sex limited traits), or when the trait
is expressed after the death of the animal (i.e., slaughter traits), then the breeding value (B.V.) of
the animal can be estimated based on the performance of the relatives (dam, sisters and progeny).
Where B.V. is the additive genetic value or breeding worth of the animal or the value of the
individual based on the mean performance of the progeny. The pedigree selection based on the

Number of progeny to be recorded per sire should be more. Advantages of progeny testing It can
be used for sex limited traits like milk production and slaughter traits in meat animals which has
low heritability. It is also useful to prove whether a sire is free from any recessive gene or not. If
a sire is identified as carrying an undesirable trait then it should be culled. Progeny testing increases
selection intensity. Its accuracy increases with increase in number of progeny. Constraints and
Limitations Small population size and unplanned mating are two major constraints of progeny
testing. Problem of small population size can be avoided if the sires are simultaneously tested in
different associated herds or even by field progeny testing programmes. This will help in increasing
the accuracy of selection, as more number of sires will be tested in different herds with more
number of progenies. On the other hand unplanned mating results in generation of wrong data
which provides hindrance in assessing the true genetic merit of an

Fuel Cell Disadvantages
Hydrogen fuel cells are an emerging technology that could be the next mass produced energy
source of the future. The application of hydrogen as a fuel source can be used to power cars,
homes, and even cell phones. Hydrogen is the most abundant molecule in the universe. The
most profound use for hydrogen fuel cells will be for vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cells will
revolutionize the automobile industry. Hydrogen fuel has been used by NASA since the early
1970s to launch space stations and other rockets into orbit (Renewable Energy World). A fuel
cell combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce electricity, heat, and water. Fuel cells are often
compared to batteries. Both convert the energy produced by a chemical reaction into usable
electric power. However, the fuel cell will produce electricity as long as fuel (hydrogen) is
supplied, never losing its charge (Renewable Energy World). There has been a big push in recent
years for automobile companies to produce lower emission producing vehicles. Hydrogen fuel
cell powered vehicles can help to solve the issue. Hydrogen is clean burning, producing only
water vaper as waste. Hydrogen Fuel cell vehicles will be zero emission, reducing air pollution
(Bernard Meyerson). Fuel cell offer all the same benefits as conventional fuel powered cars with
cruising range up to 500 miles. To refill a take with hydrogen will take about three minutes, about
the same amount of time as traditional fuel fill ups. Down side is the first production of

Austen s novel centers around Anne Elliot, the unmarried daughter of a Baronet, however, there are

Philos, Eros, Agape Love in Religion Essay
Philia, eros, and agape are three different Greek terms for the word. These three terms explain the
different types of love a human being can acquire. Philia is a love of friendship, which is
grounded in commonality. However, eros is a kind of love that seeks something from the other
person or thing. Lastly, agape is the lovethat wills the good of the other and is completely self
giving. The meanings of these Greek terminologies, philia, eros, and agape, allow us to better
understand and discuss our relationship with God and human fulfillment. In order to find human
fulfillment, one must find God of JesusChrist as well. Erotic loving is our desire for this fulfillment,
which can be seen through eros. Human nature can be simply defined... Show more content on

Sartre attested that the human being is a useless passion due to our insatiable desires. Markedly,
human beings desire to retain the infinite and that need is simply impossible. For the search for
the unlimited is tiresome and unappeasable. Conversely, there is an alternate way of looking at
eros. In order to have hope, God has to appear to human life as not a receding horizon but an
absolute savior. Human beings long for the truth and due to the constraints of science and history,
Jesus is seen in an alternate way because he is no longer limited by space or time. In this case,
Karl Rahner and Saint Augustine both agree that God always initiates the relationship with human
life. Namely, they asserted that we are constantly drawn to God and God is not drawn to us.
Because of this, we have the option of forming a better relationship with God. Rahner said that
God dispenses his grace to all human beings of every religion in and God is continually accepting.
Chiefly, it is not God s choice to accept or deny us, for that is not his matter
. Anthony De
Mello describes another explanation of human fulfillment to us. He explains to us that in order to
have human fulfillment, we must detach ourselves from our worldly attachments. As human
beings, we allow ourselves to believe that we cannot be happy without a certain thing or person in
our life. Thus, that is not

Fingerprints are the one of a kind distinguishing proof of an individual yet physical

DNA fingerprinting is considerably more solid and depends on recognizing people by
examining 13 DNA areas known as loci, and the odds of one example coordinating another
individual are most likely uncommon. This can be utilized to manufacture the DNA profile of a

Foreign Aid For Economic And Humanitarian Development...
Post the Oslo Accords in 1993, multiple countries supported aid for economic and humanitarian
development in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Foreign aid was also used to support the
initiation of a peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. There was a hope of an
improvement in the economic standing in the region from both the international community and
majority of the Palestinian population. However, it is arguable that the economy of the occupied
Gaza Stripand West Bankhas in fact plummeted to an even worse condition than before the Oslo
Accords. Although there have been positive short term outcomes from the Accords, there have been
far more long term and complex consequences. Donor countries, most importantly the United
States, were not able to effectively allocate aid in order to reduce the inefficiency of the Palestinian
economy. The inability of the United States to provide stable economic and humanitarian
development within Palestine is the result of three main issues: Israeli military occupation and
blockades, the unintentional implementation of a dependency for aid in occupied Palestine, and
political patronage.
Focusing on the United States as a major donor, U.S. bilateral economic and humanitarian
assistance to Palestine will be unsuccessful with continuing support towards Israeli military
occupation and blockades in the occupied West Bank. Palestine has been allocated approximately
$5 billion in U.S. bilateral economic assistance post the Oslo

The Marketing Strategy Of Desnoes And Geddes
Marketing communications are intended to both inform and persuade a target audience, with a
view to influence the behaviour of that group. The behaviour of interest to organizations can range
from encouraging owners to adopt improved practices or to produce a particular product or service.
As has been said on other occasions, each element of the marketingmix must be designed so as to
further the overall marketing strategy, and this includes marketing communications.
Desnoes and Geddes Limited (D G) produces one of Jamaica s best known exports, Red Stripe beer.
They are proud of the fact that Red Stripe is Jamaica s coolest beer. It also brews other beverages
for the local market such as Red Stripe Light, Dragon Stout, Malta, Smirnoff Ice, Guinness, and
Heineken brand names. Only a small portion of D G s shares are publicly traded. British beverage
group Diageo PLC is the ultimate parent company. It has a 58 percent holding in D G through
Udiam Holdings AB of Sweden.

Privately Run Prisons Case Study
Presently, there are seven privately run prisons in Florida. These corporations make donations to
campaigns to increase the possibility of them winning the contract. For instance, the Geo Group
donated 25,000 to Governor Rick Scott s Inauguration festivities. In addition, Geo Group and Core
Civic donated $2 million to various candidates and political parties. Each corporation that gets the
contract has different stipulations in the contracts including the per diem rate, length of the
contract and rate increases. The private prisons corporations in Florida are guaranteed the $36.51
rate even if the inmate population falls 85 90% below the mark. However, it would need to be
adjusted if this occurs for an extended period of time. According to

Essay on Animal Rights is a Cause for Vegetarianism
Animal Rights Cause for Vegetarianism
The choice of eating meat or not has been a debated issue for a continued number of years. There
have long since been two sides: the proponents and opponents of meat consumption. More and
more debates of its value and effect on the world have risen. Many claim it is wrong, while others
think of it as a needed pleasure.
Today, a greater percentage of the population eats meat. Only a few individuals seek the alternative
route. Yet, there has been a steady rise in the number of vegetarians.
Many may already know that religions all over the world have advocated a meat free diet. While a
few are lenient, the majority is steady. The reason a vegetarian diet has been preferred over meat
dates back ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take for example this quote from the Srimad Bhagavatam 1.7.37, quot;A cruel and wretched
person who maintains his existence at the cost of others lives deserves to be killed for his own
eternal well being, otherwise he will go down by his own actions. quot;
There are many more such quotes from scriptures all over the world. Yet nowadays, there is just the
opposite of vegetarianism in compliance of these ancient texts.
quot;Although meat eating has been denied to the human form by God and his sons and daughters
of the past, people still adopt the process. quot;
Such are the statements of devout followers who adhere to a meat free diet in accordance to
scriptural texts.
Those who advocate vegetarianism profess that many people are weak of heart and so succumb to
meat eating. While those who advocate a meat oriented diet say that a meat diet is essential for a
normal and healthy life, for they provide protein.
[The Dutch chemist, Gerrit Jari Mulder, in his experiments, has proved in 1838, that protein is
biologically essential, for every living creature needs a certain amount to survive. This fact about
protein is due to the presence of amino acids, the building blocks quot; of life.]
While it is true that animals provide essential protein for the human body, scientific reports have
provided additional information that may seem to support a vegetarian viewpoint.
In his Book quot;Diet for Transcendence quot;, Steven Rosen states from other sources

Grade Up
Hey Ben, have you seen this? my dad exclaimed. Oh shoot, what could it be this time, I
considered? I hoped that it wouldn t be a bad grade, because I had not done anything yesterday
and the days before, as I had been practicing hard for a game against our rival school. Hopefully it
could have been something a kid in his class from Harvard had made, like last week when
someone had made an toy car that ran on carbon dioxide. Seen what Dad? I stammered. Just
come down here! he shouted. Fearing the worst, I wrenched open the door, and bolted down the
stairs to my Dad s office, where I saw him looking at his computer. Immediately, I knew what he
was yelling at me for. So ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the bell rang I bolted out of science and sprinted across the broken pavement, brushing past
many students. When I got inside, I went through my study guide multiple times, until Ms. Baker,
my teacher, told us to put away our study guides and bring out a pencil. She passed out the test,
and with a groan I saw how thick it was. I opened it and it there were 50 questions! Immediately, I
got stumped on the first question. And then the fifth one. And the seventh, tenth, nineteenth, which
were all about some crazy kid name Bill trying to figure out which bike tire was the best for the
price. When I finally was finished with the test, there was 2 minutes left in the period. I reluctantly
dropped my paper into the scanner, my hand sweaty from nervousness. Slowly I opened my eyes.
No I whispered to myself. I had gotten a B , which I doubted would have raised my grade up to a C
or above, which is what I needed to be able to shoot some hoops again. But at least I didn t get a C
or lower, which would have surely dropped my grade to an F, and make me in a bigger hole than I
was before. So as the bell rang, I reluctantly got my backpack and went to the parking lot where my
dad was going to pick me up. I knew right off the bat that he was going to ask me what I got. So, I
came straight out and told him that I got a B . But I layed it on thick saying that I was sure that
it wouldn t drop my grade, and would probably bring it up. So when we got home, we checked
Grade Check and saw that my grade was only brought up by 3%, to a

Achieving Goal In Chinua Avi s Nothing But The Truth
Do you know how hard some people work to get toward their goal? Some people don t work at
all. If you have a job, then you know you have to actually do your job in order to get paid. If you
don t do your job, however, you won t get paid, and you will probably get fired. The same goes
for if you want to try out for a team; you have to do your schoolwork. In Nothing But the Truth ,
Avi uses the character of Philip to demonstrate how you have to work hard to get to your goal.
The first way Philip demonstrates that you have to work hard to get toward your goal, is when he
asks his coach about trying out for the track team, which ends negatively. In the book, Philip wants
to try out for the track team, but he got a D on his mid term exam in English... Show more content

In the book, Philip is humming the National Anthem in class during the announcements, when
his teacher, Miss Narwin, kindly asks him to stop. However, he keeps on humming, until
eventually, Miss Narwin tells him to go to the office. The next day had the same outcome.
Supposedly, there is a rule at their school that basically says that you have to stand in respectful
silence during the Anthem, but Philip claims he doesn t know it. So, he spreads a rumor (That
eventually goes nation wide) that Miss Narwin forced him to stop acting patriotic. Philip
Malloy: She won t let me sing The Star Spangled Banner... In school. This morning, I was singing
The Star Spangled Banner. The teacher kicked me out. First off, Philip states that he was singing
, not humming, the Star Spangled Banner. That is a lie right there. But since he keeps saying that
was singing it, not humming it, it builds on the rumor and helps Philip work toward his goal
getting Narwin off of his back. Second, when he says, The teacher kicked me out. , it sounds like
she kicked him out right away, and didn t give him another chance. He twists the wording in favor
of him. Philip believed that, by making a partially false rumor, he would succeed in getting Narwin
in trouble. He won, but since Narwin got negativity nation wide,

The parameters ОІ0 and ОІ1 are constants describing the functional relationship in the population.
The value of ОІ1 identifies the change along the Y scale expected for every unit changed in fixed
values of X (represents the slope or degree of steepness). The values of ОІ0 identifies an adjustment
constant due to scale differences in measuring X and Y (the intercept or the place on the Y axis
through which the straight line passes. It is the value of Y when X = 0). ∑ (Epsilon) represents
an error component for each individual. The portion of Y score that cannot be accounted for by its

Understanding Bivariate Linear Regression

The formula Y = ОІ0 + ОІ1X + Оµ can be thought of as:
пѓ·
Yi = Y + Оµi (where О± + ОІ1Xi define the predictable part of any Y score for fixed values of X. Y
is considered the predicted score).
The mathematical equation for the sample general linear model is represented as:
пѓ·
Yi = b0 + b1Xi + ei.
In this equation the values of a and b can be thought of as values that maximize the explanatory
power or predictive accuracy of X in relation to Y. In maximizing explanatory power or predictive
accuracy these values minimize prediction error. If Y represents an individual s score on the
criterion variable and Y is the predicted score, then Y Y = error score (e) or the

Where Does Taurine Come From Essay
Where Does Taurine Come from?
If you are wondering what makes energy drinks work, you may find ingredients like taurine as an
important component of these beverages. Taurine is found in products like Red Bull and many
energy drinks. What is it and where does taurine come from? Taurine is an amino acid that contains
sulphur, a molecule that is not found in many proteins. This amino acid helps increase muscle
function, aids performance and sports endurance, and helps regulate blood sugar levels, reduce
anxiety, and improve cardiac health. Although taurineis found in bull semen or bile, commercial
products that contain taurine uses lab synthesized taurine, which is safe and suitable for people
who want to avoid using animal products.
Part 1: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also helps in the development of mental function in children. Research shows that taurine, when
paired with caffeine, improves reaction time and reduces sleepiness in sleep deprived people.
Part 3: Is Taurine in Energy Drinks Safe?
Now that you know the answer to where does taurine come from, you probably also want to
know if it is safe to use. In small doses (up to 3,000 mg per day) supplemental taurine is
considered safe. It is therefore important to observe moderation in taking energy drinks containing
taurine. For example, Red Bull contains approximately 1000 mg of taurine per 8 oz can. So if you
consume more than 3 cans of this product per day and also eat meats and dairy products containing
taurine, you are likely to exceed the daily recommended amount.
п‚џPossible Side Effects of Taurine in Energy Drinks
Heavy or long term use of taurine may have side effects. One study found that it can lower heart rate
. Mixing alcoholic drinks and taurine could lead to dehydration and abnormal heart rates, since they
are both diuretics. Other side effects include increased stomach acid and diarrhea. People with
bipolar disorder should avoid taking too much taurine since it may exacerbate their

  • 2. Civil Disobedience Movement Civil disobedience, also called passive resistance, refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government or occupying power, without resorting to violence or active measures of opposition; its usual purpose is to force concessions from the government or occupying power. (Britannica) Civil disobedience has become a major tactic in many countries, especially India and Africa. Civil disobediencecannot be characterized as a complete refusal of a system, instead it is a ritualistic violation of the law. The movement and the acts such as protests that take place because of it are actually considered crimes and are punishable. The punished civil disobedient aims to provoke the government into yielding a political or economic change. Nevertheless,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the final analysis, the topic of civil disobedience is actually prevailing in our society regarding recent events. Throughout history, acts of civil disobedience have helped to force a reassessment of society s moral state of affairs. • 3. Ghost Singer By Anna Lee Walters Ghost Singer by Anna Lee Walters is a tale of the historical injustices suffered by Indigenous peoples and the modern consequences of those injustices. Although it is clear that the spirit people in the novel serve as the most outwardly fearsome people in the novel, it is important to take into account the overall systemic injustices that the characters of Native American heritage suffer under throughout the histories presented in the novel. Walters addresses fearsomeness and sympathetic characters through the use of dangerous characters and situations presented directly and indirectly to the characters. The fearsomeness of the characters and the sympathy felt for the characters is dependent upon the perspectives of the readers since these fearsome figures are a cultural construct and a projection of that cultures fears (Cohen 1). The fearsome figures in the novels are presented to initially be the spirits haunting the artifacts, but upon closer examination the larger more entrenched issue of outdated models of thought in relation to Indigenous peoplesappear to be the most important fearsome figure. The protagonist of the novel is dependent upon the views taken, and the fearsome figures that the historians, such as David Evans, and characters are attempting aid the spirits, such as George Daylight. Walters addresses the fearsome nature of a system dependent on examining and judging indigenous societies based on white values, which is problematic since both cultures do not ... Health Information Exchange Paper Health Information Exchange (HIE) supports both transferring and sharing of health related information that is usually stored in multiple organizations, while maintaining the context and integrity of the information being exchanged (HIE, 2014). The goal of health information exchange is to expedite access to and retrieve clinical data to provide safe efficient, effective, equitable, timelier patient centered care (HIE, 2014). HIE provides access and retrieval of patient information to authorized users in order to provide safe, efficient, effective, and timely patient care (HIE, 2014). The one components of HIE is directed exchange, which is the ability to send and receive secure information electronically between care providers to support coordinated care (HIE, 2014). • 6. The Study Of Human Psychology Essay Introduction The study of human psychology comprises many elements to best understand human behaviour, through theoretical perspectives on aspects including behavioural, cognitive and personality psychology (Caponecchia, 2012). In the modern era, psychology has been recognised as one of the foundations during learning, with individuals having different abilities and learning rates, it is essential that tutors teach considering the individual differences students possess (Nezhad and Vahedi, 2011). Instructors have been shown to teach in their own preferred learning method, which may not necessarily be the most appropriate style for the students. This creates loss of motivation in the students and lower learning rates (Gailbraith and Saunders, 1987). Potentially, this is due to learners preferring to learn within their comfort zone whilst utilizing their dominant learning style (Partridge, 1983). Teachers need to be aware of the different teaching methods out there and have an understanding of them for ongoing refinement and success (Vaughn and Baker, 2001). There is also an importance in recognising individuals not just for their abilities but also for their personalities and motivation (Entwistle, 2013). Similarly, whilst undertaking any sort of leadership role, it is just as important to be self aware of your own traits including emotions, goals and identity, in order to create positive relationships and maintain sustainable performance (Avolio and Gardner, 2005). • 7. Lyndon B. Johnson s Involvement In The Vietnam War The history of the Vietnam War had a violent beginning. Before the assassination of President Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson had little to no involvement in the Vietnam conflict. Beforehand the United States had mainly sent supplies and aid to South Vietnam against North Vietnam. After the assassination of both president Kennedy and the President of South Vietnam, the war became inevitable. After becoming President, Johnson had to focus on Vietnam and the spread of communism. The uprisings in South Vietnam after the assassination led Johnson to have more force than Kennedy ever did. The tipping point was the gulf of Tonkin incident. Two destroyers were attacked in the gulf of Tonkin off of Vietnam. This led to the gulf of Tonkin resolution. This joint resolution enacted by Congress gave the President power to use military force without a declaration of war. After the gulf incident Johnson s response to the public stated that he would not commit American troops to the ground to fight a foreign war. Shortly after the president learned that South Vietnam was losing and couldn t even protect United States establishments stationed there. After bombing key points in North Vietnam, Johnson started to escalate and sent ground troops in. From that moment on Johnson continued to escalate the war with more troops until president ... • 8. Essay Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis In the book, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor has moved down the social ladder to the worst because of the loss of money. The novella follows the Marxist theory where Gregor who represents the lower class, is exploited and eliminated. As part of the proletariat who sells his labour power for wages, he does not own the means of production and thereby has no authority over his very life. His limited powerresults in torture, mistreatment, exploitation, and ultimately death. In the first section, Gregor demonstrates the power he once had because he brought in money for the family to spend. Because of this power and authority, he was able to get away with a lot of things like freedom. However overall, the one with all the power is the family. They were the ones demanding resources because Gregor was actually under them. Once Gregor was not able to work he was quickly dropped by his family and shunned. He was sent to a room for himself and he was supposed to live there for the time being. The family did not realize they had after begging Gregor s manager to have Gregor keep his job. Their desperation showed the amount of power money had on people and it determined the ranking. Without any more money the Samsa s had to work for their own and their bitterness started to build up. This phenomenon hurt the whole family because they had lost all consideration for the future (15). The family s first reaction to this was that Gregor had to handle the situation himself, ... Capote was one of the twentieth centuries most well known writers. Mostly known for his work Breakfast At Tiffany s, he had other great pieces as well. One of them being A Christmas Memory. Capotehad one main worry in his life on this earth, and that was his best friend, his aunt, Nanny Rumbley Faulk. Nanny s nickname was Sook, which was a common nickname for the older sister of the house in the 1930s and 1940s. Capote later tells us that Sook nicknamed him Buddy after a former best friend of hers who is now deceased. Capote uses three literary devices to highlight Sook s importance. Symbolism is used in A Christmas Memory to mirror Sook s actions. Capote uses Queenie for that purpose. For example, Capote writes in paragraph twenty eight after Sook had been upset and buddy comforts her, Queenie jumps on the bed to lick her cheeks. Symbolism is very a important part in this short story because queenie always shows sooks reaction to the things happening around them. Capote uses symbolism on himself as well is this short story. United States, Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, 1982 Facts: Croft Scully (P), signed a contract to deliver 1755 cases of soft drink to Kuwait. So plaintiff contacted M/V Skulptor Vuchetich (D), which is owned by Baltic Shipping Co., to shipthe drinks on board of their vessel. Baltic Shipping Co., in turn, contacted Shippers Stevedoring, Inc., to load the soft drinks on board. While loading the soft drink containers, one of the workers negligently dropped containers. • 11. Rate Of Osmosis As suggested by the graph above and the data obtained through the conduction of the experiment, an evident correlation between the surface area to volume ration and the rate of osmosis can be implied. As can be seen from the graph, as the surface area and volume ratio of the cube is increased, the % change in mass is decreased (as suggested by the % change in mass of 2 x 2 x 2 cube). In a contradicting manner, as the SA: V of the potatocube in decreased, the % change in mass of the potato cube in increased (as suggested by the % change in mass of 1 x 1 x 1 cube). This pattern in the data reinforces the hypothesising statement, which stated that if the size of potato is larger, then the rate of osmosiswould be gradual due to its smaller volume to surface area ratio, whereas if the size of the potato is smaller, then the rate of osmosis would be faster. One explanation for the correlation between these variables is that an object with a large SA:V ratio comprises of a smaller surface for the chemical/substance (salt solution) to move across, allowing more compounds ... One probable explanation for this discrepancy in the results is that the groups 4 and 6 may have conducted the experiment incorrectly. Potential factors that may have caused these inconsistencies in results, include a damaged weighing scale and a damaged timer, which could ve misled the experimenters of groups 4 and 6 by displaying the incorrect time. This would mean that the potatoes were kept in the salt solution for more or less than 20 minutes, which would explain the vast difference in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At first, Marie and Pierre Curie believed that perhaps the atom was covered with cosmic rays. Marie tested numerous elements to find if other ones than Uranium would make the air conduct electricity better. Pierre was so interested in Marie s work, that he joined forces with her. Her research had revealed that two uranium ores, pitchblende and chalcolite were much more radioactive that pure uranium. Marie concluded that the highly radioactive nature of these ores may possibly be due to undiscovered elements. In July of 1898, Marie and Pierre Cure discovered Polonium. They named the element after Marie s birth country, Poland. Chemically, this new element was very similar to bismuth, but it contained radioactivity, so it must be new. In December of 1898, the Curie s discovered yet another element. They named this one radium, from the Latin word for ray. The two new elements had completely different chemical properties, but they both had very strong radioactivity. It was not easy for Marie and Pierre to convince the science community of their new findings. Marie succeeded in separating the radium from the barium, but it wasn t easy. It is the story. Is the story intriguing? Engaging? Interesting? These elements are important in a movie. With that being said, The Violin has more authenticity to it just by simply having Latino characters that also speak Spanish, it gives that authenticity and also makes the setting seem more real. It is a lot better when Latinos play Latino roles because representation matters, if we have Anglo Saxon actors play Latino roles this is going to suppress many young Latinos self worth. The self worth goes down because when they see an actor with heavy European features playing a Latino character it breeds this self hate to a generation that they wish that they had these features because that s what Hollywood deems as worthy . • 17. Comparing Kripke s Naming And Necessity In Naming and Necessity , Philosopher Saul Kripke believes that there are some contingent truths that can be known a priori, or independent of experience. It is standard to believe that a priori truths coincide with necessary truths rather than with contingent. I will argue in agreeance with Kripke. There are cases in which contingent a priori truths exist. A priori knowledge is knowledge gained independent of experience. It is the knowledge that can be gained from learning the language, but without actual experience or need to consult the external world. For example, someone who knows that All bachelors are unmarried men does not need to experience being unmarried to defend this statement. By having knowledge of the language, one knows that, by definition, a bachelor is an unmarried man. By contrast, a posteriori propositions can only be known through experience of the external world. If I say that It is windy outside , then in order to understand this proposition I must have experience of the weather. A necessary truth is a truth that could not be false, where a contingent truth is one that could be false. If you could alter the universe in any possible way, the necessary truths will not change compared to the contingent truths. The typical way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 18. Literary Analysis Of Bule De Suif While at first glance Maupassant s story Boule de Suif seems to merely be a story of fellow travelers and their struggles to continue their journey, it in fact presents a more political and patriotic view of their journey and quarrels. The main characters, all of whom are French, are crowded together on a stagecoach and begin discussing their distaste and hatred for the Prussians, and their pride for the heroic acts of the French in the war. While the story begins with pride and patriotismfor the groups country, it will become apparent by the end that the prostitute Boule de Suif is in fact the only true patriot of the group. This sense of patriotism found in Boule de Suif also allows for a very unique insight into the political and economic themes residing within the story itself. Within the traveling group an odd mix of people come together to make for a very interesting position regarding social classand politics. Among the group there are nuns, prostitutes and members of the high class society of France. While they all come from different ways of life, they all experience the same sympathy and pride in their country and their distaste for the Prussians and the terrible things done by them . Even with this common pride for their country one cannot help to notice the symbolism and imagery of each character s distinct social class and role. • 20. American Sign Language ( Asl ) Is A Visual And Natural... American Sign Language (ASL) is a visual and natural language. It is used widely by the members of the deaf community in the United States (Valli Lucas, 2000; Andrews, Leigh, Weiner, 2004). About 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents (DOH) (NIDCD, 2015). 10% of deaf children are born to families with one or both deaf parents (DOD) (Mitchell Karchmer, 2002). Deaf children of DOD will use ASL as their primary language rather than spoken English or a different language such as Spanish, Chinese, or other than English (Mitchell Karchmer, 2002). Deaf families understand the importance of having language access early and their deaf children s vocabulary will be as big comparable to hearing children who are learning a spoken language (Baker, 2010). Deaf children from DOD have full access to ASL whereas most deaf children from DOH have limited access to ASL. Deaf children of DOH are typically not given the same early opportunity (Baker, 2010). Research suggested that the first few years of the deaf child s life are the most crucial to a child s development of language skills and for establishing successful communication (NIDCD, 2014). In Texas, there are nine hundred eighty Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs that offer either full day or half day pre kindergarten programs (LBB, 2007). When he speaks in the play, anyone listening is aware of his intentions; the clear and articulate speeches for his intentions are never mistaken. But in case of many traits it so happens that the trait is expressed in only one sex (i.e., sex limited traits), or when the trait is expressed after the death of the animal (i.e., slaughter traits), then the breeding value (B.V.) of the animal can be estimated based on the performance of the relatives (dam, sisters and progeny). There has been a big push in recent years for automobile companies to produce lower emission producing vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles can help to solve the issue. Hydrogen is clean burning, producing only water vaper as waste. Hydrogen Fuel cell vehicles will be zero emission, reducing air pollution (Bernard Meyerson). When hearing the news of their engagement, Anne thinks, Captain Benwick and Louisa Musgrove! The high spirited, joyous talking Louisa Musgrove, and the dejected, thinking, feeling, reading, Captain Benwick, seemed each of them everything that would not suit the other. (Austen 156). Anne is in utter shock to hear that these unlikely lovers are set to marry each other. During Anne s time in Lyme, she discovers that Benwick is a mature, well read man who reads only poetry and Louisa is a foolish young girl who nearly killed herself by jumping off of a seawall. The discovery of their engagement surprises Anne because she could not believe that such an unlikely pair could be a good match. Later she says with a tone of realization, Louisa, just recovering from illness, had been in an interesting state, and Captain Benwick was not inconsolable. (Austen 156). The narrator insinuates that their engagement is a product of being bored in a city with nothing to do. These two rely on each other almost entirely as Louisa heals Benwick s emotional brokenness from the death of his late wife, while Benwick helps to heal Louisa s injured body and mind. • 36. Philos, Eros, Agape Love in Religion Essay Philia, eros, and agape are three different Greek terms for the word. These three terms explain the different types of love a human being can acquire. Philia is a love of friendship, which is grounded in commonality. However, eros is a kind of love that seeks something from the other person or thing. Lastly, agape is the lovethat wills the good of the other and is completely self giving. The meanings of these Greek terminologies, philia, eros, and agape, allow us to better understand and discuss our relationship with God and human fulfillment. In order to find human fulfillment, one must find God of JesusChrist as well. Erotic loving is our desire for this fulfillment, which can be seen through eros. Human nature can be simply defined... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sartre attested that the human being is a useless passion due to our insatiable desires. Markedly, human beings desire to retain the infinite and that need is simply impossible. For the search for the unlimited is tiresome and unappeasable. Conversely, there is an alternate way of looking at eros. In order to have hope, God has to appear to human life as not a receding horizon but an absolute savior. Human beings long for the truth and due to the constraints of science and history, Jesus is seen in an alternate way because he is no longer limited by space or time. In this case, Karl Rahner and Saint Augustine both agree that God always initiates the relationship with human life. Namely, they asserted that we are constantly drawn to God and God is not drawn to us. Because of this, we have the option of forming a better relationship with God. Rahner said that God dispenses his grace to all human beings of every religion in and God is continually accepting. Chiefly, it is not God s choice to accept or deny us, for that is not his matter
. Anthony De Mello describes another explanation of human fulfillment to us. He explains to us that in order to have human fulfillment, we must detach ourselves from our worldly attachments. As human beings, we allow ourselves to believe that we cannot be happy without a certain thing or person in our life. Thus, that is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Foreign Aid For Economic And Humanitarian Development... Post the Oslo Accords in 1993, multiple countries supported aid for economic and humanitarian development in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Foreign aid was also used to support the initiation of a peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis. There was a hope of an improvement in the economic standing in the region from both the international community and majority of the Palestinian population. However, it is arguable that the economy of the occupied Gaza Stripand West Bankhas in fact plummeted to an even worse condition than before the Oslo Accords. Although there have been positive short term outcomes from the Accords, there have been far more long term and complex consequences. Donor countries, most importantly the United States, were not able to effectively allocate aid in order to reduce the inefficiency of the Palestinian economy. The inability of the United States to provide stable economic and humanitarian development within Palestine is the result of three main issues: Israeli military occupation and blockades, the unintentional implementation of a dependency for aid in occupied Palestine, and political patronage. Focusing on the United States as a major donor, U.S. bilateral economic and humanitarian assistance to Palestine will be unsuccessful with continuing support towards Israeli military occupation and blockades in the occupied West Bank. Hopefully it could have been something a kid in his class from Harvard had made, like last week when someone had made an toy car that ran on carbon dioxide. Seen what Dad? I stammered. And the seventh, tenth, nineteenth, which were all about some crazy kid name Bill trying to figure out which bike tire was the best for the price. When I finally was finished with the test, there was 2 minutes left in the period. I reluctantly dropped my paper into the scanner, my hand sweaty from nervousness. Slowly I opened my eyes. No I whispered to myself. I had gotten a B , which I doubted would have raised my grade up to a C or above, which is what I needed to be able to shoot some hoops again. But at least I didn t get a C or lower, which would have surely dropped my grade to an F, and make me in a bigger hole than I was before.
