Writing an essay on the topic of "Capitalism Vs Communism" can be quite challenging due to
the complexity and depth of the subject matter. The task requires a thorough understanding of
both economic systems, their historical context, and the various philosophical underpinnings that

of each system, considering their real-world implementations and implications.
The difficulty arises from the need to present a balanced and well-researched argument that
captures the nuances of both capitalism and communism. It's essential to delve into economic
theories, historical events, and political ideologies to provide a comprehensive overview.

ideas, and maintaining an objective tone throughout. Finding the right balance between theory

The Bias Of Law Enforcement Officers
The implicit bias of law enforcement officers to perceive White Americans as
innocent, and non White Americans as criminals, has lead law enforcement officers
to profile non White Americans. This is an example of white privilege because white
offenders are virtually immune to being suspected of drug use. And because law
enforcement officers do not suspect white peopleof drug use in proportion to the
number of them that actually use drugs, they do not arrest white drug users
accordingly. Moreover, court officials do not charge white offenders
proportionately. Thus, disproportion in incarceration rates is a form of racial
inequity. If white people used their privilege to advocate for non white people we
could eliminate this racial inequity. But first, we must take steps to educate white
children on white privilege. Only then can white children use their privilege to
advocate for non white people. How then, specifically, does educating white children
on white privilege work?
Educating white children on white privilege is not as straightforward as it may
seem. One study in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology suggests that
when presented with evidence of white privilege, white people actually respond with
denial on the basis of personal hardships (Phillips, Lowry 12 18). The study also
stated that understanding privilege, requires a comparison to someone of another
group membership with the same life circumstances (Phillips, Lowry 12 18). If white
children feel that
Aggressiveness in Girls Essay
Aggressiveness in Girls
When people think of a bully, they picture an oversize older boy picking on the
younger nerdy boys for their milk money, lunch, etc. It is a common stereotype
because boys are more likely than girls to engage in bullying activity, especially when
it comes to physical violence (Sheras, 2002, p.25). Bullies come in all shapes, sizes,
ages, and even gender. It is less obvious in girls to be bullies because our society
today views females as being gentle and nature, and it isn t lady like to be involved in
aggressive behavior.
There is a hidden culture of girl s aggression in which bullying is epidemic,
distinctive, and destructive. Girls use backbiting, exclusion, rumors, name calling,
and manipulation to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Either she can try to benefit from the situation and grow stronger or fail and isolate
herself from everyone for fear of repeated rejection. Also a strong feeling of revenge
is felt even long after the event has subsided.
There are many reasons why girls are aggressive to other girls. Some of the reasons
I know of personally are jealousy, territory, and higher social status. The most
important of these would be higher social status meaning popularity. Being
popular means that you get anything you want and you have the most friends out
of everyone in the whole school. Yet, popularity is not all it is made out to be. As
Rachel Simmons mentioned in her book, ODD girl OUT, popularity is a cutthroat
contest into which girls pour boundless energy and anxiety. It is an addiction, a
siren call, and a prize for which some would pay any price. Popularity changes
girls, causes a great many of them to lie and cheat and steal. They lie to be
accepted, cheat their friends by using them, and steal people s secrets to resell at a
higher social price (p156). There is so much pressure into being popular but is it
really worth it? Losing trustworthy friends who honestly respect you, to gain fake
friends who respect you publicly but stab you in the back in private. In my view I
would rather have few dependable friends for a lifetime, than many bogus friends for
a short time.
Jealousy is right behind popularity. Girls are usually jealous

Acquisition Of A New Company
1.a) As Basques Steiner ( B S ), we will begin by first commenting on the
characteristics of the merger and then discuss the relevance of preferred stock to
Pressler Awari (PA) and their completion of the merger.
As stated, an initial informational basis for the merger must be outlined. PA and RK,
both manufacturers of automobiles, have significant synergies in terms of business
fit similar markets and potential goals for cost cutting, increased market share, etc.
These synergies are specific and thus give rise to potential clear motives for the
merger. Mergers produce a single unified company, constituting the production of a
new company through the conclusion of another. It is due to this fact that it is
necessary to review ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In regards to voting rights on material changes, the preferred stockholders of PA will
have a particularly significant influence on the decision to merge with RK as a
merger denotes a significant change to the company. Ultimately, the preferred
stockholders must vote for the merger for the merger to be completed. Should they
vote against the merger, the merger cannot occur if the preferred stockholders
maintain a controlling share. Rights to dividends indicate the preferential treatment
in preferred stockholders receiving dividends should available funding for payments
be limited. Should the new company PARK pay dividends, the preferred
stockholders may be more inclined to vote and participate in the merger.
Convertibility rights allow holders to transform holdings of preferred stock to a dollar
value should the company experience bankruptcy or a similar fate. Finally,
liquidation rights indicate PA s priority in paying these preferred stockholders should
they find themselves in a state of liquidation.
Additionally, preferred stock also has certain tax consequences in this particular
merger. If the merger had used only common stock, the transaction would not be
taxable, as the seller has not given up any risk or exposure. This would have
significant implications on the financial statements in terms of taxes paid and should
thus be evaluated in greater detail during the calculation of the merger cost. In
considerations for mergers, business fit and financial fit are
Social Inequality In The United States
Social inequality comes in many forms including things such as income, race,
gender, and wealth. It is something we can see in everyday life, yet there are some
people that don t seem to think it exists, or it at least isn t anything that they need
to be concerned about because they re doing just fine. I believe that they are wrong
and that inequality affects us all in one way or another. It is something that we need
to come to grips with and deal with as a society and is not a problem that can be
solved on an individual basis.
Income inequality has come to the front as an issue over the past few years due to
low wage workers demanding a raise in the minimum wage. While the United States
remains one of the richest countries in the world, ... Show more content on

Supposedly our system is progressive , which means that it is taxing higher
incomes at higher rates, but with all of the loopholes and tax breaks that those at
the top can work around, a lot of the lower classes actually end up paying more of a
percentage of their income in taxes. Sales taxes and payroll taxes also hit those
income levels harder because, again, those end up being a larger amount of their
total income. For example, Kansas now has one of the nation s highest sales tax
rates, at 6.5%, in the nation. Many localities have additional local taxes on top of
that, making the total tax rate upwards of 10% in some places. (Kansas
Department of Revenue, 2015). A 10% sales tax is going to make life a lot harder
for someone who only brings home $600 a month than it is on someone who brings
home $4000 a month. Regressive taxes like this tend to hit the lower and middle
class harder so, if we want to improve income inequality we can move to reduce
those. At the federal level, congress can move to implement policies like I mentioned,
along with others that would make the system fairer and distribute wealth a little more
The Classical Period Of The Baroque Era
The Classical time period, which spanned a length of seventy years, from 1750 to
1820, was very different in nature from its predecessor, the Baroque time period.
The Baroque era featured works that were ornamentally elaborate, where the artists
and composers centered their works on a big, bold style that was dramatic in its
composition. Artists and composers transferred strong feelings of tension and
emotion into their works and it was common for there to be some type of action or
movement happening within the work. Those who lived in the Classical time
period, valued simplicity and wanted to return to the ideals of the Greeks.
Therefore, the Classical time period is characterized by clear structural clarity,
simplicity, smoothness, and symmetry. However, though the works took a step back
from the grand movement of the Baroque era, the composers and artists of the
Classical time period did lay out a tuneful and elegant style in their music and art.
Out of the Classical era came many renowned artists and composers, two of those
whom are artist Sir Thomas Lawrence and composer Ludwig van Beethoven( NYU ).
In the year of 1769, Thomas Lawrence was born to his parents in Bristol, England.
Though he was born in Bristol, Lawrence grew up in Devizes and later on, in Bath
and Oxford, where his self education as an artist was furthered. In Devizes,
Lawrence spent his childhood at his father s inn, where he began his career as an
artist. In these early years of his life, he taught

Invasive species got their name for a reason, and that s because they re invasive.
Which basically means: They re spreading everywhere even though, no one wants
them to. Now let s look at invasive plants. They re about 1,300 non native species
inhabiting California (ipm.UCdavis.edu). And some have the potential to become a
very harmful invasive species. They can cause many things: 1) Changing the soil
fertility in an ecosystem, 2) Promoting a shorter interval (or in some cases longer)
fire frequency that is not conducive to the survival of native species, 3) Creating a
saline environment as roots absorb salts from deep in the soil and redistribute them
from the foliage to the soil surface (ipm.UCdavis.edu). As you can see, non native
plants could really damage a new ecosystem. Especially when invasive plants thrive
in said ecosystem, which could limit space and water for the native plants. And
based on my research, invasive plants are as problematic as invasive
Analysis Of Dion Boucicault s The Octoroon
Because the dated and white biased perspective in Dion Boucicault s The Octoroon
does not hold up to modern conceptions of race in America, the play only remains
useful for historical examination; Branden Jacobs Jenkins, in his adaptation of the
work, An Octoroon, examines the historical implications presented in Boucicault s
original work and transforms the story into one more appropriate for the modern era.
Boucicault offers his perspective in The Octoroon from a distance, choosing to weave
his message through the action of the play. Zoe s text, specifically, provides ample
context in which Boucicault can introduce the audience to his then counterculture,
abolitionist morality. Zoe reveals his stance on illegitimate slave children, for ... Show

The distinction of race in the very first line of the play indicates Branden Jacobs
Jenkins (behind the persona of BJJ) seeks to expose his own experience as a Black
man through the context of The Octoroon. Through BJJ, we learn that Jacobs
Jenkins admires Boucicault and his work, but notes that no one cares about
[Boucicault] anymore. He s dead (8). Immediately, An Octoroon begins to examine
the role of Boucicault in his work and his role in the American theatrical canon at
large. The closeness to the audience in these moments contrast directly to Boucicault
s distance in The Octoroon; Jacobs Jenkins confides in the audience, as he says You
people are my therapy (9) directly to those watching the action on stage. His
confessions alert the audience to the work as a piece of theatre. Jacobs Jenkins work
does not attempt to erase theatricality, unlike Boucicault, who forsakes theatricality
for a constructed realism. Because the audience understands the story outside
suspension of reality, the text provides a better examination of The Octoroon through
modern eyes. As the narrative begins and the prologue closes, the audience possesses
an awareness of the original text through the eyes of BJJ. This places the story in a
context of critical study and examination from the inception of the adaptation and
affects all aspects of dramaturgy

The Stone Angel Essay
The Stone Angel
Margaret Laurence s story of The Stone Angel is about the life Hagar Currie an
emotionless, stubborn and proud woman. Margaret Laurence uses this stone angel,
originally bought by Hagar s father, to embody the qualities of Hagar. These virtues
are often identical to those one assumes are possessed by the stone angel and are
paralleled many times by Laurence. Throughout the novel, Hagar relives her life
through her memories.
Over the course of the novel, one realizes that Hagar s loneliness and depression are,
in fact, brought on by her pride, detached emotions, obstinacy and ignorance which
she uses, subconsciously or not, to push those who love her most away. Hagar Currie

Father Rodrigue In Silence
In Silence, a Portuguese missionary named Father Rodrigues travels to Japan in an
effort to convert the Japanese to Christianity. He also hopes to find out the truth
behind rumors that one of his old teachers, Father Ferreira, had become apostate
during his time in Japan. While on his expedition, Father Rodrigues sees and
experiences the torture that Inoue, the magistrate of Chikugo, inflicts on followers
of the Christian faith. However, he allows Japanese Christians to be tortured and
killed because of his refusal to apostatize, which reveals that he may not be as
selfless as he appears outwardly. The first time the Rodrigues sees for himself how
Christianityis punished in Japan is when Mokichi and Ichizo, two villagers who
helped hide him in their town, are tied to two trees that have been made into huge
stakes and set up in the ocean. They are left there to die a slow and painful death.

embodying Christian values during that particular situation is in this quote, where he
at least acknowledges that his actions aren t in line with what he preaches: His pity
for them had been overwhelming, but pity was not action. It was not love. Pity, like

Education Is Important For A Nation s Most Populous City...
Education plays a significant role in contributing to Auckland s perception and
engagement with Waitangi Day. Within the wider context of New Zealand, Auckland
is the nation s most populous city with a wide demographic of multicultural
individuals. With significant external immigration to the city, future growth is to be
expected. Therefore, it is important for the topic of Waitangi educationto be
investigated, to ensure that systems are put in place for future pupils that will go
through the New Zealandschooling system, to ensure that they are accurately taught
about the Treaty of Waitangi, and that there a resources and systems put in place to
accommodate for individuals who arrive in New Zealand at an age that does not
require schooling.
A review of the literature revealed that many individuals do not consider the teaching
of the Treaty to be significant. We believe that it is important for Aucklanders to be
educated about what the treaty means, why we as a nation should celebrate it, and
how the treaty agreement was broken. Some key benefits of being educated about the
Treaty of Waitangi include, and are not limited to:
1. Helping us to shape and understand our cultural identity
2. Understanding previous and current agreements of our nation
3. Moving New Zealand forward in a progressive manner from what we have learnt
about our past
New Zealanders and immigrants, who received treaty education, may feel a sense of
belongingness and connection to our past history.

The two companies plan to form a joint venture to develop small cars for the global
market. It initially began manufacturing cars and light trucks through a joint

under its own name by debuting its subcompact Pony in 1974. The Pony was a

Korea s carmakers. During the mid 1970s, the company began exporting the Pony

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hydes, The Horror Genre Essay
How successfully does Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde use the conventions of horror
genre? Author Robert Louis Stevenson wrote the novel Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in
1885. It is said that the idea for the novel came to Stevenson in a dream that he had,
he then wrote the book within six days. Stevenson was frequently ill throughout
his childhood meaning he spent a lot of time in bed reading stories this is where
his extraordinary imagination came from. He was also fascinated by the story of

One of which is frequently mentioned at important points in the story is darkness,
this emphasises the idea that the darkness cloaks the criminal actions of Edward
Hyde such as violence, murder and sex. Quite a few of these criminal acts took
place at midnight this is rather like in the novel The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan
Poe. There are also many references to dark vs. light and good vs. evil this is used
as a metaphor for the fight between Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Stevenson uses
pathetic fallacy to create an atmosphere ideal for that of a horror story. Throughout
most of the novel the weather is described as foggy, face of the fogged city moon
this adds to the idea of not being able to see clearly. The sentence A haggard shaft
of daylight would glance in between the swirling wreaths was as if the light were
fighting to break through the fog just like Jekyll fighting to break out of Hyde.
Personification is used in the chapter eight The Last Night to describe the trees the
thin trees in the garden were slashing along the railings as if they were in despair
and acting out of anger. The way Stevenson describes London adds to the horrific
atmosphere of the book. The description labyrinth of lamp lighted city conjures up a
sense of mystery making the city sound like a maze where every thing looks the
same and there is no escape. Another description that adds to the

event: he leaded the Second Punic War. And the turning point of this war was
Hannibal s crossing of the Alps . Hannibal crossed the Alps in 218 BC during the
Second Punic War. Today, there is a concern on why did Hannibal cross the Alps.
According to doctor Chu who is now a famous professor of European history in
Zhejiang university: To defeat Rome, Hannibal must intrude into Rome itself. Rome
had command of the sea from south to north Africa at that time, so that Hannibal s
troops can only attack Rome on land, but on road, there were Roman troops
everywhereпјЊas a result Hannibal had to choose to cross Alps which was a
seemingly impossible place to breakthrough. (ChuпјЊ2014). This achievement is

For example, in the the Second Punic War Hannibal set his light armed troops and

Steve Jobs Argumentative
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson is about the life of Steve Jobs and he came about
being as wealthy as he was. It all started in 1955 when he was born in San
Francisco and ended on October 5, 2011 in Palo Alto. Steve was well known for
his company Apple. He changed the world with technology. If it weren t for him
and his company, I don t think we would be as advanced and close with others as
we are now. He was very argumentative, but he enjoyed making the users happy
about the product. He was a jerk also, but it all turned out for the better for
everyone in the product. He was a very hard determined worker and believed in
only the best for the customers. I think he was kind hearted as well because of how

was pretty sure I wasn t the only one she was sleeping with. In this incident, Jobs
argued that it was not his child until finally he matured and went and did a DNA
test and it was a match and then started paying child support. But for a while he
was sure that it wasn t his daughter. When it came to Apple, Jobs was also very
argumentative. On one occasion, Jobs started liking the idea of Apple stores and no
one else liked this idea because of the failure they have seen when another tech
company franchised and failed horribly. But, he argued the idea until they all agreed

Social Network And Its Effects On Social Networking Essay
Social Network have been a helpful and reasonable approach to make early

Personal Statement On Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is holding you accountable for all your actions and
decisions. Being personally responsible means you take ownership of what you do
in and with your life. This means from the time you wake up until you go to bed at
night, your life is your responsibility and yours alone. Your values, morals, and
beliefs are all contributing factors in how you view being personally responsible. If
you have been raised and taught to believe that you should consider your actions at all
times, then responsibilitybecomes second nature to you . For some it may be a little
more difficult to grasp this concept. What we need to remember is that personal
responsibility is important in every aspect of life . In collegeone has to take personal
responsibility very seriously. I began my college education in my early thirties. I
had been out of school for quite some time and knew that I faced a real challenge. I
had to purpose in my mindthat I was going to do whatever it took to reach my
academic goals. Starting out I faced several disadvantages , from lack of financial
aid, to self doubt. I had to take charge of what was my dream and find a way to
make it happen. I went to the college after obtaining my GED and just laid it all out
on the line. Once I received my first class schedule I felt I was on my way. That
very first class night I had an eye opening moment. I realized that this was going to
take a lot of hard work and determination. I found out quickly that not everyone

Coronary Atherosclerotic Heart Disease
Obstruction is the action of obstructing or the state of being obstructed. An
obstruction disease is a disease that impedes or prevents passage or progress of
blood through the veins or arteries inthe body. Coronary artery disease, also known
as atherosclerotic heart disease, is damage or disease to hearts major bloodvessels, the

buildup of plaque causes the arteries to become narrow and harder, which limits
blood flow to the heart. People that get coronary artery disease can be asymptomatic

Self Awareness And Self-Knowledge In Relationships
Self awareness and self knowledge in relationships What self knowledge? It can
not be bought at the price of effort or practice. Self knowledge happens by
observing yourself in your relationship with your classmates, your teachers and all
those around you; it happens when you observe the ways of the other, his gestures,
his way of dressing, talking, contempt or flattery, and your reaction; it happens
when you observe everything that is happening in you and around you and you
see as clearly as you see your face in the mirror. When you look in the mirror, you
see yourself as you are, is not it? You may wish to have another head having
another form, with a little more hair, a less ugly face, but the facts are there,
clearly reflected by the mirror, and you can not sweep them and say, That I am
beautiful! If you can look in the mirror of relationship exactly as you do in an
ordinary mirror, then self knowledge is endless. It s like walking into an
unfathomable ocean without shores. Now we want mostly to an end, we want to be
able to say, I have come to the knowledge of me and I m happy. But things are not
happening as well. If you can look without condemning what you see without
comparing yourself to others, without wishing to be more beautiful or more virtuous,
if you can just watch what you are and continue on your way, you will discover that
it is possible to go infinitely far. So the journey is endless and there is the mystery,
the beauty of the thing. What is
Genetically Modified Crops
Genetically modified crops; what are they? Crops that have been scientifically
altered, to create a better species. Though crops can sometimes breed through cross
breeding, with genetically modified crops this is not the case. These crops have
had pieces of DNA inserted into them to create a superior race. The reason we
produce these superior species of crops are because they are often stronger, resistant
to herbicides, quicker growing, and therefore cheaper to produce. That way, the
community as well as the farmers benefit from the genetically modified crops. The
way these GM crops are created is through the fusing of a plasmid and a new gene.

2). However awful the study done by Gilles may seem, genetically modified crops
are not only altered to stop pests or create a bigger crop. There are many
genetically modified plants in third world countries being modified to add
nutritional value, and many of them are also being used to stop illnesses from
spreading. Since 2000 there have been people working to be able to put vaccines
for certain illnesses in foods such as potatoes, tomatoes and rice. These vaccines
would be easier to transport, store and hand out than the shots that are usually
given. This means that there would be more people protected against illnesses
than there are now, and stopping these diseases from spreading and killing.
Another way that genetically modified crops would be able to help the third world
countries is through making it easier to grow crops. As mentioned in paragraph 2,
there are pest and weed resistant crops, making it cheaper to produce. This could
prove to be an immense advantage for the third world countries, giving them the
option to produce their own food, sell it, and support themselves and their families.
This would be an overall pro, as the country would have more money, meaning it
could spend it on education, healthcare and other benefits. But how will these crops
solve a problem? Will they really make sure that there is no food shortage? And
along with that take away the diseases in third world countries? That would be a high
hope for these crops. Though
Importance Of Personal Writing
From an early age, I ve had trouble with writing effectively. I had absolutely no
interest in learning to write, which was mostly because of how difficult it was to me.
Often, I found it boring. As I got older, I found interest in music and poetry, sparking
my interest to learn to write like musicians and poets. Up until that point, I had
always been writingpapers for school, often to write research papers or to write
forced narratives. I never wrote anything for myself until about junior year in high

If my audience were a large group of people, my storytelling would be less specific
and more focused on telling the overall idea of the story; I like to include some
overlying theme in the story. The Arthurian legend that I wrote for class was easy
to write and took me about an hour to finish a five page story. It was for my British
literature class in high school. I took all the stereotypes included in Arthurian
legends and tried to turn them into the opposite whilst also including them like the
rubric said. However, I m almost the opposite for professional papers. I still prefer
free writing my essays, but I must stop every minute or so, just to figure out what
to write next. I ve tried using outlines, but it makes me take longer to write since I
would be doing the same stopping and thinking thing that I already do when free
writing. My audience influences the way I write professionally since I know that
somebody is going to read it. I often make sure that what I say is fully explained,
with as much proper grammar as I can use. The best thing about wanting to explain
every detail I can is that I don t like to leave gray area for facts I state; I state the
full explanation if I know what I m talking about. The thing I don t like about writing
professional papers is that usually forced to write about something I really don t find
interesting, which is the biggest determining factor in whether I put time into the
composition or not. I prefer the writing

The Palestinians surprised the entire country by attacking on one of the holiest

Everyone is commanded to fast and repent for their sins. Soldiers were fasting and
everyone was in synagogue. The war lasted around 20 days, and afterwards the
countries involved agreed to disengage, but this disengagement did not come
without compromise. Israel agreed to withdraw from the Suez Canal, and Egypt
agreed to limit its troops there as well. Egypt was given back the Sinai peninsula,
and Egypt agreed to allow Israeli ships through the canal; The UN would mediate
by using their troops to create a buffer zone. In the end, Israel gained peace with
Egypt, but lost the land they had acquired less than a decade before. The biggest
push toward peace that came out of this war is that Egypt became the first Arab
country to recognize Israel. (Pro con) The Jewish citizens were grateful that Israel

No efforts have been made towards peace with the Palestinians, from 1948 to 1973,

Like Xanax, Valium is a depressant in the benzodiazepine category. Valium is used to
treat many medical conditions, including anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, tetanus,
vertigo, seizures, oxygen toxicity, and stimulant overdose. Valium is also used as a
sedative. The World Health Organization has listed Valium on its list of essential
drugs due to its variety of medical uses.
Despite its therapeutic value, Valium is often abused for its sedative effect. Many
people who have used this drug compare the high to being drunk. They report
experiencing feeling drunk, relaxed, and talkative. These sensations make Valium
very addictive, which can cause people to quickly develop physical dependency and
tolerance to it, encouraging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Demerol (Meperidine)
Demerol is a synthetic opioid that is created in a laboratory, instead of being
derived from a substance in nature. The drug inhibits the section of the brain that
controls pain, and it is prescribed to patients who are experiencing moderate to
severe pain after surgery or an injury. In addition to alleviating pain, Demerol can
produce euphoria, which can tempt people to abuse it. Some patients may struggle to
stop taking Demerol, even if they have used the drug as directed. However, in
addition to euphoria, Demerol can also cause confusion, delirium, and seizures.
While Demerol is designed to be less addictive than other opioids, but it is still a
commonly abused painkiller. People who abuse the drug can develop a tolerance and
a physical dependency to the drug. As a result, they tend to increase their dosage in
order to feel the same effects. When a person tries to stop taking Demerol, they often
experience strong and often painful withdrawal symptoms, including anxiety,
depression, chills, fever, and suicidal thoughts. However, tapering off of the drug
under medical supervision can reduce the severity of withdrawal

When this is accomplished that is when the clinician is able to help their clients and

clinician will establish a relationship with their client. By so doing the clients will be
able to establish trust with the clinician because without trust the client will not be
comfortable to share deep information about what is going on with them but when
they gain their trust, that is when the clinician will really get to know what is going
on with their client.

How Harry Is A Moral Figure During A Time Of War
Choices that Harry makes often lean him into dangerous situations and endanger
other people, yet his intentions are always in an attempt to help and it is their
actions after a situation goes bad that truly shows how Harry is a moral figure
during a time of war. During Deathly Hallows, Harry, Ron, and Hermione use the
Polyjuice Potion to sneak into the Ministry of Magic to retrieve a Horcrux, and in
doing so, jeopardize the lives of the three employees, and the Cattermole family.
Harry and his friends good intentions were there they never expected that they
would cause a ruckus and endanger someone s life. However, once they realized
this, they did as much as they could to warn the family and the other families
waiting to be tried about what was coming, and warned them to run. Their
intentions were pure, and they made a choice that they believed to be safe for the
impersonated party and when they realized the danger, they accepted the
consequences and sought to rectify the situation for all parties impacted: It s been
decided that you should all go home and go into hiding with your families, Harry
told the Muggle borns, who were dazzled by the light of the Patronuses and still
cowering slightly. Go abroad if you can. Just get well away from the Ministry. That
s the er new official position. Now, if you ll just follow the Patronuses, you ll be able
to leave from the Atrium. (Deathly Hallows 264).

Analysis Of The Movie American Sniper
U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to
become a cowboy, but it wasn t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of
terrorism on 9/11 he was ready to fight for his country and enlisted into the military.
He goes on to fight in four tours and becomes the deadliest sniper in American
history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go back. He had two goals that he
couldn t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the deadliest enemy sniper,
Mustafa. Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he finally did, he
faced a new battle. He struggled with normal daily life, but even then he
persevered and found a new passion to aid him. Throughout this film, Clint
Eastwood portrays the theme of perseverance through the use of setting, camera
angles, and the main character Chris Kyle. American Sniper is a film that revolves
around the life of a Navy SEAL sniper named Chris Kyle. Chris grew up in an old
fashioned southern family and grew up trying to start his career as a cowboy.
After 9/11 that was the last straw for him, so he decided to become a Navy SEAL.
During his training he meets a girl at a bar, at the time it didn t seem too serious to
either of them until they end up getting married. Soon after the wedding Chris was
to leave on his first tour to Afghanistan. Slowly, Chris started to become a legend on
the battlefield; all of the foot soldiers wanted him as their sniper because of how

The Man Of The Crowd And Ligeia By Edgar Allen Poe
In Edgar Allen Poe s, The Man of the Crowd and Ligeia , and Nathaniel Hawthorne
s, Young Goodman Brown, there is a constant presence of darkness throughout each
text. The darkness displayed in these works allude to the ongoing theme of the
ambiguity of sin. Both authors, Poe and Hawthorne, are considered to be Dark
Romantics because they both center their works around the conflict between good
and evil in every individual and showcase the dark side of human nature. In using
elements from Dark Romanticism, Poe and Hawthorne create characters who
struggle in their ability to find one s own true self, resulting in character s inability
to accept and understand others because they are incapable of accepting sin, thus
preventing the characters from then accepting themselves. In each of the stories,
there lies an overwhelming distrust and lack of acceptance of others. Poe and
Hawthorne begin each of their short stories by demonstrating each Narrator and
Goodman Brown s inability to accept others. In Poe s The Man in the Crowd , this
is seen by the Narrator s decision to follow the man which he cannot identify. The
Narrator makes the decision to follow the man as it would allow him a good
opportunity of examining his person , something he needs desperately, demonstrated
in his infatuation with the man ( Man in the Crowd 4). The Narrator s need for
identification demonstrates his inability to accept others. In Poe s story Ligeia , the
inability of acceptance of

The chamber music concert was held in Manhattan School of Music at 5:00 pm
Friday, April 15. The concert was conducted by many instruments with various types
of music. The atmosphere was fairly intense as the concert hall was approximately
the size of an average home living room with about 35 people in the audience. The
camber concert was divided into two major parts with an intermission of 15 minutes
in between the parts. As for this concert report I would like to focus on primarily the
music pieces I ve liked and the experience I have had.

speculate every single emotion being produce throughout the concert. The room itself
had a very tall ceiling which made this unique echo that amplified the instruments
sound. The audience seemed very profession as total silence was the only response
they had until the end of the piece .The concert overall was a great experience and I
look forward to attending another chamber music concert soon.

On September 4, a tropical wave exited the west coast of Africa, and by 00:00 UTC
the following day, the system organized into Tropical Depression Eight between
Cabo Verde and Senegal.[4][6] Soon after, the depression moved through Cabo Verde,
and it continued northwestward due to a passing mid latitude trough. On September

turning sharply westward. Interaction with Hurricane Doria to the west turned Chloe
more toward the northwest on September 11. Two days later, Chloe reached peak

Nonverbal Communication In Nursing Essay
The importance of communication is the essential foundation of nursing practise; it is
primarily dependant upon verbal and non verbal communication. Encompassing both
speech and behavioural aspects, efficient delivery and receiving of the nurse patient
messages initiates advantageous relationships, or contrarily, generates significant
repercussions if applied ineffectively, thus affecting the quality of the nurse patient
relationship. This essay will discuss how effective verbal and non verbal
communicationin nursing practice will facilitate a mutually satisfying therapeutic
nurse patient relationship. It will firstly discuss verbal communication, followed on
by the complementary non verbal communication and lastly listening. However, for...

These styles of non verbal communication can be grouped together to form body
language. Chambers (2003) also adds touch, physical appearance and passive
listening . Through careful consideration of those non verbal signs, nurses are able to
gain a more profound insight into the emotional needs and experiences of patients,
thus encouraging additional patient investigation (Stein Parbury, 1999).
Clearly these signs of non verbal communication together with appropriate use will
endeavor to enhance the nurse patient relationship. According to Caris Verhallen,
Kerkstra Bensing (2002, p. 809) to express warmth and empathy the nurse need to
make eye contact with the patient . However, eye contact is a special exception in
non verbal communication (Vernallen, Kerkstra Bensing, 2002). It can reveal some
hidden and profound feelings that cannot be expressed in another manner that will
serve as a role in emphatic connection (Benjamin, 2005). For instance, in western
culture, looking people in the eye is assumed to indicate honesty and straight
forwardness, in Latin and Asian cultures it represents aggression and/or disrespect
(Le Roux, 2002). Certainly in these circumstances, the importance of limiting eye
contact and touch in appropriate cultures and regarding them as culturally dissimilar
ensures patient misinterpretation is avoided.
Additionally the use of touch can in some cultures be a sensitive issue for example in
the Muslim culture,
The Formation of Capitalism in European History Essay
The Formation of Capitalism in European History
Pure capitalism is characterized by private ownership of resources and by reliance
on markets, in which buyers and sellers come together and determine what
quantities of goods and resources are sold and at what price. Here no central
authority oversees production and consumption. Rather, economic decisions are
coordinated by the actions of large numbers of consumers and producers, each
operating in his or her own self interest. Because property is privately owned, it can
be used in whatever manner its owner chooses (Ragan and Thomas, p. 46).
Europe had its capitalistic beginnings in the mid seventeenth century. However,
medieval Europe is characterized by the antithesis of this ... Show more content on

Some products were taken to the local market and exchanged. Exchange was usually
compulsory, in that, one was obligated to supply products and services on terms
dictated by custom and law. Interregional trade, however, was limited to the point that
even a poor local harvest often meant hunger, malnutrition, and greater vulnerability
to disease, and crop failure meant starvation (Birdzell and Rosenberg, pp. 39 40).
The economic system of this era is termed feudalism. Feudalism is defined by
conditioned holding of land by lords on some kind of service tenure to the monarch.
The lords were a noble class who supplied military service and council to the
monarch. The lords social status was determined by their land holdings. The lords
estates were farmed by compulsory labor, known as serfs. The lords maintained a
great deal of control over the serfs. They dictated what, where and when to plant.
They also operated as a judiciary force over the serfs (Hilton, pp. 34 36).
Feudalism is, thus characterized by political decentralization. The monarchs, having
delegated such a substantial amount of authority to the nobles, were left essentially
without any real power. The social order, which regulated virtually all of society,
dictated the need for a king to maintain public peace. Thus, the monarchs remained in
power, but only figuratively (Pirenne, pp. 147 150).
Obviously, feudalism and capitalism are

There is no sign of morality within Mathilde and if she ever had the opportunity to
adjust her circumstances or reverse fate, evidently she will consider the upper rank as
oppose to settling for a mediocre lifestyle with her husband. After the extravagant
event Mathilde lost the necklace of Madame Forestier which was assumed to be
worth thousands of francs. Eventually Mathilde decided to replace it by purchasing
an identical that corresponded to the original. After having purchased it she worked
over ten years to pay off the necklace.
At the end of ten years everything was paid off, everything, the usurer s charges
and the accumulation of superimposed interest. Madame Loisel looked old now.
She had become like all the other strong, hard, coarse women of poor households.
Her hair was badly done, her skirts were awry, her hands were red.
Mathilde unfortunately was oblivious at the fact that it took her more energy to
pay off the identical necklace than the combine worth of the dress and the original
necklace. She did not value her living circumstances with her husband as well as his
love for her. She was more focused on the materialistic aspect as well as the upper
ranks of society. Towards the end of the short storyMadame Forestier states, that the
original necklace was only worth five hundred francs and that it was an
Lady Gaga Fame
Exploring Lady Gaga s Possible Reactions to Loss of Fame Fame is a condition
that allows an individual to be known by many people, especially on account of
notable achievements. Fame allows an individual to have super powers in a way
because famous individuals are usually exempt from the rules that govern others
(Smalley McIntosh, 386). Emily Dickinson has described fame precisely by labeling
it as a fickle food , meaning, it is constantly shifting (Smalley McIntosh, 385). In
today s media based society, fame is constantly shifting from one person to another
quickly. Therefore, the constant shifting of fame puts many celebrities in vulnerable
positions after the loss of fame. The article by Smalley and McIntosh explores how

These accomplishments of Lady Gaga suggest that she was dedicated to music
from very early age and focused on it consistently through her life to gain the fame.
Smalley and McIntosh mentioned that due to the nature of cognitive dissonance,
the harder a person works to attain a goal, the more attractive and hence valuable
that goal will be to that individual (p. 395). They further stated that the person
would react more negatively to loss of fame after working hard to be successful (p.
395).On the flip side, Lady Gaga may try to cling to her image of the monster to
receive the attention from the general public and to remain in lime light. Smalley
and McIntosh specify that clinging is usually seen in individuals famous for
representing particular personas. The authors also mention that after the loss of
fame the celebrity finds it difficult or impossible to gain recognition apart from that
role. Thus the celebrity clings to the role, incorporating it into his/her life (Smalley
McIntosh, 388). Click, Lee and Holladay explain that in modern day the term
monster can be applied to individuals who represent deviation from the status quo
(p. 365). Lady Gaga is known for her unique and weird sense of fashion. She has
many times grabbed news headlines just for her choices of costumes beginning from
meat dress costume to blow up metallic star costume and many more. However,
besides her costumes, she has also provided great music and performances which
have contributed to her continuous fame. After the loss of fame Lady Gaga may try
to grab public s attention by continuously presenting herself as a monster. In simpler
terms Lady Gaga may cling to her image of the monster and continually appear in
eccentric costumes to grab public attention and
Egypt Economic and Social Issues
Bread, Water and Birth Control in Egypt
In September 2003, in an interview with Al Ahram, the Egyptian government
newspaper, in response to a question about economic problems with a reference to a
current shortage of bread President Mubarak of Egypt stated, once again, publicly and
forcefully that rapid population growth in Egypt was the primary cause of the country
s economic and social problems. He added that the country was doing what it could
to solve these problems, but that the government could only do so much. Implicit in
his announcement was a patriotic call to the people to have smaller families. If the
President of Egypt speaks out publicly about population growth, it must be a grave
concern of state officials. Indeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Adamson, Rand Issue Study, 2000).
For 75 years, Egypt has paid attention to its population growth. A.G.Zohry recounts
the evolution of policy in his 1997 publication put out by the Cairo Demographic
Center: Population Policies and Family Planning. In the 1930s, efforts consisted of
awareness building and promotion of traditional methods by non governmental
agencies. In 1937, an official Fatwa (declaration) was published stating that the
Islamic faith is not against the use of family planning. Government programs began
in earnest in 1953 with the establishment of the National Commission for Population
Matters and in 1962 the National Charter proclaimed, Population increase constitutes
a dangerous obstacle to raising the standard of living for all. From 1965 1972 the
government got involved in the Family Planning Services through government state
health and social services outreach. From 1973 1984 these services became more
organized and related to education, realizing that a demand for their services would
be tied to the education of women. In the last 20 years, the Ministry of Health has

  • 2. The Bias Of Law Enforcement Officers The implicit bias of law enforcement officers to perceive White Americans as innocent, and non White Americans as criminals, has lead law enforcement officers to profile non White Americans. This is an example of white privilege because white offenders are virtually immune to being suspected of drug use. And because law enforcement officers do not suspect white peopleof drug use in proportion to the number of them that actually use drugs, they do not arrest white drug users accordingly. Moreover, court officials do not charge white offenders proportionately. Thus, disproportion in incarceration rates is a form of racial inequity. If white people used their privilege to advocate for non white people we could eliminate this racial inequity. But first, we must take steps to educate white children on white privilege. Only then can white children use their privilege to advocate for non white people. How then, specifically, does educating white children on white privilege work? Educating white children on white privilege is not as straightforward as it may seem. One study in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology suggests that when presented with evidence of white privilege, white people actually respond with denial on the basis of personal hardships (Phillips, Lowry 12 18). The study also stated that understanding privilege, requires a comparison to someone of another group membership with the same life circumstances (Phillips, Lowry 12 18). If white children feel that
  • 3. Aggressiveness in Girls Essay Aggressiveness in Girls When people think of a bully, they picture an oversize older boy picking on the younger nerdy boys for their milk money, lunch, etc. It is a common stereotype because boys are more likely than girls to engage in bullying activity, especially when it comes to physical violence (Sheras, 2002, p.25). Bullies come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and even gender. It is less obvious in girls to be bullies because our society today views females as being gentle and nature, and it isn t lady like to be involved in aggressive behavior. There is a hidden culture of girl s aggression in which bullying is epidemic, distinctive, and destructive. Girls use backbiting, exclusion, rumors, name calling, and manipulation to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Either she can try to benefit from the situation and grow stronger or fail and isolate herself from everyone for fear of repeated rejection. Also a strong feeling of revenge is felt even long after the event has subsided. There are many reasons why girls are aggressive to other girls. Some of the reasons I know of personally are jealousy, territory, and higher social status. The most important of these would be higher social status meaning popularity. Being popular means that you get anything you want and you have the most friends out of everyone in the whole school. Yet, popularity is not all it is made out to be. As Rachel Simmons mentioned in her book, ODD girl OUT, popularity is a cutthroat contest into which girls pour boundless energy and anxiety. It is an addiction, a siren call, and a prize for which some would pay any price. Popularity changes girls, causes a great many of them to lie and cheat and steal. They lie to be accepted, cheat their friends by using them, and steal people s secrets to resell at a higher social price (p156). There is so much pressure into being popular but is it really worth it? Losing trustworthy friends who honestly respect you, to gain fake friends who respect you publicly but stab you in the back in private. In my view I would rather have few dependable friends for a lifetime, than many bogus friends for a short time. Jealousy is right behind popularity. Girls are usually jealous

The Inequality Of The Sexes During The Mid-Twentieth Century using the terms, the one and the other, de Beauvoir state the inequality of the sexes. women are the inferior and an imperfect man undeserving of males equal standing. However, identifying an opposing subject is common under human nature. classifying anything as inferior to a dominating subject is rationally viewed as the other. In comparison to the Irish whom until the mid 20th century was viewed as the other by European and American powers due to their different morals and ethics. • 5. Acquisition Of A New Company 1.a) As Basques Steiner ( B S ), we will begin by first commenting on the characteristics of the merger and then discuss the relevance of preferred stock to Pressler Awari (PA) and their completion of the merger. As stated, an initial informational basis for the merger must be outlined. PA and RK, both manufacturers of automobiles, have significant synergies in terms of business fit similar markets and potential goals for cost cutting, increased market share, etc. These synergies are specific and thus give rise to potential clear motives for the merger. Mergers produce a single unified company, constituting the production of a new company through the conclusion of another. It is due to this fact that it is necessary to review ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In regards to voting rights on material changes, the preferred stockholders of PA will have a particularly significant influence on the decision to merge with RK as a merger denotes a significant change to the company. Ultimately, the preferred stockholders must vote for the merger for the merger to be completed. Should they vote against the merger, the merger cannot occur if the preferred stockholders maintain a controlling share. Rights to dividends indicate the preferential treatment in preferred stockholders receiving dividends should available funding for payments be limited. Should the new company PARK pay dividends, the preferred stockholders may be more inclined to vote and participate in the merger. Convertibility rights allow holders to transform holdings of preferred stock to a dollar value should the company experience bankruptcy or a similar fate. Finally, liquidation rights indicate PA s priority in paying these preferred stockholders should they find themselves in a state of liquidation. Additionally, preferred stock also has certain tax consequences in this particular merger. If the merger had used only common stock, the transaction would not be taxable, as the seller has not given up any risk or exposure. This would have significant implications on the financial statements in terms of taxes paid and should thus be evaluated in greater detail during the calculation of the merger cost. In considerations for mergers, business fit and financial fit are
  • 6. Social Inequality In The United States Social inequality comes in many forms including things such as income, race, gender, and wealth. It is something we can see in everyday life, yet there are some people that don t seem to think it exists, or it at least isn t anything that they need to be concerned about because they re doing just fine. I believe that they are wrong and that inequality affects us all in one way or another. It is something that we need to come to grips with and deal with as a society and is not a problem that can be solved on an individual basis. Income inequality has come to the front as an issue over the past few years due to low wage workers demanding a raise in the minimum wage. While the United States remains one of the richest countries in the world, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supposedly our system is progressive , which means that it is taxing higher incomes at higher rates, but with all of the loopholes and tax breaks that those at the top can work around, a lot of the lower classes actually end up paying more of a percentage of their income in taxes. Sales taxes and payroll taxes also hit those income levels harder because, again, those end up being a larger amount of their total income. For example, Kansas now has one of the nation s highest sales tax rates, at 6.5%, in the nation. Many localities have additional local taxes on top of that, making the total tax rate upwards of 10% in some places. (Kansas Department of Revenue, 2015). A 10% sales tax is going to make life a lot harder for someone who only brings home $600 a month than it is on someone who brings home $4000 a month. Regressive taxes like this tend to hit the lower and middle class harder so, if we want to improve income inequality we can move to reduce those. At the federal level, congress can move to implement policies like I mentioned, along with others that would make the system fairer and distribute wealth a little more
  • 7. The Classical Period Of The Baroque Era The Classical time period, which spanned a length of seventy years, from 1750 to 1820, was very different in nature from its predecessor, the Baroque time period. The Baroque era featured works that were ornamentally elaborate, where the artists and composers centered their works on a big, bold style that was dramatic in its composition. Artists and composers transferred strong feelings of tension and emotion into their works and it was common for there to be some type of action or movement happening within the work. Those who lived in the Classical time period, valued simplicity and wanted to return to the ideals of the Greeks. Therefore, the Classical time period is characterized by clear structural clarity, simplicity, smoothness, and symmetry. However, though the works took a step back from the grand movement of the Baroque era, the composers and artists of the Classical time period did lay out a tuneful and elegant style in their music and art. Out of the Classical era came many renowned artists and composers, two of those whom are artist Sir Thomas Lawrence and composer Ludwig van Beethoven( NYU ). In the year of 1769, Thomas Lawrence was born to his parents in Bristol, England. Though he was born in Bristol, Lawrence grew up in Devizes and later on, in Bath and Oxford, where his self education as an artist was furthered. In Devizes, Lawrence spent his childhood at his father s inn, where he began his career as an artist. In these early years of his life, he taught

Which basically means: They re spreading everywhere even though, no one wants them to. Now let s look at invasive plants. They re about 1,300 non native species inhabiting California (ipm.UCdavis.edu). And some have the potential to become a very harmful invasive species. They can cause many things: 1) Changing the soil fertility in an ecosystem, 2) Promoting a shorter interval (or in some cases longer) fire frequency that is not conducive to the survival of native species, 3) Creating a saline environment as roots absorb salts from deep in the soil and redistribute them from the foliage to the soil surface (ipm.UCdavis.edu). As you can see, non native plants could really damage a new ecosystem. Especially when invasive plants thrive in said ecosystem, which could limit space and water for the native plants. And based on my research, invasive plants are as problematic as invasive
  • 9. Analysis Of Dion Boucicault s The Octoroon Because the dated and white biased perspective in Dion Boucicault s The Octoroon does not hold up to modern conceptions of race in America, the play only remains useful for historical examination; Branden Jacobs Jenkins, in his adaptation of the work, An Octoroon, examines the historical implications presented in Boucicault s original work and transforms the story into one more appropriate for the modern era. Boucicault offers his perspective in The Octoroon from a distance, choosing to weave his message through the action of the play. Zoe s text, specifically, provides ample context in which Boucicault can introduce the audience to his then counterculture, abolitionist morality. The distinction of race in the very first line of the play indicates Branden Jacobs Jenkins (behind the persona of BJJ) seeks to expose his own experience as a Black man through the context of The Octoroon. Through BJJ, we learn that Jacobs Jenkins admires Boucicault and his work, but notes that no one cares about [Boucicault] anymore. He s dead (8). Immediately, An Octoroon begins to examine the role of Boucicault in his work and his role in the American theatrical canon at large. The closeness to the audience in these moments contrast directly to Boucicault s distance in The Octoroon; Jacobs Jenkins confides in the audience, as he says You people are my therapy (9) directly to those watching the action on stage. His confessions alert the audience to the work as a piece of theatre. Jacobs Jenkins work does not attempt to erase theatricality, unlike Boucicault, who forsakes theatricality for a constructed realism. Because the audience understands the story outside suspension of reality, the text provides a better examination of The Octoroon through modern eyes. As the narrative begins and the prologue closes, the audience possesses an awareness of the original text through the eyes of BJJ. This places the story in a context of critical study and examination from the inception of the adaptation and affects all aspects of dramaturgy

He also hopes to find out the truth behind rumors that one of his old teachers, Father Ferreira, had become apostate during his time in Japan. While on his expedition, Father Rodrigues sees and experiences the torture that Inoue, the magistrate of Chikugo, inflicts on followers of the Christian faith. However, he allows Japanese Christians to be tortured and killed because of his refusal to apostatize, which reveals that he may not be as selfless as he appears outwardly. The first time the Rodrigues sees for himself how Christianityis punished in Japan is when Mokichi and Ichizo, two villagers who helped hide him in their town, are tied to two trees that have been made into huge stakes and set up in the ocean. Therefore, it is important for the topic of Waitangi educationto be investigated, to ensure that systems are put in place for future pupils that will go through the New Zealandschooling system, to ensure that they are accurately taught about the Treaty of Waitangi, and that there a resources and systems put in place to accommodate for individuals who arrive in New Zealand at an age that does not require schooling. A review of the literature revealed that many individuals do not consider the teaching of the Treaty to be significant. We believe that it is important for Aucklanders to be educated about what the treaty means, why we as a nation should celebrate it, and how the treaty agreement was broken. Some key benefits of being educated about the Treaty of Waitangi include, and are not limited to: 1. Helping us to shape and understand our cultural identity 2. Understanding previous and current agreements of our nation 3. Moving New Zealand forward in a progressive manner from what we have learnt about our past New Zealanders and immigrants, who received treaty education, may feel a sense of belongingness and connection to our past history.

One of which is frequently mentioned at important points in the story is darkness, this emphasises the idea that the darkness cloaks the criminal actions of Edward Hyde such as violence, murder and sex. Quite a few of these criminal acts took place at midnight this is rather like in the novel The Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe. There are also many references to dark vs. light and good vs. evil this is used as a metaphor for the fight between Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Stevenson uses pathetic fallacy to create an atmosphere ideal for that of a horror story. Throughout most of the novel the weather is described as foggy, face of the fogged city moon this adds to the idea of not being able to see clearly. The sentence A haggard shaft of daylight would glance in between the swirling wreaths was as if the light were fighting to break through the fog just like Jekyll fighting to break out of Hyde. Personification is used in the chapter eight The Last Night to describe the trees the thin trees in the garden were slashing along the railings as if they were in despair and acting out of anger. The way Stevenson describes London adds to the horrific atmosphere of the book. The description labyrinth of lamp lighted city conjures up a sense of mystery making the city sound like a maze where every thing looks the same and there is no escape. The darkness displayed in these works allude to the ongoing theme of the ambiguity of sin. Both authors, Poe and Hawthorne, are considered to be Dark Romantics because they both center their works around the conflict between good and evil in every individual and showcase the dark side of human nature. In using elements from Dark Romanticism, Poe and Hawthorne create characters who struggle in their ability to find one s own true self, resulting in character s inability to accept and understand others because they are incapable of accepting sin, thus preventing the characters from then accepting themselves. In each of the stories, there lies an overwhelming distrust and lack of acceptance of others. Through careful consideration of those non verbal signs, nurses are able to gain a more profound insight into the emotional needs and experiences of patients, thus encouraging additional patient investigation (Stein Parbury, 1999). Clearly these signs of non verbal communication together with appropriate use will endeavor to enhance the nurse patient relationship. However, eye contact is a special exception in non verbal communication (Vernallen, Kerkstra Bensing, 2002). The Formation of Capitalism in European History Essay The Formation of Capitalism in European History Pure capitalism is characterized by private ownership of resources and by reliance on markets, in which buyers and sellers come together and determine what quantities of goods and resources are sold and at what price. Here no central authority oversees production and consumption. Rather, economic decisions are coordinated by the actions of large numbers of consumers and producers, each operating in his or her own self interest. Because property is privately owned, it can be used in whatever manner its owner chooses (Ragan and Thomas, p. 46). Europe had its capitalistic beginnings in the mid seventeenth century. Exchange was usually compulsory, in that, one was obligated to supply products and services on terms dictated by custom and law. Interregional trade, however, was limited to the point that even a poor local harvest often meant hunger, malnutrition, and greater vulnerability to disease, and crop failure meant starvation (Birdzell and Rosenberg, pp. 39 40). The economic system of this era is termed feudalism. Feudalism is defined by conditioned holding of land by lords on some kind of service tenure to the monarch. The lords were a noble class who supplied military service and council to the monarch. The lords social status was determined by their land holdings. The lords estates were farmed by compulsory labor, known as serfs. The lords maintained a great deal of control over the serfs. They dictated what, where and when to plant. They also operated as a judiciary force over the serfs (Hilton, pp. 34 36). Feudalism is, thus characterized by political decentralization. The monarchs, having delegated such a substantial amount of authority to the nobles, were left essentially without any real power. The social order, which regulated virtually all of society, dictated the need for a king to maintain public peace. Thus, the monarchs remained in power, but only figuratively (Pirenne, pp. 147 150). Obviously, feudalism and capitalism are
