Daniel Levinson s A Conception Of Adult Development
Hi Lillie, Thank you for sharing such an excellent post and drawing attention to such a profound and
systemic issue in our global culture. Researcher Daniel Levinson in A Conception of Adult
Development addresses the issue of the role of gender in adult life development. Levinson and his
colleagues believed that women go through the same developmental periods as men, although some of
the specific issues might differ between men and women. Based on the study, the small proportion of
women at senior management levels suggests that many women do not move beyond jobs in lower
and middle levels of management (Greenhaus, Callanan and Godshalk 323), indicating the reality of a
proverbial glass ceiling. This particular study caught my attention

Noahic Covenant Research Paper
Throughout the Old Testament God has been actively directing people to him. His method of doing
this was by establishing covenants with him. The definition of covenant is, a formal and serious
agreement or promise (Merriam Webster). There are seven convents described in the Old Testament:
Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Palestinian, Mosaic, Davidic and New Covenant. Some of these
covenants are conditional and based on prerequisites and can be broken if the requirements are not
met. The rest are unconditional covenants, they were made with no strings attached, meaning the
agreement would be kept no matter what. The purpose of this paper is to examine each of these
covenants and their results. The first covenant described in the Old Testament ... Show more content

Moses explains the rules of the Sabbath: no work on the Sabbath (Ex 31:12 17), whoever violates it
must be put to death (Ex 31:15). The first two covenants made to Moses could be celebrated anywhere

by blood and an oath (Ex 24:7 8) and requires obedience (Ex 19:5). This covenant can be broken if

Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet can be said to be the most famous of all Shakespearean plays; however, an audience
could be confused as to whether it is a Shakespearean tragedy or a romance. A Shakespearean tragedy
can be defined as an intense exploration of suffering and evil representing a steep fall from prosperity
to misery, untimely death and/or a great change. Romeo and Juliet begin with a prologue, which states
the plot before the story even begins where Shakespeare s displays his use of tone, plot structure and
characterization. The theme of fate or destiny, Shakespeare s characterization and the use of a

New Utopia Research Paper
The New Utopia In the New Utopia, surveillance cameras will no longer be consider an act of
violation of civil liberties or an invasion of privacy, but it will be the norm; surveillance cameras will
be consider no different than what we nowadays consider a stop sign, a traffic light, or even the posted
speed limit on the road way. To be able to stop crimes from happening, there is a need for law
enforcement officers to be able to predict that a crime will occur in order to prevent it from happening.
As human nature, we always tend to push the limits, if we can commit a crime and get away with it,
for most that will may just be enough them to motivate them to follow through. One hundred years
ago, the thought of having traffic lights or stop signs at every intersection to direct the movement of
traffics would probably consider an act of violation of civil liberties; but imagine if we do not have it
today, there would be chaos. Having surveillance cameras doesn t necessary prevent the crime, but it
certainly reduce it to a more manageable occurrence. Just ask ourselves, would it be better to replace
each camera with a police officer: would that be more effective method to deter crimes, would that be
more cost effective at the same time, would that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Geography 101
25 August 2013
Describe Hurricane Katrina Beginning in the 1950s, the United States have witnessed two Category
Five Storms and seven Category Four Storms naming Hurricane Katrina as one of the most deadly
Category Four hurricanes to hit the Gulf Coast. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina dismantled
several sections of the levee which caused it to collapse. The storm then breeched the New Orleans
levee system allowing Lake Ponchartrain and the Mississippi River to flow in the heart of the city.
Furthermore, a tremendous amount of damages occurred throughout the coast of Mississippi and
Alabama. The state of Louisiana sustained most of the damages not just from Hurricane ... Show more

After Hurricane Katrina, ten months later, jobs plummeted to an average loss of 95,000. During the
month of November 2005, employment had dropped to 105,300 below the previous year s figure.
(Dolfman pg. 7) Furthermore, Hurricane Karina in doubt did cause more damage to the economy than
expected. The hurricane affected 19% of U.S. oil production. (Dolfman pg. 7) Hurricane Katrina
completely destroyed 113 offshore oil and gas platforms, occurs damages to457 oil and gas pipelines,
and spilled as much oil compared to the Exxon Valdez oil disaster. This devastating event caused oil
prices to increase $3 a barrel, and gas prices sky rocketed to $5 a gallon. (Dolfman pg. 7) Lastly,
Hurricane Katrina s impact struck Louisiana s sugar industry, totaling an estimate of $500 million in
annual crop value. (Amadeo) There are two main concepts to prevent another devastating event as
Hurricane Katrina which are plan/prepare and thorough disaster drills. First and foremost, we cannot
prevent nor anticipate disasters; therefore, we shall prepare and practice for crisis as such. When
everyone knows which critical functions are required for restoration then this could provide a
tremendous amount of confidence in life threatening situations. The very basic principles of planning
we all should be familiar with could save the lives of millions. Next, conducting thorough disaster
drills should always be

Biblical Archaeological Of Biblical Archaeology
Biblical archaeology is defined as a sect of archeological studies that refers to the study of lands found
in the Bible and their history (biblicalarchaeology.org). The firsthand goal of Biblical archaeology is
to prove the authority of scripture through providing concrete evidence that the Bible lines up with
accepted geography and history. The Jerusalem Siege Tower shows the accuracy of what was
described as historical events in the Bible. The Pool of Siloam is found in John 9, and proves that the
places that Jesus spoke of while performing miracles really existed, and still do. Finally, the Dead Sea
Scrolls validate the authenticity of the scripture that we read today. Through the analysis of the

(Shanks, 86 87) Two archaeologists, Ronny Reich and Eli Shuckron, were excavating in the area of
the Gidhon Valley, at the outset of the tunnel. While digging in the kings garden, Shuckron noticed
two steps in the ground, and after getting clearance from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, they began
to excavate that area, discovering the true location of the Siloam Pool. (Shanks, 88)
The Pool was then identified to be a trapezoid shape and around 225 long, with steps on the at least
three of the exteriors. Archaeologists were also able to identify that the pool went through two phases,
and that the stone steps were a part of the second phase. In the first phase, the steps were actually
plastered, not stone. They also found coins inside the plaster, which dated back to the assumed first
phase of the pool. The coins were all dated back to the era of the Jewish king, Alexander Jannaeus,
who would be succeeded by Herod the Great. Therefore, archaeologists can conclude that the pool
was developed the late Hasmonean period or early Herodian period. Excavators also found Second
Temple pottery, which had all been finished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and
coins from the First Jewish revolt against Rome, which lasted from 66 to 70 AD. With this knowledge,
archaeologists could conclude that the pool was in use until the end of the revolt. The pool eventually

Part of a child s process in learning how to self advocate for them selves is by learning how to develop
strong social skills and also being able to use a study skills program. Part of having a learning
disability to figuring out and understand what the student s disability is and what strategies work best
for the student in a school environment. Once the child is aware of their learning disability the special
education teachers will help develop the child s social skills in a regular and outside of classroom
setting. A key component of learning how to develop social skills is by practicing communication. The
student should practice asking questions to teachers and peers. Another great way to practice social
skills if by role playing, this way the student can anticipate in different situations what the outcome
will be, and also raise their confidence.
Students who practice their communication skills can also get help in a program after or during school
called study skills. Students with learning disabilities can benefit from this program by getting help in
writing skills, test taking, proofreading strategies, time management, and life skills. With these
benefits of the study skills program children can also get help in using their accommodations that are
unique to the individual and develop from a cooperative relationship between an instructor and the

The Evolution Of Microgrids And Different Other Components
Abstract Electricity supports almost all sectors of the economy and is a critical infrastructure in a
nation. The central grid based electricity gets considered as the most convenient and reliable form of
energy. However, it has not met the entire customer demand need for power since over 1.3 billion
people cannot access electricity. Microgrids are one of the new technologies developed to solve this
problem and support emerging economies and sustainable development. This paper describes the
evolution of microgrids and different other components.

A microgrid refers to a small electricity power system that is connected to the utility grid through the
point of common coupling (PCC) and uses on site Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) for the
supply of all or part of local demands. Microgrids comprise of a low voltage (approximately ≤ 1kV) or
medium voltage (range 1 69 kV) locally controlled cluster of distributed energy resources that behave,
from the grids perspective, as a single load both electrically and in energy markets. Fig. 1 shows the
interaction between the two types of electrical systems and their corresponding components
interlinked by the power converters. [4] From this figure, it can be revealed that the AC MGs can be
connected to the bulk AC system via power transformers and require an AC/DC power converter to
interconnect with the bulk DC system. Fig.1. Interconnection of various microgrid components.[4]
A microgrid is introduced to resolve the issues with the economics and the resilience of power
delivery systems. Microgrid loads get supplied by both the utility grid and on site generation when
connected to the utility grid. A microgrid is seen as an aggregated controllable load from the utility
grid.
The microgrid structure consists of several types of distributed energy sources such as solar panels,
wind turbines, microturbin, thermal power plant each in the form of distributed generation, including
energy reserves from battery. Microgrid electrical connection points that

Compromises Of The Abolition Movement
The abolition movement started before the civil war era. The emancipation of the slaves had been a
major discussion point since the foundation of the United States. In 1775, the Pennsylvania Society for
the Abolition of Slavery was founded by the Quakers, one of the first groups of abolitionists, because
they viewed slavery as un Christian. Even when creating the Constitution of the Untied States, the
matter of slavery and its morality came up as a question. For almost a hundred years, slavery was
something that the country could never agree on. It was such a divisive issue that the Constitutional
Convention even made the topic off limit until 1808. In order to satisfy both the abolitionist North and
the slave bound South, compromise often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Texas was originally part of the northern part of Mexico. In 1825, American Stephen Austin had
settled in Texas along with 300 other families. Mexico had abolished slavery during the 1820s, but
many of the American settlers in Texas brought their slaves along with them. For a while the American
settlers were able to get away with having slaves in a free country because much of Mexico s
population was concentrated further south. However, in 1835, Santa Anna, the ruler of Mexico, sent an
army to Texas to enforce the laws. The Americans in Texas responded to this authority by rebelling
and declaring independence from Mexico in 1836. The Republic of Texas was short lived and almost
immediately tried to become part of the United States. This worried many abolitionists because Texas
was apart of Mexico, a free country, but they made it a slave territory. One of these worried
abolitionists was David Wilmot. In one of his speeches denouncing slavery, he stated, Shall the South
be permitted, by aggression, by invasion of the right, by subduing free territory, and planting slavery
upon it, to wrest these provinces from northern freemen, and turn them to the accomplishment of their
own sectional purposes and schemes? (Document B). Like Thomas Jefferson, David Wilmot s worries
of the South planting slavery on free territories

What is Stress Essay
Stress is the combination of psychological, physiological, and behavioral reactions. Most people have
a response to events that challenge or threaten them. Stress good and bad. Good stress is called
eustress.
According to Hans Selye, a series of physiological reactions to stress occurring in three phases. Those
phases are alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. This is also known as the general adaptation syndrome.
General adaptation syndrome describes the body s short term and long term reaction to stress.
Stressors in humans include physical stressors, such as starvation being hit by a car, or suffering
through severe weather. Additionally, humans can suffer emotional or mental stress, such as the loss of

In short, stress might allow persons to change the way they think and act for the better.
Stress is the cause of general adaptation syndrome and it can manifest as fatigue, irritability, difficulty
concentrating, and difficulty sleeping. Persons may also experience other symptoms that are signs of
stress. Persons experiencing unusual symptoms, such as hair loss, without another medical explanation
might consider stress as the cause.
Stress is often not helpful and can even be harmful when not managed effectively. Moreover, stress
can increase the risk of developing health problems, such as cardiovascular disease and anxiety
disorders. This bad kind of stress is called distress, the kind of stress that people usually are referring
to when they use the word stress.
Although most people would say that stress is a bad thing, they are mistaken. There is good stress that
is positive and productive. Competing in an athletic event or falling in love are examples of good
stress. These stressors are good providing the body with short term energy (410).
Stressors are events that threaten or challenge people. They are the sources of stress, such as having to
make decisions, getting married, and natural disasters. Stress responses are psychological,

As a result of the housing boom from 2005 to 2008 this had caused prices of houses to increase around
30% within that time and I don t think that employment incomes went up that amount. This has caused
hardship in many people s lives that have overextended themselves as well as made themselves house
poor. With house prices rising up, it has made it difficult for people to be able to find affordable
adequate housing to rent or to purchase. This has caused investment properties to increase in price

Weapons and Personal Protective Equipment When protecting individuals from others that may wish
to do them harm, kidnap them, or just be near them because they think that the person he or she is
stalking is theirs in some way it is important to protect oneself first. In today s world of popularity of
movie stars and political figures it has become more increasingly important for those individuals to
hire personal protective agents. For an agent to do the best job that they can they must first protect him

This decision should also apply to the person who is under protection. Not all people that are being

Use of Force
The use of force has always been a questionable tactic in law enforcement and security fields.
Everyone always questions how much force is needed, was the force justifiable and could the officer
have done something differently to deter the use of force. By teaching officers and protection agents
what is the appropriate level of force and in what situations force can be stronger will help to prevent
unnecessary questioning by the public and the media. Most agencies have guidelines and policies that
outline the use of force. These guidelines describe the escalating continuum that is appropriate for
officers and agents to use.
The use of force continuum is designed into five separate levels. Level one is the simple presence of
an officer or agent. The agent is non threatening and professional, and the mere presence of the agent
is to act as deterrence for an attacker. Level two is the verbalization level. This is when an agent uses
verbal commands such as please step back, stop, or do not move to make the individual to stop his or
her approach. This is a non physical stage and is used to let the attacker know that there is someone
present to stop him or her if he or she continues. Level

Just As Computational Fluid Dynamics ( Cfd )
Just as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a central tool in the development of advanced design
across all industries, multiphase CFD (M CFD) is sought after to support the escalation of
performance, efficiency and reliability in a widespread range of applications that rely on boiling heat
transfer: from microelectronics, to combustion engine cooling, and further to highly specialized design
and licensing of nuclear reactor fuel. Due to the markedly complex physics involved, the application
of M CFD to boiling heat transfer is rather young; yet widespread agreement exists on two points, one
being the great potential of the approach and the other being the need for improved closure relations to
describe the subgrid micro scale effects that cannot be directly resolved.
Among the numerous objectives in assembling a reliable M CFD boiling framework, one challenge
stands out and has driven the overall approach: deliver an accurate representation of the physics at the
boiling wall, with the specific aim of challenging the Departure from Nucleate Boiling (DNB) related
predictions. The objective is not original, and if we take Dr. Yadigarouglu s recent statement
(Yadigaroglu, 2014) After over 60 or 70 years of efforts by many researchers [..], the CHF problem
has not found yet a definitive general solution and it may never find one . While a definitive and
general solution might in fact be impracticable, two major advancements in recent years have driven

American History X Film Model
American History X (Kaye, 1998) is a provocative film that demonstrates various models and stages
of racial and ethnic identity development. This non linear narrative is an excellent example of how this
identity is not like a category that one fits into, but rather something that is dynamic, and in a constant
state of flux. The plot begins with an acquiesce 14yr. old European American boy named Daniel
Vinyard witnessing his swastika tattooed, skinhead , older brother Derek, brutally murder two African
American youths in front of their house. As the story line unfolds, it reveals how these and other
characters came to think in terms of certain development statuses of the models in the textbook

That was the impetus that propelled Derek from disintegration to reintegration. He placed the blame
on any one that is not a European American, claiming the problems of the country aren t white
problems and that immigrants don t give two shits about this country. Derek obviously spewing some
of the twisted ideas of Derek s mentor Cameron Alexander, a notorious White Supremacist Leader, is
poised to become Cameron s protégé. Danny narrates that is didn t take long for Derek to make a neo
Nazi name for himself, and Cameron knew how to exploit that. He got Derek to recruit other confused
youths who were exacerbated by the colored and Mexican gangs that were enjoying a surge in street
power Derek does a clever job rallying others into going along with his hate crimes, and horrendous
acts of terror. One particularly ignorant recruit was named Seth was easily brain washed, thriving as
an arbiter of hate. Together with the supremacist gang, they viciously attacked a Korean grocery store
just because they were immigrants, and they knew people who used to work there. The vignette shows
here that the veil of ignorance is so thick that Derek truly had himself believing that he was doing
something honorable by defending his neighborhood. Instead, he infected his community with a fatal,
insidious epidemic of blind hatred.

Space Exploration And Tourism During The Cold War Of 1947
Previous to space colonization and tourism, one must explore the given planet; understanding the
problems and providing solutions to protect and aid the coming population. During the Cold War of
1947 through 1991, the United States and Russia fought for the accomplishment of space travel; the
moon was the primary target due to humans general understanding as well as the relative closeness to
the earth. Besides the sun, the moon was the utmost visible object in the sky. July 20, 1967, The U.S.
put the first man on the moon, One small step for man one giant leap for mankind. During December,
1972, Apollo 17 commander Gene Cernan set foot on the moon and is the last known man to do so.
Forty four years later, humans debate over whether or not man should set foot on the moon. Today, the
main question is, why humans should set foot on the moon? The company Space Exploration will
allow the furthering of scientific knowledge, improved energy crisis, international cooperation,
excavation of resources, bodily preparation for gravitational disadvantages, exploration preparation,
and surface liftoff medium. With the moon being three days away (with current technologies), humans
can improve overall understanding and life circumstances in relation to lunar exploration. The moon s
surface is primarily untouched land that is around 3 4.5 billion years old. This indicates that it still

Ethnic Demonstrations Of Indonesi The Toraja
There are numerous ethnic gatherings in Indonesia .One of them is the Toraja in South Sulawesi .The
word Toraja originates from the bugis dialect to raja significance meaning individuals of the uplands
(Klass et al,1999:45).This name occurred when the Dutch provincial government named them .In
toraja there is still religion called aluk todolo this runs nearby muslim and Christianity .In this article I
will inspect the torajan rituals and customs around myth, death and ancestor worship.
Toraja is roughly 3,180 square kilometers, initially intensely forested, has been changed by
development. The couple of remaining woods spread slants unacceptable for development. The main
method for subsistence is farming. Rice, cassava, and maize are the staples; espresso and cloves are
the vital money crops. (Bigalke,1981;13)Creature cultivation is practiced on a vast scale, however just
the rearing of pigs is of financial significance. The bison, a grown up toy, is once in a while utilised
for function as a part of the fields. The creature has principally a ritualised function, for the prevalent
kind of death feast requires many buffalo
The autochthonous religion of the Toraja is called Aluk To Dolo to dolo actually implies that is,
conviction of the old, or customs of the precursors. (Chambert et al 2002:117)In this religion,

Langston Hughes Poem Cubes
Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back from
France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of liberté, égalité, fraternité
(or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of the poem. The first two
stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being discussed. The second stanza then
goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the lives of the Senegalese in France.
Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present when they return to Senegal. The poem
shows that despite it being the French motto, these three things are not present in their society. In fact,
they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint .
In the first stanza, we hear about characters who do not have liberty. They are not free from these
things; instead, they are held back by them. Hughes says that the men are a little too drunk to sing ...

In the fourth stanza, Hughes s narrative returns to Senegal. Here we are introduced to
brotherhood/sisterhood felt between these people. He refers to a collective group of them as the back
girls in the palm huts (34). He indicates a sense of community between the men returning and the
women who have remained there. However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of disease
from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they are sharing
(which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French that is wholly
not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative relationship with the
French people, they go on to spread it to the Senegalese people through positive interactions. It starts

how the two definitions relate to or are applicable to the Medellin Cartel of Columbia led by Pablo
Escobar. In addition, this essay provides an analysis of Columbia s social climate during Escobar s

Escobar against his self image, how he signed his death warrant with the CIA/DEA and how his
weaknesses were discovered then used against him resulting in the collapse of his organization and his

These two definitions relate to and are applicable to Escobar who organized and led the Medellin
cartel of Columbia. Escobar aligned himself with an extensive network of individuals each duty bound
to handle a majority of his affairs. This network was divided into subgroups, each delegated to their
special assigned category that included, but not limited to, finances, social, military, personal, family,
public, economic, political, law enforcement, and the media. These groups and sub groups in return
received an unlimited amount of resources to handle affairs and protection from authorities or anyone
attempting to interfere or disrupt their business. By creating several branches to facilitate his
organization, this permitted his growth in influence and dominance. Each group separately handled his
outlets which afforded him the opportunity to succeed in many ways, but ultimately resulted in failure
as he became a distracted, confused, and disoriented leader. His organization was large, but through
his own mistakes or missteps the organization was dismantled further contributing to his expiration.
The organization was largely controlled by money and through violence. On a large scale, the
organization stretched out from his country to other countries that was well controlled allowing for
enormous profits and great power. Escobar sought compliance in every form and by any means
necessary.

Small Business Administration Research
According to Small Business Administration research, only half of new businesses survive for the first
five years and only a third of new businesses are able to survive for 10 years. The inverse is
compelling as we can conclude that if only 50% of new businesses survive for the first five years, then
the other 50% fail in the first five years. We can also conclude that about 65% of new businesses don t
make it to the ten year mark.
Forbes reports an even more grim statistic, based on Bloomberg research, that of every 10 businesses,
eight fail within the first 18 months. What are the reasons businesses fail to thrive, given a 50/50
chance of survival and assuming a product or service for which there s a demand? Let s discuss six
reasons businesses fail and some ways you can avoid business failure.
Six Reasons Businesses Fail
1. Leadership Failure. Your business can fail if you exhibit poor management skills, which can be
evident in many forms. You will struggle as a leader if you don t have enough experience making
management decisions, supervising a staff, or the vision to lead your organization. Perhaps your
leadership team is not in agreement on how the business should be run. You and your leaders may be
arguing with each other publicly or contradicting each other s instructions to the staff. When problems
requiring strong leadership occur, you may be reluctant to take charge and resolve the issues while
your business continues to slip toward failure.

Mental Health Parity Case Study
Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008
1. Identify the problem.
a. Identify the causes to which the problem is attributed.
Before 1996, health insurance companies were able to set their own arbitrary restrictions on how
much mental health coverage an insured individual receives. Often coverage for mental healthcare and
substance abuse treatment such as therapy sessions and hospital visits was severely restricted. As a
result, many people did not seek treatment for their mental health or substance abuse issues, even if
they were in desperate need of professional help (Foundations Recovery Network, 2016).
b. What are the values and beliefs that make the events of concern defined as a social problem?
All people in America should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Health plans have limited treatment of mental illnesses by covering fewer inpatient hospitalizations
and outpatient office visits, increasing cost sharing for mental health care by increasing deductibles
and copays, and imposing more stringent annual or lifetime dollar limits on mental health coverage
(Chamberlin, 2015). Even with the passing of The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act
(MHPAEA), there is not a uniform consensus about the extent to which state government should
require coverage for mental health (NCSL, 2015). There is a major role for social workers to push for
a uniform consensus in how state government should require coverage for mental health.
h. Is the problem adequately addressed by present social welfare and programs? Is there more or less
which should be done?
The problem is not adequately addressed because there are still people who work for employers that
fall under an exception to the MHPAEA. Examples of these exceptions are Self insured non Federal
governmental plans that have 50 or fewer employees, self insured small private employers that have
50 or fewer employees, group health plans and health insurance issuers that are exempt from
MHPAEA based on their increased cost, and large, self funded non Federal governmental employers
that opt out of the requirements of MHPAEA (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services,

Realism In Goodfellas

High and low angle shots can be a extremely effective technique if filmed correctly. Using these
techniques can create more dramatic, intense scenes that might not be as effective if using different
angle shots. Consider the scene where Karen lingers above Henry with a gun pointing at his head. This
is a good example of how low angle and high angle shots work alongside each other. For instance, in
the high angle shot of Karen, she is in the position of dominance. While the gun helps, the angle
shows Karen above Henry not only in a physical manner but visually as well. Because of the angle
Scorsese uses, Karen appears to have total dominance and control over the situation while reducing
Henry s power that he has established throughout the film. On the other hand, Henry is viewed from a
low angle shot with the gun pointed at his end. The position of the low camera angle shows Henry in a
helpless, defenseless manner with no clear positive outcome. The angle portrays Karen as a big,
overpowering presence as Henry is viewed as scared and vulnerable. Scorsese does a fantastic job
with manipulating angles and developing certain feelings from viewing these

Disney Fair Use
The first thing that should be done before anything else in this case, is the proper definition of fair use.
Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of copyrighted
materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is fair and
reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits
reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyright office states that these are the activities that
can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. So
to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use can be claimed if it does not
substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose any money for disney. The
strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary
on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright.
So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth: Disney
currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. With a share price of around $94 per share, that
puts Disney s market capitalization at roughly $150 billion. The Motley Fool. Looking at evidence ...

It is obvious that schools operations are largely based on political and economic reforms. Students are
encouraged to attend school in order to gain an education and as a result, to qualify in some form to
enter the workforce. Students from a very young age are exposed to hidden messages that suggest life
is equated with achieving well at school. Students are also exposed to a set curriculum content, which
often appears to be related to political movements at any given time. This formal curriculum allows
students to gain knowledge of how and why things are the way they are. The formal education that
students receive at school revolves around the content of the curriculum; however, there remains a
whole hidden curriculum of values and social orientations that students are constantly subject to
alongside this formal learning.
The Hidden Curriculum as it is known, operates more or less on the level of a mini society, making
students accustomed to the regulations, social values and norms of the broader society. As it is stated

Cultural Diversity And Tolerance Through Our Television...
Josh Obrien Canadian Studies 339 UCID #00278635 In Canada there is a strong reflection of our
cultural diversity and tolerance through our television shows, as they have the ability to use the
humour of realistic narratives and social dynamics to highlight social equality and intercultural

knowing Set would want to kill Horus as he already killed Osiris. Horus then became Set s enemy,
eventually defeating Set, thus avenging his father and assuming the rule. Horus emerged as a local god
in many places and with different names. Some of the names were Harmakhis Horus in the Horizon ,
Harpocrates Horus the Child and, Harsiesis Horus, Son of Isis (Horus, Encyclopedia). Horus became

Horus and the god Set were presented as perpetual antagonists who were reconciled in the harmony of
Upper and Lower Egypt. Featured as a royal man with the head of a falcon or hawk, Horus often holds

The definition of covenant is, a formal and serious agreement or promise (Merriam Webster). There are seven convents described in the Old Testament: Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Palestinian, Mosaic, Davidic and New Covenant. Some of these covenants are conditional and based on prerequisites and can be broken if the requirements are not met. God told Moses that if these rules were broken then Israel would be destroyed. The next covenant made to Moses explains the rules of the Sabbath: no work on the Sabbath (Ex 31:12 17), whoever violates it must be put to death (Ex 31:15). New Utopia Research Paper The New Utopia In the New Utopia, surveillance cameras will no longer be consider an act of violation of civil liberties or an invasion of privacy, but it will be the norm; surveillance cameras will be consider no different than what we nowadays consider a stop sign, a traffic light, or even the posted speed limit on the road way. To be able to stop crimes from happening, there is a need for law enforcement officers to be able to predict that a crime will occur in order to prevent it from happening. As human nature, we always tend to push the limits, if we can commit a crime and get away with it, for most that will may just be enough them to motivate them to follow through. One hundred years ago, the thought of having traffic lights or stop signs at every intersection to direct the movement of traffics would probably consider an act of violation of civil liberties; but imagine if we do not have it today, there would be chaos. While digging in the kings garden, Shuckron noticed two steps in the ground, and after getting clearance from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, they began to excavate that area, discovering the true location of the Siloam Pool. (Shanks, 88) The Pool was then identified to be a trapezoid shape and around 225 long, with steps on the at least three of the exteriors. Archaeologists were also able to identify that the pool went through two phases, and that the stone steps were a part of the second phase. In the first phase, the steps were actually plastered, not stone. They also found coins inside the plaster, which dated back to the assumed first phase of the pool. The coins were all dated back to the era of the Jewish king, Alexander Jannaeus, who would be succeeded by Herod the Great. Therefore, archaeologists can conclude that the pool was developed the late Hasmonean period or early Herodian period. Excavators also found Second Temple pottery, which had all been finished in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and coins from the First Jewish revolt against Rome, which lasted from 66 to 70 AD. A microgrid refers to a small electricity power system that is connected to the utility grid through the point of common coupling (PCC) and uses on site Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) for the supply of all or part of local demands. Microgrids comprise of a low voltage (approximately ≤ 1kV) or medium voltage (range 1 69 kV) locally controlled cluster of distributed energy resources that behave, from the grids perspective, as a single load both electrically and in energy markets. Fig. 1 shows the interaction between the two types of electrical systems and their corresponding components interlinked by the power converters. [4] From this figure, it can be revealed that the AC MGs can be connected to the bulk AC system via power transformers and require an AC/DC power converter to interconnect with the bulk DC system. Fig.1. Interconnection of various microgrid components.[4] A microgrid is introduced to resolve the issues with the economics and the resilience of power delivery systems. Microgrid loads get supplied by both the utility grid and on site generation when connected to the utility grid. A microgrid is seen as an aggregated controllable load from the utility grid. He got Derek to recruit other confused youths who were exacerbated by the colored and Mexican gangs that were enjoying a surge in street power Derek does a clever job rallying others into going along with his hate crimes, and horrendous acts of terror. One particularly ignorant recruit was named Seth was easily brain washed, thriving as an arbiter of hate. Together with the supremacist gang, they viciously attacked a Korean grocery store just because they were immigrants, and they knew people who used to work there. The vignette shows here that the veil of ignorance is so thick that Derek truly had himself believing that he was doing something honorable by defending his neighborhood. Instead, he infected his community with a fatal, insidious epidemic of blind hatred. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Significance Of The Character Of Sam s Mother 1B) Discuss the significance of the character of Sam s mother in Brazil. 300 Words Sam Lowry s mother, Ida, plays a significant role in the events of the film Brazil. She was always pushing Sam to better himself by moving up the bureaucratic ladder. This is something that did not interest Sam, in any way, as he was already fed up with his job and was looking for any excuse to escape this reality. During the Cold War of 1947 through 1991, the United States and Russia fought for the accomplishment of space travel; the moon was the primary target due to humans general understanding as well as the relative closeness to the earth. Besides the sun, the moon was the utmost visible object in the sky. July 20, 1967, The U.S. put the first man on the moon, One small step for man one giant leap for mankind. During December, 1972, Apollo 17 commander Gene Cernan set foot on the moon and is the last known man to do so. Forty four years later, humans debate over whether or not man should set foot on the moon. Today, the main question is, why humans should set foot on the moon? The company Space Exploration will allow the furthering of scientific knowledge, improved energy crisis, international cooperation, excavation of resources, bodily preparation for gravitational disadvantages, exploration preparation, and surface liftoff medium. With the moon being three days away (with current technologies), humans can improve overall understanding and life circumstances in relation to lunar exploration. • 28. Langston Hughes Poem Cubes Langston Hughes poem Cubes concerns itself with the idea of young men bringing disease back from France to Senegal. The layout of this poem is based on the French motto of liberté, égalité, fraternité (or liberty, equality, fraternity) which is mentioned in the third stanza of the poem. The first two stanzas of the poem refer to the lack of liberty for the people being discussed. The second stanza then goes on to talk about the many ways equality is missing from the lives of the Senegalese in France. Finally, the third stanza is about the fraternity that is present when they return to Senegal. The poem shows that despite it being the French motto, these three things are not present in their society. In fact, they are more present in Senegal. Liberty: freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint . In the first stanza, we hear about characters who do not have liberty. They are not free from these things; instead, they are held back by them. Hughes says that the men are a little too drunk to sing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this stanza also largely refers to the spread of disease from the men who have been in France to the people who never left Senegal. While they are sharing (which is a brotherly act in and of itself), they are sharing something from the French that is wholly not something that is wanted. Though the men gained disease through negative relationship with the French people, they go on to spread it to the Senegalese people through positive interactions. Small Business Administration Research According to Small Business Administration research, only half of new businesses survive for the first five years and only a third of new businesses are able to survive for 10 years. The inverse is compelling as we can conclude that if only 50% of new businesses survive for the first five years, then the other 50% fail in the first five years. We can also conclude that about 65% of new businesses don t make it to the ten year mark. Forbes reports an even more grim statistic, based on Bloomberg research, that of every 10 businesses, eight fail within the first 18 months. What are the reasons businesses fail to thrive, given a 50/50 chance of survival and assuming a product or service for which there s a demand? Let s discuss six reasons businesses fail and some ways you can avoid business failure. Six Reasons Businesses Fail 1. Leadership Failure. Your business can fail if you exhibit poor management skills, which can be evident in many forms. You will struggle as a leader if you don t have enough experience making management decisions, supervising a staff, or the vision to lead your organization. Perhaps your leadership team is not in agreement on how the business should be run. You and your leaders may be arguing with each other publicly or contradicting each other s instructions to the staff. When problems requiring strong leadership occur, you may be reluctant to take charge and resolve the issues while your business continues to slip toward failure. How to ... Before 1996, health insurance companies were able to set their own arbitrary restrictions on how much mental health coverage an insured individual receives. Often coverage for mental healthcare and substance abuse treatment such as therapy sessions and hospital visits was severely restricted. As a result, many people did not seek treatment for their mental health or substance abuse issues, even if they were in desperate need of professional help (Foundations Recovery Network, 2016). b. Health plans have limited treatment of mental illnesses by covering fewer inpatient hospitalizations and outpatient office visits, increasing cost sharing for mental health care by increasing deductibles and copays, and imposing more stringent annual or lifetime dollar limits on mental health coverage (Chamberlin, 2015). Even with the passing of The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA), there is not a uniform consensus about the extent to which state government should require coverage for mental health (NCSL, 2015). There is a major role for social workers to push for a uniform consensus in how state government should require coverage for mental health. h. Is the problem adequately addressed by present social welfare and programs? Is there more or less which should be done? High and low angle shots can be a extremely effective technique if filmed correctly. Using these techniques can create more dramatic, intense scenes that might not be as effective if using different angle shots. Consider the scene where Karen lingers above Henry with a gun pointing at his head. This is a good example of how low angle and high angle shots work alongside each other. For instance, in the high angle shot of Karen, she is in the position of dominance. While the gun helps, the angle shows Karen above Henry not only in a physical manner but visually as well. Because of the angle Scorsese uses, Karen appears to have total dominance and control over the situation while reducing Henry s power that he has established throughout the film. On the other hand, Henry is viewed from a low angle shot with the gun pointed at his end. The position of the low camera angle shows Henry in a helpless, defenseless manner with no clear positive outcome. The angle portrays Karen as a big, overpowering presence as Henry is viewed as scared and vulnerable. Merriam Webster s defines fair use as the following: a legal doctrine that portions of copyrighted materials may be used without permission of the copyright owner provided the use is fair and reasonable, does not substantially impair the value of the materials, and does not curtail the profits reasonably expected by the owner. The U.S. Copyright office states that these are the activities that can be claimed as fair use: criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. So to further analyze fair use, I shall share some observations. Fair use can be claimed if it does not substantially impair the worth of the movies used in the video, or lose any money for disney. The strategy can also be used if it is used in the context of criticizing, reporting, or providing commentary on something. Teaching, research, and scholarship are also forms protected by copyright. So first we will look at if Disney s profits are harmed, let s take a look at what disney is worth: Disney currently has about 1.61 billion shares outstanding. Josh Obrien Canadian Studies 339 UCID #00278635 In Canada there is a strong reflection of our cultural diversity and tolerance through our television shows, as they have the ability to use the humour of realistic narratives and social dynamics to highlight social equality and intercultural balance. It s important to normalize the community within the greater community so as not to be seen as the other but to recognize that we all have universal themes which exist in all communities. • 41. The Origin Of The Egyptian Religion Horus is one of the oldest and most meaningful deities in agent Egyptian religion. He was worshiped through the late predynastic period and through the Greco Roman times. From as far back as we know the Egyptians believed that Osiris was of divine origin, that he suffered death and mutilation at the hands of evil, and after a great struggle with these powers he rose again, that he then became the king of the underworld and judge of the dead, and because he had conquered death the honorable also might conquer death (Horus of Edfu). There is so much that we have learned about Horus, from who he was before he was a God, to who he symbolizes, and the different ways of representation. Horus s mother was the Goddess Isis and his father was Osiris. Isis fled from Set to give birth to Horus safely, knowing Set would want to kill Horus as he already killed Osiris. Horus then became Set s enemy, eventually defeating Set, thus avenging his father and assuming the rule. Horus emerged as a local god in many places and with different names. Some of the names were Harmakhis Horus in the Horizon , Harpocrates Horus the Child and, Harsiesis Horus, Son of Isis (Horus, Encyclopedia). Horus became the universal name for many different gods associated with falcons.
