The Whole Foods Market For Organic Foods And Encouraging...
Whole Foods Markets has been recognized as a leader in creating the modern market for organic
foods and encouraging suppliers to meet standards for humane treatment of farm animals. They
have also been in the news for violating Labor Laws in 2006. The company altered its sick leave
policy, froze wage increases, refused to provide information to the union that was necessary to
negotiate a contract, and harassed and disciplined employees. Furthermore, they fired two truck
drivers because they voted to unionize with the Teamsters. Investigators of National Labor
Relations Act (NLRB) had found that the company engaged in a variety of [illegal] retaliatory
measures to discourage union activity. An out of court settlement required Whole Foods... Show

Sociocultural Whole Foods Markets is more focused on environmentally and healthy foods
since consumers have become more health conscious about what they eat. For example, Whole
Foods announced that all food products in its U.S. and Canadian stores must be labeled to
indicate whether they contain genetically modified organisms (GMO). This would be done
through out all stores by 2018. Currently, the company offers over 25,000 certified organic items
and about 8,500 non GMO Project Verified products in its stores. The company has been
requiring its meat, dairy, egg and farmed seafood suppliers to verify whether or not animals were
fed GMO corn, soy or alfalfa. Their initiative will require products based on or containing GMO
risk ingredients to be labeled by manufacturers (GMO). Technological During a March 12, 2012
Conference, Walter Robb, co chief executive officer of Whole Foods, stated in his presentation at
the UBS Global Consumer Conference in Boston that retail and technology are completely
intertwined now, and customers are newly empowered through technology in all sorts of ways.
The two initiatives for Whole Food Market are enterprise systems and customer facing
technology. As a first initiative, Whole Foods is working to create a unified point of sale platform
that will seamlessly enable mobile and digital shopping. For customer facing technology, Whole
Foods s checkout process helps customers to buy a few items from in store

The Crying Of Lot 49
Trystero and the world around Oedipa are only simulations due to the fact that they have become
so layered with hyperrealism and even more simulations with all the characters Oedipa meets. She
is convinced that she is either uncovering a powerful conspiracy or she is going insane, but willing
to go wherever her investigation leads her in order to find meaning and truthbehind it anyway.
However, for Baudrillard, ...it is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate that fact that
there is nothing behind them (Baudrillard 169). In other words, in Oedipa s quest to unmask the
clues she finds, they are all simulations based upon other simulations without any truthful meaning
at their core.
The Crying of Lot 49 depicts these layers of simulation through the clues Oedipa finds that are
supposed to reveal the truth behind the word Tristero. Her first introduction to the word Tristero
comes from her encounter of the painting, Bordando el Manto Terrestre. The real life painting by
Spanish exile, Remedios Varo, which depicts women, embroidering a kind of tapestry which
spilled out the slit windows and into a void, seeking hopelessly to fill the void (Pynchon 11). A
further analysis is that she herself is one of these women in the painting, forever weaving the clues
and signs she receives, but ultimately attempting to fill an infinite void.
Next, Oedipa hears the word Trystero in a play called The Courier s Tragedy (Pynchon 49) Then
she sneaks backstage to find

As the name suggests, the United Nations (UN), is an intergovernmental organisation to promote
international co operation, where it s Security Council (SC) has a primary responsibility to
withhold peace and security (United Nations n.d.) across the globe. In regards to its primary
responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security, the SC has continued to
engage on an extreme agenda in accordance with the principles and objectives set forth in the
Charter of the United Nations(United Nations 2015). The UN was arranged to determine the

In association with the five permanent members (PM), this has allowed a realist hierarchy within
the UN system to be formed (Hardwick, 2011). To further demonstrate this, article 27 of the UN
Charter provides the requirements of the voting system, which states each member is entitled to
vote once and any decisions of the SC shall be made by an affirmative vote of nine of its members
(Voting system and records for the United Nations Security Council, 2016). This ensures that
decisions can be acted on rationally with the authorization to by at least nine members on the SC
that has to be met before action can be engaged.
However, a power is additionally given to the five PM that demonstrates key attributes of the
SC that does not reflect adequately in today s culture. As the creators of the UN charter granted
the special status of Permanent Member States to the five permanent nations, the PM were also
given a unique voting system, the veto power, also known as the right to veto (Voting system
and records for the United Nations Security Council, 2016). It was agreed that how the veto
would operate is that any of the five PM s disagrees on a vote in the 15 member SC, the action or
decision would not be approved and would have to be readdressed by the Council at a later date or
rejected. According to Deplano (n.d.) since individual resolutions of the SC do not set a precedent,
what constitutes a threat to or breach of international peace and security is

I Want To Be Miss America
A defining moment is a point at which a situation is clearly seen to start a change. Defining
moments can happen at any point in one s life. In class we read multiple of stories with different
defining moments. The two that stuck out to me were I Want to Be Miss America and Here s
Herbie . In I Want to Be Miss America , the defining moment came late for the two girls. Every
year they would watch the Miss America beauty pageant with their parents and strive and wish to
look american. So we painstakingly rolled our long, curly hair round and round, using our heads as
giant roller, ironing it until we had long, shining hanks, like our classmates and the contestants, only
darker. (92) They just wanted to fit in and to them that meant they needed to... Show more content

realized that they weren t that much different. They both had their problems. On the train ride

Ancient Indi The Ancient Indian Civilization
Kevin Maxim

Ancient India The ancient Indians were highly influenced by the Ganges river, in fact that was
one of the reasons they stayed around so long. This river gave them fertile soil, and also played a
big role in their religious practices. The ancient Indian civilization lasted from 3300 BC to 1500
BC. (Kokila) Ancient India had very broad social pyramid requirements and the classes were
servants, farmers, warriors and king, and the highest class which was above the king. If it were not
for the Ganges River or any other natural resource in the Indus Valley the ancient Indian
civilization would not have survived very long. The Ganges River is also sometimes referred to
as the Ganga River, and it played a big part in the survival of ancient India. Since it is known to
be a symbol of the goddess Ganga, the Ganga River also influenced the religious beliefs of
ancient India. It was believed by Hindus to be holy water and if you swam in it you would be
forgiven for all of your sins. (Ganga River) This river gave them fertile soil to grow crops on,
and without it the ancient Indian civilization would never have succeeded because they could not
have gone anywhere to grow crops and. (Ganga River) If it were not for the agriculture that the
river gave ancient India there would be no social class or government. The Ganges River and the
Himalayas combined to protect ancient India from invaders and other civilizations.

Nanocrystalline Materials Essay
Introduction To explain nanocrystalline materials, it should have been explained that nano
concept at first. Nanostructures are relatively new and interesting subject to investigate, they are
in a scale which is between 0 100 nanometers (1 nanometer, nm is equal to 10 9 meter). There are
some types of nanostructured materials such as lamellar (1 dimensional), filamentary (2
dimensional) and crystallites (3 dimensional). If grains of the material are made up of crystals,
then nanocrystalline materials term is what they are called. In this case, nanocrystalline materials
have grains which are the size of 100 nm typically. An example of nanocrystalline material of
SnO2 is imaged with STM as seen in Fig. 1 [1] and SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin
films as seen in Fig. 2. [2] Fig. 1. STM image of nanocrystalline SnO2 [1] Fig. 2. SEM image of
nanocrystalline diamond thin films. [2] In nanocrystalline materials there are numerous superior
properties which actually are very useful and promising about future works and applications. The
reason for the superior properties is that nanocrystalline materials have very high number of atoms
at their grain boundaries which are in nanometer scale. Some of the properties that can be enhanced
and increased by making nanocrystalline materials rather than the coarse grained materials are
higher strength, higher hardness, increased diffusivity, increased mechanical properties and so on

Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem
DISOBEDIENCE AS A PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MORAL PROBLEM2
Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem Erich Fromm
Erich Fromm s essay Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem suggests that
humankind s evolution has, and continues to rely on man s capability to exercise disobedience.
While discussing the positions of disobedience being considered a vice, and obedience being a
virtue, Fromm reflects upon the history of Adam and Eve believing that eating the forbidden fruit
was man s first act of disobedience. This is the point that broke the bond between man and nature
requiring man to be dependant upon his own powers, while rewarding him with his complete
humanity, freedom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He adds to this by introducing the concepts of rational and irrational authority, explaining that
rational authority would be equivalent to that of a teacher and student whereby there is mutual
benefit, while irrational authority would be identified by the likes of a slave and his owner who
demonstrates complete disregard of the slave s happiness or well being, his only interest being
how the slave will benefit him. Through a veil of lies man obeys the State, the Church, the mass
opinions of their peers, or any other organization that they view to be in power. This affords him
a false sense of safety and protection. In his obedience, man feels strong allowing him to be
controlled by the fear of being isolated or having undesirable repercussions greet him as a result
of any disobedience. Throughout history it has been evident that, for the most part, the few in
power have ruled over the majority. The foundation of this relationship has been the few equating
obedience with virtue and disobedience with sin, resulting in man not only needing to obey, but
wanting to obey. Man s inability to see that he has lost his ability to disobey and stand up for
what he believes and values, instead of what he has been brainwashed to believe and value, will
inevitably ensure the destruction of all civilization at the hand of man. Man s only saving grace
will be his ability to realize

African Americans Spread The Spirit Of Freedom
Throughout history, Americans have sought to spread the spirit of equality, which is believed to
be the realization of true freedom. Before establishing this freedom, every American had only
one question stuck in their head: What is freedom? Our country received it in the year of 1776
from the British through a series of difficulties and wars. African Americans defined it as an
escape from slavery, while immigrants defined it as their acceptance into a new society. More yet,
women of the women s suffrage defined their freedom as their recognition into society and for their
rights to be equal to that of every other man. These different perceptions of cultures/groups in
America tied together to form an American view of freedom. Freedom is... Show more content on

The American Identity, one that defines us all, would therefore be our courage and devotion
among all other emotions to stand up for our rights, independence, and our freedom. The War of
1812 signified a military conflict between the USA and the United Kingdom of Great Britain. It
s known for many things, but the most memorable event in this period was the writing of the
Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key. His devotion to his country and inspiration to do
anything for freedom led him to write this song, which eventually became our national anthem.
He once said, It seemed as though mother earth had opened and was vomiting shot and shell in a
sheet of fire and brimstone. (Francis Scott Key) The feeling that came across Scott s being was
a realization of true freedom. Both sides of the war had suffered losses, but America gained an
ability to sail and trade freely. Freedom shed light once again. Probably the most re known civil
rights movement was the struggle for former slaves to attain freedom. Among these slaves was
one who not only freed herself, but also freed a numerous amount of other slaves that she
encountered. This woman is known to us all as Harriet Tubman, but was known by the slaves as a
saint who helped them get their freedom. As said by Richard in Black Boy, My life as a Negro in
America had led me to feel...that the problem of humanity was more important than bread, more
important than physical living itself; for I felt that without a common

Personal Reflective and Goal Setting Strategies
Globalisation allows individuals, groups, corporations, and countries to reach around the world
farther, faster, more deeply, and more cheaply than ever before. Most large local companies regard
globalisation as opportunity, thereby exploring overseas markets for maximum market share and
optimum business strategies. However, managers would face a series of challenges caused by
leadership models, cultural backgrounds, political and economic risks, HR management, etc. To
study multinational management skills is very useful for my future career. In this essay, I will set
goals for this subject, identify the skills I have honed and need to improve, and explain my

short term goal, I plan to do overview of every case, search related background about cases, and
write down my thoughts and burning questions before case discussion with groupmates. Sufficient
preparation could help me to delivery my ideas in form of accuracy and honesty, so that I can
efficiently communicate and give supportive feedback in the discussion. Furthermore, through
preparing in advance and actively communicating, group members could get right orientation of
case and then clearly define key problems. In addition, there are three aspects of action plan for
improving teamwork skill. Firstly, I will share my information and experience as more as possible.
Active participation and contribution would bring impetus to work together. Secondly, when a
team gets together to solve a case, we would have to work through different opinions, methods, and
perspectives. I would cooperate with other members to dig out clues from different voices and then
identify useful data. Lastly, I would not restrict myself to one solution. In contrast, I would view all
alternatives with critical thinking, and then make a decision through group discussion.

Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report
Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure
aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy.
To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with
HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are
found below:
2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g)
2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl,
producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of Hв‚‚O into a previously weighed beaker.
The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was
subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown
above and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling
the first objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into
a mass fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for
both reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab
manual.
Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. The first two trials were
set up to ultimately record the experimental molar mass of aluminum, and the last two trials were
set up to record the percentages of aluminum to zinc in an unknown alloy. The purpose of two trials

Personal Reflective Personal Reflection
I have been long time away from practice as doctor because I came to the Uk and I am trying to
register as doctor to continue my career, while I am doing that I was working in the medical
field in different role as health care assistant (HCA) in general practice that experience helps me
to be familiar with NHS system and improve my communication skills ,also I got an experience
in wound management by doing wound dressing so I have learnt everyone has a vital role in
health team, However When I started my MSC course I felt that I return to my career and I can
deserve what I am looking for in my medical future and I will do my best to succeed in spite of
difficulty that I have.
This section focuses on important lesson that I have learnt in this module CCMP is reflection
which consider a form of response of learner to experience.
Learning from experience is a sub conscious activity and it is not until the learner forms thoughts
at a conscious level that means fully understand the experience and learn from it, this is
facilitated by refection role awareness and how to be processed. (Boud et al. 1985:19) I know
that I was thinking about my experience that I had but I have learnt how to think critically in
practical way to learn from what I have done in the past and analyse that by asking myself if I
need to change in my previous experience or I am on the right track, this is called reflection on
action.
Reflection on action involves reflecting on how practice can be developed or changed after the
event that it will be achieved by thinking back on what we have done in order to discover how our
knowing in action may have contributed to an unexpected outcome (Schön, 1983, p. 26).
To be practical you have to follow steps first what the experience that happens then interpreting
how it was and what is to be done and how will be achieved then learn next time if you expose to
the same situation what you will do. However, I will use Gibbs cycle as a model to reflect my
journey in this module.
The module contains a variety of sessions classroom based that enhance understanding of different
theory and encourage us to do further reading through using links or guided resource relevant to the

Figurative Language In Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
Quoth the Raven, Nevermore is undoubtedly one of the most popular lines ever written in poetry.
Even those unfamiliar with the works of the author that uttered this will have some faint inkling of
recognition when met with this line. However, those who examine and take the time to analyze the
stylistic elements of poetryrecognize that techniques like symbolism, figurative language, and
repetition, such as the repetition of the phrase nevermore, are designed to impact the reader and are
utilized by the author to create a desired effect. Edgar Allan Poe, the poet responsible for many
works of literature such as The Raven, Annabel Lee, The Haunted Palace uses symbolism, extended
metaphor, and repetition to make the mood of his poems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prominent example of extended metaphor is when Edgar Allan Poe utilizes the symbol of a
palace/castle in The Haunted Palace to represent someone s mind. At the beginning, Poe writes,
Once a fair and stately palace Radiant palace reared its head / In the monarch Thought s
dominion, It stood there! At this point in the poem, the palace, or mind, is fair and working well.
Later, however, Poe begins to describe how ...evil things, in robes of sorrow/ Assailed the
monarch s high estate introducing a shift from the previously happy image of a calm, beautiful
palace, now somber and ghastly. The tone of the poem, through introducing this extended
metaphor, thus shifted to become sorrowful and regretful. Another popular example of repetition
from Poe s work is the repetition of the phrase, Nevermore, throughout The Raven. At the
beginning, when the bird just arrived, nevermore represented hope, such as when Poe writes, Till
I scarcely more than muttered Other friends have flown before /On the morrow he will leave me,
as my Hopes have flown before. / Then the bird said Nevermore. This shows that the bird showed
up as symbol to comfort the narrator and distract him from Lenore s death. However, throughout the
poem, phrase nevermore begins to get more and more frustrating, as now, the raven is using it to

Lab Report Miscible Liquid Water And 1-Propanol
Introduction The lab was a distillation lab that involved 2 miscible liquids, water and 1 propanol in
a 50% volume per volume mixture. These two solutions created an azeotrope where the two liquids
have a constant boiling point throughout the distillation. The method used to distill the 1 propanol
was fractional distillation, this involved packed fractionating columns that were attached to a
distilling flask, when the hot vapour hit the cold packaging, the Liebig condenser, it was
condensed. This was repeated many times so the final solution condensed was most likely pure 1
propanol. This is called refluxing, where the liquid is condensed and returned to liquid. [1]
There are many real life applications of distillation that are used everyday, ... Show more content on

As soon as there wasn t enough 1 propanol the boiling point shot up to 93В°C. In this case the
solution of water and 1 propanol acted as ideal liquids where the lower boiling point liquid
distilled first and then the higher boiling point liquid. There also was a minimum and maximum
boiling point observed. This distillation method is quite efficient, this was determined by
calculating the percent error for the experiment (shown in the appendix). A 5.34% error is very
low, this means that 95% of what is theoretically possible to distill from this mixture was actually
collected when performing the experiment. The apparatus used for the distillation involved
having the thermometer in a silicone pocket. This is due to the fact that silicone improves
thermal conductivity rather than just having the thermometer in the air or in the mixture of
water and propanol. Silicone has a thermal conductivity of 0.1 compared to 0.58 of water [4].
The optimal drop rate was at 15 20 drops per minute, if the drop rate was lower the lab would
take a long time to complete, which is very inefficient. However, a higher drop rate would increase
the possibility of missing the boiling point change. Boiling chips were added to the round bottom
flask, their purpose was to ensure the mixture boils smoothly so the solution doesn t get superheated
or boil

In September 2013, a male Saudi cleric, Sheikh Saleh Al Loheidan, claimed that women who
drive will have reproductive issues and their babies will be born with clinical problems (Jamjoom,
2013). This is believed to be in response to a movement protesting the laws against women driving.
The fact that women are banned from driving themselves where they need to go hinders the ability
to get to medical appointments without a chaperone, or walking. On October 26, 2013, a
demonstration was planned for women activists to post video of themselves driving to protest the
ban. Women are serving jail time for violating these laws (Jamjoom, 2013).
As is custom, women must be accompanied by a male chaperone from her family, such as, her
husband, father, brother, or son. This is for the women s protection. Where this becomes
problematic in the healthcare setting is during the patient interview and exam. In 1993, a physician

medicine and many of the difficulties he faced are still relevant today. Dr. Sullivan was unable to

With rapid change in the economic environment managers and scholars have been motivated to

Conversely Jessica Miller from the SHRM Blog suggests that the effectiveness of parental strategic
management is curtailed by its design limitations. The alignment of the policy or practice defines
how a convention fits within a workplace structure, therefore ineffective strategy is usually
preceded by poor structural fit rather than poor implementation. Miller infers that both good and
bad parenting will have reciprocal impacts on a workforce . Academic studies support these
findings, Huselid (1997) performed a cluster analysis of four firms with different HR strategies. The
weak clusters were characterised by poorly planned human capital goals that were irrelevant to the
workplace. The high performance clusters reflected smart design supported with effective
communication and above average levels of management support. The correlation of alignment and
effectiveness of HR strategy is consistent with the prior work of Gehart Milkovich (1992) that poor
design is the underlying trait for 75% of failed SHRM policies. Human capital measurement is an
elusive concept (Becker, 2002) and therefore empirical analysis has inherent inaccuracies. However
both the anecdotal and empirical findings both suggest parental strategic management has an
immediate impact on the workforce. They also cohesively support the concept that design, rather
than implementation, is the

Cultural Awareness And Characteristics Within The...
Cultural Awareness and characteristics within the Afghanistan culture. There are five major
characteristics that define a culture; they are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic.
Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is
unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of
learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as
food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared.
Because we share culture with other members of our group, we are able to act in socially
appropriate ways as well as predict how others will act. Despite the shared nature of culture, that
doesn t mean that culture is homogenous (the same). The multiple cultural worlds that exist in any
society are discussed in detail below. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that
stands for something else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They only have meaning
when people in a culture agree on their use. Language, money and art are all symbols. Language is
the most important symbolic component of culture. Culture is integrated. This is known as holism,
or the various parts of a culture being interconnected. All aspects of a culture are related to one
another and to truly understand a culture, one must learn about all of its parts, not only a few.
Culture is dynamic. This simply means that cultures

The Impact Of Facebook On The Campus Of Harvard University...
The story of Facebook begins on the campus of Harvard University. Whether the inspiration for
the site originated with Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra or the
founder and current CEO Mark Zuckerberg is debatable. For the sake of thoroughness, the story
will begin with the Winklevoss. In 2003 the Winklevoss twins were seniors at Harvard
University both majoring in economics, together with fellow Harvard senior Divya Narendra
they were searching for a web designer to help them create a site to be titled
HarvardConnections.com, according to the three they had come up with this idea in their junior
year at Harvard. The plan for HarvardConnections.com was that it would be a networking site for
Harvard students and alumni, users would be able to create profiles, add friends, and send
messages to one another (Zuckerberg often referred to it as a dating site). Initially the Winklevoss
twins and Narendra dictated the coding of their website to Sanjay G. Mavinkurve but once he
graduated and went on to work at Google they began to pay Victor Y. Gao to code for them. Soon
however, Gao also left the project but recommended that the three should contact Mark Zuckerberg
to replace him. Mark Zuckerberg originally from Dobbs Ferry, New York was a sophomore
student at Harvard at the time. Mark Zuckerberg, incidentally, was already a bit famous among
students at Harvard during the time because of his creation of Facemash. The website Facemash

It is necessary to know about the variation of effects of hypoxia if any on the persons depending
on their age and sex. As the effects of hypoxia may or may not present for a long time, it is
necessary to conduct tests on the pilots regarding hypoxia for each flight or in some airlines,
they test pilots for the effects of hypoxia before each flight (Sharma L: 2007) so that necessary
medication could be given. However, according to Good W.A (1991, 104) the performance of the
pilots might be degraded with both prescribed and over the counter medications as well as by the
medical conditions for which they are taken (Good W.A; 1991, 104). Normally, the medicines of
hypoxia are sedative, tranquilizer or antihistamine. These medicines make a pilot much more
susceptible to hypoxia (Good W.A; 1991, 104) and hence it is necessary for the pilots to minimize
the use of over the counter medicines. In addition to the above precautions alcohol can impair the
pilot even many hours after its consumption and digestion due to hangover. The impairment of pilot
may cause flight accidents and some of the major accidents give ground to the argument that
hypoxia may be the reason for the inability that caused

Health Services And Health Care
Introduction:
Access to comprehensive, quality health care services is important for the achievement of health
equity and for increasing the quality of a healthy life for everyone (Healthy People 2020). Access
to health services means the timely use of personal health services to attain the best health outcomes.
Access to care is important because it delivers gaining entry to the health care system which
impacts the overall aspects of health; Access is also the key to early detection of illnesses,
disease prevention and overall better outcomes. (Healthy People 2020). In my department, access
to care is critical because of the type of population that we deal with. Limited access to health care
impacts people s ability to reach their full potential, negatively affecting their quality of life and in
some can make a difference between life and death.

Neal didn t know anyone in Portland. He never knew anyone in any city he traveled to on

Father In Ernest Hemingway s In Our Time
There are many things that make a man, a father, some think that they become a father when
their spouse gave birth to their baby. I personally think that is not true, they should not be given
the title father unless they show that they can be a father. An example of one is when the guy
that got his spouse pregnant, leaves as soon as he hears the news. In the books In our Time the
guys in the stories do not leave the spouse with the baby, in fact 2 of the fathers are raising their
kid by themselves, so they deserve the title father . The father s in the book are different in their
many ways. Let us start with Nick s father, he is a well educated doctor, professional, doesn t get

countries send emissaries to explore and establish trade with native, but in that case same other

they need. The word imperializem in my attention came as a domination by one country of the
political, economic or cultural life of another country. We have to be clear with what happened in
Africaand the region which represents a great rich country for materials and get attention of many
European country for goods and wealth potential. Europian estabilished colonies in the African
coastal region became more aggresive later on once they were expanding into other lands. We can
see that in the names Africa s countries have under the colony. For example, the Belgian Congo
instead of The Congo, Anglo Egypyian Sudan istead of Sudan, or German Southwest Africa
Namibia insted of Namibi. Those countries have both Europian and African names which means
that they belong and under which power rule they are. However, The African countries nowadays

Being A Practicing Surgeon, Atul Gawande Essay
Being a practicing surgeon, Atul Gawande approaches the dilemma of aging from a unique
perspective. The study and implementation of traditional medical practices, he suggests,
contributes to a problem solving, solution based approached to over coming the hurdles of old
age. The medical field, he says, puts the entirety of its focus on fixing the concrete problems that
patients come into the emergency room with, instead of focusing on the best overall solution to
satisfy the patients primary desires at the end of life. It is a very valid and important point. Why
put tens of thousands of dollars into a chemotherapy treatment plan to lengthen a persons life, if it
only ends up yielding a few extra weeks and causes tremendously more pain and suffering? At what
point does being alive become not worth it, especially when the patient sees not benefit, but more
suffering? This is the issue within the modern medical system that bridges the gap with medicine
and agingstudies. Aging studies, with its theories and concepts, hopes to present a solution to the
problem that Gawande points out in such detail and with so many personal examples. How can the
things that are most important to the patient be provided without all the intrusiveness and
extraordinary expenditures of our healthcare mentality? In summary, aging studies seeks to mend
the discontinuity between the stone faced objectivity of medical solutions and, as Gawande puts it,
what matters in the end .

English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton
English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without
wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that
renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and
hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which lovesits upon.
Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its
heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability,
compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion,
to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for.
Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be
lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual,
and permanent. It is true.
The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the
classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring
houses. The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of
the man s love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her. He states, She takes
your heart with the flash edge of her

Psychoanalysis In Catcher In The Rye
J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye is regarded as a seminal work of fiction with many
psychological and social themes, particularly those related to personal development and the
transition out of childhood. In this paper, The Catcher in the Rye will be analyzed from the basis
of an Adlerian psychoanalytic perspective with a particular emphasis on personality development
and the influence of siblings and birth order. This analysis will center around the main character of
Salinger s story, Holden , who appears to have developed an inferiority complex in his early life
which he attempts to make up for with antisocial and dishonest de identification behaviour. The
Adlerian model of psychoanalysisis ideally suited for the character of Holden and provides a
number of insights into the influences upon Holden, the state of his mind and the motivations that
make up his unique character. Alfred Adler, a renowned and highly influential psychologist who
came to prominence in the early part of the 20th century coined the term family constellation ,
which served as a metaphor to describe the influence of familial bonds and dynamics upon the
personality development of individuals, particularly children. Adler s conception of the family
constellation has been adopted and studied extensively since his time. Rudolf Dreikurs built upon
Adler s work some years later, and vouched for the usefulness of the family constellation
perspective in psychoanalytic work: A clear formulation

approaches are outlined.

Schizophrenia: A Review of Treatment and Interventions
The American Psychiatric Association [APA] (2013) defines schizophrenia as a debilitating
psychotic disorder that involves delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, grossly
disorganized or catatonic behaviors and negative symptoms. Beidel, Frueh Hersen (2014) explain
that schizophrenia impairs social functioning especially in areas that relate to daily living; this
includes maintaining social relationships and intellectual functioning. Positive symptoms (e.g.
hallucinations), negative symptoms (e.g. social withdrawal), cognitive impairment (e.g. memory
problems), and mood related issues (e.g. anxiety) are most common in individuals who are
diagnosed with schizophrenia (Beidel, Frueh Herson, 2014, p.166).
Different interventions to treat schizophrenia have been explored. There is no specific treatment
that has proven to reduce symptoms definitively. Individualized treatments along with psychosocial
models have yielded positive results in the reduction of psychosis. The use of

The Role Of An Aging Population In The United States
The United States population over 65 years of age is increasing as the baby boomers reach
retirement age. Greater life expectancy is a result of people living longer with better nutrition,
healthcare, and management of chronic diseases. In the primary care setting, where I work, we
have a large patient population of older adults. Caring for middle aged and elderly patients requires
greater time and intensity than caring for most younger patients. It is not unusual for an elderly
patient to have six or more chronic conditions and twelve or more prescription medications which
require coordination and monitoring. Updated HIPAA consents and HealthCare Proxy documents
are essential to providing seamless care. Since primary care involves repeated encounters with
patients over time, I am quite familiar with many of my patients and their families and, when

Psychoanalysis and Sigmund Freud
Psychoanalysis is one of the founding approaches to psychotherapy and this specific approach
was founder by Austrian born psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. This approach to psychotherapy
has evolved ever since the 1800s when it was first developed and this will be very clear in the
following essay in that different theories and components of the approach will be discussed and
they will also be used to analyse Wendy and come to decisions about how she is presenting in
therapy based on these components of psychoanalysisapproach. Psychoanalysis as an approach
founded by Freud focuses on what is called the unconscious material and how this material
affects the individual (Yakeley, 2014). This essay will specifically look at Freud s drive theory
and the Object Relations Theory as these are the theories of the psychoanalytic approach that are
best suited to Wendy s, thus evidence supporting this statement will be presented in the essay. The
second part of the essay will be a discussion regarding the cultural aspects of Wendy s case and
how this impacts on the psychoanalysis approach. However, before that can be done, one will need
to provide the reader with insight on what psychoanalysis is.
The psychoanalysis approach deals with improving disorders that interfere with the day to day
function of an individual. Therapists who make use of this approach focus mainly on the individual
s developmental history (Ivey, 1997) and the unconscious of the client in order to reach a point at

Selective Encryption Algorithm for Highly Confidential...
1. Introduction
Conventional cryptographic algorithms, which are generally aimed at encrypting like text data
(known as NaГЇve approach) not well suited for video encryption. This is due to the fact that
conventional cryptographic algorithms cannot process the large volume of video data in real time.
Selective encryption of the H.264/AVC bitstream puts decoder to fully decode the encrypted video
with degradation in video quality. This perceptual encryption has low encryption and decryption
time. The video data are compressed to reduce the storage space required and to save bandwidth for
transmission. Video compression removes redundancy, so that it is difficult to guess about a portion
of a compressed bitstream to another. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From an attacker s point of view, brute force attack may break the encryption of sign bit and
level_suffix of the same length. Intra prediction mode has only nine different values (0 8). Hence,
the encryption of intra prediction mode also has the threat of brute force attack. So, the values of
level_suffix with sign bits are encrypted with a higher length of bitstream (6 bits for luma and 4
bits for chroma), to reduce the threat of brute force attack. However, this affects the compression
bandwidth.
We have also analyzed that without making motion vectors encryption, we can t obtain temporal
redundancy. Motion vector encryptions are proposed by several authors [4 9]. However, analysis
shown in this paper said that 45 50% of motion vectors for each frame are not encrypted. Thus, a
better encryption method is proposed at here in expense with compression bandwidth. Overall, we
should create the balance between security and the increase in compression bandwidth.
Four selective encryption methods are discussed here. A First method named NZs in CAVLC
encrypts level_suffix values with sign bits of up to three lowest frequency non zero DCT
coefficients in CAVLC encoding for all macroblocks. Second method named NZs in CAVLC for I
only , which is same as the first method but encryption is done only in intra coded macroblocks.
Third method named MV

Theme Of Rage In The Thousand And One Nights
The Thousand and One Nights, is a frame tale, where there are stories within stories, in which all
the tales included have a connection. The overall frame of the tale is the transformation of a

by her infidelity. As the overall tale continues, stories come into perspective and back up the
main topic of the story by using its own issues as examples. When reading the recurring theme in
the overall frame and the stories within the story is rage. There is a frequency in the tales, in
where an issue occurs then it enrages the subject, which causes a consequence that affects the

Essay on The Four Political Parties Of Canada
The Four Political Parties of Canada
In a country as vast and as culturally diverse as Canada, many different political opinions can be
found stretched across the country. From the affluent neighbourhoods of West Vancouver to the
small fishing towns located on the east coast of Newfoundland, political opinions and affiliations
range from the left wing to the right wing. To represent these varying political views, Canada has
four official national political parties to choose from: the Liberals (who are currently in power), the
Progressive Conservatives, the New Democrats, and the
Reform Party. What is particularly interesting is that none of the latter three parties compose Her
Majesty s Official Opposition in the House ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1933, the CCF had its first major convention in Regina, Saskatchewan, and the original policy
platform first proposed by the CCF was replaced by a manifesto prepared by an LSR committee and
originally drafted by a Toronto scholar, Frank
Underhill. The Regina Manifesto, as it is known as today, put emphasis on
economic planning, nationalisation of financial institutions, public utilities and natural resources,
security of tenure for farmers, a national labour code, socialised health services and greatly
increased economic powers for the central government. (Morton, p.12, 1986) As a supplement to the
feverish mood created by the convention, the Regina convention concluded by saying no CCF
Government will rest content until it has eradicated capitalism and put into operation the full
programme of socialised planning which will lead to the establishment in
Canada of the Co operative Commonwealth. (Morton, p.12, 1986). The CCF tried to garner

What Is The Reflection Of The Private Life Of Henry Viii
The goal of The Private Life of Henry VIII was to show King Henry s life behind closed doors.
As king, Henry needed to put on a very masculine, tough, and stern image to protect his people,
but behind the scenes, he was a hopeless romantic searching for someone to rule with. He hides
his soft side from everyone in the kingdom, which the movie accurately shows. At first, the
movie portrays Henry in a negative light. He seems very evil: killing one wife and immediately
marrying the next. He is short with his courts people and comes off profoundly uncultured. At his
meals, he devours his food and throws the bones on the floor. He is constantly needing to be
cleaned up after and watched. Even though he shows this ignorant side to everyone else, he
secretly cares about his image and how he acts. He goes to get his beard trimmed and comes down
his hair before he talks to a woman he is interested in. When he talks to Catherine Howard, his fifth
wife, he knocks on the door before coming in. He talks sweetly to her and isn t short with her.
Although he portrayed this tough guy with the kingdom, he was a teddy bear at heart hoping for
love and affection. Henry didn t always want an everlasting love. Jane Seymours (his third wife),
life was hardly even shown. The movie showed when the maids were preparing the bed for their
wedding night and not much else. Henry had an appetite for sex and didn t really care about the
woman herself. He even makes a comment saying, If you

The American Dream Is The Key To Good Life Essay
Life is a beautiful thing. It can be created out of almost nothing and it has been spurring on this
Earth for billions of years. We as humans have learned so much about ourselves and other
organisms, yet the method of creating it has escaped us for as long as we can remember.
Perhaps our feeble minds are not imaginative enough to unlock the secrets of the universe. Let us
be concerned with other things while we slowly advance in time. Things such as making the
most out of ourselves and the life we were given, to lead a good life. But what is a good life?
Some say the American Dream is the key to a good life. An ideology that is specific to the United
States, but can be applied anywhere, it deals with the pursuit of happiness and being successful....

We as humans have the ability to form intense emotional bonds with not only other humans, but
other animals. This is why we have the instinct to protect what we love, this is why we can
become so close with our family, our significant other, or our dog. Tying this together with doing
things that you love may be a basic formula for happiness. Being happy is almost certainly key to
a great life. If you are not happy with yourself, there is no way you can be happy with your life.
We remedy this by finding things that make us happy, hence the pursuit of happiness. This,
unlike the others is actually an easily proven method to enjoy life. You do not need heaps of
money or the fame in the spotlight to finally say that it was all good. So that is settled then,
happiness is all you need right? Unfortunately this is still not the case for many people. Many
times greed can be the sole provider for some individuals. The seven deadly sins actually do a
decent job of covering how bad in life can outweigh the good. It would be ignorant to assume
they are forever out of reach of happiness as they can fully experience it, within their own terms if
need be. There is a bit of them within all of

Narrative About Jasper
Jasper lives pretty far from my apartment. We ve been driving for about half an hour. So, what s on
the menu? I ask, turning the music down. Jasper likes a wide variety of music but his favorite is
old bands like AC/DC, The Beatles, Guns n Roses, The Red Hot Chili peppers, and Bon Jovi. I
would have taken Jasper for the type of guy to like nothing but classical music. I guess I shouldn t
judge a handsomely dressed book by its cover. It s a surprise. He answers. Is it a surprise or do you
just not know yet? I ask. He laughs. The second one. He answers and turns the music back up.
We get to his place, it looks like a huge property. There are many trees and lots of green grass
around. A few patches of wildflowers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What about you? I ask. I believe we re alone. He answers. How so? I ask. All of these other
planets we re discovering and still no signs of life. My theory is that our planet is the last one to
have life on it. Something happened and all of the other planets are just empty and lifeless.
Earth is the last planet to sustain life and we as humans are killing it. He answers. That s an
interesting theory. What do you think killed the other planets? I ask. A plague of some kind,
maybe humans did. All I know is something did. He answers. I sit up and look at Jasper. What? He
asks and sits up too. I don t say anything, I just kiss him. He kisses me back. When he kisses me, it
s not like the fireworks some people describe. It s more like magma moving in my chest. Just hot,
hot fire that cannot be quenched. He pulls back and looks into my eyes. Jasper, I love you. I say. I
can t believe I just said it. What if he doesn t feel the same way? What if I m moving us along too
fast? I ve messed up. This is it. We re done. I love you.. Too.. He replies, gently grazing his
knuckles along my jawline. I wanted to say it

Whole Foods Markets has been recognized as a leader in creating the modern market for organic foods and encouraging suppliers to meet standards for humane treatment of farm animals. They have also been in the news for violating Labor Laws in 2006. The company altered its sick leave policy, froze wage increases, refused to provide information to the union that was necessary to negotiate a contract, and harassed and disciplined employees. Furthermore, they fired two truck drivers because they voted to unionize with the Teamsters. Investigators of National Labor Relations Act (NLRB) had found that the company engaged in a variety of [illegal] retaliatory measures to discourage union activity. Sociocultural Whole Foods Markets is more focused on environmentally and healthy foods since consumers have become more health conscious about what they eat. For example, Whole Foods announced that all food products in its U.S. and Canadian stores must be labeled to indicate whether they contain genetically modified organisms (GMO). This would be done through out all stores by 2018. Currently, the company offers over 25,000 certified organic items and about 8,500 non GMO Project Verified products in its stores. The company has been requiring its meat, dairy, egg and farmed seafood suppliers to verify whether or not animals were fed GMO corn, soy or alfalfa. Their initiative will require products based on or containing GMO risk ingredients to be labeled by manufacturers (GMO). Technological During a March 12, 2012 Conference, Walter Robb, co chief executive officer of Whole Foods, stated in his presentation at the UBS Global Consumer Conference in Boston that retail and technology are completely intertwined now, and customers are newly empowered through technology in all sorts of ways. The two initiatives for Whole Food Market are enterprise systems and customer facing technology. • 3. The Crying Of Lot 49 Trystero and the world around Oedipa are only simulations due to the fact that they have become so layered with hyperrealism and even more simulations with all the characters Oedipa meets. She is convinced that she is either uncovering a powerful conspiracy or she is going insane, but willing to go wherever her investigation leads her in order to find meaning and truthbehind it anyway. However, for Baudrillard, ...it is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate that fact that there is nothing behind them (Baudrillard 169). In other words, in Oedipa s quest to unmask the clues she finds, they are all simulations based upon other simulations without any truthful meaning at their core. The Crying of Lot 49 depicts these layers of simulation through the clues Oedipa finds that are supposed to reveal the truth behind the word Tristero. Her first introduction to the word Tristero comes from her encounter of the painting, Bordando el Manto Terrestre. The real life painting by Spanish exile, Remedios Varo, which depicts women, embroidering a kind of tapestry which spilled out the slit windows and into a void, seeking hopelessly to fill the void (Pynchon 11). A further analysis is that she herself is one of these women in the painting, forever weaving the clues and signs she receives, but ultimately attempting to fill an infinite void. Next, Oedipa hears the word Trystero in a play called The Courier s Tragedy (Pynchon 49) Then she sneaks backstage to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In regards to its primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security, the SC has continued to engage on an extreme agenda in accordance with the principles and objectives set forth in the Charter of the United Nations(United Nations 2015). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In association with the five permanent members (PM), this has allowed a realist hierarchy within the UN system to be formed (Hardwick, 2011). To further demonstrate this, article 27 of the UN Charter provides the requirements of the voting system, which states each member is entitled to vote once and any decisions of the SC shall be made by an affirmative vote of nine of its members (Voting system and records for the United Nations Security Council, 2016). This ensures that decisions can be acted on rationally with the authorization to by at least nine members on the SC that has to be met before action can be engaged. However, a power is additionally given to the five PM that demonstrates key attributes of the SC that does not reflect adequately in today s culture. As the creators of the UN charter granted the special status of Permanent Member States to the five permanent nations, the PM were also given a unique voting system, the veto power, also known as the right to veto (Voting system and records for the United Nations Security Council, 2016). It was agreed that how the veto would operate is that any of the five PM s disagrees on a vote in the 15 member SC, the action or decision would not be approved and would have to be readdressed by the Council at a later date or rejected. Ancient Indi The Ancient Indian Civilization Kevin Maxim Mr. Ball 8th Grade Social Studies E Block 6 November 2015 Ancient India The ancient Indians were highly influenced by the Ganges river, in fact that was one of the reasons they stayed around so long. This river gave them fertile soil, and also played a big role in their religious practices. The ancient Indian civilization lasted from 3300 BC to 1500 BC. (Kokila) Ancient India had very broad social pyramid requirements and the classes were servants, farmers, warriors and king, and the highest class which was above the king. If it were not for the Ganges River or any other natural resource in the Indus Valley the ancient Indian civilization would not have survived very long. The Ganges River is also sometimes referred to as the Ganga River, and it played a big part in the survival of ancient India. Since it is known to be a symbol of the goddess Ganga, the Ganga River also influenced the religious beliefs of ancient India. It was believed by Hindus to be holy water and if you swam in it you would be forgiven for all of your sins. (Ganga River) This river gave them fertile soil to grow crops on, and without it the ancient Indian civilization would never have succeeded because they could not have gone anywhere to grow crops and. • 8. Nanocrystalline Materials Essay Introduction To explain nanocrystalline materials, it should have been explained that nano concept at first. Nanostructures are relatively new and interesting subject to investigate, they are in a scale which is between 0 100 nanometers (1 nanometer, nm is equal to 10 9 meter). There are some types of nanostructured materials such as lamellar (1 dimensional), filamentary (2 dimensional) and crystallites (3 dimensional). If grains of the material are made up of crystals, then nanocrystalline materials term is what they are called. In this case, nanocrystalline materials have grains which are the size of 100 nm typically. An example of nanocrystalline material of SnO2 is imaged with STM as seen in Fig. 1 [1] and SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films as seen in Fig. 2. [2] Fig. 1. STM image of nanocrystalline SnO2 [1] Fig. 2. SEM image of nanocrystalline diamond thin films. [2] In nanocrystalline materials there are numerous superior properties which actually are very useful and promising about future works and applications. The reason for the superior properties is that nanocrystalline materials have very high number of atoms at their grain boundaries which are in nanometer scale. Some of the properties that can be enhanced and increased by making nanocrystalline materials rather than the coarse grained materials are higher strength, higher hardness, increased diffusivity, increased mechanical properties and so on [3]. Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem DISOBEDIENCE AS A PSYCHOLOGICAL AND MORAL PROBLEM2 Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem Erich Fromm Erich Fromm s essay Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem suggests that humankind s evolution has, and continues to rely on man s capability to exercise disobedience. While discussing the positions of disobedience being considered a vice, and obedience being a virtue, Fromm reflects upon the history of Adam and Eve believing that eating the forbidden fruit was man s first act of disobedience. This is the point that broke the bond between man and nature requiring man to be dependant upon his own powers, while rewarding him with his complete humanity, freedom, ... He adds to this by introducing the concepts of rational and irrational authority, explaining that rational authority would be equivalent to that of a teacher and student whereby there is mutual benefit, while irrational authority would be identified by the likes of a slave and his owner who demonstrates complete disregard of the slave s happiness or well being, his only interest being how the slave will benefit him. Through a veil of lies man obeys the State, the Church, the mass opinions of their peers, or any other organization that they view to be in power. This affords him a false sense of safety and protection. In his obedience, man feels strong allowing him to be controlled by the fear of being isolated or having undesirable repercussions greet him as a result of any disobedience. Throughout history it has been evident that, for the most part, the few in power have ruled over the majority. The foundation of this relationship has been the few equating obedience with virtue and disobedience with sin, resulting in man not only needing to obey, but wanting to obey. Man s inability to see that he has lost his ability to disobey and stand up for what he believes and values, instead of what he has been brainwashed to believe and value, will inevitably ensure the destruction of all civilization at the hand of man. African Americans defined it as an escape from slavery, while immigrants defined it as their acceptance into a new society. The War of 1812 signified a military conflict between the USA and the United Kingdom of Great Britain. It s known for many things, but the most memorable event in this period was the writing of the Star Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key. His devotion to his country and inspiration to do anything for freedom led him to write this song, which eventually became our national anthem. He once said, It seemed as though mother earth had opened and was vomiting shot and shell in a sheet of fire and brimstone. Atomic Mass Of Pure Aluminum Lab Report Introduction This experiment had two objectives: 1) to determine the atomic mass of pure aluminum, and 2) to determine the masses of aluminum and zinc in an unknown aluminum alloy. To fulfill both of these objectives, both pure aluminum and the unknown alloy were reacted with HCl in order to produce a chemical and H2 gas. The reaction of aluminum and zinc with HCl are found below: 2Al(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2AlCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) 2Zn(s) + 6HCl(aq) вџ¶ 2ZnCl3(aq) + 3H2(g) Both metal samples would dissolve into liquid HCl, producing a H2 gas which would then displace grams of Hв‚‚O into a previously weighed beaker. The increased mass of the beaker was then used to determine the amount of moles of H2, which was subsequently used to determine the moles of aluminum reacted. Using the first reaction shown above and molar mass ratios, the atomic mass of the pure aluminum sample was found, fulfilling the first objective. A provided formula in the lab manual was then used to convert moles of H2 into a mass fraction of aluminum in the unknown alloy, completing the second objective. Results for both reactions were measured and calculated with the use of provided formulas found in the lab manual. Observations and Procedure Four trials were conducted in this experiment. This section focuses on important lesson that I have learnt in this module CCMP is reflection which consider a form of response of learner to experience. Learning from experience is a sub conscious activity and it is not until the learner forms thoughts at a conscious level that means fully understand the experience and learn from it, this is facilitated by refection role awareness and how to be processed. (Boud et al. 1985:19) I know that I was thinking about my experience that I had but I have learnt how to think critically in practical way to learn from what I have done in the past and analyse that by asking myself if I need to change in my previous experience or I am on the right track, this is called reflection on action. Reflection on action involves reflecting on how practice can be developed or changed after the event that it will be achieved by thinking back on what we have done in order to discover how our knowing in action may have contributed to an unexpected outcome (SchГ¶n, 1983, p. 26). To be practical you have to follow steps first what the experience that happens then interpreting how it was and what is to be done and how will be achieved then learn next time if you expose to the same situation what you will do. Even those unfamiliar with the works of the author that uttered this will have some faint inkling of recognition when met with this line. However, those who examine and take the time to analyze the stylistic elements of poetryrecognize that techniques like symbolism, figurative language, and repetition, such as the repetition of the phrase nevermore, are designed to impact the reader and are utilized by the author to create a desired effect. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A prominent example of extended metaphor is when Edgar Allan Poe utilizes the symbol of a palace/castle in The Haunted Palace to represent someone s mind. At the beginning, Poe writes, Once a fair and stately palace Radiant palace reared its head / In the monarch Thought s dominion, It stood there! At this point in the poem, the palace, or mind, is fair and working well. Later, however, Poe begins to describe how ...evil things, in robes of sorrow/ Assailed the monarch s high estate introducing a shift from the previously happy image of a calm, beautiful palace, now somber and ghastly. The tone of the poem, through introducing this extended metaphor, thus shifted to become sorrowful and regretful. Another popular example of repetition from Poe s work is the repetition of the phrase, Nevermore, throughout The Raven. At the beginning, when the bird just arrived, nevermore represented hope, such as when Poe writes, Till I scarcely more than muttered Other friends have flown before /On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before. / Then the bird said Nevermore. These two solutions created an azeotrope where the two liquids have a constant boiling point throughout the distillation. The method used to distill the 1 propanol was fractional distillation, this involved packed fractionating columns that were attached to a distilling flask, when the hot vapour hit the cold packaging, the Liebig condenser, it was condensed. This was repeated many times so the final solution condensed was most likely pure 1 propanol. This is called refluxing, where the liquid is condensed and returned to liquid. [1] There are many real life applications of distillation that are used everyday, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As soon as there wasn t enough 1 propanol the boiling point shot up to 93В°C. In this case the solution of water and 1 propanol acted as ideal liquids where the lower boiling point liquid distilled first and then the higher boiling point liquid. There also was a minimum and maximum boiling point observed. This distillation method is quite efficient, this was determined by calculating the percent error for the experiment (shown in the appendix). A 5.34% error is very low, this means that 95% of what is theoretically possible to distill from this mixture was actually collected when performing the experiment. The apparatus used for the distillation involved having the thermometer in a silicone pocket. This is due to the fact that silicone improves thermal conductivity rather than just having the thermometer in the air or in the mixture of water and propanol. Silicone has a thermal conductivity of 0.1 compared to 0.58 of water [4]. The optimal drop rate was at 15 20 drops per minute, if the drop rate was lower the lab would take a long time to complete, which is very inefficient. However, a higher drop rate would increase the possibility of missing the boiling point change. Boiling chips were added to the round bottom flask, their purpose was to ensure the mixture boils smoothly so the solution doesn t get superheated or boil ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The alignment of the policy or practice defines how a convention fits within a workplace structure, therefore ineffective strategy is usually preceded by poor structural fit rather than poor implementation. Academic studies support these findings, Huselid (1997) performed a cluster analysis of four firms with different HR strategies. The weak clusters were characterised by poorly planned human capital goals that were irrelevant to the workplace. The high performance clusters reflected smart design supported with effective communication and above average levels of management support. • 20. Cultural Awareness And Characteristics Within The... Cultural Awareness and characteristics within the Afghanistan culture. There are five major characteristics that define a culture; they are learned, shared, symbols, integrated, and dynamic. Culture is learned. It is not biological; we do not inherit it. Much of learning culture is unconscious. We learn culture from families, peers, institutions, and media. The process of learning culture is known as enculturation. While all humans have basic biological needs such as food, sleep, and sex, the way we fulfill those needs varies cross culturally. Culture is shared. Because we share culture with other members of our group, we are able to act in socially appropriate ways as well as predict how others will act. Despite the shared nature of culture, that doesn t mean that culture is homogenous (the same). The multiple cultural worlds that exist in any society are discussed in detail below. Culture is based on symbols. A symbol is something that stands for something else. Symbols vary cross culturally and are arbitrary. They only have meaning when people in a culture agree on their use. Language, money and art are all symbols. Language is the most important symbolic component of culture. Culture is integrated. This is known as holism, or the various parts of a culture being interconnected. All aspects of a culture are related to one another and to truly understand a culture, one must learn about all of its parts, not only a few. Culture is dynamic. This simply means that cultures ... An example of one is when the guy that got his spouse pregnant, leaves as soon as he hears the news. • 30. Being A Practicing Surgeon, Atul Gawande Essay Being a practicing surgeon, Atul Gawande approaches the dilemma of aging from a unique perspective. The study and implementation of traditional medical practices, he suggests, contributes to a problem solving, solution based approached to over coming the hurdles of old age. The medical field, he says, puts the entirety of its focus on fixing the concrete problems that patients come into the emergency room with, instead of focusing on the best overall solution to satisfy the patients primary desires at the end of life. It is a very valid and important point. Why put tens of thousands of dollars into a chemotherapy treatment plan to lengthen a persons life, if it only ends up yielding a few extra weeks and causes tremendously more pain and suffering? At what point does being alive become not worth it, especially when the patient sees not benefit, but more suffering? This is the issue within the modern medical system that bridges the gap with medicine and agingstudies. Aging studies, with its theories and concepts, hopes to present a solution to the problem that Gawande points out in such detail and with so many personal examples. How can the things that are most important to the patient be provided without all the intrusiveness and extraordinary expenditures of our healthcare mentality? In summary, aging studies seeks to mend the discontinuity between the stone faced objectivity of medical solutions and, as Gawande puts it, what matters in the end . Being Mortal, in one way ... • 31. English Writer And Poet Gilbert K. Chesterton English writer and poet Gilbert K. Chesterton once stated that, You cannot love a thing without wanting to fight for it. Because true love, the passion that binds two people, is something that renews itself and is never diminished. It neither deteriorates nor does it die. Rather both bliss and hardship, distance and nearness, pleasure and pain, form the foundation for which lovesits upon. Love, like steel, is tempered by the flames of adversity and as a result it is made stronger by its heat. Love is so deeply rooted and critical to humanity because in love there is stability, compassion, and comfort. In love people give a part of their heart, their soul, their own passion, to another. In a world of loneliness, uncertainty and danger, love is a constant worth fighting for. Moreover, love that one choses to not fight for does not deserve to be called true love. It can be lust, passion, or endearment but never love because the gift of love is sacred. It is selfless, mutual, and permanent. It is true. The Mu`allaqat of Antara is one such example of love that is true. This story mirrors that of the classical Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet, where love blossoms amidst two warring houses. The hero of this ode quite literally fights on the battlefield for his lover. The devotion of the man s love can be seen by how eloquently he describes his feelings for her. • 32. Psychoanalysis In Catcher In The Rye J.D. Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye is regarded as a seminal work of fiction with many psychological and social themes, particularly those related to personal development and the transition out of childhood. In this paper, The Catcher in the Rye will be analyzed from the basis of an Adlerian psychoanalytic perspective with a particular emphasis on personality development and the influence of siblings and birth order. This analysis will center around the main character of Salinger s story, Holden , who appears to have developed an inferiority complex in his early life which he attempts to make up for with antisocial and dishonest de identification behaviour. The Adlerian model of psychoanalysisis ideally suited for the character of Holden and provides a number of insights into the influences upon Holden, the state of his mind and the motivations that make up his unique character. Alfred Adler, a renowned and highly influential psychologist who came to prominence in the early part of the 20th century coined the term family constellation , which served as a metaphor to describe the influence of familial bonds and dynamics upon the personality development of individuals, particularly children. Adler s conception of the family constellation has been adopted and studied extensively since his time. Rudolf Dreikurs built upon Adler s work some years later, and vouched for the usefulness of the family constellation perspective in psychoanalytic work: A clear formulation ... A review of psychosocial models, antipsychotic interventions and social cognition approaches are outlined. Keywords: Schizophrenia, social cognition, antipsychotic medication, psychosis, treatment Schizophrenia: A Review of Treatment and Interventions The American Psychiatric Association [APA] (2013) defines schizophrenia as a debilitating psychotic disorder that involves delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic behaviors and negative symptoms. Beidel, Frueh Hersen (2014) explain that schizophrenia impairs social functioning especially in areas that relate to daily living; this includes maintaining social relationships and intellectual functioning. Positive symptoms (e.g. hallucinations), negative symptoms (e.g. social withdrawal), cognitive impairment (e.g. memory problems), and mood related issues (e.g. anxiety) are most common in individuals who are diagnosed with schizophrenia (Beidel, Frueh Herson, 2014, p.166). Different interventions to treat schizophrenia have been explored. There is no specific treatment that has proven to reduce symptoms definitively. Individualized treatments along with psychosocial models have yielded positive results in the reduction of psychosis. The use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychoanalysis as an approach founded by Freud focuses on what is called the unconscious material and how this material affects the individual (Yakeley, 2014). This essay will specifically look at Freud s drive theory and the Object Relations Theory as these are the theories of the psychoanalytic approach that are best suited to Wendy s, thus evidence supporting this statement will be presented in the essay. The second part of the essay will be a discussion regarding the cultural aspects of Wendy s case and how this impacts on the psychoanalysis approach. However, before that can be done, one will need to provide the reader with insight on what psychoanalysis is. The psychoanalysis approach deals with improving disorders that interfere with the day to day function of an individual. Introduction Conventional cryptographic algorithms, which are generally aimed at encrypting like text data (known as NaГЇve approach) not well suited for video encryption. This is due to the fact that conventional cryptographic algorithms cannot process the large volume of video data in real time. Selective encryption of the H.264/AVC bitstream puts decoder to fully decode the encrypted video with degradation in video quality. This perceptual encryption has low encryption and decryption time. The video data are compressed to reduce the storage space required and to save bandwidth for transmission. Video compression removes redundancy, so that it is difficult to guess about a portion of a compressed bitstream to another. In addition, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From an attacker s point of view, brute force attack may break the encryption of sign bit and level_suffix of the same length. Intra prediction mode has only nine different values (0 8). Hence, the encryption of intra prediction mode also has the threat of brute force attack. So, the values of level_suffix with sign bits are encrypted with a higher length of bitstream (6 bits for luma and 4 bits for chroma), to reduce the threat of brute force attack. However, this affects the compression bandwidth. We have also analyzed that without making motion vectors encryption, we can t obtain temporal redundancy. Motion vector encryptions are proposed by several authors [4 9]. However, analysis shown in this paper said that 45 50% of motion vectors for each frame are not encrypted. Thus, a better encryption method is proposed at here in expense with compression bandwidth. Overall, we should create the balance between security and the increase in compression bandwidth. Four selective encryption methods are discussed here. A First method named NZs in CAVLC encrypts level_suffix values with sign bits of up to three lowest frequency non zero DCT coefficients in CAVLC encoding for all macroblocks. As king, Henry needed to put on a very masculine, tough, and stern image to protect his people, but behind the scenes, he was a hopeless romantic searching for someone to rule with. He hides his soft side from everyone in the kingdom, which the movie accurately shows. At first, the movie portrays Henry in a negative light. He seems very evil: killing one wife and immediately marrying the next. He is short with his courts people and comes off profoundly uncultured. At his meals, he devours his food and throws the bones on the floor. He is constantly needing to be cleaned up after and watched. Even though he shows this ignorant side to everyone else, he secretly cares about his image and how he acts. He goes to get his beard trimmed and comes down his hair before he talks to a woman he is interested in. When he talks to Catherine Howard, his fifth wife, he knocks on the door before coming in. He talks sweetly to her and isn t short with her. Although he portrayed this tough guy with the kingdom, he was a teddy bear at heart hoping for love and affection. Henry didn t always want an everlasting love. Jane Seymours (his third wife), life was hardly even shown.
