Eros And Cupid Research Paper
Eros and Cupid were both an important part of ancient culture, playing the role of the love god. Eros
name meant love in Greek, and Cupid translates to desire in Latin. Eros was the Greek God of love
and Cupid was the Roman God of love and the Roman version of Cupid. Eros was originally a
primeval god; however, later tradition crowned him to be the son of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite, the
Greek God of beauty. On the other hand, Cupid is a little more mysterious and many theories
circulated about his ancestry. Some people reckon he was the son of Vulcan, the Roman God of Fire,
whilst others say he is the son of Venus. He was often described as handsome young man though in
art, he was portrayed as chubby, winged infant who shoots arrows at people to make them fall in love.
Eros was a Primordial God, being the fourth God to come into existence after Tartarus. ... Show more

A difference in today s society, who all picture Cupid as a tiny, winged baby that would be that the
Greek version of Eros was never portrayed that way. He was always portrayed as a handsome,
desirable young man able to woo the mortals even without his love inducing quiver. The Greek
version of Eros was also known to be a lot more powerful. Cupid, for instance, was never able to
make people hate each other. This could ve potentially contributed to him being imagined as a chubby
baby, which have connotations to kindness and happiness. Furthermore, Cupid couldn t influence
minds in the way that Eros could and was never a leader. As well as this, Cupid was never speculated
to be the son of Jupiter, like the Greek Eros was sometimes told to be the son of Zeus. Obviously,
there are many similarities between Eros and Cupid. For example, they can both induce love. Another
thing is that both their names translate to something along the lines of love in their respective

Era Pros And Cons
Almost fifty years after drafting the ERA, the Democratic party united behind its passage. On August
10th, Martha Griffiths (D Michigan) succeeded in getting the House of Representatives to pass the
ERA on a bipartisan vote of 350 15. The bill would not pass both chambers during the 91st Congress
and had to be reintroduced the next year during the 92nd Congress. The vote in the House in March,
1971 was 354 23 in favor of passage. On March 22, 1972 the Senate voted 84 8 in favor of the ERA,
finally passing the ERA and sending it to the States for ratification. The initial deadline for ratification
of the ERA by the states was set for five years, but would eventually be extended to June 30, 1982.

On January 24th, 1977 Indiana became what would be the final state to ratify the ERA. On July 10th,
1977 Alice Paul, who had been so instrumental in the cause of Suffrage and the ERA died at the age of
92. At the time of her death thirty five states had voted to ratify. One of the states that ratified the ERA
in one chamber, but not the other was North Carolina. Writing in the Spring 1978 edition of Signs
Theodore S. Arrington and Patricia A. Kyle break down the debate. Circulating a questionnaire, they
found that men most supportive of the ERA were liberal activist Democrats and anti ERA men were
Republican activists . By a vote of only three votes in 1975 in North Carolina. The culture among
Republican supporters of the late 70s had shifted away from those who first embraced the ERA in
1940. While the New England states, Rust Belt and Pacific Northwest had been uniform in their
support for the ERA, the only State of the former Confederacy to ratify the ERA was Texas, which
was an early supporter of the ERA, ratifying in 1972. Also in 1972 an Illinois Republican activist,
Phyllis Schlafly would begin her crusade against the ERA in a February 1972 article in her
eponymously named Phyllis Schlafly Report newsletter entitled: What s Wrong with Equal

Argument Paper On Gun Control
Position Paper on Gun Control
While Americans were contemplating gun control proposals in the wake of mass shootings at a
Colorado School, another gunman massacred 50 people in a club in Orlando. This incident brought
heated political exchanges between President Obama and Trump, the Republican presidential
candidate. It is estimated that in 2015 alone, there were more than 351 mass shootings in the United
States. This is a worrying trend that should be reversed as soon as possible. Surprisingly, the trend has
divided Americans into two groups. On one extreme end, there are those Americans who believe that
the government should enforce gun control. On the other end, some Americans insist that stricter gun
controls will not help in the fight against killings. In this light, this paper will try to provide a detailed
analysis of the gun control debate while highlighting the various points made by the proponents and
opponents of the gun control. The essay posits that gun control is counterproductive.
The debate on gun control revolves around how the laws to be implemented will affect the acquisition
of guns by the criminals as well as law abiding citizens. Gun control proponents are of the opinion that
in the absence of gun control laws, criminals will acquire guns too easily. In the same vein, if all
citizens are armed, criminals will have a greater incentive to acquire guns. Hence, there will be too
many guns in circulation and crime cases will increase. Contrastingly, gun

The Impact Of Electric Vehicles On The Environment
The planet changes over time, but people cause negative impact to their environment. To protect
Earth, consumers need to be conscious of their role as technology continues to advance. More
specifically, the automobile industry creates pollution, in 2013, transportation contributed more than
half of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons emitted
into our air (ucs). Conventional vehicles, utilizing internal combustion engines, cause these harmful
emissions, but electric vehicles protect the environment while providing consumers with an efficient
use of energy. Energy serves as a crucial factor in technology and allows society to operate, but certain
usages harm the world. As arguments develop about pollution and its effects, society needs to take the
step towards clean energy. The transportation industry releases pollution through fumes caused by
combustion within engines. In terms of automobiles, the conventional gasoline vehicles and electric
vehicles compete to gain attention from consumers. The electric vehicle uses energy more efficiently
than the gasoline vehicle, which loses energy through combustion. Additionally, the EV offers
performance benefits for individuals. While offering a smooth and quiet drive, these vehicles require
less maintenance. Finally, the EV allows money to stay within the nation, since local utility companies
produce electricity. For these reasons, a national tax exemption should be offered to encourage

Mirror Mask Movie Analysis
MirrorMask is a fantasy/drama film that was released on September 30th, 2005. This movie was very
different from a normal fairy tale. This movie was about a girl named Helena, she worked in a circus
with her Mom and Dad and they barely got by financially. Helena didn t want to work in the circus
anymore, she wanted to be normal like everybody else. Helena is also an incredible artist, her room
was filled with artwork. When she falls asleep one day, she woke up in a magical land that was filled
with her drawings, the kingdom was her drawings. After finding out they need to get the mirrormask
to save the kingdom, she embarks on an adventure to save the kingdom and along the way, she meets a
guy, that accompanies alongside with her. Is it true love? From watching MirrorMask, this movie had
different elements than a regular fairy tale. It didn t have an evil stepmother, an absentee father and
not really a prince charming at the end of the film. I would say, this movie was mostly about growing
up and realizing that even if you don t have much, you should still be grateful for what you have.
Helena was very ungrateful she had two parents that were always there for her, they didn t have a lot
of money, but they had each other and Helena didn t seem to understand that. Throughout the film in a
way she matured and learned a lesson, you don t really learn lessons at the end of fairy tales, you
usually just end up with a new husband. While on a quest to find the mirror mask, she

Clarissa And The CooliesWives Summary
The article by Valerie Reed Hickman is, Clarissa and the Coolies Wives: Mrs. Dalloway Figuring
Transnational Feminism . Is in communication with the novel, Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf. The
argument Hickman claims in response to Mrs. Dalloway is [the] absence of [an] encounter between
the upper class English heroine of Mrs. Dalloway and the poor Indian women barely acknowledge[d]
in the text (Hickman 53). Hickman s idea to govern is Woolf fails to represent transnational women in
her novel. Hickman specifies the Coolies Wives lack of character narrative and a name shows
throughout the novel. The first point Hickman brings up is the reasoning behind placing the Coolies
within the margins. They are not included with support because ... Show more content on

Clarissa s party seems to do what she set out to do which was to break down the walls of Imperialism.
Meanwhile, Hickman addresses the loss of two characters of Smith and an old lady. Then Clarissa
imagines what Smith and the old lady went through. Never worries about the Indian women. Hickman
then discusses Peter and the caricature of Imperialism he simply is for the book. Peter only misses
being in India because they follow the traditions of Imperialism. Hickman explains that no other
mention of Indians is offered by Woolf. Hickman uses a two other author s interpretation of the total
disregard Woolf has for transnational feminists. Even going far as using Jane Marcus to mock A Room
of One s Own failure to adequately give voice to the black woman (Hickman 60). Including some
material from Coolies by Mulk Raj Anand. Hickman changes tactics with the explanation that it is
possible for transnational feminists rights can be heard in fiction. Then contradicting herself, she states
that there is no real representation of transnational women in a text. Gayatri Spivak s point on that
subaltern women are always spoken for by others whether or not they are part of the British Empire.
Subaltern women can become transnational feminist but they require to gain a voice before the healing
can begin. Hickman includes the use of an example where an Imperialist wants to give voice to
subaltern woman. The subaltern

The Role Of Perceptual Dialectology
In order to take full advantage of research in the field of perceptual dialectology, it is essential to not
view it as an isolated discipline but to discuss it in the framework of linguistics and other fields it
touches upon. According to Preston, perceptual dialectolo gy is a sub category of folk linguistics,
which itself belongs to sociolinguistics. He in cludes the study of both, conscious and subconscious
responses to language variation in the term (Preston 2011: 15), and emphasizes the importance of
cognitive processes into consideration, making it synonymous with the term attitude studies ( or the
social psy chology of language ) (Preston 2013: 93). It contrasts traditional dialectology, in that it is
not primarily based on linguistic data but rather on perceived impressions (Hiraga 2005: 291). Preston

This relates to the aforementioned dialect image that respondents have in mind. Whether they do it
consciously or subconsciously, participants perceive speech that is non standard to be less prestigious
and incorrect. The judgments they make about dialect speakers is based on social stereotypes (Lam
and O Brien 2014: 152). Perceptual dialectology helps to identify these stereotypes and analyze the
rela tionships between different speech communities. Participants mirror their attitudes to wards other
communities in their attitudes towards their respective language variety. The study of peoples
responses to different dialects does not only concern different language features but also the
community itself (Evans 2013: 64). IannĆ ccaro and Dell Aquila agree that studies show perceptions on
the inside of a community, as they are always based on opinions from members of the community
living there (2001: 265). Therefore, perceptual dialectology delivers insight into social structures of
one commu nity as well as their connection to surrounding

Why I Am Watching Tv
Sixteen Years, Sixteen Days, and the Rest of my Life On August 12, 2014 I was watching TV in the
morning before heading over to my grandparents house for breakfast. The news was on with a
headline at the bottom of the screen which began with the word Ebola , but I could see was bola.
Every once in a while, a flash of the E would enter my vision, but it did not stay in there for more than
a second. Wondering what was going on I looked around the room, but nothing looked out of place,
the only problem with my vision was when I looked at the TV. After a short amount of time this
strange obstruction to my vision went away and as soon as my father and brother we went over to my
grandparents house. Every Tuesday, we would have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our job for the day was to prune Fire Blight from some of the Ginger Gold apple trees. Just as I
walked up to the first tree, the pain in my head became unbearable. I told my father that it felt like I
was standing on top of my head. One option was to go to the Emergency Room, but I opted to go to
my regular doctor instead so my father made an appointment for me at ten o clock. When my father
called, he was instructed to give me some medicine to relieve my headache and to have me drink some
water. After taking some medicine and drinking some water, I went over to my grandmother s office
so she could keep an eye on my symptoms. Usually rest helps to relieve my headaches so I laid my
head down to rest, but doing so only made the pain worse. My father stopped in the office to check on
me before going back out to work when I told him that I could not wait until ten o clock. We went to
the ER, but before we left I began to feel nauseous. Once we arrived at the ER we signed in and we
were brought to a room where I was given some medicine to relieve my nausea. A nurse came in who
asked questions about how I was feeling or what symptoms I had had and came to the conclusion that
I had a migraine with aura, but just to be safe she decided to do a CT scan. After the CT scan the nurse
came back in to tell us that I had a cyst in my brain, but that that was normal for children about my
age. The nurse

Characteristics Of Humility Of God
The Meek Is Humble Before God
Two Characteristics of Meekness
Meekness could be examined by towards God and towards neighbors because these two are the
objects of meekness. Craston structurally described a concept of meekness. He said that meekness is
humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place, but it results in gentle, forgiving
unselfishness towards others. This explanation shows the characteristics of meekness. His definition is
composed of two parts; the first part is humility of God and it come from trustful submission . The
second part is unselfishness towards others and it has mildness and pardon.
Meekness towards God
Meekness is partially overlapped concept with humility. Henry understood meekness as a gracious
easiness to be wrought upon by that which is good. Brakel defined humility is the humble disposition
of the heart of the believer. Meekness and humility both direct to a specific inclination of spirit. Then,
what meekness and humility are different? Trench distinguished meekness from humility. He argued
that humility is acknowledgement of creatureliness, of absolute dependence, of possessing nothing
and of receiving all things from God. , and meekness is an inwrought grace of the soul that is
exercised primarily toward God.
When Craston argued that meekness is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place ,
humility should come before meekness; in other words, humility would be a foundation of meekness
in the light of its characteristics. However, according to Trench s distinction, humility is relatively
more passive than meekness. Humility remains in understanding of creatureliness, and absolute
dependence, but meekness is exercised primarily toward God. Word of God and Providence of God
Thomas Watson understood that meekness towards God implies into submit to the word of God and
the providence of God. Regarding the word of God, the meek will obey the word of God because he
already understands necessities of absolute dependence on God. The meek will bear the word in his
soul and humbly comply with the word. Furthermore, when the meek struggles with his flesh against
the word, he will rebuke his corrupted flesh rather will

Blair Witch Project Analysis
The Blair Witch Project is a highly successful and widely innovative independent film that was
released on July 30th, 1999. The film followed three student filmmakers who aimed to create a
documentary about a local legend called the Blair Witch. While the film alluded to various hallmarks
of the horror film genre, it was groundbreaking in its marketing strategy, the use of found footage, and
cinematography.
In many ways, The Blair Witch Project adheres to various tropes and traditions of the horror movie
genre. The film includes some characteristics of the Italian Giallo genre. In both genres, the killer is
unknown and unseen to the audience. The giallo underscores the theme of sight and the ability to see
clearly (Bondanella 381). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The monster triumphs over the protagonist(s), normative order is never restored, and the fates of the
the main characters and the monster are left uncertain (Pinedo 29 34). In The Blair Witch Project, the
protagonists are reported missing but we never see what actually happened to them. The town begins
exhaustive searches to find the students. The witch is never seen and presumably survives the film to
haunt the woods again. Like many other postmodern horror films, The Blair Witch Project plays on
insider knowledge that the audience has about the horror genre. The audiences know not to run into
abandoned houses, yell in the forest, or run away in different directions but the protagonists do not.
The audience then engages with the film using their insider knowledge by yelling or commenting at
the main characters to avoid the pitfalls of the horror genre.
The film also utilizes what Isabel Pinedo calls the pleasure of not seeing . She mentions that, The
blocked vision produced by the film heightens the intensity of the horror by refusing to show the
terrifying spectacle (54). The Blair Witch Project utilizes blocked vision through the use of the
camcorder. In the film, the viewer is only able to see what the protagonists see. In the darkness of the
night in the woods, the protagonists and the audience are unable to see what is terrorizing the main
characters in the night. In this sense, we express the same anxieties and fears of the

Termites Reaction Lab
Eastern subterranean termites are insects with a well ordered social system whose members are
characterized by different castes such as the queen and king for reproduction and the workers who are
responsible for building shelter and finding food (Laboratory Manual, 87). When a worker finds a
food source it leaves a trail on the ground with its pheromones which acts like a temporary signal, so
other workers can follow and find the same food source (Laboratory Manual, 87). Certain pens have
chemicals in their ink that mimics the pheromones, which can cause the termites to follow the paths
that has been drawn (Laboratory Manual, 87). The purpose of this experiment is to discover which pen
the chemical that mimics the pheromone. I think the black marker will be the pen that the termites
follow because it has a distinct smell and it s the darkest line. In this experiment we had three pens, a

Ocean s Eleven Essay
Ocean s Eleven
Path goal Theory In Ocean s Eleven Steven Soderbergh did a great job as a director in keeping the
audience interested throughout the whole movie time. Path goal theory of leader effectiveness can be
easily applied to the movie. The path goal theory by Robert House holds that the leader can affect
group s performance, satisfaction and motivation by offering rewards for achieving goals, clarifying
paths towards these goals and removing obstacles to performance. After being released from prison,
Danny Ocean (Clooney) finds out that Las Vegas kingpin Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia) is seeing his

instructions to the group and clarifies expectations. Path Goal theory assumes that leaders are flexible
and they can change their leadership style depending on the situations. Although, the leader behavior
outcome relationship is moderated by contingency variables environment and follower characteristics.
The followers do not have control of environment, and the environmental factors determine the
leadership style. Follower characteristics are the locus of control, experience, and perceived ability. In
the ocean s eleven case the team members can be described as having external locus of control where
they believe that their success is attributed to luck or fate. The whole robbery plan is based that each

Examples Of Alienation In The Thin Red Line
For instance in James Jones s novel The Thin Red Line (1962), the inhuman and brutal acts , such as
the disinterring of a Japanese corpse for fun, the extraction of their corpses gold teeth, and the
summary execution of Japanese prisoners, all of these explore the idea that each soldier suffers the
emotional and physical predicament of war by himself. However, some readers will be grateful to an
author who has honestly attempted to tell the truth in his own artistic way. One such person was
Romain Gary who expressed his appreciation of the novel in his April 22, 1962, letter to Jones.
The Thin Red Line, the line between man and beast, so easily crossed, is a realistic fable, symbolic
without symbols, mythological and yet completely factual, a sort of Moby Dick without the white
whale, deeply philosophical without any philosophizing whatsoever. . . . The book belongs to that vein
of poetical realism which is the rarest and to me the most precious thing in the whole history of the

sufferings that they underwent due to their color, as well as he exposed the reality by bringing out the

feeling of alienation. Richard expresses his physical or emotional hunger, his disagreements with

This paper explores the interaction between brand orientation and market orientation. Brand
orientation is an inside out, identity driven approach that sees brands as a hub for an organization and

Brand orientation is an additional degree of sophistication. To be brand oriented is market orientation
plus . (Urde, 1999, p. 118). Has the understanding of brands, the role of brands, and the management
of brands fundamentally changed, or are these examples just anomalies: that is, rare exceptions to the
rule that can be disregarded? Kuhn (1962, 1977), discussing paradigm shifts, describes a change of
practice, the theoretical applications and the set of fundamental rules that deļ¬ne an area or discipline.
In a narrow sense, identifying a shift in a paradigm is about ideas expressed in textbooks, while in a
broader sense, it can be viewed as what is seen as the theoretical foundation of a given area. It is now
vital to backtrack for further reļ¬‚ection on developments within the area of strategic brand
management. For example, if an older edition of a marketing textbook by Kotler were to be compared
with a more recent edition of a reader on strategic brand management by Kapferer, what conclusions
could be drawn? If attention is paid to new concepts such as identity, brand equity, core values,
corporate branding, internal branding, employer

The Concepts Of Activity- Based Costing
ABSTRACT This paper will discuss and analyze the concepts of Activity Based Costing (ABC) in the
manufacturing industry. Specifically, the document will focus on General Motors (GM), and the
innovation of one of their manufacturing facilities who used ABC to predict energy usage in the
manufacturing of automobiles. The study yielded a successful ABC predictive energy model which
provided a structure for competitive advantage for the corporation.
INTRODUCTION
General Motors (GM) is one of the most renowned automakers in the world. GM is well known for
their streamlined assembly processes which saves money and time in the production of cars. A study
was conducted at one of GM s vehicle assembly plants as part of a research project to examine how
the ABC model provides value. GM specifically focused on its potential to determine expected energy
use in a plant for varying production schedules in order to evaluate Demand and Response offers.
According to the case study written by Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, and Biller, energy costs
were steadily rising and were predicted to continue this trend going into the future. At the same time,
utility companies were beginning to implement Smart Grid technologies to increase the efficiency of
energy distribution. One resulting program to emerge from these new technologies was Demand and
Response contracting. (Jurek, Bras, Guldberg, D Arcy, Oh, Biller 2000). This program allowed
customers to obtain a discount on their

Essay about Drilling for Oil in The Gulf of Mexico
America has been dependant on oil since the 1800 s and the invention of modern machinery. From
skin care products to the gasoline in our cars and engines, petroleum is the basis of almost everything
we use for everyday life. Without oil the nation could not meet the energy demands we need to
survive. Continued exploration has been the topic of heated debate among supporters and opponents,
especially when it comes to offshore drilling. My goal here is to show the differing view points of
drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico and present a better understanding from a national perspective.
Drilling for our own offshore oil reserves can save the United States billions of dollars.

drilling. In March 2011 Hastings said, Let me state very clearly that these hearings will lead to action
by this committee, Hastings said. As chairman, I intend to introduce legislation to put the Gulf of
Mexico back to work. There are five compelling reasons why the United States should drill our own
oil, as found by a 2008 study group: jobs, revenue, economic growth, public demand, and energy
independence. Allowing drilling off the coasts of the U.S. would also create over 100,000 new jobs.
Over $1 trillion in royalties for federal and state governments could be collected. By using our own
reserves we will spend far less on imported oil and move closer to our energy independence.
According to a study done by the American Petroleum Institute, if offshore areas were opened to new
exploration and drilling, the national production is estimated to increase by 36% in 20 years. Federal
royalties are estimated to be approximately $4 trillion over the project life cycle; A hefty weight off
future tax payers if applied to the federal deficit.

Leadership has been described as the process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid
and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task.
Alan Keith of Genentech states that, Leadership is ultimately about creating a way for people to
contribute to making something extraordinary happen.

impression of the restaurant.
Step four, selecting the right candidate. During this stage, Hilltop will come up with a list of criteria to
shortlist candidates and then to interview and select those who meet this criterea. The interview stage
has to be planned and decide whether any practical exrcises have to be crried out. The panel can
decide who they want to employ after the exercises and interviews.
Step five, appointing a leader. Once it has been decided on the candidate to appoint, Hilltop should
make a verbal offer, give feedback, do pre employment checks especially those for protecting children
in the restaurant and then give out a formal contract. Hilltop will have to bear in mind that the
candidate may not accept, so they will have to have a backup candidate.
Step six, induction of the new leader. During this stage, Hilltop will have to organise a programme
that gives the new leader support, information and contacts he or she will need in order to make a
good start in the restaurant.
Step seven, evaluate the process of recruiting the leader. During this stage, Hilltop will have to think
about what went well and what could have been improved. This information will be useful if thay
have to re advertise.

Music Of The 60s Essay
The Sixties were an exciting revolutionary period of time with great social and technological change.
Some people called it the decade of discontent because of the race riots in Detroit and La, and the
demonstrations against the Vietnam War. Other people called it the decade of peace, love, and
harmony . It was called this because of the peace movement and the emergence of the flower children.
(Britannica) The sixties were about assassination, unforgettable fashion, new styles of music, civil
rights, gay and women s liberation, Vietnam, Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, peace marches,
sexual freedom, drug experimentation, and Woodstock. All of these components caused a
revolutionary change in the world of popular Music.

Many readers infer that John Wilson is a homeless man in the short story, Zebra, by Chaim Potok, but
this claim has been proven otherwise throughout the story. This quote proves that John Wilson is, in
fact, not homeless: The sender was John Wilson, with a return address in Virginia (Potok 60). The
reader can assume from this quote that John Wilson does occupy a home due to the fact that there was
a return address labeled on the envelope. In the story, Zebra also realizes that John Wilson is not a
hobo because he notices the return address in Virginia on the large brown envelope. This quote is
another piece of evidence that displays that John Wilson does have a home: I leave it near his name for
a few hours, and then I take it to my studio

Examples Of Maturity In Catcher In The Rye
There are certain qualities that define maturity, and they vary from person to person. Throughout the
story, Holden Caulfield, the sixteen year old protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is
slowly but surely becoming a mature, young boy. He battles through his teenage life because he is
caught between two worlds; one of pure bliss and innocence, the other of a mature adult. As he aspires
to be the catcher in the rye , he wants all children to hold on to their innocence as long as they can
because he feels the world is full of phony adults. However with the help of some friends and family,
he is able to realize that he cannot save all children and that they will eventually have to grow up.

himself as a duck trapped in the motionless water, a gloomy atmosphere where he does not belong nor

A Rugged, Precise and Accurate New Gravimetry Method for...
Gravimetry is an old technique which has been used for the determination and recovery of gold ever
since its discovery. It is a process that has a minimal room for instrumental error and does not require
standards for any calculation of the unknown that is being analyzed. The determination of gold
besides gravimetry can either be titrimetry or instrumental, but these techniques requires gold
standards for comparison of its results and concerns the determination of gold in small scale or trace
amounts like that of atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The demand for gold is rapidly icreasing

Using quantitative and qualitative data in a study, the researcher nulls the weaknesses (Creswell,
2014). Creswell (2014) states the core assumption of this form of inquiry is that the combination of
qualitative and quantitative approaches provides a more complete understanding of a research problem
than either approach alone . Researchers who hold different philosophical positions may find mixed
methods research to be difficult because of their different beliefs (Greene, 2007). However, mixed
methods research also represents an opportunity to change these tensions into fresh knowledge
through discovery. A pragmatic perspective draws using diverse approaches, giving primacy to the
importance of the research problem and question, and valuing both objective and subjective
knowledge (Morgan, 2007). A transformative perspective offers an orienting framework for a mixed
methods study based on creating a more just and democratic society that permeates the entire research

Comparing Maus I And Maus II
Maus I and Maus II: Intricate Frames of Identity and Experience
Maus is self referential a number of times throughout each volume, with a variety of purposes. The
narrative moves through several interpretive frameworks Vladek s perspective, and Artie s
perspective, both of his father and of his father s story and how he s choosing to tell it. Throughout
these various levels of interpretation, questions are posed in innumerable ways. Vladek s behavior
when he talks about (or even uses) his experiences, Artie s perspective of his father, and the symbolic
representation of the animals, are all expressions of identity that come through as the result of the
individual s frame of interpretation. The text and its subjects are self aware in a variety ... Show more

In the first volume, Artie ruminates on the subject of Jewish stereotypes and the ways in which his
father fits into them. In one panel, he says, In some ways he s just like the racist caricature of the
miserly old Jew (Maus I, Spiegelman 131). It s important to Artie to portray his father accurately, but
he s understandably concerned about playing into stereotypes. Just like the animal and nationality
stereotypes, the stereotypes that Vladek fits into work in two ways. Vladek is the miserly old Jew but
the text shows over and over again that this same pragmatic tendency helped him survive a lot of
times in the war, and so in some ways validates the practice. It s important to note though, that the
tendency to save negatively affected Mala and Artie; they both carried a lot of resentment towards
Vladek in the ways that he denied them a lot of basic necessities, and in a lot of ways prioritized
material items and money over members of his family. So while the text shows an explanation of sorts
for Vladek s behavior, it doesn t necessarily make excuses for the problems he caused with his actions
later on. The engagement between cultural perceptions and lived experience continues the subversive
action that is the basic underlying function of the texts. (Maus II,

Why Is Food Coma A Myth Or Reality
Food Coma: Myth or reality????
Almost everyone is acquainted with the experience of finishing a big meal and the accompanying state

times when a couch seems more appealing and dozing off is the best possible idea. Sounds like a

This phenomenon is called as food coma. No, one does not literally goes into a coma but it will

Myths
Drop in blood flow from brain and oxygen delivery
Mostly people believe there is a drop in oxygen and blood flow after a meal which leads to after meal
drowsiness and sleepiness. But this is wrong because even though there is an increase in blood flow
due to passage of food in the gastrointestinal tracts, it is generally from the skeletal muscle tissue and
also by increasing the rate of blood pumped per minute by the heart.

Judith Butler Religion
A traditional view of homosexuality is that it is perceived as wrong. It is to be avoided, to be othered ,
and is subject to social abjection . In Judith Butler s Gender Trouble, she identifies a need for a new
interpretation of gender against the previous regime of gender hierarchy and compulsory
heterosexuality. In this essay, I will argue that Judith Butler s approach to gender politics is an
improvement on previous attitudes towards homophobia. I will do this through a close contextual
reading of Butler s work, particularly Gender Trouble and her article Imitation and Gender
Insubordination. Butler calls for a more fluid, variable interpretation of gender that would strive for a
new equality where subjects are not restricted to notions of masculinity or femininity . Butler herself
argues that gender is performance and is false, and this act of doing is just a social construct. This then
calls into question what the alternatives can be, and this essay will argue these improvements on
attitudes towards homosexuality requires a deconstruction of attitudes towards gender.
It will argue this through, firstly, establishing that a patriarchal societal regime with a mind towards
procreation has the expectation of conformity to binary gender roles in place. From this, it can be
drawn that sexual preference is inherently linked to gender construction, which needs to be
challenged. And then from these first two premises it guides us to question what the binaries of male

The bill would not pass both chambers during the 91st Congress and had to be reintroduced the next year during the 92nd Congress. The vote in the House in March, 1971 was 354 23 in favor of passage. On March 22, 1972 the Senate voted 84 8 in favor of the ERA, finally passing the ERA and sending it to the States for ratification. Argument Paper On Gun Control Position Paper on Gun Control While Americans were contemplating gun control proposals in the wake of mass shootings at a Colorado School, another gunman massacred 50 people in a club in Orlando. This incident brought heated political exchanges between President Obama and Trump, the Republican presidential candidate. It is estimated that in 2015 alone, there were more than 351 mass shootings in the United States. This is a worrying trend that should be reversed as soon as possible. Surprisingly, the trend has divided Americans into two groups. On one extreme end, there are those Americans who believe that the government should enforce gun control. On the other end, some Americans insist that stricter gun controls will not help in the fight against killings. In this light, this paper will try to provide a detailed analysis of the gun control debate while highlighting the various points made by the proponents and opponents of the gun control. The essay posits that gun control is counterproductive. The debate on gun control revolves around how the laws to be implemented will affect the acquisition of guns by the criminals as well as law abiding citizens. Gun control proponents are of the opinion that in the absence of gun control laws, criminals will acquire guns too easily. In the same vein, if all citizens are armed, criminals will have a greater incentive to acquire guns. Hence, there will be too many guns in circulation and crime cases will increase. • 8. The Impact Of Electric Vehicles On The Environment The planet changes over time, but people cause negative impact to their environment. To protect Earth, consumers need to be conscious of their role as technology continues to advance. More specifically, the automobile industry creates pollution, in 2013, transportation contributed more than half of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons emitted into our air (ucs). Conventional vehicles, utilizing internal combustion engines, cause these harmful emissions, but electric vehicles protect the environment while providing consumers with an efficient use of energy. Energy serves as a crucial factor in technology and allows society to operate, but certain usages harm the world. As arguments develop about pollution and its effects, society needs to take the step towards clean energy. The transportation industry releases pollution through fumes caused by combustion within engines. In terms of automobiles, the conventional gasoline vehicles and electric vehicles compete to gain attention from consumers. The electric vehicle uses energy more efficiently than the gasoline vehicle, which loses energy through combustion. Additionally, the EV offers performance benefits for individuals. While offering a smooth and quiet drive, these vehicles require less maintenance. Finally, the EV allows money to stay within the nation, since local utility companies produce electricity. This movie was about a girl named Helena, she worked in a circus with her Mom and Dad and they barely got by financially. Helena didn t want to work in the circus anymore, she wanted to be normal like everybody else. Helena is also an incredible artist, her room was filled with artwork. When she falls asleep one day, she woke up in a magical land that was filled with her drawings, the kingdom was her drawings. After finding out they need to get the mirrormask to save the kingdom, she embarks on an adventure to save the kingdom and along the way, she meets a guy, that accompanies alongside with her. Is it true love? From watching MirrorMask, this movie had different elements than a regular fairy tale. It didn t have an evil stepmother, an absentee father and not really a prince charming at the end of the film. I would say, this movie was mostly about growing up and realizing that even if you don t have much, you should still be grateful for what you have. Helena was very ungrateful she had two parents that were always there for her, they didn t have a lot of money, but they had each other and Helena didn t seem to understand that. The Role Of Perceptual Dialectology In order to take full advantage of research in the field of perceptual dialectology, it is essential to not view it as an isolated discipline but to discuss it in the framework of linguistics and other fields it touches upon. According to Preston, perceptual dialectolo gy is a sub category of folk linguistics, which itself belongs to sociolinguistics. He in cludes the study of both, conscious and subconscious responses to language variation in the term (Preston 2011: 15), and emphasizes the importance of cognitive processes into consideration, making it synonymous with the term attitude studies ( or the social psy chology of language ) (Preston 2013: 93). Perceptual dialectology helps to identify these stereotypes and analyze the rela tionships between different speech communities. • 13. Characteristics Of Humility Of God The Meek Is Humble Before God Two Characteristics of Meekness Meekness could be examined by towards God and towards neighbors because these two are the objects of meekness. Craston structurally described a concept of meekness. He said that meekness is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place, but it results in gentle, forgiving unselfishness towards others. This explanation shows the characteristics of meekness. His definition is composed of two parts; the first part is humility of God and it come from trustful submission . The second part is unselfishness towards others and it has mildness and pardon. Meekness towards God Meekness is partially overlapped concept with humility. Henry understood meekness as a gracious easiness to be wrought upon by that which is good. Brakel defined humility is the humble disposition of the heart of the believer. Meekness and humility both direct to a specific inclination of spirit. Then, what meekness and humility are different? Trench distinguished meekness from humility. He argued that humility is acknowledgement of creatureliness, of absolute dependence, of possessing nothing and of receiving all things from God. , and meekness is an inwrought grace of the soul that is exercised primarily toward God. When Craston argued that meekness is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place , humility should come before meekness; in other words, humility would be a foundation of meekness in the light of its characteristics. However, according to Trench s distinction, humility is relatively more passive than meekness. Humility remains in understanding of creatureliness, and absolute dependence, but meekness is exercised primarily toward God. Word of God and Providence of God Thomas Watson understood that meekness towards God implies into submit to the word of God and the providence of God. Regarding the word of God, the meek will obey the word of God because he already understands necessities of absolute dependence on God. The film followed three student filmmakers who aimed to create a documentary about a local legend called the Blair Witch. While the film alluded to various hallmarks of the horror film genre, it was groundbreaking in its marketing strategy, the use of found footage, and cinematography. In many ways, The Blair Witch Project adheres to various tropes and traditions of the horror movie genre. The film includes some characteristics of the Italian Giallo genre. The audiences know not to run into abandoned houses, yell in the forest, or run away in different directions but the protagonists do not. The audience then engages with the film using their insider knowledge by yelling or commenting at the main characters to avoid the pitfalls of the horror genre. Allowing drilling off the coasts of the U.S. would also create over 100,000 new jobs. Over $1 trillion in royalties for federal and state governments could be collected. By using our own reserves we will spend far less on imported oil and move closer to our energy independence. According to a study done by the American Petroleum Institute, if offshore areas were opened to new exploration and drilling, the national production is estimated to increase by 36% in 20 years. Federal royalties are estimated to be approximately $4 trillion over the project life cycle; A hefty weight off future tax payers if applied to the federal deficit. The narrative moves through several interpretive frameworks Vladek s perspective, and Artie s perspective, both of his father and of his father s story and how he s choosing to tell it. Throughout these various levels of interpretation, questions are posed in innumerable ways. Vladek s behavior when he talks about (or even uses) his experiences, Artie s perspective of his father, and the symbolic representation of the animals, are all expressions of identity that come through as the result of the individual s frame of interpretation. In one panel, he says, In some ways he s just like the racist caricature of the miserly old Jew (Maus I, Spiegelman 131). It s important to Artie to portray his father accurately, but he s understandably concerned about playing into stereotypes. Just like the animal and nationality stereotypes, the stereotypes that Vladek fits into work in two ways. Vladek is the miserly old Jew but the text shows over and over again that this same pragmatic tendency helped him survive a lot of times in the war, and so in some ways validates the practice. It s important to note though, that the tendency to save negatively affected Mala and Artie; they both carried a lot of resentment towards Vladek in the ways that he denied them a lot of basic necessities, and in a lot of ways prioritized material items and money over members of his family. So while the text shows an explanation of sorts for Vladek s behavior, it doesn t necessarily make excuses for the problems he caused with his actions later on. The engagement between cultural perceptions and lived experience continues the subversive action that is the basic underlying function of the texts. (Maus II, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Judith Butler s Gender Trouble, she identifies a need for a new interpretation of gender against the previous regime of gender hierarchy and compulsory heterosexuality. In this essay, I will argue that Judith Butler s approach to gender politics is an improvement on previous attitudes towards homophobia. I will do this through a close contextual reading of Butler s work, particularly Gender Trouble and her article Imitation and Gender Insubordination. Butler calls for a more fluid, variable interpretation of gender that would strive for a new equality where subjects are not restricted to notions of masculinity or femininity . Butler herself argues that gender is performance and is false, and this act of doing is just a social construct. This then calls into question what the alternatives can be, and this essay will argue these improvements on attitudes towards homosexuality requires a deconstruction of attitudes towards gender. It will argue this through, firstly, establishing that a patriarchal societal regime with a mind towards procreation has the expectation of conformity to binary gender roles in place. From this, it can be drawn that sexual preference is inherently linked to gender construction, which needs to be challenged. And then from these first two premises it guides us to question what the binaries of male or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
