The Theme Of Money In My Mortal Enemy By Willa Cather
There are many themes and symbols shown throughout My Mortal Enemy by Willa Cather, from love
to marriages, and choices. The motif I want to analyze is the motif of money. Money is used
throughout the whole book, it used to help persuade decisions, it characterizes their lavish lifestyle,
and it is what caused Oswald to become Myra s mortal enemy.
Myra, being an orphan child was raised by her great uncle, John Driscoll, who grew up a poor boy and
made his fortune employing contract labor in the Mississippi swamps (10). The novel describes their
lavish lifestyle in which they lived in a grand house on a ten acre park and was the finest property in
Parthia. Mr. Driscoll had fast horses that made national record, and Myra would throw balls and
garden parties, where she would have the band play their music (10). Myra s aunt said that Myra had
everything: dresses and jewels, a fine riding horse, a Steinway piano , and how her uncle took her to
Ireland and had her painted by one of the famous painters there (10 11).
At a youthful age, Myra did not care about money, though she cared about love. She fell in love with a
gentleman named Oswald Henshawe, but Mr. Driscoll had an old grudge of some sort with Oswald
father, and Driscoll did not like the idea Myra and Oswald being together. Oswald had left Parthia and
went to college at Harvard; he then moved to New York and after two years he was in the position to
get married (12). Then he wrote to John Driscoll for Myra s hand in

Ethical Leadership In The Island And Kurt Vonnegut s The...
According to the Oxford Dictionary, Ethical Leadership is leadership that is directed by respect to
embrace the ethical beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others. However, not all
leaders are driven by their moral principles given that authoritative people can often be selfish and
inconsiderate of the people under their control. In The Island, a film directed by Michael Bay, Dr.
Merrick, the founder of Merrick Biotech, is in control of secretly bred clones. Similarly, Kurt
Vonnegut s All the King s Horses, characterizes a Colonel named Bryan Kelly who dominates sixteen
other Americans. A leader s exertion of power to manipulate others is commonly discerned in a
negative and invidious way. Nonetheless, this notion is challenged as it pertains to both the film and
the story in different ways. Although both works exhibit a leader s manipulation of humans for one s
personal gain, The Island portrays a superior, Dr. Merrick as an unethical leader, whereas All the King
s Horses shows a manipulator, Colonel Bryan Kelly, who abides the moral principles of an ethical
leader. Should thesis specify what makes the leader ethical? The Island manifests an unethical leader,
Dr. Merrick, who dictates the lives of the clones, not with the purpose of improving and facilitating
the clone s lifestyle, but solely for the purpose of earning a profit. Dr. Merrick is the leader of all the
clones and everyone under his control depend on him to keep them healthy.

Lysosomal Porage Diseases Case Study
ABSTRACT
Lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs) are a group of genetic disorders, resulting from deficiencies of
lysosomal enzyme. Genotype phenotype correlation is essential for timely and proper treatment
allocation. Recently, by integrating prediction outcomes of 7 bioinformatics tools, we developed a
SAAMP algorithm to predict amino acid substitutions. To optimize this approach, we evaluated the
performance of these bioinformatics tools in a broad array of genes. PolyPhen and PROVEAN had the
best performances, while SNP GOs, PANTHER and I Mutant had the worst performances. Therefore,
SAAMP 2.0 was developed by excluding 3 tools with worst performance, yielding a sensitivity of
94% and a specificity of 90%. To generalize the guideline to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It depends on the degree of protein function affected by specific mutations, the biochemistry of the
storage materials, as well as the cell types where storage occurs.
Diagnosis of LSDs is an often long and burdensome odyssey [4], which usually includes
quantification of macromolecules excreted in urine, enzyme assay with leukocytes (or cultured skin
fibroblasts), mutation analysis and symptoms based judgment. An alternative approach is newborn
screening (NBS) program, which shortens the diagnostic process. Early detection by NBS allows for
early initiation of disease modifying treatment which is essential for optimal treatment efficacy.
However, NBS usually leads to the identification of individuals with low enzyme activity with
previously unreported genetic variants of unknown significance [5]. Therefore, decisions on treatment
initiation can be complicated in pre symptomatic patients, and a robust phenotypic prediction is
essential.
To this end, we utilized the bioinformatics tools to analyze mutations in the IDUA gene and
established a guideline for predicting genotype phenotype correlation [6]. As shown in Figure 1, a step
by step guideline for phenotype prediction of MPS I disease was established. When a mutation is
identified, 1) if it is a known disease causing mutation, refer to previous literature for deducing
phenotype severity; 2) if not, conduct in silico analyses. More

Topics in Labor Relations
Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name
implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something.
Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide
important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include
compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can
also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13).
According to our text book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance, increased focus on quality and

This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who
championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions.
The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These
provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers
representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to
form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive
representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining
over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121).
The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and
prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life
example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft
manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its
787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line
is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was
because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future.

A Brief Note On The World Wide Web
The world wide web has a wide range of uses. From finding resources for research papers to
diagnosing diseases by Googling symptoms, the spectrum of its utility is endless. While the web might
be a great platform to find information, not all of the information out there is credible and thus using
the internet in place of a doctor is not acceptable and needs to stop, or at least be carried out warily.
It is understandable why one would prefer a quick Google search over a trip to the doctor s office. The
increasing cost of healthcare factors into why people prefer to look for answers for their medical
issues over the Internet. Healthcare can not only be expensive, but also stressful. Making an
appointment, driving down to the hospital, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A pictorial representation of the Pew Research Center statistics (pewinternet.org)
The first and foremost issue with resorting to the world wide web for answers to questions relating to
medicine is that a lot of the medical information available on the internet is not factual. Sites such as
WebMD are hilariously defined on urbandictionary.com as something that makes a mild cold into a
deadly disease that will kill you within the next 24 hours . It is not advisable to blindly accept and
assume a certain diagnosis on the basis of an online search. As Dr. Kevin Pho of KevinMD.com
pointed out, There s a lot of bad information on the Web and information that can be dangerous.
(CNN) Not every website out there has a real doctor sitting behind a desk, updating information on a
regular basis and modifying responses based on the independent cases of patients that seek out this
information. Most of the websites have false, unproven, biased information that could cause some
serious consequences if assumed to be true. Some websites go to the extent of

Nicholas 2 Essay
After Nicholas II ended some of the totalitarian bans on free speech and assembly, the masses in
Russia organized strikes in the streets of Petrograd in late February (Service 2005). The strikes
continued for four days as the Russian military did not wish to fire on the crowd of protesters as
ordered by Nicholas II (Beckett 2007). Reasons suggested for the military s reluctance to follow
orders include the number of women involved and the soldiers own socially aligned sympathies (Wade
2000). According to the old calendar, the February Revolution occurred on February 26, 1917 as
protesters tore down reminders of Nicholas II s regime (Ibid). Even the loyal troops aligned
themselves with the revolutionaries the following day (Ibid). Nicholas II, after having been stopped by
mutinying troops, eventually abdicated his throne in early March (Beckett 2007). ... Show more

Go Ask Alice Is Written By An Anonymous Author Essay
The novel Go ask Alice is written by an anonymous author and is based on a diary kept by a
conventional teenager who then turns into a suicidal drug addict. What happens to Alice at one
unsavoury party changed her life forever. She is invited to Jill s party, someone she doesn t know well,
where her drink is unknowingly spiked with LSD. Not long after that Alice amassed a dependence on
drugs, for example she was unable to last even a few days sober. The author of the diary, Alice, has a
raw style and format of writing that fascinated me. The writing style exposed real emotions, and did
not hold back. It was as if Alice was talking to her best friend and thought that no one would see her
diary. I also think that because I am a teenager and so is Alice I was able to relate to the life she had
and the pressures she feels. Alice taught me that even saying yes once to drugs, could lead to life
threatening consequences. The themes I noticed were, the influence of the media, the highs and lows
of teenage life and the dangers of drug use.
Something I found unique about the book was the style and format. Go ask Alice is one of the few
books I have read that was written in diary form, I liked the way that it skipped from one day to the
next yet still kept making sense. I also enjoyed the way the writer described the highs on drugs, as not
many other books with powerful moral messages surrounding the dangers of drugs actually expose
what it is like to be on drugs. The book s honesty

How Is The Bourgeoisie Related To The Rise Of Capitalism
Although Karl Marx criticized the private property and exploitation of labor in the bourgeoisie
governed society, he contended that Capitalism was progressive in history. (p.67)The capitalist had
indeed played a revolutionary part in mode of production, of exchange, and relation of production.
The epoch of capitalism set a consolidated material basis by enhancing the productive force. The rise
of bourgeoisie propels novel and effective modes of production and improves people s living standard.
The bourgeoisie put up a manufacturing system with unskilled worker. The division of labor in such
system allows more workers to do easier tasks and thus increasing the commodity production, when
the traditional feudal economics could not satisfy the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The economic power eventually developed into political power that supported the bourgeoisie to
replace the outdated aristocracy. Marx believed the instability of society came from the
incompatibility of the massive productive forces and its obsolete relation of production.(p.70)
Capitalism emerged in the age of feudalism, and was itself adapted to the feudal society well enough
in the early stage; however, having constantly improved its modes of production and of exchange, at
certain stage, the political and economic characters of feudal society impede the development of
productive forces. Therefore, capitalism began to set up a constitution to replace the outmoded rule
and furthering production. Therefore, French Revolution was a representation of the middle class rebel
against the feudalism to change the relation of production. The bourgeoisie, although out of
themselves profits, endeavor to terminate the feudal, patriarchal and idyllic relation (67) and therefore
removing natural superiors and improving equality in society. In this sense, capitalism is more

since the very beginning of its history. More than fifteen hundred years ago a Malay kingdom in

different cultures, but several in particular have had especially lasting influence on the country. Chief
among these is the ancient Malay culture, and the cultures of Malaysia s two most prominent trading
partners throughout history the Chinese, and the Indians. These three groups are joined by a dizzying

In addition, the management team has proved that it has capability to turnaround the bankrupted
company into the company that has positive net income in less than one year!
2.2 Weakness
The financial statements contain some inappropriateness of projected figures. In 2004, the notes
payable show a negative balance what is a very rare projection. In addition, the very low gross margin
and net income is inconsistent with its mission. Elan wants to be hyper efficient in its manufacturing,
however the figures presented in the projected financial statement imply that it cannot manage to be
efficient because the manufacturing costs represent 70% of the total sales and continue to increase
over the periods. The projected net income represents only 1 to 5 percent of the total sales. With this
amount of net income, Elan cannot be a true market leader in profitability as Ben wanted.
Projected current ratios of 1.5, 1.7, 2.1 give liquidity concerns.
Projected quick ratios of 0.6/0.66 for 2002/2003 cause concern as well. From the wide gap between
current and quick ratios, it can be interpreted that work in process and finished inventory represents a
very critical amount of the total current asset. In addition, the inventory turnover is forecasted to
decrease over the years. This implies more inventory piles up for the firm and can

Unferth s Courage In Beowulf
A viking, a hairy monster, and a beardless fraud. Who sounds more noble? The viking of course
sounds noble, strong, honorable. Unferth is more noble than the other two characters; his courage is
shown through when he continues to fight Grendel despite defeat, truth is shown when he tells
Grendel why he is fighting, discipline is shown when he asks Grendel to kill him, and perseverance is
shown when Unferth refuses to give up on killing Grendel. Unferth s shows much more courage than
the other two characters. He keeps fighting Grendel despite being defeated every time. Grendel sees
this as pathetic shown when he says He lives on, bitter, feebly challenging my midnight raids

Analysis Of The Pathophysiological Framework Of Dilated...
Dilated Cardiomyopathy Cardiomyopathy is the deterioration of muscles within the heart which in
turn causes the heart to become thick, rigid or enlarged; this physiological change causes decreased
contractility and may lead to arrhythmias or heart failure (VanMeter and Hubert, 2013). In the case
study, the client is a seven year old girl from Chetwynd who is recently diagnosed with dilated
cardiomyopathy. When she was ten months old, she underwent a heart transplant for her hypoplastic
left heart syndrome. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is a complex and rare heart defect that is
congenital, or present at birth, in which the left side of the heart is severely underdeveloped. The left
ventricle is not functional and therefore the left side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rapid degeneration of myocardial fibers and diffuse inflammation lead to ventricular dilation and
hypertrophy which cause atrial enlargement and stasis of blood in the left ventricle (Park, 2008). The
enlargement of the remaining heart chambers is mainly due to left ventricular failure, but it may also
be secondary to the primary cardiomyopathic process. Dilated cardiomyopathy is associated with both
systolic and diastolic dysfunctions, with decreased systolic function being the predominant
abnormality (Parker, 2008). This dysfunction leads to decreased contractility and general contractile
dysfunction (Parker, 2008). Progressive dilation can lead to significant mitral and tricuspid
regurgitation, which may further decrease the cardiac output and increase end systolic volumes and
ventricular wall stress. In turn, this leads to further dilation and myocardial dysfunction (Friedberg,
2008). Dilated cardiomyopathy is the most common type of heart muscle disease in pediatrics (Chow,
Ateah, Scott, Ricci, Kyle, 2013). Dilated cardiomyopathy can be a life threatening condition and can
decrease life expectancy if severe damage occurs. Currently, the five year survival rate for children
diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy is between forty and eighty percent. The survival rate
decreases if they child is diagnosed at five years or older (Friedberg, 2008).

My Personal And Professional Branding
Critical Elements My personal and professional branding are the same: being passionate about not
limiting myself by my thoughts or actions, I am here to push the boundaries with those around me.
This may sound simple, but there is a lot that goes into it. Building a network of strong, confident
people is the key to being successful. My goal is to keep building these professional relationships as
well as in my personal life with the help of social media and goal setting. For my professional
branding, I am seeking others who are successful in the digital advertising industry. If I am able to
connect with these individuals, it will help to make me more successful by learning from them.
However, I want our relationship to go both ways, we learn from each other and communicate openly.
If I know my client works with a network, I am unable to connect with hopefully they can get me in
the door and I can give them the referral business. My personal branding is very similar. I want to
surround myself with people who are motivated or have positivity as a goal. If they need
encouragement, I am there to help them. The stronger and more successful they become, the better I
feel about myself. Someday, they will help to encourage me to never stop being the best I can be. It is
give and take. Working on my social media networking opens up more doors. I use LinkedIn,
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as my main platforms. LinkedIn works great for my professional
branding, without it I

EXTERNAL Brand Review: As stated previously, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema mostly engages in
word of mouth advertising and signature events to bolster their public relations efforts. With the
expansion, however, the Alamo has hired external advertising agencies to handle small marketing

Reflective Essay On Service Learning
Service learning is always viewed as being something you just have to do. If you want a good grade,
then you do it, but you rush through it because you don t appreciate the opportunity. I used to think
about it that way because it seemed like it was just wasting my time. However, I ve discovered that the
older I get, the more I analyze things, whether it be school work or general life questions. Over the
summer, I had an abundance of time to think things through and work out everything in my mind. I
believe that service learning can help you realise your passion as it did with me. I volunteered at
Martin Millennium to help clean up their campus and revitalize the Earth on which their school stands.
I spread mulch in areas of dry soil and around the playground, so the kids could play without fear of
hurting themselves. We spread the mulch around the trees and by the walkways. I volunteered at the
Tender Mercies pet organization as well. I helped feed the dogs and walk them outside. I did the daily
routine of washing food bowls and dog blankets too. During my time volunteering at Tender Mercies,
I learned that no matter how many times you think you ve seen it all, you will always find something
to amaze you. I ve previously said that over the the summer, I thought about things and sometimes
thinking too much can lead to bad things. I don t really know why, but dogs have a way to sense when
you re upset and they always make you feel better. I ve learned that happiness is

What Is The Mood Of The Movie Rashomon
The movie Rashomon by Akira Kurosawa is told through the perspectives of multiple characters.
Three guys are killing time by sharing their perspectives on a story while they wait for the rain to stop.
The movie depends on dialogue and detail in every scene which gives us information to compare the
different perspectives that is told by each character. Throughout the film, the audience and the
characters do not know who is telling the true story. Akira decided not to use dramatic irony but
instead he decided that we were not going to know the same things that the characters did not know,

To Kill A Mockingbird Social Hierarchy Essay
Pecking order is defined as a hierarchy within a social group or community, in which those members
at the top assume positions of authority. The expression was also used for an economic theory that
explains capital structure. It came from a report on the behavior among chickens, which establish
dominance by pecking each other. Although humans do not use the same tactics to prove their power,
there are several factors play a part in one s social class, such as social interaction, education, and
occupation. The communities we live in are shaped by the social hierarchy. This is apparent in the
stories we tell, such as books like To Kill a Mockingbird, A Raisin in the Sun, and the documentary

Analysis Of The FilmPony Excess And Friday Night Lights
Mostly all film s encounter variety amounts of elements to create a beneficial film. To obtain an
interesting design of a film, directors manipulate the different fundamentals of cinematography to
enhance a symbolic meaning. Some film s can be categorized into two types, which are realistic and
formalistic aesthetics. For instance, the film Pony Excess is a realist aesthetic film that proclaims the
actuality of a film, while the formalist aesthetic film, Friday Night Lights, focuses on the persuasion of
emotions. In the film s Pony Excess and Friday Night Lights, realist and formalist aesthetics are
conveyed through the fundamentals of a film, which are collision sound, fast and slow motion, real
people, and on camera interviews to portray the reality and inner connection of a movie. One of the
key elements in a film is nailing the affection of a particular sound to the audience during a scene. In
most formalist film s there are two types of sounds, synchronous and asynchronous sound that
produces a collision sound. Synchronous sound is shown in Friday Night Lights by involving the
actual collision sounds of two football players clashing while they are playing. These sounds make the
audience acknowledge the aggression of the football players and the viewers can try to develop an
idea of the pain that the blocking process of football may cause. In the film, asynchronous sound is
initiated when one of the players gets hurt. For instance, football player, Boobie, got

How Emotional Support Is For Men
When men come home, women should avoid asking what happened at work rather talk sometimes
nice, about kids or tell them the good news (if you have received any) or talk about general things. Let
s talk about how emotional support looks like and what emotional support is for men: Men want
women to be on their side. Find ways to let your husband know that you support them in whatever
they do and you will stand by them no matter what happens. When the world is against him, stand up
for them. You should show your partner that you value all that he values. This definitely adds a sense
of security, intimacy and teamwork to your relationship. Husbands want more touch and physical
affection from their partners and not only sex. Cuddle up with your husband s while watching
television, give them a big, tight hug and kiss them, or just give them a five minute rub while you both
lay in bed together Make some extra effort and show your partners physical affection consistently.
This surely makes them feel good. Husband s at times wanted to share their burden and tensions with
their wives. If your partner is stressed about their upcoming presentation or work, ask them if they
need your help to make their work a little easier. Small gestures could make a huge difference
especially on days when they are stressed out. Occasionally, men want their wives to join them in their
hobby. It might just be playing the guitar with him, playing chess with him or working out with him.

Mosques and Kramats

oldest religion introduced to the country. The first Muslims brought to the cape arrived as Malay

No one can catch cancer from another person. While it can seldom be explained why one person gets
any type of cancer and another doesn t, it is very clear that the disease is not contagious.
Although research scientists do not know the exact causes of cancer of the pancreas, they are always

In the biopsy, the doctor will remove a piece of tissue from the pancreas. A pathologist then examines
the tissue sample under a microscope to check for cancer cells.
Tissue samples that are obtained with one kind of biopsy may not give a clear diagnosis, and the
biopsy may need to be repeated using a different method.
One of the ways to obtain tissue is by using a long needle that is passed through the skin and into the
pancreas, hence the name needle biopsy. Doctors will use either x rays or ultrasound to properly guide
the placement of the needle to obtain the sample.
A brush biopsy is performed during the ERCP. The doctor will insert a very small brush through the

Examples Of The Affiliate Model
2.4.4.4. The Affiliate Model
This model consists in selling product(s) or service(s) not created by the company, generating revenue
through a commission. To give some examples to understand how the model works: Airbnb the
company which connects customers and providers of places in different cities worldwide, doesn t sell
any product or service, their business consists in connecting people and getting a commission for the
usage of their website to enable this relation. Skyscanner gives the customer multiple options to book
an airplane ticket from different Airlines, so basically they don t have an own product/service although
they do work based on commissions with the airlines to promote and display their ticket prices for
specific destinations.
The idea would be to charge a commission value for each sale (cost per acquisition), as a broker (as
Ebay does) or charge per click (as Skyscanner does). When the cost per acquisition is used, the
company charges when a user buys directly following the advertisement place in the webpage, at the

The World s First Debate On Morality
In 11th Century, The Spanish Empire sent men to conquer the Americas and they discovered natives in
the area. As a result of their interactions with the natives, a debate as to how they should treat or
interact with the natives got to a boiling point, and was settled in a debate in Valladolid in 1550, with
two men defending either side of the world s first debate on morality. One of these men was
Bartolomé de las Casas, a Dominican Catholic friar who spent some time with the American Natives,
and debated to defend them against any harsh rule or handling by the hands of the Spanish. On the
other end was Juan GinĂ©s de SepĂșlveda, an Aristotelian philosopher, argued for the enslavement of
these natives due to the superiority of the Spanish over them. They both held strong convictions about
their arguments, however Las Casas argument was made more effectively because he was more
rational in his argument. Alternatively, SepĂșlveda chose an exaggerated appeal to emotions as his
approach for the argument he was making. SepĂșlveda appeals to emotion in a variety of ways one of
them being exaggerated language. In the beginning of his Treatise on the Just Causes of War against
the Indians , he asked, what moderation or mildness can you expect of men who are given to all kinds
of intemperance and wicked lusts, and who eat human flesh? The colorful use of words such as

Improving Vehicular Network And Road Safety Essay
Abstract Although the spread in Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) research, eventual high end
vehicles are conventional to under utilize the on Board computation, communication, and Storage
resources. So, there is need to move from conventional VANET to Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC)
by combining VANET with cloud computing. Also, VANETs use an open medium for communication
and consequently are exposed to security threats that impact their Reliability. We address some major
design concern that will affect the future performance of VCC and provide a set of security and
privacy protecting protocols. We address relatively unique security challenges resulted by features of
VCC e.g. The challenges of authentication of high mobility vehicles and the complexity of trust
relationships among multi players caused by intermittent short range communication. We propose data
trust security model designed for VANETs based on social network theories. Our intention is to help
readers better understand the fundamental vehicular cloud computing mechanisms and mark out the
potential applications for improving vehicular network and road safety. We present a extensive
taxonomy of vehicular networking and analysis between MCC and VCC. In addition, we explain the
VCC architecture, and the extensive application scenario. Each vehicle in VCC can connect to the

The Implementation Of E Government
Analysis
As the largest developed country, The United States has the most advanced national e government
infrastructure in the world. It also has a a long history and culture in democratic government structures
and the capitalist economic system. As a result, the US government has taken three principles in the
implementation of e government strategy. First is a citizen centered, rather than bureaucracy centered.
The other two is results oriented and market based, actively promoting in novation (source:
www.firstgov.gov). In short, the implementation strategy of e government in the US is market based
with the aim of serving and supporting citizens specific requirements, which is assessed by clear and
specific results.
Policy environment is an important consideration in the United States, in order to understand the
strategy of e government implementation. A complete set of laws related to the development of e
government is already in place, including the Privacy Act, the Computer Matching and Privacy
Protection Act, the Electronic Freedom of Information Amendments, the Computer Security Act, the
Critical Infrastructure Protection, the Government Paperwork Elimination Act, and the Electronic
Government Act (Relyea, 2002).
However, if we take China as an example of developing countries, the first e government
implementation project in China began in 1994. According to the 11th Report of the Statistic of China

You Ve Been Target Marketing Strategy
You ve Been Targeted Student Name School Name You ve Been Targeted Companies take serious care
when marketing their products or services to consumers. Consumers, therefore, are exposed to
hundreds of advertisements each day with each ad specifically placed to maximize exposure to its
potential target market. In the internet age, consumers are targeted more than ever. The following
paper details four products or services and the targeting strategies behind them. These products and
services are: Netflix, Apple s iPhone 7+, Edushape s Marublous Marble Run, and Chobani yogurt.
Netflix is an on demand, subscription based streaming service that allows subscribers to instantly
stream thousands of movies and television shows. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Binge watching is a popular term to describe how consumers interact with the service (Jenner, 2016).
This is due to how Netflix has differentiated itself from its competitors, especially early on. Netflix
was at the forefront of internet content streaming. The service allows viewers to watch high quality
content whenever and wherever they want. This was a huge change from before when consumers had
to subscribe to content channels such as HBO or Showtime through their cable provider and wait for a
show they like to come on. Netflix s competitors are Hulu and Amazon Prime, but Netflix is the clear
leader in the content streaming market. The iPhone 7+ targets its market by offering a top of the line
smart phone that is equipped with an efficient operating system. Their main competitor in the market
is Samsung. Apple has not done much in recent years to compete with Samsung, even purchasing
Samsung displays for their upcoming iPhone 8. However, in comparison to other competitors, the
iPhone 7+ positions itself by offering one of the best cameras, stereo quality speakers, and an HD
display. Edushape s Marublous Marble Run is more of a niche product. The product s overall design is
unique and that alone differentiates itself in the toy market. However, the product s design does not aid
in its positioning. The marble run competes with many other building toys such as Legos. The toy

White Fang Comparison
The protagonists of Jack London s White Fang and Andy Weir s The Martian both face a potentially
fatal situation in their respective novels. White Fang follows the story of a man being hunted by
wolves across the tundra of Northern Canada, while The Martian is about an American astronaut
called Mark Watney who is accidently left behind on the deserted planet of Mars during a mission
evacuation. Although both men are in similarly fatal situations, due to the differences in their
individual scenarios, they react uniquely to the possibility of death. Both Jack London and Andy Weir
use the tone of the narrative to develop their individual characters in their reactions to the motif of
death, leading to the revelation of multiple idiosyncratic characteristics ... Show more content on

Both characters are faced with death, whether immediate or delayed, and although they both show
resilience in their attempts to survive, the tone of Watney s narrative has an uplifting, hopeful quality
that is non existent in that of Henry. Watney s hope comes from his upbeat nature with the added
aspect of the fact that his entire crew survived. His thinks his situation is not completely hopeless and
he makes plans for when he survives such as that he will tell people [he] was pissing rocket fuel and
that he will buy beers for everyone if [he] get[s] back to Earth . While his colloquial language forms a
connection with the reader, it also demonstrates his hope for the future, as if he truly believes he will
survive. In contrast, Henry remarks on how the wolves remind him of children gathered about a
spread table... awaiting permission to begin to eat . Knowing that he was the food they were to eat , his
words hold no tenacity. This could be due to the fact that, unlike Watney, he has little reason to hope,
since the wolf pack killed his friends and there is no one to help him. Despite the characters different
attitudes they both persevere and prevent their death. At all times both could completely give up and
succumb to the natural force which opposes them, but neither does, using their own ways of coping to
maintain some

Grilled Pineapple Diet
Whether you re dieting or trying to cut down on sugary desserts, there are ways to satisfy your sweet
tooth without actually taking sugar into your body. These recipes have fruit as their main ingredient,
which means they re a lot healthier than sugar alternatives. They ll still make you feel as if you re not
depriving yourself of sweets.
Grilled Pineapple with Yogurt and Pistachios
For your pineapple recipe, it s best to stick with the actual fruit. Stay away from pineapple in a can
since it often has added sugar and syrups.

United States And Territorial States
Although archaeologists debate the definition of city states, territorial states, and when they become
an empire, there are some basic outlines that can be followed. City states are densely populated area
with a socially stratified society made of people spanning from elite and nobles down through to crafts
people and farmers; complex, administrative, political, and governmental bodies that guide everyday
activities (Scarre Fagan, 2003). City states are predominantly made up of the same ethnicities, who
share a similar culture, while Territorial states are political centers with other portions of society living
outside a main administrative area (Scarre Fagan, 2003). Territorial states are normally made up of
varying ethnicities, languages and incorporate larger expanses of land (Scarre Fagan, 2003). An
Empire is a city state or state that conquers neighboring states to create a larger territory (Smiley,
2015: Unit 9). In addition, and empire has a governing body that implements a tax to help support the
population and governing powers and has a standing military that helps conquer, helps enforce the rule
of the state on the new territory, and minimize uprisings. In this essay I will describe three key
empires: the Romans, the Aztecs, and the Incas. The Roman were a culturally underdeveloped group,
one of several city states aligned with the city state of Etrua, and was under Etruscan rule for around
200 years before they rebelled. Subsequently they took the

African American Liberation Movement After Ww2
In the end, of World War II, there was an era called the liberation movement that continued through
the twentieth century. There were movements to defeat fascism and end colonial and racial domination
in other places of the world. It took two decades, but most of Africa and Asia had been decolonized.
And so in most cases liberation was peaceful, but other places had a struggle with it. With those
struggles in showed that independence would bring a whole new set of challenges. New African states
had a hard time with developing political systems. Africans were really not happy with the fact that
they had limited gains from colonial reform of 1940. Decolonization was going on in other parts of the
world such as India and elsewhere. Africans

Anila Daulatzi Essay Examples
The Muslim Professor being dragged off her flight, racially assaulted and then charged with no due
cause is an example of prejudice leading to immoral actions. On Tuesday, October 3rd of this year,
Anila Daulatzai, who teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art, boarded a Southwest flight in
order to see her sick father. Before the flight s departure, she noticed two canines and informed a flight
attendant of her acute allergy to dogs and then was then moved to the rear of the plane with no
conflict. However, shortly afterward she was told that she would have to leave the by two members of
the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. They then forcefully dragged her out of her seat and
they attempted to haul her off the plain, during the entire encounter the officers treated her roughly,
spoke to her in a condescending tone and treated her essentially like she was a criminal. Even after she
and the officers parted ways the ordeal continued because of their attempts to charge her of with
resisting arrest and disorderly conduct and threatening and racist letters in the mail. ... Show more

According to Southwest, one such reason is the fact the crew believed she had a fatal allergy to dogs.
Apparently, its reports said Daulatzai told staff about a life threatening allergy. If this was the case
then it would be in the Crew, Airport, and passengers best interest to have the professor disembark the
plane for safety reasons. Also, as you can see in the video she was clearly resisting against the officers
and making a disturbance in that environment which might have prompted the aggression from the

The Progressive Republican Views Of The State After World...
Born in Los Angeles, California on March 19,1891, raised in Bakersfield, California and attended UC
Berkley this California native would be the Progressive Republican who reshapes many aspects of
California in his three terms as Governor. Being modest and a realist, were key components in Earl
Warren s success. Although many may have disagreed with Earl Warren s leadership, he made
profound impacts on California by shaping the state after World War II, taking on controversial issues
and bringing lasting changes to California.
The profound impacts he made on shaping California after World War II begun during his time as
California s Attorney General and continued with him into his Governorship. With World War II
ending California would continue to experience an unpredictable expansion socially, economically,
and also set a proactive state government which was led by the Governor during this time of change.
Since California was experiencing a time of expansion, re shaping its post war economy and
continuing thriving programs were crucial. California Progressivism was key behind all of these
movements which ultimately shifted California s role in the nation and gave the sense that the war was
a defining moment in the state s history. A new economy allowed for many of the state s original
industries helped in the post war growth. These industries established themselves during the war
unlike other industries throughout the country, and by doing so helped the state more post war.

  • 3. The Theme Of Money In My Mortal Enemy By Willa Cather There are many themes and symbols shown throughout My Mortal Enemy by Willa Cather, from love to marriages, and choices. The motif I want to analyze is the motif of money. Money is used throughout the whole book, it used to help persuade decisions, it characterizes their lavish lifestyle, and it is what caused Oswald to become Myra s mortal enemy. Myra, being an orphan child was raised by her great uncle, John Driscoll, who grew up a poor boy and made his fortune employing contract labor in the Mississippi swamps (10). The novel describes their lavish lifestyle in which they lived in a grand house on a ten acre park and was the finest property in Parthia. Mr. Driscoll had fast horses that made national record, and Myra would throw balls and garden parties, where she would have the band play their music (10). Myra s aunt said that Myra had everything: dresses and jewels, a fine riding horse, a Steinway piano , and how her uncle took her to Ireland and had her painted by one of the famous painters there (10 11). At a youthful age, Myra did not care about money, though she cared about love. She fell in love with a gentleman named Oswald Henshawe, but Mr. Driscoll had an old grudge of some sort with Oswald father, and Driscoll did not like the idea Myra and Oswald being together. Oswald had left Parthia and went to college at Harvard; he then moved to New York and after two years he was in the position to get married (12). Then he wrote to John Driscoll for Myra s hand in ... • 4. Ethical Leadership In The Island And Kurt Vonnegut s The... According to the Oxford Dictionary, Ethical Leadership is leadership that is directed by respect to embrace the ethical beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others. However, not all leaders are driven by their moral principles given that authoritative people can often be selfish and inconsiderate of the people under their control. In The Island, a film directed by Michael Bay, Dr. Merrick, the founder of Merrick Biotech, is in control of secretly bred clones. Similarly, Kurt Vonnegut s All the King s Horses, characterizes a Colonel named Bryan Kelly who dominates sixteen other Americans. A leader s exertion of power to manipulate others is commonly discerned in a negative and invidious way. Nonetheless, this notion is challenged as it pertains to both the film and the story in different ways. Although both works exhibit a leader s manipulation of humans for one s personal gain, The Island portrays a superior, Dr. Merrick as an unethical leader, whereas All the King s Horses shows a manipulator, Colonel Bryan Kelly, who abides the moral principles of an ethical leader. Should thesis specify what makes the leader ethical? The Island manifests an unethical leader, Dr. Merrick, who dictates the lives of the clones, not with the purpose of improving and facilitating the clone s lifestyle, but solely for the purpose of earning a profit. Dr. Merrick is the leader of all the clones and everyone under his control depend on him to keep them healthy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Lysosomal Porage Diseases Case Study ABSTRACT Lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs) are a group of genetic disorders, resulting from deficiencies of lysosomal enzyme. Genotype phenotype correlation is essential for timely and proper treatment allocation. Recently, by integrating prediction outcomes of 7 bioinformatics tools, we developed a SAAMP algorithm to predict amino acid substitutions. To optimize this approach, we evaluated the performance of these bioinformatics tools in a broad array of genes. PolyPhen and PROVEAN had the best performances, while SNP GOs, PANTHER and I Mutant had the worst performances. Therefore, SAAMP 2.0 was developed by excluding 3 tools with worst performance, yielding a sensitivity of 94% and a specificity of 90%. To generalize the guideline to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It depends on the degree of protein function affected by specific mutations, the biochemistry of the storage materials, as well as the cell types where storage occurs. Diagnosis of LSDs is an often long and burdensome odyssey [4], which usually includes quantification of macromolecules excreted in urine, enzyme assay with leukocytes (or cultured skin fibroblasts), mutation analysis and symptoms based judgment. An alternative approach is newborn screening (NBS) program, which shortens the diagnostic process. Early detection by NBS allows for early initiation of disease modifying treatment which is essential for optimal treatment efficacy. However, NBS usually leads to the identification of individuals with low enzyme activity with previously unreported genetic variants of unknown significance [5]. Therefore, decisions on treatment initiation can be complicated in pre symptomatic patients, and a robust phenotypic prediction is essential. To this end, we utilized the bioinformatics tools to analyze mutations in the IDUA gene and established a guideline for predicting genotype phenotype correlation [6]. As shown in Figure 1, a step by step guideline for phenotype prediction of MPS I disease was established. When a mutation is identified, 1) if it is a known disease causing mutation, refer to previous literature for deducing phenotype severity; 2) if not, conduct in silico analyses. More ... • 11. Topics in Labor Relations Key Topics in Labor Relations 26 February 2012 Lynne Treykor Collective bargaining, as its name implies, is achieved when two or more parties come together to make a decision about something. Specifically, it is achieved when employers and a group of employees work together to decide important terms and conditions regarding employment. These terms and conditions include compensation as well as rights and responsibilities of employees, employers, and unions. They can also include guidelines for resolving problems such as grievances and disputes (Budd, 2010, p. 13). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This law is also known as the Wagner Act, named for Senator Robert F. Wagner, the man who championed it. In a nutshell this law protects employees rights to form and participate in labor unions. The book, Labor Relations: Striking a Balance identifies the central provisions of the Act. These provisions include the establishment of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) which answers representation questions and settles unfair labor practice claims. The act gives workers the right to form unions and bargain collectively. It identifies five unfair labor practices and establishes exclusive representation for unions that have majority support and grants them rights of collective bargaining over wages, hours of employment and other conditions of employment (Budd, 2010, pp. 119 121). The law also made it illegal for companies to fire employees for forming or joining unions and prohibited company managed unions. A news release on the NLRB website demonstrates a real life example of a potential violation of the NLRA. The news release describes how well known aircraft manufacturer, the Boeing Company has decided to establish a second non union production line for its 787 Dreamliner airplanes. This normally wouldn t be an issue but the company s main production line is in a union facility. Boeing stated that the reason they decided to use the non union plant was because of previous strikes and the possibility of more strikes occurring in the future. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From finding resources for research papers to diagnosing diseases by Googling symptoms, the spectrum of its utility is endless. While the web might be a great platform to find information, not all of the information out there is credible and thus using the internet in place of a doctor is not acceptable and needs to stop, or at least be carried out warily. It is understandable why one would prefer a quick Google search over a trip to the doctor s office. • 13. Nicholas 2 Essay After Nicholas II ended some of the totalitarian bans on free speech and assembly, the masses in Russia organized strikes in the streets of Petrograd in late February (Service 2005). The strikes continued for four days as the Russian military did not wish to fire on the crowd of protesters as ordered by Nicholas II (Beckett 2007). Reasons suggested for the military s reluctance to follow orders include the number of women involved and the soldiers own socially aligned sympathies (Wade 2000). According to the old calendar, the February Revolution occurred on February 26, 1917 as protesters tore down reminders of Nicholas II s regime (Ibid). • 16. Go Ask Alice Is Written By An Anonymous Author Essay The novel Go ask Alice is written by an anonymous author and is based on a diary kept by a conventional teenager who then turns into a suicidal drug addict. What happens to Alice at one unsavoury party changed her life forever. She is invited to Jill s party, someone she doesn t know well, where her drink is unknowingly spiked with LSD. Not long after that Alice amassed a dependence on drugs, for example she was unable to last even a few days sober. The author of the diary, Alice, has a raw style and format of writing that fascinated me. The writing style exposed real emotions, and did not hold back. It was as if Alice was talking to her best friend and thought that no one would see her diary. I also think that because I am a teenager and so is Alice I was able to relate to the life she had and the pressures she feels. Alice taught me that even saying yes once to drugs, could lead to life threatening consequences. The themes I noticed were, the influence of the media, the highs and lows of teenage life and the dangers of drug use. Something I found unique about the book was the style and format. Go ask Alice is one of the few books I have read that was written in diary form, I liked the way that it skipped from one day to the next yet still kept making sense. I also enjoyed the way the writer described the highs on drugs, as not many other books with powerful moral messages surrounding the dangers of drugs actually expose what it is like to be on drugs. The book s honesty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dilated Cardiomyopathy Cardiomyopathy is the deterioration of muscles within the heart which in turn causes the heart to become thick, rigid or enlarged; this physiological change causes decreased contractility and may lead to arrhythmias or heart failure (VanMeter and Hubert, 2013). In the case study, the client is a seven year old girl from Chetwynd who is recently diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. When she was ten months old, she underwent a heart transplant for her hypoplastic left heart syndrome. The rapid degeneration of myocardial fibers and diffuse inflammation lead to ventricular dilation and hypertrophy which cause atrial enlargement and stasis of blood in the left ventricle (Park, 2008). The enlargement of the remaining heart chambers is mainly due to left ventricular failure, but it may also be secondary to the primary cardiomyopathic process. Dilated cardiomyopathy is associated with both systolic and diastolic dysfunctions, with decreased systolic function being the predominant abnormality (Parker, 2008). This dysfunction leads to decreased contractility and general contractile dysfunction (Parker, 2008). Progressive dilation can lead to significant mitral and tricuspid regurgitation, which may further decrease the cardiac output and increase end systolic volumes and ventricular wall stress. In turn, this leads to further dilation and myocardial dysfunction (Friedberg, 2008). Dilated cardiomyopathy is the most common type of heart muscle disease in pediatrics (Chow, Ateah, Scott, Ricci, Kyle, 2013). Dilated cardiomyopathy can be a life threatening condition and can decrease life expectancy if severe damage occurs. To give some examples to understand how the model works: Airbnb the company which connects customers and providers of places in different cities worldwide, doesn t sell any product or service, their business consists in connecting people and getting a commission for the usage of their website to enable this relation. Skyscanner gives the customer multiple options to book an airplane ticket from different Airlines, so basically they don t have an own product/service although they do work based on commissions with the airlines to promote and display their ticket prices for specific destinations. The idea would be to charge a commission value for each sale (cost per acquisition), as a broker (as Ebay does) or charge per click (as Skyscanner does). When the cost per acquisition is used, the company charges when a user buys directly following the advertisement place in the webpage, at the same time pay per click charges the company each time a potential ... • 37. The World s First Debate On Morality In 11th Century, The Spanish Empire sent men to conquer the Americas and they discovered natives in the area. As a result of their interactions with the natives, a debate as to how they should treat or interact with the natives got to a boiling point, and was settled in a debate in Valladolid in 1550, with two men defending either side of the world s first debate on morality. One of these men was BartolomĂ© de las Casas, a Dominican Catholic friar who spent some time with the American Natives, and debated to defend them against any harsh rule or handling by the hands of the Spanish. On the other end was Juan GinĂ©s de SepĂșlveda, an Aristotelian philosopher, argued for the enslavement of these natives due to the superiority of the Spanish over them. They both held strong convictions about their arguments, however Las Casas argument was made more effectively because he was more rational in his argument. Alternatively, SepĂșlveda chose an exaggerated appeal to emotions as his approach for the argument he was making. SepĂșlveda appeals to emotion in a variety of ways one of them being exaggerated language. In the beginning of his Treatise on the Just Causes of War against the Indians , he asked, what moderation or mildness can you expect of men who are given to all kinds of intemperance and wicked lusts, and who eat human flesh? Improving Vehicular Network And Road Safety Essay Abstract Although the spread in Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) research, eventual high end vehicles are conventional to under utilize the on Board computation, communication, and Storage resources. So, there is need to move from conventional VANET to Vehicular Cloud Computing (VCC) by combining VANET with cloud computing. Also, VANETs use an open medium for communication and consequently are exposed to security threats that impact their Reliability. We address some major design concern that will affect the future performance of VCC and provide a set of security and privacy protecting protocols. We address relatively unique security challenges resulted by features of VCC e.g. The challenges of authentication of high mobility vehicles and the complexity of trust relationships among multi players caused by intermittent short range communication. We propose data trust security model designed for VANETs based on social network theories. Our intention is to help readers better understand the fundamental vehicular cloud computing mechanisms and mark out the potential applications for improving vehicular network and road safety. We present a extensive taxonomy of vehicular networking and analysis between MCC and VCC. In addition, we explain the VCC architecture, and the extensive application scenario. Binge watching is a popular term to describe how consumers interact with the service (Jenner, 2016). This is due to how Netflix has differentiated itself from its competitors, especially early on. Netflix was at the forefront of internet content streaming. The service allows viewers to watch high quality content whenever and wherever they want. This was a huge change from before when consumers had to subscribe to content channels such as HBO or Showtime through their cable provider and wait for a show they like to come on. Netflix s competitors are Hulu and Amazon Prime, but Netflix is the clear leader in the content streaming market. The iPhone 7+ targets its market by offering a top of the line smart phone that is equipped with an efficient operating system. Their main competitor in the market is Samsung. Apple has not done much in recent years to compete with Samsung, even purchasing Samsung displays for their upcoming iPhone 8. Both characters are faced with death, whether immediate or delayed, and although they both show resilience in their attempts to survive, the tone of Watney s narrative has an uplifting, hopeful quality that is non existent in that of Henry. Watney s hope comes from his upbeat nature with the added aspect of the fact that his entire crew survived. His thinks his situation is not completely hopeless and he makes plans for when he survives such as that he will tell people [he] was pissing rocket fuel and that he will buy beers for everyone if [he] get[s] back to Earth . While his colloquial language forms a connection with the reader, it also demonstrates his hope for the future, as if he truly believes he will survive. In contrast, Henry remarks on how the wolves remind him of children gathered about a spread table... awaiting permission to begin to eat . Knowing that he was the food they were to eat , his words hold no tenacity. This could be due to the fact that, unlike Watney, he has little reason to hope, since the wolf pack killed his friends and there is no one to help him. • 47. United States And Territorial States Although archaeologists debate the definition of city states, territorial states, and when they become an empire, there are some basic outlines that can be followed. City states are densely populated area with a socially stratified society made of people spanning from elite and nobles down through to crafts people and farmers; complex, administrative, political, and governmental bodies that guide everyday activities (Scarre Fagan, 2003). City states are predominantly made up of the same ethnicities, who share a similar culture, while Territorial states are political centers with other portions of society living outside a main administrative area (Scarre Fagan, 2003). Territorial states are normally made up of varying ethnicities, languages and incorporate larger expanses of land (Scarre Fagan, 2003). An Empire is a city state or state that conquers neighboring states to create a larger territory (Smiley, 2015: Unit 9). In addition, and empire has a governing body that implements a tax to help support the population and governing powers and has a standing military that helps conquer, helps enforce the rule of the state on the new territory, and minimize uprisings. In this essay I will describe three key empires: the Romans, the Aztecs, and the Incas.
