Male And Female Communication
Men Are from Mars and Women Are from Venus , is a true statement.
Male and Female communication styles are totally different. Men and women appear to be from two
different planets. How does communication and culture affect how you communication? I agree, that
cultural communication is taught different based on gender? Yes, Females are taught at a very young
age to be great listeners and pay close attention to detail. Males on the other hand or taught to leave all
the detail stuff to the women. Both way men and women separately are two totally different genders.
Male and Female genders have their own background and cultural habits. The difference in genders
has created different communion styles. This makes relationships very challenging ... Show more

Women do use metamessages when communication with men. Our cultures do affect are future
communication in our long term relationships. Women, I must concur assume that if they are in a long
term relationships the man should know all about them. The man should know what they like and do
not like. Women in long term relationships know all about the man. They know their favorite food,
favorite color and their like and dislikes. Men, from my experiences do not like a lot of
communication talking in other words. Women on the other hand enjoys communication and I agree
that Deborah Tannen statement, Being understood without saying what you mean gives a payoff in
involvement, and that is why women value it so highly . This is exactly what women really want in
relationships with men. Women value men who can know exactly what they are thinking without
saying a word. Metamessages as described in this reading excerpt as an indirect way of
communicating. Metamessages are what women use as a form of communication to resolve conflict or
to solve every day dilemmas in relationships with men. One

Customer Friendly Interface Between Guest And The Hotel
The front office maintains a record of all guests staying in the house. This department also co
ordinates all group movements meal plans.
Thus we see that the primary objective of the front office is to receive the guest, give them a warm
welcome, assign them rooms keeping in mind their taste and preferences and be a customer friendly
interface between the hotel and the guest.
This extremely important department is one of the first points of contact the guest has with the hotel,
and leaves a lasting impression on the mind of the guest about the quality and service provided. It is
therefore, crucial for all Front Office personnel to be constantly aware of this fact and realize that, in
addition to their routine functions, they are also salesmen for their hotel and the other hotels in the
group.
INTERACTION BETWEEN GUEST AND THE HOTEL:
During the hotel stay, a guest may require certain services from and engage in various transactions
with the hotel. One or the other section of the hotel front office mostly handles these. Following is the
example of interaction of the guest and the hotel at different stages of his stay:
Pre arrival
1. Reservation Office: For reservation of room and assigning pick up for self.
Arrival
1 Reception: For Registration, Room assignment and issuing of keys.
2 Bell Desk: for Baggage handling and escorting to guest room.
Occupancy

An Analysis of Marks and Spencer
An Analysis of Marks and Spencer
INTRODUCTION TO THE FIRM AND ITS INDUSTRY
Marks and Spencer is one of the largest retailers in the United Kingdom, and is also known as a major
retailer selling diverse product ranges under their own exclusive brand in more than thirty countries.
Customer confidence in the Marks and Spencer brand remains second to none. According to recent
research undertaken by the Company, it shows that, in clothing, Mark and Spencer has a clear lead
over all its major competitors in the key areas of fit, quality, trust, breadth of range and customer
service.
In November of 2000, Marks and Spencer will launch a trial of three new lingerie only outlets in
Paris, Hamburg and Dusseldorf. According to industry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most unusual part of this downswing of Marks Spencer is that the company has added 50,000 new
investors to its share register over the past year. Normally a company as crisis torn as this one cannot
attract such a voluminous new following of investors, and rarely can the new fan club have been so
disappointed by what it found. The shares have been in more or less continual decline throughout this
period. Many analysts are wondering why? (Anonymous 21).
One explanation is that Marks Spencer has appeared on numerous share tip lists as an obvious
recovery stock. Many important newspapers included the company in its New Year share tips, and the
brokers have been unrelenting in rating the stock a buy. But investors don t have to read the
newspapers to think in the same way as them. Marks Spencer is still a very good brand which in the
past has achieved outstanding retail success. The logic behind buying the shares, then, is the belief that
they must at some time bounce back (Anonymous 21).
This is a bad enough strategy to apply to stock market investment generally, but it is a particularly bad
when applied to a specific stock such as in this case. The world is a fast changing place and just
because a company was once at the top of its competition doesn t mean it will ever be that way again.
Marks Spencer shares have repeatedly over the last year attempted to stage a recovery,

Analysis Of Consider The Lobster
Consideration: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others
How do you consider the lobster? David Foster Wallace wrote the essay Consider the Lobster. After
the reading, the essay for the first time the thoughts that went through my head consisted of how the
lobsters were treated and what Wallace thought of the lobsters. The lobsters are chosen out of usually
a pot or a giant tank and then boiled to death. They are placed into a pot of boiling hot water and the
saying that the lobsters are screaming in the pot comes to be true. Some people find it disturbing to
listen to the sound while others cover the pot and not let it bother them. Also, from the first reading I
thought that Wallace was being somewhat hypocritical because I got the idea that it was acceptable for
him to eat and coo ketch lobsters but seeing it done in the setting of a restaurant, in a larger quantity
makes it worse. Gathering all this information again had made me rethink the essay and look towards
the deeper meaning. Wallace committed suicide in 2008 due to mental illness. So, when we consider
the lobster does it mean that to be considerate of it? Another point I came to was about was mental
illness and how in 2008 Wallace committed suicide. When lobsters are chosen and boiled to eat, those
people are sending them to their grave . So, what does being considerate consist of when discussing a
lobster, a dead body and the food we are about to eat?

Tom Delonge s Departure From Blink-182 Analysis
The Positive Effect of Tom Delonge s Departure from Blink 182 Contrary to popular belief; Tom
Delonge s separation from Blink 182 held a productive result in regards to their music. From
alternative to aliens, Delonge has slowly dragged down the band he spent years to create. Whether it
be because of mental health issues, or simply growing up, Blink 182 has changed. By taking a gander
at the shift in attitude from the band s early years to their most recent year, it is evident that Delonge s
departure is something that has only been good to the group. And, that throughout all the drama and

January 27th, 2015, less than a day since they had announced any rumors regarding Delonge leaving

Delonge stressed,
Being on tour was such a grind. I didn t love it enough, it was too much disruption for me. And
playing the same songs every night and moving your body the same way with your guitar, it felt like
you were vogue ing, like you were faking it. (Varga 15).
Hoppus later mentioned that he was not at all surprised by the email received for his resignation, and
that his attitude leading up to the split had proven he was not interested in the band anymore. He
mentions, Travis and I have bent over backwards for years to accommodate all the stuff that Tom
wanted to try... ( Mark Hoppus: Tom Delonge s Departure is a Relief , 2015). However, Hoppus and
Barker had announced shortly after that they had already found a replacement for Delonge for their
upcoming show in a California festival. Matt Skiba was made the new replacement for Delonge, and
with that they set off on tour for their newest work, California, a nostalgic album which earned the

created for the film. D.W Griffith uses the music to represent the theme and the aspect of the story and
to alter the themes. Griffith also uses new music to reflect changes that are taking place in the story.

How Did Ray Charles Go Deaf
Hit the Road Jack , a classic song from the most beloved singer in history, Ray Charles. Along with
being a singer, songwriter and musician, Ray Charles was very famous. Ray had always wanted to be
a singer. That had been his dream that affected the course of his life. He went to Florida s school for
deaf and blind. Well, Ray Charles was not deaf, but he got very ill from a disease called Glaucoma ,
which made him to start going blind. That is why his mom took him to that school.
Ray Charles lived in Albany, Georgia in the United States, and he was born on September 23, 1930.
He lived a very good life, and his dad worked as a mechanic and handyman ,and his mom worked at a
sawmill. He had lived a good life until the age of 5 when he started to go blind. After 2 years of going
blind, Ray went completely blind. After that moment of life his family was just in shock even though
they knew it was going to happen. Ray appreciated how his mother got him prepared for this big

because he could not see anything and writing and trying to sing music could have been real tough for
him. He even had to get an eye removed. After he left the blind school, he persevered. He started
listening to music, and that was when he said I wanted to be a singer. Music was his passion. After he
graduated with the school he had started traveling with western bands hearing how they sing and what
they do. Then he started touring with blue band and working as an musician. He played the clarinet,

A Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration
Held Captive, but not in Spirit Puritans take their relationship with God seriously, see him as good,
and rely on the Bible for guidance by reading it diligently. They look for ways that the Bible
resembles their own real life situations and try to carry on similar as they did. This is called typology
and is reoccurring theme in the narrative, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration, written by
Mary Rowlandson. Rowlandson was taken captive by Indians in 1675, she documented those eleven
weeks in this narrative (Rowlandson ,256). It is a tragic tale that starts with seeing her family and
friends drowning in their own blood, all the while seeing her old life go up in smoke. Mary is a fine
example of puritan faith who never gave up hope. In Mary Rowlandson s narrative she demonstrates
her puritan faith through typology and relying fully on God s providence to revive her spirit daily.
Mary having only the cloths on her back, a sick baby, and a moldy cake in her pocket could only rely
on God s providence to keep her and give her favor. She was wounded when taken captive, but God
sent her someone to help her and give her medicine to apply to her wound. Then I took oaken leaves
and laid to my side, and with the blessing of God it healed me also, (Rowlandson, 261). We may not
consider these to be big blessings, but to Mary being in such a desolate state that they became her
bread and butter. After the death of her baby and being of low spirits, Mary asked God for a

Characterizing The Structure Of Composite Material
Characterizing the structure of composite material in a fishing rod
Muad Saleh
Abstract
This report introduces the dependence of the mechanical properties of a fishing rod made from glass
reinforced epoxy on the orientation, morphology, and volume fraction of the fibers used in making the
rod. This has been achieved by studying the surface of multiple cross sections of the fishing rod that
are mounted on epoxy by using optical microscopes. Then through analyzing different cross section,
the mechanical properties of the studied fishing rod have been linked to orientation, size, shape, and
volume fraction of the fibers.
Introduction Composites, which are one of the primary branches of materials in addition to metals,
polymers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fiber phase is usually made from materials that are usually stronger and have a higher modulus of
elasticity than that of the matrix, but they are often very brittle [2]. Therefore, the matrix phase is
usually the source of the composites ductility, whereas the fiber is the source of its strength.
Furthermore, composited have a wider range of properties than the other types of material; thus, they
are used in more application. For instance, the material used in fishing poles should have a high tensile
and compressive strengths, and a high modulus of elasticity, as that they are subject to high stresses,
which they need to withstand without failing or going through much plastic deformation. Moreover,
fishing poles have to be ductile and flexible, as that they should have the ability to bend. Such
properties cannot often be achieved by using a single type of material; however, those properties can
be found in different composites. According to Philips [3], fishing rods are commonly made of fibers
glass or carbon embedded in a matrix of epoxy or lignin.
Because of the unlimited number of matrix/ fiber combinations that can be used to form composites,
and the great number of variables that can be controlled in composite materials, composites can attain
a wide range of mechanical properties. For instance, the mechanical properties depend on the
properties of both the matrix and the fiber phases; as that, the

African American Perspective in Early 20th Century America
Throughout the era after the Civil War, Blacks struggled to show themselves and create an identity
outside of the confines of slavery. There were many different ideas that display how Black should be
perceived and how Blacks should carry themselves in order to uplift the race. Uplifting the race was
one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just three of
the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Many authors commented on these
issues and the other issues of the time. Nella Larsen, Booker T. Washington, and Charles Chestnutt are
three authors that share their views with their readers. Miscegenation occurs when different racial
groups mix through marriage, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We make our customs lightly; once made, like our sins, they grip us in bands of steel, we become
creatures of our creations. By one standard the office boy should have never been born. Yet he is a son
of Adam and came into existence in the way ordained by God from the beginning of the world
(Chestnutt, 24). Chestnutt shows the judge in the same struggle that he leaves his reader feelings. The
customs of society say one thing; yet, true seems to be saying another. Chestnutt leaves his readers
with this dichotomy in his book. Chestnutt balances between Larsen and Washington s views. He
makes his reader think though the reasons why or why not miscegenation should or should not be
allowed. Sexuality was also an issue for Blacks in this time period. Most black women were classified
as either a respectable, almost asexual, lady or a whore. They were classified as a mammy or a jezebel.
There was a dichotomy between what women were allowed to be. Sexual desire needed to be separate
from respectability. And respectability was highly prized. Larsen s character Helga struggles greatly
with this dichotomy between sexual desire and respectability. She has been taught to be a respectable
woman in order to uplift the race and that black women should be perceived in a certain way. Larsen
writes of Helga and Dr. Anderson s conversation about Helga s upbringing. Dr. Anderson says,

An Analysis of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers
Seawater intrusion is defined as the movement of seawater into freshwater aquifers which are
generally made of ground water near the coast. An interface or dispersion zone is the area where fresh
water and seawater meet. Analytical models and numerical models as well as Mathematical methods
are used to find or to investigate solutions to this, as the seawater contaminates the fresh drinking
water. The aim of this essay is to give an account of two modelling approaches that describe what
happens at the interface by discussing the models. As well as to discuss how tides may have an impact
on seawater intrusion. Ataie Ashtiani, Volker and Lockington(1999:17) suggested that there is a direct
relationship between the area of the dispersion, the scale, the shape, the degree of the dispersion area,
and parameters such as hydraulic conductivity, the comparative densities of the salt and fresh water as
well as the rate of discharge of the ground water. There is limited accuracy to the usage of the models
as the models are limited by assuming various situations. Altaie Ashtiani et al (1999:18) gestates the
rare occurrence of salt water intrusion in ground water in two ways: the sharp interface approach and
the disperse interface approach. The sharp interface approach is the approach in which it should be
assumed that the salt water and fresh water are immiscible fluids which are separated by a sharp
interface. This approach includes the diffusion and the effects of the hydrodynamic

Examples Of Integrity In The Great Gatsby
Nowadays, the word integrity is continually utilized to clarify the character in the literature. Integrity
by the definition in the Cambridge dictionary is: the quality of being honest . As the dictionary
indicates, usually, a lot of people utilize integrity as a synonym for the honesty, but in my opinion, the
word integrity implies much more than fair being honest. American media proprietor Oprah Winfrey
said: Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody s going to know whether you did it
or not. Hence, having integrity means doing the right thing in a reliable way by following own moral
or ethical convictions in all circumstances, indeed in the event that no one is watching. As taking after

Growing Up Of A Predominantly Poor Community And A Third...
Afika James
Final paper
Sped 704
Growing up in a predominantly poor community in a third world country like St. Vincent and the
Grenadines, my parents expressed the importance of acquiring an education as the only way out of
poverty. My mom worked hard so that she had enough money saved for us all to migrate to the United
States of America. In that instance I am sure that my story is similar to that of many other immigrants.
The myth that poor people are unmotivated and have low work ethics is sometimes still prevalent.
Poor people do not have a poorer work ethic or lower levels of motivation. Low income households
are just as concerned about children s learning as any other household. However, lack of resources and
less time to focus on homework due to multiple jobs cause parents to have less involvement in
schoolwork. After moving to the United States, having an accent that sometimes made me difficult to
understand caused to seclude myself and not participate in classrooms. Children laughed and pointed
me out. I was not an English Language Learner but my dialect made me aware of just a little part of
the world of English Language Learners in the classroom.
English language learners and ELLSEs may be similar but they are also quite different. Both are
considered to be emergent bilinguals. The students who are ELL s will most likely have trouble with
instruction in a new language, but if taught in their home language they will better be able to pass

Suicide Prevention For The Kern County Mental Health Hotline
My family and friends don t quite understand my motivations to become a mental health counselor.
Personally, I can think of nothing more rewarding than helping people through dark times and giving
hope for a brighter future. Deep down, I m an idealist with enough life experience to pepper my
expectations. There are countless possible research topics within the mental health field, but I ve
recently developed a deep appreciation of suicide prevention since volunteering for the Kern County
Mental Health Hotline. I ve also become acutely aware of the relationship between suicide and mood
disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder. According to the CDC, suicide is the second
leading cause of death for people aged 15 34 years old, and the 10th leading cause of death overall. An
estimated 90% of those who have died by suicide suffered from mental illness. That makes mental
illness the top risk factor (NAMI, 2016). I was able to find these statistics quite readily, but I couldn t
find anything relating specifically to mood disorders. Since I am not sure of what type of research
already exists on the subject matter, a literature review would be the perfect place to start. Not only
would a review help verify that this is direction of research has potential, it would help to develop my
understanding of the topic. If I do find that work has been done on the topic, I could narrow my scope
to focus on points not previously covered. If I review the preexisting work and

The Eight Stages Of Sleep Cycles
Sleep consists of many different 90 minute cycles. These cycles are: alpha waves, NREM 1, NREM 2,
NREM 3, and REM sleep. The first stage of sleep is known as the alpha waves. Alpha waves are
relatively slow brain waves of a relaxed, awake state (Myers, 2017, p. 55). During the alpha waves
stage the person is not yet asleep, but is laying calmly with his or her eyes closed. Eventually the
person falls asleep, without being consciously aware of it, and moves into stage two of sleep. Stage
two, or NREM 1 sleep, is the time where people often have hallucinations or feel as if they are falling,
when in reality nothing is there and they are laying flat on the bed. This stage usually lasts about ten
minutes. During this stage the muscles are still active and the eyes may still open and close
occasionally. The breathing and heart rate of a person also slows when in NREM 1 sleep. Often, if a
person is awakened during this stage they may think that they have not fallen asleep at all. NREM 1
sleep accounts for about 10% of the total night of sleep. Stage three, or NREM 2 sleep, is the first
stage where muscle activity is decreased much more and the sleeping person becomes completely
unaware of their surroundings. During the night this stage occurs multiple times, more than ... Show

A Government s Change Of Political Structure
A government s change of political structure needs a careful and cautious review of the various factors
that would evidently adjust for the benefit and advantage of a nation s progress and existence. The
Soviet Republic of Livonia has decided to change its government into a democratic one with two
options that would guide them. And although the goal and objectives are purposeful and legitimate,
the transition would be the most crucial stage of this change because everything may either fall into
place or fall out in synchronism. Democracy is a good choice for the new independent nation
considering that there is a new means of allowing their people to actively cooperate with the
government. The right of suffrage will allow the citizens to elect their chosen representatives
especially for the higher and important positions. Through the constitution, people s rights and
responsibilities will be codified enduring limits to their new government. Frye (309) claimed that even
citizens could participate through political parties that would help the proper dispersion of financial
budgets. However, there is a great threat that economic reform might only be beneficial to narrow
business groups and wealthy personalities that would create a privatization of some economic
regulations. These types of people may drain the country s resources for their benefits. Frye (309)
suggests that such political competition and diverse political coalitions might even prevent the
productive transition

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Spectrum Sensing
Abstract The constrained available spectrum and the incompetence in the spectrum utilization and
administration require another correspondence innovation and communication technology.. Spectrum
sensing is used to detect the (unlicensed) the unused (licensed) frequency bands. Spectrum sensing
includes locating the usage of spectrum and their features across different dimensions such as code
frequency ,time and space. The key features of CR system is that it senses the electromagnetic
environment to use their operation and dynamically vary its radio operating parameters. With the
likely transition of radio communications from static to dynamic spectrum access in the near future,
spectrum sensing has become an interesting area of research. Even though many signal detection
methods have a long history, economical implementations of consumer devices employing spectrum

The Importance Of Gun Control
Many people overestimate the term gun control , assuming that this horrific word means that the
government is going to take control of their firearms, and that people will not have the right to defend
themselves. That is however, incorrect. According to US Legal Definitions (para. 1), the definition of
gun control is Gun control laws aim to restrict or regulate the sale, purchase, or possession of firearms
through licensing, registration, or identification requirements. In this definition, it does not say that
guns will be confiscated or banned by the government. The process of gun control allows the
government to regulate the sale of firearms to people who may have a criminal record, are on the no

An issue facing congress is how to classify a firearm as an assault weapon , since banning all semi
automatic weapons would ban most guns in general. In crafting the 1994 ban, lawmakers mainly
focused on 18 specific firearms, as well as certain military type features on guns. Certain models of
AR 15s and AK 47s were banned. Any semiautomatic rifle with a pistol grip and a bayonet mount was
an assault weapon (Plumer, 2012). During the ban, it was illegal to manufacture and sell the weapons
listed above to be used by private citizens. They also regulated magazines, and they could now carry
no more than 10 bullets. While this ban may have had loopholes and flaws, the statistics show that it
had an effect on mass shootings. Putting something in place similar to this but perhaps more precise
and well thought out would help with the overwhelming number of mass shootings. Not only does
there need to be more background checks, but mental health screenings. While the US may already
have these in place, they are fairly short and most are simply composed of a background check instead
of a thorough mental health screening. According to Maura Ewing, In all but 19 states, private sales do
not necessitate a background check, and therefore do not involve a mental health screening (Ewing,
2017). That means that in 19 out of 50 states, a citizen can legally purchase a firearm via a private sale
without being screened. Licensed gun dealers however, are required to follow the

Hoodoo versus Voodoo: Alike in Name but Not in Practice
The Basic Aspects of Hoodoo As everyday people become more mindful of alternative forms of
medicine to employ in place of rigid western medicine, longstanding methods of healing from around
the world have experienced a revival, especially the West African practice of Hoodoo. Hoodoo,
otherwise known as rootwork or conjuring, is a manner of folk magic and spiritual practice that
focuses upon the innate powers of the earth and its dwelling life forces (Rave, n.d.). Brought by slaves
transported to the United States as part of the Transatlantic Slave Trade the ways of Hoodoo spread
throughout the Mississippi Delta, and utilizes a wide variety of methods to produce a positive impact

Social And Cultural Groups Become A Key Tool For Harmony...
Introduction
Since the 1990s the steady rise of the Internet has facilitated many avenues for change in our
contemporary world. Not least contributing to an ease in travel and communication which could well
give the impression of a globalscape constructed . with very few boundaries. A glance at any Western
World news source will undoubtedly report on the problem of immigration, as though Europe is under
siege by scores of deterritorialized people and transmigrants who have exploited the fluid boundaries
of postmodern hyperspace. It is in this area of social conflict that the discipline of anthropology best

Borders of life and lands Gregory
Boca Chica is municipality of the Dominican Republic, located upon the island of Hispaniola in the
Gulf of Chiriquí. The history of conflict between the Dominican side of the island (influenced by
Spanish colonial rule) and the Western Haitian side is long standing, dating back to the 1880 s. Upon
the modern day landscape there is an imaginary line which divides Hispaniola into a land of two
countries. One side of which is Haiti and the other the Dominican Republic. It is on the Dominican
side where Gregory focuses his ethnography.
Through anecdotal interviews bureaucratic and social borders are described, which not only exclude
and disempower the Haitian residents of the country, but which also also alienate citizens of
Dominican descent due to their financial state. Dominican parents are required to register the birth of a
child at office of Civil Registry so as to be issued with a birth certificate. When the child reaches the
age of eighteen, this certificate can than be exchanged for an adult cédula , which is required for
voting, securing formal employment and obtaining licenses and other documents. However, many
parents, especially those in rural areas, may delay or neglect registering their children s birth, through
oversight, ignorance, or lack of resources to travel or to pay the required taxes (Gregory 2007:36). As
such it is estimated

Stereotypes In The Real World
Stereotypes are all around us. Wherever one goes there will be stereotypes for people, groups, or even
animals. For example, pit bulls are known to be vicious dogs, even though there are many pit bulls
that are nice and friendly. These stereotypes can cloud good people s judgement of others just solely
based on appearance. This prejudgment of a person can hurt them various ways in the real world such
as applying for a job. A man that wants to be a nurse can hurt his manliness because nurses are thought
to be a job for women only. The gender stereotypes in this world are not making anything better, just
worse. In order to get one step closer to gender equality we as a society need to eliminate stereotypes
as a whole. Now, some may say that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fear In Literature Of H. G. Wells And Ray Bradbury
Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the response is
to protect themselves. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to
quell. Yet exposing ourselves to our personal demons is the best way to move past them (Sussex
People, 1). Some people will approach the thrill lifestyle willingly, while others will stay away from it
at all costs. When interpreting literature, it is important to understand what was the cause of the
writing. In most science fiction pieces, the answer is fear.
This same truth is evident in the literary works of two authors who shared similar ideas due to
catastrophes going on in the world around them. H.G. Wells grew up during an industrial advancement
in Europe. This advancement impacted the wars that were going on greatly. Killing was made more
efficient and less personal. This affected the morals of the European society.
H.G. Wells noticed the issue, and addressed them in his writing. Ray Bradbury also grew up in a time
of war. The development of nuclear biological warfare greatly impacted his career. His fear of the end
of the world by technology was the supreme basis of all of his works. By applying a historical lense,
readers can observe that H.G Wells and Ray Bradbury are afraid of modernising technology due to
their fear of bad ethics.
The idea of being invisible has always been in the imaginations of children and regarded as a cool
science. H.G. Wells confronts

1 Introduction
Uranium should be produced in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible way because this is
important for consumers, producers and society as a whole. The production of uranium through
hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent
extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry.
Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a
number one priority.
2 Safety issues
The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not
properly managed. Radon is a colourless, tasteless gas and exposure to high levels can increase the
chances of getting cancer. As a result, every country that has nuclear facilities, has regulations to
ensure public land, air and water (both surface and groundwater) are protected now and in the future
(Vance, 2014).
The erosion of tailings and waste rock facilities has led to contaminants (either solid or in
ground/surface water) entering

Amazon s Big Play For Grocery Business Essay
Summary: In the Bloomberg News article Inside Amazon s Big Play for Grocery Business , their
concentrated focus was surrounding Amazon s pilot program AmazonFresh . The experiment is a
project where Amazon deliver fresh food. Knowing delivering fresh food service is a difficult form in
the grocery business, Amazon found the potential of the growing business in the millennial age.
AmazonFresh began in the Seattle area which offered doorstep delivery, saving consumers time from
grocery shopping. So far the expansion of the development reached 16 U.S. markets and London.
Strength: The idea of the project is refreshing and target the right individual. A strength of the business
is their consumers are immediately fascinated by the new business. Today s generation are constantly
updating in technology to where it becomes part of their daily life. Individuals assumed shoppers will
not accept the idea of buying fresh food online without seeing and touching the item before
purchasing. They also said this about online purchasing of furniture and cars, but consumers continue

Good Things that Came out fo the Great Depression
From 1929 to the early 1940s, America was hit hard by the Great Depression. The economy
plummeted to rock bottom. It affected millions of lives throughout the country, even the rich. It caused
families to use shabby clothes again and again, instead of buying new apparel and wasting money.
People cut back on spending and where they spent it. Then, WWII affected the economy by putting it
back on track. Along with it, was the Manhattan Project, which greatly affected the U.S. The
Manhattan Project (America s nuclear bomb,) was used in Hiroshima, Japan, during WWII. The US
was greatly feared by Japan and other countries then. The Manhattan Project also created the
Hydrogen bomb, which was never used but alarmed the American and Soviet Union public. These
were not the only events that greatly affected America. Throughout the years 1945 to 1980, many
events affected US society, such as John F. Kennedy s Inauguration Address in 1961, Elvis Presley,
and color television. John F. Kennedy was born on the 29th of May, in the year 1917. He was also
known as Jack . As a young child, he often got sick. He did not pressure himself to do school related
work, unless it appealed to him. Even in college, he only did work unless it appealed to him. Finally,
in his last year in college, he got himself together and started taking school seriously. After graduating
from college, he went into the army. His brother, Joseph Kennedy went into the navy. While he was in

Stereotypes Of Tv Research Paper
Television heavily relies upon stereotypes to provide a somewhat distorted and glamorized picture of a
variety of occupations, with emphasis on those in the healthcare and legal fields; as a result, the real
responsibilities of individuals in these occupations can be seriously misconstrued by television
viewers and leave them with unrealistic expectations of what certain occupations actually entail.
Although many television viewers are drawn to the legal field as a result of television s depictions of
well dressed, glamorous lawyers who consistently dine out at fancy restaurants and win all of their
cases in a record amount of time, as seen in shows like Suits, the real legal world consists of much
more paperwork and routine tasks than is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the popular series House M.D., Gregory House becomes addicted to opiates and
remains employed, with a large variety of duties in the hospital where he works, despite his
increasingly erratic behavior towards his patients. In reality, such behavior would not be tolerated as
lightly as it is on screen. Another example of inaccuracy in terms of how certain behavior would be
tolerated in a residency program is in season 1 of Grey s Anatomy when Izzie intentionally worsens
her patient and love interest Denny s condition in the hopes of getting him moved up on the heart
transplant list. She is allowed to stay in the program despite breaching more than one very serious
medical rule; in reality, though, it is likely that such behavior would have much harsher consequences,
but for the purposes of the show, these same rules do not seem to apply. Another aspect of the medical
profession that appears to be largely dramatized is that of specialization. Doctors on television seem to
specialize to all fields, whereas real life doctors take many years of gaining experience in order to
specialize in one area. An example of such a disparity between television and reality can be seen in
House M.D., when House single handedly performs multiple operations on the same patient, including
a brain biopsy and a gastroscopy. My aunt, who is a breast surgeon, spent many years completing her
residency before finally deciding to specialize in the treatment of breast cancer and other breast related
issues. When I was young and still considering becoming a doctor, she would constantly remind me, It
s nothing like Grey s Anatomy! Grey s Anatomy is another example of a television show that seems to
distort things in the medical profession. For example, many of the characters on the show, including
Meredith Grey and Dr. Derek Shepherd, also referred to as

exploiting our emotions and attacking the very things that advertisers know will get out attention such

the advertising companies excel because they know that no one is going to see a commercial for a car

Excitatory Essay
The excitatory (glutamatergic) inputs to the hippocampal formation originate from the neurons in the
different layers of the entorhinal cortexcite {1}cite{2}cite{3}cite{4}cite{5}. The axons, projecting
from the superficial second layer of entorhinal cortex to dentate gyrus and CA3, constitute for the
perforant pathway and are strictly unidirectional and excitatory cite{2}. Whilst layer II neurons of
entorhinal cortex innervate the neurons found in dentate gyrus and the CA3 neurons, neurons from
layer III of entorhinal cortex send their axons to subiculum and CA1. The granule cells, synonymously
called principal cells, are located in the granule cell layer of dentate gyrus. Here, the granule cells send

Axons projecting from the infrapyramidal blade enter the CA3 in the infrapyramidal bundle before
perforating the pyramidal cells to aborize the stratum lucidum. Mossy fiber axons projecting from the
suprapyramidal blade aborize stratum lucidum first after they enter the suprapyramidal bundle. This is
another example of the high organizaton of the neuronal trajectory in hippocampal
formationcite{2}cite{6}. There are two main pathways originating from the CA3 neurons, the first is
the direct projection of these neurons towards the fimbria and the second is the subsequent collateral
pathway created by the backward propagation of the diverged CA3 axonscite{1}. These axons,
known as Schaffer collaterals, are the main excitatory input to the pyramidal cells located in the first
region of hippocampus proper, an innervation mediated through the distal dendritic spines of the CA1
neurons in an en passant fashioncite{7}, where the synaptic transmission occurs along the axonal
bodycite{8}cite{7}. The CA1 neurons, in turn, innervate other hippocampal areas by sending their
axons toward the fimbria, subiculum and contralateral hippocampus via the associational commisural
pathway and forms the main output of the hippocampal

Up until now the NCAA was able to get away with keeping college athletes under the category of
amateur meaning that they would not share in the portion of the profits, as that would compromise
their amateur status. Recently, the NCAA was challenged with and lost a lawsuit (O Bannon vs. the
NCAA) filed by former UCLA basketball star Ed O Bannon. The court ruled, Requires that the NCAA
s caps on compensation must at least reflect the full cost of school attendance (rather than merely
tuition and supplies). The court also held that $5,000 trust funds would be acceptable, so long as the
revenue was distributed equally to all players on a team, but rejected direct endorsements as
inconsistent with the valid objectives of the NCAA. (Lemieux, 2014) This ruling will have a big
impact on the business model and structure of the NCAA going forward. According to experts, The
impact of the ruling will not be radical in the short term as scholarships will become more valuable
and players will receive some indirect benefits from licensing of their names and images. In the long

Deism In The 17th Century
Deism is a belief based solely on reason and nature, acknowledging the existence of a god, but
denying any involvement in the human world beyond creation. Deism rejects the ideas of faith based
and revealed religions (those who claim to have received a special revelation from God) such as
Christianity, Islam and Judaism. It also rejects any religious knowledge found in sacred texts such as
the Bible and the Quran ( Deism 94). Instead of having faith and believing that God is in control,
Deists only believe in reason and use that as their guide to truth ( Deism 94). Deism is considered a

reason and science. It was not until Lord Edward Herbert of Cherbury published his writings about the
five innate religious ideas ( Edward Herbert, 1st Baron Herbert ). Herbert inspired other philosophers,
such as Voltaire, Jean Jacques Rousseau, and Immanuel Kant of Germany, who picked up and

Honey Spot Play Analysis
The media text Brisbane Tent Embassy battle goes on as Elder stands up for his sovereign rights by
the National Indigenous Times News and the play Honey Spot by Jack Davis both incorporate themes
of racism towards Indigenous Australians. The play deals with fictional events concerning tension
between Anglo Europeans and Indigenous Australians which are based on existing events, such as the
event described in the media text. This was about an Indigenous man who was arrested for legally
participating in his cultural practices, a theme which was touched on in the play also. The two written
texts both explore similar themes involving Indigenous rights and discrimination against Indigenous
Australians. Such similar themes are the traditional land use practices which the Indigenous
Australians aren t allowed to partake in, the conscious and subconscious racism displayed by the
Anglo Europeans, and how racial differences create issues in society.

Individuals who experience trauma or loss had an impact on their artistic thinking, for example, Frida
Kahlo. John Lennon. Paul McCartney. Truman Capote. Robin Williams. Jerry Garcia, some of the
most revered creative minds in modern history have experienced major trauma. Psychologists call this
phenomenon post traumatic growth. When an individual experiences a major loss, the brain explores
its own creative escape as part of rebuilding themselves, especially as our perspectives, priorities, and
ways of thinking shift around. Post traumatic growth has been explored in hundreds of scientific
studies, including a 2004 study in the Journal of Traumatic Stress showing that 70% of survivors

Essay On Blindness In Oedipus
Oedipus inner blindness led him to his downfall by his bad temper, being naive and his pride. Having
a serious temper causes a lot of problems and conflicts with others. A temper can a negative effect on

negatives outcomes from having a temper tantrum. Being angry without control can cause you to harm
others. Oedipus should ve tried to control his anger.
This was a big essential to his character downfall causing this to be a tragic flaw. Because of having a

The Origin Of The Jews After The Babylonian Exile
The word Diaspora derives from the Greek Diasperien i.e. dia (through) and sperien (to scatter).
According to Webster s dictionary, Diaspora refers to dispersion so we can say that the word
represents a centre called home from where the dispersion occurs. In addition to it the dictionary it
also associates the meaning with the dispersion of the Jews after the Babylonian exile. Thus we get
two meanings of the word Diaspora as a spread of population and a forcible dispersal. However the
term Diaspora doesn t mean any nomadic existence, though it suggests a movement from one place to
another, but it s not a nomadic existence because it is somewhere a journey, however that does not
mean all journey can be understood as that of a Diaspora. As in Diaspora does not mean causal travel,
even though diasporic journeys are mainly about settling down and about having roots elsewhere.
Thus, the concept of Diaspora has different meanings to different people according to their different
circumstances. For instance, when the Jews were exiled from the Babylon, they were uprooted from
their own homes and they had to rebuild their community and culture all over again, for them the
diaspora had different meaning since it was forced. But today the meaning of Diaspora could be
limited to any community of a particular nation outside its own country, sharing some common bonds

Effective Method for Earning Extreme Profits Online
In this eBook we will be examining the single most effective method which I ve ever come across for
earning extreme profits online. Why sell it? Cookbooks have been around since the internet has been
around, but that has no effect on my sales! What s great is you can do free promotional offers to earn
with cookbooks on amazon or you can sell them at rates of $0.99 to $4.99. Enough chitchat, let s jump
in and get you earning a new payroll!
Market Research
First you will want to go to Amazon.com
After choosing the type of book that had a great niche (cookbooks) I selected the type, for my first
book I did simple and quick lunch recipes and 5 minute desserts. You want to select a specific niche in
cookbooks, for example Christmas recipes, chili recipes, turkey recipes, 100 recipes with strawberry
jelly, etc. however, you don t want a book that has a ton of random recipes which have no correlation.
Ever choosing the type just find online recipes and rewrite them and change the name, please note this
is completely legal. See the copyright laws below
US copyright laws for recipes (Source):
Copyright law does not protect recipes that are mere listings of ingredients. Nor does it protect other
mere listings of ingredients such as those found in formulas, compounds, or prescriptions. Copyright
protection may, however, extend to substantial literary expression a description, explanation, or
illustration, for example that accompanies a recipe or formula or to a

Human Experimentation In Nazi Germany
People may think all human experimentation is ethical and happens under supervised, and controlled
conditions with the consent of the person. This wasn t the case in Nazi Germany. The Nazi s
performed some of the most inhumane, disturbing human experiments documented by man. The Nazi
s saw their extermination camps as a prime place for scientific experiments to advance their military
and Nazi racial ideology. Prisoners were forced to participate in the experiments and usually died as
an effect. If the subject lived, the results often resulted in trauma, disfigurement, or permanent
disability. This happened on a large scale, and affected the lives of many. These experiments were
typically aimed toward Jews, but some Romani, Sinti, Soviet prisoners of war, and disabled Germans
were involved in these ruthless experiments. It is important to remember these diabolical acts not
because of how awful they were, but the technological and medical advancements they posed. If we
don t acknowledge the suffering these people endured, then I feel that they have died in vain. One of
the experiments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1941, the Luftwaffe conducted experiments on more than 350 people. These experiments were
conducted to simulate the conditions the armies encountered on the Eastern Front in order to prepare
their army for the cold weather. They placed prisoners naked in the open air for several hours with
temperatures as low as 21 fahrenheit. Some subjects were dipped into vats of freezing water. Those
who didn t die from freezing, were resuscitated using gruesome methods. The worst probably being
internal irrigation, whereby victims had boiling water forced into the bladder and stomach ( Worst
Nazi Experiments ). Many experiments were conducted on captured Russian troops; the Nazi s
wondered wheateher their genetics gave them superior resistance to cold ( Nazi Human

A Midsummer Night s Dream Fifth Period
It was a casual Wednesday morning when I walked into Maple Place Middle School. That is, until I
reached 5th period. 5th period was my favorite period of the day because I had English, which is my
favorite subject. I had it with my favorite teacher as well, Mrs.Secko. I had English two periods a day,
5th and 7th. 5th was Literature, and 7th was Language Arts. This week, we were going to be
reviewing Shakespeare s play, A Midsummer Night s Dream . We would be collaborating with the
other 7th grade English teacher, Mrs. Richter. Some of us would be staying in Mrs.Secko s class while
some of us would be transferred into Mrs. Richter s for this specific lesson. I was one of the students
who was chosen to be transferred into Mrs.Richter s for that week. So, from this Wednesday to next
Wednesday I would be going to Mrs.Richter s for 5th period.
Once I was picked to go into Mrs.Richter s class, I reluctantly got out of ... Show more content on

I sat down with a stool on my right, Jackie on my left and Katie on Jackie s other side. Mrs.Richter
started to read the summary of the play and then a little description of each character. She was reading
the lead roles first. One of the lead roles was a character named Nick Bottom he was a donkey. Now,
when Mrs.Richter said that whomever played this character would be a donkey, I found this pretty
funny so I jokingly whispered to Jackie who was sitting next to me I want to be that guy. I didn t
announce it outloud, I quietly leaned over and whisper it to her. I, however, did not not know that
Mrs.Richter was sitting behind me so when I said this she heard me and said out loud to the class, Ok
Hannah, you can be Nick Bottom. My friends and I thought this was the funniest thing ever so we just
lost our minds and burst out laughing. When I laugh, I have the tendency to start crying if the situation
was funny, or in this case, ridiculous

The shares have been in more or less continual decline throughout this period. Many analysts are wondering why? (Anonymous 21). One explanation is that Marks Spencer has appeared on numerous share tip lists as an obvious recovery stock. Many important newspapers included the company in its New Year share tips, and the brokers have been unrelenting in rating the stock a buy. But investors don t have to read the newspapers to think in the same way as them. Marks Spencer is still a very good brand which in the past has achieved outstanding retail success. The logic behind buying the shares, then, is the belief that they must at some time bounce back (Anonymous 21). • 5. Analysis Of Consider The Lobster Consideration: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others How do you consider the lobster? David Foster Wallace wrote the essay Consider the Lobster. After the reading, the essay for the first time the thoughts that went through my head consisted of how the lobsters were treated and what Wallace thought of the lobsters. The lobsters are chosen out of usually a pot or a giant tank and then boiled to death. They are placed into a pot of boiling hot water and the saying that the lobsters are screaming in the pot comes to be true. Some people find it disturbing to listen to the sound while others cover the pot and not let it bother them. Also, from the first reading I thought that Wallace was being somewhat hypocritical because I got the idea that it was acceptable for him to eat and coo ketch lobsters but seeing it done in the setting of a restaurant, in a larger quantity makes it worse. Gathering all this information again had made me rethink the essay and look towards the deeper meaning. Wallace committed suicide in 2008 due to mental illness. So, when we consider the lobster does it mean that to be considerate of it? Another point I came to was about was mental illness and how in 2008 Wallace committed suicide. A Narrative Of The Captivity And Restoration Held Captive, but not in Spirit Puritans take their relationship with God seriously, see him as good, and rely on the Bible for guidance by reading it diligently. They look for ways that the Bible resembles their own real life situations and try to carry on similar as they did. This is called typology and is reoccurring theme in the narrative, A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration, written by Mary Rowlandson. Rowlandson was taken captive by Indians in 1675, she documented those eleven weeks in this narrative (Rowlandson ,256). It is a tragic tale that starts with seeing her family and friends drowning in their own blood, all the while seeing her old life go up in smoke. Mary is a fine example of puritan faith who never gave up hope. In Mary Rowlandson s narrative she demonstrates her puritan faith through typology and relying fully on God s providence to revive her spirit daily. Mary having only the cloths on her back, a sick baby, and a moldy cake in her pocket could only rely on God s providence to keep her and give her favor. She was wounded when taken captive, but God sent her someone to help her and give her medicine to apply to her wound. Then I took oaken leaves and laid to my side, and with the blessing of God it healed me also, (Rowlandson, 261). Characterizing The Structure Of Composite Material Characterizing the structure of composite material in a fishing rod Muad Saleh Abstract This report introduces the dependence of the mechanical properties of a fishing rod made from glass reinforced epoxy on the orientation, morphology, and volume fraction of the fibers used in making the rod. This has been achieved by studying the surface of multiple cross sections of the fishing rod that are mounted on epoxy by using optical microscopes. Then through analyzing different cross section, the mechanical properties of the studied fishing rod have been linked to orientation, size, shape, and volume fraction of the fibers. The fiber phase is usually made from materials that are usually stronger and have a higher modulus of elasticity than that of the matrix, but they are often very brittle [2]. Therefore, the matrix phase is usually the source of the composites ductility, whereas the fiber is the source of its strength. Furthermore, composited have a wider range of properties than the other types of material; thus, they are used in more application. For instance, the material used in fishing poles should have a high tensile and compressive strengths, and a high modulus of elasticity, as that they are subject to high stresses, which they need to withstand without failing or going through much plastic deformation. Moreover, fishing poles have to be ductile and flexible, as that they should have the ability to bend. Such properties cannot often be achieved by using a single type of material; however, those properties can be found in different composites. According to Philips [3], fishing rods are commonly made of fibers glass or carbon embedded in a matrix of epoxy or lignin. Because of the unlimited number of matrix/ fiber combinations that can be used to form composites, and the great number of variables that can be controlled in composite materials, composites can attain a wide range of mechanical properties. Uplifting the race was one of the most influential ideas of the time. Miscegenation, sexuality, and education are just three of the issues that were influenced by the racial attitudes of the times. Chestnutt shows the judge in the same struggle that he leaves his reader feelings. The customs of society say one thing; yet, true seems to be saying another. An Analysis of Seawater Intrusion in Coastal Aquifers Seawater intrusion is defined as the movement of seawater into freshwater aquifers which are generally made of ground water near the coast. An interface or dispersion zone is the area where fresh water and seawater meet. Analytical models and numerical models as well as Mathematical methods are used to find or to investigate solutions to this, as the seawater contaminates the fresh drinking water. The aim of this essay is to give an account of two modelling approaches that describe what happens at the interface by discussing the models. As well as to discuss how tides may have an impact on seawater intrusion. Ataie Ashtiani, Volker and Lockington(1999:17) suggested that there is a direct relationship between the area of the dispersion, the scale, the shape, the degree of the dispersion area, and parameters such as hydraulic conductivity, the comparative densities of the salt and fresh water as well as the rate of discharge of the ground water. There is limited accuracy to the usage of the models as the models are limited by assuming various situations. Altaie Ashtiani et al (1999:18) gestates the rare occurrence of salt water intrusion in ground water in two ways: the sharp interface approach and the disperse interface approach. My mom worked hard so that she had enough money saved for us all to migrate to the United States of America. In that instance I am sure that my story is similar to that of many other immigrants. The first stage of sleep is known as the alpha waves. Alpha waves are relatively slow brain waves of a relaxed, awake state (Myers, 2017, p. 55). During the alpha waves stage the person is not yet asleep, but is laying calmly with his or her eyes closed. Eventually the person falls asleep, without being consciously aware of it, and moves into stage two of sleep. Stage two, or NREM 1 sleep, is the time where people often have hallucinations or feel as if they are falling, when in reality nothing is there and they are laying flat on the bed. Any semiautomatic rifle with a pistol grip and a bayonet mount was an assault weapon (Plumer, 2012). During the ban, it was illegal to manufacture and sell the weapons listed above to be used by private citizens. They also regulated magazines, and they could now carry no more than 10 bullets. The history of conflict between the Dominican side of the island (influenced by Spanish colonial rule) and the Western Haitian side is long standing, dating back to the 1880 s. Upon the modern day landscape there is an imaginary line which divides Hispaniola into a land of two countries. One side of which is Haiti and the other the Dominican Republic. It is on the Dominican side where Gregory focuses his ethnography. Through anecdotal interviews bureaucratic and social borders are described, which not only exclude and disempower the Haitian residents of the country, but which also also alienate citizens of Dominican descent due to their financial state. • 24. Fear In Literature Of H. G. Wells And Ray Bradbury Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the response is to protect themselves. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell. Yet exposing ourselves to our personal demons is the best way to move past them (Sussex People, 1). Some people will approach the thrill lifestyle willingly, while others will stay away from it at all costs. When interpreting literature, it is important to understand what was the cause of the writing. In most science fiction pieces, the answer is fear. This same truth is evident in the literary works of two authors who shared similar ideas due to catastrophes going on in the world around them. H.G. Wells grew up during an industrial advancement in Europe. This advancement impacted the wars that were going on greatly. Killing was made more efficient and less personal. This affected the morals of the European society. H.G. Wells noticed the issue, and addressed them in his writing. Ray Bradbury also grew up in a time of war. The development of nuclear biological warfare greatly impacted his career. His fear of the end of the world by technology was the supreme basis of all of his works. By applying a historical lense, readers can observe that H.G Wells and Ray Bradbury are afraid of modernising technology due to their fear of bad ethics. The production of uranium through hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry. Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a number one priority. 2 Safety issues The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not properly managed. Radon is a colourless, tasteless gas and exposure to high levels can increase the chances of getting cancer. As a result, every country that has nuclear facilities, has regulations to ensure public land, air and water (both surface and groundwater) are protected now and in the future (Vance, 2014). It affected millions of lives throughout the country, even the rich. It caused families to use shabby clothes again and again, instead of buying new apparel and wasting money. People cut back on spending and where they spent it. Then, WWII affected the economy by putting it back on track. Along with it, was the Manhattan Project, which greatly affected the U.S. The Manhattan Project (America s nuclear bomb,) was used in Hiroshima, Japan, during WWII. The US was greatly feared by Japan and other countries then. The Manhattan Project also created the Hydrogen bomb, which was never used but alarmed the American and Soviet Union public. Although many television viewers are drawn to the legal field as a result of television s depictions of well dressed, glamorous lawyers who consistently dine out at fancy restaurants and win all of their cases in a record amount of time, as seen in shows like Suits, the real legal world consists of much more paperwork and routine tasks than is ... In reality, such behavior would not be tolerated as lightly as it is on screen. Another example of inaccuracy in terms of how certain behavior would be tolerated in a residency program is in season 1 of Grey s Anatomy when Izzie intentionally worsens her patient and love interest Denny s condition in the hopes of getting him moved up on the heart transplant list. She is allowed to stay in the program despite breaching more than one very serious medical rule; in reality, though, it is likely that such behavior would have much harsher consequences, but for the purposes of the show, these same rules do not seem to apply. Another aspect of the medical profession that appears to be largely dramatized is that of specialization. Doctors on television seem to specialize to all fields, whereas real life doctors take many years of gaining experience in order to specialize in one area. An example of such a disparity between television and reality can be seen in House M.D., when House single handedly performs multiple operations on the same patient, including a brain biopsy and a gastroscopy. My aunt, who is a breast surgeon, spent many years completing her residency before finally deciding to specialize in the treatment of breast cancer and other breast related issues.
