Methicillin-Resistant S. Aureus (MRSA)
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of hospital acquired
infections that are becoming increasingly difficult to treat because of emerging resistance to all
current antibiotics. Infections are created by pathogens, or microbes that create diseases. There are
different types of microbes including: bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Some microbes are
beneficial to the human body, however, there are pathogens that are deadly and require antibiotics.
Antibiotics are antimicrobials that were developed to destroy microbes. Penicillin, the first
commercialized antibiotic, was discovered in 1928 by Alexander Fleming.(Enright, Robinson,
Randle, 2002) While it wasn t distributed among the general public until 1945, it was widely used
in World War II for surgical and wound infections among the Allied Forces. Methicillin was
introduced in 1959 to treat infections caused by penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. In 1961,
there were reports from the United Kingdom of S. aureus isolates that had acquired resistance to
methicillin (methicillin resistant S. aureus, MRSA).(Enright, Robinson, Randle, 2002)

The CDC has set goals for improving handwashing to prevent the spread of infections. (Hospital
National Patient Safety Goals, 2016) With that said, handwashing is the number one intervention
that the patient, healthcare workers and families can improve upon to prevent the disease from
spreading. To stop the disease from spreading as a carrier, the CDC also recommends disinfecting
all gym equipment before and after use; showering well with soap and water before entering any
public saunas, hot tubs, or pools; showering immediately after participating in sports or working
out; and showering before any intimate skin to skin contact with another person. (Living With

Essay on The Benefits of Hydrogen Cars
The Advantages of Hydrogen Cars
As you know, gas prices are going up. Nobody likes paying more money for gas and yet nobody is
willing to do anything about it. Now that we are at war with the Middle East (the main gasoline
providers) the gas prices are going to keep going up. Some people (like foreign ambassadors) say
that trade with the Middle East is good for there economy, but I for one don t like being dependant
on foreign oil. That is where hydrogen fuel cells come into the picture. Rather than depending on a
foreign countries oil, to provide fuel, businesses today should look to hydrogen as an alternative
fuel source.
The United States is too dependent on foreign oil. If something were to happen, like another war

Then there is the fact that everybody would have to buy new cars in order for the process to work,
most people do not have the money, but the government could always do some kind of fund to
get the money for the people to buy the cars. Mechanics would have to go back to school to learn
how to work on the new cars, or they could put a small training course out and give it to the
mechanics. Finally, the last major problem with hydrogen is the fact that it is more flammable
then gasoline, this is only true if the gas is not contained properly. When you think of hydrogen,
you think of the blimp the Hindenburg, which was a hydrogen filled blimp, and then it explodes
because the gas was not contained properly. I think that all these problems can be fixed. Cars
powered by hydrogen get better gas mileage. They can go double the distance or even triple the
distance of the car with the best gas mileage on the market. The cars can t go as fast as cars can
today, but they can get very close. Toyota is the biggest supporter of hydrogen powered vehicles.
They already have working hydrogen cars in other countries on the road. They have many
prototypes ready and waiting for the US. Some people (like President Bush) like the idea for
hydrogen powered vehicles. He put in $3 billion after 9/11 towards hydrogen powered vehicles.

St. Vincent And The Grenadines Vs Guinea Essay
Case 2 5 St. Vincent and the Grenadines vs Guinea Facts: On November the 13th 1997, a St.
Vincent s and Grenadine agent filed a case against Guinea concerning the release of Marine
Vessel Saiga as well as its crew. The vessel had been taken into custody by the concerned
authorities after being suspected to be used for smuggling purposes. During its seizure, the
vessel was in the process of refueling both fishing vessels as well as normal vessels that were
operating off the coast of Guinea. During the time of its arrest, the vessel was drifting within the
Exclusive Economic Zone of Sierra Leone.St. Vincent and Guinea happen to be state parties of
the United Nations Convention on the Law of the sea thus making the tribunal to have a
jurisdiction in this particular case. Procedure: Issues 1.Was the Saiga in breach of violating
customs laws while in the restricted economic zone of Guinea by refueling other vessels in these
waters? 2.Is Guinea in infringement of the UN rule, Article 292 for failing to not be in line with
the timely discharge of the vessel and crew upon getting the agreed bond? Holding: No Rule:
During its seizure by the concerned authorities, the vessel was not in any violation of the existing
laws that could link it to smuggling. The vessel was acting as a fishing fuel under the known facts
that it was only refueling other vessels in the sea area. Concurring opinion The International
Tribunal for the Law of the Sea made a decision in this case that

Good By Muse
The first song I am deconstructing is the original Feeling Good by Nina Simone. This song was
recorded in 1965 when jazz, swing and soul music was very popular amongst American and
African American artists. The song is classified as rock influenced by the styles of jazz, swing and
soul. At the very beginning of the song, the low alto female voice is heard with no accompanying
instruments. The singing style includes the use of melismas and vibrato. When the song reaches
the chorus, brass instruments playing a low pitched riff are introduced with the pianoplaying high
pitched notes. This is continued throughout the second verse. At the second chorus s, strings are
added to the piano part. In the bridge, the singer is improvising over the chords... Show more

This song was recorded in 2001, 36 years after the original was released. Muse is known as an
alternative band, but this song s styles include heavy rock and progressive rock. At the start of the
song, the singer is singing softly, with the overall texture of the song being quite thin. The voice is
accompanied by a soft electronic sound and a soft guitar playing the riff. At around the chorus, the
guitars begin to play loudly and the singing style becomes more aggressive. Drums are introduced
thickening the texture of the song. These drums, along with the distorted guitars, loud singing style
and the thick texture are the heavy rock influences found in the song. These heavy rock influences
are found throughout the song. After the chorus, in the second verse, the singing style is changed
to an almost electronic voice. The frequent changes of mood, dynamics, styles and tempo and the
use of recording techniques are some of the progressive rock influences found in the song. These
occur in the second verse of the song. The guitars back off and the texture thins with just the piano
and drums playing softly. When the song comes to the second chorus, it returns to the same timbre
and dynamics as the first chorus. At the bridge, improvisation by the lead singer is heard with just
the bass guitar playing the riff. This decrescendos until there is nothing heard and the song ends.

Agricultural Revolution Essay
Welcome to the age of an agricultural revolution as everyday biotechnology continues to bring
innovation to human s most basic needs food. Food is essential to any living organism, providing
energy for our production and nutrients for our protection. Without this fundamental element, life
cannot exist. Our lack to produce our own energy, like plants, causes us to become dependent on
others for survival. Humans existence is attributed only to the million years of evolution our food
source underwent to sustain our survival. Changing the primary nature of our food source, whether
it is plant or animal, directs mankind in a dangerous future if our food dependency is permanently
hampered. Welcome to the age of an agricultural devolution... Show more content on

With only a 20 year history, genetic engineeringis only a young science with much uncertainly
relativity compared to other fields. Much of the elements bioengineering studies and experiments,
the DNA genome and sequence, are still unknown to the scientific community. Changes in genes
greatly transform the condition, structure, and essence of an organism, giving us an entirely
different and unnatural creation. Even when the physical effects are barely noticeable or deemed
safe and ethical, these modified creations effects on the environment are impossible to predict and
will only emerge when the damage done becomes evident to the human population. Though a large
unknown looms over modifying genes, bioengineering industries insist upon dismissing the scare
over genetic foods with the vast potential miracle foods can benefit upon human society.
Most of the promises made by these corporations are promises of luxury, not necessity, and carry an
inherently and dangerous risk. As science continues to understand further the basic element of life,
DNA, the danger involved genetically modifying organisms becomes apparent. The beneficial
potential genetic engineering brings are attractive, but paradoxically it also brings disastrous
potential at a greater degree. The qualities brought forth by these GM foods are not necessary for
our survival and only brings forth dangerous consequences to our health, environment, and
economy. In order to

Persuasive Essay On Equal Rights
Equal rights are guaranteed to all citizens no matter what race, sex, marital status and/or economic
status. Why should that change because of someone s sexual orientation? I believe most of what
our amendments say American citizens should do are not half way near what citizens actually do.
U.S News, Senator Jeff Merkley stated in 2015 that According to the Human Rights Campaign,
which advocates for greater LGBTrights, 31 states do not have laws that explicitly prohibit
discrimination based on sexual orientationor gender identity. I think that is wrong, we are not living
in the 1940s we should not be still arguing about whether we should not give equal rights to women
or LGBT. We are fighting about towards the LGBT community has equal rights/opportunities and
women having equal rights in 2017, you would think we are still in the 1720s. Recently Trump has
said that transgenderpeople will not be able to have military jobs. In the New York Times website
Matthew F. Thorn, executive director of OutServe, said in an interview We have transgender
individuals who serve in elite SEAL teams, who are working in a time of war to defend our
country, and now you re going to kick them out? . I agree with his anger and his confusion
because during Trump s election he made it very clear that he would make the LGBT community
feel at peace. Now he is just contradicting what he previously protrude to do. When Trump was
elected less than 15% that voted for him were identified as LGBT,

Why School Should Start Later Essay
Mesut Barazany once said, Your future depends on our dreams, So go to bed . Sleep is vital for
your body, to properly function the next day your body needs rest. When students have to wake
up at six in the morning to get ready for school, they are often tired throughout the day. School
hours need to be changed to a later time in the day. First, students sometimes get overloaded with
homework and may not be able to go to bed until late at night. Also, they may not get the amount
of sleep they need which is not healthy. Lastly, they are usually not as focused while they are in
class, sometimes even falling asleep during a lesson. Homework in general can be difficult for a
student, but when they get multiple assignments from more than one class, it can be overwhelming.
Homework alone can take hours on end to finish without adding after school activities like sports or
business at home. Studying for exams can be even more stressful and may take even longer than
doing homework, making late nights even later. Students have to study in order to get good grades,
but cutting their sleep short will not benefit them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sleep at night to function better the next day. It is important for students to make sure they get the

Summary of Week 1 class 1 Introduction to Case Management
Summary of Week 1 class 1 Introduction to Case Management To start off our information for the
first class one must define Case Management. Case Management is a course of action for a
situation involving an individual and the implementation of such a program; specifically, the
process by which all health related matters of a case are managed by a health professional. This
definition basically states that Case Managementis way for people in a down trot part of life to
have a plan of attack which can used to help correct their issues at hand, often this involves at
minimum another person or group of people to help the troubled person. A slight background will
be given as followed to introduce case management. To begin with the people... Show more content

(Maybe their rich and over protective parents never exposed their kid to the outside world, hence
leaving them incapable of dealing with people.) Often people will come to a case manager with
multiple issues and require an assortment of different services to meet their needs and be fulfilled.
(Woodside, McClam 27)
Another principle that one should be aware of is known as continuity of care. There are two parts
to this principle, the first one states that from the beginning of time when a client calls the case
manager/agency to the very end and beyond the ending of the care by providing a short term line of
assistance if necessary. The second part of this principle pretty much states that the case manager
maintains a persistent involvement within the client s life in the aspect of keeping a positive
connection with the family, significant other, and helping to make sure the established treatment
continues to be efficient. Hence checking up and keeping in touch. Just as equality has always been
an important desire in this country, case management is no different. (Woodside, McClam 29)
Therefore Equal access to services/advocacy is a very important part of case management. No
matter where one comes from, their race, creed, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and any other
ways people try

Frederick Douglass s Influence On American Society
Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, or better known, Frederick Douglass was born in
February 1818 to Harriet Bailey in Talbot County, Maryland. For a long time, Frederick did not
know his birthdate or his family lineage and it haunted him till the day he died. Frederick
Douglas family lineage reach as far back into the beginnings of America and maybe even further
into American prehistory. Douglass was believed to have Native American blood in him. Just
from the description of him, his broad forehead, heavy cheekbones, and yellow brown skin
(Preston, pg.9) and his childhood master calling him little Indian boy (Preston, pg.9) made a lot
of people assume that he was. Douglass once recalled about the time when a stranger on a
Hudson River steamer who took me for one of the noble red men of the far West. ...Douglas
replied that he was not an Indian but a Negro, he said the man turned away in disgust. (Preston,
pg.9) Frederick Douglass was proud that he was a Negro even though he had no problems with
Native Americans. Frederick Douglass passion for the abolition of slavery may be seen as arising
from his early childhood experiences from his brief stay with his first slave master, Aaron Anthony.
Before Living with Anthony, Douglass lived with his grandmother Betsey Bailey. Douglas did not
know his maternal mother, Harriet Bailey, because due to her work with Anthony, she was not
permitted to care for her own children. So his only motherly figure, his grandma, who took

Essay on Compare and Contrast Chinese and Japanese Mythology
Chinese and Japanese Mythology in Life Classic Chinese and classic Japanese mythology are quite
similar, in fact, they have more commonalities than differences. As examples, one can compare and
contrast the two mythologies in terms of characters, form and structure, creation myths, and
mythology s relevance to life. Animals and dragons also appear repeatedly in Chinese and Japanese
mythology. In this paper it will be shown that Chinese and Japanese mythologies are more similar
than different. The characters in both Chinese and Japanese myths have similar personalities and
reactions. For example, heroes in both mythologies use tricks, cunning schemes, and intelligence in
general achieve their goals, instead of just force and wit.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And although Chinese dragons are powerful fighters, they choose not to fight. Chinese mythology
has several distinctive qualities, one of the most individual is the fact that Chinese myths are very
concise: a single myth might only be one page long, but tells a story that could take up two or
more pages. For example, the sentence, The Wise Old Man at the River Bend stopped the foolish
old man shows an entire short scene. Japanese myths, on the other hand, are more story like in their
structure, and they are told simply. In fact, the Japanese myths are told so simply and this author
believes that they can be understood by children. Also Japanese myths have more of a definite
beginning, middle, and end.
Chinese creation myth
In the beginning, the universe was a black egg where heaven and earth were mixed together, and
in this egg was contained Pangu. He felt suffocated, so he cracked the egg with a broadax, and
the light, clear part of the egg floated up to form Heaven while the cold, heavy part stayed down
and formed Earth. Pangu stood in the middle, and he and the egg s two parts grew and grew until
he was nine million li in height.
When Pangu died, his breath became the wind and clouds, his voice the rolling thunder, and his
eyes the sun and the moon. His hair and beard became the stars in the sky, the flowers and trees

The Sixties And The End Of Collapsing
In terms of the amount of political upheaval that took place, the 1960s is probably the most
fascinating decade post World War II to study historically. To understand how the country was
almost at the brink of collapsing, one must survey one of the prominent political actors during the
decade: the student movement. According to William H. Chafe in The Unfinished Journey, the
student movement emerged from the feeling that President John F. Kennedys insistent call for the
young to fulfill America s unfulfilled promises was a mandate for action. Yet, the conclusions made
about the student movement in the 1960s are still contested today. David Steigerwald, author of

While Chafe s use of the Port Huron Statement is more so a summary of the attitudes of the student
movement, Steigerwald offers a critique of the student movement s ambitions. Steigerwald does not
deny that the Port Huron Statement was bold, stating that its critiques of U.S. Cold Warforeign
policy were both realistic and prescient and that the ideals presented in the statement were meant as
an antidote to the ills of bureaucratized society. Personal fulfillment was to be realized through civic
participation . However, Steigerwald argues that the deepest flaw of the student movement was that
it could encourage mere rebelliousness masquerading as radicalism, a phony radicalism that saw
politics as a vehicle for exhibitionism and self assertion rather than change . Steigerwald s critique
questions whether the student movement actually aimed to challenge the apparent status quo of the
American political landscape. Steigerwald s critique is in accordance with the larger historical
critique of the counterculture movement of the 1960s that the movement did not make the impact
that it intended to make. Chafe joins with Steigerwald on the critical

Essay On Acropolis
The acropolis is one of Greece s most monumental pieces that is still standing today, Built as a
place of worship. The temples within its walls were used to worship Greek gods like Athena and
Poseidon. Rising over three hundred feet above the city of Athens, it can clearly be noticed why
it is called The Acropolis , which means top of the city . It isn t the only acropolis in Greece, but it
was noticeable more than the others because of its almost flawless planning in where each building
is placed.
The winding rocky path that led up to the Acropolis was surrounded by numerous small shrines,
including one to the god Pan, who had appeared to the runner Phidippides before the battle of
Marathon. At its top was the Propylaia, an entryway and façade that formed the gateway to the
Acropolis. Once inside the Sacred Precinct you d notice the most fabulous building in there, The
Parthenon . The Parthenon was started in 447 BC, but they couldn t finish it so they completed it
some fifteen years later. It housed both a treasury and a sanctuary to Athena, in which was placed a
fantastic 12 meter high ivory and gold statue of the goddess Athena , called the Athena Parthenos .

Clash Of Kings Setting
As a reader objects and settings in books are key elements to make the story limpid. Without
elements such as the setting or the main objects in a book a story has no allure. A story without
any key objects would be like Texas Chainsaw Massacre without any chainsaws. Likewise a story
without a setting would be like walking through an art gallery without any art. в є These elements
are essential whether writing about science fiction, or writing about love, without them there is
no real rhyme or reason to the story. The book I am reading, A Clash of Kings by George R. R.

The first setting that will be elaborated on will be the area beyond the Wall. As Jon Snow and the

The drowned forest, more like it (Martin 354). The way Jon expresses the weather around him
is crucial to explaining the setting. Not only does he tell us what the place is known for he also
tells us that this place has a very unique appearance. The haunted forest gives us the illusion of
dark shadows, gloomy atmosphere, and tall trees with gnarled vines. All of these things can be
explained by the one phrase. In addition to gloomy atmosphere there is his statement about how
it should be called the drowned forest which indicates that there is probably lots of water and it
is possibly raining very heavily making a dreary and gloomy place even more so. Without these
phrases to describe the setting they are in the story would be bland and not near as exciting. If we

Stewardship Philosophy
I know the biblical doctrine of stewardship defines a man s relationship to God. It identifies God as
owner and man as manager. God makes man His co worker in administering all aspects of our life.
Starting with this concept, I am then able to accurately view and correctly value not only my
possessions but, more importantly, human life itself. In principle, stewardship defines my purpose
in this world as assigned to me by God Himself. It is my divinely given opportunity to join with
God in His worldwide and eternal redemptive movement. Stewardship is not God taking something
from me; it is His method of bestowing His richest gifts upon His people.
My heart directs human life; it is where decisions are made for my whole person. Six aspects are

Transformational Leadership and Transactional Theories
The domain of leadership theory and research has had many conceptualizations proposed over the
last few years (Avolio Bass, 2003). These conceptualizations seem to have generated recent interest
in the distinction among transformational, transactional, and laissez faire leadership research (Bass,
1990). Yukl (1998) noted that transformational leaders get followers to do as they desire by
transforming them or changing the followers themselves. According to Barlow, Jordan, and
Hendrix (2003), a transformational leader generates an image that awakens trust from subordinates
and develops relationships that enable subordinates to move toward goal attainment using their
knowledge, skills, and material resources to accomplish that end. Unlike transformational leaders,
transactional leaders pursue a cost benefit exchange approach that does not change subordinates and
uses portion or organizational resources to meet subordinates needs in return for contracted needs
rendered by the subordinates (Bass, 1990). Although these forms might appear diametrically
opposed, most theorists agree with Bass that they are not mutually exclusive. While
transformational, transactional, and passive/avoidant leadership are conceptually distinct, the same
individuals on a continuum might display these leadership behaviors by different amounts and
different intensities (Bass Avolio,

The Extent Of Personal Responsibility
The Extent of Personal Responsibility Taking place in two hemispheres from one another, the
plot to Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner and Phillip Roth s Nemesis have few common elements
to observe if one were to look strictly at the plot. However, looking deeper reveals that both
novels have startlingly similar elements and themes; ranging from fear, to a rejection of god. The
most significant theme in both of these novels is the concept of personal responsibility a concept
that defines Amir and Bucky and drives the way they act, in addition to influencing the plot of
each novel. Starting with protagonist Amir in Kite Runner, the pivotal point of responsibility is
first introduced when Hassan is raped by Assef following the conclusion of the kite runner
tournament that Amir won. This moment is the single most significant moment in the entire
novel: I stopped watching, turned away from the alley (67). This quote establishes the theme of
personal responsibility, and this very event would go on to define Amir throughout the entirety of
the novel, as Amir would go on to decades later to state: We had both betrayed the people who
would have given their lives for us (197). Another point is established with this, that being the
question of how far claiming responsibility go before being considered unreasonable? Looking at
this particular scene, one has to wonder, what could have Amir have been able to do in this
situation? While fleeing the scene is debated as a lack of

Co workers also noticed that
Arthurs was becoming increasingly forgetful. He was often unable to remember stock numbers,
colour codes, product lines, packaging modes, and other information essential for serving clients
efficiently and completing orders accurately. These problems were subtle in 1987, but became quite
pronounced and embarrassing over the next three years.
In May 1989, Arthurs and Jackson had a conflict relating to the purchase of a new company car.
According to Jackson, Arthurs presented him with a quotation for a car, which, in Jackson s view,
included $2,500 in unnecessary options. Jackson informed
Arthurs of his concerns and instructed him to find a car worth $13,000 instead of
$16,000. Jackson then left town on business and when he returned was distressed to find that
Arthurs had made his proposed car purchase with almost all of the unnecessary options. Jackson
issued the cheque to pay for the car, but also included a note to Arthurs saying that he had lost
confidence in the sales representative. It was about this time that
Jackson contemplated firing Arthurs, but decided instead to be a nice guy and overlook the matter.
At the end of 1989, Jackson decided to reassign the North Vancouver independent accounts from
Arthurs to another Western Agencies salesperson because the existing accounts had shown minimal
growth and no new accounts were being added.

The State Of Utopi A Continuity Of Operations Plan
Introduction. The State of Utopia has determined to develop a Continuity of Operations Plan
(COOP) that incorporates all of the key state governmental functions. The National Guard (NG)
being one of these key organizations has been tasked to develop and coordinate their own plan and
ensure it nests correctly within the stateplan. The Adjutant General of Utopia has ordered that the
Joint Staff produce a COOP that relocates the affected units to an alternate site, accounts for and
protects all personnel and equipment, and maintains mission command capabilities. We must
maintain the ability to quickly generate ready forces to safeguard Utopia and protect the nation
while adding value to our communities. The National Guard of Utopia is made up of
approximately 2,000 Army NG (ARNG) members, 1,500 Air NG (ANG) members, and 150 state
employees spread across 24 different campuses statewide. The National Guard also services
approximately 4,500 veterans throughout the state.
The problem. The National Guard has a Pandemic Influenza (PI) Continuity of Operations Plan,
but it does not have a COOP plan that covers an all hazard approach. Even though there is a PI
COOP, it was written in 2009 and at best has been minimally exercised which included one TTX
and a drill on a small portion of the entire plan. Since then there has been little emphasis placed on
developing an all hazards COOP.
The objective. To have an effective all hazards COOP for the Utopia NG that nests both the

Analysis of Ronald Reagan s Sppech, The Challenger Disaster
While seated in the Oval Office of the White house, January 28, 1986 President Ronald Reagan
delivers his speech The Challenger Disaster; hours after the space shuttle The Challenger
explodes while in take off. Thousands witnessed this horrifying event live in person and on
television. This mission was very unique allowing the first civilian to ever be allowed in space
during a mission. She was aboard The Challenger as an observer in the NASA Teacher in Space
Program. Ironically, nineteen years before this disaster, three astronauts were tragically lost in an
accident on the ground. President Reaganremembers those astronauts that were lost not only the
day of the disaster, but also those who were lost nineteen years before. He conducts... Show more

This speech has meaning, excites emotions and reaches out to all, which makes it a great speech.
Although Reagan chooses to ignore his administrations responsibility in The Challenger disaster, he
concentrates instead on reassurance of the nation which makes this speech uplifting to the
American people.
Invention
To do a rhetorical analysis of this speech we would follow the Neo Aristotelianapproach. The Neo
Aristotelian approach consists of five canons which are invention, organization, style, memory
and delivery. First I will start off with Invention. According to Foss the critic s concern in
applying the canon of invention is with the speaker s major ideas, line of argument, or content
(29). Invention is divided into two categories: external proofs and internal proofs. External proofs
include sources used by the author but does not create, including testimony of eyewitnesses (Foss
29). I will focus on the internal proofs of this speech, which are logos or logical argument; ethos,
the appeal of the speaker s character and pathos, emotional appeal. In the speech of The Challenger
Disaster Reagan does not necessarily present an argument, but rather a speech to console and find
meaning. He starts the speech by recognizing the terrible accident that happened nineteen years ago
and relates it to The Challenger disaster. The events are factual and therefore are logical to be
included in the opening of this speech. To begin the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ipv6
In the previous section I presented an overview of current adoption of IPv6, described its main
features, and detailed the new address protocol header format.
In this section, I will introduce IPv6 operating mechanisms such as transition technologies that
allow its coexistence with IPv4 or essential protocols like Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP) the
replacer of Address Resolution Protocol for IPv4. Furthermore in this Section I will focus on
security aspects regarding all mentioned mechanisms, protocols or IPv6 features like the new
security paradigm that raises with the end of NAT or the reconnaissance game changer due to huge
address space of IPv6.

This model pretends to one would like to make any system and any application running on it able

application regardless of whether they have an IPv4 stack and connectivity or IPv6 stack and
connectivity. It is the only mechanism that allows IPv4 only devices to speak to IPv6 only (e.g.

During the last decade, most people simple thought something like I am just running IPv4 and it
works well... so I donВґt care about IPv6 yet! .
The problem is that IPv6 is enabled by default along with IPv4 on most OS since 2005 using the
Dual Stack mechanism. This means that IPv6 communications can occur despite ACL or firewall
rules, if those are not properly set to handle IPv6. This raises one of the biggest security problem
which is invisibility , it means that the network we can see is IPv4 but hidden communications can

Immigration Policies Essay
There are many countries around the world that have very limited opportunities within the sphere
of immigration policies. A few examples are Italy, Japan and United Arab Emirates. Now that being
said all of these places aren t necessarily unfavorable places for immigrants, they are just found to
still hold restricting policies. These policies include paying money for immigrants to leave,
detaining them, and refusing rights. Through all established immigrationpolicies there is heavy
debate and controversy, but it s usually pretty easy to agree on policies that come off as too harsh.
In Italy, immigration is managed from North Africa and the Mediterranean by enforcing strict
immigration policies. Their current policies allow immigration officials to fine illegal immigrants
anywhere between €5,000 10,000 and detain them for up to 6 months. This is only one of their
immigration laws and it made people furious. There were two days of riots that left everything
destroyed, officers in the hospital and rioters detained. Though this immigration policy is still in
place Italy is ranked fairly well by MIPEX (Migration integration policy index).
Japan is another state that has always had immigration problems, but in an attempt to help their
unemployment rates, they put in place a policy that slowed down the importation of cheap labor.
They have had labor shortages because of their aging population and their change in needs. Though
labor shortages have been a problem the government,

Investing in the securities market seems like a good idea until one day you ve lost all your money
and you re hitting your head against the wall wondering where you went wrong while High
Frequency Trading firms are racking up profits by shorting the stocks you thought were going to go
up. The contention behind High Frequency Trading arises from the idea that since the individuals
and companies who have access to these supercomputers that compute complex algorithms are able
to receive information on the markets before the average investor , they are playing the field and
making it uneven. The idea behind High Frequency Trading addresses many of the essential Human
Rights course questions such as morality, one s responsibilities and duties to another, civil action,
and the human condition itself. High Frequency Trading should be eliminated from the financial
markets because it is unfair to the average investor, causes legal implications by shifting the market
to the advantage of certain firms, and lacks regulation necessary to promote an even playing field
for all investors.
Since the very beginning of High Frequency Trading, the contention of its use has been deemed
unfair to the average investor in the securities market. An example of an instance in which the
ethics of High Frequency trading can be questioned is Trillium Capital. This company engages

Using Cloud Based Project Management Software Essay
Introduction Keeping track of various tasks, timelines, resources and risks while managing a
project can be very difficult. This can however be easier to manage in projects by using cloud
based Project Management Software (PMS) tools, which can help project managers and their
team manage those tasks in IT projects. For this WIKI, two PMS tools are to be described to
help assist final year Research and Development students in choosing the best PMS tool for their
project. The criterion used in selecting the PMS tools is that it shall have at least one key
feature that can help manage the project for each of the process groups of Initiating, Planning,
Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing project. The PMS tool must also be
provided by using the Software as a Service (SaaS) approach. This means that the product is
provided by an Application Service Providers (ASP) and made available through the Internet.
The PMS tools that we have decided to do are WRIKE and Teamwork, which we feel are the two
suitable tools from the many that have been researched. Wrike Background Wrike is a cloud
based PMS tool that was founded in 2006 Andrew Filev. It is a popular PMS tool used by many
large companies such as, Party Rockers records. Wrike focuses on collaboration and task
managements allowing users to share documents, discuss tasks with group members and
collaborate. We feel Wrike is a quality PMS tool as it has many of the features that quality PMS
tools should have such as

Benefits Of A Unified Salary Schedule
There are many advantages and disadvantages to a single, unified salary schedule. These types of
salary schedules only recognize years of service and amount of education to determine salary
amounts for all certified staff. Each salary schedule has strengths and areas of improvement, and
analysis of the salary schedule will highlight these areas. Salary schedules, including Hollister
RV School District s, only require teachers to remain employed thorough the school year to earn
a raise in pay for the next year, automatically moving to the next step on the salary schedule. Pay
increases also are earned by moving to the next lane or column based on the hours of graduate
credit completed toward an advanced degree, such as a Masters, Specialist, or Doctoral degree.
Hollister RV School District s certified staff s salary schedule discloses several areas of
exceptionality, highlighting what is important to the District. However, there are also areas to be
improved, including recruitment and retention (Hollister RV School District, 2016). One
exceptional characteristic of the salary schedule is that the vertical steps carry the same monetary
value as the horizontal columns with the exception of completing a Master s degree or a
Specialist degree. This salary schedule indicates an equal value is placed on service and completed
education. Upon completing a degree, staff salaries increase $960 instead of the $480 earned by
simply accumulating additional hours of education.

What is Confict Transformation
Conflict transformation explains that rather then getting rid of the conflict (expression or
disagreement), it seeks to work at the problem from the inside out (Lederach, 1995). In this conflict
stated above the root of the conflict was when the customer did not retain her information and
software due to the suggestion given of performing a factory reset her computer. This problem
could have been resolved when the customer first came in the store and inquired about this issue.
The sale representative could/should have told the customer to backup her data and then suggested
a reset, even better the salesrepresentative could have done it for the customer. In saying this HP
should have also informed the customer that such things can occur when factory resetting a device.
Conflict Transformation is also reliant on a moral decision that are made on the spot and
understanding that not all conflicts are going to be all right and that faith may played a major
role in the end result (Lederach, 1995). We can see that the first impression that the customer
received and was directed to HP was an incorrect moral decision that was made on the spot. Due
to this decision it lead to frustration and a lengthy process to resolve for all parties. This gave the
customer a wrong impression of what both companies are like and may never shop with us again.
Another conflict resolution method that could have been used to handle this conflict is the interest
based relational (IBR) approach

How To Stop Animal Cruelty Persuasive Essay
Animal Cruelty is becoming a very large problem that needs to be taken care of. Animal Cruelty
is largely in certain activities , such as circuses, dog shows, dog fighting, and even zoos.
Although people find this to be entertaining, interesting, and something out of the ordinary, it is
still something that is causing harm to these animals and needs to be stopped. These wild
animals are still animals, animals that have feelings, ones that don t deserve to be tortured. How
would you feel if someone locked you in a cage for the rest of your life, forced you to perform in
front of crowds, whacked you when you weren t doing what you were supposed to, hit you when

People that think these animals were meant to do this kind of stuff, that this is why they are bred,
why they are even here. Even places such as zoos, they consider being important, even if a lot of us
totally disagree on that matter.
Konwiser was a zoo keeper who was killed by a Malayan tiger. This animal was in confinement,
something animals should not be in, especially wild animals. You never know when one of those
animals are going to strike, they are wild animals, we don t know about the behavior of wild
animals as well as we do with animals that we have as pets. Animals in confinement are like ticking
time bombs, Carney Anna Nasser, a senior counsel with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, told The
Post hours after Konwiser died. (Milian Jorge)
Granted, a lot of these animals are born in captivity and wouldn t be able to survive on their
own. That also means that their parents were taken out of the wild and put into captivity, or that
they are breeding these animals. Which is also a very bad thing for these poor animals. For
starters, Hanna said that 98 percent of animals kept at more than 200 zoos across the United States
were born in captivity and would find it impossible to live on their own. They don t come from the
wild, Hanna said. (Milian

person. Ovid was born Publius Ovidius Naso, March 20, 43 BC AD 17/18, and he was a Roman
poet who lived during the reign of Augustus. With a contemporary style relative to that of Virgil
and Horace with whom he is often compared and rank with as the trio being the three most

As Ovid would guide us into this story there are several occurrences of death or reincarnation
represented in his thoughts. He often cross references man and beast body parts being morphed

cannibals, and people with un natural affections. Orpheus often retreated to places where he could

Suspended Driver s License In Violation
INTRODUCTION:
This case involves the suspect being arrested for driving on a suspended driver s license in
violation of CVC 14601.1 (a) Suspended Driver s License and an outstanding arrest warrant.
INVESTIGATION:
On 05 18 17 at 0107 hours, I was working uniformed patrol in police unit #16. I was traveling west
on Walnut Street approaching Madison Avenue. I observed a tan 4 door Kia Amanti also
traveling west on Walnut Street, directly in front of me. I saw that the vehicle did not have a rear

I activated my overhead emergency lights/siren and conducted a traffic stop on Walnut Street
east of Madison Avenue. I contacted the driver, later identified as Suspect Emajanae Ayashi
Whitebear and asked for her driver s license, registration and proof of insurance. Whitebear gave
me a California ID card instead of a California driver s license. Whitebear stated her California

Social and political critique and commentary in Bonnie and Clyde
The fact that the story is set 35 years ago doesn t mean a thing. It had to be set sometime. But it
was made now and it s about us. Roger Ebert 1
At the time of its release in 1967, Bonnie and Clyde was the subject of intense debate. While the
American film critic Roger Ebert hailed it as a milestone in American moviemaking, Bosley
Crowther, another critic, referred to it as a cheap piece of bald faced slapstick

Within this rather traditional framework however, Bonnie and Clyde makes several compelling
statements about 1960 s America. [This is too short to be a paragraph on its own.]
Violence almost defines Bonnie and Clyde. It runs like a silver thread through the entire film.
Graphic violence is today a rather common and somewhat natural characteristic of modern cinema,
but before Bonnie and Clyde, it certainly was not. Arthur Penn introduced it in 1967. Before
Bonnie and Clyde violence in film was hinted at or just implied through various sorts of acting
techniques. Arthur Penn decided to show the audience the real, brutal and raw side to violence,
using brilliant camerawork but more importantly, top notch special effects and masterful visual
skills. In Bonnie and Clyde the violence never feels fake, but terrifyingly real. Take for example
the first graphic scene of the film, in which Clyde shoots a store owner s face clean off, as he
tries jump aboard the robbers getaway car. The man s head basically explodes, splattering blood
and pieces of brain all over the car window, and Penn shows us, the audience, this (although not in a
Tarantinto splasher like way, but nevertheless) in a quite unromantic but very powerful and
dramatic way. The scene is almost reminiscent of the famous scene from Battleship Potemkin 3
where the mother is shot in the face, and her

Willow and Tara can not verbally talk to communicate, once the Gentlemen are gone and they get

show that they care for one another is to kiss. Losing their voices helps them make multiple

Cardiovascular Disease Study Guide
Vascular Disease Summary
The cardiovascular disease defines conditions that affect the heart or blood vessels. Thrombosis,
which emanates from blood clots, reduced blood flow to the heart, brain and the rest of the body.
When fatty acids deposit in the artery, it hardens and narrows. These issues lead to stroke, coronary
heart disease, aortic disease and peripheral arterial disease. Coronary heart disease occurs due to a
reduced or blocked flow of oxygen rich blood to the heart. It is a result of accumulated fats in the
coronary arteries. Coronary arteries are a set of blood vessels that take blood to the heart. When
they become narrow, the heart gets less of a supply of blood and oxygen causing chest pains,

on public health. The policy targets chronic diseases like heart diseases. It targets women
because of the influence that they have in the society. It deals with the prevention of chronic
illness, healthy aging, reproductive and sexual welfare, mental health and well being. The
policy points out overall general points concerning heart disease. It recognizes it as the leading
killer and an enormous burden on women. Age is a risk factor that the heart and stroke
association highlights. 82 percent of deaths from cardiovascular diseases occur among people
aged 65 and above. Although, more men, than women, stand higher risks of heart disease, the
risk increases in women once they hit menopause. Other risky activities that these policies

Nile River Cycle Analysis
In Egypt, the Nile River creates a rich green valley across the desert. It was by the banks of the
river that one of the oldest civilizations in the world began. The ancient Egyptians lived and farmed
along the Nile, using the soil to produce food for themselves and their animals. Document A, a map
of Egyptaround 1500 BCE, was founded by multiple sources and was created in order to illustrate
how the placement of the river was beneficial to the success of cities across Egypt. The creators of
this map had no bias because the structure of the document is strictly factual. The map demonstrates
the areas that are gray represent the fertile NileValley. The Nile Valley is spread across lower and
upper Egypt, from cities such as Buto to Abu Simbel. It is an important document because it
clarifies how the river was able to have a strong influence on the citizens of Egypt. This indicates
that there was a vast number of people that had to depend on the Nile as a freshwater source, even
for tasks included in their daily life.
Document B, a chart of The Nile River Flood Cycle, written by Katherine Hinds was written to
explain how the different seasons of Egypt were affected by the river s flood cycle. Hinds view on
the river s flood cycle may be influenced by the fact that she will unintentionally compare ancient
Egypt s different seasons to modern times, however, this bias is not evident in the text. The
seasons mentioned were Akhet, the flood season, Peret, the planting and growing season, and
Shemu, the harvest season. Akhet took place in mid June to mid October, and in these months
the fields were subjected to flooding, due to the surrounding river, which meant farmers were
provided with more labor such as canal repair. Peret came to pass in mid October to mid
February where enough time has passed for the water to subside and supply irrigation canals, in
which crops were planted and sustained until Shemu, which took place until the cycle resumed its
place in Akhet, where they were then harvested and sold in the market. The document s intent was
to express how the different seasons were useful to everyday life long ago. It is significant because
it shows how people were employed and citizens were provided with

The men forged papal powers insulting the French, so that people would go against the Pope.
The people believed in these lies and grew angry with the Pope demanding he be tried before the
church council. Nogaret went with a army to capture the pope, in which they were successful.
They held him as prisoner for two day and tortured him before he was freed by locals. However,
the pope died soon after he escaped from Nogaret. In the eyes of many Christians this may be seen
as unacceptable because they are being violent. Especially, since it s the pope they are inflicting

Violence, Power, and Goals in the Hebrew Bible and The...
Violence is a means to an end. Violence is not something most humans resort to for enjoyment.
Violence is, however, the right thing to be done in certain situations. With violence, comes great
power. Power and violence walk together, hand in hand. When violence is exhibited, the power of
the individual is shown to those around him. In both the Hebrew Bible and The Iliad, violence is
depicted as a mode to reach goals. The reason for this is that violence allows an individual or a
deity to flaunt their powers, while they simultaneously achieve their personal and communal
ambitions. Just like how mortals have their own goals, deities also have an agenda. God, in the
Hebrew Bible, has only two goals: to have humans obey Him blindly and to... Show more content

Sacrifices are, in nature, very violent. Innocent blood is spilled to please the vengeful God. In
Exodus 12, the Lord struck down all the first born in the land of Egypt, from the first born of
Pharaoh who sat on the throne the first born of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the
first born of the cattle (Exodus 12:29). God did all that just because the Pharaoh stubbornly
refused to let the Israelites leave his country. The immense sacrifice of the first borns of man
and beast was an act of violence that led the exodus of the Israelites. The mass murder of the
Egyptian people and livestock also proves to the Pharaoh the great power of God, a power that
would have remained unseen if not for the plagues and the executions. For after the Pharaoh
witnessed the death of at least one man or one beast in each Egyptian s household, he said, Up,
depart from among my people...Go, worship the Lord as you said (Exodus 12:31). With this
final act of violence, God helped reach the Israelites communal goal: to leave the oppressive
Egypt and to enter the liberal Promise Land of Canaan. Because humans were created in God s
image, it makes perfect sense that humans will use violence as a way to achieve their own goals,
just like what God does. In I Samuel, David had one goal during the Goliath episode: to let this
whole assembly (the soldiers) know that the Lord can give victory without sword or spear. For

• Describe The Three Broad Categories Within The DSM-2
The most well known and widely used diagnostic classification system is the DSM V
(Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders). In the early 1900, steps were taken to
follow a system similar to the DSM that is currently used today. The DSM I was first published
in 1952 by the American Psychiatric Association, with the DSM II being released in 1968 as an
amendment of the original (Pomerantz, 2014). While the earlier editions of the DSM were
similar to each other, they were very different from the other editions later released (Lilienfeld
Landfield, 2008). There were three very broad categories in the earlier editions: neuroses which
would include mood disorders such as major depression and anxiety disorders; psychoses which
would include disorders like schizophrenia; and character disorders which are known today as
personality disorders (Blashfield, Flanagan, Raley, 2010).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The language used in the definitions reflect the psychoanalytic approach to how professionals
viewed mental illness at the time, due to psychoanalysis being the main view of the psychiatrics
(Pomerantz, 2014). A further difference between the editions is the way the symptoms were
described: instead of being a list of specific symptoms for each disorder, it was a simple paragraph
giving a vague description of the disorder leading to limited generalisability for the practising
professionals (Woo Keatinge,

Roethkes Use of Tone Essay
Roethke s Use of Tone
Childhood experiences seem to be the ones that are recollected most vividly throughout a person s
life. Almost everyone can remember some aspect of his or her childhood experiences, pleasant and
unpleasant alike. Theodore Roethke s poem My Papa s Waltz suggests even further that this
concept could be true. The dance described in this poem illustrates an interaction between father
and child that contains more than the expected joyous, loving attitude between the two characters.
Roethke s tone in this work exhibits the blended, yet powerful emotions that he, as a grown man,
feels when looking back on this childhood experience. The author somewhat implicates feelings of
resentment fused with a loving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This stanza also provides the reader with the feeling of how aggressive this dance may be.
Roethke is apparently referring to his father s belt buckle in the last line of the third stanza.
During an aggressive act such as this, a small child would experience pain from such a man s
belt buckle scraping across his ear in this fashion, yet the child refrains from any type of
resistance. Perhaps this is caused by the child s fear that his father will become angry, so the child
simply endures the pain and tries to enjoy the moment, for he may also feel love and attention that
he may not receive regularly from his father.
Bridges 3 John J. McKenna offers us further suggestions about the feelings suggested in this poem.
In McKenna s article, two of the holograph manuscripts to My Papa s Waltz are discussed.
McKenna implies that the changes made between these manuscripts are further evidence that this
poem shows mixed emotions through the tone that Roethke utilizes. These holograph manuscripts
are labeled MS A and MS B at the University of Washington where they are contained in the
archives. The first of these changes discussed in McKenna s article is the gender of the child in
the poem. He discusses how Roethke seemed to argue with himself about what the sex of the child
should be, but finally chooses male for a few different reasons. It seems plausible that he did
recognize the rough house nature of

Anabolic Steroids And Its Effects On The Body
A 16 year old high school junior was told by his coach that he needed to be stronger and faster if
he wanted to play more in his senior year. The young man was discouraged because he has been
trying for years to gain weight and muscle, but it just was not enough. He remembered a friend
telling him about what anabolic steroids had done for him and decided to try it, he would later
regret that decision. Anabolic steroids are drugs that reciprocate certain natural hormones in the
body such as the male hormone testosterone, which can improve endurance and performance and
stimulate muscle growth. Even though anabolic steroids may provide the body image and
results some adolescents want, they can be harmful to the adolescent body and mind, it s not fair
to those who gained weight and muscle naturally because they may have a smaller chance of
recognition, and there are safer alternatives that can assist in gaining weight and muscle.
According to Dr. Ali Mohamadi, a medical doctor from the FDA, states that, Various studies have
been conducted and generally reflect the findings of a Youth Risk and Behavior Surveillance
System study, which estimated that among U.S. high school students, 4.9% of males and 2.4% of
females have used anabolic steroids at least once in their lives. That s 375,000 young men and
175,000 young women. Anabolic steroids can pose a major threat to the adolescent body and
mind, especially if they are abused over a long period of time. The adolescent body

Bushs Tax Cut Essay
There are two words in the English language that when combined will cause immediate joy and
skepticism at the same time. Tax Cut, although at first it sounds only good there can be some
setbacks. George W. Bush entered his term in office with an aggressive agenda to cut taxes that
turned heads in his favor; however, some people don t think his cuts are fair or effective.
The United States economy is slowly creeping towards a recession. The stock market has shown
repeated drops. Consumers are not purchasing and even savings and loans are down for fear of a
huge economic crash. The only bright spot is a housing market that refuses to yield as apparently
consumers are still positive enough to purchase houses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His plan is to totally cut 1.6 trillion dollars in the next ten years and he even leaves open the
possibility of a 60 billion dollar reduction this year alone. Bush is confident that this plan is sound
and very workable thanks to a 5.6 trillion dollar surplus that is being predicted. Overall the Bush
plan would reduce marginal tax rates for about 2.9 million of the 13.9 million working families
with children that now get the earned income tax credit. Another 2.6 million families would get tax
reductions or large tax rebates even though their marginal tax rates would not be affected. the
current federal income tax system does not tax the earnings of low income working families with
children, but this is only true for very low income families, the lowest five percent in fact. Bush s
plan would increase this to about the lowest eight or nine percent. Bush states that his plan would
encourage hard work in the average American household because the more overtime a person works
the more their taxes are cut on that extra pay. Many Americans hope that Bush s plan will be passed
and that they can enjoy one of the largest tax cuts in recent history. Economists are hoping that the
cut is just what the economy needs to jumpstart the consumers.
Despite the mainly positive outlook towards Bush s new plans many economist are very skeptic of

Zacatecas, Mexico on May 9th, 1998 and was brought to the United States at the age of two.
When my parents tried to enroll me into a pre kindergarten program they were told that it was
unnecessary because I was way beyond my age group. My parents told me that it was from all of
the Scooby Doo shows I watched growing up. When kindergarten arrived, I was still forced to

In 10th grade I had an English teacher by the name of Mrs. Hurley. The school year started with
me disliking her, I thought she was extremely rude and was just cranky all the time. In her class
is where I read my first Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet she made that unit extremely
amusing. She had us split into families and we would have battles, they consisted of games and
quizzes. I was Lord Capulet and my team won of course. After 10th grade she became my
advisory teacher in 12th grade. She easily became one of my favorite teachers that constantly
teased me on my obsession with Adele. The teacher that made the biggest impact in my life was
Mrs. Marn. She was an extremely caring teacher, she did not like watching her students fail. She
made sure that everyone had everything they needed to be successful. She was, I believe, one of
the best English teacher Brooklyn Center High School has ever had. Her passion for books were out

hippie in some sorts. She was very open with us and I was close to her. She was my teacher for
10th, 11th, and 12th grade. I read, The Catcher in The Rye in her class and she tore that book up
piece by piece, explaining every motive and how innocence is huge part of that book. She was my

Greek Man Research Paper
How long must a person be dead for it to be considered anthropology and not grave robbing? The
answer should be never, but many government officials don t agree. In the summer of 1996, a skull
was found in the Columbia River. After a police investigation, a nearly complete skeleton was
found. Forensic anthropologist James Chatters began to study the bones and after a carbon dating
test, the skeleton was found to be over 9,000 years old! Almost immediately five tribes, many
anthropologists (including Chatters), some government officials, and a few other groups began to
sue each other for the rights to the remains. The Native Americans believed the man to be their

Italy Cultural Awareness
Culture gets defined as the shared behavior that usually exists within a given group of people, and
is known to have learned and develop with time through socialization in the families, social groups,
and schools. This group of people has to reach an agreement for that culture to exist. Culture
awareness, therefore is the understanding that someone has about the difference between
themselves and other groups of people from other countries or even other backgrounds. It could be
differences regarding their behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, norms and their values. Different people do
things in a particular way; they view the world in various manners and even react to things in a
variety of ways (Whittaker, A. 2010 ). Culture awareness in Italy is the focus of this paper.
Broadly discussed, Italian culture entails, arts, family issues, food, architecture, and music. Although
other ethnicities live in this country, it becomes known that about 96% of Italy is composed of
Italians. The country s official language is Italian, and majority speaks it as their primary language.
The Italian family became viewed as a significant value. Most dwell in extended families rather than
the nuclear family who are only composed of father, mother, and children. The families gather for
multiple occasions throughout the year, and even more for no special occasion at all except to be
with one another, this tradition continues on with their children and their children s

Examine Key Challenges Faced by the Public Sector...
* Examine the key challenges for public sector management in the global south. Illustrate your
answer with contrasting country examples.
Most of the global south countries such as the African countries have attained their independence
around the 1950 s and 1960 s. The public sectors which are known as the government sector have
set of roles that need to be look after the welfare of the state such as the security, environment,
health system, education and so forth. The public sector in the global south has some key issues
that need to be tackled. Some of the key challenges that needs tackling is the reduction of poverty,
corruption and aid which has been prevailing for a very long time.
Yet, it cannot be easily forgotten to mention... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The financial institutions allocate financial aids to countries according to their criteria and how
well their public institutes operate or perform. This leads to pressure on the global south, leading to
governance conditionality which many countries are not so happy about it. For instance Kenya had
been given five times aid without any result of progress. Until 2000 IMF bank actual withheld aid
from them after a court hearing about the anti corruption authority. The challenges that global south
face is the need for good governance. (Glennie,J, 2008).
However, some countries are not happy with the fact that the international institutions need to
dictate to them on how to run their country and apply pressures. On the other side of the coined
most of the global south countries have less accountability and transparency which makes difficult
to account for the use of the fund. The government capacity is really important for the
development of the public sector as many countries have developed under a strong regime and the
outcome was brilliant example Korea and China. Accountability is very important for both the
public sector as well as the international donors; it also gives voice to the poor people.

POLI 3001 Short Essay
Within all nation states, a political regime is imposed which attempts to protect the individual
interests of that country, however, it can also have the potential to limit that countries economic
development and the United States and China are no exception to this rule. This essay will discuss,

In contrast, the PRC, operating under a single party does not have the same incentives to bow to
popular political pressures. However, it was displayed clearly during the Global Financial Crisis
(GFC) and noted by (Curran and Von Acker 2010, 185) that in times of crisis the PRC will tend
to retreat from the privatisation of the economy for a significantly increased state intervention ,
including such measures as ordering the mainly state owned banks to cut the size of loans granted
to private enterprises (Wang and Iftikhar 2010). This kind of government control can have
negative impacts on business but are sometimes considered as an acceptable trade off, as in the
case of the compulsory minimum wages set and tightly controlled in the United states by the
federal government and set in the PRC by autonomous provinces and municipalities, which allows
for corruption and abuse by domestic and international business. While the Chinese market
promises cheap land and labour, it must be understood that recklessly abusing such activities will
tarnish that rare commodity that is brand image. For some, such as Hitachi the offer is simply too
tempting to refuse and they take advantage of what Barboza (2006) describes as the cheap land
and labour and the factory system where young workers essentially march to their jobs every 8
hours, often from company owned dormitories nearby .
Another important consideration when deciding where to locate a business is the

cheeks. Leo let out a grunt and opened his eyes. They were blue, Taran s deep blue, and Taran
did not bother to check his tears of love. Did you hear all that? asked Alis, a soft smile on her

contaminated the hairs. The hairs collected could had been switched from its rightful evidence bag,
altering the results.
Conclusion:
If each person s hair has different color and width examined on a microscope then the match found
between the suspect;s hair and crime scene hair must be the same person because each person s
hair has different set of characteristics. This hypothesis had been accepted, after comparing each
suspect hair with each other. Although some had come close to being similar to each other like
Suspect A s hair sample color and Suspect C s hair sample color, Suspect A s hair had a light

many resemblances to another, there will always be something different about them. This makes
each hair unique so the match between two samples must be the same

  • 2. Methicillin-Resistant S. Aureus (MRSA) Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of hospital acquired infections that are becoming increasingly difficult to treat because of emerging resistance to all current antibiotics. Infections are created by pathogens, or microbes that create diseases. There are different types of microbes including: bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. Some microbes are beneficial to the human body, however, there are pathogens that are deadly and require antibiotics. Antibiotics are antimicrobials that were developed to destroy microbes. Penicillin, the first commercialized antibiotic, was discovered in 1928 by Alexander Fleming.(Enright, Robinson, Randle, 2002) While it wasn t distributed among the general public until 1945, it was widely used in World War II for surgical and wound infections among the Allied Forces. Methicillin was introduced in 1959 to treat infections caused by penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus. In 1961, there were reports from the United Kingdom of S. aureus isolates that had acquired resistance to methicillin (methicillin resistant S. aureus, MRSA).(Enright, Robinson, Randle, 2002) Most often, MRSA lives and infects the skin. MRSA can also be in different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The CDC has set goals for improving handwashing to prevent the spread of infections. To stop the disease from spreading as a carrier, the CDC also recommends disinfecting all gym equipment before and after use; showering well with soap and water before entering any public saunas, hot tubs, or pools; showering immediately after participating in sports or working out; and showering before any intimate skin to skin contact with another person. • 3. Essay on The Benefits of Hydrogen Cars The Advantages of Hydrogen Cars As you know, gas prices are going up. Nobody likes paying more money for gas and yet nobody is willing to do anything about it. Now that we are at war with the Middle East (the main gasoline providers) the gas prices are going to keep going up. Some people (like foreign ambassadors) say that trade with the Middle East is good for there economy, but I for one don t like being dependant on foreign oil. That is where hydrogen fuel cells come into the picture. Rather than depending on a foreign countries oil, to provide fuel, businesses today should look to hydrogen as an alternative fuel source. The United States is too dependent on foreign oil. If something were to happen, like another war with the Middle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then there is the fact that everybody would have to buy new cars in order for the process to work, most people do not have the money, but the government could always do some kind of fund to get the money for the people to buy the cars. Mechanics would have to go back to school to learn how to work on the new cars, or they could put a small training course out and give it to the mechanics. Finally, the last major problem with hydrogen is the fact that it is more flammable then gasoline, this is only true if the gas is not contained properly. When you think of hydrogen, you think of the blimp the Hindenburg, which was a hydrogen filled blimp, and then it explodes because the gas was not contained properly. I think that all these problems can be fixed. Cars powered by hydrogen get better gas mileage. They can go double the distance or even triple the distance of the car with the best gas mileage on the market. The cars can t go as fast as cars can today, but they can get very close. Toyota is the biggest supporter of hydrogen powered vehicles. They already have working hydrogen cars in other countries on the road. They have many prototypes ready and waiting for the US. Some people (like President Bush) like the idea for hydrogen powered vehicles. He put in $3 billion after 9/11 towards hydrogen powered vehicles. With the president and most ... St. Vincent And The Grenadines Vs Guinea Essay Case 2 5 St. Vincent and the Grenadines vs Guinea Facts: On November the 13th 1997, a St. Vincent s and Grenadine agent filed a case against Guinea concerning the release of Marine Vessel Saiga as well as its crew. The vessel had been taken into custody by the concerned authorities after being suspected to be used for smuggling purposes. During its seizure, the vessel was in the process of refueling both fishing vessels as well as normal vessels that were operating off the coast of Guinea. During the time of its arrest, the vessel was drifting within the Exclusive Economic Zone of Sierra Leone.St. Vincent and Guinea happen to be state parties of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the sea thus making the tribunal to have a jurisdiction in this particular case. Procedure: Issues 1.Was the Saiga in breach of violating customs laws while in the restricted economic zone of Guinea by refueling other vessels in these waters? 2.Is Guinea in infringement of the UN rule, Article 292 for failing to not be in line with the timely discharge of the vessel and crew upon getting the agreed bond? Holding: No Rule: During its seizure by the concerned authorities, the vessel was not in any violation of the existing laws that could link it to smuggling. The vessel was acting as a fishing fuel under the known facts that it was only refueling other vessels in the sea area. • 5. Good By Muse The first song I am deconstructing is the original Feeling Good by Nina Simone. This song was recorded in 1965 when jazz, swing and soul music was very popular amongst American and African American artists. The song is classified as rock influenced by the styles of jazz, swing and soul. At the very beginning of the song, the low alto female voice is heard with no accompanying instruments. The singing style includes the use of melismas and vibrato. When the song reaches the chorus, brass instruments playing a low pitched riff are introduced with the pianoplaying high pitched notes. This is continued throughout the second verse. At the second chorus s, strings are added to the piano part. In the bridge, the singer is improvising over the chords... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This song was recorded in 2001, 36 years after the original was released. Muse is known as an alternative band, but this song s styles include heavy rock and progressive rock. At the start of the song, the singer is singing softly, with the overall texture of the song being quite thin. The voice is accompanied by a soft electronic sound and a soft guitar playing the riff. At around the chorus, the guitars begin to play loudly and the singing style becomes more aggressive. Drums are introduced thickening the texture of the song. These drums, along with the distorted guitars, loud singing style and the thick texture are the heavy rock influences found in the song. These heavy rock influences are found throughout the song. After the chorus, in the second verse, the singing style is changed to an almost electronic voice. The frequent changes of mood, dynamics, styles and tempo and the use of recording techniques are some of the progressive rock influences found in the song. These occur in the second verse of the song. The guitars back off and the texture thins with just the piano and drums playing softly. When the song comes to the second chorus, it returns to the same timbre and dynamics as the first chorus. At the bridge, improvisation by the lead singer is heard with just the bass guitar playing the riff. This decrescendos until there is nothing heard and the song ends. The use ... Food is essential to any living organism, providing energy for our production and nutrients for our protection. Without this fundamental element, life cannot exist. Our lack to produce our own energy, like plants, causes us to become dependent on others for survival. Humans existence is attributed only to the million years of evolution our food source underwent to sustain our survival. With only a 20 year history, genetic engineeringis only a young science with much uncertainly relativity compared to other fields. Much of the elements bioengineering studies and experiments, the DNA genome and sequence, are still unknown to the scientific community. Changes in genes greatly transform the condition, structure, and essence of an organism, giving us an entirely different and unnatural creation. Even when the physical effects are barely noticeable or deemed safe and ethical, these modified creations effects on the environment are impossible to predict and will only emerge when the damage done becomes evident to the human population. Though a large unknown looms over modifying genes, bioengineering industries insist upon dismissing the scare over genetic foods with the vast potential miracle foods can benefit upon human society. Most of the promises made by these corporations are promises of luxury, not necessity, and carry an inherently and dangerous risk. As science continues to understand further the basic element of life, DNA, the danger involved genetically modifying organisms becomes apparent. The beneficial potential genetic engineering brings are attractive, but paradoxically it also brings disastrous potential at a greater degree. The qualities brought forth by these GM foods are not necessary for our survival and only brings forth dangerous consequences to our health, environment, and economy. In order to ... Why should that change because of someone s sexual orientation? I believe most of what our amendments say American citizens should do are not half way near what citizens actually do. U.S News, Senator Jeff Merkley stated in 2015 that According to the Human Rights Campaign, which advocates for greater LGBTrights, 31 states do not have laws that explicitly prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientationor gender identity. I think that is wrong, we are not living in the 1940s we should not be still arguing about whether we should not give equal rights to women or LGBT. We are fighting about towards the LGBT community has equal rights/opportunities and women having equal rights in 2017, you would think we are still in the 1720s. Thorn, executive director of OutServe, said in an interview We have transgender individuals who serve in elite SEAL teams, who are working in a time of war to defend our country, and now you re going to kick them out? . I agree with his anger and his confusion because during Trump s election he made it very clear that he would make the LGBT community feel at peace. • 8. Why School Should Start Later Essay Mesut Barazany once said, Your future depends on our dreams, So go to bed . Sleep is vital for your body, to properly function the next day your body needs rest. When students have to wake up at six in the morning to get ready for school, they are often tired throughout the day. School hours need to be changed to a later time in the day. First, students sometimes get overloaded with homework and may not be able to go to bed until late at night. Also, they may not get the amount of sleep they need which is not healthy. Lastly, they are usually not as focused while they are in class, sometimes even falling asleep during a lesson. Homework in general can be difficult for a student, but when they get multiple assignments from more than one class, it can be overwhelming. Homework alone can take hours on end to finish without adding after school activities like sports or business at home. Studying for exams can be even more stressful and may take even longer than doing homework, making late nights even later. Summary of Week 1 class 1 Introduction to Case Management Summary of Week 1 class 1 Introduction to Case Management To start off our information for the first class one must define Case Management. Case Management is a course of action for a situation involving an individual and the implementation of such a program; specifically, the process by which all health related matters of a case are managed by a health professional. This definition basically states that Case Managementis way for people in a down trot part of life to have a plan of attack which can used to help correct their issues at hand, often this involves at minimum another person or group of people to help the troubled person. A slight background will be given as followed to introduce case management. To begin with the people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Maybe their rich and over protective parents never exposed their kid to the outside world, hence leaving them incapable of dealing with people.) Often people will come to a case manager with multiple issues and require an assortment of different services to meet their needs and be fulfilled. (Woodside, McClam 27) Another principle that one should be aware of is known as continuity of care. There are two parts to this principle, the first one states that from the beginning of time when a client calls the case manager/agency to the very end and beyond the ending of the care by providing a short term line of assistance if necessary. The second part of this principle pretty much states that the case manager maintains a persistent involvement within the client s life in the aspect of keeping a positive connection with the family, significant other, and helping to make sure the established treatment continues to be efficient. Hence checking up and keeping in touch. Just as equality has always been an important desire in this country, case management is no different. (Woodside, McClam 29) Therefore Equal access to services/advocacy is a very important part of case management. Frederick Douglass s Influence On American Society Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey, or better known, Frederick Douglass was born in February 1818 to Harriet Bailey in Talbot County, Maryland. For a long time, Frederick did not know his birthdate or his family lineage and it haunted him till the day he died. Frederick Douglas family lineage reach as far back into the beginnings of America and maybe even further into American prehistory. Douglass was believed to have Native American blood in him. Just from the description of him, his broad forehead, heavy cheekbones, and yellow brown skin (Preston, pg.9) and his childhood master calling him little Indian boy (Preston, pg.9) made a lot of people assume that he was. Douglass once recalled about the time when a stranger on a Hudson River steamer who took me for one of the noble red men of the far West. ...Douglas replied that he was not an Indian but a Negro, he said the man turned away in disgust. (Preston, pg.9) Frederick Douglass was proud that he was a Negro even though he had no problems with Native Americans. Frederick Douglass passion for the abolition of slavery may be seen as arising from his early childhood experiences from his brief stay with his first slave master, Aaron Anthony. Before Living with Anthony, Douglass lived with his grandmother Betsey Bailey. Douglas did not know his maternal mother, Harriet Bailey, because due to her work with Anthony, she was not permitted to care for her own children. Essay on Compare and Contrast Chinese and Japanese Mythology Chinese and Japanese Mythology in Life Classic Chinese and classic Japanese mythology are quite similar, in fact, they have more commonalities than differences. As examples, one can compare and contrast the two mythologies in terms of characters, form and structure, creation myths, and mythology s relevance to life. Animals and dragons also appear repeatedly in Chinese and Japanese mythology. In this paper it will be shown that Chinese and Japanese mythologies are more similar than different. The characters in both Chinese and Japanese myths have similar personalities and reactions. And although Chinese dragons are powerful fighters, they choose not to fight. Chinese mythology has several distinctive qualities, one of the most individual is the fact that Chinese myths are very concise: a single myth might only be one page long, but tells a story that could take up two or more pages. Japanese myths, on the other hand, are more story like in their structure, and they are told simply. In fact, the Japanese myths are told so simply and this author believes that they can be understood by children. Also Japanese myths have more of a definite beginning, middle, and end. Chinese creation myth In the beginning, the universe was a black egg where heaven and earth were mixed together, and in this egg was contained Pangu. He felt suffocated, so he cracked the egg with a broadax, and the light, clear part of the egg floated up to form Heaven while the cold, heavy part stayed down and formed Earth. Pangu stood in the middle, and he and the egg s two parts grew and grew until he was nine million li in height. • 13. The Sixties And The End Of Collapsing In terms of the amount of political upheaval that took place, the 1960s is probably the most fascinating decade post World War II to study historically. To understand how the country was almost at the brink of collapsing, one must survey one of the prominent political actors during the decade: the student movement. According to William H. Chafe in The Unfinished Journey, the student movement emerged from the feeling that President John F. Kennedys insistent call for the young to fulfill America s unfulfilled promises was a mandate for action. Yet, the conclusions made about the student movement in the 1960s are still contested today. While Chafe s use of the Port Huron Statement is more so a summary of the attitudes of the student movement, Steigerwald offers a critique of the student movement s ambitions. Steigerwald does not deny that the Port Huron Statement was bold, stating that its critiques of U.S. Cold Warforeign policy were both realistic and prescient and that the ideals presented in the statement were meant as an antidote to the ills of bureaucratized society. Personal fulfillment was to be realized through civic participation . However, Steigerwald argues that the deepest flaw of the student movement was that it could encourage mere rebelliousness masquerading as radicalism, a phony radicalism that saw politics as a vehicle for exhibitionism and self assertion rather than change . Steigerwald s critique questions whether the student movement actually aimed to challenge the apparent status quo of the American political landscape. The temples within its walls were used to worship Greek gods like Athena and Poseidon. Rising over three hundred feet above the city of Athens, it can clearly be noticed why it is called The Acropolis , which means top of the city . It isn t the only acropolis in Greece, but it was noticeable more than the others because of its almost flawless planning in where each building is placed. The winding rocky path that led up to the Acropolis was surrounded by numerous small shrines, including one to the god Pan, who had appeared to the runner Phidippides before the battle of Marathon. At its top was the Propylaia, an entryway and faГ§ade that formed the gateway to the Acropolis. Once inside the Sacred Precinct you d notice the most fabulous building in there, The Parthenon . The Parthenon was started in 447 BC, but they couldn t finish it so they completed it some fifteen years later. Without elements such as the setting or the main objects in a book a story has no allure. A story without any key objects would be like Texas Chainsaw Massacre without any chainsaws. Likewise a story without a setting would be like walking through an art gallery without any art. в є These elements are essential whether writing about science fiction, or writing about love, without them there is no real rhyme or reason to the story. The haunted forest, Jon thought ruefully, The drowned forest, more like it (Martin 354). The way Jon expresses the weather around him is crucial to explaining the setting. Not only does he tell us what the place is known for he also tells us that this place has a very unique appearance. The haunted forest gives us the illusion of dark shadows, gloomy atmosphere, and tall trees with gnarled vines. All of these things can be explained by the one phrase. In addition to gloomy atmosphere there is his statement about how it should be called the drowned forest which indicates that there is probably lots of water and it is possibly raining very heavily making a dreary and gloomy place even more so. Transformational Leadership and Transactional Theories The domain of leadership theory and research has had many conceptualizations proposed over the last few years (Avolio Bass, 2003). These conceptualizations seem to have generated recent interest in the distinction among transformational, transactional, and laissez faire leadership research (Bass, 1990). Yukl (1998) noted that transformational leaders get followers to do as they desire by transforming them or changing the followers themselves. According to Barlow, Jordan, and Hendrix (2003), a transformational leader generates an image that awakens trust from subordinates and develops relationships that enable subordinates to move toward goal attainment using their knowledge, skills, and material resources to accomplish that end. Unlike transformational leaders, transactional leaders pursue a cost benefit exchange approach that does not change subordinates and uses portion or organizational resources to meet subordinates needs in return for contracted needs rendered by the subordinates (Bass, 1990). Although these forms might appear diametrically opposed, most theorists agree with Bass that they are not mutually exclusive. While transformational, transactional, and passive/avoidant leadership are conceptually distinct, the same individuals on a continuum might display these leadership behaviors by different amounts and different intensities (Bass Avolio,

The Extent Of Personal Responsibility The Extent of Personal Responsibility Taking place in two hemispheres from one another, the plot to Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner and Phillip Roth s Nemesis have few common elements to observe if one were to look strictly at the plot. However, looking deeper reveals that both novels have startlingly similar elements and themes; ranging from fear, to a rejection of god. The most significant theme in both of these novels is the concept of personal responsibility a concept that defines Amir and Bucky and drives the way they act, in addition to influencing the plot of each novel. Starting with protagonist Amir in Kite Runner, the pivotal point of responsibility is first introduced when Hassan is raped by Assef following the conclusion of the kite runner tournament that Amir won. This moment is the single most significant moment in the entire novel: I stopped watching, turned away from the alley (67). This quote establishes the theme of personal responsibility, and this very event would go on to define Amir throughout the entirety of the novel, as Amir would go on to decades later to state: We had both betrayed the people who would have given their lives for us (197). Another point is established with this, that being the question of how far claiming responsibility go before being considered unreasonable? The State of Utopia has determined to develop a Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) that incorporates all of the key state governmental functions. The Adjutant General of Utopia has ordered that the Joint Staff produce a COOP that relocates the affected units to an alternate site, accounts for and protects all personnel and equipment, and maintains mission command capabilities. We must maintain the ability to quickly generate ready forces to safeguard Utopia and protect the nation while adding value to our communities. The National Guard of Utopia is made up of approximately 2,000 Army NG (ARNG) members, 1,500 Air NG (ANG) members, and 150 state employees spread across 24 different campuses statewide. The National Guard also services approximately 4,500 veterans throughout the state. The problem. The National Guard has a Pandemic Influenza (PI) Continuity of Operations Plan, but it does not have a COOP plan that covers an all hazard approach. Even though there is a PI COOP, it was written in 2009 and at best has been minimally exercised which included one TTX and a drill on a small portion of the entire plan. The Neo Aristotelian approach consists of five canons which are invention, organization, style, memory and delivery. First I will start off with Invention. According to Foss the critic s concern in applying the canon of invention is with the speaker s major ideas, line of argument, or content (29). Invention is divided into two categories: external proofs and internal proofs. External proofs include sources used by the author but does not create, including testimony of eyewitnesses (Foss 29). I will focus on the internal proofs of this speech, which are logos or logical argument; ethos, the appeal of the speaker s character and pathos, emotional appeal. In the speech of The Challenger Disaster Reagan does not necessarily present an argument, but rather a speech to console and find meaning. He starts the speech by recognizing the terrible accident that happened nineteen years ago and relates it to The Challenger disaster. Their current policies allow immigration officials to fine illegal immigrants anywhere between €5,000 10,000 and detain them for up to 6 months. What is Confict Transformation Conflict transformation explains that rather then getting rid of the conflict (expression or disagreement), it seeks to work at the problem from the inside out (Lederach, 1995). In this conflict stated above the root of the conflict was when the customer did not retain her information and software due to the suggestion given of performing a factory reset her computer. This problem could have been resolved when the customer first came in the store and inquired about this issue. The sale representative could/should have told the customer to backup her data and then suggested a reset, even better the salesrepresentative could have done it for the customer. In saying this HP should have also informed the customer that such things can occur when factory resetting a device. Conflict Transformation is also reliant on a moral decision that are made on the spot and understanding that not all conflicts are going to be all right and that faith may played a major role in the end result (Lederach, 1995). We can see that the first impression that the customer received and was directed to HP was an incorrect moral decision that was made on the spot. Due to this decision it lead to frustration and a lengthy process to resolve for all parties. This gave the customer a wrong impression of what both companies are like and may never shop with us again. [This is too short to be a paragraph on its own.] Violence almost defines Bonnie and Clyde. It runs like a silver thread through the entire film. Graphic violence is today a rather common and somewhat natural characteristic of modern cinema, but before Bonnie and Clyde, it certainly was not. Arthur Penn introduced it in 1967. Before Bonnie and Clyde violence in film was hinted at or just implied through various sorts of acting techniques. Arthur Penn decided to show the audience the real, brutal and raw side to violence, using brilliant camerawork but more importantly, top notch special effects and masterful visual skills. In Bonnie and Clyde the violence never feels fake, but terrifyingly real. Take for example the first graphic scene of the film, in which Clyde shoots a store owner s face clean off, as he tries jump aboard the robbers getaway car. The man s head basically explodes, splattering blood and pieces of brain all over the car window, and Penn shows us, the audience, this (although not in a Tarantinto splasher like way, but nevertheless) in a quite unromantic but very powerful and dramatic way. The ancient Egyptians lived and farmed along the Nile, using the soil to produce food for themselves and their animals. Document A, a map of Egyptaround 1500 BCE, was founded by multiple sources and was created in order to illustrate how the placement of the river was beneficial to the success of cities across Egypt. The creators of this map had no bias because the structure of the document is strictly factual. The map demonstrates the areas that are gray represent the fertile NileValley. The Nile Valley is spread across lower and upper Egypt, from cities such as Buto to Abu Simbel. It is an important document because it clarifies how the river was able to have a strong influence on the citizens of Egypt. This indicates that there was a vast number of people that had to depend on the Nile as a freshwater source, even for tasks included in their daily life. Document B, a chart of The Nile River Flood Cycle, written by Katherine Hinds was written to explain how the different seasons of Egypt were affected by the river s flood cycle. Hinds view on the river s flood cycle may be influenced by the fact that she will unintentionally compare ancient Egypt s different seasons to modern times, however, this bias is not evident in the text. The seasons mentioned were Akhet, the flood season, Peret, the planting and growing season, and Shemu, the harvest season. Akhet took place in mid June to mid October, and in these months the fields were subjected to flooding, due to the surrounding river, which meant farmers were provided with more labor such as canal repair. Peret came to pass in mid October to mid February where enough time has passed for the water to subside and supply irrigation canals, in which crops were planted and sustained until Shemu, which took place until the cycle resumed its place in Akhet, where they were then harvested and sold in the market. The document s intent was to express how the different seasons were useful to everyday life long ago. It is significant because it shows how people were employed and citizens were provided with ... • 41. Violence, Power, and Goals in the Hebrew Bible and The... Violence is a means to an end. Violence is not something most humans resort to for enjoyment. Violence is, however, the right thing to be done in certain situations. With violence, comes great power. Power and violence walk together, hand in hand. When violence is exhibited, the power of the individual is shown to those around him. In both the Hebrew Bible and The Iliad, violence is depicted as a mode to reach goals. The reason for this is that violence allows an individual or a deity to flaunt their powers, while they simultaneously achieve their personal and communal ambitions. Just like how mortals have their own goals, deities also have an agenda. God, in the Hebrew Bible, has only two goals: to have humans obey Him blindly and to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sacrifices are, in nature, very violent. Innocent blood is spilled to please the vengeful God. In Exodus 12, the Lord struck down all the first born in the land of Egypt, from the first born of Pharaoh who sat on the throne the first born of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the first born of the cattle (Exodus 12:29). God did all that just because the Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let the Israelites leave his country. The immense sacrifice of the first borns of man and beast was an act of violence that led the exodus of the Israelites. The mass murder of the Egyptian people and livestock also proves to the Pharaoh the great power of God, a power that would have remained unseen if not for the plagues and the executions. For after the Pharaoh witnessed the death of at least one man or one beast in each Egyptian s household, he said, Up, depart from among my people...Go, worship the Lord as you said (Exodus 12:31). With this final act of violence, God helped reach the Israelites communal goal: to leave the oppressive Egypt and to enter the liberal Promise Land of Canaan. Because humans were created in God s image, it makes perfect sense that humans will use violence as a way to achieve their own goals, just like what God does. In the early 1900, steps were taken to follow a system similar to the DSM that is currently used today. The DSM I was first published in 1952 by the American Psychiatric Association, with the DSM II being released in 1968 as an amendment of the original (Pomerantz, 2014). While the earlier editions of the DSM were similar to each other, they were very different from the other editions later released (Lilienfeld Landfield, 2008). There were three very broad categories in the earlier editions: neuroses which would include mood disorders such as major depression and anxiety disorders; psychoses which would include disorders like schizophrenia; and character disorders which are known today as personality disorders (Blashfield, Flanagan, Raley, 2010).... Almost everyone can remember some aspect of his or her childhood experiences, pleasant and unpleasant alike. Theodore Roethke s poem My Papa s Waltz suggests even further that this concept could be true. The dance described in this poem illustrates an interaction between father and child that contains more than the expected joyous, loving attitude between the two characters. Roethke s tone in this work exhibits the blended, yet powerful emotions that he, as a grown man, feels when looking back on this childhood experience. The author somewhat implicates feelings of resentment fused with a loving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This stanza also provides the reader with the feeling of how aggressive this dance may be. Roethke is apparently referring to his father s belt buckle in the last line of the third stanza. During an aggressive act such as this, a small child would experience pain from such a man s belt buckle scraping across his ear in this fashion, yet the child refrains from any type of resistance. Perhaps this is caused by the child s fear that his father will become angry, so the child simply endures the pain and tries to enjoy the moment, for he may also feel love and attention that he may not receive regularly from his father. Bridges 3 John J. McKenna offers us further suggestions about the feelings suggested in this poem. In McKenna s article, two of the holograph manuscripts to My Papa s Waltz are discussed. McKenna implies that the changes made between these manuscripts are further evidence that this poem shows mixed emotions through the tone that Roethke utilizes. These holograph manuscripts are labeled MS A and MS B at the University of Washington where they are contained in the archives. The first of these changes discussed in McKenna s article is the gender of the child in the poem. He discusses how Roethke seemed to argue with himself about what the sex of the child should be, but finally chooses male for a few different reasons. The young man was discouraged because he has been trying for years to gain weight and muscle, but it just was not enough. He remembered a friend telling him about what anabolic steroids had done for him and decided to try it, he would later regret that decision. Anabolic steroids are drugs that reciprocate certain natural hormones in the body such as the male hormone testosterone, which can improve endurance and performance and stimulate muscle growth. Even though anabolic steroids may provide the body image and results some adolescents want, they can be harmful to the adolescent body and mind, it s not fair to those who gained weight and muscle naturally because they may have a smaller chance of recognition, and there are safer alternatives that can assist in gaining weight and muscle. • 52. The Storm Eased The storm eased. Clouds parted and allowed the golden rays of a Camelotian sunset to fill the room. Taran and Veerah separated, but held hands, patiently waiting for Alis to check over their babies. Meanwhile, Siti, Cait, and Asla offered hugs, kisses, and congratulations, then wandered out to tell the men the good news. Your babies are lovely, said Alis, carrying over the first bundled baby and resting the child against Veerah s chest. This is your son. I ll bring over your daughter for Taran. Gods, Taran had never experienced such excitement in his whole life. His blood burned with wanting to hold his children, to run down the castle corridors and show them off, all while bragging about how wonderful and beautiful his wife was, how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This tiny being had come into Taran s life perhaps a half hour ago, and he could never imagine being parted from her. As Alis offered more instruction, Taran and Veerah swapped babies. Now he held his son, Leo, who looked just like his sister, except with slightly less roundness to his cheeks. Leo let out a grunt and opened his eyes. They were blue, Taran s deep blue, and Taran did not bother to check his tears of love. Did you hear all that? asked Alis, a soft smile on her face. Not a word, Taran confessed. Veerah chuckled. Don t worry, Alis. I ll relay anything he needs to know. I appreciate your knowledge about twins, as I have little. I ve only delivered one other set of twins, so much I what I know is anecdotal... The women kept chatting, and Taran shifted Leo into his left arm, then motioned for Veerah to hand over their daughter. He held both his children, gazing at their beautiful faces, relishing in the warm afterglow of new fatherhood. Taran, cradling his babies, was at peace, and would remain so as long as his children stayed happy and healthy. And he would do everything in his power to see that happened. XXXX Tell us again how you cursed at Taran during the delivery, Veerah, said Bili, slapping his thigh and laughing. He, the rest of the men, the women, Taran, Ilene, and Llacheu sat on the floor in the men s chamber in a circle. Veerah sat among them, on a cushion, cradling Leon while Taran held Caylah. Night had fallen, and Veerah ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Evidence Hair Investigation Analysis: 3 different samples of hair was extracted from 3 suspects of the murder and were compared to a hair left at the crime scene of Mr Mowder (Evidence Hair). The Evidence Hair had a blonde color to it with a slight shade of light brown. It s dimension was thin and had no presence of medulla. Suspect A s hair sample was also blonde with slight shades of light brown. It s width was thin with no presence of medulla. Suspect B s hair was Dark Brown with a shading of light brown. The hair was thick and had the presence of medulla. Suspect C s hair was Blonde like Suspect A s but had a shading of light grey. It was also thin like suspect s A and had no presence of medulla. Among the suspect s, suspect A and suspect C had the most resemblance to the evidence hair. Suspect B had dark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suspect C had a shading of light grey and was also thin. On the other hand, Suspect A s hair had the similar light brown shading with similar thickness. During the experiment, a possible source of error occurred when tweezers, used for handling the hair samples, were switched and possibly contaminated the hairs. The hairs collected could had been switched from its rightful evidence bag, altering the results. Conclusion: If each person s hair has different color and width examined on a microscope then the match found between the suspect;s hair and crime scene hair must be the same person because each person s hair has different set of characteristics. This hypothesis had been accepted, after comparing each suspect hair with each other. Although some had come close to being similar to each other like Suspect A s hair sample color and Suspect C s hair sample color, Suspect A s hair had a light shade of brown while Suspect C s hair had a light shade of grey. Even when a person s hair bears many resemblances to another, there will always be something different about them. This makes each hair unique so the match between two samples must be the same ...
