Calcium Carbonate taken from the soft, snow-white calcareous substance found between the outer and inner harder shell of the oyster. Prepared by Trituration method, following Hahnemann’s Homoeopathic Proving.
Chief remedy of the calcium compounds and is one of the greatest of Hahnemann’s genius. This great anti-psoric remedy is a constitutional remedy par excellence. It is one of the great polychrest remedies and ranks with Sulphur and Lycopodium at the head of the anti-psorics.

3. PREPARATIONS:
PART USED:
TRITURATION OF THE MIDDLE LAYER OF OYSTER SHELLS
Hahnemann first proved Calc. acet.
His proving of Calc. carb. appears in Vol. II of his Chronic Diseases.
He says :
" Take a clean oyster shell, somewhat thick ;
of soft snow-white calcarean substance which is found
between the internal and external hard shell,
take one grain, which is then to be triturated and
dynamized in the usual manner.”
4. CALCIUM OCCURRENCE :
IN NATURE:
DOES NOT EXIST FREELY
OCCURS MOSTLY IN SOIL SYSTEMS AS LIMESTONE (CACO3),
GYPSUM (CASO4*2H2O) & FLUORITE (CAF2) .
IN THE BODY:
THE MOST ABUNDANT MINERAL - AVERAGE ADULT BODY
CONTAINS APP. 1 KG
99 % IN THE SKELETON (BONES CAN SERVE AS LARGE RESERVOIRS)
0.1 % IN THE EXTRA CELLULAR FLUID
1 % IN THE CELLS

MILK AND MILK PRODUCTS ARE MAIN SOURCE
OF CALCIUM.
FISH, VEGETABLE, FRUITS, CEREALS (RAGI RICH IN
CALCIUM) AND DRINKING WATER ARE OTHER
SOURCES.
GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES ARE THE CHEAPEST
NATURAL SOURCE OF CALCIUM BUT THE BIO
AVAILABILITY OF CALCIUM IS POOR.
RECOMMENDED IN TAKE OF CALCIUM
(ADULT) – 400 –500 MG / DAY.

THE OSSEOUS AND GLANDULAR SYSTEMS.
11. “I know who I am but
now I need safety and security”
CALCAREA IS TO FIND SECURITY –VERY MUCH DEPENDENT
In the case of the slightest external threat will resort back to
their support.
Need support in difficult situations,
will avoid any risks which will involve their security.

CALCAREA GROWS AND CURES POLYPI.
CALCAREA BABIES ARE ALWAYS MORE OR LESS WORMY.”
o Kent says that infants fed with lime water in the milk soon become lime
subjects: unable to take lime from their natural food, they grow fat and
flabby.
CONSTANTINE HERING :
" TARDY DEVELOPMENT OF THE BONY TISSUES WITH
LYMPHATIC ENLARGEMENTS.

distinct, yet they merge into one another.
There is the teething picture
The picture of rickets
The picture of anaemia
The picture of tuberculosis
The picture of mental deficiency, and decay.

“Bracelets of fat begin to surround the wrists and ankles,
the rickety rosary may be felt”
3. ANAEMIA: “Such weakness ! such weariness !
such breathlessness ! such palpitation ! “

cough, with sweetish expectoration and spitting of blood”
5. MENTAL DEFICIENCY:
“Can’t help it ! She sits—sits and fidgets with small things
bends pins by the hour”
16. PORTRAITS OF HOMOEOPATHIC MEDICINES
-CATHERINE R. COULTER
CALCAREA carbonica is the potentized carbonate of lime, taken
from the middle layer of the oyster shell.
FIRST, there is the animal itself-cold, pale, moist, limp, inactive.
(OYSTER)
SECOND, there is the shell thick, impenetrable, fixed to a rock,
protecting the completely defenseless creature within. (SHELL)
THIRD, within this otherwise undistinguished creature there
grows a pearl of polished and delicate beauty, born through
steady concretion around an irritating grain of sand. (PEARL)
Keeping in mind these three images: THE OYSTER ITSELF, THE
SHELL, AND THE PEARL, they relate to the Calcarea individual.
17. P
M
BAILEY
The stranger may be treated with some caution but once he has demonstrated his
good intentions, he is allowed into the oyster’s shell to enjoy the homeliness and
comfort of his interior.
Present more in countryside where it is still possible to live simpler life.
Calcareas are good at remembering the little things which shows that they care. Such
as, birthday present, a bunch of flower, a cup of tea etc.
Family is very important to calcarea, invite her ageing mother or move in with her
family as she is too frail to look after herself. When away from home they tend to feel
homesick, they are the ones who enjoy family holidays fully.
When upset they react irrationally but they tend to come back to their senses pretty
quickly. Eg, She may cry when her husband forgets their anniversary and in sadness
she may burn dinner but she’ll quickly come back to her senses and apologise.
Calcarea tends to fear the challenges that would result from being successful esp.
academically and professionally.
(Because she feels she won’t be able to cope with the increase in demand upon her as
regards time and skill)
