Christopher Clombus Is Not A Hero Essay
Introduction
In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. That s the one date everyone remembers, the date in
virtually every school child s history textbook. But, they leave out pretty much everything about
Columbus and his exploration of the New World. It s the part many people have yet to learn
about. For years, Columbus has been presented to us as a hero. In 1934, President Roosevelt even
gave Columbus his own holiday. To this day, we celebrate his discovery of America. What is found
in history textbooks now, have seemed to show another side of Christopher Columbus, a side that
they wouldn t dare teach in elementary school. It s the rest of Columbus tale of discovery . This
paper will show you that Christopher Columbus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Indians taught them how to grow food and use the land to survive. Columbus and his men
would trade a lot with the Indians and they all lived happily ever after. That s pretty much where
our textbook stopped. I have never learned anything else about Columbus until now. There is so
much that my third grade teacher left out and didn t explain.
REASONS FOR HIM NOT BEEN A HERO Columbus gets a lot of credit for discovering land
that already had people living on it, a land that has already been encountered by other people
way before Columbus was even born. In 70,000 to 12,000 B.C. Siberia explorers sailed to
Alaska. In 10,000 600 B.C., Siberians also went to Canada and the state we now call New
Mexico. A little more recently the Vikings in 1000 1350 came from Greenland and Iceland. They
traveled to Labrado, Baffin Land, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Cod and further south.
Around 1311 and 1460 explorers from West Africa came across to Haiti, Panama, and Brazil
(Loewen 48). These were only a few of the many encounters of the Americas. A result of these
explorations was the establishment of Indian villages and the life they began to lead.
The fact that Columbus didn t actually discover America isn t the idea that is most disturbing when
considering misleading history that children are taught. It is the information that was kept from us
while younger that now should be revealed, since we are at the age that we can comprehend and

Private Companies are companies that are either owned by non governmental organizations or by
a relatively small number of shareholders or company members which does not offer or trade its
company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market exchanges, but rather the
company s stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately (Google).
Private companies are very similar to independent companies; the only real difference is that private
companies can choose their shareholders. Private companies don t need to meet the strict exchange
commission requirements that public companies have to, like having to give a certain percentage
of their income to the government.
Independent companies are companies which work on their own; they can make decision on their
own and are free of influence by government or corporate interests. Independent companies are
different to subsidiaries as Independent companies are not owned by any conglomerate. An
advantage of an independent company is that all the money the company makes is its own profit
instead of being shared with other companies. A disadvantage of an independent media company is
that they often find it difficult to survive against competition from bigger companies that are owned
by conglomerates as they are better known, which reduces their source of income resulting in
bankruptcy.
Although if an independent media company is

Mof Synthesis Lab
Link to Previous Experiments
Last semester I synthesized a powder, that based on IR, I believe to be the HKUST 1 MOF. I
removed much of the DMSO and have identified key peaks. Despite having cleaned the MOF
several times with ethanol and by heating out the DMSO solvent, the spectra showed there are
many impurities in it. In order to try to further validate the MOF synthetic method, I attempted a
kinetics experiment that would have tracked the disappearance of the BTC precursor.
Last Synthesis
In the last run where I successfully produced a powder, 0.58 g (2.8 mmol) BTC and 1.2 g (5.1
mmol) Cu(NO3) В· 3 H2O were mixed together at room temperature in 4.5 mL of DMSO. The
solids are not easily dissolved so it takes mild heating and about 30 minutes of stirring. I raised the
temperature up to 100В°C and allowed to remain as constant as possible while the solvent
evaporated. The entire time it was impossible to see any precipitate because the solution was
green. The only way I was able to tell the MOF precipitated out was when the stir bar slowed
down and the solution got darker. The solid formed was clumpy. I broke it up with a spatula and
filtered it with ethanol several times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I knew that I would get scattering on the RedTide and the MOF is not formed if the solution is
not heterogeneous so I allowed them to mix under mild heat. This took 65 minutes. Once the
solution was fully mixed, I turned up the heat and maintained at 100 В°C. I took aliquots at 0, 5,
10, 30, and 45 minutes. At that point I had used up all the solvent. I observed no precipitate in
the flask. This is most likely since I was forcefully removing the solvent and not letting it
evaporate. As I took each aliquot out and placed it in a test tube, I covered it. However, as it
cooled, a white precipitate (most likely the BTC) started to form at the

No One Factor Was Directly Responsible For The French...
No one factor was directly responsible for the French Revolution. Years of feudal oppression and
fiscal mismanagement contributed to a French society that was ripe for revolt. The economical
downturn may have been the kickstarter that began the revolution as the taxes rose higher and
outrage at the crown heightened. The economy began to destabilise in the late 1700s, and the king
decided to bring in financial advisers to look at the weakened French treasurey. Each adviser gave
the king the same warning that something had to be done and radical changes had to be made, but
each were, in their turn, kicked out. After the financial crisis began to effect Francemore harshly,
the king finally decided that something had to be done, and so he appointed a new controller
general of finance, Charles de Calonne in 1783. Calonne suggested many ways to get France out of
the spiral, but most balanced on the nobility paying taxes as well as the French public. He pleaded
with them at the National Assembly, but to no avail. Thus, financial ruin became imminent.
The Jacobins, led by Robespierre who wanted the king out of the picture entirely where the radicals

to the rift in the assembly, which caused the Girondins to lose power.

Essay Comparing The River And The Crossover
The River and The Crossover both had important lessons in them. THey had similar and different
points in what they were saying. The takeaway I liked the most from both of these writings was
there is always room for improvement. You should never be satisfied with what you have done.
You want to be remembered for what you do, not for helping someone else live their dream. These
themes were very obvious to me.
Josh wasn t satisfied in what he done in the game before or in practice earlier, he wanted to get

Don t Fear Change Essay examples
What are you afraid of? Many people are afraid of many things such as death, heights, bugs, or
public speaking; but the fear of change ranks high in the list of things that trigger anxiety
(Radwan). Is there a reasonable answer why people neglect change nowadays? In fact, there is
more than one answer to this question. Change has become such an important aspect of our
everyday life that it is impossible to ignore. When it comes to the idea of change, most people will
readily agree that some individuals try their hardest to avoid change. The reason behind this known
theory is that those individuals don t fearchange; they fear being changed (Rabadam). In the end,
change is something that drives them away from wanting to experience other... Show more content

In fact, the main reason to fear failure is how we imagine how others will view us when we fail.
For example, if an individual keeps doing the same thing over and over, then the results will never
change. As Albert Einstein stated, a person, who never made a mistake, never tried anything new
(Brenner). Failure is not the enemy, but a life changing experience. It is a human experience,
and it prepares the way for us to grow and transform our lives. Mistakes are essential to the
development of life, just as change is. Nevertheless, change is said to prepare us for life and
without change, life would persistently be the same. Admittedly, childhood experiences affect
your adulthood. For instance, overprotective parents and parents who spoil their children are
those who indirectly teach them to be afraid to change. In the same way, over protection can
cause the children to be unready for the real world. When the kids do get out into the real world,
they don t know how to handle it. The individual will be so used to what they knew when
growing up that that is all they will expect. That same individual will not follow the pattern of
change. A person that doesn t follow the pattern of change will most likely fear change itself.
Furthermore, another reason people fear change is because they fear the past might replicate itself
(Radwan). This reason links to the fear of failure in a way. As an illustration, a woman who

Character Analysis Of Gary O s Seventh Grade By Gary Soto
Even though Victor, a 7th grader from the story of Seventh Grade by Gary Soto, is trying to find
his way socially, academically and personally, he is motivated to get his girl but in doing this he
matures and develops. On the first day of seventh grade, Victor s personality is sheepish and shy.
When he was in his math room for his second period, he sat in the back because math was at his
weakest subject. On Victor s way to math class the narrator says After English, Victor had math,
his weakest subject. He sat in the back by the window, hoping that he would not be called on.
Victor understood most of the problems, but some of the stuff looked like the teacher made it
up as she went along. It was confusing, like the inside of a watch. (Soto 4). This illustrates that
Victor is not very good at math and does not want to try harder in math. It is important to notice
that he has not been able to grasp the knowledge of this class and is not willing to catch up. The
moment Victor develops is when Teresa asks if he can tutor her he this sparks that he knew he
did not fail and impressed her in French class. The teacher beamed and said, TrГЁs Bien. Parlez

else in French. The room grew silent. Victor felt all eyes staring at him. He tried to bluff his way

The Royal Forest And Bird Protection Society Essay
Introduction
New Zealanders take their environment very seriously. From their native birds (Kiwi, Takahe) to
their habitats (Marine, Forests). Non profit organisations have been trying for years with the
government and the community, to preserve and return the New Zealand environment to what it
was before it was touched. Before man or mammal was introduced to New Zealand, it was a haven
for birds and reptiles with no mammal predators. Now man and mammal have driven natives to
almost extinction. It is important that the government, community and local groups work together
to preserve the environment. In this report we will look at the different organisations in New
Zealand that look after the environment, the cultural influences that impact on these organisations.
We will then address the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society and what they do and what they
have done. Then we will look at why it s important that the community is involved in conservation
management.
What is a Non Profit Organisation in New Zealand and what Cultural Influences do they have?
What is a non profit organisation?
A non profit organisation is defined by five different standards.
1) Private this means that it is separate from the government institutionally.
2) Voluntary this means that the organisation must have a degree of voluntary participation. This
can be in either operation or management.
3) Non Profit distributing Not making a profit for their owners but rather putting the funds

dominating force. The battle that would become the last offensive operation for the Waffen SS
(Armed Squadron) it would be known as Operation Nordwind (Unternehmen Nordwind) (Chaisson,
2017). There were two offensive operations that were planned to occur almost simultaneously in the
French Alsace Lorraine territory. Operation Nordwind was not the only relative operation planned
to fight off the Allied force from entering Germanythru France. Operation Baseplate (Unternehmen
Bodenplatte) was the Germans aerial offensive operation designed to weaken allied forces in
northwestern Europe ( Ardennes Alsace, 2003). Ultimately, the second operation greatly depended
on the successful outcome of Operation Nordwind. They were both planned by the Chancellor of
Germany (Adolf Hitler) and his Commander in Chief West Field Marshal (Gerd von Rundstedt) in
the winter of 1944 ( Ardennes Alsace, 2003). Furthermore, as with... Show more content on

Similarities Between Stand By Me And Looking For Alibrandi
Stand By Me, a 1986 film directed by Rob Reiner, and Looking for Alibrandi, a 1992 novel by
Melina Marchetta, are two texts designed to inspire teenagers and young adults through
entertaining and relatable life happenings of their main protagonists. The two texts share a
similarity in that both protagonists deal with challenges, uncertainties and insecurities. However,
these topics vary in such ways that the stories contrast greatly and potentially appeal to different
audiences. Both the 12 year old Gordie of Stand by Me and senior student Josephine of Looking

Gordie s major insecurity is his sensitivity and his intelligence. At the height of his brother s
death, Gordie is well known for getting upset easily, or trailing off into thought about what he
could do to make his parents love him. He is also afraid to be intelligent, as the previous
paragraphs have highlighted. Gordie s friends are not as intelligent as him, and in turn he is
very reserved as a way of not expressing his intellect. To contrast, Josie has no issues expressing
her intellect. She is quite happy to tell people when they are in the wrong, and has no concerns
with being brutally honest. This is potentially in lieu of her upbringing and Italian heritage.
However, Josie is very insecure about her heritage. Throughout the novel she refers to herself as
an illegitimate Italian and is insecure about the expectations that she has to live up to. Josie is
constantly anxious about the Italian community and how much they will talk, talk, talk if she is
not normal enough . There are times she falls to her insecurity and gives into peer pressure such
as wagging the school walkathon, but her insecurities disappear as she learns from her mistakes
and realises that following rules is easier. With guidance from her immediate family, she eventually

The Personality Characteristics Of Personality
The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that
influence a person s everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and
cognitive processes causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person s
characteristics are unique and come together to create an individual personal identity (Burger,
2011). Therefore a personality is subjective to each individual person, it is these unique
characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and
weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is seen by others (D. Schultz and P.
Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these characteristics are derived
from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will has many relevant
explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice over how their
aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that a person
can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea of a
pre determined personality that is shaped by biology and life events, called determinism (Skinner,
1957). Determinism is championed by Sigmund Freud in his psychodynamic theory (Freud, 1912),
although it will not be the focus of this essay, despite Freud s theories constituting as part of the
main crux of the latter part. In order to address the question

listed that the universe, and human society came about as a result of the sacrificeof Purusha (4).
According to Hymn to Purusha, Purusha has many heads, hands and feet. Yet, Purusha is Godof

Gods sacrificed Purusha to create Heaven and the earth, and everything in the heaven and on the

created to sacrifice Purusha by Gods to create the universe and humans which is not believable in
the reality. When we see Purusha (male) was one of the sacrificial product made by Gods, Gods
destroyed again Purusha to create heaven and the earth. So, first Gods made Purusha, and they

The excess of carbon in the atmosphere is the cause of global climate change. To reverse global
warming we must balance the carbon cycle by removing carbon from the atmosphere and

climate change would still continue through modern agriculture. The key to reversing global

Endangerment of African Elephants
The official title of the world s largest land dwelling animal belongs to the elephant, more
specifically, the African elephant. Elephants also are some of the most deadly animals, which
therefore increase the danger of human and elephant interactions. The more human interactions
occur, the more deaths result, whether it is the elephantor the human who dies. These animals,
surprisingly, are socially apt; their trunk is used for more than just eating and drinking it is used
for socializing. They are complex animals who live in large familial herds females stay with their
family throughout their entire lives while males only stay for approximately fifteen years (Elephant
Protection, 1). Elephantspossess a great memory and only forget what they learn occasionally and
rarely, giving way to the an elephant never forgets saying (Maloiy, 178c). Despite how many
people use the beloved saying, elephants may not be around much longer due to the shortened life
span and increased mortality rates. Due to their incisor teeth, tusks, being extremely expensive and
profitable, they are being murdered for the wealth they carry. This, coupled with the life span
shortening because of malicious treatments and brutal practices reduces the life span of the African
elephant from 56 to 16 years and the Asian elephantfrom 42 to 19 years (Elephant Protection, 1).

Sweet Home is the location in which slavery occurs; therefore, marking it as a site of trauma that
inhabits the memories of Sethe and Paul D. As Jesser mentions, Sweet Home is the reference point
through which Sethe makes her decisions about the future. It is also the place that they belonged to
and that belonged to them. For Denver, it is a site of exclusion. She challenges their attachments to
each and to the past (Jesser 329). While Sweet Homewas once considered a place of nice slavery,
it now houses the memories of trauma for those who witnessed and experienced it. For Denver,
who has no actual memories of slavery for herself, she is still affected by slavery because it

Abstract
The practice that assist a therapist in determining a client diagnosis and the proper treatment plan

Roland had a very close relationship with his step father, but his step father dies when Roland was
16 years old leaving a great emptiness and sense of being alone inside.
Although Rolnad s mother displayed love and affection to Roland, her parenting style left Roland
with no sense of consequence to his action. Roland believes that nobody should continue to be
upset with him after he apologies. An apology alone, void of any action, is enough for all to be
forgiven and forgotten to Roland. His biological father had a relationship with him growing up, but
he only saw his father occasionally growing up. Roland resents his father leaving the family when
he was just a young boy and starting a family with a new woman. Isolation is when one feels
completely alone, disconnected, and secluded and it is a process where an idea or memory is
divested of its emotional component (Cooper, 2003).
Death is something that has caused Roland s only male role model and support system to be
taking away from him. The death of his step father is what caused the emotions he had for his
biological father to matesized and to be projected upon others in his life.
Roland has a lack of self esteem and feels like he is not worthy of love unless he forces upon
others. This lack of self esteem stems from his father abandoning him and starting another family to
replace him. Roland feels that he was not even good enough for his

Nixon Checkers Speech
Richard Nixon Checkers Speech On September 23, 1952 Richard Milhous Nixon sat down to
address the largest television audience ever amassed by a politician this was no ordinary political
speech. Nixon s future in politics was on the line. In one speech Nixon had the daunting task of
not only clearing his name of the allegation that he had received illegal campaign funds, but he
also had to present himself as a viable asset to the Republican ticket. Nixon bared his heart to the
American people, and in turn was applauded for his honesty and good character. Nixon s speech
was met with nearly unanimous acceptance and praise. But, audience acceptance alone is not what

The purpose of Nixon s speech must also be examined in order to make a comprehensive
analysis of the speech. In his autobiography Nixon described the three criteria his speech must
meet in order to convey his purpose: (1) [it must] answer the immediate attack by explaining and
defending the fund, (2) ward off further allegations by showing that he did not accrue personal
profit, and (3) launch a political counterattack (176). Nixon used these guide lining principles to
steer his way in the short 48 hour period he had to compose his speech. The principal way these
purposes were achieved was through the application of the three Aristotelian modes of proof:
ethos, pathos and logos (Cathcart 45). The primary Aristotelian proof Nixon used to appeal to
his audience was ethos, or credibility. In a sense, the purpose of the Checkers Speech was to
reaffirm Nixon s status as a reputable politician the public could put their faith in. Robert
Cathcart more precisely defined ethos as the image that receivers have of the communicator as
an expert source with a capacity for leadership and decision making and as one who can be
trusted . Nixon s credibility was gone as far as the American public was concerned until he
cleared his name of the allegations he had used $16,000 of private funds given to him by outside
donors. In order to prove his credibility Nixon decided to

Persuasive Essay On Black Footed Ferrets
Black footed ferrets are finally making a comeback! Almost thirty years, organizations have been
helping the black footed ferrets regain status. You will be learning about the amazing black footed
ferrets, the objectives of the Endangered Species Act, strategies to help the ferrets, threats of the
ferrets, who is helping them, and how they are helping the ferrets.
There are approximately 750 wild ferrets and roughly 350 in captivity around North America. They
have a long tan body with black legs and feet; they also have a black head with a little bit of black
on the back of their bodies. The black footed ferrets rely on prairie dogs and their colonies to
provide shelter and food. These animals live mostly in a grassland habitat. A grassland habitat is
basically an open prairie with minimal rainfall. Black footed ferrets are part of the weasel family.
There used to be tens of thousands of black footed ferrets but by the 1960s they became almost
extinct. Most frequent meals for a ferret are prairie dogs. They will also dine on rodents, different
types of squirrels, birds, and rabbits. They once lived throughout the United States (U.S.), Canada,
and Mexico. Now the new population has been introduced to 8 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico.
Most of a ferret s life is spent underground. 90% of the time they are underground eating, sleeping,

the scientific approach that they would take in resolving the conflict presented. This is a section
of the RFP that drives cost and time required to complete the RFP. By implementing a key
account program, consultants will be put on projects where they have expertise, and this should
allow this process to be as resource efficient as possible. 5. In the case, it states that it is common
for some companies to begin discussions with consultants well in advance of actually drafting and

What is the ideal client for ENSR?
The ideal Client for ENSR is clients who have strong relationships with ENSR consultants. ENSR

I frantically piled sand on top of sand. I was trying to build my dream sandcastle independently,
without anyone s help. The moist, dark sand kept falling apart though, I gave up. With the bow in
my hair and swimsuit full of sand, I ran over to my Dad.
Daddy, my sand castle keeps falling down. Can you help me?
My Dad, with a broad smile on his face, scooped me into his big, loving arms. He walked over with
me in his arms to a smooth spot of sand, and together we built a fascinating sand castle.
When we were finished, he took my tiny, sandy hand in his, and my thick little fingers clung to
his large firm hand. I looked up to his smiling face with large, hopeful eyes and said, I love you,
Daddy.
I love you very much, my little princess.
It was then the giant majestic waves tugged at my tiny feet like a rope tugging me into itself. His
protective hand held mine even tighter as I tried to pull away. I wanted to go play in the playful
waves.
Daddy, I want to play in the ocean.
Okay, but I ll come with you to make sure the waves don t pull you away.
No, Daddy. I want to go in by myself. And with that independent statement, I ran into the waves,
which welcomed me with full force. They filled my senses with a sharp, salty smell, the foam
blinded my eyes, and my energetic little body and pink bow was swallowed by the fast flowing
water.

Violence And Violence Among Children
Introduction While the rate of crime in the United States has decreased overall an increase in
senseless violence being committed by young people leaves individuals trying to understand what
is to blame. It is encouraging that the rate of crimes of violence in the United States has dropped
about 15 percent since 1999. However, self reported violent offending by American youth has not
declined. (Funk et al. 1) Work place violence, road rage disputes and mass school shootings are
just a few examples of violence that has become common place in society. Adolescent
perpetrating violent crimes has been on the rise as is evident with the number of shootings and
physical altercations in recent years. Many have tried to identify what is causing this increase in
violence among children. The growing problem of violence and aggressive behavior in society is
speculated to be credited in part to the rise of violent video games.

The Coming of Age The coming of age is an ethos differing on a wide spectrum (cross cultural,

adolescence or, as some countries refer, adulthood. It lacks the standard of generality adhered by
humanity in common. But that notwithstanding, the salient essences of coming of age more or less

and represented as perfect examples of poetic justice. Two Kinds reflected a somewhat different
representation of womanhood wherein rebelliousness is attached. Jing Mei s mother was not
hostile and only wanted what was best for her daughter, nothing more. The only mistake on the
mother s part is that she has overdone it (going to the extent where Jig Mei starts to feel unhappy
about herself) and neglected the possible uniqueness of her daughter. This is something common
at status quo where some families suffer the strain between a parent (or parents) and a child
whose concomitant psychological state brought about by a false sense of I am already a grown up

More Time Needs To Be Added Between Classes Have you ever had to get to class on the other

Many students don t use the restroom and get drinks because they know they will be late, they also

Is Hawaii An Independent State
The last time I spoke I informed you of how Hawaii was annexed by the United States of America.
Today I will enlighten you on why that annexation was illegal. I will touch base on a few points to
show that Hawaii is still an independent state and coequal sovereign country by discussing state
sovereignty and government, and Hawaiian Sovereignty and International law
First off to value and understand the phrases independent State and coequal sovereign, we need to
know these words, as they were recognized in the nineteenth century. According to Sir Robert
Phillamore s Commentaries upon International Laws, a sovereign State in the nineteenth century
was explained as a people permanently occupying a secure territory, bound collectively by common
laws, habits, and customs into one body of politic, exercising, through the medium of an organized
Government, independent sovereignty and control over all persons and things within its
boundaries, capable of making war and peace, and of entering into all International relations with
the other communities of the globe (Phillamore, 1879). Professor Freeman Snow states in his
International Law: Lectures Delivered at the Naval War College that a State must be an
organization of people for political ends; it must permanently occupy a fixed territory; it must
possess an organized government capable of making and enforcing law within the community; and,
finally, to be a sovereign State it must not be subject to any external control ... Show more content

International law in the nineteenth century provided that only by way of conquest, validated by
treaty or subjugation, or by a treaty of cession could an independent State s complete sovereignty be
terminated, thereby merging the former State into that of a successor State.
The establishment of the United States of America is a prime example of this principle through a
voluntary merger of sovereignty. After the American Revolution, Great Britain recognized the
former thirteen British colonies as free Sovereign and independent States in a confederation by the
1782 Treaty of Paris, but these States later relinquished their sovereignties in 1789 into a single
federated State, which was to be thereafter referred to as the United States of America (MacDonald,

Frictional Force Lab
The labs was about sliding surfaces and frictional force. The measurements were in Newtons. There
was different sliding surface, table top, waxed paper, paper towel, fine paper and coarse sand paper.
You will have to measure with a spring scale. You will have wood blocks to slide over the five
surface. You will have to do it 3 4 times and average it. The main thing is learned is how the
sliding surfaces creates frictional force.
In 4.1 you will have 5 different surfaces, you will have to slide the block over each surface 4 times
the the spring scale reading newtons. After when you are all you will have to average the number
you got. Like for table top trail 1(.75) trail 2(.75) trail 3( 1) trail 4(,75) add them up and divide by
three 0.81(N). The average for waxed paper was 0.43(N), for paper towel 0.37(N), fine sand paper

You will double the area and keep the weight safe, than triple the area and keep it the weight the
same. Last but not least when you four times the area and keeps the weight the same. When you

the area and keep the weight the same. I said increase because I thought if you add more the
friction will add a tiny bit more. Every area of the block came out to be 2(N). So the friction stay
the same, the sliding friction does not depend on the area. Overall , we learned sliding surface and
frictional force. Also when you slide the blocks over different surfaces. The force can stay the
same, increase and or decrease the numbers. Took are measurement and meade two bargraphs, one
was in lab 4.1 how the forces increase or decrease. In graph 2 4.2, you had to graph the averages of
the overall forces. For example you will mark the depend and impend variable. Then graph the table

The heart of these reptiles has changed very little, if not at all. Their hearts have three chambers,
unlike mammals who have four chambered hearts (Dowling). With it, reptiles have advantages

save energy as they hibernate (Dowling). Having only a three chambered heart puts a large
restraint on the amount of heat that is produced inside the body. Similar to those of the past
reptiles, lizards will tend to colonize in open areas where there is a large amount of direct sunlight.
Direct sunlight will greatly warm a reptile s body so that they can perform their basic metabolic

result, lizards have grown to not need a continuous food supply but still eat in bulk like their

The Pros And Cons Of School Uniforms
School uniforms have both negative and positive feedback. Some view it as promoting
conformity, or taking away a student s individuality. It is always a fear to both parents and
students to have the liberties promised to them striped away just because of their age or for the
sake of being educated. This is why many families took these cases to court on the behalf of the
minor in their custody. Others tend to view it as a way to make things better for students. They
want to enforce that equality but at the same time embrace differences. They want uniforms to
decrease judgment and discrimination among students. They want student to behave according to
societies standards. They don t want any malice or jealousy due to a few differences. They want the
uniform to keep things orderly.
The School Board s purpose for enacting the uniform policy is to increase test scores and reduce
disciplinary problems throughout the school system, the appeals court wrote in Canady. This
purpose is in no way related to the suppression of student speech. (findlaw/us 5th circuit) The school
system won and it was decide that the uniform policy was not a violation of the student s first or
fourteenth amendment rights. Also it was brought up that the uniforms actually help with behavior
and test scores.
Uniforms are becoming increasingly more popular in the states due to that specific reason.
Uniforms which were 1st seen in private schools here in the US have public schools readily
following the trend. The dress codes now enforced by majority schools believe it restricts students
use of clothing as an element of contemporary communicative intake. It is therefore used as a
precaution to keep gang violence, and crime rate down.
The implementation of uniforms was to increase student success, and deter bad behavior. Their has
yet to be a link that suggest a substantial connection between the school uniform policies and
student achievement. The results do not particularly deny or back either side of the uniform
argument. The results do nonetheless strongly intimate that uniforms are not the solution to all of
American education s ills. Though this was the initial reason to have students switch to uniforms

Salmonella description, pathogenesis, symptoms
Salmonella is a gram negative bacillus that causes inflammation of the GI tract and in some cases, if
the immune response is not sufficiently powerful and treatment is not administered, can become
systemic and cause even more serious conditions throughout the body. After ingestion, these
bacteria cause infection by invading the epithelial cells of the small intestine and macrophages.
Though there are more than two thousand different subspecies of Salmonella, few of them are able
to cause serious conditions in humans for most, the disease resolves itself in a matter of days.
Those who are most affected by Salmonella infection are infants, the elderly, and people with
compromised immune ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

salmonella is a specialized invader of the gastrointestinal system that can cause a variety of painful
conditions of varying severity.
The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family
Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move
around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able
to grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than
otherwise (Gray and Fedorka Cray 56).
The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen, and Vi antigen.
The O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each salmonella bacillus may
posses 2 or more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be
destroyed by heat and enables the motility of the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295).
The last antigen is known as the Vi antigen because this antigen is related the virulence of the
bacterium. As a capsular antigen, its presence enhances the virulence of the bacterium that has it of
all the sub species of Salmonella, only two, Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) typhi and S.
choleraesuis, have the Vi antigen (296).
Depending on whether the type of Salmonella has one of

Compare A S To Sonnet 130
Sonnet 130 is a parody of the conventional love sonnet, made popular by Petrarch and, made
popular in England by Sidney s use of the Petrarchan form in his epic poem Astrophel and Stella.
When comparing the stanzas of A S to Sonnet 130, the reader can clearly see that the sonnet does
not use grandiose metaphors or allusions to build his beloved into a divine figure. Despite it
being an obvious parody, it will be compared to the chosen lines from the Tempest. In
Shakespeare s day, metaphors that allude to putting the beloved on a pedestal of beauty had
already become a clichГ©, but they were an accepted technique for writing love poetry
nonetheless. The way these poems would describe the poet s lover was high idealized, making

in many biological functions such as the production of energy, neutralization of free radicals
and also keeping cells healthy. Young bodies are capable of producing ample amounts of

Who Was The Nationalist Movement Of Zionism
The nationalist movement of Zionism emerged out of the Jewish people s need for a national
state of their own. This idea harkens back to the establishment of the Kingdom of Israel after the
Exodus. The Holy Land and all of its historic prestige persisted in Jewish culture as they spread
throughout the Diaspora for 2000 years.
Restrictions and persecution followed the Jewish people as they were met with prejudice
throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Organized political Zionismgrew from tsarist Russia,
where pogroms carried out against the Russian and Polish Jews in the 1880 s killed thousands.
Originating in Russia in 1884, an agency named the Lovers of Zion assisted the emigration of Jews
to Palestine, where they organized small farms. During this time Leon Pinsker wrote Auto
Emancipation , a Zionist pamphlet in which he posits an answer to the Jewish Question . He
argues that Jews are despised all over the world, and are viewed as aliens that cannot be
assimilated. He also states, Since it is not to be our mission to reform mankind, we must see what
we have to do for ourselves under the circumstances.
Another prominent Zionist activist was Theodor Herzel who wrote the Jewish State in 1896,
where he asserts that the Jews comprised a nation without a political state. It is important to note
that both Pinsker and Herzel did not directly name Palestine as the location for a Jewish state. The
following year, Herzel organized the first Zionist Congress in Basel in

The Crucible By Arthur Miller
I saw Sarah Good with the Devil! I saw Goody Osburn with the Devil! I saw Bridget Bishop with
the Devil! (Miller 45). In Arthur Miller s The Crucible, residents of Salem habitually cry witch ,
driven by dismay, suspicion, and retribution. Under a strict theocracy, where the court s ruling and
religious beliefs are exclusively bound to one another, death is practically inevitable for those
branded as witches, their names perpetually tarnished. From atop his high horse, one may look
upon The Crucible and harshly judge the irrational actions of Salem s community; however, human
emotion drove these injudicious acts, the very raw emotion that often overpowers logic in today s
society. Though theocracy has dissolved in America, one can never... Show more content on

Fear that witches were truly among the community of Salem, performing dark magic and wreaking
havoc, propelled witch hunters to raid the town. Paranoia. The declaration of Salem s most admired
individuals to have been involved in witchcraft gave residents the excuse to suspect any soul of
wrongdoing. Vengeance. Jealousy and dislike spurred citizens to accuse their foes, utilizing
witchcraft to justify their personal vendetta. When Salem s women were stigmatized as witches,
two groups were born. Those who believed in the children s witchcraft allegations, acting primarily
on emotion, and those who declared the children of pretense, acting predominantly on logic.
However, the group motivated by fear, paranoia, and vengeance greatly outnumbered those driven
by logic in both strength and size. Thus this group, experiencing a psychological phenomenon
called groupthink, can be held accountable for the execrable Salem witch trials.
Irving Janis, a social psychologist, studied how social behavior is influenced in group settings. In
1972, he coined the name groupthink to describe observed behavioral changes in individuals
belonging to groups. Groupthink is characterized by a group s pursuit for unity, often resulting in
individual members disregarding or altering their own beliefs to coincide with the majority, or
group s, beliefs. This disregard or altercation ensures that the group stays unified; however, results
in the group committing illogical actions without considering

Themes In The Farming Of Bones By Edwidge Danticat
In the Farming of Bones, Edwidge Danticat explores the 1937 massacre of Haitian immigrant
workers in the Dominican Republic. This unfortunate and destructive reality rests squarely on the
shoulders of Amabelle, who strives to find stability, love, and answers to tough questions on her
quest for personal freedom. Throughout the narrative, Danticat uses the cave, sugar cane, and rive
images, in order to deeply investigate the essence of the situation and provide us with symbolic
images to enhance the story of Amabelle and the people around her in Columbia and Haiti.
Danticat uses a few types of plants to explore the reality of Haitian field workers prior to the

As book ends, she is lying in the current, giving herself up to fate and the forward flow of the
river, with faith for a new life. In the water, she symbolically relives the massacre of her parent
and so many Haitian people while attempting to gain clarification on so many questions. Her
slight submersion helps her undergo some type of rebirth, The water was warm for October,
warm and shallow, so shallow that I could lie on my back in it with my shoulders only half
submerged. . . . cradled by the current, paddling like a newborn in a washbasin. (310) Danticat
illustrates, once again, death. This time, conversely, the remembrance of death allows for growth
and life in Amabelle.
The death attracting river serves as the backdrop of actual and symbolic death; many people die
in it, corpses float down it, and once people cross it, their lives are never the same Crossing the
river multiple times becomes eye opening experience in itself; we see this through Amabelle
attempting to return to her previous dwelling and everything that was alive before is no longer as
she knew it or in a sense, dead. Therefore, Danticat suggests that Amabelle can never truly go back
to the other side. However, through her return to the middle of the river, she conquers the death that

Awake of the Civil War
In the wake of the Civil War, Congress acceded to pressure to have the federal government intercede
to secure African Americans rights. What were some of the long range effects of that government
posture?
The Union Victory in the Civil War in 1865 granted freedom to approximately 4 million slaves,
however, the process of rebuilding the South during the Reconstruction period 1865 1877 brought a
lot of challenges. In 1865 and 1866 under the supervision of President Andrew Johnson, new
Southern state legislatives passed the black codes to control the labor and behavior of former
slaves and other African Americans. During the Radical Reconstruction in 1869, new enfranchised
blacks had a voice in the government for the first time in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although freedom to become citizens took longer and the fight more difficult, a great number of
African Americans steadily gained various rights which accumulated over time. It is important to
note that racial segregations momentum dissipated over time as more and more blacks held
positions of authority and congressional approval overwhelmingly supported more rights for
blacks. Nonetheless, it is also imperative to consider how white supremacists such as the KKK
fought to undo the important developments. Till this day, both the executive legislative and
judiciary wings of government are constantly battling instances of racial segregation. However, the
long range effects of federal government struggle to secure equal rights for African Americans has
been significant successes in the rise of African American entrepreneurship. The proliferation of
blacks in both government and civil society, the rise of blacks in academia, sports and liberal arts
are long effects of the fight for African American rights. This has progressively opened up
American society and in a way, levelled the playing field. Also this federal government action to
intervene in the affairs of the state has lived on throughout the 21st century.

Low Genetic Diversity and its Contribution to DFTD
A carnivorous marsupial, the Tasmanian Devil, has been suffering greatly from DFTD (devil facial
tumor disease) but why the population has been so susceptible to DFTD is another question.
Tasmanian devils have low genetic diversity, and this factor contributes to why DFTD is so
immensely affecting this population. The Tasmanian Devils low genetic may have been caused by
the widespread killing of the marsupial by bounty hunters, leaving the species with descendants
from the same small population. This resulting low genetic diversity from not having a very
diverse selection of mates leads to small variation in the genes for their immune systems, which
may contribute to the rapid spread of

Macbeth Imagery Blood
Blood Imagery in Macbeth
Shakespeare s plays are well known for the richness of their imagery. This is particularly true in
Macbeth and the many allusions to blood. The use of blood imagery gives the reader some
foresight into what is going on in the play and how the characters are thinking and feeling. Blood
is used to represent heroics on the battlefield, evil and murderous inclinations, and ultimately guilt
and shame. Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to give the readers insight into his characters
as they change and are impacted by their choices and actions. This paper will demonstrate how
Shakespeare uses the image of blood as a symbol of bravery, guilt and evil citing directly from the
text of Macbeth. Act one Scene Two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macbeth goes from being a heroic general in the king s army to an assassin and a tyrant.
Through the looking glass Macbeth seems as bloody as he could be, yet at the core he feels
unruly guilt Like a child, Macbeth attempts to run away from his problems, yet he has no where
to go. He now realizes what he has done is against his own morals, knee deep in guilt, and
attempts to figure out his problems with his wife. Blood symbolizes honor and bravery and also
guilt and evil.
In the beginning of the play blood is represented of honor and bravery and symbolizes good and
victory The play starts out with the 3 witches talking about Macbeth. Macbeth is now a great
hero because he led the Scottish army to victory. For the recognition of Macbeth s leadership he
becomes Thane of Cawdor. The witches make many predictions to Macbeth and they all come
true. Shakespear stated For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name Disdaining fortune, with
his brandished steel,Which smoked with bloody execution (I,2,16 18). This showed that the
Captain truly respects Macbeth and that he is a heroic soldier. Towards the middle of the play
blood represented guilt. At this point of the play. A bell trings and Lady Macbeth signals that the
chamberlains are asleep so Macbeth strides toward Duncan s chamber. Macbeth was pressured
into killing King Duncan by his wife,Lady Macbeth, and does not feel good about it. Shakespear

Sound Of Music Essay
The Sound of Music
Can you imagine that it has been 50 years since the classic and heartwarming movie The Sound
of Music was released? It is most meaningful for me because when the movie came out in movie
theaters on March 2, 1965 I was 8 years old and my dad took me to see this movie. Two years
later the movie was again in theaters, I have just forgotten what holiday time it was released for,
and this time I went with my mom and my dad had passed away. Here are some interesting and
perhaps unknown facts about The Sound of Music .
Rights to the movie
The real Maria Von Trappwrote her book about her life The Story of the Trapp Family Singers
and it was published in 1949. The Trapp Family ran into monetary problems in 1955 and Maria
sold the rights to German movie producer Wolfgang Reinhardt for a mere $9,000. However we
must consider the fact that in those days this amount of money was worth a whole lot more than
it would be in today s terms. What I do find amazing is that Maria and the Von Trapp family never
got any royalties from the two German movies that were released based on their life nor did they
receive anything from the Broadway production of The Sound of Music which ran for over three
years or from the movie, which brought in about $300 million. Now surely they should have

the movie Cleopatra put such a drain on studio reserves that for some time Fox shut down. When
Richard Zanuck took over the production of Fox studios this film was once again put up for
consideration. It would have been such a shame if it had never seen the light of day.

  • 2. Christopher Clombus Is Not A Hero Essay Introduction In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. That s the one date everyone remembers, the date in virtually every school child s history textbook. But, they leave out pretty much everything about Columbus and his exploration of the New World. It s the part many people have yet to learn about. For years, Columbus has been presented to us as a hero. In 1934, President Roosevelt even gave Columbus his own holiday. To this day, we celebrate his discovery of America. What is found in history textbooks now, have seemed to show another side of Christopher Columbus, a side that they wouldn t dare teach in elementary school. It s the rest of Columbus tale of discovery . This paper will show you that Christopher Columbus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Indians taught them how to grow food and use the land to survive. Columbus and his men would trade a lot with the Indians and they all lived happily ever after. That s pretty much where our textbook stopped. I have never learned anything else about Columbus until now. There is so much that my third grade teacher left out and didn t explain. REASONS FOR HIM NOT BEEN A HERO Columbus gets a lot of credit for discovering land that already had people living on it, a land that has already been encountered by other people way before Columbus was even born. In 70,000 to 12,000 B.C. Siberia explorers sailed to Alaska. In 10,000 600 B.C., Siberians also went to Canada and the state we now call New Mexico. A little more recently the Vikings in 1000 1350 came from Greenland and Iceland. They traveled to Labrado, Baffin Land, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Cape Cod and further south. Around 1311 and 1460 explorers from West Africa came across to Haiti, Panama, and Brazil (Loewen 48). These were only a few of the many encounters of the Americas. A result of these explorations was the establishment of Indian villages and the life they began to lead. The fact that Columbus didn t actually discover America isn t the idea that is most disturbing when considering misleading history that children are taught. It is the information that was kept from us while younger that now should be revealed, since we are at the age that we can comprehend and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Private Companies are companies that are either owned by non governmental organizations or by a relatively small number of shareholders or company members which does not offer or trade its company stock (shares) to the general public on the stock market exchanges, but rather the company s stock is offered, owned and traded or exchanged privately (Google). Private companies are very similar to independent companies; the only real difference is that private companies can choose their shareholders. Private companies don t need to meet the strict exchange commission requirements that public companies have to, like having to give a certain percentage of their income to the government. Independent companies are companies which work on their own; they can make decision on their own and are free of influence by government or corporate interests. Independent companies are different to subsidiaries as Independent companies are not owned by any conglomerate. An advantage of an independent company is that all the money the company makes is its own profit instead of being shared with other companies. A disadvantage of an independent media company is that they often find it difficult to survive against competition from bigger companies that are owned by conglomerates as they are better known, which reduces their source of income resulting in bankruptcy. • 5. Mof Synthesis Lab Link to Previous Experiments Last semester I synthesized a powder, that based on IR, I believe to be the HKUST 1 MOF. I removed much of the DMSO and have identified key peaks. Despite having cleaned the MOF several times with ethanol and by heating out the DMSO solvent, the spectra showed there are many impurities in it. In order to try to further validate the MOF synthetic method, I attempted a kinetics experiment that would have tracked the disappearance of the BTC precursor. Last Synthesis In the last run where I successfully produced a powder, 0.58 g (2.8 mmol) BTC and 1.2 g (5.1 mmol) Cu(NO3) В· 3 H2O were mixed together at room temperature in 4.5 mL of DMSO. The solids are not easily dissolved so it takes mild heating and about 30 minutes of stirring. I raised the temperature up to 100В°C and allowed to remain as constant as possible while the solvent evaporated. The entire time it was impossible to see any precipitate because the solution was green. The only way I was able to tell the MOF precipitated out was when the stir bar slowed down and the solution got darker. The solid formed was clumpy. I broke it up with a spatula and filtered it with ethanol several times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I knew that I would get scattering on the RedTide and the MOF is not formed if the solution is not heterogeneous so I allowed them to mix under mild heat. This took 65 minutes. Once the solution was fully mixed, I turned up the heat and maintained at 100 В°C. I took aliquots at 0, 5, 10, 30, and 45 minutes. At that point I had used up all the solvent. I observed no precipitate in the flask. This is most likely since I was forcefully removing the solvent and not letting it evaporate. As I took each aliquot out and placed it in a test tube, I covered it. However, as it cooled, a white precipitate (most likely the BTC) started to form at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. No One Factor Was Directly Responsible For The French... No one factor was directly responsible for the French Revolution. Years of feudal oppression and fiscal mismanagement contributed to a French society that was ripe for revolt. The economical downturn may have been the kickstarter that began the revolution as the taxes rose higher and outrage at the crown heightened. The economy began to destabilise in the late 1700s, and the king decided to bring in financial advisers to look at the weakened French treasurey. Each adviser gave the king the same warning that something had to be done and radical changes had to be made, but each were, in their turn, kicked out. After the financial crisis began to effect Francemore harshly, the king finally decided that something had to be done, and so he appointed a new controller general of finance, Charles de Calonne in 1783. Calonne suggested many ways to get France out of the spiral, but most balanced on the nobility paying taxes as well as the French public. He pleaded with them at the National Assembly, but to no avail. Thus, financial ruin became imminent. The Jacobins, led by Robespierre who wanted the king out of the picture entirely where the radicals of the Assembly. Whereas the Girondins took a more moderate approach to the monarchy. This led to the rift in the assembly, which caused the Girondins to lose power. The takeaway I liked the most from both of these writings was there is always room for improvement. You should never be satisfied with what you have done. You want to be remembered for what you do, not for helping someone else live their dream. These themes were very obvious to me. Josh wasn t satisfied in what he done in the game before or in practice earlier, he wanted to get better. He even got better in free throws, which he hated and that was his worst skill in basketball. His father also pushed him to practice harder so he would get better. In the song, The River, Garth Brooks mentioned that some people don t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Don t Fear Change Essay examples What are you afraid of? Many people are afraid of many things such as death, heights, bugs, or public speaking; but the fear of change ranks high in the list of things that trigger anxiety (Radwan). Is there a reasonable answer why people neglect change nowadays? In fact, there is more than one answer to this question. Change has become such an important aspect of our everyday life that it is impossible to ignore. When it comes to the idea of change, most people will readily agree that some individuals try their hardest to avoid change. The reason behind this known theory is that those individuals don t fearchange; they fear being changed (Rabadam). In the end, change is something that drives them away from wanting to experience other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the main reason to fear failure is how we imagine how others will view us when we fail. For example, if an individual keeps doing the same thing over and over, then the results will never change. As Albert Einstein stated, a person, who never made a mistake, never tried anything new (Brenner). Failure is not the enemy, but a life changing experience. It is a human experience, and it prepares the way for us to grow and transform our lives. Mistakes are essential to the development of life, just as change is. Nevertheless, change is said to prepare us for life and without change, life would persistently be the same. Admittedly, childhood experiences affect your adulthood. For instance, overprotective parents and parents who spoil their children are those who indirectly teach them to be afraid to change. In the same way, over protection can cause the children to be unready for the real world. When the kids do get out into the real world, they don t know how to handle it. The individual will be so used to what they knew when growing up that that is all they will expect. That same individual will not follow the pattern of change. A person that doesn t follow the pattern of change will most likely fear change itself. Furthermore, another reason people fear change is because they fear the past might replicate itself (Radwan). This reason links to the fear of failure in a way. As an illustration, a woman who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Character Analysis Of Gary O s Seventh Grade By Gary Soto Even though Victor, a 7th grader from the story of Seventh Grade by Gary Soto, is trying to find his way socially, academically and personally, he is motivated to get his girl but in doing this he matures and develops. On the first day of seventh grade, Victor s personality is sheepish and shy. When he was in his math room for his second period, he sat in the back because math was at his weakest subject. On Victor s way to math class the narrator says After English, Victor had math, his weakest subject. He sat in the back by the window, hoping that he would not be called on. Victor understood most of the problems, but some of the stuff looked like the teacher made it up as she went along. It was confusing, like the inside of a watch. (Soto 4). This illustrates that Victor is not very good at math and does not want to try harder in math. • 15. The Personality Characteristics Of Personality The notion of personality can be defined as a specific set of organised characteristics that influence a person s everyday actions. These actions are guided by different motives and cognitive processes causing the large range of behaviours in a person. Each person s characteristics are unique and come together to create an individual personal identity (Burger, 2011). Therefore a personality is subjective to each individual person, it is these unique characteristics that make it so. Characteristics such as likes and dislikes, fear and strengths and weaknesses are what create the individual personality that is seen by others (D. Schultz and P. Schultz, 2005). It is an important endeavour to discern where these characteristics are derived from, the question whether or not a personality is the product of free will has many relevant explorations. Free will in personality would suggest that a person has a free choice over how their aforementioned personality characteristics may turn out (Maslow, 1943). This idea that a person can determine their personality through a series of life choices directly contravenes the idea of a pre determined personality that is shaped by biology and life events, called determinism (Skinner, 1957). Vasilisa s Coming Of Age Logsdon, Amanda ENG 2000 Tjarks, Mark Essay 1 Coming of Age The Coming of Age The coming of age is an ethos differing on a wide spectrum (cross cultural, spiritual, moral, physical, inter alia), which in a nutshell refers to the transition of a child into adolescence or, as some countries refer, adulthood. It lacks the standard of generality adhered by humanity in common. But that notwithstanding, the salient essences of coming of age more or less approximates it welcomes independence, braveness, physical maturity, and concomitant freedom in decision making and an overall sense of maturity. It is submitted that Vasilisa s coming of age is better while Jing Mei is less desirable. Vasilisa reflected a girl s triumphant journey towards being a woman in order to be freed from oppression. Her subsequent acts that made her prevail against her antagonists were well justified and represented as perfect examples of poetic justice. Two Kinds reflected a somewhat different representation of womanhood wherein rebelliousness is attached. Jing Mei s mother was not hostile and only wanted what was best for her daughter, nothing more. The only mistake on the mother s part is that she has overdone it (going to the extent where Jig Mei starts to feel unhappy about herself) and neglected the possible uniqueness of her daughter. This is something common at status quo where some families suffer the strain between a parent (or parents) and a child whose concomitant psychological state brought about by a false sense of I am already a grown up sows costly conflicts. For this fact, it is submitted that Jing Mei s coming of age is insufficient. But is also noteworthy to state that Jing Mai subsequently embraced her mother s desire, it is just unfortunate that it came a little bit too late (when her mother was already ... Explain Why More Time Needs To Be Replaced Between Classes More Time Needs To Be Added Between Classes Have you ever had to get to class on the other side of the building, but had to go to the restroom and ended up late? There are many reasons why you could be late to class. Many students don t use the restroom and get drinks because they know they will be late, they also stop at their lockers as least as they can. A lot of students get to class late without even getting a drink, going to the restroom and stopping at their lockers, they are late because in those short three minutes, they have to get to one end of the school to the other. • 34. Is Hawaii An Independent State The last time I spoke I informed you of how Hawaii was annexed by the United States of America. Today I will enlighten you on why that annexation was illegal. I will touch base on a few points to show that Hawaii is still an independent state and coequal sovereign country by discussing state sovereignty and government, and Hawaiian Sovereignty and International law First off to value and understand the phrases independent State and coequal sovereign, we need to know these words, as they were recognized in the nineteenth century. According to Sir Robert Phillamore s Commentaries upon International Laws, a sovereign State in the nineteenth century was explained as a people permanently occupying a secure territory, bound collectively by common laws, habits, and customs into one body of politic, exercising, through the medium of an organized Government, independent sovereignty and control over all persons and things within its boundaries, capable of making war and peace, and of entering into all International relations with the other communities of the globe (Phillamore, 1879). Professor Freeman Snow states in his International Law: Lectures Delivered at the Naval War College that a State must be an organization of people for political ends; it must permanently occupy a fixed territory; it must possess an organized government capable of making and enforcing law within the community; and, finally, to be a sovereign State it must not be subject to any external control ... International law in the nineteenth century provided that only by way of conquest, validated by treaty or subjugation, or by a treaty of cession could an independent State s complete sovereignty be terminated, thereby merging the former State into that of a successor State. The establishment of the United States of America is a prime example of this principle through a voluntary merger of sovereignty. After the American Revolution, Great Britain recognized the former thirteen British colonies as free Sovereign and independent States in a confederation by the 1782 Treaty of Paris, but these States later relinquished their sovereignties in 1789 into a single federated State, which was to be thereafter referred to as the United States of America (MacDonald, ... It is always a fear to both parents and students to have the liberties promised to them striped away just because of their age or for the sake of being educated. This is why many families took these cases to court on the behalf of the minor in their custody. Others tend to view it as a way to make things better for students. They want to enforce that equality but at the same time embrace differences. They want uniforms to decrease judgment and discrimination among students. They want student to behave according to societies standards. They don t want any malice or jealousy due to a few differences. They want the uniform to keep things orderly. The School Board s purpose for enacting the uniform policy is to increase test scores and reduce disciplinary problems throughout the school system, the appeals court wrote in Canady. This purpose is in no way related to the suppression of student speech. (findlaw/us 5th circuit) The school system won and it was decide that the uniform policy was not a violation of the student s first or fourteenth amendment rights. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise (Gray and Fedorka Cray 56). This idea harkens back to the establishment of the Kingdom of Israel after the Exodus. The Holy Land and all of its historic prestige persisted in Jewish culture as they spread throughout the Diaspora for 2000 years. Restrictions and persecution followed the Jewish people as they were met with prejudice throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Organized political Zionismgrew from tsarist Russia, where pogroms carried out against the Russian and Polish Jews in the 1880 s killed thousands. Originating in Russia in 1884, an agency named the Lovers of Zion assisted the emigration of Jews to Palestine, where they organized small farms. He argues that Jews are despised all over the world, and are viewed as aliens that cannot be assimilated. He also states, Since it is not to be our mission to reform mankind, we must see what we have to do for ourselves under the circumstances. Another prominent Zionist activist was Theodor Herzel who wrote the Jewish State in 1896, where he asserts that the Jews comprised a nation without a political state. Jealousy and dislike spurred citizens to accuse their foes, utilizing witchcraft to justify their personal vendetta. When Salem s women were stigmatized as witches, two groups were born. Those who believed in the children s witchcraft allegations, acting primarily on emotion, and those who declared the children of pretense, acting predominantly on logic. However, the group motivated by fear, paranoia, and vengeance greatly outnumbered those driven by logic in both strength and size. Thus this group, experiencing a psychological phenomenon called groupthink, can be held accountable for the execrable Salem witch trials.
