Baking Soda Vs Baking Powder
Two of the staple ingredients you will find in almost any home baker s pantry are baking powder and
baking soda. This is because they are critical leavening agents that provide volume and lightness in a
recipe. The volume is created by the a leavening agent s ability to produce air bubbles from the mixing
and baking processes. However, don t confuse baking powder with baking soda because they are not
interchangeable. Both have similar properties but not identical ones. In order, to diffuse the confusion
we must answer the question...
What it baking soda?
Baking soda is the common name for the chemical compound known as sodium bicarbonate or
sodium hydrogen carbonate. This compound has the chemical formula NaHCO3 and is a salt

Then add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Stir the mixture gently and watch the reaction. You should see
the mixture rapidly bubbling if the baking soda is still effective. If no reaction is witness then go to the
store to purchase a fresh batch of soda. [4]

Jan Van Eyck s Arnolfini Double Portrait
In the article Sexuality and Social Standing In Jan van Eyck s Arnolfini Double Portrait the author
analyzes the religious and social grammars of marriage. This short paper will be a reflection of
Harbison s article that discusses religious and marital norms throughout, with also analyzing various
sections of van Eyck s piece, for example: implying the piece as a marriage document or contract of
the marriage, which immediately makes the viewer look deeper into the double portrait. All of this
helped me realize that pieces of art are not simply pictures, rather they are narratives like a scene in a
documentary. The author starts the article with a clear thesis of analyzing the social religious and
marital norms when this piece was made. There are different scenes of this portrait that van Eyck s
uses throughout to identify social standards of the time this piece was done. The fruit is there to
identify the intimacy of marriage. The dog and gargoyles also represent various implications of
religiosities. Going in enormous detail of what everything means. The gargoyles are there to display
deceptiveness in the marriage of the couple s nature as well as being somewhat ... Show more content

However, later in the article the author also says the following, We should thus be wary of the kinds of
compartmentalization we usually employ when faced with intricate problems of interpretation in this
kind of imagery. (41) Consequently using that statement to present an almost changed thesis. I feel
that this statement was hugely important because it changes the entire dynamic of the conclusion.
From that point on it is implied that the author has an open mind of the piece at hand, while it does
show a lot of religious and marital grammars it may also have been an edit of the director (artist) of
this piece to examine how he wanted to tell this families

Table 2: Summary of characteristics Prostatic Specific Antigen (PSA)
Characteristic Data Comments
Classification PSA is a glycoprotein produced by the prostate epithelial cells Cancer may elevate
levels both from increased production and because tissue barriers between the gland lumen and
vascular bed are disrupted.
PSA Levels PSA has a half life of 2.2 days and elevated levels vary in recovery depending on the
cause of the elevation PSA elevation may precede clinical cancer by 5 10 years.
Specificity PSA is organ specific, not cancer specific. Using 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal the
specificity is 91% and 85% for cut off of 3.0 ng/ml Elevated levels also found in BPH and
prostatitis/UTIs, post prostate biopsy and in acute urinary retention (do not test for 2 4 weeks).
Negligible level increases due to DRE.
Sensitivity Most screening studies use 4.0 ng/ml as cut off for abnormal levels, but a review of the
literature in 2006 showed the estimated sensitivity using 4.0 was only 21% for detecting cancer and
51% for detecting high grade (Gleason 8). In 2009, estimates of 4.3 to 73% sensitivity were given
(www.parliament.nz/resource0000166364). Using 3.0 cut off increased sensitivities to 32 and 68%.

may not correlate with the acuity of the prostate cancer. A later study concluded that no single cut off

Group Decision Support Systems
Introduction to GDSS Group decision support systems (GDSS) are interactive, computer based
systems that facilitate solution of semi structured and unstructured problems by a designated set of
decision makers working together as a group. A GDSS can assist groups, especially groups of
managers, in analyzing problem situations and in performing group decision making tasks. GDSS
include structured decision tools for tasks like brainstorming, commenting on ideas, and rating and
ranking of alternatives GDSS is also known as Group Support Systems (GSS) or Computer Support
Cooperative Work System (CSCW). It is a silent partner to improve the efficiency, reliability, and
quality of group decisions in meetings. GDSS are in some ways hybrid ... Show more content on

`` Thought, By Louis H. Sullivan
In his essay, Thought, Louis H. Sullivan illustrates the importance of real thinking and creative
thinking. He asserts that words are not really necessary to use to express our thoughts. He presents
other wordless forms of communication to translate our thoughts into loud expressions. Music,
painting, images and other wordless forms are the solution the author suggest, as better forms of
communication. Real thinking is better done without words Sullivan argues. Words cut off the
inspiration of creative thinking, and disturbs the imagination when someone tries to translate their
thoughts into spoken language. According to the author, images are the best way to translate our
creative thoughts without the interruption of finding the perfect word to describe an idea. Sullivan
attempts to persuade his audience to avoid reading because it deprives them from real thinking:
asserting that it must be only done in the present. He discusses that writing is a slow process: many
thoughts dissipates as one struggles to put their thoughts into words. Another point that Sullivan
argues is that one should only think in the present, and focus in the present alone because the present
is the only thing that matters. Sullivan explains, You cannot think in the past, you can only think of the
past... you cannot think in the future, you can only think of the future ... One is dead and the other is
yet to be born. The author argues that it is not good idea to expand our imagination onward and

1 Introduction
Uranium should be produced in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible way because this is
important for consumers, producers and society as a whole. The production of uranium through
hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent
extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry.
Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a
number one priority.
2 Safety issues
The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not
properly managed. Radon is a colourless, tasteless gas and exposure to high levels can increase the
chances of getting cancer. As a result, every country that has nuclear facilities, has regulations to
ensure public land, air and water (both surface and groundwater) are protected now and in the future
(Vance, 2014).
The erosion of tailings and waste rock facilities has led to contaminants (either solid or in
ground/surface water) entering

Nations See Dramatic Decline in Fertility
Over the past half century, almost every nation has seen a dramatic fall in their fertility rates.
Population regulation differs through out the world based on the particular region. Populations can
stabilize through a variety of factors including modern communications, growing affluence,
urbanization, family planning and social reforms (Cunningham, 2013). China and the Indian state of
Kerala are examples of two very different methods to controlling population expansion. In the past
twenty years, total fertility dropped by more than half in China (Cunningham, 2013). The Chinese
regulations in place focus more on birth control rather then new social equality. This strategy depends
on strongly enforced policies set by the government, determining how many children a Chinese family
can produce. Chinese law provides a compulsory limit on reproduction that is punishable by law if an
individual exceeds the limits set. The strategy of strict laws with penalization is also combined with an
economic incentive for reducing births. A very different strategy regarding population stabilization can
be seen in Kerala, India. It involves a social justice strategy that believes social benefits as the solution
to family planning. This strategy is based on the assumption that unequal resource allocation is the
main problem that leads to a high population in developing countries (Cunningham, 2013). In Kerala,
providing a fair share of social benefits to everyone is seen as the key to family

Advantages of using the social media aspect can attract the attention needed to promote a product or
service intended or drive traffic to the intended website of services. This type of channel has the
ability to bring people together from all over the world as well as allows each person to express their
own opinions and ideas, providing well needed feedback. Disadvantages of this method when not used
properly or failed to promote the communication effectively can cause a permanent damage to the
company s reputation; as this mistake is seen in front of hundreds or thousands of people who also
have direct and easy access of spreading their messages online. This way of communicating can also
be more time consuming as someone has to be constantly checking in to make comments, answer
questions, and reply to feedback.
Regulatory Effects

Changes Of Aging
As people age over time, they have a way of changing both psychological and biological. These
changes affect everyone in different ways and the changes that can take place over the years can vary
from individual to individual. For the human brain, there s no such thing as over the hill.
Psychologists researching the normal changes of aging have found that although some aspects of
memory and processing change as people get older, simple behavior changes can help people stay
sharp for as long as possible. Although researchers are still piecing together what happens in a healthy
aging brain, they can explain some typical changes (Memory Changes in Older Adults, 2006).

Semantic memory is generally derived from episodic memory, in that we learn new facts or concepts
from our experiences, and episodic memory is considered to reinforce semantic memory
(Zimmermann, 2014). It is agreed by researches that there is a transition from episodic to semantic
memory. With that being said, not all sematic memory is developed from episodic memory. A gradual
transition from episodic to semantic memory can take place, in which episodic memory reduces its
sensitivity and association to particular events, so that the information can be generalized as semantic
memory (Episodic Sematic Memory) . This is important to understand within this process due to the
fact that this allows individuals to store information as general knowledge. Both the episodic and
sematic memory process involve and require a similar encoding

Constantine s Conversion To Christianity
The Conversion of Constantine
During the period of the 3rd Century (250 538) the Church faced many challenges. These challenges
helped make the Church what it is today. One of the events that the Church faced was Constantine s
birth. He was born around 274 and 288. Constantine became the Emperor of Rome in 306. He was
known for being the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity. Constantine also established the
city of Constantinople. He is also known as Constantine the great, Constantine I and Saint
Constantine. He gave a great deal of money to those people in need. He even gave money to non
Christians, who had no claim on him. He provided money, food and clothes to those who had nothing.
He was generous to everyone.

This local charity is run by numerous churches. Need help paying your bills helps anyone regardless
of their religion, race, gender or age. This is something Constantine did. He helped others no matter
what the circumstance was. This shows what a true Emperor was and how well he followed in Jesus
footsteps. In the many years Constantine was alive he did many things with the church. Constantine
helped assemble and took part in the very first meeting of the Christian Churches. The Council of
Nicaea which was held in 325 in what we know today as Iznik, Turkey. He wished to help church
leaders find common ground on some contentious aspects of Christian doctrine. The Christian belief
championed by Arius, a priest from Alexandria, Egypt, held that Jesus, through the Son of God, was
inferior to God the Father.During Constantine years of being alive he tried to define what a Christian
believed to others and tried to pursued other to convert to Christianity. In Constantinople, During 337

Since the global financial downturn in late 2008, retailing has since delivered negative growth.
Employment within the sector, the second largest single employer within Australia , also fell by 6% in
2009. Fashion retailers are continually at the mercy of consumer spending especially during economic
downturns. In fact, the fashion industry in 2009 delivered a negative sales turnover of 1.9%. Not
surprisingly, department store sales also plummeted to 3.5%.
Generally speaking, with the current climate lacking economic stimulus coupled with higher interest
rates and media reports generating signs of an economic recovery, analysts are predicting that
eventually the retail trade sector will gradually resurface into positive territory. Customers will be
more pragmatic and cautious about the future which will yield new patterns of behavior and
relationships.
Corporate strategy

known for retailing quality clothing for men and women, homewares and fashion accessories. As
Country Road s traditional market has always been fashion conscious young urban professionals, they

Davidson Conformity
In Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of Reason, Michel Foucault, the French
philosopher, writes, What desire can be contrary to nature since it was given to man by nature itself .
In this quote, Foucault examines the absurd nature of human conformity to social norms. Society has a
way of creating unofficial rules and regulations for how the human race should behave and carry out
daily activities. Australian writer and traveler Robyn Davidson challenged the constraints of
conformity when she trekked 1,700 miles across the Australian desert with only four camels and a
dog. As a young, broke, inexperienced, female embarking on an extraordinarily difficult solo journey,
Davidson had all odds for success against her. From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Bystander Effect Essay
The Bystander Effect
Mankind must remember that peace is not God s gift to his creatures; peace is our gift to each other. It
was a dark cold night. The sky was dusky and the moon was NEW. As usual, I took my long walk
starting from my neighborhood, till the next one and back. But this night was not just a normal. It was
a horrible yet frightening night that engraved one of the heaviest, most profound experiences in my
life! One of the ill effects of cruelty is that it makes the bystanders cruel. (Thomas Fowell Buxton)
The typical night walks I go for are around 10:00 11:00pm; just to have an introspective thought about
myself, a moment of peace of mind and relaxation. It was starting to get cold at night. I guess it was
just the season. I was walking alone, hearing every step I made forward with my hands inside my
jacket and my mouth covered with its tip; just to keep myself warm and not disturb my thoughts. The
street lights were off. I could not even see my shadow on the ground. I felt something was wrong. Just
that gut feeling that you sometimes get for no specific reason. So I decided to just forget about all the
thoughts, focus on my walk, and try to make is as quick as possible to get back to the safety and ...

Competition And Monopoly And Innovation Within The Workplace
Introduction In order to remain competitive many companies have integrated a perspective known as
monopolistic competition. Monopolistic competition is a concept that refers to the case where there
are many sellers of a differentiated product and entry into or exit from the industry is rather easy in the
long run.( Salvatore, D., 2011p.373) When we consider the aspect of Transportation and Logistic
companies, we find that there are many that have different products but are suited to meet the same
needs of the consumer. This paper will entail all those portions that help Transportation and Logistic
companies find advantages of implementing both competition and monopoly and innovation within
the workplace. As companies continue to grow into a particular industry, the threat of substitute good
becomes substantial, allowing for more to arise. With the rise of these products; companies can began
to see a decline in sales. Many businesses can find out what are the advantages of innovation in order
to derive a more unique perception to stay ahead of the competition. One concept that will be
mentioned that has allowed some logistic companies to get ahead is that of Intermodal Transportation
and how it has allowed many companies to benefit economically. Innovation is a derivative that has
allowed many businesses to flourish and continue to gain a competitive edge within its particular
industry and the market. Many transportation and logistic companies don t compete on the

Quarter Car Essay
WHEEL SLIP DYNAMICS Quarter car model
The consideration of a quarter car model can clearly explained the problem of wheel slippage as
shown in the fig.5. This quarter car model consists of mass m which is connected by a wheel. The
mass m is steered by the inertia with a velocity v, as a result the wheel starts rotating. A friction force
fx is generated between the wheel and the road surface. An angular velocity ω is caused by wheel
rotation, which is generated by the torque. A negative angular acceleration is developed, when the
brake is pressed in opposition to the wheel rotation.

The equation of quarter car forces are:

Similarities Between Edith Wharton And Booker T Washington
Social Realism Social realism was a movement following the civil war where artists and writers would
focus and point out the conditions of the middle to lower working class. Unlike Regional realism,
social realism draws attention to the social structures and conditions that the majority of the
population was currently experiencing. Edith Wharton and Booker T Washington where two important
writers who wrote about their own experiences and of others to demonstrate the new social structure
changes at this time. The short story The Other Two by Edith Wharton is an excellent representation of
gender relation transformations and the nature of marriage at the turn of the century. In the beginning
of the story, we are introduced to a woman named Alice, whom has been divorced 2 times and is
currently on her 3rd marriage with a man named Mr. Waythorn. Mr. Waythorn is happy with his new
wife and is not bothered by the fact that she has already been married twice. Certain situations arise so
that Mr. Waythorn bumps into both of Alice s previous husbands. He is uncomfortable meeting them
at first however; he begins to have a new understanding of his wife. When Waythorn meets Mr.

Stock Split Advantages And Disadvantages
STOCK SPLIT:
A stock split is a process in which the number of already issued shares increases without increasing
the market capitalization of the company. In other words, Stock split is nothing but the division of
already issued shares of a firm into a larger number of shares. Stock split increases the number of
outstanding shares while at the same time decreasing face value share price proportionally. i.e, when a
company split its stock 2 for 1, then the number of shares will get double face value, the share price
will become half. The goal of the stock split is to make the stock accessible to as many investors as
possible. A share split will result in all shareholders holding more shares in the company. But, their
stake in the share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, companies split stocks to come over this problem. Stock splits are mainly carried out with the
intention that it should be affordable to small investors which will eventually enhance the liquidity of
the stock. Hence, the main motive is to enhance the liquidity of the stock.
If a company wants to reduce its market price to half, it will issue 2 for 1 stock split which means the
company will issue additional 1 share per 1 share currently issued thereby doubling the total number
of shares. There might be a 3 for 2 stock split, for example, which means that 3 shares are to be issued
for each 2 shares of currently issues shares.
A stock split is usually applied by companies that have seen their share price increase to levels that are
either too high or are beyond the price levels of peer companies. For e.g, ICICI BANK, shares of
ICICI bank used to trade at 1700 in 2014 it s peers like HDFC BANK, KOTAK MAHINDRA etc.
used to trade at half of its price at that time then ICICI came up with a 5 for 1 stock

levels of methylphenidate treatment (placebo, 12.5 cm², 25 cm², 37.5 cm²), as well as two behavioral

condition were measured through a comprehensive system of cost reward components. Participants
were socially rewarded for high scores as well as rewards for meeting weekly goals. These behavioral
modification measures were adjusted to fit both classroom and recreational settings. In the NBM (no

Ed Sullivan s Influence On Popular Culture
Mom, let s watch the Ed Sullivan show. This was one of the most common sayings on the night of
February 9th, 1964 when more than 70 million people watched the Beatles debut on national
television. Ed Sullivan got his start by working as a newspaper columnist, and then later getting
chosen as the host of the variety show Toast of the Town. Which largely influenced popular culture
and the entire music industry through its telecasts of Elvis Presley and the Beatles, and by having all
forms of entertainment appear on the show.

When Ed Sullivan was selected as the host of the Toast of the town, the struggle and problems to get
the show rolling were many. In many American families, the Ed Sullivan show was something that
was an institution and was regularly watched every Sunday night. The reason why it was such a
celebrated part of all American families was because even with awkward gestures Ed Sullivan still
managed to bring an extraordinary variety of the best entertainment to American families. The show
had its first telecast in the summer of 1948, and was produced with a limited budget of only $1375.
The show was one of many quite similar to it that had very short television lives, and so people were
skeptical and didn t expect it to last long at all, but they went for it anyway with only $375 set aside
for talent and the two young stars of the show being Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. In the beginning of
the show, its performers and range of entertainment was limited, but over the years its scope widened
to new forms and variety of entertainment as the name officially changed to the Ed Sullivan show.
Some of the new telecasts and segments came from foreign countries such as Japan, the Soviet Union,
Italy, France, England, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Mexico, Israel, Cuba, and Hong Kong. Some of the
shows were extraordinary in themselves, such as the 90 minute tribute to Irving Berlin, which ended
in true Sullivan fashion with a huge American flag in fireworks and the entire cast singing God Bless

The Threat Of The Tropical Cyclone
Introduction
Throughout the nation, natural, technological, and man made disasters jeopardizes communities as a
whole. Many people rely on their local communities emergency preparedness plans, while they should
be utilizing their knowledge, information provided for them, and using their capabilities to ready
themselves and their families. The outcome that can come from any disastrous event mainly relies on
how you respond to the specific threat, and the steps one takes to minimize the risks of such a
scenario. Being from Florida, I have been subject to several types, and forms, of disasters; but the
most common and the one that can pose one of the greatest threats is the tropical cyclone, also known
as the hurricane. When concerning this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times, these choices can be based on their previous experience and their knowledge of tropical
cyclones. Many families, including my own, that has been a resident of Florida for a multitude of
years has experienced numerous storms and aware of their capabilities. Over the past quarter decade
alone, there have been severe landings that have stricken the Florida Coast line, such as Hurricane
Andrew in 1992, Hurricane Irene in 1999, and the four storms that landed in 2004, Hurricanes
Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne.
All of these landings have convinced many people to seek further knowledge and to conduct better
preparation standards in the inevitability of another landing. In fact, Chris Landsea, through the
National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration Hurricane Research Division states, For the
U.S., the locations that have the highest chances are the following: Miami, Florida 48% ( 2014). This
means that every year Florida, Miami more specifically, has a forty eight percent chance of being hit
by a hurricane. With the high percentage of Florida possibly being struck each year, many residents
have possibly become disillusioned about the possible catastrophic damage these storms can truly
cause.
In addition to the residential firsthand knowledge, and reoccurrence of these natural disasters, another

Even though there are also many advantages of a sole proprietorship, there are other alternative forms
of business organizations that I would recommend, such as a general partnership. A general
partnership is a form of business organization that comes into existence when two or more persons
carry on business together with a view to a profit. In order to form a general partnership, a series of
criteria must be met and understood such as; the partnership must register its name and obtain a
business license, a partner cannot be employed by the partnership, all benefits of the partnership
business must be received by the partners directly, all partners are personally liable for all the
obligations of the business. There are many reasons why I would recommend a general partnership for
Stan, rather than a sole proprietorship. The first reason is because there is an option of a limited
liability partnership, which means that individual partners are not personally liable for the professional
negligence of their partners and some other obligations if certain requirements are met. Another reason
why I would recommend a general partnership is because the partner legislation in each jurisdiction
provides default rules, which is a kind of standard form agreement for the internal organization of a
partnership that applies unless the partners agree to some other arrangement. These default rules limit

Video compression utilizes high computational power. For real time requirements of multimedia
applications faster computations need to be performed. To fulfill such requirements of video
compression a parallel computational algorithm can be implemented. In this thesis, the parallelism of
multi core architecture was exploited using block matching algorithm. The test implementation of the
algorithm was done on MATLAB. The parallel model was designed using OpenMP and its
implementation was tested on multi core architectures. The parallel implementation divides a current
frame into independent macro blocks and each block is allotted to OpenMP section which then assigns
it to a thread for performing the computations. The result of the implementation shows speedier
computations with effective utilization of multi cores. This work suggests a promising approach which
can further be developed and exploited. Keywords motion estimation, block matching algorithm, multi
core architecture, OpenMP, multithreading. I. INTRODUCTION In the present motion estimation

Lactic Acid Energy System
How much should you rest between sets? In my free weight training program for body building I will
show you how long to rest and why.
Believe it or not, the amount of time that you rest between sets has an effect on your training results.
When you are resting less than two minutes between your sets, you are using the lactic acid energy
system. This is a medium duration energy source and is the primary energy source used in most body
building workouts. If you rest longer than 3 minutes between sets, you are using more of the ATP PC
energy system. This is the most powerful energy system for short bursts of exercise. There is one more
energy system called the Aerobic Energy System. Generally, this energy system is used for long
duration, low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The body does not switch from the Lactic Acid Energy System to the ATP PC system at exactly 2
minutes rest between sets. For some people it will be sooner and for some it will be later. Either way,
it is not a sudden change, but rather a gradual changing of the guard with the Aerobic Energy System
helping to bridge the gap between the two.
So what is the best way to manipulate these energy systems for maximum muscle growth? The answer
depends partly on your weight lifting plan, but generally speaking, bodybuilders should spend most of
their training time using the Lactic Acid Energy System. A significant amount of time should be spent
doing heavy weight training with 3 or 4 minutes rest to increase your strength, and the rest of the time
(maybe 70 percent of your training) should be done with rest periods of 90 to 150 seconds rest
between sets.
By training like this, you can build your strength levels during the heavy training with longer rest
periods, and then use that new strength to lift more weight for more reps when you train using the
Lactic Acid Energy System. This will maximize the benefits of each energy system and keep your
body from adapting, which will result in amazing muscle

Muslim Stereotypes Essay
Stereotypes often determine how we see people who are different from us. Stereotypes play such an
important role in our perceptions of others, but what exactly are they? A stereotype is a widely held
but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing (Williams, 2013). In
essence, stereotypes are not limited to different races and ethnicities, but also include: genders, social
classes, cultures and even certain hobbies. In light of the increase of negative attention that Muslims
have been receiving in the media, the stereotypes discussed in this paper will be centered on Muslims.
Specifically, the stereotype that all Muslims are terrorists will be analyzed. Since Islam is a religion
that promotes peace and kindness, one could ask where the stereotype that all Muslims are terrorists
originated. Following the tragedies of September 11, 2001, Arabs and Muslims have been presented as
potential terrorists. This idea stemmed from the theory that, media bias increases when a specific
ethnic, religious, or racial group is seen as a threat to national security. (Stiffler, 2013). Since the
attacks on September 11, 2001 Muslims and Arabs have been hyper visible in the media as potential
terrorists. Due to the negative media attention and failure of most media platforms to ... Show more

Moral Decay Of The Great Gatsby
The inevitable failure of the American Dream and the tragic death of Jay Gatsby conveyed in F. Scott
Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby exemplifies the moral decay of the 1920s. Fitzgerald is critical of
a hedonistic society consumed in materialism, he expresses this through the men and women who
dazzled like champagne and stars at Gatsby s parties, which were taken by the root in society to live
the perfect world of their own. James Gatz achieves his dream of self transformation. He acquires

These were points where society fails to obligate Gatsby s dream. Fitzgerald exposes the American
society and the value of Gatsby to the society. In a society that relies on luxuries, Gatsby throws
parties to attract Daisy s attention. Gatsby expresses his same needs to be keeped busy, just as Daisy
does. Nick describes Gatsby as never quite still, there was always a tapping foot somewhere or the
impatient opening and closing of a hand (Fitzgerald, pg 68). Gatsby fills his house full of interesting
people...who do interesting things (Fitzgerald, pg 96). Taking this issue into consideration, those who
filled Gatsby s house was only there to enjoy the illegal alcohols, music and party. Nevertheless,
Gatsby wasn t ever aware of who walked in or out of his house. He only focused on Daisy s
appearance. Towards the end, Gatsby build his life onto two aspects, the first being is to build
relationships to the wealthy such as Dan Cody or Meyer Wolfsheim for money and the second is two
build relationships to people who are connected to Daisy. However, Gatsby is unable to make social
connections because of his own social awkwardness, which as becomes more and more apparent, he
compensates this with his wealth and possessions. The best example of this is Gatsby s parties, in
which the guests all have an excellent time, and know of Gatsby, but know almost nothing about him,
even to the point where nobody seems to know where he even came from. Gatsby s awkwardness and
fear of real people causes him to close himself off even at his own parties, and hope that somehow the

finger in a come here motion. Slowly but surely increasing the pressure while using your thumb to rub
the lips in a circular motion. Avoid thrusting your fingers in and out at first. Make sure she is enjoying

3. The G Spot
This is the most important part which every guy fails to locate. It s like The Bermuda Triangle inside a

Out of excitement do not try and insert all five fingers, this will only hurt her. Listen to what she is

will feel a bumpy kind of area inside and this is when her moans will be the loudest. Do not slow
down at this point. Continue with the motions and thrusts in a rhythmic pattern slowly building up the

The modernization process has been experienced in different ways by different countries that some of

given an opportunity to earn $1.60. The collection of rocks, clay and small sized coal reduced a miner
s pay. Miners were also forced to do extra work such as laying tracks, pumping water, timbering and
clearing roof falls that were not part of the pay.
6. The living conditions of the miners were worse in comparison to their work environments. Among
many, there were only two mines that had shower facilities for its workers. The miners and their
families referred the mine houses, as hovels in comparison to the village of Bienfait as they were
forced to live in them so as to maintain the status of a permanent employee that guaranteed work for
the miner. The houses were shacks with no lighting, insulation, or plumbing and were often infested

The timeline of the events that occurred before, during and after the Estevan strike of 1931:
 In 1931, there were many people across Canada that were struggling through the Depression. In
Bienfait, Saskatchewan, coal miners were facing a similar struggle. At that time, the price of coal was
lower than it had been in recent years, and the mine workers were facing unsafe working conditions
and lower wages. As new strips of mine opened in Saskatchewan, many workers were faced with a
wage cut of up to 15 percent.
 In July and August of 1931, groups of mine workers secretly gathered to discuss how to resolve the
concerns regarding unsafe working conditions, wage cuts and to how to form a local organization.
 The miners appealed to the Trades and Labour Congress of Canada, anticipating that they would
help them establish a union, but their requests were

Singer Theme
Being raised by a rabbi in a large Jewish neighborhood, Isaac Bashevis Singer uses Jewish beliefs and
themes as the focal point in almost all of his works. As Singer retells many childhood stories in his
memoir In My Father s Court, the idea and motif of forgiveness is constantly used as he witnesses his
father perform many arbitrations. Singer also uses forgiveness as a central theme in his later adult
work, as seen in his short story A Crown of Feathers ; though it is evident through the story that his
view on forgiveness had changed as he grew older. While Singer has retained the theme of forgiveness
in his work, it has matured and darkened as a result of his life experiences. As the son of a rabbi,
Singer was able to see firsthand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through The Purim Gift and To Warsaw, Singer shows how he saw forgiveness as a simple means to a
happy ending. However, as he grew into an adult and the world around him drastically changed,
Singer realized that his beliefs were not as simple as he thought as a child and that there is much more
inner turmoil present needed for forgiveness. This realization came with growing up in a conflict
ridden Europe that culminated in the Holocaust. Singer s perception of forgiveness evolved not only
due to simply growing up, but also possibly because of the Holocaust and its effect on other Jews, as
he was able to avoid it. Singer s relationship with forgiveness shows the complexity of both faith and
emotion and how childhood innocence is

customers.
The Marketing concept holds that the key to achieving the organisational goals lies in determining the
needs and wants of target markets and delivering the desired satisfaction more efficiently and
effectively than the competition [3]. For an organisation to provide products that satisfy customers

Estrangement In Waiting For The Barbarians By David Malouf
The Post colonial genre in litterature deals with several themes such as opression, violence, and
diffrences between civilized folks and uncivilized folks. The two novels understudy are, Waiting for
the Barbarians by J.M Coetzee and Remembering Babylon by David Malouf, each published in 1980
and 1993. It principally deals with the feeling of estrangement a man can feel when he is torn apart
between his nature and his community. It is legitimate to question what leads men to wonder about the
deeds that his community pushes him to do. To what extend a community or a power can bring a man
to a complete estrangement towards his community?
Throughout the novels there are several leitmotive that conduct the two protagonists to a complete
estrangement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also brings the protagonists towards their estrangement.
In Malouf s novel, Gemmy is often deshumanized. Gemmy is described as being part of the other, he
is a scarecrow (3). A black ! That was the boy s first thought. We re being raided by blacks. After so
many false alarms it had come. (2). The reader is brought to see the scene through the eyes of a child,
which also emphasizes the fear. Gemmy is also referred to as it , which shows how much he is
unworthy of being referred to as a human.
Back to Coetzee s novel with the killing and tortures of an old barbarian man and his brutalized
grandson. In the book they are referred as frank and filthy (10) by the magistrate even though the
reader perceives the growing estrangement of the magistrate towards the Empire and their inhuman
deeds. There is also the scene in the book when Colonel Joll beats naked barbarians in front of the
crowd not hatred, not blood lust, but a curiosity so intense that their body are drained by it and only
their eyes live, organs of a new and ravening appetite. (115). Here the magistrate estrangement
towards the event and the empire is at its climax. Describing the scene as an act of atrocity proves that
the magistrate is completely estranged to

Water is pumped into solar panels where it is directly heated by the sun and then pumped into storage
tanks where it is stored. Direct systems are very effective but have a shorter life span when compared
to indirect systems. The reason being is that, the water chemicals erode the pipes and the panels over
time and hence have to be maintained regularly. Water inside the panels can freeze in colder weather
conditions which may result in damaging the system (Choosing a solar geyser, 2010). Figure 1 Direct
System
Advantages of a Direct System
 Service water used directly from collector loop
 No heat exchanger more efficient heat transfer to storage
 Circulation pump needs only to overcome frictional losses.
Disadvantages of a Direct System
 It is only convenient to use them in areas where it rarely freezes and the quality of water must be
really good.
Indirect systems use the same procedure but the geysers in this system have copper pipes that are used
as the heating coil. Water is separated from the water inside the tank by copper pipes in this system.
An antifreeze fluid circulates through the solar panels (Choosing a solar geyser, 2010). The fluid flows
through the collector and then through the copper pipes inside the storage tank. The water is then
indirectly heated. The indirect systems have a longer life span when compared to direct systems as

Jan Van Eyck s Arnolfini Double Portrait In the article Sexuality and Social Standing In Jan van Eyck s Arnolfini Double Portrait the author analyzes the religious and social grammars of marriage. This short paper will be a reflection of Harbison s article that discusses religious and marital norms throughout, with also analyzing various sections of van Eyck s piece, for example: implying the piece as a marriage document or contract of the marriage, which immediately makes the viewer look deeper into the double portrait. All of this helped me realize that pieces of art are not simply pictures, rather they are narratives like a scene in a documentary. The author starts the article with a clear thesis of analyzing the social religious and marital norms when this piece was made. There are different scenes of this portrait that van Eyck s uses throughout to identify social standards of the time this piece was done. The fruit is there to identify the intimacy of marriage. • 6. `` Thought, By Louis H. Sullivan In his essay, Thought, Louis H. Sullivan illustrates the importance of real thinking and creative thinking. He asserts that words are not really necessary to use to express our thoughts. He presents other wordless forms of communication to translate our thoughts into loud expressions. Music, painting, images and other wordless forms are the solution the author suggest, as better forms of communication. Real thinking is better done without words Sullivan argues. Words cut off the inspiration of creative thinking, and disturbs the imagination when someone tries to translate their thoughts into spoken language. According to the author, images are the best way to translate our creative thoughts without the interruption of finding the perfect word to describe an idea. Sullivan attempts to persuade his audience to avoid reading because it deprives them from real thinking: asserting that it must be only done in the present. He discusses that writing is a slow process: many thoughts dissipates as one struggles to put their thoughts into words. Another point that Sullivan argues is that one should only think in the present, and focus in the present alone because the present is the only thing that matters. Sullivan explains, You cannot think in the past, you can only think of the past... you cannot think in the future, you can only think of the future ... One is dead and the other is yet to be born. The production of uranium through hydrometallurgical processes such as leaching, ion exchange, solid liquid separation and solvent extraction has not been without controversy, especially during the early stages of the industry. Nowadays, the industry has changed drastically and a lot more can be done to ensure that safety is a number one priority. 2 Safety issues The process of mining uranium releases radon into the atmosphere as well as other heavy metals if not properly managed. Radon is a colourless, tasteless gas and exposure to high levels can increase the chances of getting cancer. As a result, every country that has nuclear facilities, has regulations to ensure public land, air and water (both surface and groundwater) are protected now and in the future (Vance, 2014). Population regulation differs through out the world based on the particular region. Populations can stabilize through a variety of factors including modern communications, growing affluence, urbanization, family planning and social reforms (Cunningham, 2013). China and the Indian state of Kerala are examples of two very different methods to controlling population expansion. In the past twenty years, total fertility dropped by more than half in China (Cunningham, 2013). The Chinese regulations in place focus more on birth control rather then new social equality. This strategy depends on strongly enforced policies set by the government, determining how many children a Chinese family can produce. Chinese law provides a compulsory limit on reproduction that is punishable by law if an individual exceeds the limits set. The strategy of strict laws with penalization is also combined with an economic incentive for reducing births. A very different strategy regarding population stabilization can be seen in Kerala, India. It involves a social justice strategy that believes social benefits as the solution to family planning. This strategy is based on the assumption that unequal resource allocation is the main problem that leads to a high population in developing countries (Cunningham, 2013). In many American families, the Ed Sullivan show was something that was an institution and was regularly watched every Sunday night. The reason why it was such a celebrated part of all American families was because even with awkward gestures Ed Sullivan still managed to bring an extraordinary variety of the best entertainment to American families. The show had its first telecast in the summer of 1948, and was produced with a limited budget of only $1375. The show was one of many quite similar to it that had very short television lives, and so people were skeptical and didn t expect it to last long at all, but they went for it anyway with only $375 set aside for talent and the two young stars of the show being Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. In the beginning of the show, its performers and range of entertainment was limited, but over the years its scope widened to new forms and variety of entertainment as the name officially changed to the Ed Sullivan show. Some of the new telecasts and segments came from foreign countries such as Japan, the Soviet Union, Italy, France, England, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Mexico, Israel, Cuba, and Hong Kong. The outcome that can come from any disastrous event mainly relies on how you respond to the specific threat, and the steps one takes to minimize the risks of such a scenario. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though there are also many advantages of a sole proprietorship, there are other alternative forms of business organizations that I would recommend, such as a general partnership. A general partnership is a form of business organization that comes into existence when two or more persons carry on business together with a view to a profit. In order to form a general partnership, a series of criteria must be met and understood such as; the partnership must register its name and obtain a business license, a partner cannot be employed by the partnership, all benefits of the partnership business must be received by the partners directly, all partners are personally liable for all the obligations of the business. There are many reasons why I would recommend a general partnership for Stan, rather than a sole proprietorship. The first reason is because there is an option of a limited liability partnership, which means that individual partners are not personally liable for the professional negligence of their partners and some other obligations if certain requirements are met. Another reason why I would recommend a general partnership is because the partner legislation in each jurisdiction provides default rules, which is a kind of standard form agreement for the internal organization of a partnership that applies unless the partners agree to some other arrangement. For real time requirements of multimedia applications faster computations need to be performed. To fulfill such requirements of video compression a parallel computational algorithm can be implemented. In this thesis, the parallelism of multi core architecture was exploited using block matching algorithm. The test implementation of the algorithm was done on MATLAB. The parallel model was designed using OpenMP and its implementation was tested on multi core architectures. The parallel implementation divides a current frame into independent macro blocks and each block is allotted to OpenMP section which then assigns it to a thread for performing the computations. The result of the implementation shows speedier computations with effective utilization of multi cores. This work suggests a promising approach which can further be developed and exploited. This is a medium duration energy source and is the primary energy source used in most body building workouts. Either way, it is not a sudden change, but rather a gradual changing of the guard with the Aerobic Energy System helping to bridge the gap between the two. So what is the best way to manipulate these energy systems for maximum muscle growth? The answer depends partly on your weight lifting plan, but generally speaking, bodybuilders should spend most of their training time using the Lactic Acid Energy System. A significant amount of time should be spent doing heavy weight training with 3 or 4 minutes rest to increase your strength, and the rest of the time (maybe 70 percent of your training) should be done with rest periods of 90 to 150 seconds rest between sets. By training like this, you can build your strength levels during the heavy training with longer rest periods, and then use that new strength to lift more weight for more reps when you train using the Lactic Acid Energy System. Stereotypes play such an important role in our perceptions of others, but what exactly are they? A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing (Williams, 2013). In essence, stereotypes are not limited to different races and ethnicities, but also include: genders, social classes, cultures and even certain hobbies. In light of the increase of negative attention that Muslims have been receiving in the media, the stereotypes discussed in this paper will be centered on Muslims. Specifically, the stereotype that all Muslims are terrorists will be analyzed. Since Islam is a religion that promotes peace and kindness, one could ask where the stereotype that all Muslims are terrorists originated. Following the tragedies of September 11, 2001, Arabs and Muslims have been presented as potential terrorists. This idea stemmed from the theory that, media bias increases when a specific ethnic, religious, or racial group is seen as a threat to national security. (Stiffler, 2013). The two novels understudy are, Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M Coetzee and Remembering Babylon by David Malouf, each published in 1980 and 1993. It principally deals with the feeling of estrangement a man can feel when he is torn apart between his nature and his community. It is legitimate to question what leads men to wonder about the deeds that his community pushes him to do. Back to Coetzee s novel with the killing and tortures of an old barbarian man and his brutalized grandson. In the book they are referred as frank and filthy (10) by the magistrate even though the reader perceives the growing estrangement of the magistrate towards the Empire and their inhuman deeds. Water is pumped into solar panels where it is directly heated by the sun and then pumped into storage tanks where it is stored. Direct systems are very effective but have a shorter life span when compared to indirect systems. The reason being is that, the water chemicals erode the pipes and the panels over time and hence have to be maintained regularly. Water inside the panels can freeze in colder weather conditions which may result in damaging the system (Choosing a solar geyser, 2010). Figure 1 Direct System Advantages of a Direct System  Service water used directly from collector loop  No heat exchanger more efficient heat transfer to storage  Circulation pump needs only to overcome frictional losses. Disadvantages of a Direct System  It is only convenient to use them in areas where it rarely freezes and the quality of water must be really good. Indirect systems use the same procedure but the geysers in this system have copper pipes that are used as the heating coil. Water is separated from the water inside the tank by copper pipes in this system. An antifreeze fluid circulates through the solar panels (Choosing a solar geyser, 2010). The fluid flows through the collector and then through the copper pipes inside the storage tank. The water is then
