Craft Beer Industry
Abstract
As economies slowly improve, large organizations rely on third party logistics (3PL) companies to
play the crucial role of creating innovative solutions in supply chain technology and process
improvement. The supply chain market is optimistic for innovative 3PL companies in bad times and
good regardless of the industry it handles. The ultimate goal of 3PL companies is to enhance visibility
and increase responsiveness along the supply chain. This optimism has enabled new players emerge
into the supply chain distribution market that was dominated by a few key logistics players. This paper
reviews the current state of logistics visibility in the craft beer industry and determines the feasibility
of opening a strategically located third party climate controlled distribution center(s) within the United
States designed to service the expansive growth of the Craft Beer industry. It also addresses any
assumptions for the application of technology and develops an innovation plan to drive supply chain
excellence. This innovative plan is based on the application of Denning s book, the Innovator s Way.
Introduction
The objective of the supply chain visibility in 3rd party logistics innovation plan is to enable local
craft brewers expand their geographic footprints in the US through improved logistics process and
efficient distribution channels provided by Satellite Logistics Group (SLG). The Houston based
company provides innovative complex supply chain solutions in

Comparing Superman And Man Of Steel
In prior Superman movies, it is common knowledge that Superman is a character that resembles
Christ. In Man of Steel, this idea is really apparent in the viewers mind. Much like Christ, mankind
rejects Clark Kent at an early age. The passage from Isaiah, which also relates a lot to Superman,
reads, He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one
from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took
up our pain and bore our suffering.. .He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth: he
was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep beföre its shearers is silent, so he did not open his
mouth. In Man of Steel. Clark grows up as a farmer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a boy, in Clark s core he seems to know he s not of this world, but he realizes he is there for a
purpose/ He cannot restrain himself from helping others and saving lives. All of these things are clear
parallels to the life of
Jesus, whose mother too un erstood she was carrying the savior of mankind. When Jesus
Pidoto 2 was younger, he was rejected just like Superman. Thé two are more similar than what meets
the eye.
(When Clark reaches the age of 33, he encounters a computerized simulation of hiS biological father s
personality. The simulation tells him his purpose in this world is to. lay down your life: It also tells
Clark that he s not from this world but is in the world and therefore embodies both worlds. This is a
parallel to Christ being both Man and God at the same time. The simulation of Clark s father also tells
him he is the bridge between these people to another world. Similarly, Jesus is the bridge, or mediator,
between God and Man. Just like Jesus, who was crucified at age 33, Clark realizes he must save the
world at this same age. When Lois Lane is hurt, Clark tells her he has the ability to heal her, which he
does. Of course, we know Jesus has performed

Indentured Servants In New England
3. Indentured servants were very important to the development of the colonies. In the early years,
there were labor shortages and indentured servants provided cheap labor. By bringing in people with
specialized skills and providing immigration for other who could not afford, indentured servitude
helped the colonies expand. The colonies had a lot of land, and indentured servants made up half the
population (parliament announced that convicts could escape the hangman by relocating to the
colonies.)This led to a quicker progress of initial growth of the colonies. Although this system helped
with the growth of the colonies, it was replaced by the 1700 s with slaves. The reason was that slaves
served for life instead of servants who served for 4 7 years. This was more profitable than buying
servants over and over again. Also, once you owned a slave you owned their children, which was a
bonus because you wouldn t have to buy any more slaves. Overall, slaves replaced servants because
they were more profitable to buy and the supplies of these slaves seemed inexhaustible since there

Colonists participated in international and imperial trade by using the triangular trade. Although, out
of necessity, the colonies sent raw materials, such as fish and fur, to England in exchange for
manufactured goods. In order to protect England s agriculture and fisheries put taxes on goods. This
resulted in the New York and New England to buy more from England than they sold. To avoid this,
the colonies started using their own ships and merchants, this formed the triangular trade. The
triangular trade allowed New Englanders to ship rum to the west coast of Africa, where they
exchanged for slaves; took the enslaved Africans to the West Indies; and returned home with various
commodities, including molasses from which they manufactured rum. The triangular trade allowed the
colonies trade to prosper and for more profit to be

Essay about Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Life in the early 1900 s wasn t easy. Competition for jobs was at an all time high, especially in New
York City. Immigrants were flooding in and needed to find work fast, even if that meant in the hot,
overcrowded conditions of garment factories. Conditions were horrid and disaster was inevitable, and
disaster did strike in March, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York set on fire, killing 146
workers. This is an important event in US history because it helped accomplish the tasks unions and
strikes had tried to accomplish years earlier, It improved working conditions in factories nationwide
and set new safety laws and regulations so that nothing as catastrophic would happen again. The
workplace struggles became public after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wages were very low for the amount of work people were expected to do. People would only make
anywhere from $1.25 $1.50 for the entire 10 12 hour workday. Not only were these wages extremely
low, but employees often lived in expensive company housing which left barely any money for the
other necessities of life. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time period but another
struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the hot overcrowded factories,
only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant from the work crowd and there was
little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the workers were very controlled by the foreman.
The doors were locked on all floors to prevent theft during the day and bathroom breaks would be
monitored by a floor manager. Overall, during the late 1800 s everyone was overworked and
underpaid and this led to many troubles as years went on. Everyone was frustrated with work
conditions and this led to the formations of unions around the country. The Knights of Labor was a
very popular union that led the first major strike in the United States. The year was 1885 and Jay
Gould s Missouri Pacific Railroad was the target. The owner, Jay Gould, had recently cut wages
drastically and fired union members. The Knights led the strike and eventually succeeded to improve
wages for the railroad workers. With this great accomplishment the Knights gained

The High Renaissance
The High Renaissance was more impactful than the Early Renaissance. While the Early Renaissance
provided the foundational skills required for Renaissance art and thinking, the High Renaissance
allowed for artists and their talent to expand and influence other regions. To the average individual,
the Late Renaissance remains the most prominent due to the creative and technical prowess of famous
artists, and the development of Europe s literary and philosophical culture. The High Renaissance is
the main period in which people recall upon hearing of the Renaissance famous Renaissance artists
and works were created during this time. Many of the defining characteristics of Renaissance art, such
as perspective and realism, were refined in their technical forms during the High Renaissance. They
were mastered by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo in Rome under papal
commissions, due to Florence s relevancy declining. The earlier Renaissance contained mostly
rediscoveries of the works created in Antiquity, and the growing stylistic distinctions between ... Show

The Early Renaissance had only ended due to to the death of Lorenzo de Medici, one of the most
influential patrons of the time. Additionally, Girolamo Savonarola, a Dominican friar, influenced most
of Florence to denounce the Medici family and reject all vanities; this included many non religious
works of art. The hostility towards artists and their crafts caused most artists to travel to other city
states, thus spreading the mastery of Renaissance art. Overall, the Renaissance can be split into two
sections: the Early Renaissance, and the Late, or the High Renaissance. The Late Renaissance is a
more refined version of the Early Renaissance; in artistic terms, the Late Renaissance was the mastery
of technical skills founded in the earlier ages, while also an age of literary and philosophical

The Anti-Romani Regime
Despite the past forced assimilation processes, the majority of the Roma remained illiterate, as well as
often excluded from various employment opportunities and dependent on petty theft or begging up to
World War II.
These conditions worsened in the Protectorate. Being an ethnic minority and, by national socialist
standards, classed as racially inferior, the Romani people were a clear target and part of the Third
Reich s goal to purge Europe of all impure races .
Hence, anti Romani propaganda and measures, which would finally turn into a genocide, started soon
after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and continued throughout the war.
On November 11th 1940, when approximately 6 540 Czech Roma were living in the Protectorate,

Sickle Cell Is A Disease
Sickle Cell is a disease that you hear about, but not as often as you should. It is an inherited disease,
the name derives from the red cells in the blood of sufferers and they take on the shape on a sickle
(crescent shape). Another name for sickle cell is sickle cell anemia, because in some cases people
become anemic. With this disease comes low levels of hemoglobin, which is the red substance in your
blood that contains iron and carries oxygen. Due to the irregular shaped cells this can cause blockage
and prevent normal blood flow, this prevents the cells carrying oxygen around the body properly.
Shortage of oxygen can lead to damage that can occur in almost just about any organ in the body.
Sickle cell is found more often in African Americans. It is said that the disease originated from Africa
and most common in West Africa.
As far as treatment is concerned thankfully progression in modern science and medicine these last ten
years have brought greatly improved techniques. One of the first forms of treatment is nitric oxide.
Nitric oxide is a gas that scientists have tested on mice. This has been found to prevent the
dehydration of the cells and the hemoglobin formation of sickle rods. The second possibility is blood
transfusions. Transfusions are essential when dealing with severe cases of the
Paper 2 anemia. The process is called apheresis, which avoids overloading the patient s body with
iron, thus removing damaged cells from circulation. Although this has been

Sandy Hook Massacre Sociological Perspective
The Sandy Hook massacre also, described as one of the deadliest shooting in all U.S history. 20
children and 6 adults were killed on December of 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut. (Connecticut) This
massacre was the earliest memory I could recall on gun violence, not just learning about it but also
watching it unfold and be told on news outlets all over television and social media. The Sandy Hook
massacre shaped my generation by creating a more debatable topic on gun control in the United
States. Through the Sociological point of view, gun violence can be understood by the functionalism,
conflict, and symbolic theoretical approach. While trying to understand such event with such theories,
we begin to unfold how society has shifted and changed over time, how we as a society view gun
violence today and what we have done to prevent such act to happen again. When looking at the
functionalist point of view, which states that everything serves as a particular capacity in our general
public and the capacities should be comprehended. (Ferrante, 2015) Which relates to the gun control
that one needs to view how strict gun policy laws and free weapon control laws will influence society.
The U.S. would be viewed as a nation that has free weapon control laws. Most U.S citizen s can go to

Essay on President Wilson and the Treaty of Versailles
President Wilson and the Treaty of Versailles
President Wilson s righteous views of his efforts were so strong that not even the advice and urging of
his closest confidants could sway his stance. While it is true that opposition forces helped to defeat the
treaty, it was ultimately Wilson s stubbornness that led to its defeat in the Senate.
There were many factors that led to the initial outbreak of World War I in Europe. A constant struggle
to gain the upper hand in the balance of power existed, and it resulted in the formation of many
alliances between European nations. For the most part, these agreements stipulated that the nations
would aid one another if one of them were to be attacked by an enemy. Eventually two distinct ...

official neutrality policy that dated back to the days of George Washington and joined the Allied

and it also signaled America s entrance into the peace negotiations that followed.
During a speech to Congress while the war was still going on, President Woodrow Wilson introduced
his Fourteen Points, which called for a new Europe and a peaceful world. Ideas expressed in the
speech included a policy of open diplomacy with no secret treaties, freedom of the seas, removal of
tariffs, arms reduction, fair colonial policies, as well as several boundary changes in Europe. But most
important of all was point fourteen. This item called for a general association of nations for the
purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and

Sedentary Lifestyle In America
The sedentary lifestyle of so many Americans is really starting to concern me. The average American
now spends more than 8 hours sitting every day. Is this you? That is 122 days per year of sitting!! I
firmly believe that all this sitting is exacting a serious, and previously misunderstood, toll on our
bodies. We have moved from an active, agricultural lifestyle to one of offices and automation. Every
aspect of our day from our meals (drive thru s, delivery) to our jobs (computers) to our home life (TV,
remote controls, computers, shopping online) to our entertainment (plush theater seats) has been
tailored with one priority in mind, our comfort.
Yet, the feeling of comfort is not what people walking though our doors are describing to me. Many
(young and old) are describing what I know to be the repercussions of sedentary behavior resulting in
the muscular compensations and imbalances that follow.
We all must understand that sitting for 8 hours a day can easily put us in the category of sedentary. ...

Stewardship In The Bible
There will be eternal reward and consequences beyond residency in heaven. The judgment time is
called the Bema Seat of Christ or judgment seat of Christ. That day of reckoning is described in the
following three passages: 1 Corinthians 3:12 15, 2 Corinthians 5:10, and Romans 14:10 12. These
passages include a reckoning of more than just financial issues. The above truth is a sobering fact of
Scripture. If Millennials were to internalize these values, it would create a sense of careful calculations
in all matters of life.
After determining that God owns all things and that Christians are accountable to God, it is important
to clarify how the word steward is used in the Bible. In biblical times a steward was a trusted person
given responsibility for someone else s possessions which may include care for livestock, immediate
family members, or servants. , A steward s duty was to manage on behalf of the master with the
purpose to increase the master s resources or influence. Finally, it implied some form of judgment or
reckoning to reward the steward if he was faithful in the management of the entrusted resources.
Often, stewardship is thought of only in terms of finances, but the Bible teaches that stewardship is a
far greater concept, involving how we respond with all of our life. For the purposes of this dissertation
topic, the Project Director acknowledges stewardship includes more than finances but will focus
predominantly on financial stewardship. If the project

In 1600, although the Spanish had most control in Central and South America, they have almost no
control in North America. From 1577 to 1580, English navigator, Francis Drake, circumnavigated the

However, the English failed embarrassingly at their earlier attempts at colonization in the Americas. In

Essay on Rights and Voluntary Euthanasia

Euthanasia Word count 3487
This paper tries to set the issue of voluntary euthanasia in a philosophical framework by showing how
some of the main philosophical theories about morality would deal with the topic. Philosophers have
not discussed euthanasia as such until recently, although it is now a popular topic. What has always
been discussed, however, is suicide, which raises much the same moral problems as voluntary
euthanasia. The moral similarity between voluntary euthanasia and suicide enables us to make a

Terminology is a problem here. Some philosophers confine the term Utilitarianism to the doctrine
expounded in Mill essay of that name, whereby the good consequences are pleasure and the absence
of pain. Others use the term Utilitarianism for Universal Consequentialism in general, since all
versions of this view judge actions by their results their usefulness or utility. I shall adopt this
terminology, which distinguishes different forms of the theory as Hedonistic (pleasure based)
Utilitarianism and Ideal Utilitarianism.
I think that both the Hedonistic and the Ideal Utilitarian would argue that voluntary euthanasia is often
right. The Hedonistic Utilitarian would say that situations often arise in which a person s continued
existence brings more pain than pleasure both to them and to all those who are distressed by their
suffering not to speak of the resources which are being spent on keeping them alive and which would
produce more happiness if used in other ways. The Ideal version of Utilitarianism is even more in tune
with the views of those who advocate the possibility of death with dignity through voluntary
euthanasia. For Ideal Utilitarians can counter the familiar objection to euthanasia that no one who
receives proper expert care need die in pain and distress by saying that the good that they seek is not
mere absence of pain, physical or

Current State of the Union; Analysis of a Political...
When describing the current state of the USA, very little positive language would be used. The more
standard response would be one including an overall negative, and debt describing language. As seen
in Barrack Obama s 2014 State of the Union Address, the president of our nation seemed to
completely disregard the actual state of the union by simply stating that, The state of the union is
sound . This short, vague, and contradicting statement seemed to be blow up the anemic progressions
our nation has made during Obamas presidency. It is safe to say that the description of a sound nation
did not make a connection with many Americans. It left people with more of a sense of confusion to
what the actual situation stands to be. That situation, the current state of our union, would more
appropriately be described as upsetting. Especially when being described by the current president of
over five years who promised to better our nation. Gary McCoy s drawing depicts the not so serious
response to Barack Obama s humorous statement to the current state of the union, and poses the
argument that his remarks no longer send a sense of promise and hope, but more of something to just
roll your eyes at. In the cartoon, President Barack Obama is presented in a stereotypical and degrading

Martin Luther s Influence On Catholicism
For a long time Catholicism was the dominant religion. If you were not a catholic then you did not go
to church, or at least church with a lot of people. Then came a man named Martin Luther. Martin
threw a curveball in the Catholic Church s plan. He pointed out the indulgences being sold by the
Roman Catholic church to fund new buildings and new things for the pope and bishops to have.
Lutheranism is a religion based off of Catholicism with changes done by Martin Luther, a German
Monk and Theologian, he made his points with the 95 theses, and it exposed all the flaws with the
catholic church. Martin Luther was born November 10, 1483 to Hans and Margethe Luther in
Eisleben, Germany. His Father Hans was a copper mine owner. At age 17, the ... Show more content

The ELS was formed in 1918. They have about 21,000 members in the church today. They are a very
conservative lutheran church. They are with the WELS in fellowship, because of their similar beliefs.
The CLC also know as the Church of Lutheran Confession, was formed in 1963. The Church was
formed because of a break up of the Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America,
due to a disagreement about the church principles. The CLC believes that the bible is the only thing
you can look to for religion. The Lutheran Church as a whole has over 72 million members today. As
far as demographics go 71% of that 72 million are white. 8 million of the 72 are in America. In
America the largest clusters of Lutherans are in the Midwest and in the South. In the ELCA the North
Carolina Synod is the 3rd largest Synod within the ELCA.
Catholicism differs from Lutheranism with two main flaws. The flaws that existed back in the 1500s
still exist today. The first is how is one saved and be able to enter heaven? The Lutherans believe that
the scripture tells us our fate. A good quote from the bible that Lutherans use a lot is Romans 3:28
which states we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the

Giglio V. United States Giglio (defendant) and Taliento (co defendant) were thought to be committing
several forgeries. The prosecution presented Taliento with immunity in trade of his testimony against
Giglio. During the trial, Taliento said that the prosecution never offered leniency for his testimony.
Giglio was ultimately convicted. After filing an appeal, Giglio learned of Taliento s offer from the
prosecution. The Supreme Court held that the prosecution violated the Fourteenth Amendment due
process clause when it failed to disclose exculpatory evidence to the defense, even if the individual
prosecutors are unaware of the undisclosed information. Taliento testified that the prosecution had not

Comparing the Mormon Religion to Catholic and Protestant...
Comparing the Mormon Religion to Catholic and Protestant Faiths
The Mormon religion is very unique in many of its doctrine. While technically a Protestant faith, the
Mormons generally share more doctrine with the Catholics. Because of its unique nature, I will be
analyzing the Mormon faith, its history, organization, and doctrine, in comparison with the beliefs held
by both Catholics and Protestants.
Establishment
On April 6, 1980, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (aka the Mormon Church) was
founded. [It is interesting to note that according to Mormon doctrine (Doctrine and Covenants 20:1),
April 6 is the birthday of Jesus Christ.] 10 years prior to this event, in 1820, fourteen year old Joseph

Both Martin Luther and John Wesley shared the belief that Catholic faith had strayed from the truth as
is seen in their respective quotes: I have sought nothing beyond reforming the Church in conformity
with the Holy Scriptures. . . . . . . I simply say that Christianity has ceased to exist among those who
should have preserved it. (Luther and His Times, E.G. Schweibert) and It does not appear that these
extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were common in the Church for more than two or three
centuries. We seldom hear of them after that fatal period when the
Emperor Constantine called himself a Christian; . . . From this time they almost totally ceased; . . . The
Christians had no more of the Spirit of Christ than the other Heathens . . . . This was the real cause
why the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were no longer to be found in the Christian Church;
because the Christians were turned Heathens again, and had only a dead form left. (The Works of John
Wesley, vol. 7)
While the Mormons agree with other Protestants that the Catholic Church had become corrupt with its
indulgences , purchase of church offices, etc., the Mormons differed somewhat in their solution to this
problem. The Protestants sought to reform the problems they saw evident in the Catholic faith. The
Mormons, however, believing that all faiths upon the Earth had fallen away from the true church
established by Christ, sought to restore

The Missing Element Of Self Discipline
PHIL 0012 Tuesday 6 PM Fuwen Tu One Reason to Question Justice: the Missing Element of Self
discipline Whether justice is a good part of living a happy life or not is an important issue to address
in Philosophy. According to Glaucon, there are three kinds of good. The first kind of good is that the
thing is welcomed for its own sake (Lee, 41). This kind of good is good in itself such as pleasure. The
second kind of good is something people desire; it is good in both itself and its consequences . The
third kind of good is that the thing is only good for its consequences but not in itself, such as exercise
and medical treatment. Different from people, who argue that justice may only good in its
consequence or even bad since it compromises personal interests, Socrates argues that justice is good
in its nature just like health (Lee, 153 154). Since justice cannot be seen directly in an individual,
Socrates discusses justice from a large scale the justice in community before goes into individuals.
Socrates argues that the justice in the community is analogous to the justice in an individual. In a
community/state, there are 4 cardinal virtues wisdom, courage, self discipline, and justice. Wisdom is
defined as the people who rule the city the rulers have the knowledge of truth. In other words, the state
has wisdom if the rulers are wise. Courage is defined as the people who keep the city safe the
guardians are able to judge what is worthy of fearing. So the state is

Carroll s created characters for Alice in the Wonderland that also include certain male representations,
which were very commonly seen in the Victorian society. These include March Hares and Mad Hatters
who could be viewed as the way of representing male hostility and attitude towards women of that
time. Being a man, Carroll had to manage his anger because of the regressive desires held by him
(Benson 3). One of the strongest characters in the story was the grinning Cheshire Cat. The cat was
shown to master resolving of all the antipathies caused by Alice, and this made the Cat the saving

Images of Love in Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde Essay...
Images of Love in Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde
The image of love created by Chaucer in Book I of Troilus and Criseyde is one which elicits pity
rather than admiration. Yet, the poet professes to serve and celebrate the God of Love. Is the
superficially motivated but all consuming passion sparked in Troilus meant to serve as a warning to
other lovers or a model? With the presence of several narrative interjections by the poet himself
suggesting a method of interpretation, clearly some emphasis is placed upon an audience s ability to
learn from The double sorwe of Troilus (1). As a cautionary tale, though, perhaps Chaucer attempts to
describe the paradoxes seemingly inseparable from the very concept of love itself, rather ... Show

...every other charge he set at nought (444). Ironically, Troilus, who once mocked other lovers, falls
victim to (is humbled by) the curse or illness of love. Like the other classical and legendary examples
Chaucer provides in Phebus Apollo and Paris, the love which plagues Troilus is described as a
compulsion, a force which is virtually impossible to resist. Troilus often uses the word burning to
describe his passion, likening his love to a fire which, once sparked, will rage out of his control. The
anguish from this unrequited but constant fire brings Troilus to contemplate and even wish for death
as a release. Though Pandarus offers his advice and promises Troilus a happy resolution, the seeds of
the tragedy to come seem to be sewn into this self destructive notion of love.
Rather than presenting love as a unified concept or code of behavior to be imitated, Chaucer
understands well that love is capable of housing contradictory, even radically opposed, ideas. For
thilke grownd that bereth weeds wikke/ Bereth eh thise holsom herbes... (946 7). Perhaps it is a sense
of this underlying paradox which Chaucer hopes to convey to his audience. Perhaps, further, he hopes
to suggest that the social conventions surrounding love in his era help to create the dangerous form of
love seen in Troilus. Questions, though not necessarily these ones, are encouraged by the poem itself.

Extreme Muscle Sore Research Paper
You probably remember the first time you started a workout program. You shocked the body with a
series of movements that it was unaccustomed to and you were likely very sore for days afterward.
That soreness was an indication that you were stressing the body in ways that it hadn t been
challenged in some time. You worked some long neglected muscles and that work was clearly evident
by how you felt for the next few days. The unfortunate consequence of that obvious cause and effect
relationship is that many people only associate an effective workout with how sore their muscles are
in the days that follow. They can come to believe that their workout was somehow ineffective if they
can spring out of bed the next day with no ill effects. It s no secret that in order to build muscle you
need to tear it down first (by lifting weights) so that you stimulate repair and growth. The extent of the
that breakdown does not need to be so much that you cannot walk the next day. Long lasting, extreme
muscle soreness, or DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness), can be counter productive if experienced
frequently. In all likelihood you re not recovering enough before your next workout and thus your
performance may suffer and you ll just induce further damage that may take even longer to recover
from. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Study A Year After The Repeal Of Dadt
A study by the Palm Center, a research branch from the University of California Los Angeles Law
School, conducted a study a year after the repeal of DADT. The research group wanted to discover
what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they concluded: (1)
The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component
dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale. (2) A
comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported
the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that
included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to
experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of
open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to
have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by
the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has
remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. There was no mass exodus of
military members as a result of repeal, and there were only two verifiable resignations linked to the
policy change, both military chaplains. Service members were as likely to say that they plan to re
enlist after DADT repeal as

In my teaching I privileged the ethical voice, neglecting undoubtedly a wanton voice, dissolving the
other into lust by its delicacy and splendor (Paglia 190). But now that I have read Sexual Personae I
can no longer absolve myself of guilt for the pornographic eye in Spenser always wins (192).
As a maverick literary critic, Paglia resists easy categorization. She rejects certain assumptions of
contemporary criticism which substitutes political criteria for esthetic values. (It is easier to devise a
quota system for the canon and its priesthood than to worship together). But her appreciation of
Spenser is based upon a central tenant of deconstructionism: suspicion of the text. Paglia asserts that
The Faerie Queene is didactic but also self pleasuring (190). Spenser does not say what he means, for
imagination can overwhelm moral intention (191). In other words, the visual fireworks generated by
the poet contradict his intended message, that of showing us how to achieve holiness in the midst of a
perverse world. The fight against evil stimulates rather than quenches the desires of the flesh.
A serious charge indeed. No less surprising is Paglia s comparison of Spenser with Chaucer who
opposes extremism in all things (172). The earthy, natural Chaucer who accepts humanity with all its
foibles is seen as more Christian than Spenser with his dazzling quest for virtue. Apparently Spenser
glories, like Paglia, in an aristocratic,

The Process Of Ancient Egyptian Embalming
Ancient Egyptian embalming was a very sacred process performed by experienced embalmers.
Ancient Egyptians used to bury the deceased underground, but because of that they decayed faster in a
coffin when they aren t exposed to the hot sand of the desert. That is how they developed the process
of embalming to preserve the bodies. The process begins where the body is taken into an ibu , a tent
also known as the place of purification . That is where the embalmers wash the body in palm wine and
rinse it off with water from the Nile. The next step is when one of the men makes a small cut in the
left side of the body and removes the liver, lungs, stomach and also intestines. It is important to
remove these internal organs because they are one of the fastest to decompose. These internal organs
are then washed and packed in natron, a mineral salt that contains hydrated sodium carbonate. The
natron will dry out the organs. The heart is not taken out because Egyptians believed that the heart was
the center of intelligence and feeling and the body will need it in the afterlife. Then, a long hook is
inserted into the nose to smash the brain and pull it out the same way. The body will now be covered
and stuffed with natron to dry it out. All of the rags and fluids that were used in the process are buried
with the body. After forty more days, the body is then washed again and covered in oils to keep the
skin elastic. The organs that are dehydrated are wrapped in linen then returned to

Throughout the novel, The Sisters Brothers by Patrick Dewitt, the two brothers, Eli and Charlie, are

Eli is a more likable character than Charlie since the reader has more access to Eli s emotions as the
story is written through Eli s eyes. The writer uses the first person point of view writing style to allow
the reader to gain an insight into Eli s thoughts. It also allows the reader to follow him through other

created the basis for the first practical telephone switch that would later develop into a large scale
system that could hold many phone lines at once. Strowger s original switch had a 10x10 contact bank
that allowed it to hold up to 100 different telephones. That doesn t seem like a lot but based on the

Generation X And Millennials In The Workplace
Every work environment is teeming with people from various generations. Though, the majority of
people wish for a healthy work environment this is not the easiest to come by. People from these
different generations have different ways of looking at the world. They were raised differently and
though theoretically want the same things they want to reach these goals in different ways. Rising to
leadership, the understanding of technology, adapting in the workplace, and communication are the
four criteria you need to know to understand how the people of Generation X and Millennials function
together in the workplace. In a work environment everybody wants to climb the totem pole. For
Millennials, they want to rise to leadership without working too hard for it. They are trying to reach
the leadership positions as fast as they can and at times they are unprepared for the position they enter
because they have not experienced enough along the way. Where Millennials are too fast to rise to
leadership, people considered to be Generation X, who are known for their hard work ethic and
experience are often complacent in the workplace. Though they gained their experience (unlike
Millennials) by working their way up the chain of command and gradually paying their dues and
though they also do not expect to be handed a higher position, like Millennials who feel entitled to
higher positions in the workplace, they are also not as motivated as Millennials. (Bresman) To

ABSTRACT
Corporate social responsibility is a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental
concerns in their business activities and in interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis. In
this global context, voluntary social and environmental practices of business, going beyond companies
existing legal obligations, can play a major role in filling the governance gap in an innovative way.

caution must be used to set your eyes on one style. The DEC management style, where in the sense
that winning is the ultimate objective of your battle, and yelling your point across is the best way of
doing this, is not the best style. The Ciba Geigy style is excellent in communication with lateral
movement, however the lateral parts must integrate and perform as one singular unit. However, the
hierarchy of family structure is interesting. The subordinates must feel the compassion and
understanding of a family structure, but also must recognize the hierarchy of the chain of the
command. To call an athletics department a democracy would be a bit much. However, to have a
council and discussion then to make a decision based on the collective benefits of all is the way my
athletics department would be.

A Comparison Of Fences By August Wilson
The set and setting of a story has a significant impact on a story s plot. The setting establishes mood,
situation, and character (Mays 164). It tells you a lot about a character by revealing the character s
personality throughout the story. Setting also creates a strong emotion throughout the story, that the
audience can understand. In the film and play Fences by August Wilson we can see the impact of
setting in both versions of the story. The setting and characterization of the play and movie changes in
certain scenes, allowing the audience to make a comparison of the two. Overall, the film does a better
job depicting set and characterization.
Wilson s description of the set itself is very significant because it gives the reader a ... Show more

The rain and thundering outside during this scene made it the more powerful; it helped the viewer
understand that something serious was happening, and allowed the viewer to empathize.
Even though Troy wasn t fair to his wife, he took care of his family as a man should. He took care of
his sons with all that he had, but the love for his family was not evident in his character, especially
with what he did to Rose. Cheating on Rose was a very selfish, and disrespectful act that showed no
love towards his family. Troy s behavior stems from the relationship he had with his father when he
was a teenager. Without him knowing, Troy was very similar to his father, which was depicted very
well in the film. Troy s father stayed right there with his family. But he was just as evil as he could be
(Wilson 905). Troy s description of his father was the same person he was. In his conversation with
Cory he says to him, like you? I go out of here every morning...bust my butt...putting up with them
crackers everyday... cause I like you? You about the biggest fool I ever saw. It s my job. It s my
responsibility! You understand that? A man got to take care of his family (898). This scene in the
movie showed more passion. A reader can read this scene in the play with whichever tone they choose,
but in the movie, we are able to see the and feel the passion from what Troy was

Neutral Gender Bathroom Controversy
It is 2016, and today s society has become a more diverse community than ever. Although more people
have become open minded there is still one issue that is considered to be controversial. The issue
among transgender people, and the creation of neutral gender bathroom. This issue has become
controversial between the transgender community and the government. The reason behind this
problem is that the transgender community in the recent years has gain momentum in being accepted
by society, but not the government. In my case, I believe that the creation of neutral gender bathroom
can bring a negative impact both psychological discomfort and physical danger to the population.
The word transgender has become a common one in today s society. Especially after an article
published by The Washington Post, where it talked about a case in Virginia, where a high school
transgender student named Gavin Grimm, sued his highschool board, alleging that the policy violated
his civils right . The article also informs that the case reached the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th
Circuit. The case resulted in Gavin having to go to the girl s bathroom. This case took by storm almost
every media in the U.S., as well as more cases related to transgender people spread through the news
media, as well as appearing in John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
can be a bad idea. The reason for this is because we already have enough problems with people like
the sex offender and the pedophiles, who target these areas to attack their victims. An article from
SoCawlage, that talked about the creation of neutral gender bathroom and its effect, it stated about the
neutral gender bathroom the following: [h]erein lies the biggest danger with neutral bathrooms a
potential for more sexual assault, and certainly more harassment . This mean that for the good of the
people and their security, the prohibition of neutral bathroom will help to avoid the rapes and

Astronauts and the Effects of Space
Astronauts and the Effects of Space Space, an unknown and endless abyss full of mystery and wonder.
A beautiful domicile that, as humans, peaks our curiosity. As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat ,
when it comes to traveling to space, humans are slowly dying from their curiosity. Space is a
dangerous place, full of mental and physical altering effects. Astronauts, the deep sea divers of space,
must train for years to get use to the effects of space. Space is virtually the exact opposite than the
home we know as Earth. Humans, along with all organisms on Earth, were created on Earth for Earth
and when we dare explore a place without the same environment, we are asking for complications.
When a human is exposed to the vacuum of space, we die within minutes. Over the years scientists
have developed technologies that help protect us against the deadly features of space, but in reality it
only shields us from about fifty percent of all of the harmful effects. Weightlessness changes us
physically, while isolation alters us mentally. Space changes the life of any human including the way
we travel from place to place, our sleeping and eating habits, and the amount of exercise needed.
Traveling to space has many effects on humans both mentally and physically, which is why they
endure intensive training and need technology to survive, but even so, die slowly in its clutches.
The Vacuum of Space In the vacuum of space, excluding the technology that shields us, no organism

Disadvantages Of Development
Development is a broad concept that includes social, economic, political and human aspects. Human
development consists of the foundation on which the first three aspects .According to Burkey (1993:
38), economic and political development should be translated into social development. As
development is a broad concept, it has been extensively explored with a view to realize that economic
growth and social development. However, the emphasis moved from industrial and economic
development as the factors that determine societal transformations. Economic growth may bring
material gain to the people, but development is about enrichment of the lives of the people in the
society Edwards (1993:80) this means that development is much more important to a country than
economic growth only because when people are not empowered and developed it takes us back to the
theory of development which explains that empowerment and ... Show more content on

In addition, the policies have been criticized in terms of their effectiveness in meeting the narrow
objectives set by the IMF. Under half those accepting IMF loans achieve their balance of payments
and inflation objectives, and only one fifth achieve their growth targets, Hodd (1987:336) This
assessment of the financial institutions shows that they do assist in Africa with their balance of
payments at that time but in the long run it causes debts for the African states as they will have to pay
the loan bank with interest. When the loan is paid with interest, it draws back the states and this means
that they will be focusing on paying the IMF loan instead of developing their countries and the
problem is that the payment period for this loan is very short which puts pressure for the states to pay
back the

  • 3. Craft Beer Industry Abstract As economies slowly improve, large organizations rely on third party logistics (3PL) companies to play the crucial role of creating innovative solutions in supply chain technology and process improvement. The supply chain market is optimistic for innovative 3PL companies in bad times and good regardless of the industry it handles. The ultimate goal of 3PL companies is to enhance visibility and increase responsiveness along the supply chain. This optimism has enabled new players emerge into the supply chain distribution market that was dominated by a few key logistics players. This paper reviews the current state of logistics visibility in the craft beer industry and determines the feasibility of opening a strategically located third party climate controlled distribution center(s) within the United States designed to service the expansive growth of the Craft Beer industry. It also addresses any assumptions for the application of technology and develops an innovation plan to drive supply chain excellence. This innovative plan is based on the application of Denning s book, the Innovator s Way. Introduction The objective of the supply chain visibility in 3rd party logistics innovation plan is to enable local craft brewers expand their geographic footprints in the US through improved logistics process and efficient distribution channels provided by Satellite Logistics Group (SLG). • 4. Comparing Superman And Man Of Steel In prior Superman movies, it is common knowledge that Superman is a character that resembles Christ. In Man of Steel, this idea is really apparent in the viewers mind. Much like Christ, mankind rejects Clark Kent at an early age. The passage from Isaiah, which also relates a lot to Superman, reads, He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering.. .He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth: he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep beföre its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. • 5. Indentured Servants In New England 3. Indentured servants were very important to the development of the colonies. In the early years, there were labor shortages and indentured servants provided cheap labor. By bringing in people with specialized skills and providing immigration for other who could not afford, indentured servitude helped the colonies expand. The colonies had a lot of land, and indentured servants made up half the population (parliament announced that convicts could escape the hangman by relocating to the colonies.)This led to a quicker progress of initial growth of the colonies. Although this system helped with the growth of the colonies, it was replaced by the 1700 s with slaves. The reason was that slaves served for life instead of servants who served for 4 7 years. This was more profitable than buying servants over and over again. Also, once you owned a slave you owned their children, which was a bonus because you wouldn t have to buy any more slaves. Overall, slaves replaced servants because they were more profitable to buy and the supplies of these slaves seemed inexhaustible since there population was matching the number of whites at that time and ... The triangular trade allowed New Englanders to ship rum to the west coast of Africa, where they exchanged for slaves; took the enslaved Africans to the West Indies; and returned home with various commodities, including molasses from which they manufactured rum. Immigrants were flooding in and needed to find work fast, even if that meant in the hot, overcrowded conditions of garment factories. Conditions were horrid and disaster was inevitable, and disaster did strike in March, 1911. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York set on fire, killing 146 workers. People would only make anywhere from $1.25 $1.50 for the entire 10 12 hour workday. Not only were these wages extremely low, but employees often lived in expensive company housing which left barely any money for the other necessities of life. Nobody was satisfied with the wages during this time period but another struggle was the long hours. People worked 60 80 hour work weeks in the hot overcrowded factories, only doing one monotonous job. Lastly, the boss was very distant from the work crowd and there was little to no contact between the two groups. Also, the workers were very controlled by the foreman. The doors were locked on all floors to prevent theft during the day and bathroom breaks would be monitored by a floor manager. Overall, during the late 1800 s everyone was overworked and underpaid and this led to many troubles as years went on. Everyone was frustrated with work conditions and this led to the formations of unions around the country. The Knights of Labor was a very popular union that led the first major strike in the United States. The year was 1885 and Jay Gould s Missouri Pacific Railroad was the target. • 7. The High Renaissance The High Renaissance was more impactful than the Early Renaissance. While the Early Renaissance provided the foundational skills required for Renaissance art and thinking, the High Renaissance allowed for artists and their talent to expand and influence other regions. To the average individual, the Late Renaissance remains the most prominent due to the creative and technical prowess of famous artists, and the development of Europe s literary and philosophical culture. The High Renaissance is the main period in which people recall upon hearing of the Renaissance famous Renaissance artists and works were created during this time. Many of the defining characteristics of Renaissance art, such as perspective and realism, were refined in their technical forms during the High Renaissance. Another name for sickle cell is sickle cell anemia, because in some cases people become anemic. With this disease comes low levels of hemoglobin, which is the red substance in your blood that contains iron and carries oxygen. The Sandy Hook massacre shaped my generation by creating a more debatable topic on gun control in the United States. Through the Sociological point of view, gun violence can be understood by the functionalism, conflict, and symbolic theoretical approach. While trying to understand such event with such theories, we begin to unfold how society has shifted and changed over time, how we as a society view gun violence today and what we have done to prevent such act to happen again. When looking at the functionalist point of view, which states that everything serves as a particular capacity in our general public and the capacities should be comprehended. • 16. Stewardship In The Bible There will be eternal reward and consequences beyond residency in heaven. The judgment time is called the Bema Seat of Christ or judgment seat of Christ. That day of reckoning is described in the following three passages: 1 Corinthians 3:12 15, 2 Corinthians 5:10, and Romans 14:10 12. These passages include a reckoning of more than just financial issues. The above truth is a sobering fact of Scripture. If Millennials were to internalize these values, it would create a sense of careful calculations in all matters of life. After determining that God owns all things and that Christians are accountable to God, it is important to clarify how the word steward is used in the Bible. In biblical times a steward was a trusted person given responsibility for someone else s possessions which may include care for livestock, immediate family members, or servants. , A steward s duty was to manage on behalf of the master with the purpose to increase the master s resources or influence. Finally, it implied some form of judgment or reckoning to reward the steward if he was faithful in the management of the entrusted resources. Often, stewardship is thought of only in terms of finances, but the Bible teaches that stewardship is a far greater concept, involving how we respond with all of our life. For the purposes of this dissertation topic, the Project Director acknowledges stewardship includes more than finances but will focus predominantly on financial stewardship. If the project ... Some philosophers confine the term Utilitarianism to the doctrine expounded in Mill essay of that name, whereby the good consequences are pleasure and the absence of pain. Others use the term Utilitarianism for Universal Consequentialism in general, since all versions of this view judge actions by their results their usefulness or utility. I shall adopt this terminology, which distinguishes different forms of the theory as Hedonistic (pleasure based) Utilitarianism and Ideal Utilitarianism. I think that both the Hedonistic and the Ideal Utilitarian would argue that voluntary euthanasia is often right. The Hedonistic Utilitarian would say that situations often arise in which a person s continued existence brings more pain than pleasure both to them and to all those who are distressed by their suffering not to speak of the resources which are being spent on keeping them alive and which would produce more happiness if used in other ways. The Ideal version of Utilitarianism is even more in tune with the views of those who advocate the possibility of death with dignity through voluntary euthanasia. For Ideal Utilitarians can counter the familiar objection to euthanasia that no one who receives proper expert care need die in pain and distress by saying that the good that they seek is not mere absence of pain, physical or ... The more standard response would be one including an overall negative, and debt describing language. As seen in Barrack Obama s 2014 State of the Union Address, the president of our nation seemed to completely disregard the actual state of the union by simply stating that, The state of the union is sound . This short, vague, and contradicting statement seemed to be blow up the anemic progressions our nation has made during Obamas presidency. It is safe to say that the description of a sound nation did not make a connection with many Americans. It left people with more of a sense of confusion to what the actual situation stands to be. That situation, the current state of our union, would more appropriately be described as upsetting. Especially when being described by the current president of over five years who promised to better our nation. Gary McCoy s drawing depicts the not so serious response to Barack Obama s humorous statement to the current state of the union, and poses the argument that his remarks no longer send a sense of promise and hope, but more of something to just roll your eyes at. Lutheranism is a religion based off of Catholicism with changes done by Martin Luther, a German Monk and Theologian, he made his points with the 95 theses, and it exposed all the flaws with the catholic church. While technically a Protestant faith, the Mormons generally share more doctrine with the Catholics. Because of its unique nature, I will be analyzing the Mormon faith, its history, organization, and doctrine, in comparison with the beliefs held by both Catholics and Protestants. Establishment On April 6, 1980, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints (aka the Mormon Church) was founded. Both Martin Luther and John Wesley shared the belief that Catholic faith had strayed from the truth as is seen in their respective quotes: I have sought nothing beyond reforming the Church in conformity with the Holy Scriptures. . . . . . . I simply say that Christianity has ceased to exist among those who should have preserved it. (Luther and His Times, E.G. Schweibert) and It does not appear that these extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were common in the Church for more than two or three centuries. We seldom hear of them after that fatal period when the Emperor Constantine called himself a Christian; . . . From this time they almost totally ceased; . . . The Christians had no more of the Spirit of Christ than the other Heathens . . . . This was the real cause why the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Ghost were no longer to be found in the Christian Church; because the Christians were turned Heathens again, and had only a dead form left. (The Works of John Wesley, vol. 7) While the Mormons agree with other Protestants that the Catholic Church had become corrupt with its indulgences , purchase of church offices, etc., the Mormons differed somewhat in their solution to this problem. The Protestants sought to reform the problems they saw evident in the Catholic faith. • 24. The Missing Element Of Self Discipline PHIL 0012 Tuesday 6 PM Fuwen Tu One Reason to Question Justice: the Missing Element of Self discipline Whether justice is a good part of living a happy life or not is an important issue to address in Philosophy. According to Glaucon, there are three kinds of good. The first kind of good is that the thing is welcomed for its own sake (Lee, 41). This kind of good is good in itself such as pleasure. The second kind of good is something people desire; it is good in both itself and its consequences . The third kind of good is that the thing is only good for its consequences but not in itself, such as exercise and medical treatment. Different from people, who argue that justice may only good in its consequence or even bad since it compromises personal interests, Socrates argues that justice is good in its nature just like health (Lee, 153 154). Since justice cannot be seen directly in an individual, Socrates discusses justice from a large scale the justice in community before goes into individuals. Socrates argues that the justice in the community is analogous to the justice in an individual. In a community/state, there are 4 cardinal virtues wisdom, courage, self discipline, and justice. Wisdom is defined as the people who rule the city the rulers have the knowledge of truth. In other words, the state has wisdom if the rulers are wise. Courage is defined as the people who keep the city safe the guardians are able to judge what is worthy of fearing. So the state is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Images of Love in Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde Essay... Images of Love in Chaucer s Troilus and Criseyde The image of love created by Chaucer in Book I of Troilus and Criseyde is one which elicits pity rather than admiration. Yet, the poet professes to serve and celebrate the God of Love. Is the superficially motivated but all consuming passion sparked in Troilus meant to serve as a warning to other lovers or a model? With the presence of several narrative interjections by the poet himself suggesting a method of interpretation, clearly some emphasis is placed upon an audience s ability to learn from The double sorwe of Troilus (1). As a cautionary tale, though, perhaps Chaucer attempts to describe the paradoxes seemingly inseparable from the very concept of love itself, rather ... Like the other classical and legendary examples Chaucer provides in Phebus Apollo and Paris, the love which plagues Troilus is described as a compulsion, a force which is virtually impossible to resist. Troilus often uses the word burning to describe his passion, likening his love to a fire which, once sparked, will rage out of his control. The anguish from this unrequited but constant fire brings Troilus to contemplate and even wish for death as a release. Though Pandarus offers his advice and promises Troilus a happy resolution, the seeds of the tragedy to come seem to be sewn into this self destructive notion of love. Rather than presenting love as a unified concept or code of behavior to be imitated, Chaucer understands well that love is capable of housing contradictory, even radically opposed, ideas. For thilke grownd that bereth weeds wikke/ Bereth eh thise holsom herbes... (946 7). Perhaps it is a sense of this underlying paradox which Chaucer hopes to convey to his audience. • 29. Extreme Muscle Sore Research Paper You probably remember the first time you started a workout program. You shocked the body with a series of movements that it was unaccustomed to and you were likely very sore for days afterward. That soreness was an indication that you were stressing the body in ways that it hadn t been challenged in some time. You worked some long neglected muscles and that work was clearly evident by how you felt for the next few days. The unfortunate consequence of that obvious cause and effect relationship is that many people only associate an effective workout with how sore their muscles are in the days that follow. They can come to believe that their workout was somehow ineffective if they can spring out of bed the next day with no ill effects. It s no secret that in order to build muscle you need to tear it down first (by lifting weights) so that you stimulate repair and growth. The extent of the that breakdown does not need to be so much that you cannot walk the next day. The research group wanted to discover what impacts the repeal has done to the military and according to their findings they concluded: (1) The repeal of DADT has had no overall negative impact on military readiness or its component dimensions, including cohesion, recruitment, retention, assaults, harassment or morale. (2) A comparison of 2011 pre repeal and 2012 post repeal survey data shows that service members reported the same level of military readiness after DADT repeal as before it. (3) Even in those units that included openly LGB service members, and that consequently should have been the most likely to experience a drop in cohesion as a result of repeal, cohesion did not decline after the new policy of open service was put into place. In fact, greater openness and honesty resulting from repeal seem to have promoted increased understanding, respect and acceptance. (4) Recruitment was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. In an era when enlistment standards are tightening, service wide recruitment has remained robust. (5) Retention was unaffected by the repeal of DADT. There was no mass exodus of military members as a result of repeal, and there were only two verifiable resignations linked to the policy change, both military chaplains. As a maverick literary critic, Paglia resists easy categorization. She rejects certain assumptions of contemporary criticism which substitutes political criteria for esthetic values. (It is easier to devise a quota system for the canon and its priesthood than to worship together). But her appreciation of Spenser is based upon a central tenant of deconstructionism: suspicion of the text. Paglia asserts that The Faerie Queene is didactic but also self pleasuring (190). Spenser does not say what he means, for imagination can overwhelm moral intention (191). In other words, the visual fireworks generated by the poet contradict his intended message, that of showing us how to achieve holiness in the midst of a perverse world. The fight against evil stimulates rather than quenches the desires of the flesh. A serious charge indeed. No less surprising is Paglia s comparison of Spenser with Chaucer who opposes extremism in all things (172). Ancient Egyptians used to bury the deceased underground, but because of that they decayed faster in a coffin when they aren t exposed to the hot sand of the desert. That is how they developed the process of embalming to preserve the bodies. The process begins where the body is taken into an ibu , a tent also known as the place of purification . That is where the embalmers wash the body in palm wine and rinse it off with water from the Nile. The next step is when one of the men makes a small cut in the left side of the body and removes the liver, lungs, stomach and also intestines. It is important to remove these internal organs because they are one of the fastest to decompose. One must balance different sports, while keeping in mind the importance of certain sports and the importance of others. One must keep focus throughout the programs in general. Along with the general descriptions, one must steady the academic function and NCAA guidelines, keeping the program in equilibrium. The DEC management style, where in the sense that winning is the ultimate objective of your battle, and yelling your point across is the best way of doing this, is not the best style. Overall, the film does a better job depicting set and characterization. Wilson s description of the set itself is very significant because it gives the reader a ... The rain and thundering outside during this scene made it the more powerful; it helped the viewer understand that something serious was happening, and allowed the viewer to empathize. Even though Troy wasn t fair to his wife, he took care of his family as a man should. He took care of his sons with all that he had, but the love for his family was not evident in his character, especially with what he did to Rose. Cheating on Rose was a very selfish, and disrespectful act that showed no love towards his family. Troy s behavior stems from the relationship he had with his father when he was a teenager. Without him knowing, Troy was very similar to his father, which was depicted very well in the film. Troy s father stayed right there with his family. But he was just as evil as he could be (Wilson 905). Troy s description of his father was the same person he was. In his conversation with Cory he says to him, like you? I go out of here every morning...bust my butt...putting up with them crackers everyday... cause I like you? You about the biggest fool I ever saw. It s my job. It s my responsibility! You understand that? A man got to take care of his family (898). This scene in the movie showed more passion. In my case, I believe that the creation of neutral gender bathroom can bring a negative impact both psychological discomfort and physical danger to the population. The word transgender has become a common one in today s society. Especially after an article published by The Washington Post, where it talked about a case in Virginia, where a high school transgender student named Gavin Grimm, sued his highschool board, alleging that the policy violated his civils right . Space is a dangerous place, full of mental and physical altering effects. Astronauts, the deep sea divers of space, must train for years to get use to the effects of space. Space is virtually the exact opposite than the home we know as Earth. Humans, along with all organisms on Earth, were created on Earth for Earth and when we dare explore a place without the same environment, we are asking for complications. When a human is exposed to the vacuum of space, we die within minutes. Over the years scientists have developed technologies that help protect us against the deadly features of space, but in reality it only shields us from about fifty percent of all of the harmful effects. Weightlessness changes us physically, while isolation alters us mentally. Space changes the life of any human including the way we travel from place to place, our sleeping and eating habits, and the amount of exercise needed. Traveling to space has many effects on humans both mentally and physically, which is why they endure intensive training and need technology to survive, but even so, die slowly in its clutches. The Vacuum of Space In the vacuum of space, excluding the technology that shields us, no organism ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Disadvantages Of Development Development is a broad concept that includes social, economic, political and human aspects. Human development consists of the foundation on which the first three aspects .According to Burkey (1993: 38), economic and political development should be translated into social development. As development is a broad concept, it has been extensively explored with a view to realize that economic growth and social development. However, the emphasis moved from industrial and economic development as the factors that determine societal transformations. Economic growth may bring material gain to the people, but development is about enrichment of the lives of the people in the society Edwards (1993:80) this means that development is much more important to a country than economic growth only because when people are not empowered and developed it takes us back to the theory of development which explains that empowerment and ... Under half those accepting IMF loans achieve their balance of payments and inflation objectives, and only one fifth achieve their growth targets, Hodd (1987:336) This assessment of the financial institutions shows that they do assist in Africa with their balance of payments at that time but in the long run it causes debts for the African states as they will have to pay the loan bank with interest. When the loan is paid with interest, it draws back the states and this means that they will be focusing on paying the IMF loan instead of developing their countries and the problem is that the payment period for this loan is very short which puts pressure for the states to pay back the ...
