Your team, becomes your second family when times get hard and a support system when you need
someone to be there for you. You experience pain, lose and triumph with every single one of your
teammates by your side. On the field or court, it doesn t matter what clique or group of friends you
belong to, your team always accepts you with all your flaws and imperfections. In a post called What
Does It Mean To Be A Teammate? Carley Hopton shares that, Being a teammate is a special privilege;
you have an opportunity to be part of something special with others who share similar interests. When
I think of being a teammate, I think about being supportive no matter what and being open to
communication (Hopton). A good teammate should always be willing to stay after practice or help
other girls or boys that may be struggling with a certain drill and or technique. Sometimes, athletes
prefer to receive feedback and constructive criticism from teammates. As a team, you grow together
and as individuals you push each other to go one step further. Being apart of something special makes

Family Therapy In The Film The Laramie Project
The film The Laramie Project discusses the truth behind the horrific death of one of the worst
documented anti gay hate crimes in American history. Prior to his death, Matthew Shepard, was
attending the University of Wyoming, he had a great interest in political affairs, and was known to be
an outstanding member of the community. On the night of October 6, 1998, upon leaving a bar in
Laramie, Wyoming, Matthew Shepard was robbed, tortured, continuously beaten and terrorized by
Russel Henderson and Aaron McKinney. According to the transcripts from over 200 people in the
town of Laramie reported that many individuals in this particular town were raised not to agree with
homosexuality, although many of them also reported that even though they ... Show more content on

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), psychologists provide services with
populations and in areas only within the boundaries of their competence, based on their education,
training, supervised experience, consultation study, or professional experience, together with
safeguarding my understanding of factors associated with age, gender, gender identity, sexual

unfair discrimination or harassment based on age, gender, gender identify, sexual orientation, etc.
(APA, 2017, 3.01, 3.03). Thus, although in this case I would be treating Matthew s parents or family,
they were deeply affected by the outcome of a gruesome anti gay hate crime, therefore I would need to
ensure that I would not be inclined to discriminate in any way. Furthermore, even though at the time
of Matthew s assault there was not any legislation regarding hate crimes that referred to anti gay acts
and same sex marriage was not yet legalized, as an ethical psychologist it is important to remain
cognizant that regardless of any conflicts between ethics and the law or regulations, under no
circumstances should psychologists use said law or regulations to justify or defend the

The Character Of Belle From Beauty And The Beast
Comparing yourself to a fictional character may not be something that has ran through your mind, but
it does not hurt to try it. A fictional characters may have very similar characteristics to you that you
never realized while watching shows or movies. The three fictional characters that most represent my
personality are Belle from Beauty and the Beast for her caring attitude towards others, Regina George
from Mean Girls for her confidence in her actions, and Minnie Mouse from Mickey Mouse Club
House for her friendliness. Belle is an ordinary girl from a small town who then becomes a princess in
the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, although we have different lifestyles, we also have
similarities; we both are caring and love our fathers. In the beginning of the movie, Belle is shown as a
very humble girl who lives in a small town with her father. Belle is always kind to the townspeople
even though she seems odd to them. Belles father Maurice is also different from the rest, he likes to
create inventions which makes him odd to the rest of the townspeople. Despite the rude comments the
townspeople make about her father, Belle loves him unconditionally and cares about him. Belles
caring personality separates her from the rest of the arrogant young girls from her town. Like Belle, I
like to care a lot about my father. My father is the most important person in my life, he is my role
model. He may not be the most perfect father in the world, but to me he is the best I could

Of An Former Colored Man By James Weldon Johnson Essay
In James Weldon Johnson s Autobiography of an Ex Colored Man, the is written narrator to be
perceived at face first as an average white male, when in fact he is inherently of colored descent.
Consequently, in regards to society s principle of the one drop rule, the narrator then faces an identity
complex in understanding whether he is black since society has categorized him on the account of his
bloodline, or white because of his external appearance. For at the end of the novel, he makes the
conscious decision to pass as white. Yet in erasing traces of his his Negro descent, this question
whether the narrator s decision violates particular morals in passing as white. Or, whether the narrator
s decision demonstrates that individuals like himself, must recreate themselves out of necessity. In
order to be liberated from societies categorization, and obtain their concept of happiness, that is
beyond the restricted principles from society. For the notion of recreating oneself for the means of
progressing towards a future goal is understood in F.Scotts Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby . For lowly
Jimmy Gatz is given an opportunity to recreate himself as Jay Gatsby, and does so through concealing
his past identity from society. Yet in effect, this enables Gatsby to become limitless in how he
progresses towards his idealized future. That in which, this paper will combine significant similarities

The Brick and Mortar Video Rental Industry
The video rental industry is an ever evolving industry that changes with the economy, evolution of
culture, and technology. Due to the changes in general environment surrounding the video rental
industry, it can be said that this once lucrative brick and mortar industry has gone through a death and
rebirth. New concepts of distribution such as Netflix, Redbox, and cable rentals have hastened the
extinction of the weekend drive to the video rental store. Various forces influence the video rental
industry as it transitions from a bricks and mortar industry into a more technologically advanced
industry. To remain viable the video rental giants must be willing to evolve. Extensive organizational

In the interviewing process the data obtained showed that cost effectiveness and convenience were the
primary reasons why they began to use the new concepts in video rental instead of continuing to use
the rental store. In those who continue to show patronage to the rental store, the primary reason is
based in their own lack of technological advancement or desire for change. Individuals may be
satisfied with the status quo because their needs are being met, they may view any potential change as
negative (Spector, 2010, pg. 9).
Within the organization itself resistance to change by employees is primarily based in fear. Individuals
may view change as a threat, fearing it will adversely affect them in some significant way (Spector,
2010, pg. 9). In Turn, The changes that need to be implemented may result in very little need for a
rental store with on sight managers or employees. Our technological advances and cultural changes
have replaced individuals with mechanical kiosk and a download from an internet service provider.
While mediums for viewing video have become more advanced, the options for renting will become
increasingly more diverse. These forces could eventually eliminate the need for the video rental store
completely and possibly eliminate the actual video or DVD itself. Steve Swasey, vice

Unfolding Test Essay
chapter{Unfolding Tests}label{ch:UnfTest}
In order to measure the performance of the D Agostini 2010 unfolding algorithm, and to compare it
with other algorithms, we have developed an unfolding test suite.
The main inputs of these tests are the MC microtree file and the algorithm to be tested. Where, The
microtree is a ROOT~cite{ROOT} file generated by our main analysis software,
HighLAND~cite{HighLAND}, containing all the necessary information about the events that entered
the selection process.
First, knowing the signal definition, and the binning for the truth and reconstructed variable
distribution, we process the microtree file to build the truth and reconstructed signal histograms, as
well as the smearing matrix.

Cref{fig:UnfTest_CoverageBins} shows the bin by bin coverage at 95% CL, of the unfolded
{color{red} four bins} momentum distribution of the electron antineutrino.
subsection{Simultaneous Coverage}
We rely on the empirical simultaneous coverage with Bonferroni correction, cf.~cite[Section 5.2.2]
{KuuselaShapeConstraint}, for the whole histogram.
The Bonferroni correction accounts for the increase of type I errorfootnote{Type I error is rejecting
the hypothesis while it is true.} of multiple coverage tests, one per bin, by decreasing the significance
level of each test to be $frac{alpha}{n}$, where $alpha$ is the type I error level per bin and n is the
total number of bins in the histogram.
Consequently, the confidence interval for each bin is then given by
begin{equation}
text{confidence interval} = big[hat{lambda}_k z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} sqrt{text{Var}
(hat{lambda}_k)}, ; hat{lambda}_k + z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} sqrt{text{Var}
(hat{lambda}_k)} big],
end{equation}
where, $hat{lambda}_k$ is the expected value of the unfolded histogram for bin k, ${Var}
(hat{lambda}_k)$ is its variance and $z_{1 frac{alpha}{2n}} $ is the standard normal quantile.
The simultaneous coverage test passes, if the coverage test for all the bins passes at the modified
significance level. The result of the simultaneous coverage test is shown in

Crito And Socrates
The story of Crito relates the last days of Socrates and was written by Plato. When Crito arrived to see
Socrates he found him sleeping quietly and in peace, which was unusual for someone who is waiting
for executing. Apparently, Socrates and Crito has a good friendship because Crito offered Socrates the
opportunity to scape and for this, Crito offered to pay the money for Socrates escape. Socrates,
immediately started to do what he does best, which is using his philosophical talents by asking
questions and providing answers to Crito. One of the questions that Socrates formulated to Crito was
if one person should do the wrong thing. And Crito replied to Socrates that they should do no wrong to
anyone. Also, Socrates asked Crito the question that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But maybe Socrates really thought about becoming a hero of Athens and be remember forever as a

Socrates mentions that no one should do nothing bad to another person, but the whole jury did wrong
to Socrates by send him to death. I think Crito should had said that the city was not worth to die for
because most people were cruel and had no feeling towards Socrates. The other important aspect to
analyze was the agreements that Socrates wanted to keep, which was his sentence to death. I will say
that the promises in some rare cases can be brake. For instance, I can promise love forever to my
partner but it doesn t mean that this will last forever, sometimes the love ends or it can broke by
infidelity. The respect that Socrates has for his country was very the most important aspect in his
conversation with Crito. I will say that Socrates did all he could for his country, he even fought the
wars for his country, and still his country didn t care for him and sentenced him to death. A country is

Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The Civil War
For a short time after the Civil War, southern whites hoped for restoration of their rights and a return
to traditions and lifestyle before the conflict began. Radical Republicans imposed oppressive policies
and laws. Despite these difficulties, southern whites worked with other interests to improve conditions
going forward. Whites in the old Confederacy raised serious objections to what they considered
oppressive Reconstruction policies. However, they found ways to work within the Reconstruction
system to help restore antebellum traditions and culture. Part 1 There was widespread opposition to
Reconstruction policies among whites in the old Confederacy. They felt forced to renounce their
southern heritage and the values of the Confederacy to rejoin the Union. They disliked the negative
attitude of northern interests and their severe punishments of the South. They objected to granting
citizenship and suffrage rights to freed blacks who gained political power and broke with southern
traditions ( Sectional Conflict, Views Opposed on Reconstruction and the War s Aftermath; Foner).
Reconstruction efforts were complicated. After Lincoln s assassination, President Andrew Johnson
favored legislation placating the South and the former Confederacy and returning property to prewar
owners (History.com Staff, Carpetbaggers Scalawags ). Using his pardoning powers, Johnson restored
virtually all political rights to most Confederates. Southern states balked when forced to repeal

What Does It Mean To Be A Girl
It s a girl! Most parents fantasize about hearing those precious and promising words because soon a
little girl will make its way into their life and she will be sweet, innocent, and pure. Nothing will hurt
that child, but unfortunately those parents are blinded by the happiness of the moment and do not
realize that the little girl will grow up and be worth less than her husband and she will be worth less in
society. In Merriam Webster s Unabridged Dictionary the word girl means a female child from birth to
adulthood, but in addition to this simple word there holds an immense amount of meaning. Four letters
and that s all it takes for someone to roll their eyes and laugh because that word is linked to weakness,

As a girl you are expected to break, but in reality girls have to pretend nothing will break them or they
will again be judged by society. This tends to be the case because if a girl breaks it will just add fire to
the sexist prejudices put upon them as a gender. In Serena Nanda s article Arranging a Marriage in
India, she talks about her research in India, when a son s parents are looking for a wife for their son
they have a very long list of expectations. She should be from the same caste system, pretty, not too
intelligent, meshes with the family well, doesn t stray from home, nor does she gossip or call home a
lot, and the most important thing is that she is pure before marriage. Though these expectations tend to
look somewhat different in the U.S. they have the same ideas. A girl should be boxed in away from
society and taking care of the children or perhaps being a good cook to put it into simpler terms
because that is what society unfairly tells us a girl should be able to do. Serena also talks about how it
is very important for a girl to protect the family name and in no way ever disgrace it. If that girl does
disgrace the family (for example not staying pure) it is not uncommon for her brother or even cousin
to murder her. Why is a family s expectations based on what a girl does? These unrealistic
expectations push girls too far and cause us to think our worth is less because we cannot do it all, even
though society thinks that s the least we could

Black Death And The Black Plague
The Black Death, also known as the Black Plague, was one of the most deadliest diseases of all time.
This disease came to Europe around 1347 C.E, by merchants from East Asia. The Black Plague then
spread all across Europe, and killed over 25,000,000 people. The Black Death had its effect on many
things. The peasant and noble differentiation was realized to be bogus, the belief in religious
authorities came under question, and poor people actually benefited from the Black Death. After the
epidemic declined there were a few outbreaks of the disease later on, but that also came to an end.
Nevertheless, its impact lasted for centuries.
The Middle Ages in Europe was from 500 to 1500 C.E. The Middle Ages consisted of population
growth, developing existing ideas, and creating new ones. Before the Black Death spread to Europe in
1347 C.E, their was a massive increase in population. The population increased from 25,000,000
people to 75,000,000, between 950 and 1250 C.E. There was at least 80,000,000 people in Europe by
the time the Black Death struck. There were also many economic developments to support the people
living in Europe. Commerce, manufacturing and travel became more progressive, and many more
towns were built, as well as cathedrals and mosques. But the drastically increasing population became
to much to handle for the economy of Europe, that some people say the strike of the Black Death,
causing millions of deaths, was a blessing.
The origin of the Black Death was

Alcohol Use Initiation Among Adolescents
Abstract
This literature review examines alcohol use initiation among adolescents through the constructs of
Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The review consists of 23 peer reviewed sources. TPB was
applicable to 18 sources, 4 did not fall within the constructs of TPB and 1 source was used solely to
understand the public health context of this behavior. Sources were located through PubMed,
Academic Search Complete, PsycINFO and Scopus databases. The following combination of search
terms were used: alcohol use initiation adolescent behavior and age of first drinking adolescent
influences. Findings from the literature were sorted and applied to constructs of the Theory of Planned
Behavior. A chapter from the book Health Behavior and Health Education: Theory, Research and
Practice (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008) was also used in order to understand the TPB. TPB consists of
the following constructs: behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome, normative beliefs, motivation to
comply, control beliefs and perceived power (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008). Conclusions found the
behavior of alcohol use initiation among adolescents can be applied to all constructs of the model, but
existing literature did not explore all constructs of TPB at an equal level of depth. Current literature
lacks depth in the constructs of behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome and control beliefs, while
a wide variety of literature focuses on the constructs of normative beliefs and motivation to comply.

the man Dove is writing about. Dove shows that she is afraid of losing her love through the lines, If I

Science Fiction Disaster Thriller Film, Directed By...
Armageddon is a 1998 American science fiction disaster thriller film, directed by Michael Bay,
produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film follows a group of professional deep core drillers who are
sent by NASA to eliminate an enormous asteroid before it collides with earth and threatens human
existence. Early in the film, it presented a series of events, beginning with a massive meteor shower
that ultimately destroys the orbiting space shuttle Atlantis. Later NASA reveals the sad news that
planet earth will make contact with this asteroid in eighteen days to the point it will cause an
extinction event and even destroy the smallest particles including bacteria. This calls for extremes
measures to prevent such collision and save the human race. Armageddon (1998) is a great example of
how films can help viewers understand the world of work and of organization function. Armageddon
(1998) covered different I/O related constructs for example personnel selection, teams, leadership,
individual differences, and performance. In this paper, I will evaluate, analyze and present my own

related construct that the film analyzed was the importance of individual differences. The film

Analysis Of Negotiating Problematic Identity Essay
The paper titled Negotiating Problematic Identity: The Queer Voyage in Thomas Mann s Death in
Venice is a phenomenological reading of queer experience in Death in Venice. The central character,
Gustav Von Aschenbach is portrayed as having fallen a victim of his own unnatural obsession with
beautiful boy, Tadzio. His love for the boy is seen as the culmination of his decline both as an artist
and as a human being. Phenomenology is concerned with the ways in which people experience their
lives and with the mental structures that give meaning to those experiences. Edmund Husserl believed
that it is futile to attempt to understand either the mind or the world in isolation from one another.
According to him, there exists an interdependent realtionship between the mind and the world. He also
says that it is the relationship in which mental states are defined by the objects of experience and the
objects of experience are shaped by the mental states. This paper focuses on the feelings, experiences,
emotions and self identification of Gustav Von Aschenbach as he voyages through the contours of his
self and various objects of experiences. It attempts to place him in what Heidegger calls Dasein ; thus,
giving him a sense of identity (more exactly a queer identity). His conscious experience could be seen
as Authentic Dasein (as Heidegger calls it) with the full knowledge of its mortality.
Key words: Dasein, Being, phenomena, identity.

From the case, we see that there are problems with the service. Delays at processing, inconvenient

The Scarlet Letter By Hugues Merle
The Scarlet Letter (Figure 1) painted by Hugues Merle in 1861 depicts the novel The Scarlet Letter by
Nathanial Hawthorne. Hester Prynne, an adulteress forced to wear the letter A upon her bosom
forever, becomes an outcast from the community with her daughter, Pearl. Merle was often known for
painting scenes of mothers and children. He illustrates the scene of Hester and Pearl sitting in the town
square as part of her punishment. The townspeople walk by, pointing fingers and making shrewd
remarks. Merle s painting, his biography, and other renditions of the novel and painting will be later
discussed. Hugues Merle (1823 1881) was a talented French painter during the middle of the
nineteenth century who fit into the impressionist category as he painted sweet and tender genre themes
(Schiller Bodo). He was born in Saint Marcellin and eventually moved to Paris. While in Paris, he
became a student of LĂ©on Cogniet at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and began to exhibit his work at the
Salon in 1847. By 1859, his reputation as a painter of portraits and biblical themes made him popular
among American collectors. In 1861 and 1863, he was awarded second class medals and in 1866, he
was made Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. Merle painted a range of subjects, including historical
anecdotes, allegories, and rural genre scenes such as those of mothers and children. His works were

Calorimetry Lab Report Summary
Summary Questions:
1. What value(s) of ΔHrxn did you determine? Compare to the literature value. The first trial that
contained 10 mL of NaOH and 10 mL of CH3COOH produced a ΔHrxn of 13.11 kJ/m. The second
trial, which contained 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH resulted in a ΔHrxn of 7.864 kJ/m.
Based on the literature value of NaOH CH3COOH, 57.5 kJ/m, we were off by 44.39 kJ/m in the first
trial, and 49.64 kJ/m in the second trial.
2. How did concentration and/or volume differences affect the heat change (q) for each trial? When
the volumes of NaOH and CH3COOH were equal, the temperature increased by 5 degrees celsius.
When we performed a second trial and added 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH, the

Summary Of In The Penal Colony
For this unit, I decided to read Kafka s In the Penal Colony. The author, Franz Kafka, was an early
20th century middle class Jew who lived in Prague and wrote mostly in German. The present short
story, published in 1919, refers to an unnamed penal colony somewhere in the tropics and focuses on
four characters: the commander of the camp, an invited foreign dignitary, a guard, and a victim. The
story revolves a twisted idea of justice, where the punishment does not fit the crime, and the
condemned does not know neither the charge nor the nature of his punishment. Indeed, justice seems
completely irrelevant to the commander who is only fascinated with the torturing as an art and
science; the apotheosis of the latter represented with the torturing machine that resembles a CNC

The first thing that impressed me what the prescience of the author, who almost anticipated the misery

and these might have served as a model; in Czarist Russia, for example, criminals and political
radicals were sent to labor camps in Siberia with famous exiles being Dostoyevsky and Lenin. Yet,
despite the harsh conditions of these places, the idea remained that the punishment had to fit the crime
and there was a personal interaction between camp administration and inmates. Kafka s foresight

Walter Payon Quotes
Walter Payton once said If you ask me how I want to be remembered, it is as a winner. You know what
a winner is? A winner is somebody who has given his best effort, who has tried the hardest they
possibly can, who has utilized every ounce of energy and strength within them to accomplish
something. It doesn t mean that they accomplished it or failed, it means that they ve given it their best.
That s a winner. This meaningful quote suggests that being a winner doesn t necessarily mean that you
have to win every single game or award; all you have to do to be a winner is show that you put effort
and that you actually tried to win. This quote was very relevant to Walter Payton according to Don

The American Evangelical Story By Douglas Sweeney And...
As we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means throughout
history, especially in our Western culture I am intrigued as to both and their very intense presence in
many of our modern day congregations. Yet, the vast majority of evangelicals around the world today
hail from Holiness, Pentecostal, and charismatic congregations . After visiting Grace Covenant Church
of Austin Texas, much of those aforementioned typical contributions that have been emphasized in
books such as The American Evangelical Story by Douglas Sweeney and American Apocalypse by
Matthew Sutton, I experienced ever present at Grace. As always, everything is big down in Texas
therefore, Grace is no exception. They have a large campus with several buildings on site as well as
golf carts to escort those who need transportation to each of the different buildings. I must say, as
someone who works with youth, I was impressed as to their commitment to a separate building for
those preschool through high school. At a time when autonomy is so important for a young person,
having their own space seemed quite impressive or I d just say, plain cool. The first thing you notice

Quartering Act Of 1765 Dbq Analysis
The Quartering Act of 1765 is directly relevant to Chapter 6. It is relevant to Chapter 6 because it is a
response to the huge war debt against an already strained budget. George III s main priority was that
he wanted to maintain the size of the army. The colonists were not the biggest fans of this army. The
Quartering Act (1765) was one of four pieces of legislation that forced the colonies and colonists to
contribute and help with the upkeep of the large army(Oakes et al., 2015, pg. 167). Analysis: The
Quartering Act of 1765 is best described from parliament as an act, ...punishing mutiny and desertion,
and for the better payment of the army and their quarters; several regulations are made and enacted for
the better government of the army, and their observing strict discipline, and for providing quarters for
the army, and carriages on marches and other necessary occasions, and inflicting penalties on
offenders against the same act (Pickering, 1765). In other words, the American colonists were required
to house British soldiers and pay for their food, in order to keep the standing army. The textbook
defines it as, the Quartering Act (1765), required the colonies to house troops in public buildings and
provide them with firewood, candles, and drink (Oakes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Chemical and Biological Uses of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Chemical and Biological Uses of WMD
The threat by terrorist groups in using Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) has increased
significantly in the recent years. Preventing the creation and the utilization of these deadly weapons as
well as their delivery systems and reducing those already in existence, has become of extreme
importance to the government. Certain weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical and biological,
are easier to acquire but much harder to detect. For that reason, they should be the highest priority.
Predicting when and how an attack will occur, involving chemical or biological weapons, is not 100
percent possible; however, individuals should not ignore the possibility of such an attack happening
here on American soil. In the past, there have been attacks involving Sarin gas, such as the Tokyo
Subway attack, and just recently, the Sarin nerve agent use in Syria. Terrorist have the capability to
use chemical WMD and have shown that they are willing to use this method in warfare. In addition,
military biological WMD programs discovered in Iraq and Russia show that there is a definite
biological threat as well. Preparing America to face this threat head on is a daunting task, but lacking
preparedness could have devastating consequences beyond comprehension. Agencies, such as public
health organizations, must be prepared to prevent illness and injuries resulting from biological and
chemical terrorism, especially with a concealed attack by a terrorist.

The Measurement of Pendulum s Harmonic Motion Lab #2
Abstract
The specific purpose of this experiment was to verify three physical concepts based on Newton s
Laws. These concepts are vector addition, force as a vector, and the law of equilibrium. The densities
of two different objects were compared by measuring their masses and volumes. In this experiment,
two different sets of methods of volume measurement were compared to the density computation of an
object bearing a standard shape. In addition, the density computation was used to determine the
buoyant force acting on different objects. At this point, it was observed that an object maintains a
constant velocity if all the external forces cancel out one another (no net force results from the
unbalanced forces acting on an object). In this case, a force table was used to study Newton s First
Law of Motion. These forces were represented as F1, F2, and F3. Analysis of results obtained from the
experiment proved that the value of F3 determined through calculations was less than the measured
value of F3. In Trial#1, for example, the calculated value of F3 was 211.59g @ 2430 while the
measured value of F3 was 215g @2430, translating to a % difference of 0.5g @20. Although the
primary objectives of the lab were achieved, errors (in particular, static friction) occurred during the
experiment. These errors were observed

I Failed Two Accounting Courses
SMO411 Term Paper

Introduction
Last year, I failed two accounting courses which were 400 levels. I tried to retake one of the courses
because my dad was pressuring me so hard that I should be able to understand much better but I still
could not understand the concepts and I found it really hard to catch up with the class. Since this class
was a prerequisite class for my major, I was very frustrated. I was getting so much stress from my dad
and the course that I had to retake. However, several days before I had to take a midterm, I was
overwhelmed and I was not ready to take an exam. I decided to withdraw from a course because there
was no way that I could handle 400 level accounting courses. Since I failed two accounting courses
before, I got an academic probation due to low grades. My dad thought that I was still retaking one of
the accounting courses. When I told him that I withdrew from a course, he was very mad because I did
not discuss this issue with him. I did not know why I had to discuss with him while I was very stressed
out. It was a tough decision for me to withdraw from a course. I had to discuss with him about
changing my major since I was in my last year. Preparation Stage
The purpose of this stage is to help me use the information to prepare what can be my options if the
negotiation goes well or does not go well. Also, preparation stage also helps me to guess what the
other party s options can be and try to negotiate much better.

MIXED THEORIES OF TORT LAW: AFFIRMING BOTH DETERRENCE AND CORRECTIVE
JUSTICE Gary T. Schwartza Copyright (c) 1997 Texas Law Review Association; Gary T. Schwartz
Introduction Currently there are two major camps of tort scholars. One understands tort liability as an
instrument aimed largely at the goal of deterrence, commonly explained within the framework of
economics. The other looks at tort law as a way of achieving corrective justice between the parties. If
these are alternative camps, they are also to a large measure unfriendly camps: much of the time each

In the early 1970s, the work of Guido Calabresi15 and Richard Posner16 precipitated what has proved
to be an explosion of scholarship analyzing tort law in economic terms and emphasizing deterrence as
a primary tort objective.17 One major school of legal economists claims that economics provides a
splendid and nearly complete account of the body of tort doctrine.18 *1804 As it happens, deterrence
had not played a significant role in traditional tort scholarship. When Landes and Posner expounded
their theory of deterrence as a basic tort objective, they reviewed the record of early tort writings to
determine what support they could find for this theory; they ended up merely reporting that with the
benefit of hindsight, it is possible to find . . . prefigurings of the modern economic approach in

A Literature Review On Motivations And Types Of Slips Of...
A Literature Review on Motivations and Types of Slips of the Tongue in Adults Speech
Language production is a cognitive process we achieve easily and rapidly, but which is extremely
complex (Goldstein, 2008: 381). Our creative linguistic abilities reflect our tacit or implicit knowledge
of the structure of our language (Chomsky, 1986). Our spontaneous speech is far from being perfect.
Rather, it is interspersed with irregularities and errors of various kinds. Speakers may begin an
utterance but never bring it to an end at least not to the end they originally intended because, while
speaking, they realize that what they were going to say is inadequate, imprecise, or simply wrong.
(Pfau, 2009: 1). As normal humans, we usually express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas through the
procedure of speech production. And while frequently sending and conveying our ideas, we might
produce some unwanted and wrong utterances in our daily speech. Linguists believe that most of our
daily utterances are frequently deformed by spontaneous speech errors or slips of the tongue (Pfau,
2009: 1). In linguistics, slips of the tongue is one of everyday frequent and spontaneous speech errors.
Generally, slips of the tongue, in particular, are unintentional and distorted outputs during the process
of speech production. Thus, these slips are not intentional and can t represent our true feelings and
desires. However, Sigmund Freud argues that slips of the tongue have a meaning and can be

Barrio Rising Book Report
Barrio Rising is a book about urban popular politics and the making of modern Venezuela. It portrays
the democracy and violence in Venezuela between the 1950s and the Bolivarian Revolution of 1998.
People who lived during these times protested about the unfair treatment they received from the
government. They acted out in violence, guerilla warfares, and protesting. Their main goal, in these
communities, was to have their voices heard and their demands met to their standards.
In the 1950s, Marcos Pérez Jiménez, the president, modernized Venezuela by building dozens of
superblocks in the capital, Caracas. These buildings housed several thousands of poor people without
jobs, health care, utilities, etc. With the unfinished business of dictator Marcos Perez Jimenez, who

Essay on How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization
Roles of the Catholic Church in Western civilization has been scrambled with the times past and
development of Western society. Regardless of the fact that the West is no longer entirely Catholic, the
Catholic tradition is still strong in Western countries. The church has been a very important foundation
of public facilities like schooling, Western art, culture and philosophy; and influential player in
religion. In many ways it has wanted to have an impact on Western approaches to pros and cons in
numerous areas. It has over many periods of time, spread the teachings of Jesus within the Western

The Constitution Of The American South After The Civil War

United States Constitution to this very day are the 13th and 14th amendments. These amendments are
known as the reconstruction amendments because the documents were important in implementing the
Reconstruction of the American South after the Civil War. Their advocates saw them as transforming
the United States from a country that was half slave and half free to one in which the constitution
guaranteed blessings of liberty which extended to the entire populace, including the former slaves and

A clause is a sentence in any part of our constitution. Firstly, is the citizenship Clause which gives

and prevents those rights from being taken away by any government without due process. Due process

slave who sued for his freedom after living in Illinois and Wisconsin Territory where slavery was

Analysis Of Being Mortal
Being Mortal was an interesting book, it poses some very good questions, such as living independent
as a senior, which identifies the desire of most elderly people, to be able to have the freedom to choose
how and where they re going to live. As pictured in the book, some of the facilities that seniors are
living in do not encourage independent living, or freedom of choice. Honestly, in some facilities
people do die quicker, not from illness, but lost of purpose. As people age, learning to except their
limitations and physical changes may not be easy; trying to adjust mentally and emotionally is
difficult to say the least, changes none the less presents problems. For me, these first two statements
by the author set the course ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should medicine intervene in the delay of a person dying when they have a terminal disease, or have
experience major traumatic injury to their body? How physicians participate at times in prolonging the
natural course of dying while trying to fix what cannot be fixed. The simple view is that medicine
exists to fight death and disease, and that is, of course, its most basic task. Death is the enemy.
(Gawande, 2014) The truth is death is not the enemy, it is the fear of death that perpetuates the many
of the treatments that done. The author did not ignore the fact that some physicians do not really
engage with their patients. If a physician truly engaged with the patient, as Dr. Benzel did with the
author s father, they would recognize fear, in the patient and it may avert some treatments; and provide
palliative care instead. As a social worker in the environment of assisted living, Hospice care, ICU
unit, they can be crucial advocating for the client. The social worker can provide a calming voice, to
relieve some of the fears, and anxiety of the patient and the family members. Assisting the physician
in articulating the need for a procedure with empathy and compassion the need for

Severe Acne Vulgaris
In today s day and age, many people, from infants to young children to middle aged adults, suffer
from acne. According to the Canadian Dermatology Association, acne is the most common skincare
problem addressed by doctors (2016). Generally speaking, acne comes in many different forms such
as white heads, black heads, cysts, pimples, and different bumps on the skin affecting people of all
ages.
Acne Vulgaris, otherwise understood as the medical name of acne, is a well known chronic disorder
that is associated with increased sebum secretion, according to the National Library of Medicine
(2013).
Obstruction of the sebaceous follicle is the primary pathologic event in acne, giving rise to the
microcomedo, the precursor of all acne lesions (Woodard, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This finally leads to an inflammatory response seen as papules, pustules, and nodules. The bacterium
also causes the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing the inflammatory process
in the follicle (EFPIA, 2016)
Severe acne with associated systemic signs and symptoms, such as fever, is referred to as acne
fulminans. Severe acne, characterized by multiple comedones, without the presence of systemic
symptoms, is known as acne conglobata. This severe form of acne typically heals with lasting scars.
Local symptoms of acne vulgaris may include pain, tenderness, or even erythema (Informed Health,
2013).
Although acne is seen to only affect the main organ, the skin, different systems of the body are
affected in unison, including the endocrine system, immune system, circulatory system, nervous
system and the digestive system. The long term complications of acne remain as psychological
damage. Many can develop lasting scarring from the skin irritations including atrophic scars,
hypertrophic scars, and keloid scars. While the experience of acne may not be deemed as life
threatening, it does carry with it significant psychological disability (Rubin, Kim, Logan, 2008). The
psychological aspect of acne includes higher rates

Matheny s Views on Ulitarianism and Factory or Farm Animals
In this paper I will explain in detail the premises of Matheny s view and his argument of refraining
from eating the product from factory farms, and then offer an objection to it. Matheny states in
Utilitarianism and Animals that we should refrain from eating the products from factory farms. The
first premise of Matheny s argument is the principle of equal consideration of interests. To be fair, just,
and benevolent, any ethical rule we adopt should respect this principle. The second premise of
Matheny s argument is that eating factory farmed products is considered to be ethically wrong. The
conclusion of Matheny s argument is we should not eat factory farmed products. To summarize
Matheny s Utilitarianism and Animals with a quote, We can change the way we live, and eat. Below
are the following premises: 1. You should act in such a way as to maximize the expected satisfaction
of interests in the world, equally considered. 2. Eating factory farmed products does not maximize the
expected satisfaction of interest in the world, equally considered. 3. Therefore, we should not eat
factory farmed products. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory with the rule, act in such a way as to
maximize the expected satisfaction of interests in the world, equally considered. We try to act in such
a way that considers everyone s pains and pleasures. With this in mind, we have to discover what truly
makes others happy. We should not ignore those that are affected by our behavior.

Belle is an ordinary girl from a small town who then becomes a princess in the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast, although we have different lifestyles, we also have similarities; we both are caring and love our fathers. In the beginning of the movie, Belle is shown as a very humble girl who lives in a small town with her father. Belle is always kind to the townspeople even though she seems odd to them. Belles father Maurice is also different from the rest, he likes to create inventions which makes him odd to the rest of the townspeople. Pros And Cons Of Reconstruction After The Civil War For a short time after the Civil War, southern whites hoped for restoration of their rights and a return to traditions and lifestyle before the conflict began. Radical Republicans imposed oppressive policies and laws. Despite these difficulties, southern whites worked with other interests to improve conditions going forward. Whites in the old Confederacy raised serious objections to what they considered oppressive Reconstruction policies. However, they found ways to work within the Reconstruction system to help restore antebellum traditions and culture. Part 1 There was widespread opposition to Reconstruction policies among whites in the old Confederacy. They felt forced to renounce their southern heritage and the values of the Confederacy to rejoin the Union. They disliked the negative attitude of northern interests and their severe punishments of the South. They objected to granting citizenship and suffrage rights to freed blacks who gained political power and broke with southern traditions ( Sectional Conflict, Views Opposed on Reconstruction and the War s Aftermath; Foner). This tends to be the case because if a girl breaks it will just add fire to the sexist prejudices put upon them as a gender. In Serena Nanda s article Arranging a Marriage in India, she talks about her research in India, when a son s parents are looking for a wife for their son they have a very long list of expectations. She should be from the same caste system, pretty, not too intelligent, meshes with the family well, doesn t stray from home, nor does she gossip or call home a lot, and the most important thing is that she is pure before marriage. Though these expectations tend to look somewhat different in the U.S. they have the same ideas. A girl should be boxed in away from society and taking care of the children or perhaps being a good cook to put it into simpler terms because that is what society unfairly tells us a girl should be able to do. Serena also talks about how it is very important for a girl to protect the family name and in no way ever disgrace it. If that girl does disgrace the family (for example not staying pure) it is not uncommon for her brother or even cousin to murder her. Why is a family s expectations based on what a girl does? This disease came to Europe around 1347 C.E, by merchants from East Asia. The Black Plague then spread all across Europe, and killed over 25,000,000 people. The Black Death had its effect on many things. The peasant and noble differentiation was realized to be bogus, the belief in religious authorities came under question, and poor people actually benefited from the Black Death. After the epidemic declined there were a few outbreaks of the disease later on, but that also came to an end. Nevertheless, its impact lasted for centuries. The Middle Ages in Europe was from 500 to 1500 C.E. The Middle Ages consisted of population growth, developing existing ideas, and creating new ones. Before the Black Death spread to Europe in 1347 C.E, their was a massive increase in population. The population increased from 25,000,000 people to 75,000,000, between 950 and 1250 C.E. There was at least 80,000,000 people in Europe by the time the Black Death struck. There were also many economic developments to support the people living in Europe. Commerce, manufacturing and travel became more progressive, and many more towns were built, as well as cathedrals and mosques. The review consists of 23 peer reviewed sources. TPB was applicable to 18 sources, 4 did not fall within the constructs of TPB and 1 source was used solely to understand the public health context of this behavior. Sources were located through PubMed, Academic Search Complete, PsycINFO and Scopus databases. The following combination of search terms were used: alcohol use initiation adolescent behavior and age of first drinking adolescent influences. Findings from the literature were sorted and applied to constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior. A chapter from the book Health Behavior and Health Education: Theory, Research and Practice (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008) was also used in order to understand the TPB. TPB consists of the following constructs: behavioral intention, evaluation of outcome, normative beliefs, motivation to comply, control beliefs and perceived power (Montaño and Kasprzyk 2008). Conclusions found the behavior of alcohol use initiation among adolescents can be applied to all constructs of the model, but existing literature did not explore all constructs of TPB at an equal level of depth. • 17. Analysis Of Negotiating Problematic Identity Essay The paper titled Negotiating Problematic Identity: The Queer Voyage in Thomas Mann s Death in Venice is a phenomenological reading of queer experience in Death in Venice. The central character, Gustav Von Aschenbach is portrayed as having fallen a victim of his own unnatural obsession with beautiful boy, Tadzio. His love for the boy is seen as the culmination of his decline both as an artist and as a human being. Phenomenology is concerned with the ways in which people experience their lives and with the mental structures that give meaning to those experiences. Edmund Husserl believed that it is futile to attempt to understand either the mind or the world in isolation from one another. According to him, there exists an interdependent realtionship between the mind and the world. He also says that it is the relationship in which mental states are defined by the objects of experience and the objects of experience are shaped by the mental states. This paper focuses on the feelings, experiences, emotions and self identification of Gustav Von Aschenbach as he voyages through the contours of his self and various objects of experiences. It attempts to place him in what Heidegger calls Dasein ; thus, giving him a sense of identity (more exactly a queer identity). His conscious experience could be seen as Authentic Dasein (as Heidegger calls it) with the full knowledge of its mortality. Key words: Dasein, Being, phenomena, identity. Introduction The ... The author, Franz Kafka, was an early 20th century middle class Jew who lived in Prague and wrote mostly in German. The present short story, published in 1919, refers to an unnamed penal colony somewhere in the tropics and focuses on four characters: the commander of the camp, an invited foreign dignitary, a guard, and a victim. The story revolves a twisted idea of justice, where the punishment does not fit the crime, and the condemned does not know neither the charge nor the nature of his punishment. Indeed, justice seems completely irrelevant to the commander who is only fascinated with the torturing as an art and science; the apotheosis of the latter represented with the torturing machine that resembles a CNC router that inscribes the accusation on the skin of the condemned who then dies slowly from bleeding. The first thing that impressed me what the prescience of the author, who almost anticipated the misery of the Nazi and Communist concentration camps. Certainly, penal camps existed prior to his writing, and these might have served as a model; in Czarist Russia, for example, criminals and political radicals were sent to labor camps in Siberia with famous exiles being Dostoyevsky and Lenin. Yet, despite the harsh conditions of these places, the idea remained that the punishment had to fit the crime and there was a personal interaction between camp administration and inmates. • 25. The American Evangelical Story By Douglas Sweeney And... As we have peeled away the layers of what evangelicalism and fundamentalism means throughout history, especially in our Western culture I am intrigued as to both and their very intense presence in many of our modern day congregations. Yet, the vast majority of evangelicals around the world today hail from Holiness, Pentecostal, and charismatic congregations . After visiting Grace Covenant Church of Austin Texas, much of those aforementioned typical contributions that have been emphasized in books such as The American Evangelical Story by Douglas Sweeney and American Apocalypse by Matthew Sutton, I experienced ever present at Grace. • 26. Quartering Act Of 1765 Dbq Analysis The Quartering Act of 1765 is directly relevant to Chapter 6. It is relevant to Chapter 6 because it is a response to the huge war debt against an already strained budget. George III s main priority was that he wanted to maintain the size of the army. The colonists were not the biggest fans of this army. The Quartering Act (1765) was one of four pieces of legislation that forced the colonies and colonists to contribute and help with the upkeep of the large army(Oakes et al., 2015, pg. 167). Analysis: The Quartering Act of 1765 is best described from parliament as an act, ...punishing mutiny and desertion, and for the better payment of the army and their quarters; several regulations are made and enacted for the better government of the army, and their observing strict discipline, and for providing quarters for the army, and carriages on marches and other necessary occasions, and inflicting penalties on offenders against the same act (Pickering, 1765). In other words, the American colonists were required to house British soldiers and pay for their food, in order to keep the standing army. Chemical and Biological Uses of Weapons of Mass Destruction Chemical and Biological Uses of WMD The threat by terrorist groups in using Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) has increased significantly in the recent years. Preventing the creation and the utilization of these deadly weapons as well as their delivery systems and reducing those already in existence, has become of extreme importance to the government. Certain weapons of mass destruction, such as chemical and biological, are easier to acquire but much harder to detect. For that reason, they should be the highest priority. Predicting when and how an attack will occur, involving chemical or biological weapons, is not 100 percent possible; however, individuals should not ignore the possibility of such an attack happening here on American soil. In the past, there have been attacks involving Sarin gas, such as the Tokyo Subway attack, and just recently, the Sarin nerve agent use in Syria. Terrorist have the capability to use chemical WMD and have shown that they are willing to use this method in warfare. In addition, military biological WMD programs discovered in Iraq and Russia show that there is a definite biological threat as well. Preparing America to face this threat head on is a daunting task, but lacking preparedness could have devastating consequences beyond comprehension. Agencies, such as public health organizations, must be prepared to prevent illness and injuries resulting from biological and chemical terrorism, especially with a concealed attack by a terrorist. ... • 28. The Measurement Of Pendulum s Harmonic Motion Lab Essay Name: Kaleen Name of Lab Partners: Matt and Yesh Institution Course Instructor Date of Submission The Measurement of Pendulum s Harmonic Motion Lab #2 Abstract The specific purpose of this experiment was to verify three physical concepts based on Newton s Laws. These concepts are vector addition, force as a vector, and the law of equilibrium. The densities of two different objects were compared by measuring their masses and volumes. In this experiment, two different sets of methods of volume measurement were compared to the density computation of an object bearing a standard shape. In addition, the density computation was used to determine the buoyant force acting on different objects. At this point, it was observed that an object maintains a constant velocity if all the external forces cancel out one another (no net force results from the unbalanced forces acting on an object). In this case, a force table was used to study Newton s First Law of Motion. These forces were represented as F1, F2, and F3. Analysis of results obtained from the experiment proved that the value of F3 determined through calculations was less than the measured value of F3. In Trial#1, for example, the calculated value of F3 was 211.59g @ 2430 while the measured value of F3 was 215g @2430, translating to a % difference of 0.5g @20. Although the primary objectives of the lab were achieved, errors (in particular, static friction) occurred during the experiment. These errors were observed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, several days before I had to take a midterm, I was overwhelmed and I was not ready to take an exam. I decided to withdraw from a course because there was no way that I could handle 400 level accounting courses. Since I failed two accounting courses before, I got an academic probation due to low grades. My dad thought that I was still retaking one of the accounting courses. When I told him that I withdrew from a course, he was very mad because I did not discuss this issue with him. I did not know why I had to discuss with him while I was very stressed out. It was a tough decision for me to withdraw from a course. I had to discuss with him about changing my major since I was in my last year. One understands tort liability as an instrument aimed largely at the goal of deterrence, commonly explained within the framework of economics. • 31. A Literature Review On Motivations And Types Of Slips Of... A Literature Review on Motivations and Types of Slips of the Tongue in Adults Speech Language production is a cognitive process we achieve easily and rapidly, but which is extremely complex (Goldstein, 2008: 381). Our creative linguistic abilities reflect our tacit or implicit knowledge of the structure of our language (Chomsky, 1986). Our spontaneous speech is far from being perfect. Rather, it is interspersed with irregularities and errors of various kinds. Speakers may begin an utterance but never bring it to an end at least not to the end they originally intended because, while speaking, they realize that what they were going to say is inadequate, imprecise, or simply wrong. (Pfau, 2009: 1). As normal humans, we usually express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas through the procedure of speech production. And while frequently sending and conveying our ideas, we might produce some unwanted and wrong utterances in our daily speech. Linguists believe that most of our daily utterances are frequently deformed by spontaneous speech errors or slips of the tongue (Pfau, 2009: 1). In linguistics, slips of the tongue is one of everyday frequent and spontaneous speech errors. Generally, slips of the tongue, in particular, are unintentional and distorted outputs during the process of speech production. Thus, these slips are not intentional and can t represent our true feelings and desires. However, Sigmund Freud argues that slips of the tongue have a meaning and can be ...
