Introduction
Consuming alcohol during pregnancy results in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The spectrum of FAS
ranges from barely detectable to severe functional and cognitive birth defects. In the United States
approximately 9.1 out of 1,000 live births exhibit some degree of FAS spectrum. Although excessive
consumption of alcohol is considered a human teratogen the biochemical mechanism and the

Stem cell lines were derived from Mus musculus castaneus x Mus musculus (C57Black6) F1 embryos,
because polymorphism between these strains allow for the examination of mono allelic patterns of
epigenetic marks and gene expression within loci is regulated by genomic imprinting. Cells were
grown on Mytomycin C treated feeder mouse fibroblast layer, then moved to a feeder free system.
Embryonic stem cells (ES) were used to test the stability of the candidate gene during differentiation,
Trophectoderm stem cells (TS) were used to test ethanol exposure on placentation, and Neurosphere
stem cells were used to model neuroblast migration from their germinal zones to colonize brain
development in in vitro. Cells were cultured to an 80% confluence and dissociated with 1xTrypsin. All
cells, except control group, were cultures with ethanol at varying concentrations of: 60mg/dL,
120mg/dL, and 320mg/dL. Cells were extracted at each stage of neurosphere differentiation. Total
RNA was isolated using the Trizol method for 4 independent experimental replicates. The samples
were then DNased using DNaseI and made into 4 independent cDNA reactions using the reverse
transcription kit, SuperScriptII, and random hexamer oligonucleotides. Quantitative real time PCR
was performed using DyNAmo Flash SYBR Green qPCR Mastermix on a 7500 Fast Real Time PCR
System from Applied Biosystems in 3 independent reactions measuring the candidate genes in

Eugenics, A New Science Of Heredity
Eugenics, a new science of heredity was first introduced in 1883, brought about to address the
budding fears and threats to the purity and fitness of the British race. A fear brought upon by events
such as the Boer War in 1899, forced Britain to question the spectrum of degeneracy within the
population and resolve the issue of bringing the British and White race back to strength, unified and
fit. Sir Francis Galton defined eugenics as the study of agencies under social control that may improve
or impair the racial qualities of future generations either physically or mentally . It was believed that
differences in mental, moral and physical traits between individuals, as well as races were hereditary,
producing those who were deemed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
University Students. At this time, America provided a clear example of how race greatly impacted on
the eugenics movement. The United States came across a lot more racialist than Britain; the key racial
targets being the American Negro and various portions of white races emigrating from Eastern
Europe. In a much more patriotic and chauvinistic country this threatened to overwhelm the superior
white race, forcing the development of new immigration and sterilisation laws.
Britain was just as supportive in believing in the dominant White race, however was never as extreme
in it racialism. British Society was ethnically more or less homogenous and therefore it had not
experienced the considerable amount of non white emigrating people than it did in later decades. . The
movement in Britain was marked by variations on existing racial themes, instead of new
compositions. Racism figured a lot less distinctly and was of less importance to British Eugenics,
identifying the new science as primarily class based, focusing more on the biological fitness of the
different classes. Consequently, one could argue that race wasn t awfully important to the movement,
but race figured much more markedly to the eugenics movement in other countries such as the United

Network Security Enhancement Using Software Defined...
Network Security enhancement using Software Defined Networking Technologies Software Defined
Networking (SDN) is a pattern of new technologies for permitting more prominent control of how
networks work. As opposed to a genuinely static network that must be controlled by exclusive
merchant particular protocols, with at times restricted deceivability into the internals of layer 2
gadgets like switches, SDN considers experimentation in enhancing and arranging how the network
functions. Furthermore, SDN can be controlled utilizing product server equipment, which can add to
the reasonableness and expense reserve funds. The major advantage of Software Defined Networking

If it s a large network consisting of so many networking devices, then it would be difficult to
configure each and every device with these security measures as it takes a lot of time to do so. Further
more, many network attacks are taking shape these days and their effects on the network are
unpredictable. So if a new attack comes and if a security measure is developed against the attack, then
it should be updated in each and every network device in a network, which will be a very tedious job
to do. This is the current trend running in the networking environment. In our project we are
implementing these security measures over SDN, as it provides a centralized controller for the
network. If we just configure these security measures in the centralized controller, then the entire
network, which is under the control of this particular controller, can be secured. Thus it saves a lot of
time and effort. And if a new network attack comes into the network, then the security measure against
this network attack can be configured inside the controller, so that it can be applied to the whole
network, which is under the control of this controller instead of changing each and every networking
device configuration in a network. Software Defined Networks (SDN), as we utilize this as a part of
the execution of the task. Software Defined Networks is a

Examples Of Racism In America Today
Racism Live!
How could an individual describe racism in America today? One could describe it as systematic. The
process brought on by hundreds of years of oppression because of a superiority complex. It is the
removal of basic rights and enslavement. It is the forced labor of a race to build a country that would
not acknowledge them as people, only property. That was America in its most unethical form; it is the
reason there are still problems today. Without out fully acknowledging the history of America s past,
the country cannot fully understand the racism that is going on today, such as the mass incarceration
of the African American population and the killing of innocent black lives. Those are facets of racism
in America today. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

History of St. Valentine s Day
History of St. Valentine s Day
Introduction:
Saint Valentine s Day (commonly shortened to Valentine s Day) is an annual commemoration
(celebration) held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions.
The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrs(s somebody who suffers death for the
people) named Valentine.
It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers,
offering confectionery (CANDY) (is the set of food items that are rich in sugar), and sending greeting
cards (known as valentines ).
Modern Valentine s Day symbols include the heart shaped outline, doves, and the figure of the winged
Cupid (winged boy). Since the 19th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
â–ª St Valentine s Day is celebrated on February 14 of each year; the reason why it is celebrated on this
day is because this was the day that the Patron Saint of Lovers St Valentine was supposedly executed
on. On this day lovers all around the world mark this occasion as a day for sending poems, cards,
flowers or candy, etc. They might also be a social gathering or ball to mark the occasion. Valentine
Traditions â–ª Hundreds of years ago in England, many children dressed up as adults on Valentine s Day.
They went singing from home to home. One verse they sang was: â–ª Good morning to you, valentine;
Curl your locks as I do mine Two before and three behind. Good morning to you, valentine. â–ª In Wales
wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were
favourite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, You unlock my heart! â–ª In the Middle
Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They
would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means
that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling. â–ª In some countries, a young woman may
receive a gift of clothing from a young man. If she keeps the gift, it means she will marry him. â–ª Some

application of this ideal to our special warfare troopers comes unnecessary fatigue. In conventional

have no real job other than to interject white noise into the decision making process. However, I see
the real problem in SOCOM being careerism and CYA risk aversion before the real obstacle and not a
simple matter of the numbers involved. SOCOM is still way too top heavy with officers, though. It is
so bad that it is to the point that entire new bureaucracies were created overseas just so that officers
could have jobs. One is the CJSOTF which is not a doctrinal part of Special Forces operations. ODAs

required for some logistical resupply operations and unit deconfliction, but it has grown into a monster
over time which has created this inverse relationship in which Officers now see the CJSOTF as the
maneuver element, and ODAs as the supporting mechanism for this bureaucracy. Former Special

Team Building Importance
When we think of teamwork, we think of common goals of a team for which every member of the
team works. Each member is equally responsible for achieving the team goals. Bringing a group of
individuals together and make them work together to achieve a common goal is the essence of team
building. In order for us to succeed, we need to succeed as a team. An organisation is team of teams.
Team building is a process where different activities are undertaken to establish positive
communication among team members and encourage them to work hand in hand for better
performance of the team. It aims to leave no room for disputes among team members and keep their
morale high. It is an effort in which a team studies its own processes of working together and work to
create an environment that encourages and values the contributions of team members. Their energies
are directed towards problem solving, task effectiveness, and maximising the use of resources of the
members to achieve team s goals. To be more productive, individuals need to be more flexible in
identifying the characteristics of the team. It is also said that collaborative culture of an employee in a
team create an environment where every contribution is recognized and valued, which in turn drives
productivity and success. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Taxation in India
Taxation in India
The Indian Tax Structure is quite elaborate, with clear distinction in authority between Central, State
and local governments. The taxes levied by the Central government are on income (other than tax on
agriculture income which would be levied by the state government), customs duties, central excise and
service tax. The State government levies Value Added Tax (VAT), sales tax in states where VAT is not
applied, stamp duty, state excise, land revenue and tax on professions. Local bodies levy tax on
property, octroi and for utilities like water supply, drainage etc. In the last 10 to 15 years, tax system in

Direct Taxes Before Reform They had a major impact on economic policies, creation of savings and
the trend of investment. There was no proportion in terms of the impact of direct taxes on the

complex and inefficient because of the combination of high marginal rates of personal income and
wealth taxation and high rates of corporate profits. The corporate tax was pretty high. It leads to large
scale evasion. Members Of Parliament and Central Government Ministers get comparatively low
salaries, but they are given a sitting allowance which is not taxable. Ministers, MP s and other high

less in comparison to the prevailing market rate. Growth in Direct Tax collection during the Financial

The Art Of Racing In The Rain Rhetorical Analysis
The Art of Racing in the Tears
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a novel written in the point of view of an intelligent dog named Enzo.
The unique point of view of this novel is what makes it so entertaining and easy to read. Specific
scenes that show how Enzo transcends scenes include the zebra scene. Another is when Enzo kills the
squirrel. The last is Enzo s dying scene. In the Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein manipulates his
style by writing through the unusual point of view of a dog named Enzo, which transcends an ordinary
scene into an extraordinary scene, by using specific syntax, diction, and the unique point of view of
Enzo.
As Enzo was left to starve and hallucinate he encountered the evil zebra.
The now living zebra said nothing to me at all, but when it saw me it began to dance, a twisting, jerky
ballet which, culminated with the zebra repeatedly thrusting its gelded groin into the face of an
innocent Barbie doll. That made me quite angry, and I growled at the molester zebra, but it simply
smiled and continue its assault, this time picking on a stuffed frog, which it mounted from behind and
rode bareback it s hoof in the air like a bronco rider, yelling out
Yee haw! Yee haw! (53).
In this passage Enzo witnesses a horrific sight, but if told by through a different point of view, the
scene would seem very different. In reality Enzo was seeing illusions but what was really happening
was Enzo tearing up a little girl s stuffed animal. Because this scene was told through the point of
view of Enzo the scene really enticed the reader and pulled in their attention. Stein used word choice
such as molester zebra and gelded groin to simulate a nightmarish scene. Stein also writes his
sentences in a way that makes the audience read in a rapid yet fearful way by using syntax. Examples
of this are the excessive use of commas and short/easy pronounceable words. The now living zebra
said nothing to me at all....into the face of an innocent Barbie doll . Because of Enzo s genuine fear
and anxiety, this scene is transformed into an exciting, fearful scene because it is told through the
point of view of Enzo.
Another scene where the perspective Enzo provides changes a scene is when he kills the

Story Of An Hour
Marriage is a union of two companions who are deeply in love with each other; however, this is not
always the case. In Chopin Story of an Hour Louise weeps of her husband s death, but then comes to
the realization that she was now a free, independent women who no longer feels oppressed by
marriage. Louise; however, never gave a specific way in which her husband oppressed her, which
Chopin hints that marriage suppress both men and women. In Gilman The Yellow Wallpaper reveals
that gender division had the effect of keeping a woman in an adolescent state of ignorance and
prohibiting further development. Gilman critiques the position of women within the establishment of
marriage and criticizes the traditional nineteenth century middle class

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Essay
Definition
An AAA (abdominal aortic aneurysm) is defined as enlargement of at least 3 cm of the abdominal
aorta. The majority of abdominal aortic aneurysms begins below the renal arteries and ends above the
iliac arteries. The exact cause of (AAAs) is unknown. However, it is thought to be due to a
degenerative process of the abdominal aorta caused by atherosclerosis. Artherosclerosis represents a
response to vessel wall injury caused by inflammation, genetically regulated defects in collagen and
fibrillin, increased protease activity within the arterial wall, and mechanical factors (Stoelting p. 143).
Pathophysiology
The abdominal aorta consists of three distinct tissue layers including: the intima, media, and
adventicia. There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an increase in the concentration of proteolytic enzymes compared to their inhibitors in the
abdominal aorta as age progresses. It is also thought that metalloproteinases (MMPs) may be a factor
in the development of AAAs (Stoelting p. 143). There is an increase in expression and activity of
MMPs in people with AAAs. MMPs are present in normal aortic tissue and are responsible for vessel
remodeling. These proteinases are secreted into the extracellular matrix of AAAs by aortic smooth
muscle cells and macrophages. Increased MMP activity favors the degradation of collagen and elastin
in aneurysmal tissue (Laake).
Signs and Symptoms
Patients with ruptured AAAs present in many different ways. The most common manifestation of
rupture is back pain with a pulsatile abdominal mass and hypotension. Additional symptoms may
include syncope, flank mass, groin pain, or paralysis (Dalman and White). Unstable patients with a
suspected ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm need immediate operation and control of the proximal
aorta without preoperative confirmatory testing or optional volume resuscitation (Stoelting, p. 144).
Anesthesia Management
Surgical intervention is presently the only effective method of treating AAAs. The risk of surgical
repair is outweighed by the risk of aneurysm rupture or aneurysm related death. Patients

Literary Analysis Of The Rocking Horse Winner
The Rocking Horse Winner is a short story written by D.H. Lawrence. The story revolves around Paul,
a little boy, who gets involved in gambling in order to improve the financial conditions of his family
and prove his luck to his mother. At the first glance, from the title, I assumed that it would be an
upbeat tale about a little kid who surmounts his little obstacles. However, it turns out to be completely
different. Starting off as a gloomy tale, it turns even darker towards the end. It begins with description
of a mother who is fed up of her life and husband. She has a never ending greed for money and does
not live her children. Paul, on of her children is determined to find a way to end the financial problems
and prove his luck to his mother in order to win her love. His endeavor, however, ends in defeat as he
fails to get his mother s affection. Upon reading it for the first time, I was startled. This story was like
a rollercoaster, I experienced several emotions throughout it. From disgust to hopefulness back to
disgust again. It had a gloomy tone in the beginning, She married for love, and the love turned to dust.
She had bonny children, yet she felt they had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them
(Lawrence 1), I developed a strong dislike for the mother and a soft corner for the children. What kind
of mother has a hard time loving her children, that was the first thing that came to my mind.
Furthermore , the phrase, There must be more money, there

Differences And Similarities Between Lennon And Cobain
INTRODUCTION Everybody loves you when you re six feet in the ground, was once said by John
Lennon. The finest day I ever had was when tomorrow never came, Kurt. Though they died in the
midst of their career, John Lennon and Kurt Cobain amazed people with their successes, obstacles,
music. John Winston Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England ( John 1). At the
time, World War II was going on (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 14). His parents, Alfred Alf
Lennon and Julia Lennon divorced when he was a child (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 21) and
he had to move in with his aunt and uncle (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 25). In elementary
school, he played guitar and harmonica, always enjoying music (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine
32). The first song he ever learned was That ll be the Day by Buddy Holly (Burlingame, John Lennon:
Imagine 33). As music took over his life, John got distracted and his aunt told him that he could not
make a living by playing guitar (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 36). When John was teenager, he
started writing and composing music (Canale 1) as well as drawing and writing books. He wrote two
books, In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works (Watson 2). Similarly to Lennon, another
musician got their inspiration at a young age. Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 in
Aberdeen, Washington to Wendy and Don Cobain (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 11). He came
from a musical family and was introduced to music at an early age. When he was three years old, he
wrote his first song, Corn on the Cops. When he started playing guitar, he held it backwards because
he was left handed, and played popular Beatles songs like Hey Jude (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh
Well... 12). He was fourteen years old when he received his first electric guitar (Burlingame, Kurt
Cobain: Oh Well... 18). Like John, Kurt was involved with the visual arts and enjoyed drawing,
whittling, and painting (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 13). The two musicians background
allowed them to prosper in the future. In 1956, John Lennon formed his first band, The Quarrymen,
who had their first concert in 1959 (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 38). Later, in 1960, the band

Public Service Personal Statement
Growing up, my parents instilled the value of service in me. For this reason, I pursued a degree in
Education in order to serve my community with the best skillset. However, it was until serving as an
AmeriCorps member that I developed a more critical lens to what public service means. Before my
term of service, I thought serving was just a matter of showing up and completing a task. While this is
partially true, I learned that in order to maximize change, it is important to involve who we are
serving. At times, we focus more on quantity rather than quality and end up doing a disservice to
communities who need the most help. I want to serve with The Peace Corps to facilitate change and to
empower communities through education.

There is a couple ways that a fire can be stated without matches. One of them has to be done when it is
day. It is the lens effect. That is when there old a glass lens or any kind of lens gets held up by the sun
and aimed at the fire. After a little bit it will start, but to do this it has to be the day. One more thing
you can do is rub the little pieces of wood together and after a little bit it will start. Now it is time for
the last step.
The last step is to try to keep it going. How to keep it going is to add dry wood or paper, it can help to
but all the wood should be completely dry and set with the softwood. Then make sure that there is
more wood to the side that way it can be added on to the fire. The same thing for this to the wood as to
not be green. So double check the wood before it gets put in the fire. Because if not hen it might not
work. There is a fifty fifty change that it will work, but it said on Google that it will not work.
So that is why people need to know how to build a fire with no matches. That way, if someone gets
lost in the woods, they know how to start it and to keep it going. There has been people that died

Public Relations ( Pr )
2.0 Introduction
Public Relations (PR) is a multifaceted function that plays a role in nearly every organisation in today
s society (Wilcox et al., 2013). Due to its complex nature, the definition of PR has changed
considerably over the past 70 years (Ledingham Bruning, 1998). This report aims to analyse how PR
can specifically support the DMD Foundation to achieve its awareness and fundraising objectives. A
common definition of PR will be examined, breaking down its key elements, followed by a discussion
regarding the overarching role of PR within organisations, specifically in the non profit sector,
highlighting the positive impact that PR could have on the DMD Foundation.
Discussion
3.1 Defining Public Relations
The subsequent definition aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key elements
involved within the functions of the PR sector.
Public relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies
and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a
program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance.
(Public Relations News, as cited in Grunig Hunt, 1984)
PR as a management function serves to promote the importance of PR departments within an
organisation (Gordon, 1997) and brings to the decision making table theories born of ongoing research
and data to drive organisational decisions (Smith, 2014). For example, modern PR is

Plato s Idea of the Emergence of Tyranny from Democracy Essay
What are tyrants, one might ask. In the current sense of the word a tyrant is pejorative term, applied to
an individual in power who is selfish and self preserving. A tyrant is an immoral being, ruling over
those around him through force, a tax on the freedom of those he subjugates. Yet the question that one
should be asking is where do tyrants come from? Plato proposed that tyrants are a product of
democracy, that the liberty inherent to a democracy allows the self interested to manipulate the
system(generally through appealing to the population at large) causing a system with little liberty. This
paper aims to defend the claims of Plato concerning tyranny, particularly the origins of tyrants, as well
as to propose the safeguards that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato states that the ones who are by nature most orderly generally become the wealthiest ( The
Republic Book VIII 564e). Tyrants emerge where the drones manipulate the masses into despising the
prosperous. Regardless of what someone believes causes certain individuals in a society to become
wealthy and prosperous, it very hard to deny that the prosperous class does not provoke envy on the
part of the non prosperous. This is where the large uninterested portion of a democratic population
make it possible for tyrants to emerge. Both parties (the prosperous and non prosperous alike) select
and support drones that defend their interests, as one group is busy procuring wealth, the other
uninterested in pursuing political debate. The most successful of these drone are those that defend the
interests of those they support the best, generally by victimizing members of the opposite camps and
defending their own against the victimization of others. They gain power and prestige to the point that
they can be called popular leaders.
Tyrants evolve from popular leaders because they are able to victimize and scapegoat members of
opposing camps with the support of the masses. The masses benefit from supporting their leader as

Challenges Facing New Markets, Multinational Corporations...
Introduction
When entering new markets, multinational corporations (MNCs) often form strategic alliances with
local companies. An alliance is where two or more organisations integrate to form a strategic, business
relationship (Finlay, 2000). The potential benefits of such alliances include access to knowledge and
resources, building a global network, market access, recognition and access to a distribution network
which can all provide MNCs with a competitive advantage in a foreign market. However, MNCs also
face many challenges when forming alliances in other countries including loss of intellectual property,
different expectations, various challenges of globalisation (e.g. more stringent regulations being
imposed on foreign firms), ethical and cultural considerations and change management. This essay
will focus on two of these challenges in depth change management and cultural adaptation. However
within these sections, certain other topics will also be considered including leadership, innovation and
diversity and globalisation. This essay will critically discuss and analyse these challenges drawing on
real world examples, academic theory and additional research. It will also highlight and consider
potential solutions to these challenges.
Change management
One challenge MNCs face when forming alliances in foreign countries is successfully managing the
organisational change necessary to integrate two businesses which may have different cultures,

St. Augustine Earthquake
By St. Augustine sitting next to body of water, their risk of flooding has increased (St. Johns County
GIS Department, n.d.). According to the map above, category 1 is more at risk for flooding, then
eventually the flood would flow over to category 2 (St. Johns County GIS Department, n.d.). When
hurricanes rise above the levees, rapid rainfall occurs, or even clogged up or outdated drains can all
lead to flooding (National Flood Insurance, 2015a). As dams get older, they become weaker and more
unstable, which makes them a flood threat (NFIP, 2015b). In 2010, Guana dam in St. Augustine has

Causes Of Rural Urban Divide Of China
Causes of Rural Urban Divide: Hukou China s rural urban gaps are much larger than those found in
most other developing countries. This rural urban divide can be traced back to before the first
economic reform. Beginning in the 1950s, China separated urban and rural residents through a strictly
enforced household registration system (hukou) and focused mainly on the development of urban
cities. Hukou refers to permanent residency status and can be extremely hard to get in major cities
since it is tie to benefit levels, which differ across provinces and between urban residents and rural
residents. An urban hukou provides a relatively comprehensive system of health care and retirement
pensions in that particular city, while a rural hukou a much lower standard of welfares. Furthermore,
data shows hukou also significantly affects people s labor market return and wages through its
influence on their return to education. Individuals human capital was largely determined by the place
(rural versus urban) where they were born and received their education, which highlights the role of
China s rural urban divide in shaping people s labor market return. From 1980 to 2010, China relied
on a uniquely successful investment and export led development model for its 30 year miracle of
double digit GDP growth. However, to make rapid industrialization possible, China directed most of
its investments to the cities, financed massive urban infrastructure and development projects. In result

reportedly depressed over the alleged pregnancy of FKA Twigs and has dyed her hair brunette to get

take revenge upon Pattinson. As for Pattinson, the buzz is strong that he was forced by his fiancée to

The Uses Of Computers
For agents to provide an excellent level of assistance, they need the greatest tools that you can provide
them. The tools we are referring too fall into three main categories:
Hardware, the equipment that agents use
Software, the user interfaces that the agents use
Training, probably the most important toolkit an agent can have
Hardware
Perhaps the best place to start is with the most simple equipment. The price of computers has fallen
substantially over the past few years, so big gains can be made from a relatively meager expense.
Inadequate, low quality computers influence users badly in two main ways. The first is the difficulty
of navigating between applications and locating the necessary information. The second is the amount

There is a trend, prevalent in a lot of contact centers, to put continuous systems issues in the too
difficult to fix division. Rather than approaching the underlying concerns by investing in better
resources and upgrades, recurring difficulties are allowed to remain. This can do incalculable harm to
the customer experience and the capacity of agents to solve interactions.
There s a manageable mantra for evaluating systems performance: Reliability, Availability, and
Maintainability (RAM). That involves ensuring new systems normally work, that they have limited
downtime, and that they can be corrected efficiently when failing.
Knowledge Management Systems
Within every business, there is a lot of knowledge and experience locked within the workforce, and
discovering a way to merge it is advantageous for both the agents and the business.
The difference between Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) and intranets is shorter than it used
to be; what s significant is the functionality that it offers to agents. Intranets and KMSs can provide a
simple way for employees to communicate across the business, however universally spread they are
geographically.
One of the principal reasons this communication has been important to businesses is the training and
collaboration assistance it can allow. This kind of knowledge distribution tends to be how non
standard responses to situations become

the disillusionment towards reality. However, the film takes a satiric look at the seventies as it is based
on the ABSCAM sting operation of the time. American Hustle itself is told through various points of
view in regards to the same situation, showing viewers that reality is subjective to a person s
circumstances. Irving, a seasoned con man, Sydney, his partner, and Richie, an FBI agent, are all
trying to be people they are not. However, Irving s wife Rosalyn is portrayed as neurotic when she is
one of the only characters who is honest with herself because she realizes that life is full of poisonous

while they try to refigure themselves. The characters are all swindling one another and themselves
throughout the course of the film, showing that humans are beasts especially in their drive for sex and
power. Richie s attempt to swindle people to boost his position shows that many people will

Hey! Have you ever thought of becoming a sonographer? Do you even have an idea what a
sonographer is? Have you ever thought of looking into someones body and look inside their stomach?
Especially at a embryon? Well here in this paper you will find out every little thing about becoming a
sonographer.
Paragraph 2; Education
The education for this career is really simple and easy. You need to have a formal education, and an
associates degree or just a certificate of a training program. but many of the employers also require a
professional certification. It may also depend on what kind of degree you want it will depend on how
many years you will like to get profession in this career but, to get the profession of being a
sonographer it will take at least one year or two, you can go for four years if you want a master s
degree. Which will be great because you will get paid more.

will be looking at baby s. You will be the first person to tell any mother what the baby will be a girl or
boy. You will bring joy to both parents mom and dad just by saying It s a Girl or Its a boy . Another
advantage is that you will be in touch with you patients you will have to listen to what they have to tell
you. What i m actually saying about this is that many of your patients will get emotional and you will
have to be there to support them. Just as there is advantages there is also disadvantages. One of the
disadvantages is that you may have to work over time you will be standing up 98% of the time. You
might also have to work night shifts depending on what hospital you actually get a job at. but in my
opinion i feel like being a sonographer is amazing.

Elaboration Likelihood Model By Richard E. Petty And John T
Elaboration Likelihood Model This model, developed by Richard E. Petty and John T. Cacioppo,
favors a process based approach. This allows for a given variable having different persuasive effects at
different points in the interaction process [7]. Petty and Cacioppo break the persuasive process down
into three steps: motivation to process information, ability to process information, and cognitive
processing. To proceed through these steps, people take either the central route, which has more long
lasting effects, or the peripheral route [6]. The central route relies on high intrinsic motivation and
ability while the peripheral route relies on implicit cues and associations. Elaboration refers to

One example of this is what researchers Kar Yan Tam and Shuk Ying Ho term as a sorting cue, a
peripheral way to guide users attention and decision making process [7]. For instance, developers
could emphasize punctual check ins with sorting cues. One possible way to do this would be
highlighting the check in tab and the specific button for that check in in a clear but non obtrusive way.
By making the button catch users attention, it might remind them to check in if they have forgotten.
Another possibility is, by taking advantage of the mobile platform, configuring notifications around
the check in time for when the user does not have the application open. The Functional Triad Along
with coining the concept of captology, the study of persuasive technology development, B.J. Fogg
developed the functional triad framework. The purpose of this framework is to sort the persuasive
elements of a given technology into three categories of how humans can view computers toward the
end of better understanding the technology s persuasive power [2]. These three categories are
computers as tools, computers as media, and computers as social actors. Since it is the least relevant to
SlipBuddy, we will briefly address computers as media first. This category focuses primarily on
simulations. By helping users practice a behavior, they can experience change in reality [2]. There are

Walden Rhetorical Analysis
We can t live without nature. It s our home and way of life. Henry David Thoreau wrote a piece about
Walden Pond in the springtime. Thoreau discusses how nature has so much to offer. His use of
anaphora, diction, and imagery helps to show not only his love for nature, but the impact it has on us.
One device he uses to come across to the reader is anaphora. His love of nature was clear and he had
an eye for detail. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most ethereal flight I had
ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was almost too perfect for this
world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was thy sing? O Grave, where was
thy victory, then? Thoreau is leaving the reader wondering with these questions. Thoreau is
questioning nature now. When he goes in depth with anaphora it makes you think: why does nature
leave a sting? Why is death apart of this world? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he struck her in the face and pulled her hair (Crouse). These issues of domestic abuse are becoming
more common. This is just one example of misogyny in professional sports. While some argue that
misogyny in the professional sports arena is not a serious issue, there have been several instances of

These problems have solutions but the athletes and staff need to push towards to fixing them, harsher
punishments for offenders, need to promote women s sport equally to men, highlight successful
women athletes, bring awareness to discrimination stop negative tweets, articles, etc, and equal pay or
at least equal the pay more. There is no justifying domestic violence. Kareem Abdul Jabbar said in the
article, We Need to Stamp Out Misogyny in Sports , First, we need to address why they don t want to
watch. This goes back to cultural biases. If we don t value girls sports in middle school and high
school, then we don t grow up to value them as professional athletes. And by value, I mean make
athletic opportunities available, pay coaches equally, and promote female sports with the same vigor
as we do male sports. (Kareem Abdul Jabbar) , if in the male mind that women sports are just as
challenging and important as men s then the publicity problem would not exist. Kareem Abdul Jabaar
made a valid point when he said, Many will argue that the pay difference is the result of free market
supply and demand. More people want to see men play professional basketball than want to see
women play, so the players are paid accordingly. You can t argue economics. There is truth to this. You
can t force people to attend a sporting event if they don t want to (Kareem Abdul Jabbar) , but there is

European Colonialism In The Film Pelo Malo
We often villainize the countries of Latin America, making them out as lands filled with violent, less
civilized, poor people. Those who are uneducated about Latin America and the culture may apply the
things they know about one culture in Latin America or the Caribbean to other countries in the area.
We don t realize that some of the stereotypes are directly influenced by the legacies left by European
colonialism. Scholars studying colonialism have determined five colonial legacies that are seen in
many post colonial countries. These colonial legacies are authoritarian government, power of the
Roman Catholic Church, a social hierarchy, economic dependency, and the large landed estate. In the

Spanish, but African slaves seemingly received harsher treatment. Natives were expected to provide
labor, but this was not to the same degree as the Africans who s fate lie in the hands of their masters.
(Wright, 22 24). This order clearly places people of color below those of European, which is the major
part of the hierarchy that has persisted into the modern era. Though some Latin American societies
have attempted to end this legacy, by egalitarianism in Cuba (Wright, 225) or the creation of the first
black republic in Haiti, many other areas had persisting threads of the legacy weaved into their
peoples everyday lives. In Pelo Malo, the scene in the school shows an example of a society breaking
away from the social hierarchy. During colonial times, only men who were Spaniards or Creoles could
obtain an education. Women or people in a lower class were unable to be educated formally (Wright,
23). However, the film shows the school to be filed with both girls and boys, from a variety of social
classes it seems. There were children who looked like they could have been of full Spanish descent
sitting next to people like Junior who were of mixed race. Having this integration helps break the
expectation of a hierarchy in the children s minds, which may lead to even less use of the hierarchal
social order. The integration shows a separation from the

arms forward towards the audience, while doing a demi plié and diminutively curving her spine, and

suspended his right arm forward, fell forward towards downstage and catches himself. In addition to
the suspension and the fall movements, the sharp and the angular movements were also prevalent in

One thing I believe is a necessity in growing up is having a mentor. Having a mentor is, not only,
beneficial for the mentee but also the mentor. Being a mentor is a learning experience for everyone

Some people might think it s a waste of time for a child or that it ll never work out for a troubled

As protons move through liquid water, they ionize or excite atoms or molecules of the matter (water)
and deposit a dose or energy along their path. If a charged particle has a greater energy and moving
faster, it has a lower tendency to lose energy along its path in per unit path length.5 Similarly, at
higher energy, protons move relatively faster and thus ionize and excite fewer molecules, therefore, its
stopping power is lower.5 However, as their energy decrease, protons transfer more energy to the
medium and the stopping power would be higher as shown in Figure 1. Consequently, the stopping
power or LET depends on its energy.5 The energy loss increases towards the end of the range, reaches
a maximum, which is called the Bragg peak, and abruptly drop to zero before the protons stop. The
Bragg peak occurs because the interaction cross section of the medium increases as the proton s

In the Mind or In the World? Do objects exist in the Physical world? This discussion has been around
for generations. Philosophers like John Locke and George Berkeley have presented their theories
about the basics of human understanding, but both ideas are contradicting. Although both Locke and
Berkeley proved their position on whether primary qualities and secondary qualities exist in the real
world, Locke has provided a more coherent argument. In Locke s essay, An Essay Concerning Human
Understanding, he explains where and how one s knowledge was formed. He reiterates that
Whatsoever the Mind perceives in it self, or is the immediate object of Perception, Thought, or
Understanding, that I call Idea; and the Power to produce in any Idea ... Show more content on

He as well said that humans are like objects when it comes to existence, God s idea. Berkeley said,
This perceiving, active being is what I call mind, spirit, soul or myself (Berkeley, 55). Since he
believes that everything exists in the mind, Locke s primary and secondary qualities are only a
collection of idea. Berkeley says, ...Colours and tastes exist only in the mind...and to prove the same
thing of extension, figure and motion (Berkeley, 57). Berkeley argues that ... Various sensations, or
ideas imprinted on the sense, however blended or combined together, cannot exist otherwise in a mind
perceiving them (Berkeley, 55). He explains that ideas can only resemble ideas, therefore, external
objects does not exist since it cannot create perception. When we think about a certain object, to
Berkeley, it is not that he thinks that it does not exist, rather he believes that it is merely a collection of

The Effects Of Deforestation On The Environment
Air Pollution
Deforestation has been an ongoing activity in both the North and South Island in relatively equal
measures. Since New Zealand was inhabited, Maori and European settlers have exploited the forests
in New Zealand, reducing them from 82% to 23% of the surface area throughout the country. (Ewersa
et al,, 2006). This is a great volume of vegetation which has been removed from the earth s surface. In
return, many harmful impacts are being imposed on the environment. One of these is the increased
pollution in the air which is a result of less oxygen being released from trees. With deforestation
occurring at such noticeable rates, it is with urgency that the issue needs to be faced in order to protect
the well being of both the environment as well as humans. Deforestation alters normal weather
patterns by causing warmer and colder temperatures. These impact the environment as they affect the
growth of crops that rely on constant temperatures for growth. It also increases the frequency of
flooding as rainfall levels are affected by deforestation. (Chakravarty et al., 2012)
Climate Change
Not only is air pollution a result of deforestation but contribution to climate change is very significant
and is an issue that needs to be faced in New Zealand before it creates too much harm. Forests store
large volumes of carbon dioxide and in return, release oxygen into the atmosphere. When a forest is
cut down, the carbon dioxide is immediately released into the air which is not

The Social Aspect And Environment
The social aspect and environment is one of the biggest reasons why people do what they do. Their
interactions with others have contribute to their motives, drives and even thoughts, as if one person
can help mold another into who they are. In a society, there are different communities made up of
people of different races, religion and gender. In each of these communities, different morals and
values are emphasized which affects everyone in the community and influences them as a whole. The
closer the community, the more influences they have on each other whether they are good or bad.
Respected scholars Clifford Shaw and Henry D. McKay began researching the juvenile courts records
and they realized high rate of crimes weren t just based on a certain type of individual but where the
individual lived and the structure of the neighborhood and how they were connected to the community
which is called social disorganization. Social disorganization relies on many factors including
residential instability and poverty.
Social Disorganization beings with Robert Park and Ernest Burgess s Concentric Zone Model Theory,
it shows the five different zone: Central Business District, Zone in Transition (highest crime), Zone of
Workingmen s Homes, Residential Zone and Commuter Zone ( Professor Burgess theorizes that urban
areas grew from the inner core (Business District) towards outer areas (Commuters Zone). Zone 2 is
the highest level of crime where there is residential instability,

Essay about The Heroism of Minerva Mirabal Who was the...
How do the Mirabal sisters compare to colonial patriots? Both fought for freedom. Both risked their
lives to gain their freedom. And even though all of the Mirabal sisters were involved,
I believe that Minerva was the most courageous. She fought for her personal freedom, she fought for
the rights of women, and she even brought her own family into the rebellion to assist her in fighting
against tyranny.. Through this essay I will explain my overall opinion and show that
Minerva was the bravest and most devoted of the Mirabal sisters.
Minerva first began to show her bravery when she wanted to go to a boarding school. She was not
afraid of being away from home, even as a child. She wants to experience the world to free her mind

Trujillo saying that Minerva would make a nice conquest. She realizes that she has failed to persuade
Trujillo and attempts to leave, but Trujillo holds her against him. When she attempts to pull away a
second time, Trujillo becomes quite vulgar. The third time that she attempts to leave and fails,
Minerva slaps Trujillo without contemplating the consequences. This obviously angers Trujillo. The
Mirabals depart from the party to avoid any punishment. Over the next few days, the Mirabals attempt
to apologize for leaving the party earlier, but are eventually called in by Trujillo. Trujillo begins to
make small talk about his dice and of the Mirabals breaking the law and leaving the part early.
Minerva then raises a question about the dice and of her request to be allowed to go to law school.
Trujillo expands this when he states, I ll tell you what. I ll let you toss for the privilege. You win, you
get your wish. I win, I get mine. , Trujillo s wish being to bed Minerva.

Nutty Potty Research Paper
The Squatty Potty will Revolutionize the way people go number two. The way in which the west use
the restroom is the wrong way. There are many health issues that are directly related to the posture
toilets put you in. The sitting position toilets puts you in is bad for your health. This sitting posture
often attributes to colitis, hemorrhoids, constipation, colon cancer, and appendicitis. The cause of this
directly, is the Puborectalis muscle which has the purpose of clinching the vaginal and anal orifices in

This is something that the inventor of the Squatty Potty said Physiologically, we are designed to squat.
I think a great example can be seen in children that are still in diapers who squat to poop. Many of
them then struggle to poop when sitting on training toilets because it is unnatural they instinctively
squat. The Squatty Potty has shown that using it gets the job done normally two times as fast, which
everyone would want it to go by faster. Research has shown using the Squatty Potty can also be a
noninvasive treatment for hemorrhoids, if it is continually used instead of sitting normally on the
toilet. It can also help pregnant women by relieving pressure on the uterus that would otherwise be
caused from sitting on the toilet. The Squatty Potty uses the thighs to help support the colon to prevent
pelvic organ prolapse, hernias and diverticulitis. The Squatty Potty comes in 7 to 9 for people with
different heights, it is made for everyone of all sizes. The Squatty Potty fits perfectly under most
modern toilets for little space consumption, and easy

Comparsion of Sandra Cisneros´ Barbie-Q and Annie Chopin´s...
In Sandra Cisnero s short story Barbie Q, a Barbie doll is used to portray the author s inner struggle to
achieve perfection, and how her young age and innocence clouds her identity. Throughout the text it is
very clear that the author, a young girl, had come from an underprivileged family and faced the issues
many families of lower socioeconomic background typically face. In the short story it is also evident
that her gender plays a massive role in damaging her self esteem and confidence, as both the media
and the author s social background have continuously portrayed women as weak, powerless figures.
Similarly, in The Story of an Hour by Annie Chopin, the protagonist, once again a female figure
represented the life of domesticity a woman is expected to hold by society. Although Chopin s story
was written in the late 1800s and Barbie Q is a very modern story, both depict the protagonist females
as very helpless, incapable figures that trail after the overpowering men.
In the second paragraph of Barbie Q, the author speaks from a first person perspective while
describing how she typically plays pretend using her dolls. The narrator explains to the reader that,
Your Barbie is roommates with my Barbie, and my Barbie s boyfriend comes over and your Barbie
steals him, okay? Kiss kiss kiss. Then the two Barbies fight. You dumbbell! He s mine. This text
openly reveals how the young author, who presumably has not even reached her teen years yet, has
been deeply

Human Dignity In The Butterfly Circus And The Butterfly...
This world has human dignity and in this essay, I am going to state how the butterfly circus has lots of
it. When it comes to people and human dignity some people do not realize what it is. The butterfly
circus is a circus where human dignity what the circus is based on. People do what they want until
they find the right place to do it, and they do it at the butterfly circus where anyone can be anything,
and they can be themselves (who they truly are). In the butterfly circus, Mr Mendez says that the
butterfly circus is made up of people who haven t had much dignity in their lives (e.g. they get
rejected from their previous work (e.g. Circus) and they were left with nothing. Imagine if this
happened to you.
As people say nothing is possible when they continuously try something but end up failing. When a
kid finds his/her idol they would want to be exactly like them in every viable way. This relates to the
butterfly circus because when George and Will were putting up posters a boy and his father came up to
them. The boy had an excited smile, wipe across his face. The father said that his boy would like to
see George. The strongest man in the world replied saying that his dad was probably was stronger but
would come in as a close second. As the duo (the father and the son) walked off together and the boy
said excitedly to his dad while jumping around and said, I m going to be like that man when I m older

A Functionalist View Of Religion
Religion is universal, but interpretations of the meaning of religions vary. There are several
philosophers who interpreted religion in different manners, three of them being Tylor, Frazer, and
Marx. Even though their ideals were different, they all three still held a general functionalist view on
religion that religion served the purpose to comfort or control humans. On the contrary to the
functionalist opinions of Tylor, Frazer, and Marx, my personal belief coincides mostly with that of
Rudolf Otto. I interpret religion as a great, unexplainable mystery (that may or may not have to do
with human function), and not solely the result of one s fears, one s intellect, or one s oppression. A
functionalist view of religion revolves around one treating religion as if it were a logical, human
operation that can be explained without spiritual connection, and Tylor, Frazer, and Marx all depend
on using functionality to explain religion. Tylor believed that people invented religion because they
feared death, and they wished to have peace of mind about the death of their ancestors. The fear that
sprouted from the unknown, according to Tylor s philosophy, was consoled by the creation of religion.
Frazer believed that religion progressed as people evolved into higher thinking creatures. Primitive
humans, according to Frazer, believed in Animism, which is the concept that everything has a soul and
is one with a god, whether it is a rock or a caterpillar. The next step of developing

Mediator Case Presentation
The Dispute at hand has been referred to mediation upon the suggestion of the Court. I have been
identified as the independent mediator for this dispute. My main objective is to fully diagnose the
situation by gathering and organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building
credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the parties, and educating them about the mediation
process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to achieve this act it will require
broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation procedure I will
apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and
improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties.
Agreement
An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to
the intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be
drafted. I plan to draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and
minimise future ambiguity. The document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the
parties and will be signed by all parties and their counsels. The agreement will pay particular focus on
the following points:
Agreement to commit to mediation
Each individual party must use its best efforts to comply with the reasonable requests made by me in
order to ensure a punctual and expeditious determination

Caesar Rodney Research Paper
Caesar Rodney, the first of the delegation from Delaware, was a native of that state, and was born
about the year 1730. His birth place was Dover. The family, from which he was descended, was of
ancient date, and is honorably spoken of in the history of early times. We read of Sir Walter De
Rodeney, of Sir George De Rodeney, and Sir Henry De Rodeney, with several others of the same
name, even earlier than the year 1234. Sir Richard De Rodeney accompanied the gallant Richard
Coeur de Lion in his crusade to the Holy Land, where he fell, while fighting at the siege of Acre. In
subsequent years, the wealth and power of the family continued to be great. Intermarriages took place
between some of the members of it, and several illustrious and ... Show more content on

Soon after the settlement of Pennsylvania by William Penn, William Rodney, one of the descendants
of this illustrious family removed to that province and after a short residence in Philadelphia, settled in
Kent, a county upon the Delaware. This gentleman died in the year 1708, leaving a considerable
fortune, and eight children, the eldest of whom is the subject of the following sketch. Mr. Rodney
inherited from his father a large landed estate, which was entailed upon him, according to the usages
of distinguished families at that day. At the early age of twenty eight years, such was his popularity, he
was appointed high sheriff in the county in which he resided, and on the expiration of his term of
service, he was created a justice of the peace, and a judge of the lower courts. In 1762, and perhaps at
a still earlier date, he represented the county of Kent in the provincial legislature. In this station he
entered with great zeal and activity into the prominent measures of the day. In the year 1765, the first
general congress was assembled, as is well known, at New York, to consult

The Effects Of Elevated Carbon Dioxide ( Co2 ) Essay
2. Impact of Elevated Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a trace gas accounting for about 0.039 per cent or 390 ppm currently. CO2
concentration increases by 1 to 3 ppm every year primarily because of burning of fossil fuels. In
future, by 2100 the atmospheric CO2 concentration should reach 600 to 750 ppm. Plants are directly
influenced by increase in CO2 concentration; and increase in CO2 affects many physiological
processes like photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration, reproductive processes, and yield. CO2
diffuses from the atmosphere into leaves, via., stomata into mesophyll cells, intercellular spaces, cells,
and finally reach chloroplast for photosynthetic process. Increasing CO2 concentration in the
atmosphere will enhance the photosynthesis and dry matter production. The response to CO2 varies
among species mainly by the enzyme RuBisCo (RuBP). C3 plants readily react by increasing the
activity of RuBP carboxylase and by reducing the activity of RuBP oxygenase. Increase in
photosynthesis by 25% 75% was observed over doubling of atmospheric CO2. C4 plants show little
response to elevated CO2. Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM) plants also showed an increase in
photosynthetic rate. The increasing concentration of CO2 by burning of fossil fuels can be reduced by
improving the carbon fixation in the plants. Short term exposure of CO2 on plants shows increased
photosynthesis, whereas long term exposure shows variation in photosynthesis and also plant growth.

Identification of cell specific patterns of reference gene stability in quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction studies of embryonic, placental and neural stem models of prenatal ethanol exposure. Alcohol. 2013; 47 (2): 109 120. Introduction Consuming alcohol during pregnancy results in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). The spectrum of FAS ranges from barely detectable to severe functional and cognitive birth defects. In the United States approximately 9.1 out of 1,000 live births exhibit some degree of FAS spectrum. Molecular Methods Stem cell lines were derived from Mus musculus castaneus x Mus musculus (C57Black6) F1 embryos, because polymorphism between these strains allow for the examination of mono allelic patterns of epigenetic marks and gene expression within loci is regulated by genomic imprinting. Cells were grown on Mytomycin C treated feeder mouse fibroblast layer, then moved to a feeder free system. Embryonic stem cells (ES) were used to test the stability of the candidate gene during differentiation, Trophectoderm stem cells (TS) were used to test ethanol exposure on placentation, and Neurosphere stem cells were used to model neuroblast migration from their germinal zones to colonize brain development in in vitro. Cells were cultured to an 80% confluence and dissociated with 1xTrypsin. All cells, except control group, were cultures with ethanol at varying concentrations of: 60mg/dL, 120mg/dL, and 320mg/dL. Cells were extracted at each stage of neurosphere differentiation. Total RNA was isolated using the Trizol method for 4 independent experimental replicates. The samples were then DNased using DNaseI and made into 4 independent cDNA reactions using the reverse transcription kit, SuperScriptII, and random hexamer oligonucleotides. Quantitative real time PCR was performed using DyNAmo Flash SYBR Green qPCR Mastermix on a 7500 Fast Real Time PCR System from Applied Biosystems in 3 independent reactions measuring the candidate genes in duplicates. Eugenics, A New Science Of Heredity Eugenics, a new science of heredity was first introduced in 1883, brought about to address the budding fears and threats to the purity and fitness of the British race. A fear brought upon by events such as the Boer War in 1899, forced Britain to question the spectrum of degeneracy within the population and resolve the issue of bringing the British and White race back to strength, unified and fit. Sir Francis Galton defined eugenics as the study of agencies under social control that may improve or impair the racial qualities of future generations either physically or mentally . It was believed that differences in mental, moral and physical traits between individuals, as well as races were hereditary, producing those who were deemed ... The United States came across a lot more racialist than Britain; the key racial targets being the American Negro and various portions of white races emigrating from Eastern Europe. In a much more patriotic and chauvinistic country this threatened to overwhelm the superior white race, forcing the development of new immigration and sterilisation laws. Britain was just as supportive in believing in the dominant White race, however was never as extreme in it racialism. British Society was ethnically more or less homogenous and therefore it had not experienced the considerable amount of non white emigrating people than it did in later decades. . The movement in Britain was marked by variations on existing racial themes, instead of new compositions. Racism figured a lot less distinctly and was of less importance to British Eugenics, identifying the new science as primarily class based, focusing more on the biological fitness of the different classes. Consequently, one could argue that race wasn t awfully important to the movement, but race figured much more markedly to the eugenics movement in other countries such as the United ... Network Security enhancement using Software Defined Networking Technologies Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a pattern of new technologies for permitting more prominent control of how networks work. As opposed to a genuinely static network that must be controlled by exclusive merchant particular protocols, with at times restricted deceivability into the internals of layer 2 gadgets like switches, SDN considers experimentation in enhancing and arranging how the network functions. Furthermore, SDN can be controlled utilizing product server equipment, which can add to the reasonableness and expense reserve funds. If it s a large network consisting of so many networking devices, then it would be difficult to configure each and every device with these security measures as it takes a lot of time to do so. Further more, many network attacks are taking shape these days and their effects on the network are unpredictable. So if a new attack comes and if a security measure is developed against the attack, then it should be updated in each and every network device in a network, which will be a very tedious job to do. This is the current trend running in the networking environment. In our project we are implementing these security measures over SDN, as it provides a centralized controller for the network. If we just configure these security measures in the centralized controller, then the entire network, which is under the control of this particular controller, can be secured. Thus it saves a lot of time and effort. And if a new network attack comes into the network, then the security measure against this network attack can be configured inside the controller, so that it can be applied to the whole network, which is under the control of this controller instead of changing each and every networking device configuration in a network. The process brought on by hundreds of years of oppression because of a superiority complex. It is the removal of basic rights and enslavement. That was America in its most unethical form; it is the reason there are still problems today. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery (CANDY) (is the set of food items that are rich in sugar), and sending greeting cards (known as valentines ). On this day lovers all around the world mark this occasion as a day for sending poems, cards, flowers or candy, etc. They might also be a social gathering or ball to mark the occasion. Valentine Traditions â–ª Hundreds of years ago in England, many children dressed up as adults on Valentine s Day. They went singing from home to home. One verse they sang was: â–ª Good morning to you, valentine; Curl your locks as I do mine Two before and three behind. Good morning to you, valentine. â–ª In Wales wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favourite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, You unlock my heart! â–ª In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who their valentines would be. They would wear these names on their sleeves for one week. To wear your heart on your sleeve now means that it is easy for other people to know how you are feeling. â–ª In some countries, a young woman may receive a gift of clothing from a young man. SOCOM is still way too top heavy with officers, though. It is so bad that it is to the point that entire new bureaucracies were created overseas just so that officers could have jobs. • 10. The Art Of Racing In The Rain Rhetorical Analysis The Art of Racing in the Tears The Art of Racing in the Rain is a novel written in the point of view of an intelligent dog named Enzo. The unique point of view of this novel is what makes it so entertaining and easy to read. Specific scenes that show how Enzo transcends scenes include the zebra scene. Another is when Enzo kills the squirrel. The last is Enzo s dying scene. In the Art of Racing in the Rain, Garth Stein manipulates his style by writing through the unusual point of view of a dog named Enzo, which transcends an ordinary scene into an extraordinary scene, by using specific syntax, diction, and the unique point of view of Enzo. As Enzo was left to starve and hallucinate he encountered the evil zebra. The now living zebra said nothing to me at all, but when it saw me it began to dance, a twisting, jerky ballet which, culminated with the zebra repeatedly thrusting its gelded groin into the face of an innocent Barbie doll. That made me quite angry, and I growled at the molester zebra, but it simply smiled and continue its assault, this time picking on a stuffed frog, which it mounted from behind and rode bareback it s hoof in the air like a bronco rider, yelling out Yee haw! Yee haw! (53). In this passage Enzo witnesses a horrific sight, but if told by through a different point of view, the scene would seem very different. In reality Enzo was seeing illusions but what was really happening was Enzo tearing up a little girl s stuffed animal. Because this scene was told through the point of view of Enzo the scene really enticed the reader and pulled in their attention. Stein used word choice such as molester zebra and gelded groin to simulate a nightmarish scene. Stein also writes his sentences in a way that makes the audience read in a rapid yet fearful way by using syntax. Examples of this are the excessive use of commas and short/easy pronounceable words. The now living zebra said nothing to me at all....into the face of an innocent Barbie doll . Because of Enzo s genuine fear and anxiety, this scene is transformed into an exciting, fearful scene because it is told through the point of view of Enzo. The majority of abdominal aortic aneurysms begins below the renal arteries and ends above the iliac arteries. The exact cause of (AAAs) is unknown. However, it is thought to be due to a degenerative process of the abdominal aorta caused by atherosclerosis. Artherosclerosis represents a response to vessel wall injury caused by inflammation, genetically regulated defects in collagen and fibrillin, increased protease activity within the arterial wall, and mechanical factors (Stoelting p. 143). Pathophysiology The abdominal aorta consists of three distinct tissue layers including: the intima, media, and adventicia. There is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is an increase in the concentration of proteolytic enzymes compared to their inhibitors in the abdominal aorta as age progresses. It is also thought that metalloproteinases (MMPs) may be a factor in the development of AAAs (Stoelting p. 143). There is an increase in expression and activity of MMPs in people with AAAs. MMPs are present in normal aortic tissue and are responsible for vessel remodeling. These proteinases are secreted into the extracellular matrix of AAAs by aortic smooth muscle cells and macrophages. Increased MMP activity favors the degradation of collagen and elastin in aneurysmal tissue (Laake). Signs and Symptoms Patients with ruptured AAAs present in many different ways. The most common manifestation of rupture is back pain with a pulsatile abdominal mass and hypotension. Additional symptoms may include syncope, flank mass, groin pain, or paralysis (Dalman and White). Unstable patients with a suspected ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm need immediate operation and control of the proximal aorta without preoperative confirmatory testing or optional volume resuscitation (Stoelting, p. 144). • 13. Literary Analysis Of The Rocking Horse Winner The Rocking Horse Winner is a short story written by D.H. Lawrence. The story revolves around Paul, a little boy, who gets involved in gambling in order to improve the financial conditions of his family and prove his luck to his mother. At the first glance, from the title, I assumed that it would be an upbeat tale about a little kid who surmounts his little obstacles. However, it turns out to be completely different. Starting off as a gloomy tale, it turns even darker towards the end. It begins with description of a mother who is fed up of her life and husband. She has a never ending greed for money and does not live her children. Paul, on of her children is determined to find a way to end the financial problems and prove his luck to his mother in order to win her love. His endeavor, however, ends in defeat as he fails to get his mother s affection. Upon reading it for the first time, I was startled. This story was like a rollercoaster, I experienced several emotions throughout it. From disgust to hopefulness back to disgust again. It had a gloomy tone in the beginning, She married for love, and the love turned to dust. She had bonny children, yet she felt they had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them (Lawrence 1), I developed a strong dislike for the mother and a soft corner for the children. What kind of mother has a hard time loving her children, that was the first thing that came to my mind. Furthermore , the phrase, There must be more money, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Differences And Similarities Between Lennon And Cobain INTRODUCTION Everybody loves you when you re six feet in the ground, was once said by John Lennon. The finest day I ever had was when tomorrow never came, Kurt. Though they died in the midst of their career, John Lennon and Kurt Cobain amazed people with their successes, obstacles, music. John Winston Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England ( John 1). At the time, World War II was going on (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 14). His parents, Alfred Alf Lennon and Julia Lennon divorced when he was a child (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 21) and he had to move in with his aunt and uncle (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 25). In elementary school, he played guitar and harmonica, always enjoying music (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 32). The first song he ever learned was That ll be the Day by Buddy Holly (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 33). As music took over his life, John got distracted and his aunt told him that he could not make a living by playing guitar (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 36). When John was teenager, he started writing and composing music (Canale 1) as well as drawing and writing books. He wrote two books, In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works (Watson 2). Similarly to Lennon, another musician got their inspiration at a young age. Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington to Wendy and Don Cobain (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 11). He came from a musical family and was introduced to music at an early age. When he was three years old, he wrote his first song, Corn on the Cops. When he started playing guitar, he held it backwards because he was left handed, and played popular Beatles songs like Hey Jude (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 12). He was fourteen years old when he received his first electric guitar (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 18). Like John, Kurt was involved with the visual arts and enjoyed drawing, whittling, and painting (Burlingame, Kurt Cobain: Oh Well... 13). The two musicians background allowed them to prosper in the future. In 1956, John Lennon formed his first band, The Quarrymen, who had their first concert in 1959 (Burlingame, John Lennon: Imagine 38). Later, in 1960, the band ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Public Service Personal Statement Growing up, my parents instilled the value of service in me. For this reason, I pursued a degree in Education in order to serve my community with the best skillset. However, it was until serving as an AmeriCorps member that I developed a more critical lens to what public service means. Before my term of service, I thought serving was just a matter of showing up and completing a task. While this is partially true, I learned that in order to maximize change, it is important to involve who we are serving. Due to its complex nature, the definition of PR has changed considerably over the past 70 years (Ledingham Bruning, 1998). This report aims to analyse how PR can specifically support the DMD Foundation to achieve its awareness and fundraising objectives. A common definition of PR will be examined, breaking down its key elements, followed by a discussion regarding the overarching role of PR within organisations, specifically in the non profit sector, highlighting the positive impact that PR could have on the DMD Foundation. Discussion 3.1 Defining Public Relations The subsequent definition aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key elements involved within the functions of the PR sector. Public relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance. (Public Relations News, as cited in Grunig Hunt, 1984) PR as a management function serves to promote the importance of PR departments within an organisation (Gordon, 1997) and brings to the decision making table theories born of ongoing research and data to drive organisational decisions (Smith, 2014). • 19. Plato s Idea of the Emergence of Tyranny from Democracy Essay What are tyrants, one might ask. In the current sense of the word a tyrant is pejorative term, applied to an individual in power who is selfish and self preserving. A tyrant is an immoral being, ruling over those around him through force, a tax on the freedom of those he subjugates. Yet the question that one should be asking is where do tyrants come from? Plato proposed that tyrants are a product of democracy, that the liberty inherent to a democracy allows the self interested to manipulate the system(generally through appealing to the population at large) causing a system with little liberty. This paper aims to defend the claims of Plato concerning tyranny, particularly the origins of tyrants, as well as to propose the safeguards that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato states that the ones who are by nature most orderly generally become the wealthiest ( The Republic Book VIII 564e). Tyrants emerge where the drones manipulate the masses into despising the prosperous. Regardless of what someone believes causes certain individuals in a society to become wealthy and prosperous, it very hard to deny that the prosperous class does not provoke envy on the part of the non prosperous. This is where the large uninterested portion of a democratic population make it possible for tyrants to emerge. Both parties (the prosperous and non prosperous alike) select and support drones that defend their interests, as one group is busy procuring wealth, the other uninterested in pursuing political debate. The most successful of these drone are those that defend the interests of those they support the best, generally by victimizing members of the opposite camps and defending their own against the victimization of others. They gain power and prestige to the point that they can be called popular leaders. Tyrants evolve from popular leaders because they are able to victimize and scapegoat members of opposing camps with the support of the masses. An alliance is where two or more organisations integrate to form a strategic, business relationship (Finlay, 2000). The potential benefits of such alliances include access to knowledge and resources, building a global network, market access, recognition and access to a distribution network which can all provide MNCs with a competitive advantage in a foreign market. However, MNCs also face many challenges when forming alliances in other countries including loss of intellectual property, different expectations, various challenges of globalisation (e.g. more stringent regulations being imposed on foreign firms), ethical and cultural considerations and change management. This essay will focus on two of these challenges in depth change management and cultural adaptation. However within these sections, certain other topics will also be considered including leadership, innovation and diversity and globalisation. This rural urban divide can be traced back to before the first economic reform. Beginning in the 1950s, China separated urban and rural residents through a strictly enforced household registration system (hukou) and focused mainly on the development of urban cities. Hukou refers to permanent residency status and can be extremely hard to get in major cities since it is tie to benefit levels, which differ across provinces and between urban residents and rural residents. An urban hukou provides a relatively comprehensive system of health care and retirement pensions in that particular city, while a rural hukou a much lower standard of welfares. Furthermore, data shows hukou also significantly affects people s labor market return and wages through its influence on their return to education. Individuals human capital was largely determined by the place (rural versus urban) where they were born and received their education, which highlights the role of China s rural urban divide in shaping people s labor market return. From 1980 to 2010, China relied on a uniquely successful investment and export led development model for its 30 year miracle of double digit GDP growth. Thoreau shows us this through his statement, It was the most ethereal flight I had ever witnessed. This claim shows how much beauty he saw in nature. It was almost too perfect for this world in his eyes. He then brings up questions like, O Death, where was thy sing? O Grave, where was thy victory, then? Verlezza. This piece displayed both the physical and the mental struggles of each of the four individuals in a city like environment. The piece began with a distinct backdrop that showed a crowd of people walking through a busy street with cacophonic sounds of the people. The discord voices ... Although it was difficult at times to observe each moment due to the location of our seating, I still saw a little bit of Nicholson s solo in right corner of the stage. She suspended her legs and toes, with a slow and strong articulation of the feet, and dramatically fell to the ground. Similarly, Cooch suspended her arms forward towards the audience, while doing a demi plié and diminutively curving her spine, and gave a merciful gaze as if she was asking for help. Additionally, one of the male dancers in the vest suspended his right arm forward, fell forward towards downstage and catches himself. In addition to the suspension and the fall movements, the sharp and the angular movements were also prevalent in this piece. Throughout specific parts of the piece, while one dancer danced his or her solo, the others would move and walk downstage and then upstage very angularly in unison, with their feet flexed; almost as if they were robots. I interpreted this as if they were living machines that were the products of the consumer and materialistic culture in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Becoming a Mentor One thing I believe is a necessity in growing up is having a mentor. Having a mentor is, not only, beneficial for the mentee but also the mentor. Being a mentor is a learning experience for everyone participating, it helps people grow as a person and friendships are created when a bond if formed. Some people might think it s a waste of time for a child or that it ll never work out for a troubled delinquent but based on the research I ve done, I have proven them wrong. Through out this paper I will provide the pros and cons of mentoring and how they affect both mentor and mentee. To back up my proposal that mentoring is supporting, I will supply examples to answer the question: Is mentoring really important? What is a mentor and what is ... It takes a lot of commitment to be a mentor, an appropriate meeting time needs to be discussed between mentor and mentee so that it doesn t conflict with family, school, and/or social life. Mentors are usually provided for: troubled teens, young children with busy parents that work, children or teens with special needs such as Autism or ADHD, or anyone under or over the age of 18 who needs to have one on one time with someone they trust and can talk to confidentially. There are many benefits that could be useful for young adults to have a mentor, according to Blue Sky Coaching (2008). One of many, that personally stands out to me, is business and life skills. I think this is very beneficial because whether you have a career mentor as an employee or a child development mentor, they can help you discover the value of life and teach you things that will take you farther then you would go on your own. This skill is something you can t get from just anyone, they have to know the skill and tell you the do s and don ts of the process the correct way. Gives us a basis to examine how indulging in pleasure is a form of self gratification, allowing the lover to experience love in its most shallow form. Eros lacks morality because its selfish, exclusive, and requires little to no self love. Eros is particular on which person receives this love, it denies the beloved any true form of compassion, and there is little to no self love involved because it is the beloved that is giving to the lover, there is no need for deep thought about what they could give back to the beloved. The conversion of units between KeVµm 1 and MeVcm 1 is 1 KeVµm 1 = 10MeV cm 1.1 The variation in stopping power value with energy for protons. A heavy charged particle traversing matter loses energy mainly through the ionization and excitation of atom. A heavy charged particle can transfer a very small fraction of its energy in an electronic collision (inelastic collision) and loses energy continuously along its path at the linear rate. 1 The energy loss by charged particles in a medium is called the stopping power or linear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As protons move through liquid water, they ionize or excite atoms or molecules of the matter (water) and deposit a dose or energy along their path. If a charged particle has a greater energy and moving faster, it has a lower tendency to lose energy along its path in per unit path length.5 Similarly, at higher energy, protons move relatively faster and thus ionize and excite fewer molecules, therefore, its stopping power is lower.5 However, as their energy decrease, protons transfer more energy to the medium and the stopping power would be higher as shown in Figure 1. Consequently, the stopping power or LET depends on its energy.5 The energy loss increases towards the end of the range, reaches a maximum, which is called the Bragg peak, and abruptly drop to zero before the protons stop. The Bragg peak occurs because the interaction cross section of the medium increases as the proton s energy decreases.1, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Locke Vs Berkeley In the Mind or In the World? Do objects exist in the Physical world? This discussion has been around for generations. Philosophers like John Locke and George Berkeley have presented their theories about the basics of human understanding, but both ideas are contradicting. Although both Locke and Berkeley proved their position on whether primary qualities and secondary qualities exist in the real world, Locke has provided a more coherent argument. In Locke s essay, An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, he explains where and how one s knowledge was formed. He reiterates that Whatsoever the Mind perceives in it self, or is the immediate object of Perception, Thought, or Understanding, that I call Idea; and the Power to produce in any Idea ... Berkeley says, ...Colours and tastes exist only in the mind...and to prove the same thing of extension, figure and motion (Berkeley, 57). Berkeley argues that ... Various sensations, or ideas imprinted on the sense, however blended or combined together, cannot exist otherwise in a mind perceiving them (Berkeley, 55). • 40. The Effects Of Deforestation On The Environment Air Pollution Deforestation has been an ongoing activity in both the North and South Island in relatively equal measures. Since New Zealand was inhabited, Maori and European settlers have exploited the forests in New Zealand, reducing them from 82% to 23% of the surface area throughout the country. (Ewersa et al,, 2006). This is a great volume of vegetation which has been removed from the earth s surface. In return, many harmful impacts are being imposed on the environment. One of these is the increased pollution in the air which is a result of less oxygen being released from trees. With deforestation occurring at such noticeable rates, it is with urgency that the issue needs to be faced in order to protect the well being of both the environment as well as humans. Deforestation alters normal weather patterns by causing warmer and colder temperatures. These impact the environment as they affect the growth of crops that rely on constant temperatures for growth. It also increases the frequency of flooding as rainfall levels are affected by deforestation. (Chakravarty et al., 2012) Climate Change Not only is air pollution a result of deforestation but contribution to climate change is very significant and is an issue that needs to be faced in New Zealand before it creates too much harm. Forests store large volumes of carbon dioxide and in return, release oxygen into the atmosphere. When a forest is cut down, the carbon dioxide is immediately released into the air which is not ... Their interactions with others have contribute to their motives, drives and even thoughts, as if one person can help mold another into who they are. In a society, there are different communities made up of people of different races, religion and gender. In each of these communities, different morals and values are emphasized which affects everyone in the community and influences them as a whole. The closer the community, the more influences they have on each other whether they are good or bad. Respected scholars Clifford Shaw and Henry D. McKay began researching the juvenile courts records and they realized high rate of crimes weren t just based on a certain type of individual but where the individual lived and the structure of the neighborhood and how they were connected to the community which is called social disorganization. Social disorganization relies on many factors including residential instability and poverty. Social Disorganization beings with Robert Park and Ernest Burgess s Concentric Zone Model Theory, it shows the five different zone: Central Business District, Zone in Transition (highest crime), Zone of Workingmen s Homes, Residential Zone and Commuter Zone ( Professor Burgess theorizes that urban areas grew from the inner core (Business District) towards outer areas (Commuters Zone). In Sandra Cisnero s short story Barbie Q, a Barbie doll is used to portray the author s inner struggle to achieve perfection, and how her young age and innocence clouds her identity. Throughout the text it is very clear that the author, a young girl, had come from an underprivileged family and faced the issues many families of lower socioeconomic background typically face. In the short story it is also evident that her gender plays a massive role in damaging her self esteem and confidence, as both the media and the author s social background have continuously portrayed women as weak, powerless figures. Similarly, in The Story of an Hour by Annie Chopin, the protagonist, once again a female figure represented the life of domesticity a woman is expected to hold by society. Although Chopin s story was written in the late 1800s and Barbie Q is a very modern story, both depict the protagonist females as very helpless, incapable figures that trail after the overpowering men. In the second paragraph of Barbie Q, the author speaks from a first person perspective while describing how she typically plays pretend using her dolls. The narrator explains to the reader that, Your Barbie is roommates with my Barbie, and my Barbie s boyfriend comes over and your Barbie steals him, okay? Kiss kiss kiss. Then the two Barbies fight. When it comes to people and human dignity some people do not realize what it is. The butterfly circus is a circus where human dignity what the circus is based on. People do what they want until they find the right place to do it, and they do it at the butterfly circus where anyone can be anything, and they can be themselves (who they truly are). In the butterfly circus, Mr Mendez says that the butterfly circus is made up of people who haven t had much dignity in their lives (e.g. they get rejected from their previous work (e.g. Circus) and they were left with nothing. Imagine if this happened to you. As people say nothing is possible when they continuously try something but end up failing. This relates to the butterfly circus because when George and Will were putting up posters a boy and his father came up to them. The boy had an excited smile, wipe across his face. • 46. A Functionalist View Of Religion Religion is universal, but interpretations of the meaning of religions vary. There are several philosophers who interpreted religion in different manners, three of them being Tylor, Frazer, and Marx. Even though their ideals were different, they all three still held a general functionalist view on religion that religion served the purpose to comfort or control humans. On the contrary to the functionalist opinions of Tylor, Frazer, and Marx, my personal belief coincides mostly with that of Rudolf Otto. I interpret religion as a great, unexplainable mystery (that may or may not have to do with human function), and not solely the result of one s fears, one s intellect, or one s oppression. A functionalist view of religion revolves around one treating religion as if it were a logical, human operation that can be explained without spiritual connection, and Tylor, Frazer, and Marx all depend on using functionality to explain religion. Tylor believed that people invented religion because they feared death, and they wished to have peace of mind about the death of their ancestors. The fear that sprouted from the unknown, according to Tylor s philosophy, was consoled by the creation of religion. Frazer believed that religion progressed as people evolved into higher thinking creatures. Primitive humans, according to Frazer, believed in Animism, which is the concept that everything has a soul and is one with a god, whether it is a rock or a caterpillar. My main objective is to fully diagnose the situation by gathering and organizing all the relevant information. I aim to do so by building credibility, fostering a positive relationship with the parties, and educating them about the mediation process while securing their commitment to this process. In order to achieve this act it will require broad psychological control and people management. Over the course of mediation procedure I will apply the different elements of principled negotiation to achieve an agreement that is competent and improves the existing hostile relationship of both parties. Agreement An essential element to the operation of the mediation process is that both parties agree and consent to the intervention before preparatory activities begin. Therefore, a clearly written agreement should be drafted. I plan to draft this document with the input from all parties, in order to aid interpretation and minimise future ambiguity. The document will describe the clear intent and agreement between the parties and will be signed by all parties and their counsels. The agreement will pay particular focus on the following points: Agreement to commit to mediation Each individual party must use its best efforts to comply with the reasonable requests made by me in order to ensure a punctual and expeditious determination ... • 49. The Effects Of Elevated Carbon Dioxide ( Co2 ) Essay 2. Impact of Elevated Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a trace gas accounting for about 0.039 per cent or 390 ppm currently. CO2 concentration increases by 1 to 3 ppm every year primarily because of burning of fossil fuels. In future, by 2100 the atmospheric CO2 concentration should reach 600 to 750 ppm. Plants are directly influenced by increase in CO2 concentration; and increase in CO2 affects many physiological processes like photosynthesis, respiration, transpiration, reproductive processes, and yield. CO2 diffuses from the atmosphere into leaves, via., stomata into mesophyll cells, intercellular spaces, cells, and finally reach chloroplast for photosynthetic process. Increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere will enhance the photosynthesis and dry matter production. The response to CO2 varies among species mainly by the enzyme RuBisCo (RuBP). C3 plants readily react by increasing the activity of RuBP carboxylase and by reducing the activity of RuBP oxygenase. Increase in photosynthesis by 25% 75% was observed over doubling of atmospheric CO2. C4 plants show little response to elevated CO2. Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM) plants also showed an increase in photosynthetic rate. The increasing concentration of CO2 by burning of fossil fuels can be reduced by improving the carbon fixation in the plants. Short term exposure of CO2 on plants shows increased photosynthesis, whereas long term exposure shows variation in photosynthesis and also plant growth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
